Gil's Arena Recaps NBA & NFL On Christmas Day as The Gil's Arena Crew merges with the Arena Gridiron Crew for a supersized Christmas Special breaking down all the action from the NBA & NFL on Chrstimas Day. The tip things off by reacting to Victor Wembanyama & the San Antonio Spurs continuing their belt to a$$ tour on the OKC Thunder as the French Phenom handed the NBA's leading team their 3rd straight loss this season, sparking a debate on whether or not OKC & San Antonio is the newest rival to take over the NBA. They then turn to the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Houston Rockets that inspired JJ Redick to throw a warning shot at Lakers players like LeBron James, Luka Doncic & Austin Reaves, telling his team to prepare for changes coming in the near future before breaking down the New York Knicks' improbable comeback over Donovan Mitchell & The Cleveland Cavaliers as they continue their run after taking home the NBA Cup. They then switch over to the Gridiron where they Skip Bayless reacts to a meaningless win for the Dallas Cowboys, Jared Goff & The Detroit Lions season went up in flames and Aqib Talib's Denver Broncos squeaked out a narrow win over the helpless Kansas City Chiefs in what could go down as Travis Kelce's final home game in the NFL. [0:20] Speaker 2: You look like a champ, man.
[0:23] Speaker 3: But this is Gil's Arena presented by Underdog. I'm merely
[0:26] Speaker 3: a host, Josiah Johnson. Sadly, Gil is not with us today.
[0:29] Speaker 3: So we're doing a special day after Christmas crossover episode
[0:32] Speaker 3: with some of the arena gridiron crew. So making his
[0:35] Speaker 3: first appearance in Gil's Arena, we got one of the
[0:37] Speaker 3: titans of the sports media game, Skip Bayless, in the building.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Hello, Skip.
[0:46] Speaker 3: Seated next to him, a man that goes by many names.
[0:49] Speaker 3: They call him Cemetery Larry. They call him Shashradamus. NCAA
[0:53] Speaker 3: champion of the world, Rashad McCants.
[0:54] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[0:55] Speaker 2: That's Cemetery Larry.
[1:00] Speaker 4: I'm going to call him Cemetery Larry.
[1:03] Speaker 1: So you got the mask.
[1:04] Speaker 3: You got the ingredients for a special stew that you
[1:06] Speaker 3: were planning on making.
[1:06] Speaker 5: Yeah, little bro had to bring Shad back. It's going
[1:09] Speaker 5: to be legendary. You got some stew that you're... It's
[1:12] Speaker 5: a bag. You know, we never know what's in the bag.
[1:14] Speaker 5: It might be bags in the bag.
[1:15] Speaker 2: You never know.
[1:18] Speaker 5: On this side of the couch, we got the distinguished
[1:20] Speaker 5: gentleman from Oak Cliff, former number one pick, Canyon Martin,
[1:22] Speaker 5: back here with us.
[1:26] Speaker 1: What's happening, Mike?
[1:27] Speaker 2: The D-Bow.
[1:28] Speaker 4: I like my quick time. We don't even get no
[1:30] Speaker 4: theme music.
[1:32] Speaker 2: Can we get some theme music.
[1:33] Speaker 1: On our team? It's the first year.
[1:35] Speaker 2: It's the first year.
[1:37] Speaker 1: Like, God, man.
[1:38] Speaker 2: You feel me?
[1:39] Speaker 1: This is what you got to develop, man.
[1:41] Speaker 4: D-Bow in the background and shit.
[1:43] Speaker 2: You feel me?
[1:44] Speaker 5: Last but not least, we got five-time Pro Bowler, Super
[1:46] Speaker 5: Bowl champion of the.
[1:47] Speaker 1: World, Aqib Tlaib. You're with us.
[1:52] Speaker 2: I'm going to talk my name out of respect. Just entertainment, man.
[2:00] Speaker 1: I feel it.
[2:00] Speaker 3: We got a lot to get into. Here's what's cracking
[2:02] Speaker 3: in Guild Arena today. The Spurs defeated the defending champion
[2:07] Speaker 3: Thunder for the third time in less than two weeks.
[2:09] Speaker 3: Can we officially call this a rivalry? The Lakers have
[2:13] Speaker 3: lost three straight games, and J.J. Redick says things are
[2:15] Speaker 3: going to be uncomfortable for some players. What do the
[2:18] Speaker 3: Purple and Gold need to do to get back on
[2:20] Speaker 3: the right track? And the Broncos are one away from
[2:22] Speaker 3: securing the top seed in the AFC, but is Denver
[2:25] Speaker 3: for real or fool gazey? Before we get into all that,
[2:28] Speaker 3: as always, this show is brought to you by Underdog.

[3:31] Speaker 3: audio versions available on Apple, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts. So,
[3:35] Speaker 3: let's start with the marquee matchup on the NBA Christmas slate.
[3:38] Speaker 3: Thunder entered their NBA Cup semifinal showdown against the Spurs
[3:41] Speaker 3: in the midst of a record-tying 24-1 start before getting
[3:44] Speaker 3: eliminated by San Antonio.
[3:46] Speaker 1: You're going to bring the.
[3:47] Speaker 2: Crow right in? You're going to make me eat crow
[3:48] Speaker 2: right away? Right away. Don't wait for the crow.
[3:52] Speaker 1: Don't wait.
[3:53] Speaker 3: Like I said, Thunder got eliminated by the Spurs in
[3:57] Speaker 3: the NBA Cup semifinals. Winby's first game back from injury.
[4:00] Speaker 3: San Antonio got their second straight win. over OKC Tuesday
[4:03] Speaker 3: night with a 20-point blowout, which was the Thunder's worst
[4:06] Speaker 3: loss of the season after losing their first two games
[4:08] Speaker 3: by a combined nine points. And on Christmas Day, Wimby
[4:12] Speaker 3: and the Spurs gifted the Thunder with a shiny new
[4:14] Speaker 3: belt for them ho-ho-hos and quickly put it to use.
[4:16] Speaker 3: Let's take a look at the highlights if we can, please.
[4:20] Speaker 3: Thunder started off strong, hitting the first seven shots to
[4:23] Speaker 3: take an early lead, but the Spurs closed the first
[4:25] Speaker 3: quarter on a 29-18 run to go up by five
[4:29] Speaker 3: after the first frame. You see Darren Fox out there
[4:32] Speaker 3: doing it in SGA's group. And Dylan Harper as well.
[4:39] Speaker 3: Number two pick, ladies and gentlemen. San Antonio led 69-60
[4:44] Speaker 3: at the break. The 69 points that the Thunder gave
[4:47] Speaker 3: up is the most that OKC allowed in a half
[4:50] Speaker 3: all season long. You see the alien once again doing
[4:55] Speaker 3: his thing in limited minutes. But Darren Fox scored 21
[4:58] Speaker 3: of his game-high 29 points in the first half. going
[5:02] Speaker 3: 12 of 19 from the field, three for four from deep.
[5:04] Speaker 3: Winby came off the bench for a six straight game
[5:06] Speaker 3: while still on a minutes restriction. Finished with 19 points
[5:09] Speaker 3: and 11 boards. Stephon Castle added 19 and seven dimes
[5:14] Speaker 3: as well. So SGA kept his 20-point scoring streak alive.
[5:17] Speaker 3: He finished with 22 points on seven and 19 shooting.
[5:20] Speaker 3: He was one of six from beyond the arc. Isaiah Hartenstein,
[5:24] Speaker 3: also known as Harkenstein here in the arena, had 13 points,
[5:26] Speaker 3: 12 rebounds. Chet Holmgren added 10 points, 12 boards for OKC.
[5:31] Speaker 3: So Thunder tried to make things interesting, but never got
[5:33] Speaker 3: closer than seven points in the final two quarters. Spurs
[5:37] Speaker 3: held the Thunder to 39% from the field, 25% from three. OKC,
[5:38] Speaker 3: 11 for 44 from deep. Alex Russo, two for 12,
[5:40] Speaker 3: and then 11 for 44 from deep. While San Antonio
[5:42] Speaker 3: shot 54% from the field, 38% from deep. So Spurs
[5:44] Speaker 3: beat the Thunder for the third time. In less than
[5:56] Speaker 3: two weeks, while getting their eighth straight win after OKC's
[5:59] Speaker 3: first home loss of the season, reigning MVP SGA had
[6:02] Speaker 3: this to say about his squad's recent struggles with the Spurs.
[6:05] Speaker 6: You don't lose to a team three times in a
[6:07] Speaker 6: row in a short span without them being better than you.
[6:12] Speaker 6: So we have to get better. You have to look
[6:14] Speaker 6: in the mirror. And that's everybody from top to bottom
[6:20] Speaker 6: if we want to reach our ultimate goal.
[6:24] Speaker 3: SGA saying these Spurs are better than the Thunder. This
[6:26] Speaker 3: is the first time OKC has lost back-to-back games by
[6:28] Speaker 3: 15-plus points since the 2021-2022 season. Shashradamus, I see you
[6:34] Speaker 3: have the book out, the belt, the mask, the bag
[6:38] Speaker 3: that may have bags in it, may have ingredients.
[6:41] Speaker 2: For a certain type of stew. We're losing new props
[6:43] Speaker 2: in the whole nine.
[6:44] Speaker 5: I'm on the other side of the couch today, though.
[6:46] Speaker 3: You have shifted. To the same side of the couch.
[6:51] Speaker 3: So what's your reaction to the Spurs getting their third
[6:52] Speaker 3: straight win over the Thunder this season?
[6:55] Speaker 7: Well, I left my book out in the car. It
[6:58] Speaker 7: got a little wet.
[7:00] Speaker 5: So it don't have the oomph that it used to have,
[7:04] Speaker 5: but it just so happened I brought the other book.
[7:10] Speaker 5: It's a bigger book. I call it the Book of Circles.
[7:18] Speaker 5: There are several circles on there. Full circles. A lot
[7:20] Speaker 5: of full circles in this book.
[7:23] Speaker 2: And let's see, page one. I'm always fucking right. I'm
[7:33] Speaker 2: always fucking right.
[7:35] Speaker 5: Yeah, let's go with this. Coming into the season, the Spurs,
[7:40] Speaker 5: what did I say? Playing like a championship caliber team
[7:44] Speaker 5: because they had a great, great training camp. All of
[7:48] Speaker 5: their players come in knowing their roles, excessively those who
[7:52] Speaker 5: can really play. Castle, Vassell, Johnson, and even Dylan Harper
[7:57] Speaker 5: as a rookie came in knowing his place immediately. And
[8:01] Speaker 5: no one predicted Victor Wimbignano to go down and them
[8:04] Speaker 5: having the rebound, but actually getting their other leader, De'Aaron Fox,
[8:09] Speaker 5: on the backup side to come in and pick up
[8:11] Speaker 5: the pieces. You know, you pick up those pieces and
[8:14] Speaker 5: you say, well, what do we got here? We got
[8:16] Speaker 5: a pretty good team. Then you look at OKC. They're
[8:19] Speaker 5: going on this run. They're playing these teams that I said,
[8:23] Speaker 5: we can, you know, pull it all back and go
[8:25] Speaker 5: back to it. They're not playing nobody. Strength of schedule.
[8:28] Speaker 5: Worst strength of schedule in the league at the point
[8:30] Speaker 5: that you made those comments. And then all of a sudden,
[8:33] Speaker 5: they played a team that was pretty good, solid. You know,
[8:36] Speaker 5: I got a lot of pushback. I got a lot
[8:37] Speaker 5: of flack. But luckily, me and Mike, we homeboys, so
[8:41] Speaker 5: I don't really put him in the bag as much.
[8:44] Speaker 5: I have a lot of leeway with him.
[8:46] Speaker 2: You need a book? I don't have his face on here.
[8:49] Speaker 2: I leave his face out.
[8:51] Speaker 5: Because we usually agree on shit.
[8:53] Speaker 2: I see it. I watch. So now it's like, you know,
[8:55] Speaker 2: I feel bad.
[8:56] Speaker 1: I feel bad.
[8:57] Speaker 5: I had to call the whole cemetery and the crematory
[9:00] Speaker 5: and tell them, look, I got a body on the way. So,
[9:03] Speaker 5: you know, OKC was the type of team that I seen.
[9:07] Speaker 5: You know, when we watch as Hoopers, there are certain
[9:10] Speaker 5: things that the fans can't pick up that we can.
[9:14] Speaker 7: And that's certain.
[9:15] Speaker 5: qualities that certain players have, especially when I talked about
[9:19] Speaker 5: coming back from a championship and not regrouping and not
[9:22] Speaker 5: really adding pieces that can actually revamp your roster.
[9:26] Speaker 7: They didn't do any of that. Caruso is already at
[9:29] Speaker 7: his peak. He doesn't have a ceiling that's going to
[9:32] Speaker 7: be like, oh, he's going to get better. Neither does
[9:34] Speaker 7: Lou Dort. All of these guys are role players that
[9:37] Speaker 7: are going to be in their role. But you look
[9:39] Speaker 7: at a team like the Spurs, they got players that
[9:42] Speaker 7: are going to get better continually. Vassell and Johnson held
[9:45] Speaker 7: it down during the pop era. They're ready to go
[9:48] Speaker 7: to new heights. And now we're looking at a new
[9:51] Speaker 7: coach that is letting them play. I think that OKC
[9:55] Speaker 7: got drunk on that championship champagne. Jalen Williamson, they can
[9:59] Speaker 7: beat the Bulls and the Warriors and all of these
[10:01] Speaker 7: different things.
[10:03] Speaker 5: Come in, and then your boy, you know, I wish
[10:05] Speaker 5: this was the old SGA.
[10:07] Speaker 1: A lot of letters on that jersey.
[10:08] Speaker 7: Old SGA. But he says that this team is better.
[10:14] Speaker 7: This team is better.
[10:16] Speaker 5: So if this team is better and y'all ain't forcibly
[10:19] Speaker 5: played any team like this all season, that record seems
[10:25] Speaker 5: to be fool's gold to me.
[10:27] Speaker 1: Fool's gold.
[10:28] Speaker 5: Now, I'm not saying that they can't get better. I'm
[10:31] Speaker 5: not saying that they can't go on another run. But
[10:34] Speaker 5: now they got harder teams that are watching. And us
[10:36] Speaker 5: as hoopers, we see what's going on. We see, all right,
[10:39] Speaker 5: these guys, we can let SGA get his points. Let's
[10:43] Speaker 5: stop these other guys. Chad Holmgren is overrated. Jalen Williams
[10:47] Speaker 5: got to get his groove back because he looked a
[10:49] Speaker 5: little bit overrated as well. So now we watch the
[10:52] Speaker 5: game from a different lens now.
[10:55] Speaker 2: We're looking at them.
[10:56] Speaker 7: From a different lens, and hopefully the rest of the
[10:58] Speaker 7: NBA is watching the same way.
[11:00] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to Kenya.
[11:03] Speaker 3: Man of the people, Shastradamus, said he could have put
[11:06] Speaker 3: you in the body bag, called the cemetery, called the crematory.
[11:09] Speaker 2: Right. A proper service.
[11:11] Speaker 1: Right.
[11:13] Speaker 2: I just told him I was wearing the same shoes
[11:14] Speaker 2: as him today, so we was good.
[11:17] Speaker 1: So. Did y'all just become best friends? No.
[11:20] Speaker 2: But, yeah, he was right. That's all I, hey, there's
[11:25] Speaker 2: nothing that I could... fight back. There's no fight back
[11:30] Speaker 2: with this when the team didn't beat you three times.
[11:32] Speaker 2: Can we clip that? He was right. Can we clip that?
[11:34] Speaker 2: I need that. I'm going to be a man to
[11:35] Speaker 2: stand on. He was right. I watched in depth. I
[11:37] Speaker 2: really didn't watch in depth the first couple games. I
[11:39] Speaker 2: watched the cup game, but It was the first, and
[11:53] Speaker 2: there was a lot of stake, the money on the
[11:55] Speaker 2: line and all that. So I really didn't put too
[11:57] Speaker 2: much into that one. I thought they would bounce back
[12:00] Speaker 2: the next two and really try to figure this thing out.
[12:05] Speaker 2: Playing in San Antonio was going to be tougher, but
[12:07] Speaker 2: I thought they would find a way to do it,
[12:08] Speaker 2: and they got smacked by 20. Come back home two
[12:12] Speaker 2: days later, playing at home. I'm like, they'll right the ship.
[12:17] Speaker 2: They lose by 50. It's like, they got their number.
[12:21] Speaker 2: They're Their wings and skilled guys match up and are
[12:29] Speaker 2: probably more athletic than, not probably, they are more athletic
[12:33] Speaker 2: than Oklahoma City's guys. Oklahoma City guys might be better
[12:37] Speaker 2: shooters right now, but the totality of the game, I
[12:42] Speaker 2: probably would, just watching it, I'm going to give the
[12:46] Speaker 2: nod to the San Antonio guys in that regard. They are,
[12:50] Speaker 2: like I said, they still have room to grow. Castle
[12:53] Speaker 2: and Harper and Johnson knows how to play. Vassell knows
[12:57] Speaker 2: how to play. De'Aaron Fox knows how to play. I
[13:01] Speaker 2: think he knows how to play. So I think and
[13:05] Speaker 2: them leaning on the fact that they won some games
[13:11] Speaker 2: without Wimby. That was huge for them. They won some
[13:15] Speaker 2: games without Wimby. So that was huge for their confidence
[13:18] Speaker 2: and I'm going to go with the young coach aspect
[13:21] Speaker 2: in this as well, right? That he speaks their language.
[13:28] Speaker 1: He's young.
[13:28] Speaker 2: So they, I've, I thought this before pop, unfortunately it
[13:33] Speaker 2: held the reasons was the reason he had to step away.
[13:35] Speaker 2: I was like the older he got, I'm like, and they,
[13:38] Speaker 2: they was drafted younger. They first pick second pick third.
[13:40] Speaker 2: Like they getting top five picks every year. And I
[13:43] Speaker 2: was like, yeah, they looking at pop like their grandfather.
[13:47] Speaker 4: Right.
[13:48] Speaker 2: They respect him, but they looking at like what this
[13:51] Speaker 2: old man can tell me. This is a new game.
[13:53] Speaker 2: And I think that's where they were struggling at when
[13:55] Speaker 2: Pop was still at the helm. Them buying into the
[13:58] Speaker 2: message that Pop was teaching them. So for them to
[14:00] Speaker 2: put a younger voice and a younger face in that seat,
[14:03] Speaker 2: I think went a long way for them dudes, the
[14:06] Speaker 2: way they're playing and how they're competing. So yeah, they
[14:09] Speaker 2: got Oklahoma City number. And Oklahoma City, like Shea said,
[14:12] Speaker 2: they got to look in the mirror because this team,
[14:15] Speaker 2: they just as young as y'all. And they not going nowhere.
[14:20] Speaker 2: And you got to stop with this Caruso can guard
[14:22] Speaker 2: fucking everybody thing. Man, he's not Draymond Creed. Listen, let's
[14:27] Speaker 2: stop that. Like, he can't guard Wimby. And you got
[14:30] Speaker 2: two seven-footers over there that you're paying. They need to
[14:32] Speaker 2: try to, hey. Put your big boy pants on and
[14:37] Speaker 2: go guard Wimby and try to, but yeah, that's, but
[14:40] Speaker 2: shot was right. And I eat crow today.
[14:43] Speaker 1: Okay.
[14:44] Speaker 5: Shout out to Mitt Johnson as well. You got to
[14:45] Speaker 5: give it up to light-skinned dudes with a LaBella-inspired curl.
[14:49] Speaker 1: Damn.
