Long-time pals, Eric and Mac talk about bombing as a musician. Mac discusses his most epic fail of all time which involves being in a gargoyle stance on an amp. Plus, they reminisce about their time at Coachella 2015 and how it has evolved over the years. A word of caution to this episode: don't drink too many gin martinis. [0:15] Speaker 1: Crazy talented. He's toured all over the world and shared
[0:18] Speaker 1: his music amongst endless fans like passing out pieces and
[0:21] Speaker 1: freaking out the neighborhood. Let's time to this conversation about
[0:24] Speaker 1: his life on the road and what wild shit he's
[0:26] Speaker 1: scene on stage. Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast

[0:47] Speaker 1: Eric Andre. So what's the worst you've ever bombed?
[0:50] Speaker 2: I have a list with are there's some you know?
[0:52] Speaker 2: I was thinking about it.
[0:53] Speaker 1: The three questions I asked every guest what's the worst
[0:55] Speaker 1: ever bombed on stage? What's the worst bomb you've ever seen?
[0:59] Speaker 2: Like?
[1:00] Speaker 1: I once saw cap Power live and she ripped their
[1:02] Speaker 1: piano and a half or whatever it is. I just
[1:04] Speaker 1: made that story up. So what's the worst you've ever bob?
[1:07] Speaker 1: What's the worst bomb you've ever seen? And what is
[1:09] Speaker 1: the most wasted you've ever been on stage? You know?
[1:13] Speaker 1: I had one guest on whose answer to that last
[1:17] Speaker 1: question was on stage with Mac DeMarco, was really, yeah,
[1:21] Speaker 1: DJ DJ Doug Pound, Oh yeah, that's the most waste
[1:25] Speaker 1: you've been on stage? You had like the little beer
[1:27] Speaker 1: section or something you'd.
[1:28] Speaker 3: Have people see it's called the bestro table. You sit
[1:33] Speaker 3: people on stage and get them wasted. He doesn't drink
[1:36] Speaker 3: that much, he said. He got hammered out of his
[1:38] Speaker 3: mind and then out of nowhere. You were like, Doug,
[1:39] Speaker 3: why don't you get on the drums and play through
[1:42] Speaker 3: this next? And he was like he's not a drummer.
[1:46] Speaker 3: He rarely drinks.
[1:48] Speaker 1: And he was like annihilated in front of a fucking
[1:51] Speaker 1: arena of billions of fans. Just yeah, fucking you're years ago,
[1:57] Speaker 1: but you were like you were, You're happy as a clam.
[1:59] Speaker 2: That's I mean, you know, it's like I don't. It's
[2:01] Speaker 2: funny because yeah, probably my worst bomb and the drunks
[2:04] Speaker 2: I've ever been those might be the same story.
[2:06] Speaker 1: We'll tell us a tell.
[2:07] Speaker 2: There's like so many times I was thinking about it too,
[2:09] Speaker 2: because it's like, you know, I think about what it
[2:12] Speaker 2: means to bomb in comedy versus music, and it's like
[2:16] Speaker 2: I feel like there's a difference where, you know, like
[2:21] Speaker 2: in music, I feel like there's a soft bomb, like
[2:23] Speaker 2: if you play a song that the crowd doesn't really
[2:25] Speaker 2: know or they don't really care, you play it and
[2:26] Speaker 2: they're like okay, right, and it's like that's kind of bombing.
[2:29] Speaker 2: But then there's like the kind of you know, then
[2:31] Speaker 2: there's like some of these stories that I'll tell you
[2:33] Speaker 2: here where it's like savagely something savage happens and everyone's
[2:37] Speaker 2: kind of.
[2:37] Speaker 1: Like what it's like, yeah, yeah, like like when Prince
[2:41] Speaker 1: used to open up for the Rolling Stones and people
[2:43] Speaker 1: would throw bottles.
[2:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be like got off that stage. And
[2:48] Speaker 2: then with you know, I don't know, comedy, it's like
[2:50] Speaker 2: you such, it's like such a closer connection or it's
[2:53] Speaker 2: like a more intimate connection, I think, or like I
[2:55] Speaker 2: don't know, person, I don't know, it depends, but let's see.
[2:58] Speaker 2: I have a little list here. I was thinking the
[3:00] Speaker 2: there was one instance we played at we were doing
[3:03] Speaker 2: I think three nights at the Teargram Ballroom just downtown
[3:06] Speaker 2: in LA And the first night, I don't really know
[3:10] Speaker 2: why it happened. I don't know what happened, but I
[3:13] Speaker 2: got like really really really drunk on stage and I
[3:18] Speaker 2: was in a bit of a mood. Sometimes you get
[3:20] Speaker 2: into mood, you know, I write these songs that mean
[3:22] Speaker 2: something to me. You know, it's like sometimes you get
[3:24] Speaker 2: you get emotional, which I think, I think those are
[3:27] Speaker 2: the best kinds of show. Like, here's the thing too
[3:28] Speaker 2: about this show is like some of my friends will
[3:30] Speaker 2: be like Jesus Christ, like what was that? And then
[3:32] Speaker 2: other other friends will be like that was the most
[3:34] Speaker 2: the best show I've ever seen you do. But I
[3:37] Speaker 2: guess essentially what happened we I think we kind of
[3:39] Speaker 2: stumbled through most of the set, and then we got
[3:43] Speaker 2: to this point where we were kind of jamming up there,
[3:46] Speaker 2: and I had taken my shirt off and I was
[3:51] Speaker 2: kind of crouched like a gargoyle on top of my amp,
[3:53] Speaker 2: like staring out at the audience, and I had I
[3:55] Speaker 2: had made everybody sit down, and they were all sitting down,
[3:59] Speaker 2: and for a long time, I would I was turned
[4:00] Speaker 2: and the bestro table was right there, like we were
[4:02] Speaker 2: talking about with Doug Pound. But I was turned around
[4:04] Speaker 2: for a while and I had the microphone in my mouth,
[4:07] Speaker 2: like the whole bulb of it, and I was just
[4:08] Speaker 2: screaming and screaming into it. And then I turned around.
[4:11] Speaker 2: Kids would try to get up and I'd be like,
[4:13] Speaker 2: it's not like fucked like And at one point I
[4:16] Speaker 2: put a cigarette out on my chest. Yeah, the scar
[4:21] Speaker 2: is here. If you can see that, that little white patch,
[4:24] Speaker 2: the scar is there. Yeah, but I put this smoke
[4:26] Speaker 2: out of my chest like fully pushed in, which I
[4:29] Speaker 2: had never done before. It really hurts. I mean I
[4:31] Speaker 2: didn't really feel at the time. Next day was horrible,
[4:33] Speaker 2: but Drigger whiskey, Yeah, Jamison used to be my weapon
[4:36] Speaker 2: of choice. But there was all of that, and I
[4:39] Speaker 2: remember just and it was getting to the point where
[4:41] Speaker 2: it was kind of like the music wasn't even sounding
[4:42] Speaker 2: like music anymore. People had been sitting on the ground
[4:44] Speaker 2: for a long time. It was just confusing. And then
[4:48] Speaker 2: my mom and my mom wasn't there, and I'll get
[4:50] Speaker 2: to that, but there was one girl in the middle
[4:52] Speaker 2: of the crowd and she I remember she stood up
[4:56] Speaker 2: and everyone uls was on the ground it's probably you know,
[4:58] Speaker 2: like six hundred person venue or something like. You know,
[5:00] Speaker 2: she stood up and she was weeping, and she just
[5:03] Speaker 2: spent what the fuck are you doing? Bag?
