[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Poly Market and
[0:02] Speaker 1: powered by PlayMaker.
[0:04] Speaker 2: We got it back.
[0:13] Speaker 1: We thought about it. We had deep distortion and discussion.
[0:16] Speaker 1: We couldn't land on anything else. We wanted to keep continuity.
[0:23] Speaker 1: Season 5. This is Gil's Arena. I'm your host, Josiah Johnson.
[0:26] Speaker 1: Here with NBA and 2K legend Gilbert Arenas.
[0:30] Speaker 2: Illuminator.
[0:32] Speaker 3: It ain't really like a legend. They calling me Boo
[0:37] Speaker 3: Boo Gil in the streets right now.
[0:40] Speaker 1: Next to Gil, and back on the couch, we got
[0:43] Speaker 1: NBA champion of the world, swaggy Pete Nick Young.
[0:46] Speaker 2: Damn.
[0:48] Speaker 3: Play my theme music. I need to change that.
[0:52] Speaker 4: What?
[0:53] Speaker 3: Nick does Dallas for the Rams.
[0:56] Speaker 4: In them streets, he is.
[0:57] Speaker 2: He does Dallas. Yeah, Nick does Dallas. Aaron Donald, Miles
[1:02] Speaker 2: Garrett got restraining orders on you. Yeah, they're afraid of you.
[1:05] Speaker 1: We're also joined by NBA champion of the world and
[1:09] Speaker 1: creator of the Tallest Tails Network on YouTube.
[1:12] Speaker 2: Give it up for Brendan Haywood.
[1:14] Speaker 5: The Wood is here.
[1:17] Speaker 3: The Wood is here. Let's go, baby.
[1:22] Speaker 1: And on this side of the couch, former college player
[1:24] Speaker 1: of the year, number two overall pick, played 10 seasons
[1:26] Speaker 1: in the league.
[1:27] Speaker 2: We got Evan Turner back here with us. Sexy shirt.
[1:32] Speaker 2: You got a sexy shirt.
[1:34] Speaker 5: C through F.
[1:35] Speaker 2: Sexy shirt, baby. Sexy love.
[1:37] Speaker 4: Y'all let him breathe.
[1:38] Speaker 2: Let him breathe.
[1:39] Speaker 4: Y'all let him breathe.
[1:41] Speaker 1: Last but not least, we got four-time All-Star, two-time All-NBA selection,
[1:44] Speaker 1: DeMarcus Cousins.
[1:46] Speaker 4: Back here with.
[1:51] Speaker 2: Us. DeMarcus Boogie, what do you prefer?
[1:54] Speaker 4: Man, I'm a man of many names, bro.
[1:55] Speaker 2: All right.
[1:57] Speaker 1: I don't know if I had to work my way
[1:58] Speaker 1: up to call you Boogie, but I'll earn your trust.
[2:02] Speaker 1: We've got a lot to get into. Here's what's cracking
[2:05] Speaker 1: in the arena today. The Knicks are running it back
[2:09] Speaker 1: this season after snapping their 53-year championship drought. Is it
[2:14] Speaker 1: enough to get them back to the finals, though? Didn't
[2:16] Speaker 1: make a lot of roster moves. Lost Mitchell Robinson. Got
[2:18] Speaker 1: Andre Drummond, though. Trying to go back-to-back. No team has
[2:21] Speaker 1: done it in the last eight seasons. Spurs are looking
[2:24] Speaker 1: to bounce back from their disappointing finals run. Does the
[2:27] Speaker 1: league run through Wimby in San Antonio this season? Some
[2:30] Speaker 1: big expectations for Wimby. Didn't take that full max. Gave
[2:35] Speaker 1: some bread back to make the team a little bit stronger.
[2:37] Speaker 1: We'll see if it pays off. And Minnesota made moves
[2:40] Speaker 1: with a blockbuster trade to land LaMelo Ball while also
[2:43] Speaker 1: grabbing Jonathan Kaminga. Are the Wolves a legit threat in
[2:47] Speaker 1: the West this season? We will discuss. But before we
[2:51] Speaker 1: get into all that, we got to talk about something, y'all.
[2:54] Speaker 1: Did you know these sportsbooks are out here doing you dirty?
[2:56] Speaker 1: the cash-out games, the shady odds, them deciding when you
[2:59] Speaker 1: can touch your own money. Nah, it's time for something different.
[3:02] Speaker 1: If you're tired of getting ganked, then delete your Sportsbook
[3:05] Speaker 1: app right now and have no fear because Polymarket is here.
[3:09] Speaker 1: Gil's Arena is presented by Polymarket. Shout out to the
[3:13] Speaker 1: good people over at Polymarket. Polymarket legal in all 50

[3:30] Speaker 1: 2024 MVP Josh Allen at 60% to throw at least
[3:33] Speaker 1: two passing touchdowns in the game. So despite the quick
[3:36] Speaker 1: turnaround from week one, I think Allen got that in him.
[3:38] Speaker 1: I did predict Patrick Mahomes two passing Ds.
[3:41] Speaker 2: I do. I do.
[3:42] Speaker 4: I got you.
[3:42] Speaker 5: We're going to go to the ATM after we get done.
[3:44] Speaker 2: With the show. You should have put the trade on Polymarket.
[3:47] Speaker 4: I know where you're going.
[3:48] Speaker 2: Use your prediction skills to put the trade on Polymarket.
[3:50] Speaker 2: You could have got it back.

[4:42] Speaker 4: All right.
[4:43] Speaker 1: Well, now we can get into the actual show. We
[4:44] Speaker 1: got to do the preamble, Gil. Pay the bills. Keep
[4:47] Speaker 1: the lights on. Hey, D, you better be careful.
[4:48] Speaker 3: I know.
[4:48] Speaker 2: You better be careful, bro.
[4:50] Speaker 3: Get a new cup.
[4:51] Speaker 2: Oh, my bad. My bad. Check the cup.
[4:53] Speaker 3: What's wrong with mine?
[4:54] Speaker 4: You don't want to drink out of Nick's cup.
[4:56] Speaker 2: Okay.
[4:57] Speaker 4: You don't want to drink out of my cup. I know.
[4:59] Speaker 4: I know.
[5:00] Speaker 3: All right.
[5:01] Speaker 2: Well, let's get into it. We're going to start in
[5:02] Speaker 2: the East.
[5:02] Speaker 1: After finishing third in the Eastern Conference last season, the
[5:05] Speaker 1: Knicks put together a historic playoff run capped off with
[5:08] Speaker 1: a gentleman's sweep of the Spurs' despite being down double
[5:11] Speaker 1: digits every single finals game, including their 29-point comeback in
[5:15] Speaker 1: Game 4 with O.J. Ananobi's tip-in seen around the basketball world.
[5:18] Speaker 1: So for the first time in 53 years, the Knicks
[5:20] Speaker 1: aren't entering a season-chasing history. They are defending it, and
[5:24] Speaker 1: they're running it back with their entire starting lineup and
[5:26] Speaker 1: bulk of their core from last season. They lost Mitchell
[5:29] Speaker 1: Robinson to the Celts in the offseason but replaced him
[5:31] Speaker 1: with Andre Drummond. There have been eight different champions in
[5:35] Speaker 1: the last eight seasons with no team that won a
[5:37] Speaker 1: chip in the previous season even returning to the finals
[5:40] Speaker 1: the following season.
[5:41] Speaker 2: So, Boogie, we're going to start with you.
[5:44] Speaker 1: Did the Knicks make the right move retaining their starting
[5:46] Speaker 1: five and core from the championship squad?
[5:48] Speaker 4: Absolutely. I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
[5:52] Speaker 4: They proved that they're the best team in the league.
[5:54] Speaker 4: They had a historic run. Why wouldn't you run it back?
[5:58] Speaker 4: I don't think adjustments are really necessary until they show
[6:02] Speaker 4: that they are needed. So, if I'm the Knicks, I'm
[6:04] Speaker 4: sticking with the same group. going into the year confident
[6:07] Speaker 4: in the East. They're probably the only team in the
[6:09] Speaker 4: East that didn't have some type of a big move
[6:12] Speaker 4: in the offseason, maybe outside of Atlanta, I believe. I
[6:15] Speaker 4: think they made a move as well. But they had
[6:18] Speaker 4: the team chemistry. They had the experience. They got the camaraderie.
[6:22] Speaker 4: For them, it's starting off where they left off. For
[6:25] Speaker 4: everybody else, it's figuring each other out. So I like
[6:28] Speaker 4: the position that the Knicks are in. And I had
[6:30] Speaker 4: to learn the hard way because I was one of the–
[6:32] Speaker 4: The biggest people that were against the movement in New
[6:35] Speaker 4: York last year, I didn't believe. But as of right now,
[6:38] Speaker 4: where they stand in the East, I think they're the
[6:40] Speaker 4: clear cut as far as where they stand right now. Now,
[6:44] Speaker 4: later on in the year, things can change. Teams can
[6:46] Speaker 4: get better. You know what I'm saying? But as of
[6:49] Speaker 4: right now, I think the Knicks are the favorite to
[6:51] Speaker 4: come out of the East.
[6:52] Speaker 2: However, let's switch over to you. Like I said, kept
[6:55] Speaker 2: that starting five.
[6:56] Speaker 1: Obviously, rode that to a historic championship run, 13-game winning streak.
[6:59] Speaker 1: I think won each closeout game by an average of
[7:01] Speaker 1: 30 points, highest overall. win differential in playoff history, but
[7:04] Speaker 1: did the Knicks make the right move retaining this core
[7:07] Speaker 1: roster this season?
[7:08] Speaker 4: No, I definitely think they did. One thing I wish
[7:10] Speaker 4: they would have did was keep Mitchell Robinson. I think,
[7:13] Speaker 4: you know, just in the playoffs last year, how he
[7:15] Speaker 4: showed up and, you know, showed out and, you know,
[7:18] Speaker 4: imposed his physicality, you know, and defended the paint a
[7:21] Speaker 4: little bit, kind of set the mindset and tempo for
[7:24] Speaker 4: them to be champions. I think when it comes down
[7:26] Speaker 4: to it, you allow Jalen Brinson to be great, you
[7:29] Speaker 4: allow Carl Anthony Towns to be great, and they have, like,
[7:32] Speaker 4: the surrounding factors. But I think when it came down to,
[7:35] Speaker 4: you know, that championship physicality, you can't really miss out
[7:38] Speaker 4: on that. And I feel like so even though Mitchell
[7:40] Speaker 4: Robinson was hurt a lot, he was able to figure
[7:43] Speaker 4: out where he was going to be, you know, advantageous
[7:47] Speaker 4: amongst that roster. So I think that's the only thing
[7:49] Speaker 4: you really need, that front court presence, especially when you're
[7:52] Speaker 4: trying to go up against the Wimbees and the other
[7:54] Speaker 4: great bigs that are around. Even when you look down,
[7:56] Speaker 4: when we talked about down south with the Heat, you're
[7:59] Speaker 4: going to need some big fellas in a positive front
[8:03] Speaker 4: court in order to win a championship. So that's the
[8:05] Speaker 4: only person I really wish they would have brought back.
[8:07] Speaker 4: But that top eight is still legit. They're veteran-based. And
[8:11] Speaker 4: I think they learned how to, you know, learn their role,
[8:16] Speaker 4: accept their role, and start in their role. And that's
[8:17] Speaker 4: what brought the championship.
[8:19] Speaker 3: For sure.
[8:20] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to this side. Brendan, so we've seen
[8:21] Speaker 1: a lot of teams win that chip. Think about the Celtics.
[8:25] Speaker 1: Nuggets kind of retained that core, tried to bring it back,
[8:27] Speaker 1: run it back. Thunder as well, not being able to
[8:30] Speaker 1: even get back to the finals. You look at this
[8:31] Speaker 1: Knicks squad, keeping that start at five, keeping that core intact.
[8:34] Speaker 1: Did they make the right move? I think it was
[8:36] Speaker 1: definitely the right move.
