[0:33] Speaker 1: because it's story time. If this is your very first
[0:38] Speaker 1: time listening to the show, I want to say a
[0:41] Speaker 1: great big hello. It's lovely to have you join me
[0:46] Speaker 1: and my friends here. And if you've been listening to
[0:49] Speaker 1: Snuggle for a while already, then welcome back, and thanks
[0:55] Speaker 1: so much for tuning in again. Our story tonight it
[1:00] Speaker 1: will be read by my good friend Gwen. We'll be
[1:04] Speaker 1: traveling to a sleepy summer camp deep in the forest. There,
[1:09] Speaker 1: a lazy stream winds its way down to a big lake,
[1:15] Speaker 1: pine trees rustle in the breeze, and a girl named
[1:19] Speaker 1: Jennifer is finishing another wonderful day. I think you're going
[1:26] Speaker 1: to love it, especially if you're a fan of camping.
[1:32] Speaker 1: So let's prepare our imaginations to make sure they're ready
[1:37] Speaker 1: to listen along. Breathe in nice and slowly, filling your
[1:44] Speaker 1: belly with air, and even more slowly breathe the air,
[1:52] Speaker 1: back out, let your arms, legs and everything else completely relax.
[2:05] Speaker 1: Great job. Now let's meet Jennifer as she starts to
[2:11] Speaker 1: say good night to her summer camp. At the end
[2:16] Speaker 1: of a long.
[2:17] Speaker 2: Day, Jennifer had decided to take a nice long walk.
[2:44] Speaker 2: At sunset, she'd hike to her favorite place in the
[2:49] Speaker 2: whole world, Viewpoint Rock, high on a hill above her
[2:56] Speaker 2: summer camp. And now she sits on the big sturdy
[3:02] Speaker 2: rock and looks out over the landscape. Her summer camp
[3:08] Speaker 2: sits beside a large round lake with green trees all around.
[3:17] Speaker 2: From up here, she can see the camp's buildings way
[3:22] Speaker 2: down below. They were built a long time ago with
[3:29] Speaker 2: wood from the birch, fir and aspen trees in the
[3:34] Speaker 2: surrounding forest. She sees the cafeteria where all the yummy
[3:42] Speaker 2: food is made. Then she spots the gymnasium where all
[3:48] Speaker 2: the campers played games and run around. Finally, she sees
[3:55] Speaker 2: the bunk house, where she'll soon be settling in for
[3:59] Speaker 2: the night. From this height, the buildings all look like
[4:06] Speaker 2: little yellow and blue squares. They were freshly painted before
[4:12] Speaker 2: a camp started this year, so the colors are bright
[4:15] Speaker 2: and cheerful. There is plenty of space between all the
[4:20] Speaker 2: buildings which are nestled in the grass at the lakeside.
[4:27] Speaker 2: Jennifer loves watching her camp from above, as if she
[4:32] Speaker 2: were one of the hawks or ravens soaring lazily overhead.
[4:39] Speaker 2: They're taking their last flight of the evening before heading
[4:43] Speaker 2: back to their nests for the night, and as the
[4:47] Speaker 2: birds begin to land on the branches of the nearby trees,
[4:52] Speaker 2: Jennifer knows it will soon be time for her to
[4:56] Speaker 2: go to bed too. First, she takes a big, deep breath.
[5:05] Speaker 2: She feels the air fel her lungs and move around
[5:09] Speaker 2: her body like magic. She smells the pollen in the
[5:14] Speaker 2: air and the rich aroma of pine trees. She even
[5:21] Speaker 2: notices the familiar scent of the lake water from down below.
[5:28] Speaker 2: The air here smells so different from back home. It's
[5:33] Speaker 2: fresh and woodsy and makes her think of fun, friendship,
[5:39] Speaker 2: and the happiness of summer. Then, before starting her height
[5:46] Speaker 2: back to camp, Jennifer closes her eyes just for a
[5:51] Speaker 2: moment and listens closely. She hears the sounds of her
[5:58] Speaker 2: fellow campers laughing and talking in the distance, and the
[6:03] Speaker 2: trees rustling gently in the wind and the wildlife cozying
[6:09] Speaker 2: up for bedtime. It's like her own forced symphony. But
[6:18] Speaker 2: when Jennifer hears the clanging of the evening bell down below,
[6:23] Speaker 2: she realizes that her bedtime is closer than she thought,
[6:28] Speaker 2: and she doesn't want to be late. It's easy to
[6:32] Speaker 2: lose track of time in such a wonderful place, so
[6:38] Speaker 2: Jennifer laces up her sneakers and begins to make her
[6:42] Speaker 2: way back to the trail that will lead her to camp.
[6:48] Speaker 2: While she's walking down the dirt path, she sees a
[6:52] Speaker 2: rope swing that she and her friends built in a
[6:56] Speaker 2: tree last summer. It sways back and forth in the breeze.
