Eric and host of "Hot Ones"/friend of the show Sean Evans discuss a bombing they experienced together at a video shoot. They talk about the early stages of "Hot Ones" and how test runs would make participants throw up instantly. The sauces were too hot, and the milkshakes were a-plenty! They both discuss comedy outings together and the most wasted Sean has ever been on the "Hot Ones" set. Let's say it's with a Rock 'n' Roll Legend and a bottle of Crown Royal. [0:00] Speaker 1: Hey, do you know where you are? I? Sure?
[0:02] Speaker 2: Do you?
[0:02] Speaker 1: Listening to another episode of Bombing with Eric Andre, where
[0:05] Speaker 1: I talk with friends, comedians, musicians, and other creative people
[0:08] Speaker 1: about their worst moments on stage. We're talking about the
[0:11] Speaker 1: spiciest moments. So today it felt right to sit down
[0:15] Speaker 1: with the host and creator of Hot Ones, Sean Evans.
[0:18] Speaker 1: Dear friend, we both took a trip down memory lane
[0:21] Speaker 1: about a bombing moment. We experienced it together. As always,
[0:24] Speaker 1: Please subscribe to the podcast to get new episodes every week.
[0:27] Speaker 1: RTED five Stars and an Apple Podcasts subscribe to Big
[0:29] Speaker 1: Money Players Diamond to get exclusive clips plus ad free
[0:32] Speaker 1: episodes weekly. Let's get into it, Bombing.
[0:41] Speaker 2: B with Aeric Andre.
[0:44] Speaker 1: All right, well, so what's a bomb for him? Just
[0:46] Speaker 1: a shitty interviewhitty interview. When you said that it clearly
[0:51] Speaker 1: hates white people.
[0:52] Speaker 3: When you said that, that was immediately the thing that
[0:55] Speaker 3: I thought about. You know, it's like about bombing because
[0:59] Speaker 3: you know, you think how ones would fly off the
[1:01] Speaker 3: rails all the time, but it's usually a very positive
[1:03] Speaker 3: shoot experience, you know, like, no matter the emotional roller
[1:06] Speaker 3: coaster throughout, it usually ends in a hug. So I
[1:08] Speaker 3: don't really have that many sort of this is uncomfortable
[1:12] Speaker 3: kind of interviews when I look at the.
[1:14] Speaker 1: Cattle the Hot Ones catalog.
[1:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, but that one with you me and Yeah, if
[1:19] Speaker 3: I look back on the hundreds of interviews that I've
[1:21] Speaker 3: done in my life, that's the one that crystallized is
[1:24] Speaker 3: maybe the most.
[1:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, he clearly doesn't like to do press. I was
[1:28] Speaker 1: kind of like I would have turned to him and
[1:29] Speaker 1: be like, you don't have to do this, Like this
[1:31] Speaker 1: is just to promote your stuff, Like none of us
[1:34] Speaker 1: have to be here. You don't have to be here, right,
[1:36] Speaker 1: If you don't want to promote your stuff, just go
[1:39] Speaker 1: or go away here, like go somewhere else.
[1:41] Speaker 3: In his defense, though, I remember the whole conceit for
[1:45] Speaker 3: this thing was so stupid.
[1:46] Speaker 1: So I think what was happening he was confusing, was
[1:48] Speaker 1: super confused. I didn't really know what it was. What
[1:51] Speaker 1: were we used to do? What the purpose together? So
[1:54] Speaker 1: here's what I think happened.
[1:56] Speaker 3: Wece used to do those interviews whould be like Mac
[1:58] Speaker 3: DeMarco talking to a sap Rocky or something. You're like
[2:01] Speaker 3: two musicians talking shop. So I think complex saw that.
[2:04] Speaker 3: I was like, Oh, we need to do our version
[2:06] Speaker 3: of that, but we should leverage our hosts and blah blah,
[2:08] Speaker 3: you know, like it's when people start making decisions that
[2:11] Speaker 3: have nothing to do with making a good interview or
[2:14] Speaker 3: making a good video. It's motivated by other things, you know. Yeah,
[2:18] Speaker 3: but or like just we're going to put our hosts, like,
[2:21] Speaker 3: leverage our complex brand, put our like we're going to
[2:24] Speaker 3: take the magic of this thing, but insert a certain
[2:27] Speaker 3: like this is ours, and who knows what that means.
[2:30] Speaker 3: They can spin it off, sell it different ways or whatever,
[2:33] Speaker 3: you know. But I remember thinking that's so stupid, because
[2:35] Speaker 3: the reason the Vice thing kind of works is it's
[2:38] Speaker 3: two musicians talking shop or two comedians talking shops. Right,
[2:41] Speaker 3: introducing a host, it's like putting pickles on peanut butter
[2:46] Speaker 3: and jelly sandwich.
[2:47] Speaker 1: It makes no sense, and.
[2:49] Speaker 3: It actually flies in the face of like the exact
[2:51] Speaker 3: thing that makes that whole thing.
[2:53] Speaker 1: Work, right, and it it inserts just.
[2:55] Speaker 3: A distracting element to the whole thing. So I remember
[2:58] Speaker 3: thinking on its face that this is dumb, that this
[3:02] Speaker 3: is purposeless. And then even the sets like all space
[3:04] Speaker 3: shipped out weird, like it made no sense. So I
[3:07] Speaker 3: actually I maybe even like kind of understand where he's
[3:10] Speaker 3: coming from. But I almost like barely, Like I remember
[3:13] Speaker 3: three minutes into that being like, oh, I can't wait
[3:14] Speaker 3: to get in the car.
[3:15] Speaker 2: Yeah I know.
[3:16] Speaker 1: I was like, this is tense and he clearly doesn't
[3:17] Speaker 1: want to be here. But you know what, before the
[3:19] Speaker 1: cameras turned on, he was like sweet as pumpkin pie.
[3:22] Speaker 1: When I was just talking to him, like before we
[3:24] Speaker 1: started shooting, he was like, I was like, what are
[3:27] Speaker 1: you listening to lately? He's like, oh, Joni Mitchell. I
[3:29] Speaker 1: was like what, And then like as soon as the
[3:32] Speaker 1: camera started there was like a one eighty c change.
[3:35] Speaker 1: It was like very tense and like but I could
[3:38] Speaker 1: tell he was also like it was like shtick, like
[3:40] Speaker 1: he was trying to be like edge Lord, kind of
[3:42] Speaker 1: like you in a way and like militant, but like
[3:47] Speaker 1: not in a comedic way. So I was like trying
[3:49] Speaker 1: to like cut the tension. And then I was like
[3:52] Speaker 1: but then I think I was like what is this?