[8:37] Speaker 5: Keep the core intact, bring everybody back, see if you
[8:40] Speaker 5: can do something special again. I like what Boogie was
[8:43] Speaker 5: talking about. Listen, they're the only team in the Eastern
[8:46] Speaker 5: Conference that they've got it figured out. They know where
[8:49] Speaker 5: the ball is going to go at certain times, who's
[8:51] Speaker 5: going to get what shots, no one's going to be complaining.
[8:54] Speaker 5: The biggest thing is being a champion, though. It's not
[8:56] Speaker 5: about as much the other teams. You get in that
[8:59] Speaker 5: regular season, it's about competing against yourself mentally. Because once
[9:02] Speaker 5: you go through that grind and you get to the mountaintop,
[9:04] Speaker 5: we all want to be a champion. Then you start
[9:06] Speaker 5: taking some of these regular season games for granted. That
[9:09] Speaker 5: complacency sets in that, oh, well, we've won it before.
[9:12] Speaker 5: We can turn it on when we want to. We
[9:14] Speaker 5: see so many champions get caught up in that trap.
[9:16] Speaker 5: Remember when the Boston Celtics won the next year, they
[9:18] Speaker 5: just wasn't quite the same. A lot of times championship
[9:22] Speaker 5: teams think they can keep flipping that switch and one
[9:24] Speaker 5: day you flip that switch and the lights don't turn on,
[9:26] Speaker 5: you're in the middle of the playoffs and you got
[9:27] Speaker 5: a dogfight on your hands. So I think bringing everybody
[9:30] Speaker 5: back was the right move. The only thing they need
[9:32] Speaker 5: to fight through is that mental, just that mental, I
[9:37] Speaker 5: don't know what it is, that mental lapse you can
[9:39] Speaker 5: have sometimes when you're a champion.
[9:40] Speaker 4: You think being in that big market is kind of
[9:42] Speaker 4: like inevitable to have the perception of that mental lapse because...
[9:46] Speaker 4: There's been times this year where they were killing one
[9:49] Speaker 4: NBA Cup championship and say they have three bad games.
[9:51] Speaker 4: Now East Coast media is making it seem like the
[9:54] Speaker 4: world is over. You know i'm saying even when they
[9:56] Speaker 4: went into the games versus the hawks they were ready
[9:58] Speaker 4: to get ready to write the narrative being like they
[10:00] Speaker 4: blew it again as opposed to just being like hey
[10:03] Speaker 4: these guys have been playing some of the best basketball
[10:06] Speaker 4: in the past couple years and they went on one
[10:07] Speaker 4: of the best finals runs in the past you know
[10:10] Speaker 4: 15 20 years they had a 12.9 point differential and
[10:14] Speaker 4: they showed like the veteranship and took out a young team.
[10:18] Speaker 4: You think that's inevitable, though?
[10:20] Speaker 5: I think that New York media can actually work for
[10:23] Speaker 5: them because there's one thing. You win a championship in OKC,
[10:26] Speaker 5: you know, the media, there's only a couple of media guys.
[10:28] Speaker 5: They all real nice. They might even be flying on
[10:31] Speaker 5: your team plane. You know what I'm saying? But when
[10:33] Speaker 5: you're in New York, you hit it right on the head.
[10:35] Speaker 5: You lose three games in a row. It's what's wrong
[10:37] Speaker 5: with these guys, and now everybody's turning against you. That
[10:40] Speaker 5: New York media is a different animal. When you go
[10:42] Speaker 5: into the media scrum of New York, you see all
[10:44] Speaker 5: the bright lights and everybody there.
[10:45] Speaker 4: So I think that.
[10:47] Speaker 5: being in that market can kind of actually work in
[10:50] Speaker 5: their favor because they're going to have to still be
[10:52] Speaker 5: hungry because any little slip-off, they're looking to write that
[10:55] Speaker 5: headline in whatever the main paper is.
[10:59] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[11:00] Speaker 1: Knicks outscored their opponents by 15 points per game last
[11:03] Speaker 1: postseason NBA record.
[11:04] Speaker 2: Swaggy looking at this crew.
[11:06] Speaker 3: Oh, man.
[11:06] Speaker 2: Championship experience on this couch when you look at this. Yeah.
[11:10] Speaker 2: Am I the only one?
[11:11] Speaker 4: Oh, no.
[11:12] Speaker 2: Don't do that. I forgot. I'm used to being the
[11:15] Speaker 2: only champion.
[11:15] Speaker 5: Hey, brother, don't disrespect him. I'm sorry.
[11:17] Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
[11:17] Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
[11:18] Speaker 2: But yeah. Got me a ring, brother.
[11:19] Speaker 3: He got him a ring, brother. He did.
[11:22] Speaker 2: 2020.
[11:23] Speaker 3: 2020.
[11:24] Speaker 4: Lakers.
[11:24] Speaker 2: Yes, sir. He did. He did. He had the bullies.
[11:28] Speaker 4: I didn't have to do shit, but I got it.
[11:31] Speaker 2: I got me a ring.
[11:32] Speaker 3: I did. We in the same boat.
[11:34] Speaker 5: You said you.
[11:36] Speaker 4: Didn't do nothing?
[11:37] Speaker 2: I did a lot.
[11:38] Speaker 4: I see. I did a lot.
[11:40] Speaker 2: I was out there.
[11:41] Speaker 4: What you think about these Knicks, though?
[11:42] Speaker 2: About these Knicks?
[11:43] Speaker 6: Yeah, they need to take a page from the Warriors,
[11:45] Speaker 6: for sure. You don't change the core, but you, you know,
[11:50] Speaker 6: you bring pieces in, like, you know, when the Warriors
[11:52] Speaker 6: run swaggy and like, You got to bring people in.
[11:56] Speaker 6: The break energy, the bench, you know, I like the
[11:58] Speaker 6: fact that, you know, the bench did well. You got
[12:01] Speaker 6: Alvarado that stepped up in the playoffs.
[12:04] Speaker 2: Who?
[12:04] Speaker 3: Who? Alvarado. I got one of those. Yeah, I had one.
[12:08] Speaker 2: Of those automobiles. He had the little guard. You know,
[12:11] Speaker 2: he played.
[12:12] Speaker 6: 40-something minutes. He did good, though, but I think you
[12:15] Speaker 6: don't panic because... When did he play 40 minutes? In
[12:18] Speaker 6: the championship game.
[12:18] Speaker 3: Oh, my bad, my bad.
[12:19] Speaker 2: Okay, my bad. I keep cutting you off. I'm going
[12:20] Speaker 2: to let you cut.
[12:21] Speaker 6: Yeah, when Makai Bridges was messing up and everybody was
[12:23] Speaker 6: on his head.
[12:24] Speaker 4: Makai Bridges?
[12:25] Speaker 5: Who's Makai Bridges?
[12:26] Speaker 4: You know who I'm talking about.
[12:27] Speaker 2: You're right. You're right. As long as y'all know who
[12:28] Speaker 2: I'm talking about.
[12:29] Speaker 6: When I say the name, it might not be right,
[12:32] Speaker 6: but you know who I'm talking about.
[12:33] Speaker 3: All right?
[12:34] Speaker 2: All right.
[12:35] Speaker 6: So to start in five, you don't change that up
[12:38] Speaker 6: just because everybody else is making changes, panics.
[12:40] Speaker 4: A lot of people got new teams.
[12:43] Speaker 6: You don't know how Philly going to really be.
[12:46] Speaker 2: I think they are the favorites.
[12:48] Speaker 6: And, you know, Bronson right now, to me, is probably
[12:51] Speaker 6: one of the best players in the NBA.
[12:54] Speaker 4: For sure.
[12:54] Speaker 2: All right, good. Let's move on to you.
[12:58] Speaker 3: So nobody went back-to-back? What?
[13:00] Speaker 2: The last eight seasons?
[13:02] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[13:03] Speaker 2: Make it nine. Nine. Make it nine.
[13:07] Speaker 4: Okay, she was hurt, so you got to add.
[13:09] Speaker 3: Make it nine.
[13:09] Speaker 2: Because what I.
[13:10] Speaker 3: Do know is, When you beat someone, they load up.
[13:20] Speaker 3: So the whole theory of we want it, let's run
[13:24] Speaker 3: it back the same, pretending that we have the number
[13:28] Speaker 3: one guard, the number one shooting guard, the number one
[13:31] Speaker 3: small forward so we don't have to upgrade while everybody
[13:34] Speaker 3: else is upgrading is the reason that they don't make
[13:38] Speaker 3: it back. It's always let's run it back so we can,
[13:41] Speaker 3: you know, show that we're back to back while everyone
[13:44] Speaker 3: else loaded up for your team. So you do need
[13:47] Speaker 3: new pieces, right? A better bench, a better six man,
[13:52] Speaker 3: a better seven man. Like you do need to load
[13:55] Speaker 3: up on your team to get better pieces, not just
[13:58] Speaker 3: starting five, but the people that's going to come off
[14:01] Speaker 3: that bench. You're going to need more help because everybody
[14:05] Speaker 3: else is going to get it. San Antonio's going to
[14:07] Speaker 3: get better. The teams that you beat are going to
[14:10] Speaker 3: get better.
[14:10] Speaker 4: Yeah, OKC in its own self. Not saying San Antonio
[14:14] Speaker 4: is the team to beat, but when you look how
[14:16] Speaker 4: OKC drafted, like who we go get, we went and
[14:19] Speaker 4: got Adai Mara just to combat who? The big fella
[14:22] Speaker 4: a couple hours away. Because they figure, yo, we win this.
[14:26] Speaker 4: I like our odds when we go maybe up against
[14:28] Speaker 4: the eventual champions, but you're absolutely right. They're prepping for
[14:32] Speaker 4: whoever beat them prior and the big dog in the league,
[14:35] Speaker 4: which is Wimby.
[14:36] Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
[14:37] Speaker 4: So it's like, man, they not going to go get
[14:39] Speaker 4: a guy to stop cats who's reducing his scoring. They're
[14:42] Speaker 4: going to go get a dude to stop the freak.
[14:45] Speaker 5: But Josiah said bringing back the star line. You got
[14:48] Speaker 5: to bring back the star line. You got to bring
[14:50] Speaker 5: the core back. The core is what, the top eight?
[14:53] Speaker 2: Top eight.
[14:53] Speaker 5: I mean, like I said, outside they lost Mitchell Robinson,
[14:56] Speaker 5: but the financials they had.
[14:57] Speaker 2: You got Drummond. Yeah. I think that's upgrade. Say what?
[15:00] Speaker 3: I think that's upgrade.
[15:01] Speaker 4: I think that was a good move.
[15:02] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that was upgrade.
[15:03] Speaker 2: He'll hit somebody, that's for sure. He'll rebound.
[15:05] Speaker 5: I like Mitchell slightly more because he's just so much
[15:08] Speaker 5: more active.
[15:08] Speaker 3: I get a little bit more offense and some guaranteed
[15:11] Speaker 3: free throws.
[15:13] Speaker 5: Well, I'm just saying, Mitchell Robinson brings that.
[15:15] Speaker 2: Say what?
[15:15] Speaker 4: You're saying more free throws with Drummond? Drummond shot 35%. Yeah,
[15:18] Speaker 4: he's shooting the three ball now, too. But he might
[15:22] Speaker 4: take some shots.
[15:24] Speaker 5: But I still like Drummond being, like, they couldn't lose
[15:26] Speaker 5: Mitchell Robinson. From a financial standpoint, especially with the second
[15:30] Speaker 5: apron acting like a hard cap, they knew they were
[15:32] Speaker 5: going to lose Mitchell Robinson. Yeah, they're not touching that
[15:33] Speaker 5: second apron. Yeah, but he was huge for that team.
[15:36] Speaker 5: But I do believe they made the right move. But
[15:38] Speaker 5: I think you have a great point. There's other teams
[15:41] Speaker 5: that Miami's going to be better. You know, everybody knows
[15:44] Speaker 5: Philly's going to be a better team. Everybody's gearing up
[15:46] Speaker 5: to beat the Knicks, and the Knicks just have to,
[15:49] Speaker 5: for the most part, fight themselves mentally and don't take
[15:52] Speaker 5: the regular season for granted. Because championship-level teams... You want
[15:56] Speaker 5: to make sure you're doing the right things every single
[15:58] Speaker 5: day so that when you get to the playoffs, it's like, oh, yeah,
[16:01] Speaker 5: we know what it is. You can't be taking the shortcuts.
