The Los Angeles Lakers DOMINATED In Game 1 SETS OFF Gil's Arena as Gilbert Arenas & the Gil's Arena Crew react to the beatdown handed out by the OKC Thunder in Game 1 of their NBA Playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers and debate if LeBron James and the Lake Show are in trouble after getting man handled in an offensive masterclass despite the lowest scoring playoff game from Shai Gilgeous Alexander. They break down how the Lakers should approach Game 2 after such a poor showing to start off the series and discuss if the team has any chance to win with Austin Reaves not looking like himself and Luka Doncic still on the sidelines. Next, they give their biggest takeaways from Game 1 of the Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavaliers series as Cade Cunningham and the 'Stons continued their hot streak by winning their 4th game in a row since going down 3-1 to the Orlando Magic and react to James Harden's struggles to hang on to the ball as The Beard has suffered 40 turnovers in his first 8 playoff games. They then react to the breaking news of Joel Embiid being ruled out for Game 2 of the Philadelphia 76ers NBA Playoff series against the New York Knicks and discuss how the loss of their superstar changes things for the Sixers before giving their take on what went wrong for the Boston Celtics as they blew a 3-1 lead to Embiid's 76ers and caused Jaylen Brown to spiral into a public crashout. Finally, they also dissect what went wrong for Nikola Jokic & The Denver Nuggets as they failed to make a deep playoff run once again and discuss what's next for Jokic and the team as they look to get back on top of the NBA. [0:03] Speaker 1: Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
[0:05] Speaker 2: Whoop, whoop.
[0:08] Speaker 1: A less than enthusiastic ovation to start the show based
[0:12] Speaker 1: on a less than enthusiastic game one from the Los
[0:14] Speaker 1: Angeles Lakers. But we still got to bring y'all, y'all.
[0:18] Speaker 1: Favorite show.
[0:18] Speaker 2: How everybody feeling?
[0:21] Speaker 3: Feeling good.
[0:22] Speaker 2: I like the jacket though, Gil.
[0:24] Speaker 4: Oh, thank you.
[0:25] Speaker 2: All right. Well, this is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
[0:29] Speaker 3: Whoop, whoop. I mean, your energy is like you thought
[0:34] Speaker 3: we was going to win, and you were sad that
[0:36] Speaker 3: we lost.
[0:37] Speaker 2: Okay. Down four in the third quarter.
[0:40] Speaker 3: Huh?
[0:40] Speaker 2: I know.
[0:42] Speaker 3: What, this whole work?
[0:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, hey, with potential and chance. Okay. At
[0:47] Speaker 2: the dibby-wop. In belief. You talking about? We still believe. Yeah.
[0:52] Speaker 2: In the unthinkable. Well. We shall see, though. We've seen it.
[0:56] Speaker 2: We saw it. We saw it.
[1:04] Speaker 3: You know them times where Mike Tyson was in his
[1:07] Speaker 3: shit and then there was another heavyweight, right? And then
[1:11] Speaker 3: they thought they had a good strategy and then the
[1:15] Speaker 3: fight started and then 15 seconds later it's over.
[1:17] Speaker 1: Everybody got a good one until they get punched in
[1:19] Speaker 1: the mouth.
[1:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, we think we second round talent.
[1:23] Speaker 1: First round champions. First round champion Los Angeles Lakers. But
[1:28] Speaker 1: this is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog. I'm merely a host,
[1:32] Speaker 1: Josiah Johnson. We got NBA legend, Arc Raiders most wanted,
[1:35] Speaker 1: Gilbert Arenas here with us.
[1:37] Speaker 2: I'm not. You tried yesterday, right? I'm not most wanted
[1:40] Speaker 2: no more. They got you? You tried yesterday, right? I tried.
[1:44] Speaker 2: You was like, don't do it, right? I'm going to
[1:49] Speaker 2: try today. Oh. I'm going to try today.
[1:53] Speaker 3: All right.
[1:57] Speaker 2: I don't think it's going to work today. It ain't
[1:58] Speaker 2: going to work today. Guilt no longer most wanted. Least wanted?
[2:02] Speaker 2: I'm a piyana. A piyana? A piyana?
[2:06] Speaker 4: A piyana.
[2:07] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:07] Speaker 3: Seis de Mayo. Yeah, they stream sniping me, man. So
[2:10] Speaker 3: every time I come out there, they just beating it
[2:13] Speaker 3: out of me, man. Beating the kid. You know, at
[2:15] Speaker 3: this point, I'm... Unfortunate.
[2:18] Speaker 2: Turn of events.
[2:19] Speaker 4: So when you die, like, they take all your guns
[2:20] Speaker 4: and everything?
[2:21] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:21] Speaker 3: As soon as I go out there, you know, they
[2:24] Speaker 3: cock you with an arrow. We see you, so what's up? Yeah,
[2:28] Speaker 3: there's like eight of us, so give it up. You
[2:30] Speaker 3: let it be known what you was doing, so hey. Yeah,
[2:33] Speaker 3: they beating that right out of me, man. Yeah.
[2:35] Speaker 2: I hope you learned about it. It was brutal. Too
[2:38] Speaker 2: late to switch back now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. See you
[2:41] Speaker 2: the next.
[2:41] Speaker 1: The Guild representing Tough Crowd and the Car Carrying Country Club. Remember,
[2:44] Speaker 1: we got Mr. B, Brandon Jennings.
[2:46] Speaker 4: Ho, ho, ho, ho!
[2:49] Speaker 2: I like him. What about me? 1v1.
[2:50] Speaker 4: 1v1 for 100 bands?
[2:52] Speaker 2: For whatever you want to do. You know what? Bring
[2:57] Speaker 2: Kenyon's gloves. We'll do it Saturday.
[3:01] Speaker 4: Okay.
[3:01] Speaker 2: Or we can do it at 6 a.m. Friday, it
[3:04] Speaker 2: don't matter.
[3:05] Speaker 4: Bring Kenyon's gloves?
[3:06] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[3:08] Speaker 2: So I can put on Kenyon's gloves. Oh, so it'll
[3:10] Speaker 2: beat me for Kenyon's gloves. Yeah, it'll beat you for
[3:12] Speaker 2: Kenyon's gloves. Just passing. On this side of the couch,
[3:15] Speaker 2: we got the distinguished gentleman from Oak Cliff. Hey, fuck
[3:17] Speaker 2: the bullfighting. The distinguished gentleman from Oak Cliff, former number
[3:21] Speaker 2: one pick, Kenyon Martin.
[3:28] Speaker 1: And last but not least, the man they call Cemetery Larry,
[3:30] Speaker 1: NCAA Champion of the World, Dr. Rashad McCance, PhD. Rashad,
[3:35] Speaker 1: is that you the pappy? You the pappy?
[3:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, the pappy. You know, sometimes. Sometimes.
[3:44] Speaker 5: You know, you got to birth babies every now and again.
[3:49] Speaker 5: Finally came in and told us it's custom made, straight
[3:51] Speaker 5: from Serbia.
[3:52] Speaker 1: Straight from, oh. The Serbian variety, we will discuss. But
[3:57] Speaker 1: we got a lot to get into. Here's what's cracking
[3:59] Speaker 1: in Gil's arena today. The Thunder cruised to an 18-point
[4:03] Speaker 1: win over the Lakers in Game 1. What adjustments did
[4:07] Speaker 1: the Purple and Gold need to make to keep this
[4:09] Speaker 1: series competitive? There's got to be something. Pistons snapped a
[4:13] Speaker 1: 12-game playoff losing streak to the Cavs with their Game
[4:16] Speaker 1: 1 win. Is Cade Cunningham proving he's a bona fide
[4:19] Speaker 1: superstar in this league? And Jalen Brown crashed out on
[4:23] Speaker 1: the officiating and in-beat flopping after the Sixers eliminated the Celtics,
[4:29] Speaker 1: but is JB spitting or tripping? And things might be
[4:32] Speaker 1: interesting over there in Boston, but we will get into it.
[4:36] Speaker 1: Before we get into all that, this episode is brought
[4:38] Speaker 1: to you by Underdog. Underdog available in most states, including Texas, California,
[4:42] Speaker 1: and Florida. New customers get $ 50 in bonus entries when
[4:45] Speaker 1: they play just $ 5. To get started, just use code

[4:54] Speaker 1: this show live with us on YouTube, we got audio
[4:55] Speaker 1: versions available on Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts.
[4:59] Speaker 1: So unfortunately, we got to get right to it. Lakers
[5:02] Speaker 1: and Thunder met in OKC Tuesday night for game one
[5:05] Speaker 1: of their Western Semi Series. Thunder absolutely dominated the Purple
[5:08] Speaker 1: and Gold in the regular season, sweeping the season series
[5:11] Speaker 1: with an average score of 29.3 points per game this season,
[5:16] Speaker 1: which is the worst of any playoff matchup in NBA history.
[5:19] Speaker 1: Lakers 15.5-point underdogs in game one, biggest underdog spread of
[5:23] Speaker 1: any game in LeBron's career. Thunder hadn't played in eight
[5:26] Speaker 1: days since sweeping the Suns in the first round, looked
[5:29] Speaker 1: a little rusty early on, and even though the reigning
[5:32] Speaker 1: MVP had a below-average game by his standards, the rest
[5:34] Speaker 1: of his squad stepped up to keep LKC undefeated so
[5:38] Speaker 1: far in this postseason. Let's take a look at the
[5:40] Speaker 1: highlights and lowlights. If we can, please. So Lakers got
[5:44] Speaker 1: off to a hot start, taking a 7-0 lead to
[5:46] Speaker 1: start the game with LeBron scoring five of those points
[5:48] Speaker 1: in 12 total in the first quarter. But the Thunder
[5:53] Speaker 1: responded in the quarter with a run to take a
[5:56] Speaker 1: five-point lead. It looked good early on. Better than it has. But,
[6:02] Speaker 1: you know, as these things tend to go. You got
[6:08] Speaker 1: SGA in his supporting cast. Phantom foul calls. Chet Holmgren
[6:14] Speaker 1: doing what he's doing. And all those things. Lakers cut
[6:17] Speaker 1: it to three in the second quarter. But the Thunder
[6:20] Speaker 1: went on another run to go up 13. Eventually ended
[6:24] Speaker 1: up leading by eight at the break. Chet Holmgren had
[6:27] Speaker 1: 18 of his team high 24 points in the first half.
[6:30] Speaker 1: Finished with a game high tying 12 boards as well.
[6:33] Speaker 1: SGA only had 18 points of 8 of 15 shooting
[6:36] Speaker 1: with just three free throw attempts in the whole game.
[6:39] Speaker 1: along with six assists and a game-high seven turnovers.
[6:42] Speaker 2: A.J.
[6:43] Speaker 1: Mitchell added 18 points, and Jared McCain had 12 points
[6:45] Speaker 1: off the bench, going four for five from distance. LeBron
[6:48] Speaker 1: paced the Lakers with 16 first-half points on 7-11 shooting,
[6:52] Speaker 1: finished with 27, six assists, going 12 for 17 from
[6:56] Speaker 1: the field. Rui Hachimura added 18 points. Marcus Smart had
[7:00] Speaker 1: 12 points, a game-high seven assists and four steals. And
[7:03] Speaker 1: DeAndre Ayton had 10 and 12 boards. Austin Reeves, a
[7:06] Speaker 1: man known as Lemon Daddy, struggled in this one, He
[7:09] Speaker 1: had eight points on three of 16 shooting, missing all
[7:11] Speaker 1: five of his three-point attempts. Reeves' 18.8 shooting percentage was
[7:15] Speaker 1: the lowest by a Laker in a playoff game over
[7:17] Speaker 1: the last 35 years with a minimum of 15 attempts.
[7:21] Speaker 1: Lakers went on an 8-2 run to cut the deficit
[7:23] Speaker 1: to four midway through the third quarter. That's the closest
[7:25] Speaker 1: they would get as the Thunder immediately responded with a
[7:28] Speaker 1: 7-0 run, outscored the Purple and would go 39-25 for.
[7:31] Speaker 2: The rest of the game.
[7:33] Speaker 1: OKC held the Lakers at 37 points in the second half. 42%
[7:37] Speaker 1: shooting for the game while forcing 17 turnovers. So despite
[7:40] Speaker 1: the low scoring output from the reigning MVP, the Thunder
[7:43] Speaker 1: still dominated offensively. Shot 49% from the field, 43% from distance, 92%
[7:49] Speaker 1: from the line. OKC improved to 5-0 this postseason, won
[7:52] Speaker 1: six straight playoff games dating back to last year. S.J.,
[7:55] Speaker 1: Marcus Smart, and LeBron offered these thoughts on game one.
[7:58] Speaker 3: Good interview with Marcus Smart, man.
[8:00] Speaker 2: A little rusty tonight offensively. We're just stuck with it.
[8:03] Speaker 2: Made plays. They're obviously sending a lot of bodies at me.
[8:06] Speaker 2: Those guys stepped into the plays confidently, and that's all
[8:09] Speaker 2: you can ask for.
[8:10] Speaker 3: I know you say that you have all the answers.
[8:12] Speaker 3: How much did you have to think during the test tonight?
[8:15] Speaker 2: Um... Tonight was very simple. Multiple bodies, that means multiple
[8:20] Speaker 2: people are open. And trust my teammates from there. We
[8:23] Speaker 2: were ass.
[8:24] Speaker 4: Excuse me.
[8:26] Speaker 2: Suck was an understatement, right?
[8:27] Speaker 6: But, yeah, like I said, you know, we put ourselves
[8:31] Speaker 6: in a position. We just couldn't get over that hump tonight, right?
[8:36] Speaker 6: We're going to go back. We're going to look at
[8:37] Speaker 6: the film. We're going to individually look at the film
[8:40] Speaker 6: of each other collectively as a team. see what we
[8:43] Speaker 6: did right, see the things we did wrong, and see
[8:45] Speaker 6: the things that we can clean up on. That's the
[8:49] Speaker 6: beauty about this team. They definitely make you work, and
[8:53] Speaker 6: your attention to details is very important against this team,
[8:55] Speaker 6: and we've got to be better on that end. So
[8:57] Speaker 6: we're definitely going to get back in the lab and
[8:59] Speaker 6: see what we've got to do.
[9:01] Speaker 4: We're down one.
[9:05] Speaker 2: Same. Shea versus the Lakers. Lakers versus the Thunder. We're
[9:11] Speaker 2: down 1-0.
[9:11] Speaker 5: That's the main thing.
[9:16] Speaker 2: Keep the main thing the main thing.
[9:17] Speaker 7: That's win or lose.
[9:18] Speaker 4: That's all it's about.
[9:21] Speaker 1: Marcus Smart, 4 for 15 in the game. He is
[9:24] Speaker 1: doing post-game interviews now. Lakers starter, Marcus Smart. Austin Reeves,
[9:30] Speaker 1: 3 for 16. 0 for 5 from 3. Gilbert J. Arenas,
[9:33] Speaker 1: what are your biggest takeaways from the Thunder's Game 1
[9:37] Speaker 1: win over the Los Angeles Lakers? Does, like, is it
[9:44] Speaker 1: in contracts that everybody got to, like, play in the
[9:47] Speaker 1: game and everybody got to shoot?
[9:48] Speaker 3: Is this back to AAU?
[9:49] Speaker 2: Because why is he taking 15 shots here? He didn't
[9:54] Speaker 2: do that in Memphis. Why are you coming to L.A.
[9:57] Speaker 3: And think you just, you him now to come here and.
[10:01] Speaker 2: It was him for extended portions.
[10:05] Speaker 3: No, the game.
[10:06] Speaker 2: Every 10 games, I've been counting.
[10:09] Speaker 3: We don't need to watch film. The film is, if
[10:12] Speaker 3: you make your first shot, you get to shoot another one.
[10:15] Speaker 3: If you miss that one, get a layup, fast break layup.
[10:19] Speaker 3: Either you're two for two, one for three, that's it,
[10:23] Speaker 3: no more. Like, where's the days where the star player,
[10:26] Speaker 3: the best player, is taking half of the shots? That
[10:31] Speaker 3: was winning, right? That's when players was winning.
[10:35] Speaker 2: Jordan, right?
[10:37] Speaker 3: You remember him, right? Kareem, dunking him, right? Let's get
[10:42] Speaker 3: back to those when Shea, right? Do what you do.
[10:45] Speaker 2: Your defense. Go out there, guard somebody.
[10:48] Speaker 3: 15 shots. But where are you going to get the
[10:52] Speaker 3: score from? LeBron.
[10:55] Speaker 2: Yes. LeBron James. Yes.
[10:58] Speaker 3: He took 17 shots. He could have took 17 more.
[11:01] Speaker 2: Yes. All five Lakers starters took over 12 football goals.
[11:04] Speaker 2: Because the Marcus Smart was coming down taking shots. That's
[11:07] Speaker 2: the problem. You see it? Cojones. Cojones. Four for 15.
[11:12] Speaker 2: Safety mile. Talking about what we need to do. I mean, but.
[11:15] Speaker 3: We don't need to do nothing.
[11:17] Speaker 2: You need to stop.
[11:18] Speaker 3: Taking shots because that's not what you do. You get
[11:21] Speaker 3: paid to be defensive player of the year. That's what
[11:24] Speaker 3: we'd like We got you for defense defense Not offense.
[11:30] Speaker 3: But your other guys only shoot. We don't need to
[11:32] Speaker 3: talk about the other guys. He up there on the
[11:34] Speaker 3: podium talking about we need to go back and watch
[11:36] Speaker 3: the film.
[11:37] Speaker 2: We need to watch it as a group.
[11:38] Speaker 3: I mean, Kennard only shooting one for four.
[11:41] Speaker 2: Hey, Kennard, did they tell you something? Who told you?
[11:43] Speaker 3: So why he not shooting?
[11:44] Speaker 2: He was Luca Kennard. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[11:46] Speaker 3: Did somebody speak to you and told you not to
[11:48] Speaker 3: shoot the ball no more?
[11:49] Speaker 2: Hey, listen.
[11:50] Speaker 3: We done watched him all year long. Don't listen to
[11:53] Speaker 3: nobody on that team. Do you.
[11:55] Speaker 2: Come out there, chuck the threes, shoot the threes. Do you.
[11:57] Speaker 3: You good. This is embarrassing. What we need to do.
[12:07] Speaker 3: I watched the 81 again. And what's so beautiful about
[12:11] Speaker 3: when Kobe scored 81? Everybody realized they don't need to shoot.
[12:17] Speaker 3: One for five. One for six. They stopped.
[12:22] Speaker 2: 83 shots.
[12:22] Speaker 3: He took 46. That's what LeBron needs to do.
[12:26] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. 41-year-old LeBron James. Yep. Needs to take 46 shots.
[12:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, come on, man. Four for 17.
[12:33] Speaker 2: You don't think more shots should have went his way?
[12:36] Speaker 2: Three for 16, four for 15.
[12:38] Speaker 3: When do you say it ain't your night? Do something different.
[12:43] Speaker 2: Shooters think the next one going in? None of them
[12:45] Speaker 2: are shooters. No, no, no. You know what? They are shooters.
[12:47] Speaker 3: They're not shot makers. They're very different.
[12:52] Speaker 2: Hey, bro. It's your team. Somebody needs to shoot.
[13:03] Speaker 3: Not him. Not him.
[13:06] Speaker 2: Okay? Not him. You got to laugh.
[13:09] Speaker 3: I got to blame someone. Listen, I'm not trying to rant.
[13:13] Speaker 3: It's more because he's from Boston. And then I just
[13:16] Speaker 3: feel he's tanking so we don't get our next championship.
[13:20] Speaker 2: Right? The girl was a vital in the Central Park.
[13:23] Speaker 3: They get mold.
[13:25] Speaker 2: You know, this is... What's your motherfucking mold like that?
[13:28] Speaker 2: It's not like.
[13:29] Speaker 3: Like, when I watch the game, it's like... Nigga, implant. Like,
[13:32] Speaker 3: when he's in there, you know how you, like, you sigh, like,
[13:34] Speaker 3: you sigh looking at him? I can't even really cheer
[13:37] Speaker 3: when he's in the game. I just be looking, like,
[13:38] Speaker 3: just looking at what.
[13:39] Speaker 2: He's doing, just.
[13:42] Speaker 3: And then when he's out of the game, I feel
[13:44] Speaker 3: more comfortable.
[13:46] Speaker 2: I mean.
[13:47] Speaker 5: This is a guy who had 25 and 21 in
[13:51] Speaker 5: two of the.
[13:52] Speaker 2: Six Houston games. Two of the six?
[13:57] Speaker 5: Yeah, he was an instrumental part of the first three
[14:00] Speaker 5: games against the Rockets. Very solid.
[14:01] Speaker 2: Playing very well. How about the last three? Gil, that's
[14:04] Speaker 2: what I had. The last three and this last one.
[14:06] Speaker 2: The first three. Okay. More bad than good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[14:11] Speaker 2: The last four games, including this Thunder game. Okay. All right.
[14:14] Speaker 2: Not shooting particularly well. Not as productive, King. He's not
[14:17] Speaker 2: as productive? Not as productive. That's a great way to
[14:20] Speaker 2: put it.
[14:20] Speaker 5: Luke Kennard as well. 27, 23, 14. Mm-hmm. And it
[14:24] Speaker 5: was kind of drop-off.
[14:27] Speaker 2: It wasn't no drop-off. Somebody needs to stop talking to him.
[14:29] Speaker 3: Don't talk to him.
[14:30] Speaker 2: It wasn't no drop-off. Hey, you're scoring your 20s in
[14:35] Speaker 2: consecutive games. Your paragraph on the scouting report get bigger.
[14:40] Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
[14:41] Speaker 2: That's all. Hey, we got eight. We need to mark
[14:44] Speaker 2: a smart playing well. We need to... Luke Kennard was...
[14:50] Speaker 2: I thought it was because Austin Reeves came back. Pay attention.
[14:55] Speaker 2: Austin Reeves came back. You got 15 shots. He's still
[14:59] Speaker 2: shooting the bitch. He just ain't making them. We should switch.
[15:01] Speaker 3: Luke Kennard should be shooting because he's a shooter. He's
[15:04] Speaker 3: a shooter.
[15:05] Speaker 2: One's a defender. You defend.
[15:07] Speaker 3: You shoot. I like that. I don't like 29 minutes,
[15:09] Speaker 3: three shots from someone who makes shots. So switch roles
[15:14] Speaker 3: just a little bit. He got to shoot the ball.
[15:16] Speaker 3: He got to be aggressive.
[15:17] Speaker 2: Yeah. Come on, JJ.
[15:20] Speaker 3: This is where nepotism is supposed to be kicking in.
[15:22] Speaker 4: I mean, you don't really have a lot of options
[15:24] Speaker 4: over there. So everybody who's starting, they need to be
[15:27] Speaker 4: shooting the ball.
[15:28] Speaker 2: No, they don't.
[15:29] Speaker 3: To try to win this year. Asar Thompson, he.
[15:32] Speaker 2: Knows his role, right? He don't shoot out of two feet, right?
[15:36] Speaker 2: Smart man. He's not losing the game chucking shots. So
[15:41] Speaker 2: that's what lost y'all the game? Huh? Say that again?
[15:45] Speaker 2: That's what lost y'all the game?
[15:46] Speaker 3: Not anyone lost the game. That's just the.
[15:48] Speaker 2: Guy I'm about to blame. I don't want to blame
[15:52] Speaker 2: other players.
[15:53] Speaker 3: We need them. We don't need you right now.
[15:56] Speaker 2: You got to blame Austin Reeves. No, never. I mean,
[16:01] Speaker 2: he was three for 16, eight points.
[16:03] Speaker 5: He did not show up to play.
[16:07] Speaker 2: I mean, I think that was the differential. The differential.
[16:11] Speaker 3: That contract.
[16:13] Speaker 2: When the contract kick in, I told you that money
[16:16] Speaker 2: kick in.
[16:17] Speaker 3: That's not kick in yet? They thought I was bullshit
[16:20] Speaker 3: when I said it. When the money on the line,
[16:23] Speaker 3: it's your contract yet, it's you and your performance and
[16:27] Speaker 3: that money. And sometimes it don't make for a good recipe. Y'all,
[16:31] Speaker 3: they're stressing.
[16:32] Speaker 2: I'm oblique. Come on back. My oblique still hurt. Yeah,
[16:37] Speaker 2: I'm going to sit out.
