Gil's Arena Debates What's Next For The New York Knicks & San Antonio Spurs as the Gil's Arena Crew continues to break down the NBA Finals following the Knicks epic run to the NBA Championship and debate if this series sparked a new rivalry in the league between Victor Wembanyama's Spurs and Jalen Brunson's Knicks. They also examine the Knicks unprecedented run through the NBA Playoffs and debate if their 16-3 run including 14 straight wins was one of the greatest playoff runs in NBA history, before reacting to next season's odds for the NBA Championship where they break down if the Knicks can be the first team in 8 years to go back to back. Next, they do a post mortum on the San Antonio Spurs and discuss what's next for the team that fell short this season as they face big decisions with players like De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper and head coach Mitch Johnson. Finally, they react to OKC Thunder GM Sam Presti clapping back at the flopping narrative surrounding his franchise superstar Shai Gilgeous Alexander and discuss LeBron James' upcoming free agency where the Golden State Warriors are quietly emerging as a top suitor, allowing LeBron to team up with other aging legends like Steph Curry & Draymond Green. [0:02] Speaker 1: Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Underdog Whoop Whoop.
[0:05] Speaker 1: How everybody feeling today?
[0:07] Speaker 2: Good.
[0:08] Speaker 1: Championship hangover, we good? Still smoking the Wimby pack?
[0:13] Speaker 3: A little bit. A little bit?
[0:15] Speaker 4: They ain't had a parade yet. I know.
[0:17] Speaker 1: Parade coming Thursday. We got a lot to discuss today though.
[0:21] Speaker 1: This is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog Whoop Whoop. I'm
[0:24] Speaker 1: Amelia Warren, winning host Josiah Johnson. We're joined by NBA
[0:27] Speaker 1: champion of the world, Swaggy P, Nick Young. Representing Tough Crowd,
[0:35] Speaker 1: Tough Crowd Golf, and a card-carrying country club member, we
[0:37] Speaker 1: got Mr. B, Brandon, Jenny.
[0:39] Speaker 2: Ho, ho, ho, ho!
[0:42] Speaker 5: Ah.
[0:43] Speaker 6: Four! I was waiting for it. Left. I was waiting
[0:47] Speaker 6: for it. We got four right, actually. You are, yeah.
[0:53] Speaker 1: We got one of the biggest legends in the sports
[0:54] Speaker 1: media game, Skip Bayless.
[0:56] Speaker 2: It's my turn!
[0:59] Speaker 1: On this side of the couch. Wait, no sound effect
[1:01] Speaker 1: for Skip?
[1:02] Speaker 6: It's my turn! I'll slack you.
[1:06] Speaker 3: It's my turn.
[1:09] Speaker 6: Double up.
[1:10] Speaker 1: On this side of the couch, we got a distinguished
[1:11] Speaker 1: gentleman from Oak Cliff, former number one pick, Kenyon Martin.
[1:17] Speaker 6: What's that?
[1:21] Speaker 1: And last but not least, the man they call Cemetery Larry,
[1:23] Speaker 1: NCAA champion of the world, Dr. Rashad McCants, Ph. License revoked?
[1:28] Speaker 3: I'm building a hospital. Okay. Rashad. Just Rashad. Just Rashad.
[1:35] Speaker 6: Rashad in the building.
[1:40] Speaker 3: Just Rashad. Just Rashad.
[1:44] Speaker 1: Oh, we got a lot to get into. Here's what's
[1:45] Speaker 1: cracking in Gil's arena today. The Knicks are the eighth
[1:49] Speaker 1: German champion in the past eight seasons. But should they
[1:52] Speaker 1: run it back with their core or make a major
[1:54] Speaker 1: move to keep their window open? Wimby is taking some
[1:57] Speaker 1: heat for some questionable decisions and comments throughout this postseason.
[2:01] Speaker 1: But is the alien too cocky or just confident. And
[2:05] Speaker 1: Thunder GM Sam Presti clapped back at SGA haters over
[2:08] Speaker 1: the foul-baiting narrative, but is he spitting or tripping? Talked
[2:11] Speaker 1: about that a little bit yesterday. We will dive in
[2:13] Speaker 1: more today, but before we get into all that, the
[2:15] Speaker 1: show is brought to you by Underdog. Underdog's available in
[2:17] Speaker 1: most states, including Texas, California, and Florida. New customers get

[2:48] Speaker 1: They're giving away $ 25 million if the USA wins the Volkswagen.
[2:51] Speaker 1: That leads me to believe it's going to be a
[2:54] Speaker 1: hard road for America to get it done, but Make
[2:58] Speaker 1: sure you check out the Underdog app for all those.
[3:00] Speaker 1: Try to get that 25 mil. Believe in America like

[3:06] Speaker 1: audio versions available on Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts.
[3:09] Speaker 1: So Knicks have been turning up after winning their first
[3:12] Speaker 1: chip since 1973 this weekend. We've seen a variety of
[3:16] Speaker 1: things going on. OG Ananobi absolutely fried during the interview.
[3:22] Speaker 1: Mikael Bridges going hard on his IG Live. May or
[3:25] Speaker 1: may not have been inebriated. There's also a video that
[3:27] Speaker 1: started circulating Monday of Jalen Brunson and other members of
[3:31] Speaker 1: the team where a special toast was made. So for
[3:42] Speaker 1: the hearing impaired, that was an F Wimby toast. Although
[3:46] Speaker 1: it's unclear if Brunson is actually the one saying it,
[3:48] Speaker 1: he did raise his glass to the toast. And for
[3:51] Speaker 1: good reason, as Brunson found himself on the wrong end
[3:53] Speaker 1: of a few questionable moments with Wimby In the finals,
[3:56] Speaker 1: we have a few for your viewing pleasure. You may remember,
[3:59] Speaker 1: you might remember the shove to the dome in game
[4:02] Speaker 1: three in Madison Square Garden in front of the president
[4:06] Speaker 1: and also getting shaken up after Wimby closed out underneath
[4:08] Speaker 1: him on a three-point attempt. Looked malicious, right? He do
[4:12] Speaker 1: have a big-ass foot.
[4:13] Speaker 6: Though, Swaggy, but.
[4:15] Speaker 5: Looked down.
[4:16] Speaker 1: It's just, you know, he made sure to know where
[4:19] Speaker 1: that foot was at. So Wimby avoided any consequences or
[4:21] Speaker 1: repercussions for both transgressions. French Phenom also opted not to
[4:26] Speaker 1: shake hands with Brunson or any other Knick after the
[4:28] Speaker 1: Spurs were eliminated. Swaggy, we'll start with you. What's your
[4:31] Speaker 1: reaction to Brunson and the Knicks saying F. Wimby in
[4:35] Speaker 1: their toast after winning the championship?
[4:37] Speaker 5: Oh, man, I love it. I love it. That's what
[4:42] Speaker 5: the Knicks got to do. They had fun. They won.
[4:45] Speaker 5: You didn't shake my hand. So now you got to
[4:48] Speaker 5: be open for everything that comes with it if I
[4:51] Speaker 5: feel a certain way. after I just, you know, kicked
[4:54] Speaker 5: your ass fire in game five, four to one. So, yeah,
[4:59] Speaker 5: do all the toasts. Enjoy the parade. Say F-Wimby all summer.
[5:04] Speaker 6: All summer.
[5:05] Speaker 3: All summer. T-shirts.
[5:07] Speaker 5: T-shirts. They should all have it at the parade on Thursday.
[5:11] Speaker 6: Okay.
[5:13] Speaker 1: Mr. B, let's shift over to you. You see Brunson
[5:15] Speaker 1: and that squad turning up. Obviously, they've been on a
[5:18] Speaker 1: tour since then. Jimmy Fallon, a bunch of other things.
[5:20] Speaker 1: But the F-Wimby toast after winning the championship.
[5:22] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[5:23] Speaker 4: Well, who said it? Like, just some random person?
[5:25] Speaker 6: A few.
[5:26] Speaker 1: There was a few different voices. We can play the
[5:27] Speaker 1: video again.
[5:28] Speaker 6: That is a good question.
[5:30] Speaker 1: I made it clear we don't know if it's Brunson
[5:31] Speaker 1: for sure, but he didn't.
[5:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it probably was somebody, just a random
[5:35] Speaker 4: Knick fan.
[5:35] Speaker 7: But, hey, the season's over. They're having fun. They're doing
[5:38] Speaker 7: what they're supposed to do, have fun and toast and
[5:41] Speaker 7: enjoy the moment right now. But, you know, there's another
[5:46] Speaker 7: season next year. And that dude, Wimby, is coming back
[5:49] Speaker 7: next year, too. So, you know, feel the fire.
[5:52] Speaker 1: You're going to have to wait 100 games at least
[5:54] Speaker 1: for the opportunity to get back into the finals. Avenge
[5:57] Speaker 1: this finals loss, but Canaan, let's shift over to you.
[6:00] Speaker 1: When you hear Brunson and that crew, and again, unclear
[6:03] Speaker 1: if Brunson was actually the one that said it, a
[6:04] Speaker 1: bunch of different voices all saluting F. Wimby when you
[6:07] Speaker 1: hear that toast. What do you think about it?
[6:11] Speaker 6: No, I just, why does everything have to be everybody's business? Like,
[6:17] Speaker 6: you know, I hate the camera phone shit, bro. it's
[6:21] Speaker 6: needed when either you want to take pictures of your
[6:22] Speaker 6: loved ones and all that shit, but everybody was recording
[6:26] Speaker 6: all the time. So no moment is private. No moment
[6:28] Speaker 6: is sacred anymore. So I don't think Jalen Brunson would
[6:34] Speaker 6: initiate a fucking Wimby toast. Um, he doesn't seem like
[6:37] Speaker 6: that kind of a person. Um, somebody said it multiple times,
[6:42] Speaker 6: trying to get multiple people, trying to get everybody to
[6:44] Speaker 6: buy into it, but they enjoying themselves, man. Let them celebrate. Um,
[6:50] Speaker 6: Long season, well-deserved championship. So it's just, yeah, things are
[6:55] Speaker 6: gonna get out that shouldn't get out like this. But
[7:00] Speaker 6: let them enjoy their moment. And then have a blast
[7:05] Speaker 6: this summer, man. Can we hear that video one more time, please?
[7:09] Speaker 6: I listened to it about a month ago. A lot
[7:24] Speaker 6: of F. Wimby's.
[7:25] Speaker 5: They in the club, man. Of course.
[7:27] Speaker 6: That's what you do. Yeah, they in the club. I
[7:28] Speaker 6: don't go to the club.
[7:28] Speaker 5: That's what happens in the.
[7:30] Speaker 1: We don't do that in Bible study.
[7:32] Speaker 4: I can't believe this. Yeah. This is.
[7:36] Speaker 5: You're saying F. LeBron and all that after.
[7:40] Speaker 5: After we won, you know.
[7:41] Speaker 6: Mr. Rashad.
[7:42] Speaker 5: Just playing around.
[7:43] Speaker 3: Just Rashad.
[7:44] Speaker 1: Just Rashad. Just Rashad. I try to treat you with respect.
[7:47] Speaker 3: Let's all do that.
[7:50] Speaker 1: When you hear that, do we feel like we have
[7:52] Speaker 1: the makings of a rivalry brewing between these two squads, no?
[7:55] Speaker 5: No.
[7:57] Speaker 3: I think it's respect. They didn't say fuck the Spurs.
[8:04] Speaker 3: I think that's just ultimate respect to say fuck Wimby.
[8:07] Speaker 3: Like he was the one you needed to beat. And
[8:09] Speaker 3: not to Spurs. So if it's going to be fuck
[8:12] Speaker 3: Wimby all summer, shit, I feel like Wimby don't pay
[8:14] Speaker 3: attention to social media anyway. So it's like, cool. Put
[8:18] Speaker 3: my name out there. If you're talking about me good
[8:21] Speaker 3: or bad, you're talking about me. It don't matter. I'm
[8:23] Speaker 3: on your mind. So I love it. It's all social media.
[8:27] Speaker 5: Shit.
[8:27] Speaker 3: Fuck it. Let it go. You know what I'm saying?
[8:30] Speaker 3: Let it fly. Knicks deserve it. So they deserve to
[8:32] Speaker 3: say fuck everybody. Not just Wimby. Everybody.
[8:36] Speaker 4: Okay.
[8:36] Speaker 3: All right.
[8:38] Speaker 1: Skip, let's shift over to you. I listened to a video.
[8:40] Speaker 1: I thought I might have heard your voice. I wasn't sure.
[8:42] Speaker 1: I know because you were out here in L.A.
[8:43] Speaker 6: With us.
[8:44] Speaker 3: He text somebody.
[8:46] Speaker 6: I was there. I was there.
[8:48] Speaker 1: I've been watching your videos on the app formerly known
[8:51] Speaker 1: as Spoilerskip.
[8:52] Speaker 2: I appreciate it. I got one viewer, right?
[8:54] Speaker 6: What? Millions. Millions.
[8:56] Speaker 1: Victim Wimbinyama, I believe, was one viewer. What do you
[9:02] Speaker 1: think about Brunson and Nix?
[9:03] Speaker 2: By the way, Rashad, are you... Are you wearing your
[9:06] Speaker 2: prediction for next year? I was just curious.
[9:09] Speaker 3: I just love basketball, Skip.
[9:10] Speaker 2: Oh, that's awesome.
[9:11] Speaker 3: I just love basketball. Let's not get it twisted.
[9:13] Speaker 2: Are you on the Pistons bandwagon?
[9:15] Speaker 3: No, no, I just love hoopers. I love hoopers. I
[9:18] Speaker 3: love basketball. I got a whole closet full of this shit.
[9:21] Speaker 3: I got to pick which jersey I want to wear,
[9:23] Speaker 3: so I ran out.
[9:26] Speaker 2: I'm with all you guys. I don't read too much
[9:29] Speaker 2: into what that was. And the Knicks have been on
[9:33] Speaker 2: this media tour, and it's Josiah. suggests that they'd all
[9:38] Speaker 2: had a few, a whole lot of few. And I
[9:43] Speaker 2: don't think Jalen Brunson initiated the F-Wimby, but I will
[9:50] Speaker 2: say this. I do think there's a little brewing bad
[9:56] Speaker 2: blood between the shortest man on the floor and the
[9:59] Speaker 2: tallest man on the floor. And you did the David
[10:02] Speaker 2: and Goliath reference yesterday. And there was a lot of
[10:05] Speaker 2: that going on. But if you look back and you
[10:09] Speaker 2: showed the smush down or shove down or whatever that was,
[10:13] Speaker 2: and then Draymond did say on his podcast, I know
[10:17] Speaker 2: we're going to talk about another podcast. I guess he
[10:19] Speaker 2: does one every day.
[10:20] Speaker 6: We're going to talk about both of them.
[10:22] Speaker 2: But Draymond did say on his podcast going back a
[10:25] Speaker 2: week or so ago that it sure looked to Draymond
[10:31] Speaker 2: like Wimby sent one of his best buddies on the team,
[10:35] Speaker 2: veteran Harrison Barnes, into the game to try to take
[10:42] Speaker 2: Jalen Brunson out or cheap shot him. and they did
[10:45] Speaker 2: bang knees, for what that's worth. And then yesterday on X,
[10:49] Speaker 2: formerly known as Twitter, there was much made, a long thread,
[10:54] Speaker 2: about the uncalled flagrant foul on Wimby, where he did
[10:59] Speaker 2: come down, as you point out, slipping his giant shoe
[11:03] Speaker 2: underneath Jalen's landing area. And it looks like Wimby is,
[11:08] Speaker 2: he's not looking at the ball, trying to block the ball.
[11:11] Speaker 2: He's looking down at Jalen's feet, as in trying to
[11:14] Speaker 2: position his feet to take Jalen Brunson out with a
[11:19] Speaker 2: potential ankle injury. And Jalen's had a bunch of ankle
[11:22] Speaker 2: injuries in his career. And the suggestion on Twitter was
[11:26] Speaker 2: that the NBA would have gone back and looked at
[11:29] Speaker 2: that and almost had to go ahead and reinstate a
[11:33] Speaker 2: flagrant call, which would have cost him, obviously, game six
[11:38] Speaker 2: back at Madison Square Garden. So between those two, there
[11:41] Speaker 2: are three incidents that did happen where there could be
[11:46] Speaker 2: a little bad blood, and I didn't see the rest
[11:50] Speaker 2: of the Knicks rush to protect Jalen at all. I
[11:52] Speaker 2: didn't see them running to his rescue or the way
[11:57] Speaker 2: I think Kenyon would have been in the middle of
[11:59] Speaker 2: it once, especially on the shove-down play. Maybe they just
[12:03] Speaker 2: didn't see it, but I do think to have a rivalry,
[12:08] Speaker 2: you need to play, and they're only going to play
[12:09] Speaker 2: twice in the regular season, and then What are the
[12:12] Speaker 2: odds that they play again in next year's finals? Not terrible,
[12:17] Speaker 2: but not great. And to get a rivalry going, you know,
[12:22] Speaker 2: it's like LeBron versus the Spurs. They played three times.
[12:25] Speaker 2: LeBron versus Golden State, they played, what, four times. So
[12:28] Speaker 2: you're going to need some repetition here of finals over
[12:32] Speaker 2: the next couple of years. Is it sure it's possible?
[12:35] Speaker 2: And I like it. I like the, for my sake,
[12:38] Speaker 2: our sake, talkability here. I like Nick Spurs. I think
[12:43] Speaker 2: it's interesting to me. And I like the little man
[12:46] Speaker 2: versus the big man. And I would like to see
[12:49] Speaker 2: this get run back this year. I would enjoy this.
[12:52] Speaker 2: So I do think there's an undercurrent of bad blood
[12:56] Speaker 2: between a guy who will never talk about it publicly
[12:58] Speaker 2: and Jalen Brunson. And for Wimby to acknowledge it publicly,
[13:04] Speaker 2: I mean, you're talking about a guy who's like 5'11.
[13:06] Speaker 6: So I.
[13:10] Speaker 2: But I do think there's some reality going on here.
[13:14] Speaker 2: There's a little bit of early bad blood, especially between
[13:20] Speaker 2: Brunson and Wimby.
[13:22] Speaker 1: I mean, this is not just limited to 2026. Go
[13:25] Speaker 1: back a couple years, Brunson dropped 61, San Antonio, Wimby
[13:28] Speaker 1: threw the game ball into the crowd.
[13:29] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I forgot.
[13:30] Speaker 3: That was quite as malicious.
[13:31] Speaker 2: That's a ways back, yeah. That's a good one.
[13:37] Speaker 1: Threw his game ball into the crutch. Get a little
[13:39] Speaker 1: nigga the ball back, Swank.
[13:40] Speaker 5: That's called taking 60 points. Man.
[13:45] Speaker 6: Took the 61-point ball.
[13:46] Speaker 1: Spurs got the win, threw it in the crowd, so.
[13:49] Speaker 5: Well, they was in the club in that video, right? Yeah. Yeah, see.
[13:53] Speaker 5: I think he probably just taking a shot with fans,
[13:55] Speaker 5: and you can't control what fans say, though.
[13:58] Speaker 1: They do do a lot. A lot of voices had
[14:01] Speaker 1: a buzz.
[14:01] Speaker 3: A lot of echoes in there.
[14:03] Speaker 6: There was a lot of... There's going to be a
[14:04] Speaker 6: lot of parents. They ain't going to do it.
[14:10] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[14:12] Speaker 3: It was a yeah.
[14:14] Speaker 6: I could cheers to that. I could cheers to that.
[14:17] Speaker 6: It was a little extra.
[14:19] Speaker 4: Take a shot.
[14:19] Speaker 3: Take a shot with me. Take a shot with me.
[14:21] Speaker 6: But I ain't got a... Man, we.
[14:23] Speaker 3: What you talking about?
[14:24] Speaker 6: Fuck, why we got to be.
[14:25] Speaker 3: Nah, I'm in the moment. You lit, though.
[14:29] Speaker 6: You lit, though.
[14:33] Speaker 1: It's not even necessarily Nick Spurs, but it feels like
[14:35] Speaker 1: we got a Brunson-Wimby, even though they don't play the
[14:37] Speaker 1: same position. Something for the league to put.
[14:40] Speaker 7: I think you just got a big versus the small guard.
[14:43] Speaker 4: Just a thing in general.
[14:44] Speaker 7: The bigs have been dominating from Jokic to Embiid to
[14:50] Speaker 7: Greek Freak. Now you got somebody American guard, 5'11. Yeah,
[14:56] Speaker 7: that beat an international player. Yeah, we've been on the
[15:00] Speaker 7: couch talking about the international players taking over.
[15:03] Speaker 3: What happened? Our beef is with the Thunder. Our beef
[15:08] Speaker 3: is with SGA and them. New York is cool. No,
[15:13] Speaker 3: it ain't. No, Wimmy.
[15:14] Speaker 6: No, Wimmy.
[15:15] Speaker 7: This is the second time you done lost to an American.
[15:17] Speaker 3: No, that's cool, boo. No, no, no.
[15:20] Speaker 4: No, that's not cool.
[15:22] Speaker 2: What do you mean beef or just rivalry?
[15:25] Speaker 3: We're going to kick y'all ass.
[15:27] Speaker 2: But is there bad blood?
[15:28] Speaker 6: 100%.
[15:29] Speaker 3: You don't remember the series?
[15:32] Speaker 2: Do I?
[15:33] Speaker 3: Do you remember the other games we beat you guys?
[15:36] Speaker 2: Unfortunately, I do.
[15:37] Speaker 3: And then me and you have a rivalry because you
[15:39] Speaker 3: like him and I like him, and I'm going to
[15:41] Speaker 3: be kicking your ass from this one.
[15:43] Speaker 2: But there weren't any cheap shots or incidents?
[15:45] Speaker 3: There definitely was.
[15:47] Speaker 6: Lou Dort. Hold on.
[15:49] Speaker 2: Lou Dort did what? He did it to Joker.
[15:51] Speaker 3: He tackled people.
[15:53] Speaker 4: Tackled people?
[15:55] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[15:55] Speaker 2: Stephon Castle made the Pro Bowl against the Thunder.
[15:58] Speaker 3: But he's a Hall of Famer. He's a Hall of Famer.
[16:01] Speaker 3: Lou Dort is a Hall of Famer.
[16:02] Speaker 2: He's going to be lucky if he's a Thunder next year.
[16:04] Speaker 3: That will make it better for you guys. That will
[16:07] Speaker 3: make it better.