[16:03] Speaker 5: And that's why I think a lot of these teams
[16:04] Speaker 5: are falling short, plus the injuries.
[16:05] Speaker 6: But the Knicks know what they got, though. They know
[16:08] Speaker 6: each other. They know Brunson don't get the ball. Other
[16:10] Speaker 6: teams don't got that. Other teams still trying to figure
[16:12] Speaker 6: that out.
[16:13] Speaker 4: True. You got to add that into the situation. No, no, no.
[16:15] Speaker 2: Josh Hart know what the hell he's supposed to do.
[16:18] Speaker 4: Cat know.
[16:19] Speaker 2: Give it to Brunson.
[16:20] Speaker 3: But again, now it's still Brunson versus the world.
[16:24] Speaker 4: At some point, I think it is going to come
[16:31] Speaker 4: to a point where the Knicks are going to have to,
[16:35] Speaker 4: and I believe they believe that in OG, but when
[16:37] Speaker 4: you're looking at teams like Miami, you're looking at teams
[16:39] Speaker 4: like Philly who have a plethora of go-to options, I
[16:44] Speaker 4: think it's going to eventually come down to that.
[16:46] Speaker 3: As of.
[16:49] Speaker 4: Right now with the season beginning, you could say they're
[16:51] Speaker 4: the clear-cut favorite because it's a lot of seasons For Philly,
[16:56] Speaker 4: for Miami, for Washington, for Toronto. So those guys are
[17:00] Speaker 4: figuring it out. And their advantage is already having that
[17:03] Speaker 4: chemistry right now. So that can get them a 10,
[17:06] Speaker 4: 15-game lead in the standings. But that doesn't necessarily mean
[17:12] Speaker 4: come playoffs, come finals, that they're the clear-cut best team.
[17:16] Speaker 4: But the regular season, I'm putting my money on that.
[17:19] Speaker 4: Because that's the part that matters the most, going into
[17:21] Speaker 4: the regular season. Outside of health and, you know, those things.
[17:25] Speaker 4: But chemistry early on, that's one of the biggest things,
[17:29] Speaker 4: starting the regular season. Can you say in the east,
[17:32] Speaker 4: New York is the clear favorite? Yeah. In the east?
[17:35] Speaker 5: You got Philly.
[17:36] Speaker 4: He got Philly.
[17:36] Speaker 3: You got Philly?
[17:36] Speaker 2: I think number one would be Miami. Over New York?
[17:38] Speaker 4: Miami.
[17:44] Speaker 2: And this is just regular season we're talking about. Regular season.
[17:46] Speaker 2: Over Philly too? You know he's going to play hard
[17:48] Speaker 2: the whole time. You got Clay. You have Wiggins.
[17:52] Speaker 3: You have Bam.
[17:53] Speaker 2: Right?
[17:54] Speaker 3: And then you have young Phillip.
[17:55] Speaker 4: Right?
[17:56] Speaker 3: In Miami's system, they're going to be trying to make
[17:59] Speaker 3: a statement. So they're going to be playing the game. Philly,
[18:03] Speaker 3: with all the talent, going to be taking days off.
[18:06] Speaker 3: And B, you're going to want to take days off.
[18:08] Speaker 3: So you're going to be trying to run. But that
[18:12] Speaker 3: team is literally... when you're talking about one through five,
[18:18] Speaker 3: they're loaded. Like fast break, they're fast break loaded, skill loaded, athleticism.
[18:26] Speaker 3: They don't really have a real, real true flaw besides... Injury.
[18:31] Speaker 2: Bron and shooting. Bron being old.
[18:32] Speaker 3: That's about it.
[18:33] Speaker 2: Bron being old. That's it.
[18:35] Speaker 3: Everybody else got a flame. I mean, LeBron and Jalen
[18:38] Speaker 3: Brown is probably the shakiest one. And they're still at
[18:41] Speaker 3: 35 at the three. You know what I mean? So
[18:43] Speaker 3: that is their shakiest thing.
[18:45] Speaker 2: B.J.
[18:45] Speaker 3: Maxey.
[18:45] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
[18:47] Speaker 3: They signed Dean Wade. Dean Wade was just signing. Brunson,
[18:51] Speaker 3: something happens to Brunson.
[18:53] Speaker 4: They're cool, isn't it?
[18:55] Speaker 3: New York's whole identity changes overnight.
[18:58] Speaker 2: Nobody else has that problem. But how you got Miami
[19:00] Speaker 2: over that, though?
[19:02] Speaker 3: Because they're going to load manage. They're going to be
[19:06] Speaker 3: gearing up for playoffs.
[19:08] Speaker 2: So they're going to start off here. I got Philly late, too.
[19:10] Speaker 3: And then they're going to take and then that....
[19:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, because that's March.
[19:15] Speaker 3: That March push of everybody getting their timing, and then
[19:18] Speaker 3: that's when they're going to try to. They're going to
[19:20] Speaker 3: be just how the Knicks was at the end of
[19:21] Speaker 3: the season.
[19:21] Speaker 4: Hitting at the right time. 60 games a year at
[19:25] Speaker 4: this point.
[19:25] Speaker 1: How much confidence do you have in Giannis playing a
[19:28] Speaker 1: full season?
[19:28] Speaker 3: I know.
[19:29] Speaker 5: Yeah, Giannis has been having them calf strains.
[19:31] Speaker 3: Now, let's remove Giannis. Miami was still good, right? With
[19:37] Speaker 3: just Bam. Now you have Bam.
[19:38] Speaker 2: Where they?
[19:39] Speaker 4: Where they?
[19:39] Speaker 2: Where they? Bam, Wiggins, Klay, that's decent.
[19:43] Speaker 5: I'm just saying, you said in the East?
[19:45] Speaker 4: I mean, Clay up there in age, too, so he's
[19:47] Speaker 4: going to be managed.
[19:49] Speaker 3: One thing we know, we know Pat Riley's team is
[19:51] Speaker 3: going to play hard. They're going to grind it out.
[19:54] Speaker 3: They're going to be locked in defensively. They're going to
[19:56] Speaker 3: be locked in.
[19:57] Speaker 2: They're going to be really good defensively. They were 10th
[19:58] Speaker 2: in the East though last season. Endurance?
[20:00] Speaker 3: I mean, endurance?
[20:02] Speaker 5: Defensively, Miami's going to be able to lock down. Their
[20:04] Speaker 5: front line is going to be incredible. Wiggins, Bam, Giannis.
[20:08] Speaker 5: That's a lot of defense. Davion at the point also.
[20:12] Speaker 4: Lockdown.
[20:12] Speaker 2: Even more defense.
[20:13] Speaker 4: Lockdown.
[20:14] Speaker 5: The only question for Miami is, we keep talking about
[20:18] Speaker 5: the Knicks. We understand Jalen Brunson time at the end
[20:20] Speaker 5: of the game. The question for Miami, they're going to
[20:23] Speaker 5: have to figure this out. How are you going to
[20:25] Speaker 5: win the close games? Because they're going to be able
[20:27] Speaker 5: to beat the bad teams. How is Miami going to
[20:30] Speaker 5: be able to win the close games? Who is taking
[20:32] Speaker 5: those shots? Because, like, is Giannis going to be the closer?
[20:36] Speaker 5: That's a question. I'm not saying he can't be, but
[20:38] Speaker 5: that's a question. Is he the closer? Is it Bam?
[20:41] Speaker 5: I don't know. All these other teams, we have guys... Hey,
[20:44] Speaker 5: if you look at Philly, I know Maxie can close
[20:46] Speaker 5: the game out. Seen it in the playoff. Proof of concept.
[20:48] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[20:49] Speaker 5: Like, hey, if you watch Jalen Brunson, we've seen what
[20:52] Speaker 5: he's been doing in the playoffs the last couple years.
[20:54] Speaker 5: I know he can close the game out. With Miami,
[20:56] Speaker 5: it's like... I know Giannis don't really want that jumper
[21:00] Speaker 5: with the last five minutes if it's a tight game.
[21:02] Speaker 5: Might not want to go to the free throw line.
[21:04] Speaker 5: They got to figure out or bring somebody in. You know,
[21:08] Speaker 5: like we heard they were in on possibly Kyrie. That
[21:10] Speaker 5: would totally change things. But they might need to find,
[21:13] Speaker 5: go find Miami. When I look at them, they might
[21:16] Speaker 5: need to go find that closer.
[21:17] Speaker 3: Tim Thomas!
[21:19] Speaker 2: Nah. What?
[21:20] Speaker 4: I think that you're going to get De'Aaron Fox.
[21:21] Speaker 2: Go get Fox.
[21:22] Speaker 3: I said Fox. I'm talking about getting somebody you don't
[21:25] Speaker 3: have to lose nobody.
[21:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
[21:27] Speaker 3: I don't think they're going to have to lose anybody.
[21:28] Speaker 3: They won't lose anybody.
[21:29] Speaker 2: Yes, they will.
[21:31] Speaker 5: Boogie, his Fox money just kicks in this year.
[21:33] Speaker 2: That's perfect.
[21:35] Speaker 5: He making 50. He making 50.
[21:37] Speaker 4: So what?
[21:37] Speaker 2: Ain't nobody got to get rid of him. I don't
[21:39] Speaker 2: got nobody worth 50 on my team.
[21:40] Speaker 5: I didn't say I don't like Fox.
[21:42] Speaker 4: They made a big start. So Giannis only got so
[21:45] Speaker 4: much of a window. So I don't think Miami's in Obviously,
[21:49] Speaker 4: it could be other options that could upgrade that lineup,
[21:52] Speaker 4: but if I'm in a win-now mode, I'm not worried
[21:56] Speaker 4: about Fox making 50. I know he's healthy, and I
[21:59] Speaker 4: know he can impact this team at a position that
[22:01] Speaker 4: we need. Also, going through regular season, with the risk
[22:05] Speaker 4: of Giannis missing games, I do have a guy that's
[22:08] Speaker 4: been in that position before to kind of carry us
[22:10] Speaker 4: through the regular season. So, I think it's a win-win
[22:12] Speaker 4: for Miami, in my opinion. I mean, he said Cam Thomas,
[22:17] Speaker 4: or even bringing– It could be serious because remember back
[22:20] Speaker 4: in the 2019-2020 season, who was one of their leading
[22:22] Speaker 4: scorers for a larger part of the season? Kendrick Nunn.
[22:27] Speaker 4: And in that system, even going back to it, who
[22:29] Speaker 4: was one of their most important offensive players? Tyler Hero.
[22:32] Speaker 4: Tyler Hero and Duncan Robinson.
[22:35] Speaker 3: You need someone that's a wild card.
[22:37] Speaker 4: And they also have offensive sets, players, and everything to
[22:40] Speaker 4: make sure it's like, yo, this is just a chess piece.
[22:42] Speaker 4: We got to make sure this guy, if he can
[22:44] Speaker 4: put up 20, we're just going to get 20 out
[22:45] Speaker 4: of him because it'll be better for everything else and
[22:48] Speaker 4: literally like the domino effect. So I feel as though
[22:50] Speaker 4: that Cam Thomas thing I wouldn't be far off because
[22:53] Speaker 4: you get so cheap.
[22:54] Speaker 3: He comes in. If he comes in and he's.
[22:57] Speaker 2: Balling, he's like, cool, cool.
[22:59] Speaker 4: If he has a bad attitude and we can't deal
[23:01] Speaker 4: with it, go to him.
[23:02] Speaker 2: Hold on a second. We're talking about winning a championship, right?
[23:05] Speaker 3: And we're talking about.
[23:13] Speaker 5: You're going up against the Knicks with Jalen Brunson as
[23:15] Speaker 5: their closer. You're talking about going up against Philly with
[23:18] Speaker 5: Tyrese Maxey as their closer. You really think Miami in
[23:21] Speaker 5: a close game wants Cam Thomas to be their closer?
[23:23] Speaker 2: No, but defensively, shit.