[14:49] Speaker 2: We are coming back. You coming back? We are coming
[14:51] Speaker 2: back in 2020.
[14:51] Speaker 1: It's strong. It's strong.
[14:52] Speaker 2: I might grow mine out.
[14:53] Speaker 1: We'll see. But let's shift over here to Skip. Go, Keeb.
[14:56] Speaker 1: I want to hear what you have to say.
[14:57] Speaker 4: I just think the best teams in all sports, baseball, football, basketball,
[15:03] Speaker 4: They always had that kryptonite. They had that team who
[15:06] Speaker 4: going to pull up, not scared, young coach, and match them, man.
[15:10] Speaker 4: The Spurs match their energy on defense. That's what they do.
[15:14] Speaker 4: A lot of teams don't even try to match their
[15:16] Speaker 4: energy on defense. You know what I'm saying? I feel
[15:19] Speaker 4: like that's why they cold. That's why they win games.
[15:21] Speaker 4: They got young athletic guys. They play defense. We're going
[15:25] Speaker 4: to outwork your ass, outrun your ass. But, shit, that's
[15:28] Speaker 4: what the Spurs do. They stand on defense. They put
[15:30] Speaker 4: Wimby in that middle, protect that rim. And they match
[15:33] Speaker 4: you on that defense. So it's a rude awakening to them.
[15:37] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? Like, shit, they do the
[15:40] Speaker 4: same thing we do. You know what I'm saying? They
[15:42] Speaker 4: got a young, athletic-ass team like we do. You know
[15:44] Speaker 4: what I'm saying? So that's it, man. You meet your match.
[15:48] Speaker 4: You meet your match, man. And it's just a good
[15:50] Speaker 4: matchup for the Spurs. You know what I'm saying? They fearless, man.
[15:54] Speaker 4: They up and coming. They going to have some action.
[15:57] Speaker 2: Okay.
[15:59] Speaker 8: Okay.
[16:01] Speaker 1: I grew up in Oklahoma City. I was a Spurs
[16:06] Speaker 1: fan for the longest time. Wasn't a Thunder fan until
[16:09] Speaker 1: last year when they got a hold of me because
[16:14] Speaker 1: I'd never seen anything like this in all my years
[16:16] Speaker 1: of watching and studying the game you guys played at
[16:19] Speaker 1: the highest level. And I couldn't believe how they were
[16:24] Speaker 1: winning and dominating and they were smoking teams with pot.
[16:30] Speaker 1: I don't smoke pot, so I don't know. Who knows?
[16:33] Speaker 1: Good time to start. I should maybe start.
[16:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
[16:36] Speaker 5: They were smoking on that loud pack last year.
[16:41] Speaker 2: You're absolutely right, Skip.
[16:42] Speaker 1: They're smoking teams with pot as in points off turnovers.
[16:47] Speaker 1: Never seen anything like it. They just turn you over
[16:50] Speaker 1: and they go score. And they turn you over and
[16:52] Speaker 1: they go score. And teams couldn't match the rhythm of it,
[16:58] Speaker 1: the ferocity of it, the overwhelming just dynamic of they
[17:05] Speaker 1: smoked you with pot. And they did beat Ant-Man and
[17:09] Speaker 1: the T-Wolves in the playoffs. And they did beat Joker
[17:13] Speaker 1: in the playoffs. It took seven games, but they did that.
[17:15] Speaker 1: So you've got to give them that. Because I just
[17:18] Speaker 1: kept saying, well, it'll end here, it'll end here, it'll
[17:20] Speaker 1: end here. And it didn't end. And then the damnedest
[17:23] Speaker 1: thing happened. For the first time I could remember in
[17:26] Speaker 1: any sport, a team won a championship and lost nobody.
[17:31] Speaker 1: Lost nobody. And I'm saying, damn. Should we go with
[17:36] Speaker 1: the D word? We got dynastic here? And they start
[17:40] Speaker 1: off 24-1 because they blew a game at Portland late
[17:43] Speaker 1: one night where half the starters didn't play and they
[17:46] Speaker 1: didn't care. And The turning point came the day before
[17:51] Speaker 1: the Cup semifinal against these Spurs. When SGA was asked
[17:57] Speaker 1: in the media availability, you guys interested in breaking Golden
[18:02] Speaker 1: State's 73-9 all-time wins record? And what did he say?
[18:08] Speaker 1: I was watching it live and I thought, Okay, just
[18:12] Speaker 1: deflect it. Just say, no, we got a lot. We're
[18:14] Speaker 1: 50 wins from that now. They're 24-1, but they're 50
[18:18] Speaker 1: wins away from doing this, right? And he embraced it, man.
[18:23] Speaker 1: And it came across as arrogant and condescending where the
[18:28] Speaker 1: reigning MVP said, yeah, yeah, we want to win every game.
[18:33] Speaker 1: And by the way, at that point, they looked to
[18:35] Speaker 1: be like they were going to be favored to win
[18:37] Speaker 1: every game the rest of the regular season. Yep. And
[18:42] Speaker 1: that lit the Spurs fire because the Spurs don't like
[18:46] Speaker 1: this team. And especially Wimby does not like Chad Holmgren
[18:51] Speaker 1: and is offended that Chad is even in the same
[18:54] Speaker 1: sentence with him. So he's going to come out on fire,
[18:58] Speaker 1: as are they against SGA. And it reminds me of
[19:02] Speaker 1: the old Tyson line about everybody has a plan until
[19:05] Speaker 1: they get punched in the mouth. Yep. The MVP just
[19:09] Speaker 1: got punched in the mouth three straight games. He couldn't
[19:14] Speaker 1: MVP against these guys because, as Kenyon said, they got
[19:18] Speaker 1: too many long, strong defenders, and they can just keep
[19:21] Speaker 1: wearing his ass out with long, strong after long, strong
[19:25] Speaker 1: after long, strong. And it starts with Stephon Castle. I'm
[19:28] Speaker 1: telling you, right before our eyes, he's turned into a
[19:31] Speaker 1: star to me, two-way star. Sure. And Vassell can defend.
[19:35] Speaker 1: And Harrison Barnes is the experienced one, can defend. And
[19:41] Speaker 1: Keldon Johnson at 6'6, can come in. He weighs 225.
[19:45] Speaker 1: He can come in and make it hard on SGA.
[19:48] Speaker 1: So to me... I'm looking at these numbers. SGA in
[19:52] Speaker 1: these three games is 3 of 17 from 3. 3
[19:56] Speaker 1: of 17. But more important, how does he wear your
[20:00] Speaker 1: ass out? It's at the free throw line. So what's happened?
[20:05] Speaker 1: in these three games, he's averaging five makes a game.
[20:09] Speaker 1: Last year, he led the league with eight makes a
[20:11] Speaker 1: game and he led the playoffs with eight makes a game.
[20:15] Speaker 1: The refs are saying, no, they're better than you. They're
[20:18] Speaker 1: making you work. They're not letting you shoot threes because
[20:21] Speaker 1: everybody plays him to shoot twos and he just sits
[20:24] Speaker 1: back there and he's got that little last second snap
[20:28] Speaker 1: in his three like, I'll just take this three. Not
[20:32] Speaker 1: against these guys. They play him in his jock when
[20:36] Speaker 1: he crosses half court. And I've seen him. He looks
[20:42] Speaker 1: lost to me against this team. And I want to
[20:45] Speaker 1: make the point. The Spurs are now the best team
[20:47] Speaker 1: in the NBA because not only do they have Oklahoma
[20:51] Speaker 1: City's number, they have smashed the number. These games have
[20:56] Speaker 1: not been close. I know the first game, the cup
[20:58] Speaker 1: semifinal was a two-point game. It wasn't nearly that close.
[21:01] Speaker 1: And then the next two are just complete wipeouts. It's
[21:04] Speaker 1: 130 to 110 at San Antonio and 117 to 102
[21:09] Speaker 1: yesterday at Oklahoma City. It's a wipeout. And let me
[21:14] Speaker 1: say this about Wiminyama. This is fascinating to me because
[21:19] Speaker 1: if you look hard at the games he's started in
[21:22] Speaker 1: the NBA, they're 49 and 81 as a team with
[21:27] Speaker 1: him as a starter. 49 and 81. The last two
[21:29] Speaker 1: years I kept looking at it saying, he's a freak.
[21:33] Speaker 2: He's an alien.
[21:34] Speaker 1: He's by far the best defensive player in the league,
[21:37] Speaker 1: but in the games he starts, they can't win and
[21:40] Speaker 1: they haven't made the playoffs the last two years. What changed? Well,
[21:43] Speaker 1: what changed was, as you pointed out, They had to
[21:47] Speaker 1: go 12 games without him. And they won nine of
[21:50] Speaker 1: them without him. And in the games he has not started,
[21:54] Speaker 1: they're 15-4 because he's at his best when he comes
[21:59] Speaker 1: off the bench. And he's the first to admit, my
[22:03] Speaker 1: energy comes and goes. Well, if you bring him in
[22:05] Speaker 1: against Chet as a detonator off the bench... He just
[22:09] Speaker 1: comes and plays angry, just like they play angry against SGA.
[22:13] Speaker 1: He's coming in for... He only played 23 minutes yesterday
[22:16] Speaker 1: and changed the game. So... I don't know how much
[22:19] Speaker 1: longer he's going to sit still for coming off the bench.
[22:23] Speaker 2: I want to know that as well.
[22:24] Speaker 1: Okay, that's a big question. But right now, they are
[22:27] Speaker 1: a better team with him playing 23, 24, 25 minutes
[22:31] Speaker 1: because when he plays 35 minutes, the ball stops with
[22:36] Speaker 1: him because they start trying to feed him in the post.
[22:39] Speaker 1: He's not a very good paint player. And he wants
[22:43] Speaker 1: to shoot threes. By the way, he made four out
[22:45] Speaker 1: of five threes in these three games. And they've made 38%.
[22:50] Speaker 1: So they're just shooting the lights out against these guys.
[22:53] Speaker 1: But mainly, they've intimidated them. They broke their aura. They
[22:57] Speaker 1: shattered Oklahoma City's confidence. They just look lost against the
[23:02] Speaker 1: Spurs because the Spurs are just... Not only are they better,
[23:06] Speaker 1: I think they're way better. They're arriving right before your
[23:10] Speaker 1: very eyes. I know you guys have gone back and
[23:12] Speaker 1: forth about rivalry, but right now it's a one-sided rivalry,
[23:16] Speaker 1: it looks like to me, because Oklahoma City's not... holding
[23:19] Speaker 1: up its end of the bargain anymore.
[23:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't have a chance this season unless they
[23:24] Speaker 2: meet in the playoffs to redeem that. Yeah.
[23:25] Speaker 5: Because they got one more game. I think two more games. Oh,
[23:29] Speaker 5: because the end cup doesn't count. So they got five
[23:31] Speaker 5: total games. So five, so they played just one.
[23:33] Speaker 1: They got time to write, get.
[23:35] Speaker 2: The next two.
[23:35] Speaker 5: Like January 13th, I think is the next game. Yeah,
[23:38] Speaker 5: so I told Rashad, oh, I see it. And they
[23:39] Speaker 5: guarding these boys off the bus.
[23:41] Speaker 2: Yes, they are.
[23:42] Speaker 5: My exact message, when you said they guarding, I take
[23:45] Speaker 5: it as, they are.
[23:46] Speaker 2: Guarding them dudes off the bus.
[23:48] Speaker 1: My God.
[23:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, they're not afraid. I just want to, like, when
[23:52] Speaker 2: you're on a minute restriction, like, and the injury, I
[23:59] Speaker 2: understand it's a rhythm thing now because the starters are
[24:01] Speaker 2: in a rhythm.
[24:04] Speaker 5: But, yeah, it's time to get this dude back in
[24:06] Speaker 5: the lineup. He still plays 23, 25 minutes.
[24:09] Speaker 2: Still keeping him postseason award eligible. That's what it is.
[24:13] Speaker 5: I think Skip was definitely fucking cooking with no grease
[24:17] Speaker 5: just now, right? And when you say that, you've got
[24:21] Speaker 5: to think about the dynamics of what he means when
[24:23] Speaker 5: Wimby's coming off the bench and the record and how
[24:25] Speaker 5: it reflects that.
[24:26] Speaker 2: It reminds me of Ginobili. Yeah, that's a good one.
[24:29] Speaker 5: We were talking about De'Aaron Fox or Harper being one
[24:32] Speaker 5: of the Ginobili brands, and it's like it makes sense.
[24:35] Speaker 5: And I don't think Wimby has a problem with it
[24:37] Speaker 5: right now because his focus is winning. And the team dynamic,
[24:40] Speaker 5: the team chemistry with him coming off the bench– Like
[24:43] Speaker 5: you said, The explosiveness, the detonation of him coming in
[24:47] Speaker 5: and knowing how to change the game with what's missing
[24:51] Speaker 5: in the game at the moment. You let Cornette set
[24:54] Speaker 5: the tone. What's going to happen here? Are we being
[24:57] Speaker 5: taken advantage of on the offensive glass? Are we handling
[25:00] Speaker 5: the defensive glass? Are we getting stops? Are we smoking
[25:04] Speaker 5: our pot? So if we are doing what we're supposed
[25:07] Speaker 5: to be doing when he comes in, he gets to
[25:10] Speaker 5: be comfortable not having pressure on him. He's a pressure
[25:13] Speaker 5: release guy now. And think about what your pressure release
[25:16] Speaker 5: guy is if he's 7'4, can shoot the three, can dribble,
[25:19] Speaker 5: can block everything down there. Like, that's a hell of
[25:22] Speaker 5: a fucking pressure release. We've never seen anything like that specifically.
[25:27] Speaker 5: So I like this approach for them.
[25:29] Speaker 1: I love it.
[25:29] Speaker 2: And to piggyback on what y'all are saying, right, it,
[25:34] Speaker 2: Wimby is, he's a security blanket, right? So him not
[25:39] Speaker 2: being out there with the starters, it forces them to
[25:44] Speaker 2: defend on the ball back. It does. Right?
[25:46] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[25:47] Speaker 2: It forces, because you don't have that, oh, shit, hey. Yeah.
[25:50] Speaker 1: Hey!
[25:50] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[25:51] Speaker 2: Big fella back there. Like, you don't, you're more lax
[25:55] Speaker 2: at times than you would make that extra slide than you, like,
[26:00] Speaker 2: I'm going to cut you one and two off. You
[26:03] Speaker 2: got to go to three to get by me.
[26:04] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[26:04] Speaker 5: Most of the time, you make two, you're like.
[26:07] Speaker 2: Shit, big fella back there.
[26:08] Speaker 1: Yeah. Right?
[26:08] Speaker 2: Big fella clean that up. But it forces them guys
[26:11] Speaker 2: to be better on the ball. So, yeah, no, man.
[26:13] Speaker 4: When the game ends, he going to be out there.
[26:16] Speaker 1: No, he will.
[26:17] Speaker 2: He will.
[26:18] Speaker 4: You just got to accept that shit. You know what
[26:20] Speaker 4: I'm saying? It's what's better for the team.
[26:22] Speaker 2: Right now.
[26:22] Speaker 1: Right now.
[26:23] Speaker 5: Spurs have won the last three times with Wimby on
[26:25] Speaker 5: a minutes restriction all three of those games.
[26:27] Speaker 1: It gets scary.
[26:28] Speaker 2: It's scary.
[26:28] Speaker 5: Now, if he increases that workload, increases those minutes for
[26:31] Speaker 5: these next two games, does that change?
[26:33] Speaker 2: Does it change his production, though? That's the thing. You
[26:35] Speaker 2: don't want it to change his production. So, maybe he
[26:37] Speaker 2: can only play 25 minutes a night at the highest peak.
[26:40] Speaker 2: Maybe he gasses out and you can only, maybe that's
[26:44] Speaker 2: his thing. Maybe because his size and.
[26:46] Speaker 1: Maybe they don't have it going for him. I had
[26:50] Speaker 1: this rule for 20 years. Don't draft American seven-footers in
[26:54] Speaker 1: the lottery because they're going to bust on you. And
[26:57] Speaker 1: Luke Cornett is not a bust. Like, he's decent.
[27:02] Speaker 2: He's reasonable.
[27:03] Speaker 1: He can hold his own. I mean, he's averaging like eight, seven,
[27:07] Speaker 1: and two blocks a game. I mean, so they're okay.
[27:12] Speaker 1: All right. Yeah. Seven footers are going to do what? Bust.
[27:16] Speaker 2: There's a lot of, yeah. There's a lot of, whoa.
[27:20] Speaker 2: They're going to do what? They're going to bust.
[27:23] Speaker 7: No, we get what you're saying.
[27:26] Speaker 2: We're low on my heart here on this couch.
[27:28] Speaker 4: It's just where you said they were going to bust.
[27:30] Speaker 2: Yeah. What's that?
[27:33] Speaker 4: Just where you said they was going.
[27:34] Speaker 1: Yeah. I got it. But you can't. For years and years,
[27:39] Speaker 1: you just couldn't trust American seven-footers in the lottery. You
[27:43] Speaker 1: go back and look. And all of a sudden, Luke Cornett...
[27:46] Speaker 1: He's pretty good, and they like playing with him. And
[27:49] Speaker 1: he can block shots so they have a good one-two.
[27:52] Speaker 1: You know what? He's about as good as Chet is.
[27:55] Speaker 1: That's the truth.
[27:56] Speaker 2: No, for sure.
[27:56] Speaker 5: Him in Arkansas, Cornette is good as Chet.
[28:00] Speaker 7: Let me tell you what he's in the ballpark.
[28:03] Speaker 2: How much is he averaging? Listen, stats aside.
[28:06] Speaker 1: He is a champion.
[28:07] Speaker 5: But hold on. Stats aside, Cornette. What did Cornette do
[28:11] Speaker 5: for the Boston Celtics?
[28:13] Speaker 2: I'm with it.
[28:14] Speaker 5: What he did for the Boston Celtics is similar to
[28:17] Speaker 5: what I've seen Nick Collison do at Kansas. The things
[28:21] Speaker 5: that he can do are overlooked for real hoopers. When
[28:24] Speaker 5: you watch Cornette play, we're talking about the substitution pattern
[28:28] Speaker 5: for San Antonio. When Cornette's in and they sub Wimby out,
[28:31] Speaker 5: like you said, you got to force those guys to
[28:33] Speaker 5: guard more. Now we're more in shell defense. We're more
[28:38] Speaker 5: into we know we got to help recover. You got
[28:40] Speaker 5: to come over, show your body, and he can block shots.
[28:44] Speaker 5: He can actually block shots, and he loves to rebound.
[28:46] Speaker 5: The only difference is he's not 7'4. He's not overly athletic,
[28:51] Speaker 5: but he understands how to play the game. And that's
[28:54] Speaker 5: what I loved about him in Boston. When I picked Boston,
[28:57] Speaker 5: I was like, look, we got Cornette. We got Horford.
[29:01] Speaker 5: We got– We got Jalen Brown and fucking Jason Tatum,
[29:05] Speaker 5: but all we need is somebody that can be a presence.
[29:08] Speaker 5: And he reminded me like an old school Kevin McHale
[29:10] Speaker 5: type where he was.
[29:11] Speaker 2: Just in there.
[29:12] Speaker 1: He wasn't overly.
[29:13] Speaker 2: Athletic, but he knew where to be. He knew how
[29:15] Speaker 2: to be a presence.
[29:17] Speaker 5: And now, full circle, when you just said that about
[29:20] Speaker 5: the American centers, it does make sense because we have,
[29:25] Speaker 5: we've perpetuated this expectation for American centers to be all-time
[29:28] Speaker 5: greats when they come out. And when you look at
[29:31] Speaker 5: college and how they form these American centers they're not
[29:35] Speaker 5: being formed to be great. They're formed to be role players.