[16:07] Speaker 5: Lou Dort is a Hall of Famer.
[16:09] Speaker 6: Pro Bowler.
[16:09] Speaker 1: I think this is a football.
[16:11] Speaker 6: He missed it. He missed it. Who wasn't in season?
[16:15] Speaker 1: The Knicks did.
[16:15] Speaker 3: The Knicks did. Versus the Spurs.
[16:18] Speaker 1: There was a thumb incident after the game.
[16:20] Speaker 6: Versus the Spurs, too.
[16:22] Speaker 1: I know they played. I just couldn't remember who won.
[16:24] Speaker 1: Is that the first time? So we've seen them NBA
[16:26] Speaker 1: Cup championship.
[16:27] Speaker 4: I think the Spurs is everybody's right. 5-1 in championship setting.
[16:30] Speaker 6: Yeah, so they swept the season. I guess that team.
[16:33] Speaker 6: That ain't a rivalry. Ain't no rivalry. That ain't no rivalry.
[16:35] Speaker 3: They kicking the Spurs ass.
[16:36] Speaker 6: They got the best.
[16:36] Speaker 3: They got the best.
[16:37] Speaker 1: So they got to meet again.
[16:38] Speaker 6: Yeah, they kicking the Spurs ass, man. The Knicks. Bronson
[16:40] Speaker 6: ain't kicking the Spurs. Spurs put belt ass in the Thunder.
[16:43] Speaker 1: The Knicks are putting belt ass.
[16:45] Speaker 6: So it's 2-1 during the regular season with the NBA Cup.
[16:49] Speaker 6: 4-1 doing that. That ain't no rivalry.
[16:51] Speaker 2: And plus, they inflicted the Spurs' worst loss of the
[16:54] Speaker 2: year was that March 1st game at Madison Square Garden.
[16:57] Speaker 2: They beat them by 26. So, they pretty much owned.
[17:00] Speaker 6: Into that 11-game streak? Yeah.
[17:02] Speaker 4: American versus European players are a rivalry.
[17:04] Speaker 6: Yeah, that's not.
[17:05] Speaker 1: America's winning, mister.
[17:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, we take that OKC rivalry.
[17:07] Speaker 6: That seven-game series over here.
[17:09] Speaker 2: Well, good luck to you.
[17:10] Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
[17:11] Speaker 6: That's the rivalry. That's the rivalry because they're in the
[17:12] Speaker 6: same conference. They got a chance to play in the
[17:15] Speaker 6: playoffs multiple times. I'd say. I want them to meet
[17:18] Speaker 6: in the first, second round sometime. That's where it's going
[17:21] Speaker 6: to be shaping up.
[17:22] Speaker 3: Okay.
[17:23] Speaker 6: Early and late.
[17:24] Speaker 2: But obviously, if my second and third best players are
[17:27] Speaker 2: healthy next year, you're done.
[17:29] Speaker 5: How?
[17:30] Speaker 2: What do you mean, how? We took you all the
[17:32] Speaker 2: way to the... I know, but we took you to
[17:34] Speaker 2: the wire in game seven without our second, third best scorer.
[17:37] Speaker 3: Because you had three other players on the floor with you,
[17:40] Speaker 3: the referees.
[17:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, we had one gutless seven-footer on the floor.
[17:45] Speaker 3: That ain't our fault. This is third-team All-NBA.
[17:48] Speaker 2: Maybe he'll grow a pair by next year.
[17:50] Speaker 4: Hey, De'Aaron Fox.
[17:52] Speaker 6: Would you help? He needs to go see the wizard.
[17:54] Speaker 2: He does, it's true.
[17:56] Speaker 6: He needs a heart.
[17:57] Speaker 2: He needs to come and train with you for an offseason.
[18:00] Speaker 6: He needs the lion or what the lion with the cur. Yeah,
[18:02] Speaker 6: he needs a heart. He needs balls. We had De'Aaron
[18:06] Speaker 6: Fox on the floor. He needs to go see the wizard.
[18:08] Speaker 3: I mean, you're going to compare apples and oranges. Come
[18:12] Speaker 3: on now.
[18:13] Speaker 1: So let's take a deeper dive into this Knicks squad.
[18:16] Speaker 1: Knicks went 16-3 overall this postseason, 15-1 in their last
[18:22] Speaker 1: 16 games, including a 13-game winning streak. NBA record, nine
[18:26] Speaker 1: straight road wins, their 14.9-point average margin of victory for
[18:30] Speaker 1: the entire playoffs set an NBA record, won three straight
[18:33] Speaker 1: over the Hawks in the first round after going down 2-1,
[18:37] Speaker 1: swept the Sixers, swept the Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals,
[18:40] Speaker 1: including that game one where they overcame a 22.4-quarter deficit.
[18:44] Speaker 1: Gentlemen swept the Spurs. Their three losses were by a
[18:47] Speaker 1: combined six points this postseason, and their 16 wins were
[18:51] Speaker 1: by a combined 289 points. So a question for you, gentlemen.
[18:55] Speaker 1: Did the Knicks just deliver one of the greatest playoff
[18:57] Speaker 1: runs in NBA history?
[18:59] Speaker 6: Yes. Yes. That's domination. Your losses combined by six points. Yeah.
[19:09] Speaker 6: When you said that, that said all I need to know. Yeah, absolutely.
[19:13] Speaker 6: That's a hell of a run, man. That's a hell
[19:16] Speaker 6: of a run. Your first round, you down 2-1. And
[19:21] Speaker 6: CJ McCollum popped up.
[19:22] Speaker 4: Where does it rank?
[19:23] Speaker 1: What do you think?
[19:24] Speaker 6: Where does it rank?
[19:24] Speaker 4: Yeah. Is it top five?
[19:26] Speaker 6: Because I don't got to really do some research.
[19:30] Speaker 3: The run?
[19:30] Speaker 4: Yeah, the run. Yeah, I mean, you got Dirk's run.
[19:33] Speaker 1: I think tied for the ninth best record all time. But, again,
[19:35] Speaker 1: that 15-1 after that 1-2 start. Yeah, that run there,
[19:37] Speaker 1: 15-1 after the first round, 15-1. All four closeout games.
[19:39] Speaker 1: I'm going to get it.
[19:40] Speaker 6: Lakers win.
[19:40] Speaker 3: That's a hell of a run, though.
[19:41] Speaker 6: The reason why I'm.
[19:50] Speaker 3: Hesitant is because we talked about whoever wins the East
[19:54] Speaker 3: is going to get beat by whoever wins the West.
[19:56] Speaker 3: Who said that? That was a conversation on the couch.
[19:58] Speaker 3: That was a conversation in the community. It was like
[20:01] Speaker 3: the East is not strong enough because we were talking
[20:04] Speaker 3: about Detroit possibly coming out and facing the Knicks and
[20:09] Speaker 3: It was like whoever comes out on the East, they're
[20:11] Speaker 3: not strong enough to beat SGA or Joker or whoever
[20:15] Speaker 3: it was on the West that came out. And nobody
[20:17] Speaker 3: was thinking that the Spurs would be the team that
[20:19] Speaker 3: come out. We was all– I'm not going to say we,
[20:21] Speaker 3: but most people were thinking that OKC would beat the
[20:24] Speaker 3: Spurs and go on and then go beat whoever's on
[20:26] Speaker 3: the East. But that wasn't the case. I mean, 15-1
[20:30] Speaker 3: is very impressive, but you look at the East and
[20:32] Speaker 3: you say, all right, they came back against what team? okay,
[20:37] Speaker 3: who was out there playing, and who was hurt, who
[20:40] Speaker 3: was this, like, them are not excuses, more so than
[20:44] Speaker 3: knowing who you're up against. If the East is weak,
[20:47] Speaker 3: and if that's what we're saying, the East is weak,
[20:50] Speaker 3: and then New York 15-1'd it after having a threat
[20:53] Speaker 3: against Atlanta, it's up in the air, because you look
[20:57] Speaker 3: at the Spurs trajectory and the path they had to take,
[21:00] Speaker 3: you got to go through, who'd they play first round?
[21:03] Speaker 6: Portland.
[21:03] Speaker 1: Portland.
[21:04] Speaker 3: Then the Timberwolves. And then OKC. Like, that's a tougher road.
[21:10] Speaker 5: I heard Timberwolves and I heard OKC.
[21:12] Speaker 3: It's tough. But it's just the team.
[21:14] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah. They were hurt, yeah.
[21:16] Speaker 6: Who was hurt?
[21:16] Speaker 3: Who was hurt?
[21:17] Speaker 4: Minnesota?
[21:18] Speaker 6: Anthony Edwards.
[21:19] Speaker 4: Anthony Edwards. I mean, the whole team.
[21:20] Speaker 3: Did he play?
[21:21] Speaker 6: But he wasn't healthy.
[21:22] Speaker 4: Did he play? Yeah, but who else was out? Nobody.
[21:25] Speaker 6: A.O.
[21:26] Speaker 4: Yeah, they was.
[21:28] Speaker 6: Yeah, they was. Yeah, like.
[21:30] Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the way. That was the easy road for y'all, too. Okay.
[21:33] Speaker 3: So, does everybody have an easy road every year?
[21:36] Speaker 6: There are injuries every year. Every year? Literally won a championship.
[21:39] Speaker 3: I don't want to go back to memory lane. But
[21:41] Speaker 3: y'all's was harder than, yes, the East, for sure.
[21:45] Speaker 6: Or just, I'm just saying prior years. Prior years.
[21:48] Speaker 1: Okay, see, I mean.
[21:50] Speaker 6: Okay, see, defending champs, so that's expected. And.
[21:54] Speaker 7: I mean, but this team, I mean, but these dudes,
[21:58] Speaker 7: this is their first time in the playoffs.
[22:00] Speaker 4: Nobody expected the Spurs to do this.
[22:03] Speaker 3: Come on now, let's be real.
[22:04] Speaker 5: You're going against Wiggins, Dirk, Hockenstein in your starting lineup.
[22:09] Speaker 5: And y'all acting like that's, like, super hard.
[22:12] Speaker 3: What are you talking about? They're going to get it.
[22:13] Speaker 3: They had one player.
[22:15] Speaker 4: Literally, Shea.
[22:17] Speaker 6: One player.
[22:18] Speaker 3: Literally one player on that team. What are you talking about?
[22:21] Speaker 4: The Spurs.
[22:21] Speaker 3: You're saying that was hard.
[22:22] Speaker 6: And y'all went.
[22:23] Speaker 5: to a seven game seven with just Shea. Dirk was
[22:27] Speaker 5: nowhere around. Bro, did you watch the game?
[22:32] Speaker 6: Yes, did you? What are you talking?
[22:33] Speaker 4: They had a team.
[22:35] Speaker 3: They had the whole team except for who? Who didn't play?
[22:38] Speaker 4: Jalen Williams. Jalen Williams.
[22:40] Speaker 3: Why not? AJ Mitchell got hurt in that series.
[22:44] Speaker 2: That was game two.
[22:45] Speaker 3: That series. He played the rest of the playoff.
[22:47] Speaker 4: He played the other game.
[22:49] Speaker 6: They won five more games. He played games prior to that.
[22:51] Speaker 6: If he got hurt in game two, they played five
[22:53] Speaker 6: more games in that series.
[22:54] Speaker 4: They did.
[22:54] Speaker 3: Hey, unfortunate for him.
[22:56] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[22:56] Speaker 3: Fortunate for him. People get hurt.
[22:58] Speaker 6: For them, the team.
[22:59] Speaker 3: And things happen, but you still got the rest of
[23:02] Speaker 3: your team.
[23:03] Speaker 4: It's okay.
[23:03] Speaker 7: We can say both sides then were weak then.
[23:06] Speaker 3: I'm not going to say that the West was weak
[23:08] Speaker 3: because anybody could have came out of the West.
[23:11] Speaker 6: And anybody could have came out of the East.
[23:13] Speaker 3: Obviously not if you're 15-1. How could anybody come out
[23:17] Speaker 3: of the East if you're 15-1?
[23:18] Speaker 6: Because you got to play the games. That's how anybody
[23:21] Speaker 6: can come out of the East. You got to play
[23:22] Speaker 6: the games. It wasn't a foregone conclusion.
[23:26] Speaker 3: How many seven-game series was in the East? I'm Who cares?
[23:31] Speaker 3: We're having a conversation.
[23:33] Speaker 6: But I'm saying, who cares? Who cares? Because there were
[23:38] Speaker 6: multiple seven-game series on the West.
[23:40] Speaker 5: They did the spread like they did everybody else, though.
[23:43] Speaker 6: Like, the Knicks had the opportunity to go seven, but
[23:45] Speaker 6: they were better than them teams. They swept them. And
[23:48] Speaker 6: then they swept the spread. There were seven-game schedules. They
[23:50] Speaker 6: just didn't need them.
[23:52] Speaker 5: Right?
[23:53] Speaker 6: All them games, they're scheduled for seven games. They just
[23:57] Speaker 6: didn't need them.
[23:57] Speaker 4: Pistons and Magic went seven.
[23:59] Speaker 3: That's all.
[24:00] Speaker 6: Cavs and Raptors.
[24:01] Speaker 4: Cavs and Raptors went seven.
[24:03] Speaker 1: Sixers and.
[24:04] Speaker 3: Boston went seven.
[24:05] Speaker 6: Boston went seven. But they all could have.
[24:08] Speaker 4: Pistons and Cavs went seven.
[24:10] Speaker 6: Could have, but.
[24:11] Speaker 3: So, we had three. What about on the West?
[24:15] Speaker 1: So, there was three seven-game series on the West. I
[24:17] Speaker 1: don't believe there was any... In the East, excuse me,
[24:19] Speaker 1: there wasn't any on the West in the first round.
[24:21] Speaker 3: None in the first round.
[24:22] Speaker 1: Conference semis, you had Detroit and Cleveland that went seven.
[24:25] Speaker 1: No games on the West went seven in the second round.
[24:28] Speaker 1: And then, obviously, conference finals... So just one.
[24:30] Speaker 4: That's only one game.
[24:31] Speaker 3: So there's only one series. None of the series was
[24:35] Speaker 3: the Knicks. The Knicks didn't go seven with nobody.
[24:37] Speaker 6: No, they whooped ass. They put foot to ass.
[24:39] Speaker 1: They went six with the Hawks in the first round. Swept, swept.
[24:41] Speaker 4: Gentlemen swept.
[24:42] Speaker 6: Yeah. It was scheduled. There were games on there. Yeah,
[24:47] Speaker 6: there was games. If necessary. They put it in parentheses.
[24:51] Speaker 6: It says, if necessary. They weren't necessary.
[24:56] Speaker 2: Which is why. I'm going to make the case that
[24:59] Speaker 2: the Knicks run was the greatest playoff run ever.
[25:02] Speaker 4: Whoa.
[25:03] Speaker 5: Ever.
[25:04] Speaker 2: And I'm going to start with the fact that the
[25:07] Speaker 2: Knicks were the third biggest long shot to win it
[25:10] Speaker 2: all in the last 50 years. They went in 17-1
[25:15] Speaker 2: odds to win it all, 17-1. It's a long shot.
[25:20] Speaker 2: And the candidates that you could say are above them
[25:23] Speaker 2: are the Warriors in 2017 because they went 16-1 overall.
[25:27] Speaker 2: And then you got the Shaq-Kobe Lakers of 01 who
[25:30] Speaker 2: went 15-1 overall versus 16-3 for these Knicks. But when
[25:38] Speaker 2: I look at the 2017 Warriors and obviously the 01 Lakers,
[25:43] Speaker 2: they were prohibitively favored to win it all. Like it
[25:46] Speaker 2: was over before it started because it was Shaq and
[25:50] Speaker 2: Kobe and Derek Fisher and Rick Fox and Robert Ory
[25:54] Speaker 2: and Ron Harper was on that team, and Brian Shaw.
[26:00] Speaker 2: They were just loaded, and they were going to win
[26:02] Speaker 2: it all. And the 2017 Warriors obviously had added this
[26:10] Speaker 2: 7-foot jump shooter from Oklahoma City who just changed it all.
[26:13] Speaker 2: So now you've got Kevin Durant joining forces with those guys.
[26:17] Speaker 2: So prohibitively favored. And yet these Knicks, in point differential...
[26:25] Speaker 2: they were plus 283 through their whole 16-3 run. And
[26:30] Speaker 2: that shattered the record of the 2017 Warriors, who were
[26:35] Speaker 2: overall plus 250. So it beat it by, I'm sorry, 230.
[26:40] Speaker 2: So it beat it by 53 points overall. So they're
[26:43] Speaker 2: going through the East, and I think we all agree
[26:46] Speaker 2: the East was weaker than the West, for sure. I mean,
[26:50] Speaker 2: you could say it's laughably weaker. But When you look
[26:53] Speaker 2: at those three closeout games in the East on their path,
[26:58] Speaker 2: they're all on the road, and they average winning all
[27:01] Speaker 2: three of them by 39 points a night. Well, that's
[27:04] Speaker 2: ridiculously dominant. And it is pro basketball. I mean, they
[27:10] Speaker 2: do have players who are getting paid, right? And then
[27:15] Speaker 2: they get to the, well, let's just do the Lakers.
[27:20] Speaker 2: They shattered, or didn't shatter, but they broke. the Lakers'
[27:24] Speaker 2: record for winning eight straight road playoff games. They won
[27:27] Speaker 2: nine in a row on the road. And the ninth
[27:31] Speaker 2: was a closeout game in San Antonio against the heavily
[27:35] Speaker 2: favored Spurs. And that was the third time they beat
[27:40] Speaker 2: the Spurs in their house. In the NBA Finals, you
[27:45] Speaker 2: did that? You went and won three times at their
[27:48] Speaker 2: place as Spurs as prohibitive underdogs.
[27:52] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[27:52] Speaker 2: That's pretty great to me, given the degree of difficulty.
[27:57] Speaker 2: I don't know what's not to love about all that.
[28:01] Speaker 2: They just kept doing it and doing it. When they
[28:03] Speaker 2: got on their rampage roll, and then they did it
[28:07] Speaker 2: both ways. They did it dominating, and then they did
[28:10] Speaker 2: it five straight times where they fell behind by 10
[28:13] Speaker 2: or more points, and one night they fell behind by
[28:15] Speaker 2: 29 points, and they said, watch this.
[28:19] Speaker 4: I don't know.
[28:20] Speaker 2: As far as a run goes, how can you get
[28:23] Speaker 2: any greater than that as an underdog, right? It's almost
[28:31] Speaker 2: like fairytale-ish, where you just say, that's impossible how they
[28:36] Speaker 2: did it. But they left no doubt, did they?
[28:39] Speaker 4: I mean.
[28:41] Speaker 7: I mean, they were able to do it because the
[28:42] Speaker 7: team they played against was young and inexperienced.
[28:45] Speaker 2: Okay, but they did have the one player that was
[28:48] Speaker 2: supposed to be way better than anybody.
[28:50] Speaker 1: How can you say the East had the greatest defensive
[28:53] Speaker 1: season in NBA history according to the square meter?
[28:55] Speaker 5: Well, how can you say the East was like super
[28:59] Speaker 5: weak and they did what they did to the Spurs,
[29:01] Speaker 5: to the West?
[29:02] Speaker 4: Because Boston wasn't who they were.
[29:04] Speaker 5: But they beat the top team in the West 4-1.
[29:06] Speaker 6: Yep.
[29:08] Speaker 4: They beat the top team in the West.
[29:10] Speaker 5: Spurs is the top team.
[29:12] Speaker 3: In the West.
[29:12] Speaker 4: I mean, yeah, they came. I mean, they wouldn't. OKC.
[29:15] Speaker 5: They did the same thing to everybody, though. But you
[29:18] Speaker 5: can't say. That's why I don't get how you say the.
[29:20] Speaker 5: I can see if it went seven in the finals,
[29:22] Speaker 5: but they did the same thing they did to everybody
[29:24] Speaker 5: in the East, to the Spurs, to the top team
[29:27] Speaker 5: in the West.
[29:28] Speaker 3: But does injuries matter? Because y'all say injuries matter one moment,
[29:32] Speaker 3: and then you say it don't matter the next moment.
[29:35] Speaker 2: Were the Spurs not healthy?
[29:36] Speaker 3: No, I'm talking about what Brandon was just saying about
[29:39] Speaker 3: you got... Philly, you got all the other teams on
[29:43] Speaker 3: the East that were going through injury problems, and they
[29:45] Speaker 3: didn't have their full rosters and so on and so forth.
[29:48] Speaker 3: But New York gets there because you will yourself to win.
[29:52] Speaker 3: You find a way to win. You find a way
[29:54] Speaker 3: to win.
[29:54] Speaker 1: Same thing in the West, too, though.
[29:56] Speaker 3: But you look at the West, and you look at
[29:58] Speaker 3: the teams that we look at to be– going to
[30:00] Speaker 3: the finals from the Nuggets to the T-Wolves to the
[30:04] Speaker 3: Houston Rockets to saying, all right, we're expecting these teams
[30:08] Speaker 3: to at least face each other and make it a
[30:10] Speaker 3: good playoffs. So the Spurs beat the Blazers. We kind
[30:15] Speaker 3: of figured that. Then you look at the T-Wolves and
[30:18] Speaker 3: the Nuggets. I personally didn't think that it was going
[30:22] Speaker 3: to end up being a T-Wolves beating the Nuggets the
[30:26] Speaker 3: way that it was being promoted. So the Nuggets lose
[30:29] Speaker 3: to them. Were they healthy? The Nuggets seemed, were they
[30:33] Speaker 3: healthy or not? Yeah, they're healthy, pretty healthy. So it's
[30:37] Speaker 3: like they win, and then OKC played who in the
[30:39] Speaker 3: first round?
[30:40] Speaker 1: OKC played Phoenix.
[30:41] Speaker 3: Phoenix in the first round, and then the Lakers.
[30:43] Speaker 6: Lakers without Luka.
[30:45] Speaker 3: Lakers, no Luka, but halfway. Halfway Austin Reeves.
[30:50] Speaker 1: But they did whoop the Lakers' ass all season.
[30:52] Speaker 3: Just say that then. Ant-Man was half.
[30:55] Speaker 6: He wasn't.
[30:56] Speaker 3: They beat the Nuggets with no Ant-Man, remember? Who beat
[30:58] Speaker 3: the Nuggets? Oh, Timmy was.
[31:00] Speaker 5: Remember?