[23:25] Speaker 5: I'm just saying, like, if we're talking about finding a
[23:27] Speaker 5: closer for Miami, it's got to be somebody. It's got
[23:31] Speaker 5: to be, like, that's why I brought up the name Kyrie.
[23:33] Speaker 5: You talk about winning a championship, your closer got to
[23:35] Speaker 5: be one of them ones. It can't be a guy
[23:37] Speaker 5: that's hanging out the league right now.
[23:39] Speaker 4: That's fair.
[23:39] Speaker 3: We're just talking about scoring.
[23:40] Speaker 2: We were talking about scoring.
[23:42] Speaker 4: We were talking about insurance during the regular season.
[23:45] Speaker 5: We were just talking about keeping that floor down. But
[23:47] Speaker 5: you are absolutely right. I'm thinking big picture. I'm thinking championship.
[23:51] Speaker 4: That's why that 50 with the air don't matter either.
[23:54] Speaker 4: I like, like I said, better options. Kyrie would be
[23:59] Speaker 4: The first I hear but once you go down from
[24:02] Speaker 4: there you got to start looking at the De'Aaron Foxes
[24:04] Speaker 4: the Darius Garland's I think that'll be a good.
[24:06] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[24:06] Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah shit Clippers trying to get any they
[24:10] Speaker 4: can get they need to get a perfect guy to
[24:13] Speaker 4: fill that role So and I think you got two
[24:15] Speaker 4: years left on this deal So I think it's some
[24:18] Speaker 4: options out there obviously a Kyrie with already the championship
[24:21] Speaker 4: DNA He's shown that he can do it at the
[24:23] Speaker 4: highest level. I think that'll be the perfect first option
[24:26] Speaker 4: Now we start thinking about others that possibly maybe Dallas
[24:29] Speaker 4: don't want to get off him at the moment. De'Aaron Fox, Garland,
[24:32] Speaker 4: I think those are.
[24:33] Speaker 5: Dallas start losing some games. They might be willing to
[24:36] Speaker 5: get off of them, though. That's why I keep mentioning
[24:37] Speaker 5: Kyrie's name. Absolutely. Dallas start playing that game. They get
[24:41] Speaker 5: to that February deadline, they realize.
[24:43] Speaker 4: I mean, if Toronto could use... I think it's a
[24:45] Speaker 4: few teams that Kyrie away.
[24:46] Speaker 2: A lot of teams could use Kyrie. Exactly.
[24:48] Speaker 4: Up until that point, we keep talking so much hypothetics.
[24:52] Speaker 4: What they going to hang their head on night in
[24:54] Speaker 4: and night out?
[24:54] Speaker 2: Defense. And that's it. That's all they're going to play.
[24:57] Speaker 3: That's it. That's it. That's all it is. That's how
[25:00] Speaker 3: you start off the beginning of the season.
[25:02] Speaker 4: That's going to be number one?
[25:04] Speaker 2: That is a gauntlet, bro.
[25:05] Speaker 3: To start off the season, you're talking about that head
[25:09] Speaker 3: start is going to be coming out of training camp.
[25:12] Speaker 3: Defense is always intact. Offense is usually second.
[25:16] Speaker 2: You get your offense second.
[25:17] Speaker 3: Defense and conditioning, whoever conditioned their asses off in the summer,
[25:21] Speaker 3: coming into training camp, that's who gets the lead.
[25:24] Speaker 4: I agree with you when it was the old East.
[25:28] Speaker 4: This new current day East?
[25:31] Speaker 3: I don't know.
[25:32] Speaker 4: Like I said, it's a gauntlet this year. It might
[25:36] Speaker 4: be two bad teams in the East. Everybody else has
[25:39] Speaker 4: a legit chance number making the playoffs and I'll be
[25:41] Speaker 4: better than even my.
[25:42] Speaker 1: Boss about the Pacers That's what the Pacers are highly
[25:47] Speaker 1: healthy now.
[25:48] Speaker 3: Like this is a godly.
[25:50] Speaker 5: I don't sleep. I don't come on now Don't sleep
[25:53] Speaker 5: on Charlotte. Don't sleep on the Hornets.
[25:54] Speaker 4: Oh Yeah, I still.
[25:57] Speaker 5: Got to go home You're going to go home regardless.
[26:01] Speaker 3: I got a flight going back to Charlotte tonight, man.
[26:03] Speaker 4: Charlotte, I don't know yet because I don't know how
[26:05] Speaker 4: I feel about the LaMelo move. I think LaMelo made
[26:08] Speaker 4: it exciting.
[26:09] Speaker 3: And Bridges is gone.
[26:10] Speaker 2: You just lost two.
[26:11] Speaker 3: Bridges is gone. They got Naj Reed. He lost 45 points.
[26:15] Speaker 4: Charlotte got Naj Reed to replace Bridges, a motherfucker hooper.
[26:20] Speaker 4: But Kobe White running the team, I don't know yet.
[26:24] Speaker 4: You got to replace 243s and assists.
[26:26] Speaker 2: I don't know yet.
[26:27] Speaker 4: Kobe White pushing the pace. It's Brandon Miller's team now.
[26:31] Speaker 4: I know you got Conk and Nipple, Nas Reed. I
[26:33] Speaker 4: don't know what's at that set. Is it the big
[26:35] Speaker 4: African kid? We don't know what's at it. Mubabafe or
[26:38] Speaker 4: some shit? The Cal Brenner kid is still there.
[26:41] Speaker 2: Maybe.
[26:42] Speaker 3: Maybe.
[26:42] Speaker 4: I think they're at that stage Orlando was at a
[26:46] Speaker 4: couple years.
[26:48] Speaker 5: I like Charlotte. I watch them a lot. I think
[26:50] Speaker 5: Brandon Miller's going to take that step. I think Conk
[26:52] Speaker 5: and Nipple's going to take that step. They're going to
[26:54] Speaker 5: run a lot of offense through them.
[26:55] Speaker 4: You got to do broadcasting for Charlotte, huh?
[26:58] Speaker 5: No, that's not a wisdom.
[26:59] Speaker 2: Don't do me like that.
[26:59] Speaker 5: You should have said my home.
[27:00] Speaker 6: The way he was talking, the way he was talking
[27:02] Speaker 6: was like... Like, there wasn't going to be a play-in
[27:04] Speaker 6: team at best.
[27:06] Speaker 5: I think Charlotte's going to be a play-off team. I
[27:09] Speaker 5: like Kobe White.
[27:10] Speaker 4: I don't think so.
[27:11] Speaker 2: What you guys going to be like that for, man?
[27:12] Speaker 3: Don't you be cutting your eyes off.
[27:14] Speaker 2: Bro, I mean, come on, man.
[27:15] Speaker 3: Come on, he got to broadcast for this.
[27:17] Speaker 5: I don't broadcast. Yo, Curry broadcast for.
[27:20] Speaker 1: This, man.
[27:21] Speaker 4: Philly, Boston, Toronto, Cleveland.
[27:26] Speaker 2: Wizards.
[27:28] Speaker 4: No.
[27:28] Speaker 2: Wizards not there. Shit. Wizards better than Sharks.
[27:31] Speaker 3: Wizards better than Sharks.
[27:32] Speaker 2: Wizards.
[27:33] Speaker 4: Wizards.
[27:33] Speaker 3: Wizards going to make it.
[27:35] Speaker 2: Who am I missing?
[27:36] Speaker 3: Oh, the Knicks.
[27:37] Speaker 2: The Knicks.
[27:38] Speaker 3: Miami going to be.
[27:39] Speaker 2: The fifth seed. Orlando. Indiana. Indiana.
[27:44] Speaker 5: Okay.
[27:44] Speaker 2: Miami is the fifth seed.
[27:45] Speaker 5: I'm I can admit when I'm wrong.
[27:47] Speaker 2: You know what? You got me.
[27:48] Speaker 3: You got me. You got me.
[27:50] Speaker 5: I was a little too bold on my Charlotte thing. Hey,
[27:54] Speaker 5: sometimes you got to admit when you're wrong.
[27:55] Speaker 3: You got me.
[27:56] Speaker 2: They're in the right direction. I agree.
[27:58] Speaker 4: Like I said, they Orlando a couple years ago.
[28:01] Speaker 1: Well, let's shift it back to the Knicks real quick.
[28:02] Speaker 1: I just want to read you the Knicks' first six
[28:04] Speaker 1: games to start this season.
[28:06] Speaker 5: Loss.
[28:07] Speaker 1: Home versus Philly. On the road at the Celtics. Home
[28:11] Speaker 1: versus the Magic. Home versus the Pistons. Then they got
[28:14] Speaker 1: the Bulls. And then they're at Philly. And then they're
[28:17] Speaker 1: at Philly. So five of their first six games. You
[28:20] Speaker 1: got the Sixers twice. Yeah, they can go three and three.
[28:23] Speaker 4: Easy. They can start off easy.
[28:26] Speaker 2: Oh, Detroit. Hold on.
[28:27] Speaker 3: Run that back?
[28:28] Speaker 1: So, they start the season at home against the Sixers.
[28:31] Speaker 1: Then they go to the Celtics. I think they win that.
[28:33] Speaker 1: I think they win Celtics.
[28:34] Speaker 2: We're at. We're at. LeBron lose every first game. But
[28:38] Speaker 2: this is a new LeBron. It is new.
[28:40] Speaker 3: These are brand new teams, too, though. These are all
[28:44] Speaker 3: brand new teams.
[28:44] Speaker 5: Hey, man, championship band tonight, they winning that one.
[28:47] Speaker 2: Man, come on.
[28:49] Speaker 5: It's hard to win that one.
[28:55] Speaker 1: Home versus Sixers on the road versus Celtics. Home versus
[28:58] Speaker 1: the Magic. Home versus the Pistons. On the road at
[29:00] Speaker 1: the Bulls. And then on the road at the Sixers.
[29:04] Speaker 4: They might go 6-0.
[29:04] Speaker 1: 4-2.
[29:04] Speaker 4: They might go 6-0.
[29:09] Speaker 2: If they go four and two, that'd be good. That's good.
[29:13] Speaker 2: You can sit your starters for one game.
[29:17] Speaker 3: Four and two is amazing. Man, we just started. And
[29:20] Speaker 3: you got Philly out twice.
[29:21] Speaker 2: Come on, man.
[29:22] Speaker 3: That's fantastic. That's all brand new teams.
[29:25] Speaker 4: Yeah. I think five and one.
[29:29] Speaker 2: Do the math, kid.
[29:29] Speaker 5: What math you doing over there?
[29:31] Speaker 2: Do the math.
[29:32] Speaker 5: What math you doing? Whenever you look up, you're doing
[29:33] Speaker 5: that beautiful mind math.
[29:34] Speaker 3: Because I'm trying to figure out Philly... Philly. Philly got
[29:41] Speaker 3: them twice that early.
[29:43] Speaker 2: In 10 days. Yeah. 20th, October 20th. So you don't
[29:45] Speaker 2: got to worry about them no more.
[29:47] Speaker 5: You're supposed to play them four times. They got at
[29:48] Speaker 5: least like one.
[29:48] Speaker 2: That's why.
[29:49] Speaker 3: That's why Adam said, I want to know where LeBron's
[29:51] Speaker 3: going so I can finish his schedule.
[29:53] Speaker 2: Where's he going.
[29:55] Speaker 3: So I can finish his schedule?
[29:56] Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Play them, them, them, get
[29:58] Speaker 2: them out of the way. Then you're going to have
[29:59] Speaker 2: like 10 straight home games.
[30:01] Speaker 4: Respect, fella.
[30:03] Speaker 5: You know, that's why he was putting that part. He
[30:06] Speaker 5: needed to make sure some of them games were not
[30:07] Speaker 5: on the same game some of the NFL days, you know.
[30:10] Speaker 3: I'm the only, I do not like when championship teams
[30:19] Speaker 3: have this hard team first game. I don't like how that–
[30:24] Speaker 3: I don't like that. It's the NBA season coming back.
[30:27] Speaker 3: Everybody happy anyway. So, Knicks, you get the bottom feeding team.
