[0:13] Speaker 2: They shift the room?
[0:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, we are talking impact. Today's episode is all about
[0:18] Speaker 1: that quiet power, that loud purpose, and that kind of
[0:21] Speaker 1: presence that leaves the mark after you've walked away. Because
[0:24] Speaker 1: cute is cool, but impact is forever. Let's get into it.
[0:29] Speaker 1: This is keep it positive, sweetie. Today's guest is someone
[0:32] Speaker 1: I not only admire on screen, but deeply respect offscreen.
[0:36] Speaker 1: She's bold, she's funny, she's real, and you know, she's
[0:39] Speaker 1: one of those women who brings that light with.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Her everywhere she goes.
[0:43] Speaker 1: You might know her as seen stealing Danny from Tyler
[0:46] Speaker 1: Perry's Sisters, but trust me, Mignon Vond is so much
[0:49] Speaker 1: more than a character. She's a storyteller, a creative and
[0:52] Speaker 1: a woman of faith. She has worked her way up
[0:55] Speaker 1: in this industry with grit and grace and that signature
[0:58] Speaker 1: Minyon Sparkle. I am so excited to have this honest,
[1:01] Speaker 1: joyful and impactful conversation with my sister today.
[1:05] Speaker 2: Sweetyes, Please give a warm welcome to Mignon, my sister
[1:09] Speaker 2: have now the people have been wanting this one. I know. No,
[1:15] Speaker 2: thank you for coming, thank you for having me.
[1:17] Speaker 3: I'm so excited happy we could make their dreams come true.
[1:20] Speaker 2: You know. See this is what we do once again.
[1:23] Speaker 1: No people every week they're like, we want more of
[1:26] Speaker 1: Danny and Fatima. When are we gonna get some Fanny
[1:31] Speaker 1: or Fanny Fatima? Yeah, Fanny, I think that'd be our nickname,
[1:34] Speaker 1: Datima Datima.
[1:40] Speaker 4: Because the teama was like the team too exactly.
[1:42] Speaker 1: Yes, and we make a really good team like we do.
[1:46] Speaker 1: I do coming out, put it together.
[1:47] Speaker 2: I love it. Thank you so much. Thank you. We
[1:51] Speaker 2: when we're working, we don't get to talk as much.
[1:53] Speaker 1: In the past few seasons, we didn't have a lot
[1:55] Speaker 1: of work together the past. Now, like I think the
[1:57] Speaker 1: last two seasons we filmed, we've actually got to work
[2:00] Speaker 1: more together.
[2:01] Speaker 2: We built our own relationship, our own language.
[2:04] Speaker 1: Like I can just look at her and you like,
[2:06] Speaker 1: and I know exactly what she's talking about. It's so
[2:10] Speaker 1: funny of like you guess she's like, I'm like, got it.
[2:13] Speaker 1: I read I read all that, I.
[2:14] Speaker 3: Read it all talk about how I go mute, I
[2:18] Speaker 3: do have like I just start kind of.
[2:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, but she has mumble core. She likesumed him up.
[2:28] Speaker 2: You know.
[2:28] Speaker 3: At time we did it, I was like, I didn't
[2:30] Speaker 3: understand anything but everything.
[2:33] Speaker 2: The crazy thing is me and my brother had that language.
[2:35] Speaker 1: So I guess you really are my sister because he's
[2:37] Speaker 1: the only one that understands me and you.
[2:39] Speaker 2: Now, my mom was like, what are y'all talking about?
[2:42] Speaker 2: Like he's like, is that Tennessee? It must be. It
[2:48] Speaker 2: must be. I don't know what it is, but that's why. Yeah,
[2:52] Speaker 2: I mumble and you get it. Yeah, I love it.
[2:55] Speaker 2: I love it. It don't even matter.
[2:57] Speaker 4: It's like just she's telling y'all that the pickup is wrong.
[3:06] Speaker 2: I love it. So because we haven't got we worked.
[3:08] Speaker 1: When we're working, we are working, And I was like,
[3:10] Speaker 1: I really want to sit down and talk to you
[3:12] Speaker 1: and even for the audience to get to know you more,
[3:16] Speaker 1: because the times that we have talked have been so
[3:18] Speaker 1: enriching for me learning more about your faith.
[3:21] Speaker 2: We had financial talks.
[3:22] Speaker 1: We talked about so much like in our breaks, it's
[3:25] Speaker 1: like what about this, and who do you use for this?
[3:26] Speaker 2: What we like?
[3:27] Speaker 1: We talk about so many different things so much. No,
[3:30] Speaker 1: you've got impeccable taste.
[3:32] Speaker 2: Thank you, so thank you, thank you so much. But
[3:34] Speaker 2: that's what it's about.
[3:35] Speaker 1: We talked about in our prayer about not gatekeeping and
[3:37] Speaker 1: making sure that we're sharing the knowledge and this season
[3:41] Speaker 1: not gaykeep.
[3:42] Speaker 2: I don't for what somebody told me.
[3:46] Speaker 1: Hello, Why why should I take what somebody else gave
[3:49] Speaker 1: me and keep.
[3:49] Speaker 2: It all to myself? Yeah, yep, that's it. You got it.
[3:55] Speaker 2: That's it, you got it.
[3:59] Speaker 4: We know.
[4:00] Speaker 1: I wanted to have you on so we can learn
[4:02] Speaker 1: more about you because when we are working, we don't
[4:05] Speaker 1: really get to dive into those things. So I was like,
[4:07] Speaker 1: let's have me on so we can really dive in,
[4:09] Speaker 1: you know, dive into who you are, some of your
[4:12] Speaker 1: goals and everything, just so we can know more about
[4:14] Speaker 1: who you are. So you started. You were born in DC,
[4:17] Speaker 1: raised in DC, and then raised.
[4:20] Speaker 2: In Georgia, oh. Raised in Georgia.
[4:24] Speaker 1: Augusta Augusta, Georgia, Austa, born in DC, raising Augusta.
[4:29] Speaker 2: I did go to the Masters last year. We did.
[4:32] Speaker 2: It was crazy, was it. I've never been with Mercedes.
[4:35] Speaker 2: We need to.
[4:37] Speaker 1: We need to make that heaven because you're driving Mercedes.
[4:40] Speaker 1: Come on, now, make it.
[4:41] Speaker 4: With Mercedes like an ambassador or something.
[4:45] Speaker 2: Yep, so we don't make that. Heaven, don't get.
[4:52] Speaker 1: Driving Mercedes. That's a double win right there. You need
[4:54] Speaker 1: to go to the Master's next year. It's an experience
[4:57] Speaker 1: of a lifetime. I got to go and Tiger was there,
[4:59] Speaker 1: so it was like, really, dope.
[5:01] Speaker 3: Well that's the thing like growing up in Augusta and
[5:03] Speaker 3: literally lived down the street from the golf course, which
[5:05] Speaker 3: I might as well live a world away because you know,
[5:08] Speaker 3: you know, it's an exclusive club.
[5:10] Speaker 2: So and I was like child whatever, I'm trying to
[5:14] Speaker 2: get out of Augusta and go.
[5:15] Speaker 1: To La anyway, Right, seriously, what was it like as young? Mean, like,
[5:19] Speaker 1: were you always did you know you were funny? When
[5:22] Speaker 1: did you realize that you had this knack for actor
[5:25] Speaker 1: and even wanted to act?
[5:27] Speaker 3: So I always say that it was annoying with like acting,
[5:32] Speaker 3: I didn't necessarily know I was funny until a certain age.
[5:36] Speaker 3: But like the thing about acting, it just it was understood.
[5:40] Speaker 3: I was watching I used to love Muppet Babies, and
[5:44] Speaker 3: you know how there's the you know, rolling credits and
[5:47] Speaker 3: like there's ms Piggy just being an actor, like, oh,
[5:49] Speaker 3: that's what I do.
[5:49] Speaker 2: And I was like three, so it was just annoing.
[5:52] Speaker 3: Wow, before there was an understanding of what being an actor,
[5:54] Speaker 3: of being Hollywood or movie star was. So I actually
[5:58] Speaker 3: tried to get away from it. I thought I was
[5:59] Speaker 3: going to be a biologists. I thought I was going
[6:02] Speaker 3: to go into psychology just because of different struggles and
[6:05] Speaker 3: traumas and insecurities. And then eventually I was just like nah, shouting.
[6:13] Speaker 2: For a reason.
[6:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, what were some of those struggles and traumas that
[6:17] Speaker 1: you went through to that got you to that knowledge?
[6:19] Speaker 2: Shoddy, you got this well?
[6:21] Speaker 3: Just so I went to Peppernine University for film school, graduated,
[6:25] Speaker 3: had a hard time finding a job in film, so
[6:27] Speaker 3: I worked in a nonprofit world. Eventually got a job
[6:30] Speaker 3: in TV. I used to work on Dance with the Stars. Really,
[6:33] Speaker 3: I was a pair. I've been a PA, A production coordinator,
[6:36] Speaker 3: post production coordinator, coordinating producer, story assistant on short films.
[6:40] Speaker 3: Like with other people's short films, I've been like an
[6:42] Speaker 3: a D. I've been, of course a PA.
[6:45] Speaker 2: May I did not know, ma'am, our stories are so parallel.
[6:49] Speaker 2: I have no idea.
[6:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, but like I just I tried to work behind
[6:57] Speaker 3: the camera. Then I was like Okay, I can work
[6:59] Speaker 3: behind the camera and event put myself and stuff. Because
[7:01] Speaker 3: of them, you know, you experience rejection in life, and
[7:03] Speaker 3: you experience trauma, and you experience being told, oh that's
[7:07] Speaker 3: not for you. Delta Burke was Delta Burke like, you
[7:12] Speaker 3: don't get to be your size and do this. How
[7:15] Speaker 3: many people your size are doing this, you know, and
[7:18] Speaker 3: so it's like okay.
[7:19] Speaker 4: So I was like, all right, I'll just make my
[7:21] Speaker 4: own stuff. And then.
[7:26] Speaker 3: Doors started closing and I started fasting, like in my twenties.
[7:32] Speaker 3: And one of the times I was fasting, I was
[7:33] Speaker 3: reading the book called The Alchemists. Well listening to it,
[7:37] Speaker 3: that is one of my favorite books. It's absolutely one
[7:40] Speaker 3: of my favorite.
[7:40] Speaker 1: I tell people to read it at the beginning of
[7:41] Speaker 1: every year.
[7:42] Speaker 4: Top five, you know, I think it should be a
[7:44] Speaker 4: ritual for me as well.
[7:45] Speaker 3: It's so good because Paulo Coela, I think that's how
[7:50] Speaker 3: you pronounce his last name.
[7:51] Speaker 2: I mean, he's also a believer.
[7:52] Speaker 3: So it's just like understanding our journey, our life path
[7:57] Speaker 3: is just really important.
[7:59] Speaker 2: And that book really helped you in like.
