[0:00] Speaker 1: For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but
[0:03] Speaker 1: against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers
[0:06] Speaker 1: of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual
[0:09] Speaker 1: forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6, 12
[0:14] Speaker 1: Dear Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that we are in a
[0:17] Speaker 1: constant spiritual battle. Our enemies are not our fellow people,
[0:21] Speaker 1: but the forces of darkness and ideologies that seek to
[0:24] Speaker 1: pull us away from your light, love, and truth. We
[0:27] Speaker 1: pray for your protection as we navigate this battleground. Clothe
[0:31] Speaker 1: us in your full armor and help us to recognize
[0:33] Speaker 1: the true nature of your struggle and to stand firm
[0:37] Speaker 1: in faith against all forms of evil. Through your Holy Spirit,
[0:41] Speaker 1: give us discernment to see beyond the surface, wisdom to
[0:44] Speaker 1: choose rightly, and courage to fight the good fight of faith.
[0:48] Speaker 1: In the name of Jesus, who has overcome the world,
[0:51] Speaker 1: we pray. Amen. Welcome to Prey News, where hope is
[0:55] Speaker 1: our only bias. Today's news at a glance, a new
[0:57] Speaker 1: pro-life bill puts its money where its mouth is. The
[1:00] Speaker 1: Biden administration tries to school tech giants, but can lawmakers
[1:04] Speaker 1: keep up with these companies? And under intense persecution, the
[1:07] Speaker 1: church in Taiwan is thriving. Thanks for joining us today
[1:11] Speaker 1: for Prey News. In a dark and chaotic world, we
[1:14] Speaker 1: are hoping to shed a bit of light. We pray

[1:31] Speaker 1: Before we take a dive into today's news, let's hear
[1:33] Speaker 1: a word from these sponsors. Today's first story is a
[1:37] Speaker 1: step forward for the pro-life movement without forsaking women. Republicans
[1:42] Speaker 1: are advancing for an extensive child tax credit expansion encompassing
[1:46] Speaker 1: unborn children. Representative Ashley Hinson, a Republican from Iowa, spearheads
[1:51] Speaker 1: the collection of bills in the House named Providing for
[1:54] Speaker 1: Life Act. This legislation represents a concerted effort to revamp
[1:58] Speaker 1: the federal government's family care system. Hinson outlined that her
[2:02] Speaker 1: legislation strives to establish a policy course for the culture
[2:06] Speaker 1: of life in America. The core element of the proposal
[2:09] Speaker 1: involves extending the refundable child tax credit to include a
[2:13] Speaker 1: $ 3, 500 cap for children under five, a $ 4, 500 gap for
[2:18] Speaker 1: ages 16 to 17. It also proposes a retroactive tax
[2:23] Speaker 1: credit extension to unborn children, allowing parents to claim the
[2:27] Speaker 1: credit in the previous year of pregnancy. This move comes
[2:31] Speaker 1: as a response to the Democrat-led efforts to make a
[2:33] Speaker 1: work requirement-free expansion child tax credit permanent, a measure popular
[2:38] Speaker 1: during the COVID-19 pandemic, but failed. The bill package incorporates
[2:44] Speaker 1: funds other significant measures, including an option for parents to
[2:47] Speaker 1: use their Social Security to fund up to three months
[2:50] Speaker 1: of paid parental leave. It also includes enhanced benefits for
[2:53] Speaker 1: new mothers and incentives for states to establish guidelines on
[2:57] Speaker 1: fathers contributing to pregnancy costs. This legislation comes amid ongoing
[3:03] Speaker 1: political tension over abortion access following the Supreme Court's overturning
[3:07] Speaker 1: of Roe v. Wade. Hinson's bill aims to provide additional
[3:11] Speaker 1: support for expecting parents with programs on college campuses and
[3:15] Speaker 1: at pregnancy resource centers. Senator Marco Rubio recently introduced a
[3:20] Speaker 1: Senate counterpart to the package. Rubio stated that it offers, quote,
[3:24] Speaker 1: real assistance for children and families, arguing that supporting pregnant
[3:29] Speaker 1: mothers and their unborn children is crucial for America's future strength.