[30:32] Speaker 3: You deserve that. I want you to start off a
[30:35] Speaker 3: little 5-0. So, go ahead and get some of that shit.
[30:38] Speaker 2: Out the way. Play the Nets.
[30:39] Speaker 5: What, you think it's a college football schedule, like that
[30:41] Speaker 5: first game?
[30:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, you playing Florida A & M?
[30:44] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[30:44] Speaker 3: No. Oh, man, there's a reason you start off 12-0
[30:48] Speaker 3: and you're the number one team in the country. You
[30:50] Speaker 3: ain't played nobody yet, but you got all the confidence.
[30:53] Speaker 2: 12-0, good. That's what I'm saying.
[30:54] Speaker 3: Why are they playing a contender two times already?
[30:57] Speaker 4: Already.
[30:58] Speaker 5: Already.
[31:00] Speaker 3: Already started.
[31:01] Speaker 5: We can't start the season off bored as shit.
[31:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's crazy.
[31:06] Speaker 3: Like, who was Spurs playing OKC? Now these championship-caliber teams
[31:11] Speaker 3: already taking the L.
[31:12] Speaker 2: Man, you still got time. 87 games, man.
[31:15] Speaker 4: You can't start the season off sleepy as fuck.
[31:19] Speaker 3: Alabama versus Alcorn State.
[31:20] Speaker 2: How they doing? How they doing?
[31:21] Speaker 4: The number one team play who? 16.
[31:23] Speaker 3: If I'm the next, give me 16.
[31:24] Speaker 2: Give me the 16 team.
[31:35] Speaker 5: Listen, that first game of the season, man, you in
[31:39] Speaker 5: the middle of October, all this football going on, you
[31:42] Speaker 5: got to get people excited. They're going to be sleepy
[31:44] Speaker 5: if the Knicks play in Sacramento. That's why you got
[31:47] Speaker 5: to have... That's why you got to have Knicks versus Philly.
[31:52] Speaker 5: You got to have... Oh, yeah, Braun.
[31:53] Speaker 2: Coming to town.
[31:54] Speaker 5: Let's see what this is at. We got to have
[31:56] Speaker 5: Shea versus... We got to have Shea versus Wimby. You
[32:00] Speaker 5: got to get the fan base excited.
[32:01] Speaker 1: The first game of the season, Why not do Knicks
[32:04] Speaker 1: versus Spurs like the NFL would do it?
[32:06] Speaker 2: No, no.
[32:08] Speaker 3: Listen, listen. It could be Knicks versus Knicks.
[32:11] Speaker 2: Like Luka, right? Like Luka.
[32:13] Speaker 3: Whoever the worst defense, whoever he gets his shit off on.
[32:17] Speaker 3: I want the first day him have 70. Like that 70.
[32:20] Speaker 3: I want you to start off right. I want to
[32:23] Speaker 3: start off right.
[32:25] Speaker 2: You can't schedule.
[32:26] Speaker 3: You can't schedule. I don't want to have 10 because
[32:28] Speaker 3: I'm playing OKC and they're picking me up full court.
[32:30] Speaker 3: You can't schedule.
[32:32] Speaker 5: Now I'm doing.
[32:32] Speaker 3: Ketchup the whole season. Give me 70 off the jump.
[32:37] Speaker 5: You can't schedule the Sacramento Kings for game one of
[32:40] Speaker 5: the season.
[32:40] Speaker 3: I can.
[32:41] Speaker 2: No.
[32:41] Speaker 3: Ain't nobody getting excited about that. If Knicks played the
[32:45] Speaker 3: first game. If Knicks played the first game and they
[32:48] Speaker 3: won by 40, what you think?
[32:49] Speaker 2: Oh, the Knicks is back off.
[32:51] Speaker 3: They started again.
[32:52] Speaker 2: You got it hype, baby.
[32:53] Speaker 5: You can't have the Knicks versus Brooklyn first game.
[32:55] Speaker 2: Nah, man.
[32:56] Speaker 3: You can do that.
[32:57] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[32:58] Speaker 3: It's great.
[32:59] Speaker 4: In New York, they get that slow start, and it's
[33:01] Speaker 4: a little interesting.
[33:03] Speaker 2: You can get away with it.
[33:05] Speaker 5: Like I said, Nick's playing Philly. I'm going to be
[33:08] Speaker 5: tuned in. I want to see what Ron's going to do.
[33:10] Speaker 5: I want to see if Philly's going.
[33:11] Speaker 3: To put it together. That's a Christmas game.
[33:13] Speaker 2: You can do that, too.
[33:14] Speaker 4: I'm saying that worse. You can do New York and Brooklyn.
[33:19] Speaker 4: I don't agree with you, though. We happy to see
[33:22] Speaker 4: basketball anyway. So we watch it anyway.
[33:25] Speaker 2: How many Sacramento games you watch? Not many.
[33:28] Speaker 3: I'm not watching Sacramento.
[33:29] Speaker 2: See?
[33:29] Speaker 4: So you're not watching that.
[33:31] Speaker 3: But if the nigga scores 70, we didn't watch Miami
[33:36] Speaker 3: versus Wizards.
[33:37] Speaker 2: And when we heard.
[33:38] Speaker 3: A motherfucker out there got 65 in the third, we like, what?
[33:41] Speaker 2: Click. Hey, speak for yourself. I work for the Wizards.
[33:43] Speaker 5: I was tuned in.
[33:44] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Hey, I got to protect
[33:46] Speaker 2: the check. There will be no Wizards standing on this show.
[33:49] Speaker 2: There will be none. It's crazy.
[33:51] Speaker 4: Brian don't want to show his hand or nothing. They literally, like,
[33:55] Speaker 4: I'm saying LeBron sometimes he's notorious for losing his first
[33:58] Speaker 4: game of the year, and I don't believe it's because
[34:00] Speaker 4: he's not prepared. I think sometimes it's like, bro, this
[34:02] Speaker 4: is a big game. It's chest, not checkers.
[34:04] Speaker 2: You got the hardest game. LeBron 0-4 in debuts with
[34:06] Speaker 2: the new team.
[34:06] Speaker 3: But you got the hardest game game one. Yeah. Come on,
[34:10] Speaker 3: they turned off the Boston game because Bam was popping.
[34:15] Speaker 2: He was getting to it. He had to do something
[34:17] Speaker 2: amazing for that to happen.
[34:19] Speaker 1: So let's get back to the Knicks real quick. So
[34:21] Speaker 1: with all the moves made around the league this offseason,
[34:23] Speaker 1: especially in the East, do the Knicks have the best
[34:25] Speaker 1: starting five in the league?
[34:27] Speaker 2: The best? No.
[34:30] Speaker 5: Philly has the best starting five, but I think the
[34:32] Speaker 5: Knicks are a better team. But the most talented is Philly,
[34:35] Speaker 5: for sure. Philly's the most talented team in the Eastern Conference.
[34:39] Speaker 4: They're the most talented team in the NBA.
[34:42] Speaker 5: That's starting five?
[34:44] Speaker 3: Spurs still walking.
[34:44] Speaker 5: Around in it.
[34:45] Speaker 2: Let's talk about it. Don't make me look bad again.
[34:48] Speaker 2: I think it's a real conversation.
[34:56] Speaker 4: I think the Spurs are a young, up-and-coming group, even
[34:59] Speaker 4: with the run that they made. Like, we all know
[35:01] Speaker 4: they're getting better, but we talking about established, a group
[35:04] Speaker 4: of established talent. Maybe outside of V.J. Edgecombe, who could
[35:10] Speaker 4: have easily been Rookie of the Year if he was
[35:12] Speaker 4: in his own situation. Tyrese Massey, V.J. Edgecombe, Jalen Brown,
[35:17] Speaker 4: Finals MVP. LeBron James. And Joel Embiid. Each person wins.
[35:24] Speaker 6: We have three MVPs in the lineup.
[35:27] Speaker 2: But you're looking at the paper.
[35:30] Speaker 3: You said the best.
[35:31] Speaker 2: He said the best talent. Not the best.
[35:33] Speaker 1: I mean, who's going to actually be out there?
[35:36] Speaker 2: This might be one of the best starting fives ever.
[35:39] Speaker 3: Ever.
[35:40] Speaker 2: It's three MVPs, period.
[35:42] Speaker 3: One star level. I can bet that.
[35:43] Speaker 2: Go ahead. I understand where you're coming from. You're absolutely right.
[35:47] Speaker 4: It's The other day we argued so much on egos,
[35:52] Speaker 4: how we can make it work, everything like that. When
[35:54] Speaker 4: you combat it, when you go back to New York Knicks,
[35:56] Speaker 4: it's like they've already gotten through the hurdles of a
[35:59] Speaker 4: new coach, of getting a superstar who averaged 20-some points
[36:04] Speaker 4: a game since the rookie year to average sub-20 and
[36:06] Speaker 4: just rebound, set screens.
[36:08] Speaker 2: They got two elite 3 and.
[36:10] Speaker 4: D players in their lineup, along with probably one of
[36:13] Speaker 4: the best role players ever. the historic we've seen like
[36:16] Speaker 4: just knowing his role like being like yo every every
[36:19] Speaker 4: eighth game he's going to get a triple double and
[36:21] Speaker 4: then you got mr clutch one of the best performers
[36:25] Speaker 4: in recent history like you got to take that two
[36:27] Speaker 4: three elite three and d players a elite clutch player
[36:31] Speaker 4: the best role player and then one of the best
[36:33] Speaker 4: shooting bigs of all time that's also leading league in
[36:36] Speaker 4: rebounds he can defend block shots like Just proving, that's dangerous.
[36:43] Speaker 3: I think that's a different conversation. He's saying talent.
[36:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's team.
[36:48] Speaker 3: When you say it like that, team.
[36:51] Speaker 1: Do they have the best starting five?
[36:54] Speaker 4: Starting five just based on talent?
[36:56] Speaker 2: Philly.
[36:57] Speaker 4: Philly. Absolutely.
[36:58] Speaker 3: I'm not against that.
[36:59] Speaker 2: I agree with you.
[37:00] Speaker 4: I think New York is the best team starting the season.
[37:03] Speaker 4: Clear cut.
[37:04] Speaker 5: Best on paper. We've never seen this shit. Talent-wise, Philly's
[37:10] Speaker 5: got the most talent. From a team standpoint, and you're
[37:13] Speaker 5: talking about team makeup, like them 3 and D guys,
[37:16] Speaker 5: they're going to do all the dirty work and knock
[37:18] Speaker 5: down shots. Those are essential. So when you say talent-wise,
[37:21] Speaker 5: we go to Philly.
[37:22] Speaker 2: When you say.
[37:22] Speaker 5: Overall team chemistry, camaraderie, and how they're built, that's when
[37:25] Speaker 5: you go Knicks, OKC, and Spurs over Philly easily.
[37:29] Speaker 4: And when we go back to talent and we argue...
[37:31] Speaker 4: What about the old school Lakers when they.
[37:33] Speaker 3: Brought Karl Malone, Kobe, Gary Payton?
[37:36] Speaker 2: That's the one, but they were old. They were old, yeah.
[37:39] Speaker 3: Karl Malone was old. Gary Payton was old when they
[37:42] Speaker 3: came in. I was on a team.
[37:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, so Shaq and Kobe. And then who was the other?
[37:46] Speaker 4: I agree.
[37:46] Speaker 2: I'm taking Philly over there. Then Derrick Fisher.
[37:49] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[37:49] Speaker 2: Right?
[37:50] Speaker 3: Because Gary Payton was going back and forth.
[37:52] Speaker 4: Warriors?
[37:53] Speaker 2: Steph, KD.
[37:53] Speaker 3: Who was the five?
[37:54] Speaker 2: They still didn't have three MVPs.
[37:55] Speaker 3: Who was the five, man?
[37:56] Speaker 4: True, true, true. Yeah.
[37:57] Speaker 2: Steph, KD. It's never been three MVPs in a lot.
[38:00] Speaker 4: Let's play.
[38:02] Speaker 2: David West. Eagle Dollar.
[38:05] Speaker 3: Okay.
[38:07] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just saying.
[38:08] Speaker 3: Name a better five. Okay.