[8:01] Speaker 4: Visual storytelling, to understand your own personal hero's journey. And
[8:07] Speaker 4: so anyway, so just kind of starting that.
[8:10] Speaker 3: It was so at that time, it was kind of
[8:13] Speaker 3: like the call to adventure because my brother was kind
[8:16] Speaker 3: of pouring into me.
[8:17] Speaker 4: I was fascinating. I was like, God, just tell me
[8:19] Speaker 4: if this is for me or not.
[8:21] Speaker 3: My brother was like, remember that little girl who had
[8:22] Speaker 3: these dreams and she and Carolin by thought and when
[8:26] Speaker 3: you were a child, and then there's you get to
[8:28] Speaker 3: that part in the Book of the Alchemist where it says, well,
[8:31] Speaker 3: if a child tells you and a dream, then it's true.
[8:35] Speaker 3: And I put all those things together and I was like, Okay,
[8:37] Speaker 3: we'll move back to Atlanta. They'll see them LA trained.
[8:41] Speaker 3: I'll get all the jobs.
[8:43] Speaker 1: Because that's the move, right people. They can go to
[8:46] Speaker 1: LA and come here. They're gonna definitely hire me. Doors
[8:49] Speaker 1: will open, so fly open zero zero my goodness.
[8:54] Speaker 2: Nothing.
[8:55] Speaker 3: But that's because God was like, take acting classes, get back, really,
[9:00] Speaker 3: get back to it, because even when I was in college,
[9:01] Speaker 3: I was taking acting classes, but I still focused on
[9:04] Speaker 3: film studies.
[9:05] Speaker 2: Right.
[9:06] Speaker 3: He was like, no, you need to go after this hard.
[9:09] Speaker 3: And then I did that. You know, I think I
[9:12] Speaker 3: really knew I was funny because like in school, I
[9:14] Speaker 3: knew I was funny. I knew I could make people laugh,
[9:17] Speaker 3: but I did improp here in Atlanta, and we would
[9:21] Speaker 3: have you know, those house teams and people come to shows,
[9:23] Speaker 3: and I would see the last I would get in
[9:25] Speaker 3: real time, and I was.
[9:26] Speaker 2: Like, okay, you know, heal a little funny. It'd be
[9:30] Speaker 2: kind of cute at this. Yes, yeah, that's funny.
[9:33] Speaker 4: So I've always been funny, though I don't know you
[9:36] Speaker 4: are funny?
[9:37] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[9:37] Speaker 3: I mean, yes, I am funny. That's why people think
[9:39] Speaker 3: I'm Danny, because that's why I think I'm Danny in
[9:42] Speaker 3: real life, just because like, no, yes, I'm hilarious, but
[9:44] Speaker 3: I promise you I've not heard.
[9:46] Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah exactly.
[9:48] Speaker 1: So from moving from Los Angeles to Atlanta, all the doors,
[9:53] Speaker 1: the rejection being closed, what was that first big break
[9:56] Speaker 1: where you were.
[9:57] Speaker 2: Like, okay, we got some traction here. M really sisus
[10:04] Speaker 2: was that moment? What year? What do year did you
[10:05] Speaker 2: move to Atlanta? I'm moving back to Atlanta?
[10:08] Speaker 4: Like twenty sixteen, so three years later because we got
[10:16] Speaker 4: people like twenty nineteen.
[10:17] Speaker 2: That's true.
[10:18] Speaker 1: It was only three years, yeah, which is I mean
[10:22] Speaker 1: it felt like a lifetime.
[10:23] Speaker 2: I bet do you hear me? Yeah? Because twenty eighteen,
[10:25] Speaker 2: I moved back to La, thinking, I remember you were
[10:29] Speaker 2: in LA when we started yep, I remember that, yeah.
[10:32] Speaker 3: And thinking, okay, I gotta go back to LA if
[10:34] Speaker 3: I want a real acting job, because out here you
[10:37] Speaker 3: getting day player roles, you know, get.
[10:39] Speaker 2: In this series regular roleout right, So let me go to.
[10:42] Speaker 1: A lot of times are passing from Los Angeles. Its big,
[10:44] Speaker 1: those the main roles. And it was pre COVID.
[10:47] Speaker 3: So I was saying, let me go back to La,
[10:49] Speaker 3: get LA representation so I can get LA opportunity right.
[10:55] Speaker 4: Zero.
[10:55] Speaker 1: My goodness, that was my story too, you know, I mean,
[10:58] Speaker 1: you know my story work behind scenes for all those
[11:00] Speaker 1: years and then finally got that shot. I remember the
[11:03] Speaker 1: first day we met. You came into your fitting. I
[11:06] Speaker 1: was costume designing season one, and I just loved your
[11:11] Speaker 1: character because she was she was so much fun, and
[11:13] Speaker 1: I was like, we are going to have fun with
[11:14] Speaker 1: her wardrobe.
[11:16] Speaker 3: Oh I didn't Taylor close before that, really I did not.
[11:23] Speaker 2: When you tailored Michael, I was like, oh I have
[11:25] Speaker 2: a shape, honey, A good one too. No. Yeah, I
[11:29] Speaker 2: did not know a lot of people.
[11:31] Speaker 1: They some people just don't even know, like that's a thing,
[11:33] Speaker 1: you know, you think like, oh, I can get alterations
[11:36] Speaker 1: done on I eat something, but actually buying something and
[11:38] Speaker 1: tailor to your body can change the entire garment. Like literally,
[11:42] Speaker 1: you can get something from Walmart, y'all. Like, if you
[11:44] Speaker 1: bother on the budget, go to Walmart. You got your
[11:46] Speaker 1: aunts who know how to sew, get that thing tailored
[11:49] Speaker 1: to your body, and it may look like it's from
[11:51] Speaker 1: Louie okay for real, but now it's a real thing.
[11:55] Speaker 1: And I think even just knowing the woman's body and
[11:59] Speaker 1: knowing what to accentuate to like, it just it brings
[12:02] Speaker 1: out a different type of confidence, you know. But I
[12:05] Speaker 1: remember you coming in and I got to watch your audition.
[12:08] Speaker 1: I was like, oh my goodness. I was like, yeah,
[12:10] Speaker 1: this girl is funny, so funny. I saw you on
[12:13] Speaker 1: tape and I was like, yeah, she's got it. And
[12:15] Speaker 1: just to see where your character has gone from then
[12:17] Speaker 1: to now has just been amazing. Yeah, I want to
[12:21] Speaker 1: talk a person. Can we talk about like just the
[12:24] Speaker 1: anxiety and the the awareness that we have to have
[12:28] Speaker 1: now that we're celebrities and.
[12:29] Speaker 2: We leave the house.
[12:30] Speaker 1: How did you adjust from going from just mignon to
[12:34] Speaker 1: now It's like.
[12:35] Speaker 2: Danny Danny Dan like everywhere you go. It's not on
[12:40] Speaker 2: t R I him in public.
[12:49] Speaker 3: Because I I mean, I know for some people the
[12:54] Speaker 3: Lady Doth protests too much, but I'm not her, and
[12:59] Speaker 3: I am pretty shy when it comes to new people.
[13:02] Speaker 4: I am introverted.
[13:04] Speaker 3: Yes I'm funny, and yes when I'm with people I'm
[13:07] Speaker 3: comfortable with and it's like one on one, yeah, like
[13:10] Speaker 3: making jokes and I'm the life of a party. But
[13:12] Speaker 3: it's a small party, you know what I mean. It's
[13:15] Speaker 3: a party of five people I know really well. But
[13:17] Speaker 3: if it's like a big club thing, like I'm not
[13:19] Speaker 3: getting on the stage and dancing like and so I'm shy.
[13:24] Speaker 3: Like when a stranger runs up on me, I'm like,
[13:27] Speaker 3: it's survival mode, right, And then it's even more so
[13:31] Speaker 3: survival mode when you realize that people know who you
[13:35] Speaker 3: are in a crowd, but you don't know who they are.
[13:38] Speaker 3: That's scary, you know what I mean. And I've had
[13:44] Speaker 3: some instances that were really sweet but a little over zealous. Yeah,
[13:49] Speaker 3: and so it makes me I was, like I said,
[13:55] Speaker 3: I'm introverted. I've always been a homebody. I never understood
[13:58] Speaker 3: the club scene, even when I was like, you know,
[14:00] Speaker 3: in my college years, I was like, guys, we're standing
[14:03] Speaker 3: in line in heels and short skirts and it's cold.
[14:06] Speaker 4: Why are we doing this just so we can get
[14:09] Speaker 4: in for free? By eleven? Like I did not get
[14:13] Speaker 4: it right. I was the friend complaining the whole night
[14:16] Speaker 4: I was there, and so now I'm even more. But
[14:21] Speaker 4: I will say with the fame, it's like I'm in
[14:24] Speaker 4: the house.
[14:25] Speaker 2: Yeah you know, I'm saying in the house.
[14:26] Speaker 4: I need to be out the house because I'm gonna
[14:28] Speaker 4: meet somebody if I'm in the house.
[14:29] Speaker 2: But that's what my friends are telling me.
[14:31] Speaker 1: They're like, Chris, so, how do you expect to get
[14:33] Speaker 1: a man if you're always in the house? Wi you
[14:35] Speaker 1: said to your door dash man? I said, well, I'll
[14:38] Speaker 1: even go to the door for him. My directions are
[14:40] Speaker 1: leaving at the door, and then I'll watch them leave
[14:42] Speaker 1: and drive off, and.
[14:43] Speaker 2: I'm like, no, turn the corner. Do you know what
[14:48] Speaker 2: fear of.
[14:48] Speaker 1: Mine is that, Like I'm gonna open the door, They're
[14:49] Speaker 1: gonna be right there. So I'm always watching, like from
[14:52] Speaker 1: the ring and all my cameras, I'm like, okay, they've driven.
[14:54] Speaker 2: Off, all right, and grab it.
[14:55] Speaker 1: Primeal fear Primeal fear, and I feel like fame has
[14:59] Speaker 1: given me that even more so before Yeah that I
[15:02] Speaker 1: really didn't have. You have that primal instinct. But when
[15:05] Speaker 1: it comes to the fear that we have now, I know,
[15:07] Speaker 1: for me, like I've gotten death threats.
[15:10] Speaker 3: Like when you told me that, I was Yeah, it
[15:14] Speaker 3: was visceral for me when you told me that, Okay.
[15:16] Speaker 2: That's awful.
[15:17] Speaker 1: Yeah it's scary because, like you said, I can be
[15:19] Speaker 1: in a crowd where every like I don't know who
[15:21] Speaker 1: they are, what they know, and like what if that
[15:22] Speaker 1: one person is just sitting.
[15:24] Speaker 2: There the weirdo that Yeah, yeah, you know, you just
[15:27] Speaker 2: never know.
