In Part 2 of this solo episode, Crystal talks about what it really means to expand with intention. From being multi-hyphenate, to maintaining privacy while building a public brand, to navigating purpose, faith, and the fear of oversaturation, this conversation is about alignment, timing, and trusting your own path. Because success isn’t about doing everything at once, it’s about doing the right things, in the right season. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Calling all my sweeties to the forefront. I'm your host,
[0:03] Speaker 1: Christophine and Hazel and this is to keep it positive.
[0:06] Speaker 1: Sweetish show.
[0:10] Speaker 2: Welcome to keep it positive, sweetye the place where we
[0:12] Speaker 2: he'll grow and learn together.
[0:14] Speaker 3: And we are back with part two.
[0:16] Speaker 2: You guys loved all that I shared about personal branding
[0:19] Speaker 2: and showing up, but I also get a lot of
[0:21] Speaker 2: questions about.
[0:22] Speaker 1: My business because I am a businesswoman.
[0:24] Speaker 2: Since I was younger, I used to always just know
[0:27] Speaker 2: that it could be done, but I do know that
[0:30] Speaker 2: it's not everyone's vantish point. So today's sweeties, we're talking
[0:33] Speaker 2: about doing it all and what that really looks like.
[0:37] Speaker 1: As I said in the last episode, a lot.
[0:39] Speaker 2: Of people feel like they need to have everything figured
[0:41] Speaker 2: out before they show up, and that is just not
[0:44] Speaker 2: the truth.
[0:45] Speaker 3: Oh, social media is popping.
[0:47] Speaker 4: We got you know, you're doing the work, you got
[0:49] Speaker 4: your team, But you are like that girl, Like you
[0:53] Speaker 4: are really that girl you are.
[0:57] Speaker 3: I mean you're everything.
[0:58] Speaker 4: You have fashion, act, singing, your hair, Caro Line, a
[1:02] Speaker 4: soccer team owner, you're investing, you have your foundation which
[1:05] Speaker 4: is focused on financial literacy, and I mean it's so
[1:08] Speaker 4: much unfolding. There's a phrase that people always say jack
[1:12] Speaker 4: of all trade, master of none, but your journey. I
[1:16] Speaker 4: just feel like that doesn't apply. So when you hear
[1:18] Speaker 4: that idea, especially as someone who's been able to build
[1:22] Speaker 4: excellent and I mean just amazing across platforms, what.
[1:25] Speaker 3: Do you say to that.
[1:27] Speaker 1: I got a scripture for you, the Good Book of Romans.
[1:31] Speaker 1: Come on now, chapter twelve. Let me open this thing up.
[1:37] Speaker 2: You got a scripture too, so Romans, Chapter twelve, verse six.
[1:43] Speaker 2: In his grace, God has given us different gifts to
[1:46] Speaker 2: do certain things well. So if God has given you
[1:49] Speaker 2: the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith
[1:53] Speaker 2: as God has given you. If your gift is serving others,
[1:55] Speaker 2: serve them well. If you're a teacher, teach well. If
[1:58] Speaker 2: your gift is to encourage, be encouraging. If your gift
[2:02] Speaker 2: is giving gift generously. If God has given you leadership ability,
[2:06] Speaker 2: take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift
[2:09] Speaker 2: for showing kindness, do it gladly. Don't pretend to love others,
[2:14] Speaker 2: really love them. Hate what is wrong, hold tightly to
[2:17] Speaker 2: what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and
[2:20] Speaker 2: take light in honoring each other. Don't be lazy, but
[2:24] Speaker 2: work hard. And serve the Lord enthusiastically.
[2:28] Speaker 1: Okay, I'm in the book. I'm in the book.
[2:32] Speaker 2: He says He's given us different gifts, so do them well.
[2:36] Speaker 2: So I don't believe in that. I'm not a monolith.
[2:40] Speaker 1: I don't subscribe to that.
[2:41] Speaker 2: You can't box me in, and anything I do, I'm
[2:44] Speaker 2: gonna do it well.
[2:45] Speaker 1: I'm not half aasking on anything.
[2:47] Speaker 2: So I feel like, if you're gonna do it and
[2:48] Speaker 2: God has given you the ability to do it, do
[2:50] Speaker 2: it well, and do it enthusiastically.
[2:53] Speaker 1: So I love that scripture.
[2:54] Speaker 2: I live by that, and I feel like anybody who
[2:57] Speaker 2: works with me knows like that is who I am.
[3:00] Speaker 1: Operated excellence or don't do it?
[3:03] Speaker 3: Yeah, do you think that you not mastered?
[3:07] Speaker 1: Maybe?
[3:07] Speaker 4: But is there a certain point to where you like
[3:10] Speaker 4: get somewhere and you say, Okay, I'm good. That's good
[3:13] Speaker 4: enough that I can go start a new thing, because
[3:15] Speaker 4: there is There are some people you look at and
[3:17] Speaker 4: you're like, day, ain't gonna started another thing. They ain't
[3:19] Speaker 4: even do the Yeah, what is the balance for that?
[3:23] Speaker 3: You think? For someone that's like, Okay.
[3:25] Speaker 4: I really like doing this, but now I kind of
[3:26] Speaker 4: want to do this, but I don't want to look,
[3:28] Speaker 4: what are your advice to them on that?
[3:30] Speaker 2: You know, you have to figure out there's a time
[3:34] Speaker 2: and place for everything. Figure out, okay, and this season,
[3:36] Speaker 2: I'm working on this, you know. And sometimes it's multiple
[3:39] Speaker 2: things that you're working on, but you're having to carve
[3:41] Speaker 2: out the time and really balance it all so that
[3:43] Speaker 2: nothing's getting left on the back burner.
[3:45] Speaker 1: For me, that back burner sometimes.
[3:47] Speaker 2: Music, I've been working on music for like two years now,
[3:49] Speaker 2: but it's like getting in the studio and then I
[3:52] Speaker 2: gotta go film or I gotta go travel. It's like
[3:53] Speaker 2: so many different things come up where it's like we
[3:56] Speaker 2: got to carve out the time to get back in
[3:57] Speaker 2: the studio.
[3:58] Speaker 1: So music has been that.
[3:59] Speaker 2: One thing where I'm like, I gotta like just carve
[4:02] Speaker 2: out the same way I do my blackout dates, I
[4:03] Speaker 2: have to carve out studio time dates so that we
[4:06] Speaker 2: can get some music done. But I feel like you
[4:10] Speaker 2: have to really just carve out the time for whatever
[4:13] Speaker 2: it is that you want to do. And if you
[4:14] Speaker 2: realize I'm not giving this one hundred percent, maybe that's
[4:17] Speaker 2: not the thing you need to be focused on.
[4:19] Speaker 3: You know.
[4:19] Speaker 2: And sometimes if it's just you, you gotta do what
[4:22] Speaker 2: you can do and know your limits. A lot of
[4:24] Speaker 2: times we put more on our plates than we can
[4:26] Speaker 2: actually eat, literally, and we need to know how to
[4:29] Speaker 2: course out those servings. Something a money from Culture kN
[4:31] Speaker 2: asked me. I went to do Culture Con last year
[4:34] Speaker 2: and she said, Crystal, how are you doing it all?
[4:36] Speaker 2: And I said, it's like dinner, you get different servings,
[4:40] Speaker 2: course it out. I was like, you're not gonna have
[4:42] Speaker 2: some people do You're not gonna have your your salad,
[4:46] Speaker 2: your meal, and your dessert all on one plate.
[4:48] Speaker 1: You're going to course it out.
[4:49] Speaker 2: So I think the main thing is understanding what serving
[4:53] Speaker 2: you are or what course you're on in your life.
[4:57] Speaker 4: I like that you reference the music and you know
[4:59] Speaker 4: the time span of you know, working on it, what
[5:03] Speaker 4: in you. But you're still a singer, right and people
[5:06] Speaker 4: still relate to you for the music. So was that
[5:10] Speaker 4: a defining moment for you or it's like, okay, I'm
[5:12] Speaker 4: doing acting. You felt weird calling yourself a singer mute?
[5:16] Speaker 4: Like was there ever a time for that? And people
[5:18] Speaker 4: that feel like that is your what can you encourage
[5:21] Speaker 4: them to like?
[5:21] Speaker 3: You still got it? You just got to do it,
[5:23] Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying no.
[5:25] Speaker 2: There wasn't ever a time where I didn't want to
[5:27] Speaker 2: call myself one or the other. It was more so
[5:29] Speaker 2: finding the time, you know. And I think it really
[5:32] Speaker 2: hit me when we had our live show in Washington,
[5:35] Speaker 2: DC last November and I was singing cover songs and
[5:38] Speaker 2: I told Deshaun and West, I was like, I don't
[5:40] Speaker 2: want to do this next time when we go on tour.
[5:42] Speaker 2: I want to have my own original music. So it
[5:43] Speaker 2: it almost to be like a live concert where I'm
[5:46] Speaker 2: putting out my own.