[5:11] Speaker 1: And then.
[5:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, deeply, deeply disturbed.
[5:19] Speaker 1: She wanted she wanted some nice tunes. You were like,
[5:21] Speaker 1: g it was.
[5:24] Speaker 2: It was so brutal and yeah, and then the next
[5:26] Speaker 2: you know, the show finished, we went home. I remember
[5:28] Speaker 2: getting a call from my mom in the morning that
[5:30] Speaker 2: I was being like, is everything all right, sweetheart? Like
[5:33] Speaker 2: it had made the rounds of the internet, like Mac
[5:35] Speaker 2: played a real raw one last night.
[5:36] Speaker 1: You know, it's just okay, O, no are concerned for you?
[5:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. But then the show we did the next
[5:44] Speaker 2: night there was great, so you know, it was redeemed,
[5:46] Speaker 2: I guess. But I remember pulling up to the venue
[5:48] Speaker 2: that like the next day, because it's a residency, it's
[5:51] Speaker 2: not even like we did this insane thing and we
[5:53] Speaker 2: can just leave town. It's like nope, coming back the
[5:55] Speaker 2: next night, pulling in and one of the guys that
[5:57] Speaker 2: worked at the venue is like, pretty interesting show last night, man.
[6:00] Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, yeah, pretty weird, and he just
[6:02] Speaker 2: went prett embarrassing and I went.
[6:04] Speaker 1: Oh, really, he said that to you.
[6:07] Speaker 2: That's rude. I mean, you know, whatever would.
[6:11] Speaker 1: He say that to the fucking artist that has a residency.
[6:15] Speaker 1: What are you gonna do? Keep that tearsself, I don't
[6:18] Speaker 1: agree with that guy. That's fucking passive aggressive. That'n't even
[6:22] Speaker 1: passive agresses. That's aggressive.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess so, But you know what, I don't know.
[6:25] Speaker 1: I'm sensitive to that kind of shit. One time I
[6:27] Speaker 1: was doing stand up in Alabama and I spilled ranch
[6:30] Speaker 1: salad dressing all over the stage. And the guy that
[6:33] Speaker 1: ran he wasn't even the guy that ran the club.
[6:36] Speaker 1: He was just like a random guy that worked there.
[6:39] Speaker 1: Was so angry at me and mopped between I had
[6:42] Speaker 1: like a eight o'clock show and a ten o'clock show,
[6:44] Speaker 1: And then he took out a mop bucket and he
[6:47] Speaker 1: stared daggers at me as he mop up the ranch.
[6:51] Speaker 1: That wasn't that much, honestly, it was like besides of
[6:53] Speaker 1: a dinner plate. Yeah, And I was like, okay, I'm sorry,
[6:56] Speaker 1: and I went and I grabbed the mop and I
[6:58] Speaker 1: mopped the rest of the the ranch up and like
[7:01] Speaker 1: finished the mopping, and then and then I mopped the
[7:04] Speaker 1: second show. Its like it's going to happen again at
[7:05] Speaker 1: the second show, and I mopped the other one and
[7:07] Speaker 1: he was still poudy about it. I was like, the
[7:10] Speaker 1: fuck you Alabama man.
[7:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Some people just don't have you know.
[7:15] Speaker 2: I remember there was a kid. There was a kid.
[7:17] Speaker 2: Where were we in DC? I think? And we played.
[7:20] Speaker 2: He was really excited to he was working at the show.
[7:22] Speaker 2: I think he was doing merch for us, and I
[7:24] Speaker 2: used to do this thing where I hit the microphone
[7:26] Speaker 2: into my chest like this just I don't know why,
[7:28] Speaker 2: some kind of caveman shit or whatever. But after the show,
[7:32] Speaker 2: I went up to go say like, oh, thank you
[7:34] Speaker 2: so much, like if you want any merch, like you know,
[7:36] Speaker 2: like that, you know, thank you so much for working
[7:38] Speaker 2: with us. But he was like disturbed by me because
[7:40] Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know, maybe he has some I
[7:42] Speaker 2: don't know what it is, but he thought that they
[7:44] Speaker 2: were gunning shots every time. I was just kind of like,
[7:48] Speaker 2: it's a mac Marco's show. You know, It's like we're
[7:50] Speaker 2: not you know, it's like it's not even I don't know.
[7:52] Speaker 2: Maybe maybe he had an experience that made him feel
[7:54] Speaker 2: uncomfortable in that way. But it was kind of like,
[7:56] Speaker 2: you don't know. He wouldn't even look at me after
[7:57] Speaker 2: the show, and I was kind of man like, I
[8:00] Speaker 2: don't know.
[8:01] Speaker 1: So what is this bestro table? Do you serve food there?
[8:04] Speaker 2: The bistro table was invented at this venue in Toronto
[8:09] Speaker 2: years ago, probably in like two thousand and eight or nine.
[8:11] Speaker 2: One of the first tours I ever went on this
[8:13] Speaker 2: venue called the Horseshoe Tavern Legendary Tour at Toronto Venue,
[8:16] Speaker 2: and it was kind of like, you know, I used
[8:18] Speaker 2: to I don't know, It's like it's like whin. I
[8:21] Speaker 2: had some friends and it was like we put a
[8:23] Speaker 2: table on the stage and I bought them some pictures
[8:25] Speaker 2: and they just sat there while we played and they
[8:28] Speaker 2: get to enjoy. Yeah, they get to enjoy this shit.
[8:30] Speaker 2: It's like the ultimate VIP experience, you know. And it
[8:33] Speaker 2: kind of snowballed. And we've been doing it for years
[8:36] Speaker 2: and years and years.
[8:36] Speaker 1: Do you still do it?
[8:37] Speaker 2: We will do it?
[8:38] Speaker 1: Yeah? Do you do it every show?
[8:40] Speaker 2: It depends.
[8:41] Speaker 1: I want to be on the b strow table.
[8:43] Speaker 2: Next time we play in La can be at the Beast?
[8:45] Speaker 1: Can I make little drinks?
[8:46] Speaker 2: Yeah? Well that's the thing. Sometimes the promoters are really
[8:49] Speaker 2: about it, and they're like, there's this one guy in
[8:51] Speaker 2: France actually that does our shows there and he gets
[8:52] Speaker 2: a nice tablecloth and he gets flowers and the food.
[8:56] Speaker 1: I loved that.
[8:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, the only problem is sometimes we don't, you know,
[9:00] Speaker 2: I need to put like little speakers over there, because
[9:02] Speaker 2: when you're standing on the side of the stage and
[9:03] Speaker 2: there's no pa like, it just kind of sounds like
[9:05] Speaker 2: you're like, well, I'm at the show, but I can't
[9:07] Speaker 2: hear it down then it's going. So it's like kind
[9:09] Speaker 2: of the you know, the shittiest place to watch from,
[9:12] Speaker 2: but it's also tight. But but yeah, no, it's been Actually,
[9:16] Speaker 2: there's an interesting story about the be Strow table in
[9:18] Speaker 2: La that long time ago, probably like seven years ago.
