[1:07] we' re following us on Instagram, Facebook, tik tok, linking and
[1:10] Twitter. Chestback and coromystrata. I' ve welcomed you to a new episode
[1:14] more economics tatat your finance podcast. I' m Kimmerleck and I already work
[1:18] and you' re not going to believe us we' re in a finance
[1:21] podcast, but let' s talk about obvious most, because one of the
[1:26] questions you ask us the most when we' re at an event, when
[1:29] we take a video, the videos from the fair, well or you that
[1:32] birthday that everything. Where did they get out of those clothes, where are
[1:34] they from? Where are you from? Then of course, we need to
[1:37] talk about fashion, but obviously we didn' t come here the two of
[1:42] us, because we always advised each other. True it is clear personal of
[1:44] the best. And we have Maria Calderón here, who is a Dominican designer
[1:48] that we love, that is to say many of those clothes and souftfits that
[1:52] you have asked us who is, then, Marianelderón, Hello, Maria Hello,
[1:56] welcome. Thank you for inviting me. Maria, you' re very
[2:01] young. That you' re twenty- two or not Tyler' s,
[2:09] you' ve started it since you were seventeen Wowow. With what you started
[2:12] with the line, with the same brand, I mean, it would always
[2:15] be the same Maria Calderón, as I call myself. But obviously there are
[2:20] things that have changed. Maybe. Obviously, the designs also mature. Yeah,
[2:24] for example, we have a store. Obviously I didn' t already
[2:29] have my own workshop clear and you always knew what I wanted to do.
[2:34] I always knew that it was going to be something creative and that it was
[2:38] going to lean more on the fashion side. I mean, for example,
[2:40] my dad always says that he thought I was going to that model. Then,
[2:45] later, as I was very young, I always leaned down that side,
[2:49] I was like taking courses from very young in chabono or taking courses by
[2:53] intern and stuff like that. So, already, when I was at eleven,
[2:58] I decided to launch as the brand that started with a collection of just
[3:02] croptops and already obvious, it was growing. You were in school, yes
[3:07] of but visionary and I really understood myself and I was already making you blues
[3:12] to a mark at seventeen in eleven well, and Maria, what has been
[3:19] the hardest thing about you being an undertaker. Well, what happens is that
[3:24] I tell you what I mean, like I studied maybe at that time that
[3:30] I was studying and I kind of had the mark. At the same time
[3:35] it made me a little complicated, because it was like, okay, in
[3:37] the morning I can' t do anything about the brand because I was in
[3:40] school. Then later, in the afternoons, I dedicated it to the brand.
[3:45] Maybe it had to cost me a little late, yes, I had
[3:46] homework and stuff like that, then at the university I already did. Yeah,
[3:50] I obviously studied fashion design and at college it was the way it was,
[3:53] a little complicated. But now I think I don' t mean,
[3:59] there' s nothing I' m saying like, okay, this is challenging
[4:01] me, or this weighs me down like at the end of the day,
[4:03] when you do what you like, I feel like you don' t weigh
[4:08] anything, that' s like you' re doing what you like, so
[4:12] obviously there are things you like to do more than others, some more than
[4:15] others, but I feel like I like my days look different all over.
[4:19] So that kind of feels like in this industry the days vary a lot,
[4:26] like no day is equal to the previous financially. Speaking of how simple he
[4:30] has managed a good fashion brand what I tell you I started very young,
[4:36] I mean, I started with seventeen. I didn' t have, I
[4:41] mean, okay, I made a blouse, and obviously, everything I did
[4:45] I saw for myself, you know, that' s how much I didn
[4:48] ' t see it as letting me leave a fund, anything, that'
[4:53] s how I went to live out in a moment, so I kind of
[4:55] used the same brand money. Now I can tell you, as in the
[4:58] last year, that I was kind of more stable in that sense, because
[5:01] I feel like I already see it, as a projection into my future.
