[0:35] Speaker 1: us here on Snuggle. Today we have a lovely retelling
[0:40] Speaker 1: of a classic fairy tale about a princess and a
[0:44] Speaker 1: magical frog. It's a tale that children all over the
[0:50] Speaker 1: world have enjoyed hearing or reading for hundreds of years,
[0:57] Speaker 1: and now it's your turn. My friend Vanessa will be
[1:03] Speaker 1: narrating it for us, so let's get nice and cozy.
[1:10] Speaker 1: Whether you're ready for a full night's rest or you're
[1:14] Speaker 1: just taking a break in your day, begin with a big,
[1:20] Speaker 1: slow breath in, hold it for a moment, and then
[1:28] Speaker 1: let it out gently. Well done. Now, cuddle up to
[1:38] Speaker 1: your plush cushion or your covers, or maybe a soft teddy,
[1:45] Speaker 1: because our story is about to start in a fairy
[1:49] Speaker 1: tale kingdom on a special sleepy night.
[2:05] Speaker 2: Once upon a time, in the land of fairy Tales,
[2:09] Speaker 2: there lived a very young princess, the youngest daughter of
[2:15] Speaker 2: a king and queen. Now that young princess had many
[2:23] Speaker 2: wonderful things. She had beautiful clothes and sparkling jewels. But
[2:31] Speaker 2: her favorite thing out of everything she had was a
[2:36] Speaker 2: golden ball that she loved to play with. So one
[2:44] Speaker 2: nice evening, the princess decided to go out for a
[2:49] Speaker 2: walk and play with her favorite ball. She put on
[2:56] Speaker 2: her bonnet that is a kind of hat, and her clogs.
[3:03] Speaker 2: Those are shoes. After all, she was a princess living
[3:09] Speaker 2: once upon a time in a fairytale land, and that
[3:14] Speaker 2: is what they wore there. Anyway, When she was all
[3:21] Speaker 2: ready to go out with her bonnet and her clogs on,
[3:25] Speaker 2: she picked up her golden ball and went outside. Her
[3:32] Speaker 2: family's palace was surrounded by woods, so the princess set
[3:38] Speaker 2: out on a walk through the shady trees. It was
[3:45] Speaker 2: a beautiful evening and the air was warm and comfortable,
[3:51] Speaker 2: so the princess walked on carrying her golden ball. After time,
[4:01] Speaker 2: she came to a spring of water. The water of
[4:07] Speaker 2: the spring was cool and fresh. It flowed up and
[4:12] Speaker 2: made a bubbling noise that sounded beautiful in the quiet woods.
[4:20] Speaker 2: The princess thought that this would be a nice place
[4:24] Speaker 2: to rest for a while, so she sat down and
[4:29] Speaker 2: looked around at the green trees. The sky was still light,
[4:37] Speaker 2: but the sun was getting lower, and the sky was
[4:41] Speaker 2: turning a darker blue that was very pretty to see
[4:46] Speaker 2: between the leaves of the trees. The princess began to
[4:54] Speaker 2: play with her golden ball. She threw it up a
[4:59] Speaker 2: little way into the air and caught it. Then she
[5:05] Speaker 2: threw it up a little higher and caught it again.
[5:11] Speaker 2: And then she threw it even higher, and again she
[5:17] Speaker 2: caught it. But then the princess threw her golden ball
[5:24] Speaker 2: way up high into the air, and this time she
[5:30] Speaker 2: couldn't catch it. Instead of landing in her open hands,
[5:37] Speaker 2: the golden ball fell onto the ground and rolled away
[5:44] Speaker 2: right into the water of the spring. Down, down, down,
[5:52] Speaker 2: It fell out of sight into the bottom of the spring.
[6:01] Speaker 2: Oh no, said the princess. She did not want to
[6:06] Speaker 2: lose her favorite toy. When she spoke, a frog peeked
[6:14] Speaker 2: up out of the spring and looked at her curiously. Now,
[6:21] Speaker 2: remember this was fairytale land, and there the animals can talk.
[6:31] Speaker 2: So the frog spoke up and asked the young princess
[6:36] Speaker 2: what was wrong. She explained that the golden ball had
[6:42] Speaker 2: fallen to the bottom of the spring and that she
[6:45] Speaker 2: would give all her jewels to have it back. I
[6:51] Speaker 2: don't want your jewels, the frog answered, but I can
[6:57] Speaker 2: get your ball for you. If you will be my
[7:01] Speaker 2: friend and let me come to live with you and
[7:06] Speaker 2: eat from your golden plate and sleep in my very
[7:11] Speaker 2: own room, I will bring you back your ball. Well,
[7:19] Speaker 2: the princess wanted her toy back, but the truth is
[7:24] Speaker 2: that she did not think the frog could get out
[7:27] Speaker 2: of the spring and come to her home. So she
[7:33] Speaker 2: did something she perhaps ought not to have done. She
[7:40] Speaker 2: promised the frog that he could come and live with
[7:44] Speaker 2: her and eat from her plate and sleep in his
[7:50] Speaker 2: very own room, even though she didn't really mean it.
[7:58] Speaker 2: Even though she didn't think she would have to keep
[8:03] Speaker 2: her promise, the frog dove down down down to the
[8:13] Speaker 2: bottom of the pond and came up with the golden
[8:19] Speaker 2: ball in his mouth. He tossed it on to the
[8:25] Speaker 2: grass beside the spring. The princess ran to pick up
[8:33] Speaker 2: her favorite toy. She was so happy to have it
[8:39] Speaker 2: back that she ran off without even a thank you
[8:44] Speaker 2: to the poor frog. The frog tried to call after
[8:51] Speaker 2: her to take him with her, but she didn't hear
[8:58] Speaker 2: a word. She just ran home with her golden ball
[9:05] Speaker 2: and went to sleep soon afterwards, all tired out from
[9:12] Speaker 2: her long walk. The next day, the princess was sitting
[9:20] Speaker 2: at the large dining room table in the palace. She
[9:26] Speaker 2: was just about to have dinner with her family when
[9:31] Speaker 2: she heard a polite knock at the door. Open the door,
[9:39] Speaker 2: my princess, dear, open the door to your true friend, here,
[9:47] Speaker 2: came a small voice from outside the door. The princess
[9:54] Speaker 2: jumped up and hurried over to the door to open it.
