[0:00] Speaker 1: What's up? Family?
[0:01] Speaker 2: I am so excited for season eight, But before we
[0:03] Speaker 2: get into it, I gotta take.
[0:05] Speaker 1: Y'all back to be Et Media House. I had so
[0:07] Speaker 1: many amazing conversations, so many gems were dropped. Stay tuned.
[0:11] Speaker 1: He's coming up next.
[0:12] Speaker 2: All right, guys, Christopher Hazeler here, come in live from
[0:15] Speaker 2: bet Media House with Keep it Positive, sweetie, and I
[0:18] Speaker 2: have two of your favorite ladies from Tyler Perry's sisters,
[0:21] Speaker 2: Mignon and Sal. I want to talk about you more
[0:23] Speaker 2: on a personal level, and y'all, like I said, you
[0:25] Speaker 2: my soul sister, you are very spiritual. You always give
[0:28] Speaker 2: all glory to God. How has that journey been growing
[0:31] Speaker 2: closer to God for you? That's something like I've seen
[0:35] Speaker 2: you speaking out about more and more even on your platform.
[0:39] Speaker 3: I think for me, like right now, just to be vulnerable.
[0:43] Speaker 3: This might be sleep deprivation, allow me to be long understanding,
[0:49] Speaker 3: but like just understanding that God is good. Yeah, and
[0:57] Speaker 3: like how simple that phrase is, but how much weight
[1:01] Speaker 3: it is and how much depth there is, And it
[1:04] Speaker 3: kind of like reminds me of that scripture. There's no height,
[1:06] Speaker 3: nor depth, nor angel nor demon like there is nothing
[1:09] Speaker 3: made that can separate us from the love of God,
[1:13] Speaker 3: and so we might be perplexed, we might be tossed about,
[1:18] Speaker 3: but we have hope and there's an anchor and that
[1:22] Speaker 3: is really what I'm trying to hold onto right now.
[1:24] Speaker 3: And I think I might be in like a stretching season,
[1:27] Speaker 3: like a growing season, like that transition. You know, there's
[1:31] Speaker 3: those moments in your life where you go from Some
[1:34] Speaker 3: people will say glory to glory, but I think when
[1:36] Speaker 3: you go from like wilderness to the promise, but you
[1:39] Speaker 3: remember like how they left Egypt, but then there was
[1:42] Speaker 3: the wilderness, yes, and then there was like the fight
[1:45] Speaker 3: for the promise, and then there was like there's these
[1:47] Speaker 3: stages like I'm in this like and you go through
[1:52] Speaker 3: several wildernesses in life, so likely just understanding like in
[1:57] Speaker 3: those dry spaces like the wilderness, Yeah, your shoes don't
[2:02] Speaker 3: wear out, come on, provides bread every day. So yeah,
[2:06] Speaker 3: it's dry and it's hard and it's not where you
[2:08] Speaker 3: want to be. And it's like I thought you told
[2:10] Speaker 3: me there was something else, But how long I got
[2:12] Speaker 3: to circle this mountain? Like where do you what am
[2:14] Speaker 3: I doing here?
[2:16] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[2:16] Speaker 3: But like understanding that there are things that have to
[2:19] Speaker 3: die in the wilderness.
[2:20] Speaker 1: Yep, and that even that is good. Yes, right, yeah,
[2:24] Speaker 1: that is good.
[2:25] Speaker 3: When he's killing things off of you, when it hurts,
[2:28] Speaker 3: it's good. Like it was good for me that I
[2:31] Speaker 3: was afflicted, that I might know his ways and so
[2:35] Speaker 3: just understanding that all things work together for the good
[2:38] Speaker 3: and so if it's not good yet, then he's not done.
[2:40] Speaker 1: Like come on, it's just that's just where I am.
[2:43] Speaker 3: And I like to understanding, like, yeah, if he's a
[2:47] Speaker 3: good father, he's not going to give you something that
[2:50] Speaker 3: you don't have their strength.
[2:51] Speaker 1: To carry yet.
[2:52] Speaker 3: Yes, so true, because if I give a ten year
[2:55] Speaker 3: old a car key, they'll crash and die.
[2:57] Speaker 1: Don't want you alive?
[2:58] Speaker 3: Or do I want you happy?
[2:59] Speaker 1: Yes?
[3:00] Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
[3:00] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like.
[3:03] Speaker 3: Learning to just find them the good, truly seeing the
[3:07] Speaker 3: good and everything. So like practically I'm getting back into
[3:10] Speaker 3: like simply just journaling gratitude and like doing the.
[3:14] Speaker 1: Artist pages, I know, you know, the artists way.
[3:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, stuff like that, and like marrying different modalities for
[3:22] Speaker 3: healing and like keeping my mind is love it sure?
[3:25] Speaker 1: Yeah so that might have been ten minutes. No, that
[3:28] Speaker 1: was good. I needed that, Yes, so good, so good.
[3:32] Speaker 2: We live in a world where health is everything, the
[3:36] Speaker 2: quote health is wealth. What brought you to the point
[3:38] Speaker 2: where you're like, I'm going to really make this a
[3:40] Speaker 2: part of my personal journey.
[3:42] Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I think it's childhood.
[3:45] Speaker 1: I think it's not being exposed to really what health
[3:50] Speaker 1: and nutrition and wellness looks like.
[3:52] Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I think we all can say as
[3:54] Speaker 4: a kid, we ate nothing, a lot of fast food,
[3:57] Speaker 4: a lot of you know, processed food, not be educated
[4:00] Speaker 4: about those things. And I think as I've gotten older
[4:04] Speaker 4: and also coming into this industry and having you know,
[4:08] Speaker 4: and traveling the world and being more exposed to these
[4:11] Speaker 4: kind of.
[4:13] Speaker 1: Aligned me to it.
[4:14] Speaker 4: But also, you know, tomorrow is not promised. You know,
[4:19] Speaker 4: how we treat our bodies, how we take care of ourselves,
[4:22] Speaker 4: like it's going to affect us when we are fifty, sixty,
[4:25] Speaker 4: seventy eighty years old. And I think a lot of
[4:28] Speaker 4: people think it's like, oh, I'm getting older.
[4:30] Speaker 1: This is just supposed to happen. No, that is not.
[4:33] Speaker 4: Supposed to have You can be ninety years old and
[4:36] Speaker 4: still lifting weights. You can be ninety years old and
[4:38] Speaker 4: still be so healthy. And that's just kind of how
[4:41] Speaker 4: I live my life. So I did all the certifications
[4:44] Speaker 4: I could do because I just wanted to really understand
[4:47] Speaker 4: what it means to age and understand what.
[4:51] Speaker 1: It means to feel good.
[4:53] Speaker 4: You know, you don't have to if you eat something
[4:56] Speaker 4: and you don't feel good, look at that.
[4:59] Speaker 1: Why your stomach is bloated? Okay, what did you just eat?