[16:39] Speaker 3: I mean, it's kind of looking like Rich Paul was right.
[16:41] Speaker 2: Rich Paul was right in what assessment, Mr.
[16:43] Speaker 4: He got rid of him a long time ago.
[16:47] Speaker 2: When he was hot? All he needs is like a
[16:50] Speaker 2: little 30, a little 40. That's all he really needs
[16:52] Speaker 2: right now. Right now, he's just stressing.
[16:54] Speaker 3: He's not going to get none of that.
[16:56] Speaker 2: Points?
[16:57] Speaker 3: He's not going to get no 30 or 40.
[16:58] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[16:58] Speaker 3: Wait until it blows out. He's not getting no 30
[16:59] Speaker 3: or 40 against that defense.
[17:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, no.
[17:05] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to you, Mr. B. Biggest takeaways from
[17:08] Speaker 1: that Thunder game one win?
[17:10] Speaker 4: The fact that it was SGA's fewest points, that he's
[17:13] Speaker 4: had seven turnovers and he still lost by 18.
[17:17] Speaker 2: First time under 20 this season.
[17:18] Speaker 4: So, I mean, with that being said, he's not going
[17:20] Speaker 4: to have a game like that again. So looking at
[17:22] Speaker 4: it like that, there's really no chance because that's the
[17:25] Speaker 4: worst they've played and they were struggling. So they're not
[17:28] Speaker 4: going to do that game two. So it's just, you know,
[17:32] Speaker 4: besides LeBron and Rory, they didn't really have nobody out there. And,
[17:37] Speaker 4: you know, they tried to double-team SGA, but, you know,
[17:40] Speaker 4: there's better players over there. This ain't Houston. So, you know,
[17:45] Speaker 4: good luck.
[17:47] Speaker 2: In the same conference as Houston, though. Fucking dude.
[17:52] Speaker 3: Hey, what's the next topic? No.
[17:54] Speaker 2: Oh, no, let's... You got to take good with your bad.
[17:56] Speaker 3: Okay.
[17:56] Speaker 1: You got to get to the... All right, all right.
[17:58] Speaker 1: I'm just checking. The distinguished gentleman. Believe me, Gil, I
[18:02] Speaker 1: did not. Did not want to come to work today.
[18:05] Speaker 2: Damn. It is what it is. You know, it's just tough, Kane.
[18:08] Speaker 2: We fought so hard.
[18:10] Speaker 4: No.
[18:11] Speaker 2: 41 years old. Time just ain't enough. Father time. Well,
[18:16] Speaker 2: he kicking father time, man. Like he said. But not
[18:19] Speaker 2: the Thunders. Nah, that's a whole other battle. Yeah, it's
[18:27] Speaker 2: like 300. Like, you live 90, and that's 300. It's
[18:32] Speaker 2: going to be a battle, brother. Value your effort. No, man,
[18:36] Speaker 2: it's just they outmatched. LeBron should have taken more than
[18:42] Speaker 2: 17 shots. Being 12 for 17, shooting a good clip.
[18:51] Speaker 2: But the recipe was in the first round, move the
[18:55] Speaker 2: ball around. Everybody was getting looks and things, things like that.
[18:58] Speaker 2: So I think that was what they thought was the
[19:01] Speaker 2: recipe for success. You are playing a better team than Houston.
[19:10] Speaker 2: So you have to do something different against this team.
[19:14] Speaker 2: And what that is, I don't know. When a team
[19:20] Speaker 2: has beaten you by 30 every time you've seen them
[19:23] Speaker 2: in the last few months, it's not in the back
[19:27] Speaker 2: of your mind. This should be the first thought, right?
[19:32] Speaker 2: This is a really good team we're playing and we
[19:35] Speaker 2: haven't had A remote of an answer on how to
[19:38] Speaker 2: beat them in regular season. They are on the quest
[19:42] Speaker 2: to repeat and they are very focused right now. And
[19:46] Speaker 2: we just, we are collateral damage, unfortunately, on their quest
[19:51] Speaker 2: to repeat is what I'm seeing in this series. So,
[19:59] Speaker 2: you know, it's, and you're down another defender in Vando,
[20:03] Speaker 2: ain't no telling when he gonna come back. If he
[20:05] Speaker 2: come back, that was nasty. So, but nah, man, it
[20:09] Speaker 2: was a tall, tall ask before game one. And to
[20:16] Speaker 2: Brandon's point, they're not going to play that way again.
[20:19] Speaker 2: Having eight days off in between games, going to come
[20:22] Speaker 2: out a little rusty. Lakers had more momentum playing more recent.
[20:28] Speaker 2: So first half was expected and the game just went
[20:32] Speaker 2: as the series is going to go, right? Each game,
[20:35] Speaker 2: the first half was that and the, Each game is
[20:38] Speaker 2: going to be like the second half was. The leads
[20:41] Speaker 2: are going to get bigger, I think. LeBron's going to
[20:43] Speaker 2: have to do too much. Need more from Austin Reeves,
[20:47] Speaker 2: of course. Yeah, them dudes got to shoot the ball, Gil.
[20:53] Speaker 2: They're passing around. That's how they got out the first round.
[20:56] Speaker 2: So that's what they think is going to be a success.
[20:58] Speaker 2: But we'll see how LeBron come out in game two
[21:01] Speaker 2: if he's more aggressive and taking more shots, which I
[21:03] Speaker 2: think he needs to. I don't know. The pressure's on
[21:08] Speaker 2: him because he's the main guy. But Austin Reeves needs
[21:13] Speaker 2: to do more. Definitely needs to do more. All right, Shiloh,
[21:16] Speaker 2: shift over to you. Dr.
[21:18] Speaker 5: McCants, PhD. Burper of babies. Oh, man. 16 points in
[21:30] Speaker 5: the first half. LeBron James set the tone early. about
[21:36] Speaker 5: the energy that was going to be displayed throughout the
[21:41] Speaker 5: game and ended up with five points in the fourth quarter.
[21:47] Speaker 5: You talk about true leadership with a guy like this.
[21:49] Speaker 5: 23 years, you're beyond a vet. You know exactly what
[21:52] Speaker 5: it takes to be the team like this. You've seen everything.
[21:56] Speaker 5: You know all the schemes. You know all the strategies.
[21:57] Speaker 5: You know what's going to happen. As far as getting
[22:00] Speaker 5: your team involved in the first half, second half, that's cool.
[22:04] Speaker 5: The game was close up until the fourth So what's
[22:09] Speaker 5: stopping you from taking the game over? It's always been
[22:13] Speaker 5: my question with LeBron. What's stopping you from being who
[22:16] Speaker 5: you are in your core? If you are the GOAT,
[22:19] Speaker 5: we keep talking about this conversation, like display it, show it.
[22:23] Speaker 5: 27 points at the end of the game, everybody look
[22:26] Speaker 5: at the box score and say, hey, he did his part. No,
[22:29] Speaker 5: he didn't do his part. You're supposed to take over
[22:31] Speaker 5: the game. 12 or 17, of course, you're supposed to
[22:34] Speaker 5: take more shots because you're supposed to will your team
[22:37] Speaker 5: to victory. especially against a team like this, who's going
[22:40] Speaker 5: to always counterpunch you. They're always going to have an
[22:43] Speaker 5: answer for your questions. So SGA's having a bad night.
[22:47] Speaker 5: This is a perfect night for you to have a
[22:49] Speaker 5: magnificent night, which you were on the verge of. 27 points,
[22:55] Speaker 5: 12 for 17 means nothing in the loss. They asked
[22:59] Speaker 5: LeBron about what was missing in this loss. He said,
[23:02] Speaker 5: 33 points, our best player. And that's just a bailout answer.
[23:08] Speaker 5: It's a bailout answer because he knows that the 33
[23:13] Speaker 5: points coming from Luka, there's 23 points coming from Austin
[23:18] Speaker 5: that he didn't get. That 23 used to be 30.
[23:22] Speaker 5: So Austin's capable of covering what Luka can bring. And
[23:26] Speaker 5: he can up his production. DeAndre Ayton can up his production.
[23:30] Speaker 5: Rui can up his production. But as a leader, you
[23:32] Speaker 5: have to point out these discrepancies. You have to go
[23:34] Speaker 5: back to the drawing board and you have to say, Listen, man,
[23:37] Speaker 5: I got to get Austin Reeves involved. We got to
[23:41] Speaker 5: do a better job getting him involved and getting him
[23:43] Speaker 5: involved early. When you look at the game as its totality,
[23:48] Speaker 5: the Lakers struggled in the fourth quarter because they didn't
[23:54] Speaker 5: have leadership. Who's taking the shots in the fourth? Marcus
[23:59] Speaker 5: Smart taking shots. Rui's taking shots. All the guys are
[24:02] Speaker 5: taking shots except for the guy who's supposed to be
[24:04] Speaker 5: taking shots. So to defer at the end doesn't make
[24:08] Speaker 5: sense to me. But, you know, if you're the GOAT,
[24:11] Speaker 5: I guess you can take games off and you can
[24:13] Speaker 5: do what you want, but not on my watch.
[24:18] Speaker 2: So you feel like LeBron took that game off? Fourth
[24:21] Speaker 2: quarter he did. Yeah, only had five points in the
[24:23] Speaker 2: fourth quarter. You talk Austin Reeves, Austin Reeves eight points
[24:25] Speaker 2: in the game, averaged 23 in the regular season, 15
[24:28] Speaker 2: under his average. Seems like that 15 points could have
[24:30] Speaker 2: been very beneficial and useful. This particular ball game. And
[24:35] Speaker 2: you got to look at how he played.
[24:36] Speaker 5: It was like he was forcing a lot of those things,
[24:38] Speaker 5: pushing the ball into tight situations against a very good
[24:42] Speaker 5: defensive team. So J.J. has to go back to the
[24:44] Speaker 5: drawing board and figure out how to get easier shots
[24:47] Speaker 5: for Austin.
[24:47] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[24:48] Speaker 5: And LeBron's going to have to do a better job
[24:50] Speaker 5: of facilitating if you're going to be the facilitator because
[24:52] Speaker 5: you don't really have a true point guard out there,
[24:54] Speaker 5: so you're going to have to go into point guard mode.
[24:56] Speaker 5: You have to do what you did in the Houston
[24:58] Speaker 5: series and actually play off of you. So I think
[25:02] Speaker 5: that if he does that, they have a better chance
[25:03] Speaker 5: of winning.
[25:04] Speaker 2: But right now they don't have a chance.
[25:06] Speaker 1: It seemed like refs followed their whistles on both sides.
[25:07] Speaker 1: I want to say Lakers 13 free throw attempts, Thunder
[25:11] Speaker 1: 12 free throw attempts in the game, SGA just three
[25:13] Speaker 1: free throw attempts, Reeves two.
[25:14] Speaker 5: I thought they played pretty good defense both sides. Both
[25:17] Speaker 5: sides played solid defense. They didn't give away no second
[25:20] Speaker 5: chance points that much. So, you know, the Lakers just
[25:23] Speaker 5: got to do better, man. It's just not acceptable. Leadership
[25:26] Speaker 5: not acceptable. And it ain't got shit to do with
[25:28] Speaker 5: his age.
[25:30] Speaker 2: Hmm.
[25:31] Speaker 1: That brings us to the other side where we talked
[25:32] Speaker 1: about a little bit. Lakers out SGA to under 20
[25:35] Speaker 1: points for the first time this season. Although it won't
[25:38] Speaker 1: impact the streak, which is limited to the regular season,
[25:40] Speaker 1: they also force them to have a game high. Seven turnovers,
[25:44] Speaker 1: still lost the game by 18 points, which on the
[25:47] Speaker 1: bright side is well under the 29-point average margin of
[25:49] Speaker 1: victory the Thunder had this season.
[25:50] Speaker 2: Facts. We keep chipping away at it.
[25:53] Speaker 3: The next game we lose is going to be like 15,
[25:57] Speaker 3: and then seven, and then the fourth game we lose
[26:00] Speaker 3: by three. That's a good ask.
[26:03] Speaker 2: That's a good ask.
[26:04] Speaker 3: That's how you do it.
[26:06] Speaker 2: That's how you do it. In the right direction.
[26:09] Speaker 3: That's what I was thinking. When y'all was at your high,
[26:13] Speaker 3: y'all was whooping ass. How many teams did you, you
[26:18] Speaker 3: swept in the second round?
[26:19] Speaker 2: A couple. A couple, right?
[26:23] Speaker 3: Yeah, see, I got swept in the second round for
[26:25] Speaker 3: us to.
[26:25] Speaker 2: Realize how big of a difference it is. Mm-hmm.
[26:30] Speaker 3: So we played Chicago, you know, we 4-2'd them, right?
[26:35] Speaker 3: And then we thought we was ready for the heat.
[26:37] Speaker 3: We want that matchup, right? They was whooping our ass
[26:42] Speaker 3: so bad that Shaq didn't even, he didn't even come
[26:45] Speaker 3: to D.C. So we started two games there. They beat
[26:48] Speaker 3: us so bad, he didn't even show up. Like, yeah,
[26:51] Speaker 3: y'all good without me. Yeah, y'all good without me. He
[26:56] Speaker 3: didn't show up for game three and four. And nobody
[27:00] Speaker 3: in there was like.
[27:00] Speaker 2: Hell yeah, Shaq is going to do this.
[27:04] Speaker 3: More Dwayne Wade?
[27:05] Speaker 2: How many days we had in between our games when
[27:11] Speaker 2: we swept that Pistons team that won it, minus Rasheed Wallace,
[27:15] Speaker 2: we swept that team. Our Nets team swept that Pistons
[27:20] Speaker 2: team that won it in 04, we swept them.
[27:22] Speaker 3: In the second round?
[27:23] Speaker 2: Beat the shit out of them. These are two different things.
[27:29] Speaker 2: We swept the first round and second round.
[27:33] Speaker 1: Swept the Celtics. You had a six-game break there. Swept Detroit.
[27:39] Speaker 1: May 24th, your next game wasn't until June 4th against
[27:42] Speaker 1: the Spurs.
[27:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, we was whooping ass, man. I mean, listen. The
[27:49] Speaker 2: teams that we swept, Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, them teams,
[27:55] Speaker 2: Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, them was good teams
[28:00] Speaker 2: we was out there putting foot to ass to. It
[28:02] Speaker 2: wasn't like it was the bottom of the... No, we was... Yeah.
[28:07] Speaker 3: When you look at this team, they're just moving different.
[28:10] Speaker 3: We don't have it. There's no flaw that we can
[28:14] Speaker 3: take advantage of.
[28:15] Speaker 2: It's a different feeling when you take it at Florida.
[28:20] Speaker 2: When you know how good what you're displaying, it's a
[28:25] Speaker 2: different feeling going out there. You're expecting to go out there, bitch,
[28:28] Speaker 2: and do what we're doing. We're expecting each game to
[28:31] Speaker 2: look like we are better than y'all. And that's the
[28:35] Speaker 2: That's the energy that you come with, night in, night out.
[28:39] Speaker 2: Y'all got to deal with us. This is like we
[28:43] Speaker 2: got y'all numb and we finna display it. Y'all going
[28:46] Speaker 2: to play well, but ultimately we know we better than y'all.
[28:50] Speaker 3: It's like they know. What I like about them is
[28:54] Speaker 3: they actually know their roles. Lou Dort, he took five shots.
[29:00] Speaker 3: Made one, missed one, made one, missed, missed, no more.
[29:03] Speaker 2: Good job. Understand.
[29:06] Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[29:07] Speaker 3: Understand your roles.
[29:09] Speaker 2: Right?
[29:09] Speaker 3: So it's like they really, truly understand this game of
[29:13] Speaker 3: basketball and they are down packed. They're not sitting there
[29:18] Speaker 3: because I'm open, I'm just going to shoot it. Most
[29:21] Speaker 3: of those guys are open. If they're drivers, they drive.
[29:24] Speaker 3: We're going to drive and kick to a real shoot.
[29:25] Speaker 3: We're going to drive and see if we can make
[29:27] Speaker 3: a layup.
[29:27] Speaker 2: They play to their strengths. Yes. Right? And that's what
[29:30] Speaker 2: makes you good too. You play to your strengths. You're
[29:31] Speaker 2: not doing shit that, to your point, that I'm working
[29:35] Speaker 2: on it, but I'm not, I shouldn't be having more
[29:39] Speaker 2: jump shots than fucking layups if I'm still in the
[29:42] Speaker 2: process of working on my game, right? This is, yeah,
[29:47] Speaker 2: certain guys, this is shoot, yeah, you come in as
[29:49] Speaker 2: a shooter, that's what you do. But if you, yeah,
[29:53] Speaker 2: get your head down, get to the basket, man. What
[29:55] Speaker 2: was the matchups last night? As far as what? LeBron
[30:01] Speaker 2: played the four, right? I don't know. Yeah, LeBron played
[30:06] Speaker 2: the four last night. So his matchup was Chet. No,
[30:12] Speaker 2: that's Rui's matchup. Rui's going to have to go. That's
[30:14] Speaker 2: a bad matchup.
[30:17] Speaker 5: Yeah, I think LeBron was guarding either Harkinstein or Holmgren.
[30:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, he was guarding Harkinstein. Isaiah Harkinstein.
[30:26] Speaker 5: The other matchups, I believe Marcus Smart won his matchup.
[30:32] Speaker 5: Hands over fists. He won his matchup. Shea, 18 points.
[30:36] Speaker 5: He averages 30. You for sure won your matchup.
[30:40] Speaker 2: Huh? Oh, my God. What kind of logic is that?
[30:45] Speaker 2: Marcus Sparks held SGA to 18 points. No, he didn't.
[30:48] Speaker 3: They double teamed him. They double teamed that man the
[30:51] Speaker 3: whole time.
[30:51] Speaker 2: No, he was face guarding that man. At the beginning
[30:53] Speaker 2: of the game, but it was double teamed when he
[30:55] Speaker 2: called him. He was doing what he do best.
[30:57] Speaker 3: What was that?
[30:58] Speaker 2: Play defense. He was playing defense on SJ.
[31:00] Speaker 3: If you were playing defense, then we wouldn't have called him.
[31:02] Speaker 3: His best defense was, help! Help!
[31:05] Speaker 5: No, his defense is playing face guard in that man
[31:08] Speaker 5: while he's standing at half court. And the rest of
[31:11] Speaker 5: the team was playing one-on-one, driving the lane. He was
[31:14] Speaker 5: doing what, he took them out of their regular offense.
[31:17] Speaker 5: He did his job.
[31:18] Speaker 2: Wait, so let me just ask you, just so we understand.
[31:21] Speaker 3: He's bringing the ball up, and then you're guarding me,
[31:23] Speaker 3: and then Kenya comes and doubles to make me pass it.
[31:27] Speaker 3: Then you face guard me. That's your defense?
[31:29] Speaker 2: That was their defense. No, no, no.
[31:31] Speaker 3: I'm saying you said he played good defense because of that.
[31:33] Speaker 2: That was his defense. How about this? Don't call the
[31:36] Speaker 2: defender over here.
[31:37] Speaker 3: It didn't see what I'm going to do to you.
[31:39] Speaker 2: You was here all year when we was beating your
[31:41] Speaker 2: ass by 29, right? That's not our team strategy. No, no, no.
[31:44] Speaker 3: That's the team strategy here. But what I'm saying, when
[31:45] Speaker 3: we was beating that ass by 29, was you playing
[31:48] Speaker 3: good defense then when you was trying to play me one-on-one?
[31:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, he was. Yeah. Back to my point. Back to
[31:54] Speaker 2: my point. He averaged 34 points. 34 points. First round.
[31:57] Speaker 2: Back to my point. I'm just saying, 8 for 15
[32:00] Speaker 2: is a great game. All right.
[32:03] Speaker 3: He stopped himself because I was whipping that ass so
[32:05] Speaker 3: bad I don't need to shoot.
[32:06] Speaker 2: I was watching it.
[32:07] Speaker 5: Y'all get so triggered when I start talking, man.
[32:10] Speaker 2: It's like, you just don't want me to finish, huh?
[32:12] Speaker 3: You can finish.
[32:12] Speaker 2: It's just weird.
[32:13] Speaker 3: Just make sure it makes sense.
[32:15] Speaker 5: So the matchups, like I said, the winning matchups, Austin
[32:19] Speaker 5: Reeves lost his matchup.
[32:22] Speaker 2: AJ Mitchell, 18 points.
[32:25] Speaker 5: DeAndre Ayton, I would say he won his matchup as
[32:31] Speaker 5: far as him and Harkin Stein is concerned.
[32:33] Speaker 2: It's probably an equal. Rui, Lou Dort, he won his matchup. What?
[32:42] Speaker 5: You look at the rest of the team, there's players
[32:46] Speaker 5: on the bench that came. Jared McCain made big shots,
[32:49] Speaker 5: big time shots in the clutch.
[32:52] Speaker 2: Isaiah Joe made big shots.
[32:55] Speaker 5: Jared Vanderbilt going down affected them defensively. Jake and Luke
[32:59] Speaker 5: not showing up, it affected them. The Lakers had an
[33:02] Speaker 5: ability to come in and make it a game because
[33:04] Speaker 5: they competed up until the fourth quarter. I think they
[33:07] Speaker 5: have a chance to get at least one if they
[33:10] Speaker 5: play a little bit better than they did. You're looking
[33:13] Speaker 5: at Austin Reeves had eight points and they went on
[33:16] Speaker 5: the run in the fourth quarter. If he's playing better,
[33:18] Speaker 5: it changes the dynamic of the energy of the team
[33:22] Speaker 5: and everything that they were doing out there. I wasn't
[33:25] Speaker 5: disappointed in the way the Lakers played up until they
[33:30] Speaker 5: didn't make a run in the fourth. They didn't answer
[33:32] Speaker 5: the punch. But I think with the lack of depth
[33:36] Speaker 5: that they have and the way that they play, they
[33:38] Speaker 5: got a chance. Like, OKC didn't do anything crazy. They
[33:43] Speaker 5: went on a late run. Jeremy Kane came in, hit
[33:45] Speaker 5: some big shots, and it opened the gap. And I
[33:47] Speaker 5: think certain guys show up, and they win their matchups.
[33:51] Speaker 3: It's cool.
[33:52] Speaker 2: Them boys had eight days off in between games, man.
[33:55] Speaker 2: Rhythm was off, all that shit. They got it back
[33:57] Speaker 2: in the fourth quarter when they needed to and beat
[33:59] Speaker 2: them boys by 18, man. That shit ain't go. Them
[34:02] Speaker 2: boys ain't got a goddamn chance.
[34:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, I was thrown off by you saying who won
[34:09] Speaker 3: their spot. Who do you think was guarding who? I'm
[34:18] Speaker 3: trying to, because I think, I assumed you thought LeBron
[34:22] Speaker 3: was guarding Chet so you can just kill him. But
[34:25] Speaker 3: I'm trying to figure out who did you have guarding
[34:28] Speaker 3: who in this matchup? Because you said Lou Jordan, Rui.
[34:33] Speaker 5: A matchup doesn't necessarily mean that I'm guarding you the
[34:36] Speaker 5: whole game. It's me against you on the other side.
[34:40] Speaker 5: So it's your performance versus my performance.
[34:43] Speaker 3: Are you picking the performance?
[34:45] Speaker 2: I know what I'm saying.
[34:47] Speaker 3: Are you picking the performance to prove the point or
[34:50] Speaker 3: my matchup versus my matchup's point? So the guards versus
[34:53] Speaker 3: the guards, the centers versus the centers. Like you didn't
[34:56] Speaker 3: want to do that? You just decided you were just
[34:58] Speaker 3: going to pick and match. Like a little kid.
[35:01] Speaker 2: I was just going to do it my way.
[35:02] Speaker 3: Just put this sock on with this shoe.
[35:03] Speaker 5: Just going to do it my way. Do it my way,
[35:05] Speaker 5: not your way. I like doing it my way. Do
[35:08] Speaker 5: shit my way.
[35:09] Speaker 3: I'm just saying, that was just like how Nick dresses.
[35:12] Speaker 3: He just puts anything on.
[35:13] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[35:14] Speaker 5: But yet, sometimes it just makes sense because it's me.
[35:18] Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying? You make it make sense
[35:21] Speaker 5: if you're a hooper and you know what the fuck
[35:22] Speaker 5: I'm talking about.
[35:24] Speaker 3: No, we're Hoopers, and we don't know what you're talking about.
