[0:00] Speaker 1: Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it
[0:02] Speaker 1: is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4.23 Dear Heavenly Father,
[0:08] Speaker 1: we praise you for your love, truth, and grace that
[0:11] Speaker 1: transforms our hearts from the inside out. Help us to
[0:14] Speaker 1: understand the importance of guarding our hearts, the wellsprings of life.
[0:19] Speaker 1: Teach us to be vigilant against the temptations, distractions, and
[0:22] Speaker 1: negativity that can so easily invade our thoughts and feelings.
[0:26] Speaker 1: Grant us the discernment to recognize what feeds our souls
[0:30] Speaker 1: and what depletes them. Fill our hearts with your truth, love,
[0:34] Speaker 1: and peace so that our words and actions may reflect
[0:37] Speaker 1: your goodness. In this ever-changing world, may our hearts remain
[0:41] Speaker 1: steadfast in you, anchored in faith, overflowing with compassion, and
[0:46] Speaker 1: aligned with your will. And it's in the name of Jesus,
[0:49] Speaker 1: our Rock and our Redeemer, we pray. Amen. Welcome to PreNews,
[0:55] Speaker 1: where hope is our only bias. Today's news at a glance,
[0:58] Speaker 1: breaking news out of Georgia. Donald Trump has been indicted
[1:01] Speaker 1: for the fourth time in five months. Lies about the
[1:05] Speaker 1: iconic story, The Blindside, have us, well, blindsided. And four
[1:10] Speaker 1: divers who were lost off the coast of South Carolina
[1:12] Speaker 1: have been rescued. Today's news reminds us that the truth
[1:16] Speaker 1: can sometimes be hard to uncover. Egos, interests, and feelings
[1:20] Speaker 1: can cloud our vision. That is why we are so
[1:22] Speaker 1: thankful for God's word. While election scandals, corporate corruption, and
[1:26] Speaker 1: relational strife can have us reeling in confusion, we are
[1:29] Speaker 1: grateful that God has made himself clear through his mighty
[1:32] Speaker 1: and wonderful word. We're glad you're here with us today.
[1:36] Speaker 1: We Pray Today leaves you informed and transformed. If you've
[1:39] Speaker 1: been blessed by Pray News so far, consider sharing this
[1:42] Speaker 1: episode with a friend. We want everyone to be impacted
[1:45] Speaker 1: by the hope of the gospel amidst current events and strife.
[1:49] Speaker 1: Our first story of today is out of Georgia. On Monday,
[1:52] Speaker 1: Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and 18 other Trump allies were
[1:55] Speaker 1: indicted in Georgia in a criminal case that aims to
[1:58] Speaker 1: reveal a broad conspiracy to overturn Joe Biden's electoral victory
[2:02] Speaker 1: in Georgia. This indictment marks the fourth time the former
[2:06] Speaker 1: president has been indicted this year, adding to his legal
[2:10] Speaker 1: challenges ahead of the 2024 election. Fulton County's district attorney
[2:15] Speaker 1: brought charges. The indictment is built on the state's sweeping
[2:18] Speaker 1: anti-racketeering law, describing an elaborate plot to maintain power amidst
[2:24] Speaker 1: a campaign that was charged with controversy. The charges include
[2:28] Speaker 1: 13 felonies alleging that Trump pushed false claims of voter
[2:32] Speaker 1: fraud in Georgia and pressured Republican officials to secure the
[2:36] Speaker 1: state's electoral college votes. The indictment details 161 separate acts
[2:42] Speaker 1: covering battleground states and alleges a sweeping criminal conspiracy to
[2:46] Speaker 1: undermine U.S. democracy. Bolton County District Attorney Fannie Willis' investigation
[2:52] Speaker 1: lasted more than two years and presents a more detailed
[2:54] Speaker 1: view of the alleged conspiracy than the federal case Trump
[2:58] Speaker 1: faces in Washington currently. Besides Trump, significant figures such as
