[3:44] A single light burns brightly down in the basement deep under the old brownstone mansion
[3:47] at the corner of Fifth and Fourth, illuminating a small paper target twenty yards
[3:53] away. Nick Catter stands a small automatic in his hand, firing methodically to
[4:00] the left about eight feet eight inches. Try again, left again, nine
[4:05] feet two inches, nine feet exactly that time. Hey, Hey, nay,
[4:11] yes, Patsy, he's firing. I want to come in, Come
[4:14] ahead, I'm just about finished. I've got a close up shop today,
[4:16] Nick, you'll be late, I see it. Won my bet with Sergeant
[4:19] Matheson. What I bet? I'm a dollar The Austrian masser wouldn't eject the
[4:23] cartridge more than ten feet. I've just fired fifty rounds and not one cartridge
[4:27] is more than nine and a half feet from the gun. I win a
[4:30] dollar, and Jensen is clear to the murder charge, which proves that he
[4:31] couldn't done it personally. I think I was waiting for you to notice evening.
[4:39] God. Uh well, miss Bowen, you look most charming, you
[4:42] really think so? Nick? Hey, I asked where you're going tonight?
[4:45] Out with you with me? Please? Hurry, Nick will be late.
[4:49] Wait for what? Don't tell me you've forgotten and you were so anxious to
[4:53] go and let it came. Honestly, Nick, sometimes I believe you're not
[4:57] human. Now hurry and get into your dinner clothes. I'll explain the way
[5:00] over with Patsy. Where are we going to a murder? All right?
[5:15] All right, you can stop kidding me now, I remembered Patsy, I
[5:17] was so wrapped up in that ballistics work and slipped my mind. You sure,
[5:20] I'll recite it like a lesson. I've been invited to join the famous
[5:24] Alphabet Club, the most exclusive gathering of eminent talents in the country, right
[5:28] right, Incidentally, why is it called the alphat Club? Nick? Were?
[5:31] The first letters are? The names of the charter members are the first
[5:34] four letters of the alphabet. Arnold Roger Nelson, Burns the architect, Walter
[5:40] Crane, the boy Wonder engineer, and George Dennis the Attorneyidentally, the not
[5:44] are the charter members. They're the initiating committee too. They're the ones who
[5:47] are going to put me through the ropes before the rest of the club arrived
[5:50] for dinner and their initiation stunts A cute idea, yes, the fact brother
[5:54] tickles me staging a make believe murder. They swear, I'll never be able
[5:58] to break it. Challenge the mastermind. Eh, that's the club over there.
[6:02] You can park in, friends, right on, We just about on
[6:08] time. Oh please hurry, Nick. I saw Burne the other day.
[6:13] He swore they'd cooked up a beauty. You know, I'm really intrigued.
[6:20] Yes, please, Miss Bourne and mister Carratt. Oh yes, good evening,
[6:25] madam, Good evening, sir. Welcome to the Alphabet Club. Thank
[6:28] you. The members are waiting in the lounge room. Will you follow me?
[6:32] Please? Could I join too? Nick? No, Patsy if they
[6:36] don't admit women. They asked me to bring you along because they said they
[6:41] knew I worked with you in my cases. Pretty swang place, isn't it,
[6:44] Nick? I wonder how much the club dos right here, sir,
[6:47] at just one moment, please, gentlemen, mister Carter and miss bowen.
[6:56] Well for the love, gentlemen. Gentlemen, on the door please, mister
[7:02] Rocher, mister Burns, please open, mister Crane, mister Tennis er enter
[7:12] the house. So dead murder awaits? Nick Cutter, Golly, it's pitch
[7:18] dark, Watchers, Patsy, don't trip on any dead body. Noise,
[7:24] I hear sounds like we're in a toy shop. Let's close out, miss
[7:28] Boone. Lets please, let's have the light of water. That said you
[7:32] are Golly, who's that lying on the floor. I assume it's Santa Claus?