[38:11] Speaker 2: No, you can't.
[38:12] Speaker 3: Maxie. Who is he better than him?
[38:14] Speaker 2: Jalen Brown.
[38:16] Speaker 4: Steph.
[38:17] Speaker 2: Maxie and Steph. Who are you taking?
[38:18] Speaker 4: Steph.
[38:19] Speaker 2: Okay. Next.
[38:21] Speaker 3: Next is the shooting guard.
[38:22] Speaker 2: Vijay or Klay right now?
[38:24] Speaker 4: Who are you taking? Klay. Okay.
[38:27] Speaker 2: Brown or KD?
[38:28] Speaker 4: Who are you taking?
[38:28] Speaker 2: KD. KD.
[38:30] Speaker 4: Draymond and LeBron, okay.
[38:32] Speaker 2: And then the five. Who was on five? So my
[38:36] Speaker 2: four and my five. Well, Eagle Dollar.
[38:37] Speaker 3: It's Eagle Dollar.
[38:38] Speaker 2: It don't matter who it is, but.
[38:39] Speaker 3: The four-five is so far in front of the four-five.
[38:42] Speaker 3: The one, two, three.
[38:43] Speaker 2: I got 28.
[38:44] Speaker 3: I got 28 to step third. That baby didn't give
[38:46] Speaker 3: Looney a watch. Like, literally.
[38:47] Speaker 1: Wait.
[38:51] Speaker 4: I'm saying when you talk about the five and you
[38:53] Speaker 4: talk about, like, who's better.
[38:54] Speaker 2: Let me stop.
[38:56] Speaker 3: I'm just saying that's a great five.
[38:58] Speaker 2: No, but I'm saying Eagle Doll at the four. Eagle Doll, LeBron.
[39:02] Speaker 3: Okay, but when we're talking about five, you're talking about accolades.
[39:05] Speaker 5: So you're saying the Golden State, that's the best starting five?
[39:07] Speaker 2: No, no, no, because you have to put the accolades.
[39:09] Speaker 2: Hold on.
[39:10] Speaker 3: The team you was on?
[39:11] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[39:13] Speaker 2: We won. No, no, no. We get it.
[39:15] Speaker 4: We're talking about the best on paper, though. That means
[39:19] Speaker 4: y'all team was not better than our team on paper.
[39:22] Speaker 3: You got to add that. Five all-stars, Nick. I get it.
[39:26] Speaker 3: I get it. accolades. The shooting guards. Do that one.
[39:32] Speaker 2: You got Steph, Klay, KD, Draymond. Thank you.
[39:34] Speaker 3: I'm still going with Philly over us, though, to be honest.
[39:38] Speaker 2: At the end of the day, it's still.
[39:49] Speaker 2: On paper. No, no, no.
[39:51] Speaker 4: Come on.
[39:52] Speaker 2: On paper.
[39:52] Speaker 5: Listen, on paper. Two MVPs versus three MVPs.
[39:56] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[39:57] Speaker 5: On paper, Philly's one of the more talented teams.
[39:59] Speaker 2: I mean, you versus MVP.
[40:00] Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
[40:01] Speaker 3: I don't have an MVP, so I can't.
[40:04] Speaker 2: He had two scoring titles. That's what I'm saying.
[40:07] Speaker 4: You have three MVPs in the starting lineup. You got
[40:10] Speaker 4: KD and Steph, bro.
[40:11] Speaker 2: Who measures up to that?
[40:13] Speaker 3: Three MVPs.
[40:14] Speaker 6: LeBron and Maxie don't measure.
[40:16] Speaker 2: Up to that. I don't give a what y'all, whatever
[40:18] Speaker 2: y'all say.
[40:18] Speaker 3: KD and Steph.
[40:19] Speaker 4: So, Embiid and Jalen Brown are just some bums. That's
[40:22] Speaker 4: what you're trying to convince me of. You're arguing KD
[40:25] Speaker 4: and Steph. You're talking about two top teams.
[40:28] Speaker 3: One is one and ever.
[40:29] Speaker 2: Best ever. And the other one is top three.
[40:31] Speaker 3: Fine, but it's still three MVPs. You got two top
[40:35] Speaker 3: tens and then you got some 600s.
[40:36] Speaker 1: No.
[40:39] Speaker 3: Where was Looney? 700, 800, 900, 1,000?
[40:40] Speaker 2: Don't do the rope.
[40:40] Speaker 3: I'm just saying.
[40:41] Speaker 2: That's my cousin. That's my cousin.
[40:43] Speaker 3: Your cousin's 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000?
[40:43] Speaker 4: Get him his watch, bro.
[40:49] Speaker 3: Damn, he didn't watch?
[40:50] Speaker 2: He didn't get that one. I would have forgot about
[40:52] Speaker 2: the nigga, too.
[40:52] Speaker 3: Come on, man.
[40:52] Speaker 5: Don't do it like that, man.
[40:54] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. He played for the Lakers now.
[40:57] Speaker 2: He played for the Lakers. Looney, you can't say that.
[41:00] Speaker 1: What?
[41:01] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[41:01] Speaker 4: You're the only respect on my dog, Looney, man. The
[41:05] Speaker 4: black dude there.
[41:06] Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
[41:06] Speaker 2: The old black dude.
[41:07] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[41:08] Speaker 2: The black dude.
[41:08] Speaker 3: The big one.
[41:11] Speaker 1: The Revitalago of Lakers.
[41:13] Speaker 3: Once I went all white, you know what I mean?
[41:18] Speaker 3: It's hard to recognize.
[41:19] Speaker 2: It's hard to recognize these things.
[41:20] Speaker 1: All right. So, Swaggy, question for you. Obviously, we saw
[41:26] Speaker 1: what Jalen Brunson did in the postseason, winning the chip finals.
[41:29] Speaker 1: MVP's been speaking very highly of him. Had major love
[41:32] Speaker 1: for him when we saw him in New York. Back
[41:34] Speaker 1: in July, Fanatics Fest, you guys had a great interaction there.
[41:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
[41:38] Speaker 4: That's my dog.
[41:38] Speaker 2: Other situations going on.
[41:39] Speaker 1: But what impact does winning the chip and finals MVP
[41:41] Speaker 1: have on Jalen Brunson standing in the league?
[41:45] Speaker 2: Best points on the league.
[41:48] Speaker 4: Right now.
[41:48] Speaker 2: Nobody's done what he's done.
[41:51] Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
[41:52] Speaker 2: Until somebody trumps that, being, what, 5'8, he did.
[41:56] Speaker 6: He beat everybody that was against him, said shit about him.
[42:00] Speaker 2: You can't say shit about him.
[42:02] Speaker 3: 5'8, took over the league. Hold on.
[42:04] Speaker 2: 5'8, 2'4.
[42:05] Speaker 3: Took over the league, though.
[42:06] Speaker 5: Let me ask you a question.
[42:08] Speaker 3: Hold on.
[42:09] Speaker 2: 5'8, took over the league.
[42:11] Speaker 3: He ain't 5'8, man. He ain't 5'8. That's the way
[42:14] Speaker 3: y'all was saying it.
[42:15] Speaker 2: You give him hair tennis.
[42:17] Speaker 1: He's 5'7.
[42:17] Speaker 4: You make it look way better.
[42:20] Speaker 5: So you got 5'5.
[42:22] Speaker 3: 5'11.
[42:22] Speaker 5: No small golf.
[42:23] Speaker 2: Well, he did. So Jalen Brunson's better.
[42:27] Speaker 3: You got to put him up there with LeBron. No,
[42:29] Speaker 3: I put him up there. I'm not asking you.
[42:30] Speaker 5: So you got Jalen Brunson over Shea.
[42:33] Speaker 3: Hell, yeah. Hell, yeah.
[42:35] Speaker 5: It's aggressive.
[42:35] Speaker 3: Hell, yeah. That's crazy. Whoa, whoa, whoa. What are we doing?
[42:39] Speaker 3: They had the same thing.
[42:40] Speaker 2: No, they didn't.
[42:41] Speaker 5: They couldn't do it against us first.
[42:43] Speaker 3: Brunson did.
[42:44] Speaker 4: Hold on.
[42:44] Speaker 2: Bro, they went game seven without Jalen Williams, though.
[42:47] Speaker 6: That doesn't matter. Who is Jalen Williams compared to everybody else?
[42:50] Speaker 4: Jalen Williams is the top 15 player in the league.
[42:53] Speaker 2: Jalen Williams is a cheese OG.
[42:55] Speaker 3: So, Brunson don't have none of that, right?
[42:57] Speaker 2: Who's top 15 on Brunson's team?
[42:59] Speaker 4: Cat.
[42:59] Speaker 3: Cat. Cat.
[43:01] Speaker 2: He's top 15? He's close.
[43:02] Speaker 4: And then he got three dudes that go there. That's
[43:04] Speaker 4: why Cat don't like you.
[43:05] Speaker 3: That's why Cat don't like you. You beat the odds, bro.
[43:09] Speaker 3: You beat the odds. You won with this, too. You
[43:12] Speaker 3: won with this. Hey, listen.
[43:14] Speaker 2: They won with what?
[43:15] Speaker 3: I think he the best.
[43:16] Speaker 2: I think he the best closer. I think he the
[43:19] Speaker 2: best closer. Think about it. Hold on, though. Who they
[43:23] Speaker 2: won with? He's licking my hand like this.
[43:25] Speaker 4: That's why I ain't like that. I think Brunson is
[43:27] Speaker 4: the best closer.
[43:29] Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness.
[43:30] Speaker 4: Point guard.
[43:31] Speaker 2: One of the best. Best guard in the league.
[43:33] Speaker 4: Might be the best player, low-key.
[43:34] Speaker 2: Man, that's impressive.
[43:35] Speaker 4: Just because I like Ant-Man, I don't want to put
[43:37] Speaker 4: him over Ant-Man.
[43:38] Speaker 2: Listen, I'm going to tell you this, though. Who's done
[43:41] Speaker 2: what he's done?
[43:41] Speaker 3: After Brunson won, it made me rethink how good Isaiah
[43:47] Speaker 3: Thomas was.
[43:48] Speaker 2: Little IT?
[43:48] Speaker 5: Big IT.
[43:49] Speaker 4: Which one?
[43:49] Speaker 2: Big IT? I guess it'd be bigger than the little one. Detroit.
[43:52] Speaker 3: Yeah, Detroit.
[43:53] Speaker 2: Detroit.
[43:53] Speaker 3: And the reason that is is When you're talking about
[43:56] Speaker 3: a guard being 6'2, and you are the best player
[44:01] Speaker 3: on the team, winning a championship, you're talking about, in
[44:07] Speaker 3: this history, there's only been three of you?
[44:11] Speaker 2: Brunson, Steph, and Isaiah.
[44:14] Speaker 3: We watched what Brunson did, so we know how hard
[44:19] Speaker 3: that was.
[44:20] Speaker 4: For sure.
[44:20] Speaker 3: So it made me rethink back.
[44:22] Speaker 4: Wait.
[44:25] Speaker 3: You know how, and I've seen that Detroit team. You
[44:29] Speaker 3: know how good and on point you had to be
[44:33] Speaker 3: to win back-to-back championships while it was a Lakers team,
[44:39] Speaker 3: a Boston team, and Chicago coming up.
[44:43] Speaker 2: And Michael Jordan.
[44:44] Speaker 3: All NBAs, because he didn't make them because they didn't
[44:47] Speaker 3: have third team back then. So he only got a
[44:50] Speaker 3: few because we didn't have third. It was like, yo,
[44:53] Speaker 3: he was way better than what history is saying. So
[44:57] Speaker 3: it made me put him in my five.
[45:01] Speaker 2: And that's why... Your five of what?
[45:03] Speaker 3: Top five. That's what it took? He wasn't already there? No, no.
[45:08] Speaker 2: But that's why.
[45:09] Speaker 3: Come on.
[45:10] Speaker 2: You know what?
[45:12] Speaker 3: My team starts... My five starts with Magic.
[45:15] Speaker 2: That's fine. That's the 90s. I think he was in
[45:17] Speaker 2: the 80s.
