[1:14] Speaker 4: Paul's second letter to the church in Corinth. In our
[1:19] Speaker 4: last story, Paul wrote to the Corinthians.
[1:22] Speaker 5: To address issues of unity.
[1:24] Speaker 4: and immorality within the church. In this story, Paul will
[1:28] Speaker 4: write another letter. Since writing the first letter, the church
[1:32] Speaker 4: has solved some of the immorality issues in the church,
[1:35] Speaker 4: which Paul.
[1:36] Speaker 5: Praises them for.
[1:37] Speaker 4: However, new issues have arisen, and Paul also finds the
[1:41] Speaker 4: need to defend his standing as an apostle, as inspired
[1:47] Speaker 4: by 2 Corinthians.
[1:52] Speaker 1: Hi there, it's Julianne Thompson, guest hosting for Julia Jeffress
[1:56] Speaker 1: Sadler with the Kids Bible in Ear podcast.
[1:58] Speaker 2: I am so happy you're here.
[2:01] Speaker 1: Today we get to hear about the big change that
[2:04] Speaker 1: happens in our hearts when we start loving Jesus.
[2:08] Speaker 2: Let's jump in and find out what it is. I.
[2:14] Speaker 5: Paul, send greeting to you from God.
[2:17] Speaker 4: I give praise to God for being merciful and and
[2:20] Speaker 4: giving comfort to those in pain. We should comfort those
[2:23] Speaker 4: around us who are in pain. We can relate with
[2:27] Speaker 4: both the pain and the comfort of Jesus. No matter
[2:30] Speaker 4: what we experience, we must remain loyal to God. We
[2:34] Speaker 4: have experienced great pain while traveling, almost losing our lives.
[2:39] Speaker 4: We thought we would die, but we chose to trust
[2:42] Speaker 4: in God to protect us. We trust God because he
[2:45] Speaker 4: has always kept us safe. Please pray for us. We
[2:50] Speaker 4: are proud that we live by the grace and wisdom
[2:52] Speaker 4: of God, not our own wisdom. We write to you
[2:56] Speaker 4: what we have learned from God, and we can be
[2:58] Speaker 4: proud of each other for understanding God's truth. I hoped
[3:03] Speaker 4: to visit you so that I could continue to invest
[3:05] Speaker 4: in your lives. I wanted to come, but I wanted
[3:08] Speaker 4: to follow God's plan for my trip. We trust that
[3:11] Speaker 4: God will complete all of his promises. We give glory
[3:15] Speaker 4: to his name for this. God is the one who
[3:18] Speaker 4: will strengthen you and.
[3:19] Speaker 5: Give us his spirit as proof of his work in
[3:22] Speaker 5: our lives.
[3:25] Speaker 4: I decided not to visit you, for I did not
[3:28] Speaker 4: want to upset you. I write because I want you
[3:32] Speaker 4: all to know that I love you all deeply, and
[3:36] Speaker 4: I only correct you because of love. If anyone caused
[3:40] Speaker 4: pain to the group, you should forgive him, so he
[3:43] Speaker 4: will not be too sad. Listen to my voice and
[3:47] Speaker 4: tell him you love him, If you forgive him, I
[3:50] Speaker 4: will also forgive him. Satan wants us to be divided,
[3:55] Speaker 4: but we must not give in to his plans. I
[3:58] Speaker 4: am thankful that God leads us and uses us to
[4:01] Speaker 4: spread the good news.
[4:03] Speaker 5: We are messengers of.
[4:04] Speaker 4: God to those who need to know him. God is
[4:08] Speaker 4: the one who sends us, and we bring life to
[4:10] Speaker 4: those who need it.
[4:12] Speaker 5: Our ministry is.
[4:13] Speaker 4: Backed up by all of you, for you have a
[4:16] Speaker 4: great testimony of God through your lives. The Spirit of
[4:20] Speaker 4: God has written his truth on your hearts. Because of this,
[4:24] Speaker 4: we can be confident in God, not trusting in our
[4:28] Speaker 4: own strengths.
[4:30] Speaker 5: We are people of the Spirit of God, not the law.