[5:47] Speaker 1: Music versus singing other people's music.
[5:48] Speaker 2: We can still incorporate other people's music because I'm influenced
[5:51] Speaker 2: by so many different people and I love all different
[5:53] Speaker 2: types of music, but it's something about having your own.
[5:56] Speaker 2: And I think in that moment, I realize now is
[5:58] Speaker 2: the time to focus on this.
[5:59] Speaker 1: But for me, I have to have that. I have
[6:02] Speaker 1: to have that function or like okay, it's time to go.
[6:05] Speaker 1: I have to feel it.
[6:06] Speaker 3: You know.
[6:06] Speaker 1: It's not just like Okay, I'm gonna get in the studio.
[6:08] Speaker 1: I can't do that. Like I have to feel.
[6:10] Speaker 2: And there's moments where I'm like, hey, Wes, we got
[6:13] Speaker 2: to go. You know where going to hit me. So
[6:16] Speaker 2: I think the main thing is just knowing that time.
[6:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good.
[6:23] Speaker 3: So how do you know?
[6:26] Speaker 4: How do you personally know when something is an extension
[6:28] Speaker 4: of your brand versus something you're interested in, which I
[6:30] Speaker 4: think again, you've done very well again from we talked
[6:33] Speaker 4: about posting in the last episode, about how your instagram
[6:37] Speaker 4: told the story and everything you know flew together came together.
[6:40] Speaker 3: But how do you know that? And when you feel that,
[6:45] Speaker 3: do you kind of just like it's a hobby?
[6:47] Speaker 1: Do you have hobbies? That's good?
[6:51] Speaker 3: I am.
[6:55] Speaker 2: How do I know if it's an extension of my
[6:57] Speaker 2: brand or if you just like just like it if
[7:02] Speaker 2: it's not something I organically do, it's an extension? You know,
[7:07] Speaker 2: I like a lot of things, but like, what is
[7:10] Speaker 2: a part of my brand? You see it in my
[7:12] Speaker 2: daily life, in my daily walk, and I think that's
[7:15] Speaker 2: how I can identify it. When people bring soup to me,
[7:17] Speaker 2: I'm like, is this something I actually do this? You know,
[7:19] Speaker 2: we had a meeting today and they were like, well,
[7:21] Speaker 2: we noticed you do this.
[7:21] Speaker 1: I'm like, oh yeah, like we could.
[7:23] Speaker 2: Do that too, because it is a part of who
[7:25] Speaker 2: I am, versus like, oh yeah, I like doing that.
[7:27] Speaker 2: But if I don't do it all the time, then
[7:29] Speaker 2: that's not really my thing.
[7:31] Speaker 4: Yeah, so you kind of covered it, but just like
[7:33] Speaker 4: to get a bit more specific for people that feel like,
[7:35] Speaker 4: again they're in that pressure tank, maybe this one thing
[7:38] Speaker 4: isn't making as much money as the other one. Have
[7:40] Speaker 4: you ever felt that you had to narrow it down
[7:44] Speaker 4: and when you felt like that, did you try it
[7:46] Speaker 4: and you were like no, y'all get me out this box?
[7:48] Speaker 4: Or like you said, are you storting out every time?
[7:52] Speaker 4: Are there different instances for that?
[7:54] Speaker 1: I think it depends on the season you are in
[7:56] Speaker 1: your life, you know.
[7:57] Speaker 2: I mean, and this is in so many areas, not
[7:59] Speaker 2: just work and building a brand. There's times where you're
[8:03] Speaker 2: focused on relationship love, whatever that may be. There's times
[8:06] Speaker 2: where you may be just focus on business and building
[8:09] Speaker 2: your brand and trying to get to where you're trying
[8:11] Speaker 2: to get to. There may be times where like I'm
[8:13] Speaker 2: in my saving season, you know, I'm trying to be
[8:15] Speaker 2: more physically responsible. There's times I feel like in every
[8:18] Speaker 2: season there's a time where you're focusing on one thing
[8:20] Speaker 2: more than the other. You know, and you may have
[8:22] Speaker 2: a lot of different things going on, but the main
[8:24] Speaker 2: thing is the main thing. If it's business, it's business,
[8:27] Speaker 2: you know. And for me being transparent, I realize, like
[8:33] Speaker 2: things take the back seat because I'm so driven on
[8:36] Speaker 2: my business.
[8:38] Speaker 1: Love takes a back seat.
[8:39] Speaker 2: I don't have the capacity for a lot of things
[8:43] Speaker 2: when I'm focused on this, you know, like, can't you
[8:45] Speaker 2: see what I got this?
[8:46] Speaker 1: This is I'm trying to stady for this, and I
[8:47] Speaker 1: got this. It's so many different things going on, but I.
[8:52] Speaker 2: Get fuel from it, you know, like I love all
[8:56] Speaker 2: the things happening, and it's like, Okay, we got this going,
[8:58] Speaker 2: we got this going on feet off of it. But
[9:01] Speaker 2: I noticed that when if I'm focused on one thing
[9:05] Speaker 2: too much, something is gonna take the backseat. And I
[9:09] Speaker 2: think as an entrepreneur, as anybody who's in business, you
[9:13] Speaker 2: kind of just become okay with that to an extent
[9:15] Speaker 2: and don't allow yourself to feel guilty about it, and
[9:18] Speaker 2: then just carve out seasons. We're like, okay, you no,
[9:20] Speaker 2: I've focused on that. Now I'm focused on this, you know.
[9:23] Speaker 2: So I don't know about like feeling boxing or just
[9:27] Speaker 2: focusing on one thing. I feel like it's just a
[9:31] Speaker 2: season for everything. Yeah, And I'm still struggling.
[9:34] Speaker 4: With that question, like are you just okay with it?
[9:36] Speaker 4: Because naturally that's just how things line up. Is if
[9:40] Speaker 4: you're giving one hundred and ten to something, something else
[9:43] Speaker 4: is gonna fall.
[9:44] Speaker 1: Yeah. You mean people always say you can't have it all.
[9:46] Speaker 3: You know, You're like, yes, I can.
[9:47] Speaker 1: No, you can't.
[9:48] Speaker 2: Something is you know, like you're gonna have to learn
[9:51] Speaker 2: to delegate or kind of back off of something to
[9:54] Speaker 2: make time for something else.
[9:56] Speaker 1: And it's something I struggle with.
[9:58] Speaker 2: I'm still struggling with it, you know, because things are
[10:01] Speaker 2: popping and like even like if you look at my schedule,
[10:04] Speaker 2: it's like every hour there's something like I had to
[10:07] Speaker 2: like I gotta got to be out here because I
[10:08] Speaker 2: got a study session at six, you know, like for
[10:11] Speaker 2: the moment I wake up, it's something happening, whether they
[10:14] Speaker 2: see it on the calend or not. Like I have
[10:16] Speaker 2: like everything is yeah, and I'm very detail oriented in
[10:21] Speaker 2: that way where like I have to write everything out.
[10:23] Speaker 1: I like to check it off.
[10:24] Speaker 2: It's something very satisfying when I cross it out that
[10:27] Speaker 2: I've completed it. But I'm so driven and the thing
[10:30] Speaker 2: that is feeding me right now is is me fulfilling
[10:34] Speaker 2: all my dreams and seeing it come true and seeing
[10:36] Speaker 2: my prayers being answered where nothing really can distract me
[10:40] Speaker 2: right now, you know. And I feel like it's been
[10:43] Speaker 2: like this for god the last six years really or
[10:49] Speaker 2: maybe honestly, no, last ten years. Yeah, since I was
[10:53] Speaker 2: like really started like living out my purpose and seeing
[10:58] Speaker 2: things finally happening, because you go through these seasons where
[11:00] Speaker 2: you're like, gosh, it's not happening. What is you know
[11:03] Speaker 2: what I'm saying, When is it gonna break? When am
[11:05] Speaker 2: I gonna have my moment? And then when it hits,
[11:07] Speaker 2: it's like, this is what I've been praying for.
[11:10] Speaker 1: I gotta hit it.
[11:11] Speaker 2: I gotta strike while the irons hot because one day
[11:13] Speaker 2: they're not gonna be called me. That that creeps in,
[11:16] Speaker 2: you know, and you're like, I gotta make sure that
[11:18] Speaker 2: I make every single moment count, so I don't.
[11:21] Speaker 1: I'm unapologetic about it. That's the season I'm living in.
[11:24] Speaker 1: But I also can be.
[11:27] Speaker 2: Honest and say that I am aware that certain aspects
[11:31] Speaker 2: of my life are taking a back seat.
[11:33] Speaker 4: We're gonna get to that, but before we get off
[11:35] Speaker 4: of that, I am always just so intrigued by actresses
[11:39] Speaker 4: and things because I'm like they really are remembering all
[11:42] Speaker 4: of these lines like you are. I don't think people
[11:44] Speaker 4: understand the intensity of being a star of your caliber
[11:50] Speaker 4: and what that looks like.