[35:26] Speaker 5: When you talk about when you're a matchup, when you're
[35:29] Speaker 5: in the locker room and you're talking scouting report, pregame, hey, guys,
[35:33] Speaker 5: when you're a matchup.
[35:35] Speaker 3: So, Rui having 18, and you said Lou Dort, that's
[35:40] Speaker 3: not the matchup.
[35:41] Speaker 2: It's a power forward versus a shooting guard. LeBron James
[35:47] Speaker 2: is playing power forward. Who is LeBron James guarding him?
[35:51] Speaker 2: It don't matter about who he's guarding. Because it's his matchup. No,
[35:53] Speaker 2: it's not.
[35:54] Speaker 5: Your matchup is in your position. Your position across from
[35:57] Speaker 5: you don't mean I'm guarding you. If we're double teaming
[36:00] Speaker 5: the whole game, I'm not guarding you.
[36:01] Speaker 3: Okay, so who is his position that he's matched up
[36:03] Speaker 3: across with? When they started the game off, who he
[36:05] Speaker 3: was starting with?
[36:06] Speaker 2: Whoever's the power forward. Whoever is the power forward. I'm
[36:11] Speaker 2: a power forward.
[36:12] Speaker 3: You're a power forward.
[36:12] Speaker 2: You're the center. I'm the center.
[36:14] Speaker 5: You're the small forward. I'm the small forward. You're the
[36:16] Speaker 5: shooting guard. I'm the shooting guard.
[36:18] Speaker 3: All right.
[36:19] Speaker 2: These are our matchups.
[36:20] Speaker 3: All right. So that's just just for shits and giggles.
[36:23] Speaker 3: All right. Who do you think was guarding Harkin Stein?
[36:26] Speaker 3: Because it looks like you didn't watch this game. Who
[36:28] Speaker 3: did you think was guarding Harkin Stein to start off with?
[36:31] Speaker 3: We're just going to say Aiden, right? That just makes sense.
[36:33] Speaker 8: Right?
[36:33] Speaker 2: That just makes perfect sense. Because they're sinners? Okay, yeah. Now,
[36:37] Speaker 2: who do you think was guarding? See, and this is more.
[36:39] Speaker 3: Who do you think was guarding Chet? See, this is
[36:42] Speaker 3: where you're messing. See, you thought it was LeBron, so
[36:43] Speaker 3: you can say LeBron lost his matchup.
[36:45] Speaker 5: I don't care who it is because the matchup isn't
[36:47] Speaker 5: about who you're guarding.
[36:48] Speaker 2: I just said that. Who is he matched up across with?
[36:51] Speaker 5: He's matched up across Chet because Chet's playing power forward.
[36:54] Speaker 3: Wrong. That was Rui's.
[36:55] Speaker 2: So that means LeBron was on Dort. Not Rui on Dort.
[36:59] Speaker 3: LeBron was on Dort.
[37:01] Speaker 2: Okay.
[37:01] Speaker 3: So who won that matchup?
[37:02] Speaker 2: LeBron won this matchup. Okay.
[37:04] Speaker 3: Now, who was the shooting guard? Austin Reeves versus who?
[37:08] Speaker 2: Joe? I don't.
[37:11] Speaker 3: Know.
[37:12] Speaker 2: I mean, you got your notes. I don't know. Oh, A.J.
[37:14] Speaker 2: Mitchell was the shooting guard. And how did A.J. Mitchell do?
[37:16] Speaker 2: 18 points in the game. Okay. So how many people,
[37:20] Speaker 2: how many Lakers won in matchups then? I don't know.
[37:23] Speaker 2: Not enough. They lost the game. A.N.
[37:28] Speaker 7: Versus.
[37:30] Speaker 3: So Aiden won his. Mm-hmm.
[37:34] Speaker 2: Rui lost his. Okay. And then LeBron James won his.
[37:40] Speaker 2: And then you said.
[37:41] Speaker 3: That Marcus Smart won his.
[37:45] Speaker 2: Are we arguing? No, no, no. I thought you didn't
[37:47] Speaker 2: want to argue. No, there's no argument. It's called facts.
[37:50] Speaker 2: I mean, I want you to be smarter. Right?
[37:52] Speaker 3: You just don't come over here with the... So that
[37:54] Speaker 3: means three Lakers won their positions then, right?
[37:57] Speaker 2: According to you. Yeah.
[38:00] Speaker 3: Right? Because Marcus Smart won his. You don't want to
[38:03] Speaker 3: believe that, Marcus. And then Rui won his. And then
[38:09] Speaker 3: LeBron won his.
[38:11] Speaker 2: Damn, how'd we lose? We can move on.
[38:17] Speaker 5: It's not hoop talk no more. We're just talking semantics
[38:20] Speaker 5: at this point because I.
[38:22] Speaker 2: You started me off blaming LeBron James at 41 for.
[38:27] Speaker 3: Not doing more in the fourth quarter.
[38:29] Speaker 5: You said the same thing. You said LeBron should have
[38:32] Speaker 5: took more shots and done more.
[38:35] Speaker 2: Did you not? Okay, so what are we talking about?
[38:38] Speaker 2: I was confused. How you explained what you was talking about,
[38:45] Speaker 2: the matchups and this, that. Yeah, it was not what
[38:51] Speaker 2: the way you explained it after. Yeah, I get it.
[38:55] Speaker 5: Anytime I say anything, it's kind of confusing to y'all
[38:57] Speaker 5: because you don't want to hear what I got to say.
[39:00] Speaker 5: I didn't say anything. When it comes off, it's nothing
[39:05] Speaker 5: but facts.
[39:06] Speaker 3: No, it wasn't.
[39:06] Speaker 2: I didn't say anything. When you hoop and you have matchup.
[39:10] Speaker 2: You said Marcus Smart won his matchup. That's what confused
[39:14] Speaker 2: me in that. Why would it confuse you? Because I
[39:18] Speaker 2: watched the game and I didn't think Marcus Smart won
[39:20] Speaker 2: his matchup. So why didn't Shea have his average? Because
[39:24] Speaker 2: it was whooping ass. Because they were double teaming him.
[39:27] Speaker 3: And it was relaxing.
[39:28] Speaker 2: No, they were fucking. The fact is they were double teaming.
[39:30] Speaker 2: double teaming him.
[39:31] Speaker 3: No, they weren't double teaming him.
[39:32] Speaker 2: He was face guarding him when he could. And when
[39:35] Speaker 2: he got a catch, they put two on him as
[39:37] Speaker 2: much as they could. Meaning why he wasn't that aggressive.
[39:42] Speaker 2: Meaning why he only shot three free throws.
[39:45] Speaker 5: But if I'm not focused on guarding my matchup, and
[39:49] Speaker 5: my matchup is my matchup, and my matchup has under
[39:52] Speaker 5: his average, and I go out there, I have 12 points,
[39:59] Speaker 5: which is more than my average. I have 12 of
[40:02] Speaker 5: my points. I'm actually doing what I need to do defensively,
[40:07] Speaker 5: and I've scored some points. But you're getting help, though.
[40:09] Speaker 5: It doesn't matter. We're talking about match-ups. We're talking about
[40:13] Speaker 5: the match-up. So your match-up don't come with help.
[40:16] Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on, hold on. So when they put
[40:19] Speaker 2: the names up on the board, right?
[40:20] Speaker 5: Four for 15. So are we arguing again? Because you
[40:23] Speaker 5: guys say you don't want to argue. I'm just making
[40:27] Speaker 5: solid points. Y'all are just arguing against us. The argue
[40:31] Speaker 5: comes this.
[40:32] Speaker 3: When there's facts involved, you argue the facts with opinions
[40:37] Speaker 3: and fake narratives. Like the fake narrative was you wanted
[40:41] Speaker 3: to start it off by putting LeBron on Chet. So
[40:44] Speaker 3: you can see and you can say Chet won that
[40:47] Speaker 3: that matchup. And then when I said he wasn't guarding Chet,
[40:50] Speaker 3: then you had to reverse it and then come up
[40:52] Speaker 3: with something. Then you just start putting anybody on anybody.
[40:54] Speaker 8: Right.
[40:55] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[40:55] Speaker 3: Rui Guard and Pistol Pete. Like you just do anything
[40:58] Speaker 3: when you get confused. So the argue comes when the
[41:03] Speaker 3: narrative just pushes into it instead of just the facts.
[41:06] Speaker 2: And that triggers you.
[41:08] Speaker 5: Yes, because we're... Okay, so I do a great job
[41:11] Speaker 5: of triggering y'all into getting off-topic about something that I'm
[41:15] Speaker 5: saying about my assessment.
[41:17] Speaker 2: We're not off-topic. It's called facts versus just whatever. The
[41:20] Speaker 2: facts are still going to be the facts. And we
[41:22] Speaker 2: watched the game. We saw them double-team him, right? We
[41:25] Speaker 2: saw him face-guarding him when he could, and we saw
[41:27] Speaker 2: him double-teaming him. Mm-hmm. And I just know when they
[41:30] Speaker 2: put the names up on the board for match-ups, and
[41:33] Speaker 2: when it said Gildix Alexander and Smart... Mm-hmm. It didn't
[41:39] Speaker 2: say slash fucking help. But that was the game plan. Yeah,
[41:45] Speaker 2: it didn't say help after Marcus. That was the game plan.
[41:48] Speaker 2: They double teamed him. Right? You said the matchups is matchups, right?
[41:52] Speaker 2: That was his matchup, right?
[41:54] Speaker 3: Marcus Moore went four for 15.
[41:55] Speaker 2: No, but he said that was his matchup.
[41:57] Speaker 4: It was two for eight.
[41:58] Speaker 3: Right?
[41:58] Speaker 2: From three, yeah.
[41:59] Speaker 3: That was his matchup, right?
[42:00] Speaker 2: That's called a good game. Him and Lemondaddy, seven for
[42:03] Speaker 2: 31 combined. Two for 13 for me? Yeah. That was
[42:07] Speaker 2: the only thing that was confusing to me that you
[42:08] Speaker 2: said Marcus Smart won his matchup. Other than that, hey.
[42:11] Speaker 4: But I don't think it's LeBron's fault they lost.
[42:13] Speaker 2: No, it's not his fault. I just think he should
[42:15] Speaker 2: have shot the ball more the way he had it going.
[42:18] Speaker 2: He only missed five shots.
[42:19] Speaker 3: I mean, but even if he's shooting the ball more,
[42:21] Speaker 3: what does that mean?
[42:21] Speaker 2: But he only missed five shots, so if he's– That's
[42:24] Speaker 2: all I'm saying. I don't know if they would. They
[42:26] Speaker 2: still probably lose.
[42:27] Speaker 3: More than likely.
[42:28] Speaker 2: No, no, for sure. They still lose. I'm just saying,
[42:30] Speaker 2: but the way he had it going, you 12 for 17.
[42:32] Speaker 2: Just take 30 more shots. I ain't saying 30 more shots.
[42:39] Speaker 2: 30 more shots. But there's just, at the end of
[42:41] Speaker 2: the day. With that team, he gets 25 shots. That's
[42:45] Speaker 2: why I'm like Luke Kinnar. Like, whoa. Six more shots.
[42:49] Speaker 2: You can't play this game 29 minutes and take three shots.
[42:52] Speaker 2: Not on this team. I'm eight more shots, my bad.
[42:54] Speaker 2: Like the three, that's not on this team. This team
[42:57] Speaker 2: needs all the scoring they can get from pure scores.
[43:01] Speaker 2: So you got to shoot this ball.
[43:03] Speaker 3: So who's, so only, so, so there's no one to blame.
[43:06] Speaker 2: They're just, they're, they're a whole different breed of a car.
[43:09] Speaker 4: No, I'm just saying, so only Brian Rui, Luke Canar
[43:13] Speaker 4: and AR should be really shooting that are scores.
[43:15] Speaker 3: That, that I don't mind taking shots. You're going to
[43:18] Speaker 3: take shots. Everybody else, if you're making, keep shooting. If
[43:23] Speaker 3: you're missing, have a limit. That's not what you do.
[43:26] Speaker 2: Well, who's that on then?
[43:27] Speaker 1: Because you got Canard who's got like 11 points in
[43:29] Speaker 1: the last three.
[43:31] Speaker 2: The only way for him not to shoot is not
[43:33] Speaker 2: to play him. Somebody told him something. You know that. Yeah,
[43:36] Speaker 2: but I'm going to say it.
[43:37] Speaker 3: I mean, Canard played 30 minutes in the last three games.
[43:40] Speaker 3: You don't go, since he's been here, you're not that
[43:44] Speaker 3: aggressive in the shots you take to then not even
[43:48] Speaker 3: look at the basket anymore. Now, you know what I mean?
[43:53] Speaker 3: That just seems so weird. Even them last games in Houston.
[43:58] Speaker 3: It's 11 points in his last three games. We was
[44:01] Speaker 3: watching you, bro. I know what you do.
[44:04] Speaker 2: Remember when I asked you that? I was like, man, hey,
[44:07] Speaker 2: did someone talk to you after the 55?
[44:09] Speaker 3: Somebody had to say something for you not to start.
[44:11] Speaker 2: And someone said something. And I'm telling you, don't listen.
[44:15] Speaker 3: Don't listen. They ain't going to be here next year.
[44:22] Speaker 2: Don't listen. Don't listen. Let's talk a little more about
[44:25] Speaker 2: Austin Reeves.
[44:26] Speaker 1: Had his second lowest scoring output, worst shooting game in
[44:30] Speaker 1: his playoff career Tuesday. So in his three games this postseason,
[44:33] Speaker 1: Reeves averaging 15 points, five assists, four rebounds, shooting 30%
[44:37] Speaker 1: from the field, 12% from three.
[44:41] Speaker 2: So I will start with you.
[44:42] Speaker 1: Did Austin Reeves make the right decision coming back from
[44:44] Speaker 1: his oblique strain to play in this postseason?
[44:48] Speaker 5: Yeah, just like everybody else who want to compete. You know,
[44:51] Speaker 5: make the decision, come back. Whether you're playing hurt or not,
[44:54] Speaker 5: try to help your team. You know, three for 16
[44:58] Speaker 5: didn't help just because the shots didn't go down. Like
[45:02] Speaker 5: LeBron says, game one. Same with the Spurs, same with
[45:06] Speaker 5: anybody else that lost to game one. You got to
[45:07] Speaker 5: come in, you got to come back, you got to
[45:09] Speaker 5: figure out what you did wrong, do it right. And
[45:11] Speaker 5: I think with Austin Reeves, Getting good looks is an
[45:15] Speaker 5: important part because you're still playing against an elite defense.
[45:18] Speaker 5: It's not going to let you get anything easy. Same
[45:21] Speaker 5: with Luke Kennard. Can't just come in and just turn
[45:24] Speaker 5: it on. You got to get good looks. His teammates
[45:27] Speaker 5: got to set you up. And between everybody who shot
[45:31] Speaker 5: in the starting lineup, shit, everybody shot.
[45:33] Speaker 2: Over 10 shots.
[45:35] Speaker 5: So that leaves everybody else on the bench in their
[45:38] Speaker 5: matchups between Jake and Jackson and Luke.
[45:41] Speaker 2: There ain't much difference.
[45:44] Speaker 5: Room for you to take shots, to be honest. Especially
[45:47] Speaker 5: if LeBron's going to take more shots. Rui played exceptionally well,
[45:55] Speaker 5: 7 for 13.
[45:56] Speaker 2: He's definitely stepped up this postseason.
[45:59] Speaker 5: He looks like he's comfortable with his role, but you
[46:05] Speaker 5: have a bad night. You know, Austin had a bad night.
[46:08] Speaker 5: Marcus had a bad night. DeAndre was solid, but he
[46:12] Speaker 5: could still do more. Accountability is for everybody, I think.
[46:16] Speaker 5: Especially JJ. He's got to figure out how to change
[46:18] Speaker 5: the offense depending on what OKC is doing. They're not
[46:21] Speaker 5: scheming up. They're not doubling anything. They're just playing solid.
[46:25] Speaker 5: They just got to figure out how to get Austin
[46:28] Speaker 5: in the game because if you're not going to put
[46:32] Speaker 5: him in position to score the ball outside of what
[46:34] Speaker 5: you've been doing all season, it's not going to be good.
[46:39] Speaker 1: Looked like he also suffered from the tight whistle in
[46:42] Speaker 1: the game. Obviously tried to do his Standard Austin Reeves,
[46:45] Speaker 1: foul drawing, often known as foul baiting. Wasn't getting a
[46:48] Speaker 1: lot of calls. Only shot two free throws in the game. Mr. B,
[46:53] Speaker 1: when you look at Austin Reeves so far this postseason,
[46:56] Speaker 1: what's your assessment of the man known as Lemon Daddy?
[47:02] Speaker 4: I mean, he didn't really need to come back, honestly.
[47:05] Speaker 4: I mean, with a lot of guys who've, who came
[47:09] Speaker 4: back in the heat of the battle like this. You know,
[47:12] Speaker 4: you see the situation in Boston. You know, I was
[47:15] Speaker 4: going over there. And then with him with his contract here,
[47:19] Speaker 4: I mean, I just don't see, you know, why you
[47:21] Speaker 4: come back and put yourself in this type of situation.
[47:25] Speaker 4: I know you want to compete, but, you know, health
[47:28] Speaker 4: is everything. So that's just how I view it.
[47:33] Speaker 1: Gil, do you feel like Austin Reeves can be the
[47:34] Speaker 1: difference in this series if he can actually get back right?
[47:37] Speaker 2: No.
[47:38] Speaker 4: Okay, well.
[47:40] Speaker 2: They're just better. So what?
[47:44] Speaker 3: Like, when you remember when the Chicago Bulls was on
[47:45] Speaker 3: their run? Like, you can do all the game planning
[47:48] Speaker 3: you want. That's just a whole different team that's oiled
[47:52] Speaker 3: very well. Like, we don't have our best player who
[47:56] Speaker 3: averages 33, who is the MVP candidate, to help us
[48:01] Speaker 3: with this team.
[48:03] Speaker 2: So.
[48:05] Speaker 3: the honesty right now, because, you know, you know, it
[48:09] Speaker 3: ain't game day, but, um, the honesty is it's, it's,
[48:13] Speaker 3: we're not, they're not in that league yet with the lineup.
[48:17] Speaker 2: That we have. Right.
[48:18] Speaker 3: So here, you just go out there and just play
[48:21] Speaker 3: as hard as you can. So there's really nothing Austin
[48:25] Speaker 3: can do to help the team.
[48:28] Speaker 2: He can help himself.
[48:31] Speaker 3: Um, you know, right now this is, It sucks because, you.
[48:35] Speaker 2: Know, all year he's been great. And at the end
[48:38] Speaker 2: of the day.
[48:39] Speaker 3: How you play in these last few games is how
[48:43] Speaker 3: the market is going to dictate you. Right?
[48:45] Speaker 2: If you come out here and you got 40-40-40, that
[48:47] Speaker 2: 240 you're getting.
[48:49] Speaker 3: If you come out here still shooting like this, they're
[48:51] Speaker 3: going to try to lowball you in the summer. And
[48:54] Speaker 3: that is weighing on his head. And the fact that
[48:57] Speaker 3: he's coming back after missing, what.
[48:59] Speaker 2: A month? Right?
[49:02] Speaker 3: A month of some change. Like, he's out of shape.
[49:03] Speaker 3: He's out of rhythm. Now he's pushed into playoffs.
[49:10] Speaker 4: That's a tall task.
[49:12] Speaker 2: You're missing that much and.
[49:14] Speaker 3: Then you're coming right into playoffs to try to get
[49:16] Speaker 3: your rhythm. Playing against a team that is lacking. down defensively,
[49:22] Speaker 3: that's going to get the whistle. He has to pick
[49:27] Speaker 3: his spots, change his game just a little bit, let
[49:32] Speaker 3: some of that heavy lifting go to LeBron, and even
[49:35] Speaker 3: see if they can get some fouls. And then once
[49:36] Speaker 3: that penalty starts, now you play wild man basketball. But
[49:42] Speaker 3: what you got against everybody else, you're not going to
[49:44] Speaker 3: get against them. Those little whistles, maybe when you get
[49:46] Speaker 3: home game three and four, you might get those calls,
[49:48] Speaker 3: but you're not going to get those calls up there.
[49:50] Speaker 3: You're going to look like James Harden did when he
[49:52] Speaker 3: was playing Miami, trying to get them flop calls. They're
[49:56] Speaker 3: just going to look at your life.
[49:56] Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
[49:59] Speaker 3: So you're going to go out there and look goofy.
[50:00] Speaker 3: You just got to pick your poison. Try to shoot
[50:04] Speaker 3: within the first two minutes before the fatigue kick in.
[50:06] Speaker 2: You know. But, you know. There's really nothing. They shouldn't
[50:13] Speaker 2: be going out here stressing.
[50:15] Speaker 4: Hey, if Luka played game one, did y'all win? The
[50:19] Speaker 4: way OKC played.
[50:23] Speaker 2: How much did we lose by?
[50:24] Speaker 4: Y'all lost by 18 and a.
[50:27] Speaker 2: No. Because that means Shea going to play harder.
[50:33] Speaker 4: Yeah, but y'all still double him, and he still had
[50:35] Speaker 4: the same performance under 18.
[50:37] Speaker 2: Okay, I'm just going to be honest. Still got a
[50:38] Speaker 2: lot of ability. Let's just going to be honest. If
[50:40] Speaker 2: you got to double a player in a playoff, you lost.
[50:44] Speaker 4: But y'all just beat Houston doing it.
[50:46] Speaker 3: Who we double?
[50:47] Speaker 4: Kevin Durant.
[50:48] Speaker 2: He didn't play. He doubled himself. He played, what, one game,
[50:52] Speaker 2: two games? Yeah. One. One game. We didn't have to
[50:55] Speaker 2: double nobody. I mean, that was a big game. What
[50:58] Speaker 2: I'm saying is if— You can only.
[51:01] Speaker 3: Double a team in a playoffs and be successful if
[51:04] Speaker 3: they have someone on the court that can't shoot the ball.
[51:10] Speaker 3: So if I'm going to go over there and double
[51:11] Speaker 3: and they swing, swing, swing, we don't have to worry
[51:13] Speaker 3: about the last guy getting the ball, shooting it. He's
[51:16] Speaker 3: going to pass it back out and then we just
[51:17] Speaker 3: wasted some time. But the fact that they have other
[51:20] Speaker 3: shooters on the court that's going to make plays, play
[51:23] Speaker 3: straight up.
[51:25] Speaker 2: You're just passing the points.
[51:26] Speaker 3: Around because even their defenders are capable shooters.
[51:32] Speaker 4: Yeah, but I'd rather lose. I mean, listen, that means
[51:34] Speaker 4: we're in a good position. If he's averaging under 20
[51:37] Speaker 4: and seven turnovers and we're doubling like that, if we
[51:40] Speaker 4: had Luka.
[51:41] Speaker 3: That's not how you look at it.
[51:43] Speaker 2: That's not how you look at it. If I have
[51:46] Speaker 2: a dollar in my pocket.
[51:48] Speaker 3: If Luka's playing that game, you guys win. What I'm saying,
[51:49] Speaker 3: if I have a dollar in my pocket and I
[51:51] Speaker 3: put 50 cents over here, I still have a dollar. Right?
[51:55] Speaker 3: Chet gets the points.
[51:57] Speaker 2: Right? Someone's getting the points, right? If Chet averages.
[52:01] Speaker 4: 15 points and Ron came out.
[52:04] Speaker 3: What I'm saying is the points are still there. He just,
[52:08] Speaker 3: just someone else got it. That's all.
[52:11] Speaker 2: So he has 18.
[52:13] Speaker 3: Chet gets the 12 extra than he normally has.
[52:16] Speaker 2: I'm just saying. I think I see what you're saying.
[52:19] Speaker 2: So you see what I'm saying? Are you adding 33
[52:21] Speaker 2: points to the game?
[52:23] Speaker 3: I'm at his presence, just him being out there and
[52:25] Speaker 3: being able to.
[52:26] Speaker 2: Still a liability. You want to add 25?
[52:28] Speaker 4: But we're doubling, so now we're moving. At the end
[52:30] Speaker 4: of the day, we're still taking SGL at the game.
[52:33] Speaker 4: Every time he come up, we double. Everybody, all right, boom.
[52:35] Speaker 4: You got to keep making plays the whole time. They're
[52:38] Speaker 4: not used to that.