[5:03] Speaker 5: You know?
[5:03] Speaker 1: But people like they'll just keep eating it. Yeah, this
[5:06] Speaker 1: is just normal. No, it's not you. You have to
[5:18] Speaker 1: eat every once in a while. Yeah, she gave me
[5:20] Speaker 1: the tea code, right, She's like, if you really want
[5:23] Speaker 1: to do it, I'm not telling you what to do.
[5:24] Speaker 1: But I was like, you know, and don't get me wrong.
[5:27] Speaker 4: I will get I will eat my in and out,
[5:28] Speaker 4: I will eat my fat burger.
[5:29] Speaker 1: I will I will do it. But it's the balance.
[5:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, however long we're going to be here, don't you
[5:38] Speaker 4: want to?
[5:38] Speaker 1: Like I want to feel good absolutely, and that for me.
[5:42] Speaker 4: And also I like making people feel good. Yes, I
[5:45] Speaker 4: love the helping people work out, and I'm pushing you,
[5:49] Speaker 4: like you can do it.
[5:50] Speaker 1: It's hard, but you can do it.
[5:52] Speaker 4: And you're going to feel amazing afterwards.
[5:53] Speaker 2: I love that I have none other than the candy
[5:57] Speaker 2: birds can what's up?
[6:00] Speaker 1: How does it feel coming back every single year?
[6:03] Speaker 6: I think for me, the more mature I get, it's
[6:07] Speaker 6: more thankful I get, because, like you know, longevity is
[6:10] Speaker 6: not it's not given, you know what I mean, It's
[6:14] Speaker 6: not automatic, Like everybody don't are not able to continue
[6:17] Speaker 6: to be in this space, right, So I'm just thankful
[6:20] Speaker 6: for it.
[6:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of longevity, how have you been able to
[6:25] Speaker 2: continue to keep your career going?
[6:26] Speaker 1: Because, like you said, a lot of people who started
[6:28] Speaker 1: off where you started are not where you are and
[6:31] Speaker 1: you have literally just skyrocketed.
[6:33] Speaker 6: I think it's just being constantly open and constantly reinvented
[6:37] Speaker 6: myself and not always caring about being the person in
[6:41] Speaker 6: the front, you know what I mean. It's like I
[6:43] Speaker 6: don't mind being behind the scenes or I'll be in
[6:46] Speaker 6: front whatever the job takes. I mean, if I'm needed,
[6:49] Speaker 6: it's talent. I can be talent if I need. If
[6:51] Speaker 6: I'm the one that's needed to help facilitate and get
[6:54] Speaker 6: everybody together, and then.
[6:55] Speaker 1: I can do that too.
[6:56] Speaker 6: You know, I think some people let their ego get
[6:59] Speaker 6: into way and only want to be upfront. But it's
[7:02] Speaker 6: kind of like the way the world in entertainment works
[7:05] Speaker 6: is like you can be super super hot one minute
[7:07] Speaker 6: and then next minute, ain't nobody checking for what you're doing?
[7:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's.
[7:11] Speaker 6: Gotta be cool with you know, like playing different roles
[7:14] Speaker 6: until it shows your time to jump back in.
[7:17] Speaker 2: Kind of like double that right right exactly. Kiss family,
[7:22] Speaker 2: I'm here live from the Beet Media House. But one
[7:25] Speaker 2: of my favorite actors Jay Alphine's Nicholson.
[7:28] Speaker 1: How are you doing.
[7:29] Speaker 7: I'm doing great and thank you for the compliment.
[7:31] Speaker 2: Yes, no, you are absolutely phenomenal. Getting acclimated into Hollywood?
[7:36] Speaker 1: How is that being?
[7:36] Speaker 2: Because I'm from the country too, I'm a Southern girl.
[7:38] Speaker 2: Are you from I'm from Tennessee okay, yeah, Becausin.
[7:40] Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, right right right there beside each other.
[7:44] Speaker 2: Yes, yes, So what is that journey been and what
[7:46] Speaker 2: have you learned through all this?
[7:48] Speaker 1: I know it's a lot for me, Like just getting
[7:50] Speaker 1: Acclimated's like whoa this is? It's different.
[7:52] Speaker 9: You know.
[7:53] Speaker 8: Sometimes I forget. I'll be out and forget that I'm
[7:55] Speaker 8: famous of that. So many people know me for the work,
[7:58] Speaker 8: you know. So I'm to me, just me, to my family,
[8:01] Speaker 8: I'm just me. I'll never forget where I come from,
[8:04] Speaker 8: you know. I keep a little video journal on my
[8:06] Speaker 8: phone just to remember, you know, and you know, for me,
[8:11] Speaker 8: it's just all about really being kind to those who
[8:14] Speaker 8: may have a misunderstanding of what this can be. Yes,
[8:17] Speaker 8: and also being you know, putting yourself in isolation to
[8:21] Speaker 8: a certain extent to where it doesn't have to bother you,
[8:23] Speaker 8: and knowing who your real family is. Everything that grant
[8:26] Speaker 8: ain't your friend, you know, and you got to carry
[8:28] Speaker 8: that mentality open into the industry and just you know,
[8:31] Speaker 8: make sure that you keep the people who are with
[8:33] Speaker 8: you at the beginning and try to keep them around
[8:35] Speaker 8: you, you know, try to keep them close.
[8:36] Speaker 7: So that's been my adjustment. But it's different for everybody.
[8:38] Speaker 2: No, for sure, saying to me like, I feel like
[8:40] Speaker 2: the more my star continued to rise, isolation became more
[8:44] Speaker 2: of my friends.
[8:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure, and I found peace in the isolation.
[8:47] Speaker 8: Yeah, it ain't nothing wrong with especially when you got
[8:49] Speaker 8: the people around you who want around you. And everything
[8:52] Speaker 8: else is a job, you know, and then sometimes people
[8:55] Speaker 8: in the job become your friends and family.
[8:57] Speaker 7: But you want to be careful and know the difference.
[9:00] Speaker 1: Yes, so true. Yes, kids, family, it's your girl.
[9:03] Speaker 2: Christopher Hayes It I'm here at the bat Media house
[9:06] Speaker 2: with the one and only be Ah.
[9:08] Speaker 1: How are you? I'm great?
[9:11] Speaker 10: Girl? Are you?
[9:12] Speaker 1: I'm good?
[9:12] Speaker 2: You look amazing? So you have over two billion streams?
[9:19] Speaker 1: Crazy?
[9:19] Speaker 2: That's crazy, Goddess like great heat.
[9:24] Speaker 1: Won't we do it?
[9:25] Speaker 11: You do?
[9:26] Speaker 9: He will?
[9:27] Speaker 2: How does it feel to like know that, like people
[9:29] Speaker 2: are playing it everything over and over again.