[5:06] I understand, I mean, I see it already, like it' s
[5:09] something I want to do my whole life, I want to do it in
[5:12] the long run, I want to do a lot of brand stuff to grow
[5:15] up. Then I can tell you that from a year to here is that
[5:18] I' ve been as judicious in that sense. And to a person who
[5:24] is perhaps in school or college or who is young, but wants to do
[5:28] an undertaking that you would advise him well, I would advise him. Look,
[5:34] number one, you don' t allow yourself to get out of focus
[5:42] for maybe what someone else is doing or because if you look at it,
[5:47] they copied me, so none of that kind of thing blurs it or lowers
[5:53] your spirits, I would also advise you to be highly organized, because,
[5:58] I mean, I think that in this the organization and like you having all
[6:02] your stuff up to date is the most important thing, so I think those
[6:06] two tips would be like the most important. Our mentor says who copies you
[6:10] is copying your past Look, you' re a decision maker and you'
[6:15] re always looking forward. If it were known that before, when I saw
[6:16] things like that, I would take a lot of picker copy you. Yeah,
[6:20] because sometimes they copy like I just don' t know how to change
[6:24] the color. You understand me then I caught a lot of it, I
[6:29] mean, I said like maybe they' re just copying you, because they
[6:32] know it' s selling and what they do is they make it cheaper you
[6:36] understand and they make it cheaper. Maybe, obviously, with another come exact,
[6:40] then I caught a lot of it and actually already as close people and
[6:45] loved ones told me to look if they' re copying you, because you
[6:50] ' re doing it exactly, but sometimes you' re peeing and you'
[6:54] re but sometimes you get it, I mean, sometimes you just. Yeah,
[6:55] that' s right at the beginning, but there' s a time
[7:00] when you' re slipping, you say it doesn' t end up falling
[7:02] by its own weight. I repeat, he speaks for himself is what I
[7:04] say. If he gave everything to God, Robin Sharrad says that the success
[7:09] there is on its own and that he lets karma act alone. Of course
[7:13] that' s what I' m saying, but we' re keeping it
[7:17] that they' re copying the past and it' s not clear that at
[7:20] the end of the day to see that you' re and you' re
[7:21] not going. No. There are also a lot of things that I'
[7:26] m really telling you are basic, that there' s not like I make
[7:28] a palace, you do a shovel, you copy me. They' re
[7:30] not things that are done and they' re basic, but that I'
[7:33] m telling you at the end of the day. I also think that ok
[7:34] I leave it to God. Carme exists, but there' s room for
[7:38] everyone. You understand, like me. I think everyone here, both Dominican
[7:42] Republic and abroad, has their space and is known for something and is doing
[7:46] well for something that is how I am at peace with it very well,
[7:51] yes, the light comes out for everyone, but it is as you say,
[7:56] in the end it was focused on your work. You work is or
[8:00] quality. We can tell the truth We value it very much. We love
[8:03] how you design the touch you have, the details you have and the style
[8:07] you flatten. How you define the style of your clothes look. I feel
[8:13] like my clothes ok has changed a lot, like I see it, I
[8:18] see it as the brand maturing as I mature You understand how I obviously see
[8:22] what I pulled out in school when I was in school and maybe at that
[8:24] time, that was the kind of clothes I wore. As I was dressed,
[8:31] now I see a much more mature brand. I mean, I can
[8:33] say that really right now my clientele are not people, my age is my
[8:37] clientele are people between twenty- eight and forty- five years old. You
[8:43] understand, I mean, as obviously, they' re not people my age,
[8:46] but it' s like I' ve seen myself now, I mean,
[8:48] like everything I have. I know I' d wear it. Then
[8:52] I feel like I have like a style. I do like to walk comfortable,
[8:54] like everything I' m going to make you design and sell your s
[8:58] to be comfortable, because I don' t like to wear clothes. For
[9:03] me to feel uncomfortable, because that' s reflected in your attitude. When
[9:07] your tie, that is, when you have the poet clothes and you don
[9:09] ' t feel comfortable you reflect it, then I feel that my clothes are
[9:15] extremely vesatile, comfortable is of quality, that is, I feel that it
[9:20] is for the tropics, because as I say to you, that is you
[9:24] know that I use it a lot of linen then I feel that it lends
[9:28] itself to the beach pieces, but there are things that lend themselves to your
[9:31] work events, that is, you have a closet that you can give it
[9:35] a thousand uses, take out the game, that is what we always seek
[9:41] clearly and also what you better do in terms of your entrepreneurship, that is,
[9:48] in terms of finance, for example, organizing myself more invest eventually is
[9:52] having fun. There won' t be now. I don' t want
[9:54] to mean, it' s one of my goals for this year, but
[9:58] as I tell you, we opened shop in November. So, obviously,
[10:01] what it' s like to open a store carries a lot of expenses,
[10:05] that is, I didn' t know it was carrying so much really,
[10:11] but yes and we already have the shop right there, so we' re
[10:16] already set up where we' re set right now, there we have everything.