[29:38] Speaker 5: They're formed to go in and know exactly what to do.
[29:41] Speaker 5: The last one that I really see, and he was
[29:43] Speaker 5: not really American, is like Joel Embiid. Joel Embiid, when
[29:46] Speaker 5: he was there, he was a real center. Anthony Davis,
[29:50] Speaker 5: Carl Anthony Towns, they didn't play long enough in college
[29:53] Speaker 5: for us to say, well, they're going to be all-time
[29:55] Speaker 5: great centers.
[29:56] Speaker 2: They're turning out to be such.
[29:58] Speaker 1: I'm just talking about white guys.
[30:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, white.
[30:00] Speaker 1: We've been thinking that.
[30:01] Speaker 2: It's white guys. I mean, yeah, that makes sense.
[30:04] Speaker 5: Zach Eadie, he's not necessarily American, but he's one of
[30:07] Speaker 5: those guys you'd be like, well, he knows how to play.
[30:10] Speaker 2: You don't see him being an.
[30:11] Speaker 1: All-time great right now, but when.
[30:13] Speaker 2: You put him in the game, him and Lou Cornette
[30:16] Speaker 2: next to each other, you're like, hey, these motherfuckers know
[30:17] Speaker 2: how to play.
[30:18] Speaker 1: That is true.
[30:19] Speaker 2: So, Kane, I got a question for you.
[30:21] Speaker 3: So after the Spurs eliminated the Thunder in the NBA Cup,
[30:24] Speaker 3: you said you wouldn't even start to consider this a
[30:25] Speaker 3: rivalry unless the Spurs could win their next two games
[30:27] Speaker 3: against the Thunder convincingly. They did that, putting the proverbial
[30:30] Speaker 3: belt to OKC's ass with an average margin of victory
[30:34] Speaker 3: of nearly 18 points. So can we officially call the
[30:36] Speaker 3: Spurs and Thunder a rivalry? They haven't beat them yet,
[30:39] Speaker 3: so no. So you're going to beat them in the
[30:41] Speaker 3: playoffs for you to? Yeah, I just don't think it's
[30:43] Speaker 3: a rivalry yet. Once they play in the playoffs, like
[30:46] Speaker 3: the Spurs are making a name for themselves, absolutely. Like
[30:50] Speaker 3: I said, I think rivalries are made in the playoffs.
[30:53] Speaker 3: That's just my opinion.
[30:54] Speaker 2: I think once you see a team in the playoffs
[30:56] Speaker 2: and you play a long, grueling series and you meet
[31:01] Speaker 2: again and you two up-and-coming teams, I think it's a rivalry.
[31:05] Speaker 2: San Antonio is kicking their ass right now.
[31:07] Speaker 4: So who OKC robbery?
[31:08] Speaker 2: They don't have one. San Antonio. That's what I say.
[31:10] Speaker 2: They got it. San Antonio. They're eating it right now.
[31:13] Speaker 2: They're curating it, but it's not there yet. When I
[31:15] Speaker 2: show up and I say, fuck you. Yeah, I agree
[31:17] Speaker 2: with you. You say what?
[31:19] Speaker 4: And me ask the champ, once I say, these motherfuckers
[31:23] Speaker 4: better than us.
[31:24] Speaker 2: No, we showing up every time.
[31:25] Speaker 1: It's one-sided right now.
[31:26] Speaker 2: I'm getting my team right. That's what really I'm doing mentally.
[31:29] Speaker 1: Hey, they better than us.
[31:30] Speaker 2: It's one-sided right now.
[31:31] Speaker 5: But it's still a rivalry, though, because when we show up,
[31:34] Speaker 5: we know that there is nobody else in this league.
[31:37] Speaker 2: San Antonio treating it as such.
[31:38] Speaker 5: We have to, but y'all... They have to now. They
[31:42] Speaker 5: have to now, but we'll see how the next two
[31:45] Speaker 5: games go. If they come out and smack them, if
[31:48] Speaker 5: San Antonio come out and beat them the next two
[31:50] Speaker 5: games as.
[31:50] Speaker 2: Well, it's not a fucking ride.
[31:52] Speaker 5: When I challenge you to a duel and I say,
[31:54] Speaker 5: let's go outside, let's take these 10 paces, what you
[31:56] Speaker 5: gonna say?
[31:57] Speaker 2: I'm going to take nine. No?
[31:58] Speaker 1: You're going to say no?
[31:59] Speaker 2: I'm going to take nine.
[32:00] Speaker 5: You're going to have to do, but you have to
[32:02] Speaker 5: show up. When we ready to duel, you have to
[32:05] Speaker 5: show up. I'm challenging you.
[32:07] Speaker 1: To a duel. Let's go.
[32:09] Speaker 5: Turn your back. Let's take these ten paces. No matter
[32:11] Speaker 5: when you turn around and shoot. I'm calling you out
[32:15] Speaker 5: in front of the whole town.
[32:16] Speaker 1: I dig it. What's up?
[32:18] Speaker 5: Every time we come to town, where he at? SGA,
[32:21] Speaker 5: get your ass out here.
[32:22] Speaker 2: But he didn't die every time, so it ain't no rivalry. Yeah. Hey,
[32:26] Speaker 2: you got nine lives.
[32:27] Speaker 1: We got eight more of these motherfuckers.
[32:28] Speaker 2: He didn't die every time so far. Hey, come out
[32:32] Speaker 2: with your armor on next time, nigga. Yeah, I just
[32:34] Speaker 2: don't think rivalry is happening until the playoffs. Okay.
[32:36] Speaker 1: Yeah. And may I add?
[32:38] Speaker 2: Like I said, I think right now, to what we
[32:40] Speaker 2: were talking about the other day, I think Denver is
[32:43] Speaker 2: a closer rivalry than San Antonio because they played seven games.
[32:47] Speaker 1: They did.
[32:47] Speaker 2: And it's a possibility for them to win again. And
[32:49] Speaker 2: they're both champions. And they both. So that's my thing.
[32:51] Speaker 2: I think they're closer than that. But San Antonio, they
[32:55] Speaker 2: own fucking Oklahoma City's heels in that regard of being.
[32:58] Speaker 2: But right now, they just kicking Oklahoma City ass. They
[33:02] Speaker 2: got their number. They confident. They defending them. They not
[33:06] Speaker 2: letting them run in transition. They doing everything that other
[33:09] Speaker 2: teams hadn't done. To them. And they got the goddamn number.
[33:13] Speaker 1: And we haven't even mentioned a key player for the
[33:17] Speaker 1: Spurs now. De'Aaron Fox last year was voted the clutchest
[33:21] Speaker 1: player in the NBA. He is a closer. He is
[33:25] Speaker 1: a Laker killer. Just a killer. Just wears them out
[33:29] Speaker 1: in any big game or playoff game or whatever. And
[33:33] Speaker 1: he's now a San Antonio Spur. And... He scored 29
[33:38] Speaker 1: yesterday because they just couldn't stop him. And he contributed
[33:42] Speaker 1: nothing in the first two of these three games. And
[33:44] Speaker 1: then yesterday, all of a sudden.
[33:48] Speaker 1: At Oklahoma City, how are you going to overcome 29
[33:50] Speaker 1: from him when Wimby's playing angry against Chet? And Stephon
[33:54] Speaker 1: Castle is a freaking star. It's too much firepower because,
[34:01] Speaker 1: in the end, Oklahoma City, as much as I like J-Dub,
[34:05] Speaker 1: he made the all-star team, but he's still... He's just
[34:08] Speaker 1: a role player. He's just a very good role player.
[34:10] Speaker 1: They got a bunch of good role players, and they
[34:12] Speaker 1: have the MVP. And when San Antonio says MVP can't
[34:16] Speaker 1: MVP anymore, now what you got? You got nothing. And
[34:20] Speaker 1: they got De'Aaron Fox scoring 29. Mid-range. He's sweet, man.
[34:25] Speaker 2: Sweet.
[34:26] Speaker 1: He just... All right, well, let's keep this thing moving.
[34:29] Speaker 3: One last thing to talk about before we move on,
[34:31] Speaker 3: but Wimby's quickly brought back Spurs culture in his two-plus
[34:34] Speaker 3: season in San Antonio. Now he's taking it to another level.
[34:37] Speaker 3: Wimby's been working with Spurs fans, specifically a diehard sec
[34:40] Speaker 3: known as the Jackals, on a new postgame celebration. So
[34:43] Speaker 3: Tuesday night, they unveiled it for the first time after
[34:46] Speaker 3: blowing out OKC.
[34:47] Speaker 2: Everybody spread your arms.
[34:49] Speaker 1: And do just like the Jackals. Nice, man. Nice, man.
[35:26] Speaker 3: It was interesting seeing Lou Cornette get on beat after
[35:29] Speaker 3: about the fourth or fifth.
[35:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, it took a while.
[35:32] Speaker 2: He's trying to watch. One, go. One, go.
[35:35] Speaker 3: Obviously, when we introduced it, there's been some criticism that
[35:38] Speaker 3: this is nothing but the Vikings' skull celebration.
[35:41] Speaker 2: That's it.
[35:42] Speaker 5: But it also, I think that originally from the Icelandic
[35:44] Speaker 5: national football team during their miraculous run to the UEFA
[35:47] Speaker 5: Euro 2016 quarterfinals.
[35:49] Speaker 3: So whatever it is, it is. He was working with
[35:51] Speaker 3: the Spurs fans on doing it. So, Keeb, how do
[35:53] Speaker 3: you feel about this new Spurs team? tradition that Wimby
[35:55] Speaker 3: worked with those fans on.
[35:56] Speaker 4: Hey, you plan on being a household name, you got
[36:00] Speaker 4: to have your shit. You got to have your thing.
[36:03] Speaker 2: That you do.
[36:04] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? Wimby a leader, he probably
[36:07] Speaker 4: won all kind of chips all his life.
[36:09] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[36:10] Speaker 4: He know we got to get something, get the fan
[36:12] Speaker 4: base too. We got to have the arena talking about
[36:15] Speaker 4: us in some type of form or fashion. Damn, you
[36:18] Speaker 4: get you something that's your shit.
[36:21] Speaker 2: Hey, man, I like it, man.
[36:22] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? We're going to see that
[36:24] Speaker 4: a lot more. You know what I'm saying? They're going
[36:25] Speaker 4: to win games. They're going to do that. They're going
[36:26] Speaker 4: to get to the playoffs. They're going to win games.
[36:28] Speaker 4: They're going to do their, what's that shit called? I
[36:30] Speaker 4: call it the scar. The drum line. The drum line.
[36:33] Speaker 4: We're going to see that a lot more. You know
[36:35] Speaker 4: what I'm saying? They're going to start making that game.
[36:36] Speaker 1: I'm banging it.
[36:37] Speaker 4: They win the game. You see that shit. You know
[36:39] Speaker 4: what I'm saying? So I like it, man. Trying to
[36:41] Speaker 4: establish themselves as a dominant team in the league. You
[36:45] Speaker 4: know what I'm saying?
[36:45] Speaker 2: Kane, how do you feel about the celebration? No, I
[36:47] Speaker 2: like it, because if you go to a lot of
[36:49] Speaker 2: NFL stadiums, their crowd, they have their chants and different
[36:53] Speaker 2: things like that. I remember early on, I went to
[36:56] Speaker 2: a Jets game when I was with the Nets. And
[36:58] Speaker 2: then they went up here and the J-E-T-S, Jets, like
[37:02] Speaker 2: everybody in the stadium was doing.
[37:04] Speaker 1: I'm like.
[37:05] Speaker 2: Don't let them be winning. Yeah.
[37:06] Speaker 1: Don't let the Jets be a good team.
[37:08] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[37:08] Speaker 2: That shit really cracking. It's loud. Then going to Denver,
[37:11] Speaker 2: they got their thing out there. Then Minnesota. Then Pittsburgh
[37:14] Speaker 2: got the terrible tiles. And then you, Buffalo got their thing.
[37:17] Speaker 2: And then you go to Euro basketball, Euro League, some
[37:19] Speaker 2: of them countries. And it's rowdy in there. And that
[37:22] Speaker 2: gets the fans, keeps the fans involved. So I dig it.
[37:25] Speaker 1: It's dope. Mm-hmm. Y'all rolling with the Spurs?
[37:28] Speaker 5: Man, hey.
[37:31] Speaker 2: No Cleveland.
[37:32] Speaker 5: You going to quit talking? Hey, man, y'all listen. Don't
[37:34] Speaker 5: worry about that, man. You know, he need all the
[37:37] Speaker 5: points he can get. That man be miserable at home.
[37:40] Speaker 5: He is miserable. That man the most miserable, man. He
[37:43] Speaker 5: come in here fake smiling all the time. Since his
[37:46] Speaker 5: existence on this planet, hey, since his existence, Him being
[37:51] Speaker 5: from Cleveland, that shit has been a struggle.
[37:53] Speaker 2: Man, my homeboy. Marcus Collins is in Cleveland right now.
[37:57] Speaker 1: Absolutely.
[37:57] Speaker 2: In the snow life. Yo, and y'all got to deal
[38:00] Speaker 2: with that weather and Lake Erie.
[38:01] Speaker 1: Hey, listen, hey.
[38:03] Speaker 2: Shador.
[38:03] Speaker 1: Hey, listen, yo.
[38:05] Speaker 2: People been happy right now.
[38:06] Speaker 5: But I get it, but the dog pound, y'all been
[38:08] Speaker 5: struggling for years.
[38:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, y'all in the dog house. Y'all been in the
[38:11] Speaker 1: dog house.
[38:11] Speaker 4: That's the happiest the dog pound has been in a minute, boy.
[38:14] Speaker 2: They got Shador.
[38:15] Speaker 4: It's open in Cleveland.
[38:16] Speaker 2: Dog pound not pets. Y'all dogs, they chain y'all up
[38:19] Speaker 2: outside by the dog house. Yeah. I'll say this.
[38:22] Speaker 5: The sixth man is so important when you talk about
[38:25] Speaker 5: visiting teams coming into your house. You know, me playing Carolina,
[38:30] Speaker 5: the one thing that we were known for was being
[38:32] Speaker 5: a wine and cheese crowd. And when I got there,
[38:35] Speaker 5: I wanted to change that. First thing I did was
[38:37] Speaker 5: get y'all asses up. Every tip off get up everybody
[38:41] Speaker 5: get up and it turned our culture into a six-man
[38:45] Speaker 5: where everybody when we made our runs Man, you ain't
[38:49] Speaker 5: never heard a crowd as loud as the Smith Center
[38:52] Speaker 5: and you look at the the Warriors when they was
[38:57] Speaker 5: Mm-hmm the dream.
[38:58] Speaker 2: What is it?
[38:59] Speaker 1: We believe we believe warriors. Oh, they should and Come
[39:02] Speaker 1: on six, man.
[39:03] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
[39:04] Speaker 5: You talking about Sacramento six, man. Cowbell It's important to
[39:09] Speaker 5: go in and understand that your fans are more passionate
[39:12] Speaker 5: about the game even than you are They want it
[39:15] Speaker 5: more than you and then you talk about international Barcelona
[39:19] Speaker 5: Lebanon France, all of these different places where their fans
[39:24] Speaker 5: take it more seriously. The refs fuck up. We are
[39:28] Speaker 5: in the lobby waiting for it. refs as the fans. Like,
[39:31] Speaker 5: they vandalize cars and shit for the refs. So when
[39:36] Speaker 5: you look at six men and what Wimby's doing, this
[39:38] Speaker 5: is true leadership because he understands the dynamic of our
[39:42] Speaker 5: fans need to be behind us win, lose, or draw.
[39:45] Speaker 5: And I love that about him because he's not afraid.
[39:48] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[39:49] Speaker 5: Of whether it be criticism of him being too confident,
[39:52] Speaker 5: whether it be criticism of him being too up for
[39:56] Speaker 5: the moment. But you take the time out to get
[39:59] Speaker 5: the fans involved, knowing that you're the future of the franchise,
[40:03] Speaker 5: that's not something Tim Duncan ever did. That's not something
[40:06] Speaker 5: a lot of these great players ever truly took the
[40:08] Speaker 5: time out to do. And I love that about him
[40:10] Speaker 5: and his culture. They're young personalities.
[40:14] Speaker 1: I was amazed that Victor Wimbanyama... took that vocal of
[40:18] Speaker 1: a leadership role, that out front, that face of franchise
[40:22] Speaker 1: kind of a role to completely change their culture. And
[40:26] Speaker 1: it said to me that Duncan Parker and Ginobili are finally,
[40:31] Speaker 1: so to speak, gone forever. Like they've started over and
[40:36] Speaker 1: it's going to become a tradition. They're going to be
[40:40] Speaker 1: very difficult to beat at home now because they're going
[40:42] Speaker 1: to want to do that and look forward to it
[40:44] Speaker 1: after every game. And, I'm going to be surprised if
[40:50] Speaker 1: they lose another home game this year, given that. Hey, Mr.
[40:54] Speaker 2: Bay, I hear you, but, hey, Tim and them got
[40:58] Speaker 2: five of them things hanging up there.
[41:00] Speaker 1: No, I know that. But they need it. Going forever?
[41:03] Speaker 1: They need it to start over.
[41:04] Speaker 2: They definitely start over. They need a fresh start.
[41:07] Speaker 5: They got five of them things hanging up there.
[41:09] Speaker 1: By the way, they should have six of those things.
[41:11] Speaker 1: That's a whole other story.
[41:12] Speaker 2: I don't care, but, yeah, I was a victim of
[41:14] Speaker 2: one of them.
[41:15] Speaker 8: Yeah?
[41:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, so, but.
[41:19] Speaker 3: Let's keep this thing moving because we've got a lot
[41:21] Speaker 3: more to discuss. The first game of the Christmas slate
[41:23] Speaker 3: featured two preseason Eastern Conference favorites. with the Cavs pulling
[41:27] Speaker 3: up to the Garden to take on the Knicks. New York, yeah,
[41:30] Speaker 3: we did this for you. That's why I knew you
[41:32] Speaker 3: had something to say about the Cavs in the first segment,
[41:34] Speaker 3: so now.
[41:34] Speaker 2: We were talking about this. Yeah, to talk about Cleveland.
[41:36] Speaker 3: New York has lived up to the hype so far,
[41:37] Speaker 3: but the Cavs have been struggling as of late, what
[41:39] Speaker 3: some may call a hot pack of mid. Seventh in
[41:42] Speaker 3: the East, five and eight in their last 13 games
[41:44] Speaker 3: entering this one. Cavs look poised to take a bite
[41:46] Speaker 3: out of the Big Apple, but Jalen Brunson and the
[41:48] Speaker 3: Knicks bench guided their sleigh to save the day. Can
[41:51] Speaker 3: we get those highlights, please? So we pick up the
[41:54] Speaker 3: action in the fourth quarter. where the Knicks were cruising
[41:57] Speaker 3: with a 17-point lead with a little over 10 minutes remaining.
[42:01] Speaker 3: Donovan Mitchell paced Cleveland with 34 points, seven boards, six dimes,
[42:04] Speaker 3: and four steals, his 17th 30-point game of the season.