[52:38] Speaker 5: Does Luka get 25? You think Luka gets 25 if
[52:41] Speaker 5: you play? Okay, so he lost by how many?
[52:44] Speaker 4: They lost by 18 and then they play and they
[52:46] Speaker 4: play and they OKC struggle.
[52:47] Speaker 2: Is that simple?
[52:48] Speaker 3: I mean, what would it look like?
[52:50] Speaker 2: Simple math. See, that's that shit I'm talking about.
[52:52] Speaker 3: I'm just no, I'm just that that that he we
[52:56] Speaker 3: don't argue about something that you can't prove.
[53:00] Speaker 2: So what are we talking about it for? What are
[53:05] Speaker 2: you even talking about it for?
[53:07] Speaker 3: If Luka played and he scored 33, we'd win the game.
[53:10] Speaker 5: Why would we even be talking about your hypothetical, Brandon,
[53:14] Speaker 5: if we can't prove it until I come in and
[53:16] Speaker 5: say something like this and now we can't prove it?
[53:19] Speaker 2: What the fuck are we talking about?
[53:21] Speaker 3: We got beat by 29 every game.
[53:23] Speaker 2: It's not even my hypothetical. I'm just adding on to it.
[53:27] Speaker 2: He got hurt in the last one. Can we go
[53:31] Speaker 2: to the games?
[53:32] Speaker 3: This is all we can do. We go to the
[53:33] Speaker 3: games Luka played in and see what that score was
[53:35] Speaker 3: and how much Luka scored.
[53:37] Speaker 2: Luka played in two of the games. Okay.
[53:40] Speaker 1: November 12th and then the April 2nd game. The one
[53:42] Speaker 1: he got hurt in? Yeah, so the November 12th game
[53:44] Speaker 1: he had 19-7-7. So they guarded his ass, okay. He
[53:46] Speaker 1: had 12 points in 26 minutes.
[53:47] Speaker 2: Okay. So 12 points in 26 minutes and then the
[53:49] Speaker 2: first one? 19. 19.
[53:50] Speaker 7: And how many minutes? 33, I believe.
[54:02] Speaker 2: 33. 33 minutes?
[54:03] Speaker 3: So he was a putt goal player. Another seven, eight minutes. Okay,
[54:06] Speaker 3: so 33 minutes. So he asked you a question about
[54:10] Speaker 3: can Lucas score 25? And if he scored 25, we'll win.
[54:16] Speaker 4: Last night.
[54:16] Speaker 2: Last night. He didn't do it during the regular season.
[54:28] Speaker 2: So the answer is no. You don't think he would
[54:30] Speaker 2: score 25? That's what the point of you there making.
[54:32] Speaker 2: The game is the game. Can't change the game. I
[54:35] Speaker 2: think he can. I'm not. Y'all don't. I do. I know.
[54:39] Speaker 2: So that's the difference.
[54:40] Speaker 5: No one's going to be right based on our opinion
[54:43] Speaker 5: of what he would or wouldn't do because it's hypothetical.
[54:45] Speaker 2: Based on the game that they played, he didn't do it.
[54:48] Speaker 2: This wouldn't have been the game. The game that they
[54:50] Speaker 2: have played that's on record, the one that's on paper
[54:53] Speaker 2: that we can go back and look at, he scored
[54:55] Speaker 2: 19 in 33 minutes and 12 in 26 minutes. So
[55:00] Speaker 2: that tells me that he didn't. We wouldn't go get
[55:03] Speaker 2: the 25 in the game that they played.
[55:05] Speaker 5: Somebody that's averaging 33 points a game. He didn't against
[55:08] Speaker 5: that team. But he could have had more than that.
[55:11] Speaker 5: He could have had more. Not against this team, he didn't.
[55:13] Speaker 5: He could have.
[55:14] Speaker 2: But he did not. Because he didn't play. Because he
[55:17] Speaker 2: didn't play. He already played. Because he didn't play. They
[55:21] Speaker 2: already played. It's Luka Doncic, bro.
[55:23] Speaker 3: We have to argue with that.
[55:24] Speaker 2: So you can.
[55:25] Speaker 5: Hold Luka Doncic under 15 points for a series?
[55:30] Speaker 2: You did it for two games. I actually scored 19
[55:33] Speaker 2: in one game, so they didn't hold him under. He
[55:34] Speaker 2: scored 19 first.
[55:36] Speaker 5: So you think that a 33-point-a-night score can not go
[55:39] Speaker 5: and score more?
[55:40] Speaker 2: I can only go on what he did with his
[55:42] Speaker 2: team beforehand.
[55:43] Speaker 5: So how much did Austin Reeves average with that series?
[55:46] Speaker 2: Because he had eight points. I'm pretty sure he would
[55:50] Speaker 2: have scored more. I know what's facts. The fact is
[55:54] Speaker 2: he scored 19 and 12 against them during the regular season.
[55:57] Speaker 2: He would have scored 25. You don't know that.
[55:59] Speaker 3: Well, if you're saying that, because Austin Reeves probably would
[56:02] Speaker 3: have averaged more in the regular season than he is now.
[56:06] Speaker 3: But I can't penalize him for just coming back being
[56:08] Speaker 3: in shape. But the reason the hypothetical don't work here
[56:12] Speaker 3: is you're assuming that an MVP candidate is on the
[56:17] Speaker 3: floor And the defense won't be focused or geared on him.
[56:22] Speaker 3: So instead of Lou Dort guarding LeBron James, he's going
[56:26] Speaker 3: to guard Luka.
[56:28] Speaker 2: Right? So it changes. Just like we decided to double Shea,
[56:34] Speaker 2: they can do the same thing. We don't know.
[56:36] Speaker 3: But you don't look at the game and say, oh, yeah,
[56:38] Speaker 3: we're going to add him and then everything.
[56:40] Speaker 2: Is going to be gravy.
[56:41] Speaker 3: That's just a pointless argument. Because we go with that.
[56:46] Speaker 2: He could do it.
[56:47] Speaker 5: I guess that's why LeBron said, what was the difference?
[56:51] Speaker 5: We're missing 33 points.
[56:55] Speaker 2: He wouldn't go score. And when they lost by 29.
[56:57] Speaker 5: Why would LeBron say that so comfortably about a post-game
[57:02] Speaker 5: presser when asked about what were you missing out there tonight? Well,
[57:09] Speaker 5: he actually said 37 and then he fixed himself and.
[57:12] Speaker 2: He was like 33. It's like, oh yeah, he averages 33.
[57:15] Speaker 2: I mean, there you go. Yeah. That's what we were missing? Mm-hmm.
[57:20] Speaker 2: I didn't say it. LeBron said it. LeBron playing that game.
[57:23] Speaker 5: So tell LeBron to stop with the hypotheticals. Because LeBron
[57:26] Speaker 5: said that shit.
[57:27] Speaker 2: I didn't say it. LeBron said that shit.
[57:30] Speaker 5: LeBron was using the hypothetical as far as like, hey, man,
[57:34] Speaker 5: we're missing 33 points a game on our team.
[57:36] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. That's what was missing tonight. They were missing the
[57:41] Speaker 2: same 33 against Houston.
[57:42] Speaker 5: So, to your point, if Luka plays, LeBron feels better
[57:47] Speaker 5: after the press conference about what they missed.
[57:49] Speaker 2: Were they missing the same 33 points against the Houston Rockets?
[57:51] Speaker 2: They was missing them same 33 points, right? Did they
[57:54] Speaker 2: need them 33 then?
[57:56] Speaker 5: LeBron didn't say that in the press conference. He didn't
[58:00] Speaker 5: say he needed it. So they need them 33 now.
[58:02] Speaker 5: Because they just lost. Because they just lost by 20.
[58:05] Speaker 2: What is the hypothetical? They lost by 20. Hypothetical.
[58:08] Speaker 3: Someone saying that we are missing that is very different
[58:12] Speaker 3: than saying he could score 25.
[58:16] Speaker 2: What's the difference? You're What is the difference? Yes, what's
[58:20] Speaker 2: the difference?
[58:21] Speaker 3: We're missing someone. We're missing our 33 points. That's a
[58:24] Speaker 3: difference maker.
[58:24] Speaker 2: When asked what? When asked what are we missing?
[58:28] Speaker 3: We're missing our star player.
[58:30] Speaker 2: And what does that insinuate?
[58:32] Speaker 3: We're missing our star player.
[58:33] Speaker 2: If we had our star player, what? No, he would
[58:36] Speaker 2: have said exactly what you said if he would have
[58:37] Speaker 2: thought what you were thinking. Like, yeah, if Luka was here, yeah,
[58:40] Speaker 2: he could have scored 30. He could have scored 30 points.
[58:41] Speaker 2: He could have. But no, that ain't what he said.
[58:43] Speaker 2: He didn't say it, but it still sounds like the
[58:46] Speaker 2: same thing. No, sounds and being two different. Okay, so
[58:49] Speaker 2: it is the same thing. No, it's not. So when
[58:51] Speaker 2: you say.
[58:52] Speaker 3: No, it's not.
[58:53] Speaker 2: Okay, what were you guys missing tonight, LeBron?
[58:56] Speaker 5: We were missing 33 points from our main guy.
[58:59] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. We're missing our best player. Which means what, LeBron?
[59:02] Speaker 5: If he was playing, what, you guys would have had
[59:04] Speaker 5: a better chance of winning?
[59:06] Speaker 3: Better chance of winning.
[59:06] Speaker 2: Better chance of winning. Is that a hypothetical?
[59:08] Speaker 3: No.
[59:08] Speaker 2: A better chance? Yes.
[59:09] Speaker 3: A better chance.
[59:10] Speaker 2: He's not saying what he could have scored or what
[59:11] Speaker 2: he think he would have scored.
[59:13] Speaker 5: He's saying we're missing 33 points.
[59:15] Speaker 2: Yes.
[59:16] Speaker 5: And if he would have been playing, he wouldn't be
[59:19] Speaker 5: asking me this question about what we were missing. Because
[59:22] Speaker 5: we would have our 33-point-a-night guy out there to help
[59:25] Speaker 5: us close the gap.
[59:27] Speaker 2: Close the gap and you're still wrong.
[59:30] Speaker 3: That was easy.
[59:32] Speaker 2: This is crazy. What are we talking? We're not talking
[59:35] Speaker 2: hoop no more? No, we're talking hoop. Y'all got to
[59:38] Speaker 2: make sense of it.
[59:40] Speaker 3: We are making sense. No. I listened to every word
[59:43] Speaker 3: you said.
[59:44] Speaker 2: You're not making sense. I said LeBron. Listen to what
[59:47] Speaker 2: LeBron said. He said missing. They asked him, what's missing?
[59:52] Speaker 5: 33 points from our main guy.
[59:55] Speaker 2: We lost by 18. And he didn't say it because
[59:58] Speaker 2: he would have been on the floor that week. We
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: don't have to. Yes, he does. Everyone listening knows what
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: he's saying. No, we heard what he said. We already
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: said it. We're missing.
[1:00:08] Speaker 3: We're missing our best player tonight.
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: Are we a better team with Luka Doncic on the floor?
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: Yes.
[1:00:14] Speaker 2: Like Houston says, hey, what happened?
[1:00:16] Speaker 5: Are we 33 points better as a team with Luka
[1:00:19] Speaker 5: Doncic on the floor?
[1:00:21] Speaker 2: Yes. Did we lose by 18? Yes. So they didn't
[1:00:25] Speaker 2: need the 33 against Houston. We're talking about the OKC.
[1:00:29] Speaker 2: We're not talking about Houston. But he's still missing the 33.
[1:00:31] Speaker 2: We're talking about OKC. Still missing the 33. He's missing
[1:00:34] Speaker 2: it against this old.
[1:00:34] Speaker 3: Can we go back to what Bron said?
[1:00:36] Speaker 2: It is. It ain't about what Bron said.
[1:00:39] Speaker 5: Now it's not about what LeBron said. It's about what
[1:00:42] Speaker 5: I said now.
[1:00:43] Speaker 2: Because it didn't insinuate nothing. Okay, can I ask you something?
[1:00:45] Speaker 2: Luka's playing, okay?
[1:00:47] Speaker 3: See, this is called we can see what a hypothetical sounds.
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: Guys, you got to stop getting triggered, man.
[1:00:53] Speaker 3: All right.
[1:00:53] Speaker 2: No, no.
[1:00:54] Speaker 3: If Luka played, right, and he took his shots, does
[1:00:58] Speaker 3: LeBron James.
[1:00:59] Speaker 2: Still take 17? You think? Yes. Okay. Does Rui still
[1:01:03] Speaker 2: take 13? Possibility. Okay. Does Aiton take 12? No.
[1:01:10] Speaker 3: Okay.
[1:01:11] Speaker 2: Does Smart take 15 shots? No.
[1:01:13] Speaker 3: Okay.
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: So does Austin Reeves still take 16? Yeah.
[1:01:18] Speaker 3: Okay. So we have 85 shots here. So we're going
[1:01:21] Speaker 3: to take more shots with Luka. The same or less.
[1:01:24] Speaker 3: Because if Luka's going to be averaging 33, other points
[1:01:28] Speaker 3: and other shots has.
[1:01:28] Speaker 2: To come from somebody.
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: You don't just fucking just come and just add 33
[1:01:33] Speaker 3: and fucking 20.
[1:01:34] Speaker 2: They shot 85 points.
[1:01:35] Speaker 3: What, are you going to add another 20 to the game?
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: How do you do that?
[1:01:39] Speaker 2: Is that a hypothetical? How do you do that?
[1:01:41] Speaker 5: Did you just say a whole hypothetical about what will happen?
[1:01:44] Speaker 2: It's reality. Reality is this. We took 85 shots this game.
[1:01:51] Speaker 2: Luka played slower.
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: So we can go off of Luka's average when he
[1:01:55] Speaker 3: plays with the team and how many shots they take, right?
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: So if they take, let's say, 89 with Luka, that
[1:02:02] Speaker 3: means there's only.
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: Four shots if you add Luka.
[1:02:05] Speaker 3: So that means everybody else is taken away from Luka's shooting,
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: which means they wouldn't have it. You don't say 85
[1:02:12] Speaker 3: shots without Luka and then you add all the Luka.
[1:02:15] Speaker 2: Shots and it would win by seven. We won by
[1:02:18] Speaker 2: seven because we scored 135. That's not how you do this.
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: What you add is Luka averages how many assists? That's
[1:02:25] Speaker 2: not how you do that. How many assists does Luka average? Seven,
[1:02:28] Speaker 2: I believe, right? Eight? Eight assists?
[1:02:30] Speaker 5: So if you did try to take away his points,
[1:02:33] Speaker 5: he's still passing the ball for assists.
[1:02:35] Speaker 2: Okay.
[1:02:36] Speaker 5: So there are going to be guys still contributing to
[1:02:38] Speaker 5: the fact that he's drawing two people, which, you know.
[1:02:42] Speaker 2: I got a basketball question.
[1:02:44] Speaker 5: Y'all might have to come in and guard him. And
[1:02:46] Speaker 5: he drives and is bringing who was doing that for
[1:02:49] Speaker 5: the Lakers.
[1:02:50] Speaker 2: Nobody. Luca does for the Lakers. Can I ask you
[1:02:52] Speaker 2: a basketball question? What the Lakers can't do for themselves.
[1:02:54] Speaker 2: Can I? So with him on the floor, like. Say it. 26.
[1:02:58] Speaker 2: 26 for this one. Okay. If he's going, he's still,
[1:03:02] Speaker 2: how many his man giving is going to score? Who,
[1:03:05] Speaker 2: Lou Dort? No, no. Who, Lou Dort? Yeah, he can
[1:03:08] Speaker 2: definitely score. Six points? They're going to hide him. So
[1:03:11] Speaker 2: that's what he scored, right?
[1:03:12] Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
[1:03:13] Speaker 2: That's what he scored that game. And we're playing zone.
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: That's what he scored that game. And we play zone.
[1:03:16] Speaker 2: And you play zone. Not with Luka out there. He
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: don't want to score more than six. We're just going
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: to talk real sports. Right.
[1:03:24] Speaker 3: The Lakers averaged 26 assists during the regular season.
[1:03:29] Speaker 2: They had 26 last night.
[1:03:32] Speaker 3: So all the other people that's making the assist, they
[1:03:35] Speaker 3: wouldn't pass the ball because Luka has it. You know?
[1:03:41] Speaker 5: Is it two different styles of play when Luka's on
[1:03:43] Speaker 5: the floor and when Luka's not on the floor?
[1:03:45] Speaker 2: Yes, it is. Yeah. Okay.
[1:03:47] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:03:48] Speaker 2: Continue.
[1:03:50] Speaker 3: I'm sure you noticed it, right? There's a different style
[1:03:52] Speaker 3: of playing when Luka's on the court because it's all
[1:03:53] Speaker 3: Luka pick and roll and I'm going to do what
[1:03:55] Speaker 3: I'm going to do.
[1:03:56] Speaker 2: You know, just like any style, right? 26 was the
[1:03:58] Speaker 2: average while Luka was on the floor, right? It's a
[1:03:59] Speaker 2: different style. Compared to them sharing the ball, moving the
[1:04:02] Speaker 2: ball when he's not on the floor. Uh-huh.
[1:04:05] Speaker 3: So you just proved my point because that means them
[1:04:07] Speaker 3: sharing the ball. That means people are scoring that wouldn't
[1:04:09] Speaker 3: score if Luka was playing.
[1:04:11] Speaker 2: Thank you. That is easy. Did they not score last night?
[1:04:14] Speaker 2: That is easy. You see how easy that is? Not enough.
[1:04:17] Speaker 2: They didn't score last night? Not enough. They didn't score enough.
[1:04:21] Speaker 5: So when Luka plays, the ball moves to certain guys
[1:04:25] Speaker 5: because they're playing a certain style. The style that got them,
[1:04:31] Speaker 5: what was their ranking?
[1:04:33] Speaker 2: They were fourth in the Western Conference. They 1-0 right now.
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: They down one game? They are down one. I don't
[1:04:39] Speaker 2: know what the regular season. They do down one game now.
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: Game two on Wednesday. We have hope. Against a team
[1:04:44] Speaker 2: that they couldn't beat during the regular season.
[1:04:46] Speaker 3: Underdog. Hey, can y'all tell him what is the plus
[1:04:49] Speaker 3: minus when Luka's on the floor?
[1:04:55] Speaker 2: Lakers plus minus this season? No, no, no. Like two
[1:05:00] Speaker 2: betting stats. It'll tell you how valuable a player is
[1:05:03] Speaker 2: to a team. You know what I'm saying? Okay. So
[1:05:07] Speaker 2: let's say we average 115, right?
[1:05:10] Speaker 3: And then if Luka, he might be just a minus
[1:05:14] Speaker 3: 3 or minus 7. It all depends.
[1:05:17] Speaker 2: So basically, if we score, you just add it.
[1:05:21] Speaker 3: So for your theory, he would be minus 25?
[1:05:26] Speaker 2: It's going to be probably like minus five or four.
[1:05:28] Speaker 2: We will find out the answer to that question.
[1:05:30] Speaker 3: So that means if they score 90, it'll just be 94.
[1:05:32] Speaker 3: Game two on Thursday.
[1:05:34] Speaker 2: It'll just be 94. Let's keep this thing moving, though.
[1:05:37] Speaker 2: We've got more playoff basketball. When is game two? Tomorrow.
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: Today is Wednesday. Yeah. And you thought you had me.
[1:05:43] Speaker 3: No, no, no, no.
[1:05:44] Speaker 2: I thought I had you. No, I didn't think I
[1:05:46] Speaker 2: had you. I was like, damn, they got a lot
[1:05:47] Speaker 2: of days off in between the game. I'm throwing back Thursday.
[1:05:50] Speaker 2: It is. Yeah, no, I thought today was... Tuesday for
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: a second, but now you.
[1:05:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, let's keep this thing moving. So, all right I
[1:05:59] Speaker 1: got to put you on to something. I've been rocking

[1:06:40] Speaker 1: GLD is worn by guys like Justin Bieber, Micah Parsons,
[1:06:44] Speaker 1: Malik Neighbors, and Josiah Johnson.
[1:06:46] Speaker 2: And the list goes on.

[1:07:00] Speaker 1: tell them our show sent you.
[1:07:02] Speaker 2: Work hard. Change the game. GLD.
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: All right, let's shift over to the Eastern Conference now.
[1:07:07] Speaker 1: The Cavs and top-seeded Pistons met in Detroit Tuesday night.
[1:07:10] Speaker 3: Four to six.
[1:07:11] Speaker 2: Huh? Four to six points. Okay.
[1:07:13] Speaker 4: Thank you, guys.
[1:07:14] Speaker 2: So Luger playing adds four to six points.
[1:07:17] Speaker 4: Four to six points?
[1:07:19] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. Yeah. How do we know that? Isn't that hypothetical?
[1:07:26] Speaker 3: No, that's called Vegas.
[1:07:27] Speaker 2: Jesus Christ. It's called a Vegas line and.
[1:07:29] Speaker 3: Spread, sir.
[1:07:30] Speaker 2: Because he didn't play last night. We would never know
[1:07:34] Speaker 2: how many points he would. It goes off the production
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: of the player. Kind of weird.
[1:07:38] Speaker 3: It goes off the production of the player.
[1:07:39] Speaker 2: Kind of weird.
[1:07:40] Speaker 5: What?
[1:07:41] Speaker 2: Kind of weird.
[1:07:41] Speaker 3: That's weird?
[1:07:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird.
[1:07:43] Speaker 3: Research is weird?
[1:07:44] Speaker 2: No, because he didn't play. It's hypothetical, so we wouldn't
[1:07:46] Speaker 2: know how many points.
[1:07:46] Speaker 3: No, it's to the team.
[1:07:47] Speaker 2: We don't know how many points he would score.
[1:07:49] Speaker 3: No, to the team.
[1:07:50] Speaker 2: It's the weirdest shit ever in the world.
[1:07:51] Speaker 5: And then we say you don't want to talk hypotheticals
[1:07:53] Speaker 5: on the show.
[1:07:54] Speaker 3: Okay, sir, this is called a fact. Let me tell
[1:07:56] Speaker 3: you what a fact is. There's 82 games, right? Mm-hmm.
[1:07:59] Speaker 3: So if he plays and every time he played he
[1:08:02] Speaker 3: scored 116 and every time he didn't play he scored 110,
[1:08:07] Speaker 3: what does that mean? When he's on the court, he adds, what,
[1:08:11] Speaker 3: six points to the game. When he's not, it's minus six.
[1:08:16] Speaker 3: That's not a hypothetical.
[1:08:17] Speaker 2: That's a fact.
[1:08:18] Speaker 3: So when he plays, he adds four to six points
[1:08:23] Speaker 3: to the team. Because when he's playing, the other people
[1:08:27] Speaker 3: who are scoring that normally don't score, right? You know,
[1:08:33] Speaker 3: like if Marcus Smart averages seven points, during the regular season,
[1:08:36] Speaker 3: and then Luka's not there. He's averaging 12. Five points
[1:08:39] Speaker 3: is being added to his that he normally wouldn't have.
[1:08:43] Speaker 2: That's, you know, how that works, right? Let's shift over
[1:08:48] Speaker 2: to the Eastern Conference. Hey, man, go back. You probably
[1:08:51] Speaker 2: need to update. Can you update him? Update him, please.
[1:08:56] Speaker 2: That was easy. Update the app. Update.
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, update the app. Just update it.
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: No! Chat GBT. All right, well, let's shift over. Thank you.
[1:09:13] Speaker 2: Go ahead. That's a nice collection. It's a nice collection.
[1:09:15] Speaker 2: A bunch. The Cavs are top seeded.
[1:09:17] Speaker 1: Pistons made it to Detroit Tuesday night for game one
[1:09:20] Speaker 1: of their series. Central Division rivals split the season series.