[3:02] Speaker 1: Rudy Giuliani, former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows,
[3:05] Speaker 1: legal advisor Sidney Powell, John Eastman, and Kenneth Cheeseborough were
[3:09] Speaker 1: among those that were charged. Several individuals were charged with
[3:12] Speaker 1: conspiracy to commit computer theft. Alleged false claims that voting
[3:16] Speaker 1: machines were hacked to shift votes from Trump to Biden
[3:19] Speaker 1: and lawyers, former Trump administration officials and fake electors are
[3:23] Speaker 1: also among some of the defendants with several different charges
[3:26] Speaker 1: brought against them. Trump's reaction was as expected. He declared
[3:29] Speaker 1: the investigation a witch hunt, questioning the timing, which many
[3:32] Speaker 1: people are questioning the timing. Why now are these investigations
[3:35] Speaker 1: coming to light? Rudy Giuliani called the indictment an affront
[3:39] Speaker 1: to American democracy. The political reaction is split along usual
[3:43] Speaker 1: partisan lines, with the Republicans accusing bias and the Democrats
[3:46] Speaker 1: emphasizing the importance of facing consequences. This is the continual
[3:51] Speaker 1: political landscape that we find ourselves in. What makes this
[3:54] Speaker 1: indictment unique is what's called the RICO Act. The charges
[3:57] Speaker 1: were laid under Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, RICO.
[4:02] Speaker 1: It's a state law patterned after federal law initially intended
[4:06] Speaker 1: to combat organized crime mob bosses, but are now applied
[4:09] Speaker 1: to white-collar crime and political corruption. This act allowed prosecutors
[4:13] Speaker 1: to tie various crimes committed by different people, arguing that
[4:16] Speaker 1: they were acting together for a common criminal goal. Willis
[4:19] Speaker 1: stated that 19 defendants were part of a criminal enterprise
[4:23] Speaker 1: with the illegal goal of allowing Trump to seize the presidency.
[4:26] Speaker 1: The indictment in Georgia represents a comprehensive approach to the
[4:29] Speaker 1: alleged attempts to subvert the democratic process. The charges leveled
[4:34] Speaker 1: against Trump and his associates are weighty and mark a
[4:37] Speaker 1: pivotal moment in the ongoing legal battles. Despite the four
[4:41] Speaker 1: indictments in just five months, though, Donald Trump remains the
[4:44] Speaker 1: frontrunner for the Republican nomination, polling over 50% above all
[4:49] Speaker 1: of his counterparts. This is when we attempt to reflect
[4:53] Speaker 1: on the news instead of react to the news. What's
[4:56] Speaker 1: the difference? Well, pundits and politicians, they react to the news.
[4:59] Speaker 1: They see each story as a way to reinforce their
[5:02] Speaker 1: already held beliefs on the topic. The truth is, there
[5:05] Speaker 1: are far too many unknowns for us to make a
[5:07] Speaker 1: genuine reaction. Investigations and trials will take place, and hopefully
[5:12] Speaker 1: we will slowly peel back the layers of conspiracies, corruption,
[5:15] Speaker 1: and crimes. For now, we will reflect instead of react
[5:19] Speaker 1: on this story to make this an opportunity to ask
[5:22] Speaker 1: God to search our own hearts. Proverbs 4.23 says, Watch
[5:25] Speaker 1: over your own heart with diligence, for from it springs
[5:28] Speaker 1: all life. The lives we lead are a reflection of
[5:31] Speaker 1: our hearts. If we allow lies, corruption, greed, and pride
[5:35] Speaker 1: to take root in our hearts, it will leak out
[5:37] Speaker 1: into our actions, relationships, and jobs. Political corruption and scandal
[5:41] Speaker 1: are exaggerated examples of humanity's potential and proclivity towards corruption.