[7:38] All right, you are the name of this mystery is who killed Santa
[7:41] Claus? And if mister Cutter and miss Boyne want any dinner, they'd better
[7:46] find out who done it and quick Well, gentlemen, I shall begin with
[7:48] the taking of the evidence. My name is Arnold Archer. I love Santa
[7:53] Claus, but today I hate him. Why because he brought me this cat
[7:57] pistol and I really a horn. My name is Nelson Burns, and this
[8:03] horn is a sad disappointment to me. I hate Santa Claus. I really
[8:09] wanted the sword he gave Walter Crane, and I wanted the captistly gave Archer.
[8:13] Who's Santa Claus. It's George Dennis. He'll say hello after mister Carter
[8:16] finds out who's done it. Well, gentlemen, I see you all have
[8:20] a good and sufficient motive for killing Santa Claus. I must now examine our
[8:24] make believe corpse to discover the method of this brutal fowl and the illegal make
[8:28] believe murder. Am I see, Nick? What is it? Get on
[8:35] the phone, call Maddie. Get the homicide squad up your fast, mister
[8:37] Carter, I'm not joking. Mister Rotcher, you better call the other members
[8:41] and cancel the dinner. You'll make believe murder has turned real. Dennis has
[8:43] been shocked to death. All right, all right, just a minute.
[9:01] I want to get you guys straight. Who's the corpse? Nick, George
[9:03] Dennis, the lawyer? You remember him, Maddie. He was retained as
[9:07] an expert in the Wilner case. Yeah, I got that now, which
[9:09] one is Arnold Archer? I am Archie. I believe me, Sergeant Matherson,
[9:13] this must be some kind of ghastly mistake. None of us would want
[9:16] to kill Dennis. We were his friend, Sergeant. We couldn't have any
[9:20] reason to kill him. Oh you're Burns, huh? Nelson burn Yes,
[9:24] And the gentleman over there is Walter Crane. I think this is a pretty
[9:26] bad taste Carter and I don't like it. Dennis was killed accidentally, There's
[9:30] no doubt of it. It's pretty cheap to try and turn this into a
[9:33] murder case for the sake of note rioting. No, listen, why it's
[9:37] a crane. You're positive this was an accident. Why well, isn't it
[9:41] obvious The four of us were alone in this room when the steward knocked on
[9:45] the door. Dennis laid down on the floor. I put out the lights.
[9:46] Nelson Burns dried off the blanks. Yes, well, evidently a round
[9:50] of live ammunition must have gotten mixed up with the blank. Oh no,
[9:52] that's not true. I swear as is right. I checked the gun.
[9:56] There are four rim fire blank shells in the chambers. Four. I see
[10:00] Patsy understands what I mean. Doesn't anyone else? What is this? Nick?
[10:05] When Patsy and I were outside, we heard five shots, five meaning
[10:09] that a fifth shot was fired along with those four blanks, meaning that one
[10:11] of you three gentlemen took advantage of the make believe murder to murder George Dennis
[10:16] place. None of you are to leave this room. Matty, get your
[10:20] squad in here SARTs these men and take this place apart if you have to.
[10:24] I want to find the gun that killed Dennis. Okay, Nick,
[10:28] the murderer wants to save us the trouble. He can talk now we leave
[10:33] me, gentlemen, this won't be any make believe search. Nobout having the
[10:37] same all right, Maddy, Yeah, going right, we're over here,
[10:52] Maddy, done anything to office sergeant. Well, let's hear what you've got
[10:58] first. Well, Archer's the famous financia worth over a million. Wouldn't kill
[11:03] for money, asn't burn same status plenty of money did over water crane.
[11:07] All four men were pretty close friends at college, known each other for years.
[11:11] Apparently they're still friends. That might not be true. People grow apart
[11:16] sometimes. On the other hand, all three are pretty ruthless kind of men.