[1:09:23] Speaker 1: Both teams needed seven games to advance out the first round,
[1:09:26] Speaker 1: with the Pistons overcoming a 3-1 deficit over the Magic,
[1:09:29] Speaker 1: which saw them also overcome a 24-point deficit in game
[1:09:31] Speaker 1: six to keep their season alive. The Raptors took the
[1:09:34] Speaker 1: Cavs to seven, but Jared Allen... came through with a
[1:09:36] Speaker 1: big game to keep Cleveland's season alive. So entering this matchup,
[1:09:39] Speaker 1: the Pistons had lost 12 straight to the Cavs in
[1:09:42] Speaker 1: the playoffs, tying an NBA record. But the Pistons learned
[1:09:45] Speaker 1: from the mistakes of their playoff opening loss to Orlando
[1:09:47] Speaker 1: at the crib as JB Bickerstaff led his current team
[1:09:51] Speaker 1: to a win over his former one. Let's check out
[1:09:53] Speaker 1: the highlights if we can, please. So despite the quick turnaround,
[1:09:57] Speaker 1: the Pistons squad took advantage of playing on their home floor,
[1:10:01] Speaker 1: jumping out to a 37-21 lead in the first quarter.
[1:10:05] Speaker 1: while holding the Cavs to 36% shooting in the first frame.
[1:10:10] Speaker 8: Ooh!
[1:10:11] Speaker 2: There you see it.
[1:10:12] Speaker 1: The Cavs bounce back in the second quarter. But first,
[1:10:17] Speaker 1: let's look at this.
[1:10:18] Speaker 2: Buzzer-beating.
[1:10:20] Speaker 1: It's about that green. Cavs bounce back in the second quarter,
[1:10:22] Speaker 1: cutting the deficit to 13 at the half. Cade Cunningham
[1:10:26] Speaker 1: had an off-shooting night. Still led Detroit with 23 points
[1:10:29] Speaker 1: on 6 of 19 shooting, along with 7 assists, 2 steals.
[1:10:33] Speaker 1: Tobias Harris added 20 points and... It's a six straight
[1:10:38] Speaker 1: 20-point game this postseason, while Duncan Robinson had his highest
[1:10:41] Speaker 1: scoring game this postseason.
[1:10:43] Speaker 2: 19 points going five for eight from distance.
[1:10:46] Speaker 1: Jalen Duren had another double-double, 11 points and 12 boards,
[1:10:49] Speaker 1: including some big buckets late in the game. Donovan Mitchell
[1:10:53] Speaker 1: led the Cavs with 23 points, ending his NBA record
[1:10:56] Speaker 1: streak of scoring 30-plus points in nine straight series openers.
[1:11:01] Speaker 1: We see Ron Holland right here, also hitting a three
[1:11:04] Speaker 1: at the end of the third quarter.
[1:11:04] Speaker 2: James?
[1:11:05] Speaker 1: Harden added 22, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, but 7 turnovers.
[1:11:08] Speaker 1: Evan Mobley had 14, 9 boards, and 5 assists, and
[1:11:11] Speaker 1: Max Struess added 19 points off the bench in 28 minutes.
[1:11:14] Speaker 1: After dropping 22 and 19 in the Cavs' Game 7
[1:11:17] Speaker 1: win over the Raptors, Jared Allen cooled off in this
[1:11:19] Speaker 1: one with just 2 points and 3 rebounds. Cavs trailed
[1:11:21] Speaker 1: by as much as 18 in the game, but rallied
[1:11:23] Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter, going on an 11-0 run with
[1:11:26] Speaker 1: Harden scoring 7 straight points to tie things up with
[1:11:28] Speaker 1: a little over 5 minutes remaining. Then Jalen Dern made
[1:11:30] Speaker 1: his presence felt, blocking Harden's potential go-ahead floater, then coming
[1:11:33] Speaker 1: through with 3 straight dunks To give Detroit some breathing room.
[1:11:37] Speaker 1: Pistons defense forced 20 turnovers in the game. Scoring 31
[1:11:41] Speaker 1: points off those Cavs. Missed cues. Detroit ended an NBA
[1:11:45] Speaker 1: record-tying 12-game postseason losing streak against a single opponent. With
[1:11:50] Speaker 1: their last win before Tuesday night coming in the 2007
[1:11:53] Speaker 1: Eastern Conference Finals against this Cavs squad. Detroit also got
[1:11:57] Speaker 1: their first Game 1 win since 2008. Kay Cunningham had
[1:12:00] Speaker 1: this to say about the game.
[1:12:02] Speaker 8: We have a great system in place. So, you know,
[1:12:05] Speaker 8: just play to your strength, but just give effort. Put
[1:12:08] Speaker 8: it all out there, and you got somebody behind you
[1:12:10] Speaker 8: that'll come in for you whenever you're tired.
[1:12:12] Speaker 2: So we got a great culture going. It's one win,
[1:12:14] Speaker 2: and we got to come back and do it again.
[1:12:16] Speaker 1: It is the best of seven series, but do you
[1:12:18] Speaker 1: feel like this game really can set the tone for
[1:12:20] Speaker 1: how this series will go?
[1:12:22] Speaker 8: Yeah, it's supposed to. You know, at home, you got
[1:12:25] Speaker 8: to protect the home court. We didn't do that last series,
[1:12:27] Speaker 8: so we know we're supporting this series.
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: They're a tough team.
[1:12:30] Speaker 8: They want to come in and steal one, so we're having.
[1:12:33] Speaker 2: A business tonight. We got to do it again. Looking
[1:12:37] Speaker 2: at this game, Mr. B, we'll start with you.
[1:12:38] Speaker 1: Biggest takeaways from the Pistons getting game one win over
[1:12:42] Speaker 1: the Cavs, snapping that 12-game losing streak against Cleveland?
[1:12:45] Speaker 4: Uh, Jared Allen. Uh, he didn't really, he didn't really
[1:12:49] Speaker 4: show up at all. Um, and then, you know, James Harden,
[1:12:53] Speaker 4: he had more, he had more turnovers than more, uh,
[1:12:56] Speaker 4: made field goals. Um, shout out to Tobias Harris, man.
[1:13:01] Speaker 4: I think we were on the couch talking about Tobias
[1:13:03] Speaker 4: and we were saying, I was saying, man, can Tobias
[1:13:05] Speaker 4: get a 30 point game? Um, and then he, and you,
[1:13:08] Speaker 4: you guys were saying 20, between 20, 23 and 25
[1:13:10] Speaker 4: and he go out there game seven, have a 30
[1:13:12] Speaker 4: point game. And, Since then, he's been hooping. 20 and
[1:13:15] Speaker 4: 8 boards in game one. Yeah, I think he's seeing
[1:13:17] Speaker 4: the ball go through the rim. It's really helping him.
[1:13:19] Speaker 4: And it's really going to, you know, they're going to
[1:13:21] Speaker 4: really need a scoring this playoff series. Then with the Cavs,
[1:13:25] Speaker 4: you know, Donovan Mitchell, man, we need him to have
[1:13:27] Speaker 4: one of those games right now because they're struggling from
[1:13:31] Speaker 4: the guard position between him and James. It's just not
[1:13:33] Speaker 4: really like that. So I need him to try to
[1:13:37] Speaker 4: step it up some more and have one of those
[1:13:39] Speaker 4: games and really take over the series if they're going
[1:13:41] Speaker 4: to have a chance to win. because, you know, Cade
[1:13:45] Speaker 4: is going crazy. He's going to do what he do.
[1:13:47] Speaker 4: But shout out to Detroit, man. You know, guys are
[1:13:50] Speaker 4: stepping up. What was it, Duncan Robinson? Duncan Robinson. Had
[1:13:54] Speaker 4: a good game. So, yeah, man, we'll see. But I
[1:13:56] Speaker 4: don't think this series is over. It's far from over.
[1:14:00] Speaker 1: Well, Jeff, can I shift over to you? Looking at
[1:14:02] Speaker 1: these Pistons take game one, which they were unable to
[1:14:04] Speaker 1: do in the first round against Orlando Magic. After that series,
[1:14:08] Speaker 1: Cade said the Magic forced them to look in the
[1:14:09] Speaker 1: mirror and get right. Heading into this one, what do
[1:14:12] Speaker 1: you think about the Pistons taking this win?
[1:14:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, you've been riding high. All season, you've been in
[1:14:19] Speaker 2: first place. Come out and the Magic punch you in
[1:14:22] Speaker 2: your mouth in game one and make it a lot
[1:14:24] Speaker 2: tougher series than you probably anticipated. So, yeah, you have
[1:14:27] Speaker 2: to look in the mirror. I'm glad Cade referenced it
[1:14:30] Speaker 2: that way. That's what it takes. Self, if you're not
[1:14:40] Speaker 2: your biggest critic, and fixing your own mistakes, then there's
[1:14:43] Speaker 2: nothing no one else can say to you. So I'm
[1:14:46] Speaker 2: glad they did it as a team. Came out and
[1:14:48] Speaker 2: played well in game one. Like I said, Duncan Robinson
[1:14:51] Speaker 2: got off, which he hadn't had a particularly great series
[1:14:54] Speaker 2: in round one. They needed his shooting to open the
[1:14:58] Speaker 2: floor up for Cade. Yeah, we owe Tobias a big salute, brother.
[1:15:05] Speaker 2: We knew you were a solid player, but you really
[1:15:08] Speaker 2: stepped up to the challenge as of late being a
[1:15:10] Speaker 2: solid solid companion for Cade that he can depend on
[1:15:15] Speaker 2: night in, night out. You know, I mean, they're going
[1:15:18] Speaker 2: to defend at a high clip, the Pistons, that is.
[1:15:22] Speaker 2: And it's James and Donovan Mitchell both are elite basketball players.
[1:15:32] Speaker 2: I think the way the NBA has transitioned that position
[1:15:38] Speaker 2: into being a 6'6, 6'7, like, 6'5 and up point
[1:15:43] Speaker 2: guard and athletic and can do both defend and score,
[1:15:47] Speaker 2: I think kind of bothers both of them, right? Because
[1:15:52] Speaker 2: you got length and athleticism at that position now where
[1:15:57] Speaker 2: you were playing bigger on them so they had an
[1:16:00] Speaker 2: advantage before. You were playing a small forward on them
[1:16:02] Speaker 2: that wasn't really, like, so you were trying to play
[1:16:05] Speaker 2: bigger on them to keep them in the pockets. I
[1:16:07] Speaker 2: think the guards now can move their feet with him,
[1:16:10] Speaker 2: and there's more athleticism on the floor now at that position.
[1:16:12] Speaker 2: Like Cade. Like Cade is a problem for them. Thompson
[1:16:16] Speaker 2: is a problem for them at the guard. Those dudes
[1:16:19] Speaker 2: are really an issue defensively and offensively trying to guard.
[1:16:23] Speaker 2: Cade is an issue for Donovan and James. So now
[1:16:25] Speaker 2: you've got guys that's trying to guard. Now guys out
[1:16:27] Speaker 2: of position. Now James has got to try to box
[1:16:30] Speaker 2: out a small four because you've got to put a
[1:16:33] Speaker 2: different player on Cade at that position to defend him.
[1:16:37] Speaker 2: So I think the game has transitioned a little bit
[1:16:41] Speaker 2: away from the 6'3, 6'4, shooting guard kind of. I
[1:16:45] Speaker 2: think you need to be bigger at that position now,
[1:16:48] Speaker 2: which I think is what Cleveland problem they're running into.
[1:16:51] Speaker 2: The reason they struggled with Toronto, right? Toronto's long and athletic.
[1:16:55] Speaker 2: They're not as good as Cade, but they're strong and
[1:16:58] Speaker 2: athletic at that position. We just didn't think Toronto could
[1:17:01] Speaker 2: win on the road. I didn't. So I think in
[1:17:04] Speaker 2: this series, that's the determining factor as well. I don't
[1:17:06] Speaker 2: think Cleveland can win on the road. So however many
[1:17:09] Speaker 2: of these goals, I don't think Cleveland can win on
[1:17:12] Speaker 2: the road, and I think Detroit can win in their building.
[1:17:15] Speaker 2: So it's only one game, but I think Detroit learned
[1:17:20] Speaker 2: from what they didn't do against the Magic and correcting
[1:17:23] Speaker 2: those mishaps, and I think it's going to be a
[1:17:26] Speaker 2: much more focused Detroit Pistons team against Cleveland Cavaliers.
[1:17:30] Speaker 1: A shotless shift over to you looking at this Pistons squad.
[1:17:33] Speaker 2: Bouncing back.
[1:17:34] Speaker 3: 3-1.
[1:17:37] Speaker 2: When I won four straight games? Cleveland Cavaliers.
[1:17:44] Speaker 5: I said when James went over there, it was going
[1:17:46] Speaker 5: to be to the detriment of Donovan Mitchell. Donovan Mitchell
[1:17:51] Speaker 5: wants to do the same thing that James Harden does,
[1:17:54] Speaker 5: which is facilitate to his teammates while operating in his
[1:17:58] Speaker 5: operating areas. When James Harden is not on the floor,
[1:18:01] Speaker 5: Donovan Mitchell thrives. And you can tell the energy shifts
[1:18:04] Speaker 5: because he goes straight to his bag. He gets straight
[1:18:06] Speaker 5: to the bucket. He takes shots with confidence, and he
[1:18:09] Speaker 5: actually reacts differently. James Harden's on the floor. They really
[1:18:14] Speaker 5: defer to each other, but more so Donovan to James.
[1:18:18] Speaker 5: James is a ball stopper. And in this day and age,
[1:18:22] Speaker 5: in this league right now, as you see what Cade
[1:18:24] Speaker 5: was doing, you can't play with your food no more.
[1:18:26] Speaker 5: All that James Harden with the Houston Rockets, sit there
[1:18:29] Speaker 5: and do-do-do-do-do, do the step back, that's not working. K's
[1:18:32] Speaker 5: not falling for none of that shit. Jenkins not falling
[1:18:34] Speaker 5: for that. Amon Thompson's not falling for that. It's a
[1:18:37] Speaker 5: different game. When I seen Donovan Mitchell go downhill, use
[1:18:40] Speaker 5: all of his leverage and speed to get by defenders
[1:18:45] Speaker 5: and go to the flow game, it was it was impeccable.
[1:18:49] Speaker 5: But both of those two guys on the floor at
[1:18:50] Speaker 5: the same time throughout the series in Toronto was not effective.
[1:18:54] Speaker 5: They were both elite players, but they were both playing
[1:18:56] Speaker 5: solid and solid got them to seven games without any
[1:19:01] Speaker 5: remarkable performances by any one of them. I think that
[1:19:05] Speaker 5: Evan Mobley actually took them over the top for that
[1:19:07] Speaker 5: series and And right now he can't afford to have
[1:19:09] Speaker 5: 14 points. He's got to play better. And like Brandon said,
[1:19:13] Speaker 5: Jared Allen, you got to show up. There's no reason
[1:19:16] Speaker 5: you go from having a big game closeout game to
[1:19:19] Speaker 5: having two and three in the opening game. That's going
[1:19:23] Speaker 5: to be the detriment for them. Strews played well. He
[1:19:26] Speaker 5: stepped up. I think he won his matchup, which was Jenkins.
[1:19:31] Speaker 5: But also Detroit, you know, they're resilient. You know, they
[1:19:36] Speaker 5: got tested. They was able to come back in at
[1:19:38] Speaker 5: their home court and really show the crowd that they
[1:19:42] Speaker 5: mean business. They kept the lead, even though Durden still
[1:19:47] Speaker 5: ain't showed up yet. I think that that's the bright
[1:19:49] Speaker 5: spot for them because he can still have.
[1:19:50] Speaker 2: Some big games.
[1:19:52] Speaker 5: Eamon Thompson can still have some big games. And shout
[1:19:54] Speaker 5: out to Tobias. You know, he's definitely feeling himself right now.
[1:19:57] Speaker 5: The confidence is driving. And if they needed a number
[1:20:00] Speaker 5: two outside of Durden not showing up, Tobias Harris is
[1:20:05] Speaker 5: definitely stepping to that role with experience and veteran leadership
[1:20:09] Speaker 5: and qualities of wanting to win.
[1:20:12] Speaker 2: And especially on the defensive end, he played defense. I
[1:20:14] Speaker 2: like that. So, um, Cleveland needs to get it together.
[1:20:17] Speaker 2: They need to figure out.
[1:20:19] Speaker 5: How they're going to get their offense, you know, moving on,
[1:20:23] Speaker 5: on the right pace.
[1:20:25] Speaker 2: And I think defensively.
[1:20:26] Speaker 5: It's going to be, uh, just cage is going to,
[1:20:30] Speaker 5: he's always going to keep it up. So, um, Even
[1:20:33] Speaker 5: stopping him, we've got to figure out how to get
[1:20:37] Speaker 5: those other players in line because I think they actually
[1:20:40] Speaker 5: are waiting to explode too. So it's going to be
[1:20:42] Speaker 5: a long series for Cleveland if they don't get it together.
[1:20:46] Speaker 1: You mentioned Dern, 4 of 11 from the field, but
[1:20:49] Speaker 1: had those six big points. Fourth quarter helped spark that
[1:20:53] Speaker 1: rally for the Pistons to take control of the game,
[1:20:55] Speaker 1: but get.
[1:20:55] Speaker 2: A little shift over. So he made four field goals
[1:20:59] Speaker 2: and them three dunks was obvious.
[1:21:04] Speaker 1: Three big dunks, though, came back to my place to
[1:21:07] Speaker 1: help extend that lead. We give a shift.
[1:21:11] Speaker 2: Over to you. Ross on the Pistons taking game one
[1:21:14] Speaker 2: over the Cavs. I mean, you know, they're number one seed.
[1:21:17] Speaker 2: They're at home.
[1:21:23] Speaker 3: Usually the first game is more of a defensive game.
[1:21:27] Speaker 3: And James' turnovers are tough. coming from trying to do
[1:21:35] Speaker 3: too much on a team that wants you to play
[1:21:39] Speaker 3: with the ball, wants you to try to pass the
[1:21:40] Speaker 3: ball around and just throw it around casually. So they
[1:21:45] Speaker 3: thrive on defense to offense. The game was ugly offensively, right?
[1:21:51] Speaker 3: You know, Detroit is a grinded out team, right? They
[1:21:56] Speaker 3: don't have enough output offensively from individuals.
[1:22:01] Speaker 2: They need Cade to do it all.
[1:22:03] Speaker 3: Um, right there, they're handicapped with two players who just
[1:22:06] Speaker 3: can't shoot from the outside. And then if you, if
[1:22:09] Speaker 3: Duncan Robinson is not playing well or not hitting shots,
[1:22:12] Speaker 3: that floor gets smaller. Um, Tobias has to, he don't like,
[1:22:21] Speaker 3: they don't, Tobias don't have no room for an off
[1:22:25] Speaker 3: game because that off game or off moments, they're going
[1:22:29] Speaker 3: to keep focusing on Kate.
[1:22:31] Speaker 2: Right.
[1:22:32] Speaker 3: Um, when it comes to Cleveland, you lose in the
[1:22:37] Speaker 3: free throw department. They took 35 free throws because they're
[1:22:44] Speaker 3: trying to get to the rim. That's where they want
[1:22:46] Speaker 3: to come. The fact that Allen gets in foul trouble
[1:22:53] Speaker 3: and then offensively you're not putting no pressure on the
[1:22:56] Speaker 3: rim for Durin to get out of the game and
[1:22:58] Speaker 3: he gets to just be back there having fun, and
[1:23:01] Speaker 3: the only person that's getting hit is your guard.
[1:23:04] Speaker 2: With James, you know, taking nine free.
[1:23:06] Speaker 3: Throws, he knows how to get free throws. But Allen,
[1:23:08] Speaker 3: you guys, Allen and Mobley.
[1:23:12] Speaker 2: That's your job.
[1:23:13] Speaker 3: You guys got to put pressure on that rim because
[1:23:18] Speaker 3: they have a guy back there. He is the focal
[1:23:21] Speaker 3: point on the defense.
[1:23:23] Speaker 2: Right? So the free throws, you got, what, 35-2. Where
[1:23:28] Speaker 2: did Cleveland take? 15th?
[1:23:30] Speaker 3: You lose by 11, right? They had 16 attempts in
[1:23:33] Speaker 3: the game. There's the game right there. Other than that, offensively,
[1:23:39] Speaker 3: you both look the same. Defensively, Cleveland, you get a
[1:23:42] Speaker 3: handicap because they got two players who don't shoot. So
[1:23:44] Speaker 3: you get to really lock down on defense because there's
[1:23:46] Speaker 3: nobody going to put pressure on whoever's guarding ace arm, right?
[1:23:51] Speaker 3: I don't really have to guard him. The only way
[1:23:53] Speaker 3: he's going to hurt me is if he decides he's
[1:23:55] Speaker 3: going to dive, go for lobs, and do that stuff.
[1:23:58] Speaker 2: Then he becomes a threat.
[1:23:59] Speaker 3: But if he's going to sit around moseying and setting
[1:24:01] Speaker 3: back screens, me, I get to just focus on Cade.
[1:24:05] Speaker 3: So if Cleveland figures out how to clean up bad
[1:24:12] Speaker 3: turnovers and then make sure you're putting pressure on the rim,
[1:24:18] Speaker 3: because once Durant's out of the game, that lane opens
[1:24:23] Speaker 3: up just a little bit more.
[1:24:24] Speaker 2: No, it don't. The other guy averaged more blocks. Who? Stewart. Yeah,
[1:24:27] Speaker 2: I'm not worried about... He averaged more blocks than Derrick. No, no, no.
[1:24:29] Speaker 2: I'm not worried about the blocks. Oh, I'm just saying.
[1:24:32] Speaker 3: That height, that height and that long, them arms, very different.
[1:24:35] Speaker 2: Oh. And it takes away some of this offense. It does.
[1:24:37] Speaker 3: I mean, it takes away some of that offense, too.
[1:24:39] Speaker 2: So, the all-star off the court is better. Oh, gosh. Right?
[1:24:43] Speaker 3: It just becomes a very different game. And it's who
[1:24:48] Speaker 3: can put their will on the game.
[1:24:49] Speaker 2: Can Cleveland.
[1:24:51] Speaker 3: put their offensive will on this game.
[1:24:54] Speaker 2: Or can Cade, right?
[1:24:57] Speaker 3: Like I like Cleveland for the series, but I like
[1:25:01] Speaker 3: Cade in a series, right? I just think just from
[1:25:05] Speaker 3: round one and his willpower all season, you can't bet
[1:25:10] Speaker 3: against him because he, he's one of those guys and
[1:25:13] Speaker 3: has one of those, those minds that don't really get rattled.
[1:25:17] Speaker 3: So no matter if he's six for 19 or, Six
[1:25:21] Speaker 3: for 19 last night.
[1:25:23] Speaker 2: They had a good game. Because you can't tell because
[1:25:26] Speaker 2: he's stoic. Right?
[1:25:30] Speaker 3: And just watching his ability and watch him just carry
[1:25:33] Speaker 3: a team like this is just mind-blowing.
[1:25:36] Speaker 2: And then if he don't panic, everybody else is like,
[1:25:39] Speaker 2: And that is the most important part. We good, dude.
[1:25:43] Speaker 2: Boss is good. Yeah, we good.
[1:25:46] Speaker 3: I seen Stewart get so mad and all he did
[1:25:49] Speaker 3: was like, yo, come on, I need you.
[1:25:51] Speaker 2: He was like, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's all it take.
[1:25:53] Speaker 3: That's all it take.
[1:25:54] Speaker 2: They really believe in him.
[1:25:55] Speaker 3: So I can't... Like, this is one of those series
[1:26:02] Speaker 3: I just want to watch it. I don't got no
[1:26:04] Speaker 3: prediction of who can win. Yeah, that's just like add J.K.
[1:26:07] Speaker 2: To the fray, right? He do so much. Yeah. And
[1:26:11] Speaker 2: you're going to want to hoop. You're going to want
[1:26:13] Speaker 2: to go out there and be like, we wasn't the
[1:26:14] Speaker 2: best team out there, but we fucking competed, right? We
[1:26:18] Speaker 2: played hard every night and we defended, right? We knew
[1:26:21] Speaker 2: he was a possibility. He can go for a triple-double
[1:26:23] Speaker 2: at any given time, but we had to carry our
[1:26:25] Speaker 2: own brick, right? And I think that's what Detroit Pistons are, right?
[1:26:29] Speaker 2: and the message that's being displayed. We know what Cade is.
[1:26:33] Speaker 2: You come and do your job. You carry your brick
[1:26:35] Speaker 2: and we got a shot, right? And I think that's
[1:26:39] Speaker 2: been their mentality all season. And I think that's what
[1:26:42] Speaker 2: got them out of the first round. They really realized
[1:26:44] Speaker 2: who they are, right? You got to look in the
[1:26:46] Speaker 2: mirror and realize who you are as a basketball player
[1:26:48] Speaker 2: and what can you bring to this team in order
[1:26:50] Speaker 2: to help us win. And with the Jaron Allen thing,
[1:26:53] Speaker 2: I watched how he was against Toronto active, flying around.
