[0:00] Speaker 1: Calling all my sweeties to the forefront. I'm your host,
[0:03] Speaker 1: Christoph and this is the Keeping Positive Sweetish Show. Hey, sweeties.
[0:12] Speaker 1: In this season, I have been so blessed to have
[0:14] Speaker 1: conversations with people who I've been impacted by, people who
[0:18] Speaker 1: have grown up watching and admiring. And today is truly
[0:21] Speaker 1: going to be special. My guest today is a wife, mom, artist, actress, philanthropists,
[0:28] Speaker 1: just to name a few, kid's family. Please give a
[0:31] Speaker 1: very warm Atlanta Welcome to Sierra.
[0:34] Speaker 2: Hey, how are you amazing?
[0:37] Speaker 1: You look amazing. Thank you so much to thank you
[0:40] Speaker 1: and thank you for coming.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, let me just say, in all my
[0:44] Speaker 2: years that I've done interviews, I have never seen what
[0:48] Speaker 2: I just saw happen before we start our interview with
[0:50] Speaker 2: JB praying before an interview. Yes, that is amazing.
[0:54] Speaker 1: Listen, we keep God first and everything.
[0:56] Speaker 2: Amen. Yes, I love it.
[0:58] Speaker 1: Thank you. No, that's that's one of the things in
[0:59] Speaker 1: every thing we do, we always make sure we pray.
[1:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the best way to kick off the day.
[1:02] Speaker 1: It is, no for sure. So I want to start
[1:06] Speaker 1: with a little story time. So just a month ago,
[1:08] Speaker 1: two months ago, the top of June BT Awards, we
[1:11] Speaker 1: were a BT Media house and they're like, Sierra's coming,
[1:15] Speaker 1: We're gonna get you an interview with her. I was like,
[1:16] Speaker 1: oh my goodness, Sierra is coming, so we see you come.
[1:19] Speaker 1: My little booth is right next to Angie Martinez's door,
[1:23] Speaker 1: so I was like, all right, guys, I'm not taking
[1:24] Speaker 1: any interviews. So like as soon as she comes out
[1:26] Speaker 1: the door, we're gonna grab her. So you come out
[1:29] Speaker 1: and they're like, she has to go to another interview
[1:31] Speaker 1: and I got a quick picture with you and it
[1:33] Speaker 1: was so cute. Actually, Drea shot that. It was a
[1:35] Speaker 1: really beautiful picture of us. And I was like, it's okay,
[1:38] Speaker 1: we're gonna It's something else is gonna happen. God has
[1:40] Speaker 1: something better in store. And I really wanted to interview
[1:42] Speaker 1: that day, and now I have you here, and that's
[1:44] Speaker 1: just how God works. So I was like I always
[1:46] Speaker 1: be looking out. I was like, come on, come on
[1:51] Speaker 1: your hometown. Yeah, this is I love it and Kaya
[1:54] Speaker 1: and depotated hit me and Kay was like yes, yes.
[1:57] Speaker 1: She was like you got to get here, like y'all
[1:59] Speaker 1: are perfect for each other, y'all have the same brand.
[2:02] Speaker 1: She loves God, you love God. She's like she's so
[2:04] Speaker 1: positive it'd be perfect. And then denvill has hit me
[2:06] Speaker 1: and she was like, we're gonna do it, and I'm like, yeah, no, Lie.
[2:10] Speaker 1: Before you came in, They're like, are you nervous?
[2:12] Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, no, it's amazing, man.
[2:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, but she has so much going on. You are busy.
[2:20] Speaker 1: You just had the second you opened your second you
[2:24] Speaker 1: had your second annual Sierra Day, and then you opened
[2:27] Speaker 1: your second why not Center?
[2:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like, no, it's amazing. So technically it's my
[2:34] Speaker 2: first time actually celebrating this holiday or this special day
[2:38] Speaker 2: that the state and the city, you know, granted me.
[2:43] Speaker 2: And I got to give thanks to Flana Williams because
[2:46] Speaker 2: she really spearheaded that. And I've noticed since I was
[2:48] Speaker 2: a baby at one point in time. She's my manager really,
[2:50] Speaker 2: like she's known me since I was like literally when
[2:52] Speaker 2: I got signed to Aristis, she was a sign of
[2:54] Speaker 2: my project. Wow, so twenty plus years ago, because twenty
[2:58] Speaker 2: one years ago my album Goodies came out, so war
[3:00] Speaker 2: that came out, So I know I was like sixteen
[3:02] Speaker 2: wo or fourteen, fourteen, fifteen, anywhere somewhere in that place.
[3:07] Speaker 2: Fifteen to sixteen. That's when I met her, and so no,
[3:11] Speaker 2: it was amazing because Russ and I we've always had
[3:14] Speaker 2: a vision with our wy Not You Foundation, and we
[3:18] Speaker 2: have a big vision to do a few things right,
[3:22] Speaker 2: and one of those things where to create centers for kids. Yes,
[3:25] Speaker 2: and we've been very fortunate in our partnership with the
[3:27] Speaker 2: Boys and Girls Club that we're able to put why
[3:30] Speaker 2: not You Centers and boys and some of the Boys
[3:32] Speaker 2: and Girls clubs. We start off in Pittsburgh last year,
[3:35] Speaker 2: and then we both said that we have to make
[3:36] Speaker 2: sure we have the why not You Centers in the
[3:38] Speaker 2: places where we came from. Absolutely, because I mean, for me,
[3:41] Speaker 2: you know, I've always wanted to get back to my
[3:43] Speaker 2: city because I feel like the city has given me
[3:45] Speaker 2: so much, and you know this Atlanta is the city
[3:48] Speaker 2: that made me, you know, so my like next tier
[3:51] Speaker 2: of like growth and like leveling up is like giving
[3:54] Speaker 2: back in my hometown. So yesterday was just the start
[3:57] Speaker 2: of that on Sierra Day, and it was to me,
[4:01] Speaker 2: it was the best way to kick off a day
[4:02] Speaker 2: like that, Like I really want, you know, every time
[4:05] Speaker 2: that I get a chance to celebrate this day, I
[4:09] Speaker 2: want to make it a day of impact. And it
[4:11] Speaker 2: was so sweet you know, giving the kids at the
[4:14] Speaker 2: Boys and Girls Club or why not you Center and
[4:17] Speaker 2: dance Hall, and you know, there was the dancers that
[4:20] Speaker 2: came there and they were the first months to dance
[4:22] Speaker 2: in that space, and all the kids that go to
[4:24] Speaker 2: the Boys and Girls Club. It was just so much
[4:27] Speaker 2: great energy. It was so beautiful. Like I was so
[4:30] Speaker 2: touched and moved and just so thankful to God that
[4:34] Speaker 2: we can do stuff like that. Yeah, I want to
[4:37] Speaker 2: do more and more of it. So that was beautiful.
[4:39] Speaker 1: That's amazing. You mentioned impact and that is actually the
[4:42] Speaker 1: whole theme of this season for the podcast, because we
[4:46] Speaker 1: inspire people, but what impacts are we leaving? So I
[4:48] Speaker 1: love that you are literally putting action behind your words
[4:51] Speaker 1: and doing that. That's so dope.
[4:53] Speaker 2: And I love that.
[4:54] Speaker 1: You also have a new album coming out entitled CC,
[4:57] Speaker 1: a new single with Lotto. So what you're having an
[5:02] Speaker 1: album called Cierra. What was the emphasis of CC?
[5:06] Speaker 2: Now, Well, you know it's my nickname and a lot
[5:10] Speaker 2: of my fans have called me CC over the years. Yes,
[5:14] Speaker 2: and my family obviously calls me CC. And I feel
[5:16] Speaker 2: like when someone calls you by your nickname is personal. Yes,
[5:19] Speaker 2: And so I just I have a special connection with
[5:22] Speaker 2: my fans, and my fans are really the reason why
[5:25] Speaker 2: I am where I am today, you know, especially being
[5:28] Speaker 2: an independent artist and running my own label, that is
[5:31] Speaker 2: the most vulnerable place you can be in and you
[5:33] Speaker 2: really don't know what's going to be like in those
[5:35] Speaker 2: independent waters. And my fans have showed me the power
[5:40] Speaker 2: of you know, who they are and what they mean,
[5:43] Speaker 2: and our relationship dynamic. You know. When I kicked off
[5:47] Speaker 2: Level Up and within one click of a button, you know,
[5:50] Speaker 2: my song was crazy viral. Yes, and it's one of
[5:54] Speaker 2: my most viewed videos to date, and I'm so proud
[5:57] Speaker 2: because it's mine, Like I own that side, own the master. Yeah.
[6:02] Speaker 2: So on this album, I just really want to It's
[6:06] Speaker 2: like the chapter and season of gratitude for me. I
[6:09] Speaker 2: kind of live my life in chapters, you know, sometimes
[6:11] Speaker 2: you have transitional chapters. Sometimes you just have, you know,
[6:15] Speaker 2: I just have. I just do life and chapters. So
[6:17] Speaker 2: this is the chapter of gratitude for me. I love
[6:19] Speaker 2: that and I just wanted to simply say thank you
[6:21] Speaker 2: to my fans. And I also had been when I
[6:24] Speaker 2: started this project. It was in the form of an
[6:25] Speaker 2: EP and there's songs like how We Roll on there
[6:29] Speaker 2: and ecstasy. They've gotten a little taste of d you know.