[31:00] Speaker 3: Ant-Man was out. So think about the injury. Like, we're
[31:05] Speaker 3: not going to use the injuries as a reason why
[31:07] Speaker 3: teams shouldn't win. Like, you play with who you got.
[31:10] Speaker 3: Then they lost. Ant-Man came back. He played hurt. You
[31:14] Speaker 3: lost anyway. SGA, he playing without A.J. Mitchell. He playing
[31:17] Speaker 3: without Jalen Williams. You still got to play. Chet, step up.
[31:21] Speaker 3: All the other guys, step up. Like, all right, you
[31:23] Speaker 3: don't step up.
[31:24] Speaker 6: Step back.
[31:25] Speaker 4: Boston Celtics chemistry all over the place.
[31:27] Speaker 2: Like, They didn't have Tatum for the.
[31:29] Speaker 3: But then you look at the Spurs, De'Aaron Fox, Dylan
[31:35] Speaker 3: Harper got hurt and went down, XYZ. That's one thing.
[31:39] Speaker 3: But SGA, he had his guys but didn't have his guys.
[31:42] Speaker 3: But you know who had all his guys.
[31:44] Speaker 5: The whole time?
[31:45] Speaker 3: Jalen Brunson. Jalen Brunson. Healthy Knicks squad.
[31:50] Speaker 2: Except for Mitchell Robson busted his hand and didn't.
[31:53] Speaker 6: And he played anyway. He played anyway.
[31:54] Speaker 2: Well, he can't shoot anyway, so it didn't matter.
[31:56] Speaker 6: Did OG Ananobi mess up his hamstring?
[31:59] Speaker 1: He did? Yeah, some hamstring issues earlier in the playoffs.
[32:03] Speaker 3: Was it the Hawks series, I think?
[32:07] Speaker 2: I think it was, going into the next series.
[32:10] Speaker 3: Yeah. They ended up coming back strong. So, I mean,
[32:17] Speaker 3: guys are going to be hurt, but you're going to win.
[32:19] Speaker 3: You've got to win, I think.
[32:20] Speaker 4: So you say it's the greatest.
[32:20] Speaker 1: The OG only played two games against the Sixers. I mean,
[32:22] Speaker 1: I don't know how– we had talked about that.
[32:24] Speaker 2: What's wrong with it? Like, how can you– What can
[32:28] Speaker 2: you nitpick on it? What can you, I don't know.
[32:31] Speaker 6: The greatest?
[32:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, the greatest playoff run. Once they flip the switch
[32:36] Speaker 2: against the Hawks, flip the script.
[32:38] Speaker 3: You have to have something to compare it to.
[32:41] Speaker 2: Well, I got on just pure one loss. It's the
[32:46] Speaker 2: 2017 Warriors and the 2001 Lakers. That's what you compare
[32:49] Speaker 2: it to.
[32:50] Speaker 3: Are you saying because it's the underdog story.
[32:54] Speaker 2: And because they shattered records of those teams, what they
[32:58] Speaker 2: did with point differential and road playoff wins.
[33:02] Speaker 6: I can see it.
[33:03] Speaker 3: I mean, it's pretty. I can see that.
[33:05] Speaker 6: I can't argue that.
[33:06] Speaker 2: It's just hard to argue against it. And I'm trying
[33:09] Speaker 2: because I have a rivalry with Stephen A. Smith, and
[33:13] Speaker 2: he confided to me the other night. He said, I
[33:16] Speaker 2: was just living in fear that your Cowboys are going
[33:19] Speaker 2: to break through and win again before my Knicks won again.
[33:21] Speaker 3: Okay, that's what it is. Yeah. Do you think that
[33:24] Speaker 3: the Spurs match up to the Cavs as the Cavs
[33:29] Speaker 3: were the opponent for the Warriors? Do you think that
[33:32] Speaker 3: that team is similar in firepower?
[33:36] Speaker 2: Now Spurs.
[33:37] Speaker 3: This Spurs in that 17 Cavaliers team with LeBron, K-Love,
[33:43] Speaker 3: and all them, comparing those two as far as the
[33:45] Speaker 3: Knicks and Warriors, comparing their opponents to making it magical.
[33:51] Speaker 2: Oh, I see what you mean.
[33:53] Speaker 3: The Cleveland Cavaliers was better?
[33:55] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[33:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, too. So, like, the greatest,
[34:00] Speaker 3: it's like I feel like the Warriors had to beat
[34:03] Speaker 3: a better team to continue to run as a favorite
[34:06] Speaker 3: and to get over that hump. They had to beat
[34:08] Speaker 3: a better team. And then we look at the injuries
[34:11] Speaker 3: that happened to that team that forced that back-to-back thing
[34:14] Speaker 3: to happen. Whatever they want to use to say Kyrie
[34:17] Speaker 3: was down, K-Love was down, whatever. Like, those are things.
[34:21] Speaker 5: So.
[34:22] Speaker 3: We're matching up the greatest. I still, I would give
[34:25] Speaker 3: the Warriors still a favorite over that.
[34:27] Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm going to give it to the Warriors. I
[34:29] Speaker 7: just feel like the Spurs, they're young and they're not experienced.
[34:32] Speaker 7: So it's like that's, the coach wasn't experienced. First time,
[34:36] Speaker 7: it's just, I put, I don't know, I'm going to
[34:39] Speaker 7: put a lot on that one.
[34:39] Speaker 6: But the teams before they got to them as well, though.
[34:42] Speaker 7: I know, but that's why I think they were the underdogs, though.
[34:46] Speaker 4: But that's why I think the Spurs were the underdogs.
[34:48] Speaker 4: As much as, We were going for the teams.
[34:49] Speaker 7: The Spurs, to me, because they went from not making
[34:52] Speaker 7: the playoffs to making the playoffs second place to going
[34:55] Speaker 7: to the finals.
[34:56] Speaker 4: Who thought that was coming? Nobody thought that was coming.
[34:59] Speaker 4: I did, too.
[34:59] Speaker 2: I thought they were going to be really good.
[35:02] Speaker 4: They got Eden Fox. We did not.
[35:03] Speaker 3: When we talk about Cleveland, though, you think about the
[35:05] Speaker 3: Cleveland team. These are two experienced teams that matched up
[35:10] Speaker 3: in the finals.
[35:11] Speaker 2: Quick point of order. Back me up on this, Josiah.
[35:13] Speaker 2: Game one. 2017 at Oracle, LeBron broke his hand after
[35:18] Speaker 2: the game.
[35:19] Speaker 3: Quote, unquote.
[35:20] Speaker 1: On the wall. Quote, unquote, Skip. You saw the cast.
[35:22] Speaker 3: Quote, unquote.
[35:23] Speaker 5: Remember?
[35:23] Speaker 6: Couldn't even dap up.
[35:25] Speaker 2: He wears a cast to the post-game interview after game four, right?
[35:29] Speaker 2: After they're swept.
[35:30] Speaker 5: Oh, that's good. That was my year.
[35:32] Speaker 2: Right? Okay, so you got an injury factor there.
[35:35] Speaker 5: Didn't want to make it about it. Hey, LeBron had
[35:37] Speaker 5: 50 game one. Then J.R. did that six. It was
[35:42] Speaker 5: a tough one. Well, LeBron had- He knew he was
[35:44] Speaker 5: going to win, but.
[35:46] Speaker 2: LeBron had a shot to win the game and passed
[35:48] Speaker 2: it to George Hill.
[35:50] Speaker 1: I don't- He was dunking on that. The usually reliable
[35:52] Speaker 1: George Hill.
[35:53] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[35:54] Speaker 5: I think the Spurs could have got him back in
[35:56] Speaker 5: the day, though, if Kawhi didn't get hurt.
[35:59] Speaker 2: Which series?
[36:01] Speaker 5: The year, the first year KD got there.
[36:03] Speaker 6: Okay.
[36:04] Speaker 4: But could we say they broke all those records?
[36:06] Speaker 2: Well, that was when- When Zaza did the- He did, yeah.
[36:08] Speaker 6: That's the rule.
[36:09] Speaker 3: Because they was winning.
[36:10] Speaker 2: It was the Zaza rule.
[36:11] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[36:11] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[36:12] Speaker 7: But we say they broke all those records because the
[36:15] Speaker 7: Warriors was blowing teams out.
[36:17] Speaker 4: And they didn't have to play in the fourth quarter
[36:18] Speaker 4: a lot.
[36:18] Speaker 6: Then their point differential would have been greater then.
[36:22] Speaker 3: If it would have been closer games?
[36:24] Speaker 6: You said it was blowing them out, right? The Warriors
[36:26] Speaker 6: was blowing people out?
[36:27] Speaker 4: Right, because Stephan. But then to me.
[36:30] Speaker 6: Point differential would have been greater than this Knicks team.
[36:37] Speaker 6: You see what I'm saying?
[36:38] Speaker 1: Okay.
[36:40] Speaker 5: Okay.
[36:40] Speaker 6: So they broke their record. So this Knicks team has
[36:43] Speaker 6: the all-time point differential. So whatever the Warriors was doing
[36:48] Speaker 6: in 17, the Knicks outdid them this postseason. And as
[36:51] Speaker 6: far as that stat.
[36:52] Speaker 2: By a ton. By 53 points.
[36:54] Speaker 5: The Houston series.
[36:56] Speaker 3: We were seven. Oh, okay, okay, okay. We blew everybody
[37:00] Speaker 3: else out.
[37:00] Speaker 5: We blew forward, forward, and then seven.
[37:02] Speaker 3: So you was there. So you was there. So you know.
[37:05] Speaker 3: Was the West tougher? Then you look back. It was
[37:09] Speaker 3: just Houston. Just Houston. Who else was in the playoffs?
[37:13] Speaker 3: Who else did y'all play?
[37:13] Speaker 5: We played New Orleans, the Spurs, and Houston.
[37:16] Speaker 4: Portland was good too, right, with Dane?
[37:19] Speaker 6: That was the year after me.
[37:20] Speaker 3: After you, okay.
[37:23] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[37:23] Speaker 5: That's when they lost to Toronto. Remember they went to 19.
[37:27] Speaker 4: Yeah, with no KD. Clay got hurt. That's when Clay
[37:31] Speaker 4: got hurt.
[37:32] Speaker 6: Clay got hurt, KD got hurt.
[37:34] Speaker 2: But weren't you– as I recall, the Spurs were up
[37:36] Speaker 2: on you in game one pretty– Like maybe by 18
[37:40] Speaker 2: or 20 or so?
[37:41] Speaker 5: That was the year with Zaza. I wasn't there that year.
[37:45] Speaker 2: Okay, okay, you weren't there.
[37:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, Zaza did that dirty.
[37:47] Speaker 5: Yeah, so the Spurs was.
[37:49] Speaker 2: Oh, that's 2018?
[37:50] Speaker 5: No Kawhi, just Spurs.
[37:53] Speaker 4: They was about to get them out of there.
[37:54] Speaker 5: They was about to get them out of there.
[37:56] Speaker 4: They was about to get y'all out of there. Kawhi
[37:58] Speaker 4: was about to get y'all out of there.
[38:00] Speaker 3: For sure. Comparing the West back then and the East today,
[38:07] Speaker 3: would it be... Which one is the hardest? Because we're
[38:09] Speaker 3: talking about point differential. The point differential between y'all run
[38:13] Speaker 3: and then the Knicks run. So, he's saying, like, the
[38:17] Speaker 3: Knicks run. Was it an easier run for the point
[38:20] Speaker 3: differential to even?
[38:21] Speaker 1: Knicks averaged 14.9. That Warriors squad, I think, was 13.5. So, obviously,
[38:26] Speaker 1: Knicks had two more games than the Warriors in that postseason. So,
[38:28] Speaker 1: the total number is going to be a little different.
[38:30] Speaker 6: Yeah, but I just, I don't, because you got to
[38:32] Speaker 6: play the games, man.
[38:33] Speaker 3: Like.
[38:33] Speaker 6: I don't know, East was weak, West was weak. It's
[38:36] Speaker 6: a playoff team, right? It's a playoff team that deserved
[38:42] Speaker 6: to be there. And the team's out there whooping y'all ass.
[38:47] Speaker 6: So this is what it is. So I don't care
[38:50] Speaker 6: if the East was weaker back then or the West
[38:53] Speaker 6: was weaker now or vice versa. It doesn't matter. They're
[38:55] Speaker 6: a playoff team. And the point differential is what it is.
[38:59] Speaker 6: You put that uniform on, they whooped y'all ass. then,
[39:03] Speaker 6: and the Knicks whooped ass this year.
[39:07] Speaker 1: Let's dive deeper into these Knicks. Knicks finished third in
[39:09] Speaker 1: the East this season with a record of 53-29. Won
[39:11] Speaker 1: the NBA Cup back in December on their third title
[39:15] Speaker 1: in franchise history, but first in 53 years. Knicks' eighth
[39:19] Speaker 1: different team to win the chip in the last eight seasons.
[39:22] Speaker 1: In that span, four teams from the East, four teams
[39:24] Speaker 1: from the West have hoisted the Larry O'Brien trophy, but
[39:26] Speaker 1: no team has returned to the finals in the following year.
[39:29] Speaker 1: So let's take a look at the odds right now
[39:33] Speaker 1: for them to come back. Underdog has the Knicks as
[39:34] Speaker 1: the third favorite to win the title next season behind
[39:37] Speaker 1: the Thunder and Spurs. This is a conversation we had
[39:40] Speaker 1: before the Knicks won the championship. Now it's a conversation
[39:42] Speaker 1: we need to have after the Knicks have won the championship. Kane,
[39:44] Speaker 1: we'll start with you. Should the Knicks run it back
[39:47] Speaker 1: with the core? or try to change the roster for
[39:50] Speaker 1: next season?
[39:51] Speaker 6: I'm glad this is up here. And I said, I
[39:53] Speaker 6: guarantee if they win it, they won't be the favorite
[39:56] Speaker 6: next year.
[39:56] Speaker 2: You did say that.
[39:57] Speaker 6: Like, they won't be the favorite. And this says what
[40:00] Speaker 6: my thought process is. It's been no team has repeated
[40:04] Speaker 6: in the last eight years because they remain the same.
[40:09] Speaker 6: They lose pieces. Other people get paid in other places.
[40:15] Speaker 6: You got to tweak your roster a little bit. Other
[40:17] Speaker 6: teams are shooting for what you just did. Other teams
[40:21] Speaker 6: are getting better. The playoff teams from this year think
[40:24] Speaker 6: they got a chance for next year. Some teams that
[40:26] Speaker 6: were close next year think they can make the playoffs
[40:28] Speaker 6: next year. And if you remain stagnant, your chances are
[40:33] Speaker 6: repeating or slim. You might get back to the playoffs.
[40:37] Speaker 6: You might get back to the Western Conference Finals, but
[40:39] Speaker 6: good luck. And for the odds to be this right now,
[40:44] Speaker 6: After they just won it, I think you should upgrade.
[40:48] Speaker 6: If you have an opportunity to, to upgrade your roster,
[40:53] Speaker 6: I don't see why it should stop because you won.
[40:57] Speaker 6: Other teams are gunning for you, so you have to
[41:01] Speaker 6: get better. You can't have that championship hangover. All those
[41:06] Speaker 6: things are real, so we've seen it. The Warriors came
[41:11] Speaker 6: out this year, this past season, came out the gates hot, 24-1,
[41:15] Speaker 6: which a lot of teams don't do after winning. It's
[41:18] Speaker 6: a championship hangover. I mean the Thunder. They came out 24-1,
[41:23] Speaker 6: my bad. They came out 24-1 hot out the gate.
[41:26] Speaker 6: That normally don't happen because of the championship hangover. If
[41:31] Speaker 6: you have an opportunity to upgrade your roster, I'm all
[41:35] Speaker 6: for it after winning it. And we talked about the
[41:39] Speaker 6: Knicks winning. maybe adding Giannis. If that's a possibility, why
[41:43] Speaker 6: wouldn't it? And people think I'm crazy for it.
[41:48] Speaker 1: But you got the Thunder and Spurs. Thunder are going
[41:50] Speaker 1: to have some off-season decisions to make. They're going to
[41:52] Speaker 1: be well over the second apron if they keep this
[41:54] Speaker 1: roster intact as is. Obviously, they have a ton of
[41:56] Speaker 1: draft capital, a ton of moves they can make, two
[41:57] Speaker 1: first-round picks this upcoming draft. Spurs could potentially run this back,
[42:02] Speaker 1: but you got now issue Dylan Harper, Darren.
[42:04] Speaker 6: Fox, who you want to give the key to. All
[42:06] Speaker 6: teams got decisions to make, right? Those three teams especially
[42:09] Speaker 6: have decisions to make. for different reasons. The Thunder is financial.
[42:15] Speaker 6: The Spurs are. They got a young guy and an
[42:18] Speaker 6: older guy they got to make a decision about. And
[42:21] Speaker 6: the Knicks are, do we stay here or do we
[42:24] Speaker 6: try to make a move to try to get our
[42:25] Speaker 6: roster better? So I think they all have decisions to make.
[42:28] Speaker 6: It just comes in a different package.
[42:32] Speaker 2: Do you feel as strongly about Giannis today as you
[42:35] Speaker 2: did a week ago?
[42:36] Speaker 6: Absolutely.
[42:37] Speaker 4: Okay.
[42:37] Speaker 5: Absolutely.
[42:38] Speaker 6: Like I said, win or lose.
[42:39] Speaker 2: You said it.
[42:40] Speaker 6: Win or lose, I think the Knicks, if you have
[42:43] Speaker 6: an opportunity, if Giannis is on the table, and we
[42:47] Speaker 6: have to give up Cat and maybe Josh Hart or
[42:51] Speaker 6: one of them, I'm making that move.
[42:54] Speaker 5: See, I don't make a tragic change like that.
[42:57] Speaker 6: No, I'm saying, if I, I will explore it, man. Like,
[43:01] Speaker 6: I don't see why not. Another number Nick came in? No,
[43:04] Speaker 6: I'm just saying, if it's the opportunity to, we explore it.
[43:08] Speaker 6: That's it. Hmm. We see what it looks like.
[43:11] Speaker 2: If you're the Knicks, how concerned would you be that
[43:14] Speaker 2: most of the reporting right now is Giannis to the Celtics?
[43:19] Speaker 2: Would that change the balance of power in the East?
[43:22] Speaker 2: Would that concern you?
[43:23] Speaker 6: Absolutely. Well, you're losing Jalen Brown. You're losing Jalen. It
[43:28] Speaker 6: ain't like they're going to keep three of them. It's
[43:29] Speaker 6: Tatum and Young.
[43:30] Speaker 4: You're a whole new team.
[43:32] Speaker 6: Financially, you physically can't do that. You want him out
[43:38] Speaker 6: of the East. If he's not going to you, you
[43:41] Speaker 6: want him out of the East. But I just look
[43:46] Speaker 6: at Giannis, what he brings to the table, how he
[43:48] Speaker 6: approaches it. Like I stated before, no matter what team
[43:52] Speaker 6: is fortunate enough to acquire his services next year, it'll
[43:57] Speaker 6: be a benefit to their roster, right? No matter who
[44:00] Speaker 6: it is. Because you know the way he's going to
[44:02] Speaker 6: approach you, you know the way he plays. And if
[44:04] Speaker 6: I'm the Knicks, I do explore it. If I don't
[44:07] Speaker 6: have to give up Josh Hart and McHale, I don't
[44:10] Speaker 6: want to, trust me, because of what he brings to
[44:13] Speaker 6: the table. But we saw that they didn't want to
[44:16] Speaker 6: give up Dante DiVincenzo and You see the way it
[44:18] Speaker 6: turned out is. That's all I'm saying.
[44:21] Speaker 3: I want to go back to the other champions before, right?
[44:24] Speaker 3: The teams that we talked about that didn't make changes
[44:27] Speaker 3: in the last eight years. So I'll go back to
[44:29] Speaker 3: the Boston Celtics. After they won, they made changes, correct?
[44:32] Speaker 1: They tried to run it back with that main quarterback.
[44:34] Speaker 1: They brought back like eight or nine in that core
[44:36] Speaker 1: roster for that.
[44:37] Speaker 3: Was that Krasingas came back?
[44:39] Speaker 6: Top nine. All of them came back, right?
[44:41] Speaker 1: And they ended up obviously losing to the Knicks, I believe.
[44:43] Speaker 3: Knicks, 4-2. And then Denver. didn't make any changes.
[44:50] Speaker 6: Bruce Brown left, KCP left.
[44:53] Speaker 3: Milwaukee, they didn't make any changes. When we talk about
[44:58] Speaker 3: just upgrading, you lost, you lost.
[45:00] Speaker 6: Because you're going to lose pieces because they're going to
[45:02] Speaker 6: get paid because you lost. So you need pieces to replace.
[45:06] Speaker 3: You need little pieces. Right, little small. So that's why
[45:09] Speaker 3: I'm like, When you say Knicks and you say Giannis,
[45:13] Speaker 3: I don't agree with it because you already got a
[45:16] Speaker 3: core chemistry and your upgrade don't have to be replacing
[45:20] Speaker 3: the one guy who bought in to the chemistry. It
[45:23] Speaker 3: should be, let's go to free agent and see if
[45:25] Speaker 3: we can... shamit um.
[45:28] Speaker 8: Alvarado clark clarkson they was cool but they played instrumental
[45:34] Speaker 8: parts down the line and we're like all right og
[45:38] Speaker 8: if he can stay healthy we may not need to
[45:40] Speaker 8: replace a guy like that bridges heart these are the core.
[45:43] Speaker 3: It's the core of new york but if you can
[45:46] Speaker 3: bring in another guy bring that that can do multiple
[45:51] Speaker 3: things in 3-2, 3-4. I ain't going to say like
[45:56] Speaker 3: a Pascal Siakam type guy.
[45:58] Speaker 6: Where is he going to play though? That's what I
[46:00] Speaker 6: want to know. They play free. Not with them dudes,
[46:02] Speaker 6: but not when you got those dudes.
[46:04] Speaker 7: Listen, they need another ball handler and they need some
[46:06] Speaker 7: deadly shooters. That's all they need right now. But they
[46:09] Speaker 7: still got McBride. McBride can handle. No, he got to go.
[46:12] Speaker 6: No, no.
[46:12] Speaker 7: I'm saying you can go get some deadly shooters, another
[46:15] Speaker 7: ball handler to take the pressure off Brunson.