[9:31] Speaker 10: I feel really grateful, And I just feel like I'm
[9:34] Speaker 10: really blessed and grateful that people allow me to just
[9:38] Speaker 10: create and support whatever they want to support and let
[9:41] Speaker 10: me make my mistakes as a human and come back
[9:43] Speaker 10: and make better music and things like that. So I'm
[9:46] Speaker 10: grateful for that.
[9:47] Speaker 1: I love that.
[9:48] Speaker 2: I love that making mistakes and coming back. I feel
[9:50] Speaker 2: like that's just a part of life, you know.
[9:53] Speaker 10: Yeah, like just you know, you gotta take all the
[9:56] Speaker 10: good with the bad, and you gotta say, like how
[9:59] Speaker 10: is how does this improve me as a person?
[10:02] Speaker 1: Yeah? You know, I love it.
[10:03] Speaker 10: So I feel like a lot of my new music
[10:05] Speaker 10: is like very a on a way more positive like
[10:09] Speaker 10: higher frequency, even like the higher energy stuff like We
[10:12] Speaker 10: on Go, It's still it's still just like on a
[10:15] Speaker 10: different level.
[10:15] Speaker 1: I love that. What made you want to just really
[10:17] Speaker 1: tap into that positive energy?
[10:19] Speaker 10: I wanted to like really sit down and like pay
[10:22] Speaker 10: attention to the music, pay attention to like my lyrics.
[10:24] Speaker 10: What was the frequency I was putting into the world.
[10:27] Speaker 10: And I really wanted, like my music to mean something,
[10:31] Speaker 10: you know. So I feel like with this project that
[10:33] Speaker 10: I've been working on, it was like a lot of that.
[10:36] Speaker 2: I'm with you, I'm working on music, and I did
[10:38] Speaker 2: the same thing. I told my team.
[10:39] Speaker 1: I was like, I want to be intentional about what
[10:41] Speaker 1: I'm putting out.
[10:42] Speaker 2: And I was like, there's our music is a portal,
[10:44] Speaker 2: you know, we can open up a lot of different
[10:46] Speaker 2: spirits if we're not careful.
[10:47] Speaker 1: You spend right now.
[10:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, So like, I love that you're being intentional about that.
[10:51] Speaker 2: That's amazing because a lot of times we just put
[10:53] Speaker 2: what we think is hot, you know, and not understanding
[10:55] Speaker 2: that we're putting different things out there and our audience,
[10:59] Speaker 2: whether it's kids to go in other Yes, Yeah.
[11:02] Speaker 10: That was a big one for me. That's like I'm
[11:05] Speaker 10: looking at other women and I'm looking at my little sister,
[11:07] Speaker 10: I'm looking at my little cousins, and I'm like, what
[11:10] Speaker 10: type of women did I have to look up to
[11:12] Speaker 10: and what type of women do I need to be? Yes,
[11:15] Speaker 10: like what type of women do I need to be
[11:16] Speaker 10: for them?
[11:18] Speaker 1: I'm with you. That is so good.
[11:19] Speaker 2: I'm like, that's even this podcast is called keep It
[11:21] Speaker 2: Positive sweet yeh yes, so yeah, that's it's.
[11:24] Speaker 1: Because it's so much negativity in the world. Yeah, it's
[11:27] Speaker 1: bad enough, it really is. So we need some positivity.
[11:30] Speaker 1: So I'm excited about this.
[11:32] Speaker 2: All right, guys, Christopher Hazel here reporting live from the
[11:35] Speaker 2: Beet Media House, and I have my dear friend, my
[11:38] Speaker 2: little bro.
[11:38] Speaker 1: Devintu with me. How you doing.
[11:40] Speaker 12: I'm doing great, So.
[11:42] Speaker 1: I keep tabs on you.
[11:43] Speaker 2: You're still on your mental health journey, You're still speaking.
[11:46] Speaker 1: How's that going?
[11:48] Speaker 9: It's going great.
[11:49] Speaker 12: I think, you know, by the grace of God, I'm
[11:51] Speaker 12: able to explain it in a way that people are
[11:55] Speaker 12: able to receive the message and understand the importance of
[11:59] Speaker 12: prioritiz in your mental health because a lot of times,
[12:02] Speaker 12: like I said before in the interview, that we did
[12:04] Speaker 12: like people, you know, it's explained to us in such
[12:07] Speaker 12: a way that it's kind of like it makes it
[12:09] Speaker 12: like it's kind of hard to make it practical, but
[12:11] Speaker 12: I try to break it down to make it practical,
[12:13] Speaker 12: and I feel like people receive it pretty well, so.
[12:15] Speaker 1: You do such a good job with that.
[12:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, you do, and you've reached so many people. Like
[12:19] Speaker 2: at my live show, I got so many people called
[12:21] Speaker 2: me afterwards. I was like, oh my god, he blew
[12:23] Speaker 2: me away. And I'm like, the kid is just brilliant. Wow,
[12:26] Speaker 2: I call you a kid, but you're he's a man.
[12:28] Speaker 9: No, no, no, I appreciate you far.
[12:29] Speaker 1: You're brilliant.
[12:30] Speaker 2: I'm just like, you blew me away when people are
[12:33] Speaker 2: calling like, oh my god, and that Divinci like every
[12:35] Speaker 2: conversation you came up.
[12:36] Speaker 1: Wow, like yeah, you're so good.
[12:39] Speaker 2: That that speaks to who you are because you can
[12:42] Speaker 2: touch so many different people, like from all age ranges.
[12:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's huge because a lot of people can't. They
[12:47] Speaker 1: have like one little demographic. They right, exactly, you have
[12:50] Speaker 1: such a wide range.
[12:51] Speaker 9: Exactly. No, I appreciate that, No, for sure.
[12:53] Speaker 1: Something that we share in comment that we talked about
[12:55] Speaker 1: is our faith. I always want to tap into that
[12:58] Speaker 1: anytime I can.
[12:59] Speaker 2: How is that going for you and is there anything
[13:01] Speaker 2: that you can share with someone who may be feeling
[13:03] Speaker 2: down on a look and just not really feeling it
[13:05] Speaker 2: right now?
[13:07] Speaker 12: I would say, if you believe in the Bible, which
[13:10] Speaker 12: which I do. I think you just got to understand
[13:14] Speaker 12: that and know that it's a good fight. You know,
[13:17] Speaker 12: the walk walking with Christ is probably one of the
[13:20] Speaker 12: hardest walks you can make. But just know that you're
[13:22] Speaker 12: not You're not alone. And I think in the end
[13:24] Speaker 12: not I think, I know in the end it's all
[13:26] Speaker 12: going to pay off. But but yeah, just just fight
[13:29] Speaker 12: the good fight and just allow the Holy Spirit to
[13:32] Speaker 12: be letting you into your life.
[13:33] Speaker 9: I think a lot of.
[13:34] Speaker 12: Times we were building doors unmannokest like we don't we're
[13:40] Speaker 12: not aware that we're building doors to block out good
[13:42] Speaker 12: stuff in our life.