[3:32] Speaker 1: The proposal to extend child tax credits to unborn babies
[3:36] Speaker 1: underscores a deep-rooted belief in the sanctity of life. Scripture
[3:40] Speaker 1: reminds us that children are a heritage from the Lord
[3:43] Speaker 1: in Psalm 127. We are also told that God thought
[3:46] Speaker 1: of us before we were even born, weaving us intricately
[3:50] Speaker 1: in our mother's womb, according to Psalm 139. This legislative
[3:54] Speaker 1: proposal aims to support children from conception, and we see
[3:58] Speaker 1: this as a move forward towards a society that values life.
[4:03] Speaker 1: This is a really good example of putting your money
[4:05] Speaker 1: where your mouth is. If pro-life movements are ever going
[4:08] Speaker 1: to succeed, they must include more support for women who
[4:11] Speaker 1: feel like they can't afford to bring a child into
[4:13] Speaker 1: the world. To be truly pro-life, we must be also pro-mother.
[4:18] Speaker 1: And this bill, if passed, would be a huge step
[4:20] Speaker 1: in that direction. Not every woman has a good support
[4:23] Speaker 1: system around her, and she may feel like the abortion
[4:26] Speaker 1: is her only option. So we as the Christian community
[4:30] Speaker 1: and pro-life lawmakers can band together to make these future
[4:33] Speaker 1: mothers feel supported and cared for. Another crucial element is
[4:37] Speaker 1: keeping the fathers accountable for supporting these mothers. That is
[4:42] Speaker 1: also a biblical principle of a father stewarding his household
[4:46] Speaker 1: well and taking his responsibility as a parent seriously. So,
[4:51] Speaker 1: we encourage everyone to pray for wisdom for our lawmakers
[4:55] Speaker 1: so they might craft legislation that respects life and supports mothers.
[4:59] Speaker 1: particularly those who are in most need. We also invite
[5:03] Speaker 1: prayers for those who find themselves in difficult pregnancy situations,
[5:07] Speaker 1: that they might receive the support and care that they need.
[5:10] Speaker 1: In the spirit of Christ's teaching, let us continue to
[5:12] Speaker 1: champion love, understanding, and support for families, recognizing the inherent
[5:17] Speaker 1: dignity of every life, from the unborn to the mothers
[5:21] Speaker 1: to these households that are struggling. So let's lift all
[5:25] Speaker 1: of this in prayer. Dear Lord, we pray for our legislators.
[5:28] Speaker 1: Grant them wisdom to craft laws that uphold the sanctity
[5:31] Speaker 1: of life and provide necessary support to families in need.
[5:34] Speaker 1: Help those mothers who face challenging pregnancy circumstances and empower us,
[5:39] Speaker 1: the church, to seek solutions and provide aid to any
[5:43] Speaker 1: woman who feels lost and without options. Would you be
[5:46] Speaker 1: the comforter? Would you be the provider and the sustainer?
[5:50] Speaker 1: We love you and we trust you for all these things.
[5:52] Speaker 1: In Jesus name, amen. Our second story of today has
[5:56] Speaker 1: to do with all these developments happening in AI and
[5:59] Speaker 1: how the government is responding. What's happened here is seven
[6:02] Speaker 1: AI industry bigwigs, including Microsoft, Google, Meta, and OpenAI, have
[6:06] Speaker 1: raised their virtual hands and solemnly sworn to adhere to
[6:09] Speaker 1: a certain set of safeguards for their technology. This is
[6:12] Speaker 1: at the White House's request. So it's a bit like
[6:15] Speaker 1: a school assignment. Biden is at the front of the
[6:17] Speaker 1: class setting some ground rules for these technology prodigies. The
[6:20] Speaker 1: Biden administration is making a concerted effort to ensure that
[6:24] Speaker 1: these tech firms apply their AI know-how to benefit society
[6:27] Speaker 1: without disturbing public safety, rights, or democratic values. It's a
[6:31] Speaker 1: bit like telling someone, hey, sure, you can juggle those chainsaws,
[6:34] Speaker 1: just don't cut anything important. You see, AI has so
[6:38] Speaker 1: much potential for good, but also so much potential for bad.