[15:29] Speaker 1: So it's always having like this awareness now watching my bag,
[15:33] Speaker 1: you know, saying there's so many different things we had
[15:35] Speaker 1: to do now that we didn't have to do five
[15:37] Speaker 1: years ago, you know.
[15:38] Speaker 3: And that's the thing that sometimes frustrates me about my
[15:40] Speaker 3: family's advice or friend's advice, is like, do.
[15:45] Speaker 2: You know how to navigate what I'm navigating? Though?
[15:50] Speaker 3: Does your advice take into consideration that you A don't
[15:53] Speaker 3: know how to navigate what I'm navigating and b how
[15:56] Speaker 3: to navigate what I'm navigating?
[15:59] Speaker 1: And when it to friends that are in the same
[16:02] Speaker 1: field as US or like celebrities giving advice on dating.
[16:06] Speaker 2: For me, it's more so.
[16:09] Speaker 1: Recommendations and saying, hey, I know this guy, I think
[16:12] Speaker 1: he'd be great for you, Like that's kind of how
[16:15] Speaker 1: I navigate it. But I have other friends that do
[16:17] Speaker 1: dating sites. I try that didn't work for me, so
[16:21] Speaker 1: I'm very much like I need somebody to know you,
[16:24] Speaker 1: so if you try something crazy, at least I'm like,
[16:26] Speaker 1: you said this guy was good, but he's not. And
[16:30] Speaker 1: I tried Riyah and I was just like, I never
[16:35] Speaker 1: would like try to match with anyone, So I'm not
[16:38] Speaker 1: really that girl. But most people like that I know
[16:40] Speaker 1: either do dating sites and they've had great success with it.
[16:43] Speaker 1: I'm just kind of afraid that primal fear that I'll
[16:46] Speaker 1: be the one to swipe on a serial killer.
[16:53] Speaker 2: With my look. I think you're right about referral.
[16:56] Speaker 3: I think they say that no matter who you are,
[16:58] Speaker 3: that's still the best way to tell people, like, hey,
[17:01] Speaker 3: I'm looking for someone. Yeah, I'm in the market like
[17:06] Speaker 3: either way, so maybe that's what.
[17:07] Speaker 2: I have to do. So are you're looking? Are you ready?
[17:10] Speaker 4: You know?
[17:10] Speaker 3: This week I was thinking about that. I was like,
[17:15] Speaker 3: I'm so used to being by myself that I'm like,
[17:23] Speaker 3: I'm fine, you know what I'm saying, except for there's
[17:25] Speaker 3: like certain moments where it's like, oh, yeah, you wish
[17:27] Speaker 3: you had a partner with you for certain things.
[17:29] Speaker 2: But like I tried to even.
[17:32] Speaker 3: Like I was meditating yesterday and I was just trying
[17:35] Speaker 3: to think about, you know, the things that I wanted,
[17:37] Speaker 3: and my mind was like, oh, okay, we can think
[17:39] Speaker 3: about the gentleman. And I was like, better things to
[17:42] Speaker 3: think about, like you know what I.
[17:45] Speaker 2: Mean, because I tried to like just hit every.
[17:48] Speaker 3: Air of my life and I was like, okay, you
[17:49] Speaker 3: know yeah. Because I also think there's just phrases that
[17:53] Speaker 3: you go through and like where you think about it
[17:54] Speaker 3: too much and now you're just like I'm tapped out
[17:56] Speaker 3: like this.
[17:57] Speaker 1: I'm older than you mean, so I will tell you
[17:59] Speaker 1: you don't want to get my age and be like
[18:03] Speaker 1: I should have tried to focus on that a little
[18:06] Speaker 1: a little bit.
[18:06] Speaker 4: But how do you focus on something that you can't control.
[18:09] Speaker 1: Well, by telling your friends, hey, I'm ready, I'm willing
[18:14] Speaker 1: to date. If you know anybody that's great, shorty, swing
[18:17] Speaker 1: on my way, because if they don't.
[18:19] Speaker 4: I'm ready and I'm willing to day. All right, you
[18:22] Speaker 4: can send.
[18:23] Speaker 2: The right.
[18:25] Speaker 3: See, there's only certain people that I want to send
[18:28] Speaker 3: referrals because.
[18:29] Speaker 2: You got listen.
[18:30] Speaker 1: Now, you can't have everybody sending referrals because everybody don't
[18:33] Speaker 1: have the I got you, I got you trus me. Yes, no,
[18:39] Speaker 1: I can't ask all my friends did because sometimes they
[18:41] Speaker 1: bring people.
[18:42] Speaker 2: I'm like, do you even know me? Do you even
[18:46] Speaker 2: know me? Do you know me?
[18:48] Speaker 4: I don't know if I like your relationship?
[18:50] Speaker 2: Come on? Yeah, yeah, that's real because I remember being
[18:54] Speaker 2: I think a really big part of it.
[18:55] Speaker 3: Two is like I remember being like twelve thirteen, Like
[18:59] Speaker 3: I wasn't always I'm a smart dummy? Or is that
[19:02] Speaker 3: what I'm trying to say? Like I'm highly intelligent, but
[19:05] Speaker 3: I'm dumb.
[19:06] Speaker 2: Sometimes I think we all have that either we did.
[19:09] Speaker 1: Some people are just dumb, but like, yeah, some people
[19:12] Speaker 1: are really smart and intellectual but make really stupid mistakes.
[19:16] Speaker 2: It's like, why did I.
[19:17] Speaker 3: Just because I remember being twelve thirteen fourteen trying to
[19:20] Speaker 3: break up the patriarchy and my southern Black Christian family.
[19:26] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
[19:27] Speaker 4: There's like a billion women in my family, but we
[19:30] Speaker 4: do so much cooking that everyone's still tired, right, Yeah,
[19:33] Speaker 4: but the.
[19:33] Speaker 3: Men sit throughout the entire holiday. Oh yeah, well we
[19:36] Speaker 3: hear us arguing about who's turning is to watch dishes.
[19:39] Speaker 2: Obviously it's the teenage girls who are arguing like that.
[19:41] Speaker 3: But we'll see that we're tired, and we'll only get
[19:44] Speaker 3: up to get a plate that's already made for them.
[19:47] Speaker 2: Won't wash their dish, won't help.
[19:49] Speaker 3: The only thing they will do is maybe go to
[19:51] Speaker 3: the grocery show when someone asks them to. Yeah, but
[19:53] Speaker 3: the bulk of the grocery shopping is done by my
[19:55] Speaker 3: grandmother before we get there. Like, and I just remember
[19:58] Speaker 3: being like smart, saying, well, why don't we get some
[20:02] Speaker 3: of the men to help?
[20:05] Speaker 2: And the main people down my throat were the women.
[20:08] Speaker 1: Wow.
[20:08] Speaker 3: And I just remember thinking to myself, and this is
[20:13] Speaker 3: this is a knock against my dad, my uncles, all
[20:15] Speaker 3: the men in my family, even though I know they.
[20:17] Speaker 2: Love their partners. But I was just like, how can
[20:21] Speaker 2: a man love a woman?
[20:24] Speaker 3: See she's tired, and there's nothing in you that says
[20:27] Speaker 3: how can I help?
[20:30] Speaker 2: My Lord?
[20:31] Speaker 3: So I remember being twelve thirteen, fourteen saying, Lord, I
[20:34] Speaker 3: want better than I've seen, And I think God set
[20:40] Speaker 3: forward and was like, oh, yeah, we can do that.
[20:43] Speaker 3: But I think I didn't realize at that time that
[20:46] Speaker 3: if I wanted something that I have not seen, I
[20:49] Speaker 3: would have to go through a process that most people
[20:51] Speaker 3: wouldn't go through. Right, that is so true. And so
[20:54] Speaker 3: I think I'm still cooking. Yeah, because he was like,
[20:57] Speaker 3: you want it better, let.
[20:59] Speaker 2: Me get different.
[21:00] Speaker 3: You want it more so to who much is given,
[21:03] Speaker 3: much is required. So I think I'm still cooking. My
[21:07] Speaker 3: gentleman is still cooking. And because I really because I
[21:11] Speaker 3: feel like even in the Church, a lot of men
[21:13] Speaker 3: don't understand what it is to love like Christ.
[21:16] Speaker 2: Because Jesus said.
[21:18] Speaker 4: I think it was Mark nine or Matthew nine.
[21:21] Speaker 3: I can never quote the exact book chapter in verse,
[21:23] Speaker 3: but he said, the gentile leaders lord their authority over you,
[21:29] Speaker 3: but in this kingdom not so. Whoever desires to be great,
[21:33] Speaker 3: desires to serve. And if you have the mind of Christ,
[21:39] Speaker 3: if you're going to love your wife the way Christ
[21:41] Speaker 3: loves the church, yeah, a.
[21:43] Speaker 4: Lot of men be like, I'll die for mint, Yeah,
[21:45] Speaker 4: but will you.
[21:45] Speaker 3: Live for yours? That when you wash speed, when you
[21:52] Speaker 3: are equal to God? Thought it not robbery to put
[21:56] Speaker 3: on the flesh of a servant, not a king, not
[21:58] Speaker 3: a warrior, but a servant, and then die death you
[22:01] Speaker 3: didn't deserve. Yeah you got the dying part, but do
[22:05] Speaker 3: you got the living part? And that's that's something I
[22:09] Speaker 3: think I saw at that age. But you know, I said,
[22:11] Speaker 3: don't have the language and still want that, yea.
[22:13] Speaker 1: And so that's what I love about you mean, like
[22:16] Speaker 1: even when we go on our press tours and stuff,
[22:19] Speaker 1: and the way you speak on behalf of women that
[22:23] Speaker 1: started at a young age, the fact that you could
[22:25] Speaker 1: see that and like, but why don't we get why
[22:27] Speaker 1: are they not?
[22:29] Speaker 2: And I grew up the same way.
[22:30] Speaker 1: I grew up On Sundays, all the men were in
[22:32] Speaker 1: the living room watching football while the women were cooking.
[22:36] Speaker 2: Same thing. Make your dad a plate like it was
[22:39] Speaker 2: that was the thing. And I still do that. It's
[22:40] Speaker 2: like when my parents said, here, dad, here's your plate.
[22:42] Speaker 2: Like that's just it was programmed and to do that.
[22:46] Speaker 1: But of course, like being who I am today, of
[22:48] Speaker 1: course I want someone where we can help each other,
[22:50] Speaker 1: you know, and serve each other, not just to give
[22:53] Speaker 1: give give, give givet situation. That's one thing I was
[22:57] Speaker 1: telling JB. I was like, I love the way she
[22:59] Speaker 1: just speaks for women and even some of the things
[23:03] Speaker 1: that we go through and how you like, I don't
[23:04] Speaker 1: want this struggle of We talk about that, Yeah, even
[23:08] Speaker 1: through your characters, like you want more for Danny, Like it.
[23:11] Speaker 2: Goes from your real life.
