[0:00] Speaker 1: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the
[0:03] Speaker 1: evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11.1 Dear Lord, we
[0:08] Speaker 1: ask that you would deepen our faith, giving us the
[0:10] Speaker 1: confidence to trust in your promises, even when we can't
[0:13] Speaker 1: see the outcome. Help us to live with an unwavering
[0:16] Speaker 1: faith that leans on your understanding and not our own.
[0:20] Speaker 1: In times of doubt or uncertainty, remind us of your faithfulness, love,
[0:25] Speaker 1: and ability to accomplish all things. May our faith be
[0:28] Speaker 1: rooted in you, unwavering and strong, reflecting our complete trust
[0:33] Speaker 1: in your character and your word. Teach us to walk
[0:36] Speaker 1: by faith and not by sight, knowing that you are
[0:39] Speaker 1: guiding us every step of the way. May our faith
[0:42] Speaker 1: inspire others to seek you and trust in your goodness.
[0:46] Speaker 1: Thank you, Lord, for the gift of faith and for
[0:48] Speaker 1: your presence in our lives, ever guiding us and changing
[0:51] Speaker 1: us from the inside out. In Jesus' mighty name we pray, amen.
[0:56] Speaker 1: Welcome to PreNews, where hope is our only bias. Today's
[0:59] Speaker 1: news at a glance, Chandairaan 3 successfully lands on the
[1:02] Speaker 1: south pole of the moon, signaling a new era for India.
[1:05] Speaker 1: Hollywood studios have made a new offer to the striking writers.
[1:08] Speaker 1: Will they take it? And Trump plans to surrender himself
[1:11] Speaker 1: to authorities in Georgia. We say hope is our only bias,
[1:15] Speaker 1: but what does that really mean exactly? Some people think
[1:18] Speaker 1: being hopeful means ignoring all the bad things and focusing
[1:21] Speaker 1: only on the positive. While that's tempting, it ignores the
[1:24] Speaker 1: heart of God. The Lord has his eyes on the
[1:27] Speaker 1: brokenness of this world and calls you and I to
[1:29] Speaker 1: address it with love, compassion, and truth. Hope is our
[1:33] Speaker 1: only bias as a declaration that even in the midst
[1:35] Speaker 1: of brokenness, corruption, and heartache, God is in control and
[1:39] Speaker 1: using us to make the world a better place. Faith
[1:42] Speaker 1: is the substance of things hoped for, and our faith
[1:45] Speaker 1: is anchored in the hope that Christ can redeem any situation, culture,
[1:48] Speaker 1: or individual. So we're glad you're here with us today,
[1:51] Speaker 1: relentlessly clinging to hope. If Pray News has blessed you,
[1:56] Speaker 1: consider sharing it with a friend. We want everyone to
[1:58] Speaker 1: experience the hope of the gospel being both informed and transformed.
[2:02] Speaker 1: Before we get to our first story, let's hear a
[2:04] Speaker 1: word from these sponsors. In an awe-inspiring display of scientific
[2:09] Speaker 1: prowess and determination, India achieved a monumental milestone with the
[2:13] Speaker 1: successful landing of Shandiran-3 on the moon's rugged, unexplored South Pole.
[2:19] Speaker 1: The entire nation erupted in joy and pride as Prime
[2:22] Speaker 1: Minister Modi heralded the event as the victory cry of
[2:26] Speaker 1: a new India, a sentiment echoed across the country with
[2:29] Speaker 1: jubilant celebrations. The Chandairaan-3 mission, which landed on the moon
[2:34] Speaker 1: on Wednesday morning, marks a pivotal achievement for India and
[2:37] Speaker 1: a significant advancement in lunar exploration. It is a triumph
[2:41] Speaker 1: that comes just days after a similar Russian mission failed,
[2:44] Speaker 1: emphasizing the expertise and resilience of Indian space engineers. Scientists
[2:49] Speaker 1: and officials at the Indian Space Research Organization embraced, cheered,
[2:53] Speaker 1: and clapped as the spacecraft made its triumphant touchdown. Across India,
[2:57] Speaker 1: people danced in the streets, setting off firecrackers in celebration.
[3:01] Speaker 1: Nearly 7 million watched the monumentous event live on YouTube.