[11:20] I imagine you have to be tough to make the success they had,
[11:22] and you have to have a certain amount of cold courage to pull off a
[11:26] murder the way this one has been handled. How about the gun? There
[11:28] ain't no gun. What you heard me, Patsy. There ain't no gun,
[11:31] Nick. We took them guys apart and put them together again. We
[11:35] took the roll apart. There ain't but one gun in the place, the
[11:39] one that fired the blanks. That's impossible, you're telling me, Nick.
[11:43] We opened every book, We even took the toys apart. No soap,
[11:46] and the gun couldn't have been thrown out the window because there ain't no window.
[11:50] Look, it's getting pretty late, Nick, and they're getting kind of
[11:54] sore in there. Do you want me to hold them? I'll tell you
[11:56] what, Maddy. Our bedroom's upstairs. I'll go upstairs if they want and
[12:01] try and get some sleep. But they're not to leave the club, right.
[12:03] And I want a ballistics report of the bullet that killed Dennis as soon
[12:05] as possible. Right, if you want me, I'll be in the kitchen,
[12:09] what doing, getting something to eat and pumping the steward. I'm hungry
[12:13] for food and facts. Now this is a man that can cook after my
[12:30] own heart. Thank you, sir, me too. I'll take lessons from
[12:33] you any day, Thank you, ma'am. Too bad at dinner like this
[12:37] had to be wasted. Oh it's not the dinner. I mind, sir,
[12:39] it's the fact that you're joining the club. We're so inauspicious, the
[12:45] very word, sir. You think they'll take me in any way, despite
[12:48] what happened tonight, Why, of course, sir. I'm sure the gentlemen
[12:52] are still anxious to have the famous Nick Carter as a member, even what
[12:54] it means, the famous Nick Carter has become merely an infamous detective accusing the
[12:58] members murder. I'm sure it was an accident, sir. You think a
[13:03] live shell might have gotten mixed up with the blanks, Yes, sir,
[13:05] I see, Steward. You know who loaded the gun. It was mister
[13:11] Crane, sir, the engineer, Yes, ma'am. Mister Crane always plans
[13:15] our little festivity, sir. He planned the entire initiation tonight, talking about
[13:20] it all weekie was sir. I used to see him late at night thinking
[13:22] it over in the lounge, chuckling to himself. Was it his gun?
[13:26] Yes, sir, I see. Well, thanks very much, Steward,
[13:31] both for the excellent food and for the information, especially the food. Come
[13:35] on, BETSI, I think I'd like to go upstairs and have a few
[13:46] words with Crane. Do you think Crane. Oh no, Betsy, certainly
[13:50] he's a likely prospect. I didn't like the way he kept insisting it was
[13:54] an accident. What I don't like is the fact that Walter Crane, engineer,
[13:56] gentleman with a calculating and mechanical aim of mind, gentlemen who loaded the
[14:01] gun himself, failed to notice an extra shot was fired. That's no initiation.
[14:07] Come on, upsairs, quicker, hang from upstairs, Maddie, come
[14:11] quick. Sounded like crater Nicks might be a trap to get us up here.
[14:15] This is Crane's room right here, Glory b it's Crane all right,
[14:22] did on the floor with a toy sword in his heart? Who's the man
[14:35] who turned make believe murder into reality and then covered it up by a second
[14:39] murder with a make believe sword? How will Nick break this strange case?
[14:43] We'll see in just a moment. Most folks remember what a long, tiresome
[14:48] job it used to be to keep floors and linoleum spick and span. But
[14:52] now LINEX self polishing wax, the modern shortcut to beautiful floors, has cut
[14:58] that job to a minimum. For linax, self polishing wax made from a
[15:03] new formula developed by leading chemists to give you the finest is designed to save
[15:07] you work, to give your floors and linoleum amazing new beauty, new protection,
[15:13] new skid resistance. For one thing, Linax self polishing wax takes only
[15:16] a jiffy to wipe on and dries without tiresome rubbing to a handsome satny luster.