[11:51] Speaker 3: So being a businesswoman and then you have this creative side,
[11:56] Speaker 3: how how do do you practice any my?
[12:00] Speaker 4: I guess how could someone that's like, I'm a creative
[12:02] Speaker 4: but I'm also a business person?
[12:04] Speaker 3: How do you what do you practice to.
[12:08] Speaker 4: I guess not shut off the business side when you're
[12:10] Speaker 4: in that mode, But I mean, you couldn't be thinking
[12:11] Speaker 4: about all these thousand things on set, So what does
[12:13] Speaker 4: that look like for you?
[12:14] Speaker 1: But I do you do?
[12:16] Speaker 2: I'll be on the side like really, yeah, I mean
[12:19] Speaker 2: it's just a part of it. I mean heavy is
[12:22] Speaker 2: the crown, you know, Heavy is the head that where
[12:24] Speaker 2: is the crown?
[12:27] Speaker 1: And it paid? You got to pay the cost to
[12:29] Speaker 1: be the boss.
[12:30] Speaker 2: And sometimes while you're working on one passion, this ain't stopping,
[12:34] Speaker 2: you know, so like things still have to happen.
[12:36] Speaker 1: So I think.
[12:39] Speaker 2: For me, like even right now, like I start filming
[12:42] Speaker 2: next week. Normally I shut everything down like the two
[12:45] Speaker 2: weeks leading up, but my schedule has been so busy
[12:48] Speaker 2: I haven't been given that to be able to like
[12:51] Speaker 2: just shut down, so scheduling, making sure that Okay, when
[12:55] Speaker 2: I leave here, I'm carving out my two hours. When
[12:57] Speaker 2: I wake up, I'm studying, so like in order to
[13:00] Speaker 2: fit in what I need to fit in, so that
[13:02] Speaker 2: while I'm filming, everything is taken care of. I have
[13:05] Speaker 2: to sacrifice and really like make how they always say
[13:08] Speaker 2: you and Beyonce had the same amount of hours in
[13:10] Speaker 2: the day. I have to make sure that I maximize
[13:13] Speaker 2: every single hour, and it is hard. Sometimes It's like
[13:18] Speaker 2: I had to spray magnesium on my hands and feet
[13:20] Speaker 2: every night just to shut my brain down because I
[13:23] Speaker 2: will be running lines in my sleep, like close my
[13:26] Speaker 2: eyes and like Angela, and I'm like, what is happening?
[13:33] Speaker 2: Because these I mean, I have twenty episodes. Sisters is
[13:36] Speaker 2: twenty two episodes.
[13:37] Speaker 1: And these words.
[13:38] Speaker 2: I had to know all these lines because on day one,
[13:40] Speaker 2: I'm shooting from episode one to episode nineteen. So it's
[13:44] Speaker 2: not like, Okay, I know this day, I'm just gonna
[13:45] Speaker 2: have to know these five episodes. No, I have to
[13:48] Speaker 2: know all twenty Like it's a lot of information. Then
[13:50] Speaker 2: I have to come and have a conversation with you
[13:52] Speaker 2: while I'm still trying to hold all this information I've
[13:54] Speaker 2: been memorizing for the last month.
[13:57] Speaker 1: So that when I get on set, I can live
[13:59] Speaker 1: in it.
[14:00] Speaker 2: I feel like I'm reciting and reading off piece of paper.
[14:02] Speaker 2: So it is so much that goes into it that
[14:05] Speaker 2: people don't. They look like, Oh, she's just easy.
[14:07] Speaker 1: It's no.
[14:08] Speaker 2: It's a lot of hard work and a lot of preparation,
[14:11] Speaker 2: a lot of focus, and to even be who I
[14:14] Speaker 2: am and be this character that people have fallen in
[14:17] Speaker 2: love with takes a level of being able to shut
[14:21] Speaker 2: out everything that is going on and be present on
[14:23] Speaker 2: that set, to be able to evoke the emotion that
[14:26] Speaker 2: makes people be like, oh my god, I really feel her.
[14:28] Speaker 2: I see what she's going through, but they don't know
[14:31] Speaker 2: the things I've had to shut out in real life
[14:33] Speaker 2: to be able to tap into that to give that emotion,
[14:36] Speaker 2: you know. And I recently I remember doing a scene
[14:41] Speaker 2: and as I was talking, I was speaking to the
[14:45] Speaker 2: character and y kJ Smith, and I was so present
[14:49] Speaker 2: in it, I didn't realize that the character was speaking
[14:52] Speaker 2: to Crystal, and I could see myself.
[14:54] Speaker 1: I'm like, this is me and I literally was like
[14:56] Speaker 1: tearing up and then there's are you crying?
[14:57] Speaker 2: I'm like yeah, but I was so present because I
[15:00] Speaker 2: was able to shut everything out and really like sit
[15:03] Speaker 2: in it. And it happened so many times because I
[15:05] Speaker 2: was able to finally just like be and not have
[15:08] Speaker 2: to feel like, Okay, I gotta I gotta do everything.
[15:10] Speaker 2: And I was able to kind of okay, when I'm
[15:12] Speaker 2: in the chair just having a little break, I can
[15:15] Speaker 2: take my text messages and like everything good, all right,
[15:17] Speaker 2: whatever the case may be.
[15:18] Speaker 1: But it's it's a lot to be able to shut
[15:21] Speaker 1: it off.
[15:22] Speaker 3: It is season. It was season that comes from the
[15:26] Speaker 3: reps because you have the reps.
[15:27] Speaker 2: Yes, I'm a girl, so I love repetition, like that's
[15:30] Speaker 2: how I learned everything. And thank God to have a
[15:33] Speaker 2: photographic memory. I can like see the lines on the
[15:35] Speaker 2: pages like ash. I can know like for the page
[15:38] Speaker 2: because I can see it.
[15:46] Speaker 4: So you talk about we talked about how things I've
[15:50] Speaker 4: gone to back burner, right, and you talk I think
[15:54] Speaker 4: you're doing really well about being transparent. People feel like
[15:57] Speaker 4: they know you, but at the same time, it's like, y'all,
[16:00] Speaker 4: I don't know my business for real. So your circle
[16:03] Speaker 4: is tight if you know, you know all those things.
[16:05] Speaker 4: How have you been able to be so transparent and
[16:09] Speaker 4: relatable while still maintaining that privacy.
[16:14] Speaker 2: You have the right to tell people what you want
[16:16] Speaker 2: to tell them, you know, and I think that you
[16:20] Speaker 2: have to make a conscious decision what you want to share.
[16:24] Speaker 1: Everything isn't for everybody.
[16:25] Speaker 2: And I'm very intentional about the things that i want
[16:27] Speaker 2: to hold close to my heart, and that's my relationship
[16:30] Speaker 2: whoever I'm in a relationship with until I'm ready to
[16:33] Speaker 2: share that, if I'm even in a relationship, you know.
[16:37] Speaker 2: Those are things that I think I had to learn
[16:40] Speaker 2: the hard way because I was such an open book
[16:42] Speaker 2: at one point, and then I realized I share so
[16:45] Speaker 2: much certain things. It's okay to keep it to yourself, Crystal,
[16:47] Speaker 2: And it's not being secretive, it's just no, I just
[16:52] Speaker 2: it's not your business, honestly, you know. And until I'm
[16:55] Speaker 2: ready to share those things, I feel like it's okay.
[16:57] Speaker 2: And what I've noticed is that it keeps peace in
[16:59] Speaker 2: those relationships. There's less distractions and less input from people
[17:04] Speaker 2: who aren't even in it, you know, so that you
[17:07] Speaker 2: can actually get to know the person for yourself.
[17:09] Speaker 1: And I think that's very important.
[17:11] Speaker 2: But it's really just figuring out, Okay, what do I
[17:15] Speaker 2: want to share, and I am I'm an open book
[17:17] Speaker 2: about what I'm going through.
[17:20] Speaker 1: I'm an open book about business.
[17:21] Speaker 2: I'm an open book about where I am in my faith,
[17:24] Speaker 2: walk my you know what I'm saying. When I backslide,
[17:27] Speaker 2: when I pick it up and figure it out again,
[17:29] Speaker 2: you know. And I think it's important to show people
[17:32] Speaker 2: the human side of you. But showing people who you
[17:34] Speaker 2: are doesn't always mean you got to like disclose everything.
[17:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good.
[17:41] Speaker 4: I feel like your discernment is very, very high and
[17:44] Speaker 4: very good for someone that feels like maybe they aren't
[17:47] Speaker 4: practicing that will or you know, they don't know what
[17:49] Speaker 4: discernment is or is that something you think that you're
[17:52] Speaker 4: born with or you think it's something that life or
[17:55] Speaker 4: do you think it's something that can be I guess
[17:58] Speaker 4: created or cultivated it.
