[0:00] Speaker 1: But if we walk in the light as he is
[0:01] Speaker 1: in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and
[0:04] Speaker 1: the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from
[0:07] Speaker 1: all sin. 1 John 1, 7 Dear Lord, we thank
[0:12] Speaker 1: you for the invitation to walk in your light, a
[0:14] Speaker 1: path illuminated by your truth, love, and grace. Help us
[0:18] Speaker 1: to walk in the light, following your guidance and seeking
[0:21] Speaker 1: your wisdom. May our lives reflect your love, compassion, and righteousness,
[0:25] Speaker 1: drawing others to the light of Christ. May we live
[0:28] Speaker 1: in truth and have a good relationship with the truth,
[0:31] Speaker 1: living transparently with you and one another. We pray for
[0:34] Speaker 1: fellowship and unity among believers as we walk in the truth.
[0:38] Speaker 1: May our relationships be marked with authenticity, encouragement, and be
[0:42] Speaker 1: blessed by you. We love you, Lord, and it's in Jesus'
[0:46] Speaker 1: name we pray. Amen. Welcome to Pray News, where hope
[0:51] Speaker 1: is our only bias. Today's news at a glance, Hunter
[0:54] Speaker 1: Biden's mistakes may be threatening his father's credibility. AI is
[0:58] Speaker 1: helping with innovations in breast cancer detection. And an illegal
[1:01] Speaker 1: Chinese lab was raided in California. And this story sounds
[1:05] Speaker 1: way more like a movie than news. In the midst
[1:08] Speaker 1: of darkness, we want to keep our eyes fixed on
[1:10] Speaker 1: the light. We won't pretend everything in this world is perfect. Instead,
[1:14] Speaker 1: we want to acknowledge brokenness and trust that God will
[1:17] Speaker 1: help us through it. We pray this take on the
[1:20] Speaker 1: news helps you look at the world through a realistic
[1:23] Speaker 1: but hopeful lens. If you've been blessed by this take

[1:34] Speaker 1: we hop into these stories, let's hear a word from
[1:36] Speaker 1: the sponsor. Our first story of today is another episode
[1:41] Speaker 1: in the great saga of Hunter Biden. Devin Archer, a
[1:44] Speaker 1: former business associate of Hunter Biden, gave a testimony before
[1:48] Speaker 1: the House Oversight Committee. The heart of the matter lies
[1:51] Speaker 1: in Archer's claims regarding Hunter Biden's alleged practice of putting
[1:54] Speaker 1: his father, President Joe Biden, on speakerphone during conversations with
[1:59] Speaker 1: business associates. This testimony has prompted renewed scrutiny of President
[2:04] Speaker 1: Biden's statements that he had never discussed business matters with
[2:07] Speaker 1: his son or family. According to Archer, Hunter Biden put
[2:10] Speaker 1: his father on speakerphone up to 20 times over a decade,
[2:14] Speaker 1: but he emphasized that the conversations were casual and did
[2:17] Speaker 1: not involve any business discussions. The testimony also revealed that
[2:21] Speaker 1: both Archer and Hunter Biden sat on the board of
[2:24] Speaker 1: the Ukrainian energy company Burisma in 2014 during Joe Biden's
[2:29] Speaker 1: vice presidency. The Republican-led House Oversight Committee is now investigating
[2:34] Speaker 1: whether President Biden might have been improperly involved in his
[2:37] Speaker 1: son's dealings, raising questions about potential ethical violations. Some Republicans
[2:42] Speaker 1: are using this testimony to consider possible impeachment proceedings against
[2:46] Speaker 1: President Biden. arguing that it contradicts his earlier assertions. The
[2:51] Speaker 1: White House and Democrats, however, have dismissed the claims, pointing
[2:54] Speaker 1: out that Archer's testimony never implicated President Biden of any
[2:58] Speaker 1: business dealings. This testimony comes at a time when Devin
[3:02] Speaker 1: Archer is negotiating with the U.S. Department of Justice regarding
[3:06] Speaker 1: his prison sentence for a 2018 conviction related to defrauding
[3:10] Speaker 1: a Native American tribe. The situation has also coincided with
[3:15] Speaker 1: unverified allegations against Joe and Hunter Biden-related business dealings with Ukraine.