[42:06] Speaker 3: Darius Garland, 20 and 10 dimes. The Cavs were preying
[42:09] Speaker 3: on the Knicks' downfall, but every time they hit the ground,
[42:11] Speaker 3: they bounced up like round ball. Jordan Clarkson had 25
[42:14] Speaker 3: off the bench, including 14 points in his first 15
[42:17] Speaker 3: first-half minutes. And seven in the fourth quarter, Tyler Kolek
[42:22] Speaker 3: caught fire hitting four threes in the final frame. He
[42:24] Speaker 3: had 16 and nine assists in 25 minutes of action,
[42:27] Speaker 3: while Mitchell Robinson had eight of his 13 rebounds in
[42:29] Speaker 3: his five fourth quarter minutes, including four on the offensive glass.
[42:32] Speaker 3: And the captain, Jalen Brunson, another monster game, scoring 13
[42:35] Speaker 3: of his game, high tying 34 points in the fourth quarter.
[42:40] Speaker 3: As we see him cooking right there without grease, as
[42:45] Speaker 3: they say. The Cavs tried to hold on to the lead,
[42:48] Speaker 3: but Kolek, like we said, was doing his thing. Mikael
[42:55] Speaker 3: Bridges gave the Knicks the lead, Cavs took it back,
[42:57] Speaker 3: and then Brunson hit the go-ahead three with a little
[43:00] Speaker 3: over a minute remaining to put the Knicks up two.
[43:05] Speaker 3: And then Catt came through with this putback. We'll put
[43:08] Speaker 3: them up four. The Knicks held on. Yeah, we do
[43:15] Speaker 3: have to show that. But it was Over at this point,
[43:18] Speaker 3: OG sealed the game. 12 seconds remaining. Donovan Mitchell did
[43:24] Speaker 3: hit this three, but inconsequential to the outcome. So Knicks
[43:29] Speaker 3: held on to get their third straight Christmas win. Largest
[43:33] Speaker 3: comeback this season. So we look at the story of
[43:36] Speaker 3: this game. Cavs jumped out to a 15-point first quarter lead.
[43:38] Speaker 3: Knicks responded by outscoring them 37-20 in the second quarter.
[43:42] Speaker 3: Cleveland goes up 17 early in the fourth quarter. Knicks
[43:44] Speaker 3: respond by finishing the final frame with a 40-21 run
[43:48] Speaker 3: So what are the biggest takeaways from the Knicks Christmas
[43:50] Speaker 3: Day win.
[43:51] Speaker 1: Over the Cavs?
[43:54] Speaker 3: We'll start with you. Is your current team Knicks Spurs? No,
[43:59] Speaker 3: remember I told you. We don't do the thumbs up
[44:01] Speaker 3: and all that shit.
[44:02] Speaker 1: The thumbs up?
[44:03] Speaker 2: I had to get away.
[44:04] Speaker 1: It hurt me. Throw your thumbs up in the chat.
[44:06] Speaker 5: It hurt me to have to just go Spurs only
[44:10] Speaker 5: because I do need an East Coast team, but watching
[44:14] Speaker 5: that game, I just couldn't cheer as much as I
[44:17] Speaker 5: wanted to.
[44:19] Speaker 2: Because of Josh Hart specifically. But on the hoop side...
[44:26] Speaker 2: No oil tracks and baskets. On the hoop side... Nah,
[44:28] Speaker 2: he's doing that.
[44:30] Speaker 5: On the hoop side, I gotta really say that the
[44:32] Speaker 5: Knicks showed up. I love Kolek's energy. His resilience to
[44:37] Speaker 5: keep going and fighting. They got down early. I think
[44:41] Speaker 5: the Cleveland Cavaliers might be the most overrated team in
[44:43] Speaker 5: the last five years.
[44:45] Speaker 2: Every year they come in, they look good. But... They
[44:48] Speaker 2: show their true colors.
[44:49] Speaker 5: After a while, Allen and Mobley just don't have the
[44:54] Speaker 5: same pop that they used to have. Garland, he looks
[44:57] Speaker 5: like he's back, but he's really don't got his mojo,
[44:59] Speaker 5: his confidence like he did in his all-star season. Mitchell
[45:03] Speaker 5: going to be Mitchell. I think he's always playing in
[45:05] Speaker 5: the wrong city. I think he just needs to get
[45:07] Speaker 5: to a new team totally because leading this team to
[45:11] Speaker 5: the promised land, the way that they play is just
[45:14] Speaker 5: not good enough. And I think they've proven that. But
[45:17] Speaker 5: for the Knicks, You got OG playing well. You got
[45:21] Speaker 5: Clarkson playing well. Brunson is going to be Brunson. You know,
[45:24] Speaker 5: I think at this point, you can't say size is
[45:26] Speaker 5: the problem with a guy like that leading the team
[45:29] Speaker 5: to the playoffs, second in the East. I think he's
[45:32] Speaker 5: always going to be dynamic. Mikael Bridges is going to
[45:35] Speaker 5: have to always step up to the plate. And, you know,
[45:37] Speaker 5: Carl Anthony Towns, he's one of the guys that's always
[45:40] Speaker 5: going to be an anomaly, yet he has a backup.
[45:44] Speaker 5: His backup, Mitchell Robinson, I believe is the one MVP
[45:48] Speaker 5: outside of Colick on that team.
[45:50] Speaker 7: He is the energy. He does things that he doesn't
[45:52] Speaker 7: get credit for, and he knows it.
[45:54] Speaker 5: He's out there. He's a presence. Offensive glass, defensive glass.
[45:57] Speaker 5: He blocks shots. He's just a dynamic player. I always
[46:00] Speaker 5: wanted to give him the flowers he deserves. And Mike Brown,
[46:05] Speaker 5: he's being patient. He's doing what he's supposed to do.
[46:08] Speaker 5: I love the dynamic around New York right now. I'm
[46:10] Speaker 5: just glad that Tracy Morgan didn't throw up again.
[46:13] Speaker 3: Like you said, Mitchell Robinson, zero points in that game,
[46:17] Speaker 3: but was huge in that fourth quarter. Everybody who watched
[46:19] Speaker 3: the game coming through with all those big rebounds. They
[46:21] Speaker 3: subbed him out for Cat with like three minutes to go.
[46:23] Speaker 2: I didn't want that. The energy kind of touched it
[46:25] Speaker 2: a little bit.
[46:26] Speaker 1: Like watching, like, ooh, I don't know.
[46:27] Speaker 5: They got to bring Cat back in, though. He does
[46:31] Speaker 5: different things that Mitchell can't do.
[46:33] Speaker 3: I think they got a putback right on that. The
[46:35] Speaker 3: Cavs got a putback right when they made that substitution.
[46:37] Speaker 3: But just watching that, feeling that. So Skip, watching that game,
[46:39] Speaker 3: what are your biggest takeaways from the Knicks in their
[46:42] Speaker 3: third straight Christmas win?
[46:44] Speaker 1: My biggest takeaway is that the Cavs were up 17
[46:47] Speaker 1: with 10.5 minutes left.
[46:47] Speaker 2: 17?
[46:48] Speaker 1: And the Knicks go on a 40-21 run to close
[46:49] Speaker 1: that game. 40-21? Yeah. Against that team that I thought
[47:00] Speaker 1: was one of the top defensive teams in the league.
[47:02] Speaker 1: But to your point, the two big guys haven't shown
[47:05] Speaker 1: up regularly lately. And I guess I got to stand
[47:11] Speaker 1: up for the little white guys, but you mentioned Tyler Kolick.
[47:15] Speaker 1: But he just came out of nowhere. He was the
[47:17] Speaker 1: Big East player of the year at Marquette. And he
[47:20] Speaker 1: was the most outstanding player at the Big East tournament
[47:22] Speaker 1: his last year. So they take him in the second round.
[47:25] Speaker 1: He does nothing last year. He's starting to change the
[47:28] Speaker 1: way they play because he kind of settles them down.
[47:31] Speaker 1: Let's Brunson just play two guard, you know, just do
[47:33] Speaker 1: what he does. And Tyler Kolek, you mentioned it, Josiah,
[47:38] Speaker 1: made big shots in the fourth quarter. You're showing in
[47:41] Speaker 1: the highlights, made three big threes down the stretch. But
[47:45] Speaker 1: the play of the game, he made it. and it's
[47:47] Speaker 1: a breakaway by Donovan Mitchell, and Kolick was asked about
[47:52] Speaker 1: what happened, and he said, well, if he just shot
[47:54] Speaker 1: a regular, I'm quoting him, he said, if he just
[47:55] Speaker 1: shot a regular layup, I wouldn't have gotten there, but
[47:58] Speaker 1: he tried to do a dipsy-do, you know, he was
[47:59] Speaker 1: going to do the big throw-down dunk, and Kolick caught
[48:03] Speaker 1: him and blocked it, and that would have put Cleveland
[48:06] Speaker 1: up three with a minute and 46 seconds left, and
[48:09] Speaker 1: it just changed the game, because it swung the momentum
[48:12] Speaker 1: even harder to the home team, so... Jordan Clarkson is
[48:18] Speaker 1: just a natural born scorer to me, and he had
[48:21] Speaker 1: 25 in this game, and Cat just does Cat things,
[48:24] Speaker 1: and Jalen does Jalen things, so I've texted over the
[48:28] Speaker 1: last couple of years with Spike Lee about this, love
[48:30] Speaker 1: you Spike, and This is our year, this is our year,
[48:34] Speaker 1: but this year when he texts me on Christmas, he's saying,
[48:37] Speaker 1: let's wait and see this year, which told me he
[48:41] Speaker 1: loves this team even more because I think he's thinking,
[48:43] Speaker 1: I don't have to do phony false bravado here, like
[48:47] Speaker 1: phony rah-rah. This team is legitimately... authentic to me where
[48:53] Speaker 1: it's got a chance and by the way we didn't
[48:55] Speaker 1: even mention this in our first topic but but they
[48:58] Speaker 1: did win the cup and they did beat the Spurs
[49:00] Speaker 1: and they out rebounded them 59 to 42 in the
[49:04] Speaker 1: cup championship game I think they caught San Antonio like
[49:07] Speaker 1: San Antonio had already celebrated the cup right against Oklahoma
[49:11] Speaker 1: City that's that's what they wanted but they weren't ready
[49:14] Speaker 1: for this but do I think the Spurs could beat
[49:16] Speaker 1: the Knicks in seven games I definitely do I would
[49:19] Speaker 1: take the Spurs seven over the Knicks. But the Knicks,
[49:23] Speaker 1: this was un-Knick-like. This was the kind of game the
[49:27] Speaker 1: Knicks would have lost by 30 at home on Christmas
[49:29] Speaker 1: Day in the past.
[49:30] Speaker 2: Yes, for sure. I agree.
[49:33] Speaker 1: I like the Knicks.
[49:34] Speaker 4: I like what they got going. I like how they built.
[49:36] Speaker 4: They got a great starting five. Three goons coming off
[49:39] Speaker 4: that bench, man. I just like how they built. I
[49:42] Speaker 4: like their leader. You know what I'm saying? Brunson going
[49:44] Speaker 4: to get you buckets.
[49:46] Speaker 2: He does.
[49:46] Speaker 4: I like their overall makeup of their team, man. Cleveland,
[49:50] Speaker 4: they just not built. Like, even their stars, I barely know.
[49:54] Speaker 4: I don't watch too much basketball during football season. I start, like,
[49:57] Speaker 4: February through June.
[49:58] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[49:59] Speaker 1: Yep.
[50:00] Speaker 4: But I just don't know nobody on their fucking team. Like,
[50:03] Speaker 4: who is these guys?
[50:03] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
[50:04] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[50:06] Speaker 1: Donovan Mitchell does.
[50:07] Speaker 4: Mitchell going to get buckets. Of course I know Mitchell.
[50:13] Speaker 2: I know Garland.
[50:14] Speaker 1: I know Garland.
[50:16] Speaker 4: I know Garland. I know Mitchell. The other guy, I'm like,
[50:19] Speaker 4: how much money they make? I got to Google and see.
[50:21] Speaker 4: Is he one of the guys or not? Like, I
[50:23] Speaker 4: don't know.
[50:24] Speaker 2: Lonzo Balls up.
[50:26] Speaker 4: He on the team.
[50:26] Speaker 5: He on the team.
[50:29] Speaker 2: He on the team.
[50:30] Speaker 1: It's Charlotte. Jell-O brothers. Jell-O brothers.
[50:32] Speaker 4: I don't know. It's just Cleveland just, that last year's
[50:35] Speaker 4: shit just a one-off, man. They a six, seventh, eighth.
[50:40] Speaker 4: That's where they at. They make up what a team
[50:43] Speaker 4: is bottom half of the East to me. Middle, bottom
[50:46] Speaker 4: half of the playoff teams. A six, seventh, barely making
[50:49] Speaker 4: the eighth playing type. That's just, that's they speed to me, man.
[50:54] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[50:56] Speaker 4: I love Spider, I love his game on offense, but
[50:59] Speaker 4: his game to me just don't really translate to wins.
[51:02] Speaker 4: Like there's some guys who, Like, lead. Where I go,
[51:06] Speaker 4: we win. I go to Kansas, they trash. Next thing
[51:09] Speaker 4: you know, we're in the Orange Bowl.
[51:10] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[51:11] Speaker 4: Every team I go to, it just so happens that
[51:13] Speaker 4: we fucking winning games.
[51:15] Speaker 1: Except Tampa Bay.
[51:16] Speaker 2: Even in Tampa.
[51:17] Speaker 4: Even in Tampa. Well, we tied for third. We 10-6
[51:22] Speaker 4: with this young guy. We should be in the playoffs.
[51:24] Speaker 1: You should have been.
[51:25] Speaker 2: You feel me?
[51:25] Speaker 4: It's a tie. We got to go to the gas
[51:26] Speaker 4: station and flip a coin to see who go. You
[51:28] Speaker 4: feel me? Before that, they was just trash. You know
[51:32] Speaker 4: what I'm saying?
[51:32] Speaker 2: So, I High school.
[51:35] Speaker 4: This shit go back to high school, Skip.
[51:36] Speaker 1: Richardson-Berkner.
[51:37] Speaker 4: Richardson-Berkner.
[51:38] Speaker 1: They're garbage.
[51:39] Speaker 4: When I get there, we lose to Carter in the playoffs.
[51:41] Speaker 2: Carter.
[51:42] Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? You feel me? Some guys'
[51:45] Speaker 4: games just translate to wins. Some guys' games don't.
[51:48] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Translate to stats.
[51:50] Speaker 4: Translate to stats. You know what I'm saying? I just
[51:54] Speaker 4: don't like what they got going in Cleveland, man. Your
[51:56] Speaker 4: best player game don't really translate to wins. my opinion.
[52:00] Speaker 1: Would it translate elsewhere, though, as Rashad suggested?
[52:03] Speaker 2: He was in Utah, now he's here. What was Utah doing, though?
[52:06] Speaker 1: Same thing.
[52:07] Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. It ain't really translated. Is it
[52:11] Speaker 5: the big city for him?
[52:12] Speaker 2: No. I'll start with Cleveland and Donovan Mitchell since that's
[52:16] Speaker 2: where we are right now, right? Then I go to
[52:18] Speaker 2: the Knicks. Who does Donovan Mitchell make better around him? Himself.
[52:25] Speaker 2: So he doesn't make the people around him better. That's
[52:30] Speaker 2: what it is. You can put him. I put him
[52:33] Speaker 2: in the same category. It's a few guys, right? They're
[52:36] Speaker 2: really good basketball players, but will it translates to wins?
[52:40] Speaker 2: Good point. You got Donovan Mitchell. You got Dame Lillard.
[52:43] Speaker 2: You got Devin Booker. You got certain guys that they
[52:46] Speaker 2: are really good. We'll be Hall of Fame when it's
[52:50] Speaker 2: all said and done. With the individual numbers, right? But
[52:56] Speaker 2: who do they make better? They make big shots. They're
[53:00] Speaker 2: going to score 30 a night.
[53:01] Speaker 4: It look great.
[53:02] Speaker 2: It look great. But who do they make better? And
[53:05] Speaker 2: I think that's Donovan Mitchell's problem. That when it gets tough,
[53:12] Speaker 2: I'm going to shoot it. Yeah. I get it, but
[53:16] Speaker 2: sometimes you got to get off of it.
[53:17] Speaker 5: What's the devil's advocate to that when you say, if
[53:20] Speaker 5: I'm Donovan asking you, how the fuck I.
[53:22] Speaker 2: Make these guys better?
[53:24] Speaker 5: Give me the blueprint of, I'm giving you the ball, motherfucker.
[53:28] Speaker 5: Put the bitch in the hole. I'm passing you the
[53:31] Speaker 5: ball when you open it. Eight out of ten times,
[53:32] Speaker 5: you shoot it.
[53:34] Speaker 7: I trust my shot more than I trust yours.
[53:36] Speaker 2: That's why they don't win. So talking about the Cavs
[53:39] Speaker 2: just a little bit.
[53:40] Speaker 1: Go ahead.
[53:40] Speaker 5: Then I'll let you jump back in. So last season
[53:42] Speaker 5: started with a franchise record 15 straight wins.
[53:44] Speaker 2: Whose goal?
[53:45] Speaker 5: 28-4 after their first 32 games last season. First in
[53:48] Speaker 5: the East, Fools going, and we talked about it in
[53:49] Speaker 5: the playoffs. Guys missing games when they could have played.
[53:53] Speaker 5: Sitting out in the playoff games, all that shit matter.
[53:56] Speaker 5: This season, 17-15 to their first 32 games.
[53:59] Speaker 2: 17-15 right now. To lead point. Yeah, I don't... I'm
[54:05] Speaker 2: not afraid of DeAndre Hunter. I don't fear Mobley. I
[54:10] Speaker 2: don't fear.
[54:13] Speaker 2: Jared Allen. Jared Allen. Their bench is what? To your
[54:16] Speaker 2: point about Oklahoma City, right?
[54:17] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[54:18] Speaker 2: What did Cleveland do in the offseason to get better?
[54:21] Speaker 5: They didn't do anything.
[54:24] Speaker 2: They didn't change shit. They didn't change shit. They had
[54:25] Speaker 2: Alonzo Ball, which you really don't expect to play him, really. Wade. Wade. Earl.
[54:30] Speaker 2: I don't bar none of them.
[54:33] Speaker 1: None of them.
[54:33] Speaker 2: They don't move it. So they come back with the
[54:36] Speaker 2: same look. To your point, Donovan Mitchell is going to
[54:40] Speaker 2: be who he is now. Can, like they were saying before,
[54:43] Speaker 2: can Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell coexist together? Can they?
[54:47] Speaker 2: And right now it's showing that they can't. So they
[54:50] Speaker 2: got to make some decisions with that. They're 17-15. Good
[54:53] Speaker 2: luck getting in the playoffs. Did they get in because
[54:55] Speaker 2: they're in the East?
[54:55] Speaker 7: 17-15.
[54:57] Speaker 2: So they'll get in because they're in the East.
[54:58] Speaker 1: Who's the point guard? I don't know. Neither one of them.
[55:01] Speaker 1: Neither one of them, right?
[55:02] Speaker 2: Neither one of them.
[55:03] Speaker 1: Not really.
[55:04] Speaker 2: They might have a PG next to his name, but
[55:05] Speaker 2: he's not.
[55:06] Speaker 1: What's the point guard today?
[55:08] Speaker 2: There's not one.
[55:09] Speaker 5: So, I mean, so can we say who's the point
[55:11] Speaker 5: guard when they're... Their offense is not predicated around running
[55:15] Speaker 5: a specific offense.
[55:17] Speaker 2: They're just who has the ball who brings it down.
[55:19] Speaker 2: Who's going to go pick and roll?
[55:21] Speaker 1: Who's going to run and pick and roll?
[55:23] Speaker 5: What matchup we going to try to explore to get
[55:25] Speaker 5: the weakest defender on us to try to explore?