[15:22] For another, because Linax self polishing wax contains the greatest possible amount of
[15:28] genuine Carnavo wax, the finish lasts longer. What's more, the underwriter's laboratories
[15:33] have proved by actual test than any hardwood, linoleum or rubber tile floor is
[15:39] less slippery after Linax self polishing wax has been applied, no wonder. It's
[15:45] called the anti skid floor finish, and it always gives that satny look that
[15:50] only real wax can give. So it's just common sense to depend on Linax
[15:54] self polishing wax the new way to perfect floor care. Enjoy greater leisure,
[16:00] greater convenience, greater beauty in your home with Linax self Polishing wax available at
[16:07] your hardware, paint or department store. Ask your dealer now for all three
[16:11] great Linax Home brighteners the Easy Way to more attractive living. And now back
[16:22] to our story. The make believe murder of George Dennis, which was staged
[16:26] as Nick's initiation to the Alphabet Club, suddenly turned real. Nick could find
[16:32] no motive for the murder, and Sergeant Matheson was unable to locate the gun
[16:34] that fired the death shot. While Nick and Patsy were collating evidence in the
[16:38] club, they heard a scream and rushed upstairs to find Walter Crane stabbed to
[16:42] death, a toy sword in his heart. Now, with Sergeant Matheson and
[16:48] Patsy, Nick examines the dead man as the other club members burns an archer
[16:52] rush into the room. What sake, Karda, what is good? Scream?
[16:55] All right? All right, don't park here. This ain't no Coney
[16:56] Island peep show. Donald it. I think this is a reunion. Go
[17:02] on, get out of here. Going back to you, I want to
[17:04] ask a couple of questions. Okay, so sure, where were you when
[17:08] you heard Crane scream? I just finished bathing. I was in the show
[17:11] room. I see as why you're still carrying at bath towel? Yes,
[17:14] and you, mister Burns, well, I was in my room, waiting
[17:15] for Arta to finish. I was smoking a cigar at my window. Where's
[17:19] the cigar? I don't know. I think I dropped it out the window
[17:23] when I heard Crane yell. How to get one of your men to check
[17:26] that? Right? Be back in a flash, and let's have a look
[17:27] at that sword. I barr a towel moment, Dodger. Certainly, I
[17:32] don't want to smudge any prince that might be on it. You thanks,
[17:36] Just wrap this towel around it, mister Carter. Surely you don't think I
[17:41] you what, mister Burns, well, merely because I said ingested I wanted
[17:44] Crane's toy sword during the make believe murder, you don't think I did.
[17:48] I killed Crane with it. Deductive reasoning, isn't that obvious? Mister Burns,
[17:52] You have nothing to worry about on that count, thank you. But
[17:53] both of you have plenty to worry about another count. No, mister,
[17:57] I don't think either of you want to stand. Two murders have been committed
[18:00] in this club. Someone's guilty. That leaves three suspects you, mister Roger,
[18:06] you, mister Burns, and the steward. They execute man for murder.
[18:10] Gentlemen try to understand that, well, I held go all right,
[18:14] Nick, all right, Matty, thanks, These gentlemen may return to their
[18:17] rooms, all right, Jens? Well, Nick, what about Crane killed
[18:22] almost instantly, just timing up the scream. Whoever killed him? He has
[18:26] plenty of power to thrust this dull blade deep enough to penetrate the heart he
[18:30] prints on the blade. Nick, I'll take the towel off and look.
[18:36] No blades, dry and clean as a mirror. You look at it by
[18:41] reflected light, not a latent print, and not even a smut. It
[18:45] doesn't help much. Well, I got news. It ain't gonna help much
[18:48] more. Yes, they took this slug out of Dennis. Here, I
[18:51] look at it. Thanks twenty two. I see wait, hello, you
[19:00] see huh? Nick? What is it? No rifling marks on this bullet,
[19:03] Patsy, No rifling marks, no lands or grooves on the slug at
[19:06] all. Now what's that supposed to me? The killer threw it at Dennis.
[19:10] That's impossible, But we heard the extra shot. Mattie's just being difficult,
[19:12] Patsy. I think Matti's bad news is the best I've had on this
[19:15] case. Well, now, what's that supposed to me. It means I
[19:18] think I know where to find the gun that killed Dennis. Come on,
[19:21] Patsy, we're going to have a look at Dennis's house. Well, how
[19:22] in places did the gun get there? I didn't say the gun was there?