[13:43] Speaker 9: So just try to be more mindful.
[13:45] Speaker 12: I think pray for discernment and areas that you might
[13:47] Speaker 12: be blocking God off that you don't realize you're doing it,
[13:50] Speaker 12: because there's a lot of ways we could be doing that,
[13:51] Speaker 12: and I think it alleviates some of the suffering.
[13:53] Speaker 1: That's so good. I love it. I love you, man, No,
[13:55] Speaker 1: I appreciate you, love you too.
[13:57] Speaker 12: I appreciate you.
[13:58] Speaker 1: Jaco's always good to talk to you.
[14:00] Speaker 9: You see you.
[14:01] Speaker 1: Congratulations season seven. That's huge. I think you talked about that.
[14:04] Speaker 2: Just the longevity and having a job in this industry
[14:07] Speaker 2: is a blessing.
[14:08] Speaker 1: How does it feel to be hitting your seventh season
[14:10] Speaker 1: of the ship.
[14:12] Speaker 9: It's dope.
[14:12] Speaker 13: I just try to stay humble and keep my head down,
[14:15] Speaker 13: you know what I mean, because like I just know,
[14:17] Speaker 13: like the way our industry set up.
[14:18] Speaker 9: It can go either way.
[14:20] Speaker 1: You know, it really can.
[14:21] Speaker 13: Like that film striker is like we talked about it.
[14:23] Speaker 13: You know what I'm saying, Like, it's like, yo, you
[14:25] Speaker 13: can really just the film industry can shut down if
[14:27] Speaker 13: you want to.
[14:27] Speaker 1: You really does not have a job out here.
[14:29] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[14:29] Speaker 13: Yeah, So I'm definitely like just grateful, keep my head
[14:32] Speaker 13: down and always ready for the pivot, trying to save
[14:34] Speaker 13: my money and do right in between seasons.
[14:37] Speaker 2: And I go crazy, I know, because it's so easy
[14:39] Speaker 2: money Here's yeah.
[14:41] Speaker 13: I always tell people, man, it's so it's a lot
[14:42] Speaker 13: of spirits attached to your money goals. Wow, oh let's
[14:45] Speaker 13: talk about you know what I'm saying, Because like you
[14:47] Speaker 13: can reach your money goal and then you blow it
[14:49] Speaker 13: because you just so geeked about the materialistic things that
[14:52] Speaker 13: you want and you're not realizing out of your excitement,
[14:54] Speaker 13: you making the worst financial decision.
[14:56] Speaker 1: Ever's so good, you know what I'm saying That it's
[14:58] Speaker 1: so good.
[14:58] Speaker 14: Yeah.
[14:59] Speaker 2: I think that's something that a lot of people, young
[15:01] Speaker 2: people should know should coming into the industry.
[15:03] Speaker 1: When you get it, make sure you honor it and
[15:05] Speaker 1: do right, body, because it can be gone just like that.
[15:08] Speaker 9: The chaining want the rolls, like, I mean, you know
[15:10] Speaker 9: we want we.
[15:11] Speaker 1: All want it.
[15:13] Speaker 9: It's the cars, you know what I'm saying.
[15:15] Speaker 1: And then you get it and you're like, it's temporary. No,
[15:17] Speaker 1: it's so temporary. It's so temporary.
[15:19] Speaker 13: Like you know what I mean, I've just been putting
[15:20] Speaker 13: more money, my money into the house, the backyard stuff
[15:22] Speaker 13: I like to do.
[15:23] Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I'm a homebody.
[15:24] Speaker 1: Same.
[15:25] Speaker 14: Yeah.
[15:25] Speaker 1: I remember you still having parties at your house on
[15:27] Speaker 1: your own account.
[15:27] Speaker 9: Yeah, you selected few.
[15:30] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. I was just telling my parents are visiting.
[15:34] Speaker 2: I was like, make sure when you guys get an
[15:35] Speaker 2: uber like they'll start asking questions, don't be straight up.
[15:38] Speaker 2: You gotta be careful because people like they start prying,
[15:41] Speaker 2: they want to know certain things.
[15:42] Speaker 9: They're like got to set them bounce.
[15:44] Speaker 2: Yes, and your home is like your safe, having your
[15:46] Speaker 2: head energy let in there.
[15:48] Speaker 1: I'm with you on that.
[15:49] Speaker 9: That's right.
[15:50] Speaker 13: The slow burns, I think that's just been kind of
[15:53] Speaker 13: my testimony. In my career, really like everything has been
[15:56] Speaker 13: like a delayed gratification, you know.
[15:58] Speaker 4: What I mean.
[15:58] Speaker 7: In the moment, it be like I was, and then
[16:00] Speaker 7: you're like, oh man.
[16:01] Speaker 13: Looking back, brou you're a legend, right, thank you agend.
[16:05] Speaker 13: Like I'm still still young, you know what I mean.
[16:06] Speaker 13: So it's cool still writing my story.
[16:09] Speaker 1: I love that.
[16:10] Speaker 2: I love that you said delayed gratification. I feel like
[16:12] Speaker 2: that has been my life story. Yeah, and a lot
[16:15] Speaker 2: of times it's really just God like ordering the sets
[16:17] Speaker 2: and ordaining things.
[16:18] Speaker 1: So when you get to that point where it feels
[16:20] Speaker 1: like you're delayed, you're right on time.
[16:21] Speaker 13: Yep, you perfect, You relax, you ain't going too crazy.
[16:24] Speaker 13: I think I think famous fame shouldn't hit somebody too fast,
[16:28] Speaker 13: you know what I'm saying. I think it's it's it's
[16:31] Speaker 13: detrimental for anybody.
[16:33] Speaker 9: I agree.
[16:33] Speaker 13: So I definitely thank God for protecting us on our
[16:37] Speaker 13: way to what we're doing, because I feel like, if
[16:39] Speaker 13: you want to have a career, careers is a slow burn.
[16:42] Speaker 9: You know, you could be the most popping.
[16:44] Speaker 13: Guy whatever or popping girl, but a career is what
[16:47] Speaker 13: we really want, you know what I mean. Like, and
[16:49] Speaker 13: it doesn't mean you're always gonna be that that person,
[16:52] Speaker 13: you know, but you always gonna have that longevity in career.
[16:54] Speaker 9: So that's that's what we.
[16:55] Speaker 2: Want I have with me, Jay Murphy, you are really
[16:58] Speaker 2: big on using your guy give gifts. Tell me how
[17:02] Speaker 2: you honed into your God given gifts and what are
[17:04] Speaker 2: some of the gifts that you realized that you had.