[10:18] So, obviously, we used to cook in an outside workshop earlier.
[10:22] Now since we have our own workshop, we pay payroll, we pay everything.
[10:28] You don' t pay per piece, which is how almost everyone does
[10:31] when it starts like that it' s pretty much handled. Then what do
[10:35] I tell you to do more organizing? Arranging is an essential part of your
[10:41] business growing, because if you' re organized and you don' t know
[10:43] the numbers of good look, my cereal expenses are so much, but my
[10:50] costs are so much, and the potential that I can pull out with every
[10:54] piece or what I need to do to get to that point of balance is
[10:58] so much, because it goes down to living blindly. So, if it
[11:00] ' s so much, have that organization and not just a fashion brand.
[11:03] We' re talking about all kinds of entrepreneurship, in a horrid aha exactly
[11:09] a home even for an event that you' re going to do. Your
[11:11] side knows the things that involve expenses and what you need to generate to cover
[11:18] those expenses and have excellent. I mean, we' re waiting for a
[11:22] financial doctor' s office, the financial story coming up on Julia' s
[11:28] 13th and we have surprises there in the prea venantena for entr damas. Here,
[11:31] in this episode, no one has noticed yet. Well, Maria,
[11:37] how we' ve been heard we love your brand and that' s why
[11:43] we decided last year to approach you yes to make a clear collaboration, because
[11:50] as we saw the opportunity that people aren' t all the time, we
[11:52] were asked, but where are those clothes from, but that I want to
[11:56] buy them in a moment like some clothes what you or. Yeah, years
[12:01] ago I' m clear, no. We designed not to say it would
[12:05] be like bowl Yes, we do have creative clothes with parta, it'
[12:09] s true. But yeah, yeah, there, yeah, yeah, yeah?
[12:13] That mind is still there, yeah, yeah, yeah. So,
[12:16] well, as so many people have asked us, we gave you know what
[12:20] we are going to do a line, a collection with some Dominican designer that
[12:26] we like so that people can also acquire first very nice pieces, quality pieces,
[12:31] but also that has a little bit of our tens knows that we always
[12:35] when we go to buy clothes, is visualizing look at these clothes. I
[12:37] can' t put for this, for this, for this, and it
[12:41] ' s not that I' m going to look, because many people are
[12:43] also confused and say look at my tatas. Obviously, you have to buy
[12:46] clothes is extremely cheap. No, no, no, we' re pro
[12:50] ah sure expect totality that you can use it a lot, that you can
[12:56] get a lot out of it. I find it' s something that'
[12:56] s going to last you in the long run. I mean, I don
[12:58] ' t buy disposable stuff that I know. I mean, I don'
[13:05] t use my pieces much either, but people think that I walk with my
[13:09] pieces every day I want to, but, unfortunately, it' s my
[13:13] job, what I do, I can' t walk pretty normally. If
[13:18] I' m going to test a YouTube client at End Jeans and It Fisher,
[13:22] I mean, no, I can get a set or not. Taco
[13:24] or not, but that' s why you guys kind of walk like that
[13:30] in your day to day. We decided to create these pieces. If we
[13:35] create a brand in collaboration or Maria Carón that they take out because they take
[13:41] off their sleeves, they remove the bottom part, you can use it for
[13:43] your job, but you can use it for birthday with your ninja is for
[13:46] the scoundrel and you are stopping it my afternoon all can put on the exact
[13:52] moon Friday. That basically we did this brainstorming and we created this brand in
[13:58] economic set with María Calderón, in order to be able to bring multifunctional,
[14:03] beautiful pieces of quality that you can use for different environments, different hours of
[14:09] the day and that you can even transform the pieces and move from a long
[14:13] sleeve shirt to a short sleeve shirt, from a middle dress to a shorter
[14:18] dress, from a spectacular beautiful shovel, as you know to do ah I
[14:22] will have fashion you understand from going from a very cool skirt to a video.
