[1:10] Speaker 3: King Nebuchadnezzar turns into a wild animal. In our last story, Shadrach, Meshach,
[1:17] Speaker 3: and Abednego refused to worship the statue Nebuchadnezzar set up,
[1:22] Speaker 3: so he threw them into the fiery furnace Hi. Hi.
[1:48] Speaker 1: It's Julianne Thompson, guest hosting for Julia Jeffress-Adler with the
[1:52] Speaker 1: Kids Bible in a Year podcast. I'm so excited you're
[1:55] Speaker 1: here with us today. Today we're going to hear a
[1:58] Speaker 1: story about King Nebuchadnezzar's second crazy dream and how his
[2:02] Speaker 1: pride caused him to learn a long lesson that he
[2:06] Speaker 1: never forgot about who's really in charge. Let's dive in.
[2:13] Speaker 3: One night, God gave Nebuchadnezzar a dream so scary He
[2:17] Speaker 3: asked many in the kingdom to get the meaning of
[2:20] Speaker 3: the dream. They could not interpret the dream. Then Nebuchadnezzar
[2:25] Speaker 3: called Daniel, who was anointed by God to interpret dreams.
[2:30] Speaker 3: He told Daniel, You have the spirit of God's in
[2:33] Speaker 3: you that can solve anything. I had a dream that
[2:38] Speaker 3: no one can interpret. Could you please explain it to me?
[2:43] Speaker 3: There was a tall and mighty tree standing in the
[2:45] Speaker 3: middle of the earth. Its branches had fruit for everyone
[2:48] Speaker 3: to eat, and animals lived under that tree. I was
[2:52] Speaker 3: admiring the greatness of the tree until a voice from
[2:55] Speaker 3: heaven told me, Cut the tree and its branches down,
[2:59] Speaker 3: but leave the stump. Kick the animals out and take
[3:02] Speaker 3: down the fruit. Leave that tree alone for seven years,
[3:06] Speaker 3: because he will live like a wild animal. He will
[3:10] Speaker 3: do wild things like eat grass and be drenched in dew.
[3:15] Speaker 3: It will be this way until he realizes that God
[3:18] Speaker 3: is the most powerful one. God can give anyone he
[3:22] Speaker 3: wants the authority to rule. Daniel, this was my dream.
[3:27] Speaker 3: Please tell me what it means. Daniel was shocked. He
[3:31] Speaker 3: had no words for the king. Nebuchadnezzar grew anxious and
[3:35] Speaker 3: told Daniel, Don't be afraid. Tell me the meaning. Then
[3:40] Speaker 3: Daniel said, My king... I wish that your enemies could
[3:45] Speaker 3: receive the dream God gave you. Nebuchadnezzar, you symbolize the
[3:50] Speaker 3: tree as a tall and strong ruler. The fruit is
[3:54] Speaker 3: the gift that you provide for your people. However, there
[3:58] Speaker 3: will be a time where God punishes you. Your kingdom
[4:01] Speaker 3: will be taken away and you will live like a
[4:04] Speaker 3: wild animal. You will be like this for seven years
[4:08] Speaker 3: until you are humble and recognize that God has the
[4:11] Speaker 3: ultimate power. over all the kingdoms of the earth. As
[4:15] Speaker 3: soon as you acknowledge God, the stump of your kingdom
[4:19] Speaker 3: will be restored. Please ask God to forgive your sins,
[4:24] Speaker 3: and maybe God will have mercy on you. King Nebuchadnezzar
[4:28] Speaker 3: did not listen to Daniel. A year after this interpretation,
[4:32] Speaker 3: King Nebuchadnezzar saw his kingdom and said, Look how great
[4:37] Speaker 3: Babylon is. This is because of my glory and power. I,
[4:42] Speaker 3: I am the greatest. Immediately a voice from heaven said,
[4:46] Speaker 3: King Nebuchadnezzar, your kingdom has been taken away from you.
[4:52] Speaker 3: You must leave and live like a wild animal. This
[4:55] Speaker 3: will last seven years or until you apologize and say
[5:00] Speaker 3: that God is the powerful ruler of all kingdoms. What
[5:05] Speaker 3: Daniel had prophesied came true. Nebuchadnezzar turned into an animal
[5:11] Speaker 3: with feathers and claws. He ate like an animal too,
[5:14] Speaker 3: with grass being his only food. Because he didn't live
[5:18] Speaker 3: in a palace anymore, he was drenched in the morning
[5:21] Speaker 3: dew every day. He lived like an animal for seven years.
[5:26] Speaker 3: Seven years later, Nebuchadnezzar looked up to heaven and praised God.
[5:32] Speaker 1: He said,'.
[5:32] Speaker 3: Lord, you have power over any kingdom.' You give the
[5:37] Speaker 3: power to rule to anyone you want. All glory and
[5:41] Speaker 3: power go to you, Lord. Then Nebuchadnezzar got his kingdom
[5:46] Speaker 3: back and was no longer looking or acting like an animal.