[6:33] Speaker 2: But I had been also what's up with feature and
[6:35] Speaker 2: buster rhymes? So I've been putting out songs like that.
[6:38] Speaker 2: But I've been putting out songs along the way, and
[6:41] Speaker 2: it's like, okay, let me just stop giving them one
[6:43] Speaker 2: by one. Let me just give them this body of work.
[6:44] Speaker 2: And I have these amazing songs that I've been sitting
[6:47] Speaker 2: on and also creating, and now it's time to complete
[6:50] Speaker 2: the whole project. So I'm super excited about this album.
[6:55] Speaker 2: It's a lot of energy, a lot of fun. My
[6:58] Speaker 2: goal is always to make the worlds yeah, and to
[7:01] Speaker 2: hopefully give inspiration where there is in love, where there
[7:05] Speaker 2: is in life in general war they just want to
[7:07] Speaker 2: feel good and just like have fun like all that's
[7:10] Speaker 2: on there. Yeah.
[7:11] Speaker 1: I love that you talked about ownership in owning your
[7:15] Speaker 1: your masters and owning the song when you were actually
[7:18] Speaker 1: in the studio doing level of did you realize like
[7:21] Speaker 1: that you really had a hit and it was like
[7:23] Speaker 1: this is gonna go? Did you know instantly?
[7:25] Speaker 2: I knew. I knew the song was a smash. I
[7:28] Speaker 2: really believed in it. It's funny because I was pregnant
[7:30] Speaker 2: as all get out with my daughter Sienna, like the
[7:32] Speaker 2: story of my life, Like I was pregnant. Yeah, uh well,
[7:36] Speaker 2: a lot of great things happen when I'm pregnant. Apparently,
[7:40] Speaker 2: absolutely No. I remember I had I was carrying Sienna
[7:43] Speaker 2: and jamming out with my friend Taran Eve. Yeah, who
[7:47] Speaker 2: doesn't love to run?
[7:49] Speaker 1: Run so amazing?
[7:51] Speaker 2: What's a gun?
[7:52] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[7:53] Speaker 2: But Tran, you know, we've known each other for years.
[7:55] Speaker 2: We've had great success together. Yeah. And he and I
[7:58] Speaker 2: were in the studio and I was like he had
[8:02] Speaker 2: said to me. He was like, CEC, there's this song
[8:05] Speaker 2: is like going crazy in the club. It's called it Up.
[8:08] Speaker 2: I don't like person, but he was like it's the
[8:11] Speaker 2: ef it Up Challenge and it's just like going crazy.
[8:13] Speaker 2: And I'm like, He's like, I want to play it
[8:15] Speaker 2: for you because I think it'd be super cool. So
[8:17] Speaker 2: he plays it for me. He's like, you know, to
[8:19] Speaker 2: be a good inspiration. And I was like he's playing
[8:21] Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh, that's a vibe. And then I
[8:23] Speaker 2: started saying like level up, level up. But I knew
[8:26] Speaker 2: at that point when we were creating the record, I
[8:27] Speaker 2: wanted energy and I wanted to inspire through the song.
[8:31] Speaker 2: But I was very intentional about every line, like we
[8:33] Speaker 2: really walked through every line together to make sure that
[8:36] Speaker 2: like every detail was buttoned up and really helping us
[8:40] Speaker 2: tell the story because that was the place that I
[8:42] Speaker 2: was in. But I knew when we finished that song
[8:45] Speaker 2: that it was special, to the point that when I
[8:49] Speaker 2: went to the label that I was signed with at
[8:51] Speaker 2: the time, because I was in a traditional label, a
[8:53] Speaker 2: traditional deal at that time, I went to the and
[8:56] Speaker 2: it was a new CEO I had to represent to,
[8:58] Speaker 2: which is never fun, but you're still optimistic. So I
[9:02] Speaker 2: went to present to him and I'm like, there's a
[9:05] Speaker 2: song I have or this is a song I have
[9:06] Speaker 2: called Level Up. This is the visual I had the
[9:08] Speaker 2: visual as well that I had. Yeah, I said like
[9:13] Speaker 2: this is like I think this song's gonna be the next,
[9:15] Speaker 2: you know, big song for me, blah blah blah, and
[9:17] Speaker 2: he literally looked at me and was kind of like
[9:19] Speaker 2: it just fell on like deaf ears, like flat like
[9:21] Speaker 2: he just was like like okay, like very like just tonal,
[9:25] Speaker 2: like you know, flat tone, and he didn't see what
[9:29] Speaker 2: I saw, and that was like unfortunate in that moment,
[9:32] Speaker 2: but it was like one of the biggest blessings in
[9:34] Speaker 2: my life because literally, like that one day I had
[9:38] Speaker 2: was like one of the most unfortunate days, but the
[9:40] Speaker 2: next day was one of the best days because I
[9:42] Speaker 2: decided I'm going to start my label. But I knew
[9:45] Speaker 2: that that song was special. And I've had moments in
[9:48] Speaker 2: my life and in my career from the very beginning,
[9:51] Speaker 2: whether it was Goodies or One two Step or just
[9:54] Speaker 2: certain songs, I'm like, this is going to be the song,
[9:58] Speaker 2: And in most cases, I've been right when I felt that.
[10:01] Speaker 2: So I did believe in the record.
[10:02] Speaker 1: I love that in that moment when you're in that
[10:04] Speaker 1: conference room or in his office, what did it feel
[10:07] Speaker 1: like to be Sierra, the acclaimed artist that you are,
[10:10] Speaker 1: and for someone still not to believe.
[10:12] Speaker 2: And be like, oh my gosh. You know you know
[10:15] Speaker 2: what it does? It like helps you, Like, it motivates
[10:18] Speaker 2: me when people do that, you know, like I feel like, okay,
[10:21] Speaker 2: like you you're gonna wish that. You wouldn't have said no, absolutely, yeah,
[10:26] Speaker 2: you know that you're gonna wish that. So it really
[10:29] Speaker 2: motivates me. You know when that happens, and it's life like,
[10:33] Speaker 2: it's perspective. I think some of the best of the
[10:35] Speaker 2: best are always gonna get someone's gonna try to knock
[10:39] Speaker 2: the best of the best down, you know, And that
[10:41] Speaker 2: motivates me too. When I see people that that inspire
[10:43] Speaker 2: me and I see how they persevere through people saying
[10:46] Speaker 2: you can't yes, you know, or saying it's not possible.
[10:49] Speaker 2: It's like, Okay, we're gonna find a way to make
[10:50] Speaker 2: the impossible possible. Like that's always my mentality. But I
[10:54] Speaker 2: really believe that's why I always tell people, you have
[10:56] Speaker 2: to believe in yourself, you know, because if I didn't
[10:59] Speaker 2: believe in myself in that, I would have been so
[11:01] Speaker 2: discouraged and I would have given up. And you know,
[11:03] Speaker 2: I also say proudly like at that time, it was
[11:07] Speaker 2: like I really became a big girl, Like I became
[11:09] Speaker 2: a big girl really young in this industry because you
[11:11] Speaker 2: have to be. But I really was like I felt
[11:14] Speaker 2: so vulnerable. I'm like, oh my gosh, like I don't
[11:16] Speaker 2: have this big system that I'm used to being in,
[11:18] Speaker 2: Like what's that going to be like? But you know,
[11:21] Speaker 2: like I said, it's one of the greatest blessings in
[11:23] Speaker 2: my life and in my career, and I feel more
[11:25] Speaker 2: empowered than ever. And the funniest thing of all of
[11:29] Speaker 2: that is that when I had, you know, when we
[11:31] Speaker 2: weren't seeing eye to eye, I asked for my master's
[11:34] Speaker 2: back and he gave it back to me for free.
[11:38] Speaker 2: Like that's how you know, he didn't believe. But it's like, okay, God,
[11:42] Speaker 2: you got me, Like I'm gona trust this thing. And
[11:45] Speaker 2: I'm like, thank you because i'd have Ethos costs right exactly.
[11:50] Speaker 2: Thank you so much. That's the one thing he did
[11:52] Speaker 2: do you know, But yeah, no, it's it motivates me
[11:56] Speaker 2: though when that happens, and yeah, it's it's a good
[12:00] Speaker 2: things sometimes when it happens.
[12:01] Speaker 1: No, absolutely going back to goodies like Young Sierra to
[12:06] Speaker 1: having your own label now and it's Beauty Marks Entertainment. Yeah,
[12:09] Speaker 1: I absolutely love that.
[12:10] Speaker 2: It's amazing.
[12:12] Speaker 1: What are some of the lessons that you learn to
[12:14] Speaker 1: get to the point where you're like, you know what
[12:16] Speaker 1: I need to start my own label?