[1:26:58] Speaker 2: They wasn't really putting a body on him. You got
[1:27:02] Speaker 2: two dudes that's going to put a body on you.
[1:27:05] Speaker 2: You still be active, get your hands and tip out
[1:27:07] Speaker 2: and things like that, but you got it's going to
[1:27:11] Speaker 2: come with a bruise or two, but you got to
[1:27:15] Speaker 2: look past that because your team needs you in this moment.
[1:27:18] Speaker 2: He's a very live body, man. It's going to hurt.
[1:27:25] Speaker 2: Because them Dern and Stewart, they physical, right? Yeah. They
[1:27:29] Speaker 2: bringing it. So, and I think, and... The fact that
[1:27:32] Speaker 2: they didn't go free throw. Yeah, but every mobile finesse guy,
[1:27:35] Speaker 2: he going to face up, bro. He going to... Listen,
[1:27:37] Speaker 2: he's a good basketball player. I ain't taking it out,
[1:27:39] Speaker 2: but the way them dudes playing, the way they bringing it,
[1:27:43] Speaker 2: you're going to rather face up. But that's the problem, though. Yeah.
[1:27:49] Speaker 3: Because, and the reason is, if you have a Donovan Mitchell,
[1:27:53] Speaker 3: if you have.
[1:27:55] Speaker 2: a James Harden, and you.
[1:27:58] Speaker 3: Are scoring big, you have to relieve foul pressure. Meaning,
[1:28:04] Speaker 3: you can't let this guy get hit all seven times
[1:28:07] Speaker 3: without any penalties. He needs to be able to be
[1:28:14] Speaker 3: rewarded free throws, right? So you have to take some
[1:28:17] Speaker 3: of that pressure off. You have to get one or
[1:28:19] Speaker 3: two fouls, right? So if they're trying to pressure up
[1:28:22] Speaker 3: on him and they get a little ticky, he gets
[1:28:24] Speaker 3: to walk all the.
[1:28:24] Speaker 2: Way down and score, right?
[1:28:26] Speaker 3: And those are the things that are very important to
[1:28:31] Speaker 3: your scoring guards. There has to be someone who can
[1:28:34] Speaker 3: take those hits. That's what's saving LeBron. Austin Reeves and
[1:28:37] Speaker 3: Luka gets hit way more.
[1:28:39] Speaker 2: LeBron gets hit way more.
[1:28:40] Speaker 3: To reap the free throws from it. All right, y'all
[1:28:43] Speaker 3: getting hit.
[1:28:43] Speaker 2: Boom, boom, boom.
[1:28:44] Speaker 3: I win the penalty. Maniac time and you get to reward.
[1:28:48] Speaker 3: Like some of these guys, some of these guys are
[1:28:50] Speaker 3: getting hit with no reward, right?
[1:28:53] Speaker 2: So Cade out there, right?
[1:28:55] Speaker 3: Sometimes he gets hit all six hits before he gets
[1:28:59] Speaker 3: two points. If you're going to hit me six times,
[1:29:01] Speaker 3: I want 12 free throws. So I'm going to let
[1:29:03] Speaker 3: Antoine and Karan do their thing. Four's out. Hell yeah.
[1:29:07] Speaker 3: Soon as we in that penalty, one full flat.
[1:29:13] Speaker 2: But those are game plans.
[1:29:15] Speaker 3: It's who can will their will more and it looks
[1:29:19] Speaker 3: like Cade is willing.
[1:29:21] Speaker 2: I think you can, nothing against what I'm about to
[1:29:24] Speaker 2: say because I think Chris Bosh was a hell of
[1:29:27] Speaker 2: a basketball player, right? I see a lot of Evan
[1:29:30] Speaker 2: Mobley and Chris Bosh. Vice versa.
[1:29:36] Speaker 3: There's a little bit.
[1:29:38] Speaker 2: We can see a lot of Chris Bosh and Evan Mobley. Game.
[1:29:42] Speaker 2: In that regard, right? I guarded the guy, right?
[1:29:45] Speaker 3: I could finesse more finesse.
[1:29:47] Speaker 2: If you get physical with him, he can still get
[1:29:49] Speaker 2: it done, but he going to go to what he, like,
[1:29:52] Speaker 2: it's the face-up thing, right? That's just, he can still
[1:29:55] Speaker 2: get it done in that way. I see that. a
[1:29:59] Speaker 2: little bit, right? Better defensively, of course, around the rim,
[1:30:02] Speaker 2: but I just see it's, he will defer a little
[1:30:05] Speaker 2: bit if you start being physical with him. And I
[1:30:08] Speaker 2: think that's what Detroit understands, right? If we be physical
[1:30:11] Speaker 2: with this guy, he'll start moving further away from the
[1:30:14] Speaker 2: basket and we can force him into how we want
[1:30:15] Speaker 2: him to play. That's the way, like, that's, but, hell
[1:30:19] Speaker 2: of a basketball player in his own right, but I
[1:30:22] Speaker 2: just think that's where it is right now. But, we'll see.
[1:30:28] Speaker 1: All right, well, Let's keep this thing moving. We have
[1:30:31] Speaker 1: some breaking news coming out of the Big Apple. So,
[1:30:35] Speaker 1: Joel Embiid came up big for the Sixers in their
[1:30:37] Speaker 1: series-clinching Game 7 win over the Celtics this past Saturday.
[1:30:40] Speaker 1: 34 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists in 39 minutes.
[1:30:43] Speaker 3: Man, just get to the news. Is he playing or not?
[1:30:45] Speaker 2: Goddamn, Gil.
[1:30:46] Speaker 3: You know I live for these moments.
[1:30:48] Speaker 2: I know. My bad. Go on and read. Never let
[1:30:50] Speaker 2: a nigga hug.
[1:30:53] Speaker 1: He had a quick turnaround, though, getting smacked in game
[1:30:57] Speaker 1: one against the Knicks on Monday. It was Embiid's fifth
[1:30:59] Speaker 1: game in nine days, held to 14 points on 3
[1:31:01] Speaker 1: of 11 shooting in 25 minutes as the Sixers got
[1:31:04] Speaker 1: blown out by 39.
[1:31:06] Speaker 2: Big sips, big sips from them Cubs.
[1:31:08] Speaker 1: Earlier today, the Sixers announced that Embiid has been ruled
[1:31:12] Speaker 1: out for game two with ankle and hip injuries. Also
[1:31:18] Speaker 1: came back from an emergency appendectomy.
[1:31:23] Speaker 2: I want to hear what the chat got to say. Chat,
[1:31:25] Speaker 2: Gil would like to know what you have to say.
[1:31:27] Speaker 2: We were supposed to be stupid yesterday. We didn't know
[1:31:30] Speaker 2: what we were talking about. I want to hear what
[1:31:31] Speaker 2: the chat got to say. Maybe I didn't know. Maybe
[1:31:34] Speaker 2: I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about.
[1:31:37] Speaker 2: Maybe I just was talking out my ass yesterday. They
[1:31:40] Speaker 2: said you was. Maybe you sit in my game one,
[1:31:42] Speaker 2: you had a better chance in game two. Maybe I
[1:31:46] Speaker 2: don't know much. Maybe I ain't the person that dealt
[1:31:48] Speaker 2: with injuries and played in certain situations and been in
[1:31:51] Speaker 2: these motherfuckers and I know the human body, and I
[1:31:55] Speaker 2: know what my eyes saw.
[1:31:57] Speaker 3: Right?
[1:31:57] Speaker 2: And I, yeah. But, hey, yeah, I was, yeah. Said yesterday,
[1:32:02] Speaker 2: the man should, they should have taken the fucking reins
[1:32:05] Speaker 2: and like, hey, games two through whatever, we're going to
[1:32:12] Speaker 2: sit you out today, big fella, get ready for game two.
[1:32:16] Speaker 2: And the fact that they can get away with listing
[1:32:18] Speaker 2: injuries that ain't a fucking injury is fucking amazing to me.
[1:32:21] Speaker 2: They ain't talking about nothing about the surgery, the appendectomy,
[1:32:23] Speaker 2: all that fucking knee we saw that he keep going
[1:32:25] Speaker 2: holding every time something happened. So you said a hip
[1:32:29] Speaker 2: and ankle. This is according to Sharania. Ankle and hip.
[1:32:33] Speaker 2: That fact that he had an appendectomy surgery three weeks ago.
[1:32:36] Speaker 3: It's like we're the only ones that know he's not
[1:32:38] Speaker 3: going to finish his series.
[1:32:39] Speaker 2: Yes. Like, I don't know what fucking game y'all watching.
[1:32:46] Speaker 3: If he's limping in the Boston game and he has
[1:32:50] Speaker 3: no one to guard, and now he's guarding a 20-12
[1:32:54] Speaker 3: guy who's running around, pump faking, shooting aggressive, and he
[1:32:59] Speaker 3: don't like you, and he know you hurt, what you
[1:33:02] Speaker 3: think he gonna do? The first couple plays show, okay,
[1:33:05] Speaker 3: what type of series this is. We're gonna pick and
[1:33:07] Speaker 3: roll the shit out of him. He was going to
[1:33:10] Speaker 3: miss game two or three. One of the games he
[1:33:12] Speaker 3: wasn't playing for sure. That knee can't take it no more. Like,
[1:33:17] Speaker 3: I don't know how many times we got to say
[1:33:19] Speaker 3: we can watch.
[1:33:20] Speaker 2: I had knee surgery.
[1:33:24] Speaker 3: Offensively feels great. You know why? Because I get to
[1:33:30] Speaker 3: control it. I can control my movement on the offensive end. Defense,
[1:33:36] Speaker 3: I can't. I'm reacting to someone else. So what ends
[1:33:40] Speaker 3: up happening is if he.
[1:33:42] Speaker 2: Pushes, I'm not going to go.
[1:33:44] Speaker 3: I'm going to let him go. I'm going to try
[1:33:46] Speaker 3: to step here and he goes the other way. I
[1:33:48] Speaker 3: don't want to step. I can't.
[1:33:50] Speaker 2: And I won't.
[1:33:52] Speaker 3: On offense, back to the basket. I can sit here
[1:33:56] Speaker 3: and do my thing. I'm watching it. I know what
[1:33:59] Speaker 3: it looks like. So I know he can't go up
[1:34:01] Speaker 3: and down playing that many minutes guarding Carl Anthony.
[1:34:07] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[1:34:07] Speaker 3: Now game two. You lost by 30 now.
[1:34:09] Speaker 2: Now game two. Right?
[1:34:10] Speaker 3: Just say the series is over with. You're going to
[1:34:13] Speaker 3: try with game three, come back, and then the game
[1:34:16] Speaker 3: four is out.
[1:34:18] Speaker 2: Or game three is out too. Get some more rest.
[1:34:19] Speaker 3: It's game two and three.
[1:34:21] Speaker 2: It's game two and three. Try to come back for
[1:34:23] Speaker 2: game four. Whatever it is.
[1:34:24] Speaker 1: It obviously depends on how this game goes tonight. But
[1:34:26] Speaker 1: to your point, if you're just going to get your
[1:34:27] Speaker 1: ass whipped anyway in game one, But you.
[1:34:30] Speaker 2: Don't know how the game was going to go. No way, though. Listen,
[1:34:32] Speaker 2: I'm not saying this. I didn't have a crystal ball
[1:34:34] Speaker 2: to know they was going to lose by 39 points.
[1:34:36] Speaker 2: I knew. But I knew the turnaround time didn't line
[1:34:42] Speaker 2: up for him and his health. I don't give a... Listen.
[1:34:45] Speaker 2: You knew it was going to be his fifth game.
[1:34:47] Speaker 2: I knew it was going to be his fifth game.
[1:34:48] Speaker 2: Regular season, right? That's what we've been saying. So this
[1:34:52] Speaker 2: is my... I'm looking at the way he looked against Boston, right?
[1:34:56] Speaker 2: I'm watching him. And I'm watching him in game seven,
[1:34:59] Speaker 2: like Like, man, he's struggling, bro. Like, they get this game, nigga,
[1:35:03] Speaker 2: good luck in the next one. And I'm like, man,
[1:35:05] Speaker 2: if they do, then they won. I'm thinking, yeah, they
[1:35:08] Speaker 2: should sit Big Phil out.
[1:35:11] Speaker 3: Right?
[1:35:11] Speaker 2: I'm talking to my partner. I'm talking to him. Like, hey,
[1:35:13] Speaker 2: they should sit Big Phil out, bro. You know, get
[1:35:15] Speaker 2: ready for game two.
[1:35:16] Speaker 4: That was a tough series.
[1:35:17] Speaker 3: And then to come into New York playing what they,
[1:35:20] Speaker 3: and they doing this.
[1:35:21] Speaker 2: You come, you get off the couch. You missed the
[1:35:23] Speaker 2: first three games of the series. You get off the
[1:35:27] Speaker 2: couch from having your stomach and intestine, your shit moved around.
[1:35:32] Speaker 2: Like you had real life surgery. And then, like, you
[1:35:37] Speaker 2: had a root canal in those shit. Very painful, too.
[1:35:42] Speaker 2: But still, though, like, this man on the sideline, on
[1:35:45] Speaker 2: the bench, on the ground trying to stretch. You got... Bruh,
[1:35:50] Speaker 2: it was a lot to deal with. Along with this
[1:35:53] Speaker 2: knee that we know about.
[1:35:55] Speaker 4: Now ankle.
[1:35:57] Speaker 2: It ain't an ankle or a fucking hip. It's kneeing
[1:35:59] Speaker 2: out of shape. It's kneeing out... They can't tell fucking
[1:36:03] Speaker 2: New York that this... Like, we know it, but they
[1:36:07] Speaker 2: just can't go like, you know, his knee fucked up.
[1:36:09] Speaker 2: That's what this is. They think the New York team
[1:36:11] Speaker 2: players are stupid. Yeah, they do. We see that big-ass
[1:36:14] Speaker 2: brace under them tights. He actually twisted his ankle on
[1:36:18] Speaker 2: Josh Hart's ankle. He fell on it in the game.
[1:36:21] Speaker 2: I ain't buying it. I ain't buying it. He wasn't
[1:36:23] Speaker 2: healthy before the game started, so I ain't buying it.
[1:36:28] Speaker 2: The knee worse than the fucking ankle, the hip is
[1:36:30] Speaker 2: a myth, and the motherfucking goddamn appendectomy is a fucking
[1:36:32] Speaker 2: real thing. Wait, didn't he have to shave part of
[1:36:35] Speaker 2: his hip?
[1:36:36] Speaker 3: What was that? He did have a surgery on something, right?
[1:36:38] Speaker 3: He had to shave something. Was that part of his hip?
[1:36:41] Speaker 2: His hip down, shaved the bone off his hip because
[1:36:43] Speaker 2: his legs was, I don't know, but we know he
[1:36:47] Speaker 2: wasn't healthy against Boston. He came back for this. He
[1:36:50] Speaker 2: should have said his ass out game one. He had
[1:36:53] Speaker 2: 34-12 in closeout game. He wasn't healthy. I don't care.
[1:36:57] Speaker 2: Closeout game? Yeah, 34 and 12. Because he ain't playing
[1:37:01] Speaker 2: against nobody. He ain't got to guard nobody. And like
[1:37:04] Speaker 2: Gil said, he can do it offensively. Yes. Fine. He's
[1:37:10] Speaker 2: the tallest one out there. Stand up under that motherfucker.
[1:37:12] Speaker 2: The rebound's coming to me. I ain't got to jump.
[1:37:15] Speaker 5: Well, if you're playing hurt, at what point do you
[1:37:17] Speaker 5: need rest?
[1:37:20] Speaker 2: Should have took a game one. You need rest, right?
[1:37:22] Speaker 2: Should have took a game one. So at some point
[1:37:24] Speaker 2: throughout the season, he's going to need to sit.
[1:37:27] Speaker 4: Regardless.
[1:37:28] Speaker 2: Throughout the season? Throughout the series. How about game one
[1:37:31] Speaker 2: when you got a game between the games? If you
[1:37:34] Speaker 2: sit out game one? Got a better chance for game two.
[1:37:38] Speaker 2: Lose game one? Play game two? You play.
[1:37:44] Speaker 5: Say you lose game two. You gonna sit game three?
[1:37:48] Speaker 5: Or you gonna play? Depending on how hard he plays
[1:37:50] Speaker 5: and what goes on, it's gonna be up to him. Regardless,
[1:37:56] Speaker 5: he's playing injured So when you're playing injured at some point,
[1:38:00] Speaker 5: you're going.
[1:38:00] Speaker 2: To need rest.
[1:38:01] Speaker 5: I never thought he was going to play the whole
[1:38:02] Speaker 5: series just simply because he's playing injured. You're going to
[1:38:06] Speaker 5: need some rest at some point. You're not going to
[1:38:08] Speaker 5: play the whole seven. So for him, when he's on
[1:38:12] Speaker 5: the floor, they're a different team. And that's what Boston said.
[1:38:16] Speaker 5: When he's on the floor, he's a different team. So
[1:38:18] Speaker 5: they was trying to give him a different look, giving
[1:38:19] Speaker 5: New York a different look when he's on the floor
[1:38:21] Speaker 5: first game.
[1:38:23] Speaker 2: And it was a bad decision, obviously.
[1:38:26] Speaker 5: So game two is going to be a different look
[1:38:28] Speaker 5: for them they're going to try to figure out what
[1:38:29] Speaker 5: it is is going to be different about this game
[1:38:32] Speaker 5: if they actually make it a game and whether or
[1:38:34] Speaker 5: not they should continue with him if they play better
[1:38:36] Speaker 5: without him it would be something that I would say
[1:38:39] Speaker 5: Nick Nurse need to think about but if he comes
[1:38:42] Speaker 5: back game three game four and he can give you
[1:38:44] Speaker 5: 34 and 12 I'm taking it I'm taking it it's
[1:38:48] Speaker 5: Joel Embiid.
[1:38:53] Speaker 2: That's just me, though. It's just me.
[1:38:58] Speaker 1: We will see how the Sixers fare for the rest
[1:39:01] Speaker 1: of the season. But speaking of bad decisions, let's talk
[1:39:03] Speaker 1: a little bit about the Celtics. Oh, I was about
[1:39:05] Speaker 1: to say, and beat again. We will talk some more
[1:39:08] Speaker 1: and beat momentarily.
[1:39:09] Speaker 2: We don't need to. The other side.
[1:39:12] Speaker 1: Celtics have won six straight playoff series over the Sixers
[1:39:15] Speaker 1: with Philly getting their last series win back in 1982.
[1:39:17] Speaker 1: Till this weekend, obviously, when the Sixers won three straight
[1:39:20] Speaker 1: games stunned the second seed, the Celtics, on their home floor.
[1:39:23] Speaker 1: Austin was 32-0 prior to this series when holding a
[1:39:26] Speaker 1: 3-1 lead. Jason Tatum made a heroic comeback this season
[1:39:30] Speaker 1: just 10 months after suffering an Achilles injury in the
[1:39:32] Speaker 1: 2025 playoffs. Tatum played in 16 regular season games, averaging
[1:39:37] Speaker 1: 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists, and the first
[1:39:39] Speaker 1: six of the Celtics' playoff games, averaging 23-11 rebounds and
[1:39:43] Speaker 1: 7 assists in 36 minutes per game. Tatum suffered left
[1:39:48] Speaker 1: leg stiffness in Game 6, Tried to downplay the injury,
[1:39:51] Speaker 1: but hours prior to Game 7, he was added to
[1:39:53] Speaker 1: the injury report with left knee stiffness before being ruled
[1:39:57] Speaker 1: out in Game 7 with a knee injury. So we
[1:40:01] Speaker 1: talked about this a little bit lightly on the show yesterday.
[1:40:04] Speaker 1: Did we start with you?
[1:40:08] Speaker 2: Whoa.
[1:40:10] Speaker 1: Was Tatum coming back and playing this season the right decision?
[1:40:24] Speaker 3: Was it the right decision to come back and get
[1:40:27] Speaker 3: hurt and possibly jeopardize the rest of the summer to
[1:40:31] Speaker 3: rehab or heal or get something fixed to then jeopardize
[1:40:35] Speaker 3: the beginning of next year?
[1:40:37] Speaker 2: Same reason when he was.
[1:40:39] Speaker 3: Thinking about coming back, I said, ask yourselves as an organization,
[1:40:45] Speaker 3: do you have a chance to win a championship? If
[1:40:48] Speaker 3: the championship window is a yes right now, then Let's
[1:40:54] Speaker 3: think about bringing him back. If you don't have a
[1:40:58] Speaker 3: chance to win a championship, why would you jeopardize hurting
[1:41:01] Speaker 3: him more when he can just use all of this
[1:41:03] Speaker 3: time to recover the knee, I mean, the Achilles, right?
[1:41:09] Speaker 3: Get everything working, firing all at the same, there's no
[1:41:13] Speaker 3: delay in nothing. So, just like the other two, Dame,
[1:41:20] Speaker 3: Noah Hallenberg, they sit in, They're sitting and they're resting
[1:41:26] Speaker 3: so this summer they can attack their injury and make
[1:41:29] Speaker 3: sure by the time the season starts, they're as close
[1:41:32] Speaker 3: to perfect as they was before versus if there's a setback,
[1:41:37] Speaker 3: how long is the setback? What is the real injury?
[1:41:39] Speaker 3: Then after you fix that, then now you got to
[1:41:42] Speaker 3: retrain to get your right Achilles back and fire on that.
[1:41:48] Speaker 3: Let's get my left right movement because you didn't have
[1:41:49] Speaker 3: enough time to see how your legs are here because
[1:41:53] Speaker 3: it's all controlled. Everything is controlled when you're coming back
[1:41:57] Speaker 3: from rehab.
[1:41:58] Speaker 2: Right.
[1:41:58] Speaker 3: You in practice playing against, you know, dummy players and
[1:42:01] Speaker 3: a coaching staff and you look good.
[1:42:03] Speaker 2: You feel good.
[1:42:04] Speaker 3: Then when you go out there reacting in front of everybody,
[1:42:06] Speaker 3: you start seeing like little delays. Oh, you don't want
[1:42:08] Speaker 3: to jump off that right leg. You don't want to side,
[1:42:11] Speaker 3: you know, sidestep. So now he's putting more pressure on
[1:42:13] Speaker 3: something else. So the end of the season happens. Now
[1:42:17] Speaker 3: it's like, how serious is it? Hopefully it's not that serious,
[1:42:20] Speaker 3: where it doesn't hurt him during the summer, where he
[1:42:23] Speaker 3: can rehab and focus on getting better and making sure
[1:42:27] Speaker 3: that right Achilles.
[1:42:28] Speaker 2: Don't bother him anymore. So I didn't think it was
[1:42:30] Speaker 2: a good idea for him to come back and just
[1:42:34] Speaker 2: push it just to do it.
[1:42:35] Speaker 1: Celtics are second seed in the East Guild, a week
[1:42:38] Speaker 1: at Eastern Conference. We've talked about this.
[1:42:40] Speaker 3: Listen, winning a championship and almost winning, two different things, right?
[1:42:46] Speaker 3: And that's why I said I need to ask myself
[1:42:49] Speaker 3: as a owner, not as a fucking player. As a player,
[1:42:53] Speaker 3: hell yeah, I'm playing. Bring his ass back. As a owner,
[1:42:56] Speaker 3: I have to think about.
[1:42:58] Speaker 2: Can we beat OKC?
[1:43:00] Speaker 3: Can we beat Spurs? Can we beat Denver? Can we
[1:43:02] Speaker 3: beat the Timberwolves? If I can say yes on all four,
[1:43:08] Speaker 3: then I'm going to bring them back. If the answer
[1:43:11] Speaker 3: is like, you know, we don't really have enough right
[1:43:13] Speaker 3: now to beat OKC, Then sit the rest of the season.
[1:43:16] Speaker 3: See you next year. That's how we're going to do this.
[1:43:18] Speaker 3: And we're going to go for it next year. But
[1:43:21] Speaker 3: I'm not going to sit there and jeopardize it because
[1:43:22] Speaker 3: this is what they did. You did it with MB.