[17:59] Speaker 2: So, honestly, for me, I feel like every woman is
[18:04] Speaker 2: born with their gut, instincts or intuition as they say,
[18:08] Speaker 2: I believe that is a gift that we've been given.
[18:10] Speaker 2: But when it comes to discernment, for me, that has
[18:13] Speaker 2: been with my growth in my relationship with God and
[18:16] Speaker 2: having that constant conversation and communication with Him to like know,
[18:23] Speaker 2: like okay, this is for me or I have a
[18:24] Speaker 2: good feeling about this.
[18:26] Speaker 1: What I do know is that God is not the
[18:27] Speaker 1: author of confusion.
[18:28] Speaker 2: So anytime I feel a little confusion about it, I
[18:31] Speaker 2: take a seatback, you know. But I don't know if
[18:34] Speaker 2: it's something that can be taught definitely can be cultivated
[18:37] Speaker 2: through For me, I don't know what everybody else's experience
[18:39] Speaker 2: has been, but for me, it's been cultivated in my
[18:41] Speaker 2: relationship with Christ.
[18:42] Speaker 1: But I will say, you can go through things and
[18:45] Speaker 1: still not learn a lesson.
[18:46] Speaker 2: And I think we've all been there where we like,
[18:49] Speaker 2: you know again, it's like how did I get Lord?
[18:52] Speaker 2: I told you if you got me out this last,
[18:54] Speaker 2: I wouldn't do it again, and here we go, you know.
[18:56] Speaker 2: So I don't think it's one of those things that
[18:57] Speaker 2: it can be taught. I do feel like experience is
[19:02] Speaker 2: a great lesson for a lot of people, but that
[19:04] Speaker 2: doesn't necessarily build discernment.
[19:07] Speaker 4: Yeah, we talk about like being not being transparent, and
[19:13] Speaker 4: you know, I mean about being transparent for those people
[19:16] Speaker 4: that just like, okay, I want to be popping. And
[19:19] Speaker 4: we see online people are like speeling their whole you know, everybody,
[19:22] Speaker 4: you know, they hold all the tea, Right, Yeah, what
[19:27] Speaker 4: would you say the people who want to maintain privacy
[19:29] Speaker 4: but still want to build real connection online, Because again
[19:32] Speaker 4: I think you do very well at that. But then
[19:34] Speaker 4: there's the flip side of people that have I mean,
[19:37] Speaker 4: we know A to Z the whole story, right, and
[19:39] Speaker 4: some people just not like that, but they still want
[19:41] Speaker 4: to show up and connect and do that.
[19:43] Speaker 3: What is some of your advice to them?
[19:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, and not say to each his own, you know, like,
[19:48] Speaker 2: if that's what you want to do, that's what you
[19:50] Speaker 2: want to do. And for some people it works, you know,
[19:52] Speaker 2: but for me, I feel like for the person who
[19:56] Speaker 2: wants to you know what I'm saying, have that presence
[20:00] Speaker 2: online and share some things figuring out is what you
[20:03] Speaker 2: want to share. Set your boundaries, Like if you do
[20:06] Speaker 2: want to keep certain things private, just know that, hey,
[20:08] Speaker 2: I'm not crossing this line.
[20:09] Speaker 1: I'm not going to talk about this. This is off
[20:10] Speaker 1: the table.
[20:11] Speaker 3: Even when you do.
[20:12] Speaker 1: Interviews, just let people know, hey, I don't want to
[20:14] Speaker 1: talk about this. We can talk about that.
[20:18] Speaker 2: But yeah, I feel like just setting your boundaries with
[20:20] Speaker 2: yourself is the main thing. But honestly, when you get
[20:27] Speaker 2: on there, like it's just a lot like I don't
[20:29] Speaker 2: think everybody needs to know everything. You know, is it
[20:32] Speaker 2: going to help anybody when they finish watching this video?
[20:35] Speaker 2: Are they going to be impacted for the better or
[20:38] Speaker 2: is it going to push and to go do something
[20:39] Speaker 2: that they shouldn't do. I think carrying that responsibility when
[20:44] Speaker 2: you get on the phone or get on a microphone,
[20:47] Speaker 2: whatever the case may be, thinking about how it's going
[20:50] Speaker 2: to be received on the other side is very important.
[20:53] Speaker 1: That's good.
[20:54] Speaker 4: So this is Susney Levin Keep It Positive, Sweetie. That's
[20:59] Speaker 4: big CONGUTSI thank you, thank you, thank you right to
[21:03] Speaker 4: the sweeties. So I'm not gonna say you were one
[21:06] Speaker 4: of the you were the first, of course, but I
[21:08] Speaker 4: think that you made us women feel very confident and
[21:14] Speaker 4: boldly about just sharing about Christ and what God was
[21:17] Speaker 4: doing and all these things when you first came up
[21:20] Speaker 4: with Keep It Positive, Sweetie, and it was cool, like
[21:23] Speaker 4: I said, to scroll back and see you like say
[21:25] Speaker 4: I got some for y'all, I got some for y'all,
[21:27] Speaker 4: and just saying like the graphics shange and all those
[21:30] Speaker 4: things we talked about on the previous episode.
[21:32] Speaker 1: Did you.
[21:34] Speaker 3: Of course you're a big dreamer and stuff, but did
[21:36] Speaker 3: you see eleven seasons.
[21:38] Speaker 1: Girl, I didn't even see the first season. Somebody had
[21:40] Speaker 1: to show it to me. I was like, a podcast.
[21:43] Speaker 2: I don't know about that because I was such a
[21:46] Speaker 2: private person. And it was Devel who brought it to
[21:50] Speaker 2: my attention. When he looked at my social media, he
[21:52] Speaker 2: was like, I really don't.
[21:53] Speaker 1: Know who you are.
[21:54] Speaker 2: He's like, you have these cool videos, like I know
[21:56] Speaker 2: you'd like to cook, you like do your hair and makeup,
[21:57] Speaker 2: but it's all like voiceovers. Really seeing your personality and
[22:01] Speaker 2: he said, and you are really dope and funny.
[22:03] Speaker 1: He said, you know how funny you are. And I'm like,
[22:05] Speaker 1: I've been.
[22:06] Speaker 2: Telling people I'm funny and he was like, nah, for
[22:09] Speaker 2: you need to show more your personality. And then when
[22:13] Speaker 2: it came to the podcast, my manager at the time,
[22:15] Speaker 2: she was like, it's time and I.
[22:16] Speaker 1: Was like, I don't know if I'm ready for that.
[22:19] Speaker 2: That's a lot, you know, and it is a lot
[22:21] Speaker 2: of transparency, a lot of sharing and moments that I
[22:25] Speaker 2: had to be ready to share. You know, that wouldn't
[22:28] Speaker 2: only impact me. They impacted people that may be on
[22:31] Speaker 2: the other side of that story, you know. So when
[22:33] Speaker 2: we talked about that, you would writing a book. So, yeah,
[22:38] Speaker 2: I eleven seasons. I don't know if I can say
[22:41] Speaker 2: that I actually saw that in the future. I'm grateful
[22:44] Speaker 2: for what we have built with this platform, but even
[22:48] Speaker 2: getting season one was a lot for me.
[22:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, what made you say yes?
[22:54] Speaker 1: Though?
[22:54] Speaker 4: Of course the balance, But what made you actually like
[22:56] Speaker 4: hit it, like Okay, let's get the cameras, let's get
[22:59] Speaker 4: the art.
[22:59] Speaker 1: Like what made you go there? I think it was
[23:03] Speaker 1: praying about it and saying, hey, like is this something
[23:05] Speaker 1: I really want to do? And can I do it well?
[23:08] Speaker 1: You know, and how am I going to go about it?
[23:10] Speaker 2: Because for me, I always want to do things different,
[23:12] Speaker 2: Like I don't want to do exactly what everybody else
[23:14] Speaker 2: is doing. So I went into it with the intention
[23:17] Speaker 2: of wanting a talk show. Oprah Winfrey has been one
[23:20] Speaker 2: of my north stars since I was a kid, and
[23:24] Speaker 2: it was something about this opportunity building something. It's been
[23:28] Speaker 2: like that since day one, like doing it before, like
[23:31] Speaker 2: giving this the proof of concept, you know. So everything
[23:33] Speaker 2: I've done kind of even with doing my hair, was
[23:36] Speaker 2: a proof of concept for what I have now.
[23:39] Speaker 1: So I feel like.
[23:41] Speaker 2: The thought of like, you know, this is something that
[23:43] Speaker 2: you've been wanting to do do it this way, you know,
[23:46] Speaker 2: it doesn't have to be like the traditional podcast.
[23:49] Speaker 1: So I think that was the thing that really won
[23:52] Speaker 1: being ready to open up, because.
[23:53] Speaker 2: You have to have a level of transparency to do
[23:55] Speaker 2: a podcast, unless you're just talking to other people and.