[3:21] Speaker 1: The competing interpretations of Archer's testimony have created a highly
[3:24] Speaker 1: polarized environment, with Republicans and Democrats at odds over the
[3:28] Speaker 1: implications of his statements. The incident reflects broader tensions and
[3:33] Speaker 1: mistrust between the two parties, touching on critical issues of ethics, transparency,
[3:38] Speaker 1: and the integrity of the country's leadership. It has become
[3:41] Speaker 1: a flashpoint in the ongoing struggle between different political factions,
[3:45] Speaker 1: each interpreting the facts through its own lens and pursuing
[3:48] Speaker 1: divergent paths in response to the others. Here's the Republican reaction.
[3:53] Speaker 1: Republicans have seized on the testimony as evidence of potential
[3:58] Speaker 1: lies from President Biden. Conservative party members are calling for
[4:01] Speaker 1: serious consideration of impeachment proceedings, arguing that the situation confirms
[4:06] Speaker 1: Joe Biden's knowledge of his son's business dealings. Contrary to
[4:10] Speaker 1: his earlier statements, the Republican-less House of Representatives Oversight Committee
[4:15] Speaker 1: continues to investigate whether there was any improper involvement by
[4:18] Speaker 1: President Biden in his son's business activities. Representative James Comer
[4:23] Speaker 1: has publicly stated that the testimony confirms Joe Biden lied
[4:26] Speaker 1: to the American people. So that's the Republican side. The
[4:30] Speaker 1: Democrat side and their reaction... is a more calm approach
[4:34] Speaker 1: to the testimony, emphasizing that Archer repeatedly affirmed President Biden
[4:39] Speaker 1: never discussed any business dealings. Dan Goldman, a Democrat from
[4:43] Speaker 1: New York, referred to the calls as merely, quote, the
[4:46] Speaker 1: illusion of access, unquote, and characterized the content as casual
[4:51] Speaker 1: conversations about weather or general niceties. The White House dismissed
[4:55] Speaker 1: the Republican inquiry, accusing them of pursuing a, quote, evidence-free
[5:00] Speaker 1: wild goose chase, unquote. and highlighting that Archer's testimony did
[5:05] Speaker 1: not prove President Biden discussed business with his son. It
[5:09] Speaker 1: comes as no surprise to us that there is a
[5:11] Speaker 1: stark divide between how Republicans and Democrats perceive the situation here.
[5:15] Speaker 1: The Republicans focus on the potential impropriety. They're pushing further investigations,
[5:20] Speaker 1: while Democrats are dismissive of the allegations, insisting that the
[5:23] Speaker 1: president was never involved in any wrongdoing. This speaks to
[5:27] Speaker 1: a growing phenomena in our political landscape at the moment.
[5:31] Speaker 1: If we look at the investigation into former President Trump,
[5:34] Speaker 1: the positions of the Republicans and Democrats are inversed, with
[5:36] Speaker 1: the Republicans calling it a witch hunt and the Democrats
[5:39] Speaker 1: calling for more accountability. Did you ever play King of
[5:42] Speaker 1: the Hill when you were a kid? Maybe you played
[5:45] Speaker 1: a version of it. The game begins when you find
[5:47] Speaker 1: a high place, whether it was a dirt mound, a
[5:49] Speaker 1: pool floaty, or a trampoline. The game's goal as kids
[5:52] Speaker 1: is to be on top of the hill. and make
[5:54] Speaker 1: sure nobody else takes your place. You want to be
[5:56] Speaker 1: at the top at all times. And so you wrestle
[5:58] Speaker 1: and you kick and you scream to get people to
[6:00] Speaker 1: be at the bottom of the hill. That seems to
[6:03] Speaker 1: be the game that Republicans and Democrats are playing with
[6:06] Speaker 1: moral superiority. They are constantly fighting for moral high ground.