[9:21] Speaker 2: We were playing a couple of nights at the Fonda
[9:23] Speaker 2: and there was a kid i'd met him at on
[9:26] Speaker 2: the street in Highland Park, I think maybe in front
[9:28] Speaker 2: of Future Music or or some music store something, and
[9:31] Speaker 2: him and his girlfriend. I was like, oh, you come
[9:33] Speaker 2: to the show, no problem, And I got them on
[9:34] Speaker 2: the guests as they came, and they came and sat
[9:37] Speaker 2: at the Bestrow table and I think they're, like Doug
[9:39] Speaker 2: was saying, like they I don't know if they drank
[9:41] Speaker 2: that much, but there's a lot of booze around and they.
[9:43] Speaker 1: Is it fans. There's friends of yours at the be
[9:45] Speaker 1: Stow table.
[9:46] Speaker 2: Friends usually fan. I don't know. It's kind of like
[9:48] Speaker 2: whoever is or it depends, you know, now it's usually friends,
[9:52] Speaker 2: I would say, but you know, it just depends. But
[9:55] Speaker 2: they were sitting up there and yeah, and the kid
[9:57] Speaker 2: got hammered, and I, you know, I didn't see him
[10:00] Speaker 2: till after the show. Well, yeah I didn't. I noticed
[10:02] Speaker 2: he was kind of drunk at the table, but there
[10:03] Speaker 2: was like twenty five people at the table or something.
[10:05] Speaker 2: So anyway, I go finish the show. Great rock show, really,
[10:09] Speaker 2: you know, nailed it home. Everyone was loving the rock music.
[10:12] Speaker 2: And I go down the stairs and I see the
[10:15] Speaker 2: kid's girlfriend and there's a stretcher and there's the kid
[10:18] Speaker 2: and they're pulling the white sheet over his head. And
[10:20] Speaker 2: I was like, oh god, your like someone died at
[10:23] Speaker 2: my show. But no, he wasn't dead. He wasn't dead.
[10:26] Speaker 2: He was just he had like alcohol poisoning or something,
[10:28] Speaker 2: or you know, had like thrown up or something. They
[10:30] Speaker 2: were taking him out, like I don't know why the
[10:33] Speaker 2: white sheet, but it was like I was like kidding, Yeah,
[10:36] Speaker 2: it was crazy. I was coming off this light. I
[10:38] Speaker 2: was like, yes, like I'm a rock star. Then you
[10:40] Speaker 2: go downstairs like oh my god, like like right at
[10:42] Speaker 2: the bottom of the stairs. It was so brutal, but uh, yeah,
[10:46] Speaker 2: it's pretty. You know the beastra table sometimes good, sometimes bad.
[10:51] Speaker 1: That's cool. It's SUPERBCT. So you're putting cigarettes out on yourself. Yeah,
[10:59] Speaker 1: and then the guy the next day said that was
[11:01] Speaker 1: embarrassing or whatever. Did you go into the next set
[11:04] Speaker 1: the second day like straight as an arrow sober or
[11:08] Speaker 1: were you still in that mode where you were like
[11:12] Speaker 1: like iggy pop like on PCP.
[11:15] Speaker 2: No, it was more sober. The next night was like
[11:17] Speaker 2: really wholesome somehow, like John c Riley introduced us and
[11:21] Speaker 2: we had well your bass player one time before he
[11:23] Speaker 2: stopped page right Pierce Pierce yea.
[11:27] Speaker 1: He used to drink. He was so drunk. One time
[11:30] Speaker 1: at the bar he stuck all four fingers up. My
[11:32] Speaker 1: ass cracked. When I was talking to with Gal at
[11:35] Speaker 1: the bar. Out of nowhere, he like crammed and he
[11:38] Speaker 1: wanted to stop. He was like trying to cram his
[11:41] Speaker 1: like hand into my ass and I was like, and
[11:44] Speaker 1: I was so drunk and it was so violating and shocking.
[11:49] Speaker 1: I like snapped on him. I was like, get the
[11:50] Speaker 1: fuck away, and he was like.
[11:55] Speaker 2: And then I don't even know if I would have
[11:57] Speaker 2: been there for that.
[11:59] Speaker 1: You weren't there. You were And then like the next
[12:01] Speaker 1: week he came out of my house and I play
[12:03] Speaker 1: upright bass, and it's expensive instrument, and it's it's a
[12:07] Speaker 1: it's a fragile instrument, a cheap upright bas is ten
[12:10] Speaker 1: thousand dollars and they go up, yeah, two hundred and
[12:13] Speaker 1: fifty k. You know, my teachers, the bases they played,
[12:16] Speaker 1: they had to take that mortgages from the bank basis.
[12:18] Speaker 1: It's expensive instrument. I don't mind people playing it, but
[12:20] Speaker 1: you gotta be a little bit careful. He's wasted and
[12:22] Speaker 1: he's like grabbing it, he's flopping it around and just
[12:26] Speaker 1: you know, six days ago, stuck all four fingers in
[12:28] Speaker 1: my ass. I was like, get out of my house.
[12:30] Speaker 1: I kicked him out of my house. I kicked out.
[12:33] Speaker 1: I was like, get away from me.
[12:36] Speaker 2: Well, he's not drinking anymore, making for the bask Yeah.
[12:38] Speaker 1: The next time I saw he was like, oh yeah,
[12:40] Speaker 1: I don't drink anymore. You know.
[12:43] Speaker 2: That's what happens sometimes when you when you when you
[12:45] Speaker 2: finish all of your allot of drinks and then you know,
[12:48] Speaker 2: there's all his drinks. He finished all his drinks real early.
[12:51] Speaker 2: God bless them, yeah.
[12:52] Speaker 3: God bless but what he was drinking, he was like,
[12:55] Speaker 3: fucking goddamn.
[12:57] Speaker 1: Jerry Lee Lewis Great Balls of Fire.
[12:59] Speaker 2: A great story of Pierce. Once we were playing in Australia.
[13:02] Speaker 2: This is kind of a bomb, I guess, but Pierce
[13:04] Speaker 2: and Andy, Pierce, we used to used to get into
[13:07] Speaker 2: quite a mood on stage sometimes too. I love this
[13:09] Speaker 2: man still today. He's one of my best friends. But
[13:11] Speaker 2: but he there was a night we were playing in
[13:13] Speaker 2: Australia and it was near the end of the show
[13:16] Speaker 2: and him and my guitarist Andy were looking at each
[13:19] Speaker 2: other and Pierce was kind of he was just not
[13:21] Speaker 2: having it, like he was just not having a good
[13:22] Speaker 2: time on stage, didn't want to be there. And Andy
[13:25] Speaker 2: was kind of egging him on, like why do you
[13:26] Speaker 2: just leave then? Like why don't you go? Like come on,
[13:28] Speaker 2: like what are you gonna do? You know? And Pierce
[13:30] Speaker 2: was like fuck it, and he took his bass off
[13:33] Speaker 2: and left the stage. I didn't even notice, yeah, but
[13:36] Speaker 2: like right near the end of the show and I
[13:37] Speaker 2: was like, oh, I didn't really know what's going on.
[13:39] Speaker 2: So I got there was that some of the guys
[13:40] Speaker 2: from that band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard were there.
[13:42] Speaker 2: So this guy Cookie, I was like, Cooky, cook, get
[13:44] Speaker 2: up here and play the last song. He was like,
[13:46] Speaker 2: I don't know, and I was like, it'll be fine.