[23:57] Speaker 1: Them telling their business.
[23:58] Speaker 2: Wish we could have done that too. I think for
[24:00] Speaker 2: them to draw to you and relate to you have
[24:02] Speaker 2: to share something.
[24:04] Speaker 4: And so again, like it's faith based, it's about God,
[24:07] Speaker 4: it's about your walk, it's about people.
[24:10] Speaker 3: Talking about that and about purpose and things like that.
[24:13] Speaker 2: And so people do want to say they didn't it
[24:15] Speaker 2: didn't start off like that. Like I was always a
[24:17] Speaker 2: foundation of it. But I had in the season one
[24:20] Speaker 2: I had watched Jazzy. We were talking about body counting,
[24:23] Speaker 2: whole phases and who else did I have on there
[24:29] Speaker 2: was a little controversial.
[24:30] Speaker 3: I'm trying to think, Yeah, the watch Jazzy episode was
[24:34] Speaker 3: who I said, yeah.
[24:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, and then the girl Talk episode with three of
[24:38] Speaker 1: my homegirls.
[24:39] Speaker 3: So how did that shift?
[24:41] Speaker 2: I think one, my relationship with God grew and then
[24:46] Speaker 2: taking that seriously, you know, and understanding if you're gonna
[24:49] Speaker 2: proclaim my name, I need you to I need to
[24:52] Speaker 2: see that, I need to see it in the fruit
[24:54] Speaker 2: of your actions.
[24:54] Speaker 1: I need to see it. I need people to see
[24:56] Speaker 1: it on you and I just I took They're very serious,
[25:01] Speaker 1: you know, and I'm one thing I don't play that
[25:02] Speaker 1: I don't play by God.
[25:03] Speaker 2: And it was like, if I'm gonna do it, like
[25:05] Speaker 2: there's I feel like there's a way that I could
[25:06] Speaker 2: still be who God created me to be in my
[25:09] Speaker 2: own lane where I don't have to be shout out
[25:12] Speaker 2: to my big sister Sarah Jakes Roberts, I don't have
[25:14] Speaker 2: to be a Sjar, you know, like she does her thing.
[25:17] Speaker 2: I don't have to be at Tasha Cobbs, you know.
[25:19] Speaker 2: Like there's so many women in the face based space.
[25:22] Speaker 2: They are who they are. But I'm Crystal and I
[25:24] Speaker 2: can do it the way I do it. And even
[25:26] Speaker 2: Sarah help me see that. She was like Crystal, she
[25:29] Speaker 2: was like, you are you, but all these women they're
[25:31] Speaker 2: here for you, you know. So She's like, there's something
[25:34] Speaker 2: that you're doing that is still doing the job. So
[25:37] Speaker 2: understanding my lane and figuring out which I think everybody
[25:40] Speaker 2: has to kind of figure out where do they fit
[25:41] Speaker 2: in whatever lane they're trying to pursue, And for me,
[25:44] Speaker 2: it was like, God, where do I fit in in
[25:46] Speaker 2: this space where I don't feel like I'm losing myself
[25:49] Speaker 2: but I'm honoring you.
[25:50] Speaker 1: And I feel like there is parts of me that
[25:52] Speaker 1: had to die naturally.
[25:54] Speaker 2: To honor him the way he needs to be honored,
[25:57] Speaker 2: but to not lose like my wit and lose like
[26:00] Speaker 2: the parts of me that people just like, Oh my God,
[26:02] Speaker 2: I love that about her. She's so real and understanding that,
[26:06] Speaker 2: like he knows who I am and this is how
[26:08] Speaker 2: he made me. And I'm just gonna walk in that,
[26:10] Speaker 2: you know, and give him the glory and speak his
[26:12] Speaker 2: name so that people can be drawn to him.
[26:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, And I'm sure that ties to my next question
[26:18] Speaker 4: because again, like you said, it didn't start off like that.
[26:21] Speaker 4: You wanted to keep it positive, but you wanted to
[26:23] Speaker 4: have the good talk and be relatable and things like that.
[26:25] Speaker 4: And it's kind of cultivated into this massive thing, right,
[26:30] Speaker 4: and where God is definitely getting the glory every time.
[26:34] Speaker 3: But on our algorithm now, of course you know we
[26:36] Speaker 3: type it in.
[26:36] Speaker 4: Now you're gonna start seeing all just the way the
[26:38] Speaker 4: algorithm rights. You'll start seeing all this Christian based trends
[26:41] Speaker 4: and all these things. And i hate to call it
[26:43] Speaker 4: a trend or exploitation, but some of.
[26:46] Speaker 2: It is right because some people just get on and
[26:48] Speaker 2: and like you come on, now, you know you just
[26:52] Speaker 2: doing this because it's popular, Like you can tell, like
[26:56] Speaker 2: what do you like?
[26:56] Speaker 1: That's not even who you are?
[26:57] Speaker 2: Stop like stop playing, like literally stop playing. And I
[27:01] Speaker 2: think that you have to be careful because a lot
[27:04] Speaker 2: of people try to make.
[27:06] Speaker 1: Being a Christian.
[27:09] Speaker 2: Transactional or like, oh, this is what's popping right now,
[27:12] Speaker 2: let me hop on this. Like you, it really needs
[27:14] Speaker 2: to be a part of who you are, and God knows,
[27:17] Speaker 2: you know, it's only so long you can fake it,
[27:18] Speaker 2: like with anything else. So I think when people do that,
[27:21] Speaker 2: you gotta be really careful with that.
[27:23] Speaker 1: That's not something to play with.
[27:24] Speaker 4: Yeah, And that's what I was going to ask you
[27:26] Speaker 4: when you when you see that, and I mean, especially
[27:29] Speaker 4: being so inner circle and knowing that, how do you
[27:33] Speaker 4: for the person that's watching that, What are your thoughts
[27:36] Speaker 4: to them? What are your things to them? Because again,
[27:38] Speaker 4: sometimes it's like you can get the message maybe not
[27:41] Speaker 4: the right messenger, So you know, what are your thoughts
[27:43] Speaker 4: on that? And knowing like right, but you saying you
[27:46] Speaker 4: may be saying the right thing. You may be saying
[27:49] Speaker 4: the word, you may be delivering the message, but it's
[27:52] Speaker 4: just like that messenger islet.
[27:57] Speaker 1: I think it's a fine line of.
[28:01] Speaker 2: Not judging people, you know, because God could truly be
[28:03] Speaker 2: working on somebody's heart. They just might not be dressed
[28:06] Speaker 2: the way we think they should be. Like I've seen
[28:08] Speaker 2: people online speaking the word in the book, but.
[28:12] Speaker 1: Everything's out.
[28:13] Speaker 2: It's like what we doing, you know, Like it's like
[28:16] Speaker 2: I feel like there'sul be reverence, you know, when you
[28:19] Speaker 2: are doing whatever you're doing in the name of God.
[28:23] Speaker 2: But I feel like we can't be judgmental. We've all
[28:27] Speaker 2: like for me, I know, like we talked about things
[28:29] Speaker 2: of archives. There was a lot of stuff that I
[28:32] Speaker 2: used to pose that was very risque, thirst trapish, you know,
[28:36] Speaker 2: and when I went through, like those are things I
[28:38] Speaker 2: did clean off my page as I began to take
[28:41] Speaker 2: it serious one because there's so many little girls that
[28:43] Speaker 2: are following me. I don't want them feeling like this
[28:45] Speaker 2: is what you're supposed to do because they're like, oh,
[28:47] Speaker 2: Chris is doing it. Oh, I'm gonna go take this
[28:49] Speaker 2: bathing suit picture. I'm gonna show my ass whatever the case.
[28:51] Speaker 2: A and B I didn't want to be that example
[28:53] Speaker 2: for them. I wanted to be the example of a
[28:55] Speaker 2: woman who dresses modestly, you know, but still fly.
[29:01] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
[29:02] Speaker 2: My Mama always tell me, Crystal shows, you gotta let
[29:06] Speaker 2: everything hang out, you know what I'm saying, Like, if
[29:07] Speaker 2: you're gonna show a little top, be covered at the bosom,
[29:10] Speaker 2: you're gonna show a little leg, be covered at the top,
[29:12] Speaker 2: like you're gonna have your back out.
[29:13] Speaker 1: Everything don't have to be out, you know.
[29:14] Speaker 2: And I feel like there's a tasteful way to do
[29:16] Speaker 2: everything when it comes to being dressed. But when we
[29:19] Speaker 2: get online and we see people online and we're like,
[29:22] Speaker 2: I don't know. All I do is pray, like God,
[29:25] Speaker 2: if this person is really speaking for you and it's genuine.