[4:33] Speaker 4: If the law was so glorious that the people of
[4:36] Speaker 4: Israel could not even look at it, how much more
[4:39] Speaker 4: glorious is the Spirit of God? The law no longer
[4:42] Speaker 4: has glory because the Spirit of God, which lives inside
[4:46] Speaker 4: each of us, has taken it all. The glory of
[4:49] Speaker 4: the Spirit will never end. We have hope and are bold,
[4:54] Speaker 4: not like those who still trust in the law. They
[4:57] Speaker 4: cannot see the truth of the Spirit. When one seeks God,
[5:01] Speaker 4: they can see clearly and experience true freedom. One day,
[5:06] Speaker 4: we will be able to look at God and be
[5:08] Speaker 4: in His glory through the Spirit. We work for God,
[5:14] Speaker 4: and we cannot give up. We will not work in
[5:17] Speaker 4: evil ways or change God's word. If we preached a
[5:20] Speaker 4: false message, we would be exposed in front of the
[5:24] Speaker 4: people by God. We speak not our own truth, but
[5:28] Speaker 4: the truth of Jesus. God is the one who gives
[5:31] Speaker 4: us the truth to share. The truth we have is
[5:34] Speaker 4: precious and only belongs to God. We are attacked and pressured,
[5:39] Speaker 4: but we will not be destroyed. The life of Jesus
[5:42] Speaker 4: is living inside of us. We have believed in God,
[5:45] Speaker 4: and that is what we share. God has raised Jesus,
[5:49] Speaker 4: and he will also raise us and bring us to
[5:52] Speaker 4: be with him. The grace of God gives us a
[5:54] Speaker 4: great reason to be thankful.
[5:57] Speaker 5: We cannot give up, for.
[5:59] Speaker 4: Our bodies are growing weaker, but our spirit is growing stronger.
[6:03] Speaker 4: The pain we experience now is far less than the
[6:05] Speaker 4: glory we will experience one day. We focus not on
[6:10] Speaker 4: what we can see now, but what we will see
[6:13] Speaker 4: in the future. Even if the earth is destroyed, we
[6:17] Speaker 4: have a house made by God for us. While we
[6:21] Speaker 4: are here on earth, we are painfully waiting for our
[6:24] Speaker 4: home in heaven. The pain we feel on earth will
[6:27] Speaker 4: be replaced with a beautiful life.
[6:30] Speaker 5: It is God who is making this home for us.
[6:33] Speaker 4: We must continue to have courage. While we are on earth,
[6:37] Speaker 4: we are not living with God. We trust God, even
[6:41] Speaker 4: though we cannot see everything.
[6:42] Speaker 5: He is doing.
[6:43] Speaker 4: We would rather be with God than on earth, but
[6:46] Speaker 4: wherever we are, we try to please him. One day
[6:50] Speaker 4: we will be judged for whether we do good or
[6:53] Speaker 4: bad things on the earth. We must encourage each other
[6:56] Speaker 4: to take God very seriously.
[6:59] Speaker 5: God knows who we truly are, and we do as well.
[7:02] Speaker 4: What is in your heart is more important than what
[7:05] Speaker 4: people see on the outside.
[7:06] Speaker 5: We are moved by the love of God.
[7:09] Speaker 4: Because Christ died for us, we must live for him.
[7:13] Speaker 4: We must not look at people based on how they
[7:15] Speaker 4: look on the outside. If Christ lives inside of someone,
[7:19] Speaker 4: they are made into a new person. Their old ways
[7:23] Speaker 4: no longer exist. We are united with God. God trusts
[7:28] Speaker 4: us with the message of bringing people back to him.
[7:31] Speaker 5: We represent Christ on the earth.
[7:34] Speaker 4: Jesus took our sin so we could become the holiness
[7:37] Speaker 4: of God. Do not be prideful for receiving God's grace.
[7:41] Speaker 4: We must make it easy for people to find the
[7:44] Speaker 4: truth of God. Even in pain, hunger and beatings, we
[7:48] Speaker 4: must be wise, patient, kind and full of truth and power.
[7:53] Speaker 4: We give you truth from our hearts. I ask that
[7:57] Speaker 4: you would also open your hearts.
[8:00] Speaker 5: Do not allow unbelievers to change your faith.
[8:03] Speaker 4: The people of God cannot become like the people of
[8:06] Speaker 4: the world.
[8:07] Speaker 5: Light and darkness do not go together.
[8:09] Speaker 4: God says, I will live with my people and I
[8:14] Speaker 4: will be their God.
[8:15] Speaker 5: You should separate yourself.
[8:17] Speaker 4: With unclean things so you can come into my presence.
[8:22] Speaker 4: I will be your father and you will be my children.
[8:32] Speaker 1: Today's story was full of more important teaching from Paul.
[8:36] Speaker 1: He had a lot to say to the church in Corinth.
[8:39] Speaker 1: So let's take a closer look. Just like in his
[8:42] Speaker 1: first letter to the Corinthians, Paul is helping his friends
[8:45] Speaker 1: understand that when you become a Christian, your life doesn't
[8:48] Speaker 1: stay the same. Big changes start happening.