[13:47] Speaker 2: Dorn Pierce left and he went to the green room
[13:51] Speaker 2: and he grabbed two beers and ahead of broccoli for
[13:53] Speaker 2: some reason, just really drunk and was like I'm out
[13:56] Speaker 2: of here and tried to leave out the front door,
[13:59] Speaker 2: and the bouncer was like, you can't take those beers
[14:01] Speaker 2: out of here, and he's liked make me and the
[14:03] Speaker 2: guy grabbed the beers out the bottom, so it like slashed,
[14:06] Speaker 2: you know, the little beer bottle capital slashed his like
[14:09] Speaker 2: tendon hero open. There was blood all over the place.
[14:12] Speaker 2: I don't know what he was doing with the broccoli.
[14:14] Speaker 2: But the next day we were supposed to go to
[14:15] Speaker 2: that like wildlife conservatory place where you like hold the
[14:19] Speaker 2: koalas and stuff. And I remember in the morning waking
[14:21] Speaker 2: up and I hadn't seen him for the rest of
[14:23] Speaker 2: the night. But waking up in the morning and everyone
[14:25] Speaker 2: being like, so are we going to the petting day?
[14:27] Speaker 2: I was like, no, Fred, not like not today, not
[14:31] Speaker 2: not after last night. Sorry about that was.
[14:34] Speaker 1: His hand all funked up.
[14:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, he was out of these fucking cuts all.
[14:37] Speaker 1: Over his but he had to play, he had to
[14:42] Speaker 1: play an instrument. Yeah.
[14:43] Speaker 2: I think luckily it was his right hand so that,
[14:45] Speaker 2: you know, it didn't go much his brutal Yeah, yeah,
[14:50] Speaker 2: he was, you know, it was a wild child.
[14:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know who the most stressful guys to drink with.
[14:56] Speaker 1: Have you ever drank with the jack jackass guys?
[14:59] Speaker 2: I've never even really met met the I remember you
[15:02] Speaker 2: were over here at one point and you when you
[15:04] Speaker 2: came over, you came in and you were like surveying
[15:06] Speaker 2: the backyard because you weren't sure where and when they
[15:09] Speaker 2: would be. Yes.
[15:11] Speaker 1: Like I was at tiki bar with Knoxville and I
[15:14] Speaker 1: had sandals on, which I'd never have. Yeah, and I'm
[15:19] Speaker 1: not paying attention, I'm talking it. I was Jeff Germaine.
[15:22] Speaker 1: I'm talking to Germaine, and my left foot feels like
[15:25] Speaker 1: it's having like the worst allergic reaction, like just like inflamed.
[15:31] Speaker 1: I'm like, God, what the fuck? My left foot feels
[15:34] Speaker 1: like I must be having an allergic reaction. I'm feel
[15:36] Speaker 1: like I'm having a stroke. I looked down. My whole
[15:39] Speaker 1: left foot is on fire. Knoxville got like a bottle
[15:41] Speaker 1: of one fifty one rum and matches, and he's like
[15:44] Speaker 1: just pouring one fifty one all over my foot and
[15:47] Speaker 1: throwing matches at Wow, and you can't stop it out.
[15:52] Speaker 1: You're just stomping it around.
[15:53] Speaker 2: It's like it's amazing, though, you know, that's like it's
[15:56] Speaker 2: just the way it should be. I think with those guys,
[15:59] Speaker 2: you know what I mean like that, because how old
[16:01] Speaker 2: is he now? He's like in his fifties or.
[16:03] Speaker 1: Something fifty, the early fifties.
[16:07] Speaker 2: And he's still lighting people's feet on fire.
[16:09] Speaker 1: That's great. And you gotta like the whole crew. It's
[16:12] Speaker 1: not just the guys on the cast. It's like you
[16:15] Speaker 1: always have to have like your your beer like this
[16:18] Speaker 1: because they pee, they take out their dicks at the
[16:21] Speaker 1: arm pee in your beer while they're talking about like
[16:25] Speaker 1: Frank tow is drinking a beer and then like and
[16:28] Speaker 1: then like Tom toothless, Tom, who's not even on he's
[16:31] Speaker 1: a camera operator like Pee all in towns Beer. The
[16:37] Speaker 1: key is you can't you can't act nervous around them,
[16:39] Speaker 1: and then when they do prank, you just act gotta
[16:41] Speaker 1: act cool because the more you stress, the more they're
[16:44] Speaker 1: gonna be like.
[16:46] Speaker 2: Wow, that's insane.
[16:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it's tough. Yeah, Pee and fucking fire.
[16:59] Speaker 2: With a Dre.
[17:08] Speaker 1: With Adre. That's what's the worst bomb you've ever seen?
[17:12] Speaker 1: Have you ever seen a performer tank just eat a
[17:16] Speaker 1: bag of shit on stage?
[17:18] Speaker 2: Trying to think of like a really like maybe a
[17:20] Speaker 2: musical one.
[17:21] Speaker 1: I saw like Aril Pink early Ario Pink shows every day.
[17:29] Speaker 2: That was kind of what he did though at that
[17:31] Speaker 2: but you know he would just pull up with the
[17:32] Speaker 2: boombox and people would be like this isn't even good,
[17:35] Speaker 2: Like fuck you, this isn't good. You know, it's just
[17:37] Speaker 2: like this sucks. So I don't know, I feel like
[17:41] Speaker 2: but that. But it's like charming in a way as well.
[17:43] Speaker 2: It's like if you saw those shows. I saw one
[17:46] Speaker 2: of them back in the day, but I remember my
[17:48] Speaker 2: friend Cody was just like, yeah I saw it the
[17:49] Speaker 2: other day and Montreal like it fucking sucks, and I
[17:51] Speaker 2: was like.
[17:54] Speaker 1: Cat power Cat power would notoriously mount down on stage
[17:57] Speaker 1: all the time too. She would she would have a
[18:00] Speaker 1: really tough time. She would unravel.
[18:02] Speaker 2: I mean see that there's like a difference because I
[18:05] Speaker 2: remember seeing there was a band called fuck Are They
[18:07] Speaker 2: called a garage band from Montreal. They came over to
[18:10] Speaker 2: Vancouver and they were playing. It was this big deal,
[18:12] Speaker 2: like when garage was kind of really having its moment,
[18:15] Speaker 2: like two thousand and seven, two thousand and eight or whatever,
[18:17] Speaker 2: and maybe two thousand and nine even and what were
[18:19] Speaker 2: they called I can't remember, but but that in that instance,
[18:24] Speaker 2: it was like the drummer was just so hammered that
[18:27] Speaker 2: like they couldn't, Like the whole band is like trying
[18:29] Speaker 2: to play in the drummers just can't can't get in there.
[18:32] Speaker 2: Which is it just like it just didn't sound like
[18:34] Speaker 2: music at all. You know, there's instances like that where
[18:37] Speaker 2: it's kind of like technically impossible. But then there's the
[18:39] Speaker 2: ones where it is just like h meltdown status like
[18:44] Speaker 2: screaming at the audience.
[18:45] Speaker 1: You know.