[23:12] Speaker 1: You talk about what you want and we talk about
[23:14] Speaker 1: characters and like, yeah, this is what we want to
[23:16] Speaker 1: make sure we're putting out because.
[23:17] Speaker 2: A lot of us are dealing with struggle of and
[23:19] Speaker 2: it's not fun. Yeah, it's not about tip for tat,
[23:25] Speaker 2: you know what I mean. It's not about tip for tat.
[23:27] Speaker 3: It's about it's about it's about love, it's about sacrifice
[23:32] Speaker 3: and it's really and I think that's the other thing
[23:34] Speaker 3: to me realizing like when you marry someone, you're marrying
[23:40] Speaker 3: their fears, their hopes, their flaws, their traumas, processor un processed,
[23:46] Speaker 3: their triggers. Like marriage is a ministry, it's work, like
[23:51] Speaker 3: you know what I mean. Like and so I just
[23:53] Speaker 3: think for women and men because I can already see
[23:58] Speaker 3: the comments.
[23:59] Speaker 2: And that's fine. He's paying all the bills and it's.
[24:05] Speaker 4: So basically I'm a higher is a woman a hired help?
[24:08] Speaker 3: Is that what you're saying, like is your partner hired
[24:10] Speaker 3: help because you pay the bills. That means you don't
[24:12] Speaker 3: have to pick up your draws. Like you got the
[24:15] Speaker 3: toilet looking like a Jackson Pollock paint. She gotta clean it.
[24:18] Speaker 3: What are you telling me?
[24:20] Speaker 2: What are you saying to me? That was gross?
[24:22] Speaker 1: But I'm trying to be gross right because it's gross.
[24:25] Speaker 2: It's gross, And so it's not about Tippertiz.
[24:28] Speaker 3: It's just about understanding how certain ideologies have infiltrated our society.
[24:35] Speaker 3: And it's the foundation of our society. I mean, if
[24:38] Speaker 3: you want to cut somebody out, it's a mother fl
[24:42] Speaker 3: what's your mama had to do with it? You're a
[24:44] Speaker 3: son of a bee, a female dog. If you want
[24:48] Speaker 3: to call somebody week, you call them the p word.
[24:50] Speaker 3: But peas push out babies. These can't get hit without
[24:53] Speaker 3: them punching over. So why is it that everything it's
[24:58] Speaker 3: female related or female ollanted.
[25:00] Speaker 2: It's the substratum of our society.
[25:02] Speaker 3: And I'm just you know, sometimes I feel like that
[25:06] Speaker 3: crazy person and a natural disaster movie with like a
[25:10] Speaker 3: mustard standing on their shirt and like.
[25:14] Speaker 4: Nobody will listen to them because their hair is crazy
[25:16] Speaker 4: and all over their head, Like right now, you know.
[25:19] Speaker 2: What I'm saying. You know what I'm saying.
[25:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, But at the end of the movie, the professor
[25:24] Speaker 3: died in like the first act, and they're.
[25:26] Speaker 2: Like they were right, right, But like.
[25:28] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, Like, it's not about it's
[25:30] Speaker 3: not about upending traditions. It's not about not loving your partners.
[25:35] Speaker 3: It's just about understanding what it really means to love.
[25:37] Speaker 3: And I don't know, No, I love it. Yeah, I
[25:41] Speaker 3: think I love you your take on it. And I
[25:43] Speaker 3: think it's a great conversation to have with men.
[25:46] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[25:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, I just wish they could hear because I feel
[25:49] Speaker 3: like a lot of men will get defensive when they
[25:52] Speaker 3: hear that. Yeah, some men hear it because they've been
[25:55] Speaker 3: married and they're happily married. Yeah, emphasis and happily married.
[25:59] Speaker 3: They understand and that it's mutual submission. Especially the Bible
[26:03] Speaker 3: talks about mutual submission. A lot of people don't focus
[26:05] Speaker 3: on that either.
[26:06] Speaker 2: We pick and choose, We pick and choose, We pick.
[26:09] Speaker 3: And choose, like our parents do that too, Like honor
[26:12] Speaker 3: your parents, but also parents don't provoke your children around.
[26:18] Speaker 2: They stop stop, you know, no, seriously.
[26:28] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[26:29] Speaker 2: I just I think that's part of it too.
[26:31] Speaker 3: It's like when you're when you're kind of on your
[26:34] Speaker 3: own little That's why I have the orbital tribe. When
[26:37] Speaker 3: your own orbit, sometimes it takes longer to make a
[26:40] Speaker 3: full revolution and encounter another.
[26:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, the same orbits exactly. You talked about fasting. This
[26:47] Speaker 1: is actually a conversation we had in the garage after
[26:49] Speaker 1: we just finished filming and you were talking about fasting.
[26:53] Speaker 1: I didn't know you started fasting at at the age
[26:55] Speaker 1: of twenty, like that was when you.
[26:56] Speaker 2: Start even young.
[26:58] Speaker 3: I think I tried one time when I was in
[27:00] Speaker 3: I tried in high school too.
[27:02] Speaker 2: I was not fasting.
[27:03] Speaker 1: I didn't do that until probably until I really like
[27:06] Speaker 1: got became an adult or I understood what it meant.
[27:08] Speaker 2: You know, I saw my parents fastening.
[27:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, see, yeah, I saw my parents fast and so
[27:14] Speaker 3: I tried that.
[27:15] Speaker 2: And yeah, in my twenties is when I really picked up.
[27:18] Speaker 3: And now mid thirties, trying to get right back into
[27:22] Speaker 3: the swing of it, because you know, with our job,
[27:25] Speaker 3: it's not always you know, always know where you're going
[27:28] Speaker 3: to be, what you're going to be doing right, and
[27:30] Speaker 3: you don't want to be trying to So yeah.
[27:33] Speaker 1: When you grew up in a Christian home, And you said,
[27:35] Speaker 1: I saw my mom and dad fasting. What did growing
[27:38] Speaker 1: up in that Christian home? What did it do to
[27:40] Speaker 1: shape who you are today? Because I was just blown
[27:42] Speaker 1: away just by our conversation in the garage that day,
[27:45] Speaker 1: Like I love when things happen like that where we
[27:47] Speaker 1: just start talking about the Lord and like, well by
[27:49] Speaker 1: fast and like, oh I want to fast and I
[27:51] Speaker 1: was doing this we had just finished with Lyn and
[27:53] Speaker 1: you were like, let's do it together, you know, And
[27:55] Speaker 1: I love that that orbit who's your tribe, you know,
[27:58] Speaker 1: people that like are in.
[27:59] Speaker 2: Alignment and that can like help you along the way.
[28:02] Speaker 1: So what well, yeah, of course, no, thank you, and
[28:05] Speaker 1: I can't wait to do it together.
[28:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[28:07] Speaker 1: I just had doctor Sabe's daughter and she was talking
[28:10] Speaker 1: about the three Day Fast and I was like, we
[28:12] Speaker 1: were talking about that.
[28:13] Speaker 4: Watch that.
[28:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so good, so good. Subscribe I'll see.
[28:16] Speaker 3: When I was like telling when it comes out, I
[28:17] Speaker 3: was like I'm subscribed, thank you, But.
[28:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to know, like what was what was that?
[28:24] Speaker 2: How did that shape who you are today?
[28:25] Speaker 1: Because I'm really fascinated about how even just in conversation
[28:28] Speaker 1: is so enlightening when you talk to people about God
[28:30] Speaker 1: and your faith.
[28:32] Speaker 3: Yes, I mean I tell my parents all the time.
[28:36] Speaker 3: My parents weren't perfect people. But I mean the more
[28:40] Speaker 3: that I heal, the more I look back, I'm like,
[28:42] Speaker 3: I had a fun child. I think when I was
[28:44] Speaker 3: still healing, and I'm still healing, but just when things
[28:47] Speaker 3: were more, when I was more wounded, I should say, yeah.
[28:51] Speaker 4: I was like, no, they all these things, but I
[28:54] Speaker 4: look back and there was just so much good. And
[28:57] Speaker 4: I tell my parents all the time, if y'all did
[29:00] Speaker 4: nothing right, not one thing right, except for raised me
[29:06] Speaker 4: in the fear and aminitiony to the Lord, that was enough.
[29:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, that was enough.
[29:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, because they couldn't help me get on systems. They
[29:18] Speaker 3: couldn't help me through school, They couldn't help me through
[29:22] Speaker 3: my job. Like honestly, my parents even qualify for a
[29:25] Speaker 3: parent plus loan because they just fell on hard times.
[29:30] Speaker 3: My dad was an entrepreneur, and you know, before Obama,
[29:33] Speaker 3: like it wasn't universal health not that we have universal
[29:36] Speaker 3: health care now, but it's.
[29:39] Speaker 4: Some iteration of universal health care.
[29:41] Speaker 3: But I mean, so when my dad was sick, it
[29:44] Speaker 3: was out of pocket on us, Like you know, it's
[29:47] Speaker 3: anyway they couldn't help me in a lot of monetary ways,
[29:52] Speaker 3: but raising me to love God, yeah, before anything and anybody. Yeah,
[30:01] Speaker 3: and that's the foundation that carries us.
[30:04] Speaker 2: Yeah. None, that is so true.
[30:06] Speaker 1: Speaking of faith, something that I'm still trying to grapple
[30:11] Speaker 1: with is who I am on TV and who I
[30:15] Speaker 1: am in real life, and is the character that I'm
[30:18] Speaker 1: portraying is God okay with it? Have you ever felt that,
[30:23] Speaker 1: like because you know what I'm saying, like the things
[30:26] Speaker 1: that we do, but then how we live our real life,
[30:29] Speaker 1: like and we have me and Zach on that we've
[30:32] Speaker 1: we haven't really had to have sex a lot like
[30:34] Speaker 1: we were that during that in the beginning, it was.
[30:37] Speaker 2: A lot and I was just like, oh my god,
[30:39] Speaker 2: you never knew.
[30:40] Speaker 1: No, that's that's one of my and my writer like
[30:43] Speaker 1: no frontal if it is it's chess the chest, but
[30:47] Speaker 1: I have on nipple covers so like I'm not actually
[30:50] Speaker 1: touching him. It was so much even with the MC coordinator,
[30:54] Speaker 1: like these are my guidelines. This is where he can
[30:56] Speaker 1: grab me only on my waist, no butt grabbing, Like
[31:00] Speaker 1: very very particular about those scenes. And I love how
[31:04] Speaker 1: now like I think with our money, he's like he'll
[31:07] Speaker 1: see it and it'll be like one minute of like
[31:11] Speaker 1: passionate sex. He's like, yeah, we're not doing that. He
[31:13] Speaker 1: said it'd be like yealler's ha. Then flip over. I'm like, Okay,
[31:17] Speaker 1: I like that, we can do that.
[31:19] Speaker 3: It takes too much time. You got to get the
[31:20] Speaker 3: intimate sycordinated in. You gotta get everybody.