[55:27] Speaker 2: We're playing pick up ball. So, yeah, until you start,
[55:30] Speaker 2: balls start moving, man, and guys are you trusting one
[55:32] Speaker 2: another and the thing is like, it ain't going to work.
[55:36] Speaker 2: With the Knicks... surprisingly, right now, well, not surprisingly, they
[55:42] Speaker 2: were expected to build on what they did last year, right?
[55:46] Speaker 2: They've been teetering first rounds, like, they've been there, but
[55:51] Speaker 2: you are expected to get better when you have a
[55:53] Speaker 2: talent like Jalen Brunson as your lead.
[55:56] Speaker 1: Well, Eastern Conference Finals, though.
[55:57] Speaker 2: But that's what I said, yeah, expected, so now, that's
[56:00] Speaker 2: what I'm saying, so the year before, they were, last year,
[56:05] Speaker 2: they befitted with the year before than last year, so it's,
[56:09] Speaker 2: it's steps. So they are in Nick's fans and in organization,
[56:12] Speaker 2: they are there.
[56:13] Speaker 1: Right.
[56:15] Speaker 2: With an ability to trade. Still can do something to eat,
[56:19] Speaker 2: to help.
[56:20] Speaker 1: Right.
[56:20] Speaker 2: If we really, but as constructed now, you know, I,
[56:27] Speaker 2: them in Detroit, I'm, it's a pick them right now.
[56:30] Speaker 2: If they went in a playoff series to me, but
[56:34] Speaker 2: The experience that the Knicks have and Jalen Brunson's experience,
[56:38] Speaker 2: Mike Brown's experience, I think goes a long way. Having
[56:44] Speaker 2: a guy like Jordan Clarkson, to your point, Sean, like
[56:46] Speaker 2: you've been saying for... for some time now, was a
[56:51] Speaker 2: great signing. I was a little skeptical on where he
[56:55] Speaker 2: was gonna fit in, because you got McBride over there
[56:58] Speaker 2: and you got other guys. I was a little skeptical.
[57:00] Speaker 2: He was shaky too. Yeah, but where Clark, where- McBride
[57:03] Speaker 2: been hurt too, but yeah, but- Yeah, like I said,
[57:04] Speaker 2: we needed a different voice. Like, you gotta tell me though,
[57:09] Speaker 2: it looks a certain way. It's a certain message and
[57:12] Speaker 2: you bring, just change the, just a little bit, right?
[57:16] Speaker 2: I still want you guys, that defensive mindset that Thibodeau had, this, that,
[57:20] Speaker 2: and the third, but I'm not going to wear you
[57:22] Speaker 2: guys out.
[57:22] Speaker 1: Right.
[57:23] Speaker 2: To your point, Skip, Kolek was there last year. He's
[57:25] Speaker 2: not going to play for Tibbs.
[57:27] Speaker 1: At all.
[57:27] Speaker 5: He would have never seen Tibbs. He's not going to
[57:28] Speaker 5: play 25 minutes for Tibbs. He's not going to play
[57:30] Speaker 5: at all. Like, he's going to get spot minutes. They're
[57:31] Speaker 5: going to bring him up from the go-down.
[57:34] Speaker 2: Jordan Clark is not going to play.
[57:35] Speaker 1: 29 minutes for him.
[57:36] Speaker 2: Not at all. Not because of certain things. Because of
[57:38] Speaker 2: the way he wants him to. So it's things like that, man,
[57:42] Speaker 2: where you've got to trust guys and give guys confidence.
[57:44] Speaker 2: And I think Mike Brown understood that coming into the situation.
[57:48] Speaker 2: giving guys opportunity. I can easily go, when the playoffs start,
[57:54] Speaker 2: I can easily play my starters 40 minutes, 42 minutes.
[57:57] Speaker 2: I can do that shit in my life. Yeah, that's
[57:58] Speaker 2: what you expect to do when the time you need
[58:00] Speaker 2: your guys. But doing that during a regular season is mind-blowing.
[58:06] Speaker 2: So I think Mike Brown understanding that and looking at
[58:09] Speaker 2: the totality of the roster, what we have over here,
[58:12] Speaker 2: and leaning on those guys right now. And it's working.
[58:15] Speaker 2: and playing him and Kolick and Bronson in the fourth
[58:17] Speaker 2: quarter together.
[58:18] Speaker 1: It worked.
[58:19] Speaker 2: It worked, right? So I think it's, yeah, you tweaking
[58:22] Speaker 2: with lineups and rotations and things now. So later on
[58:26] Speaker 2: in the playoffs, you know what you have. So, but yeah,
[58:28] Speaker 2: Nick's going to make some noise this year. I think
[58:30] Speaker 2: they're going, they're the favorite right now, man.
[58:34] Speaker 1: So one other point on the Cavs, they're now 22nd
[58:37] Speaker 1: in points allowed. They're 26th in three-point shooting allowed.
[58:42] Speaker 8: Mm-hmm.
[58:43] Speaker 1: So the towers, the two towers aren't towering right now.
[58:48] Speaker 1: And they're 13th in rebounding. So they're not, the two
[58:51] Speaker 1: big guys aren't dominating at all on either end of
[58:55] Speaker 1: the floor. And you can argue they miss Struess. Max
[58:59] Speaker 1: Struess has been out. And maybe he defends a little
[59:02] Speaker 1: more like a San Antonio defender would defend.
[59:05] Speaker 5: He's not going to move the needle. They'll still be
[59:08] Speaker 5: missing Ty Jerome. With Max Drews and Ty Jerome, they'll
[59:12] Speaker 5: be 17-15.
[59:12] Speaker 2: Both of them are targets. They'll be 17-15 with Max
[59:15] Speaker 2: Drews and Ty Jerome still, trust me.
[59:20] Speaker 1: Not 18 and 14?
[59:21] Speaker 5: 15 and there might be 15 and 17.
[59:23] Speaker 2: 15 and 17.
[59:23] Speaker 3: One of the things you said real quick, you said
[59:26] Speaker 3: Knicks have the ability to make a trade. Obviously, there's
[59:28] Speaker 3: been a lot of discourse about Giannis becoming a potential
[59:30] Speaker 3: option for some teams, but the Thunder and the Spurs
[59:32] Speaker 3: also have that same ability. Obviously, it seems like the
[59:35] Speaker 3: Spurs would be interested in doing that at this point.
[59:37] Speaker 3: I don't think they do, though. Detroit Pistons, too. I
[59:39] Speaker 3: don't think they do. But the person they're looking for, yeah. Yeah,
[59:42] Speaker 3: I don't think they do. I think they stay put, right?
[59:44] Speaker 3: I think all the teams stay put. They see what
[59:46] Speaker 3: they have, man, and go from here. Because it's, yeah,
[59:52] Speaker 3: it's about chemistry right now, man. You're building it. So
[59:55] Speaker 3: Spurs and Thunder, January 13th. Spurs put Belter after the
[59:58] Speaker 3: Thunder again in that game. Did the Thunder have to
[1:00:00] Speaker 3: think about trying.
[1:00:01] Speaker 2: To do something? The Thunder's definitely thinking about making a move.
[1:00:04] Speaker 1: No, I don't. Are they?
[1:00:05] Speaker 7: No, I think so because they've been exposed, like I
[1:00:08] Speaker 7: said before.
[1:00:09] Speaker 2: You exposed.
[1:00:09] Speaker 5: Who can you go get that's going to change the
[1:00:11] Speaker 5: way the Spurs are attacking you? You have to see that.
[1:00:13] Speaker 5: You have to see that. Wallace, Caruso. You're looking at
[1:00:18] Speaker 5: Isaiah Joe. Isaiah Joe.
[1:00:20] Speaker 2: Wiggins.
[1:00:21] Speaker 7: These are guys that, yes, they can shoot, right? Yes,
[1:00:24] Speaker 7: they can shoot.
[1:00:25] Speaker 5: But what did we need in that game to offset
[1:00:28] Speaker 5: the fact that you're not hitting shots? You can't get
[1:00:31] Speaker 5: into the paint. We need you touching paint, kicking the
[1:00:34] Speaker 5: ball out, getting to the free throw line. We don't
[1:00:36] Speaker 5: need just one guy getting to the free throw line.
[1:00:38] Speaker 5: We need our whole team getting to the free throw line.
[1:00:40] Speaker 5: I think they need to make a move 100%. They
[1:00:42] Speaker 5: need to start using them draft picks as leverage. They
[1:00:45] Speaker 5: need to get some more dynamic players in. Chet Holmgren.
[1:00:49] Speaker 5: is not the piece you depend on to be your end-all, be-all, center, dominator, rebounder,
[1:00:54] Speaker 5: shot blocker.
[1:00:55] Speaker 2: But they did, though. They did.
[1:00:57] Speaker 5: But even Harkin's time, they didn't win the chip like that.
[1:01:01] Speaker 5: That's not how they won the chip. They won the
[1:01:02] Speaker 5: chip right in the back of the MVP. The MVP
[1:01:05] Speaker 5: led them that way. When Chet was in it, it
[1:01:07] Speaker 5: was fucking balling.
[1:01:08] Speaker 4: 16-6.
[1:01:08] Speaker 2: Yo, he had 15.
[1:01:11] Speaker 1: 16-6.
[1:01:11] Speaker 5: Yo, big man, 16-6, that's solid. We can get any
[1:01:14] Speaker 5: big man to do that. You gave him a point.
[1:01:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, 15-6.
[1:01:18] Speaker 7: Well, giving him a point to me.
[1:01:20] Speaker 2: They winning games when he there, though. But this is
[1:01:23] Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
[1:01:24] Speaker 5: If you look at Harkestan, he was really the difference maker. Harkestan,
[1:01:29] Speaker 5: offensive rebounds, it's balling to the surface level.
[1:01:33] Speaker 2: When you look at the game.
[1:01:35] Speaker 4: Right.
[1:01:35] Speaker 2: Now what we're doing now that's helping him now.
[1:01:37] Speaker 4: How many losses they got this year?
[1:01:39] Speaker 1: Seven?
[1:01:40] Speaker 4: That's what he doing.
[1:01:41] Speaker 7: But what's happening in the losses is what we look at.
[1:01:43] Speaker 4: I ain't going to panic over losing to one team.
[1:01:47] Speaker 2: You have to.
[1:01:48] Speaker 5: You have to because this one team that you're going
[1:01:50] Speaker 5: to panic about is showing the whole league.
[1:01:52] Speaker 2: This is how you beat them. But everybody don't have
[1:01:54] Speaker 2: the personnel. Everybody don't got women. No, just overall personnel.
[1:01:59] Speaker 2: Women is the personnel. So the Blazers beat them. Oh, yeah.
[1:02:03] Speaker 1: Fluky.
[1:02:03] Speaker 7: You can say it's fluky.
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: They beat them.
[1:02:06] Speaker 5: But a loss is a loss when you talk about
[1:02:08] Speaker 5: being able to be competitive with a championship caliber team.
[1:02:13] Speaker 5: You look at how the Spurs exposed them. I'm looking
[1:02:16] Speaker 5: at it from the standpoint of Amen. They're not as
[1:02:19] Speaker 5: big as they're not as the big team as you
[1:02:21] Speaker 5: think they are. They're not as a scrappier team as
[1:02:23] Speaker 5: you think they are. Let's take away the bullshit fouls
[1:02:26] Speaker 5: that you're giving them. Let's take away the fact that
[1:02:29] Speaker 5: they get to the line on Tic Tacs. Spurs, we're
[1:02:31] Speaker 5: going here. Let's play defense without fouling. Let's make sure
[1:02:35] Speaker 5: the refs don't give us bullshit. And let's guard the
[1:02:39] Speaker 5: three pointer. Let's push them off the line.
[1:02:41] Speaker 4: That's a lot of defense, though. A lot of teams
[1:02:44] Speaker 4: in the league, it's going to be in one ear,
[1:02:47] Speaker 4: out the other.
[1:02:47] Speaker 5: But see, the defense you're talking about is fundamental back-to-basketball defense.
[1:02:52] Speaker 2: But who does that, though? Everybody should.
[1:02:54] Speaker 5: They've gotten away from it because they've allowed the whole
[1:02:57] Speaker 5: persona of this new form of NBA basketball to come
[1:03:02] Speaker 5: in and be like, oh, we're just going to come,
[1:03:03] Speaker 5: we're going to shoot, and I'm going to shoot. You shoot,
[1:03:05] Speaker 5: and I'm going to shoot. The Indiana Pacers came in.
[1:03:08] Speaker 5: Rick Carlisle went back to basketball.
[1:03:10] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
[1:03:10] Speaker 1: The OKC adopted.
[1:03:12] Speaker 2: The whole Chris.
[1:03:13] Speaker 1: Paul got down there.
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: It's like, guys, we need to play defense as a team.
[1:03:17] Speaker 1: Spurs.
[1:03:17] Speaker 5: Chris Paul ended up going to the Spurs, injecting that
[1:03:20] Speaker 5: same energy into them.
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: He did.
[1:03:21] Speaker 5: Let's play as a team. Let's get back to basketball.
[1:03:24] Speaker 5: The Detroit Pistons.
[1:03:26] Speaker 2: J.B.
[1:03:26] Speaker 5: Bickerstaff knows a little bit about this team dynamic because
[1:03:29] Speaker 5: his dad is his dad.
[1:03:31] Speaker 2: He got them playing team defense.
[1:03:34] Speaker 1: We see a few.
[1:03:35] Speaker 2: Teams that have this energy.
[1:03:37] Speaker 5: But it needs to trickle down to the other teams
[1:03:40] Speaker 5: because you can't just play Steph Curry Golden State Warriors
[1:03:42] Speaker 5: basketball and not defend like your pride is on the line.
[1:03:47] Speaker 5: That's what I've been preaching. Kenyon knows that because he's
[1:03:49] Speaker 5: a defender. He knows that the dynamic between a good
[1:03:52] Speaker 5: defensive team and a championship team is putting those two
[1:03:57] Speaker 5: things together. saying, we're going to defend first. We're going
[1:04:00] Speaker 5: to get our points off turnovers. We're going to make
[1:04:04] Speaker 5: the game fast.
[1:04:05] Speaker 4: OKC got that dynamic right now, right?
[1:04:07] Speaker 2: They've lost it.
[1:04:09] Speaker 4: But they got seven losses. They ain't lost it too
[1:04:12] Speaker 4: much because they only lost six, seven games.
[1:04:14] Speaker 5: They lost it so much, they lost three in a
[1:04:16] Speaker 5: row to the same niggas.
[1:04:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's... That's called a drive-by. That's called a drive-by.
[1:04:22] Speaker 4: That ain't going to make me panic. A drive-by is
[1:04:24] Speaker 4: going to make me panic.
[1:04:27] Speaker 2: Play that Debo sound, please. Play that.
[1:04:31] Speaker 4: So you.
[1:04:31] Speaker 2: Hear that shit right there, you panicking.
[1:04:34] Speaker 5: So y'all play other niggas with me, so that's what
[1:04:36] Speaker 5: y'all do?
[1:04:37] Speaker 1: Nah. Play that Devo. Play that Devo.
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: Hustle, that's what we do.
[1:04:43] Speaker 4: If OKC make a trade and bring the wrong guy in,
[1:04:46] Speaker 4: they might really lose that dynamic. And they might not
[1:04:48] Speaker 4: just be.
[1:04:49] Speaker 2: Losing to Spurs. But who you lose... Right now, we
[1:04:51] Speaker 2: got a great dynamic. All we got to do is
[1:04:52] Speaker 2: pick out... We need to switch our shit up to
[1:04:55] Speaker 2: play to Spurs. But who do you lose?
[1:04:56] Speaker 4: How can we get past these Spurs? If we don't
[1:04:58] Speaker 4: lose nothing, that's OKC.
[1:05:00] Speaker 5: If we don't lose a dynamic player, like let's say
[1:05:02] Speaker 5: we don't lose somebody that we really truly need, we
[1:05:06] Speaker 5: use our picks to bring somebody in, We're not losing anything.
[1:05:11] Speaker 2: But guess what that's against you, though? It's this thing
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: that they have. It's called a salary cap. They good
[1:05:17] Speaker 2: on the salary cap. You can get it right now,
[1:05:19] Speaker 2: but you can get it for this. What he's saying
[1:05:21] Speaker 2: they're trying to do, where the money is, is right
[1:05:24] Speaker 2: where it needs to be.
[1:05:25] Speaker 4: You said they need to make a trade. That's all
[1:05:27] Speaker 4: I'm saying.
[1:05:27] Speaker 2: Draft is draft.
[1:05:28] Speaker 4: But trade?
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: Trade.
[1:05:29] Speaker 4: Okay, see, who the fuck they going to trade?
[1:05:31] Speaker 2: Check.
[1:05:33] Speaker 7: Caruso in a package.
[1:05:36] Speaker 2: Them guys who... I'll even let Isaiah Joe and Dork.
[1:05:39] Speaker 1: I'll let Dork go.
[1:05:39] Speaker 2: Caruso is guarding Wimby. Mitchell, AJ Mitchell. Evidently, he set
[1:05:43] Speaker 2: the tone. That's our tone setter.
[1:05:45] Speaker 4: Even if he can't, you can say he can't guard him.
[1:05:47] Speaker 2: Who, you saying Caruso?
[1:05:48] Speaker 1: Who.
[1:05:49] Speaker 4: That's that defensive guy, isn't it?
[1:05:50] Speaker 2: He was one for 12. Wait, two for 32? I mean, shit.
[1:05:55] Speaker 2: He shot us out the game. He actually shot us
[1:05:58] Speaker 2: out the game.
[1:05:59] Speaker 5: Did he shoot you out the game when we voiced
[1:06:00] Speaker 5: the trophy? Did he shoot you out the game when
[1:06:02] Speaker 5: he counted? We ain't talking about that no more. We
[1:06:05] Speaker 5: are here. We are in the last three games. Shoot
[1:06:09] Speaker 5: me out the game in December, bro. In June, you
[1:06:12] Speaker 5: keep shooting them same shots. It's December right now. We
[1:06:15] Speaker 5: just talking about the last three games. You are not
[1:06:18] Speaker 5: the same player that did what you did in the
[1:06:20] Speaker 5: championship game.
[1:06:21] Speaker 1: Yes, he is.
[1:06:22] Speaker 2: So Talib, let me ask you a question. So do
[1:06:25] Speaker 2: they need Caruso and Lou Dort? Hell yeah, you do. No.
[1:06:29] Speaker 2: You got A.J.
[1:06:30] Speaker 5: Mitchell sitting over there that can defend and score.
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: He can play.
[1:06:36] Speaker 5: You're sitting him over here because you love these two
[1:06:39] Speaker 5: guys and what they did from last year.
[1:06:42] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the reason why they make no changes from
[1:06:44] Speaker 4: last year. Because we want that same energy. Dork and
[1:06:47] Speaker 4: Caruso going to bring us that same defensive energy.
[1:06:50] Speaker 2: I need that. I ain't getting rid of neither one
[1:06:53] Speaker 2: of them. And if they don't, I got until February
[1:06:55] Speaker 2: to make that move. That's what we talk about.
[1:06:57] Speaker 5: Every team that won a championship from... The Milwaukee Bucks
[1:07:01] Speaker 5: to the Denver Nuggets to the Boston Celtics never made
[1:07:04] Speaker 5: a change and they end up paying for it the
[1:07:06] Speaker 5: next year because we figured you out from the year before.
[1:07:10] Speaker 5: We see what you did. We understand that you guys
[1:07:13] Speaker 5: are dynamic in doing this, but you didn't make a change.