[29:29] Speaker 2: Just because I've been there, I know the transformation that
[29:32] Speaker 2: God can do in people. Even I could be in
[29:34] Speaker 2: church every Sunday Saturday. All might have been smoking, doing edibles, partying,
[29:41] Speaker 2: getting drunk, whatever the case may be. But I was
[29:43] Speaker 2: still going to church, praising the Lord every Sunday, tithing.
[29:46] Speaker 2: But it was something about cultivating and refining that relationship
[29:50] Speaker 2: where God started to change me. And then I started
[29:53] Speaker 2: being more mindful about how I dress, where I hung out,
[29:56] Speaker 2: say no to drugs, and really being that example of
[29:59] Speaker 2: who he is and showing people, Yo, you can be
[30:01] Speaker 2: popping as country Wayne say, Jesus is happening, and like
[30:05] Speaker 2: knowing that, like your life can be blessed and you
[30:08] Speaker 2: can live an amazing life and honor him in the
[30:11] Speaker 2: same way. I think we kind of get caught up
[30:14] Speaker 2: in what that looks like and forget about the come
[30:16] Speaker 2: as you are.
[30:18] Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think that that kind of shows just
[30:19] Speaker 4: on some the several guests you've had in the conversations
[30:22] Speaker 4: that have come from those things. And so how in
[30:26] Speaker 4: this when we go back to you being as business
[30:29] Speaker 4: woman and I mean you're in some really major spaces
[30:32] Speaker 4: where people don't even maybe talk about religion or talk
[30:36] Speaker 4: about God.
[30:37] Speaker 3: How are you maneuvering through that? And how are you.
[30:42] Speaker 4: How are you I guess you know, moving moving through
[30:45] Speaker 4: that and knowing like, Okay, maybe they might not even
[30:48] Speaker 4: have a religion or have these things. Does that impact
[30:51] Speaker 4: how you move if God says okay, you still good?
[30:54] Speaker 4: Or is it all have to be based on that?
[30:56] Speaker 4: And what does that look like?
[30:57] Speaker 2: That's a really good question when it comes to being
[31:00] Speaker 2: in rooms. I always look at Jesus. He hung out
[31:03] Speaker 2: with people that the Pharisees and satt she's judged him
[31:06] Speaker 2: for why are.
[31:07] Speaker 1: You hanging out with him? He's a thief? And why
[31:09] Speaker 1: are you hanging He was a killer, he's an adulterer.
[31:11] Speaker 1: And the thing is is that.
[31:15] Speaker 2: Jesus would tell stories, he would be who he is,
[31:17] Speaker 2: his light would shine, but he would never judge them.
[31:21] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
[31:22] Speaker 2: He always was welcoming and what ends up happening. I
[31:24] Speaker 2: don't have to shove it down their throat. They're gonna
[31:28] Speaker 2: see the light on me.
[31:29] Speaker 1: You know.
[31:29] Speaker 2: Sometimes it's just being in your presence where it's like, yo,
[31:32] Speaker 2: it is something about this girl, she got it, and
[31:34] Speaker 2: then the conversation is naturally gonna come up, you know.
[31:37] Speaker 1: And even if it doesn't, they're always going to feel
[31:40] Speaker 1: some type of.
[31:40] Speaker 2: Peace and be drawn to you, and eventually it's gonna
[31:43] Speaker 2: come up where they're gonna want to know more.
[31:45] Speaker 1: What is this?
[31:46] Speaker 2: It's something about you like I can't put my finger
[31:47] Speaker 2: on it, or they're gonna follow you on Instagram and see,
[31:50] Speaker 2: oh wow, she's a Christian, or she's really in her
[31:52] Speaker 2: words she's a believer. I want to know more about
[31:54] Speaker 2: this because I see the light that she has on
[31:56] Speaker 2: her life. Sometimes it's not about being in the space
[32:00] Speaker 2: and Jesus, jes Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, you know, like sometimes
[32:03] Speaker 2: it's just being you know, like you can shove Jesus
[32:07] Speaker 2: down people start and not be living it and not
[32:09] Speaker 2: be a reflection of him. So I think the most
[32:11] Speaker 2: important part is being a reflection of his, like treating
[32:13] Speaker 2: people with kindness, and when people come to you for
[32:16] Speaker 2: advice that they're struggling with something, give them sound advice
[32:19] Speaker 2: and how to turn away from it. I think as Christians,
[32:21] Speaker 2: we've gotten so comfortable with God knows my heart or
[32:24] Speaker 2: this is what I'm saying, this is just who I
[32:25] Speaker 2: am knowing is wrong. No, if you know that, then okay,
[32:30] Speaker 2: let's think about how we got here, you know, and
[32:31] Speaker 2: let's think about how we can turn away from this.
[32:34] Speaker 2: Cause it's one thing to be like, oh yeah, because
[32:35] Speaker 2: Jesus he hung with these people in this people, but
[32:37] Speaker 2: most of those people turned away from what they were doing,
[32:39] Speaker 2: and some of them they was right there with them
[32:41] Speaker 2: and even turn their back on the story. Come on,
[32:44] Speaker 2: they turned his back on them. We talk about Judas
[32:46] Speaker 2: and Peter like one of them. He said, get away
[32:49] Speaker 2: from me, Satan. And there's one thing that pet taught
[32:51] Speaker 2: me is about when you have people around you, you
[32:54] Speaker 2: have Peters and Judases.
[32:56] Speaker 1: You have people that make mistakes, but then you got.
[32:58] Speaker 2: Judases that you cut off, and understanding the difference of
[33:02] Speaker 2: like who's a Peter Smidy who has a good harbor
[33:03] Speaker 2: made a mistake, but who is a Judas that you
[33:05] Speaker 2: need to get out cut it off?
[33:07] Speaker 3: You know?
[33:08] Speaker 2: So I think when it comes to just understanding your
[33:11] Speaker 2: space in different rooms and how to navigate it, it's
[33:13] Speaker 2: really just one allowing your fruit to show and see
[33:17] Speaker 2: so people can see like, oh wow, she really is
[33:20] Speaker 2: who she speaks of, Like I see.
[33:22] Speaker 1: That in her it's reflected, you know.
[33:24] Speaker 2: So yeah, I think just getting away from the rigidity,
[33:29] Speaker 2: rigidity of religion and really living the life of Jesus
[33:34] Speaker 2: is what's the main point that I try to push off.
[33:37] Speaker 4: I know for a lot of people in that space
[33:40] Speaker 4: and who you know, they start off with, you know,
[33:43] Speaker 4: the faith and pushing the Christ, but then maybe they
[33:45] Speaker 4: backslide or maybe they just right.
[33:47] Speaker 1: I've been there.
[33:48] Speaker 3: Talk about that though.
[33:49] Speaker 4: Even if you were to do something now that may
[33:52] Speaker 4: just be like ah, and I'm pushing, how do you
[33:57] Speaker 4: how do you come back from that? And if you
[34:00] Speaker 4: did have to, I mean maybe not explain, but what
[34:02] Speaker 4: does that look like for you in those instances where
[34:04] Speaker 4: it's like damn, I kind of didn't want to post that, or.
[34:06] Speaker 3: Maybe I did too much or do you ever have
[34:08] Speaker 3: those moments?
[34:09] Speaker 4: And when you do or when you did have them?
[34:11] Speaker 4: What was that like for someone? And this is just
[34:13] Speaker 4: for like the business woman that that is her brand.
[34:15] Speaker 4: She loves God. She you know, she's working on herself.
[34:18] Speaker 4: But maybe the post it little little ris mistakee, but
[34:23] Speaker 4: now she wants she doesn't want that to define her,
[34:25] Speaker 4: you know, to make it where people don't trust what she's.
[34:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, Paul, and he wrote a scripture about the
[34:38] Speaker 2: very things that I hate.
[34:40] Speaker 1: To do, I do them like we know we're not
[34:43] Speaker 1: supposed to do it. This we're talking about Paul. Yeah,
[34:45] Speaker 1: you were saying a man.
[34:46] Speaker 2: That was killing Christians but like turn his life over
[34:50] Speaker 2: to Christ and even said like there's things like I
[34:53] Speaker 2: know I shouldn't be doing this, but the very thing
[34:55] Speaker 2: I hate doing I end up doing it anyway. Pete
[35:00] Speaker 2: talked about this on Sunday too, about the growth turns
[35:03] Speaker 2: when that when the I know I'm doing this, I
[35:05] Speaker 2: don't like it.
[35:06] Speaker 1: I hate it.
[35:08] Speaker 2: The growth is in the hate. There was a time
[35:09] Speaker 2: where it didn't bother me. When I did that, it
[35:12] Speaker 2: was like, oh whatever, you know, so there's growth in that.
[35:15] Speaker 2: And I feel like to the people that are still growing,
[35:18] Speaker 2: give yourself grace, you know, when you know you are
[35:21] Speaker 2: truly trying to do better, be better, to turn away
[35:25] Speaker 2: from things. Understand that you are working and combating years
[35:30] Speaker 2: of habits that you've been set in. You know, certain
[35:33] Speaker 2: things that don't cut off, like cold turkey, like a
[35:36] Speaker 2: light switch. Certain things you really got to work at.
