[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome to immersion. You have reached stratifor the zoners meeting strangers.
[0:05] Speaker 1: There is an old saying from when the world had
[0:07] Speaker 1: stories made of paper that you cannot judge a book
[0:09] Speaker 1: by its cover, but sometimes without metadata, the cover is
[0:13] Speaker 1: all you have to show. The secrets within humans understand
[0:17] Speaker 1: that a person's demeanor and outward profile can reveal something
[0:20] Speaker 1: of their intent. There is a sort of human telepathy
[0:23] Speaker 1: that is not born of scientific facts. It is intrinsic,
[0:27] Speaker 1: passed down through culture and evolution, a hidden, in secretive
[0:31] Speaker 1: code of social understanding. But how would an android make
[0:35] Speaker 1: sense of the tiny signals that humans pick up on,
[0:39] Speaker 1: the millions of minute evolving syntax and expressions that create
[0:42] Speaker 1: conscious and subconscious feelings in hunches. These are essential to humans,
[0:47] Speaker 1: but less easy to create or mimic in even advance
[0:50] Speaker 1: computerized systems. How do these assumptions translate across time and cultures?
[0:56] Speaker 1: How do machines function successfully within complex human scenarios? Strangers
[1:01] Speaker 1: are unpredictable, dangerous, and likely to be in control. A
[1:05] Speaker 1: deeper understanding of the unknown without evidence is the ability
[1:09] Speaker 1: to immediately resonate with individuals without reason. It would seem
[1:13] Speaker 1: that The bigger the data, the less the machines are
[1:16] Speaker 1: able to explain these innate human idiosyncrasies. In the attempt
[1:21] Speaker 1: to create a facsimile of a human, the machines move
[1:24] Speaker 1: further away from the truth. Riniki kicked the robodog and
[1:28] Speaker 1: it went flying high up into the air. It fell
[1:31] Speaker 1: to the ground with a metallic crash, scattering its parts
[1:34] Speaker 1: asunder and making mechanical screeching sounds that made people stare.
[1:39] Speaker 1: There was a general momentary hush as everyone realized Rinuki
[1:43] Speaker 1: should be avoided. Maybeleine climbed inside the leather coat to
[1:47] Speaker 1: keep out of any ensuing danger. The robodog made several
[1:50] Speaker 1: bleeping sounds and drew its broken metallic components back onto
[1:53] Speaker 1: its magnetic mainframe. Finally, after a thirty second system reboot,
[1:57] Speaker 1: it got up and shook its fake hair, once again,
[2:00] Speaker 1: assembling a near perfect dog. As Renika walked on, the
[2:04] Speaker 1: dog remained at heel, obedient, quiet and protective. They were
[2:09] Speaker 1: now given room to move into the throng. No one
[2:12] Speaker 1: made eye contact, and as if by some telepathic communication,
[2:15] Speaker 1: everyone shared a nervousness around the new stranger, the dodgy
[2:19] Speaker 1: looking man offering bits and Nibs reappeared and was running
[2:22] Speaker 1: at Rennicki's side. My name is Flex. You need anything, man,
[2:26] Speaker 1: I got your back, for sure, for sure, I can
[2:29] Speaker 1: do all sorts. I got connects in it. I know
[2:32] Speaker 1: these streets. I'm a good worker, good mugger too, should
[2:35] Speaker 1: you ever need one, Got drugs, got tools, all sorts.
[2:40] Speaker 1: Survived like a pro all my life on the mean streets.