[46:18] Speaker 4: You're already over the apron, so you can't really do
[46:20] Speaker 4: too much.
[46:21] Speaker 7: Cat has already proven that if you run the offense
[46:25] Speaker 7: through him, you already got your megastar.
[46:26] Speaker 4: With Jalen Brunson. So let's just run it back right here.
[46:30] Speaker 6: Mitchell Robinson is cool.
[46:31] Speaker 5: You don't need to get rid of him.
[46:35] Speaker 4: Those numbers right there don't worry me.
[46:37] Speaker 1: Same with the bread situation. That gets a little bit tricky.
[46:39] Speaker 1: So you got Mitchell Robinson, free agent. Well, I go
[46:42] Speaker 1: back to the Thunder. My point I wanted to make
[46:44] Speaker 1: was about the Thunder. Like the Thunder didn't make those upgrades,
[46:48] Speaker 1: but they went 25-2 to start the season.
[46:51] Speaker 3: So you look at the camaraderie and the chemistry they
[46:54] Speaker 3: had going into the season, they look like clear frontrunners
[46:58] Speaker 3: will be like, yo, they just got it, right? But
[47:00] Speaker 3: for me, I came into the season knowing and seeing it.
[47:03] Speaker 3: Like y'all don't got what people are missing. Like y'all
[47:08] Speaker 3: are missing the upgraded piece that when you guys took
[47:11] Speaker 3: it over the edge, it was because of injuries, right?
[47:14] Speaker 6: But you still did it.
[47:16] Speaker 3: But the things you need for the teams that upgraded
[47:19] Speaker 3: and got new pieces, you didn't do those things.
[47:22] Speaker 1: A.J.
[47:22] Speaker 3: Mitchell was a safe haven because you didn't expect him to.
[47:26] Speaker 6: Be what he became.
[47:27] Speaker 2: But he became the upgrade.
[47:29] Speaker 6: He did.
[47:30] Speaker 3: But you didn't go get him to say, we're going
[47:32] Speaker 3: to bring you in to do this. He was a
[47:34] Speaker 3: surprise based on Jalen Williams going down.
[47:36] Speaker 2: And Jared McCain was a little bit of an upgrade.
[47:39] Speaker 3: That was the upgrade that got you back to the
[47:42] Speaker 3: conference finals.
[47:43] Speaker 6: But, again, that wasn't something you went and got.
[47:46] Speaker 3: That was Philly's stupid ass saying, we don't want you.
[47:48] Speaker 3: But it's all right, though. We still got it, though. So,
[47:51] Speaker 3: it didn't take you over the top.
[47:52] Speaker 6: And it didn't get you back to back.
[47:54] Speaker 3: Because they got hurt.
[47:54] Speaker 4: Because they got.
[47:55] Speaker 3: Ain't got nothing to do with that.
[47:58] Speaker 6: Look where they at, though.
[48:00] Speaker 3: And that's the, to me, fool's goal. Because if you
[48:03] Speaker 3: haven't upgraded and you lost to the Spurs, a team
[48:06] Speaker 3: that hasn't been to the fucking playoffs, and you haven't...
[48:10] Speaker 3: You're not even going to... Upgrade again? How are you
[48:13] Speaker 3: going to be the favorites?
[48:14] Speaker 4: They did upgrade.
[48:15] Speaker 6: So with the.
[48:17] Speaker 3: I hear you.
[48:20] Speaker 6: With Cat scoring two points, right?
[48:22] Speaker 1: Okay.
[48:23] Speaker 6: Two points, 10 rebounds in game five. You don't still don't... No. No,
[48:32] Speaker 6: we still went five and one.
[48:33] Speaker 4: He averaged 13.
[48:35] Speaker 6: Come on, bro. But you know what that is, though. What?
[48:38] Speaker 6: The Cat two points.
[48:39] Speaker 4: What?
[48:41] Speaker 7: Cat two points? Listen, we went five and one. He
[48:46] Speaker 7: just says the greatest run ever. So that two points,
[48:48] Speaker 7: and I'm still part of the greatest run in playoff history.
[48:51] Speaker 3: And think about the margin of error and the margin
[48:54] Speaker 3: of victory. You won all those games by two points.
[48:58] Speaker 3: four five nine like you you you squeaked by but
[49:03] Speaker 3: what you squeaked by was we had to because he
[49:05] Speaker 3: didn't do anything in the fourth quarter he never did
[49:08] Speaker 3: but but he was a presence though you had to respect.
[49:11] Speaker 7: Him but you had to respect cat no no no
[49:13] Speaker 7: he did it and we talked about it yeah right
[49:15] Speaker 7: and then we talked about it he had the next
[49:16] Speaker 7: game he had five.
[49:17] Speaker 3: Yeah but you still gotta respect that he can give
[49:20] Speaker 3: you 30 when you realize he's making 20 million.
[49:22] Speaker 1: More than Jalen Brunson next season.
[49:27] Speaker 3: No he's making because Jalen took less money so.
[49:31] Speaker 1: He can that's the point is I got the king
[49:33] Speaker 1: of New York and I got a guy making 20 million.
[49:35] Speaker 3: More than him but I'm the big bodega though you
[49:40] Speaker 3: know what.
[49:40] Speaker 6: I do and if we got a chance to go
[49:41] Speaker 6: get the Greek.
[49:42] Speaker 3: Freak we gonna lose we're gonna lose we're gonna lose.
[49:47] Speaker 6: Shit to get the Greek freak and I'm not but
[49:49] Speaker 6: what you lose you gain.
[49:50] Speaker 3: Though on a small margin though.
[49:53] Speaker 4: We have two guys right now that like to play
[49:55] Speaker 4: in the paint.
[49:56] Speaker 3: Mitchell and Cat?
[49:57] Speaker 2: Who?
[49:57] Speaker 3: Oh, you're talking about Brunson.
[49:59] Speaker 4: Brunson and Giannis. They like to both put their.
[50:02] Speaker 6: Head down here. Right?
[50:03] Speaker 7: Cat is a pick and pop, can spread the board.
[50:06] Speaker 7: It just works better. Yes, Giannis is better. Yes, we
[50:09] Speaker 7: know that. Yes, for sure. But we're talking about the
[50:11] Speaker 7: offense and how this runs. We're talking about coming down,
[50:14] Speaker 7: getting that pick and pop, being able to come.
[50:16] Speaker 6: And we're praising Mike Brown, right?
[50:18] Speaker 3: Huh?
[50:18] Speaker 6: So we're praising Mike Brown here, right?
[50:20] Speaker 4: Yes.
[50:20] Speaker 6: For getting the job. Well, Mike Brown, guess what, brother?
[50:23] Speaker 2: What?
[50:24] Speaker 6: You would have to do some coaching.
[50:26] Speaker 5: Nah.
[50:26] Speaker 4: Nah.
[50:27] Speaker 6: I did all the coaching.
[50:28] Speaker 4: Nah, you're putting me in a position where now I
[50:30] Speaker 4: got to... Now I got to... All right, listen, man.
[50:32] Speaker 6: We got to... No, I can't do it. It's like
[50:34] Speaker 6: a rebrand.
[50:34] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
[50:35] Speaker 6: You don't want to rebrand. You don't have to rebrand. Yeah,
[50:37] Speaker 6: you start all over.
[50:38] Speaker 3: And it's a superstar that they're starting over with.
[50:41] Speaker 6: It's a megastar.
[50:41] Speaker 3: It's a megastar. It's a megastar you're talking about now.
[50:43] Speaker 6: You're over with Giannis, dog. Giannis.
[50:45] Speaker 1: Knicks fans are going to be like, damn, we miscapped,
[50:47] Speaker 1: but damn.
[50:48] Speaker 3: We got Giannis. It's like getting Luka, though. You get Luka,
[50:51] Speaker 3: you get Giannis, you're like... Yo, we definitely got a chance.
[50:56] Speaker 3: But then you see.
[50:57] Speaker 7: The chemistry and you're like, this don't feel good.
[50:59] Speaker 6: Now you better win it. What's wrong with that pressure?
[51:02] Speaker 4: It does.
[51:03] Speaker 6: What's wrong with that?
[51:03] Speaker 5: 100%.
[51:03] Speaker 6: We're not complaining about that. What's wrong with that pressure though?
[51:12] Speaker 6: That we have to win. What's wrong with that pressure?
[51:14] Speaker 4: That's a lot of pressure.
[51:15] Speaker 6: But what's wrong with it?
[51:16] Speaker 4: That's a lot of pressure. I'm just saying, it's a
[51:17] Speaker 4: lot of pressure.
[51:18] Speaker 6: He just had that pressure from Milwaukee, though. I think
[51:20] Speaker 6: they welcomed him.
[51:20] Speaker 4: The pressure from Milwaukee and the pressure with the Knicks
[51:22] Speaker 4: is too different.
[51:23] Speaker 6: 100% media-wide, but still pressure. If he walk in the
[51:26] Speaker 6: door without a championship, yes. He walks in the door
[51:29] Speaker 6: with one.
[51:31] Speaker 2: And the finals.
[51:31] Speaker 6: And the finals. That helps. Listen.
[51:33] Speaker 4: Over there, though, you guys are missing out.
[51:35] Speaker 3: He won that. No, no, but no, no.
[51:37] Speaker 6: What's wrong with it?
[51:38] Speaker 4: No, but he won it over there, though.
[51:39] Speaker 3: That has nothing to do.
[51:42] Speaker 4: When you're here with this next show.
[51:44] Speaker 5: This is different.
[51:44] Speaker 3: We already have championship experience here.
[51:45] Speaker 6: That's fine.
[51:46] Speaker 3: He's going to have to deal with the KD stuff.
[51:47] Speaker 4: He's Greek, though. He won it already.
[51:48] Speaker 6: You cool and all, but this is Bronson Town. Let
[51:50] Speaker 6: that be. That's fine.
[51:51] Speaker 3: If I know Giannis, from what I could tell from
[51:54] Speaker 3: just being around, being... He wants to win.
[52:16] Speaker 6: Before anything, he wants to win. He goes out and
[52:20] Speaker 6: competes in order to win. The words that comes out
[52:23] Speaker 6: of his mouth during interviews, I want to compete, give
[52:26] Speaker 6: us a chance to win, whatever I have to do,
[52:27] Speaker 6: the possibility to win, all these things about winning. I've
[52:31] Speaker 6: won here. Yes. If I have the opportunity to win
[52:36] Speaker 6: with another, somebody that just... I don't need to be
[52:41] Speaker 6: on the billboard now.
[52:43] Speaker 3: Well, you don't need to leave either. You don't need
[52:45] Speaker 3: to leave. You don't need to leave either. If you
[52:48] Speaker 3: already won, you already.
[52:50] Speaker 6: It's almost a foregone conclusion that he is not going
[52:54] Speaker 6: to be in Milwaukee next year.
[52:56] Speaker 3: No, I understand. I'm just saying your need to win
[52:58] Speaker 3: and saying that you want to win. If that was
[53:02] Speaker 3: the case, you would have made it work where you are.
[53:04] Speaker 6: He did. To the best of his ability.
[53:07] Speaker 3: So now going somewhere else and saying, I'm going to
[53:09] Speaker 3: defer and I'm going to.
[53:11] Speaker 6: Who said he has to defer?
[53:12] Speaker 3: You said he's all about winning.
[53:14] Speaker 6: Yes, and that's what that is. He's going to go
[53:15] Speaker 6: up and be here.
[53:16] Speaker 3: He's going to have to defer in New York. How?
[53:18] Speaker 1: If he goes to Boston, same situation.
[53:19] Speaker 6: How is he going to have to defer to whom?
[53:22] Speaker 4: To whom?
[53:23] Speaker 3: Why?
[53:24] Speaker 4: I'm not deferring.
[53:25] Speaker 6: Don't disrespect me. We champions here. I'm not deferring to him.
[53:30] Speaker 6: But why do I have to defer to anybody? You're
[53:32] Speaker 6: not deferring to Taylor.
[53:32] Speaker 3: Everywhere you go, you're going to have to defer. So
[53:34] Speaker 3: let me ask you, so what is deferring? Everywhere you go.
[53:37] Speaker 3: If Giannis go to Boston, I'm not. You're leaving your
[53:39] Speaker 3: fucking throne. Giannis is leaving his throne to go to
[53:42] Speaker 3: somebody else.
[53:43] Speaker 6: Can you ask me, what does deferring to them look like?
[53:46] Speaker 6: Because I don't know what it looks like.
[53:47] Speaker 4: Deferring means take the back seat, buddy.
[53:49] Speaker 6: This is my house. But what does that look like?
[53:52] Speaker 7: That means when the game is on the line, you
[53:54] Speaker 7: know who has the ball.
[53:55] Speaker 3: I'm taking the shots.
[53:57] Speaker 6: Y'all worried about a pissing contest.
[53:59] Speaker 4: That's not a pissing contest. Do you want to be
[54:01] Speaker 4: the greatest or not? Do you want to be the
[54:04] Speaker 4: greatest or not?
[54:05] Speaker 7: The greatest got to have the ball in their hands
[54:07] Speaker 7: when the play is at.
[54:09] Speaker 4: It's on the line.
[54:10] Speaker 6: No, man.
[54:10] Speaker 4: Yes, it does.
[54:12] Speaker 5: Yes, it is.
[54:12] Speaker 6: Legacies be determined about winning and losing, man.
[54:15] Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
[54:15] Speaker 7: Okay, well, listen, if he go to the Knicks, listen, listen,
[54:19] Speaker 7: if Giannis go to the Knicks and win three more
[54:22] Speaker 7: rings and don't get a finals MVP.
[54:24] Speaker 6: Who said he's not?
[54:25] Speaker 4: If he doesn't get one and Brunson keeps running.
[54:27] Speaker 6: He's 27-11. When he's 13, like consistently.
[54:32] Speaker 4: And this guy's averaging 30 something.
[54:34] Speaker 6: He won't average. He don't need that. He averaged that
[54:36] Speaker 6: because this sec is number two. I am not.
[54:39] Speaker 4: Numbers.
[54:40] Speaker 7: I am not turning off the switch because he coming
[54:42] Speaker 7: over here.
[54:43] Speaker 6: You don't have to turn.
[54:44] Speaker 4: What are you talking about? I am trying to make
[54:45] Speaker 4: it in New York. I am not turning down when
[54:47] Speaker 4: Giannis come over here.
[54:48] Speaker 6: Who says they have to turn it down? I'm not.
[54:51] Speaker 4: I'm just telling you, I'm not. So I'm going to
[54:53] Speaker 4: keep averaging my 32.
[54:53] Speaker 3: I'm going to keep averaging my 32. At the same time,
[54:56] Speaker 3: they both turn it on. Somebody got to turn it down.
[54:59] Speaker 6: Who?
[55:00] Speaker 3: Who?
[55:00] Speaker 6: Who did?
[55:01] Speaker 3: Jalen Brown had to turn it down. Jamal Murray had.
[55:04] Speaker 6: To turn it down. The other guy was number one.
[55:09] Speaker 6: Jason Tatum has been number one on that team.
[55:12] Speaker 3: Jalen Brown had to turn it down.
[55:13] Speaker 6: No, he did not. Jason Tatum is number one. He
[55:17] Speaker 6: wasn't number one this year. Jamal Murray is number two.
[55:21] Speaker 6: Jokic is number one. Jalen Brown is number two. Jalen
[55:24] Speaker 6: Brunson is number one. He is number one on that team, yes.
[55:28] Speaker 3: So, Giannis coming over, you're saying Jalen Brunson going to
[55:30] Speaker 3: move to number two?
[55:31] Speaker 6: Why would he have to move? Were y'all worried about
[55:33] Speaker 6: the wrong?
[55:34] Speaker 4: No, we're not.
[55:34] Speaker 6: We just explained it, bro.
[55:36] Speaker 4: We got to stay on track.
[55:37] Speaker 6: That guy is him there.
[55:39] Speaker 4: So who's number one and who's number two?
[55:41] Speaker 3: Who's number one and who's number two?
[55:42] Speaker 5: Please.
[55:42] Speaker 6: So when Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony played together, who
[55:45] Speaker 6: was one and who was two?
[55:46] Speaker 4: I'm asking you.
[55:47] Speaker 6: Carmelo Anthony was number one. They both had the same
[55:49] Speaker 6: amount of points.
[55:50] Speaker 4: I'm asking you.
[55:50] Speaker 6: He was in Denver. You were there. I'm telling you,
[55:53] Speaker 6: they both had the same amount of points. Who was
[55:55] Speaker 6: one and who was two?
[55:56] Speaker 4: I'm asking you.
[55:56] Speaker 6: You tell us.
[55:57] Speaker 3: Neither one of them.
[56:01] Speaker 6: Neither one of them.
[56:02] Speaker 3: So this is the first time in history that either
[56:04] Speaker 3: one of them was number one or number two.
[56:06] Speaker 6: There's two number one. Whose team was it, KD? It
[56:07] Speaker 6: was neither one of them.
[56:10] Speaker 4: Neither one of them.
[56:10] Speaker 6: Neither one of them.
[56:11] Speaker 3: So Allen Iverson came all.
[56:13] Speaker 6: The way to them. I know why we lost in
[56:14] Speaker 6: the first fucking round. No, that's not the problem.
[56:18] Speaker 4: It was Carmelo Anthony's team.
[56:19] Speaker 6: He was drafted there.
[56:20] Speaker 4: He was already there. It was Carmelo Anthony's team.
[56:22] Speaker 3: Okay, cool. He was the star guy.
[56:25] Speaker 7: Carmelo Anthony was the mega star there.
[56:27] Speaker 6: 27. You know who took the shots at the end
[56:28] Speaker 6: of the game? Both guys. So what?
[56:30] Speaker 5: KD was the better player, but it was Steph's team.
[56:33] Speaker 5: Whose team was it? It was Steph's team, but KD
[56:35] Speaker 5: was the guy. Like, it don't matter what KD did,
[56:38] Speaker 5: it was Steph's team.
[56:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. And so when LeBron went to Miami, it
[56:42] Speaker 3: was D-Wade's team.
[56:46] Speaker 4: I know, but who was the guy, though?
[56:49] Speaker 3: It really didn't matter. So tell him to thank you.
[56:51] Speaker 6: I really can't.
[56:51] Speaker 5: I can't tell you.
[56:52] Speaker 6: You experienced it. Yeah, some games.
[56:53] Speaker 3: Was it two number ones? Nick, you experienced it.
[56:56] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[56:58] Speaker 6: Was it two ones, Nick?
[57:00] Speaker 4: Hey, Skip, can it be two number ones?
[57:01] Speaker 5: They both was doing so good that you didn't know
[57:04] Speaker 5: who the finals MVP was going to go to until
[57:06] Speaker 5: one messed up.
[57:07] Speaker 4: Skip, can it be two number ones?
[57:10] Speaker 2: It's usually, like Carmelo was, he was already established when
[57:15] Speaker 2: Allen got there.
[57:16] Speaker 3: Yes, I was there.
[57:17] Speaker 4: I was there.
[57:19] Speaker 6: I got to give him a little second year. And
[57:22] Speaker 6: AI was....
[57:26] Speaker 2: Was starting to get to the downside of his career, right?
[57:29] Speaker 2: He was coming out of his prime a little bit.
[57:31] Speaker 6: It's the average of 27.
[57:33] Speaker 2: Okay, all right. But it's just Carmelo is established.
[57:37] Speaker 3: Yes.
[57:38] Speaker 2: Just the way Jalen would now be very established.
[57:41] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[57:43] Speaker 2: The locker room is going to look to Jalen before
[57:45] Speaker 2: they look to Giannis. And that's okay.
[57:47] Speaker 6: For game winners? Yeah, absolutely. I understand that.
[57:49] Speaker 2: And it should be okay with Giannis if he signs off.
[57:52] Speaker 2: I know it's hypothetical.
[57:53] Speaker 3: Yes.
[57:54] Speaker 6: All of this hypothetical, yes.
[57:55] Speaker 4: But still, I've.
[57:57] Speaker 2: Been intrigued by it from the moment it came out
[58:00] Speaker 2: of your mouth the first time because... And now I'm
[58:04] Speaker 2: a prisoner of the Game 5 moment because Cat scores
[58:07] Speaker 2: two points. Right, right.
[58:09] Speaker 3: But still.
[58:10] Speaker 2: When I just do Giannis or Cat, Giannis or Cat, well, obviously,
[58:14] Speaker 2: it's Giannis, even though they're both along the trail quite
[58:19] Speaker 2: a ways because Giannis is going to be 32 in December,
[58:23] Speaker 2: and it's his 14th year. Well, I'm not saying you're
[58:26] Speaker 2: out of your prime, but you're at the backside of
[58:28] Speaker 2: your prime.
[58:28] Speaker 9: Yes.
[58:29] Speaker 2: And you are a little more injury-prone than you have
[58:32] Speaker 2: been as a kid, right?
[58:33] Speaker 3: For sure.
[58:35] Speaker 2: Okay, a little more.
[58:36] Speaker 6: How he plays the game.
[58:37] Speaker 2: Okay, and you made the point you need to calm
[58:40] Speaker 2: down a little bit and reconstruct the way you play
[58:44] Speaker 2: the game. You don't need to run the floor quite
[58:47] Speaker 2: as hard as you used to run the floor five, six,
[58:50] Speaker 2: seven years ago, right?
[58:52] Speaker 5: Okay.
[58:53] Speaker 4: So.
[58:55] Speaker 2: I do remind you that Carl Anthony Towns this year
[58:57] Speaker 2: for the Knicks, during the regular season, he averaged 12
[59:00] Speaker 2: boards a game, and that was second to Jokic in
[59:03] Speaker 2: rebounds in the league.
[59:04] Speaker 6: You have a 20-12.
[59:05] Speaker 2: Okay, so that's substantial production that you have to account for,
[59:10] Speaker 2: and Giannis, I think, can account for that. But here's
[59:14] Speaker 2: the concern. Giannis, twice in his career, has led the
[59:19] Speaker 2: league in usage rate. He's led the whole, it's 39% twice,
[59:24] Speaker 2: where he had the ball for 39%, let's call it 40%
[59:27] Speaker 2: of the time. It's a lot, man. It's like, it's
[59:31] Speaker 2: my ball. I've got to have the ball.
[59:34] Speaker 6: It's my ball. Ball's stopping.