[45:18] Speaker 3: Magic, Steph, Isaiah. Simple. That's the top three.
[45:21] Speaker 5: Are you talking about your top five point guards?
[45:23] Speaker 3: All time. That's the top three?
[45:25] Speaker 5: He was already in the top five point guards. But
[45:27] Speaker 5: to your point.
[45:29] Speaker 3: Top three. Automatic.
[45:30] Speaker 5: You're saying Jalen Brown winning made you realize that we
[45:32] Speaker 5: took Isaiah for granted?
[45:33] Speaker 2: Yes.
[45:34] Speaker 4: By far.
[45:35] Speaker 2: Who did I say? Jalen Brown? My bad.
[45:36] Speaker 5: Jalen Brunson winning made you realize that... And Isaiah Thomas
[45:40] Speaker 5: feels like that.
[45:41] Speaker 2: I work with Isaiah.
[45:42] Speaker 5: He feels overlooked to a certain degree because, hey, listen,
[45:46] Speaker 5: I know Magic was playing. I know Jordan was out there. Dog,
[45:50] Speaker 5: I won two chips when those guys were out there.
[45:53] Speaker 5: And if you really go back and do the history...
[45:56] Speaker 5: Should have been three right? They had the Lakers.
[45:58] Speaker 2: On the brink.
[45:59] Speaker 5: There was a phantom foul against Kareem Abdul-Jabbar He would
[46:02] Speaker 5: have had a game that would have went down as
[46:04] Speaker 5: the greatest of all time in the finals because that
[46:06] Speaker 5: was the ankle game He came back in I forgot
[46:08] Speaker 5: the numbers were crazy to assist the steals and there
[46:11] Speaker 5: was a bogus foul called that they would have won
[46:13] Speaker 5: the championship So to your point Isaiah Thomas definitely feels
[46:17] Speaker 5: overlooked because we talked about the Lakers era, right?
[46:20] Speaker 3: Right.
[46:20] Speaker 5: We skip over the bad. We talk about the Lakers
[46:22] Speaker 5: and the Celtics. We skip over the bad boy era,
[46:25] Speaker 5: and then we go straight to the Jordan era. Like,
[46:27] Speaker 5: if you even think about it, when you go back
[46:29] Speaker 5: and watch greatest games, they don't even show you the
[46:32] Speaker 5: games when the Pistons beat the Bulls. They never show
[46:35] Speaker 5: those games.
[46:35] Speaker 2: I'm glad you said that, bro.
[46:37] Speaker 3: Pop that shit for the OG, bro. Pop that shit
[46:39] Speaker 3: for the OG, bro. Think about this.
[46:45] Speaker 5: Isaiah Thomas and those guys were beating the Bulls for years.
[46:48] Speaker 5: Whenever you see the old games, you only see the
[46:51] Speaker 5: game where Jordan and them put them out.
[46:52] Speaker 3: Yes.
[46:53] Speaker 2: Right here.
[46:53] Speaker 4: What, I got something on there?
[46:55] Speaker 2: There's a lot of IT.
[46:58] Speaker 3: Huh?
[46:59] Speaker 2: A lot of.
[46:59] Speaker 3: A lot of what?
[47:01] Speaker 5: A lot, sir. I might have had some spit. I
[47:04] Speaker 5: might have had some spit.
[47:05] Speaker 3: You didn't have nothing there.
[47:08] Speaker 2: He just said you were slobbing.
[47:09] Speaker 3: I might have had.
[47:09] Speaker 1: Because I was getting worked up.
[47:13] Speaker 2: You was going over the mound.
[47:16] Speaker 3: We got the point. You knocked me off my pivot.
[47:19] Speaker 5: I was rolling too.
[47:20] Speaker 4: I forgot what I was about to say. When you
[47:23] Speaker 4: go further down, pause with Jalen Brunson. Because we look
[47:28] Speaker 4: back this year, in my mind, mentally, I thought the
[47:31] Speaker 4: teams that were going to be the two best teams
[47:33] Speaker 4: were arguably OKC, even without Jalen Williams. And to beat
[47:37] Speaker 4: a Spurs team that won 62 games. They were loaded
[47:42] Speaker 4: from one through nine. They had the sixth man of
[47:44] Speaker 4: the year, defensive player of the year, arguably the MVP,
[47:47] Speaker 4: one of the best rookies, all this on a third.
[47:51] Speaker 4: And it was like, yo, they were the team to beat.
[47:54] Speaker 4: And I feel as though Jalen Brunson kind of took
[47:55] Speaker 4: a group of not the best starting five. We realized
[47:59] Speaker 4: how great they were when he carried them across. Because
[48:02] Speaker 4: no matter what, when you sit there, it's like, bro,
[48:05] Speaker 4: Wimpy and them won 60 games out of 22 games.
[48:08] Speaker 2: They were taking out OKC. They beat four out of five.
[48:11] Speaker 4: The team that should have repeated, they beat them four
[48:13] Speaker 4: out of five times when OKC took them out. And
[48:16] Speaker 4: then Jalen Brunson carried him in the game to that
[48:18] Speaker 4: type of hurdle.
[48:19] Speaker 3: What was so funny is if Spurs would have held
[48:22] Speaker 3: on to those leads. Yeah.
[48:24] Speaker 2: Nobody would have been surprised.
[48:26] Speaker 3: Well, I mean, they're not that talented. They do got
[48:31] Speaker 3: two people.
[48:32] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[48:33] Speaker 3: And then they got one in the fourth quarter. Yeah. Right?
[48:36] Speaker 3: But that fourth quarter is what was important because the
[48:41] Speaker 3: other team didn't have that.
[48:42] Speaker 2: And that 45-point close.
[48:44] Speaker 3: They didn't have the experience.
[48:45] Speaker 2: And that 45-point close. OKC had the experience.
[48:50] Speaker 3: They just had their number. Some teams got that, though.
[48:54] Speaker 3: What was the difference, though? I'll tell you the difference.
[48:56] Speaker 5: The Spurs just had their number.
[48:59] Speaker 3: It was that cat.
[49:01] Speaker 2: Cat was the difference. Nah.
[49:03] Speaker 5: You talking about the difference while OKC lost? I think
[49:07] Speaker 5: OKC would have still won that series if J-Dub and...
[49:13] Speaker 5: AJ Mitchell was hurt, too. When you really look at
[49:16] Speaker 5: what they were doing, they were shrinking the court. They
[49:18] Speaker 5: were throwing the kitchen sink at Shea. And they were like, yo,
[49:22] Speaker 5: throw it to the corner. We ain't scared of these dudes. Now,
[49:25] Speaker 5: if you got J-Dub and A.J. Mitchell, that's a different
[49:28] Speaker 5: ball game. Did y'all see what Shea was doing in
[49:29] Speaker 5: game seven?
[49:30] Speaker 4: Right.
[49:31] Speaker 5: Man, listen, I respect him even more. Even though they lost,
[49:33] Speaker 5: I was like, game seven, he was out there dolo, killing.
[49:35] Speaker 2: He was shooting everything. And he was hitting everything, too.
[49:37] Speaker 2: Did he struggle? Did he struggle during that series?
[49:41] Speaker 3: Kat was the difference.
[49:43] Speaker 4: Bridges was killing. He was the difference as well. He
[49:45] Speaker 4: wasn't missing. Bridges was on fire, what, game two through four.
[49:49] Speaker 4: He damn near played perfect on some van free. I
[49:50] Speaker 4: don't even think Kat scored in the fourth quarter of
[49:52] Speaker 4: the finals.
[49:52] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[49:53] Speaker 3: Kat, that's the thing. Kat scored in the first three quarters.
[49:56] Speaker 4: Yes, he did.
[49:58] Speaker 3: And then Brunson in the fourth. Now, why OKC didn't
[50:02] Speaker 3: win is because there was someone who got ghosted out
[50:06] Speaker 3: of the series. As soon as he's seen fringing, whoo-la-la!
[50:10] Speaker 2: First team, all NBA, third team.
[50:12] Speaker 3: I'm out of here.
[50:14] Speaker 2: First team, all defense, third type. You know what I mean?
[50:16] Speaker 3: And that's literally what happened. When you watch the game,
[50:20] Speaker 3: you're sitting here like, yo, what's going on? Did this man.
[50:25] Speaker 2: What would he say?
[50:26] Speaker 3: Whoo-la-la! Like it was like there was no way it
[50:34] Speaker 3: was no way your second option gets taken out of
[50:38] Speaker 3: the game. Like I've seen them didn't want to shoot three.
[50:41] Speaker 3: Like we we've been in games where we see our
[50:45] Speaker 3: player gets ghosted. Like he just don't have it tonight.
[50:49] Speaker 3: Someone has this number. And for some reason, check checked out.
[50:54] Speaker 4: Yeah, he only shot four shots at last, the game cycle.
[50:57] Speaker 3: And that was the difference here, that the second option
[51:00] Speaker 3: did his job when it needed.
[51:02] Speaker 4: How much was the average in that final? In the finals?
[51:05] Speaker 3: Y'all remember, they were saying Brunson was playing horrible. They
[51:08] Speaker 3: showed the shooting percentage.
[51:10] Speaker 2: He was playing horrible, bro. They had a rough series.
[51:13] Speaker 3: They had a rough series. No, I'm just saying, Brunson's
[51:16] Speaker 3: fourth quarter was 90%.
[51:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, them numbers was nasty, bro. And again, that closeout
[51:22] Speaker 2: game was 45 points, which was.
[51:24] Speaker 4: His percentage went up like the last three games of
[51:27] Speaker 4: the series, I believe.
[51:28] Speaker 3: No, his fourth quarter, like the first three quarters, the
[51:31] Speaker 3: fourth quarter, he was shooting about 77%. In the fourth quarter?
[51:34] Speaker 2: In the fourth quarter. Brunson.
[51:36] Speaker 4: Oh, no, facts.
[51:37] Speaker 2: That fourth quarter, there's like.
[51:39] Speaker 4: I'm saying the games that they lost.
[51:40] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[51:41] Speaker 4: Compared them to.
[51:42] Speaker 1: But Brunson, 33, five assists, four rebounds. But the shooting
[51:46] Speaker 1: percentage went up in games four, five, six. That's what
[51:48] Speaker 1: I just said. The last three games of the.
[51:50] Speaker 4: Series, the percentage just went up.
[51:53] Speaker 3: Come on, bro. Stop playing with me.
[51:56] Speaker 2: If he was a little cooler, he'd be Steph Curry
[51:58] Speaker 2: right now. Who? Brunson.
[52:00] Speaker 6: If he had like a little aura to him and
[52:03] Speaker 6: was like, I don't talk to him.
[52:04] Speaker 3: You know what it is? He's funny.
[52:05] Speaker 2: He's funny.
[52:08] Speaker 3: He got wide hips.
[52:10] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
[52:11] Speaker 3: If he was, like, a little cooler, like... He not neat.
[52:14] Speaker 3: He'll be like that. His hair thin and, like... Yeah, bro.
[52:18] Speaker 2: So, let's hit Brunson real quick before we move on.
[52:21] Speaker 3: He look like his dad.
[52:23] Speaker 2: You don't have the most outgoing personality.
[52:25] Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
[52:25] Speaker 2: But he does, though. He do, though.
[52:27] Speaker 3: He can hoop his ass off. When you send me
[52:29] Speaker 3: interviews with Josh Hart.
[52:32] Speaker 2: They got their roommate show on Playmaker. Shout out to Playmaker.
[52:34] Speaker 4: He just.
[52:36] Speaker 5: The celebrities he hang out with.
[52:39] Speaker 3: It's just like on the court.
[52:40] Speaker 2: It's business on the court. But here's my question for you.
[52:43] Speaker 1: You've been very adamant that you don't think Jalen Brunson
[52:45] Speaker 1: will become a megastar, but he's hosting the season premiere
[52:47] Speaker 1: of Saturday Night Live.
[52:48] Speaker 3: And that's what you're supposed to do.
[52:51] Speaker 1: Is he on that path and trajectory now becoming a megastar?