[18:45] Speaker 2: I have a friend Sean that used to you know,
[18:47] Speaker 2: I love this guy as well. I just recorded a
[18:49] Speaker 2: record for him a couple of years ago. But back
[18:50] Speaker 2: in the day he would have you know, Sean Nicholas Savage,
[18:53] Speaker 2: he would he would. He had some shows, some difficult
[18:56] Speaker 2: shows where he would get quite angry at that. Actually,
[18:58] Speaker 2: on tour with us, I hope he doesn't minded I'm
[19:00] Speaker 2: telling these stories. But there was a tour where he
[19:04] Speaker 2: he was in the van with us the whole time,
[19:05] Speaker 2: and he had he would he would use olive oil
[19:08] Speaker 2: in his hair to slick it back. He was looking
[19:09] Speaker 2: good on the story in an Italian suit, slicked his
[19:11] Speaker 2: hair back every day. He's kind of you know, very uh,
[19:14] Speaker 2: kind of a cloud snowmy style look. Sometimes you know,
[19:16] Speaker 2: a very skinny guy, like beautiful guy. But I remember
[19:20] Speaker 2: there was this one we played in Glasgow or something,
[19:22] Speaker 2: and they didn't have normal olive oil. We're playing at
[19:24] Speaker 2: a pizza restaurant, but they had like the pizza olive
[19:26] Speaker 2: oil spicy, so it had like the peppers in it
[19:30] Speaker 2: and stuff. So Sean he got mad. There was no
[19:32] Speaker 2: hot water in the green rooms. He was frustrated about that,
[19:35] Speaker 2: and then they didn't have the olive oil. They only
[19:36] Speaker 2: had the pizza of olive oil. So he took a
[19:38] Speaker 2: cold shower and then he smelled like a pizza cause
[19:40] Speaker 2: he uses pizza of olive oil and he just got
[19:43] Speaker 2: that night though, I think it was like a we
[19:45] Speaker 2: had just a mess of shit happening that, you know,
[19:48] Speaker 2: that tour, and it was that was one of the
[19:49] Speaker 2: you know, I feel like our fuse was quite short,
[19:52] Speaker 2: but somehow he had a dress when we played that night,
[19:55] Speaker 2: and he was like crawling around and just screaming, and
[19:57] Speaker 2: it was like it was just punishing, you know, punishing
[20:00] Speaker 2: the people that came to But even that, it's like
[20:03] Speaker 2: I love the punishment like them.
[20:07] Speaker 1: To me, it's like the most entertaining show.
[20:08] Speaker 2: To me, it's like, yeah, somebody Steve.
[20:12] Speaker 1: Oh no, I saw a super cut of Steve Lacey
[20:14] Speaker 1: taking people's iPhones out of their hands, like breaking them one.
[20:18] Speaker 2: But even that, it's like, you know, that's one of
[20:20] Speaker 2: those things we're onlinecause I've seen those clips and I
[20:22] Speaker 2: love Steve too, He's my my good buddy. But it's
[20:24] Speaker 2: like with that, it's it's kind of like people are like,
[20:28] Speaker 2: like I am so angry at you, Steve, Like I paid,
[20:31] Speaker 2: like right now, we're living in this in this world
[20:33] Speaker 2: where it's kind of like I paid for your.
[20:35] Speaker 1: Record Outraged Economy.
[20:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, I I own you well that and it's like
[20:39] Speaker 2: it's like I I should have a say, you know,
[20:41] Speaker 2: it's like I am your fan and I paid to
[20:44] Speaker 2: be your fan.
[20:44] Speaker 1: So but it's like, no, you let him break your phone.
[20:46] Speaker 1: I like, I love it.
[20:48] Speaker 2: I love him camera Like fuck yeah, Steve, like get
[20:51] Speaker 2: it because it is you know, it's annoying. You know,
[20:54] Speaker 2: it's fucking annoying. You know, but it's I don't know,
[20:56] Speaker 2: it's like even that like but that's what I'm saying,
[20:59] Speaker 2: is like a diference between the music bombing and the comedy.
[21:03] Speaker 2: But I don't know. Bombing is such like it's such
[21:05] Speaker 2: a very particular thing, like it's I don't know. I
[21:10] Speaker 2: think that the worst is when something happens that is
[21:13] Speaker 2: out of your control and then you can't reel it
[21:16] Speaker 2: back in. Yeah, you know, like like say for like
[21:19] Speaker 2: and then it just gets.
[21:20] Speaker 1: All like technical equipment like yeah, audio going down or that.
[21:24] Speaker 2: Kind of thing.
[21:24] Speaker 1: You know.
[21:25] Speaker 2: It's kind of like I think back to like when
[21:27] Speaker 2: we saw radio Head at Coachella, like I don't know,
[21:29] Speaker 2: five years ago or four years ago whatever, and uh,
[21:32] Speaker 2: and the P eight has kept shutting off and the
[21:34] Speaker 2: first time you're like, oh, that's cute. The PA is
[21:36] Speaker 2: shutting off, and then it happens again and again.
[21:38] Speaker 1: Radioheads PA, Well that's what I'm saying.
[21:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, the console is exploding or something, and like, you know,
[21:42] Speaker 2: even you can even see it in the guys. I
[21:43] Speaker 2: mean they're professionals, they take care of business or whatever.
[21:46] Speaker 2: But you know, it happens two or three times, and
[21:48] Speaker 2: you get to the point where you're kind of like
[21:50] Speaker 2: you're like, yeah, I don't know if I have any
[21:52] Speaker 2: more like cute jokes about the ship being fucked, Like
[21:54] Speaker 2: the shit's just kind of fucked, you know what I mean.
[21:56] Speaker 2: It's like at that point, it's kind of like like
[21:59] Speaker 2: you get that. Yeah, Yeah, I feel like I had
[22:02] Speaker 2: it so badly recently. What was it? The cringe? It's
[22:07] Speaker 2: almost Yeah, the cringe is what I That's what I
[22:10] Speaker 2: search you for. That's what I love.
[22:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, I heard Frank Ocean was having a tough time.
[22:15] Speaker 2: That was I Yeah, I was there for that as well.
[22:18] Speaker 1: Danny buddies with Bunny Blanco. He said the show was amazing.
[22:21] Speaker 1: He goes, I don't why everybody's get.
[22:23] Speaker 2: People really loved it. I didn't stay for the whole
[22:24] Speaker 2: thing just because I was like I don't want to
[22:26] Speaker 2: wait for the traffic, but uh, I'm out. I'll say
[22:29] Speaker 2: that some components of it, like his voice sounded amazing.
[22:32] Speaker 2: It was just like there's parts about it where you know,
[22:35] Speaker 2: there was a lot of waiting, there was a lot
[22:37] Speaker 2: of it was strange.
[22:39] Speaker 1: It was really strange. I think Cochella is a tough crowd.
[22:42] Speaker 1: Don't you think Coachella is a tough coachell is? We did?
[22:45] Speaker 1: We performed at Gouceella together. That's right, we performed Atella together.
[22:49] Speaker 1: Never forget the.
[22:49] Speaker 2: Theremin and the Giant. It was at twenty inch deal
[22:52] Speaker 2: the Giant.
[22:53] Speaker 1: But it's don't you think that Coachella is a tough crowd.
[22:57] Speaker 2: Coachella is like not a music crowd. It's like a
[22:59] Speaker 2: butt cheeks crowd. Like it's like, you know, everybody's there
[23:02] Speaker 2: with like barely any clothes on, and like it's more
[23:04] Speaker 2: about getting the photos and ship. Yes, I mean, Frank
[23:07] Speaker 2: Ocean is like you know those butt cheek people like
[23:10] Speaker 2: do know about Frank? Like they love Frank.
[23:12] Speaker 1: It's so fun. It's such a funny, you know what
[23:14] Speaker 1: I mean? So what is that are you describing? Like
[23:16] Speaker 1: the southern California girl with a flower crown and the
[23:19] Speaker 1: big time but cheeks are just out. They don't even
[23:22] Speaker 1: know the bands, they're just they're.
[23:24] Speaker 2: Fuck like that. I have a problem with the butt
[23:26] Speaker 2: cheek people.