[3:54] Speaker 3: And then I think in the YouTube kind of ended up.
[3:57] Speaker 3: I felt like kind of trading some things too, and
[3:59] Speaker 3: so then I kind of like I was in the
[4:00] Speaker 3: middle of something.
[4:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, well I was like, shit, am I
[4:04] Speaker 1: in like I feel like I was in the principals office.
[4:07] Speaker 1: I was like, what am I in trouble for? That's
[4:11] Speaker 1: a good way of putting it.
[4:12] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[4:12] Speaker 1: I was like, I'm here to promote like a dumb
[4:14] Speaker 1: eleven minute talk show idea, but.
[4:16] Speaker 3: What you but what you said is something that I
[4:19] Speaker 3: always think about.
[4:19] Speaker 1: Like if I don't, I don't think I ever watched it.
[4:22] Speaker 1: Neither did I I didn't, I don't think it or whatever.
[4:24] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, that sucked. And I was doing
[4:27] Speaker 1: like a few things press wise that my publicist this
[4:32] Speaker 1: is like in the beginning, you just say yes to everything,
[4:35] Speaker 1: and there was a few things I did that I regretted,
[4:38] Speaker 1: So I was just it was in that era in
[4:40] Speaker 1: the early stages of the show where I was like
[4:42] Speaker 1: I did something it was like nylon or Neon or
[4:45] Speaker 1: one of these like fashion kind of and they like
[4:48] Speaker 1: there was like a fashionista kind of Bruno character there,
[4:51] Speaker 1: like dressing me up in some like thing. And I
[4:54] Speaker 1: was like, I don't really, I don't model or wear
[4:56] Speaker 1: this ship and they were like, oh, just do it.
[4:59] Speaker 1: And I looked my publicist. I was like, can I
[5:01] Speaker 1: do it? Like ironically, but then you don't get to
[5:03] Speaker 1: pick the pictures. Yeah right, you don't select the pictures,
[5:06] Speaker 1: so you better enjoy what you are wearing and what
[5:11] Speaker 1: you're doing because you don't get to pick. There's no editor.
[5:14] Speaker 1: You're not in the edit. So, uh, it was around
[5:17] Speaker 1: that era that I did that, and I was like,
[5:19] Speaker 1: I gotta like be careful about saying yes to everything
[5:22] Speaker 1: because that was a fucking bummer. What was your takeaway
[5:24] Speaker 1: from it? And have we given enough context as the
[5:26] Speaker 1: audience on what the fuck we're talking about?
[5:27] Speaker 2: Right?
[5:28] Speaker 1: Yeah? I think we kind of set it up. It
[5:29] Speaker 1: was just it was trying.
[5:31] Speaker 3: It was trying to be actors on actors, but they
[5:33] Speaker 3: inserted a host for no reason and then it went sideways,
[5:36] Speaker 3: which of course it was going to do, you know,
[5:38] Speaker 3: But what you said, I do kind of I think
[5:40] Speaker 3: about that sometimes when someone comes in, because you never
[5:43] Speaker 3: know what they're gonna come in with, you know, like
[5:45] Speaker 3: they can be you know, like, oh, I'm in a.
[5:48] Speaker 1: New phase of my like artistic.
[5:50] Speaker 3: Journey and I'm come in like you know, and sometimes
[5:52] Speaker 3: I'm like, dude, I'm just trying to do a commercial
[5:54] Speaker 3: for you.
[5:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. Yeah, Well it felt disingenuous because I saw
[5:58] Speaker 1: how he behaved before the cameras and on and then
[6:01] Speaker 1: he like put on a put on an act, and
[6:05] Speaker 1: I was like, no, you're way more interesting. You're way
[6:08] Speaker 1: more intriguing and likable and relatable being yourself. Like when
[6:12] Speaker 1: I was talking to him off camera, I was like,
[6:16] Speaker 1: I was leaning in. I was like fascinated, and then
[6:18] Speaker 1: he was. So it was a bummer, you know. It
[6:21] Speaker 1: was like rebel without a cause. Though it wasn't like
[6:25] Speaker 1: it wasn't it wasn't activism. It was just like nihilism.
[6:32] Speaker 1: It was nihilism. What was your takeaway? I didn't I
[6:38] Speaker 1: didn't have I don't want to watch it again. It's
[6:40] Speaker 1: probably not that when you watch it. It was just
[6:44] Speaker 1: a feeling in the room.
[6:45] Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, it was probably more yeah, like less tangible
[6:48] Speaker 3: than But but I don't I mean philosophically the way
[6:52] Speaker 3: I look at interviews the same way as movies, like
[6:54] Speaker 3: they should either be good or really bad, you know
[6:58] Speaker 3: what I mean, Like the middle of the Road doesn't
[7:00] Speaker 3: do anything for me. So like sometimes those things are uncomfortable,
[7:03] Speaker 3: but I never when I walk away from them, I'm
[7:05] Speaker 3: always like, well that's you know, it's compelling, you know. Yeah,
[7:11] Speaker 3: So and then I try not to take myself too
[7:14] Speaker 3: seriously or like whatever when I walk away from those things.
[7:17] Speaker 1: So that's just like kind of fine. But is that
[7:19] Speaker 1: the worst did I experience your biggest bomb?
[7:22] Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I think that's That's like if I
[7:25] Speaker 3: look back while it was happening, the feeling that I
[7:28] Speaker 3: had where I was almost I barely remember because I
[7:30] Speaker 3: was just kind of like disassociated the whole time.
[7:32] Speaker 1: But fine, I was like, oh this thing. But thinking
[7:36] Speaker 1: about getting in the car, you seem just like, huh
[7:39] Speaker 1: great anyway, And I was like, maybe this is like
[7:42] Speaker 1: every other day for you, getting like curmudgeon. Well sometimes
[7:46] Speaker 1: because musicians in it happens, yeah, because like, uh, celebrities
[7:51] Speaker 1: are lunatics, like the majority of them. They're like severely
[7:55] Speaker 1: mentally ill.
[7:56] Speaker 3: And just doing an interview so bizarre because then you
[7:58] Speaker 3: meet people for the first time, and then you have
[8:00] Speaker 3: to create this trust, this rhythm, this energy, this chemistry
[8:04] Speaker 3: in this ridiculous context, you know what I mean.
[8:06] Speaker 1: That's what makes it so.
[8:08] Speaker 3: But you always walk away with those things learning something
[8:10] Speaker 3: like even walking away from that, you know the same
[8:13] Speaker 3: way that you were talking about putting yourself in a
[8:14] Speaker 3: bad situation with.