[17:06] Speaker 11: Well, I think back to what we were just saying
[17:09] Speaker 11: as far as just DC wake you up. I think
[17:11] Speaker 11: my experience, my undergrad experience at Howard, really opened up
[17:15] Speaker 11: my eyes on what I wanted to do. I just
[17:18] Speaker 11: didn't know how I wanted to do it. But in
[17:21] Speaker 11: that moment, I figured out as a college boy, what
[17:24] Speaker 11: I wanted to do.
[17:25] Speaker 1: And so.
[17:27] Speaker 11: The very first thing that I started doing, I started
[17:31] Speaker 11: as a host. And so I used to host things
[17:35] Speaker 11: all on campus, all the student body, Smart or homecoming,
[17:40] Speaker 11: red Life, you know, or with ESPN U would come.
[17:45] Speaker 9: Film the game.
[17:45] Speaker 11: I'll be doing a pep rally, so you know, even
[17:48] Speaker 11: freshman orientation. I was a part of an organization called
[17:51] Speaker 11: campus Bous and so like yeah, I became like the
[17:55] Speaker 11: face of the student body behind the microphone day your.
[17:59] Speaker 9: Boy across have out the side and the guy Rilla.
[18:02] Speaker 9: I started hosting step shows.
[18:04] Speaker 1: He was like, listen, listen, We're gonna do it.
[18:07] Speaker 3: We're gonna get it done.
[18:08] Speaker 1: Period.
[18:08] Speaker 11: Yes, I started hosting step shows. So after I crossed
[18:12] Speaker 11: capital to my LB was like me lying to DJ,
[18:14] Speaker 11: you just did. I was like, nah, I got my cane,
[18:17] Speaker 11: I got my mic I'm cool. I love he started
[18:20] Speaker 11: learning out DJ. I just ain't telling nobody listen. So
[18:24] Speaker 11: by the time I got out this is a crazy story.
[18:26] Speaker 11: This is actually how I got to La real quick.
[18:29] Speaker 11: I graduated in May twenty twelve, right, so at that
[18:34] Speaker 11: time I was still working in the city doing night
[18:36] Speaker 11: life as well, and I was also working at Radio one,
[18:39] Speaker 11: working at three point nine. So I would go back
[18:43] Speaker 11: to Virginia to do certain gigs and stuff, open up
[18:46] Speaker 11: concerts just to host that. At that time, I'm still
[18:48] Speaker 11: learning how to DJ, but it's just under the radar.
[18:50] Speaker 1: I love that. Yes, that's the story.
[18:52] Speaker 11: And I got hit up to do Kendrick Lamar's first
[18:57] Speaker 11: two dates on the Good Kid Mass the tour with
[19:00] Speaker 11: B Team Music Matters.
[19:03] Speaker 1: That's huge. So last shot of Howard, I'm fired up.
[19:06] Speaker 11: I'm like, I'm gonna just put myself on this tour.
[19:08] Speaker 9: I'm gonna figure that out.
[19:09] Speaker 11: Block make a long story short. The first the first
[19:13] Speaker 11: show is in Norfolk at the Nova in my hometown.
[19:16] Speaker 11: Second show was at the National and Richmond Wow. And
[19:19] Speaker 11: I ended up doing twenty three days on that tour.
[19:22] Speaker 1: So you had to kill it.
[19:24] Speaker 11: He was after that tour, I found myself in l
[19:26] Speaker 11: a Wow.
[19:27] Speaker 9: But the caveat to your question.
[19:30] Speaker 11: To answer your question, I was telling you I was
[19:33] Speaker 11: learning how to DJ. Yes, towards the end of that tour,
[19:35] Speaker 11: they didn't they didn't have a house DJ for like
[19:37] Speaker 11: the last shows, so instead of me hosting the DJ
[19:42] Speaker 11: and so it's like, can you can you play?
[19:45] Speaker 9: I was like, yeah, I could play it.
[19:47] Speaker 15: I'm like, oh.
[19:49] Speaker 7: Yeah, that's up. I could just you know what I'm saying,
[19:53] Speaker 7: I messed up.
[19:53] Speaker 11: I could just host and I could just carry the
[19:55] Speaker 11: show until and so it came out until Jay.
[19:57] Speaker 9: Rock, you know what I mean.
[19:59] Speaker 11: And that's literally how I found my passion and making
[20:05] Speaker 11: sure I could host and I could detail.
[20:07] Speaker 1: That's so dope what I'm saying.
[20:08] Speaker 11: Yeah, a lot of people know and a lot of
[20:11] Speaker 11: people don't know that I'm also an artist.
[20:13] Speaker 9: I'm also artists I'm also a producer. I'm also a songwriter.
[20:16] Speaker 1: You do everything. That's amazing, many talents. God took his
[20:19] Speaker 1: time on Jay Murphy Listen, listen, Hey, I'm with you.
[20:24] Speaker 11: And so you learn, you learn about the levels and
[20:28] Speaker 11: the parallels of how far your gifts can take you.
[20:31] Speaker 11: And so you just got to make sure you water
[20:33] Speaker 11: on your garden.
[20:34] Speaker 1: That's that's good.
[20:35] Speaker 11: That's what If you're not working your garden, you know
[20:37] Speaker 11: that dirt is gonna look dirty over there.
[20:39] Speaker 5: It ain't gonna look.
[20:40] Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying, pooful at all.
[20:42] Speaker 11: I'm learning that even to this to this day, I'm
[20:45] Speaker 11: still learning that, you know, despite my demand as a DJ,
[20:49] Speaker 11: despite the man.
[20:50] Speaker 9: To be here, to be aware.
[20:51] Speaker 11: It just like I have to prioritize taxically time to
[20:56] Speaker 11: evolve in what it's been gifted to me because people
[20:59] Speaker 11: look at me and you was just like, damn, I
[21:01] Speaker 11: wish I had the confidence, the boldness that the drive
[21:05] Speaker 11: the residents to be able to be in front of
[21:08] Speaker 11: cameras all day and be in front of people that
[21:09] Speaker 11: I don't know, people be having anxiety, you know what
[21:11] Speaker 11: I'm saying, but all the most excuses and they just
[21:15] Speaker 11: need to learn how to keep it positive.
[21:20] Speaker 1: I like what you did there. Keep it positive, Diy
[21:24] Speaker 1: and do the work. That's what you did.
[21:26] Speaker 2: Like, even when you were working, you were honing another
[21:28] Speaker 2: skill behind the scenes that is so important.
[21:30] Speaker 1: So when the moment came, you were ready.
[21:33] Speaker 11: You gotta stay ready.
[21:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, kids, family, I have it with me,
[21:38] Speaker 2: Jack Freeman.
[21:38] Speaker 1: We were here at the Media House.
[21:40] Speaker 2: So you're from Houston is big on music, yes, So
[21:43] Speaker 2: what was your inspiration growing up?
[21:47] Speaker 15: It was a lot of a lot of Donny Hathaway
[21:49] Speaker 15: getting played in the house.
[21:51] Speaker 9: Yes, D'Angelo, I'm a huge Rick James fan.