[6:41] Speaker 1: And so the White House is naturally responding. The tech
[6:44] Speaker 1: firms have agreed to eight measures focused on safety, security,
[6:48] Speaker 1: and social responsibility. These include letting independent experts test models for, quote,
[6:53] Speaker 1: bad behavior, which probably doesn't include making rude comments on
[6:56] Speaker 1: social media, but we can always hope. This also includes
[6:59] Speaker 1: investing in cybersecurity and watermarking AI-generated content. That last one
[7:04] Speaker 1: is especially handy for Drake fans out there. Here's a
[7:07] Speaker 1: quote directly from the White House. These commitments, which the
[7:10] Speaker 1: companies have chosen to undertake immediately, underscore three principles that
[7:14] Speaker 1: must be fundamental to the future of AI. Safety, security,
[7:18] Speaker 1: and trust. And mark a critical step towards developing responsible AI.
[7:23] Speaker 1: So this is the White House's statement. But I believe
[7:25] Speaker 1: they have missed an opportunity to quote Spider-Man. With great
[7:28] Speaker 1: power comes great responsibility, because that, in essence, is what's
[7:31] Speaker 1: happening here. The voluntary nature of this agreement underscores the
[7:35] Speaker 1: challenge lawmakers face in keeping up with the fast-paced world
[7:39] Speaker 1: of AI. It's like trying to catch a rabbit on
[7:42] Speaker 1: a turbocharged bicycle. It's tricky, but not impossible, I suppose.
[7:46] Speaker 1: Several bills have already been introduced to Congress to regulate AI,
[7:50] Speaker 1: which is a comforting thought until you remember that legislation
[7:53] Speaker 1: and tech innovations have a habit of moving at very
[7:56] Speaker 1: different speeds. If lawmakers want to regulate AI credibly, they
[8:01] Speaker 1: need to keep up. So far, they haven't shown the
[8:03] Speaker 1: capacity to do so. In Proverbs 4, 6-7, we read,
[8:09] Speaker 1: Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you. Love her,
[8:12] Speaker 1: and she will watch over you. You see, this ancient
[8:15] Speaker 1: wisdom still rings true today as we navigate the rapidly
[8:18] Speaker 1: changing landscape of AI technology. These AI titans have been
[8:22] Speaker 1: gifted with the ability to create incredible technology that, if
[8:25] Speaker 1: used wisely, can truly serve the common good. As believers,
[8:29] Speaker 1: we must pray for discernment for these companies as they
[8:32] Speaker 1: develop AI that could potentially reshape our world. Now, will
[8:36] Speaker 1: it be for the better or will it be for
[8:37] Speaker 1: the worse? Wisdom and understanding matched with a commitment to safety, security,
[8:41] Speaker 1: and trust are key ingredients to ensure that AI technology
[8:45] Speaker 1: benefits all of humanity. Now, many have looked at AI
[8:50] Speaker 1: and have seen a bleak future. They've expressed skepticism and
[8:53] Speaker 1: fear about the surging power of artificial intelligence. At Pray.com,
[8:58] Speaker 1: we believe technological innovation can be leveraged for the kingdom
[9:01] Speaker 1: of God. To quote Pray.com's chief technology officer and co-founder
[9:05] Speaker 1: Ryan Beck, good people with good tools do great things.