[7:04] Speaker 2: She daydreams about her friends laughing, their legs pumping up
[7:10] Speaker 2: and down as they swing higher and higher. Jennifer walks
[7:18] Speaker 2: over to the rope swing and kicks off from the ground.
[7:23] Speaker 2: She feels the wind against her face as she soars
[7:27] Speaker 2: above the tree branches. The cool nighttime breeze meets the
[7:34] Speaker 2: warm daytime air up here. After a few swings, she
[7:41] Speaker 2: comes to rest back on the ground with a happy smile.
[7:48] Speaker 2: She ties the rope to a branch to secure it
[7:52] Speaker 2: and says good night to the rope swing, knowing she'll
[7:56] Speaker 2: be back soon. With her friends continuing down the trail,
[8:03] Speaker 2: Jennifer turns back to catch a glimpse of the sign
[8:07] Speaker 2: for Viewpoint Rock, where she was just sitting. She remembers
[8:14] Speaker 2: being a younger camper all those years ago. Back then,
[8:21] Speaker 2: she wasn't strong enough yet to scamper all the way
[8:24] Speaker 2: to the top of the hill and the giant rock.
[8:29] Speaker 2: Now she's the fastest hiker in the bunk house. She
[8:35] Speaker 2: can't wait to tell her friends about the amazing view
[8:39] Speaker 2: she saw up there today. But looking at the sign now,
[8:45] Speaker 2: she notices that something is a little bit different. Then
[8:50] Speaker 2: she realizes what it is. The sign is crooked and
[8:55] Speaker 2: pointing people to another trail that goes in a completely
[8:59] Speaker 2: different direction. She hadn't noticed before because she knows the
[9:06] Speaker 2: way by heart. That has to be fixed so no
[9:11] Speaker 2: one gets lost, she thinks to herself. Jennifer uses both
[9:16] Speaker 2: of her hands to twist the signposts until it points
[9:20] Speaker 2: in the right direction toward the Viewpoint Rock trail. When
[9:26] Speaker 2: she's finished, she steps back and looks at her work.
[9:32] Speaker 2: It's perfect. She smiles and wishes to sign and the
[9:38] Speaker 2: trail to her favorite place. Good Night. Jennifer continues on
[9:45] Speaker 2: her journey. After all, she still has a long way
[9:50] Speaker 2: to go before she gets back to the bunk house,
[9:55] Speaker 2: and there are so many things she'd like to say
[9:58] Speaker 2: good night to along the way. As she walks, she
[10:05] Speaker 2: follows the stream. Evening light shimmers on the water, reminding
[10:11] Speaker 2: Jennifer of the little fish she saw starting around earlier today.
[10:17] Speaker 2: Good night fish, she whispers. The stream passes over some
[10:24] Speaker 2: rocks as it empties into the lake, and where the
[10:29] Speaker 2: two bodies of water meet, Jennifer bends down. She cups
[10:35] Speaker 2: her hands together and fills them with the cool, refreshing water.
[10:42] Speaker 2: She splashes it against her face. It feels wonderful on
[10:47] Speaker 2: her skin, and that's when Jennifer notices that a bright
[10:53] Speaker 2: red canoe has started to float away from the nearby dock.
[11:00] Speaker 2: Maybe someone forgot to tie it up when they were
[11:02] Speaker 2: finished with it, she thinks. Jennifer walks onto the dock,
[11:08] Speaker 2: which creaks and groans with every step. When she reaches
[11:15] Speaker 2: the end, she picks up a canoe paddle and then
[11:19] Speaker 2: stretches as far over the water as she can. Luckily,
[11:26] Speaker 2: it's far enough that the paddle's handle can reach the
[11:29] Speaker 2: side of the canoe. With a gentle tug, Jennifer is
[11:36] Speaker 2: able to smoothly guide it back across the water toward her.
[11:42] Speaker 2: It floats next to the dock and she walks alongside
[11:46] Speaker 2: it until it reaches the shore. When the bottom is
[11:52] Speaker 2: barely touching the gravel below, Jennifer lets go of the
[11:56] Speaker 2: paddle and wades into the water. She pulls the canoe
[12:02] Speaker 2: higher onto the bank where the grass begins. There, she
[12:09] Speaker 2: slides it smoothly back until it's safe and sound. Then
[12:16] Speaker 2: she turns it upside down to dry off with a wave.
[12:22] Speaker 2: She says good night to the canoe and continues making
[12:26] Speaker 2: her way back to the bunk house. But before she
[12:32] Speaker 2: gets there, Jennifer notices that someone has left out their
[12:37] Speaker 2: archery equipment. A group of arrows sits in the sand,
[12:42] Speaker 2: and one of the bulls is lying next to it.
[12:47] Speaker 2: It would be good for her to put these away
[12:49] Speaker 2: so they're safe until morning, she thinks. As she starts
[12:55] Speaker 2: to pick them up. Jennifer can't help but take one
[12:58] Speaker 2: of the arrows and put it in the bow. She
[13:03] Speaker 2: pulls back the bowstring until it stretched taut. She takes
[13:08] Speaker 2: aim at the target, which hangs over a belle of hay.