[21:55] Speaker 1: Really were you now dancing?
[21:58] Speaker 15: The most unheard human being I've ever seen in my life,
[22:01] Speaker 15: So huge, Rick James, Big, Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, Chaka Khan,
[22:07] Speaker 15: Whitney Houston.
[22:09] Speaker 9: A lot of gospel, a lot of Adams and.
[22:11] Speaker 15: Winings, Yeah, the Clark's sisters, all of that, and then
[22:15] Speaker 15: we got that Ace town that you know, a lot
[22:19] Speaker 15: of Zero and Slim Thug and Paul Swisher House, you know,
[22:23] Speaker 15: rap a lot.
[22:24] Speaker 9: You know a lot of those guys. Man. So it
[22:26] Speaker 9: was just all throughout the house.
[22:28] Speaker 15: And I have older siblings, so I got a lot
[22:32] Speaker 15: of their music taste, and my parents are in their
[22:35] Speaker 15: sixties and seventies, so I got their taste and then
[22:38] Speaker 15: I built my own.
[22:39] Speaker 1: I love it.
[22:39] Speaker 9: I think I'm the only one in the house that's
[22:41] Speaker 9: so big of a Rick James fan. That is ridiculous.
[22:43] Speaker 9: It's actually kind of kind of embarrassing a little bit.
[22:48] Speaker 1: I love that.
[22:49] Speaker 2: So you have your thirst two yeo album, Nina. Let's
[22:52] Speaker 2: talk about that in your single MVP Yes.
[22:54] Speaker 9: So.
[22:55] Speaker 15: The album is executive produced by another Houston native, Brian
[22:58] Speaker 15: Michael Cox.
[23:00] Speaker 9: Legendary, Brian Legendary, love his super producer. He just texted
[23:03] Speaker 9: me before I started.
[23:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, love him.
[23:05] Speaker 15: Yeah, I love that guy, Manu. The album has been
[23:08] Speaker 15: out since last February, but we're putting out a deluxe
[23:11] Speaker 15: this year. So we're on our third single, m v
[23:14] Speaker 15: P A debut on the on the Billboard tarts a
[23:15] Speaker 15: few weeks ago. It's my first Billboard charting.
[23:19] Speaker 2: Congratulations, thank you, thank you, thank you.
[23:22] Speaker 15: And we got a remix remix coming with Bunbe. We
[23:26] Speaker 15: got another remix coming with Big Crit too, so oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
[23:30] Speaker 15: you know what I'm saying. Big Crit killed it, Bunbe
[23:33] Speaker 15: killed it.
[23:34] Speaker 9: Man. Bumbe is like a It's like a true true
[23:38] Speaker 9: mentor to me.
[23:39] Speaker 15: I love it, love him man, having guys like him
[23:43] Speaker 15: and Brian in the corner. Man, it's just it's been
[23:45] Speaker 15: a great, great rioty the last couple of years.
[23:47] Speaker 1: No, that is incredible.
[23:48] Speaker 2: Absolutely, I love that I have it with me none
[23:52] Speaker 2: other than party up to Jada and swim.
[23:54] Speaker 1: How are y'all doing good? Good? Are you good?
[23:57] Speaker 2: What are some things that you've learned about yourself navigating
[24:00] Speaker 2: into adulthood?
[24:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, and navigating this industry.
[24:02] Speaker 16: Yeah, man, Honestly, the number one thing is just learn
[24:07] Speaker 16: like who I actually am, you know, being like a
[24:11] Speaker 16: child entertainer and singing songs and like talking about stuff
[24:14] Speaker 16: that you haven't even been through yet.
[24:16] Speaker 1: What's always like a disconnect from you.
[24:18] Speaker 16: So now like you know, making my own music and
[24:21] Speaker 16: taking inspiration from what I'm actually experiencing, it's different. And yeah,
[24:25] Speaker 16: it's so much fun making music with him because he's
[24:28] Speaker 16: my best friend, Like he knows everything about me, so
[24:31] Speaker 16: when we write together, it's like, yeah, it's just a
[24:33] Speaker 16: really safe space.
[24:34] Speaker 1: I love it.
[24:36] Speaker 2: Now, if there are some young young people who want
[24:38] Speaker 2: to be in the entertainment industry or want to be
[24:40] Speaker 2: in your shoes.
[24:40] Speaker 1: What is some advice that you would give them, I
[24:43] Speaker 1: would say, no, you're why, know your why.
[24:47] Speaker 5: The most important thing is you being yourself and you
[24:50] Speaker 5: being happy.
[24:52] Speaker 1: Don't chase success, don't chase fame.
[24:54] Speaker 5: Just chase creative freedom, passion and authenticity and you'll be fine.
[25:00] Speaker 1: That's so good. I love that. My friend, my hominge,
[25:04] Speaker 1: my day one, Ray Daniels, thank you for having me.
[25:07] Speaker 1: I feel like I'm like a real day one.
[25:09] Speaker 5: Like I'm I was just telling people, I'm like I
[25:11] Speaker 5: shot her first video song. We was like out there
[25:15] Speaker 5: trying to make it happen. So like watching you shine,
[25:18] Speaker 5: it's amazing because you always was the star. And the
[25:20] Speaker 5: thing that people don't know is that you played your role.
[25:23] Speaker 5: A lot of people that want to get up, like
[25:25] Speaker 5: because as you and my friend I knew you was
[25:27] Speaker 5: going to be an artist, but it wasn't like it
[25:29] Speaker 5: wasn't like you was like I.
[25:31] Speaker 1: Gotta have it. If I don't have it, I want nothing.
[25:32] Speaker 9: He was like, Ray, I'll just come hang out.
[25:34] Speaker 5: So I just want to give you prosper that for
[25:36] Speaker 5: the people that's watching you actually let God do the
[25:38] Speaker 5: work and now you're being blessed rather than trying to force.
[25:40] Speaker 1: Him to do the work.
[25:41] Speaker 5: Come on, come on, you know what I'm talking about.
[25:44] Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about, y'all. Ray Daniels, This
[25:47] Speaker 1: song I Love You was him. It's so only one way.
[25:55] Speaker 9: By the way, that song is such a slash.
[25:59] Speaker 5: Shake really shot the poocholl for showing up for the
[26:05] Speaker 5: video too.
[26:06] Speaker 7: You had connections.
[26:08] Speaker 1: That was guy. He'd be like, listen what you need?
[26:11] Speaker 1: I got it fun for writing it. It was man,
[26:13] Speaker 1: crazy crazy, crazy wow. Because music was your life.
[26:17] Speaker 5: Music, by the way, it still is. It's just I
[26:19] Speaker 5: have a different relationship with it. I think the relationship
[26:21] Speaker 5: that I have with it is the relationship necessary for
[26:24] Speaker 5: mental health because if you love it and music is
[26:28] Speaker 5: going through this transition period where now it's like it's
[26:31] Speaker 5: not even valued. It's like, just get somebody ten hours
[26:33] Speaker 5: a month. You can have every song in the world
[26:35] Speaker 5: that's made. So I think they're kind of treating music
[26:38] Speaker 5: like it's like background noise. And I'm not a background artist.