[5:47] Speaker 1: We must never fool ourselves into thinking that we can't
[5:49] Speaker 1: also stumble in our own lives. This story also reminds
[5:53] Speaker 1: us of the power of our words. James 3, 2-5
[5:57] Speaker 1: says this, For we all stumble in many ways. Anyone
[5:59] Speaker 1: who doesn't stumble in word is a perfect person. The
[6:02] Speaker 1: ships also, though they are big, are driven by fierce
[6:05] Speaker 1: winds and yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever
[6:09] Speaker 1: the pilot desires. So the tongue is also a little
[6:12] Speaker 1: member and boasts great things. See how a small fire
[6:15] Speaker 1: can spread to such large forests. When exploring stories like these,
[6:20] Speaker 1: we're reminded that our words hold power. The smallest word
[6:23] Speaker 1: here or there sparks different types of reactions. They have
[6:27] Speaker 1: the ability to build up, inspire, and mobilize people. But words,
[6:31] Speaker 1: when left unchecked and unbridled, man, they can cause some
[6:34] Speaker 1: serious damage. We are going to be praying for righteousness
[6:38] Speaker 1: to prevail and for the Lord to bridle our tongues
[6:41] Speaker 1: as we discuss these different types of issues. In all
[6:44] Speaker 1: these proceedings, we pray God would guide people with wisdom
[6:48] Speaker 1: and fairness without bias or political motivation. And as believers,
[6:51] Speaker 1: our calling is to pray for our leaders and those
[6:54] Speaker 1: in authority. Let us remember the importance of integrity in
[6:57] Speaker 1: leadership and integrity in our own lives. So, we're going
[7:02] Speaker 1: to continue to pray for these complex and challenging times. Lord,
[7:06] Speaker 1: as we reflect on the significant legal development, we pray
[7:08] Speaker 1: for wisdom, integrity, and righteousness in the proceedings. May justice
[7:12] Speaker 1: be served without bias or political motivation. Guide our leaders
[7:16] Speaker 1: and those in authority and help us as citizens to
[7:19] Speaker 1: strive for honesty and virtue in our own lives. Let
[7:22] Speaker 1: our words build up and inspire rather than tear down
[7:26] Speaker 1: and destroy. And may our hearts ever be aligned with
[7:29] Speaker 1: your principles of truth, justice, mercy, and grace. We pray
[7:35] Speaker 1: all of these things with trust in Jesus' name. Amen.
[7:38] Speaker 1: Do you remember that pivotal moment where football fans and
[7:41] Speaker 1: Sandra Bullock fans alike unified under the lights of the
[7:45] Speaker 1: big screen to watch The Blind Side? Well, the real-life
[7:48] Speaker 1: story that inspired the heartwarming film has turned into a
[7:51] Speaker 1: legal drama filled with allegations, denials, and all the plot
[7:55] Speaker 1: complications one would expect from a summer blockbuster. Michael Orr,
[7:59] Speaker 1: the retired football player whose early life and career were
[8:01] Speaker 1: chronicled by The Blind Side, has filed a lawsuit against
[8:04] Speaker 1: Sean and Leigh-Anne Toohey. the family that took him in
[8:07] Speaker 1: during his teenage years. According to Orr's petition, the Toohey's
[8:10] Speaker 1: had him sign papers of conservatorship, which they allegedly used
[8:15] Speaker 1: to make millions off his name and likeness. The lawsuit
[8:18] Speaker 1: alleges that Orr was never adopted by the family, a
[8:21] Speaker 1: claim that has left both the public and certain sports
[8:24] Speaker 1: writers and Sandra Bullock fans astonished. The petition is looking
[8:28] Speaker 1: to end the conservatorship and recoup money that the Toohey's
[8:32] Speaker 1: have made from arrangements related to the 2009 film that
[8:36] Speaker 1: grossed over $ 300 million worldwide. Michael Orr said that the
[8:41] Speaker 1: document signed in 2007 gave away his rights to his
[8:44] Speaker 1: entire life story without payment. The lawyer that was listed
[8:48] Speaker 1: in that document, a close family friend of the Toohey's,
[8:50] Speaker 1: which adds some suspicion to the entire story. The Toohey
[8:54] Speaker 1: family contends that Orr did receive his share of the
[8:57] Speaker 1: money from the film, an assertion that has been met
[8:59] Speaker 1: with skepticism. In a recent interview, Sean Tuohy explains that
[9:03] Speaker 1: he made more than $ 200 million selling fast food franchises,
[9:07] Speaker 1: proving that he didn't need to coerce Michael to make money.