[8:15] Speaker 1: The nylon thing, like same with me.
[8:17] Speaker 3: It's like, oh, well that was a bad situation. I
[8:19] Speaker 3: could see it coming from a mile away. I did
[8:21] Speaker 3: it anyway, and it went as badly as I thought
[8:24] Speaker 3: it was going to go. So then that makes you think,
[8:26] Speaker 3: all right, in the future, I can if trust your
[8:28] Speaker 3: instincts on something like that and you can't exactly and
[8:35] Speaker 3: if you can't see the concept clearly, then don't do it,
[8:38] Speaker 3: you know what I mean, Like if it's if it's
[8:40] Speaker 3: messy at all, and so then you start to think about,
[8:42] Speaker 3: all right, well, I need to control these things a
[8:44] Speaker 3: little bit more so you can walk away from those
[8:46] Speaker 3: things with certain lessons and but overall, I just think,
[8:49] Speaker 3: you know, try your best to research somebody, put it,
[8:52] Speaker 3: put together an interview that you hope works, and I
[8:55] Speaker 3: always stay true to that process. So then if it
[8:58] Speaker 3: doesn't go according to plan, then that's okay. I did
[9:01] Speaker 3: my best, you know, and go on to the next one.
[9:04] Speaker 3: There's always the next one.
[9:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, there's always something new, And yeah, I guess
[9:07] Speaker 1: failure is the greatest teacher. But uh yeah, just say no.
[9:12] Speaker 1: Crust your instincts and just saying no, and like that's
[9:15] Speaker 1: not just for career stuff. It's like throughout life. Yeah,
[9:18] Speaker 1: you know, I'm such a people pleaser and I just
[9:19] Speaker 1: go yeah, yeah sure, and then hey, you want to
[9:22] Speaker 1: go to this? Yeah yeah sure, And I don't know
[9:24] Speaker 1: why the fuck I did. I learned it from my parents.
[9:26] Speaker 1: But like even if you want to say yeah, yeah sure,
[9:28] Speaker 1: I have to like practice like just like not saying
[9:31] Speaker 1: anything at first, right, and then saying something a vague
[9:36] Speaker 1: in between, so I can sleep on it, really check
[9:38] Speaker 1: in with my gut and see how I feel.
[9:40] Speaker 3: What do you see the What do you see is
[9:42] Speaker 3: the value of a promo cycle, you know, like the
[9:45] Speaker 3: value of even doing press, of even sitting down and
[9:47] Speaker 3: like doing interviews with people, especially back then.
[9:50] Speaker 1: There's a million show. That's what I'm saying.
[9:53] Speaker 3: Like you're like, what's even Like, Oh I get on
[9:56] Speaker 3: this and somebody's gonna see me and actually go to
[9:58] Speaker 3: the show.
[9:59] Speaker 1: Do you think that that yeah happens? Yeah, yeah, I
[10:01] Speaker 1: mean without marketing. Look at Barbie. Look at the Barbie movie. Right,
[10:05] Speaker 1: it's a fucking genius, But they did two things that
[10:08] Speaker 1: was brilliant with the marketing. Hey, Barbie, is this like
[10:11] Speaker 1: tried and true intellectual property that's been around for one
[10:14] Speaker 1: hundred years. That's controversial. So controversy brings media attention and
[10:19] Speaker 1: internet attention to it, and it's already like this established brand,
[10:25] Speaker 1: and they could combine forces for some reason, for a
[10:31] Speaker 1: very smart reason. With the Oppenheimer marketing, there was like
[10:35] Speaker 1: all these like conjoined memes and they both you know,
[10:38] Speaker 1: they're both making two billion dollars at the box office.
[10:42] Speaker 2: So I think.
[10:44] Speaker 1: Marketing is crucial inundated with so much media.
[10:48] Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's such a fractured media landscape, you know
[10:51] Speaker 3: what I mean. Like back in the day, there was
[10:52] Speaker 3: like a couple a handful of shows, you know that people.
[10:55] Speaker 1: Are tuning into TV channel exactly. Now there's like a
[10:58] Speaker 1: million that yeah, thousands harder than ever, I guess. Yeah,
[11:04] Speaker 1: it's a volume game.
[11:08] Speaker 2: With Aricodre, with Arecdre.
[11:21] Speaker 1: What about like up and coming when you were like
[11:22] Speaker 1: a young journalist.
[11:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I actually I liked my gigs before I
[11:27] Speaker 3: ever had something like this. I was, you know, I
[11:29] Speaker 3: worked for the park district when I was in high school,
[11:31] Speaker 3: just slinging gatorades and like hot.
[11:34] Speaker 1: Dogs at slow pitch like rex softball leagues. You know,
[11:36] Speaker 1: that was awesome.
[11:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And then my other job after that in college,
[11:41] Speaker 3: I do architecture tours of the Chicago River in Lake
[11:43] Speaker 3: Michigan is like a dosin with like the Chicago Architecture
[11:47] Speaker 3: as a tour guide with the Architecture Foundation, and this
[11:50] Speaker 3: boat company called the First Lady, and that was sick,
[11:52] Speaker 3: Like I love doing that.
[11:53] Speaker 1: To do you ever get fired from anything? No, I
[11:55] Speaker 1: don't think I've ever been fired or.
[12:00] Speaker 3: Should lists experience all the way through, but I do
[12:03] Speaker 3: remember when we first started doing hot Ones, it would
[12:07] Speaker 3: be kind of an embarrassing show to do before anybody
[12:10] Speaker 3: had ever heard of it.
[12:11] Speaker 2: You know.
[12:11] Speaker 3: Start set is so bare bones, just the black curtains hanging,
[12:15] Speaker 3: and then it would have you know, like the wings
[12:17] Speaker 3: and just me sitting there.
[12:19] Speaker 2: You know.
[12:19] Speaker 1: I like that. It's like Charlie Rose with Chi. That's fine.
[12:22] Speaker 3: But as you start to like kind of grow and
[12:24] Speaker 3: break through, eventually you find yourself, you know, like renting
[12:27] Speaker 3: a suite at like the Beverly Hills Hotel, hanging those
[12:30] Speaker 3: hanging those black things from like you know, the room,
[12:33] Speaker 3: and then having like Charlie Staring come up from a
[12:35] Speaker 3: press junket to like us with like the bedly you know,
[12:38] Speaker 3: like smashed up against the wall and all the all
[12:41] Speaker 3: the sheets hanging down, and then her being like giving
[12:45] Speaker 3: that same look to the publicist. You know, like that
[12:47] Speaker 3: ended up being fine, but you have to like win
[12:48] Speaker 3: people over, and that was like always a struggle. Nobody
[12:51] Speaker 3: had heard of us or like knew anything when they're
[12:54] Speaker 3: getting themselves into it, and then you have this ridiculous
[12:57] Speaker 3: on its face, ridiculous concept, you know what I mean.