[19:25] The guns in this house? Then why do you go into Dennis's place
[19:27] find out why it was fired. I'm not a scrap of paper worth looking
[19:42] at in his desk. Patsy, looks like we'll have to open that safe.
[19:47] Too bad. Dennis was a bachelor. No one here to give us
[19:49] the combination. We could wait for a court order to have the safe open,
[19:52] but I don't think we bother just to have the stethoscope in my bag.
[19:56] Okache, you're going to crack this crib? Okay, where did you
[19:59] pick up that jon from a crime magazine? You just scope? Thanks?
[20:03] Well, that magazine must have been fifteen years old. Crooks don't talk that
[20:07] way anymore. How would they describe what you're doing? They'd say that I
[20:11] was exercising a natural facility and delicacy of touch to turn the dial. Meanwhile,
[20:15] using a medical device to hear the tumblers ball quiet. Now shouldn't take
[20:22] long it's a three job, three bolt job. What made you go straight?
[20:26] Nick? Pat Patsy is a base insinuation. My criminal facility always acquired
[20:36] having a long career hiding crooks anyway, Are all right, let's go through
[20:45] this stuff quickly. Is Dennis's insurance one hundred thousand dollars? Bar associations beneficiary
[20:56] packages of old letters? Give them? Oh, here's a note from Archer
[21:00] offers Dennis one hundred and fifty thousand dollars for the shares of stock Dennis hose
[21:03] an Archer's company. Nice. Wait a minute, he's a will. Let's
[21:07] see now this is very interesting. Mister Dennis leaves all cash and stock holdings
[21:15] to his old ex college roommate, John Wendell. Who's John Wendell? John
[21:19] Wendall happens to be the steward of the Alphabet Club. Well, old college
[21:23] friend. Eh, maybe that won't interest matty, Nick. Do you think
[21:29] it was Wendell the stewart? He he killed Dennis with the stock? Wait,
[21:32] let's have a look at that envelope here. Looks like it contains stock
[21:36] shares? It does it? Nick? There's only one share of stock in
[21:40] here, one single share. Pa. There you five hundred dollars. Someone's
[21:45] taking the rest just one share. Huh, Betsy, where's that note from
[21:51] Archer? You just read me here? Nick, why let's see you one
[21:56] hundred and fifty thousands. That's so you didn't read this correctly. It says
[22:03] that Archer offers Dennis one hundred and fifty thousand dollars for his share of stock.
[22:08] Dennis only owned the one share, and why should Archer offer him one
[22:11] hundred and fifty thousand dollars for a share of stock worth only five hundred dollars.
[22:15] You'll find out shortly. Let me have that phone. Oh, why
[22:18] do you always have to be so mysterious me? I don't like making statements
[22:22] until i'm positive. Alphabet club Charger Mathison speaking Maddy. This is Nick.
[22:27] Oh what do you find? Nick? I think I've found all the answers.
[22:30] Well, Nick, leave me here, not on the phone. I'm
[22:33] going to demonstrate now. Listen, I'm listening. Get the surviving members out
[22:36] of bed. Tell them I've broken the case. Tell them I'm going to
[22:38] re enact the crime for them. Yeah. When Patsy and I come to
[22:41] the door, I want the steward to meet us and we'll play the make
[22:44] believe murder all over again, just as it happened. You can take Raine's
[22:48] part, re enact the make believe murder. Right. I think you're crazy,
[22:52] Nick, Maybe at this time the make believe murder is going to lead
[22:55] to an honest to goodness solution. I'll set Patsy. I've got it,
[23:10] Nick. We're going to repeat everything we did earlier this evening, right,
[23:12] and that repetition means every detail, no matter how small. Right. First
[23:18] I rang the bell, Yes, sir, Miss Bowen and mister Carter.