[59:35] Speaker 2: But he was clearly the man in Milwaukee for a
[59:39] Speaker 2: championship team and the finals MVP. So he would have
[59:44] Speaker 2: to accept some things going into this situation that I
[59:47] Speaker 2: think he would in year 14. You know, like he'd say, okay,
[59:52] Speaker 2: I got a shot here. Now there'd be, to your point,
[59:54] Speaker 2: huge pressure on him because this, I'm intrigued by it
[59:58] Speaker 2: because for Leon Rose and your man worldwide, yeah, it
[1:00:05] Speaker 2: would be the all-time gutsy move, but it would be
[1:00:08] Speaker 2: a shrewd one to say, let's just, let's really upgrade here.
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: The only thing that sticks in my craw about it
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: is I've been watching these five Knicks starters do the
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: media tour. They've been on every show there is imaginable.
[1:00:22] Speaker 2: And they seem very close-knit to me. And Jalen loves
[1:00:28] Speaker 2: his core. And, boy, he'd have to sign off on
[1:00:31] Speaker 2: a big move, especially if you have to throw Josh
[1:00:34] Speaker 2: Hart into it. That's his podcast part. That's a tough sale, right?
[1:00:37] Speaker 2: Them two is a tough sale.
[1:00:38] Speaker 6: That's a tough sale. You're not breaking up this championship.
[1:00:42] Speaker 3: And over Nick's core. That's a tough sale, absolutely.
[1:00:44] Speaker 6: He's not going nowhere.
[1:00:53] Speaker 2: Okay, they're going to want more than Karl-Anthony Taft.
[1:00:55] Speaker 3: Absolutely. Because he take the back seat.
[1:00:58] Speaker 6: It's a 1A seat. It's not back seat.
[1:00:59] Speaker 2: No, no, no. I don't feel like driving today. We're
[1:01:02] Speaker 2: driving across the country.
[1:01:03] Speaker 3: We're driving across the country.
[1:01:04] Speaker 6: And, hey.
[1:01:16] Speaker 3: I promise you.
[1:01:17] Speaker 6: You drive 12-hour shifts. I drive 12-hour shifts.
[1:01:21] Speaker 3: Was Dame the same in that same position?
[1:01:23] Speaker 5: No.
[1:01:24] Speaker 6: So Dame was backseat.
[1:01:25] Speaker 4: He was backseat.
[1:01:26] Speaker 7: Yo, it's the same thing when Shaq went to Miami
[1:01:29] Speaker 7: and Gary Payton told him, yo, big fella, you got
[1:01:31] Speaker 7: to take the backseat on this one and let Dwyane
[1:01:33] Speaker 7: Wade go ahead.
[1:01:34] Speaker 5: Who took the backseat, KD or Steph? Who's 1A and 1B?
[1:01:38] Speaker 4: KD took the backseat.
[1:01:40] Speaker 3: KD took the backseat because they had to tell KD,
[1:01:42] Speaker 3: don't take the backseat. We want you in the front
[1:01:44] Speaker 3: seat if you don't remember. KD got there KD was
[1:01:47] Speaker 3: very complacent with trying to fit in with the team.
[1:01:49] Speaker 3: They was like, no, we need you to be yourself.
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: They had to remind him that we didn't bring... You
[1:01:53] Speaker 3: didn't come here to be the guy we're just trying to...
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: You can't save us. Bro, come in here and be you.
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: They had to tell him that because he was willing
[1:02:01] Speaker 3: to just... be a part of one.
[1:02:03] Speaker 6: Of the guys.
[1:02:03] Speaker 3: He's like, I know what y'all do.
[1:02:05] Speaker 5: And they also said we won here before you.
[1:02:08] Speaker 6: And that's my point too though, but that's my point
[1:02:10] Speaker 6: as well, right? Why would we trade for Giannis for
[1:02:13] Speaker 6: Giannis to come over here and not be Giannis? Right?
[1:02:18] Speaker 6: Why would we bring him here to be like, you
[1:02:21] Speaker 6: know what, come over here and take a backseat to
[1:02:23] Speaker 6: Jalen Brunson? Like, no, we need you to come here
[1:02:26] Speaker 6: and average your 27, 13, like you need to come
[1:02:29] Speaker 6: in and do you, be you. Be that dog that
[1:02:33] Speaker 6: won that championship and that finals MVP in Milwaukee that
[1:02:36] Speaker 6: won 60 games and 60 games and 58 games. We
[1:02:42] Speaker 6: need that person here. We're not bringing you here to
[1:02:45] Speaker 6: be like, this is Jalen's team. We understand who's going
[1:02:48] Speaker 6: to take the shots down the stretch. We understand that.
[1:02:51] Speaker 6: This is the closer here. Yes, but there are going
[1:02:55] Speaker 6: to be opportunities for some games for me to make
[1:02:58] Speaker 6: plays in those moments as well. But if we're in
[1:03:01] Speaker 6: this and we're trying to do this thing to win,
[1:03:04] Speaker 6: I'm just looking at the winning aspect of it. I'm
[1:03:07] Speaker 6: not looking at anything else. Whoever plays, if they hypothetically
[1:03:11] Speaker 6: make it to the finals, and whoever plays the best
[1:03:14] Speaker 6: in that finals will be the finals MVP. Who knows
[1:03:18] Speaker 6: who that could be? You know what I'm saying? Like this,
[1:03:21] Speaker 6: we were talking about OG and Anobi and might have
[1:03:23] Speaker 6: had a shot this year. So... It's just who's playing
[1:03:27] Speaker 6: well at that time. That would have been big.
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: You think Giannis is not getting to a finals and
[1:03:33] Speaker 1: trying to sneak that finals in?
[1:03:35] Speaker 4: He tasted it.
[1:03:36] Speaker 7: You can't give me a taste of something and be like, no,
[1:03:38] Speaker 7: I don't want that no more.
[1:03:39] Speaker 4: It's like, no, this is the greatest.
[1:03:41] Speaker 6: But he's playing, though. You got to play the game. Right.
[1:03:44] Speaker 7: I have to play the game, but maybe the way
[1:03:46] Speaker 7: he plays doesn't fit the system.
[1:03:48] Speaker 4: That's all I'm saying.
[1:03:49] Speaker 6: We don't know that.
[1:03:50] Speaker 3: But we know the way Cat plays and it does
[1:03:53] Speaker 3: fit the system.
[1:03:54] Speaker 4: So now we have to come in here and do
[1:03:55] Speaker 4: it Like, try to figure it out.
[1:03:57] Speaker 6: It's like– And if the East suck, why change? It's
[1:04:00] Speaker 6: not like– If the East suck, he's saying– But our teams–
[1:04:03] Speaker 6: do teams try to get better?
[1:04:04] Speaker 1: No, no, no.
[1:04:04] Speaker 3: No, they have to get better.
[1:04:05] Speaker 6: No, they have to get better. I beat the best
[1:04:07] Speaker 6: team when they were the best.
[1:04:08] Speaker 3: Like, I beat Boston already.
[1:04:09] Speaker 6: Yeah, but they weren't healthy.
[1:04:11] Speaker 3: They weren't.
[1:04:11] Speaker 5: The team before– you talking about– I beat them with
[1:04:14] Speaker 5: pazingas and everything.
[1:04:15] Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, the year before. Yeah, they beat them 4-2.
[1:04:18] Speaker 2: And what if Boston has Giannis now, would Jason tell you?
[1:04:22] Speaker 3: But they're going to lose. But no Jalen Brown. No
[1:04:23] Speaker 3: Jalen Brown.
[1:04:24] Speaker 5: Okay.
[1:04:24] Speaker 3: Okay. They lose a big piece.
[1:04:26] Speaker 2: All of a sudden, Boston's going to have to do
[1:04:28] Speaker 2: what you're talking about, the Knicks. They're just going to
[1:04:31] Speaker 2: have to revamp the whole show.
[1:04:33] Speaker 6: Whoever gets the honors. If they're trying to win, that's
[1:04:36] Speaker 6: what it has to do.
[1:04:36] Speaker 2: But especially Boston, you can't shoot 53 threes a game.
[1:04:40] Speaker 6: His game ain't that. Go rebound.
[1:04:42] Speaker 4: I'm just looking at it. No team has repeated.
[1:04:44] Speaker 6: No team has went back. Other teams try to get better.
[1:04:52] Speaker 6: If you have the opportunity, this is all a hypothetical thing, right?
[1:04:57] Speaker 6: So let's see.
[1:04:57] Speaker 5: You don't want to see Ant-Man and Yannis?
[1:04:59] Speaker 1: But at a certain point, you got to do, all right, well,
[1:05:01] Speaker 1: let's keep this thing moving. It's going to be a very,
[1:05:03] Speaker 1: very interesting draft free agency offseason around the league. But
[1:05:06] Speaker 1: today's podcast is sponsored by Rowe. Women find confidence sexy

[1:06:13] Speaker 6: So we talk Knicks.
[1:06:14] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to the San Antonio side, Spurs. reached
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: their first final since 2014, their 62 wins being the
[1:06:20] Speaker 1: most in a season in a decade. Wimby finished third
[1:06:24] Speaker 1: in MVP voting, was the first unanimous defensive player of
[1:06:27] Speaker 1: the year. San Antonio has the best young core in
[1:06:30] Speaker 1: the league in Wimby, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper. Before
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: this season, Wimby said it would be a success if
[1:06:35] Speaker 1: the Spurs finished at least top six in the West.
[1:06:38] Speaker 1: So obviously they exceeded those expectations. But Rashad, when you
[1:06:41] Speaker 1: look at the Spurs, how would you grade the Spurs
[1:06:44] Speaker 1: this season?
[1:06:44] Speaker 2: Uh.
[1:06:48] Speaker 3: Can't give them an A-plus because they fell short. They
[1:06:51] Speaker 3: definitely failed. But to get from where they are, from 11,
[1:06:56] Speaker 3: predicted preseason 11, and taking that young quarter the way
[1:07:00] Speaker 3: they did, a new coach. I mean, you're talking about
[1:07:03] Speaker 3: a team that no one was looking at. And a
[1:07:07] Speaker 3: kid that came off a blood clot. I think a
[1:07:08] Speaker 3: lot of people forget the big scare that Winby had
[1:07:11] Speaker 3: that almost took him out. You know, he had to
[1:07:15] Speaker 3: recover from something that could have ended his career. So
[1:07:18] Speaker 3: for him to go to the monks and try to
[1:07:20] Speaker 3: figure out how to keep his stamina, his cardio the
[1:07:24] Speaker 3: way it needs to be with minutes restrictions and being
[1:07:27] Speaker 3: able to stay within the team chemistry and having De'Aaron
[1:07:31] Speaker 3: Fox be healthy but not truly be the Fox that
[1:07:35] Speaker 3: he needed to go all the way.
[1:07:37] Speaker 1: What Fox did with the ankle injury, I think, you know,
[1:07:39] Speaker 1: was well-documented. For the whole season? No, just postseason.
[1:07:42] Speaker 3: No, I'm saying from the beginning to the end, De'Aaron Fox,
[1:07:46] Speaker 3: you know, he was an all-star. But as I said before,
[1:07:49] Speaker 3: I looked at him as a superstar talent. So you
[1:07:52] Speaker 3: never really looked at the Spurs as somebody who's going
[1:07:54] Speaker 3: to sweep through the West. So for them to do
[1:07:57] Speaker 3: that and him to play as well as he played,
[1:08:00] Speaker 3: his numbers didn't waver from the last two years. He's
[1:08:02] Speaker 3: still averaging 24 and 11. To be able to have
[1:08:06] Speaker 3: the defensive year that he had, sweep those awards and
[1:08:11] Speaker 3: get there. Get there is important. But now he knows
[1:08:15] Speaker 3: the experience of getting there and what it takes to
[1:08:17] Speaker 3: get over top and take it to the next level.
[1:08:20] Speaker 3: He did shrink in the finals. He didn't overcome the
[1:08:25] Speaker 3: small things that he needed to do that would make
[1:08:29] Speaker 3: him a champion. And I think that if he would
[1:08:31] Speaker 3: have done that, it would have looked a lot differently.
[1:08:34] Speaker 3: But experience is the best teacher. So I think that
[1:08:37] Speaker 3: for Wimby, And the Spurs. Dylan Harper, you know, the
[1:08:40] Speaker 3: comments coming out about him not being pleased with playing
[1:08:44] Speaker 3: time throughout the season.
[1:08:46] Speaker 6: That's a glaring comment.
[1:08:48] Speaker 2: Vassell said that.
[1:08:49] Speaker 3: Vassell, not only did Vassell say it, but that was
[1:08:52] Speaker 3: a lingering thing throughout the season. So you could tell
[1:08:56] Speaker 3: now that he said it, you can kind of go
[1:08:58] Speaker 3: back and be like, Dylan wanted to play more. He
[1:09:01] Speaker 3: felt like he was outplaying Fox. And we was already
[1:09:04] Speaker 3: talking about it, man. De'Aaron Fox can move out. Hey,
[1:09:07] Speaker 3: you bring this young fella in and let him play.
[1:09:09] Speaker 3: And Miss Johnson's loyalty to veterans was one of the
[1:09:13] Speaker 3: things that kept And they're both clutch clients, so they
[1:09:17] Speaker 3: both going to have an understanding of what they need
[1:09:20] Speaker 3: to do to keep the shit going. But the Spurs, A.
[1:09:24] Speaker 3: I give them an A. I definitely love everything they did.
[1:09:27] Speaker 3: I was rooting for Wimby. Like I try to tell people,
[1:09:30] Speaker 3: I was a Wimby supporter and I was a Knicks supporter.
[1:09:34] Speaker 3: So when it came down to supporting the Spurs, it's
[1:09:38] Speaker 3: a part of the Wimby training. So him getting there
[1:09:41] Speaker 3: and not finishing is definitely a mark on his armor,
[1:09:44] Speaker 3: but I give him an A for the participation.
[1:09:49] Speaker 1: Swaggy, when you look at what the Spurs were able
[1:09:51] Speaker 1: to accomplish this season, at one point you called Wimby
[1:09:54] Speaker 1: a lunchtime baller, a lunchtime hooper. Upgraded him out of that.
[1:09:58] Speaker 1: Now it seems like you may have brought him back
[1:10:00] Speaker 1: down to earth just a little bit, but how would
[1:10:01] Speaker 1: you grade the Spurs season? D, I.
[1:10:05] Speaker 5: Don't care about losing. I don't care about losing at everything, man. guys.
[1:10:11] Speaker 3: No, I'm just like, I'll give him a C. I'll
[1:10:13] Speaker 3: give him a C.
[1:10:14] Speaker 1: You went from a D to a C, okay.
[1:10:15] Speaker 6: Yeah, he get a C minus. C's get different.
[1:10:18] Speaker 5: Um, they did, you know, the future's bright for them,
[1:10:23] Speaker 5: you know, for the Spurs, but the disappointing part is like,
[1:10:29] Speaker 5: you know, how quick they're, they could blame other guys, um,
[1:10:36] Speaker 5: when they lose and uplift other guys when they win. Uh,
[1:10:40] Speaker 5: too cocky, go get away with too much. The average
[1:10:44] Speaker 5: person would have got suspended and all that. But, you know,
[1:10:49] Speaker 5: it's like they want them to win. You know, I
[1:10:50] Speaker 5: want to see the Spurs win when it's without help,
[1:10:55] Speaker 5: you know. And just like some people on this couch
[1:10:58] Speaker 5: disrespect Brian, I'm just doing the same thing to the Spurs.
[1:11:01] Speaker 6: A lot of Brian disrespects.
[1:11:03] Speaker 5: I'm just doing the same thing to the Spurs.
[1:11:05] Speaker 3: Who are some people? Are they in the room right now? Yeah,
[1:11:09] Speaker 3: they're in the room right now. Say their name. Is
[1:11:10] Speaker 3: it the Boogeyman or the Candyman? No.
[1:11:13] Speaker 6: Oh, because it's got to be Skip. It's got to
[1:11:16] Speaker 6: be Skip.
[1:11:16] Speaker 3: It's got to be Skip.
[1:11:17] Speaker 6: Well-documented.
[1:11:18] Speaker 5: Well-documented. You know, I give the Spurs a C. They
[1:11:20] Speaker 5: didn't get it done. You know, they get an A
[1:11:23] Speaker 5: when you win. You don't get it done for participating
[1:11:27] Speaker 5: in it.
[1:11:27] Speaker 1: Won the West, though. Western Conference champions.
[1:11:29] Speaker 4: Hurt West.
[1:11:30] Speaker 5: You don't get an A for participating in the finals,
[1:11:32] Speaker 5: you know. I was just there.
[1:11:34] Speaker 6: I get an A.
[1:11:36] Speaker 5: No, you get a C just like everybody else that lost.
[1:11:39] Speaker 5: If you didn't win, some people say you get a C.
[1:11:43] Speaker 1: Well, Skip, let's move on to you, former Spurs fan.
[1:11:46] Speaker 1: Went back to your homeland, your roots, rejoined the Thunder,
[1:11:49] Speaker 1: but how would you grade the Spurs season?
[1:11:53] Speaker 2: I'll give them a B because I'm with Rashad. I
[1:11:58] Speaker 2: expected a lot out of him this year. I expected
[1:12:02] Speaker 2: way more out of him the previous two years than
[1:12:06] Speaker 2: they provided because as soon as I saw Wimby, I'm
[1:12:12] Speaker 2: going back his rookie year, he's so tall and so
[1:12:15] Speaker 2: long and so incredibly skilled, like textbook skilled. I mean,
[1:12:21] Speaker 2: that shot's as pure as you can get and he's 7'6.
[1:12:26] Speaker 2: And I'm watching him carefully his rookie year and they
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: go 19 and 52. with Vassell and with Keldon Johnson
[1:12:34] Speaker 2: and with Champagny, and I'm like, you're not better than that?
[1:12:39] Speaker 2: I'm going back rookie year, and you say he's just
[1:12:41] Speaker 2: a baby, but he's a big baby, man, 19 and 52.
[1:12:45] Speaker 2: And then last year, going back now two years ago,
[1:12:51] Speaker 2: they go 21 and 25 before he had his injury situation.
[1:12:54] Speaker 2: So in his first two years in the league, he's
[1:12:56] Speaker 2: 40 and 77 in the games he started. And he's
[1:13:00] Speaker 2: way better than that, to me. And yet, Stephon Castle
[1:13:06] Speaker 2: comes along, and he's the rookie of the year. And then,
[1:13:09] Speaker 2: at the trade deadline last year, they go get De'Aaron Fox,
[1:13:13] Speaker 2: who was, I know it's three years ago, but he
[1:13:16] Speaker 2: was the clutch player of the year. Didn't see that
[1:13:19] Speaker 2: in this playoff run. But he was that for the
[1:13:22] Speaker 2: Sacramento Kings. As we keep saying, maybe he had a
[1:13:25] Speaker 2: little too much king in him when he got to
[1:13:29] Speaker 2: the big stage, but look, they, they, they, they arrived
[1:13:36] Speaker 2: on schedule this year because he's the alien. And, and
[1:13:41] Speaker 2: then they did something I didn't see coming. They beat
[1:13:44] Speaker 2: the Oklahoma city thunder, the defending champs who started out
[1:13:47] Speaker 2: 24 and one, they beat him three times in 12 days,
[1:13:51] Speaker 2: very early in the season, culminating on Christmas day was
[1:13:54] Speaker 2: the third win, but they did that. And it, and it,
[1:13:58] Speaker 2: ignited belief in the Spurs and it ignited doubt in
[1:14:02] Speaker 2: the Thunder. That's what happened. And that carried through much
[1:14:06] Speaker 2: of the year, but the Thunder bounced back and won
[1:14:08] Speaker 2: the West by two games. So it's not like the
[1:14:12] Speaker 2: Spurs dominated the West. But then they get to the
[1:14:16] Speaker 2: postseason and they did get a big break. I'm going
[1:14:21] Speaker 2: to say it again one more time. There was no
[1:14:23] Speaker 2: Jalen Williams and there was no A.J. Mitchell after the
[1:14:26] Speaker 2: second game of the conference finals. And it was close,
[1:14:32] Speaker 2: and the Thunder had 10 chances in the fourth quarter.
[1:14:36] Speaker 2: And it's ironic that the backup center in San Antonio
[1:14:39] Speaker 2: made the play of the year for the Spurs, and
[1:14:41] Speaker 2: that was Luke Cornett on that chased-down block of Hartenstein.
[1:14:46] Speaker 2: That's the turning point of that game because that's in
[1:14:50] Speaker 2: Oklahoma City. If he goes down there and just lays
[1:14:53] Speaker 2: it in, let alone dunk it, It's just different. It's
[1:14:58] Speaker 2: just the games because he just stole it from bad
[1:15:01] Speaker 2: Dylan Harper pass. So then you get to the finals
[1:15:06] Speaker 2: and you can argue that, oh, we led by 10
[1:15:09] Speaker 2: plus points in all five games. That's pretty impressive. But
[1:15:14] Speaker 2: you got gentlemen swept. And so it just feels like
[1:15:19] Speaker 2: a B of a year where I know there's this
[1:15:23] Speaker 2: issue with Dylan Harper, but And we'll get into that
[1:15:25] Speaker 2: a little bit more. But De'Aaron Fox is... I thought
[1:15:30] Speaker 2: he was the point guard. I thought he was the leader.
[1:15:33] Speaker 2: And by the way, he averaged six assists during the year,
[1:15:35] Speaker 2: which is not great, but it's better than Dylan Harper.
[1:15:38] Speaker 2: He averaged three assists. So is Dylan Harper a pure
[1:15:41] Speaker 2: point guard, orchestrator? He's not. I don't see it. It's
[1:15:44] Speaker 2: not what he wants to be or do. And when
[1:15:48] Speaker 2: it finally got to push-come-to-shove in the finals... there's no
[1:15:53] Speaker 2: leadership there. There's no orchestrator. There's no veteran to say,
[1:15:57] Speaker 2: stop it. We're going to stop it right now. They're
[1:16:01] Speaker 2: not coming back on us this time. And I don't
[1:16:04] Speaker 2: know who that was, but that's the missing link is
[1:16:08] Speaker 2: there's nobody to say that's enough of that. And I
[1:16:12] Speaker 2: thought it was going to be De'Aaron because remember, they
[1:16:15] Speaker 2: gave him big money. He's And it doesn't start until
[1:16:19] Speaker 2: next year.
[1:16:19] Speaker 6: 222.
[1:16:19] Speaker 4: Yeah, starts next year, and he's.
[1:16:21] Speaker 2: Got four years at $ 55 million a year. You know, 222.