[12:59] Speaker 3: So I always felt and I remember for years doing
[13:04] Speaker 3: the show, I'd have a feeling of embarrassment before starting.
[13:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, no, it's great. I mean you do
[13:11] Speaker 1: get thrown a lot of fucking wacka do bullshit when
[13:13] Speaker 1: you're doing press sometimes, and you do have to like
[13:15] Speaker 1: constantly check in with your pubblices, be like what am
[13:18] Speaker 1: I doing? Like like especially like there are like people
[13:22] Speaker 1: that pitch you like wackado games, like you're like, this
[13:24] Speaker 1: is you're gonna play the selfie Olympics and the funk up.
[13:28] Speaker 1: I don't want to do that. Just go see the
[13:31] Speaker 1: movie I did and whatever. But uh so I understand
[13:35] Speaker 1: their apprehension. You got to kind of check in with
[13:38] Speaker 1: each especially when we tossed around those hotel rooms. You're
[13:41] Speaker 1: like yeah, yeah, yeah, like, what is this but uh
[13:47] Speaker 1: game show? Yeah?
[13:48] Speaker 2: Was What was the.
[13:52] Speaker 1: Highs and lows of the Game Show? Was that stressful?
[13:54] Speaker 1: Is it still going?
[13:55] Speaker 2: No?
[13:56] Speaker 1: No? No, here's how I here's how I look back
[13:58] Speaker 1: on that.
[13:59] Speaker 3: The pop positives on it were, uh, you know, it
[14:03] Speaker 3: was fun to do it like in a big studio,
[14:05] Speaker 3: you know, they're nerve wrecking.
[14:07] Speaker 2: No.
[14:07] Speaker 1: I kind of liked it, you know because when you do.
[14:09] Speaker 3: Stress of it, I kind of like the performance of it,
[14:12] Speaker 3: you know, I kind of like, you know, you're so
[14:14] Speaker 3: in the studio doing the interview show. There's not many
[14:16] Speaker 3: people on set. You know, it's very closed and quiet,
[14:19] Speaker 3: and that felt like a chance to like, you know,
[14:21] Speaker 3: it's like kind of doing something in the studio and
[14:23] Speaker 3: then you get to do a concert.
[14:24] Speaker 1: That's kind of how I thought of it, And it was.
[14:25] Speaker 1: It was fun.
[14:26] Speaker 3: In Atlanta was a fun city to do it. They're
[14:28] Speaker 3: not normal seat filler people, you know, they're like fun
[14:31] Speaker 3: and having a great time and it's so that always
[14:33] Speaker 3: felt awesome. And then you'd be like around fans and
[14:36] Speaker 3: signing hot sauce bottles and stuff, so it felt real
[14:39] Speaker 3: to the show.
[14:39] Speaker 1: How did the game show work? What was the premise
[14:41] Speaker 1: of it, like people had to eat hotter and hotter, Like, yeah,
[14:43] Speaker 1: it's not celebrities.
[14:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, contestants, right, So it just be like these rounds
[14:47] Speaker 3: of either like a game or trivia, but before each
[14:50] Speaker 3: round they're eating this scorching hot chicken wing.
[14:53] Speaker 1: But I do remember not having not having.
[14:58] Speaker 3: The greatest experience going having a TV adaptation of it
[15:01] Speaker 3: or taking notes from like a network about what this
[15:05] Speaker 3: should be, you know what I mean. So I think,
[15:07] Speaker 3: but I think sometimes they're just like, oh, it's like
[15:10] Speaker 3: celebrities and hot sauce, and that's what like makes it
[15:12] Speaker 3: such a hit, you know what I mean. So they
[15:14] Speaker 3: it would be very celebrity driven kind of trivia and stuff.
[15:17] Speaker 3: But I'm like, I know, my audience, they're not this
[15:20] Speaker 3: kind of dumb, you know. So I felt like the
[15:23] Speaker 3: trivia was dumb. I felt like the games were dumb.
[15:25] Speaker 3: Like I kind of wanted it to be a little
[15:27] Speaker 3: more cash cab kind of thing, you know, like something
[15:29] Speaker 3: that I know people can play along to.
[15:31] Speaker 1: But then they'll like mark, you know, they'll.
[15:34] Speaker 3: Focus group test something and then with whatever the demographic
[15:38] Speaker 3: is for the advertisers that they have, and that ends
[15:41] Speaker 3: up like dictating the show you know, they.
[15:44] Speaker 1: Run creativity like a accountant. Yeah.
[15:46] Speaker 3: So I saw that and then and then the output
[15:48] Speaker 3: from that, I'm like, I know why people like hot
[15:51] Speaker 3: ones and no hot Ones fan is going to see
[15:55] Speaker 3: this and be like, oh, yeah, this is an amazing
[15:57] Speaker 3: game show, you know what I mean.
[15:58] Speaker 1: So I knew that.
[15:59] Speaker 3: And while you're doing something, it's exciting, and especially at
[16:02] Speaker 3: that time, it was super exciting. But then when I
[16:05] Speaker 3: was on the plane home, you know, it's such a
[16:06] Speaker 3: whirlwind because you shoot like twenty five episodes and ten
[16:09] Speaker 3: days or whatever. And then when I was on the
[16:11] Speaker 3: plane ride home, I remember being like, a.
[16:13] Speaker 1: What's that going to look like? You know? But I thought,
[16:15] Speaker 1: you know, working with the contestants is great.
[16:17] Speaker 3: The other thing was the wings were way too hot,
[16:21] Speaker 3: you know, because that's like spicy. Wait, just way too spicy,
[16:25] Speaker 3: is like just way too way too impossible to deal. Oh,
[16:29] Speaker 3: you were like chilling killing them. Because the other side
[16:33] Speaker 3: of it is the people. I think there was puking,
[16:36] Speaker 3: and I think there was there.
[16:37] Speaker 1: Was Pukingmber from Massachusetts or whatever doing it. There was
[16:41] Speaker 1: puking in every single episode.
[16:43] Speaker 3: You know. I was like, I was like, this needs
[16:45] Speaker 3: and then the way that they would be explained to me.