[1:07:16] Speaker 5: We're going to adapt to that. Now, when you see
[1:07:18] Speaker 5: our adaptation, you're like, well, what do we do now? No,
[1:07:24] Speaker 5: we figured you out. Now, y'all not going to repeat
[1:07:27] Speaker 5: because you didn't double up. You didn't make yourselves better.
[1:07:30] Speaker 5: You came back thinking that y'all were just going to
[1:07:32] Speaker 5: sweep the whole thing again. And that's how sports, that's
[1:07:36] Speaker 5: what makes us all sports fans because we're like, all right,
[1:07:38] Speaker 5: they're good enough.
[1:07:39] Speaker 2: I picked the Eagles again, right?
[1:07:42] Speaker 5: The Eagles don't look like they're a fucking championship team
[1:07:45] Speaker 5: based on the fact that they didn't make no fucking changes.
[1:07:48] Speaker 5: Late in the season, maybe, with Phillips and those guys.
[1:07:51] Speaker 5: But now it's like, man, we look crazy. The same
[1:07:54] Speaker 5: thing with OKC. You look crazy after starting phenomenal. But
[1:07:58] Speaker 5: we figured you out. Same thing happened with Boston. Y'all
[1:08:01] Speaker 5: look good. Jason Tatum looked great coming in.
[1:08:04] Speaker 4: Boom.
[1:08:05] Speaker 2: We figured you out. OK, Denver started.
[1:08:10] Speaker 1: Oh, fresh.
[1:08:11] Speaker 5: Oh, man, Jamal Murray struggling for some reason. We put
[1:08:14] Speaker 5: the heat on him early. We're going to test him.
[1:08:17] Speaker 5: Michael Porter Jr. don't know what he.
[1:08:18] Speaker 2: Want to do. We don't know where his mind at.
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: We look at this as a dynamic of history.
[1:08:25] Speaker 5: It's shown that if you don't make no improvements, man,
[1:08:28] Speaker 5: there's no way you're going to repeat.
[1:08:29] Speaker 1: So what was Oklahoma City's Achilles heel last year that
[1:08:32] Speaker 1: everybody talked about? If you can slow them down into
[1:08:36] Speaker 1: a half court set, they struggle because it's MVP or bust.
[1:08:40] Speaker 2: Yes.
[1:08:40] Speaker 1: It's shade, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's all solo act, right? So.
[1:08:45] Speaker 1: Right now, they need to trade for Shea's confidence. They
[1:08:48] Speaker 1: need to go reacquire his confidence because it's him or nothing.
[1:08:53] Speaker 1: Because they have shooters, but they don't utilize... Wiggins can
[1:08:58] Speaker 1: shoot the lights out and Isaiah Joe, that's all he
[1:09:01] Speaker 1: can do is shoot. But they don't utilize it enough
[1:09:05] Speaker 1: because when push comes to shove and they're getting shoved
[1:09:08] Speaker 1: back and back and back, it's Shea or bust. So
[1:09:12] Speaker 1: I don't know. You can't go acquire another Shea because
[1:09:14] Speaker 1: he's the reigning MVP, right?
[1:09:16] Speaker 2: Exactly.
[1:09:17] Speaker 1: So do you need a bigger, badder bruiser in the paint?
[1:09:21] Speaker 1: Because Hartenstein was really good last year for them, right?
[1:09:25] Speaker 7: What do you think about Malik Monk?
[1:09:28] Speaker 1: As a fire starter coming off the bench, they would
[1:09:32] Speaker 1: think about that. Now, he doesn't defend, so they're going
[1:09:34] Speaker 1: to lose a little bit of defensive identity. You're losing your.
[1:09:38] Speaker 2: Identity, period. No, you can bring him in. You still
[1:09:41] Speaker 2: got enough guys and weekends. You got too many defenders
[1:09:44] Speaker 2: right now.
[1:09:45] Speaker 1: You got a lot of guys that do the same thing.
[1:09:47] Speaker 2: You got a lot of guys that do the same thing.
[1:09:49] Speaker 2: So I think you need to get more tall and
[1:09:51] Speaker 2: athletic at that position. Jeremy Grant?
[1:09:54] Speaker 1: Maybe.
[1:09:55] Speaker 6: Maybe.
[1:09:55] Speaker 2: Him, Zach Levine, Jeremy Grant, like, I ain't saying, like,
[1:09:59] Speaker 2: I like Zach Levine.
[1:10:01] Speaker 5: I think he can, he makes shots. I think he'll buy,
[1:10:04] Speaker 5: I think, in the right environment.
[1:10:05] Speaker 2: I think he will. I think if you change, you
[1:10:08] Speaker 2: change the environment. Who you gonna send out? So you
[1:10:11] Speaker 2: change the environment. Yeah, Joe. You can change either one,
[1:10:13] Speaker 2: just pick. Yeah, you can pick. You can pick one.
[1:10:15] Speaker 2: Take one of them and some picks. You change his environment.
[1:10:22] Speaker 2: You need to get to the free throw line a
[1:10:23] Speaker 2: little more. You need somebody that draws fouls beside Shea.
[1:10:25] Speaker 2: You need a DeMar DeRozan. You need a DeMar DeRozan.
[1:10:28] Speaker 2: Somebody who will get you a bucket when you, like
[1:10:30] Speaker 2: if you want to pick off that team, yeah, you
[1:10:32] Speaker 2: go Malik Monk. You go, if it's me, I'm going
[1:10:34] Speaker 2: DeMar DeRozan because I need somebody who can get to
[1:10:36] Speaker 2: the line besides Shea. Somebody who can score but get
[1:10:38] Speaker 2: to the line. He loves to get to the line.
[1:10:40] Speaker 2: Because Shea, it's too much pressure on him to do
[1:10:42] Speaker 2: it every possession, right, to get us in the bonus
[1:10:45] Speaker 2: every possession. Quarter, right?
[1:10:46] Speaker 4: You see him foul baiting his way to it. He's
[1:10:48] Speaker 4: having too much pressure on Kobe and shit, though.
[1:10:50] Speaker 2: Well, he just played naturally, though.
[1:10:51] Speaker 4: He's in a boat. You know what I'm saying?
[1:10:53] Speaker 2: To do what?
[1:10:54] Speaker 4: To get buckets.
[1:10:55] Speaker 2: To get us in the bonus? No, we could throw
[1:10:56] Speaker 2: the ball on the block. We had other guys that could...
[1:11:00] Speaker 2: draw two fouls a quarter. You ain't got to draw
[1:11:02] Speaker 2: four fouls. I'm never going to see one of my dog.
[1:11:06] Speaker 4: Defenders for Malik Monk so he can get more buckets.
[1:11:09] Speaker 2: That ain't how we got there.
[1:11:10] Speaker 5: But you got five defenders within. That's why we in
[1:11:14] Speaker 5: the tip. That's why we got.
[1:11:15] Speaker 2: Seven off right now. It was not why. It was
[1:11:17] Speaker 2: not why. I don't know what I'll be watching. I watch.
[1:11:19] Speaker 4: Maybe I watch the game from a defensive perspective. I
[1:11:23] Speaker 4: watch the game like, motherfucking OKC played deep. That's why
[1:11:26] Speaker 4: they got seven losses. That's why they in the chip.
[1:11:29] Speaker 4: They playing fucking defense.
[1:11:30] Speaker 1: Everybody. I want Malik Monk.
[1:11:33] Speaker 5: So I made him a point. So I told my
[1:11:35] Speaker 5: staff the other day, right?
[1:11:36] Speaker 2: In the top 10 defensive rating in the NBA, Oklahoma
[1:11:40] Speaker 2: City has the top five spots. Individual player rating for defense.
[1:11:45] Speaker 2: Oklahoma City has the top five spots. And Shea is
[1:11:48] Speaker 2: at eighth. So they got six of the top ten
[1:11:51] Speaker 2: spots defensively on point. Come up off a few of them.
[1:11:54] Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
[1:11:55] Speaker 4: Why would I come up off a few of them, though?
[1:11:57] Speaker 2: Because we see.
[1:11:59] Speaker 1: If I just won the.
[1:11:59] Speaker 2: Tip with this, why would I want some more offensive power?
[1:12:02] Speaker 5: I'm going to tell you why. Because you look at
[1:12:04] Speaker 5: what the Spurs exposed. Your perimeter defense.
[1:12:07] Speaker 2: Look, your perimeter defense ain't as good.
[1:12:12] Speaker 5: Potent as you think it is when we put pressure
[1:12:14] Speaker 5: on you with athletic young guards who can play Isolation basketball,
[1:12:19] Speaker 5: you know who else can do that.
[1:12:20] Speaker 2: The Houston Rockets?
[1:12:22] Speaker 5: They were going to put pressure on your We call
[1:12:25] Speaker 5: it fantasy defense. It's what Duke used to play. Duke
[1:12:28] Speaker 5: plays the fantasy defense where.
[1:12:30] Speaker 2: It's, ah, we over here. We deny over here.
[1:12:32] Speaker 6: Ah!
[1:12:33] Speaker 2: But once we put that pressure on you and.
[1:12:35] Speaker 5: You got to guard straight line drives and you got
[1:12:38] Speaker 5: to come across and we get skipped to the next person,
[1:12:41] Speaker 5: we be sitting there like, throw me the ball so
[1:12:43] Speaker 5: I can make two come to me and I'm going
[1:12:45] Speaker 5: to go over here and throw it to Harrison Barnes,
[1:12:47] Speaker 5: who I told Kenyon, if we're not hitting shots, we're
[1:12:49] Speaker 5: going to lose.
[1:12:50] Speaker 7: But if we're hitting shots, guess what we're going to do?
[1:12:52] Speaker 7: We're going to blow y'all ass out.
[1:12:53] Speaker 1: The water.
[1:12:54] Speaker 5: We're going to beat y'all by 20. This is what's happening.
[1:12:57] Speaker 5: We talking about hoop though. We can watch the game
[1:13:00] Speaker 5: from a subjective standpoint and say, okay, see one from
[1:13:05] Speaker 5: defense and they play defense as a team. But when
[1:13:07] Speaker 5: we look at the objective standpoint, we say, well, none
[1:13:12] Speaker 5: of them guys can really guard unless they're playing as
[1:13:16] Speaker 5: a unit. So when we're San Antonio Spurs, we're going
[1:13:20] Speaker 5: to isolate these guards and make them guard us and
[1:13:22] Speaker 5: foul us and break down their defense by getting in
[1:13:25] Speaker 5: the paint, kicking the open shooters. This is what the
[1:13:28] Speaker 5: blueprint was. That's what the ethical basketball, Wimby, was talking about.
[1:13:32] Speaker 2: We play ethical basketball. He did. So, Sean, you talked
[1:13:35] Speaker 2: about the Rockets.
[1:13:36] Speaker 3: So let's shift over to Los Angeles because we got
[1:13:38] Speaker 3: a few more things we need to cover here on
[1:13:40] Speaker 3: this special. Day after Christmas recap episode.
[1:13:43] Speaker 2: Of Gills Reader presented by Underdog Woo Woo.
[1:13:44] Speaker 1: Woo Woo. We'll move on to Los Angeles.
[1:13:46] Speaker 3: It was supposed to be a Western conference showdown between
[1:13:48] Speaker 3: the Rockets and Lakers. Okay, there's no need to laugh,
[1:13:50] Speaker 3: all right? It's December, all right? Oh, I didn't say
[1:13:53] Speaker 3: that loud.
[1:13:53] Speaker 1: Okay, you did.
[1:13:54] Speaker 2: I thought it was me.
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: It's all good. It's all good.
[1:13:56] Speaker 3: Lakers entered the game suffering back-to-back loss for the first
[1:13:58] Speaker 3: time this season to the Clippers and Suns while the
[1:14:01] Speaker 3: Rockets were on the last stop of their six-game road trip,
[1:14:05] Speaker 3: going one and four in their previous five games, including
[1:14:07] Speaker 3: three overtime losses and a 20-point blowout by the Clippers. Tuesday,
[1:14:11] Speaker 3: Luke was back in the lineup after missing last game
[1:14:13] Speaker 3: with a left calf contusion, but Houston gave the Lakers
[1:14:16] Speaker 3: problems all night long. Let's look at these unfortunate highlights.
[1:14:19] Speaker 3: that spoiled some Christmases out there. So Tari Easton provided
[1:14:22] Speaker 3: a spark in his second start this season, scoring seven
[1:14:24] Speaker 3: of the Rockets' first 18 points. He had 13 points,
[1:14:27] Speaker 3: four steals, and two blocks. Houston raced out to a
[1:14:30] Speaker 3: 10-point lead, outscored the Lakers 37-25 in the first frame.
[1:14:34] Speaker 3: Lakers tried to bounce back in the second quarter. Austin
[1:14:36] Speaker 3: Reeves put up 12 points in his 15 minutes in
[1:14:38] Speaker 3: the first half. Did not return after halftime with left
[1:14:41] Speaker 3: calf soreness. Luka put up 25 points and seven dimes,
[1:14:44] Speaker 3: but led the team with six turnovers. And LeBron, 18,
[1:14:47] Speaker 3: five dimes and two steals in his 32 minutes of action.
[1:14:50] Speaker 3: The Rockets had six players scoring double figures, led by
[1:14:53] Speaker 3: Amon Thompson, who finished with a game-high 26 points, along
[1:14:56] Speaker 3: with seven rebounds and five assists. Kevin Durant had 25
[1:14:59] Speaker 3: and eight assists. He was eight for 14 from the field,
[1:15:01] Speaker 3: four for six from deep. Shangoon had 14 and 12,
[1:15:04] Speaker 3: and Reed Shepard added 13 points Off the bench, the
[1:15:08] Speaker 3: Rockets out-rebounded the Lakers 48-25. We're plus 16 in points
[1:15:12] Speaker 3: in the paint, plus 12 in points off turnovers.
[1:15:15] Speaker 2: That pot that y'all like to smoke.
[1:15:17] Speaker 3: Lakers have lost six of their last ten games, have
[1:15:20] Speaker 3: lost three straight games for the first time this season
[1:15:23] Speaker 3: while the Rockets get a much-needed win after losing five
[1:15:26] Speaker 3: games to the worst teams in the Western Conference this month.
[1:15:31] Speaker 3: Several on this road trip that they just wrapped up. So,
[1:15:35] Speaker 3: looking around. Skip, we'll start with you on this one.
[1:15:37] Speaker 3: What are the biggest takeaways from the Rockets' win over
[1:15:39] Speaker 3: the Lakers?
[1:15:43] Speaker 1: The Lakers haven't played any defense all year. They're ranked
[1:15:48] Speaker 1: 18th now in points allowed. They are the worst three-point
[1:15:52] Speaker 1: defending team in all of basketball. LeBron is now ranked
[1:15:57] Speaker 1: an individual defensive win share, something you would have dominated.
[1:16:01] Speaker 1: He's ranked 426th in the NBA, almost to the bottom.
[1:16:05] Speaker 1: I don't even know what that means, but God damn. Luka,
[1:16:08] Speaker 1: individual defensive win shares, is 240th. The Lakers have one
[1:16:13] Speaker 1: guy in the top 100, and believe it or not,
[1:16:16] Speaker 1: it's Austin Reeves. So all 10 of their losses are
[1:16:21] Speaker 1: by 10 or more points. So when they get spanked,
[1:16:24] Speaker 1: they get spanked. And their coach is calling them out,
[1:16:28] Speaker 1: saying defense is a choice and we don't care enough
[1:16:32] Speaker 1: right now. that they don't care about playing defense. And
[1:16:36] Speaker 1: it's a miracle that they're 19 and 10 right now.
[1:16:39] Speaker 1: And the only way they won those games is they
[1:16:42] Speaker 1: have three guys in the backcourt. who can just go
[1:16:45] Speaker 1: crazy hot and score like nobody can score in the league.
[1:16:49] Speaker 1: And that's starting with Luca and I'll throw in LeBron
[1:16:52] Speaker 1: and Austin Reeves. And all three of those guys have
[1:16:55] Speaker 1: had hot-handed games where just because one guy was scoring unstoppably,
[1:17:02] Speaker 1: they stole some games along the trail. And yet... Luka,
[1:17:08] Speaker 1: to me, is way overrated because the problem with Luka is,
[1:17:12] Speaker 1: and this is killing them as a basketball team, he's
[1:17:17] Speaker 1: second in the league in three-point attempts. Second to Steph
[1:17:20] Speaker 1: in three-point attempts. He's shooting 32% from three. That ranks
[1:17:23] Speaker 1: 184th in basketball.
[1:17:28] Speaker 2: 184th.
[1:17:28] Speaker 1: Well, that means there are a lot of empty possessions.
[1:17:32] Speaker 1: And guess what? Luka is leading the NBA in turnovers,
[1:17:36] Speaker 1: 4.3 a game. So last night he had five in
[1:17:39] Speaker 1: the first half. He had three in the first two
[1:17:41] Speaker 1: and a half minutes. And Houston said, thank you very much,
[1:17:45] Speaker 1: jumped out 14 and never looked back. And then Austin Reeves,
[1:17:48] Speaker 1: who can come in and light it up, as you
[1:17:51] Speaker 1: pointed out, he didn't get to play in the second
[1:17:53] Speaker 1: half because of calf soreness. So they're all offense, no defense.
[1:17:59] Speaker 1: And this isn't going to turn around because as much
[1:18:03] Speaker 1: as I love watching those three play together in the
[1:18:06] Speaker 1: backcourt because the IQ is just off the charts. It's
[1:18:08] Speaker 1: the highest IQ of any three guards who have ever played.
[1:18:12] Speaker 1: and any one of them can just go crazy hot
[1:18:14] Speaker 1: on any given night. But Austin Reeves is the only
[1:18:18] Speaker 1: one who even tries to play defense, and he ranks
[1:18:21] Speaker 1: 90th in defense. So it didn't surprise me. Houston crushed
[1:18:26] Speaker 1: them on the boards, 48-25. Houston crushed them in offensive rebounds, 17-7,
[1:18:32] Speaker 1: because Houston leads the league in rebounds. That's what they do.
[1:18:35] Speaker 1: So they're a nightmare matchup for the Lakers. a special
[1:18:40] Speaker 1: on Christmas Day in L.A. So I wasn't at all
[1:18:43] Speaker 1: surprised by what I saw.
[1:18:45] Speaker 2: Shot, I see you have pulled the mask out.
[1:18:47] Speaker 6: Yep.
[1:18:51] Speaker 7: Heavy is the head that wears the crown.
[1:18:54] Speaker 5: Surprise, Skip didn't touch on none of that.
[1:18:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, man, we got to talk about it.
[1:19:01] Speaker 1: Yep.
[1:19:03] Speaker 2: Before LeBron got there, where were the Lakers and how
[1:19:05] Speaker 2: did they look?
[1:19:07] Speaker 1: We got there, what, 2018?
[1:19:09] Speaker 2: Phenomenal.
[1:19:10] Speaker 1: Oh, this is.
[1:19:10] Speaker 2: This year.
[1:19:11] Speaker 1: Okay, I was going to say.
[1:19:12] Speaker 5: This year, Luca, Slim Luca, before he started to slowly
[1:19:17] Speaker 5: become free willy again.
[1:19:18] Speaker 2: He did.
[1:19:18] Speaker 1: He looked great. He looked great.
[1:19:23] Speaker 2: Right?
[1:19:24] Speaker 5: Then we look in at Austin Reeves and we're like, wow,
[1:19:26] Speaker 5: we're going to have to give him the max. There
[1:19:30] Speaker 5: wasn't a lot of conversation about defense at the time
[1:19:33] Speaker 5: because JJ had a system in to cover those guys.