[1:16:25] Speaker 6: Wow.
[1:16:26] Speaker 4: Okay?
[1:16:28] Speaker 2: So you're kind of stuck with that, and he did
[1:16:33] Speaker 2: not produce to the level that they expected. I thought
[1:16:38] Speaker 2: when you guys went and got him, I thought that
[1:16:40] Speaker 2: was a magic move. I thought, okay, there you go.
[1:16:43] Speaker 6: There you go.
[1:16:43] Speaker 3: We just had Chris Paul.
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:16:45] Speaker 3: That was the rookie year.
[1:16:45] Speaker 6: Chris Paul was there.
[1:16:47] Speaker 2: That's true.
[1:16:47] Speaker 6: He was.
[1:16:47] Speaker 3: I forgot about Chris. Then you go get De'Aaron Fox,
[1:16:51] Speaker 3: but he gets hurt.
[1:16:52] Speaker 9: Yeah.
[1:16:52] Speaker 3: And then you're like, no Fox-Wimby preview. So then we
[1:16:56] Speaker 3: have to wait on that because Castle's there. Now we
[1:16:58] Speaker 3: get to see Castle play the Wimby, which was a
[1:17:01] Speaker 3: great preview.
[1:17:02] Speaker 6: It was.
[1:17:02] Speaker 3: And then you get Dylan Harper the next year because
[1:17:04] Speaker 3: you don't know if Fox is going to be healthy,
[1:17:06] Speaker 3: but you pay him.
[1:17:07] Speaker 1: You get the second pick. He's obviously.
[1:17:09] Speaker 3: And you pay him. And now it's like, okay, we
[1:17:12] Speaker 3: didn't know this kid was going to be the next Ginobili,
[1:17:15] Speaker 3: which is... If he's not a point guard, he has
[1:17:18] Speaker 3: to be the guy that just go gets you buckets.
[1:17:21] Speaker 3: You don't want to be Ginobili, I think. No, he
[1:17:23] Speaker 3: don't want to be Ginobili. Obviously, that's the mentality right now.
[1:17:27] Speaker 1: So let's get into Dylan Harper. Impressive throughout the season
[1:17:30] Speaker 1: and in the playoffs. Harper's 325 points this postseason, six
[1:17:33] Speaker 1: most by a rookie in an NBA playoff run. He
[1:17:35] Speaker 1: led all players with 289 points off the bench in
[1:17:38] Speaker 1: this playoffs. After the Spurs were eliminated, Devin Vassell gave
[1:17:42] Speaker 1: some interesting perspective about Harper's rookie season.
[1:17:46] Speaker 6: Dylan.
[1:17:47] Speaker 9: I think we all knew he was talented. I don't
[1:17:49] Speaker 9: know if anybody knew he was this talented, probably besides himself.
[1:17:54] Speaker 9: You know, he was upset with playing time and different
[1:17:57] Speaker 9: roles that he was in. But what we needed him most,
[1:18:00] Speaker 9: he stepped up. And we have a star in the making.
[1:18:03] Speaker 9: And I know that he's going to put so much
[1:18:05] Speaker 9: work into the offseason. It's not just offensively, but defensively
[1:18:08] Speaker 9: he's made a lot of plays. He's grown so much.
[1:18:11] Speaker 9: And what is he, 20, 21 years old? I mean,
[1:18:14] Speaker 9: the sky's the limit for him.
[1:18:17] Speaker 1: Like you guys mentioned, De'Aaron Fox set to enter the
[1:18:19] Speaker 1: first of his four-year $ 229 million contract extension next season.
[1:18:24] Speaker 1: But when you look at the situation, obviously there was
[1:18:27] Speaker 1: a lot of clamoring, a lot of calls for Mitch
[1:18:28] Speaker 1: Johnson to give Dylan Harper more active role. He did so,
[1:18:32] Speaker 1: but still kept De'Aaron Fox, was committed to him, kept
[1:18:34] Speaker 1: saying he was the guy, he was going to be
[1:18:35] Speaker 1: the guy with the ball in his hands. But is
[1:18:37] Speaker 1: it time for the Spurs to give the keys to
[1:18:39] Speaker 1: Dylan Harper, Mr. B?
[1:18:42] Speaker 4: Is it time to give Dylan Harper the keys? Yeah,
[1:18:46] Speaker 4: him and Castle.
[1:18:48] Speaker 7: I think after this year with the experience that they
[1:18:52] Speaker 7: went through in the finals, it didn't go their way,
[1:18:56] Speaker 7: but I think the future is bright with them. I
[1:18:58] Speaker 7: think they should try to find a way to get
[1:19:01] Speaker 7: off D-Fox. If I'm the Spurs, I'm going to try
[1:19:03] Speaker 7: to go after a Rudy or a Dyson Dyson Daniels
[1:19:08] Speaker 7: or someone like that because I need to be able
[1:19:10] Speaker 7: to save Wimby. And guys and a lot of bigs
[1:19:14] Speaker 7: and a lot of other teams are just going at
[1:19:16] Speaker 7: Wimby all the time. And I think just with that
[1:19:19] Speaker 7: extra defensive presence with Rudy, I think it just changes
[1:19:22] Speaker 7: everything for them. And then you have Castle and you
[1:19:24] Speaker 7: have Harper just playing downhill. And the way they play,
[1:19:28] Speaker 7: they're already putting on so much pressure. So that's the
[1:19:32] Speaker 7: route I'm going with it. And I'm starting Dylan Harper
[1:19:34] Speaker 7: next year.
[1:19:35] Speaker 5: I like that.
[1:19:36] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to you, Kenyon. Dylan Harper was able
[1:19:39] Speaker 1: to do this postseason, obviously emerged dominant force off the bench,
[1:19:44] Speaker 1: 25-piece in that game five, one of the few bright
[1:19:46] Speaker 1: spots for the Spurs throughout the finals. But do you
[1:19:49] Speaker 1: think it's time for the Spurs to give Dylan Harper
[1:19:50] Speaker 1: the keys and move on from De'Aaron Fox?
[1:19:53] Speaker 6: Yeah, he definitely should have played more in this postseason,
[1:19:56] Speaker 6: especially in the finals down the stretch. Being that De'Aaron
[1:20:00] Speaker 6: Fox is struggling. Yeah, I think they have a young core.
[1:20:08] Speaker 6: I think the dollar amount don't add up right now
[1:20:10] Speaker 6: to the production that, um, Darren Fox has given them
[1:20:13] Speaker 6: for what they need. Um, so yeah, I think it's
[1:20:16] Speaker 6: time to move on and yeah, just go young. Um,
[1:20:20] Speaker 6: those young guys can play. They proved it in this
[1:20:22] Speaker 6: post season. So it's not like you're giving keys to
[1:20:27] Speaker 6: somebody who hasn't proven that they can play. Right. So
[1:20:30] Speaker 6: I think they're in a comfortable spot. Um, adding a
[1:20:35] Speaker 6: few more pieces, but I think, yeah, another ball handler.
[1:20:40] Speaker 6: I think Dylan Harper grew up in this postseason where
[1:20:43] Speaker 6: he's earned that. He's earned the right to be the
[1:20:48] Speaker 6: future starting quote-unquote point guard for the Spurs. Him and
[1:20:56] Speaker 6: Castle both deserve to be in those spots. So, yeah,
[1:21:00] Speaker 6: it's time. I definitely think it's time for them to
[1:21:03] Speaker 6: make that decision and move off of Fox and plan
[1:21:07] Speaker 6: for the future.
[1:21:10] Speaker 1: So, Sean, when you look at the situation, it seems
[1:21:12] Speaker 1: like Darren Fox took a lot of the blame for
[1:21:14] Speaker 1: how the Spurs fared in the series. I mean, they
[1:21:16] Speaker 1: didn't trick off a 29-point lead. I can't put that
[1:21:20] Speaker 1: on Darren Fox. But late in those games, for a
[1:21:22] Speaker 1: player who's traditionally been clutch, one clutch player of the year,
[1:21:26] Speaker 1: you know, didn't go his way at times, we'll say.
[1:21:28] Speaker 1: But do you think it's time for the Spurs to
[1:21:30] Speaker 1: give Dylan Harper– the keys move him to the starting lineup,
[1:21:33] Speaker 1: increase his role for next season.
[1:21:36] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[1:21:36] Speaker 3: I think you can, you can move him to the
[1:21:39] Speaker 3: starting lineup without putting Fox on the bench. If Dylan
[1:21:44] Speaker 3: Harper is not a point guard and the way he
[1:21:48] Speaker 3: played point guard during the OKC series, when Fox was
[1:21:51] Speaker 3: down was not good. It did not look good. It
[1:21:54] Speaker 3: did not feel good. Cause both him and Castle will
[1:21:56] Speaker 3: turn over prone. They're not the best ball handlers. Um,
[1:22:01] Speaker 3: Case and Wallace was all over that shit with Dylan Harper.
[1:22:04] Speaker 3: And I was scared every time he brought it across court,
[1:22:06] Speaker 3: like he was going to get it taken from him.
[1:22:08] Speaker 3: And he got it taken from him a couple of times.
[1:22:10] Speaker 3: So you put Dylan Harper in situations where he can attack.
[1:22:15] Speaker 3: And if it's not a Russell Westbrook type of situation
[1:22:17] Speaker 3: where he's full speed going fast breaks and he's taking
[1:22:21] Speaker 3: advantage of the mismatches and you got him in the
[1:22:24] Speaker 3: half court, he has to take the Ginobili role. That's
[1:22:27] Speaker 3: where Fox comes in, where he actually runs the offense.
[1:22:30] Speaker 3: Fox felt like in the whole playoffs that he was
[1:22:33] Speaker 3: taking the backseat to run the offenses until the team
[1:22:36] Speaker 3: needed him. But when you take that much time off,
[1:22:39] Speaker 3: you get cold. And he got cold and wasn't able
[1:22:42] Speaker 3: to deliver when they needed him. So now as you're
[1:22:45] Speaker 3: thinking about him saying, man, I only took two shots
[1:22:48] Speaker 3: in the first half. I only took four shots in
[1:22:51] Speaker 3: the whole game. Or I only took nine shots. Man,
[1:22:54] Speaker 3: what you want me to do? I ain't really getting
[1:22:56] Speaker 3: my shit going. And so if we're depending on him
[1:22:59] Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter with the clutch gene compared to Sacramento,
[1:23:02] Speaker 3: he had the ball. He had a usage rate, which
[1:23:04] Speaker 3: is about 23, 25 or something like that, where he
[1:23:07] Speaker 3: had the ball most of the time. So you look
[1:23:10] Speaker 3: at now, he's like, how do you get Wimby involved,
[1:23:12] Speaker 3: Castle involved, Vassell and whoever else is in the starting
[1:23:16] Speaker 3: lineup while he's doing his thing? That's going to be
[1:23:20] Speaker 3: the sacrifice thing that they asked him to do when
[1:23:22] Speaker 3: he got there. So I think now I would play them.
[1:23:25] Speaker 6: I would play.
[1:23:27] Speaker 3: Fox, Harper, Castle, Vassell, Wimby, and we go small. Now,
[1:23:36] Speaker 3: if we need to change anything from that, Vassell comes out,
[1:23:39] Speaker 3: we go get us a big to play the four,
[1:23:41] Speaker 3: and we bring Vassell off the bench. Vassell doesn't need
[1:23:44] Speaker 3: to be the starter. Champagny doesn't need to be the starter.
[1:23:47] Speaker 3: You got Dylan Harper and Castle on the floor at
[1:23:49] Speaker 3: the same time with De'Aaron Fox and Wimby in an
[1:23:52] Speaker 3: anomaly who we don't know. You say fucking Rudy Gobert.
[1:23:57] Speaker 3: You go fucking get Rudy Gobert to be the starting
[1:23:59] Speaker 3: center with Wimby playing the four, that's twin towers. That's dangerous.
[1:24:04] Speaker 4: And you say he wants to be a guard.
[1:24:05] Speaker 5: Right.
[1:24:06] Speaker 3: Or you go get somebody like a– I'm just throwing
[1:24:09] Speaker 3: somebody out there. I'm not saying it's going to be
[1:24:11] Speaker 3: a good thing, but like an Andre Drummond, a big
[1:24:14] Speaker 3: that can play the four, that can just move around
[1:24:17] Speaker 3: and be a guy. I mean, you're talking about somebody
[1:24:20] Speaker 3: that can go out there and just be a space eater.
[1:24:24] Speaker 3: And they let the rest of those guys do what
[1:24:26] Speaker 3: they do. And, I mean, I don't think De'Aaron Fox
[1:24:28] Speaker 3: needs to move out of the start lineup, especially you're
[1:24:31] Speaker 3: paying him 50. You're paying him 50, you don't bring
[1:24:34] Speaker 3: him off the bench.
[1:24:35] Speaker 7: I mean, your assistant coach just got the job. Sweetie
[1:24:37] Speaker 7: just got the job on Orlando.
[1:24:39] Speaker 4: Shit. Gerald Landon could use De'Fox.
[1:24:41] Speaker 6: They need a point guard.
[1:24:42] Speaker 5: So?
[1:24:43] Speaker 3: Anthony Black.
[1:24:44] Speaker 6: They need a point guard.
[1:24:46] Speaker 10: I'm just saying, like, for what you can get for De'Fox.
[1:24:50] Speaker 10: There's also some discussion. Yeah, they can go get Desk. Francois,
[1:24:54] Speaker 10: they can go get him. I like him in that spot. Wagner.
[1:24:58] Speaker 3: With the Spurs?
[1:25:01] Speaker 6: With Wimby for Fox. I like that.
[1:25:02] Speaker 4: Over there in Orlando.
[1:25:03] Speaker 6: I don't like Rudy. I don't like Rudy in that situation.
[1:25:05] Speaker 4: He's in the way. Nah, defensively? I'm telling you, defensively?
[1:25:13] Speaker 7: Because the other bigs that you got over there.
[1:25:16] Speaker 4: That's back in the NBA ain't like that.
[1:25:18] Speaker 3: Cornette is solid.
[1:25:21] Speaker 5: I know, but what I'm saying is you got two
[1:25:25] Speaker 5: defensive dudes.
[1:25:26] Speaker 4: Just throw the ball up, bro.
[1:25:28] Speaker 6: The way the NBA is now, it ain't the old
[1:25:31] Speaker 6: NBA where you can have all them bigs on the roster, man.
[1:25:33] Speaker 6: Game spread out.
[1:25:35] Speaker 4: They can move.
[1:25:35] Speaker 6: Wide open. But we needed them, though.
[1:25:37] Speaker 4: I know.
[1:25:38] Speaker 6: They can move.
[1:25:38] Speaker 3: In the OKC series, we needed another big because they
[1:25:41] Speaker 3: were pushing that motherfucker around Harkestan.
[1:25:43] Speaker 6: And he ain't the issue. He ain't the answer.
[1:25:45] Speaker 5: Who?
[1:25:46] Speaker 2: Rudy.
[1:25:47] Speaker 6: He was burping babies. He was burping babies.
[1:25:50] Speaker 4: I'm about to say, he got your guy up.
[1:25:53] Speaker 6: Out of here. He's good on the team that he
[1:25:55] Speaker 6: is on.
[1:25:56] Speaker 4: No, he got your guy up out of here.
[1:25:57] Speaker 6: He got him out of here.
[1:25:59] Speaker 3: He was kidding.
[1:25:59] Speaker 4: Play well.
[1:26:00] Speaker 6: The number's still the same. What are y'all talking about?
[1:26:02] Speaker 3: Play well, man.
[1:26:03] Speaker 4: The number's still the same.
[1:26:04] Speaker 6: Play well.
[1:26:04] Speaker 3: The number's still the same.
[1:26:05] Speaker 6: He played well, man.
[1:26:06] Speaker 3: He played well.
[1:26:07] Speaker 7: That's all they needed, them to go over there and
[1:26:10] Speaker 7: play well.
[1:26:11] Speaker 6: Go play well.
[1:26:12] Speaker 4: He and the way. He and the way.
[1:26:17] Speaker 6: Them dudes play downhill. Cal's not a jump shooter. He's
[1:26:20] Speaker 6: a downhill player. Dillaharp is a downhill player. All they
[1:26:23] Speaker 6: got to do, they in the way. Rudy will be
[1:26:25] Speaker 6: in the way. You need somebody that's space to floor,
[1:26:28] Speaker 6: somebody that can do both. You need somebody like Aaron Gordon,
[1:26:31] Speaker 6: Franz Wagner. You need somebody of that nature that can
[1:26:33] Speaker 6: knock down shots, that can play in the dunker. You
[1:26:35] Speaker 6: need somebody that can do both. Rudy, ass is in
[1:26:38] Speaker 6: the way. He in the way on the team that
[1:26:39] Speaker 6: he's on.
[1:26:40] Speaker 3: No, he's not.
[1:26:41] Speaker 5: They both in the way, though. Fox in the way, though.
[1:26:44] Speaker 5: When everybody go burn away, I say trick them. Both
[1:26:48] Speaker 5: of them for each other. Who, Fox or Go-Burr? How
[1:26:51] Speaker 5: much Go-Burr make?
[1:26:52] Speaker 4: I like Fox and Orlando, but I do like them.
[1:26:55] Speaker 5: They both want to get rid of these people? Get
[1:26:58] Speaker 5: rid of Go-Burr? You get a chance to get a
[1:27:01] Speaker 5: point guard. You ain't got no point guard.
[1:27:03] Speaker 6: Fox and Orlando make sense.
[1:27:05] Speaker 7: Because I'm telling you, Fox, I just don't, just the
[1:27:07] Speaker 7: pressure with them young guards.
[1:27:08] Speaker 6: Because you forced Apollo to have to be a pick-and-roll
[1:27:11] Speaker 6: player late in games and all that, and teams playing
[1:27:13] Speaker 6: him a certain way.
[1:27:15] Speaker 4: I just need Fox to get back into that Sacramento.
[1:27:17] Speaker 5: If you're trying to get rid of Gobert, you don't
[1:27:21] Speaker 5: need him. Both teams don't need the person they hate.
[1:27:24] Speaker 3: You don't want to put Anthony Edwards in that pressure
[1:27:26] Speaker 3: position and have him point guard and score the ball.
[1:27:29] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:27:29] Speaker 3: Do all that shit.
[1:27:30] Speaker 4: He is the point.
[1:27:31] Speaker 6: And bring it up.
[1:27:32] Speaker 3: He do it anyway.
[1:27:33] Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. You can move him again.
[1:27:34] Speaker 6: He do it anyway.
[1:27:35] Speaker 3: I like Fox with Ant. But you're going to have
[1:27:39] Speaker 3: to bring somebody. If you're losing, go bear it. You've
[1:27:41] Speaker 3: got to get the big. You've got to get somebody.
[1:27:43] Speaker 3: You can't just depend on Junior. You've got to be.
[1:27:45] Speaker 6: Perhaps.
[1:27:46] Speaker 3: Or not. He's good on the team he owns.
[1:27:47] Speaker 6: Like Rudy's good on the team he owns. He fits
[1:27:53] Speaker 6: that team well.
[1:27:55] Speaker 5: We don't want him over there.
[1:27:56] Speaker 6: He fits that team well.
[1:27:58] Speaker 3: He fits Minnesota. He ain't got it done with them.
[1:28:00] Speaker 3: They fell short every time. And then it's been because.
[1:28:03] Speaker 3: Then it has.
[1:28:04] Speaker 6: So you're going to praise him for playing well against Joker,
[1:28:07] Speaker 6: but it's his fault because they ain't winning.
[1:28:09] Speaker 3: When they lost to Dallas. When they lost to Dallas.
[1:28:11] Speaker 3: And they switched out on them. And they blamed Rudy. Rudy,
[1:28:16] Speaker 3: you the defensive player of the year.
[1:28:18] Speaker 6: So you.
[1:28:19] Speaker 3: You can't guard a nigga out there.
[1:28:20] Speaker 6: He hit the shot on you.
[1:28:21] Speaker 3: Why?
[1:28:22] Speaker 6: You're going back two years ago. You're going back two
[1:28:24] Speaker 6: years ago.
[1:28:24] Speaker 3: Yes, yes. You played well against Jokic, but my nigga,
[1:28:28] Speaker 3: you ain't got, you ain't helped them get over the hump.
[1:28:31] Speaker 6: So you worried about him switching out their own guard.
[1:28:33] Speaker 6: I'm just saying you ain't got to. You worried about
[1:28:35] Speaker 6: him switching on a guard. No, that was what you
[1:28:37] Speaker 6: were saying. You supposed to be.
[1:28:39] Speaker 3: Switching out on a guard. if you defensive player of
[1:28:41] Speaker 3: the year you supposed to be able to guard a
[1:28:42] Speaker 3: guy out there so he's good.
[1:28:43] Speaker 6: On the team that he's on no I don't think
[1:28:45] Speaker 6: he should be out there on the perimeter switched out
[1:28:47] Speaker 6: on him it was dumb defense whoever designed it up
[1:28:49] Speaker 6: to put him out there to switch it was dumb
[1:28:53] Speaker 6: shouldn't have never been in that situation from the beginning
[1:28:56] Speaker 6: I don't think he's that dominant of a post defender
[1:28:59] Speaker 6: to not to have four-time defensive player of the year
[1:29:01] Speaker 6: is what I said. But like I said, I don't
[1:29:05] Speaker 6: think that is a good situation. I like a move
[1:29:09] Speaker 6: for the Spurs to get somebody else in that spot,
[1:29:11] Speaker 6: another big, but I don't know if Rudy is that answer.
[1:29:15] Speaker 6: I just think he in the way. I like Rudy
[1:29:17] Speaker 6: on the team he's on. He does well for that team.
[1:29:20] Speaker 6: What they need defensively and he good on that team. Right,
[1:29:25] Speaker 6: he was good in Utah for that reason. He was
[1:29:28] Speaker 6: good in Minnesota for that reason.
[1:29:30] Speaker 3: Come win with us. Come help us win. We didn't
[1:29:33] Speaker 3: win there. We didn't win over here. Play with us
[1:29:37] Speaker 3: and win with us.
[1:29:38] Speaker 2: I thought you loved Luke Cornett.
[1:29:41] Speaker 4: I do.
[1:29:41] Speaker 2: They were selling t-shirts with his picture on them.
[1:29:43] Speaker 3: He played so bad in the finals. He played so
[1:29:47] Speaker 3: bad in the finals. He played so bad. He couldn't
[1:29:51] Speaker 3: catch the ball.