[26:42] Speaker 5: You know that about me. We're not background over here.
[26:44] Speaker 1: So you know, I started the podcast doing pretty good.
[26:46] Speaker 1: Let's talk about the podcast. Ray Daniels presents The God Show.
[26:51] Speaker 5: I so what I did was I created like a network.
[26:54] Speaker 5: So so I have the God Show, which is why
[26:56] Speaker 5: I interview people. I have an Artist Spotlight for upcoming
[26:58] Speaker 5: artist because artists still want to talk to me. I
[27:00] Speaker 5: have Best Debatable because I like to argue. You know
[27:04] Speaker 5: that about men. I love arguing. And then the last
[27:07] Speaker 5: one I got is the Radar Report, which is doing
[27:09] Speaker 5: the best right now because it's just me giving people
[27:12] Speaker 5: my personality. So I'm watching the podcast World Change, you
[27:16] Speaker 5: know what I'm talking about, Like it's like streaming is
[27:18] Speaker 5: becoming relevant. Like it's not about interviews, it's about you.
[27:22] Speaker 7: I want to know who you are.
[27:23] Speaker 5: So once you start understanding that is like you got
[27:26] Speaker 5: to give the world more you.
[27:27] Speaker 1: The people want to see you.
[27:29] Speaker 2: Well you notice that with my episodes, I can interview
[27:31] Speaker 2: some of the most amazing, fascinating people.
[27:33] Speaker 1: But when you get in front of that mic, they're
[27:34] Speaker 1: there for you.
[27:35] Speaker 5: Because the thing that I had to figure out is that,
[27:37] Speaker 5: let's say about artist on promo, right, and they do
[27:40] Speaker 5: fifty interviews in the market, like your interview is just
[27:43] Speaker 5: one to fifty, so it makes you different. So for me,
[27:45] Speaker 5: it was like and what I noticed that you notice
[27:48] Speaker 5: about me? Like when I interview, ice Cube, ll COOJ,
[27:50] Speaker 5: all these guys. After the interview, they all said the
[27:52] Speaker 5: same thing to me, I just want to.
[27:54] Speaker 9: Talk to you.
[27:54] Speaker 10: Wow.
[27:55] Speaker 5: I'm like, you know who I am. It was like, bro,
[27:57] Speaker 5: you spit the game. So I'm like, but the audience
[27:59] Speaker 5: is like, we don't want to hear you. We want
[28:00] Speaker 5: to hear them.
[28:01] Speaker 1: And I'm like, you know what, I don't get y'all.
[28:04] Speaker 1: And then I'm gonna talk my s over here. So
[28:06] Speaker 1: that's what I'm doing right now. So let's go. I
[28:09] Speaker 1: love by the way I'm just saying with you.
[28:10] Speaker 5: It's like, you know, they see you acting and they
[28:12] Speaker 5: see this, and then it's like they see you in
[28:14] Speaker 5: this character they fall in love with that, but now
[28:15] Speaker 5: they get to see the real person, and the real
[28:18] Speaker 5: person has always been a sweetheart. Like That's what It's
[28:20] Speaker 5: weird that when I see you famous, because I don't
[28:22] Speaker 5: see you as famous yet, like you're such like I
[28:26] Speaker 5: still remember the girl in the kitchen showed me she
[28:27] Speaker 5: could cook, Like Ray, I could cook, you don't know,
[28:30] Speaker 5: and I'm like, you can't cook.
[28:32] Speaker 1: You can't cook.
[28:32] Speaker 5: I'm like, you're pretty ass, can't cook?
[28:34] Speaker 4: Ray?
[28:34] Speaker 5: I get down, Yes, exactly what you said, you about
[28:36] Speaker 5: to say it with me, right, and you cook for it.
[28:39] Speaker 1: So you know, I'm just happy for you. Thank you
[28:41] Speaker 1: so much. I love it.
[28:42] Speaker 2: I'm just proud of your growth and you just incredible,
[28:45] Speaker 2: like you have.
[28:46] Speaker 1: Literally a lot of people.
[28:47] Speaker 2: Didn't believe me in that time, you know, so to
[28:49] Speaker 2: come to somebody and you just see me for.
[28:51] Speaker 5: Who I am, I can't believe Ayin. But by the way,
[28:53] Speaker 5: it's another thing. It's something about virgos in your life.
[28:56] Speaker 5: I'm a virgo.
[28:58] Speaker 9: A virgo.
[28:58] Speaker 5: It's crazy, And I thought I always thought about that
[29:00] Speaker 5: because you wasn't thirsty for you, wasn't trying. He saw
[29:04] Speaker 5: it in you like you're saying with me. It wasn't
[29:05] Speaker 5: like you was trying to put me on. You were
[29:07] Speaker 5: just hanging out every day. It was like we cut
[29:10] Speaker 5: a song on you. I'm putting you because you want
[29:12] Speaker 5: to empower the people who do it right, and most
[29:15] Speaker 5: of the time they empower the wrong people and then
[29:18] Speaker 5: we get the wrong out coming in with mad.
[29:19] Speaker 9: But like you got a thing with virgos, and we'll
[29:21] Speaker 9: let you know that.
[29:22] Speaker 14: Dude.
[29:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, I am sitting here with the beautiful, big, gorgeous
[29:26] Speaker 2: joy Taylor. Do you have a podcast, Yeah, too personal?
[29:29] Speaker 2: So we're I have a pod. This is my podcast
[29:32] Speaker 2: if I was a sweety. But like, it was so
[29:33] Speaker 2: funny because in the beginning I was like, I don't
[29:35] Speaker 2: want to talk about my personal stuff, and your show
[29:38] Speaker 2: is actually called it too personal?
[29:40] Speaker 1: How did you come up with that topic?
[29:42] Speaker 17: Well, because he wanted to, you know, share, I think
[29:48] Speaker 17: like you do, you know, you know doing your show
[29:50] Speaker 17: that the real thing that like connects us all is.
[29:53] Speaker 1: When we are vulnerable and when we.
[29:57] Speaker 17: Maybe tell things about ourselves that are a little and
[30:01] Speaker 17: or that the internet might hold on to forever, but
[30:05] Speaker 17: it reaches people in different ways, and you know, I
[30:10] Speaker 17: try to be as authentic as I can with Also,
[30:13] Speaker 17: obviously I'm sure you're this way as well. You have
[30:15] Speaker 17: things in your private life that you hold sacred absolutely.