[23:27] Good, good evening, madam, Good evening, sir, Welcome to the
[23:33] Alphabet Club. Hi. I think I asked you to follow me, mister
[23:40] Carter, right, go ahead, all set in them ready, nice,
[23:48] ready to go, gentlemen, mister Carter and miss Bowen make life. I'm
[23:56] screaming, Nick, that was crazy job. After knock again, then I
[24:07] said, gentlemen, please open the door, right, and then only four
[24:14] shots that time. Hemosper's opening to the door. Then what I said,
[24:18] something about entering the house of death. We came in and herd toy s.
[24:23] Then I told Crane put on the lights. I'll take care of that.
[24:26] Thanks. I asked who was lying on the floor, and I assumed
[24:29] it was Santa Claus, and you started explaining, Archer, So explain the
[24:34] name of this mystery is who killed Santa Claus. If mister Cutter wants any
[24:38] dinner, he'd better solve it. Gentlemen, I shall begin with the taking
[24:42] of the evidence. Ah, this is screwey. My name is Arnold Archer.
[24:48] Today I hate Santa Clause. Why because he brought me this cap pistol.
[24:52] I wanted a horn. My name is Nelson Burns and this horn one
[24:57] minute, mister Burns. Yes, Dotter detail. Mister Archer was supposed to
[25:02] snap his cap pistol when he spoke go ahead, mister Roger. I'll go
[25:07] ahead, fire that gun. Mister Roger. You'll never get me up.
[25:11] That's why gun tory be. That cap pistol was laid. It fired a
[25:15] real bullet. And that why still Archer, you'll never break away. That
[25:19] matter is a solution of our missing gun. Nick, why the single share
[25:23] of stock Dennis held was the answer. You never owned more than one share
[25:27] of stock, and yet Archer wanted to buy it back for one hundred and
[25:30] fifty thousand dollars One hundred and fifty grand. What for? I'm afraid mister
[25:33] Dennis was guilty of an old legal racket. As a stockholder in Archer's firm,
[25:38] you had the right of access to the company's books. You seem to
[25:41] have all the answers cut her. Yes, he sits through those books until
[25:45] he dug out enough of the evidence of illegal mugget operations to ruin us,
[25:48] and then offer to sell his share of stock and stockholder's right to bring action
[25:52] back to you for an extraorbinant sum. A blackmail, legal blackmail. Mister
[25:57] Archer, you were afraid Dennis is going to blackmail you for the rest of
[26:00] his life, so you'll kill him. Which is the final irony of the
[26:03] case that the make believe murder was committed with a make believe gun. In
[26:15] just a moment, Nick will be back to give you the final details and
[26:18] tell you how a toy gun could commit a make believe murder. Here's a
[26:23] special message for the man of the house. If you're a golfer with pet

[27:42] surfaces in one coat, dries in one hour, bringing bright, new loveliness
[27:48] to your walls and ceilings in bedroom, living room or hall, and hear
[28:00] from Nick Carter himself. Nick, I thought Sergeant Mathieson checked the toy gun
[28:04] when he searched the room and found nothing wrong with it. That's right,
[28:07] Ken. A point very few people know is the fact that that certain types
[28:11] of cap pistols can fire live ammunition. The bullet is wedged into the barrel
[28:15] through a small hole in the plate that should support the cap. Then the
[28:18] hammer snapped and discharges the bullet accurately enough to kill as short rains. So
[28:23] Archer killed Dennis with the gun and then pretended it was a toy. Right.
[28:27] He disposed of the cartridge by the simple means of swallowing it. I
[28:30] guess that, and he admitted it. Well, why do he kill Craig?
[28:33] Because Crane's methodical memory couldn't be fooled. He finally recalled where the extra
[28:37] shot came from when he called Archer into his room and confronted him. Archer
[28:41] killed him, said, he just grabbed up the toy sword and stabbed Do
[28:45] you know that before I had a pretty good idea on the pretext of protecting
[28:49] fingerprints on the sword. I borrowed Archer's towel. He claimed he'd been bathing,
[28:55] but his towel was quite dry, didn't even dampen the metal blade.