[9:09] Speaker 1: This has been true all throughout history, and it's true
[9:12] Speaker 1: today with the emerging capabilities of AI. So, Let's keep
[9:15] Speaker 1: the tech wizards and policymakers in our prayers so that
[9:18] Speaker 1: they may continue to juggle their technological chainsaws with wisdom
[9:22] Speaker 1: and caution. And let's also pray that those chainsaws turn
[9:25] Speaker 1: out to be more beneficial than dangerous. Lord, we pray
[9:31] Speaker 1: for the leaders of these powerful companies and lawmakers that
[9:34] Speaker 1: they may be granted wisdom and discernment, not be driven
[9:37] Speaker 1: by greed or skepticism, rather, but by wisdom and knowledge.
[9:41] Speaker 1: As they navigate these complex challenges of artificial intelligence, Grant
[9:44] Speaker 1: them wisdom. We ask for a commitment to safety, security,
[9:48] Speaker 1: and trust, and we pray for that to be genuine
[9:50] Speaker 1: and long-lasting. We pray that these innovations would be good
[9:53] Speaker 1: for the world and not just for companies. We also
[9:55] Speaker 1: pray for society as a whole, that we wouldn't be
[9:58] Speaker 1: ignorant of these things. that we would be adapting new
[10:01] Speaker 1: technologies for your glory and for your kingdom. Give us
[10:05] Speaker 1: grace when we stumble. Give us patience when we're getting
[10:09] Speaker 1: out of control. And we pray that you would reign
[10:12] Speaker 1: us in with your Holy Spirit. We love you, Lord,
[10:15] Speaker 1: and it's in Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Our last
[10:19] Speaker 1: story of today is a story of triumph in the
[10:21] Speaker 1: midst of trial. Amid escalating geopolitical tensions, Taiwan is witnessing
[10:26] Speaker 1: a faith-filled response from Christian population. Over 16,000 revival prayer
[10:32] Speaker 1: groups have blossomed across the island nation as a means
[10:35] Speaker 1: of facing down Beijing's increasing threats. Tensions are peaking and
[10:39] Speaker 1: Beijing's belligerence is once again making Taiwan very jittery. China's
[10:44] Speaker 1: military released a video illustrating simulated attacks on Taiwan, ramping
[10:48] Speaker 1: up the pressure on the island that faces almost daily
[10:51] Speaker 1: military harassment from the mainland. Meanwhile, Taiwan is escalating its
[10:55] Speaker 1: military preparedness with U.S. weapons. So to be clear, they're
[11:00] Speaker 1: not seeking conflict or confrontation, but they're not going to
[11:03] Speaker 1: flinch in the face of bullying or coercion. Here's the thing.
[11:07] Speaker 1: Taiwan's Christian community is intensifying its efforts not for war,
[11:11] Speaker 1: but for prayer, revival, unity, repentance, and protection over its homeland.
[11:17] Speaker 1: Pastor Brian Liu of House of Bread and Life Ministries
[11:20] Speaker 1: talked to CBN News and said, quote, The united prayers
[11:24] Speaker 1: and fasting prayers of the churches in Taiwan are much
[11:27] Speaker 1: more than ever before. It's an unprecedented prayer movement, unquote.
[11:31] Speaker 1: People across the island are gathering day and night to pray.
[11:35] Speaker 1: Gordon Huang, a prominent church leader, echoes this sentiment. He said, quote,
[11:39] Speaker 1: I believe something so simple is starting to have such
[11:42] Speaker 1: a huge impact upon people in the church and also
[11:45] Speaker 1: people around the church. In May 2021, Don Young, a
[11:50] Speaker 1: former missionary, felt called by the Lord to convey a
[11:52] Speaker 1: warning of coming shakeups, a bit of a prophecy, if
[11:56] Speaker 1: you will. His message sparked a revival prayer group movement.