[3:06] Speaker 1: Chandrayaan-3 is India's second attempt to land on the moon
[3:09] Speaker 1: following the Chandrayaan-2 mission in 2019, which successfully deployed an
[3:14] Speaker 1: orbiter but suffered a crash landing of its lander. This time,
[3:18] Speaker 1: the mission was flawless, and the spacecraft is expected to
[3:21] Speaker 1: remain operational for two weeks, conducting various experiments and analyzing
[3:25] Speaker 1: the lunar surface. The success of this mission has bolstered
[3:28] Speaker 1: India's confidence in space exploration, with ambitious plans extending to
[3:32] Speaker 1: potential voyages to Mars and even Venus. India's reputation for
[3:37] Speaker 1: cost-competitive space engineering shines brightly with Shandaryam-3, launched with a
[3:42] Speaker 1: budget of about 6.15 billion rupees, which is 74 million dollars.
[3:47] Speaker 1: To give you some perspective that's less than the cost
[3:50] Speaker 1: of producing the 2013 Hollywood movie, Gravity. The mission demonstrates
[3:55] Speaker 1: India's ability to achieve greatness without an extravagant budget. The
[4:00] Speaker 1: significance of the South Pole landing is immense as the
[4:02] Speaker 1: region's ice could supply vital resources for future missions. Experts
[4:07] Speaker 1: believe that exploring this area of the moon may reveal
[4:09] Speaker 1: essential data about its geology. Anticipation and excitement were palpable
[4:14] Speaker 1: through India. Children waved the Indian tricolor, and people gathered
[4:18] Speaker 1: to pray for a successful landing. This mission united the
[4:21] Speaker 1: nation in hope and celebration, transcending boundaries of religion and region.
[4:26] Speaker 1: The successful landing of Shandiram III is a testament to
[4:29] Speaker 1: human ingenuity, determination, and collaboration. India's accomplishment reflects endless potential
[4:35] Speaker 1: of human creativity and highlights a sense of unity and
[4:38] Speaker 1: shared joy. We are, after all, made in the image
[4:40] Speaker 1: of God. So pushing the envelope of creativity and ingenuity
[4:45] Speaker 1: ultimately reflects our creative God, our powerful God. Romans 12.5
[4:50] Speaker 1: calls us to rejoice with those who rejoice. So we're
[4:53] Speaker 1: going to give a big round of applause to everyone
[4:55] Speaker 1: who made this moment of triumph possible because it paves
[4:58] Speaker 1: the way for other scientists, engineers, and organizations to also
[5:02] Speaker 1: do what India accomplished. We congratulate India for its scientific
[5:06] Speaker 1: and technological progress and reflect on the creator's vast and
[5:09] Speaker 1: mysterious universe. It's an innovation for all of us to
[5:13] Speaker 1: gaze at the heavens with wonder and gratitude, recognizing our
[5:16] Speaker 1: small but significant place in the cosmos, guided by faith
[5:20] Speaker 1: and striving towards greater understanding and harmony. So, with that
[5:24] Speaker 1: being said, let's lift this all up in prayer. Creator
[5:27] Speaker 1: of the universe, we give thanks for the success of
[5:29] Speaker 1: India's Shandiram 3 mission, a testament to human creativity, determination,
[5:33] Speaker 1: and collaboration, which are all qualities that glorify you. Inspire
[5:38] Speaker 1: us all to reach for the stars with humility and wonder.
[5:40] Speaker 1: recognizing our place in your vast cosmos. Bless those who
[5:44] Speaker 1: strive to explore and understand, and may their efforts bring unity, knowledge,
[5:47] Speaker 1: and gratitude to all. It's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
[5:52] Speaker 1: Our second story of today is an update on the
[5:54] Speaker 1: ongoing strikes happening in Hollywood. The lights of Tinseltown have
[5:57] Speaker 1: been dimmed by a writer's strike that's now entering its
[6:00] Speaker 1: fourth month, throwing the 2023 and 24 television season and
[6:05] Speaker 1: many high-profile movie releases into uncertainty. On Tuesday, the coalition
[6:10] Speaker 1: representing Hollywood Studios and streaming services made public its latest
[6:14] Speaker 1: offer to the Writers Guild of America, hoping to break
[6:17] Speaker 1: the deadlock. The current strike, which resonates throughout the entertainment industry,
[6:21] Speaker 1: revolves around several key issues, and both sides seem to
[6:24] Speaker 1: be committed to their stance. They've been at a stalemate
[6:27] Speaker 1: for a while. So the Alliance of Motion Picture and
[6:30] Speaker 1: Television Producers, representing major companies including Disney, Warner Bros., Netflix, Amazon,
[6:35] Speaker 1: and Paramount, believes its latest offer meets the priority concerns
[6:39] Speaker 1: expressed by the writers and the actors. The concession in
[6:42] Speaker 1: their offer include the following. One, a guaranteed minimum length
[6:46] Speaker 1: of employment, so the studios have offered to ensure a
[6:49] Speaker 1: specific length of employment for writers. Two, controls around AI.