[16:46] Speaker 3: I'd be like, you know what, how ones would kind
[16:48] Speaker 3: of work them up to crazy were starting out, Yeah, yeah,
[16:53] Speaker 3: no one's going to watch to the first commercial break
[16:55] Speaker 3: if they're just kind.
[16:55] Speaker 1: Of you know, like that.
[16:57] Speaker 3: So the first one was like worse than the bomb,
[17:00] Speaker 3: and then it goes from there.
[17:02] Speaker 1: They're just getting getting rotten movie hard exactly.
[17:13] Speaker 3: It's way too hot. And I remember because I don't
[17:16] Speaker 3: really like puking. I don't like when people puke around me,
[17:19] Speaker 3: and like this, oh yeah, every o, my god, there's
[17:23] Speaker 3: like puke buckets behind everything. I was like, I was like,
[17:26] Speaker 3: I get wanting reactions.
[17:29] Speaker 1: You don't want people puking.
[17:30] Speaker 3: You don't want deep, you don't want deep guttural tramps,
[17:35] Speaker 3: dark dark. Yeah, And because you know, like on the
[17:38] Speaker 3: show and people are like, it's screaming, that's fun. When
[17:40] Speaker 3: people are in a k hole guttural like shutdown thing,
[17:44] Speaker 3: it's just uncomfortable and then they can't. So I remember
[17:46] Speaker 3: even early on and that being like these are too hot,
[17:49] Speaker 3: but we always make it to the first commercial break.
[17:51] Speaker 1: We smoke them out.
[17:51] Speaker 3: So I remember like I'm not, uh, it was I'm
[17:56] Speaker 3: happy I did it. It was a good experience, and
[17:58] Speaker 3: the people in Atlanta and uh people at Turner and
[18:02] Speaker 3: everybody was like super awesome to work with. But looking
[18:05] Speaker 3: back on it, like I understand completely wide failed, you know,
[18:10] Speaker 3: like it had no chance murdering. It was not.
[18:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, they're just like medical attention, yeah was there.
[18:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, we had medics on set and we put
[18:24] Speaker 3: them to use. I remember there was like somebody who
[18:27] Speaker 3: had to get some sort of attention for it. But
[18:30] Speaker 3: it was uh insurance to cover the show, and I
[18:34] Speaker 3: remember there was They'd always want to like update all
[18:38] Speaker 3: the time, so they always have me checking in, you know,
[18:41] Speaker 3: but how are you doing after the constrictor wing you know,
[18:44] Speaker 3: and doing and I'm like and they'd just be in
[18:46] Speaker 3: my ear being like checking with Derek, checking with Derek,
[18:48] Speaker 3: ask the constriction stuff like that. It was just I
[18:52] Speaker 3: know I should have, but but I think that's what
[18:55] Speaker 3: ends up happening though, Or what I think is interesting
[18:57] Speaker 3: is you walk into something and you see the level
[19:01] Speaker 3: of success of like all those people, and you're like, well,
[19:03] Speaker 3: I've only done one this is the first show.
[19:06] Speaker 1: Now I look at those people like, who the fuck
[19:07] Speaker 1: are any of the exactly exactly at the time written
[19:10] Speaker 1: a script. They've never hosted, done anything on camera? Who
[19:15] Speaker 1: are they? But that was the learning experience for me.
[19:17] Speaker 1: So I was like, oh, they get fired all they
[19:19] Speaker 1: get fired and the revolving door, they've any of their asses,
[19:23] Speaker 1: They're going to be fired in like a week exactly.
[19:25] Speaker 3: And then so I felt like, oh, I've only done
[19:28] Speaker 3: one show that's worked ever. You know, this is my
[19:30] Speaker 3: first show, Like what do I know? I would be
[19:33] Speaker 3: going through the same thing, but then now walking out
[19:35] Speaker 3: of it. That was another learning experience of like, no,
[19:38] Speaker 3: I shouldn't let any anyone talk. I know a Hot
[19:41] Speaker 3: Ones fan better than anyone was a Hot Ones fan.
[19:43] Speaker 3: No one should tell me exactly what the one. That
[19:45] Speaker 3: was an experience, so.
[19:46] Speaker 2: You got to push back.
[19:47] Speaker 1: You just be like, hey, I know the fan base,
[19:49] Speaker 1: and this is you just got to tell them why
[19:51] Speaker 1: they're wrong over and over again. And then also like
[19:53] Speaker 1: half of what their their notes are is just like
[19:55] Speaker 1: performative bullshit to justify their job, like self centered and
[19:59] Speaker 1: self served.
[20:00] Speaker 3: That's what I thought too, even like the decision being
[20:02] Speaker 3: so risk averse, and you know.
[20:04] Speaker 1: Like they just don't want to get fired from whoever
[20:06] Speaker 1: their bosses and their bosses some other schmuck and it's
[20:09] Speaker 1: just like a fucking ladder of schmucks to the top
[20:12] Speaker 1: of exactly mountain. But you learn, yeah, yeah, you live
[20:16] Speaker 1: and learn. That's so crazy. Fucking rocking people to like
[20:21] Speaker 1: god five levels spicy, Get them like a medium spice
[20:27] Speaker 1: at first, so that you could tell their their sweating.
[20:29] Speaker 1: They're hot, but they're answering the question, and then you
[20:32] Speaker 1: go up. Then then you build towards act three. You
[20:34] Speaker 1: get you can't, I get you don't want to start
[20:36] Speaker 1: out with like Taco Bell mild, but you gotta, you know,
[20:40] Speaker 1: the craziest ship by the balance, the craziest.
[20:42] Speaker 3: This is just now coming back to me, But before
[20:45] Speaker 3: the game show started, there'd be a time where we'd
[20:47] Speaker 3: go to the production house that was doing it and
[20:49] Speaker 3: they'd have a room like this, They clear everything out
[20:51] Speaker 3: and you'd just be drilling all the games. So then
[20:53] Speaker 3: when you actually start shooting shows like the games are
[20:56] Speaker 3: our second nature to right. But then what they would
[20:58] Speaker 3: do is they'd hire I think like just day act
[21:01] Speaker 3: like day rate actors, you know, people that would otherwise
[21:03] Speaker 3: just be extras in a TOOTHPACEE commercial or something to
[21:06] Speaker 3: come in and they'd be drilling the games, but actually
[21:10] Speaker 3: eating the wings for real. And I remember thinking at
[21:12] Speaker 3: the time, like, why do they even need to eat
[21:14] Speaker 3: the wings? Like this is mostly just about drilling it
[21:17] Speaker 3: for me?
[21:17] Speaker 2: May die?