[14:26] So, gentlemen, with a few pieces we' re putting together a
[14:31] lot of soutfits over fifty opis over fifty opis over fifty, so imagine,
[14:37] so we don' t put you out anymore in Huwils, that' s
[14:39] us pooping a piece of what, that is, what are all the forms
[14:43] that can be put mari ok. Let' s do it like this,
[14:45] let' s look for all the way one can vary to the long-
[14:48] sleeved shirt, a short sleeve or sleeve nothing or bell sleeve exactly that is
[14:54] and short and long sleeves exactly with the pants or with the bermuda that means
[15:01] you queue yes, but the truth is that there is a lot to choose
[15:05] from. It' s a brand that totally reflects us and your three-
[15:09] year mark is totally part of us, we, every time we talk to
[15:15] you look we need this because it' s that we identify ourselves. One
[15:18] hundred percent me or as you design and we are extremely happy to have been
[15:24] able to create this brand as a whole. It is lin together so that
[15:26] people can also have a little bit of because our taste what we would use.
[15:33] One hundred percent that we' re going to have the whole collection,
[15:37] obviously clear and that they can equally have it in their homes and the colors
[15:41] that faborest you most from the palette that we have. Not only do we
[15:46] have the colors that are going to come out at the beginning, that is,
[15:50] if not people can choose from the palette that we are going to have
[15:54] the colors and combinations that they want. It' s a totally diversified portfolio.
[15:58] Gentlemen, yes, and well if you are seeing us in the Chamber,
[16:03] then look here a little bit of what is coming. Here we have
[16:08] a prouptop there will be a beautiful one that comes in different colors. Look
[16:15] at this cami and the shirts we' re wearing in short sleeves now,
[16:18] but they also come in long sleeves and also long sleeves. It' s
[16:26] a long cut right here, that' s for real. There' s
[16:30] really a lot of options. I think we' re going to have to
[16:32] make a real with all those saints who are so literal fifty or but yes,
[16:40] so they already know what they' re coming for them to be attentive
[16:45] and we' re going to have this line of clothes also at the financial
[16:49] fair so that right there they can see how to play and with the middle
[16:53] subjects we' re going to have pieces, obviously, exclusive combinations, maybe
[16:59] they don' t go to the exact beginning, or so they don'
[17:04] t understand and buy the exact fair so they have clear variety and for the
[17:07] t know what to give away after a business business so we already solved the
[17:07] gift of clear mothers, so they were already. Gentlemen, you didn'
[17:14] gift not only for a financial medical appointment, but also for something you can
[17:18] touch. Yes, yes, also at the fair you will be able to
[17:22] find it on Saturday July 13th at the Intercontinental Hotel, so you can try
[17:26] it there, maybe there are many people who like to try it and maybe
[17:30] it doesn' t give you time to go to the store from Monday to
[17:33] Friday that day that is Saturday, you can also take advantage. Yeah,
[17:37] for us, investing in your image is part of investing, that is,
[17:41] it' s a season, it' s not an expense, it'
[17:45] s part of achieving success. Point stops already you have to be well dressed
[17:48] to reach success. It' s not that it' s the first impression,
[17:52] that' s how you look when you go to a job interview,
[17:56] that' s you do it in huri and jing. No. No,
[17:59] no, no. And I also mean, it' s not just like
[18:03] I' m looking, not because maybe a lot of people are going that
[18:07] way, but I feel very clear, comfortable, I feel represented, that
[18:12] is, I represent quality, I represent education, I represent finance. So,
[18:17] of course, I have to be like an impresente myself, of course,
[18:19] like I feel good, then nothing. This line comes to supply all
[18:23] that and I' m sure you' re gonna love it, so then
[18:29] you feed us back. And Mari, thank you so much for accompanying him.
[18:33] You can' t find yourself, Mari, they can find me as
[18:38] Maria Calderón mc the brand and we' re at José Andrés. There are
[18:42] boats. Number twenty. There' s number one- twenty. Sorry.
[18:45] There' s the excellent shop. Well, you know, you already have
[18:49] here the gift of moms or the gift to this as you as well clear
[18:55] to you that yes for you that you have a lot of trouble earning your
[18:59] money, you also have your gift, so you already know tell us and
[19:04] send us photos and videos with your fifty outfied us IgA and slam us,
[19:10] so either we leave in the next episode Chao