[1:19:36] Speaker 5: Make sure that the rotations were the rotations. It's all
[1:19:40] Speaker 5: about effort and hustle. But I look at something that's
[1:19:44] Speaker 5: a crazy dynamic for J.J. Riddick because, you know, he
[1:19:47] Speaker 5: got on TV when he was an analyst at first take.
[1:19:52] Speaker 5: And he spewed so heavily about Doc Rivers being the
[1:19:57] Speaker 5: guy to never take accountability and always throwing his team
[1:20:02] Speaker 5: under the bus.
[1:20:03] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:20:04] Speaker 5: And always blaming this and that.
[1:20:07] Speaker 2: This guy never takes accountability.
[1:20:11] Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Bro, sugar. But full circle. We see J.J.
[1:20:15] Speaker 5: Get up here in the press conference and constantly duck,
[1:20:19] Speaker 5: giving accountability to his star players who do not play
[1:20:23] Speaker 5: defense clearly because we all are watching.
[1:20:25] Speaker 2: We can see this shit. So, Sean, we have J.J.
[1:20:28] Speaker 5: Post-comment last night after they lost to the Rockies. So
[1:20:31] Speaker 5: let's play those.
[1:20:32] Speaker 2: If we can, please.
[1:20:33] Speaker 9: The two words of the day were effort and execution. And,
[1:20:35] Speaker 9: you know, I feel like when we've done both of
[1:20:39] Speaker 9: those things at a high level, we've been a good
[1:20:40] Speaker 9: basketball team. When we haven't, we're a terrible basketball team.
[1:20:42] Speaker 9: And tonight we were a terrible basketball team. And that
[1:20:44] Speaker 9: started legitimately right away because we don't care enough right now.
[1:20:48] Speaker 9: And that's the part that bothers you a lot. We
[1:20:52] Speaker 9: don't care enough to, like, do the things that are necessary.
[1:20:55] Speaker 9: We don't care enough to be a professional.
[1:20:58] Speaker 2: It's, you know, we had it.
[1:21:00] Speaker 7: We had it.
[1:21:02] Speaker 9: I always say this about culture. I always say this
[1:21:04] Speaker 9: about a good team being a functioning organism. It can
[1:21:11] Speaker 9: change like that.
[1:21:12] Speaker 2: We don't have it right now.
[1:21:13] Speaker 9: Again, it goes back to what I said the other night.
[1:21:15] Speaker 9: It's a matter of making the choice. And too often
[1:21:17] Speaker 9: we have guys that don't want to make that choice.
[1:21:20] Speaker 9: And it's pretty consistent who those guys are. And so
[1:21:23] Speaker 9: Saturday practice, I told the guys, it's going to be uncomfortable.
[1:21:27] Speaker 9: The meeting is going to be uncomfortable. I'm not doing
[1:21:31] Speaker 9: another 53 games like this.
[1:21:34] Speaker 5: It's so sad that JJ had to go about that
[1:21:37] Speaker 5: that way because we blame Darvin Ham for a lot
[1:21:40] Speaker 5: of shit that JJ is complaining about currently. And I
[1:21:43] Speaker 5: want to shout out Darvin Ham for not publicly throwing
[1:21:46] Speaker 5: a lot of players under the bus, which he should
[1:21:47] Speaker 5: have because it would have saved his job. But the
[1:21:50] Speaker 5: fact that JJ is now going through the same thing
[1:21:53] Speaker 5: Darvin Ham is going through, trying to figure out how
[1:21:55] Speaker 5: to motivate guys who are getting paid a lot of
[1:21:59] Speaker 5: money to play this game. And if you can't hold
[1:22:02] Speaker 5: guys accountable, like we've always said on this couch, which
[1:22:06] Speaker 5: the couch, it was a four-on-one day. I remember it
[1:22:08] Speaker 5: was like 78% for me. But when you hold these
[1:22:12] Speaker 5: guys accountable, two things happen. You got to show up
[1:22:16] Speaker 5: or you got to run away. And I think when
[1:22:19] Speaker 5: we watch the game of basketball and you watch the
[1:22:21] Speaker 5: Lakers play, you're talking about being a Los Angeles Lakers
[1:22:24] Speaker 5: head coach, being a Los Angeles Lakers player, upholding legacy
[1:22:28] Speaker 5: and prestige and You have to show up as if
[1:22:32] Speaker 5: the fans are more of a priority than anything because
[1:22:36] Speaker 5: these people want to see winning.
[1:22:38] Speaker 2: They're used to it.
[1:22:40] Speaker 5: So Luka didn't ask to be here and the fans
[1:22:42] Speaker 5: didn't ask for Luka. I don't think the fans asked
[1:22:45] Speaker 5: for LeBron James either, but they're both here. Two of
[1:22:48] Speaker 5: the greatest players to play the game. And you mean
[1:22:51] Speaker 5: to tell me we got to ask you to come
[1:22:53] Speaker 5: play defense?
[1:22:54] Speaker 1: No.
[1:22:56] Speaker 5: You want to be the greatest at the top of
[1:22:58] Speaker 5: the top, but you want everyone to volunteer you into
[1:23:01] Speaker 5: a tier level of two of the greatest guys that
[1:23:04] Speaker 5: ever played a game. When you talk about Kobe Bryant
[1:23:06] Speaker 5: and Michael Jordan, you talk about Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell,
[1:23:10] Speaker 5: guys you never had to ask to compete.
[1:23:14] Speaker 1: Even Magic Johnson.
[1:23:16] Speaker 5: Where are all the Lakers that used to play for
[1:23:19] Speaker 5: the Lakers that are not speaking out on what we
[1:23:22] Speaker 5: are seeing? This is a travesty what we're watching because
[1:23:26] Speaker 5: we got to go out and see effort.
[1:23:29] Speaker 2: J.J.
[1:23:29] Speaker 5: Shouldn't say Saturday we're going to talk. You're supposed to
[1:23:31] Speaker 5: be saying that shit at training camp. The fuck you
[1:23:34] Speaker 5: talking about now?
[1:23:36] Speaker 3: Well, I think he's been expressing it, and there was
[1:23:37] Speaker 3: also reports that he said they need to improve on
[1:23:41] Speaker 3: the defensive side.
[1:23:42] Speaker 2: So I'm feeling there's two things I want to touch on, right?
[1:23:47] Speaker 2: The first one is, so he said the words of
[1:23:49] Speaker 2: the day are what? Execution and effort and execution. Is
[1:23:53] Speaker 2: this the fucking kindergarten classroom where you put words of
[1:23:56] Speaker 2: the day on the fucking board? What are we talking
[1:24:01] Speaker 2: about here? The words of the day are effort and execution.
[1:24:06] Speaker 5: I saw that when I used to drop my son
[1:24:08] Speaker 5: off at school at kindergarten two years ago. Word of
[1:24:11] Speaker 5: the day on the door when you walk in. You
[1:24:13] Speaker 5: got to tell the teacher the word of the day
[1:24:15] Speaker 5: before you can enter the classroom.
[1:24:17] Speaker 2: Is this what we're doing here? With professional athletes that's
[1:24:20] Speaker 2: making 30, 40, 50 million dollars a year, that's what
[1:24:22] Speaker 2: we're doing here?
[1:24:24] Speaker 4: Right?
[1:24:25] Speaker 1: First point.
[1:24:27] Speaker 2: Second point. JJ, I don't know if you know this
[1:24:32] Speaker 2: or not, bruh, them dudes don't respect you. You are
[1:24:37] Speaker 2: their peer. They are not, just because you have the
[1:24:41] Speaker 2: head coach title, they don't look at you as such.
[1:24:45] Speaker 2: And the main corporate is the guy who you just
[1:24:47] Speaker 2: had the podcast with. That helped hire you. That helped
[1:24:51] Speaker 2: get you the job, man. Like, let's call a spade
[1:24:54] Speaker 2: a spade. Like, if they did, they'll play harder. They'll
[1:25:00] Speaker 2: get back on defense. Once you address the crime, every
[1:25:03] Speaker 2: possession to the rest with Luca and Alston Reeves and LeBron,
[1:25:06] Speaker 2: if you addressed it once, if they respect you, they'll
[1:25:08] Speaker 2: go out their way to try to change you because
[1:25:10] Speaker 2: you are a new voice in there. And you gave
[1:25:13] Speaker 2: a certain effort when you played, J.J. Redick. You did.
[1:25:15] Speaker 2: You played hard every time you stepped on the floor.
[1:25:18] Speaker 2: People respected that about you. I'm going to tell you
[1:25:22] Speaker 2: something that was told to me in the big three
[1:25:23] Speaker 2: when we were playing by Dante Jones. I was pissed
[1:25:26] Speaker 2: off after one of the games and he told me this.
[1:25:30] Speaker 2: You know you can't put your heart in him, right?
[1:25:37] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:25:38] Speaker 2: It's that. You can want it for him. You can, listen,
[1:25:42] Speaker 2: you can want it, want it, want it. They're just
[1:25:44] Speaker 2: like your kids. You can want them to be successful
[1:25:46] Speaker 2: in this world. But if they don't want it for
[1:25:48] Speaker 2: themselves and go out and do it and look themselves
[1:25:50] Speaker 2: in the mirror, they're not going to do it. They're
[1:25:55] Speaker 2: just not. And they don't respect the messenger.
[1:26:00] Speaker 1: Effort.
[1:26:01] Speaker 2: He's complaining about effort. I'm not going to watch this
[1:26:06] Speaker 2: for 53 more games. So what are you going to
[1:26:09] Speaker 2: do about it? Saturdays.
[1:26:12] Speaker 3: Have a really tough practice on Saturdays.
[1:26:16] Speaker 2: Since I said we truth tellers in here. We tell
[1:26:19] Speaker 2: the truth. We've been there. We've been in this.
[1:26:21] Speaker 5: Do you actually think tomorrow's practice on 12-27-2025 that LeBron
[1:26:28] Speaker 5: James is going to go out to this bitch and
[1:26:30] Speaker 5: run around like he's 19?
[1:26:32] Speaker 2: He's not going to do it. You're not going to
[1:26:35] Speaker 2: run LeBron James 41-year-old ass in the ground And you're
[1:26:40] Speaker 2: not going to do it. Is there other ways to
[1:26:42] Speaker 2: make it uncomfortable for him? Do you think Luka is
[1:26:43] Speaker 2: finna buy in whatever it is that you're saying? No.
[1:26:46] Speaker 2: And them, the guys that you're speaking of, when this
[1:26:48] Speaker 2: message that you're talking about, you're not talking to Vando.
[1:26:51] Speaker 2: You're not talking to Marcus Smart. You're not talking to
[1:26:54] Speaker 2: Jackson Hayes. You're not talking to Rui. You're not talking
[1:26:58] Speaker 2: to those guys. You're not. So the guys that you're
[1:27:02] Speaker 2: speaking of was guys making all the money on the team.
[1:27:05] Speaker 2: Because we're watching guys not get back consistent. We're watching
[1:27:09] Speaker 2: the guys not give effort. We're watching these things in
[1:27:11] Speaker 2: real time. They don't respect J.J. You just got– listen,
[1:27:17] Speaker 2: you just got done playing a couple years ago, dog.
[1:27:20] Speaker 4: So who– it's just a team full of bucket getters, bro.
[1:27:25] Speaker 4: There's not really nobody there who's going to just stand
[1:27:28] Speaker 4: on defense. That's my whole point. That's why I wouldn't trade–
[1:27:32] Speaker 4: Dart for Monk. Like, because I don't got to deal. OK, see,
[1:27:35] Speaker 4: you don't got to deal with this shit. You know
[1:27:37] Speaker 4: what I'm saying? You don't got to deal with it.
[1:27:38] Speaker 4: I got a whole bunch of young guys who want
[1:27:40] Speaker 4: to play deep.
[1:27:41] Speaker 5: There's a difference between effort and not having any kind of.
[1:27:44] Speaker 2: But it's not, though. That's all defense is, is effort.
[1:27:46] Speaker 2: But imagine, the whole defense period is effort. It is,
[1:27:49] Speaker 2: but those dudes are not built on that from the beginning, right?
[1:27:53] Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck what.
[1:27:54] Speaker 2: I'm going to let you finish. I don't give a
[1:27:55] Speaker 2: fuck what J.J. Reddick comes out and does on tomorrow's practice.
[1:27:58] Speaker 2: with that team it doesn't matter it don't.
[1:28:00] Speaker 4: Matter because that team they gonna turn around on Sunday.
[1:28:02] Speaker 1: If they have a game on Sunday it's gonna be
[1:28:03] Speaker 1: the same shit.
[1:28:04] Speaker 4: What was on the board because they don't got the
[1:28:06] Speaker 4: guys who gonna stand.
[1:28:07] Speaker 5: On defense what was on the board effort and execution
[1:28:11] Speaker 5: effort and execution exactly so as a competitor on both
[1:28:16] Speaker 5: sides of the ball You don't have to ask me
[1:28:19] Speaker 5: for effort. But that's you, though.
[1:28:21] Speaker 2: No, we are competitors.
[1:28:22] Speaker 4: It's 20 teams who are dealing with that same shit
[1:28:24] Speaker 4: in the NBA.
[1:28:25] Speaker 2: That means you're not a competitor. It's 12 teams who not.
[1:28:27] Speaker 5: That means you're not a competitor. That means you don't
[1:28:30] Speaker 5: want to come out here and compete against that other guy.
[1:28:32] Speaker 5: Because you know when you line up against that other guy,
[1:28:34] Speaker 5: you're going to compete. That means I got to give
[1:28:36] Speaker 5: maximum effort. OKC don't have a problem with competitors.
[1:28:40] Speaker 2: They don't. They don't. Detroit don't. Winning organizations.
[1:28:45] Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. I don't think it's got nothing
[1:28:46] Speaker 4: to do about who the coach, do they respect him.
[1:28:50] Speaker 4: If you take, swap them out. put JJ, make him
[1:28:55] Speaker 4: the Thunderhead coach. Them motherfucking guys together want to play defense.
[1:29:00] Speaker 4: He going to be preaching the same shit all the
[1:29:02] Speaker 4: coaches in the league. You don't think every coach in
[1:29:04] Speaker 4: the league saying we need effort on defense. Everybody saying
[1:29:07] Speaker 4: that shit.
[1:29:08] Speaker 5: You respond to it differently for who, how, like they said.
[1:29:12] Speaker 5: It's a new generation where talk to me gentle.
[1:29:15] Speaker 2: Yeah, ask me nicely. Talk to me gentle. So you
[1:29:17] Speaker 2: ain't been here with us, right? So the message that
[1:29:20] Speaker 2: I said about Detroit, right? The difference, the only difference
[1:29:24] Speaker 2: in the Detroit Pistons right now, experience for one, but
[1:29:30] Speaker 2: the biggest thing is, I told JB, use the four-letter words, dog. Like,
[1:29:35] Speaker 2: Monty a good coach. Monty Williams a good coach, right?
[1:29:38] Speaker 2: He ain't cussing them motherfuckers out now, dog. So, the
[1:29:44] Speaker 2: effort is there, but if you're not giving it, guess what?
[1:29:47] Speaker 2: I'm not finna ask. I demand it. Demand it.
[1:29:49] Speaker 1: Right?
[1:29:50] Speaker 2: I demand it. Alpha shit. Alpha shit. That's what I'm saying. So, JJ,
[1:29:54] Speaker 2: you can do all that shit you want, dog. Listen,
[1:29:55] Speaker 2: you can go in there, bitch, and bitch until you
[1:29:58] Speaker 2: blue in the face. Stripes and spots come to mind, man.
[1:30:06] Speaker 2: You can't change the stripes on the zebra and the
[1:30:09] Speaker 2: spots on the leopard.
[1:30:10] Speaker 4: He's not going to put Brian or Luca on the bench.
[1:30:13] Speaker 2: You're definitely not. He ain't going to do that. So
[1:30:16] Speaker 2: what are you going to do then?
[1:30:17] Speaker 4: It's just a group of guys. Who is the most respected?
[1:30:21] Speaker 4: Phil Jackson could come coach these motherfuckers. But with that
[1:30:23] Speaker 4: group right there, they just ain't going to play no D.
[1:30:25] Speaker 7: You know what Phil did publicly? He made those guys accountable.
[1:30:31] Speaker 2: Publicly. By doing what? The same thing J.J. just did? No.
[1:30:35] Speaker 4: That's what J.J.
[1:30:35] Speaker 1: Just did.
[1:30:36] Speaker 7: He just called him out.
[1:30:37] Speaker 2: He didn't say no names.
[1:30:38] Speaker 1: When I publicly call.
[1:30:39] Speaker 5: You out as a leader and say, listen, I need
[1:30:42] Speaker 5: LeBron James to play better defense, stop yelling at the refs,
[1:30:46] Speaker 5: and get the fuck back.
[1:30:48] Speaker 2: The effort starts with LeBron James.
[1:30:50] Speaker 1: Leadership.
[1:30:50] Speaker 2: Exactly. If that message is, listen, the things that I'm saying,
[1:30:54] Speaker 2: the effort starts with LeBron James and Luka Doncic. We
[1:30:56] Speaker 2: go as they go, defensively, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera,
[1:30:59] Speaker 2: et cetera. That's a different message. then it's the same guy.
[1:31:02] Speaker 1: Yeah. Who?
[1:31:04] Speaker 7: Who you talking about, J.J.? Man, that's... But that's what
[1:31:08] Speaker 7: he is, though.
[1:31:08] Speaker 2: We know who he talking about.
[1:31:10] Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no.
[1:31:11] Speaker 4: God know who he talking about.
[1:31:11] Speaker 2: But you can't yell at me in the field. Since
[1:31:14] Speaker 2: he ain't say.
[1:31:15] Speaker 1: I'm Brian.
[1:31:15] Speaker 2: He ain't say my name.
[1:31:17] Speaker 1: He ain't say my name.
[1:31:18] Speaker 2: Exactly. Hell no. Gil would sit there and say the
[1:31:21] Speaker 2: same thing. He ain't saying me.
[1:31:23] Speaker 4: If he do say Gil, Gil still ain't gonna play
[1:31:25] Speaker 4: no D. If we're in the film room, right?
[1:31:26] Speaker 2: If we're in the film room, all of us on
[1:31:28] Speaker 2: the team, we're in the film room, right?
[1:31:29] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[1:31:30] Speaker 2: He come shot play 19 minutes a night He get
[1:31:34] Speaker 2: blew by one time on defense on the bad closeout
[1:31:37] Speaker 2: right and the coach spent seven minutes on the shot
[1:31:42] Speaker 2: right One closeout what clothes he spent seven minutes talking
[1:31:46] Speaker 2: about this one play with this man He'd been great
[1:31:49] Speaker 2: every other day, but you harp on so we got
[1:31:51] Speaker 2: it So we can't allow this type of air for
[1:31:53] Speaker 2: this type of clothes on this type of it up,
[1:31:54] Speaker 2: but you in I The other guy didn't play 42 minutes,
[1:31:58] Speaker 2: and he ain't got one clip up there. 22 closeouts
[1:32:01] Speaker 2: we can think of. He ain't got one clip up there.
[1:32:04] Speaker 2: I get it.
[1:32:04] Speaker 5: How does that resonate with the locker room?
[1:32:06] Speaker 7: How does that resonate, though, with the locker room?
[1:32:09] Speaker 4: That one dude who got 22 non-closeouts, just because I
[1:32:14] Speaker 4: call his name out, this motherfucker need to close out more.
[1:32:17] Speaker 2: He still ain't going to close out.
[1:32:18] Speaker 1: That's not his game.
[1:32:19] Speaker 2: Yes, he is.
