[1:17] Speaker 4: Ezekiel's vision, Israel's revival. In our last story, Jerusalem was
[1:23] Speaker 4: besieged by Nebuchadnezzar and Jeremiah the prophet warned the people
[1:27] Speaker 4: of Judah to not go to Egypt, but they disobeyed.
[1:31] Speaker 4: In this story, we will learn about Ezekiel the prophet
[1:34] Speaker 4: who lived under the Babylonian captivity and his vision of
[1:38] Speaker 4: the Valley of Dry Bones and what it means for
[1:41] Speaker 4: God's people, as inspired by Ezekiel.
[1:48] Speaker 1: Hi there, it's Joya Sadler with the Kids Bible in
[1:50] Speaker 1: the Air podcast. I'm so happy you're here. Today we
[1:54] Speaker 1: get to hear a full story of hope about how
[1:57] Speaker 1: God will bring life back to his people in even
[2:01] Speaker 1: though they were taken away to Babylon. How did he
[2:04] Speaker 1: do it? Let's jump in and find out.
[2:09] Speaker 4: Ezekiel was a prophet of God. One day, the Spirit
[2:14] Speaker 4: of God led Ezekiel to a valley. The valley was
[2:17] Speaker 4: full of dry bones. The Spirit of God led Ezekiel
[2:21] Speaker 4: back and forth through the valley. Ezekiel noticed that there
[2:25] Speaker 4: were many bones in the valley. Then God asked Ezekiel,
[2:31] Speaker 4: Son of man, can these bones be brought back to life?
[2:35] Speaker 4: Ezekiel replied, God, you are in control of everything. Only
[2:41] Speaker 4: you know the answer to that question. Ezekiel was right.
[2:46] Speaker 4: Only God knows the answer to that question. So God
[2:51] Speaker 4: said to Ezekiel, Tell these bones to hear my word.
[2:56] Speaker 4: Tell them that I, God, am in control of everything.
[3:00] Speaker 4: Tell these bones that breath will enter them, and they
[3:04] Speaker 4: will come back to life. Tell them that I, God,
[3:08] Speaker 4: will cover them with flesh and skin, and I will
[3:12] Speaker 4: put breath back in them so they can come back
[3:15] Speaker 4: to life.
[3:16] Speaker 2: Then these bones will know that I, God, am the
[3:20] Speaker 2: one and only God.
[3:23] Speaker 4: Ezekiel listened to God, and he obeyed God. Ezekiel repeated
[3:28] Speaker 4: to the bones what God had said. As Ezekiel was
[3:31] Speaker 4: repeating what God said to the bones, there was a
[3:34] Speaker 4: great noise. All the bones in the valley began to rattle,
[3:39] Speaker 4: and bones were coming together. As Ezekiel watched, bones would join,
[3:45] Speaker 4: and flesh and skin would cover the bones. There was
[3:49] Speaker 4: only one problem. When the bones finished, there was no
[3:53] Speaker 4: breath in them. Then God said to Ezekiel, Son of man,
[3:59] Speaker 4: Tell the breath that I, God, am in control of everything.
[4:05] Speaker 4: Tell the breath to come from the four corners of
[4:08] Speaker 4: the earth and enter these dead bodies. Once the breath
[4:12] Speaker 4: enters them, they will come back to life. Ezekiel listened
[4:17] Speaker 4: to God again, and he obeyed God. Ezekiel repeated what
[4:21] Speaker 4: God had said. Then something incredible happened. Breath entered all
[4:28] Speaker 4: the dead bodies. and they came back to life. All
[4:32] Speaker 4: the bodies stood up on their feet, and Ezekiel noticed
[4:35] Speaker 4: it was a great army that came back to life.
[4:39] Speaker 4: Then God said to Ezekiel, Son of man, this is
[4:44] Speaker 4: all of the nation Israel. These bodies have no hope
[4:49] Speaker 4: because they are cut off from their homeland. Therefore tell
[4:53] Speaker 4: them that I, God, am in control of everything. I...
[4:58] Speaker 4: God will bring them back to their homeland, the land
[5:02] Speaker 4: of Israel.
[5:04] Speaker 2: I will put my spirit.
[5:05] Speaker 4: In everyone, and they all will live. Also I will
[5:11] Speaker 4: live with them.
[5:11] Speaker 2: In the land. Israel will know that whatever I say
[5:16] Speaker 2: comes to pass.
[5:18] Speaker 4: God finished speaking for a moment. Then he continued, saying, Ezekiel,
[5:25] Speaker 4: son of man, Take one stick and write Judah on it.
[5:30] Speaker 4: Then take a second stick and write Ephraim on it.
[5:35] Speaker 2: Join the two sticks together into one stick. Ezekiel, if
[5:39] Speaker 2: anyone asks you.
[5:41] Speaker 4: Why you did this, tell them that I, God, am
[5:45] Speaker 4: in control of everything. Tell the people that I, God,
[5:50] Speaker 4: will bring back all the shattered people of Israel. I
[5:55] Speaker 4: will reunite Israel and will bring them back to their homeland.
[5:59] Speaker 4: They will return to the mountains as one nation. They
[6:03] Speaker 4: will never be divided again, and they will never be
[6:07] Speaker 4: two nations again.
[6:09] Speaker 2: They will have one king.
[6:11] Speaker 4: They will no longer worship false gods, for I, God,
[6:15] Speaker 4: will save and cleanse them from all their sinful actions.
[6:19] Speaker 2: This time, they will follow my commands.