[12:18] Speaker 2: Well, I think the greatest thing is numbers. Like I'll
[12:21] Speaker 2: just keep it simple. It's numbers, and it's the ability
[12:24] Speaker 2: to create you know, how you want to and when
[12:27] Speaker 2: you want to. Like the way that we get to
[12:29] Speaker 2: flow right now is so fun because if I have
[12:31] Speaker 2: an idea, I can express it right away. If I
[12:34] Speaker 2: want to, you know, share something with my fans right away,
[12:37] Speaker 2: I can click the button versus having to go through
[12:38] Speaker 2: a whole like process of you know, approvals, because not
[12:43] Speaker 2: everyone's gonnap prove They're not gonna like what you're doing.
[12:46] Speaker 2: They're not gonna prove it. And honestly, at points, I
[12:48] Speaker 2: was investing into myself, but I wasn't reaping the full
[12:51] Speaker 2: benefit because of the back end part of it. And
[12:55] Speaker 2: that is real. Like I you know, when you're young
[12:58] Speaker 2: and you like, I'm living my dream. I'm getting to like,
[13:01] Speaker 2: you know, do this thing I've always wanted to do.
[13:04] Speaker 2: You don't think about that stuff. And then what happens
[13:07] Speaker 2: is when you're like, you're like, you get to do
[13:10] Speaker 2: a number check and you're like, wait, I thought that
[13:13] Speaker 2: there was gonna be way more on my bank account
[13:15] Speaker 2: than that, and it's like, oh, wait, do the math.
[13:18] Speaker 2: You have to pay your manager, you have to pay
[13:20] Speaker 2: your accounts, and you have to pay your lawyer, you
[13:23] Speaker 2: have to pay you know, all your invoices, you know
[13:26] Speaker 2: all those things, and then you have to do taxes.
[13:29] Speaker 2: And then after that you're like, wait, what they hit right,
[13:32] Speaker 2: like hold up, like wait a minute, math a math
[13:34] Speaker 2: and like something bliss in my butt. Right, I'm giving,
[13:38] Speaker 2: I'm sacrificing so much, and but I'm not seeing the
[13:43] Speaker 2: full benefits of my labor. And that that's real, like
[13:46] Speaker 2: and that's what really moted me for the chapter again, chapters,
[13:50] Speaker 2: yes of ownership. Ownership became significant for me because that's
[13:55] Speaker 2: where you know, to me, your true financial and wealth
[13:59] Speaker 2: success is on the finance, on the economic side of life. Yes,
[14:02] Speaker 2: you know, so that matters, like you know, I hope
[14:06] Speaker 2: you know, you know when I look back years later,
[14:09] Speaker 2: because legacy is everything, right, that's the one thing that
[14:12] Speaker 2: I really work hard to protect. And and again, like
[14:16] Speaker 2: when you're labeled, sometimes they don't have the same passion
[14:18] Speaker 2: to protect your legacy like you do, right, And so
[14:21] Speaker 2: that's important for me. But I hope that I can
[14:24] Speaker 2: also do something that hasn't been done even within my
[14:29] Speaker 2: own family. Legacy, right is the extension of wealth for
[14:32] Speaker 2: our for our babies, right, you know. And that's like
[14:36] Speaker 2: my mentality, like I'm working hard for that. I'm working hard.
[14:40] Speaker 2: So when I'm in a certain place in my life,
[14:42] Speaker 2: I'm gonna say mid fifties. I ain't got to hit
[14:44] Speaker 2: that matrix now up unless I won't do you know
[14:46] Speaker 2: what I'm saying, I won't hit the maxus to the
[14:48] Speaker 2: make okay. And you know, like so like what are
[14:51] Speaker 2: we working for? Right? It's like I got goals that
[14:54] Speaker 2: I'm trying to get to you. And at some point
[14:56] Speaker 2: you want to work you know, smarter, not harder. Yes,
[14:59] Speaker 2: that's real. The you know, big part of my like
[15:02] Speaker 2: baseline perspective on how I approach business and and and
[15:07] Speaker 2: life in general. So it was a combination of all
[15:11] Speaker 2: those things that motivated me. And I'm so glad that
[15:14] Speaker 2: I took the risk and allowed myself to be uncomfortable.
[15:20] Speaker 2: And you know, I'll never look back.
[15:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that. I love that. From the outside
[15:26] Speaker 1: looking and you talk about somewhere in your fifties you
[15:29] Speaker 1: won't have to make. You can pick and cheese when
[15:30] Speaker 1: you do the matrix, Which is so funny from the
[15:33] Speaker 1: outside looking in, most people look at you and like
[15:36] Speaker 1: why is she still going so hard? You know, because
[15:38] Speaker 1: you got it made in the shade looking like she
[15:40] Speaker 1: got the husbands, she got the beautiful children. You know.
[15:43] Speaker 1: It's like some women would just be like Yep, I'm done.
[15:46] Speaker 1: I'm just gonna take care of these babies. But you
[15:49] Speaker 1: still go, what is that push besides the legacy that
[15:52] Speaker 1: keeps you going?
[15:53] Speaker 2: It's my passion for what I do. I love being
[15:56] Speaker 2: an artist. I love performing. I love traveling the world
[16:01] Speaker 2: and you know, meeting my fans and meeting new people
[16:04] Speaker 2: and you know, learning different languages, and you know, I
[16:08] Speaker 2: have an appreciation for what God has blessed me to do,
[16:12] Speaker 2: and that is to be an artist and plus all
[16:14] Speaker 2: the other things that you know that I'm fortunate to
[16:18] Speaker 2: be a part of. It's that like heartbeat. It's like
[16:22] Speaker 2: that that that beat like it's a it's a it's
[16:25] Speaker 2: a beat that that's like it's like what is it
[16:28] Speaker 2: like to the beat of your own drum? Like it's
[16:30] Speaker 2: a it's a drum pattern that I feel like the
[16:32] Speaker 2: things that I'm doing like it's feeding me, Like it's
[16:36] Speaker 2: like music movement within itself, you know. And so those
[16:40] Speaker 2: are the things that I love doing. They fill my cup.
[16:43] Speaker 2: They are part of my identity, right and so I'm
[16:47] Speaker 2: I'm so so blessed, like I'm not gonna you know,
[16:50] Speaker 2: front like it's a blessing that I get to wake
[16:52] Speaker 2: up every day knowing that I'm doing exactly what I
[16:54] Speaker 2: want to do. Like if that's something I could wish
[16:56] Speaker 2: for every person in this world or anyone, is that
[17:00] Speaker 2: I want to do what you love because the truth
[17:02] Speaker 2: is that when you do what you love, you never
[17:03] Speaker 2: work a day in your life. And or if that's
[17:06] Speaker 2: how it feels, and I think it's like i CC
[17:10] Speaker 2: sets goals like I set goals and I'm trying to
[17:13] Speaker 2: achieve those goals So that's a big part of my
[17:14] Speaker 2: motivation too, right, And I just feel more empowered, you know,
[17:19] Speaker 2: the little more I played in life, Like I love that,
[17:23] Speaker 2: you know, I get to go from the stage to
[17:26] Speaker 2: the classroom with my babies. Literally I was performing in London.
[17:31] Speaker 2: It was like, I don't know, almost thirty thousand people,
[17:34] Speaker 2: and I mean that was like insane love that London
[17:37] Speaker 2: showed me was amazing. But literally the next day or
[17:40] Speaker 2: like the after I left London, I was humbled and
[17:42] Speaker 2: I was in that classroom like, Okay, what do I
[17:44] Speaker 2: need for the kids? They need this, this and this
[17:45] Speaker 2: and this. Wow, you know, and then Russ has football.
[17:48] Speaker 2: I like being there for him, Like these are blessings,
[17:52] Speaker 2: all of them are blessings. Like I said, I was like, listen,
[17:55] Speaker 2: we ain't stressed out, we blessed out. It's perspective, you know.
[18:00] Speaker 2: But I just love what I do and it's big
[18:03] Speaker 2: part of my identity. And I think that as women especially,
[18:06] Speaker 2: you know, you have to fill your cup. You have
[18:09] Speaker 2: to do things that you know that that feeds you
[18:12] Speaker 2: what you need. And these things feed me. Yes.
[18:15] Speaker 1: Now, is there anything else like in your downtime? Because
[18:17] Speaker 1: you have so many things going on. You're an artist,
[18:20] Speaker 1: you're an entrepreneur, you have skincare line, you have a
[18:23] Speaker 1: spirits line, you have so many different things that you
[18:25] Speaker 1: that you have your hands in. How do you balance
[18:28] Speaker 1: it all with the children and then taking time for Sierra?
[18:31] Speaker 1: What do those moments look like when you're like, Okay,
[18:32] Speaker 1: this is my time or do you even get that?
[18:34] Speaker 2: So I'm actually trying to master that a little better
[18:37] Speaker 2: because I do sometimes take the greatest hit within my schedule,
[18:40] Speaker 2: right and reference to like me time, But schedule is everything.
[18:44] Speaker 2: I was literally just talking to Dimples on my team
[18:46] Speaker 2: and I was saying, I want to walk through how
[18:49] Speaker 2: we're going to do a couple of promo days so
[18:50] Speaker 2: we can stack some things because I'm like, I got
[18:54] Speaker 2: to give myself for a little room to breathe. Yes,
[18:56] Speaker 2: but I'm so hungry.