[13:14] Speaker 2: Closing one eye for focus, she lets the arrow fly
[13:18] Speaker 2: and it hits the bull's eye. She smiles at this,
[13:24] Speaker 2: feeling accomplished. Then she gathers up the rest of the
[13:29] Speaker 2: arrows and the bowl, placing them together in a plastic
[13:33] Speaker 2: bucket for storage. Then she whispers good night. When she
[13:42] Speaker 2: looks up at the sky again, she sees that the
[13:46] Speaker 2: sun has started to fall behind the trees. The entire
[13:52] Speaker 2: camp is bathed in a pretty pink glow. Overhead Nee,
[14:00] Speaker 2: he sees a faint crescent moon and the first of
[14:04] Speaker 2: the stars and planets beginning to shine. It makes her
[14:09] Speaker 2: wonder what it would be like to fly away into
[14:13] Speaker 2: the sky like a rocket ship. Maybe that's what she'll
[14:18] Speaker 2: dream about tonight, she thinks. Jennifer continues walking toward the
[14:26] Speaker 2: main camp buildings, her home for the summer. She makes
[14:32] Speaker 2: her way straight for bunk House B, where her sleeping bag,
[14:37] Speaker 2: stuffed animal, and favorite pillow are waiting for her. It
[14:43] Speaker 2: stands next to the biggest pine tree she's ever seen.
[14:49] Speaker 2: On windy days, the needles fall onto its sloping roof
[14:54] Speaker 2: like snowflakes. But Jennifer doesn't make it to the bunk
[15:00] Speaker 2: house quite yet. That's because she sees that someone has
[15:05] Speaker 2: left the gate to the horse stables open. One of
[15:09] Speaker 2: the horses has gotten out and is now standing in
[15:12] Speaker 2: a patch of grass, munching away on an evening snack.
[15:18] Speaker 2: This grass is normally used for playing soccer or freeze tag,
[15:23] Speaker 2: with campers running this way and that. Now, Jennifer appreciates
[15:30] Speaker 2: the horse all by itself, looking like it owns the field.
[15:36] Speaker 2: Its brown tail swishes lightly back and forth as it chews,
[15:44] Speaker 2: careful not to surprise the horse. As she approaches, Jennifer
[15:48] Speaker 2: makes a clicking sound with her tongue that she recently
[15:52] Speaker 2: learned to do. The horse recognizes that she's calling to it,
[16:00] Speaker 2: even though it's reluctant to give up its meal. It
[16:03] Speaker 2: turns to face her, and when Jennifer takes hold of
[16:08] Speaker 2: its reins, the horse walks patiently with her back to
[16:12] Speaker 2: the stables. Soon it joins the rest of the horses,
[16:19] Speaker 2: drinking some water. Inside, Jennifer says good night to the
[16:24] Speaker 2: horse and its friends, and she says the same to
[16:28] Speaker 2: the chickens in the nearby coop and to the sweet
[16:31] Speaker 2: barncat whose name is Snuffles. Jennifer pauses outside the stable
[16:39] Speaker 2: doors to take a deep breath. Her mind begins to
[16:44] Speaker 2: calm as the stillness of the evening surrounds her. A
[16:52] Speaker 2: few minutes later, she's tiptoeing into her bunk house. She
[16:58] Speaker 2: can already hear the soft breathing of her bunkmate's sleeping.
[17:05] Speaker 2: Her favorite camp counselor has just finished putting most of
[17:09] Speaker 2: the campers to bed. The counselor waves to Jennifer as
[17:15] Speaker 2: she walks quietly inside, giving her a big hug. When
[17:20] Speaker 2: she reaches the door. The counselor's hair is curly and
[17:26] Speaker 2: her glasses are as round as the lake. Then she
[17:31] Speaker 2: whispers good night to Jennifer and lets her settle into
[17:36] Speaker 2: her bunk. Jennifer slides into her sleeping bag and puts
[17:43] Speaker 2: her soft, fluffy pillow under her head. She cuddles her
[17:50] Speaker 2: stuffed animal, making sure it snuggle comfortably in bed with
[17:55] Speaker 2: the blankets tucked around it. Closing her eyes, she remembers
[18:03] Speaker 2: the wind against her face and the birds gliding through
[18:08] Speaker 2: the air. She remembers the rope sowing lazily, drifting back
[18:15] Speaker 2: and forth, and the stream burbling toward the lake. She
[18:23] Speaker 2: remembers the canoe and the bow and arrows and the
[18:28] Speaker 2: horse tucked away in its cozy stable, and she thinks
[18:34] Speaker 2: about the stars and the planets and the imaginary rocket
[18:39] Speaker 2: ship flying through space. Good Night Camp, she whispers, ever
[18:47] Speaker 2: so quietly. Then Jennifer drifts off into a deep and
[18:56] Speaker 2: happy sleeps.
[20:37] Speaker 3: Darius uses music. Has any one movie