[31:22] Speaker 2: Out way too much. Yeah.
[31:24] Speaker 1: But are you ever like conflicted because I've gone through
[31:27] Speaker 1: these times where I'm like a little conflicted about what
[31:30] Speaker 1: I'm putting out there on TV. And that's why I
[31:32] Speaker 1: go so hard on this to put try to like
[31:35] Speaker 1: kind of balance it out. You know.
[31:37] Speaker 3: I'm more concerned with messaging because Danny is a sinner,
[31:46] Speaker 3: we all are.
[31:47] Speaker 2: Center is gonna send it's a character?
[31:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, is there a redemptive art?
[31:55] Speaker 3: What is what's our messaging? What story are we telling?
[31:58] Speaker 3: What messaging are putting out into the world. That's what
[32:02] Speaker 3: I care more about, because even Jesus praised the shrewd
[32:07] Speaker 3: servant who was stealing essentially, Yeah, because I mean so
[32:13] Speaker 3: I tell people that storytelling is spiritual because what did
[32:19] Speaker 3: Jesus do in order to get his message?
[32:22] Speaker 2: Stories?
[32:24] Speaker 3: Storytelling is a ministry and that's why that's why there's
[32:29] Speaker 3: so much darkness in Hollywood, because the enemy understands how
[32:32] Speaker 3: powerful storytelling is.
[32:33] Speaker 2: Right. I think that's my point.
[32:35] Speaker 3: Like, yes, and so I don't mind a character who's
[32:39] Speaker 3: a sinner. I send too. I might not send the
[32:42] Speaker 3: same way she does, but what is our message? That's
[32:50] Speaker 3: that's where you know, I'm trying to tweak things here
[32:52] Speaker 3: and tweak things There's like and I catch things from
[32:55] Speaker 3: a you know, the female perspective, and like we've had those.
[32:58] Speaker 1: Conversations, yeah, where we're like, Okay, where is she going?
[33:02] Speaker 4: Is?
[33:02] Speaker 2: What are we doing here? What's the story we're telling?
[33:04] Speaker 1: And then we're able to go back and say, okay,
[33:05] Speaker 1: like this or this is fine, but we need to
[33:08] Speaker 1: see where she's going. When you say the redemptive arc,
[33:11] Speaker 1: where is this going? And house can she redeem herself?
[33:13] Speaker 1: That's one thing I love about Denzel when he plays
[33:16] Speaker 1: all these characters. And he talked about training day and
[33:19] Speaker 1: he said, yeah, he was doing all these horrible things,
[33:21] Speaker 1: he said, but at the end he did.
[33:22] Speaker 2: Originally he didn't die.
[33:23] Speaker 1: He said I wanted him to have or he did die,
[33:25] Speaker 1: but he said, I wanted it to be brutal.
[33:28] Speaker 2: He was like, and that's why it was as bad
[33:29] Speaker 2: as it was, He said, I need.
[33:30] Speaker 1: Them to understand when you do we're on these are
[33:33] Speaker 1: the consequences, Like you can't just get away with it,
[33:36] Speaker 1: you know.
[33:37] Speaker 2: And it made me look at it different. But just
[33:39] Speaker 2: listening to you, even just.
[33:40] Speaker 1: Now, really helped me kind of process it and not
[33:43] Speaker 1: be so judgmental of the character, like overthinking it because
[33:47] Speaker 1: my parents always like, it's sorrytelling you're just portraying a
[33:49] Speaker 1: character that's not who you are. But I'm like, but
[33:52] Speaker 1: what is somebody out there is really taking that Fatima
[33:54] Speaker 1: serious and like she's always carrying a gun and ready
[33:56] Speaker 1: to book up on people and think that's the way
[33:58] Speaker 1: to live, you know.
[34:00] Speaker 2: So I was always like mindful of those things.
[34:03] Speaker 3: And I understand that and I agree with that. I
[34:06] Speaker 3: think it's the job of us, Crystal in your mind,
[34:11] Speaker 3: to be and embody our beliefs in our life, yes,
[34:17] Speaker 3: our characters. And now if I can't say this, I'm
[34:20] Speaker 3: sure you can cut it. But we got this discussion
[34:23] Speaker 3: for season ten storyline is like, if this is not
[34:25] Speaker 3: going to serve a purpose, then I don't know why
[34:29] Speaker 3: we're doing it.
[34:30] Speaker 2: Because we've done this.
[34:32] Speaker 3: Right, Yes, it's brutal. What are we saying? What is
[34:36] Speaker 3: the point of it? And I think that's what storytellers
[34:40] Speaker 3: have to take into account, not just entertainment, because there
[34:45] Speaker 3: are young girls watching us. And that's why I said
[34:49] Speaker 3: it on Twitter this season with Jonah. I said, it's
[34:56] Speaker 3: important for you to know, ladies and gentlemen, that we
[35:00] Speaker 3: have to stop putting the onus on girls to not
[35:02] Speaker 3: be attacked.
[35:04] Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, when we talked about that too, and that
[35:06] Speaker 1: when we're on the phone. Yeah, just because she's wearing
[35:08] Speaker 1: a short dress, she's asking to be raped.
[35:10] Speaker 3: Non men have to start teaching men to be safe.
[35:15] Speaker 3: And yes, I understand there's always going to be criminals
[35:18] Speaker 3: in the world, but good girls get attacked too.
[35:22] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[35:26] Speaker 3: Bad things happen to good people too. Yeah, so how do.
[35:28] Speaker 2: We explain that? Yeah? How do we put the onus
[35:32] Speaker 2: on the girl? Then?
[35:33] Speaker 3: Right, she wasn't drinking, she wasn't wearing anything wrong, she
[35:37] Speaker 3: wasn't teasing anybody.
[35:39] Speaker 4: Yeah, she was at the library, right, she.
[35:42] Speaker 2: Was out jogging in the park. Yeah.
[35:48] Speaker 3: Okay, ladies, and you to take self to finished classes. Okay,
[35:51] Speaker 3: she took a self to finished class. He had a
[35:53] Speaker 3: gun yeah, So I think it's most important for us
[35:57] Speaker 3: to understand what stories we're telling, what's the messaging. And
[36:01] Speaker 3: I understand what you're saying about you know, Fatima and
[36:04] Speaker 3: Danny and all of that, But I just think that
[36:10] Speaker 3: things like having Danny in therapy and having Fatima be
[36:13] Speaker 3: the one who referred the therapist that matters to those
[36:19] Speaker 3: And I think that, you know, every TV show can't
[36:23] Speaker 3: be the chosen.
[36:24] Speaker 2: Right right.
[36:26] Speaker 1: Right, you know who else? I talked to Divine Franklin
[36:29] Speaker 1: about this. I always talk to people who I know
[36:31] Speaker 1: are are strong in their faith about when I have questions,
[36:35] Speaker 1: and he was like, Crystal, he said, there's so many
[36:37] Speaker 1: different characters in the Bible. And he was like, so
[36:40] Speaker 1: what we're doing is just like just we're acting. We're
[36:43] Speaker 1: playing characters in real life. And he said, in those
[36:46] Speaker 1: characters in the Bible were living their real life at
[36:48] Speaker 1: that time.
[36:48] Speaker 4: He said, you had all different types of people. And
[36:51] Speaker 4: Sampson was an acting baby, but hello, he was not acting,
[37:01] Speaker 4: but he was. But he's still failful. He's still fail
[37:03] Speaker 4: for it.
[37:05] Speaker 2: Seriously.
[37:06] Speaker 1: So I've had these conversations with a lot of people,
[37:10] Speaker 1: just especially they're in the industry, but also of the faith.
[37:12] Speaker 2: They're like, how do you feel about this?
[37:15] Speaker 3: But also, you don't control. You're not in the writer's room.
[37:18] Speaker 2: I'm not in the writers.
[37:19] Speaker 4: You don't control. You don't control what your character does.
[37:22] Speaker 3: I mean obviously where we are, Thankfully we're in this
[37:25] Speaker 3: space to be able to call on Mone and be
[37:27] Speaker 3: like yeah, yeah, saying but I also don't think it's
[37:35] Speaker 3: realistic to try to have every character be a saint.
[37:39] Speaker 4: No, because it's almost isn't it almost.
[37:42] Speaker 3: Self righteous if we think we have to play perfect
[37:45] Speaker 3: characters if we ourselves aren't perfect. I'm not saying that
[37:48] Speaker 3: to you, but I'm saying like, because I did have something.
[37:50] Speaker 3: I'm saying that because I did have a church lady
[37:53] Speaker 3: email me season one about Danny.
[37:55] Speaker 2: Wow, I just ignored it. Yeah, I was just like
[37:59] Speaker 2: mm hmmm, mm hmm. It's hypocritical, Like it's self righteous.
[38:03] Speaker 3: I mean, no, like I don't want little girls to
[38:06] Speaker 3: live the way Danny lives. But I still don't think
[38:08] Speaker 3: Danny's deserved the stuff she went through, you know what
[38:10] Speaker 3: I mean.
[38:11] Speaker 2: Like, so I just.
[38:13] Speaker 3: It is it is a tightrope, but I think it's
[38:16] Speaker 3: also just understanding. Like Devon said, like, look at the
[38:19] Speaker 3: people God used, come on, Rahab is in the lineage
[38:23] Speaker 3: of Jesus, like when you look at Matthew, Yeah, that
[38:28] Speaker 3: working girl.
[38:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, it is in the lineage of work is m.
[38:34] Speaker 3: So I don't think it's about God looking for people
[38:36] Speaker 3: who are perfect. It's about God looking for people who
[38:40] Speaker 3: have hearts that are looking for him. It's not to
[38:43] Speaker 3: say that we continue and sin so that grace may
[38:45] Speaker 3: have bound me. But yes, no, but I mean, yeah,
[38:47] Speaker 3: I think playing a character who is imperfect is it's
[38:53] Speaker 3: not only natural, but why would people watch it if
[38:57] Speaker 3: it's not relatable? And then it's my job as a
[39:00] Speaker 3: door tell her to have some message in there. Yeah,
[39:03] Speaker 3: that I'm trying to download to people.
[39:05] Speaker 2: Right, I love that. I love that.
[39:07] Speaker 1: In the industry, is there any roles that you like,
[39:10] Speaker 1: are genres that you're like, I won't do that.
[39:13] Speaker 3: Is there any type of probably horror? Because I don't
[39:15] Speaker 3: like it. I don't watch it in my own either.
[39:17] Speaker 1: I'll be scared, Like even there's something I'm so scary.
[39:23] Speaker 1: And if I do watch something that people say, like,
[39:25] Speaker 1: you gotta watch it, it's so good, I'll like try
[39:27] Speaker 1: to watch it in the daytime because I am I
[39:29] Speaker 1: won't be able to sleep at night.
[39:30] Speaker 2: I'm so scared, I can't do it. Yeah, Horror is
[39:33] Speaker 2: definitely one of those.