[18:58] Speaker 1: You know.
[18:58] Speaker 2: It's the drive, like I'm hustling right now, and there's
[19:02] Speaker 2: something that's really fun about it. But also life is
[19:05] Speaker 2: important too, so I really do try to master it
[19:08] Speaker 2: by my schedule, Like I schedule, you know, whether it's
[19:12] Speaker 2: like and again, sometimes you go off the beating path,
[19:15] Speaker 2: but it may be like these four hours or my
[19:17] Speaker 2: time with my kids. Yes, okay, then after that I
[19:19] Speaker 2: have two calls, and then after that I go do
[19:23] Speaker 2: you know, to the gym or and then after that
[19:26] Speaker 2: I go to date night with us. Like my days,
[19:29] Speaker 2: I get to like schedule them, even the personal time.
[19:33] Speaker 2: So that way, I'm also intentional with carving out the time.
[19:36] Speaker 2: If I don't have a schedule, then it's like we're
[19:38] Speaker 2: just kind of what they say, Willy Niely, like we
[19:40] Speaker 2: just kind of phrase stylling. And that's when it gets
[19:43] Speaker 2: really crazy because before you look up, time passes you by,
[19:47] Speaker 2: and sometimes, like you know, I do really master being
[19:50] Speaker 2: punctual with my flow, like I'm just efficient, and I'm
[19:55] Speaker 2: also looking forward to date night. I'm looking forward to
[19:59] Speaker 2: just blocks of times to put my phone down, be
[20:01] Speaker 2: with my babies, like because I have to. But I
[20:05] Speaker 2: would recommend to any mom schedules you know. Yeah, that's
[20:10] Speaker 2: like changing.
[20:11] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I don't have children, but my life is
[20:14] Speaker 1: I have to, like at nighttime, I kind of go
[20:16] Speaker 1: through everything I have to do, and then even like
[20:18] Speaker 1: the insulary things that I have to kind of pencil
[20:20] Speaker 1: in in between my mandatory things. I have to put
[20:23] Speaker 1: it all in the schedule so in the morning I
[20:24] Speaker 1: can look at and be like, Okay, got it, this
[20:27] Speaker 1: is what I got.
[20:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
[20:28] Speaker 1: It's game changing, is that structure and the intentionality of
[20:31] Speaker 1: making sure that you make time for what's important.
[20:34] Speaker 2: Yeah. And you know what I'm trying to really master.
[20:36] Speaker 2: Excuse me, I'm trying to master rest. Come on here, Yeah,
[20:42] Speaker 2: because rest is so vital. Yes, And I never knew
[20:44] Speaker 2: I needed rest until like these stages, at this stage
[20:48] Speaker 2: or in my life. We gotta get rest, you know.
[20:53] Speaker 2: Sleeping is vital for like health. I have gotten sick
[20:57] Speaker 2: twice within the shortest timeframe that I ever have. I'm like, okay, now, okay, God,
[21:04] Speaker 2: Now I hear you Lord, and then my body I
[21:06] Speaker 2: hear you body. So I need to like make sure I, like,
[21:09] Speaker 2: you know, do that too, because your body gets to recover.
[21:12] Speaker 2: Your body can like endure everything when you're grinding, you know,
[21:15] Speaker 2: trying to work on building my immune system, like all
[21:17] Speaker 2: these things are vital. So I'm really trying to like
[21:21] Speaker 2: level up my rest. I'm trying to level up like
[21:24] Speaker 2: my my immune my immunization or am I saying that right?
[21:29] Speaker 2: My immunity, like my care. Yeah, I'm trying to make
[21:32] Speaker 2: sure I'm like doing these things that are gonna also
[21:34] Speaker 2: feed me too. I really want to master like resting.
[21:37] Speaker 1: That's so good because our industry has its whole entire
[21:40] Speaker 1: sleep when you're dead, and it's like, no, you're gonna
[21:42] Speaker 1: die if you don't sleep.
[21:43] Speaker 2: But that is true. It's big facts. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
[21:48] Speaker 2: we don't want to do that.
[21:49] Speaker 1: Now, are you like a night time I know in
[21:51] Speaker 1: the studio a lot of people work better like in
[21:53] Speaker 1: the wee hours of the morning. I'm not like that.
[21:55] Speaker 1: I have to have like daytime hours when when you're recording.
[21:58] Speaker 2: When are you used to do the wee hours? Actually
[22:01] Speaker 2: did wee hours last night? This is the craziest thing.
[22:04] Speaker 2: I came from Africa. We traveled for seventeen hours I landed,
[22:09] Speaker 2: I went to go to do the Boys and Girls Club,
[22:12] Speaker 2: the why Not You centers. Then I went from there
[22:14] Speaker 2: to a podcast taping, and then I went from there
[22:18] Speaker 2: to the studio, and we were up to like almost
[22:20] Speaker 2: one o'clock in the morning. See here, two o'clock, she said,
[22:23] Speaker 2: two o'clock in the morning. So that's like an abnormal night. Okay.
[22:29] Speaker 2: But I did that again because I knew, Okay, today
[22:32] Speaker 2: I'm gonna come see you, and then I'm gonna, you know,
[22:35] Speaker 2: have the rest of my I have like a couple
[22:37] Speaker 2: more things I have to do in this day, work
[22:39] Speaker 2: work related. And then when I get home, I got
[22:42] Speaker 2: to go into mommy and also hubby WiFi mode, you know,
[22:47] Speaker 2: so I had to like I'm being strategic again, Like
[22:50] Speaker 2: my babies aren't here, Russ is working doing this thing. Okay,
[22:53] Speaker 2: now Mama can like grind it out, you know. But
[22:56] Speaker 2: normally I like to work early, so like if my
[22:59] Speaker 2: kids were at I do studio. When I was young,
[23:02] Speaker 2: I didn't do that. I worked to the wee hours.
[23:03] Speaker 2: But now it's like take the kids to school studio
[23:06] Speaker 2: at nine o'clock, which is so like crazy how life
[23:09] Speaker 2: falls like that. But I'd like to try to get
[23:12] Speaker 2: my heavy stub out the way early in the day.
[23:15] Speaker 1: That's good. It's so important. And I go, we get
[23:17] Speaker 1: so caught up in like just loving what we do
[23:20] Speaker 1: that we forget because it's like it's literally it's feeding us,
[23:22] Speaker 1: it's keeping us away, and it's like, oh, I haven't slept.
[23:25] Speaker 1: I need to eat even eat.
[23:28] Speaker 2: Yes, and I love to eat me love, Oh my gosh. Okay,
[23:34] Speaker 2: So I always sound Blexican because you know, black and Mexican.
[23:39] Speaker 2: I love Mexican food. I'm also Blazian. I love Asian food. Yes,
[23:45] Speaker 2: those will be my top two cuisines, and also Italian.
[23:48] Speaker 1: Italians my favorite it's fire, yes.
[23:50] Speaker 2: And I love carbs, like, help me, lord, I need
[23:54] Speaker 2: a mass of that too, because I swear I feel
[23:56] Speaker 2: like every meal deserves a carb and that's just not
[23:59] Speaker 2: the way to so I gotta work on that. But
[24:03] Speaker 2: I love eating. It's just it's so fun. Like eating
[24:06] Speaker 2: is like, you know, it's community, like it's you know,
[24:10] Speaker 2: it's it's just everything really. And I'm from Atlanta, you know, Yeah,
[24:16] Speaker 2: we do everything with seasoning. But yeah, but lorry's all
[24:21] Speaker 2: that stuff, you know, So it's kind of what I
[24:23] Speaker 2: how I grew up. Every Sunday was like Thanksgiving out
[24:26] Speaker 2: the church, you know, and like every other day it's
[24:28] Speaker 2: like Thanksgiving. So it's just in me. I do love food.
[24:32] Speaker 1: You love food, but your body is always tea.
[24:34] Speaker 2: How oh, thank you so much. I try. Okay, So
[24:39] Speaker 2: after my baby girl and more my last baby I have,
[24:45] Speaker 2: I still haven't gotten all the way back to my
[24:47] Speaker 2: base weight. And at one point in time, it's funny
[24:50] Speaker 2: because I weigh the same weight as Russow, so she
[24:52] Speaker 2: I gain the most with her, and it's honestly it's hard,
[24:56] Speaker 2: but I will say this. What I do try to
[24:59] Speaker 2: do is moderation. Yeah, stop when you're full, and it's hard,
[25:03] Speaker 2: like when food is good, it's hard to stop, but
[25:06] Speaker 2: moderation is key. Right. So sometimes I realized I went
[25:09] Speaker 2: a little too crazy. Let me like dial it back.
[25:12] Speaker 2: This evening, I try to eat just fish and veggies like,
[25:15] Speaker 2: but I have to literally talk to myself like, don't
[25:17] Speaker 2: do it, don't do it, don't do it, like that's
[25:19] Speaker 2: how bad it is. But it's really bad. Oh my gosh,
[25:24] Speaker 2: yeah exactly, I did it right, yeah, you know, and
[25:28] Speaker 2: also tons of water like when you're training, you know,
[25:32] Speaker 2: I did this thing with my nutrition is years ago,
[25:33] Speaker 2: and he did a body mass index calculation on me,
[25:38] Speaker 2: checking your muscle mass and like all these different things.