[23:27] Speaker 4: I have a problem with the but cheek people, the
[23:29] Speaker 4: budgeting people. They're low cutie pies, but they're fucking they are.
[23:33] Speaker 4: They are the stereotype of the southern California ding dong
[23:39] Speaker 4: oh yeah. Like, And that's my problem with the Coachella crowd.
[23:42] Speaker 4: I don't think anybody's paying attention.
[23:44] Speaker 1: It's very hot. Here's my here's my issues with Coachella.
[23:47] Speaker 1: I'll tell you one of the best festivals ever played.
[23:50] Speaker 1: Fucking uh b c. Pemberton, British col.
[23:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, I've heard that's a nice one.
[23:54] Speaker 1: Under been there, But Pemberton, all Pacific Northwest outside land
[23:58] Speaker 1: festivals of San Francisco's amazing, Sasquatch, all those like, all
[24:03] Speaker 1: those like rural Washington state kind of festivals amazing. The
[24:08] Speaker 1: weather's amazing, the landscape's amazing. Indio, California, Coachello Valley is
[24:15] Speaker 1: just a flat, brutal, hot, brutal nightmare strawberry farm. It's
[24:21] Speaker 1: just a fucking strawberry farm.
[24:23] Speaker 2: Butt cheeks everywhere.
[24:25] Speaker 1: And then ding Dong's from Orange County and Arizona in
[24:30] Speaker 1: La La ding Dongs gorgeous idiots coming for miles around.
[24:35] Speaker 1: I don't know, it just feels a little too cool.
[24:38] Speaker 2: It's not even cool, Like it's like, but it's not cool.
[24:41] Speaker 1: The irony is it's not cool. But it feels like
[24:43] Speaker 1: it feels like girls with flower crowns that are like
[24:45] Speaker 1: this rave is important, man, exactly, and it's like is important.
[24:51] Speaker 2: It feels expensive in a way, you know what I mean,
[24:53] Speaker 2: But it kind of it's like it's like greasy in
[24:55] Speaker 2: a way. But here's the thing is, I talked to
[24:57] Speaker 2: my friend Jania that a couple of weeks ago, and
[24:59] Speaker 2: he was saying that he went to Cochelle. He'd never
[25:01] Speaker 2: really been in music, vessels, guys, a painters, a good
[25:03] Speaker 2: pel of mine, and the you know, he was saying
[25:05] Speaker 2: that he he went with this stay with this guy
[25:07] Speaker 2: that you know, I think is an art dealer or something,
[25:09] Speaker 2: and they had the real they had the lux Coachell experience,
[25:12] Speaker 2: Like the guy's got a humongous house on a golf
[25:14] Speaker 2: course and there's you know, chefs and like just a
[25:17] Speaker 2: million dollar experience, you know, and like the artists don't
[25:19] Speaker 2: even have that there. You know, it's like I you know,
[25:22] Speaker 2: you like in a dusty trailer or something, and like
[25:24] Speaker 2: we all caterings closing, It's like, oh, can I still
[25:26] Speaker 2: get dinner? It's like sorry now, you know, it's like
[25:30] Speaker 2: you know, it's like it's it's I don't know, it's
[25:32] Speaker 2: But that's the whole point too, is that you can
[25:34] Speaker 2: you can essentially buy the artist experience a cochelle. You
[25:37] Speaker 2: can like buy an artist pass, you can buy a
[25:39] Speaker 2: VIP pass whatever. So it's enticing to these people. But
[25:42] Speaker 2: that's why I love it. You know, it's like the
[25:45] Speaker 2: you go for the celebs, you know, you go to
[25:47] Speaker 2: people watch. Although the first couple of years we played,
[25:50] Speaker 2: I was looking for the wrong celebs, Like I'm looking
[25:52] Speaker 2: for like Jack Nicholson or something like. You know, you
[25:55] Speaker 2: got to look for the contemporary, the TikTokers, You got to.
[25:58] Speaker 1: Look for your eyes feel for Jack.
[26:01] Speaker 2: I mean I would I saw, you know, you go
[26:02] Speaker 2: to Lakers game, that's where you see Jack. Yeah, you
[26:04] Speaker 2: ever see that photo of him at the Lakers game
[26:06] Speaker 2: where him and his buddy brought homemade chili to eat
[26:09] Speaker 2: and he just spilt it all over his pants.
[26:12] Speaker 1: It's so and he's just.
[26:15] Speaker 2: Sitting there like a shit, Like, what do I do now?
[26:18] Speaker 1: Jack with aericnre with aericndre, what's the well you already
[26:36] Speaker 1: said the most wasted you've been on stage.
[26:37] Speaker 2: I don't know if that was the most wasted. There's
[26:40] Speaker 2: definitely been other instances where I've just been I mean
[26:44] Speaker 2: it's like, you know, it's it's funny getting into the
[26:47] Speaker 2: swing of Like there was about a year and a
[26:49] Speaker 2: half or two year period where I would drink a
[26:51] Speaker 2: full two six of Jamison on stage every night. It
[26:54] Speaker 2: was like I would just.
[26:56] Speaker 1: Are those early tours or are those your early tours?
[26:59] Speaker 2: No, this is like this is like maybe you know
[27:02] Speaker 2: the two albums ago, last album? Yeah, so it's like
[27:07] Speaker 2: but you build our nerves or just for fun. I
[27:10] Speaker 2: think it was just like, well, let's just see how
[27:12] Speaker 2: far down this road we can go, you know, But
[27:15] Speaker 2: it was there were there were nights. I remember we
[27:18] Speaker 2: played a show I think it might be the only
[27:19] Speaker 2: show we ever played in Pittsburgh and we just played
[27:23] Speaker 2: for I mean, we played the songs we were gonna play,
[27:25] Speaker 2: like my songs, and then I was so so like
[27:29] Speaker 2: it just erupted into this like jam thing. I like
[27:32] Speaker 2: don't remember the show at all, but there's videos of it.
[27:35] Speaker 2: We played for like three and a half hours or
[27:37] Speaker 2: something Like a lot of it is just like kind
[27:39] Speaker 2: of weird slow jamming, and I'm making people say I'm
[27:41] Speaker 2: like Turkey, and they're like saying Turkey back to It's
[27:43] Speaker 2: this whole thing, and I just remember, you know, the
[27:46] Speaker 2: show was finished. I'm laying on the back the back patio.
[27:49] Speaker 2: There's like a masseuse there giving me a massage. I
[27:54] Speaker 2: don't know, it's just like there's a blur of this
[27:56] Speaker 2: era where it's like, you know, there were a lot
[27:58] Speaker 2: of shows where I couldn't walk after the show, and
[28:01] Speaker 2: that was like that.
[28:02] Speaker 1: You know, do you think toe to toe drink for drink,
[28:06] Speaker 1: cigarette for cigarette? Did you ever surpass post malone or
[28:10] Speaker 1: were you guys to kind of neck and neck for SIGs.
[28:13] Speaker 2: Post party with this? One time we parted would Post
[28:15] Speaker 2: in Tokyo. We were both playing at Fuji Rock and
[28:18] Speaker 2: we took him to this.
[28:19] Speaker 1: Did any smoke four to five packs a day?
[28:22] Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised. I mean I never I'm sure
[28:25] Speaker 2: that if I was at you know, if it was
[28:27] Speaker 2: the right Music festival, and we played early enough in
[28:29] Speaker 2: the day, like four packs wouldn't be out of the four.