[6:54] Speaker 1: This has been a hot-button issue within the industry. The
[6:56] Speaker 1: AMPTP has agreed to provide safeguards to protect writers' compensation
[7:00] Speaker 1: and rights when artificial intelligence is used in scripting. Three,
[7:05] Speaker 1: Wage and residuals increases. The studio has offered a compound 13%
[7:09] Speaker 1: wage increase over a three-year contract period and a 15%
[7:13] Speaker 1: bump for writers serving as producers on TV shows in
[7:16] Speaker 1: the first year. Additionally, there's a 21.5% jump in worldwide
[7:21] Speaker 1: residuals for high-budget streaming shows. Four, quarterly reports on viewing hours.
[7:26] Speaker 1: The offer includes a proposal to share additional data on
[7:29] Speaker 1: how shows performed on quarterly bases. Carol Lombardini, who is
[7:34] Speaker 1: the president of the AMPTP, said this, We are deeply
[7:37] Speaker 1: committed to ending the strike and are hopeful that the
[7:39] Speaker 1: WGA will work toward the same resolution. The WGA's reaction
[7:45] Speaker 1: was less optimistic, though. They criticized the offer as inadequate, saying,
[7:49] Speaker 1: This wasn't a meeting to make a deal. This was
[7:51] Speaker 1: a meeting to get us to cave. And that the
[7:53] Speaker 1: proposal failed to sufficiently protect riders from the existential threats
[7:57] Speaker 1: that caused the strike in the first place. The writers
[8:00] Speaker 1: argue that the offered concessions fall short in several key areas,
[8:04] Speaker 1: including fewer guarded writing jobs than sought and a lack
[8:08] Speaker 1: of meaningful safeguards on hot topics like artificial intelligence. Yet
[8:12] Speaker 1: for every week the writers and actors continue to strike
[8:15] Speaker 1: is another week other people in the industry are out
[8:17] Speaker 1: of work. The often overlooked and overworked camera operators, caterers,
[8:22] Speaker 1: set designers, editors, custodians, and countless others who work behind
[8:25] Speaker 1: the scenes for less pay are currently going without means
[8:28] Speaker 1: to pay their bills. Thousands of livelihoods are at stake
[8:31] Speaker 1: with these negotiations, and with every passing day, they are
[8:35] Speaker 1: also getting more desperate, but their fate is in the
[8:38] Speaker 1: hands of these negotiations between the big executives and these writers.
[8:42] Speaker 1: The continued stalemate means more people are going to be hurt.
[8:47] Speaker 1: The writer's strike has brought to the forefront complex issues
[8:50] Speaker 1: around employment rights, technological advancements, and the inherent value of
[8:54] Speaker 1: human creativity. It serves as a reminder that new challenges
[8:57] Speaker 1: and conflicts are bound to arise in an ever-evolving world.
[9:00] Speaker 1: We see this with the evolving nature of artificial intelligence.
[9:04] Speaker 1: Respect for the gifts and talents that writers bring to
[9:06] Speaker 1: the entertainment industry should be balanced with practical realities of
[9:09] Speaker 1: business and empathy for the people that are also in
[9:12] Speaker 1: the industry. Philippians 2.4 encourages us to not merely look
[9:16] Speaker 1: out for our own personal interests, but also the interests
[9:19] Speaker 1: of others. This is a verse that studio executives, writers,
[9:22] Speaker 1: and actors can all take to heart during these complex negotiations.