[10:02] Speaker 2: There she saw the frog looking up at her. She
[10:08] Speaker 2: was very surprised, and she closed the door without letting
[10:14] Speaker 2: him in. Her father, the King, asked the princess who
[10:23] Speaker 2: it was knocking at their door, so she told him
[10:28] Speaker 2: everything that had happened at the spring. When she was
[10:35] Speaker 2: done speaking, there was another knock at the door, and
[10:41] Speaker 2: the frog's voice came again. Open the door, my princess, dear,
[10:49] Speaker 2: open the door to your true friend. Here the king
[10:56] Speaker 2: had listened to his daughter's story. Now he looked at
[11:02] Speaker 2: her seriously. If you have made a promise, you must
[11:10] Speaker 2: keep it. He explained kindly to his little girl. If
[11:16] Speaker 2: this frog helped you, you must go and let him
[11:21] Speaker 2: in as you said you would. At that, the princess
[11:28] Speaker 2: got up and went back across the room to open
[11:34] Speaker 2: the door to the little frog. Well, as soon as
[11:41] Speaker 2: she opened the door, the frog hopped right into the
[11:47] Speaker 2: room and had it straight to the table, where he
[11:52] Speaker 2: asked the princess to lift him up onto the chair
[11:57] Speaker 2: beside her. Then he asked her to move her golden
[12:04] Speaker 2: plate a little nearer so that he could eat off
[12:08] Speaker 2: it too, just as the princess had promised. So, the
[12:17] Speaker 2: little frog and the young princess shared their dinner, eating
[12:23] Speaker 2: off the golden plate, until their bellies were full and
[12:29] Speaker 2: they were beginning to feel sleepy. The princess opened her
[12:37] Speaker 2: little girl mouth and yond a big white yond then,
[12:45] Speaker 2: and the frog opened his frog mouth and beyond a
[12:50] Speaker 2: big yon too. Stretching sleepily, the frog asked the princess
[13:01] Speaker 2: to carry him upstairs so he could go to sleep
[13:06] Speaker 2: in his very own room. Just as she had promised,
[13:15] Speaker 2: The princess sighed and picked up the little frog. She
[13:21] Speaker 2: took him to his room, where he went right to
[13:26] Speaker 2: sleep on a silk cushion. In her own room. The
[13:34] Speaker 2: princess laid her head on her soft pillow and pulled
[13:42] Speaker 2: her cozy blankets up around her as snug as could be.
[13:50] Speaker 2: She was very tired, and she drifted off to sleep
[13:57] Speaker 2: almost as quickly as the frog. Well. The next morning,
[14:07] Speaker 2: the frog got out of bed just as soon as
[14:12] Speaker 2: the sun came up and shone in the windows of
[14:17] Speaker 2: his room. He hopped out of the palace and disappeared
[14:24] Speaker 2: into the woods. Seeing him go, the princess thought that
[14:33] Speaker 2: was the end of it, and that she would not
[14:37] Speaker 2: see the frog again, But as it turned out, that
[14:45] Speaker 2: is not what happened. For that night she again heard
[14:53] Speaker 2: the knock at the door, and the voice saying, opened
[14:59] Speaker 2: the door, my princess, dear, open the door to your
[15:05] Speaker 2: true friend here. So once more the frog came in.
[15:14] Speaker 2: Once more, he shared the princess's dinner, eating off of
[15:21] Speaker 2: her golden plate, and then slept in his very own
[15:27] Speaker 2: room at night. The same thing happened again the next
[15:34] Speaker 2: day too. The frog hopped off as soon as the
[15:41] Speaker 2: daylight shone in through the palace windows, But that night
[15:50] Speaker 2: he came back and knocked at the door again. He
[15:56] Speaker 2: ate from the princess's golden place and slept in his
[16:03] Speaker 2: room just like before. The Next morning, though, things changed.
[16:14] Speaker 2: When the princess woke up to the sunshine streaming in
[16:20] Speaker 2: her window and went to check on the frog. She
[16:26] Speaker 2: was very much surprised. That was because the frog was gone,
[16:36] Speaker 2: and in his place was a handsome young prince with
[16:42] Speaker 2: the kindest eyes she had ever seen. The prince explained
[16:51] Speaker 2: to her that a fairy had put him under a
[16:56] Speaker 2: magic spell that had turned him in to a frog.
[17:03] Speaker 2: Only a princess could break the spell and turn him
[17:09] Speaker 2: back into a prince, and the way she could break
[17:15] Speaker 2: the spell was by letting him eat from her plate
[17:22] Speaker 2: and live in her palace, even though she thought he
[17:28] Speaker 2: was just a frog. And that is just what the
[17:35] Speaker 2: princess had done. She had let the frog eat from
[17:42] Speaker 2: her golden plate and share her palace, even though she
[17:50] Speaker 2: thought he was just a frog, So she had ended
[18:00] Speaker 2: the magic spell and turned him back into a prince again.
[18:10] Speaker 2: After that, the young princess and the no longer a
[18:17] Speaker 2: frog prince lived happily ever after. And I don't know
[18:30] Speaker 2: about you, but I am guessing that they were both
[18:36] Speaker 2: very kind to any frogs they happened to meet. After that.