[30:19] Speaker 17: But I think, especially like in the times that we're in,
[30:21] Speaker 17: we're all dealing with a lot, and it's kind of
[30:26] Speaker 17: nice to see that it's hard, you know, like we
[30:31] Speaker 17: don't all have it all together all the time. I
[30:33] Speaker 17: was talking about it this week. Yeah, I don't even
[30:35] Speaker 17: know what it looks like. I was talking about this
[30:36] Speaker 17: week that I'm really dealing with trying to remain empathetic,
[30:42] Speaker 17: like I'm very angry about a lot of things that
[30:45] Speaker 17: I feel like I have a right to be angry about.
[30:47] Speaker 17: But I'm also like it's hard every day the two
[30:50] Speaker 17: most powerful women in the world are fighting on social
[30:54] Speaker 17: media like children, We've got ice pulling people off the streets.
[31:00] Speaker 17: We've got gender wars, and the men are lonely. Like
[31:04] Speaker 17: it's always something. It's like, can we have a day?
[31:07] Speaker 17: Can we get a day?
[31:07] Speaker 1: It's a day? Can we get one day? Yes?
[31:10] Speaker 17: So you know, I'm it's it's And everyone didn't like that.
[31:13] Speaker 17: They're like, well, you're angry, Like, yeah, I am angry.
[31:15] Speaker 17: I'm angry. I am angry about a lot of things.
[31:18] Speaker 17: And it's now that's not cute, but it's true.
[31:21] Speaker 1: It's the truth.
[31:22] Speaker 2: And I mean, I feel like we're human and you
[31:24] Speaker 2: have to feel all those emotions, and a lot of
[31:26] Speaker 2: times we try to brust things under the rug or
[31:28] Speaker 2: be like I'm not feeling that. No you are, and
[31:30] Speaker 2: that's okay. You know you have to feel it so
[31:32] Speaker 2: you can get to the other side of it. Yes,
[31:33] Speaker 2: that's how I look at it.
[31:35] Speaker 17: Yeah, I mean feeling emotions like we all kind of
[31:39] Speaker 17: have to. I mean, managing your emotions and being an
[31:42] Speaker 17: emotionally disciplined person is just a part of being an adult.
[31:45] Speaker 1: Like you don't you.
[31:46] Speaker 17: Don't get to just crash out right, you want to know,
[31:50] Speaker 17: but it's it's a balance of saying attached to your
[31:54] Speaker 17: emotions while also moving through this very difficult, very intense,
[31:59] Speaker 17: very very you know negative world. Like negativity is what sells,
[32:05] Speaker 17: it's what gets the chitter chatter yep. Positivity can be
[32:09] Speaker 17: you know, searched for, but some of our most core
[32:13] Speaker 17: memories are overshadowed by the negative ones and the traumatic ones.
[32:17] Speaker 17: Like we just I think we feel we feel those
[32:20] Speaker 17: emotions more intensely, and sometimes that when we're happy or
[32:24] Speaker 17: we're at peace, there's, at least for me, there's like
[32:27] Speaker 17: this looming thing of like this is only temporary, but
[32:30] Speaker 17: when something bad is happening, it's like this will be forever.
[32:33] Speaker 1: Right, Why do we do that everything is going to pass?
[32:36] Speaker 1: That's real? Yeah, that is so true.
[32:38] Speaker 2: That's why I name this podcast Keep It Positive Sweetly
[32:41] Speaker 2: because there is so much negativity in the world, and
[32:43] Speaker 2: I'm so intentional about not using clickbait to make it
[32:47] Speaker 2: because a lot of people take like one thing you
[32:48] Speaker 2: say and twist.
[32:49] Speaker 1: And you're like, let's go listen to the whole thing.
[32:52] Speaker 1: That is not That's not what I said.
[32:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like so annoying when people do that, So
[32:57] Speaker 2: I'm very intentional about that to not be that person.
[33:00] Speaker 1: Hey guys, I'm here with Jay Run Now what's going on?
[33:03] Speaker 15: Jay?
[33:03] Speaker 1: How are you? I'm wonderful. I'm I'm doing like this
[33:07] Speaker 1: microphone says, and I'm doing my.
[33:08] Speaker 7: Best to keep it positive.
[33:10] Speaker 1: There you go.
[33:11] Speaker 2: You awesome part of Kanye West Sunday Service, which was
[33:14] Speaker 2: an incredible album. Time what a tie. Oh my gosh,
[33:19] Speaker 2: Like that music touched myself. It was like so so good.
[33:22] Speaker 1: Listen so good.
[33:23] Speaker 18: We appreciate everybody who still is even listening to that album.
[33:27] Speaker 18: You know, everybody's kind of in a different place in
[33:30] Speaker 18: their life at this point, right Hello, But you know,
[33:34] Speaker 18: so many of us that were in the choir we
[33:36] Speaker 18: still stay in contact. So many friendships made and and
[33:40] Speaker 18: you know, people working together.
[33:42] Speaker 1: So I will always cherish that time.
[33:45] Speaker 18: Yeah, and what we were able to do to kind
[33:47] Speaker 18: of inspire bringing the choirs back, especially being raised in
[33:50] Speaker 18: the church, being raised in the nineties early two thousands.
[33:54] Speaker 7: All the gospel of it all.
[33:55] Speaker 18: So yeah, to be able to help inspire and you know,
[34:00] Speaker 18: shift the culture a little bit, I love it.
[34:01] Speaker 1: I love that. Guys. I'm sitting here with the one,
[34:05] Speaker 1: the only, Kenyon Dixon. How are you feeling.
[34:07] Speaker 7: I'm good.
[34:08] Speaker 9: I'm good.
[34:08] Speaker 7: How you doing?
[34:09] Speaker 1: I'm good.
[34:09] Speaker 2: So how are you balancing being a family man and
[34:12] Speaker 2: working in this industry?
[34:14] Speaker 14: That's an incredible question. It's really just taking it day
[34:20] Speaker 14: by day. It's kind of hard to pinpoint the balance
[34:23] Speaker 14: because I'm living it in real time, you know what
[34:25] Speaker 14: I mean.
[34:26] Speaker 7: But I always think it's interesting.
[34:27] Speaker 14: Like my daughter, So I've been nominated for three Grammys,
[34:33] Speaker 14: every single Grammy Award, which has been back to back.
[34:36] Speaker 14: My daughter has come with me. She thinks that this
[34:39] Speaker 14: is a yearly thing. Now she doesn't understand it's connected
[34:42] Speaker 14: too if I get a nomination for something. So I
[34:45] Speaker 14: think stuff like that for me is it keeps me
[34:48] Speaker 14: grounded because it's so funny because we're you know, at
[34:51] Speaker 14: the Grammy's on the carpet, all dressed up, and then
[34:54] Speaker 14: it's like, by the end of the night, you're back
[34:56] Speaker 14: home like none of this ever happened. So I think
[34:58] Speaker 14: I keep those moments and those experiences with me just
[35:01] Speaker 14: to remind me of you know what I mean, the
[35:04] Speaker 14: full scope of life and the human experience really