[6:11] Speaker 1: Paul addresses this phenomenon, Romans 3, when he says, none
[6:14] Speaker 1: are righteous, no, not one. One of the core tenets
[6:17] Speaker 1: of our faith is that we're all imperfect sinners in
[6:20] Speaker 1: need of a savior. There's no moral high ground that
[6:22] Speaker 1: any of us can take over the other. Therefore, when
[6:25] Speaker 1: we're looking at stories like these, we don't take a
[6:27] Speaker 1: self-righteous stance or claim moral superiority. We simply pray for
[6:31] Speaker 1: the truth to be revealed, for justice to be served,
[6:34] Speaker 1: and for hope to reign in our lives. The pursuit
[6:37] Speaker 1: of justice should be done with compassion, and a heart
[6:40] Speaker 1: of reconciliation rather than divisiveness. We'll continue to keep a
[6:43] Speaker 1: close eye on this story as it speaks to having
[6:47] Speaker 1: greater transparency between us and the government, making sure that
[6:51] Speaker 1: nobody is covering up any impropriety, and we're going to
[6:54] Speaker 1: be continuing to pray. Pray for peacemakers in Washington and
[6:58] Speaker 1: for everyone involved. Let's pray now. Lord, we lift up
[7:02] Speaker 1: our leaders, our government, and our nation in prayer. During
[7:05] Speaker 1: these times of division and tension, we pray that your
[7:07] Speaker 1: hope would reign supreme. Guide those in authority to seek
[7:11] Speaker 1: your truth with integrity, compassion, and a spirit of reconciliation.
[7:14] Speaker 1: May your wisdom and justice prevail in this situation. And
[7:17] Speaker 1: may we, as your people, be instruments of peace and understanding,
[7:20] Speaker 1: resisting the temptation to claim moral superiority over one another.
[7:24] Speaker 1: We're all sinners in need of a savior. And we're
[7:27] Speaker 1: not giddy at any sort of corruption. Rather, it breaks
[7:30] Speaker 1: our hearts. Would your salvation, would your righteousness and your
[7:34] Speaker 1: truth reign in people's hearts? Help us to remember that
[7:37] Speaker 1: we're all imperfect and we need your grace. So lead
[7:40] Speaker 1: us to engage this story with respect, empathy, and love
[7:43] Speaker 1: for our neighbors, regardless of political differences. Bridge divides, heal hearts,
[7:49] Speaker 1: and help our nation. In Jesus' name, amen. There are
[7:52] Speaker 1: plenty of doom and gloom stories regarding technology and AI,
[7:56] Speaker 1: but we found a pretty good silver lining. Breast cancer
[8:00] Speaker 1: remains one of the most prevalent and deadly diseases among
[8:03] Speaker 1: women worldwide. Early detection is key to successful treatment, But
[8:07] Speaker 1: traditional screening methods can sometimes fall short. And in a
[8:11] Speaker 1: promising development, a recent Swedish trial has shown that artificial intelligence, AI,
[8:16] Speaker 1: can improve the detection rate of breast cancer by 20%,
[8:19] Speaker 1: a significant advancement in the field of medical diagnostics. The study,
[8:23] Speaker 1: published by the Lancet Oncology, involved over 80,000 women in Sweden.
[8:29] Speaker 1: Half of the participants had their mammograms analyzed by two
[8:33] Speaker 1: radiologists without AI support. while the other half were screened
[8:37] Speaker 1: with the aid of AI and radiographer. The AI-supported analysis
[8:41] Speaker 1: demonstrated a detection rate of 20% higher than the traditional method,
[8:46] Speaker 1: and radiologists' reading time was reduced by 44%. This is
[8:50] Speaker 1: a huge and wonderful advancement in technology, but we're going
[8:55] Speaker 1: to approach it with a realistic lens as well. The
[8:57] Speaker 1: study also acknowledged that AI is not ready to be
[8:59] Speaker 1: implemented universally. Concerns about AI's unpredictability, potential over-detection of harmless lesions,
[9:06] Speaker 1: and other errors that might not be explainable are addressed.
[9:10] Speaker 1: These considerations highlight the complexity of incorporating AI into healthcare
[9:15] Speaker 1: and need careful evaluation for continued research. The trial's findings
[9:20] Speaker 1: have ignited interest in the potential, though, for opportunities and
[9:23] Speaker 1: risks that AI pose for medicine and the broader world.