[5:51] Speaker 3: God gave him authority to rule as king again. Because
[5:55] Speaker 3: of this, Nebuchadnezzar was a better king after that and
[5:59] Speaker 3: followed God for the rest of his days. Nebuchadnezzar learned
[6:04] Speaker 3: that God will humble those who are prideful.
[6:13] Speaker 1: Boy, King Nebuchadnezzar sure has a lot of crazy dreams,
[6:17] Speaker 1: doesn't he? But God keeps using those dreams to give
[6:20] Speaker 1: him important messages. What was the message of this dream?
[6:25] Speaker 1: Do you remember? Yes, if King Nebuchadnezzar didn't start realizing
[6:30] Speaker 1: that God is one who put him in charge of
[6:32] Speaker 1: people and cities and soldiers and things, then Nebuchadnezzar would
[6:37] Speaker 1: stop being in charge of anything until he did. Now,
[6:42] Speaker 1: why do you think it was so important for King
[6:44] Speaker 1: Nebuchadnezzar to understand that God is the one who's really
[6:47] Speaker 1: in charge? Let's ask a different question. Why is it
[6:52] Speaker 1: important for you and me to understand that God is
[6:55] Speaker 1: really in charge? Well, your superpowers for one thing. What?
[7:00] Speaker 1: Did you know that God gave you superpowers?
[7:04] Speaker 3: Yes.
[7:05] Speaker 1: You might be good at math, or you can sing beautifully,
[7:09] Speaker 1: or you can run really fast. Maybe you're tenderhearted, and
[7:13] Speaker 1: when other people are hurting, you hurt for them. Or
[7:17] Speaker 1: maybe you like to teach or figure out mysteries or
[7:21] Speaker 1: listen really, really well and make people feel safe. All
[7:25] Speaker 1: those amazing, incredible, wonderful superpowers are gifts from God. You see,
[7:32] Speaker 1: he wants our world to be the very best it
[7:35] Speaker 1: can be. So he gave every person on the planet
[7:40] Speaker 1: special strengths, abilities, and opportunities to help make it that way.
[7:45] Speaker 1: He didn't leave anyone out. That means you are amazingly, incredibly,
[7:52] Speaker 1: wonderfully important. God didn't make anyone.
[7:56] Speaker 4: Else who is just like you.
[7:58] Speaker 1: He trusted you with your superpower to help make the
[8:02] Speaker 1: world the best it can be. And no one else
[8:05] Speaker 1: can do that thing better than you. And the only
[8:10] Speaker 1: way to supercharge your superpower is to remember that God
[8:13] Speaker 1: is the one who gave it to you. That makes
[8:16] Speaker 1: it exciting to use your gifts to help other people
[8:20] Speaker 1: or invent something new or create something beautiful. You see,
[8:26] Speaker 1: God didn't give you your strengths just to make you
[8:28] Speaker 1: look good or for you to keep them to yourself.
[8:32] Speaker 1: In the same way, he didn't make King Nebuchadnezzar a
[8:35] Speaker 1: powerful ruler just to make him look good or for
[8:38] Speaker 1: him to keep all that power to himself. God wanted
[8:43] Speaker 1: him to use his position as king to help make
[8:46] Speaker 1: the world the best it could be. And as long
[8:50] Speaker 1: as Nebuchadnezzar proudly thought his control over people and cities
[8:54] Speaker 1: was and soldiers and things was his alone, he couldn't
[8:59] Speaker 1: do that. But when he lost all of his power
[9:04] Speaker 1: and lived outside like an animal for seven years, he
[9:09] Speaker 1: discovered whose power he depended on to live.
[9:13] Speaker 3: God's.
[9:14] Speaker 1: He remembered that the strongest, smartest, bravest, kindest, and most
[9:19] Speaker 1: truthful people in his court were Jews who loved God.
[9:24] Speaker 1: And that when no one else could tell him his dream, Daniel,
[9:28] Speaker 1: a Jew who loved God, could. And when he got
[9:31] Speaker 1: mad and threw three Jewish boys who loved God into
[9:34] Speaker 1: a blazing hot fire, nothing happened to them. In fact,
[9:40] Speaker 1: a fourth person, like God, walked in the fire with them.
[9:46] Speaker 1: For years, King Nebuchadnezzar had been learning about the Lord
[9:49] Speaker 1: from Jews who loved God. Now he finally met the
[9:53] Speaker 1: Lord himself. And when he did, he said, I bless
[9:57] Speaker 1: the Most High and I praise and honor him. who
[10:00] Speaker 1: lives forever. For his dominion is an everlasting dominion and
[10:05] Speaker 1: his kingdom from generation to generation. And whoosh! His superpower
[10:13] Speaker 1: came rushing back and so did his kingdom. King Nebuchadnezzar,
[10:18] Speaker 1: the most powerful world leader of the time, got to
[10:22] Speaker 1: help make the world the best it could be because
[10:25] Speaker 1: he told everyone that there was someone more powerful than him.
[10:29] Speaker 1: The Lord, the God Most High. I'm so glad you
[10:34] Speaker 1: joined me for today's story. Come back next time to