[21:19] Speaker 1: Wait this was what what was this? This was like
[21:22] Speaker 1: a rehearsal Yeah, like in rehearsal kind of situation. And
[21:25] Speaker 1: this wasn't for on camera or it wasn't it wasn't. No,
[21:28] Speaker 1: they were just they were just this wasn't for the show.
[21:30] Speaker 1: They were just drilling the things.
[21:32] Speaker 3: But I guess they probably had to lock in the
[21:34] Speaker 3: spice to you know, they probably had to lock in
[21:37] Speaker 3: how hot these things was.
[21:38] Speaker 1: Like, so there's like background actors getting rocked like a
[21:42] Speaker 1: lab rat kind.
[21:43] Speaker 3: Of setting, dude, like a documentary and no, it was amazing.
[21:48] Speaker 1: I remember at one point being like, we.
[21:51] Speaker 3: Need to get the milkshakes because they'd be like they'd
[21:53] Speaker 3: be like they'd be like Sean Hey, on that last read,
[21:56] Speaker 3: you called it the two hundred dollars question. It's not
[21:58] Speaker 3: the two hundred dollars question. It's a question for two
[22:00] Speaker 3: hundred dollars.
[22:00] Speaker 1: So let's reset new wings like blah blah blah, like
[22:03] Speaker 1: these people just I mean like and then like I'm
[22:07] Speaker 1: like we can't.
[22:07] Speaker 3: No, no, no, we got to get them some milkshakes
[22:10] Speaker 3: or something. This isn't and they'd be like, oh yeah,
[22:12] Speaker 3: you can tell they wouldn't.
[22:13] Speaker 1: Even like, weren't even thinking about that. God, all right,
[22:15] Speaker 1: get some milkshakes.
[22:17] Speaker 3: So anyways, but so that was a short lived but
[22:21] Speaker 3: pretty wild experience.
[22:22] Speaker 1: It's wild.
[22:23] Speaker 2: That's wild ship.
[22:27] Speaker 1: Could you update? I guess you don't need to, but
[22:30] Speaker 1: could you do a half hour version for television hot ones? Yeah? Yeah,
[22:37] Speaker 1: I mean I guess it would be almost Yeah, it's
[22:39] Speaker 1: almost the same. Ain't broke, don't fix it. That's I mean,
[22:41] Speaker 1: that's vision all up. That's how I think, exactly, And
[22:45] Speaker 1: you got a good thing going exactly, change the formula.
[22:48] Speaker 1: That's that's what I say.
[22:49] Speaker 3: It's just like, if this is where people get it,
[22:52] Speaker 3: and this is how they like it and they know
[22:53] Speaker 3: how it's delivered, why mess around with any.
[22:58] Speaker 1: So I've never really like you can monitor you. You're
[23:00] Speaker 1: monetizing YouTube right like you're monetizing yeah, I mean yeah,
[23:05] Speaker 1: I mean it's not like you know how much you
[23:08] Speaker 1: got liquid? Right now, let's go to your three hundred bucks.
[23:18] Speaker 2: With aer codre.
[23:28] Speaker 1: With aer codre, what's the worst bomb you've ever seen
[23:31] Speaker 1: live nothing that's super crystallized or any like any other
[23:36] Speaker 1: thing you've seen in Like I've been to some Killed
[23:39] Speaker 1: Tony shows or whatever, you know, but that's just like
[23:41] Speaker 1: I haven't gone to those.
[23:42] Speaker 2: I want to go to those.
[23:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so that's the show.
[23:46] Speaker 3: Und so here's how it works as me to do it,
[23:50] Speaker 3: and I just no, you should do it.
[23:52] Speaker 1: It's fun. It's fun. It's a fun show.
[23:53] Speaker 3: So basically what it is is just pulling out of
[23:56] Speaker 3: the hat like total amateurs to do a minute on stage,
[23:59] Speaker 3: you know, and then they it's kind of.
[24:01] Speaker 1: Like a minute of regular written material or you have
[24:03] Speaker 1: to improvise your material.
[24:04] Speaker 3: No, you could do it's it's people want to be
[24:07] Speaker 3: comedians or whatever putting it, but it's not somebody that's
[24:09] Speaker 3: actually working, like not somebody who's like work and coming.
[24:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, like not amateur in a bad way, but like.
[24:16] Speaker 3: It's like an American Idol audition for comedians basically.
[24:20] Speaker 1: And then it's just rapid fire called Kill Tony. I
[24:23] Speaker 1: don't know why it's called kill Tony. Tony Hinecliff does it,
[24:26] Speaker 1: So maybe there's some but do they have to like
[24:28] Speaker 1: go toe to toe with Tony? At the end of it.
[24:30] Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know.
[24:31] Speaker 3: Actually, I just I just accept. I just accepted at
[24:34] Speaker 3: face value and walked in and sit down. But I've
[24:37] Speaker 3: gone to a couple of them, and that'll be like
[24:38] Speaker 3: a rapid fire bomb, you know what I mean.
[24:40] Speaker 1: So it'll just be like it's just one of the
[24:44] Speaker 1: first time er is like getting up there. Yeah yeah,
[24:46] Speaker 1: and it's eating it.
[24:47] Speaker 3: It would be like just kids from high school trying
[24:49] Speaker 3: to fill a minute or something, you know what I mean, it's.
[24:51] Speaker 1: The longest minute of their life. Yeah. Yeah, so you've
[24:53] Speaker 1: seen some panic attacks there, Yeah, definitely, Yeah, Yeah. I
[24:56] Speaker 1: love that shit. I love, I love I'm such an
[24:58] Speaker 1: anxious person. I like relish and people's like nerves and
[25:02] Speaker 1: anxiety because it makes like nothing's more likable. If I
[25:05] Speaker 1: see you like you've monetized that. Yeah. Yeah, if I
[25:09] Speaker 1: could like bring you down to my level of misery,
[25:12] Speaker 1: like they make her click my heels, constant fucking medical
[25:18] Speaker 1: misery of anxiety disorder. What's the most wasted you've been
[25:23] Speaker 1: at work? So Dave Grohl came in, Well, whiskey in
[25:28] Speaker 1: my mouth it's said, buckle.
[25:29] Speaker 3: Up, butter goodly literally, so he he brought a bottle
[25:33] Speaker 3: of Crown Royal and he's like, I'm gonna go wing
[25:36] Speaker 3: for He's like, I'm gonna go wing for wing with you,
[25:38] Speaker 3: and you're gonna go shot for shot with me.
[25:40] Speaker 1: Oh, he two shaded you shot for shot.
[25:43] Speaker 2: He was disgusting.