[9:26] Speaker 1: As both parties continue their negotiations, may they be guided
[9:29] Speaker 1: by a spirit of cooperation, recognizing the shared humanity and
[9:33] Speaker 1: divine spark in everyone. The resolution to this strike will
[9:36] Speaker 1: not only affect the parties involved, but will also set
[9:39] Speaker 1: precedents for navigating the intersection of technology, creativity, entertainment, and
[9:43] Speaker 1: commerce in the modern era. The choices made now will
[9:46] Speaker 1: echo into the future, making the pursuit of justice, respect,
[9:49] Speaker 1: and understanding all the more vital. So with all these
[9:52] Speaker 1: being said, let's pray. Heavenly Father, we pray that you
[9:55] Speaker 1: would guide the hearts and minds of those involved in
[9:57] Speaker 1: these negotiations, that they may find common ground and understanding.
[10:01] Speaker 1: Inspire them to look beyond their own interests and consider
[10:03] Speaker 1: the well-being of all who depend on their decisions. Grant
[10:06] Speaker 1: them wisdom and empathy and lead them to a fair
[10:09] Speaker 1: and just resolution that honors creativity and respects the dignity
[10:12] Speaker 1: of all workers, not just writers, not just actors, not
[10:15] Speaker 1: just executives, but everyone involved. To everyone who's experiencing this
[10:20] Speaker 1: heartache and this turmoil professionally and financially because of these strikes,
[10:24] Speaker 1: we pray that you would comfort them. Be with them.
[10:26] Speaker 1: Provide for them, Lord. When other people aren't thinking of them,
[10:29] Speaker 1: would you meet them where they are? In Jesus' name, amen.
[10:33] Speaker 1: Our last story of today is another update in this
[10:35] Speaker 1: ongoing saga that is Trump's indictments and trials. Before we
[10:40] Speaker 1: dive into the story, we want to make it known
[10:42] Speaker 1: that in no ways is reporting on this story mean
[10:45] Speaker 1: that we take sides on whether Trump is innocent, Whether
[10:48] Speaker 1: he is guilty, that is up for the courts to decide.
[10:50] Speaker 1: We want to report, and we want to reflect. And so,
[10:53] Speaker 1: we pray that this take blesses you. Former President Donald
[10:57] Speaker 1: Trump has announced plans to surrender himself to authorities in
[11:00] Speaker 1: Atlanta today. This decision comes in connection with the Georgia
[11:03] Speaker 1: indictment concerning efforts to reverse his 2020 election loss in
[11:06] Speaker 1: the state. The event has sparked intense debate and emotions,
[11:10] Speaker 1: calling attention to the critical importance of accountability for the
[11:13] Speaker 1: nation's leaders. The indictment reveals last week include a total
[11:17] Speaker 1: of 41 criminal counts against Trump and 18 other defendants.
[11:21] Speaker 1: The charges encompass alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election
[11:24] Speaker 1: results in Georgia, with Trump being charged with 13 counts
[11:27] Speaker 1: related to the probe. The bail for the former president
[11:30] Speaker 1: has been set at $ 200, 000 with strict conditions on witness intimidation.
[11:34] Speaker 1: The order specifically states that the defendant, Trump, shall not
[11:37] Speaker 1: intimidate any known co-defendant or witness or obstruct justice, even
[11:41] Speaker 1: through social media posts. The indictment also extends to other
[11:44] Speaker 1: key figures, such as Trump's former personal lawyer, John Eastman,
[11:47] Speaker 1: who plans to surrender on Wednesday. Trump has described this
[11:50] Speaker 1: indictment as politically motivated, aiming to derail his re-election campaign
[11:54] Speaker 1: in 2024. He has repeatedly asserted that indictments against him are, quote,
[11:59] Speaker 1: witch hunts, and has attacked Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis,
[12:03] Speaker 1: labeling her as a radical left and corrupt. The date
[12:06] Speaker 1: for Trump's surrender has set through negotiations between his lawyers
[12:10] Speaker 1: and the Fulton County District Attorney's office. Security around the
[12:13] Speaker 1: jail will be tightened when Trump surrenders, according to the
[12:16] Speaker 1: local sheriff's office. We're being told that he will not
[12:18] Speaker 1: be taking a mugshot, which would be a nightmare for publicity.
[12:22] Speaker 1: The incident does not exist in isolation. Trump's legal troubles
[12:26] Speaker 1: have been mounting, marking his fourth indictment in only five months.