[9:10] Speaker 1: Leanne Tuohy, on the other hand, has made a career
[9:13] Speaker 1: off the compelling message of hope, devotion, and compassion portrayed
[9:16] Speaker 1: in The Blind Side. She is a traveling motivational speaker
[9:19] Speaker 1: whose message hinges on some life events now brought to question.
[9:24] Speaker 1: This unfolding saga serves as a reminder of the importance
[9:28] Speaker 1: of truth, integrity, and transparency in all of our relationships.
[9:32] Speaker 1: The very family bonds that were once portrayed as inspiring
[9:35] Speaker 1: are now under scrutiny, leaving many fans heartbroken and confused.
[9:39] Speaker 1: The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 12.22, As the legal
[9:47] Speaker 1: battle plays out, we can only hope that the truth
[9:49] Speaker 1: will be revealed, justice served, and that everyone involved will
[9:52] Speaker 1: find the strength to heal and move forward in faith.
[9:55] Speaker 1: The story of the blind side once touched hearts across
[9:58] Speaker 1: the nation. Now a challenge us to reflect on the
[10:01] Speaker 1: complexities of human relationships, the value of honesty, and the
[10:04] Speaker 1: potential consequences of deception. So with all these things, let's
[10:09] Speaker 1: lift this up in prayer. Lord, as we navigate the
[10:12] Speaker 1: complexities of human relationships, let us be guided by truth, integrity,
[10:16] Speaker 1: and compassion. In the midst of this legal turmoil, we
[10:19] Speaker 1: pray for wisdom and justice for all involved. We pray
[10:22] Speaker 1: for Michael Orr, who had a tough upbringing. Would you
[10:25] Speaker 1: visit him? Would you be with him? We pray for
[10:28] Speaker 1: the Tooheys, who might feel betrayed by Michael. Would you
[10:31] Speaker 1: give them compassion and mercy? May this situation remind us
[10:35] Speaker 1: of the importance of honesty and trustworthiness. Would you imbue
[10:38] Speaker 1: with us these values? And may our hearts be ever
[10:41] Speaker 1: aligned with your principles of justice, love, compassion, mercy. We
[10:45] Speaker 1: love you, Lord. We trust you. that you will transform
[10:48] Speaker 1: us so that our relationships can reflect your goodness. In Jesus' name, amen.
[10:54] Speaker 1: Our last story of today is some good news. In
[10:56] Speaker 1: an astonishing rescue that can only be described as miraculous,
[10:59] Speaker 1: the U.S. Coast Guard, along with other sea and air assets,
[11:02] Speaker 1: successfully found and brought to safety four divers who went
[11:05] Speaker 1: missing off the coast of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
[11:09] Speaker 1: The divers had been lost in the vast Atlantic Ocean
[11:11] Speaker 1: for more than 60 miles before being spotted and rescued.
[11:15] Speaker 1: The story began with a pleasure boat named Big Bills,
[11:18] Speaker 1: from which the four divers, Ben Wiggins, Luke Lodge, Daniel Williams,
[11:22] Speaker 1: and Evan Williams, embarked on a dive around noon on Sunday.
[11:26] Speaker 1: When they failed to resurface as expected, an extensive search
[11:30] Speaker 1: was launched involving helicopters, aircrafts, and boats, all working in
[11:34] Speaker 1: coordination to scour the ocean. Jonathan Lally, the Coast Guard spokesman,
[11:38] Speaker 1: painted a vivid picture of the challenge. He said, unlike
[11:41] Speaker 1: being on a road where you can be on a
[11:44] Speaker 1: roadway and cars are passing on a fairly regular basis,
[11:47] Speaker 1: in the maritime domain it's not as easy, citing the
[11:50] Speaker 1: ocean's vast expanses as a reason for numerous partnerships in
[11:53] Speaker 1: times of emergency. The search and rescue attempt stretched late
[11:57] Speaker 1: into the night, with crews tirelessly calculating drift patterns and
[12:00] Speaker 1: water currents. Finally, in a moment that must have felt
[12:03] Speaker 1: like divine intervention, one of the Coast Guards spotted an
[12:07] Speaker 1: SOS strobe light. Guided by the aircraft's cameras, a U.S.