[1:43:27] Speaker 3: If you would have said it as a whole year,
[1:43:29] Speaker 3: you wouldn't be four or five years later. Still tweaking
[1:43:33] Speaker 3: tire blown out, tire blown out because you don't want
[1:43:36] Speaker 3: to fucking fix the axle because you you want to
[1:43:38] Speaker 3: go to work. So you're just going to keep fucking driving.
[1:43:42] Speaker 3: Knowing that there's a real problem here, you don't want
[1:43:44] Speaker 3: to fix it. Now you got, in the same year,
[1:43:46] Speaker 3: you got 42 fucking new tires. And how much money
[1:43:49] Speaker 3: that's spending? Just taking a fucking Uber, let the fucking
[1:43:51] Speaker 3: Benz spend the fucking $ 20, 000 your ass didn't want to pay.
[1:43:54] Speaker 3: Spend the $ 20, 000 the first time, so you're not spending fucking.
[1:43:57] Speaker 2: $ 40, 000.
[1:43:58] Speaker 3: To $ 60, 000 doing patchwork.
[1:44:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mr. B. Yeah. You're trying to make
[1:44:07] Speaker 2: the right decision coming back this season.
[1:44:10] Speaker 4: Uh, I'm going to say no. Um, he played 16
[1:44:14] Speaker 4: games in the regular season.
[1:44:16] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:44:17] Speaker 4: Um, I just think coming back from an injury like that,
[1:44:20] Speaker 4: that I've had, um, I think you need more time. Um,
[1:44:23] Speaker 4: he came back 16, 16 games in a crucial part
[1:44:26] Speaker 4: of the season, um, where guys are trying to make
[1:44:28] Speaker 4: the playoffs teams are trying to fight for, for seedings
[1:44:31] Speaker 4: and things like that. And, you know, you go right
[1:44:33] Speaker 4: back in there and you get right to the right,
[1:44:36] Speaker 4: right back into the action. And, uh, it's a little difficult. Um,
[1:44:40] Speaker 4: I think Joe should be fired. I think somebody in.
[1:44:44] Speaker 2: Joe Mazzulla.
[1:44:45] Speaker 4: Yeah, Joe Mazzulla. I mean, he had that man playing
[1:44:47] Speaker 4: over 30-something minutes. I believe somebody in Tatum's circle should
[1:44:51] Speaker 4: be fired just because, you know, at the end of
[1:44:56] Speaker 4: the day, it didn't work out. It didn't work out.
[1:45:00] Speaker 2: Anybody in particular in Tatum's circle? Oh, I mean... I
[1:45:02] Speaker 2: don't want to ask.
[1:45:04] Speaker 4: I mean, we got to definitely start with him.
[1:45:06] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:45:07] Speaker 2: But... Who is him?
[1:45:08] Speaker 4: Oh, Drew Hanlon. What does that got.
[1:45:13] Speaker 3: To do with it? What does that got to do
[1:45:15] Speaker 3: with the rehab?
[1:45:17] Speaker 2: It's not the rehab.
[1:45:18] Speaker 3: He probably in there working him out.
[1:45:21] Speaker 2: But it's not the rehab.
[1:45:23] Speaker 3: He's the trainer.
[1:45:24] Speaker 2: He's the trainer.
[1:45:25] Speaker 3: He's the trainer. The trainer on the game and the
[1:45:27] Speaker 3: trainer on the rehab. He's the trainer.
[1:45:29] Speaker 2: Oh, Lord.
[1:45:31] Speaker 3: But yeah, man, I just don't think.
[1:45:33] Speaker 2: It was it. Well, he had some input in it. Hey,
[1:45:35] Speaker 2: how you think he look? Shit, I think he can go.
[1:45:37] Speaker 2: Trust me. If he the one working him out, whoever
[1:45:41] Speaker 2: doing the orthopedic part, the rehab, yeah, he has to
[1:45:44] Speaker 2: say so, but they talking, and they asking Drew, hey,
[1:45:49] Speaker 2: what you think? And that motherfucker go, oh, shit, he ready. Oh, yeah,
[1:45:52] Speaker 2: he ready.
[1:45:53] Speaker 3: Right?
[1:45:53] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yes. Oh, yeah. Yes. Oh, yeah. Jalen Brown
[1:45:56] Speaker 2: might get MVP. We got to come back. But we
[1:45:58] Speaker 2: do know there's a reality to this.
[1:46:00] Speaker 3: It is.
[1:46:01] Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying.
[1:46:01] Speaker 3: And the reality is how we look in practice and
[1:46:04] Speaker 3: how we're doing our own thing is very different than
[1:46:08] Speaker 3: when I got to guard somebody who don't give two
[1:46:10] Speaker 3: shits about my knee health.
[1:46:11] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:46:12] Speaker 3: And he's sitting there trying to shake and bake me.
[1:46:14] Speaker 3: That's a very different. I know I've done it, practiced
[1:46:18] Speaker 3: for 30 straight days.
[1:46:20] Speaker 2: No knee soreness. Get into the game.
[1:46:24] Speaker 3: Got to guard somebody. I don't know none of these moves.
[1:46:27] Speaker 3: And then after the game, thinking I was ready. The
[1:46:32] Speaker 3: game only tests that.
[1:46:34] Speaker 2: Right? You know, I know my players, so I know
[1:46:36] Speaker 2: what you can and can't do. So, oh, yeah. Right?
[1:46:39] Speaker 3: When you're playing against Jalen Brunson and all these guys,
[1:46:43] Speaker 3: and they sit here doing all this extra shit you're
[1:46:45] Speaker 3: not expecting, you know what I mean? You can't guard it.
[1:46:50] Speaker 3: hand guard your knee, you know, like that. So you
[1:46:54] Speaker 3: just want everybody fired.
[1:46:55] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:46:56] Speaker 4: No, I mean, it's just too– I mean, Joe for sure.
[1:46:58] Speaker 4: I mean, come on. Joe for sure. And then we
[1:47:01] Speaker 4: can start whoever in the circle that made the– that
[1:47:04] Speaker 4: was pushing to go. You got to start from the trainer.
[1:47:06] Speaker 1: What if it's Jason Tatum that's the one in the
[1:47:08] Speaker 1: circle saying.
[1:47:09] Speaker 2: He's a part of it as well. He's part of
[1:47:10] Speaker 2: the conversation as well. All of them in the room
[1:47:12] Speaker 2: together having this conversation. And we as players, we're going
[1:47:15] Speaker 2: to lie.
[1:47:16] Speaker 3: For sure.
[1:47:17] Speaker 2: We're going to lie. Just what it is. We're going
[1:47:19] Speaker 2: to say we feel better than we are. It could
[1:47:21] Speaker 2: be sore. Listen, I need you to be honest with me.
[1:47:25] Speaker 2: Tell me how you feel after this workout, this, that,
[1:47:26] Speaker 2: and the third. That shit can be a 10. We're
[1:47:29] Speaker 2: going to go, shit, it's a 5. Right? Shit can
[1:47:31] Speaker 2: be killing us. Can't sleep at night, waking up like,
[1:47:34] Speaker 2: God damn, I shouldn't have worked out today. And then
[1:47:37] Speaker 2: you go out there, motherfucker, and go try to play.
[1:47:39] Speaker 2: That's just what it is, man. Because we're athletes.
[1:47:41] Speaker 3: We're going to compete.
[1:47:42] Speaker 2: We think we're Superman at all times. And another thing, right?
[1:47:47] Speaker 2: Just like with the... The Philadelphia 76ers. Listen, Joel Embiid's
[1:47:51] Speaker 2: injuries now. Boston, y'all playing with people fucking intelligence, dog. Like,
[1:47:55] Speaker 2: we didn't see that man. Y'all taped his calf up
[1:47:57] Speaker 2: for the game. You put tape on his calf during
[1:48:02] Speaker 2: the game. That calf. And then came out and talking
[1:48:04] Speaker 2: about this is neat. Like, fuck you think, how stupid
[1:48:09] Speaker 2: you think people are.
[1:48:11] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:48:11] Speaker 2: We saw him rubbing that motherfucker trying, he massaging this
[1:48:14] Speaker 2: part of his leg. Stretch. And you come out and
[1:48:18] Speaker 2: say he got to do it. Like, come on, man. Like, no.
[1:48:21] Speaker 2: But it was a mistake for him to come back.
[1:48:23] Speaker 2: 16 games in regular season, six games in the postseason.
[1:48:27] Speaker 2: Playing 35 minutes a night. Joe Mazzulli definitely the answer
[1:48:31] Speaker 2: to why he thought it was okay to play that
[1:48:32] Speaker 2: man that many minutes coming off an Achilles rupture, right?
[1:48:35] Speaker 2: You know what's funny?
[1:48:36] Speaker 3: I can't say it was totally a bad decision, now
[1:48:40] Speaker 3: that I think about it. because of this, mentally, mentally
[1:48:47] Speaker 3: for us, sometimes it helps.
[1:48:50] Speaker 4: With the injury.
[1:48:51] Speaker 3: He's in the worst spot now that he was.
[1:48:54] Speaker 2: No, no. Because of the facts that happened.
[1:48:55] Speaker 3: What I'm saying is he tore an Achilles.
[1:48:57] Speaker 2: Yes. Now, history has.
[1:49:00] Speaker 3: Shown a lot of people don't come back from this.
[1:49:02] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:49:04] Speaker 3: His performance gave him the confidence to say, okay.
[1:49:08] Speaker 2: My career is still my career. My career is still
[1:49:11] Speaker 2: my career. I can still do this thing. So it's
[1:49:13] Speaker 2: not hurting. I don't think it would have been an
[1:49:15] Speaker 2: evident question, though.
[1:49:17] Speaker 4: But don't you think if he doesn't play, doesn't it
[1:49:19] Speaker 4: make him look better? So I didn't play. You guys
[1:49:22] Speaker 4: went number two and losing the playoffs. I'm just saying
[1:49:25] Speaker 4: from a. Because now it's like, yo, we can kind of,
[1:49:27] Speaker 4: now we got to throw some at him when he
[1:49:29] Speaker 4: could have just set out and then came back.
[1:49:31] Speaker 2: I'm just talking about.
[1:49:32] Speaker 3: Just for him seeing to make sure he can still
[1:49:33] Speaker 3: do it.
[1:49:34] Speaker 2: I don't think it matters.
[1:49:35] Speaker 3: But summertime runs.
[1:49:37] Speaker 2: I'm doing an NBA. But still, to what detriment though?
[1:49:40] Speaker 2: To what detriment?
[1:49:41] Speaker 3: That's why I said I can't because he got a
[1:49:43] Speaker 3: lot of confidence.
[1:49:43] Speaker 2: So you tell me, so is Jason Tatum ending the
[1:49:46] Speaker 2: season in street clothes a success? No. No. Right? It's not.
[1:49:51] Speaker 2: There's no way feasible that him ending the season in
[1:49:54] Speaker 2: street clothes is a success. It's not. So, one thing
[1:50:00] Speaker 2: I do know about injury, the more time you have
[1:50:02] Speaker 2: to heal it and get it right, the better you
[1:50:04] Speaker 2: will be. That I do know for a fact. The
[1:50:07] Speaker 2: more trauma you put in an area and you overcompensate,
[1:50:11] Speaker 2: you leave room for things to happen. From experience. Didn't
[1:50:17] Speaker 2: have an Achilles, had microfracture surgery, went out there, motherfucker,
[1:50:21] Speaker 2: playing on one level. Five months after record time, like
[1:50:26] Speaker 2: Jason Tatum came back in record time, I thought I
[1:50:29] Speaker 2: was doing something special. Five months after Mike refreshed, got
[1:50:33] Speaker 2: the surgery in May, I'm back in October playing NBA basketball.
[1:50:41] Speaker 2: May to October.
[1:50:42] Speaker 3: Because I was April 4th. So, dude, mistake.
[1:50:47] Speaker 2: Played the next season, played that season, played 56 games
[1:50:51] Speaker 2: on one leg, basically. I played. The next season, I
[1:50:56] Speaker 2: played the first two games of the season. Had to
[1:50:59] Speaker 2: get microfracture on my right knee. And you trained all summer? Yes.
[1:51:07] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:51:08] Speaker 2: After the season, was rehabbing this one. Still? Still. Go
[1:51:12] Speaker 2: out this bitch and do this. Had to get surgery
[1:51:14] Speaker 2: on this one after the season, right? Two games into
[1:51:18] Speaker 2: the next season, came out, felt great. First two games,
[1:51:21] Speaker 2: averaging a double-double. Listen, I'm back. Two games. You swole up,
[1:51:27] Speaker 2: go get an MRI. Got to get a microfracture surgery.
[1:51:29] Speaker 2: Fucking college is fucking gone. Because I'm out there on
[1:51:33] Speaker 2: one leg. This is what this is, man. You're out
[1:51:36] Speaker 2: there overcompensating. You're putting all that strain on the health
[1:51:40] Speaker 2: room because, to your point, Gil, you're afraid to push
[1:51:42] Speaker 2: off that way. You're afraid to plant. You can't do it.
[1:51:46] Speaker 2: Human nature, you can try to psych yourself up all
[1:51:49] Speaker 2: you want. You physically can't do something. What's your mind?
[1:51:56] Speaker 2: You mentally strong. We all are. We've made it to
[1:51:59] Speaker 2: this point. It was a mistake. When they started the
[1:52:07] Speaker 2: conversation that we was having on this couch, when they
[1:52:10] Speaker 2: started the conversation that we heard about him coming back,
[1:52:12] Speaker 2: we said it was a mistake. To what detriment? I
[1:52:16] Speaker 2: don't care if the championship winner was now or... To
[1:52:20] Speaker 2: this man's what detriment? I just didn't see it. Because
[1:52:24] Speaker 2: we are competitors, man. We're going to go out and
[1:52:26] Speaker 2: try to do everything we possibly can to do how
[1:52:29] Speaker 2: we looked. We are. Sometimes you got to protect us
[1:52:33] Speaker 2: from us. And this was a situation that I think
[1:52:36] Speaker 2: people around Jason Tatum in his circle failed him. And
[1:52:41] Speaker 2: Joe Mazzulla is the main corporate, because he could have
[1:52:45] Speaker 2: controlled them 35 minutes a night, man. This man played
[1:52:49] Speaker 2: on one leg. Single-handedly.
[1:52:51] Speaker 4: So just like Chris Fritz.
[1:52:52] Speaker 2: Single-handedly, he could have controlled the minutes. You don't come
[1:52:55] Speaker 2: back from that kind of injury and play 35 minutes
[1:52:57] Speaker 2: a night, dog.
[1:52:59] Speaker 3: You just don't.
[1:53:02] Speaker 2: Everybody else is in peak shape. Everybody else around that
[1:53:06] Speaker 2: you're playing against is in peak shape. And you come back, dog,
[1:53:11] Speaker 2: and it just, it ain't... It wasn't a good decision, man,
[1:53:15] Speaker 2: for him. Hopefully... Get the rest of this time this
[1:53:19] Speaker 2: summer to get right and come back the same Jason
[1:53:22] Speaker 2: Tatum that we know that you can be next season.
[1:53:27] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to Dr. Rashad McCamp's PhD. Still holding
[1:53:31] Speaker 1: the baby. Was Tatum coming back this season the right decision?
[1:53:34] Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to like what I have
[1:53:38] Speaker 2: to say, per usual. I do remember once he came back.
[1:53:46] Speaker 5: A consensus of about 90% of the people in the
[1:53:49] Speaker 5: population of the basketball community were picking the Boston Celtics to.
[1:53:54] Speaker 2: Come out of the East. Am I wrong? Am I wrong?
[1:54:02] Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure out. I don't know 90% of
[1:54:04] Speaker 2: the basketball community, so I don't. I'll say, yeah. Okay.
[1:54:08] Speaker 2: After they went up 3-1, a lot of people did
[1:54:10] Speaker 2: feel like the Celtics would be the team to beat.
[1:54:11] Speaker 5: I just remember having conversations about, man, Boston looks great.
[1:54:15] Speaker 2: Tatum and Vukovic, and.
[1:54:17] Speaker 5: They could really come out of the East as favorites
[1:54:20] Speaker 5: to win it all. With Jason Tatum averaging 22, 10,
[1:54:28] Speaker 5: and 5.
[1:54:28] Speaker 4: His lowest since his fourth year.
[1:54:35] Speaker 5: 16 games in the regular season, six games in the post.
[1:54:41] Speaker 5: He doesn't play the last game. Put up great numbers
[1:54:45] Speaker 5: throughout the series. I think he gave his team confidence
[1:54:51] Speaker 5: to take it over the top. I think they thought
[1:54:53] Speaker 5: they were going to win game seven with him on
[1:54:55] Speaker 5: the floor. I don't really remember an injury that happened
[1:55:04] Speaker 5: to him. I think they're keeping him out for prevention
[1:55:07] Speaker 5: of injury based on what he said he felt. So
[1:55:13] Speaker 5: The precaution was taken. I think the biggest question is
[1:55:20] Speaker 5: why didn't Jalen Brown take them over the top like
[1:55:23] Speaker 5: he was the whole season without Jason Tatum? So you
[1:55:27] Speaker 5: can say it's a bad decision for Jason Tatum to
[1:55:31] Speaker 5: come back because he didn't finish the season. But I
[1:55:35] Speaker 5: think he did quite well when he did come back.
[1:55:39] Speaker 5: Barring the fact that 21-10-5 is not an easy feat.
[1:55:44] Speaker 5: Against top notch competition. And he looked great. He looked great.
[1:55:51] Speaker 5: I think he would say he made a good decision.
[1:55:55] Speaker 5: I think that he would say he felt good out there.
[1:55:57] Speaker 5: I think that he would say he wanted to play
[1:56:00] Speaker 5: that game seven. Try to help his team win a championship.
[1:56:06] Speaker 5: And if they wasn't in contention at number two, I
[1:56:08] Speaker 5: don't think he comes back. I think his old his whole.
[1:56:11] Speaker 5: Decision to come back. Was to try to help them win.
[1:56:14] Speaker 5: At number two. Seeming like it was going to be
[1:56:17] Speaker 5: a cakewalk.
[1:56:17] Speaker 2: To get there. So. For me. I commend Jason. For
[1:56:29] Speaker 2: going out there. And trying to fight for his team. And.
[1:56:33] Speaker 2: Get healthy.
[1:56:35] Speaker 5: You got all summer now. So there should be no excuse.
[1:56:39] Speaker 5: Going into next year.
[1:56:41] Speaker 2: So. Uh.
[1:56:42] Speaker 5: Get better. Get your shit together. Get Jalen Brown off
[1:56:47] Speaker 5: them damn streams. Y'all be straight.
[1:56:51] Speaker 1: So, Sean, to your point, let's shift over to Jalen
[1:56:54] Speaker 1: Brown quickly if we can. Jalen Brown jumped on Twitch
[1:56:57] Speaker 1: after the Celtics got eliminated and was critical of the
[1:57:00] Speaker 1: officiating in the series, saying the refs had an agenda
[1:57:03] Speaker 1: against him while also taking shots at Joel.
[1:57:05] Speaker 2: I wanted to say something, but I'm going to just
[1:57:07] Speaker 2: let you cook.
[1:57:08] Speaker 1: I'm not cooking. I'm just hosting. As you know, I
[1:57:10] Speaker 1: don't have an opinion either way. No, I mean, because
[1:57:14] Speaker 1: you just went on. That's called cooking.
[1:57:18] Speaker 3: That was the first time I ever heard that somebody
[1:57:20] Speaker 3: comes back, gets hurt, and then that was the best
[1:57:22] Speaker 3: decision that they made coming back.
[1:57:25] Speaker 2: I've never heard that before, but that was a good one.
[1:57:29] Speaker 2: Usually when you make a....
[1:57:34] Speaker 3: It's like, you ever gambled before?
[1:57:36] Speaker 2: You know, right?
[1:57:38] Speaker 3: Right, you know how like you got like $ 1, 000 right
[1:57:41] Speaker 3: and then you you you get down to a hundred
[1:57:44] Speaker 3: right and then you get all the way to 900
[1:57:47] Speaker 3: and Then you're trying to get over the top and
[1:57:52] Speaker 3: you bet the 900 and then you lose all of
[1:57:54] Speaker 3: it now you got zero You can't then say I
[1:57:59] Speaker 3: almost got to the thousand. I almost got my money
[1:58:02] Speaker 3: back You're left.
[1:58:03] Speaker 2: With zero.
[1:58:06] Speaker 3: You're left with zero.
[1:58:10] Speaker 2: You're back rehabbing again.
[1:58:15] Speaker 3: Meaning, if you didn't play, you would be further, further
[1:58:23] Speaker 3: right now than you are now if you didn't. Yeah,
[1:58:27] Speaker 3: you went out there, you had your good numbers. But
[1:58:30] Speaker 3: you're further back. So I've talked to Jay. You know,
[1:58:33] Speaker 3: Jayce is my guy. So I had the conversation. How
[1:58:36] Speaker 3: you feel?
[1:58:37] Speaker 2: Right?
[1:58:37] Speaker 3: He said conditioning was the hardest part. That was the
[1:58:40] Speaker 3: toughest part of this whole process.
[1:58:41] Speaker 2: It is. Was his condition.
[1:58:43] Speaker 3: Trying to go from wherever he was to then play
[1:58:47] Speaker 3: extreme basketball. As you can see.
[1:58:51] Speaker 2: So, Shaw, I got a question.
[1:58:52] Speaker 3: You know, I don't just make up shit. I talk
[1:58:54] Speaker 3: to the person themselves.
[1:58:56] Speaker 2: I just got a question, Shaw. You said that they
[1:58:58] Speaker 2: said you don't think there was an injury. They set
[1:59:01] Speaker 2: him out for just being cautious. Like, precautious, right?
[1:59:07] Speaker 3: Like, why?
[1:59:09] Speaker 2: Brandon gave his take. He gave his take. Because he
[1:59:12] Speaker 2: didn't say nothing that I thought was irrational.
[1:59:13] Speaker 5: You gave your take.
[1:59:15] Speaker 2: I gave my take. Yeah, they gave points and... Y'all
[1:59:19] Speaker 2: don't like my... No, I asked a question about your point.
[1:59:22] Speaker 2: You said that they set him out for precaution, but
[1:59:25] Speaker 2: there was no injury there. Right? So when we're watching
[1:59:30] Speaker 2: the game six, and he's over there stretching and rubbing
[1:59:35] Speaker 2: his leg, and they tape it up, right, his calf.
[1:59:39] Speaker 2: So why did they do that part of it if
[1:59:41] Speaker 2: there's nothing going on? So you just think they went
[1:59:44] Speaker 2: in the back like, yo, what? Hey, let me tape
[1:59:46] Speaker 2: your shit up real quick. Just because. Don't respond. Just
[1:59:51] Speaker 2: don't respond to them.
[1:59:53] Speaker 3: Because we had a long conversation.
[1:59:56] Speaker 2: I'm curious. Why do you think they just decided to
[2:00:00] Speaker 2: tape it up? Because if there's no injury? And tell
[2:00:03] Speaker 2: you that you're not going to play in game seven? Listen,
[2:00:07] Speaker 2: we want to advance, and we know you can help us.
[2:00:10] Speaker 2: But you know what? Ain't nothing wrong with you. We're
[2:00:13] Speaker 2: just going to sit you down. Yeah, don't. Like, that
[2:00:15] Speaker 2: don't add up to me.
[2:00:17] Speaker 3: And, Chad, if you're saying the same thing, don't do it.
[2:00:19] Speaker 2: That just don't add up. I've never known a team
[2:00:23] Speaker 2: take precaution on a healthy person. I've just never known.
[2:00:27] Speaker 2: Our season is on the line. Is this from today?
[2:00:30] Speaker 2: And I have a healthy guy. Well, assume healthy. Or
[2:00:36] Speaker 2: maybe healthy. That we just going, you know what? We...
[2:00:42] Speaker 2: We're not going to play you. We'd rather put our
[2:00:44] Speaker 2: season really on the line without you. That just didn't
[2:00:49] Speaker 2: make logical sense. And I try to think logical at times. Well,
[2:00:53] Speaker 2: most of the fucking time. Well, all the fucking time, really.
[2:00:57] Speaker 2: Don't fight back. Don't fight back. It's a two-part question.
[2:01:02] Speaker 2: Why did they tape his leg up? It's a three-part question.
[2:01:07] Speaker 2: Why was he on the injury report? and why didn't
[2:01:10] Speaker 2: he play? That's a three-part question, to be honest. I'm
[2:01:16] Speaker 2: going to call the Sixers, and I'm going to ask them.