[25:41] Speaker 2: And he gave me like the water ratio versus like
[25:43] Speaker 2: my weight and all that stuff. So when I'm trying
[25:45] Speaker 2: to come down, like sometimes I'm drinking a gallon and
[25:48] Speaker 2: almost a half when I gained like seventy five pounds, right,
[25:52] Speaker 2: so it's like you're just being mindful of like your
[25:54] Speaker 2: water intake. Those things matter, but moderation.
[25:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're think you look up amazing, like to
[26:01] Speaker 1: wait for a baby more. I was like, this girl
[26:04] Speaker 1: looks so good, but that I knew you were thicker
[26:06] Speaker 1: than normal? Was E ever a mama where you looked
[26:09] Speaker 1: at the man and was like or were you like
[26:11] Speaker 1: I see your girl?
[26:12] Speaker 2: I gonna lie. I loved every step of the way good.
[26:14] Speaker 2: And you know what it is, I got to give
[26:16] Speaker 2: my husband some love because Russ really made me feel
[26:19] Speaker 2: even more like, Okay, I'm liking my curd. Put a
[26:22] Speaker 2: cup on it kind of babe, you know, because he
[26:26] Speaker 2: was like he tells me, and I was like, don't
[26:27] Speaker 2: you get too crazy because he likes my hips, you know,
[26:30] Speaker 2: so that makes me feel good. Right, it's like that stuff,
[26:33] Speaker 2: you know, Can I give us ladies a little okay?
[26:36] Speaker 2: And absolutely, Q okay, we can. We can appreciate these
[26:39] Speaker 2: extra little you know grips or you know rippers, whatever
[26:43] Speaker 2: you want to call it. So no, it's really sweet.
[26:48] Speaker 2: And I think there's something too about like where you
[26:51] Speaker 2: are in your life, Like I love having a little
[26:54] Speaker 2: more on me. You know, I've always been a little smaller,
[26:57] Speaker 2: but I like it. I like all the jeans me
[27:00] Speaker 2: and I'm liking it.
[27:01] Speaker 1: You look good. Yeah, no, I saw it and I
[27:03] Speaker 1: was like, sexy is looking good? Thank you? No, for sure,
[27:08] Speaker 1: you just gave props to your husband Wrussell. You guys
[27:11] Speaker 1: are a couple goals. Like everybody all the women are
[27:14] Speaker 1: praying your prayers. Oh my gosh, I was like, when
[27:17] Speaker 1: she comes out, needs her to pray over.
[27:19] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. It's such funny.
[27:22] Speaker 1: But you both have your own careers, your own lives.
[27:25] Speaker 1: How has it been managing the relationship and now having
[27:27] Speaker 1: a family, But still like you're doing your thing and
[27:30] Speaker 1: he's doing his thing. How do you guys? What are
[27:31] Speaker 1: those conversations? Like, all right, babe, we gotta how do
[27:34] Speaker 1: we keep together?
[27:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, communication is really important. And you know what's really
[27:39] Speaker 2: great is that with him doing football, his world is
[27:41] Speaker 2: more structured. Yes, my world I can kind of like
[27:45] Speaker 2: plan around his world. So that is, like you know,
[27:49] Speaker 2: I would say, is a blessing and the dynamic of
[27:51] Speaker 2: what we do. And we're just really big on like
[27:54] Speaker 2: you know, communicating like he knows my schedule, like he
[27:56] Speaker 2: tell me my schedule back. Sometimes I can even tell
[27:59] Speaker 2: it myself, you know. But we're really you know, lock
[28:02] Speaker 2: and step on that, you know, and we find ways
[28:05] Speaker 2: to stay connected even when we're a part, whether it's
[28:07] Speaker 2: like watching a show. We have a thing like you
[28:09] Speaker 2: can't watch the show without the other, right when you're
[28:13] Speaker 2: in two different places. But if we're going to do it,
[28:15] Speaker 2: we're watching it like simultaneously, like they put your computer
[28:18] Speaker 2: on you, you know, so we don't have the sound,
[28:21] Speaker 2: you know, So we'll do little things like that or
[28:23] Speaker 2: like you know, we really do work on coordinating things
[28:28] Speaker 2: as best as possible. And I think that that's like
[28:31] Speaker 2: the game changer against schedule, Like it's huge, right, so
[28:35] Speaker 2: we kind of know, Okay, I'm going to be going
[28:37] Speaker 2: these amount of days or you know, if he has
[28:39] Speaker 2: to do something same thing, but we're like mapping out
[28:42] Speaker 2: so we can like make sure it comes back to us.
[28:44] Speaker 2: Like we're very intentional, you know, even date nights, like
[28:48] Speaker 2: we do date nights every Friday when he's in the season.
[28:51] Speaker 2: And I've been a big belief like that little thing,
[28:55] Speaker 2: you know, or that I don't little, but that moment
[28:59] Speaker 2: has been like game changing for us over the years,
[29:02] Speaker 2: I think, because one, I'm always looking forward to it.
[29:05] Speaker 2: You're not forgetting to date each other. Yes, you got
[29:07] Speaker 2: to do that, right, We always talk about that. He
[29:09] Speaker 2: always says you got to always compete, you know, like
[29:12] Speaker 2: that was one of his things that he and I
[29:14] Speaker 2: like that idea because it's like searching for the beginning,
[29:18] Speaker 2: always searching for the beginning, like when we first met
[29:20] Speaker 2: up my kid. But I'm aware of it. You know,
[29:23] Speaker 2: you still want to do yeah, you know it's still
[29:27] Speaker 2: it keeps it exciting, you know. So it's it's honestly
[29:30] Speaker 2: just being intentional. I would say. That's the thing, Like
[29:33] Speaker 2: we both want our love to be as sweet and
[29:38] Speaker 2: fool as it can be, and so we're very intentional
[29:40] Speaker 2: about achieving that. Now we don't get it right all
[29:43] Speaker 2: the time, you know, but we the place that we
[29:46] Speaker 2: come from is it's the foundation is set and it's clear,
[29:50] Speaker 2: and so yeah, we're very very intentional.
[29:52] Speaker 1: I love that. And your relationship is built on the
[29:55] Speaker 1: foundation of God.
[29:56] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Us at the center.
[29:58] Speaker 1: Amen.
[29:59] Speaker 2: When we first got engaged and say, shells, he actually
[30:03] Speaker 2: the first thing that we did is we went and
[30:05] Speaker 2: we prayed, and you know, he actually initiated, you know,
[30:09] Speaker 2: the the thought of you know, having Jesus at the center.
[30:14] Speaker 2: And I really love you. I want to cry. I
[30:17] Speaker 2: don't know why I be up here crying like this.
[30:19] Speaker 2: I have been like on Ail a chapter of tears.
[30:24] Speaker 3: Let's not get crazy right now, Okay, I I really
[30:33] Speaker 3: have been like an emotional like.
[30:36] Speaker 2: Yeah it is it's gratitude, you know. But that was
[30:40] Speaker 2: really sweet and powerful to have that you know, connection
[30:46] Speaker 2: or like in that very moment, like that's the foundation
[30:50] Speaker 2: we're going to set this on. Like and it's honestly real,
[30:53] Speaker 2: Like having Jesus at the center is significant because when
[30:56] Speaker 2: man leans on man listen, that's when it gets murky.
[31:03] Speaker 2: We start trying to be like, well, I feel it's like, hey,
[31:06] Speaker 2: what does God want? You know, where is the spirit
[31:08] Speaker 2: in all this? Like, where is the you know, go
[31:11] Speaker 2: to the place of love. When we do that, like
[31:13] Speaker 2: it brings everything back down like to like the right place,
[31:18] Speaker 2: you know, so, and I think that's huge. It is,
[31:22] Speaker 2: you know, especially in our world, like it's our worlds
[31:24] Speaker 2: are crazy, like hectic and like fast moving and convenient
[31:28] Speaker 2: like you know, so it's like okay, whenever we have
[31:31] Speaker 2: a little funky something like the spirit is what brings
[31:34] Speaker 2: us back. It brings us like back to where we
[31:38] Speaker 2: need to be and it takes both right. Like we
[31:41] Speaker 2: were saying, we have certain like rules too, like the
[31:44] Speaker 2: past our pastors jud who actually officiated our wedding and
[31:49] Speaker 2: he's in one of our he's like amazing, but he,
[31:52] Speaker 2: you know, talked about like how in relationships, like you
[31:54] Speaker 2: can have an idea where you never say the D word,
[31:57] Speaker 2: like you never.
[31:58] Speaker 1: Say yeah, yeah exactly.
[32:02] Speaker 2: And then also you say you gotta be able like
[32:07] Speaker 2: when you make the mistake or you cause the turn
[32:11] Speaker 2: up or the friction, you gotta be able to say
[32:13] Speaker 2: will you forgive me? And that is hard because I'm stubborn.