[2:44] Speaker 1: People like you need people like me. No one knows
[2:46] Speaker 1: the zones like us. Erch Rennicky walked on, ignoring his
[2:50] Speaker 1: now irritating companion, who was running flanking left to right,
[2:54] Speaker 1: talking and panting all at once as he tried to
[2:56] Speaker 1: keep up. A child approached renick scam showed him to
[3:00] Speaker 1: be a human boy around seven years old. Hey, mister
[3:04] Speaker 1: nice man from the bright side, spare some bits for
[3:06] Speaker 1: a hungry blind child. Rennicki looked down and saw a
[3:09] Speaker 1: large black hole where the boy's eye had been. The
[3:12] Speaker 1: other eye was weepy and red. The boy's face was
[3:16] Speaker 1: scarred from historic deep cut wounds, and he appeared to
[3:19] Speaker 1: be missing an arm. Rennicki had seen images of similar
[3:22] Speaker 1: wounds from the Russia China Wars, but they had ended
[3:25] Speaker 1: many years before. Give the boy something, Rennicki scowled at Flex. Flex,
[3:31] Speaker 1: somewhat weary after seeing the incident with the dog, dug
[3:34] Speaker 1: deep into a pocket and reluctantly gave the boy a
[3:37] Speaker 1: bit piece. Now fucks you off, you little shit, said
[3:40] Speaker 1: Flex in a disgruntled manner. You can't trust these beggars,
[3:44] Speaker 1: you know they have owners and gangs, Flex informed Renick
[3:48] Speaker 1: in a hushed, all knowing tone. The street was lined
[3:51] Speaker 1: with ramshackle stalls and shops. They were noisy and crowded
[3:56] Speaker 1: with the bustling activities of theatrical looking people. Some had
[4:00] Speaker 1: animals on leads or on their shoulders, monkeys and parrots,
[4:04] Speaker 1: the like of which Riniki had never come across in
[4:06] Speaker 1: his massive database. Most had tribal markings on their faces.
[4:12] Speaker 1: Others wore decorated eye wear, styled spectacles, masks, and headgear.
[4:17] Speaker 1: The attire seemed so impractical to Riniki, who had always
[4:19] Speaker 1: worn the same clothes and had aspired to a streamlined functionality,
[4:23] Speaker 1: but he was rather enjoying his new coat. A woman approached.
[4:28] Speaker 1: She was dressed in bright, colorful headgear and boots with
[4:31] Speaker 1: huge feathers and sequins. She had some kind of cat
[4:34] Speaker 1: on a lead. Riniki engaged pos focusing on the cloth
[4:38] Speaker 1: Pertraline brand name for a fabric made from plastics non
[4:42] Speaker 1: biodegradable color fast banned in twenty fifty, problematic for any
[4:47] Speaker 1: practical landfill solutions. Then he queried the face coverings. It
[4:53] Speaker 1: is thought likely that tribal face markings in the zones
[4:55] Speaker 1: are used mostly to avoid face recognition from satellites and coverts.
[5:01] Speaker 1: Different factions, tribes, and even ad hoc groups have adopted
[5:04] Speaker 1: more uniform styles, which signal gang and other connections. These
[5:09] Speaker 1: signals change regularly to avoid detection and discovery. It is
[5:13] Speaker 1: understood that the underground activities that connect tribes, gangs, and
[5:16] Speaker 1: families have adopted coated clothing and other paraphernalia. Information is unconfirmed.
[5:23] Speaker 1: These are theoretical assumptions based on data stripped whenever possible
[5:27] Speaker 1: from prisoners or members of subversive factions. The woman with
[5:31] Speaker 1: the cat stops Rinicki in his tracks. Her cat stares
[5:34] Speaker 1: at him, making eye contact and edging forward. Riniki also stops, Hey, mister,
[5:39] Speaker 1: come on man, you must need something. You want some toggies.
[5:43] Speaker 1: I swapped the coat for a nice jacket. I got
[5:45] Speaker 1: me just yesterday, Renicki shook his head with one eye
[5:48] Speaker 1: on the cat, who was looking restless. You want some
[5:51] Speaker 1: tits and ass maybe food, man, you look hungry and
[5:55] Speaker 1: you skinny moves. Rinicki sidestepped the woman and continued walking,
[5:59] Speaker 1: not really sure what she meant. The dialect was a
[6:02] Speaker 1: strange mix of unknown words and rhythmic intonation, almost song.
[6:06] Speaker 1: Like a bank maybe or a charge point, shouted the woman.
[6:10] Speaker 1: As Rennicke moved on, he stopped suddenly and queried, there's
[6:14] Speaker 1: a bank, of course, said the woman. What you take
[6:16] Speaker 1: us for wild ignorant animals? She laughed hysterically at her
[6:20] Speaker 1: own joke, and Rennicki smiled. The cat finally stopped staring. Yes,
[6:24] Speaker 1: I need a bank, said Renniki. Come with me, said
[6:27] Speaker 1: the woman, to be continued