[25:45] Speaker 3: We cleaned out an entire bottle of Crown Royal. And so,
[25:48] Speaker 3: you know, a hot one shoot is like an hour
[25:50] Speaker 3: forty five minutes to an hour. Yeah, No, I rallied through.
[25:52] Speaker 3: I rallied through, and it was like a ten am shoot.
[25:55] Speaker 1: I remember, you know, I walked. Do you have other
[25:57] Speaker 1: things to do that day?
[25:58] Speaker 3: No? I had the schedule clear, but I remember kind
[25:59] Speaker 3: of stumbling out. I don't even smoke cigarettes, but I
[26:02] Speaker 3: was just smoking SIGs with Dave outside and it was awesome.
[26:05] Speaker 1: It was it was actually that sounds like the best
[26:07] Speaker 1: day of your life. It was awesome. You were hammered.
[26:10] Speaker 1: So this one, yeah, yeah, you can watch it. You
[26:14] Speaker 1: can watch it. Amazing girl drinks like that. He could
[26:18] Speaker 1: put it down. Yeah, yeah, that day sober for some reason,
[26:23] Speaker 1: not that day, not that my friend worked in radio.
[26:26] Speaker 1: He said. David Girl was the nicest. He is the
[26:28] Speaker 1: nicest interview he's ever done in his career. He said
[26:31] Speaker 1: he interviewed everybody. I agree with that, he said, out
[26:33] Speaker 1: of everyone I've ever interviewed, David Girl, Yeah, like hands
[26:37] Speaker 1: down champion to interview. He said, he's like super open,
[26:42] Speaker 1: you can ask him anything, so down to earth.
[26:45] Speaker 3: But I find that to be the case of a
[26:47] Speaker 3: lot of people that have been in the game a
[26:49] Speaker 3: long time, you know, that have come out the other
[26:50] Speaker 3: side of that. Those are kind of my favorite people
[26:52] Speaker 3: to interview.
[26:54] Speaker 1: But I think they've been in the game for a
[26:56] Speaker 1: long time because they're easy. Yeah. Actually that's a good point.
[26:59] Speaker 1: I think when you're playing so you become so difficult
[27:01] Speaker 1: to work with. It doesn't matter how famous you are,
[27:03] Speaker 1: how success are, people are like, yeah, yeah, you're a monster.
[27:08] Speaker 1: Everybody is replaceable. So I think that, uh, I think
[27:13] Speaker 1: I think somebody was talking about that. I think Samuel
[27:16] Speaker 1: Jackson was talking about that. He's like, even at my level,
[27:19] Speaker 1: I can't start being a fucking total asshole.
[27:21] Speaker 2: Gun be a little bit of.
[27:22] Speaker 1: An ass Yeah, just a little bit, a little sprinkle.
[27:25] Speaker 1: People could be a little bit of a curmudgeon. But
[27:27] Speaker 1: if you're monstrous, that's your point.
[27:30] Speaker 2: You know. I won't name names.
[27:32] Speaker 1: Well, Sean Hey said it could have been done, and
[27:35] Speaker 1: we did it. I should have done something like in hindsight,
[27:39] Speaker 1: I was not prepared. We should have done I don't
[27:40] Speaker 1: know what the equivalent of Hot Sauce or Crown Royal,
[27:44] Speaker 1: but I should have done a dating role to you.
[27:46] Speaker 3: Well, you know what it was like we were talking
[27:48] Speaker 3: before when you're like, oh, can't I just like talk
[27:50] Speaker 3: about my movie or whatever? You know, sometimes there's no
[27:52] Speaker 3: need to overproduce, you know what I'm saying. Put put
[27:55] Speaker 3: a concept to it. Like last night I was watching
[27:57] Speaker 3: the football game. They had this pregame show where it
[27:59] Speaker 3: was like Patrick Mahomes getting interviewed, but they like they're
[28:03] Speaker 3: like having a catch and they were like throwing a
[28:05] Speaker 3: football around and I was like, and it and they
[28:09] Speaker 3: have to like yell at each other like while they're
[28:11] Speaker 3: doing the interview because they're playing.
[28:13] Speaker 1: And I was like, what happened to just people sitting
[28:14] Speaker 1: and sit down and talking? Did I ruin? This? Is
[28:17] Speaker 1: this my influence? You know what I mean? That's when
[28:19] Speaker 1: I feel like maybe I'm leaving the world the worst
[28:21] Speaker 1: place when because your your thing has it's not rigid
[28:26] Speaker 1: like that feels very like tossing the ball and yelling
[28:29] Speaker 1: feels very like they're overthinking. Yeah, yours has like a
[28:33] Speaker 1: there's no rigidity to it. It feels like it feels
[28:36] Speaker 1: like a casual hang because you would eat hot chicken
[28:37] Speaker 1: wings with your friends, you know what I mean. So
[28:39] Speaker 1: that's relatable. That's not like, hey, what's up man, indoors?
[28:46] Speaker 1: Father and son fucking ball catching indoors to grown man?
[28:54] Speaker 1: What could I have done? That was like a hot
[28:56] Speaker 1: hot wing challenge?
[28:58] Speaker 2: What is? What is?
[28:59] Speaker 1: What causes you discomfort in a challenging way, like whiskey
[29:04] Speaker 1: and hot sauce. Yeah, but they also kind of air
[29:06] Speaker 1: and nice, you know they do? Because does an alcohol
[29:09] Speaker 1: cut the cut the little bit heat? Because I think
[29:12] Speaker 1: it was it was either Jamie Oliver or or Alton Brown.
[29:15] Speaker 1: That was like the only thing you can do is
[29:16] Speaker 1: animal fat or booze, right to get the heat. It's
[29:19] Speaker 1: either got to be milk, butter, buttermilk or or ice
[29:23] Speaker 1: cream some animal fat to cut it, or alcohol, right yeah,
[29:28] Speaker 1: because water doesn't cut it. No, it just kind of
[29:30] Speaker 1: moves it around. It just moves around the heat. Yeah,
[29:32] Speaker 1: it's got to be milk like milkshakes, right, yeah, and
[29:35] Speaker 1: go to for for heat reduction.
[29:36] Speaker 3: As our guests have gotten more and more famous over
[29:39] Speaker 3: the years, the milks have become more and more exotic,
[29:41] Speaker 3: you know, and then now.
[29:42] Speaker 1: People are like substituted in milk that's you know, not whole.
[29:45] Speaker 1: You know, it's just crazy la milks, you know, and
[29:48] Speaker 1: without animal Yeah yeah, almond and might as well be
[29:51] Speaker 1: drinking water. Yeah yeah, Wait a minute. What's your most
[29:54] Speaker 1: successful hot ones?