[39:34] Speaker 1: And then I used to say, like those like demonic movies,
[39:39] Speaker 1: like I'm really big on spirits.
[39:42] Speaker 2: We're talking about that too, uh huh, yes.
[39:45] Speaker 1: Sure did, yes, yes, yes, that's another one, like I think,
[39:51] Speaker 1: what was it like the Exorcists and the one that
[39:56] Speaker 1: Lee Daniels just did where they had the preacher there.
[39:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, talk about that one.
[40:02] Speaker 1: Those are true stories, you know, so it's like and
[40:05] Speaker 1: demons are real.
[40:08] Speaker 2: No, the one that Lee Daniels.
[40:09] Speaker 1: Did, what was it called the There's Something?
[40:14] Speaker 2: Was it something?
[40:14] Speaker 1: But yeah, that was that was a true story. But
[40:17] Speaker 1: they had a pastor on set praying every day.
[40:20] Speaker 2: But the Deliverance, but I know that. And then in
[40:24] Speaker 2: the I didn't.
[40:25] Speaker 1: I never watched it, but I've watched a lot of
[40:27] Speaker 1: the commentary about it when people were getting online talking
[40:29] Speaker 1: about it. The importance of binding demons in the name
[40:34] Speaker 1: of Jesus, and that was like the biggest part takeaway
[40:37] Speaker 1: from that movie. And I was like, Okay, I guess
[40:38] Speaker 1: if I had to watch it. When I see stuff
[40:40] Speaker 1: like that, I'm like, it makes me more comfortable.
[40:42] Speaker 2: Because I know you can. They did cover that in
[40:44] Speaker 2: the movie. That's yes, Yeah, so that's good. But I'm scary.
[40:49] Speaker 3: That's why I stopped watching that show Evil. I like
[40:52] Speaker 3: that show a lot. I liked it, but I realized
[40:56] Speaker 3: why they didn't talk about the power of the name
[40:59] Speaker 3: of Jesus because the show have been over in two minutes.
[41:01] Speaker 3: Wouldn't beinish show it be short, wouldn't even been a shorter,
[41:05] Speaker 3: been a skit, like because they tremble at the name
[41:08] Speaker 3: of Jesus. Yes, you see what I'm saying. So, I mean,
[41:15] Speaker 3: I believe in portals being opened up. I believe in
[41:18] Speaker 3: I believe that demons have territory, like when Jesus cast
[41:23] Speaker 3: Legion out of the gentleman and the gatherings, and they
[41:27] Speaker 3: were like, don't make us leave this area, let us
[41:31] Speaker 3: go into the pigs, and then they went into the water.
[41:34] Speaker 3: But water is a body too, that's why it's called
[41:36] Speaker 3: a body of water. Come on, they need to stay
[41:40] Speaker 3: in their territory. Yeah, And I believe that demons have
[41:43] Speaker 3: like territory on blood lines because of you know, Great
[41:47] Speaker 3: Granny putting roots on Grand dadd because he wouldn't stop
[41:49] Speaker 3: messing with Shirlene and now now this, now there's the
[41:54] Speaker 3: devil has a demonic contract with this bloodline because of
[41:59] Speaker 3: Grandma playing in which craft and not realizing the ramifications
[42:02] Speaker 3: of it.
[42:02] Speaker 1: No, you aresocated. I was just having a conversation with
[42:04] Speaker 1: a friend of mine. He's also in the industry. He's Nigerian,
[42:08] Speaker 1: and he found out that the strongholds that were all
[42:11] Speaker 1: in his life came from his lineage and how they
[42:14] Speaker 1: were practicing witchcraft back in Africa and it like passed
[42:17] Speaker 1: down to his father to him and he didn't know that,
[42:20] Speaker 1: but he's been delivered since then.
[42:22] Speaker 2: But he was like, it was so much.
[42:23] Speaker 1: I learned when he finally went to go visit his
[42:25] Speaker 1: father and I was like, goodness, like that that bloodline
[42:29] Speaker 1: is serious.
[42:30] Speaker 2: I called my grandma and my dad.
[42:32] Speaker 3: I said, did we have a root lady in our
[42:34] Speaker 3: family or did anybody put roots on anybody?
[42:36] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[42:37] Speaker 3: And my dad said on his side, he had an auntie.
[42:41] Speaker 3: People gaming roots.
[42:43] Speaker 2: Now explain roots.
[42:46] Speaker 3: Literally a plant room and like, I don't know what
[42:49] Speaker 3: they would do, but I think you would drink it
[42:51] Speaker 3: or get them to eat it, or get them to
[42:52] Speaker 3: drink it. I don't know the whole process, but she
[42:56] Speaker 3: had a book on I mean, I had to say witchcraft.
[43:00] Speaker 2: That's I guess that's what it is.
[43:01] Speaker 3: It was it was it was esoteric and it was
[43:04] Speaker 3: spiritual and it was.
[43:07] Speaker 2: So you know, witchcraft is the act of rebellion.
[43:10] Speaker 3: I believe it's the act of rebellion because instead of
[43:13] Speaker 3: using the power of God, you're trying to use your
[43:14] Speaker 3: own power. Yeah, you're trying to control the circumstances of outcome.
[43:18] Speaker 3: And that's what her book was. It was just like
[43:21] Speaker 3: roots and different things to make people do, you know,
[43:23] Speaker 3: control things and manipulate, right, And I feel.
[43:26] Speaker 1: Like when people do that, it's it's the very not
[43:29] Speaker 1: office rebellion, but also some type of hurt where it's
[43:34] Speaker 1: something didn't go or you feel betrayed by God that
[43:37] Speaker 1: causes you to veer off, you know.
[43:39] Speaker 2: And no, you're not you a witch.
[43:45] Speaker 4: No, no, no, it's love and it's light.
[43:47] Speaker 3: But as you're trying to control an outcome, Yeah, that's
[43:50] Speaker 3: why there isn't as much condemnation in my heart. It's like,
[43:54] Speaker 3: you want to control things, and I get that, Yeah,
[43:58] Speaker 3: But the same way, we're a host for the Holy Spirit,
[44:02] Speaker 3: which becomes a host for the yes of the enemy.
[44:06] Speaker 2: Of our soul. Yeah, yeah, so that's so true. Yeah,
[44:11] Speaker 2: my goodness.
[44:14] Speaker 1: I want to talk about We're gonna switch gears a
[44:17] Speaker 1: little bit, talking about how coming into where we are
[44:21] Speaker 1: kind of stilling the same thing, but how life has changed,
[44:24] Speaker 1: even dealing with like finance, because it's something else you
[44:26] Speaker 1: talk about all the time we talk about finances. I've
[44:30] Speaker 1: talked to you about my financial advisor, my accountant, and
[44:33] Speaker 1: how she's like got me right, because taxes is something
[44:36] Speaker 1: that just hits different now. I called me one day
[44:43] Speaker 1: about eyes red.
[44:48] Speaker 2: He said, I just paid the eye urs. I said, oh, brother,
[44:54] Speaker 2: I feel your.
[44:54] Speaker 3: Pain that ever come give me because the amount of
[44:59] Speaker 3: money I give y'all, you better not ever come get me.
[45:02] Speaker 2: Seriously too much. It's too much, too much.
[45:08] Speaker 1: What did you like going from both of us going
[45:11] Speaker 1: from making what we were making to now, from what
[45:16] Speaker 1: we were making to now, what are some of the
[45:19] Speaker 1: lessons you had to learn and even pivoting and some
[45:21] Speaker 1: of the even mistakes that you made, and like, ooh,
[45:24] Speaker 1: just not knowing because I know where I'm from.
[45:27] Speaker 2: I wasn't taught how to save.
[45:29] Speaker 1: I wasn't taught like my dad taught us not to overspend,
[45:33] Speaker 1: like if you're going to give somebody something, if don't
[45:36] Speaker 1: expect it back, just give what you can give you.
[45:38] Speaker 1: If you can't give it without expecting it back, you
[45:40] Speaker 1: don't have enough. Yeah, And he would always say, I'm like, Dad,
[45:44] Speaker 1: I need this. He's like, I ain't got it. But
[45:46] Speaker 1: if he didn't have it, but he still had a
[45:48] Speaker 1: lot of money in the bank, but he had a
[45:50] Speaker 1: bottom line, and that was one thing he did teach me,
[45:52] Speaker 1: the bottom line. But when it came to like learning
[45:54] Speaker 1: how to save, I didn't know how to do that.
[45:56] Speaker 2: I didn't know how to budget.
[45:58] Speaker 1: You know, So, what are some mistakes that you made
[46:01] Speaker 1: once you, like really started or were you already ready
[46:04] Speaker 1: once you started.
[46:04] Speaker 2: Making a lot of money?
[46:05] Speaker 3: So similar, But my mom is a big saver, so
[46:07] Speaker 3: I didn't know how to say. So I do have
[46:10] Speaker 3: a lot saved, but that's the problem. It's time to
[46:14] Speaker 3: make my money, start making money for me, especially because
[46:17] Speaker 3: of the way this industry is.
[46:18] Speaker 2: Oh gosh, after strike, I said, ha ha.
[46:21] Speaker 1: What she's not gonna do is ever catch me slipping
[46:23] Speaker 1: jokes on you, right, will not be on me.
[46:27] Speaker 4: Yes.
[46:27] Speaker 3: So now that's what I'm trying to figure out as
[46:29] Speaker 3: well to what does it look like to really start
[46:32] Speaker 3: to build. Well, yeah, I think I've been playing chess.
[46:36] Speaker 3: That's time started playing checkers. I got to really and
[46:38] Speaker 3: I would say a mistake I made was taking the
[46:43] Speaker 3: the LMA.
[46:45] Speaker 2: With my portfolio. Yeah, I should have done that.
[46:52] Speaker 3: I should have done that, because it's it eats away
[46:55] Speaker 3: that all the money, that the money the accounts are
[46:57] Speaker 3: making the market.
[46:58] Speaker 2: And I'm like, because the interest rate on it is insane.
[47:01] Speaker 3: Right, it was low when I got it, but they
[47:04] Speaker 3: didn't tell me that, oh, hey, this is a variable
[47:06] Speaker 3: interest rate that could change, not a fixed fixed Wow.
[47:11] Speaker 3: And so they still haven't lowered the interest rates and
[47:13] Speaker 3: I'm still haven't been able to lock one in, just.
[47:16] Speaker 2: Trying to think about it. Right, to think that, because.
[47:20] Speaker 3: I also invested during a bear market, so right, and
[47:26] Speaker 3: then now it's like a it was a bull market
[47:29] Speaker 3: for a while.
[47:30] Speaker 2: Right now, I don't know what it is.