[28:31] Speaker 1: That's eighty cigarettes.
[28:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a shitload, I mean, but it's like, you know,
[28:35] Speaker 2: here's the thing. I bet it's the same a Post too.
[28:37] Speaker 2: When you're posting, you got SIGs. Everybody's having a sig.
[28:40] Speaker 2: You go through four or five packs, I don't know,
[28:41] Speaker 2: but there, I mean, there was a long time where
[28:43] Speaker 2: I was smoking at least two packs a day, which
[28:45] Speaker 2: is like, that's a lot of cigarettes, you know. But
[28:48] Speaker 2: but Post, I remember there was a nut yet We
[28:50] Speaker 2: took him to Beat Cafe. This guy Kato man In
[28:52] Speaker 2: in Tokyo. He runs this bar named Beat Cafe. And
[28:55] Speaker 2: we went there with Post and me and all my guys.
[28:59] Speaker 2: We drank. We all drink a lot. A lot of
[29:00] Speaker 2: us were from Canada. It's like it's kind of you know,
[29:02] Speaker 2: that's that's the.
[29:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a nation founded by alcoholics.
[29:06] Speaker 2: Exactactly.
[29:07] Speaker 1: John, what's what's your George Roshing called Johnny apple Seed?
[29:09] Speaker 1: What's like Johnny Appleseed? He's got the big schnas.
[29:13] Speaker 2: I don't even know.
[29:13] Speaker 1: John McDonald, John McDonald, John McDonald, have you seen that guy?
[29:17] Speaker 1: Schnas that guy drank his face into an explosion exactly. Yeah,
[29:23] Speaker 1: but I know, so you're drinking in Tokyo Post.
[29:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, we were with Posts and we were drinking in
[29:27] Speaker 2: there and Post, I mean Post there was it got
[29:29] Speaker 2: to the post gets hammered. I don't know if he
[29:31] Speaker 2: does anymore. I haven't seen him in quite a few years,
[29:32] Speaker 2: but but he was like on the ground, like rolling
[29:35] Speaker 2: around and we had that. There was a point where
[29:37] Speaker 2: we were all hammered too. We had to go to security,
[29:39] Speaker 2: like don't you think like maybe you should take him home?
[29:41] Speaker 2: Like you can't stand up now, what's going on? So
[29:44] Speaker 2: in that one instance, we I would say, we out
[29:46] Speaker 2: drank Post nice. But he's a he's a beer man,
[29:49] Speaker 2: like he loves to drink the bud night guy. Yeah
[29:52] Speaker 2: that was interesting too. That year he actually had like
[29:55] Speaker 2: palettes of bud Light flown into Fuji Rock, which is.
[29:58] Speaker 1: Like rough bud Light.
[30:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, Japan Japan's got good like light light beer, Like
[30:04] Speaker 2: why not just drink that? But he is a he
[30:06] Speaker 2: loves his bud Lights.
[30:07] Speaker 1: So bud Light's tough.
[30:08] Speaker 2: Man, It's easy to drink. I think that's the thing.
[30:11] Speaker 2: It's like a casual doesn't make you feel full, doesn't
[30:14] Speaker 2: make you drunk too fast.
[30:16] Speaker 1: But also I like drinking to get drunk.
[30:18] Speaker 2: I'm like, exactly, that's the whole thing. I never really
[30:21] Speaker 2: thought that there was any you know, I mean the flavor.
[30:24] Speaker 2: Never I don't know, fancy cocktail.
[30:26] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[30:26] Speaker 2: It's just kind of like the faster the you know.
[30:29] Speaker 2: That's why jamison is so great. It's because it's it's
[30:31] Speaker 2: quite easy to drink, and you can drink it fast,
[30:33] Speaker 2: and it's kind of like the Coca cola hard alcohol
[30:36] Speaker 2: or whatever. And then there you are.
[30:38] Speaker 1: I'm a big rum guy, I'm a rum. I'm part
[30:40] Speaker 1: pirate rum. Rum is mine.
[30:44] Speaker 2: I'll say this. This is another instance of me being
[30:46] Speaker 2: really hammered on stage that I'm just remembering. My friend
[30:50] Speaker 2: Mollie Lewis. She's a whistler and she was doing the show.
[30:55] Speaker 2: Do you mean she's like a whistler, she's a whistlership,
[30:58] Speaker 2: you know, she's like she could yeah, she's crazy, really
[31:02] Speaker 2: good whistler. And she was professional. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
[31:05] Speaker 2: yeah yeah. And she was doing a whistle show down
[31:07] Speaker 2: at Zebulon like not far from you know, the zone
[31:10] Speaker 2: in La and uh and she wanted me to come
[31:14] Speaker 2: and sing this Frank Sinatra song, a song called Change Partners.
[31:17] Speaker 2: This was years ago, and I don't drink gin really.
[31:20] Speaker 2: I was a whiskey guy or tequila guy or whatever.
[31:21] Speaker 2: I love so but I was like, I'm singing a
[31:23] Speaker 2: Frank Sinatra song tonight, I'm gonna drink Martini's. And so
[31:28] Speaker 2: I just started drinking these. Jim Martinez, I think I
[31:31] Speaker 2: had like maybe twenty maybe twenty gin, and it was this.
[31:36] Speaker 2: It was fucked up.
[31:38] Speaker 1: Martini is basically just Gin with a little remove.
[31:41] Speaker 2: It was like that. The performance was okay, and I
[31:43] Speaker 2: had a nice time there, but I was so drunk.
[31:47] Speaker 2: And say it was what happened after? You know that
[31:48] Speaker 2: plays Astro diner down the street from the so I
[31:51] Speaker 2: was there. I was one thing led to another. Was
[31:55] Speaker 2: hugging my friend, you know, he had to leave. I
[31:57] Speaker 2: don't know. I ended up falling through one of the
[31:59] Speaker 2: stained glass windows was at Aftra Diner. But but my
[32:02] Speaker 2: I also had my my cock and balls out of
[32:05] Speaker 2: my jeans for some reason. So I fell through and
[32:08] Speaker 2: as soon as I fell through, I was like it
[32:10] Speaker 2: was so sobering. All of a sudden, I was like, oh, Okay,
[32:12] Speaker 2: time to get up and go tell them that I'll
[32:13] Speaker 2: replace the glass, and I like start walking in, but
[32:16] Speaker 2: cure my girlfriend was like like stop stop, and I
[32:18] Speaker 2: was like what and she had to like she pushed
[32:20] Speaker 2: my balls back in my jeans and hipped the jeans up,
[32:23] Speaker 2: and then I walked in. I was like, I'm so
[32:25] Speaker 2: sorry I've destroyed your and I actually I paid for
[32:27] Speaker 2: the windows like two hundred bucks, like it took like
[32:29] Speaker 2: months and months and months, and then to get it.
[32:30] Speaker 1: They have staying that windows like a church.
[32:33] Speaker 2: These low there's these low ones. Yeah, I mean I
[32:35] Speaker 2: think that place has been there for a long time,
[32:37] Speaker 2: but they kind of know me in there now because I, yeah,
[32:40] Speaker 2: fell the acids.
[32:42] Speaker 1: Windows like twenties zebul.
[32:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, brutal, But what are you gonna do?
[32:49] Speaker 1: Were you ever a cocaine guy? Where you big coke? Coke?
[32:52] Speaker 2: Not really?
[32:52] Speaker 1: No, There's a lot of big drinkers are like they
[32:55] Speaker 1: like sniffing the they like sniffing the stuff to kind
[32:58] Speaker 1: of get them die.