[52:55] Speaker 4: Do you understand what I'm saying? It's a holiday. Even
[52:58] Speaker 4: if he was cool or not, we just made, I mean,
[53:00] Speaker 4: when Sandy was lit, we made Eli look like one
[53:03] Speaker 4: of the greatest quarterbacks ever. We played two good games
[53:06] Speaker 4: in 15.
[53:06] Speaker 3: He's like Eli. But that's, but okay, so like, when
[53:09] Speaker 3: you think about like, like, he don't need to be
[53:13] Speaker 3: like this, but you can see what moves the needle
[53:15] Speaker 3: when you're talking about being famous.
[53:17] Speaker 4: Well, Josh Hart's even famous now.
[53:19] Speaker 2: Odell Beckham, right? When he was in New York, right?
[53:22] Speaker 2: Still in New York, yeah.
[53:23] Speaker 3: Nah, I mean, when he was, he grabs the attention.
[53:26] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[53:27] Speaker 3: With Brunson, you being in New York, but you're, because
[53:30] Speaker 3: you're Cold Stone killer, You need to do things to
[53:34] Speaker 3: get you out there. Because your personality, you're not going
[53:37] Speaker 3: to be doing things that's going to keep you on
[53:38] Speaker 3: the radar.
[53:39] Speaker 2: So you got to go.
[53:40] Speaker 4: I think his personality worked for New York, though, honestly.
[53:42] Speaker 3: It do, but when you're talking global, when you're talking global,
[53:46] Speaker 3: there's just little things you have to do.
[53:48] Speaker 4: I don't think you need global when you're the king
[53:49] Speaker 4: of New York. He could be like Eli Manning now.
[53:52] Speaker 4: I don't think you need global. New York going to
[53:54] Speaker 4: take care of him forever.
[53:56] Speaker 2: But he wasn't on TV.
[53:57] Speaker 4: Stop that, man.
[53:57] Speaker 2: Stop that. I'm just saying.
[54:01] Speaker 4: But he's doing Saturday Night Live?
[54:04] Speaker 2: Saturday Night Live.
[54:06] Speaker 1: See?
[54:06] Speaker 3: My marketing would be, hey, we need to capitalize, you know,
[54:09] Speaker 3: get you on out there, you know.
[54:10] Speaker 2: So do you think he has the potential to become
[54:12] Speaker 2: a mega star? You know, tell him, hey, see, there's
[54:13] Speaker 2: a shoe coming.
[54:14] Speaker 5: But if you really think about it, let's look at
[54:15] Speaker 5: the top guys in the league. The guys that we
[54:18] Speaker 5: think are the next up, though none of them have
[54:19] Speaker 5: a big personality. Shea don't have a big personality. Brunson
[54:22] Speaker 5: don't have a big personality. Wimby don't have a big personality.
[54:24] Speaker 3: That's why it's Anthony's.
[54:25] Speaker 2: That's why it's Anthony's lead.
[54:26] Speaker 4: Ah.
[54:27] Speaker 1: Shit.
[54:28] Speaker 3: Hold on. Hold on.
[54:30] Speaker 1: Shit.
[54:30] Speaker 3: You saw the commercial that you dropped today?
[54:32] Speaker 1: We're going to talk about it later in the show.
[54:33] Speaker 2: Boogie. We're going to hit it. Boogie. No, I think
[54:36] Speaker 2: Ant's cold.
[54:37] Speaker 5: But you know, Ant will go a little farther than
[54:40] Speaker 5: what they want him to do for the face.
[54:42] Speaker 3: It's familiar to me.
[54:43] Speaker 5: I know it.
[54:44] Speaker 2: Okay.
[54:46] Speaker 3: Let's put it out there.
[54:48] Speaker 5: When we think of the face of the league, you know,
[54:49] Speaker 5: Ant will sometimes go a little bit farther than the
[54:51] Speaker 5: press conference.
[54:51] Speaker 2: It's familiar to me, man.
[54:52] Speaker 5: I know it's familiar to you, but... Does the face
[54:55] Speaker 5: of the league really always speak in that realm?
[54:59] Speaker 3: Yes. Can we talk about the.
[55:02] Speaker 2: Faces of the league?
[55:04] Speaker 5: Did LeBron not do it?
[55:07] Speaker 4: Magic was having interviews in the backyard talking about how
[55:10] Speaker 4: many bodies he took down.
[55:11] Speaker 2: What are we talking about?
[55:12] Speaker 3: It's just the look that a woman gives you. If
[55:15] Speaker 3: you look through history, there is two type of Face
[55:17] Speaker 3: is like, you can get away. I don't know about.
[55:22] Speaker 2: It wasn't the face. I don't want Shea to be
[55:24] Speaker 2: the face.
[55:24] Speaker 3: The face of the NBA is what the NBA is pushing.
[55:27] Speaker 2: Right? So, as of right now, who runs the league? Nike.
[55:32] Speaker 3: What did Nike just tell you?
[55:34] Speaker 4: Well, they actually did need Shea.
[55:35] Speaker 3: What did Nike just tell you who is going to
[55:38] Speaker 3: be the face they're going to put?
[55:39] Speaker 2: Wimby. Wimby.
[55:41] Speaker 3: Shea.
[55:41] Speaker 4: Shea.
[55:42] Speaker 2: They took Converse. They took Converse. They took Converse. They
[55:45] Speaker 2: do own Converse. Remember, he's Converse. Remember, he's Converse.
[55:50] Speaker 3: Oh, he is? Yes.
[55:51] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[55:52] Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, you're right there. They said, take them off.
[55:56] Speaker 2: I mean, them sales fucked up.
[55:57] Speaker 4: Take them off, we're going to pull.
[55:59] Speaker 2: 80% down.
[56:00] Speaker 3: So they went for Kate because they're a money person.
[56:02] Speaker 2: Hold on, Shay's on Nike now?
[56:03] Speaker 1: Yes.
[56:03] Speaker 2: They upgraded him. Nike owns Converse. Nike grabbed Converse.
[56:07] Speaker 4: They just took him from Converse.
[56:09] Speaker 2: And they're going to give him all Jai's shoes. All
[56:12] Speaker 2: of them.
[56:12] Speaker 3: Oh, because Jai got the best shoes. But that's still
[56:15] Speaker 3: a dark horse right there.
[56:16] Speaker 2: Jai is the one helping Nike right now. Jai still got.
[56:18] Speaker 3: The best shoes. Jai's got the highest shit selling in Nike.
[56:21] Speaker 2: He got the best shoes.
[56:22] Speaker 3: No, no, no.
[56:23] Speaker 2: That's why they sent this out to Portland. We got
[56:25] Speaker 2: the best.
[56:25] Speaker 3: Come here. That was the face that Nike was looking
[56:28] Speaker 3: for because.
[56:30] Speaker 2: He has the aura.
[56:31] Speaker 4: He's a new Iverson.
[56:32] Speaker 3: He was the aura that you just can't make. But
[56:35] Speaker 3: because he got in trouble, they're like, ah.
[56:37] Speaker 4: That man ain't even getting in trouble.
[56:38] Speaker 3: Because he's so young, he can probably have. But right now,
[56:42] Speaker 3: it looks like it's going to be.
[56:43] Speaker 4: That's getting in trouble.
[56:45] Speaker 2: Wow. That's getting in trouble. And you have Wimby.
[56:50] Speaker 3: But they know they can't move many units with Wimby
[56:53] Speaker 3: because big men don't really sell like that. But he
[56:56] Speaker 3: has the professionalism. He can talk. He has different language.
[56:59] Speaker 2: He started getting niggerish. Oh, man.
[57:03] Speaker 4: He did.
[57:03] Speaker 2: Like, during the playoffs, he started getting a little out
[57:05] Speaker 2: of bounds.
[57:06] Speaker 4: Who that?
[57:06] Speaker 3: Wendy. Wendy. Muffin. I fuck with it.
[57:09] Speaker 2: I fuck with it. I fuck with it, bro.
[57:11] Speaker 4: I'm like, hey, they don't like this over here.
[57:14] Speaker 3: I think shit's sweet in France, man. Y'all know this
[57:18] Speaker 3: shit ain't sweet in France.
[57:19] Speaker 4: I like that, too, but he wasn't with me.
[57:20] Speaker 3: Shit ain't sweet. Ooh, la, la, my ass.
[57:22] Speaker 2: I was talking crazy. I'm like, bro, like, they don't
[57:25] Speaker 2: like all that now. Like, that was crazy. Shay is
[57:29] Speaker 2: the perfect.
[57:30] Speaker 5: I didn't realize Shay had switched over to Nike. That's
[57:34] Speaker 5: going to be huge. Because we bringing up the Jaws.
[57:37] Speaker 5: Jaw hasn't had one of them seasons in years. But, man,
[57:40] Speaker 5: you go to the AAU tournaments, that's all you see. Or, like,
[57:43] Speaker 5: you think about Kyrie's shoe before he switched over to.
[57:46] Speaker 4: The new brand.
[57:47] Speaker 2: They fucked up with that? Bro, exactly, but.
[57:49] Speaker 5: Kyrie he had been hurt didn't matter you went to
[57:51] Speaker 5: everybody was which so now we gonna have a play
[57:55] Speaker 5: that's what that's obviously one of the top five and
[57:58] Speaker 5: Everybody gonna be rocking the shoe.
[58:00] Speaker 3: He got he got the mannerisms.
[58:02] Speaker 2: He talks he's married, right?
[58:04] Speaker 3: He's a family man What.

[58:14] Speaker 3: I told y'all to do it. Cut the break.
[58:16] Speaker 5: Oh, I'll do that, bro. They don't want it?
[58:21] Speaker 3: I'll take it, goddammit. I know this comes with billions of.
[58:26] Speaker 2: You might be on the show. You might be on
[58:28] Speaker 2: the show. I'm telling you right now.
[58:29] Speaker 3: I didn't realize that he.
[58:30] Speaker 5: OKC.
[58:30] Speaker 2: If y'all don't win this shit, if y'all don't win.
[58:32] Speaker 3: This shit, that boy's gone. OKC don't win and be winners.
[58:48] Speaker 3: Nike is moving that man. And I've always said this.
[58:53] Speaker 3: When you're in a small city and Nike stamps your
[58:57] Speaker 3: player as a signature guy because there's only six to
[59:00] Speaker 3: seven of them.
[59:01] Speaker 2: There's only... Does Paul George still have his?
[59:06] Speaker 3: But there's only six to seven of them. Detroit did
[59:09] Speaker 3: one last year. Boom, boom.
[59:10] Speaker 2: He's on his way up. Right? And I can tell
[59:11] Speaker 2: you this.
[59:12] Speaker 3: Every signature they've put has went to a big market
[59:16] Speaker 3: or a second-tier market.
[59:18] Speaker 2: Guaranteed. It's about money. It's bigger than me. Mm-hmm.
[59:22] Speaker 3: They're going to put their players.
[59:24] Speaker 2: So I think Shea would be the seventh now. Bronson?
[59:27] Speaker 2: This shit would sell.
[59:28] Speaker 4: Bro, but Bronson's kind of on a level with Steph.
[59:30] Speaker 2: Shout out to Steph.
[59:31] Speaker 4: But, like, sometimes the streets just don't like the dudes
[59:34] Speaker 4: that do it right. Like, you know what I mean? Like...
[59:36] Speaker 4: That's just the truth. Like, Steph should be the biggest
[59:38] Speaker 4: dude on Earth, and it's just like... He was under
[59:40] Speaker 4: Under Armour.
[59:42] Speaker 2: No, but he's Steph Curry.
[59:44] Speaker 3: Them shits was weak as fuck.

[59:52] Speaker 3: had people buying that bullshit.
[59:54] Speaker 2: He was about to change, about to go to Nike.
[59:57] Speaker 2: Remember this year?
[59:59] Speaker 3: What? Please go to Nike, Steph.
[1:00:01] Speaker 2: But he had kids rocking Under Armour. Like, I'm about
[1:00:03] Speaker 2: to do it. I'm about to do it. I'm about
[1:00:05] Speaker 2: to do it. That in itself is Hall.

[1:00:18] Speaker 4: Like Sabrina's and Ja. That is AAU. Josh, so we