[8:52] Speaker 2: In fact, Paul says that when.
[8:54] Speaker 1: You become a Christian, you become like a whole new creature.
[8:59] Speaker 1: Now that sounds pretty wild, doesn't it? Do you think
[9:03] Speaker 1: Paul means that you grow horns like a cow or
[9:07] Speaker 1: a fluffy little tail like a dog? Or you're suddenly
[9:10] Speaker 1: able to breathe underwater like a fish?
[9:13] Speaker 2: No.
[9:15] Speaker 1: Even though that would be super amazing. That's not the
[9:18] Speaker 1: kind of new creation Paul is talking about. He means
[9:21] Speaker 1: that Jesus is changing you on the inside. Changing the
[9:25] Speaker 1: way you see people and feel about different issues and
[9:29] Speaker 1: how you think about life. And that change is dramatic
[9:33] Speaker 1: as a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. Now, when you
[9:37] Speaker 1: look at a caterpillar and a butterfly, they don't look
[9:41] Speaker 1: alike at all, do they? A caterpillar looks like a
[9:44] Speaker 1: fuzzy little finger with lots and lots of legs. Some
[9:48] Speaker 1: have stripes and some have spots, but all of them
[9:52] Speaker 1: inch their way along the ground from leaf to leaf. Butterflies,
[9:57] Speaker 1: on the other hand, are bright and beautiful. They fly
[10:00] Speaker 1: through the sky on vibrant, colorful wings. And if you
[10:03] Speaker 1: didn't know better, you would never look at a caterpillar
[10:06] Speaker 1: and think it could become a butterfly, or look at
[10:09] Speaker 1: a butterfly and remember that it had once been a caterpillar.
[10:13] Speaker 1: But God is funny sometimes, and he created each caterpillar.
[10:18] Speaker 1: with the amazing ability to turn into something totally new,
[10:22] Speaker 1: a butterfly. In the same way, he created you with
[10:28] Speaker 1: the amazing ability to turn into something totally new, but
[10:32] Speaker 1: still totally you. You see, when God's spirit comes to
[10:37] Speaker 1: live inside you, you don't become less interesting or less fun.
[10:42] Speaker 2: Or no, I'm boring.
[10:44] Speaker 5: No.
[10:46] Speaker 1: Just like a butterfly, you become more vibrant, more interesting,
[10:50] Speaker 1: and more colorful. Your sin is no longer weighing you down.
[10:54] Speaker 2: You're forgiven.
[10:55] Speaker 1: And your heart can now fly higher and higher, carried
[10:59] Speaker 1: by joy and peace and hope.
[11:01] Speaker 2: It's wonderful.
[11:02] Speaker 1: Paul says that difference is like the difference between the
[11:05] Speaker 1: law Moses offers and the life only Jesus can give.
[11:09] Speaker 1: Do you remember when Moses would visit God in the tabernacle?
[11:14] Speaker 1: Every time he came out, his face would shine so brightly.
[11:18] Speaker 1: He had to cover it with a veil. It was
[11:21] Speaker 1: like each time he visited with God, he experienced the
[11:24] Speaker 1: butterfly change. But that change didn't happen to anyone but Moses.
[11:29] Speaker 1: And it only happened when he went into the tabernacle.
[11:32] Speaker 1: After time, it faded away. Paul says that now.
[11:37] Speaker 2: We don't need a veil anymore.
[11:38] Speaker 1: Jesus tore it away because all of us can experience
[11:41] Speaker 1: the butterfly change. When we love Jesus, our hearts shine
[11:45] Speaker 1: brighter than Moses' face. And that bright, beautiful shine will
[11:49] Speaker 1: never fade away. And one day, the butterfly change that
[11:53] Speaker 1: happens in our hearts will happen to our bodies. We
[11:57] Speaker 1: won't grow a horn or a fluffy tail or butterfly wings.
[12:01] Speaker 1: But when we go to live with God, he will make.
[12:04] Speaker 2: Us into something brand new.
[12:07] Speaker 1: So new and vibrant and super amazing that we can't
[12:10] Speaker 1: even imagine it now. It'll be wonderful.
[12:13] Speaker 2: I am so happy you joined me today.
[12:17] Speaker 1: Come back next time to hear the rest of Paul's
[12:19] Speaker 1: second letter to his friends in Corinth. Remember, the Bible
[12:23] Speaker 1: is the best story ever told. It's God's story to you.
[12:27] Speaker 2: And it's all true. Can't wait for the next episode.