[1:29:52] Speaker 2: So did a bunch of people. 100%.
[1:29:53] Speaker 3: But Luke has always been solid.
[1:29:56] Speaker 6: He was not solid. He was not solid. So what's
[1:29:59] Speaker 6: the reason that they got Luke Cornett over there, Bismack, Plumlee, Olenek.
[1:30:06] Speaker 6: It's a waste.
[1:30:08] Speaker 3: You got a whole slew of bigs over there.
[1:30:13] Speaker 6: Give me Rudy. Watch out.
[1:30:15] Speaker 3: Rudy, come on over here.
[1:30:17] Speaker 4: Oh, y'all.
[1:30:18] Speaker 6: Just for Rudy.
[1:30:19] Speaker 3: It changes everything. That changes everything.
[1:30:21] Speaker 7: Like you said, we got all them big four.
[1:30:23] Speaker 6: Y'all can go, man.
[1:30:24] Speaker 4: Get out of here.
[1:30:25] Speaker 5: That's how the Lakers won that year.
[1:30:28] Speaker 4: Somebody will take it.
[1:30:29] Speaker 5: AD and Dwight and JaVale, they was big to the mother.
[1:30:32] Speaker 6: And Boogie, too. Boogie Cousins was over there, too. They
[1:30:34] Speaker 6: was big to the mother. All of them were all-stars, perennial,
[1:30:40] Speaker 6: all-NBA players. Plumlee, Bismack, Olenek, ain't... Cornette don't fit none
[1:30:48] Speaker 6: of that.
[1:30:48] Speaker 5: Rudy is an all-star, four-time defensive player.
[1:30:55] Speaker 6: Of the year.
[1:30:55] Speaker 3: We will pull him over here. Y'all can move. Come on, Rudy.
[1:31:00] Speaker 4: Come on, Rudy.
[1:31:02] Speaker 6: Rudy, Rudy, Rudy. And y'all playing four on five on
[1:31:06] Speaker 6: offense again.
[1:31:08] Speaker 4: Just come set this place.
[1:31:09] Speaker 6: Yes, and roll.
[1:31:10] Speaker 4: Roll.
[1:31:11] Speaker 6: Roll.
[1:31:11] Speaker 3: And whip your ass out here because you want to
[1:31:14] Speaker 3: see dark. That's a cold. Hey, now that I think
[1:31:17] Speaker 3: about it.
[1:31:18] Speaker 6: Hey, Dylan Harper, come on. Roll. Clean it up every time.
[1:31:22] Speaker 6: How has that worked? That would be crazy. How does
[1:31:25] Speaker 6: that work?
[1:31:26] Speaker 8: Where?
[1:31:26] Speaker 6: Wherever Wimby has been. They roll straight to the rim.
[1:31:29] Speaker 3: No, no.
[1:31:29] Speaker 6: I'm talking about for Rudy. How does that work?
[1:31:33] Speaker 4: Well, I mean, well, he has Mike Conley up here.
[1:31:36] Speaker 6: How has it worked?
[1:31:37] Speaker 4: I mean, he has Mike Conley.
[1:31:38] Speaker 3: I mean, well, they got to the finals.
[1:31:39] Speaker 6: They got to the finals.
[1:31:41] Speaker 4: Back to back. So that's what we aim for.
[1:31:46] Speaker 6: I thought y'all was all about winning and legacy. We
[1:31:48] Speaker 6: just said he hasn't won.
[1:31:49] Speaker 3: That's why he.
[1:31:50] Speaker 6: Should leave because he hasn't won. But I asked you
[1:31:52] Speaker 6: how is that rolling to the front of the rim
[1:31:54] Speaker 6: and all that shit work when, like I said, teams
[1:31:56] Speaker 6: have played four on five. They don't guard him. So.
[1:32:00] Speaker 3: The Lakers tried to guard him, and they got whooped.
[1:32:03] Speaker 6: It'll be the same thing over there. It'll be the
[1:32:04] Speaker 6: same thing over there. You don't have to guard him
[1:32:06] Speaker 6: on the other end. He is who he is defensively, yes,
[1:32:08] Speaker 6: but you don't have to guard him on the other end.
[1:32:10] Speaker 6: But they don't have a... Go to the front of
[1:32:12] Speaker 6: the rim, and when the game is on the line,
[1:32:13] Speaker 6: Rudy has to go get him.
[1:32:14] Speaker 3: The Timberwolves don't have a Wimby to shoot the three
[1:32:16] Speaker 3: like that. They got Nas Reed out there, but they
[1:32:19] Speaker 3: rarely play him and Nas Reed at the same time.
[1:32:22] Speaker 3: So you're talking about Wimby and motherfucking....
[1:32:25] Speaker 6: Go Bear with.
[1:32:26] Speaker 3: De'Aaron Fox or Castle or Harper in a pick and
[1:32:30] Speaker 3: roll going downhill and rooting you in the way.
[1:32:33] Speaker 6: Throw the ball up and dunk it.
[1:32:36] Speaker 7: If you get the rebound, pass it back out, come
[1:32:38] Speaker 7: set the screen, roll again, get out.
[1:32:40] Speaker 3: He averaged single digits.
[1:32:43] Speaker 6: Every year. All that roll to the front of the rim,
[1:32:46] Speaker 6: throw it up, he averaged single digits.
[1:32:47] Speaker 4: The defense would be unbelievable.
[1:32:49] Speaker 3: Now you got to play on the other end.
[1:32:51] Speaker 4: No, we don't.
[1:32:52] Speaker 3: We don't.
[1:32:52] Speaker 6: We still got to play on the other end, though.
[1:32:54] Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
[1:32:57] Speaker 6: You still got to play on the other end.
[1:33:01] Speaker 3: And you said Rudy averaged single digits?
[1:33:03] Speaker 6: I like him on the team that he's on.
[1:33:04] Speaker 3: You said Rudy averaged single digits?
[1:33:06] Speaker 6: Okay, 10.
[1:33:07] Speaker 3: 14, 16, 15. This fast season, what did he average?
[1:33:12] Speaker 6: He averaged 11. Okay. Oh, shit.
[1:33:14] Speaker 4: 12, 14.
[1:33:15] Speaker 3: Like, he's– and then those rebounds.
[1:33:18] Speaker 6: Okay, he's rebounded. I said defensive is what it is.
[1:33:20] Speaker 3: Double, double. We need a double, double guy. Those points
[1:33:23] Speaker 3: are coming from lobs. Them ain't jump hooks. Them are
[1:33:27] Speaker 3: offensive rebounds and lobs.
[1:33:29] Speaker 6: Yes, on that team that he's on.
[1:33:30] Speaker 3: So the Spurs could not use an offensive rebounding threat?
[1:33:34] Speaker 6: They got– yeah. Not him. Not him. Listen, I'm telling you.
[1:33:39] Speaker 6: I agree with this.
[1:33:40] Speaker 4: You don't like him.
[1:33:41] Speaker 6: I'm saying he's good on the team that he's on.
[1:33:42] Speaker 3: He's better with the Spurs.
[1:33:45] Speaker 6: He's good on the team that he's on. I think
[1:33:46] Speaker 6: his job is easier. Huh?
[1:33:48] Speaker 5: Way easier.
[1:33:48] Speaker 6: His job is easier.
[1:33:49] Speaker 4: What?
[1:33:49] Speaker 6: And he's sealed.
[1:33:50] Speaker 3: And he actually sealed.
[1:33:51] Speaker 2: Him and Wimby would be out there.
[1:33:52] Speaker 6: He can't catch it. He can't catch it. Him and
[1:33:54] Speaker 6: Wimby would be out there. Bro, we'll be out to
[1:33:56] Speaker 6: hold the people and shit.
[1:33:57] Speaker 4: Bro, they be out there, bro.
[1:33:58] Speaker 3: Throw it to me.
[1:34:00] Speaker 6: Stretch your hands. Stretch it out. Play the zone. That back?
[1:34:02] Speaker 6: That's on the defensive end.
[1:34:04] Speaker 4: But defense wins games, though.
[1:34:05] Speaker 6: With Castle and Harper playing defense like that? What have
[1:34:08] Speaker 6: teams done to him in order, like, just Rudy, right?
[1:34:11] Speaker 6: This defensive player of the year. When it's time, when
[1:34:14] Speaker 6: the game is on the line, this great four-time defensive
[1:34:18] Speaker 6: player of the year that we're speaking of, what do
[1:34:20] Speaker 6: teams do to him?
[1:34:21] Speaker 3: Put him in pick and roll.
[1:34:22] Speaker 6: Put him on the island, right? Bring him away from
[1:34:24] Speaker 6: the basket. And then what do teams have to do?
[1:34:26] Speaker 3: Then what do, then what? Make him drive. Because you
[1:34:28] Speaker 3: have another shot blocker. You can tell him to play
[1:34:31] Speaker 3: up because he's not the only defender.
[1:34:32] Speaker 6: No. Yes.
[1:34:34] Speaker 3: That's exactly what we do.
[1:34:35] Speaker 6: And you got Castle and everybody else.
[1:34:36] Speaker 3: And you got Castle and them in the– That sounds good.
[1:34:40] Speaker 6: That's easy. He's been the best defender. He's been the
[1:34:43] Speaker 6: other team's best defender. Now they got to take him
[1:34:45] Speaker 6: off the floor because he can't go out to pick
[1:34:47] Speaker 6: and roll.
[1:34:47] Speaker 4: Not now?
[1:34:48] Speaker 6: Not with Wimpy out there.
[1:34:49] Speaker 3: He ain't getting better at it. The reason they got
[1:34:54] Speaker 3: him is because they don't got another defender.
[1:34:56] Speaker 6: Because he can't be up.
[1:34:58] Speaker 4: Now Wimby is able to roam now.
[1:35:01] Speaker 6: Rudy ain't been up on one screen.
[1:35:03] Speaker 7: I'm saying for Wimby, I'm telling you, it's going to
[1:35:06] Speaker 7: help Wimby out a lot.
[1:35:07] Speaker 6: I don't like it.
[1:35:09] Speaker 4: 100%. It's going to help Wimby out a lot. Foul trouble,
[1:35:11] Speaker 4: all that stuff. Hey, man, you go up there.
[1:35:12] Speaker 3: You go. What's up? We got Rudy just to take it.
[1:35:16] Speaker 3: We taking away the ball.
[1:35:17] Speaker 6: He on that back. He on that back.
[1:35:18] Speaker 4: Oh, my.
[1:35:19] Speaker 3: That's 20 rebounds a game right there for both of them. Easy.
[1:35:21] Speaker 5: Easy.
[1:35:24] Speaker 6: Yeah, because he averaged 13 and the other guy averaged.
[1:35:29] Speaker 2: So let me ask you this. You got me thinking
[1:35:32] Speaker 2: about who is the Spurs point guard, and it should
[1:35:37] Speaker 2: be De'Aaron Fox. I'm not sure it is, but it
[1:35:40] Speaker 2: almost has to be going forward. But then I start
[1:35:43] Speaker 2: thinking about the Knicks. Who's the Knicks point guard? Is
[1:35:47] Speaker 2: it Jalen Brunson?
[1:35:48] Speaker 4: Yes.
[1:35:48] Speaker 2: He averaged four assists a game in the finals, and
[1:35:51] Speaker 2: they won... In five games.
[1:35:53] Speaker 3: He's their point guard, though.
[1:35:56] Speaker 2: He's not a high-level distributor because he's four assists. We're
[1:36:01] Speaker 2: not talking about Jason Kidd here or John Stockton. It's
[1:36:05] Speaker 2: like we've had a little bit of the death of
[1:36:10] Speaker 2: the point guard as we knew it, I still think
[1:36:13] Speaker 2: LeBron is still the best passer in the league to me.
[1:36:16] Speaker 2: That's his greatest strength is he can still, if he
[1:36:20] Speaker 2: will go out there, now Luke has taken the ball
[1:36:22] Speaker 2: out of his hands, but he can get you 10
[1:36:24] Speaker 2: assists a night like that because that's what he does.
[1:36:27] Speaker 2: That's his biggest gift to me is seeing it before
[1:36:31] Speaker 2: it happens, bounce pass where he'll make two or three
[1:36:34] Speaker 2: passes a night where I'll say, God, you know, like
[1:36:37] Speaker 2: that's just... That's just rare. Can't teach it, can't coach it.
[1:36:41] Speaker 2: But I don't see that ever from Jalen Brunson. He'll
[1:36:44] Speaker 2: make a pass here or there, but it's not what
[1:36:46] Speaker 2: he does. But the difference in the five games was
[1:36:49] Speaker 2: when push came to shove in the fourth quarter, Jalen
[1:36:51] Speaker 2: Brunson just said, give me the damn ball and get
[1:36:53] Speaker 2: out of my way because I'll just make it happen.
[1:36:56] Speaker 2: Some way I'll make it happen, mostly scoring it, maybe
[1:36:59] Speaker 2: passing it. But Dylan Harper, in the last two games,
[1:37:04] Speaker 2: they tried to let him take over down the stretch
[1:37:07] Speaker 2: of those games, and he wasn't ready because he's a baby.
[1:37:11] Speaker 2: You know, like this was all new. What is he, 20?
[1:37:14] Speaker 6: 20.
[1:37:15] Speaker 2: And he's playing in the NBA Finals, and they're saying, here,
[1:37:18] Speaker 2: you do it. And his minutes kept going up and
[1:37:20] Speaker 2: up like he ended up averaging for the five games,
[1:37:23] Speaker 2: 31 minutes. In the last two games, he played big
[1:37:27] Speaker 2: fourth-quarter minutes and but I'm looking at his fourth quarter
[1:37:30] Speaker 2: numbers for the five games, and they're horrible. He shot
[1:37:34] Speaker 2: it poorly in the fourth quarter. He didn't make one three.
[1:37:36] Speaker 6: He gets a pass.
[1:37:38] Speaker 2: Okay, he does, but we saw the flashes. You guys
[1:37:43] Speaker 2: have been talking about it. As a shot creator at
[1:37:46] Speaker 2: the rim, man, it's like he's up there in the
[1:37:49] Speaker 2: upper echelon of the league already. As a baby, he's
[1:37:52] Speaker 2: doing this at the rim, where you're saying, how'd he
[1:37:55] Speaker 2: do that? But The truth is, so far, he's a
[1:37:59] Speaker 2: pretty horrible three-point shooter. I know he made a couple
[1:38:02] Speaker 2: against Oklahoma City that shocked me because he shoots line drives,
[1:38:05] Speaker 2: you know, that left-handed line drive. He made one in
[1:38:08] Speaker 2: Game 7 where I was like, God, where'd that come from?
[1:38:11] Speaker 2: But in the finals, he was 7 of 25, so
[1:38:14] Speaker 2: that's 28%. And in the fourth quarters, he went 0
[1:38:18] Speaker 2: for 3 in all the five fourth quarters. So he
[1:38:23] Speaker 2: is not an orchestrator, but– But I guess you say
[1:38:27] Speaker 2: Jalen Brunson's an orchestrator who's going to score more than
[1:38:31] Speaker 2: he's going to pass it, right? And that's how they
[1:38:33] Speaker 2: do it. That's how they do it. That's how they
[1:38:35] Speaker 2: get away.
[1:38:36] Speaker 6: That's the game now.
[1:38:37] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. That's where I was trying to go.
[1:38:39] Speaker 2: Is that what has happened to this game of basketball
[1:38:44] Speaker 2: where there's no– you don't see true points.
[1:38:47] Speaker 3: You don't see– Jalen is a true point in college.
[1:38:50] Speaker 2: In college he was.
[1:38:51] Speaker 3: So he has the essence of what it is. But
[1:38:54] Speaker 3: now he sees the league and the evolution of what
[1:38:57] Speaker 3: he can take advantage of, which is his ability to
[1:39:00] Speaker 3: create off the dribble, get to his spots and all
[1:39:03] Speaker 3: of those things. This is what other guys in the
[1:39:05] Speaker 3: league have done at his position. Instead of facilitating, I
[1:39:10] Speaker 3: am the attack point. I am going to be the
[1:39:12] Speaker 3: initiator and not the facilitator. Let me initiate. Now this
[1:39:17] Speaker 3: is a league full of initiators from the Tyrees, Maxis,
[1:39:20] Speaker 3: to those type of guards that come in and say
[1:39:23] Speaker 3: Trey Young. Even though Trey is a facilitator, he'll initiate
[1:39:27] Speaker 3: and try to figure it out.
[1:39:28] Speaker 6: He does.
[1:39:28] Speaker 3: But these are just— Yeah, he's very rare. Very rare.
[1:39:33] Speaker 3: And the ability to do that like a Tyrese Maxey
[1:39:36] Speaker 3: to make sure that you're going to respect my scoring
[1:39:38] Speaker 3: ability for Jalen Brunson the same way. Dylan Harper can
[1:39:41] Speaker 3: be the same way. Respect my scoring ability first. But
[1:39:46] Speaker 3: what we never seen from him, especially from college, because
[1:39:49] Speaker 3: he didn't play long enough for us to say he
[1:39:50] Speaker 3: can pass or he can facilitate or he can get
[1:39:53] Speaker 3: his teammates involved. He's been put in a specific role
[1:39:56] Speaker 3: to come in like Vinnie Johnson. Go get us buckets.
[1:39:59] Speaker 3: Don't worry about nothing else. Play the game the right way,
[1:40:02] Speaker 3: young fella. But go do what you do best, defense
[1:40:05] Speaker 3: and attack the rim. Okay.
[1:40:07] Speaker 2: So the days of Magic Johnson and the Showtime Lakers
[1:40:10] Speaker 2: are way gone.
[1:40:12] Speaker 6: No, I don't think so. But do you need a.
[1:40:14] Speaker 2: Traditional point guard with me?
[1:40:16] Speaker 3: What's that?
[1:40:16] Speaker 6: Do you need a traditional point guard? I think so.
[1:40:19] Speaker 3: Like a Chris Paul.
[1:40:19] Speaker 6: I would think so. Well, you need somebody who's slow.
[1:40:22] Speaker 2: In his prime, you needed him, but you didn't need
[1:40:23] Speaker 2: him at the end when he crossed over with him, right?
[1:40:27] Speaker 6: No, I think Chris Paul was helpful to Winby. Because
[1:40:29] Speaker 6: he knows how to get him the ball.
[1:40:31] Speaker 4: Okay.
[1:40:32] Speaker 6: I think just personally, even whatever Chris Paul's personality is
[1:40:37] Speaker 6: in the locker room, I think they moved on too
[1:40:40] Speaker 6: fast from it.
[1:40:41] Speaker 3: Maybe.
[1:40:41] Speaker 6: I think so. To help Winby out in that. I
[1:40:44] Speaker 6: think he could have used another year with him.
[1:40:47] Speaker 3: I think Chris moved on.
[1:40:49] Speaker 4: I think they win it.
[1:40:50] Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it's a different look. Because Chris Paul
[1:40:53] Speaker 6: is your... Point guards, point guard. He's going to make
[1:40:57] Speaker 6: sure Wimby gets the ball where he's effective. He's not
[1:41:01] Speaker 6: going to throw him the ball at 30 feet and
[1:41:04] Speaker 6: be like, big fella, go get a bucket. You know
[1:41:06] Speaker 6: what I'm saying? He's going to run the right play,
[1:41:08] Speaker 6: the right pick and roll, the right situation. And he
[1:41:11] Speaker 6: going to tell him, when I throw you this ball
[1:41:13] Speaker 6: in his pocket, no, shoot it. Right? Because Chris Paul,
[1:41:18] Speaker 6: he wants that assist.
[1:41:20] Speaker 4: He does.
[1:41:20] Speaker 6: I throw it to you, shoot it. I throw it
[1:41:22] Speaker 6: to you, shoot it. I don't need you out there bump, bump,
[1:41:26] Speaker 6: four dribbles and then trying to get down here. I'm
[1:41:28] Speaker 6: going to put you in a situation to be successful,
[1:41:31] Speaker 6: I think. is what winby was missing in this post
[1:41:34] Speaker 6: he was so i.
[1:41:35] Speaker 3: Helped chris paul was definitely helpful think it is chris
[1:41:39] Speaker 3: paul did not go to san antonio to win a
[1:41:42] Speaker 3: championship i know he would yeah so he missed out
[1:41:45] Speaker 3: on this particular scenario because it wasn't something that anybody's
[1:41:48] Speaker 3: seen in the future you know which is why he
[1:41:50] Speaker 3: moved on from the spurs because it was seemingly a
[1:41:53] Speaker 3: graveyard 15 and 50. It was like, yo, I can't.
[1:41:58] Speaker 3: I'm not going to end my career here. I'm trying
[1:42:01] Speaker 3: to go win somewhere. So hindsight, what you're saying, if
[1:42:04] Speaker 3: he were to do it again, he definitely would have stayed.
[1:42:07] Speaker 3: Because they showed him love, one, and then the Clippers
[1:42:10] Speaker 3: did it.
[1:42:10] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:42:11] Speaker 3: What the fuck just happened with the Clippers? They love
[1:42:13] Speaker 3: me in San Antonio.
[1:42:15] Speaker 6: They love me.
[1:42:17] Speaker 3: Played all 82 games.
[1:42:18] Speaker 1: Winby loves him. I mean, from everything we can see. Yeah,
[1:42:20] Speaker 1: that's what I'm saying.
[1:42:21] Speaker 6: I just think he would have benefited from a young Me,
[1:42:25] Speaker 6: from experience, right? Mm-hmm. My second year, I got Jason Kidd.
[1:42:29] Speaker 5: All right.
[1:42:31] Speaker 3: Pass first guard.
[1:42:32] Speaker 6: Pass first guard. Post-ups, right? No, that ain't a post-up cake.
[1:42:37] Speaker 6: Get your ass on the block.
[1:42:38] Speaker 5: Right.
[1:42:40] Speaker 6: His words to me, listen, I'm getting pushed off the block. No,
[1:42:43] Speaker 6: I'm not throwing it to you.
[1:42:44] Speaker 3: I ain't giving it to you.
[1:42:46] Speaker 6: I ain't giving it to you.
[1:42:47] Speaker 2: No.
[1:42:47] Speaker 6: If you want the ball, you're going to do what
[1:42:49] Speaker 6: you have to do. It was that, right?
[1:42:51] Speaker 5: Facts.