[12:00] Speaker 1: which consists of small groups of people praying around the
[12:03] Speaker 1: clock for Taiwan. Pastor Liu said, quote, Because RPG has
[12:07] Speaker 1: two or three people in every group, so one day
[12:10] Speaker 1: a war happened and there was no physical buildings that
[12:13] Speaker 1: people can meet in, they can still pray in small
[12:15] Speaker 1: groups so the church will not be affected. This movement
[12:19] Speaker 1: is not confined to Taiwan, with members of China's underground
[12:23] Speaker 1: church also participating. The goal is to have 300,000 prayer
[12:26] Speaker 1: groups praying according to Peter Yang, who leads the Taiwan
[12:31] Speaker 1: Christian Alliance. He said, quote, What's happening today is so rare.
[12:36] Speaker 1: It's amazing. It's clearly God's doing. Unity will be the
[12:40] Speaker 1: legacy of this movement, Young quote. Young added that they
[12:44] Speaker 1: want to have 300,000 groups and also unite the churches
[12:48] Speaker 1: in China, coming together, all leaders and members on both sides,
[12:51] Speaker 1: so that they can pray for peace. As Christians, we're
[12:55] Speaker 1: reminded of Ephesians 6.12. that we don't wrestle against flesh
[12:59] Speaker 1: and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of
[13:02] Speaker 1: the darkness of this age. This prayer movement in Taiwan
[13:05] Speaker 1: is waging the right type of warfare. And it's a
[13:08] Speaker 1: testament to this biblical truth. As believers who are gathering
[13:12] Speaker 1: to seek divine intervention amid geopolitical conflicts, prayer is a
[13:16] Speaker 1: powerful instrument for change and a testament of faith in
[13:20] Speaker 1: the omnipotence of God. When people pray, the Lord moves.
[13:24] Speaker 1: There's no doubt about that. As Taiwan's Christians turn to
[13:27] Speaker 1: prayer in the face of impending crisis, they echo the
[13:30] Speaker 1: actions of the early church, choosing faith over fear and
[13:33] Speaker 1: unity over division. Prayer is what released Peter out of
[13:36] Speaker 1: prison and broke shackles of Paul and Silas in the
[13:38] Speaker 1: Book of Acts. Prayer is also what preceded the coming
[13:41] Speaker 1: of God's Spirit at Pentecost. So we believe prayer is
[13:45] Speaker 1: what will bring about revival in Taiwan and this entire generation.
[13:50] Speaker 1: It is encouraging to see the power of prayer and
[13:52] Speaker 1: unity transcending geopolitical borders, bridging the gap between Taiwanese and
[13:57] Speaker 1: Chinese believers. We invite our listeners to join in prayer
[14:01] Speaker 1: for Taiwan and the peace and wisdom to prevail in
[14:04] Speaker 1: this tense situation. May we remember that in Christ, we
[14:07] Speaker 1: find true peace and the ability to stand together, even
[14:10] Speaker 1: in the face of daunting adversity. Before signing off for today,
[14:14] Speaker 1: let's lift everything in prayer. Heavenly Father, we lift up
[14:17] Speaker 1: Taiwan and its people, as well as the entire region
[14:20] Speaker 1: We ask for your divine intervention to bring peace and
[14:23] Speaker 1: resolution amid escalating tensions. Strength the faith of your church
[14:28] Speaker 1: and multiply their efforts to seek your wisdom and protection.
[14:31] Speaker 1: May this spirit of unity and fervent prayer spill over
[14:34] Speaker 1: the borders and touch all hearts involved, fostering a greater
[14:37] Speaker 1: sense of understanding and empathy. We pray for peace and
[14:41] Speaker 1: we hope for peace. In your mighty name we pray. Amen.
[14:47] Speaker 1: Thank you for joining us today on Pray News. It
[14:49] Speaker 1: is our aim to be informed and transformed. We pray
[14:52] Speaker 1: today you would proceed with hope, love, and determination to
[14:55] Speaker 1: be a force for good. If this episode blessed you,
[14:57] Speaker 1: consider sharing it with a friend so that we can
[14:59] Speaker 1: spread the hope of the gospel worldwide. And join us
[15:03] Speaker 1: daily for Pray News, where hope is our only bias.