[47:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I am one of the investments that I
[47:35] Speaker 1: made early on when we started making It's funny because Deuce,
[47:38] Speaker 1: our first ad for the first few seasons we shot,
[47:41] Speaker 1: he called me season one and he goes, you need
[47:43] Speaker 1: a financial advisor, and I was like, okay, yeah, I
[47:46] Speaker 1: do like, you know, somebody's I got somebody, I'm going
[47:48] Speaker 1: to send them to you, he said, Because you're about
[47:50] Speaker 1: to start making more money than you used to. He said,
[47:52] Speaker 1: so I want you to make sure that you stew
[47:53] Speaker 1: it over it properly. And I was like, thank you,
[47:55] Speaker 1: shout out a duce for that. You know, always looking
[47:57] Speaker 1: at good people, you know. And so I met with
[48:01] Speaker 1: the guy and then he actually introduced me to Alicia.
[48:04] Speaker 1: That guy did. So it's like just I just kept
[48:06] Speaker 1: meeting good people. And I remember it was this kid
[48:10] Speaker 1: that I grew up with. His family had left my farm, yes,
[48:15] Speaker 1: and he started growing cannabis on it, and this is
[48:20] Speaker 1: like cannabis. It was booming and I was like yo.
[48:22] Speaker 1: I was like, this is built right in my hometown.
[48:25] Speaker 1: We can create jobs with this. I was like, I'll
[48:27] Speaker 1: put one hundred thousand in it, and he was like.
[48:29] Speaker 2: Okay, great.
[48:30] Speaker 1: The return was supposed to be I could either get
[48:33] Speaker 1: equity in the company or within the next two years,
[48:36] Speaker 1: I could get my money back with like interests added
[48:39] Speaker 1: on to it, so I would make a profit. And
[48:42] Speaker 1: we agreed that we would do the profit part. I mean,
[48:44] Speaker 1: they get my money back with the profit on top
[48:47] Speaker 1: of interest, give him money.
[48:50] Speaker 2: I ain't got a dime. Do you hear me when
[48:54] Speaker 2: I tell you? I felt? And I mean, this is
[48:56] Speaker 2: a part of investing, and you have contracts and you
[48:59] Speaker 2: like West not like he was. He did business with
[49:02] Speaker 2: him too, and I will find you. I will hunt
[49:06] Speaker 2: you down. Wait wait, wait, wait, you're not telling me
[49:09] Speaker 2: what happened. Wait what happened, honey? This man didn't went
[49:12] Speaker 2: and spent the money on his wedding. Yes, flexing. It
[49:16] Speaker 2: was crazy.
[49:17] Speaker 1: And then I had my dad called his aunt because
[49:19] Speaker 1: she like worked with him as well. And he kept talking,
[49:22] Speaker 1: I gonna send you like seventy some thousand. Now, I'm
[49:24] Speaker 1: gonna go ahead and seen you like a portion of it.
[49:26] Speaker 1: I was like okay, and then he's like the why
[49:27] Speaker 1: should be hitting any time?
[49:28] Speaker 2: Now?
[49:29] Speaker 1: My aunt just went to the bank. He forgot Martin's
[49:32] Speaker 1: a small town. I said, Daddy, you know so and
[49:35] Speaker 1: so and he said yeah, he said, I'm doing some
[49:37] Speaker 1: work on her house.
[49:38] Speaker 2: I said, give me her number. H I called her.
[49:42] Speaker 1: She said, I have no idea what you're talking about.
[49:44] Speaker 1: Just a lot girl like wante this is. I was
[49:47] Speaker 1: so excited about this investment, thinking like this gotta be
[49:50] Speaker 1: something really big, and when when that's one of your
[49:54] Speaker 1: first investments and you're you're just starting to really make money,
[49:57] Speaker 1: but you want to like this is something I saw
[49:59] Speaker 1: the RETI on it. I'm like, people are making a
[50:01] Speaker 1: lot of money if I get in it early, Like
[50:04] Speaker 1: this could be something great and we're giving back to
[50:06] Speaker 1: my hometown community. It was one of those things that
[50:09] Speaker 1: kind of scared me, and I was afraid to invest
[50:11] Speaker 1: in people and their businesses for a while, and I
[50:16] Speaker 1: to this day, I just when we were talking about it,
[50:18] Speaker 1: I hadn't thought about that in a while.
[50:19] Speaker 2: I want my money back now.
[50:21] Speaker 1: Man, Man like I had the fellow of the guy
[50:26] Speaker 1: was dated at the time, and he was just sending
[50:28] Speaker 1: us in circles.
[50:30] Speaker 2: But that was like that was I mean, it was
[50:31] Speaker 2: a mistake that I made. You think it was a mistake.
[50:35] Speaker 2: It wasn't mistake. It was just a bad investment. Yeah.
[50:38] Speaker 1: He just wasn't an integral person. See that's why I'm
[50:42] Speaker 1: slow to do stuff.
[50:43] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[50:45] Speaker 1: I think that's why it's hard for me to like
[50:46] Speaker 1: even do business with people, like let's do this together,
[50:49] Speaker 1: because I just don't know how you're going to act,
[50:51] Speaker 1: you know, Like I got good people around me now
[50:54] Speaker 1: where I trust him. Like me and Westcott, we go
[50:56] Speaker 1: back years like when I had nothing, we both was struggling,
[51:00] Speaker 1: you know. So that's somebody that I know, like if
[51:03] Speaker 1: we did business together, he's not gonna like screw me over,
[51:06] Speaker 1: you know.
[51:06] Speaker 2: But it's it's hard. That's always yesterday asking chat GPT.
[51:12] Speaker 3: Is it legal to do a mental health screening before
[51:17] Speaker 3: hiring someone? It needs to be legal, No, because people
[51:23] Speaker 3: be pre hospital dealing with you.
[51:26] Speaker 2: No, seriously, And I don't know.
[51:31] Speaker 3: I don't know what you want me to do because
[51:33] Speaker 3: I'm human too. I make mistakes too. I'm dealing with
[51:36] Speaker 3: things too, and and I just yeah, it's tough. You'd
[51:43] Speaker 3: be trying to help people, trying to put people on
[51:46] Speaker 3: work with people.
[51:47] Speaker 2: Yeah. But that's the other thing that I think.
[51:50] Speaker 3: Part of the reason why I haven't done as much
[51:51] Speaker 3: investing too, is because I'll see something about somebody, but
[51:56] Speaker 3: then I'd be still trying to make it work.
[51:59] Speaker 2: It's a lack of trust to myself too. Yes, I
[52:01] Speaker 2: know exactly what you mean.
[52:03] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and be feeling like a bad person because
[52:07] Speaker 3: they're so nice. But I'm like I can just mm, yeah,
[52:13] Speaker 3: yeah something yes, and you gotta trust that.
[52:17] Speaker 1: You have to trust that God has given us that
[52:19] Speaker 1: that's that spirit of discernment that He has blessed us with.
[52:22] Speaker 1: And I'm telling you there's been so many times, just
[52:24] Speaker 1: like you were, I've ignored it and it came to
[52:26] Speaker 1: buy me in the But every single time, every single time.
[52:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's like now.
[52:31] Speaker 1: Like for me, say things are like real estate, like
[52:34] Speaker 1: I'll buy a house in a heartbeat, you know, any
[52:36] Speaker 1: type of property, I'll do that. It's just that that's
[52:39] Speaker 1: a safer, low risk investment for me that I know
[52:43] Speaker 1: I can control, you know, I have a little more
[52:46] Speaker 1: control over it. But when it comes to investing in
[52:49] Speaker 1: people and really taking a risk with other people, it's
[52:52] Speaker 1: really that really damaged me.
[52:54] Speaker 2: It really did. Yeah.
[52:56] Speaker 3: The other thing I was thinking too, about a relationship,
[52:58] Speaker 3: I was like, because that's how this one more talking
[53:00] Speaker 3: about how God wanted to heal her disappointment because she
[53:04] Speaker 3: realized that if God were to send the right person
[53:08] Speaker 3: in her life, she would still see life through the
[53:11] Speaker 3: lens of disappointment. And would you even be able to
[53:14] Speaker 3: open up to him and trust him. I'm like, because
[53:17] Speaker 3: out of all the videos that I suggested to me
[53:19] Speaker 3: that day, that one did, and I was like, oh.
[53:21] Speaker 2: That's good. He's healed me from disappointment.
[53:24] Speaker 3: Tell me from the disappointment and the lack of trust.
[53:26] Speaker 3: Because if it's a good dude, you're gonna sabotage it.
[53:29] Speaker 3: I don't even think it's I think that's part of it.
[53:31] Speaker 3: But I think it'll be more so like the only
[53:35] Speaker 3: people like if I'm a boundary person.
[53:37] Speaker 2: You know me, I'm a boundary person. I'm kind of guarded.
[53:40] Speaker 3: I'm like, but like you can still see it's like, yeah,
[53:44] Speaker 3: you know, you're a decent human being, so you're not
[53:48] Speaker 3: gonna try to climb over those boundaries. Right, So if
[53:50] Speaker 3: he's a decent person, he's gonna be like, I like her,
[53:52] Speaker 3: but I don't think she's I wouldn't even he wouldn't
[53:55] Speaker 3: even feel like he had the opportunity to be like, hey,
[53:59] Speaker 3: so yes, but somebody who is a narcissist will be like,
[54:02] Speaker 3: I can break down those boons, you know what I'm saying.
[54:06] Speaker 1: But is he a narcissist or somebody that like really
[54:08] Speaker 1: likes you is not going to give up.
[54:14] Speaker 3: I think that a good man will be in proximity
[54:19] Speaker 3: and will be It's kind of like when people rescue dogs,
[54:23] Speaker 3: they just sit. They'll sit there for an hour until
[54:25] Speaker 3: the dog comes to them. But human beings don't have
[54:29] Speaker 3: that type of time. If he's also a good man,
[54:33] Speaker 3: he would have to really hear from God just wait
[54:35] Speaker 3: for a second. Yeah, and not too many people go
[54:39] Speaker 3: to hear God that clearly and be that obedient. I'm
[54:42] Speaker 3: not saying this impossible. Yeah, but like why should he
[54:45] Speaker 3: have to go through all that? Let me do my
[54:46] Speaker 3: human I'm not a rescue German shepherd, like I need to,
[54:50] Speaker 3: you know, continue to work on myself. But I just think.
[54:54] Speaker 3: I just think, And it doesn't make them a bad person.
[54:58] Speaker 3: Some of them, people who are super overseealou and go
[55:00] Speaker 3: try to Petter rescue. They get that and now you're
[55:02] Speaker 3: mad at the rescue and then the dog got to
[55:04] Speaker 3: get put down and.
[55:06] Speaker 2: Read the room, Yes you know what I mean.
[55:08] Speaker 3: But people can't read. People can't read people read. People
[55:13] Speaker 3: are socially illiterate.
[55:14] Speaker 2: Literally, Yes, that is funny.
[55:17] Speaker 1: When you think about your legacy and your future, what
[55:23] Speaker 1: is something that you want to leave behind that's impactful
[55:25] Speaker 1: to other people.