[32:59] Speaker 2: Yeah. I never you know, it's funny, It's like I
[33:01] Speaker 2: never really became that much of a drugman.
[33:03] Speaker 1: You were popping mally shelf and pingers.
[33:06] Speaker 2: I mean there's been music festivals over the years that
[33:08] Speaker 2: for sure, you know, but but it's like I never
[33:10] Speaker 2: I never really seeked it out. I guess it was
[33:12] Speaker 2: always just kind of like I suppose, I suppose I
[33:14] Speaker 2: will Yeah, no, probably, yeah, some of those I mean,
[33:17] Speaker 2: especially with the Malli and that. You know, it's like
[33:19] Speaker 2: you just don't know what you're getting sometimes and you know,
[33:21] Speaker 2: you end up having a insane We have had some
[33:24] Speaker 2: insane experiences. But I remember just watching we watched Outcast
[33:27] Speaker 2: at a festival in Belgium, and we had all the
[33:31] Speaker 2: whole crew had taken some pills that some kid had
[33:34] Speaker 2: given us, and we're just in that little there's that
[33:36] Speaker 2: little turret or like the little like mote or whatever
[33:38] Speaker 2: that you know, from the front of house to the stage,
[33:41] Speaker 2: and we're all in there holding the railing like watching
[33:43] Speaker 2: out Class play, like just so terrified and like so
[33:47] Speaker 2: so high. Yeah, horrible.
[33:50] Speaker 1: You know.
[33:50] Speaker 2: It's kind of.
[33:51] Speaker 1: Drug is whippets. I've probably done millions and millions and
[33:54] Speaker 1: millions of whippets.
[33:55] Speaker 2: I've never done whippets, but I have a lot of
[33:57] Speaker 2: friends that have indulged in that. It's is it similar
[34:01] Speaker 2: to like poppers?
[34:02] Speaker 1: No, I think poppers is the poor man's whip poppers.
[34:06] Speaker 1: VHS cleaner, like it is true huffing chemicals. Nitrous oxide
[34:12] Speaker 1: is not only food grade, but the dentist gives it
[34:15] Speaker 1: to you when they give you a dental procedure. They're
[34:16] Speaker 1: not giving they're not giving you VHS cleaner. So I'm
[34:20] Speaker 1: very Uh, I'm a whippid advocate.
[34:24] Speaker 2: That's medical. I like that, that's medical stuff. I feel.
[34:27] Speaker 2: We there was a while we knew this guy and uh,
[34:30] Speaker 2: just speaking about interesting drugs. At this point. There was
[34:32] Speaker 2: a guy named Bruno that used to take us around
[34:34] Speaker 2: when we go down to Brazil, and he would still
[34:36] Speaker 2: but we'd have been down in a long time, but
[34:38] Speaker 2: he used to have this He never sat down. This guy,
[34:40] Speaker 2: he's like a very you know, very fit bald man.
[34:43] Speaker 2: Wore a nice little hat. He had this amulet he
[34:44] Speaker 2: would always wear and he and we'd ask about it.
[34:47] Speaker 2: He'd be like, you can look, but like no touching.
[34:48] Speaker 2: And he was always kind of dancing like this. And
[34:51] Speaker 2: he never sat down. He was always standing up. Even
[34:53] Speaker 2: if we're driving. We would drive like four hours doing
[34:55] Speaker 2: their city. He'd stand up in the in the you know,
[34:57] Speaker 2: the van the whole time. But he had this, uh
[35:00] Speaker 2: this it was like a little tin of like brown
[35:02] Speaker 2: powder and he used to sprinkle a little bit like
[35:05] Speaker 2: right there on his hand, and you know, it's like
[35:07] Speaker 2: some kind of like brown cocaine. I was like, what
[35:09] Speaker 2: the fun Bruno? What is that? It was apparently like
[35:12] Speaker 2: the crushed up roots of like an ancient tree gets
[35:19] Speaker 2: yell jacked up. It's some crazy.
[35:24] Speaker 1: I love it.
[35:26] Speaker 2: That's so cool. It's amazing.
[35:28] Speaker 1: That's so cool. That guys sounds like the coolest guy.
[35:31] Speaker 2: He's cool. He had a lot of good times and Bruno,
[35:34] Speaker 2: he's a great guy. Montelvo that's his last name. Great guy.
[35:39] Speaker 1: What more can we say? I mean, the craziest thing
[35:41] Speaker 1: you've done is like acupuncture and you got to like,
[35:45] Speaker 1: what do you gotta do like explode semen and your
[35:47] Speaker 1: girlfriend or something.
[35:48] Speaker 2: No semen allowed, where you explode the uterus? No semen allowed?
[35:53] Speaker 1: How do you do that?
[35:54] Speaker 2: I don't know? I said, like he you know, doctor
[35:56] Speaker 2: Kim is like he speaks English, but he's he's Korean
[35:59] Speaker 2: and he's like cell so it's kind of like you
[36:01] Speaker 2: know I was, I said. When he said that, I
[36:03] Speaker 2: was like like edging, and he went, Okay, you know,
[36:08] Speaker 2: we didn't really meet in the middle on it, but
[36:10] Speaker 2: he says a lot of crazy things. You know, yesterday
[36:12] Speaker 2: he told me some cool ones where he was kind
[36:14] Speaker 2: of like, he say, sandwich work, never sandwich while working.
[36:20] Speaker 2: Never never sandwich time, work time. I was like, okay,
[36:23] Speaker 2: I respect that. Do not eat when you work, make
[36:25] Speaker 2: it separate, do not the other thing he says all
[36:28] Speaker 2: the time. He says, I should become a CIA agent
[36:32] Speaker 2: so I can get the license to kill. Then I
[36:34] Speaker 2: can kill my boss. Because my boss is stressing me out.
[36:38] Speaker 2: I don't think he realizes that I'm kind of like
[36:40] Speaker 2: a you know, I kind of am the boss. But yes, insane.
[36:44] Speaker 2: He's fully insane. And I lay there and I let
[36:46] Speaker 2: him just shove me full of needles. Actually, one of
[36:48] Speaker 2: the ones that he put in my arm yesterday, my
[36:50] Speaker 2: hands kind of fucked up from it.
[36:51] Speaker 1: So I think some of those needles are dirty. I
[36:54] Speaker 1: did acupuncture a few times. I'm like, I feel like
[36:56] Speaker 1: they're reusing some of these needles.
[36:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, I wonder.
[36:59] Speaker 1: I don't like a few times gives me the fucking
[37:03] Speaker 1: Hebrew gis a little bit.
[37:05] Speaker 2: Yeah. The cupping has you have you ever done the
[37:07] Speaker 2: blood cupping?
[37:08] Speaker 1: Oh?
[37:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, he like stabbed my foot three times and I
[37:10] Speaker 2: was like, ah yeah, and then he sucked all this
[37:12] Speaker 2: blood out and he's like, you have a fever in
[37:14] Speaker 2: your liver, but don't worry. I'm sucking it up now. Okay, brutal,
[37:19] Speaker 2: but you know, kind of cool. Interesting.
[37:21] Speaker 1: I want to hang with this guy in Bruno.
[37:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, Bruno and doctor Cam That would be a wild.
[37:26] Speaker 1: What a tour Brazil with both of them. I love it, Mac.
[37:33] Speaker 1: What's left to be said?
[37:34] Speaker 2: I don't know. Thank you for having me on your show.