[32:18] Speaker 2: I'd be like if people forgive me because I went wrong,
[32:23] Speaker 2: and then I might be wrong. It's like see her
[32:26] Speaker 2: just say it, like I'm talking about it, like just
[32:28] Speaker 2: say it. Rolling my eyes, like I don't want to
[32:31] Speaker 2: say it, just say it. You better say. You know,
[32:34] Speaker 2: it's a whole thing like that is hard they think
[32:36] Speaker 2: to be like will you forgive me? You know, but
[32:38] Speaker 2: it's like it's game changing, it is right, and we
[32:41] Speaker 2: both have that understanding. Like those little things, you know,
[32:44] Speaker 2: they're really they're really helpful.
[32:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's beautiful that you can because asking for
[32:50] Speaker 1: forgiveness is not only an humbling state, but it's also
[32:52] Speaker 1: very vulnerable to like look at yourself in the mirror
[32:56] Speaker 1: and say, wait a minute, this is me. I messed up.
[32:58] Speaker 1: And to be able to go to the person and
[32:59] Speaker 1: then that, you know, so the fact that you are
[33:02] Speaker 1: so comfortable with each other to allow each other to
[33:04] Speaker 1: see each other in that state is so beautiful.
[33:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think it. It feels good when someone
[33:08] Speaker 2: takes accountability, right, you know, you don't want.
[33:11] Speaker 1: To Breezy exactly.
[33:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, And I'll get rust credit. He does pretty
[33:16] Speaker 2: good with coming back around, Like we were saying, the
[33:18] Speaker 2: day he gets like more worked up, I get very quiet,
[33:22] Speaker 2: you know, like when he raises his voice. It's funny
[33:25] Speaker 2: because like you know, his love remind like reminds me
[33:30] Speaker 2: of like my dad's love, right, and I remember like
[33:32] Speaker 2: my dad would like reprimand me, like the tone of
[33:35] Speaker 2: the voice was just like enough to make you go, yeah,
[33:38] Speaker 2: you're just crumble. And so if he gets like about
[33:41] Speaker 2: it's like and depending on what it is, I'll be like,
[33:46] Speaker 2: you know, I just sit back where you going with this,
[33:49] Speaker 2: you know, like or I might feel like you don't
[33:52] Speaker 2: have all these different feels, you know, but like he
[33:54] Speaker 2: typically is the one that could like get a little
[33:57] Speaker 2: more turned up with me. I get quiet turned like,
[34:00] Speaker 2: you know, yeah no, but he's so you know, he's
[34:04] Speaker 2: really good about like him come back around like you know,
[34:08] Speaker 2: so I'll give him that. He does that really well. Okay,
[34:13] Speaker 2: I love you tell you.
[34:16] Speaker 1: Know, I love that is so beautiful. Now, word on
[34:20] Speaker 1: the street is that y'all started a matchmaking service.
[34:22] Speaker 2: Oh my lord, we did not start a matchmaking.
[34:26] Speaker 1: Service because we're trying to sign the people are like
[34:29] Speaker 1: we're doing we should actually like think about this thing.
[34:33] Speaker 2: Let me tell you. We love seeing our friends experience love. Yeah,
[34:39] Speaker 2: we have fun, like and we're just so blessed. We
[34:42] Speaker 2: have a really great group of friends, Like you know,
[34:45] Speaker 2: in all different parts of the world, and I for me,
[34:49] Speaker 2: like especially with my girls. I'm like, I just want
[34:51] Speaker 2: my girls to be happy, like if that's what they want, right,
[34:54] Speaker 2: you know, Like I have a I don't want to
[34:58] Speaker 2: call her out, but I have someone. I have a
[35:01] Speaker 2: dentist in my life. Oh my gosh, I'm not gonna
[35:03] Speaker 2: say her name. She was like Sierra, but like she's
[35:06] Speaker 2: so like sweet smart boss, owns her own dentist, dentistry
[35:13] Speaker 2: like business like she has. She's amazing, like great vision,
[35:16] Speaker 2: and like she's you know, single, and I'm like, Okay,
[35:19] Speaker 2: we've got to figure this out. Like so I will
[35:21] Speaker 2: be like on the search. I love it because I'm like,
[35:24] Speaker 2: she is a queen and she deserves a king. Like yes,
[35:27] Speaker 2: that's my mentality, right, So I just love trying to
[35:33] Speaker 2: help in any way that I can. We both love it.
[35:36] Speaker 2: We have been very fortunate to introduce people, and that's
[35:41] Speaker 2: the funds Cocoa and Okay, so wait we did not, Okay,
[35:46] Speaker 2: so they just assume that they Okay, so this is
[35:49] Speaker 2: what happened. What happened, Okay, So Coco and Donovan shouted
[35:52] Speaker 2: both of them, and I'm so happy for you, my girl,
[35:54] Speaker 2: Cocoa is the sweetest she is, and Donovan is so
[35:57] Speaker 2: cool and and just amazing, And Russ and don even
[36:00] Speaker 2: have their boyflow. Honestly, they've been having their whole like
[36:03] Speaker 2: boyflow for some time, like low key behind the scenes,
[36:07] Speaker 2: and I love that, Like I love how the men
[36:10] Speaker 2: connect on that kind of stuff. But basically, you know,
[36:14] Speaker 2: the fellas are over there doing their thing, Russ and Donovan.
[36:17] Speaker 2: And Russ has like he's really obviously I think he's
[36:21] Speaker 2: the best on the field, but off the field, he
[36:23] Speaker 2: has like this creative mind that runs wild with a
[36:26] Speaker 2: lot of cool ideas. So he actually has a company
[36:29] Speaker 2: West to East Lux where he's doing like providing luxury
[36:33] Speaker 2: like experiences and stuff like that. So it's his passion
[36:36] Speaker 2: for him. But basically, him and Donovan connected and all
[36:39] Speaker 2: of a sudden, I look up and like Russ is like,
[36:42] Speaker 2: we set this up, blah blah blah, Like he had
[36:44] Speaker 2: the whole like they were doing the whole thing planning
[36:46] Speaker 2: the engagement for him and Cocos. So it's just so sweet,
[36:51] Speaker 2: you know, and so we're just really happy for them.
[36:56] Speaker 2: It's so beautiful and it's just amazing, Like God's good.
[37:00] Speaker 1: He is so good. He is so good. At BT
[37:03] Speaker 1: Media House, you stopped by Jim Jones interview and he said,
[37:07] Speaker 1: you need to I think it was steal it properly. Yes,
[37:11] Speaker 1: that let me know that you love.
[37:16] Speaker 2: I was totally you know, sometimes that's just me. I
[37:21] Speaker 2: think it's my passion to just like want, you know,
[37:24] Speaker 2: the best for people and listen, you know, I don't
[37:28] Speaker 2: know them from a can of pain, but I just
[37:30] Speaker 2: remember my last memories of them and knowing that they've shared,
[37:34] Speaker 2: you know, their journey with the world. And I think
[37:37] Speaker 2: the greatest thing that we all have to remember is
[37:40] Speaker 2: that imperfect love. Like in imperfect love, that's where the
[37:45] Speaker 2: perfection is. Yeah, you know, it's like there's not a
[37:49] Speaker 2: perfect way to do love. The perfect way to do
[37:50] Speaker 2: love is just to love and the best way that
[37:52] Speaker 2: you can and to love right. And that doesn't mean
[37:56] Speaker 2: you can always get it right. And that doesn't mean
[37:58] Speaker 2: you can have the perfect story where you went through
[38:00] Speaker 2: this phase, this phase, this phase and now it's wila.
[38:03] Speaker 2: Some people go through a phase it's amazing, then it
[38:06] Speaker 2: falls flat and it comes back again, then it goes.
[38:09] Speaker 2: Everyone's love story is their own.
[38:11] Speaker 1: It is, yeah, and that's what makes it beautiful.
[38:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's no judgment in love, right, And so
[38:17] Speaker 2: I think that when I saw, you know, when I
[38:19] Speaker 2: was in that moment, I just was it was from
[38:22] Speaker 2: a place of love absolutely, you know, and just you know,
[38:25] Speaker 2: wanting uh, you know, something beautiful from my perspective, or
[38:29] Speaker 2: wanting that, you know, for the people that I've loved
[38:32] Speaker 2: watching on TV, like you know, y'all got to do this.
[38:36] Speaker 1: I was like, it's fashion properly. And I felt it
[38:40] Speaker 1: because I'm hopeless romantic, I love love, and I'm on
[38:44] Speaker 1: this new journey really being more intentional about my walk
[38:47] Speaker 1: with Christ in my Bible, and through that, God convicted
[38:50] Speaker 1: me on sex. So I stopped having sex. And because
[38:54] Speaker 1: I wanted to. I want to love the way God
[38:56] Speaker 1: intended and I wanted to do it properly. When so
[38:58] Speaker 1: when I heard you say steal it properly, I'm like, exactly, like,
[39:01] Speaker 1: because that's that was my conviction. God was like, you're
[39:03] Speaker 1: doing it wrong, Like this is not how I designed this.