[55:29] Speaker 3: I haven't been asked that in such a long time. Really, Yeah,
[55:33] Speaker 3: So it's like gosh. I want to be concise. I
[55:38] Speaker 3: want to have a left of mark, especially with storytelling,
[55:44] Speaker 3: that will make people feel less alone, will guide people
[55:53] Speaker 3: to the one who created them and have empowered them
[56:00] Speaker 3: to operate in their gifts and their purpose so that
[56:03] Speaker 3: they can do the exact same thing, like that ripple
[56:06] Speaker 3: effect of you know, a candle doesn't lose fire when
[56:12] Speaker 3: it lights another candle. So I want to light other
[56:15] Speaker 3: people's candles. I want people to see my stories and
[56:18] Speaker 3: feel like, all right, I can go. I can I
[56:21] Speaker 3: can take on the world. I can take on this classroom,
[56:24] Speaker 3: I can take on this disease, I can take on
[56:27] Speaker 3: this research project. And people are walking in their gift
[56:32] Speaker 3: and operating in their gift, and they know who they
[56:34] Speaker 3: belong to and who they are, and they feel empowered
[56:37] Speaker 3: and they love themselves because of the work that I've done.
[56:40] Speaker 3: And right now in this moment, I'm like I got
[56:43] Speaker 3: a lot of work.
[56:45] Speaker 2: We all do.
[56:46] Speaker 1: No And when people when you answer that question, you
[56:48] Speaker 1: do think you're like, oh, wait, there's more I gotta do.
[56:51] Speaker 3: I'm the same disappointment and the trauma, and it's the
[56:54] Speaker 3: trying and being pushed back down, like I don't know
[56:58] Speaker 3: when you got Fatima, maybe season two at least because
[57:03] Speaker 3: season one you were reoccurring. Ye season two.
[57:06] Speaker 4: When you saw that, he was like, all right, he's
[57:08] Speaker 4: giving you a shot.
[57:09] Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know about you.
[57:11] Speaker 3: But when Raven called me and told me I got
[57:14] Speaker 3: the role, I enjoyed it for like sixty two seconds,
[57:17] Speaker 3: and then I felt something in my spirit say, now
[57:19] Speaker 3: the real work begins.
[57:20] Speaker 2: Yes, oh, I had sure.
[57:22] Speaker 1: I went straight to back to studying school, like I
[57:25] Speaker 1: gotta get this.
[57:26] Speaker 2: I can't mess this up.
[57:27] Speaker 3: It was real work, just even just starting stuff like
[57:30] Speaker 3: starting your podcast, I'm sure, like getting other deals, doing
[57:34] Speaker 3: like the amount of work we still have to do,
[57:36] Speaker 3: even though we're series regulars on a hit show, Like
[57:40] Speaker 3: it's it's almost harder because it's the mental.
[57:44] Speaker 4: Warfare of what am I doing? Like what is the problem?
[57:48] Speaker 2: Like, yeah, it's a lot.
[57:50] Speaker 1: I was just telling my friend driving here today, she
[57:53] Speaker 1: was like, what are you doing?
[57:54] Speaker 2: I'm headed to the office.
[57:55] Speaker 1: I've been filming episodes all week And she goes, oh,
[57:58] Speaker 1: and she was like.
[57:59] Speaker 2: Shed been busy.
[58:00] Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, what straight from filming, straight to
[58:02] Speaker 1: BT Awards, straight to ABFF home to work. I said,
[58:06] Speaker 1: even when I'm off work. I'm working, you know, it
[58:09] Speaker 1: doesn't stop. And we've built these brands. We've been blessed
[58:12] Speaker 1: with the platform to be able to build brands off
[58:15] Speaker 1: of it so that when say, whenever Sisters may be done,
[58:19] Speaker 1: you know, then we're like, Okay, I've built enough that
[58:21] Speaker 1: I'm okay.
[58:22] Speaker 2: You know, We're not like, oh gosh, like what am
[58:24] Speaker 2: I gonna do now? You know?
[58:27] Speaker 1: But it's a thing like and people think it's we
[58:29] Speaker 1: make it look so easy.
[58:31] Speaker 2: It's not. It's just you.
[58:34] Speaker 4: You make it look like warm butter on warm toast.
[58:41] Speaker 2: My team probably say different.
[58:46] Speaker 4: Oh I know, she keep you all running because she
[58:47] Speaker 4: ain't stopped.
[58:49] Speaker 2: Don't stop.
[58:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what him and Shine I always say, Chrystal
[58:55] Speaker 1: will outwork you if you let her. Like, I'm right
[58:57] Speaker 1: there with them, like, let's go what we're doing. I
[58:59] Speaker 1: don't care what it is we're packing up. They like
[59:01] Speaker 1: sitting down, just giving her an Alani honey, and I'm
[59:05] Speaker 1: good to go charge.
[59:08] Speaker 4: Alani, give go ahead and send them money. Cut the check, Alani,
[59:13] Speaker 4: go ahead.
[59:13] Speaker 2: And send the check. Please check. Seriously.
[59:16] Speaker 1: No, I'm so grateful for them because when God does
[59:19] Speaker 1: bless you with ideas and you want to be creative.
[59:23] Speaker 1: The team is what hells push it, you know, Like
[59:25] Speaker 1: I could not do this without them. So that's the
[59:27] Speaker 1: warm butter on the bread, because I couldn't do without them.
[59:30] Speaker 3: See that's the I think that's the warfare too. It's
[59:33] Speaker 3: like relationships, yes, you know what I mean. We're two
[59:36] Speaker 3: or more gathered yep. And that's why I feel like
[59:39] Speaker 3: that's sometimes why it's hard. It's like just finding the
[59:42] Speaker 3: good people, the people that you don't feel like you
[59:44] Speaker 3: need a mental health screening for, like, and I feel
[59:47] Speaker 3: like that's been my struggle and that's been the warfare
[59:49] Speaker 3: for me.
[59:50] Speaker 2: It's like, oh God, can I just give me one Lord?
[59:54] Speaker 4: One?
[59:54] Speaker 1: And yeah, you know it's beautiful, glad you have that.
[59:57] Speaker 1: And then everybody just loves the Lord, you know, so
[59:59] Speaker 1: like we're all like you did two or three prayers
[1:00:02] Speaker 1: before we start, Okay.
[1:00:03] Speaker 2: We should did.
[1:00:04] Speaker 1: And I just got JB during BT Words when you
[1:00:07] Speaker 1: came to BT House and I was when we exchanged numbers.
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: I was going to be Psycho and put Christopher and
[1:00:14] Speaker 1: Hazel you're stuck with me. It's my contact name because
[1:00:18] Speaker 1: I was like, you have to come work with us,
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: Like yeah, there's where are we going where where you
[1:00:23] Speaker 1: thought you was going to know, you're stuck with us.
[1:00:27] Speaker 1: But I felt it like you feel it instantly. And
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: it's hard to find good people, especially in this day
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: and age, within this industry as well, because everybody has
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: ulterior motives. It's just like who is just loves what
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: they do. They're passionate. They're here to like just push
[1:00:41] Speaker 1: the dream.
[1:00:42] Speaker 2: You know.
[1:00:43] Speaker 1: It's a lot, but yeah, I think it's also a
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: passion So that's probably why it looks like it looks
[1:00:48] Speaker 1: easy because I love it.
[1:00:50] Speaker 2: I love it. Yeah, I can tell thank you.
[1:00:53] Speaker 1: So I want to talk about orbital tribe. Let's talk
[1:00:55] Speaker 1: about how did you even come up with the name?
[1:00:57] Speaker 3: What I was saying, like, I've always felt like I've
[1:00:59] Speaker 3: kind in my own orbit like feeling like that crazy
[1:01:03] Speaker 3: professor with the mustard stain dropping papers that nobody listens to.
[1:01:10] Speaker 3: I've always just kind of been different and walked to
[1:01:14] Speaker 3: the beat of my own drum, like in my own family.
[1:01:16] Speaker 3: It has been very you know, like just different, you know,
[1:01:22] Speaker 3: And thank God for the Bible, because without the Bible,
[1:01:27] Speaker 3: I would not be able to make peace with just
[1:01:31] Speaker 3: kind of being vulnerable here, not really having a sense
[1:01:36] Speaker 3: of belonging, and so the Orbital Tribe was really kind
[1:01:40] Speaker 3: of for those people that God has kind of called out,
[1:01:44] Speaker 3: even amongst the people He's called out, and say like, hey,
[1:01:49] Speaker 3: you might not get there the traditional way, people might
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: not always see you, but you can get there, which
[1:01:54] Speaker 3: is my story for this show. And that's what I
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: love about Tyler like key with me, Baby, you don't
[1:02:01] Speaker 3: mind a dimond in the rough, Baby.
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: He does not.
[1:02:04] Speaker 1: He said, We're gonna get this thing right, make it shine.
[1:02:07] Speaker 1: I was going through so much. Remember I had the
[1:02:09] Speaker 1: whole like breast cancer callback while we were filming.
[1:02:12] Speaker 2: And we had a scene.
[1:02:15] Speaker 1: The day before I had to go in for my appointment,
[1:02:19] Speaker 1: and I was just my brain was just like all
[1:02:21] Speaker 1: over the place and I was just like and.
[1:02:23] Speaker 2: You were looking at me, and I was like where
[1:02:27] Speaker 2: are we?
[1:02:27] Speaker 1: Like I could I could not track and musically like
[1:02:29] Speaker 1: I have a photographic memory, I can like see it
[1:02:32] Speaker 1: on the pages, so like, oh I know where we are?
[1:02:33] Speaker 2: Got it like one line? Got it that day? I
[1:02:36] Speaker 2: could not.
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: And I left and I was like, oh my god,
[1:02:38] Speaker 1: I hope Minyan does not hate me. She probably like, girl,
[1:02:40] Speaker 1: come on, because you had a crazy few days in
[1:02:42] Speaker 1: your house and it was a lot of content. So
[1:02:44] Speaker 1: I always liked to come in like when I'm coming,
[1:02:47] Speaker 1: I'm helping, I'm your your wing girl, you know. And
[1:02:50] Speaker 1: I just like I feel like I let you down
[1:02:52] Speaker 1: on that day and remember I hit you, not take and.
[1:02:54] Speaker 2: I'm like no, no, because like.
[1:02:58] Speaker 3: I felt like, because especially my storyline, I was like,
[1:03:01] Speaker 3: there's gotta be some grace because the day before, you
[1:03:05] Speaker 3: were at the townhouse.
[1:03:06] Speaker 2: All day, all day long. Yeah, we all have our days.
[1:03:09] Speaker 3: You were at the townhouse all day and then the
[1:03:11] Speaker 3: scene we shot was it wasn't seen.
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: It was scenes.
[1:03:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, weren't they wasn't it twenty pages pages y'all?
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: It was crazy. It was like boom boom, boom boom.