[28:59] That's right, I remember you mentioned it. I stayed the repeat performance to
[29:02] frighten Archer and save us the trouble of a long cross examination. I knew
[29:07] that Archer and self defense would probably load his toy gun again, hoping to
[29:11] use it to effect an escape. That was what I was playing the scene
[29:14] for. Golly pretty clever. What story if you got in mind for us?
[29:18] Next week? Nick? Well can Next week, Patsy and I are
[29:21] going to meet at corpse that has been shot to death by a person or
[29:23] person's unknown. The only clue to the mystery is a letter in the pocket
[29:27] of the dead man. But the odd thing is the fact that there wasn't
[29:30] any stamp or address on the envelope, and there wasn't anything on the paper
[29:36] inside a letter without anything on it? What do you call this story?
[29:38] Nick? The Case of the Unwritten Letter, Nick Carter, Master Detective is
[29:53] copyrighted by Street and Smith Publications, Incorporated. Van Clark is starred as Nick.
[30:00] Charlotte Manson plays Patsy. Original music is played by George Wright and a
[30:04] resemblance in these programs to actual persons living or dead is purely coincidental. The
[30:08] entire production is under the direction of Jack McGregor. Nick Catter. Master Detective
[30:26] is presented at this time and over these same stations each week by the three
[30:30] great Linux Home Brightness, Linax Self Polishing, Wax, Linux Cream Polish,
[30:36] and Linux Clear Glass created by ACME America's great producer of ACME Fine Quality Paints.
[30:44] This is Ken Paul speaking for the thousands of Linux dealers all over America
[30:48] and saying, so long until next week. This is the mutual broadcasting system.
[31:04] Welcome back. Well, I didn't actually buy the solution with a cap
[31:11] pistol, but I think they did make it more applausible, and I'm assuming
[31:15] that they don't make pistols like that that can be used that way anymore,
[31:19] but experts on cap pistols can correct me. I should mention there were a
[31:26] couple of lost episodes in between last week's showing this one, The Case of
[31:33] the Near Sighted Picture and A Penny for Your Thoughts were those which were lost
[31:40] previously Worth noting. Also here is hearing the name of Charlotte Manson in the
[31:48] credits. I don't believe I heard it before, but she was really taking
[31:56] over for Helen Chot as Patsy different style. She really was exclusively known for
[32:06] radio work, and she continued radio acting into the late fifties. And the
[32:13] only information I could really find on hers that she made in appearance on the
[32:17] Jackie Gleason Show and also The Untouchables, and that she had a serious accident
[32:24] that she had to come back from being stuck in a situation of being in
[32:30] a near paralysis. Now on to some listener comments and feedback. Bob says,
[32:37] thanks Adam. Loved the Johnny Dollar series in Nero Wolf, but you
[32:39] bring it to life with all the background and inside. Thank you very much.
[32:45] Bob also received some listener comments regarding the Nick Carter episode that we did,
[32:53] the Haunted Rocking Chair. John says Nick Carter a great old time radio
[33:00] show, and Brian says, this one sounds fine. I love the Nick
[33:04] Carter episodes. They're always not and clear. I know these come off old
[33:08] records, so I'll take anything we can hear, but these are so nice.
[33:14] Well, thanks Brian. And these are actually some newer ones in terms
[33:20] of recordings. I found the older ones I had a lot that were encrypted
[33:24] at twenty four kbps, which is very low quality. So this is a
[33:32] pretty pretty good improvement and another listener going by Miss Marple says most enjoyable.
[33:38] Thank you well, thank you so much. I appreciate all of your comments
[33:43] and that you're enjoying the series. We will be back Friday with yours truly,
[33:47] Johnny Dollar, and join us back here next Thursday for another episode of
[33:52] Nick Carter. In the meantime, send your comments to Box thirteen at Great
[33:55] Detectives dot net, follow us on Twitter, Radio Detectives, and become one