[39:06] Speaker 1: I need you to trust me, and do you trust
[39:09] Speaker 1: me to bring you love the way I intended it
[39:11] Speaker 1: so that you're not continuously getting hurt?
[39:13] Speaker 2: I love that.
[39:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, So I felt that I didn't take any I
[39:16] Speaker 1: didn't read it as judgment. I was like, I'm with
[39:19] Speaker 1: her because she's all about it.
[39:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, steal it, you know. I mean I think that
[39:23] Speaker 2: we owe that to ourselves, you know, and I think
[39:26] Speaker 2: that when you know, it always hurts, like in general,
[39:30] Speaker 2: like you know, we live in this era and I
[39:32] Speaker 2: don't wanna say era because this has been like it's
[39:34] Speaker 2: just a new word that they coin it like love bombing,
[39:37] Speaker 2: you know, which is not writing because oftentimes for us
[39:40] Speaker 2: as women, excuse me, Okay, so when guys see a girl,
[39:45] Speaker 2: it's exterior first. Yes, when we see a man, it's
[39:49] Speaker 2: interior and exterior. We see you on the front, like, okay,
[39:52] Speaker 2: you look amazing, but like what is he Like, Like
[39:54] Speaker 2: we started like fantasizing and thinking about like, you know,
[39:56] Speaker 2: is he a family used to be thinking about all
[39:58] Speaker 2: of these things.
[39:58] Speaker 1: Literally instantly we're like, yeah, you map it.
[40:01] Speaker 2: Through and you you think in your mind through all
[40:04] Speaker 2: those things, and sometimes too, like a guy can mishandle
[40:08] Speaker 2: you know where we are, and that's like crushing. Feel
[40:12] Speaker 2: like you've set back, you know what I mean, Like
[40:14] Speaker 2: it's like a blowback because we're going with the right intentions,
[40:16] Speaker 2: but then a guy has different intentions and like it's like, man,
[40:20] Speaker 2: you just wasted a chunk of my life. Yeah, just
[40:22] Speaker 2: waste a chunk of my time. Like I'm I'm really rolling,
[40:25] Speaker 2: like I'm really like in this thing and you over
[40:26] Speaker 2: here kind of plan like now we're just losing a
[40:29] Speaker 2: little time.
[40:30] Speaker 1: Like what we doing? What are we doing?
[40:32] Speaker 2: But I can relate to where you are in your
[40:34] Speaker 2: life in reference to just like causing like wanting to
[40:39] Speaker 2: like be very intentional with yourself, your body. You know,
[40:43] Speaker 2: how you're loving on yourself like being you know, set
[40:47] Speaker 2: to me, like you talk about prayer, Like prayer really works,
[40:51] Speaker 2: it does, right, And I do think there's something about
[40:54] Speaker 2: when we start to envision who we want to be
[40:56] Speaker 2: within ourselves and we cement it with prayer, like the
[41:00] Speaker 2: evolution starts to happen like overnight, Oh.
[41:04] Speaker 1: My goodness, Herera seriously gotta be moving fast. It's like
[41:08] Speaker 1: what I just I.
[41:09] Speaker 2: Just said that, And it trickles down to everything. It
[41:13] Speaker 2: could be like in your business, it.
[41:15] Speaker 1: Can be your podcast and see her is here, you know.
[41:20] Speaker 2: It can be just even if somebody's off in your
[41:23] Speaker 2: friend circle, like just when you start to be like
[41:27] Speaker 2: in tune with yourself. Yeah, and you start to pour
[41:30] Speaker 2: into yourself, like everything starts to become more clear, and
[41:33] Speaker 2: you start to walk with a different pet like you
[41:35] Speaker 2: start to feel like you know, it's like okay, hold up,
[41:39] Speaker 2: my shoulder starts to get taller, like my walk starts
[41:41] Speaker 2: to get more like like, Okay, she know who she is,
[41:45] Speaker 2: Like she know where she want to go. She ain't
[41:47] Speaker 2: there yet, but she gonna get there. Like that's the
[41:49] Speaker 2: kind of mentality you start to have. So I love
[41:53] Speaker 2: you know, I love like what you're saying, and I
[41:56] Speaker 2: relate to what you're saying. And I think that the
[41:59] Speaker 2: season for things, right, this season you're talking about is
[42:01] Speaker 2: like Okay, this is before this season is important. Yeah,
[42:05] Speaker 2: very this season you're talking about it is important because
[42:08] Speaker 2: like you know, like when we do that, when we
[42:10] Speaker 2: make commitments to ourselves and like what we're trying to
[42:12] Speaker 2: do and trying to evolve, like we got to really
[42:15] Speaker 2: like okay, let's do it. Yes, right, And then I
[42:18] Speaker 2: swear to you like God is so good. The blessings
[42:21] Speaker 2: start to overflow. Yes, you know, they come. Yeah, And
[42:25] Speaker 2: like I was saying to somebody, to someone the other day,
[42:27] Speaker 2: it's like you want to be right, yeah right, you know,
[42:30] Speaker 2: so like I love that.
[42:32] Speaker 1: Yeah. Ari Lennox, she had just posted something about she's
[42:35] Speaker 1: been upstaining from sex. She's posted on Instagram and she's like,
[42:39] Speaker 1: I'm staying from sex, but it's hard dating guys because
[42:42] Speaker 1: that's all they want, yea, And she said, it just
[42:43] Speaker 1: seems like we're not winning the girls who are trying
[42:46] Speaker 1: to just do think date right the right way. So
[42:49] Speaker 1: I DM there and I was like, listen, I'm in
[42:51] Speaker 1: the same boat with you. So we exchanged information because
[42:53] Speaker 1: we have been known each other for since earlier this year.
[42:56] Speaker 1: And she's like, you too, yeah voice. I was like
[42:59] Speaker 1: me too. So you're just having the friendship.
[43:01] Speaker 2: The circle, Oh my gosh, the circles that you surround
[43:04] Speaker 2: yourself are really important. Who you share information with when
[43:08] Speaker 2: you're vulnerable is really important because what they say back
[43:12] Speaker 2: to you can impact your life so significantly. You can
[43:15] Speaker 2: have a friend that encourages you to do the right thing,
[43:17] Speaker 2: and one then encourages you, encourages you to do the
[43:19] Speaker 2: bad thing, and when you're vulnerable, sometimes you go with
[43:22] Speaker 2: the bad thing because like that's how the devil works.
[43:24] Speaker 2: It is, you know, like the feeling can feel like
[43:27] Speaker 2: that's the right thing, but it's the wrong thing. Yes,
[43:29] Speaker 2: So who advises you is really important.
[43:31] Speaker 1: So important. And I was in a state like that
[43:34] Speaker 1: last year where I've been open about it. I was
[43:37] Speaker 1: kind of running from Jesus. I was like, you know,
[43:40] Speaker 1: like I just felt like I just want to be
[43:41] Speaker 1: me and I was trying to straddle the fans around
[43:43] Speaker 1: like I want to like be me, and it wasn't
[43:47] Speaker 1: aligning with where.
[43:49] Speaker 2: No man, yes, lean on your owner. And I was
[43:53] Speaker 2: But you know what you made me think about to
[43:54] Speaker 2: you when you're talking about you know, abstaining and like
[43:58] Speaker 2: that phase you're in the right guy will respect it
[44:02] Speaker 2: and the right guy will appreciate it and like will
[44:05] Speaker 2: hold your hand with you. Yes, that's what I do know, right,
[44:10] Speaker 2: I know that for a fact. Okay, like you know,
[44:14] Speaker 2: I can cry again, but I know that right that
[44:18] Speaker 2: the right person. You know, listen, we're not perfect, you know,
[44:22] Speaker 2: not going to always you know, say everything perfectly and
[44:26] Speaker 2: do everything perfectly. But the right person like they're going
[44:30] Speaker 2: to wait for you, and they're going to respect you,
[44:33] Speaker 2: and they're going to you know, be patient with you.
[44:36] Speaker 2: And when they're thinking like rus and we talk about
[44:38] Speaker 2: being equally yoked. Like that's a game changer, right, because
[44:42] Speaker 2: that already already changes the playing field. Now we're we're
[44:46] Speaker 2: operating from the same platform, same foundation perspective, Like now
[44:51] Speaker 2: we can really go up together, you know, because yeah,
[44:56] Speaker 2: like we're you know what I'm saying. So it's like
[44:59] Speaker 2: that's the thing, right, And I think there's a difference
[45:01] Speaker 2: between boys, boys and men, right, you know, so like men,
[45:06] Speaker 2: they're gonna wait for you, they're gonna be patient with you,
[45:09] Speaker 2: they gonna put the time in, they're gonna send you flowers,
[45:12] Speaker 2: they're gonna think of you. It's gonna be the little
[45:14] Speaker 2: things that are gonna actually make the biggest difference. But
[45:17] Speaker 2: they're gonna be so intentional because they real men. Like
[45:20] Speaker 2: that's so, you know, I think that to me is
[45:22] Speaker 2: also something I learned in life through my journey. Right,
[45:25] Speaker 2: there's a difference between boys and men.