[12:11] Speaker 1: Navy warship, the USS Porter, was directed to the divers,
[12:15] Speaker 1: providing them refuge as Coast Guard rescuers headed to the scene.
[12:19] Speaker 1: The rescue was indeed a joyful occasion. Upon their arrival
[12:22] Speaker 1: at the Coast Guard station in Oak Island, North Carolina
[12:24] Speaker 1: at 6.10 a.m., the divers were met with an emotional
[12:28] Speaker 1: reunion from their friends and their families and their loved ones,
[12:31] Speaker 1: relieved and grateful for their safe return. The specifics on
[12:35] Speaker 1: how the divers fell into danger in the first place
[12:37] Speaker 1: and how they managed to stay afloat during their distress
[12:40] Speaker 1: remain a mystery. However, as Lally emphasized, the big thing
[12:44] Speaker 1: is the fact that we were able to bring them
[12:46] Speaker 1: back home safely and reunite them with their friends and family.
[12:50] Speaker 1: In times of peril, one's faith often becomes a beacon
[12:53] Speaker 1: of hope. The miraculous rescue of these divers serves as
[12:56] Speaker 1: a reminder that even in the most daunting circumstances, hope, courage,
[13:00] Speaker 1: and teamwork can triumph. The unyielding determination of the rescuers
[13:04] Speaker 1: coupled with the endurance of the divers echoes the biblical
[13:07] Speaker 1: teaching of perseverance in faith in the face of adversity.
[13:10] Speaker 1: Have you been falling on hard times lately? Have you
[13:13] Speaker 1: felt weary and like you can't press forward? Let today
[13:16] Speaker 1: be a reminder that not only is the Lord searching
[13:20] Speaker 1: after you like a shepherd after his lost sheep, but
[13:23] Speaker 1: you have people around you who want to uplift you,
[13:25] Speaker 1: sharing in your burdens as you press forward towards righteousness, mercy,
[13:30] Speaker 1: and grace. This event illuminates the importance of community and
[13:34] Speaker 1: the way God's grace often works through human hands. So
[13:37] Speaker 1: let this be a reminder to you. You're not alone.
[13:40] Speaker 1: You have a God who loves you and a community
[13:42] Speaker 1: that wants to wrap its arms around you in whatever
[13:45] Speaker 1: circumstance you're facing. In the words of Psalm 91 11,
[13:49] Speaker 1: for he will command his angels concerning you to guard
[13:51] Speaker 1: you in all your ways. The rescue of these divers
[13:54] Speaker 1: may very well be a modern day illustration of this
[13:57] Speaker 1: timeless truth. a narrative of survival, unity, and community's unwavering
[14:01] Speaker 1: faith in each other and the higher power guiding them.
[14:05] Speaker 1: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the miraculous rescue of
[14:08] Speaker 1: these divers and the unyielding determination of the rescue team.
[14:12] Speaker 1: In the face of immense challenge and danger, your guiding
[14:15] Speaker 1: hand was evident. We pray for your continual protection and
[14:18] Speaker 1: grace over those who risk their lives for others. And
[14:21] Speaker 1: may this event strengthen our faith and remind us of
[14:23] Speaker 1: your ever-present love and care. We, like sheep, may go astray,
[14:28] Speaker 1: but you, as the good shepherd, are always willing to
[14:31] Speaker 1: lay your life down for the sheep. May those who
[14:34] Speaker 1: are lost be found in you, and may those who
[14:37] Speaker 1: are wandering find safe haven in your loving embrace. We
[14:40] Speaker 1: pray these things in Jesus' name. Amen. Thank you for