[9:27] Speaker 1: It comes amid a dramatically shifting landscape for technology and
[9:31] Speaker 1: its regulation. as governments and institutions grapple with the ethics
[9:34] Speaker 1: and practices of AI's expanding role in various domains, including healthcare,
[9:40] Speaker 1: not just tech companies. This groundbreaking study opens doors to
[9:44] Speaker 1: many possibilities and discussions, from enhancing healthcare accessibility to ethical
[9:48] Speaker 1: considerations of public trust. It's a nuanced subject that requires
[9:52] Speaker 1: a balanced examination, taking into account technological advancements, global needs,
[9:57] Speaker 1: and moral perspectives. You see, there's an embrace of AI
[10:01] Speaker 1: and there's an apprehension to embrace AI. The deployment of
[10:04] Speaker 1: AI in healthcare, as demonstrated by this Swedish study, represents
[10:08] Speaker 1: a technological milestone with significant potential benefits. However, it has
[10:13] Speaker 1: sparked apprehensions among the public and within the medical community.
[10:16] Speaker 1: Concerns about how algorithms are trained and validated and potentials
[10:21] Speaker 1: for bias over diagnosis and unpredictable errors are some of
[10:24] Speaker 1: the pressing issues. The regulatory landscape is also shifting, with
[10:28] Speaker 1: the EU planning stringent regulations around AI, reflecting a global
[10:33] Speaker 1: sentiment of caution. This study not only showcases the potential
[10:36] Speaker 1: for AI in increasing the accuracy of breast cancer detection,
[10:39] Speaker 1: but it also highlights how this technology could become a
[10:42] Speaker 1: powerful tool and medical aid globally. In regions where there's
[10:46] Speaker 1: a shortage of medical professionals or advanced equipment, AI can
[10:50] Speaker 1: bridge the gap, making crucial diagnostics more accessible, especially in
[10:54] Speaker 1: places like third world countries. The potential reduction in the
[10:57] Speaker 1: need for multiple medical professionals to read mammograms could also
[11:01] Speaker 1: translate into more widespread availability of screening, especially in underprivileged areas.
[11:06] Speaker 1: So here's a reflection for us. The integration of AI
[11:09] Speaker 1: into medicine can be seen as an extension of our
[11:12] Speaker 1: God-given creativity. If AI is developed with a focus on
[11:15] Speaker 1: ethics and compassion, it aligns with Christ's calling to love
[11:18] Speaker 1: and care for our neighbors. As we've said before, good
[11:20] Speaker 1: tools in the hands of good people can do great things. However,
[11:24] Speaker 1: we as the Christian community must also be vigilant to
[11:27] Speaker 1: ensure that technology isn't worshipped, leaving culture susceptible to corruption, greed,
[11:33] Speaker 1: and addiction to success. New technologies must be used with wisdom,
[11:36] Speaker 1: a justice, and a focus on the inherent dignity of
[11:39] Speaker 1: human life. Always asking the question just because we can
[11:43] Speaker 1: do something doesn't mean we should do something. So, concerns
[11:47] Speaker 1: about over-diagnosis, bias, and the potential harm should be taken seriously,
[11:51] Speaker 1: even though this does seem to be a great milestone
[11:54] Speaker 1: in detecting cancer. So, with all this being said, let's
[11:58] Speaker 1: lift it up in prayer. Dear Lord, we give you
[12:01] Speaker 1: thanks for the creativity and innovation you have granted to humankind,
[12:05] Speaker 1: leading to advancements in technology that have the potential to
[12:08] Speaker 1: heal and save lives. We pray for wisdom, discernment, and
[12:11] Speaker 1: compassion as we seek to integrate AI into healthcare, that
[12:14] Speaker 1: it may be used ethically and not just to benefit
[12:17] Speaker 1: the elites, but benefit all people. Guide researchers, policymakers, and
[12:22] Speaker 1: medical professionals to approach this technology with a focus on dignity,
[12:26] Speaker 1: human life, health, and ethics. And may we all be
[12:30] Speaker 1: vigilant in our own lives for the potential pitfalls of technology. Lord,
[12:34] Speaker 1: may we always strive to use our knowledge and resources
[12:37] Speaker 1: for love, care, and the betterment of society. loving our neighbors,
[12:40] Speaker 1: and reflecting your grace. We pray these things with trust.