[35:38] Speaker 2: And it's we talk about dying to our flesh daily.
[35:41] Speaker 2: Certain things you really have to work at quitting and
[35:44] Speaker 2: like sometimes that urge is going to pull back at you.
[35:47] Speaker 2: You know, I talked about I don't know if I've
[35:50] Speaker 2: talked about it privately, yeah, but I don't know if
[35:52] Speaker 2: I opened up public about it. But there's things like
[35:56] Speaker 2: I've turned away from and those urges come, you know,
[35:58] Speaker 2: like masturbation for me is one of them. Things like
[36:00] Speaker 2: sex hasn't been an issue like I can be like, no,
[36:02] Speaker 2: I'm not having sex, and I've been good on that,
[36:05] Speaker 2: but the urge because there's something about a vibrator that
[36:08] Speaker 2: a man can't do, which.
[36:09] Speaker 3: Is private, no one would even know.
[36:11] Speaker 2: Nobody would know, but guess what God knows, and it
[36:14] Speaker 2: hurts my heart when I do it, you know. So
[36:16] Speaker 2: like that's something where like I've let that go as well,
[36:18] Speaker 2: but it took a while to let that go. I
[36:20] Speaker 2: did talk about that. It took a while to let
[36:22] Speaker 2: that go, and even God was like, You're gonna have
[36:25] Speaker 2: to stop this, you know, please stop because.
[36:28] Speaker 1: No man will ever be able to satisfy you can
[36:29] Speaker 1: keep using this thing, you know. So I think.
[36:33] Speaker 2: It's understanding being real with yourself knowing and I think
[36:36] Speaker 2: sharing and being transparent about things like that where it's like, yes,
[36:39] Speaker 2: I cut this off, but this right he was hard
[36:41] Speaker 2: for me. This was tough, so that people don't feel
[36:44] Speaker 2: alone when they're trying to do right now. That doesn't
[36:47] Speaker 2: give permission and mission yet just keep going, girl, because
[36:50] Speaker 2: God know, like, just keep doing this, okay because y'all
[36:51] Speaker 2: gonna keep forgiving you. But like it's like no, like
[36:54] Speaker 2: really work towards trying. But it's understand that it is
[36:58] Speaker 2: hard and we all fall short. And I think that's
[37:00] Speaker 2: the main thing that I want to drive home is
[37:01] Speaker 2: that even when you fall short, just don't stay there,
[37:04] Speaker 2: get up and try again. Clean slate, you know, every
[37:07] Speaker 2: day daily bread. That's why we pray for that, give
[37:09] Speaker 2: us our daily bread because I know yesterday I messed
[37:11] Speaker 2: it up. Okay, so I need a new love today. Lord,
[37:15] Speaker 2: Let's try this again. But yeah, just don't allow we
[37:22] Speaker 2: call them first way Christians. Don't allow them to push
[37:27] Speaker 2: you away from doing what you know is right even
[37:29] Speaker 2: when you fall down.
[37:30] Speaker 1: And I think that's the main thing.
[37:32] Speaker 2: We get so caught up in the scripture that we
[37:36] Speaker 2: lose sight of the foundation and the act of it.
[37:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, so good, Crystal.
[37:41] Speaker 4: So again, you're all these businesses and some of them
[37:45] Speaker 4: are first, and then some of them you are, you know,
[37:48] Speaker 4: recreating and redoing. Even with the hair care line. Hair
[37:52] Speaker 4: has been around for so long, right, yeah, and you
[37:54] Speaker 4: weren't the first, but you are popping with it. So
[37:57] Speaker 4: I want to connect that because a lot of people
[37:59] Speaker 4: feel like everything is oversaturated. Podcasts, hair problems, just all
[38:04] Speaker 4: these things right because they've been done and people make money,
[38:07] Speaker 4: so people gonna try.
[38:07] Speaker 3: And things like that.
[38:08] Speaker 4: Yeah, for someone who has a calling or a gift
[38:10] Speaker 4: but feels like a space is already full, what would
[38:13] Speaker 4: you say to them?
[38:13] Speaker 3: And I think you have so much to say, because yes,
[38:17] Speaker 3: do it anyway.
[38:18] Speaker 2: You know, this is something that you've been called to,
[38:21] Speaker 2: something that you feel like you could add something different
[38:24] Speaker 2: to as well their space for everybody.
[38:28] Speaker 1: I mean, this is like a multi billion dollar.
[38:32] Speaker 2: Area of space when it comes to beauty even podcasts, Like,
[38:34] Speaker 2: there's so much money everywhere to make it, why not
[38:38] Speaker 2: be you?
[38:39] Speaker 3: You know?
[38:39] Speaker 2: I feel like a lot of times we allow doubt
[38:42] Speaker 2: and fear to creep in when we see.
[38:45] Speaker 1: So many people doing this. It's like, well where do
[38:46] Speaker 1: I fit in? You're you, That's where you fit in.
[38:50] Speaker 2: And I think once you get that into your head
[38:52] Speaker 2: and realize, wait, there is something about me, there's something
[38:54] Speaker 2: special about me. And for me, I walked into it
[38:56] Speaker 2: confidently knowing that this is something that I was doing
[38:59] Speaker 2: before this opportunity came. So I was able to say no, like,
[39:03] Speaker 2: I can do this, and I can definitely sell this
[39:05] Speaker 2: because I've been doing it before. I was making some
[39:07] Speaker 2: money off of it. So I think, when you know
[39:10] Speaker 2: you've done the work, goes back to doing the work.
[39:12] Speaker 2: When you've done the work, there is no stopping you.
[39:15] Speaker 2: And I feel like there's space for everybody and there's
[39:20] Speaker 2: room for me and I'm living proof of it, so
[39:22] Speaker 2: there's room for you too.
[39:25] Speaker 4: Of course, we know about God's time and then you
[39:27] Speaker 4: know that this is the perfect time. But for someone
[39:29] Speaker 4: that's maybe not there, quite there yet with understanding that,
[39:35] Speaker 4: what are some steps that you can give them to
[39:37] Speaker 4: like it's not too late, or like what is something?
[39:39] Speaker 3: Of course, doing the work, but what is some.
[39:40] Speaker 4: Other things that you think you could just instill or
[39:43] Speaker 4: just some practices people could be doing. Who again, they
[39:46] Speaker 4: know what they want to do, but they're just kind
[39:49] Speaker 4: of scared.
[39:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, So.
[39:54] Speaker 2: I have known that I wanted to be an actors
[39:57] Speaker 2: since the age of five. I wanted to be an
[39:59] Speaker 2: entertain I was thirty six, okay thirty six when I
[40:06] Speaker 2: got my big break, which is late in the entertainment industry,
[40:11] Speaker 2: but I was right on time. And I say that
[40:14] Speaker 2: to inspire someone who feels like they're late. And I
[40:17] Speaker 2: feel like it's never too late to pivot. You know,
[40:20] Speaker 2: so many people like I'm at this age and I
[40:22] Speaker 2: don't like what I'm doing.
[40:24] Speaker 1: What do you like to do?
[40:25] Speaker 2: Is it something that you can make a living off
[40:27] Speaker 2: of or is it a hobby? You know, and if
[40:31] Speaker 2: it is something you can make a living off of,
[40:33] Speaker 2: start working towards that why you have a job, and
[40:35] Speaker 2: create your exit strategy. You know, I think that we
[40:39] Speaker 2: get so stuck in what's safe that we miss out
[40:43] Speaker 2: on living in our purpose. And I think there is
[40:47] Speaker 2: a level responsibility that you have to have. Don't be
[40:49] Speaker 2: reckless with it and just I'm just gonna quit my
[40:51] Speaker 2: job today because I don't like it, you know, don't
[40:53] Speaker 2: do that, but be responsible. And sometimes you're gonna have
[40:57] Speaker 2: to put in the extra shifts where it's like, Okay,
[40:59] Speaker 2: I'm gonna work in the day on my main job,
[41:01] Speaker 2: but at nighttime I'm going to really work on my
[41:03] Speaker 2: passions so that I can leave this other job and
[41:05] Speaker 2: this can be my main thing. But you're never too late.
[41:09] Speaker 2: You're never too late.
[41:10] Speaker 3: I love that. Yeah, So I know that you are
[41:14] Speaker 3: doing the soccer, You're doing all of these things.
[41:17] Speaker 4: I want to go back to that because again we
[41:20] Speaker 4: know that you've always you've always been into the hair
[41:23] Speaker 4: and the fashion, and of course we see you into
[41:25] Speaker 4: the sports. But what did tell us more about that
[41:28] Speaker 4: and what does that look like? And this is more
[41:29] Speaker 4: so to inspire someone who may have like a secret
[41:33] Speaker 4: like love or a secret thing, and then what does
[41:36] Speaker 4: that look like to actually step into that role, Like.