[1:42:52] Speaker 6: It helped me as a young big in this league
[1:42:54] Speaker 6: to have somebody who was a pass-first guard that was defensive-minded,
[1:42:59] Speaker 6: who I respected in the game. And I think that
[1:43:02] Speaker 6: was the same relationship that they had.
[1:43:04] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[1:43:05] Speaker 6: Darren Fox, yes. Younger, yes. All of those things, yes,
[1:43:10] Speaker 6: at the time. But I just think if we're talking
[1:43:12] Speaker 6: just purely basketball, Chris Paul was the best fit for
[1:43:16] Speaker 6: the young core that they had. They needed an extra voice.
[1:43:21] Speaker 6: It could be too much at times, as we saw
[1:43:23] Speaker 6: with the Clippers. It could be too much. But I
[1:43:27] Speaker 6: think it was beneficial, the time that they spent. I
[1:43:30] Speaker 6: just think they could have gave it one more year.
[1:43:32] Speaker 1: And, you know.
[1:43:33] Speaker 6: You wouldn't have lost anything, I don't think.
[1:43:36] Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it's time for Fox to go.
[1:43:38] Speaker 6: Play all 82 games at the age he was and
[1:43:41] Speaker 6: all that. You're not looking for big minutes from him
[1:43:42] Speaker 6: because you still got all them young dogs you had.
[1:43:45] Speaker 1: Let's discuss one more thing before we wrap up for
[1:43:49] Speaker 1: the day. So, Wimby been the subject of discussion and
[1:43:51] Speaker 1: criticism throughout the postseason. Some of his comments have rubbed
[1:43:54] Speaker 1: people the wrong way. Draymond Green recently offered his thoughts
[1:43:57] Speaker 1: about the alien with the following post on Threads. Let's
[1:44:01] Speaker 1: take a look at what Draymond had to say. Wimby
[1:44:02] Speaker 1: is a bit cocky. Most great players are, kind of
[1:44:05] Speaker 1: requires a bit of that. However, I don't think he's
[1:44:08] Speaker 1: as cocky as people are starting to make him out
[1:44:10] Speaker 1: to be. You have to remember English is his second language,
[1:44:13] Speaker 1: possibly third. He's getting straight to the point with his words.
[1:44:16] Speaker 1: It's very direct due to language, not cockiness. So Swaggy,
[1:44:20] Speaker 1: I ask you, your former teammate.
[1:44:22] Speaker 4: I agree.
[1:44:23] Speaker 5: Why do I have to be the first one?
[1:44:24] Speaker 3: Because you're the Wimby hater.
[1:44:26] Speaker 6: You are our expert on all things Wimby.
[1:44:28] Speaker 3: What?
[1:44:29] Speaker 6: Don't shy away now.
[1:44:32] Speaker 1: You've spoken out about what Wimby has said previously on
[1:44:34] Speaker 1: this couch, but is Draymond spitting or tripping with his
[1:44:36] Speaker 1: Wimby take?
[1:44:38] Speaker 5: I don't know if Draymond, but he's tripping right now.
[1:44:40] Speaker 5: He's saying the man can't speak English. That's why he's
[1:44:43] Speaker 5: getting straight to the point. I done seen him elbow
[1:44:47] Speaker 5: and then elbow somebody and clap on the way out.
[1:44:50] Speaker 5: You know what he's doing.
[1:44:52] Speaker 3: So, yeah.
[1:44:54] Speaker 4: You're very direct.
[1:44:56] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:44:57] Speaker 1: His elbows are the second language as well.
[1:45:00] Speaker 5: He know damn well what he's doing. He just said,
[1:45:03] Speaker 5: see y'all never or some shit. He learning on the go.
[1:45:06] Speaker 1: I think in jest, I'm sure he plans on seeing
[1:45:08] Speaker 1: the media again. One of the most liked players by
[1:45:10] Speaker 1: the media this past season despite ducking them.
[1:45:13] Speaker 3: He's one of the most liked?
[1:45:14] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:45:14] Speaker 1: One game, man. Yeah, media has high regard for him.
[1:45:18] Speaker 3: I bet.
[1:45:19] Speaker 1: Always takes his time, composes his thoughts.
[1:45:22] Speaker 5: Nah, as much as I talk trash about Wimby, I
[1:45:24] Speaker 5: love what he's doing for the NBA, for sure.
[1:45:29] Speaker 1: Make sure you guys clip that.
[1:45:30] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1:45:31] Speaker 4: He's, um.
[1:45:37] Speaker 5: I don't know what he is, man, so....
[1:45:41] Speaker 1: You don't know what he is?
[1:45:42] Speaker 5: Don't go to me first. I wasn't even thinking about
[1:45:45] Speaker 5: the question. I was ready to go, so.
[1:45:46] Speaker 6: You should have been over there twisting his hair. Yeah,
[1:45:49] Speaker 6: I was already gone, so.
[1:45:54] Speaker 1: Stop coming to me first in the first place. I
[1:45:57] Speaker 1: need time to think. Much like Chris Paul distribute, Jackson
[1:46:00] Speaker 1: Kidd distribute.
[1:46:01] Speaker 3: I don't read the script. The script read me.
[1:46:03] Speaker 1: The script doesn't read you.
[1:46:06] Speaker 3: The script read me.
[1:46:08] Speaker 6: The most interesting man in the world. I don't always
[1:46:11] Speaker 6: drink beer, but when I do. I don't always read
[1:46:14] Speaker 6: the Bible, but when I do.
[1:46:16] Speaker 3: Testimony.
[1:46:16] Speaker 7: When I do, it's always talking right to me.
[1:46:19] Speaker 4: Directly.
[1:46:19] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to you, Mr. B. Purveyor of Tough
[1:46:22] Speaker 1: Crowd Golf. Tough Crowd University, amongst other things. I'm looking
[1:46:26] Speaker 1: at the pants right now.
[1:46:27] Speaker 3: What's your motto?
[1:46:28] Speaker 1: On the Tough Crowd website.
[1:46:30] Speaker 5: What's your motto, though, before you answer any? What's your
[1:46:32] Speaker 5: motto on the golf? Ellicott.
[1:46:35] Speaker 6: All right.
[1:46:36] Speaker 1: Play with Ellicott.
[1:46:37] Speaker 3: Play with Ellicott. That one.
[1:46:38] Speaker 1: Ellicott.
[1:46:38] Speaker 6: That one.
[1:46:41] Speaker 5: Etiquette yeah etiquette etiquette elegance elegance saying elegance right no
[1:46:47] Speaker 5: etiquette etiquette yes there you go etiquette.
[1:46:51] Speaker 11: Etiquette etiquette a nail not a nail not a man
[1:46:58] Speaker 11: i like the way you say that now another i
[1:47:00] Speaker 11: said like you.
[1:47:01] Speaker 3: See that now I don't know what it means.
[1:47:04] Speaker 2: Etiquette?
[1:47:05] Speaker 3: I don't know, but shit, it sounds good.
[1:47:06] Speaker 5: We play with etiquette.
[1:47:08] Speaker 3: It sounds good, don't it? It sounds like a salad.
[1:47:12] Speaker 3: Let me get some of that etiquette in that salad.
[1:47:15] Speaker 3: I forgot what we play with. It's a type of lettuce. Etiquette.
[1:47:20] Speaker 5: Say it louder with your chest.
[1:47:22] Speaker 6: What do we play with?
[1:47:22] Speaker 3: Etiquette.
[1:47:23] Speaker 6: Okay, etiquette.
[1:47:29] Speaker 3: You got Skip all confused over there. Hey, what the
[1:47:33] Speaker 3: fuck is he talking about? Is it elegance, eloquence, elephant?
[1:47:37] Speaker 3: What the fuck is the elephant doing in here? When
[1:47:40] Speaker 3: did we get an elephant in here? Fuck it. Elephant
[1:47:43] Speaker 3: in a salad?
[1:47:43] Speaker 1: Skip, you can say what's on your mind on this couch.
[1:47:45] Speaker 3: It's okay.
[1:47:46] Speaker 2: I do like the pants, though. I give you the pants.
[1:47:49] Speaker 4: Thank you. They're really cool.
[1:47:50] Speaker 6: They're very elegant.
[1:47:51] Speaker 3: Very elegant.
[1:47:52] Speaker 6: Very elegant.
[1:47:55] Speaker 1: So, Draymond's saying, I don't think Wimby's as cocky of
[1:47:58] Speaker 1: a player as people are starting to make him out
[1:48:00] Speaker 1: to be. Blaming it on the language barrier, saying this
[1:48:02] Speaker 1: may be a second or third language. Do you think
[1:48:04] Speaker 1: Draymond is spitting or tripping with his Wimby take?
[1:48:06] Speaker 7: I mean, he's spitting. I mean, Wimby's been a pro
[1:48:12] Speaker 7: since 16. I mean, he's French, so, you know, their
[1:48:14] Speaker 7: mannerisms and things are different.
[1:48:16] Speaker 1: They are rude and assholes by nature, no.
[1:48:18] Speaker 4: Disrespect to the French.
[1:48:19] Speaker 3: I mean, the French.
[1:48:20] Speaker 7: I mean, but he's 22 years old and, you know,
[1:48:22] Speaker 7: played in his first finals, came in third, an MVP,
[1:48:25] Speaker 7: won Defensive Player of the Year. I mean, it's confidence
[1:48:29] Speaker 7: to me. I mean, 22 years old, like your first finals, yeah,
[1:48:33] Speaker 7: you didn't go the way you want, but I mean,
[1:48:35] Speaker 7: you have a lot to be confident about and If
[1:48:38] Speaker 7: you want to be cocky, hey, that's fine. I'd rather
[1:48:40] Speaker 7: you be cocky and confident than don't have it at all. So,
[1:48:43] Speaker 7: I like it.
[1:48:44] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to this side. Can you hear what
[1:48:51] Speaker 1: Draymond had to say about Wimby? Is he spitting or tripping?
[1:48:56] Speaker 6: It was my first time thinking about it when he
[1:48:58] Speaker 6: said it, when I heard it. So, I think he's spitting.
[1:49:03] Speaker 6: Europeans are more direct in their approach. I don't look
[1:49:10] Speaker 6: at him as a bullshit artist. So I think whatever
[1:49:15] Speaker 6: he's saying, he honestly feels and thinks. So it can
[1:49:20] Speaker 6: rub people the wrong way when you are direct, when
[1:49:23] Speaker 6: you put your thoughts together, but it's a direct approach.
[1:49:31] Speaker 6: A lot of people don't like it. It can come
[1:49:34] Speaker 6: across as cocky, arrogant. But if you take time to
[1:49:42] Speaker 6: think about his upbringing, where he's from, then you allow
[1:49:47] Speaker 6: him grace in those moments, in these moments, and not
[1:49:51] Speaker 6: critique him in the way that you would in other athletes.
[1:49:56] Speaker 5: That you would Americans, right?
[1:49:58] Speaker 6: Say that again?
[1:49:59] Speaker 5: You're talking about, like, Americans.
[1:50:00] Speaker 6: No, just other people. Just Americans, just... Other places and
[1:50:04] Speaker 6: other people.
[1:50:04] Speaker 3: So he got to give him a pass.
[1:50:06] Speaker 6: No, you don't have to. No, you don't have to.
[1:50:08] Speaker 6: If it was another 22-year-old, like.
[1:50:10] Speaker 5: That's all I hear on this couch is because he's
[1:50:12] Speaker 5: a foreigner.
[1:50:13] Speaker 6: No, no, but I'm just saying they're more... I don't... Like,
[1:50:16] Speaker 6: I just think... I'm asking the Draymond part.
[1:50:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
[1:50:20] Speaker 6: I think the way Draymond put it was perfect. They're
[1:50:22] Speaker 6: more direct in their approach. Europeans and friends, they're more
[1:50:25] Speaker 6: direct and they're not going to bullshit you like some
[1:50:30] Speaker 6: other people would, right? They're going to tell you exactly
[1:50:33] Speaker 6: what they're thinking or what they're feeling. And sometimes that
[1:50:36] Speaker 6: can come across as cocky and arrogant. It can rub
[1:50:38] Speaker 6: people the wrong way. And I think that's what he's
[1:50:40] Speaker 6: dealing with now. It's rubbing people the wrong way. And
[1:50:44] Speaker 6: he's on the stage where everybody's going to have something
[1:50:46] Speaker 6: to say. Everybody has a platform now. So some people
[1:50:50] Speaker 6: are going to love him, some people not, as you
[1:50:52] Speaker 6: have stated on this couch. You've got somebody that love him,
[1:50:55] Speaker 6: somebody that don't. And there you have it, right? A
[1:50:58] Speaker 6: few of that.
[1:50:58] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:50:59] Speaker 6: This is what it is. The perspective should.
[1:51:01] Speaker 3: Truly be one that he watched his fellow Frenchman get
[1:51:05] Speaker 3: choked out for trying to alleviate a situation. Hey, hey,
[1:51:09] Speaker 3: get guys calmed. You're not going to put your hands
[1:51:13] Speaker 3: on me, okay? I need to come out and show
[1:51:15] Speaker 3: you guys that I'm not going to be that guy.
[1:51:17] Speaker 6: Who would have deserved that choke?
[1:51:19] Speaker 3: Because he was trying to stop the team?
[1:51:22] Speaker 6: That one he deserved. I hear you.
[1:51:24] Speaker 3: What did he deserve? Why he deserve it?
[1:51:26] Speaker 6: Draymond was coming to the defense of his teammate in
[1:51:28] Speaker 6: that moment.
[1:51:29] Speaker 3: So was Rudy.
[1:51:30] Speaker 6: But that's not the question.
[1:51:33] Speaker 3: My point is that he is showing that he is
[1:51:37] Speaker 3: going to fend for himself in all aspects when it
[1:51:40] Speaker 3: comes to the media, talking and being direct and being confident.
[1:51:44] Speaker 3: Rudy has never displayed none of those things. You talk
[1:51:46] Speaker 3: about him being in the league. He's always been just
[1:51:49] Speaker 3: a solid, stand-up, blue-collar guy. Not going to say much.
[1:51:53] Speaker 3: He's going to do his job. He's going to go home.
[1:51:55] Speaker 3: But Wimby being the face of the league, being the
[1:51:58] Speaker 3: number one pick, playing for the San Antonio Spurs, you've
[1:52:02] Speaker 3: got to show some backbone. Tim Duncan never had to
[1:52:05] Speaker 3: be straightforward or he never had to be cocky or
[1:52:09] Speaker 3: any of those things because that wasn't his personality. For Wimby,
[1:52:12] Speaker 3: for him to be who he is and show his
[1:52:15] Speaker 3: parents and his family that he ain't one of those punks,
[1:52:19] Speaker 3: he going to have to say what he need to
[1:52:21] Speaker 3: say to convince people that I ain't him.
[1:52:24] Speaker 6: I'm confident.
[1:52:25] Speaker 3: I was picked in here number one for a reason.
[1:52:28] Speaker 3: And if you motherfuckers want to come over here and
[1:52:30] Speaker 3: try to choke me, I got some elbows and some
[1:52:32] Speaker 3: kung fu kicks for your ass too. Whatever you want.
[1:52:35] Speaker 3: Whatever I got to do to show you I ain't
[1:52:37] Speaker 3: one of them, I ain't Rudy. I ain't Rudy.
[1:52:41] Speaker 6: So is Draymond tripping or spitting?
[1:52:43] Speaker 3: He's spitting.
[1:52:43] Speaker 6: Okay.
[1:52:45] Speaker 3: For sure.
[1:52:47] Speaker 1: Let's move on to you. Also not the biggest fan
[1:52:50] Speaker 1: of Victor Wimbinyama. I believe put him in a 7'4
[1:52:53] Speaker 1: body bag yesterday. In the alien version. When we hear
[1:52:59] Speaker 1: Draymond saying and more or less coming to the defense
[1:53:01] Speaker 1: of Wimby and some of the comments and backlash and
[1:53:03] Speaker 1: criticism he's gotten, do you think Draymond is spitting or
[1:53:05] Speaker 1: tripping with his Wimby take?
[1:53:08] Speaker 2: Look, I'm going to say it again. I saw some
[1:53:11] Speaker 2: spoiled child in Wimby, especially in the finals. I saw
[1:53:15] Speaker 2: some premature entitlement. I saw some unearned arrogance. And yet,
[1:53:21] Speaker 2: when I first saw what Draymond, I think he posted
[1:53:24] Speaker 2: this on Thread, so he wrote it, and when I
[1:53:27] Speaker 2: first read it, I thought of Draymond as a defender.
[1:53:33] Speaker 2: Every time Golden State has played Wimby, Draymond has guarded Wimby,
[1:53:36] Speaker 2: and he's done a pretty nice job on him. I
[1:53:39] Speaker 2: was on Draymond's show during the All-Star break and the
[1:53:43] Speaker 2: night before they had played San Antonio at Golden State
[1:53:46] Speaker 2: and I watched it very closely because I knew I
[1:53:48] Speaker 2: was going to see Draymond. He did a really nice
[1:53:50] Speaker 2: job on him. Gets underneath him. So I'm thinking maybe
[1:53:55] Speaker 2: Draymond's protecting Draymond to try to protect Wimby because he
[1:53:59] Speaker 2: doesn't want to incite anything in Wimby because he has
[1:54:02] Speaker 2: to deal with him. And we'll probably be dealing with
[1:54:05] Speaker 2: him again next year. But One quick point of order,
[1:54:10] Speaker 2: that thread post was before Game 5. And then after
[1:54:16] Speaker 2: Game 5, Draymond said on his podcast, he just blasted
[1:54:19] Speaker 2: him for not shaking hands.
[1:54:21] Speaker 1: Your killer in the eyes.
[1:54:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, look your killer in the face. And if you don't,
[1:54:25] Speaker 2: if you don't look me in the face, I own
[1:54:27] Speaker 2: you forever, Draymond said. And I was like, whoa, he
[1:54:30] Speaker 2: ain't protecting nobody there. You know, like he, so.
[1:54:36] Speaker 2: I don't know. So with you, I started thinking about
[1:54:40] Speaker 2: the language past. Does he deserve a language past? Well,
[1:54:42] Speaker 2: he said to be fluent in English, and he sounds
[1:54:45] Speaker 2: pretty great in English to me. He sounds eloquent in English, right?
[1:54:49] Speaker 5: I ain't let you know we ain't going to be MEPs.
[1:54:53] Speaker 6: I don't know.
[1:54:54] Speaker 2: Is there a loss in translation?
[1:54:56] Speaker 6: Just because of the day, he was like, He was
[1:54:59] Speaker 6: in the moment, right? He said, how do you say
[1:55:01] Speaker 6: it in English, right? He was doing the press conference.
[1:55:04] Speaker 6: He was like, how do you say it in English?
[1:55:06] Speaker 6: You know how to say it, Ken. No, I don't think.
[1:55:08] Speaker 6: There's certain things, certain expressions.
[1:55:10] Speaker 5: I understand.
[1:55:11] Speaker 6: There's still a divide there. There's still a divide.
[1:55:15] Speaker 3: That's why he takes so much time to answer the question.
[1:55:18] Speaker 3: He doesn't just say shit. He thinks about the question.
[1:55:20] Speaker 3: If you let him answer it in French, it'll just flow.
[1:55:23] Speaker 3: I guarantee it wouldn't be that thought process, right? Yeah.
[1:55:26] Speaker 2: But he grew up speaking English and French. So it's
[1:55:30] Speaker 2: not like he came to America and said, I got
[1:55:33] Speaker 2: to learn English.
[1:55:34] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[1:55:35] Speaker 4: Right.
[1:55:38] Speaker 2: Still got a lot to learn.
[1:55:39] Speaker 6: Yeah, on and off the floor. Right?
[1:55:41] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:55:41] Speaker 6: On and off the floor.
[1:55:42] Speaker 4: Absolutely.
[1:55:43] Speaker 6: He's in year three, man. Yeah. No one expected them
[1:55:47] Speaker 6: to be on this stage yet. His talent is what
[1:55:50] Speaker 6: it is, right?
[1:55:51] Speaker 3: Astronomical.
[1:55:52] Speaker 6: Ability, potential, all that stuff is.
[1:55:54] Speaker 3: It is.
[1:55:55] Speaker 6: But you still have to go through the process. And
[1:56:00] Speaker 6: to Nick's point, right, praising him too early can get
[1:56:04] Speaker 6: in the way of some things, right? Not praising him
[1:56:06] Speaker 6: enough is a problem as well. I think there's a
[1:56:09] Speaker 6: fine line, and he's learning that, and we're all learning
[1:56:11] Speaker 6: it in real time. We'll see what comes up from
[1:56:16] Speaker 6: it next year and beyond.
[1:56:19] Speaker 2: Well, he said he'd like to get back 15 or
[1:56:21] Speaker 2: 20 times, so let's see.
[1:56:22] Speaker 6: Well, let's worry about next year. Not four, not two,
[1:56:24] Speaker 6: not three, not four, not five. We can worry about
[1:56:27] Speaker 6: next year. Not seven. Not eight, not nine, not ten,
[1:56:31] Speaker 6: not fifteen.
[1:56:32] Speaker 4: Fifteen.
[1:56:34] Speaker 3: Especially if I play 20 years.
[1:56:36] Speaker 6: The next 15 years, I expect to be in the finals.
[1:56:39] Speaker 6: Not four, sorry.
[1:56:40] Speaker 5: Fifteen.
[1:56:41] Speaker 6: Good luck.
[1:56:41] Speaker 5: Sorry, you guys. I was just thinking of something like that.
[1:56:48] Speaker 1: I don't even want you to share.
[1:56:50] Speaker 6: Yes, please don't.
[1:56:51] Speaker 1: Don't want to get you in trouble. But appreciate y'all.
[1:56:55] Speaker 1: Another great day.
[1:56:56] Speaker 6: Post-finals.
[1:56:57] Speaker 1: Hoping the finals will still be going on, but nah.
[1:57:00] Speaker 1: No more. Some did not hold up their end of
[1:57:02] Speaker 1: the bargain.
[1:57:03] Speaker 6: No mas.
[1:57:04] Speaker 1: So we got free agency in the draft coming up soon.
[1:57:06] Speaker 1: But appreciate everybody in the chat. Appreciate everybody on this couch.
[1:57:10] Speaker 1: Appreciate our amazing crew. Sebastian, appreciate you for pulling up today.
[1:57:16] Speaker 1: Thinking about you, legend. But this has been another episode
[1:57:20] Speaker 1: of Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
[1:57:22] Speaker 6: We will see y'all tomorrow.