[6:23] Speaker 4: They will be careful on how they live, and they
[6:26] Speaker 4: will live in their homeland that I promised to their
[6:30] Speaker 4: ancestor Jacob. The people of Israel will live in the
[6:34] Speaker 4: land forever. I will make a peaceful covenant with them
[6:38] Speaker 4: that lasts forever. I will increase their numbers, and I
[6:43] Speaker 4: will live with them forever. Then the world will know
[6:47] Speaker 4: that I, God, am with Israel.
[6:56] Speaker 1: What a wonderful story of hope. After all the sorrow
[7:00] Speaker 1: the people of Judah had felt from being exiled to Babylon,
[7:03] Speaker 1: Ezekiel's words from the Lord had to feel like sunlight
[7:08] Speaker 1: shining through the clouds after a long, dark, stormy night.
[7:12] Speaker 1: Because those words told God's people that they were not forgotten,
[7:17] Speaker 1: that he hadn't given up on them. He would breathe
[7:20] Speaker 1: his life into them again, and they would live better
[7:24] Speaker 1: and stronger than ever. Ezekiel was in Babylon when he
[7:28] Speaker 1: received his vision from the Lord. But these ideas felt
[7:32] Speaker 1: kind of familiar, don't they? Do you remember another Bible
[7:36] Speaker 1: story where people had to leave their home because they sinned?
[7:39] Speaker 1: One where God also promised to fix everything and make
[7:43] Speaker 1: it even better than it was before? Yes, the story
[7:48] Speaker 1: of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Edom. You see,
[7:51] Speaker 1: from the very beginning of the Bible, God promised, has
[7:55] Speaker 1: wanted to share his home with people. Back when the
[7:58] Speaker 1: world was still perfect, he walked with Adam and Eve
[8:01] Speaker 1: in the garden. When life in the garden was just
[8:04] Speaker 1: a memory, God still wanted to share his home with people.
[8:08] Speaker 1: So he told Moses to build a house for him
[8:12] Speaker 1: called a tabernacle. Israel was just becoming a nation, and
[8:16] Speaker 1: so God walked with his people through the desert. When
[8:20] Speaker 1: life in the desert was just a memory, God still
[8:23] Speaker 1: wanted to share his home with his people. So King
[8:27] Speaker 1: Solomon built a house for God called the temple. Israel
[8:31] Speaker 1: was thriving as a glorious kingdom. And so God stayed
[8:35] Speaker 1: with his people in Jerusalem. But then the people sinned
[8:40] Speaker 1: a lot. They didn't care that God wanted to share
[8:42] Speaker 1: his home with them. And so one day Ezekiel had
[8:45] Speaker 1: a different vision. It was of God's presence leaving the temple.
[8:50] Speaker 1: Soon after, God's people were forced to leave Jerusalem. There
[8:56] Speaker 1: was no garden, tabernacle, or temple in Babylon. Was God
[9:01] Speaker 1: even there? His people hadn't worshipped him for so long.
[9:05] Speaker 1: They probably felt like their faith had died, like their
[9:08] Speaker 1: souls were nothing but hot, dry, dusty old bones. But
[9:12] Speaker 1: from the very beginning, God has wanted to share his
[9:16] Speaker 1: home with his people. And no matter what his people
[9:20] Speaker 1: did or how much they sinned, they could not change
[9:24] Speaker 1: his mind. Nothing you can do can change God's mind either.
[9:31] Speaker 1: He always wants to be with you because God's love
[9:35] Speaker 1: is bigger and longer and higher and stronger than you
[9:39] Speaker 1: or I could ever imagine. And he doesn't give up.
[9:43] Speaker 1: Even if your faith feels like nothing but dry, dusty
[9:46] Speaker 1: old bones. If we are faithless, he remains faithful. For
[9:51] Speaker 1: he cannot deny himself. He'll take what seems dead and
[9:56] Speaker 1: he'll bring it to life again. Breathe life into yourself.
[10:00] Speaker 1: soul just like he breathed life into adam back when
[10:04] Speaker 1: the world was still perfect you see in god's hands
[10:07] Speaker 1: even a faith that feels dead can come back to
[10:11] Speaker 1: life again that's what the lord wanted his people to
[10:14] Speaker 1: know when they were exiled in babylon that they were
[10:18] Speaker 1: not forgotten And he hadn't given up on them, that
[10:22] Speaker 1: he still wanted to share his home with them, that
[10:25] Speaker 1: their faith would come back to life. And years later,
[10:29] Speaker 1: when life in Babylon was just a memory, Jesus came
[10:33] Speaker 1: and made his home in Israel. He walked with his
[10:38] Speaker 1: people and told them, if you love me and keep
[10:41] Speaker 1: my teaching, my father and I will come and make
[10:45] Speaker 1: our home with you. Now, all these years later, nothing
[10:49] Speaker 1: has changed. To God, you are not forgotten. You are invited.
[10:55] Speaker 1: He won't give up on you. He invites you to
[10:58] Speaker 1: be in his family and accept Jesus as your savior. Today,
[11:03] Speaker 1: when you love Jesus, when you accept Him as your Savior,
[11:07] Speaker 1: ask Him to forgive you and receive His Holy Spirit,
[11:10] Speaker 1: He'll come and make His home in your heart. And
[11:14] Speaker 1: years from now, when life on earth is just a memory,
[11:17] Speaker 1: we'll walk again with God in His home, alive in
[11:22] Speaker 1: a way that's better and stronger than we've ever been.
[11:25] Speaker 1: And it will be perfect. I'm so glad you joined