[41:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great question for me.
[41:42] Speaker 2: I always said that when I started making a certain
[41:44] Speaker 2: amount of money where I could invest, I wanted to
[41:47] Speaker 2: create generational wealth. So the great thing is some opportunities come,
[41:52] Speaker 2: you can get in on the entry level and it
[41:54] Speaker 2: can turn to something crazy as you let it mature
[41:57] Speaker 2: over the years. When it comes to investing in sports teams,
[42:01] Speaker 2: it's the long game. This is not something I get
[42:03] Speaker 2: dividends off of at the end of the year or quarterly.
[42:07] Speaker 2: This is something that when I get older, say the
[42:10] Speaker 2: team sells or we end up doing an evaluation, I
[42:14] Speaker 2: would get a big payout for that. So this is
[42:17] Speaker 2: playing the long game and understanding like when you have
[42:19] Speaker 2: money that you can same with investing in socks and
[42:22] Speaker 2: bonds and treasury wise, whatever it is that you may
[42:26] Speaker 2: be investing in, You're gonna let that money sit, you know,
[42:29] Speaker 2: and let it continue to compound interest. This is one
[42:32] Speaker 2: of those things where I have money that I could
[42:35] Speaker 2: do without you have to be smart about it. Is
[42:37] Speaker 2: this money that you can do without because this isn't
[42:39] Speaker 2: something I can go in and be like, oh I
[42:40] Speaker 2: need this now. I could go sell some of my
[42:42] Speaker 2: shares if I needed to, which is always smart to
[42:45] Speaker 2: have something in a reserve that can't touch it because taxes, which.
[42:48] Speaker 1: Is another good thing business.
[42:51] Speaker 2: Listen, you want to make sure that you're putting your
[42:55] Speaker 2: money investing in things where Uncle Sam can't touch it
[42:58] Speaker 2: until you start pulling money out of it. So for me,
[43:01] Speaker 2: this is another way that I can cut back on
[43:03] Speaker 2: what I have to pay for, but in the long run,
[43:05] Speaker 2: it's going to be a huge payout.
[43:07] Speaker 1: So I think sometimes we.
[43:08] Speaker 2: Get caught up in the I want the money right
[43:10] Speaker 2: now that we're not thinking about the long game.
[43:13] Speaker 3: That's good, Yeah, little business.
[43:17] Speaker 4: So the last thing I want to say I want
[43:19] Speaker 4: to touch on for the person that is, you know
[43:22] Speaker 4: they work hard, they you know they're in their word,
[43:26] Speaker 4: they're being patient. What are some things when you were
[43:29] Speaker 4: right at that moment, what is something that you actively did.
[43:32] Speaker 4: Maybe it was like you rolled in your planner every
[43:35] Speaker 4: day or you did what A's some things that you
[43:38] Speaker 4: not instantly, but you saw that shift when you started
[43:40] Speaker 4: implementing these daily I guess works or things like that,
[43:44] Speaker 4: just to get people again like some stuff they can
[43:47] Speaker 4: do charge them with.
[43:49] Speaker 2: I think practicing discipline, you know, having a schedule, sticking
[43:54] Speaker 2: to it. There's something about routine that helps be structured,
[44:01] Speaker 2: that helps you understand like you're not going with the flow.
[44:04] Speaker 2: It's like, oh, I just wake Kevin, I do what
[44:05] Speaker 2: everyone do. No, Like every successful person they're up early,
[44:09] Speaker 2: they're up before everybody. They are taking care of their bodies,
[44:13] Speaker 2: taking care of their mind. Where there's meditation, journaling, working out.
[44:17] Speaker 2: For me, my workout is meditation.
[44:19] Speaker 3: For me.
[44:19] Speaker 2: I can like just be with myself, put my headphones in,
[44:23] Speaker 2: and I'm fueling my body for the day. There's something
[44:26] Speaker 2: about discipline, and if you don't have it before it hits,
[44:29] Speaker 2: before that prayer's answered, it's gonna be hard to like
[44:32] Speaker 2: jump into discipline when it does come, and a lot
[44:35] Speaker 2: of times you'll fumble it. So I think for me,
[44:37] Speaker 2: it's making sure that before it comes, whatever you're asking for,
[44:42] Speaker 2: also pray for the discipline and then start practicing discipline
[44:45] Speaker 2: before it actually hits.
[44:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, that was good. That was good. Listen.
[44:51] Speaker 2: I'm telling you, like I would not be where I
[44:53] Speaker 2: am today if I wasn't structured.
[44:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to have that discipline, and I've had
[44:56] Speaker 1: that since I was a kid. You know.
[44:58] Speaker 2: My parents put me in organized sports. I was a
[45:00] Speaker 2: competition cheerleader. We had practice right after school. Sometimes we
[45:05] Speaker 2: would go home, then we had to be back at
[45:07] Speaker 2: a certain time. We had competitions, we had basketball games,
[45:09] Speaker 2: football games, softball.
[45:11] Speaker 1: Games, track meets, whatever it was.
[45:12] Speaker 2: We had to make sure that we were there on time,
[45:15] Speaker 2: also taking care of our studies. So it's so much
[45:18] Speaker 2: that I was juggling at a young age that gave
[45:20] Speaker 2: me that structure, and I think it's something that I
[45:23] Speaker 2: carried into.
[45:24] Speaker 1: Every part of my life, even how hard it was.
[45:28] Speaker 2: The mental fortitude to be able to handle difficult things
[45:30] Speaker 2: at a young age, whether it's getting hurt or being
[45:33] Speaker 2: mentally exhausted, physically exhausted, but pushing through, it's something that
[45:38] Speaker 2: you can't buy, you know. Sometimes you don't mean some
[45:42] Speaker 2: people don't have it, you know, And that's why I
[45:44] Speaker 2: don't feel like everybody is in the same position, because
[45:48] Speaker 2: some things you just have to have or you have
[45:50] Speaker 2: to build a stamina for it.
[45:52] Speaker 1: So I'm grateful to my parents.
[45:54] Speaker 2: And I always shout out my middle school cheerleading coach,
[45:57] Speaker 2: Miss Friend, who instilled in me at a very young
[46:00] Speaker 2: age what hard work was.
[46:01] Speaker 1: She didn't care if a bone was popping out of
[46:04] Speaker 1: our arm. You finish it.
[46:06] Speaker 2: I don't care if your nose is bleeding, if you
[46:09] Speaker 2: just got it knocked out of whatever, Finish the routine
[46:12] Speaker 2: and then we'll figure it out.
[46:14] Speaker 1: Like and I think I just carry that with everything
[46:16] Speaker 1: I do. Yeah, just finish it.
[46:19] Speaker 3: I love it.
[46:20] Speaker 4: I mean, it's no surprise, of course, what your personal
[46:22] Speaker 4: brand is. So I'm so excited just to see what
[46:25] Speaker 4: more businesses will flourish.
[46:27] Speaker 2: I know, Listen, I'm telling you, like God just gives
[46:33] Speaker 2: me ideas, okay, and sometimes even to that, you may
[46:36] Speaker 2: get an idea and it may take time for it
[46:40] Speaker 2: to come to fruition. Don't give up on that, you know,
[46:43] Speaker 2: Like God gave me an idea last year. I just
[46:45] Speaker 2: had the meeting today a year later, but it was
[46:47] Speaker 2: right on time. Because I've learned more. I'm in a
[46:49] Speaker 2: better position, you know. So I think understanding God's timing,
[46:53] Speaker 2: understanding what you're supposed to learn throughout the gaps when
[46:57] Speaker 2: you feel like, oh my God, what is it happening?
[47:00] Speaker 2: A moment to sit back and be like, way, what
[47:01] Speaker 2: am I supposed to learning right now? Because there's something
[47:03] Speaker 2: that a reason why there's a delay. It's not a denial,
[47:07] Speaker 2: but it's a delay so that you can be ready
[47:09] Speaker 2: for when it does come. Yeah, my god, oh this
[47:16] Speaker 2: is good.
[47:17] Speaker 1: Good, thank you, Shelly questions.
[47:20] Speaker 2: What I really want you to understand is this, You
[47:23] Speaker 2: don't have to choose one version of yourself to be successful.
[47:26] Speaker 3: You can evolve, you can expand you can build.
[47:30] Speaker 1: In multiple spaces.
[47:32] Speaker 3: But the key to doing it well is alignment.
[47:34] Speaker 2: Everything you do should connect back to who you are,
[47:38] Speaker 2: what you believe, and how you want to show up
[47:40] Speaker 2: in the world. And when you leave from that place.
[47:43] Speaker 2: It's not about doing everything. It's about doing the right
[47:47] Speaker 2: things in the right season. So don't let fear comparison
[47:51] Speaker 2: or the idea that it's already being done stop you.
[47:55] Speaker 3: What's for you is not crowded.