[12:44] Speaker 1: In Jesus' name, amen. Our last story today could very
[12:47] Speaker 1: well be a plot of a Hollywood thriller, complete with
[12:50] Speaker 1: mysterious Chinese companies, genetically engineered mice, and illegal laboratories. An
[12:55] Speaker 1: illegal laboratory was found in California in Fresno County, operated
[12:58] Speaker 1: by a Chinese biotech firm called Prestige Biotech. The firm
[13:03] Speaker 1: stands accused of using genetically engineered mice to study diseases
[13:07] Speaker 1: such as HIV, E. coli, malaria, and COVID-19. The lab
[13:11] Speaker 1: was discovered in a warehouse in Reedley, California, an unlikely
[13:15] Speaker 1: setting for a Bond-esque villain lair, where apparently they've swapped
[13:19] Speaker 1: laser sharks for mice. The discovery has raised numerous concerns,
[13:24] Speaker 1: notably the complete disregard for legal requirements or controls typically
[13:29] Speaker 1: needed to handle infectious agents. The warehouse, which, as city
[13:33] Speaker 1: manager Nicole Ziba put it, was a far cry from
[13:36] Speaker 1: the usual complaints about loud music or misplaced garden hoses
[13:40] Speaker 1: containing over 800 chemicals and more than 20 infectious agents.
[13:46] Speaker 1: It's also worth noting that the prestige biotech lab wasn't
[13:49] Speaker 1: even licensed to operate in California and had been there
[13:52] Speaker 1: under false pretenses. According to several reports, the mice were
[13:57] Speaker 1: found living in inhumane conditions, with another 175 found dead.
[14:02] Speaker 1: No surprise, they're dealing with diseases here. Packages were traced
[14:06] Speaker 1: back to the Chinese government, sparking further investigation. This story
[14:10] Speaker 1: leaves us with a lot of questions, a lot of intrigue,
[14:13] Speaker 1: such as who is this mysterious owner connected to the company?
[14:17] Speaker 1: Why were these activities permitted? And how did these materials
[14:20] Speaker 1: even get through customs? Perhaps most importantly, what were they
[14:24] Speaker 1: studying in this lab? We don't know enough details about
[14:27] Speaker 1: the lab to tell you what it was so far.
[14:29] Speaker 1: and we'll continue to report on this story for any updates.
[14:33] Speaker 1: What we do know is that people with good intentions
[14:36] Speaker 1: rarely need to hide what they're doing. 1 John 1-7
[14:39] Speaker 1: encourages us to walk in the light as Christ is
[14:41] Speaker 1: in the light. As believers, we're called to live transparently
[14:44] Speaker 1: before God and one another. The Lord desires us to
[14:47] Speaker 1: walk honestly, continually illuminating the truth of Christ. Stories like
[14:51] Speaker 1: these are intriguing and make us curious in the same
[14:54] Speaker 1: way that we would lean into a thriller or a
[14:57] Speaker 1: Hollywood movie. However, let's not lose sight of the lesson here.
[15:02] Speaker 1: What is our relationship with the truth? Have we taken
[15:05] Speaker 1: our hidden sins, baggage, and insecurities to the Lord? Whether
[15:09] Speaker 1: it be Hunter Biden, whether it be investigations into Donald Trump,
[15:12] Speaker 1: whether it be an illegal biotech laboratory in California, let's
[15:16] Speaker 1: look inward. Have we allowed ourselves to be transformed by truth?
[15:21] Speaker 1: And are we walking in the light as Jesus is
[15:23] Speaker 1: in the light? What are we hiding? What needs to
[15:26] Speaker 1: be brought before the Lord so that we can walk
[15:28] Speaker 1: in freedom transparently transforming the lives of people around us. So,
[15:34] Speaker 1: with that being said, let's lift this last story up
[15:37] Speaker 1: in prayer. Heavenly Father, we come before you with hearts
[15:40] Speaker 1: disturbed by the discovery of hidden unethical activities. We ask
[15:44] Speaker 1: for your guidance and your wisdom for those responsible for
[15:47] Speaker 1: investigating this matter. They may uncover the truth and ensure
[15:50] Speaker 1: justice is done. Lord, let this situation be a reminder
[15:53] Speaker 1: to us all to walk in the light as you
[15:55] Speaker 1: were in the light. Help us to live transparently before
[15:58] Speaker 1: you and others, to bring our hidden sins, fears, and
[16:00] Speaker 1: insecurities to you, and to be transformed by the light
[16:03] Speaker 1: of your truth in your gospel. Grant us the courage
[16:06] Speaker 1: to choose honesty and integrity, reflecting your love and righteousness
[16:10] Speaker 1: in all that we do. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