[12:29] Speaker 1: He faces trials in New York and Florida in the
[12:31] Speaker 1: coming months on charges ranging from hush money payments to
[12:34] Speaker 1: mishandling federal classified documents. Trump's surrender takes place a day
[12:38] Speaker 1: after the first Republican primary presidential debate, which he did
[12:41] Speaker 1: not attend. The legal proceedings could potentially overshadow his political
[12:45] Speaker 1: ambitions and complicate his campaign trail as he seeks to
[12:48] Speaker 1: return to the White House. As we reflect on this
[12:51] Speaker 1: unprecedented event, we must remember the biblical principles that guide us. Accountability, truth,
[12:56] Speaker 1: and justice are fundamental virtues that should be upheld by
[12:59] Speaker 1: every leader, regardless of their political affiliation or their status.
[13:03] Speaker 1: The Bible teaches us in Romans 13.1 to be subject
[13:06] Speaker 1: to governing authorities, for theirs is the authority that God
[13:09] Speaker 1: has established. But there's also this higher authority that we
[13:12] Speaker 1: are here to, and that's the authority of God, his word, truth, righteousness, justice.
[13:17] Speaker 1: As such, leaders must be held accountable for their actions. Furthermore,
[13:21] Speaker 1: Proverbs 28.13 reminds us, whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
[13:25] Speaker 1: but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
[13:28] Speaker 1: This call for honesty, integrity, and repentance extends to all individuals,
[13:32] Speaker 1: even those in the highest echelons of power. Instead of
[13:35] Speaker 1: commenting on whether Trump is innocent or guilty, we are
[13:37] Speaker 1: going to turn our reflection inward. In these turbulent times,
[13:41] Speaker 1: our prayers must be for wisdom, discernment, and compassion for
[13:43] Speaker 1: all those involved in this complex situation, but also for
[13:46] Speaker 1: our own hearts. May we anchor ourselves in truth in
[13:49] Speaker 1: our relationships, jobs, and communities, never shying away from the truth.
[13:53] Speaker 1: And when we do mess up, may we have repentant hearts,
[13:56] Speaker 1: living transparently before people, not trying to conceal things and
[13:59] Speaker 1: run away from our problems, rather face them head on.
[14:02] Speaker 1: We also are going to be praying that justice would
[14:05] Speaker 1: be served with fairness and may our leaders strive to
[14:07] Speaker 1: lead with integrity, reflecting the love and righteousness of Christ.
[14:11] Speaker 1: As the nation watches and waits for the unfolding of
[14:13] Speaker 1: this legal battle, let us hold fast to our faith,
[14:16] Speaker 1: trusting in God's sovereignty and seeking his guidance in every
[14:18] Speaker 1: aspect of our lives. The pursuit of justice and truth
[14:21] Speaker 1: is not just a legal or political matter, it's a
[14:23] Speaker 1: spiritual one, rooted in the principles that define our faith
[14:26] Speaker 1: and call us to be Christ-like in all of our endeavors.
[14:29] Speaker 1: Whoever is president, whatever the results of this may be,
[14:33] Speaker 1: We know that we serve a king beyond any earthly leader.
[14:36] Speaker 1: We serve Jesus, and that doesn't change. No matter who's
[14:39] Speaker 1: in power, no matter what trial, no matter what is
[14:42] Speaker 1: happening in our lives, we serve King Jesus, and it
[14:45] Speaker 1: is his kingdom we serve above any ideology or political party. So,
[14:50] Speaker 1: with all this being said, let's pray. Lord of justice
[14:53] Speaker 1: and mercy, we pray for wisdom, discernment, and compassion in
[14:56] Speaker 1: the legal proceedings surrounding former President Trump and everyone else involved.
[15:00] Speaker 1: May the pursuit of truth be fair and just, reflecting
[15:03] Speaker 1: the principles that guide our faith. Help us as a
[15:05] Speaker 1: nation and individuals to uphold integrity and accountability, trusting in
[15:10] Speaker 1: your sovereignty and seeking your guidance in all aspects of
[15:13] Speaker 1: our lives. We pray these things with trust in you,
[15:15] Speaker 1: in you alone, declaring your righteousness above ours. In Jesus' name, amen.