[2:01:18] Speaker 2: We're not talking about the 76ers. We're talking about the
[2:01:20] Speaker 2: Boston Celtics and Jason Tatum. We're not talking about the 76ers. Okay.
[2:01:23] Speaker 2: I'll call the Boston Celtics and ask them. Yeah, I
[2:01:27] Speaker 2: thought you knew because it wasn't an injury, but you said.
[2:01:32] Speaker 2: So they faked the injury. So I thought, can you
[2:01:34] Speaker 2: get sued for filing a false police report? Boston Celtics win.
[2:01:38] Speaker 2: Don't they find people blind? Boston Celtics win game seven.
[2:01:41] Speaker 5: Does Jason Tatum play in this new series?
[2:01:45] Speaker 2: Hey, wait, hold on. I don't want to hear y'all shit.
[2:01:47] Speaker 2: Y'all said I was ducking. Y'all said I was ducking
[2:01:50] Speaker 2: because I wasn't here. And every time I come here
[2:01:53] Speaker 2: and I body bag them.
[2:01:54] Speaker 3: Then I'm the weird one.
[2:01:57] Speaker 2: Oh, you're in competition, huh? So, Joe, don't the team.
[2:01:59] Speaker 2: When I'm not here, you say I'm ducking you.
[2:02:01] Speaker 3: And then when I come and I'm sitting here putting
[2:02:04] Speaker 3: that pressure on you, then.
[2:02:06] Speaker 2: I'm the weirdo.
[2:02:09] Speaker 3: I'm the weirdo because I keep fax checking them. But
[2:02:12] Speaker 3: then if I don't show up tomorrow, what are you
[2:02:14] Speaker 3: going to say? He ducking me.
[2:02:17] Speaker 2: It bothers you. It bothers you. The chat bothers you.
[2:02:21] Speaker 2: Tell him fight back. Tell him say something dumb that
[2:02:24] Speaker 2: Tatum ain't injured. Say it.
[2:02:26] Speaker 3: I got the text.
[2:02:27] Speaker 2: Say it. I can tell you what's going on now.
[2:02:30] Speaker 2: You're going to call Boston. That's your answer? You're going
[2:02:33] Speaker 2: to call Boston?
[2:02:34] Speaker 3: Mm-mm.
[2:02:34] Speaker 2: I want to hear what the reason is. For my
[2:02:38] Speaker 2: three-part question, the tape of the injury, the injury report,
[2:02:41] Speaker 2: him not playing. Pretty much, you know. Chat GPT. Go
[2:02:46] Speaker 2: to the next series.
[2:02:47] Speaker 3: Can you text Rashad at Ken's right now with the answers?
[2:02:51] Speaker 4: I don't think he plays game one, though, if they go.
[2:02:53] Speaker 2: Probably not. If they go. Say he doesn't. He plays
[2:02:55] Speaker 2: two or three.
[2:02:56] Speaker 4: If Boston were to win game seven.
[2:02:58] Speaker 3: Yeah, he wouldn't be playing game one, two, three, or four,
[2:03:00] Speaker 3: or five, or six, or seven.
[2:03:01] Speaker 2: This is old saying. A bird in the hand is
[2:03:05] Speaker 2: worth more than two in the bush. Game seven is
[2:03:09] Speaker 2: the bird in hand. We don't know. We might not
[2:03:12] Speaker 2: get to the next series. So the bird in the
[2:03:13] Speaker 2: hand was game seven. Yeah, that's all. I'm just figuring.
[2:03:22] Speaker 2: I just want to know what why. Hold on. Let's clap.
[2:03:26] Speaker 2: Let's do the claps in the chat. Give me some claps.
[2:03:37] Speaker 4: All right, Josiah, what do we got?
[2:03:38] Speaker 2: Did you ever tape some shit up that wasn't her?
[2:03:41] Speaker 2: I gave him two weeks, got his confidence all up.
[2:03:44] Speaker 3: Now he's been sad for the last two days. He's
[2:03:46] Speaker 3: been over there, got the baby. Now he got a babysit.
[2:03:51] Speaker 3: He got a babysit over there. He ain't burped the
[2:03:54] Speaker 3: baby once today.
[2:03:55] Speaker 2: He ain't burped that baby once yet.
[2:03:59] Speaker 1: Let's quickly talk about Jalen Brown. We won't be able
[2:04:01] Speaker 1: to get to all the Jalen Brown discourse today, but
[2:04:03] Speaker 1: let's talk about the most important thing he said on
[2:04:06] Speaker 1: that Twitch stream.
[2:04:08] Speaker 2: Very critical of the officiating. Let's Let's hear those comments.
[2:04:12] Speaker 9: I was complaining about officiating, rightfully so, because we were
[2:04:16] Speaker 9: like our team finished dead last and getting calls.
[2:04:19] Speaker 2: And I was vocal about it.
[2:04:22] Speaker 9: I got thrown out some games and they keep saying
[2:04:25] Speaker 9: like this push off and stuff like that. You know
[2:04:27] Speaker 9: how many players do that? That is such a common play,
[2:04:31] Speaker 9: a basketball play. Every player does it. So why are
[2:04:34] Speaker 9: you targeting me? It clearly had an agenda. Maybe because
[2:04:38] Speaker 9: I've spoken to those critical of the refs in the
[2:04:40] Speaker 9: regular season, so you know how they responded. Like, we're
[2:04:44] Speaker 9: going to call every... You're going to lead the playoffs
[2:04:48] Speaker 9: in offensive fouls. That was the response from the officiating crew.
[2:04:52] Speaker 9: You could clearly tell. And I've actually spoke to some refs,
[2:04:55] Speaker 9: and they said it was agenda going into each game.
[2:04:58] Speaker 9: So anytime Jalen brings his arm up, just from reputation,
[2:05:02] Speaker 9: just call it. Paul George does the same thing.
[2:05:04] Speaker 2: Bullshit. Jalen Brunson does the same thing. I can go
[2:05:07] Speaker 2: down the list.
[2:05:08] Speaker 9: It's a basketball play.
[2:05:12] Speaker 1: Brown called for 10 offensive fouls in the first round,
[2:05:15] Speaker 1: twice as many as the next highest player.
[2:05:18] Speaker 3: I agree with him. He's just saying it a little wrong.
[2:05:23] Speaker 3: But he said stuff he said in the season didn't
[2:05:27] Speaker 3: affect him in the season.
[2:05:28] Speaker 2: It just affected him in that playoff series. He has
[2:05:31] Speaker 2: the most free throws that he's ever had with the
[2:05:33] Speaker 2: most points. Okay, so that's that part.
[2:05:37] Speaker 1: Most offensive fouls in the postseason. Second in offensive fouls
[2:05:41] Speaker 1: during the regular season.
[2:05:42] Speaker 3: Here's the reality of just the game itself. You're stronger
[2:05:50] Speaker 3: than the people that are guarding you. So when you
[2:05:53] Speaker 3: decide to throw your forearm and push off, there's an effect.
[2:05:58] Speaker 2: There's an advantage, right? If Brandon, right? That's Brunson.
[2:06:05] Speaker 3: If we're guarding Brandon, his push off to us will
[2:06:09] Speaker 3: not affect us to the point where they will call
[2:06:11] Speaker 3: off into foul.
[2:06:13] Speaker 2: Ready? Ready?
[2:06:17] Speaker 3: You guarding him and he decides to do this and
[2:06:19] Speaker 3: you fly 50 feet off into foul every single time
[2:06:23] Speaker 3: because he gets an advantage of his push off to you.
[2:06:27] Speaker 3: And that's Jalen Brown. Jalen Brown is strong. He plays
[2:06:30] Speaker 3: stronger than everybody else. So he's absorbing contact and giving contact.
[2:06:37] Speaker 3: So when he comes in, boom, and they go back
[2:06:40] Speaker 3: a little bit, and he gets offensive every single time.
[2:06:43] Speaker 2: So it's not like they have an agenda.
[2:06:44] Speaker 3: The agenda is, as a coach or organization, we're playing
[2:06:49] Speaker 3: against you. We're saying, hey, watch for the push-off. He's
[2:06:53] Speaker 3: gaining an advantage. So they're going to use that. When
[2:06:57] Speaker 3: we're talking about Shea's push-off, Shea's push-off is more push-off
[2:07:00] Speaker 3: so you can hit him back so he can flop. Right,
[2:07:03] Speaker 3: so it's, you know, Brunson, they're never gonna call it
[2:07:04] Speaker 3: on Brunson, right?
[2:07:06] Speaker 2: It's just that he, to them, a little.
[2:07:09] Speaker 3: Guy don't have no advantage, so they're allowed to do
[2:07:11] Speaker 3: a lot more things, right? Like, if King is trying
[2:07:13] Speaker 3: to post me up, I can put my knee in
[2:07:14] Speaker 3: him and do whatever I need to do to try
[2:07:16] Speaker 3: to hold him back.
[2:07:16] Speaker 2: They're not gonna call anything, right?
[2:07:19] Speaker 3: So it's just one of those things where he doesn't realize, like,
[2:07:24] Speaker 3: what you're complaining about with Joel Embiid If you want
[2:07:30] Speaker 3: your calls, you got to do the same thing. The
[2:07:32] Speaker 3: strongest players in the NBA do the most flopping because
[2:07:37] Speaker 3: the refs don't call all the fouls. And they're like, nah,
[2:07:41] Speaker 3: that's not how this is going to work.
[2:07:43] Speaker 2: Right? Because the smallest guards get all the fouls. Shoot
[2:07:47] Speaker 2: all the free throws.
[2:07:48] Speaker 3: Get all the free throws.
[2:07:49] Speaker 2: Right?
[2:07:50] Speaker 3: So, you know, being strong in the NBA doesn't always help. So,
[2:07:55] Speaker 3: you know, that's just what he's complaining about. At some point,
[2:08:01] Speaker 3: he's going to do because he's going to realize he's
[2:08:04] Speaker 3: coming in and he's pushing off and then doing our last.
[2:08:06] Speaker 3: They reward 12 free throws a game.
[2:08:08] Speaker 2: I see why y'all do this. So 10 offensive fouls
[2:08:12] Speaker 2: in the postseason, most. And second most during the regular season.
[2:08:15] Speaker 1: Was fined $ 50, 000 by the league for those comments as well.
[2:08:18] Speaker 1: Also got a $ 35, 000 fine earlier this season.
[2:08:21] Speaker 2: I don't know if there's a percent where you can
[2:08:23] Speaker 2: look this up. I want to know how many of
[2:08:26] Speaker 2: those was him motherfucking going the way that he.
[2:08:30] Speaker 3: Going.
[2:08:31] Speaker 2: Trying to go right. Trying to get 10 dead. Yeah,
[2:08:35] Speaker 2: he's limited in that regard, I think, and they planned
[2:08:37] Speaker 2: him for that. Some of it, yeah, flops. Ten times,
[2:08:41] Speaker 2: all of them ain't flops, young man. Okay, I'll give
[2:08:49] Speaker 2: you 50% of them. I'll give you five flops, five
[2:08:51] Speaker 2: they shouldn't have called. Cool, but you're criticizing these dudes
[2:08:59] Speaker 2: now in a way. Do you think that's going to
[2:09:02] Speaker 2: do you any favors moving forward?
[2:09:03] Speaker 4: It's not.
[2:09:05] Speaker 2: Like, do you think next season they're going to come out?
[2:09:07] Speaker 2: You're like, you know what? Let's not call him on
[2:09:10] Speaker 2: Jalen Brown. Right? Like, no, that's not doing you any favor, man.
[2:09:13] Speaker 2: Them dudes are sensitive. Like, you're critiquing their work publicly.
[2:09:18] Speaker 2: They are sensitive, and they're going to hold a grudge
[2:09:20] Speaker 2: against you. They have, and it's been since the beginning
[2:09:23] Speaker 2: of time. Since they started reffing games, they hold grudges.
[2:09:27] Speaker 2: You talk to them a certain way, you're criticizing publicly,
[2:09:30] Speaker 2: you talk to them, they're going to hold a grudge.
[2:09:32] Speaker 2: It's not doing you any favors, young man. Like, You
[2:09:35] Speaker 2: were second in the league in offensive fouls last year.
[2:09:39] Speaker 2: You might be number one next year. You're going to
[2:09:42] Speaker 2: foul out a few more games than you fouled out
[2:09:44] Speaker 2: this year. They're going to hold a grudge. Yeah, you're
[2:09:49] Speaker 2: not going to get that 50-50 call.
[2:09:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not.
[2:09:51] Speaker 2: Going to get it for the doubt. Where it's like, yeah,
[2:09:54] Speaker 2: that could be offense. That could be a block. Yeah,
[2:09:56] Speaker 2: and they're going to call it the other way. That's
[2:09:59] Speaker 2: just what it is, man. They will hold a grudge, man.
[2:10:01] Speaker 2: They talk before the game. They all, they, hey, it's
[2:10:07] Speaker 2: been going on. Cuss my friend out? Yeah, absolutely.
[2:10:10] Speaker 3: Cuss my friend out?
[2:10:11] Speaker 2: Cuss my friend.
[2:10:13] Speaker 3: Like, people don't believe, that's a real thing?
[2:10:15] Speaker 2: Yes. No, they did it against Chuck. Listen, man, it's
[2:10:17] Speaker 2: been going on, man. If you don't believe what they
[2:10:20] Speaker 2: said publicly.
[2:10:20] Speaker 3: Yeah, you think this is my friend and you just
[2:10:22] Speaker 3: going to cuss him out?
[2:10:23] Speaker 2: All right. When do we got, okay. You don't know
[2:10:25] Speaker 2: that's my son's godfather, my son's godfather. You don't know that? Like, no,
[2:10:29] Speaker 2: we don't, but yeah. This is human stuff.
[2:10:31] Speaker 3: Yes.
[2:10:32] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[2:10:33] Speaker 2: We came through referee school together. We came up in
[2:10:35] Speaker 2: this together.
[2:10:36] Speaker 4: Referee school?
[2:10:37] Speaker 2: That's like, we served in the G League together. We
[2:10:42] Speaker 2: got our stripes. We got our stripes. We whooping his
[2:10:45] Speaker 2: ass together. You know what I mean?
[2:10:47] Speaker 3: Whooping his ass.
[2:10:53] Speaker 2: Wouldn't that mean that it is an agenda? Oh, shit. Yeah.
[2:10:57] Speaker 2: Now it is. He made it that way. Yes. So
[2:10:59] Speaker 2: that way, to your point, it's going to be that way. Yes,
[2:11:04] Speaker 2: he made it that way by publicly criticizing him. He's
[2:11:06] Speaker 2: been publicly criticized.
[2:11:07] Speaker 5: And that's why he's second in the league in offensive fouls.
[2:11:10] Speaker 5: That's why he had 10 in that series. He ain't
[2:11:12] Speaker 5: doing himself no favors. That's why he said there's an agenda.
[2:11:14] Speaker 3: Cool.
[2:11:15] Speaker 2: Yeah wouldn't that make it an agenda i'm not saying
[2:11:19] Speaker 2: rashad yes cool yes absolutely i think that was his
[2:11:22] Speaker 2: point okay cool it ain't doing you no favors moving
[2:11:24] Speaker 2: forward my.
[2:11:25] Speaker 5: Point pointing out that there's an agenda against me based
[2:11:29] Speaker 5: on things that i've said cool shut up trying to
[2:11:31] Speaker 5: protect myself.
[2:11:32] Speaker 2: Shut up let your team fight for you shut up
[2:11:37] Speaker 2: so is he right Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Cool. Yes.
[2:11:42] Speaker 2: He's 100% right. The understanding, like I was with Dwight, right?
[2:11:49] Speaker 3: And I understood his frustration of everyone jumping on him.
[2:11:54] Speaker 3: And he's like, and as soon as he hit somebody,
[2:11:57] Speaker 3: then I had to talk to the ref, right? And
[2:12:01] Speaker 3: then you're seeing both sides, and you're saying, like, nah,
[2:12:04] Speaker 3: you're both right, right? What Jalen is saying is right.
[2:12:06] Speaker 3: He's watching these other people push off. He's watching players
[2:12:12] Speaker 3: push off on him. You call nothing. He comes back,
[2:12:15] Speaker 3: do the same move, offensive. And because I've talked to refs,
[2:12:20] Speaker 3: and I'm watching this game, The stronger you are and
[2:12:25] Speaker 3: the stronger you play, they give you the benefit of
[2:12:28] Speaker 3: the doubt. You're supposed to make that. LeBron, you're supposed
[2:12:31] Speaker 3: to make that. Giannis, you're supposed to make that. Jokic,
[2:12:34] Speaker 3: you're supposed to fight through that, right? Jalen Brown, you're
[2:12:38] Speaker 3: supposed to go through that. If Halle came in there
[2:12:42] Speaker 3: and did that....
[2:12:44] Speaker 2: Wow, and even now you criticizing us now and Trey
[2:12:47] Speaker 2: young free throws more down I think about you think
[2:12:50] Speaker 2: Trey young plays stronger than any of these got ten
[2:12:53] Speaker 2: free throws Cuz he's like.
[2:12:57] Speaker 3: So what Jayden Brown is saying is he's correct, right? Yeah,
[2:13:01] Speaker 3: there's gonna be a focal point He's pushing off on me.
[2:13:04] Speaker 2: And I need you to do something about it and
[2:13:05] Speaker 2: they did and he didn't help himself So the gender
[2:13:08] Speaker 2: he's on 100% correct. Absolutely. There's an agenda and And
[2:13:12] Speaker 2: him doing this after the season did not help that agenda.
[2:13:16] Speaker 3: Do you think he deserved the benefit of the doubt, though,
[2:13:19] Speaker 3: because of everything he's done this year?
[2:13:20] Speaker 2: No. Yes, I do.
[2:13:22] Speaker 3: You don't think he's earned?
[2:13:24] Speaker 2: I think so. Earned what? You don't think he's earned
[2:13:28] Speaker 2: the 50-50?
[2:13:29] Speaker 3: Like, he earns the benefit of the doubt.
[2:13:31] Speaker 2: It's not his first time criticizing him, so no.
[2:13:36] Speaker 3: I think with his play this year, I mean, I
[2:13:40] Speaker 3: gave him 50 percent of it. I mean, I still like, oh, cool.
[2:13:43] Speaker 2: Fifty percent of it. Right. Yeah. But you don't get
[2:13:48] Speaker 2: down the stretch.
[2:13:49] Speaker 5: Literally three minutes left on the game. He had an
[2:13:53] Speaker 5: offensive foul. They didn't call. He missed a shot. He
[2:13:56] Speaker 5: missed three shots down the stretch. So him getting on
[2:13:59] Speaker 5: the stream complaining about the refs have nothing to do
[2:14:01] Speaker 5: with you taking your team over the top. I think
[2:14:04] Speaker 5: at the end of the day, that's what he's really
[2:14:05] Speaker 5: on there venting about is the fact that he came
[2:14:07] Speaker 5: up short and you want to blame somebody. You got
[2:14:09] Speaker 5: to blame somebody. At the end of the day, you
[2:14:12] Speaker 5: have three minutes left. We're watching the game. You have
[2:14:14] Speaker 5: five shots. And you missed. You missed chances to put
[2:14:20] Speaker 5: your team over the top. And that ain't got nothing
[2:14:22] Speaker 5: to do with the refs because they could have called
[2:14:24] Speaker 5: some fouls on you, but they didn't.
[2:14:26] Speaker 2: So I think at this point, he just needs to
[2:14:28] Speaker 2: do some reflecting.
[2:14:30] Speaker 5: He needs to get in the mirror and really analyze
[2:14:33] Speaker 5: what he's complaining about truly. Cause throughout the game, you
[2:14:35] Speaker 5: see him beat and you say he was flopping. You're
[2:14:38] Speaker 5: giving me, you're giving me offensive calls. Don't have nothing
[2:14:40] Speaker 5: to do with you getting your team down the stretch
[2:14:42] Speaker 5: and being in the game.
[2:14:44] Speaker 2: We call that draw snitch.
[2:14:46] Speaker 5: You're in the game. You had a chance to win.
[2:14:49] Speaker 5: We was looking at you to take over. It didn't happen.
[2:14:51] Speaker 5: This is the glory moment he was waiting on.
[2:14:55] Speaker 2: It didn't happen. Don't get on there with complaining.
[2:14:58] Speaker 5: Just come back next year and know what to do.
[2:15:02] Speaker 3: There's, It's just that it's... Mike took 27 shots. I mean,
[2:15:09] Speaker 3: he played aggressive, 33 points, six free throws. But, you know,
[2:15:12] Speaker 3: some guys, you know, two-foot jumpers, you know, just in history,
[2:15:15] Speaker 3: two-foot jumpers don't really get fouled because they jump away
[2:15:17] Speaker 3: from everything. Jump away or jump over, right? If you're
[2:15:21] Speaker 3: just strictly a two-foot jumper, you know, they tend to
[2:15:24] Speaker 3: don't get fouled because, you know, one foot a week,
[2:15:29] Speaker 3: you're taking off from, you know, everywhere, so you're going
[2:15:31] Speaker 3: to get.
[2:15:31] Speaker 2: Fouled a lot.
[2:15:34] Speaker 3: With him, it's just, listen, you're at the point where
[2:15:37] Speaker 3: you don't really have to say anything. Let the organization
[2:15:40] Speaker 3: send them clips in. That's what everybody else is doing.
[2:15:43] Speaker 3: Sending them clips in. Everybody who's playing against Shea. Lakers
[2:15:48] Speaker 3: right now sending them offensive clips in. They're never going
[2:15:50] Speaker 3: to call a real offensive foul unless it's against somebody
[2:15:53] Speaker 3: that's smaller than them.
[2:15:54] Speaker 2: He's got to be egregious for them to come out.
[2:15:57] Speaker 2: For him, yeah. He's at the perfect weight.
[2:16:00] Speaker 3: Him and Austin Reed is at the perfect weight to
[2:16:02] Speaker 3: do whatever they want and still get the benefit of
[2:16:04] Speaker 3: the foul.
[2:16:07] Speaker 2: You had a good series, man.
[2:16:10] Speaker 3: You lost because your game plan of what you had
[2:16:15] Speaker 3: success with just failed you.
[2:16:18] Speaker 2: Shooting 53s, not making much of them, right?
[2:16:22] Speaker 3: And you didn't have much of anything else going on.
[2:16:25] Speaker 2: Right?
[2:16:26] Speaker 3: The game, the last game, you.
[2:16:28] Speaker 2: Took 16 free throws.
[2:16:30] Speaker 3: Damien Joel and DB took that by himself.
[2:16:33] Speaker 2: Right?
[2:16:33] Speaker 3: So you got one guy putting you in foul trouble,
[2:16:35] Speaker 3: eating up the clock, getting guaranteed points.
[2:16:38] Speaker 2: They all coming down here firing. That's how he's maxing
[2:16:41] Speaker 2: the yield point, get the play down here. Yeah. BJ
[2:16:44] Speaker 2: has to get the play down here. So, yeah. Yeah,
[2:16:48] Speaker 2: but you're complaining, like I said. You didn't do yourself
[2:16:49] Speaker 2: no favor. So, valid, absolutely. You didn't do yourself no favor.
[2:16:54] Speaker 2: By this stream, right? You didn't. Because they hold grudges.
[2:17:00] Speaker 3: That's the thing. They hold grudges. No matter what you say,
[2:17:02] Speaker 3: no matter. The NBA don't got to fine you because
[2:17:05] Speaker 3: the ref is going to fine you every time, right?
[2:17:08] Speaker 3: And that fine becomes points, sitting on the bench, all
[2:17:11] Speaker 3: of it. That's the ref finds.
[2:17:13] Speaker 2: They're going to get you. 2,000 in the first quarter?
[2:17:16] Speaker 3: They're going to get you.
[2:17:16] Speaker 2: On a regular basis?
[2:17:18] Speaker 1: In addition that the league did find him a total
[2:17:20] Speaker 1: of $ 85, 000.
[2:17:21] Speaker 2: They don't need to.
[2:17:22] Speaker 3: That ref is going to do it the rest of
[2:17:24] Speaker 3: his career. I had a player on our team, and
[2:17:29] Speaker 3: it was two bullshit calls, and I had to go
[2:17:31] Speaker 3: to relate.
[2:17:31] Speaker 2: Come on, you're not some bullshit.