[45:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's so true. Yeah, and you're raising young men
[45:31] Speaker 1: and a daughter, Like, how is that like seeing your
[45:34] Speaker 1: images of you walking around the house and instilling these
[45:38] Speaker 1: principles into them.
[45:39] Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh, it is the best. Being a mom
[45:42] Speaker 2: is the best job, the best job on earth because
[45:46] Speaker 2: it is a job okay, So I'm gonna shout out
[45:48] Speaker 2: all I don't care if you stay at home mom,
[45:51] Speaker 2: like it is work. Yeah okay, but I wouldn't have
[45:56] Speaker 2: my life any other way. And I think, you know,
[45:59] Speaker 2: it's fun. And you know Sienna, especially little.
[46:01] Speaker 1: CC baby so much personality.
[46:05] Speaker 2: See boys, she be coming hat okay, but she loves
[46:10] Speaker 2: me so much, like and I'm like looking at him,
[46:13] Speaker 2: like I'm seeing she's going through this interesting face. She
[46:15] Speaker 2: just wants to do everything with me and like me,
[46:17] Speaker 2: and I'm like, wow, like what a gift? What a
[46:22] Speaker 2: how sweet is that my daughter looks at me and
[46:24] Speaker 2: she like looks up to me, like wow, that is
[46:27] Speaker 2: so precious, Like, you know, God, like, please help me
[46:30] Speaker 2: to be the best example I can be for her.
[46:32] Speaker 2: Please help me to teach her the best way possible.
[46:34] Speaker 2: Please give me the words to say to her when
[46:37] Speaker 2: she's gonna need it the most, like please let her
[46:39] Speaker 2: feel comfortable to come and leave my shoulder, you know,
[46:43] Speaker 2: when she's gonna need it the most. Like that's what
[46:45] Speaker 2: I hope for with my baby, my baby girls. And
[46:48] Speaker 2: like like I said I was saying to JV earlier,
[46:50] Speaker 2: I was like I'm out here ground like it's the
[46:53] Speaker 2: early two thousands, and she is not feeling it. Like
[46:55] Speaker 2: she had the greatest cry the other day and I'd
[46:58] Speaker 2: never seen her do that before because she didn't want
[47:00] Speaker 2: me to travel. But I do hope that when she
[47:03] Speaker 2: sees Mommy can do it, I can do it.
[47:05] Speaker 1: Absolutely.
[47:06] Speaker 2: I hope that for Mauramora is just one years old.
[47:09] Speaker 2: She's like twenty months now, and this girl is one
[47:12] Speaker 2: going on twenty one for sure, Like I think she's
[47:17] Speaker 2: gonna be really confident too, love it. So I just
[47:20] Speaker 2: hope that they both will look at mommy that way.
[47:22] Speaker 2: And I just pray over our bond and our boys.
[47:25] Speaker 2: You know, I think they get to see how Dad
[47:27] Speaker 2: loves me. You know, I think that's important. You know.
[47:31] Speaker 2: I hope that they also get to, you know, have
[47:35] Speaker 2: the right perspective on me, you know, like when it
[47:37] Speaker 2: comes to them meeting a lady in their lives. Like,
[47:39] Speaker 2: you know, it's an interesting dynamic with boy and girl.
[47:44] Speaker 2: But it's a blessing that I have both. You know.
[47:46] Speaker 2: It's it's NonStop. Boys think everything is a jungle gym.
[47:51] Speaker 2: Maybe yeah, he'll be eating food in a case of
[47:54] Speaker 2: dealing'll be like like jumping from I'm like, what we
[47:57] Speaker 2: doing right? And see she said, I don't do hair
[47:59] Speaker 2: and makeup. That like there's a clear dynamic between both
[48:02] Speaker 2: of them, both you know, boy and girl. But I
[48:05] Speaker 2: do get the best of both worlds.
[48:06] Speaker 1: Yeah, the state of the world that we're in, I
[48:09] Speaker 1: have a fear of bringing children into this world. When
[48:12] Speaker 1: you're raising children, is there ever like fear that creeps
[48:15] Speaker 1: in as they're leaving the house, Like what influences are
[48:18] Speaker 1: gonna interact with them as they leave the house?
[48:21] Speaker 2: One That's why I'm trying to really work on communicating
[48:25] Speaker 2: even more at home because we come from the air.
[48:27] Speaker 2: I'm not sure if you feel this way, but I
[48:28] Speaker 2: feel like we came from the era where a lot
[48:29] Speaker 2: of conversations were just like you don't talk about them,
[48:33] Speaker 2: absolutely right. It can be sex conversations, it can be
[48:37] Speaker 2: you know how just anything like if you know, we
[48:41] Speaker 2: just wouldn't like talk about things. And so for me,
[48:44] Speaker 2: I'm trying to really challenge myself to create a lot
[48:47] Speaker 2: of communication and also tell them about things before the
[48:50] Speaker 2: world tells them because oftentimes, unfortunately kids go to school
[48:54] Speaker 2: and they get information right, you know, and like that's
[48:58] Speaker 2: never good in most cases because they're like sponges and
[49:02] Speaker 2: they absorb so easily they do, so, you know, I
[49:05] Speaker 2: try to find the fine balance between like what we
[49:08] Speaker 2: talk about and how far we go with things, but
[49:12] Speaker 2: also equipping them for the world because it is a
[49:15] Speaker 2: whole new world.
[49:16] Speaker 1: It is.
[49:17] Speaker 2: It is really so interesting when we were growing up.
[49:19] Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, it's crazy.
[49:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, And they have so much access now to things
[49:25] Speaker 1: that we didn't have access to growing up.
[49:27] Speaker 2: They do, they do, you know. But I think if
[49:29] Speaker 2: we talk about things, like, you know, try to avoid
[49:33] Speaker 2: as many surprises as possible for them, Like when they
[49:36] Speaker 2: go in the world, it's like, okay, mom, we talked
[49:38] Speaker 2: about that. My mom told me, like I know what
[49:40] Speaker 2: that is. And they can also know, like they need
[49:42] Speaker 2: to be able to know stuff if someone's telling them.
[49:44] Speaker 1: But like, no, that's not right. Yeah, that's so true.
[49:47] Speaker 1: That's good. I love that.
[49:48] Speaker 2: Here.
[49:49] Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Congratulations on your new element. You're
[49:52] Speaker 1: driving super excited about everything you have going on. Make
[49:55] Speaker 1: sure you guys go buy her rum. It is ten
[49:59] Speaker 1: to one rum and then you have a skin care line.
[50:04] Speaker 2: So you can go to omskin dot com. But I
[50:06] Speaker 2: also wanted to share with my friends, my fans and
[50:09] Speaker 2: just the customers that have been like the best supporters
[50:12] Speaker 2: with OM in particular, is that I'm one of this.
[50:15] Speaker 2: I'm on a mission to keep evolving in this space.
[50:19] Speaker 2: So I'm also even though it's me, my my business
[50:22] Speaker 2: is still really small, so I go go through those
[50:25] Speaker 2: growing pains that a lot of small business owners go through,
[50:28] Speaker 2: and yeah, and it's a beast. So there is an
[50:31] Speaker 2: evolution that's happening behind the scenes with OM. And so
[50:35] Speaker 2: because you're probably like, what's my posting cadence, like it's
[50:38] Speaker 2: it's like it's slowing down. Like if you're a true
[50:40] Speaker 2: fan of OEM, you're probably like, Okay, what's happening. But
[50:43] Speaker 2: what fortunately did happen for me is a lot of
[50:45] Speaker 2: my SKUs sold out multiple times, so that was great,
[50:49] Speaker 2: and our subscription subscription world has been amazing and growing.
[50:53] Speaker 2: But now people when they go to omskin dot com,
[50:56] Speaker 2: you'll see I have my serum and my writing pads,
[50:59] Speaker 2: and those were two of are like strongest sellers. And
[51:01] Speaker 2: so luckily I have a great amount of inventory. So
[51:03] Speaker 2: I tell everybody to get it while it lasts, because
[51:06] Speaker 2: OEM is about to evolve and I have new formulations
[51:10] Speaker 2: that I'm working on and it's super exciting. I'm using
[51:13] Speaker 2: them every day. I honestly can't go without them. Thank
[51:18] Speaker 2: you so much. So yeah, I'm excited, good amazing.

[51:35] Speaker 1: You love it? Who's in your group chat?
[51:37] Speaker 2: Okay, it's funny because okay, my group chat with my girls.
[51:42] Speaker 2: We have one with me law V. Yeah, we have
[51:50] Speaker 2: mel V sometimes Melvy and Kelly. Yeah, that's my girls
[51:55] Speaker 2: and also my best fend of makeup artist, Yolanda. I
[51:58] Speaker 2: have to shout her out because she's been in my
[52:00] Speaker 2: career since I was my very first professional shoot really
[52:03] Speaker 2: when I was sixteen years old. So we have our
[52:07] Speaker 2: sometimes it might be me La Yolie. I'd be between
[52:11] Speaker 2: Russ and I. We've been doing multiple group chats. It
[52:14] Speaker 2: depends on the topic, right, It's just like our flow.