[29:55] Speaker 3: Gordon Ramsey by far, I think Billy eil Like Billy
[29:59] Speaker 3: Eilish is our second biggest episode. It has like half
[30:01] Speaker 3: as many views as that thing has like one hundred
[30:03] Speaker 3: and thirty million views or something like that. But I
[30:06] Speaker 3: think what it was is when we first started doing
[30:08] Speaker 3: the show, he was the most requested guest by far.
[30:11] Speaker 3: You know, I almost felt bad for when we started
[30:13] Speaker 3: putting out episodes because it's be like on the show
[30:16] Speaker 3: this week, Eric Andre and all the comments back, word's
[30:19] Speaker 3: Gordon Ramsey? When's Gordon Ramsey?
[30:20] Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
[30:20] Speaker 3: I felt like almost impossible to do the show until
[30:23] Speaker 3: we got him in. And I think it makes sense.
[30:26] Speaker 3: You like the food component. I think people want to
[30:27] Speaker 3: see him like yell at us about the quality of
[30:30] Speaker 3: the wings. Like I think he just naturally fit that
[30:32] Speaker 3: chair so well. And so then when it finally happened,
[30:35] Speaker 3: it was like an internet fever dream coming together.
[30:39] Speaker 1: Hot blooded guy. People wanted to see him. Yeah, yeah,
[30:42] Speaker 1: how did he do? Awesome? And he's he took wings down.
[30:45] Speaker 1: Yeah he's actually and he came back and did it again.
[30:47] Speaker 3: Actually we did a holiday special tailor and I've had
[30:50] Speaker 3: dinner in Hell's kitchen before.
[30:53] Speaker 1: No, he's he's Dave roll off the camera y. Yeah, yeah,
[30:57] Speaker 1: there's no way that he that's got to be performed. Yeah. Yeah,
[31:00] Speaker 1: he's a I met a bunch of those reality people
[31:02] Speaker 1: that are like as sweet as pie, and I'm like,
[31:05] Speaker 1: why did they make you do this? This like Simon
[31:07] Speaker 1: Cowell model of like I guess you gotta put you
[31:10] Speaker 1: got to inject trauma.
[31:12] Speaker 2: Conflict.
[31:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, conflict. Maybe that's what I trying to do.
[31:14] Speaker 2: The whole time. Yeah.
[31:16] Speaker 1: Maybe maybe he has a three dimensional chest kind of
[31:18] Speaker 1: attitude about it and he's trying to inject some conflict. Yeah.
[31:21] Speaker 1: I really actually do believe part of that because he
[31:23] Speaker 1: was so sweet off camera talking about Johnny Mitchell or whatever,
[31:28] Speaker 1: and that he was like doing this stick. I can
[31:30] Speaker 1: see that if I was like twenty two years old.
[31:32] Speaker 1: And also it felt like nervous. He felt nervous. He
[31:34] Speaker 1: felt like it felt like this, like anxiety to deliver
[31:38] Speaker 1: something edge, lordy and controversial. And I was like, all right, man,
[31:42] Speaker 1: you're bumming everybody out. Even his manager was like, fuck Sean,
[31:48] Speaker 1: thank you man, thank.
[31:49] Speaker 2: You with a recondre.
[31:54] Speaker 1: Hey, before you go, I want to let you know
[31:55] Speaker 1: I got a new book out that I wrote with
[31:57] Speaker 1: my friend Dan Curry. It is gold Dumb ideas behind
[32:01] Speaker 1: the scenes, expose I'm making pranks and other stupid creative
[32:04] Speaker 1: endeavors and how you can also too. It's out now
[32:07] Speaker 1: and you can get it anywhere you buy books or
[32:08] Speaker 1: audio books. Now, here's a special clip from the audio book,
[32:11] Speaker 1: just for you. I always dreamed of being arrested while
[32:13] Speaker 1: doing comedy. Then I finally did. During Season one of
[32:15] Speaker 1: The Ericndra Show, I went to a town all meeting
[32:18] Speaker 1: dressed like a frat boy. While the mayor of this
[32:20] Speaker 1: pode in California town called Rancho Cucamonga No Joke, was
[32:23] Speaker 1: babbling on about god knows what. I dressed like a
[32:27] Speaker 1: frat boy, ran up to the podium and said, hey,
[32:29] Speaker 1: y'all vote for me for class president, and I'll put
[32:32] Speaker 1: beer in the water fountains and cameras in the girls'
[32:35] Speaker 1: locker rooms. Woo go, Bobcats. This half baked character was
[32:39] Speaker 1: inspired by any Porky's loving dipshit from my first high
[32:41] Speaker 1: school kinda. If you read that last sentence and got
[32:44] Speaker 1: the porky reference, give yourself a pork sandwich, then poke
[32:48] Speaker 1: a gloryhole in your own shower. That movie didn't age well.
[32:52] Speaker 1: This evening town hall meeting was attended by the mayor
[32:54] Speaker 1: and twelve sheriffs. These municipal hot shots didn't share my
[32:58] Speaker 1: sense of humor and promptly detail. The sun was setting,
[33:01] Speaker 1: the air was thick. I was on a high. The
[33:03] Speaker 1: sheriff's escorted me outside of the parking lot and kept
[33:06] Speaker 1: asking for my name. I told them my name was
[33:09] Speaker 1: John Coltrane. They kept trying to look me up in
[33:11] Speaker 1: their cop car laptop and they would lament, you're not
[33:14] Speaker 1: coming up in the system, Coltrane. This one cop came
[33:17] Speaker 1: up to me and went how many drugs are you on?
[33:20] Speaker 1: And I was stone cold sober, so I self cued
[33:23] Speaker 1: the classic sobriety test and started nailing them. Still in character,
[33:28] Speaker 1: I leaned my head back and started tapping my nose
[33:30] Speaker 1: and saying the alphabet backwards flawlessly, ze why XWVUT. Then
[33:36] Speaker 1: I walked in a straight line, over and over again.
[33:38] Speaker 1: These sheriffs were beside themselves. This is the most sober
[33:41] Speaker 1: idiot we've ever seen. Finally, the head boss sheriff softened.
[33:46] Speaker 1: I don't want to arrest you, guy, but I just
[33:48] Speaker 1: have to arrest you since you made such a scene
[33:50] Speaker 1: in front of my boss. Poor guy, he just had
[33:53] Speaker 1: to arrest me. I can't imagine the emotional pain and
[33:56] Speaker 1: trauma he suffered while cuffing me. Ill with Eric Anddre