[1:32:20] Speaker 5: That's the San Antonio Spurs. That's Tim Duncan and Greg Popovich.
[1:32:24] Speaker 5: Greg Popovich's whole fundamental strategy was to ostracize the star.
[1:32:31] Speaker 5: I got to have Tim Duncan be the example.
[1:32:34] Speaker 1: Right. He's got to be the guy.
[1:32:36] Speaker 4: Bill Belichick, too.
[1:32:37] Speaker 1: So you know.
[1:32:38] Speaker 4: The other thing that Pop and Bill Belichick did is
[1:32:41] Speaker 4: they going to bring niggas in.
[1:32:42] Speaker 5: Who want to play defense.
[1:32:45] Speaker 1: True.
[1:32:46] Speaker 2: But my stars, though.
[1:32:47] Speaker 4: Pop probably don't bring no Luka in.
[1:32:49] Speaker 2: I can't win with Luka.
[1:32:50] Speaker 5: You can't replace Tom Brady. You're not going to replace
[1:32:53] Speaker 5: Tom Brady, though, Bill.
[1:32:54] Speaker 2: Exactly.
[1:32:55] Speaker 4: He's going to need him to lead the charge.
[1:32:56] Speaker 1: I'm glad y'all brought it up.
[1:32:57] Speaker 2: I'm glad y'all brought that up, right? We're playing in Denver.
[1:33:01] Speaker 2: We're playing the San Antonio Spurs. I don't know their
[1:33:05] Speaker 2: scouting report, but I'm pretty sure that one of the
[1:33:08] Speaker 2: main things on the scouting report was stop by transition.
[1:33:11] Speaker 2: No transition points, right? Let's let this shit out. This
[1:33:15] Speaker 2: is a real story. The score was 2-0. Our first
[1:33:18] Speaker 2: two points was a fast break layup. This man called
[1:33:22] Speaker 2: timeout and took all five starters out. I told y'all.
[1:33:25] Speaker 2: It's 2-0, dog. You know what I'm saying? That's holding
[1:33:28] Speaker 2: your guys accountable. That's motherfucking sending a message. I'm not
[1:33:31] Speaker 2: playing with y'all.
[1:33:32] Speaker 5: He put it back in, but the fact that he
[1:33:36] Speaker 5: called a timeout, snatched all five, Tim Duncan included, right?
[1:33:39] Speaker 2: Tim, Tony, all. Y'all got me fucked up.
[1:33:42] Speaker 5: I think I'm playing. Y'all think it's a joke. I
[1:33:44] Speaker 5: said no fast. Listen, the way that we're going to
[1:33:46] Speaker 5: lose this game is fast break points.
[1:33:47] Speaker 2: Let's stop it. It's two nothing. JJ not doing that.
[1:33:53] Speaker 2: That's how you get.
[1:33:53] Speaker 1: J.J.
[1:33:54] Speaker 2: Not doing that.
[1:33:54] Speaker 4: Whoever the coach of the Lakers is not doing that.
[1:33:57] Speaker 4: It's levels to them personalities, bro.
[1:33:59] Speaker 2: Scott did it. I'm with you.
[1:34:00] Speaker 5: That's who did do it. That's who did do it.
[1:34:03] Speaker 5: That's who demanded respect everywhere he went. Byron Scott.
[1:34:08] Speaker 4: He was coaching the Lakers and they wanted Chip?
[1:34:10] Speaker 2: No, but he demanded respect.
[1:34:12] Speaker 1: What the fuck?
[1:34:13] Speaker 2: He didn't say it was shit.
[1:34:16] Speaker 5: What you mean? We're talking respect right now. This is
[1:34:20] Speaker 5: what the conversation is. Respect and having respect in the
[1:34:23] Speaker 5: locker room.
[1:34:24] Speaker 2: They was afraid of Byron. Byron was going to run him.
[1:34:26] Speaker 2: And think about the running.
[1:34:27] Speaker 1: Think about that.
[1:34:28] Speaker 2: Think about the running.
[1:34:29] Speaker 4: I think we're putting too much on this.
[1:34:30] Speaker 1: No.
[1:34:31] Speaker 2: Oh, hell no. It's the group of.
[1:34:33] Speaker 4: Guys you put together.
[1:34:34] Speaker 5: If Byron Scott comes in and says Saturday is going
[1:34:37] Speaker 5: to be tough for these guys.
[1:34:38] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, you best believe it's going to be tough.
[1:34:39] Speaker 5: You best believe it's going to be fucking tough, bro.
[1:34:42] Speaker 5: And listen, what the league is about now is you
[1:34:45] Speaker 5: can run me or we can practice as long as
[1:34:48] Speaker 5: you want to, but you don't work me as hard
[1:34:50] Speaker 5: as you want to.
[1:34:51] Speaker 1: I am the one who.
[1:34:52] Speaker 2: Decides how hard I work. You decide how long I work.
[1:34:56] Speaker 5: You can work me as long as you want, not
[1:34:57] Speaker 5: as hard as you want.
[1:34:58] Speaker 1: Allow me to say this about LeBron James. The head
[1:35:02] Speaker 1: is heavy, wears the crown. I can't hold him accountable
[1:35:07] Speaker 1: for this because he's almost 41 years of age.
[1:35:10] Speaker 2: Fucking senior citizen.
[1:35:12] Speaker 1: He's year 23, and the Los Angeles Lakers did not
[1:35:17] Speaker 1: want him back. They shamed him and dared him to
[1:35:22] Speaker 1: go into free agency and end it somewhere else. And remember,
[1:35:24] Speaker 1: he would show up in the Clippers facility working out,
[1:35:28] Speaker 1: and he went up to Cleveland and worked out, like,
[1:35:30] Speaker 1: I'm going to go here. I'm going to end it
[1:35:32] Speaker 1: in Cleveland. I dare you back. I dare you back.
[1:35:35] Speaker 1: And they said, no, no. We will not extend you.
[1:35:38] Speaker 1: But you got us by the balls because you got
[1:35:42] Speaker 1: that option. And it's your option. And if you exercise it,
[1:35:45] Speaker 1: we're stuck with you. No trade clause.
[1:35:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, no trade.
[1:35:49] Speaker 1: And what did LeBron do? He missed the first, what
[1:35:51] Speaker 1: was it, month, month and a half?
[1:35:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, 14 games.
[1:35:55] Speaker 1: And he was just saying, screw you. I'm not going
[1:35:57] Speaker 1: to play for a while. That's what sciatica my ass,
[1:36:00] Speaker 1: you know, like I'm just not buying it. So he
[1:36:08] Speaker 1: comes back and he says, screw you. I'll play offense,
[1:36:11] Speaker 1: but I won't play any defense.
[1:36:13] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:36:13] Speaker 1: A hundred percent, Skip. Go there.
[1:36:15] Speaker 2: If you're going to cook them, cook them then.
[1:36:18] Speaker 1: And so he's playing a career low 33 minutes a game.
[1:36:22] Speaker 1: And by the way, speaking of 33, last night he
[1:36:24] Speaker 1: was an all-time Laker low for him. Since he's been
[1:36:27] Speaker 1: with the Lakers, he was a minus 33. That was
[1:36:30] Speaker 1: the third worst of his career. Because when he's on
[1:36:33] Speaker 1: the floor, he did okay last night. He made a
[1:36:35] Speaker 1: few shots. He said, okay, I see that, I see that.
[1:36:38] Speaker 1: And he had one big game, I don't know if
[1:36:39] Speaker 1: you remember, at Philly. He scored 29 and did hit
[1:36:43] Speaker 1: a big three with about a minute left that kind
[1:36:45] Speaker 1: of iced it for them. So he's capable every once
[1:36:48] Speaker 1: in a while of doing LeBron stuff. But in the
[1:36:51] Speaker 1: big picture... They're stuck with him. And now every story
[1:36:55] Speaker 1: I read is about how Luca and Austin Reeves have bonded.
[1:36:58] Speaker 1: It's big brother, little brother, or whatever is going on
[1:37:00] Speaker 1: with them. It's just weird stuff. Very weird. It's very
[1:37:05] Speaker 1: weird because LeBron's the third wheel now. He's the one
[1:37:09] Speaker 1: who's ostracized. And believe it or not, I'm no big
[1:37:13] Speaker 1: LeBron fan, but I feel sorry for him in this
[1:37:15] Speaker 1: situation because it just feels wrong, wrong, wrong, and it
[1:37:18] Speaker 1: was wrong from the start. So here he is, and
[1:37:22] Speaker 1: he won't play defense, and his podcast partner is not
[1:37:25] Speaker 1: going to call him out because he loves him, and
[1:37:29] Speaker 1: he got the job because of him, like you said.
[1:37:33] Speaker 1: This is a mess, man. And I'm going to say
[1:37:35] Speaker 1: it again. Luka is overrated. I know he can score
[1:37:38] Speaker 1: and I know he's got genius and I know all that.
[1:37:41] Speaker 1: But when you can't make threes at the rate he's
[1:37:44] Speaker 1: shooting threes and when you turn it over at the
[1:37:46] Speaker 1: rate he's turning it over, it's hard to win with it, man.
[1:37:50] Speaker 1: And then on top of all that, you play no defense.
[1:37:53] Speaker 1: I think he plays less defense than LeBron does.
[1:37:57] Speaker 2: You're the leader of the team, bro.
[1:37:59] Speaker 1: 26 years old as well. Soon to be 41-year-old guy.
[1:38:01] Speaker 4: Bro, you can't count on him to lead the tournament. No,
[1:38:05] Speaker 4: the fuck you can't.
[1:38:05] Speaker 1: I'm paying him $ 52 million, bro. What the fuck is
[1:38:09] Speaker 1: you talking about?
[1:38:09] Speaker 2: That's because who he is.
[1:38:10] Speaker 1: Ain't no because of shit.
[1:38:12] Speaker 5: Because LeBron James can decide to be LeBron James when
[1:38:15] Speaker 5: he wants to.
[1:38:16] Speaker 1: We're going to depend on him.
[1:38:17] Speaker 4: To lead the charge.
[1:38:18] Speaker 2: He's a poor man. Let me tell you what I
[1:38:20] Speaker 2: know about basketball, especially when I watch him, is.
[1:38:23] Speaker 5: He's never lost a step, bro. Listen, when you're a
[1:38:26] Speaker 5: great actor, you can make it look like I can't
[1:38:30] Speaker 5: do it no more. He shows us glimpses of what
[1:38:34] Speaker 5: he can still do based on the ego of, I
[1:38:37] Speaker 5: can't let y'all know I can't go out here and
[1:38:39] Speaker 5: get 49-30 a game. LeBron can get you the exact
[1:38:43] Speaker 5: same numbers Kevin Durant can still get you right now.
[1:38:46] Speaker 1: But what'd you call the Duke defense? He's a show.
[1:38:49] Speaker 1: Show defense.
[1:38:49] Speaker 2: He's a show.
[1:38:50] Speaker 4: But if Luka turned on and started playing some defense,
[1:38:54] Speaker 4: turned to see Luka and did the show defense, just
[1:38:57] Speaker 4: show us you fucking tried.
[1:38:59] Speaker 1: Everybody else can do it.
[1:39:00] Speaker 5: But we're talking about the greatest of all time conversation.
[1:39:03] Speaker 5: When we talk about the GOAT, not at that position.
[1:39:07] Speaker 5: When we talk about the GOAT, LeBron is in the
[1:39:10] Speaker 5: conversation because he has put the longevity in of showing
[1:39:14] Speaker 5: us consistently year in, year.
[1:39:16] Speaker 7: Out what he can do.
[1:39:17] Speaker 5: Our expectations of LeBron James has always been the same.
[1:39:22] Speaker 5: So when your effort is now in question, which before
[1:39:27] Speaker 5: it never really was because he plays hard.
[1:39:29] Speaker 1: But what 41 have you seen put that level of effort?
[1:39:32] Speaker 2: Listen, that's what y'all are waiting for. It's okay, but
[1:39:34] Speaker 2: y'all can't. Hold on. Y'all can't.
[1:39:36] Speaker 1: Hold on.
[1:39:37] Speaker 2: You can't trigger. You can't split the hair, Josiah.
[1:39:39] Speaker 1: We can do whatever we want. We're not going to lie.
[1:39:42] Speaker 1: That's all he has.
[1:39:44] Speaker 5: Everyone uses the same fucking metric when you got no answer.
[1:39:48] Speaker 1: You can't want him to score 25, Josiah. But you
[1:39:49] Speaker 1: want this 44-year-old to be the defensive end?
[1:39:52] Speaker 2: Listen, get Luca to get more effort.
[1:39:54] Speaker 1: You're getting paid $ 52 million, bro. $ 52 million. So do
[1:39:56] Speaker 1: you say, oh, you're paying this.
[1:40:03] Speaker 5: 41-year-old, $ 52 million, should he give us more effort? You're
[1:40:06] Speaker 5: not going to say that in the conversation because there's
[1:40:09] Speaker 5: no other 41-year-olds that was doing this with his age.
[1:40:12] Speaker 1: We get that.
[1:40:13] Speaker 5: There's no other 40-year-olds that's ever in history been doing
[1:40:16] Speaker 5: what LeBron James does.
[1:40:18] Speaker 2: So at what point does.
[1:40:19] Speaker 5: He have to stop tricking us as if he can't
[1:40:23] Speaker 5: do this at the highest level still?
[1:40:25] Speaker 2: At 41, being deserving of $ 52 million.
[1:40:29] Speaker 2: Doesn't he deserve it? How many games do you want
[1:40:31] Speaker 2: him to do that?
[1:40:32] Speaker 4: He can still play defense, but he's not going to
[1:40:34] Speaker 4: lead the charge.
[1:40:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, we're not expecting him to.
[1:40:35] Speaker 4: All right, but that's what Coach is talking about.
[1:40:38] Speaker 2: J.J.
[1:40:39] Speaker 1: Is talking about.
[1:40:39] Speaker 2: The little things don't lead. It's little things.
[1:40:42] Speaker 4: It's little things like walking back with Luka.
[1:40:43] Speaker 1: Run your ass.
[1:40:44] Speaker 2: But still. Yeah.
[1:40:46] Speaker 1: So how about.
[1:40:47] Speaker 2: It was more for Luka to me. I get you.
[1:40:49] Speaker 1: It's more for Luka.
[1:40:50] Speaker 2: I dig it. Yes.
[1:40:52] Speaker 1: 100%.
[1:40:52] Speaker 4: You the young bull.
[1:40:53] Speaker 1: If you're giving up. Your effort is not there at all.
[1:40:55] Speaker 5: If you're giving up the long ball on streaks and
[1:40:58] Speaker 5: fades based on you thinking that the fucking quarterback just
[1:41:02] Speaker 5: not going to throw it.
[1:41:04] Speaker 2: And you giving up touchdowns.
[1:41:06] Speaker 5: And we walk back to the fucking bench. And we
[1:41:08] Speaker 5: look at Keeb like, yo, what's up, bro? You getting
[1:41:12] Speaker 5: paid the highest on the team. You have the right
[1:41:15] Speaker 5: to look at them like, man, shut the fuck up, bro.
[1:41:17] Speaker 8: Right.
[1:41:18] Speaker 2: That's the energy.
[1:41:20] Speaker 1: But is that winning energy?
[1:41:21] Speaker 4: It's definitely not.
[1:41:22] Speaker 1: It's definitely not.
[1:41:23] Speaker 5: So if we can hold you accountable and you look
[1:41:25] Speaker 5: at us like, that's my fucking bad, bro. I'm about
[1:41:29] Speaker 5: to turn this up because.
[1:41:30] Speaker 2: I know I can.
[1:41:31] Speaker 5: Because if I can't, we got to go back to
[1:41:33] Speaker 5: remember the Titans and sub the dude in the can.
[1:41:35] Speaker 1: Hey, look, coach. Let him in. Let him go. He
[1:41:39] Speaker 1: can guard him, coach. Me, I can't hang with him.
[1:41:42] Speaker 1: Let's hold each other accountable.
[1:41:44] Speaker 2: Let me just say this. To y'all's point, to everybody's point, right?
[1:41:49] Speaker 2: You do get by you, right? You know you can't
[1:41:53] Speaker 2: get to him, right? He got you at an angle.
[1:41:56] Speaker 2: You dive at his motherfucking leg. You know damn well
[1:41:59] Speaker 2: I can't get there. Basketball, the ball going out of bounds.
[1:42:04] Speaker 2: We dive on the floor knowing damn well we can't
[1:42:06] Speaker 2: get there. It's called fake hustle. Exactly.
[1:42:10] Speaker 5: Right?
[1:42:12] Speaker 2: Trick us. We're asking for Luka LeBron.
[1:42:16] Speaker 1: Trick us.
[1:42:17] Speaker 2: Right. Trick me, right?
[1:42:20] Speaker 1: I know you can't get back. It's a fast break.
[1:42:22] Speaker 2: I know you can't get there.
[1:42:24] Speaker 1: Trick the coach. Trick my fan base. Trick me.
[1:42:28] Speaker 2: Let me hold back. First two steps.
[1:42:33] Speaker 4: Now, if Luka go dive at his legs and so on,
[1:42:36] Speaker 4: that's going to crank me up. And if he don't,
[1:42:38] Speaker 4: I'm going to be like, man, Luka ain't fucking playing hard.
[1:42:40] Speaker 4: But if Brian go do it, I'm going to be like, shit,
[1:42:42] Speaker 4: that motherfucker 41, bro. I didn't even expect.
[1:42:44] Speaker 2: Him to do it. But that's even more. I don't
[1:42:46] Speaker 2: even expect him to do it.
[1:42:46] Speaker 1: That's even more because they got the old.
[1:42:48] Speaker 2: Guy doing it.
[1:42:49] Speaker 1: Look at the old guy.
[1:42:50] Speaker 5: If the old guy's doing it, why the fuck is
[1:42:52] Speaker 5: the young guy not doing it?
[1:42:53] Speaker 4: Luka is the leader of the team right now. He's
[1:42:55] Speaker 4: the face of the franchise.
[1:42:56] Speaker 1: I hear you. He got to do it.
[1:42:58] Speaker 2: If he do it, LeBron might crank it up a little. No, see,
[1:43:00] Speaker 2: the thing is, though.
[1:43:01] Speaker 1: It's going to all go through.
[1:43:02] Speaker 2: Him, bro.
[1:43:02] Speaker 4: If he don't do it, it ain't going to translate
[1:43:04] Speaker 4: to win.
[1:43:04] Speaker 2: Until LeBron leaves. So we say this on this show.
[1:43:07] Speaker 2: Until LeBron vacates the premises. It's a distraction. It's the
[1:43:13] Speaker 2: pink elephant in the room, right? Because whether he wants
[1:43:17] Speaker 2: to or not, his presence alone is dominant.
[1:43:22] Speaker 1: Right.
[1:43:22] Speaker 2: So therefore, when I'm Austin Reeves, I'm Dalton Connect, I'm
[1:43:30] Speaker 2: what's the, I'm the Rabia.
[1:43:31] Speaker 1: Yeah, Rabia. Yeah.
[1:43:35] Speaker 2: If I'm those guys, to your point, if the 41-year-old
[1:43:38] Speaker 2: guy dives on the floor, right?
[1:43:39] Speaker 1: Right.
[1:43:40] Speaker 2: I'd be damned if I don't.
[1:43:42] Speaker 1: Right.
[1:43:42] Speaker 2: See, that's you.
[1:43:43] Speaker 4: To me, if the best motherfucker on the team diving
[1:43:47] Speaker 4: on the floor, ah, shit, all right, I got to go.
[1:43:48] Speaker 1: You got to.
[1:43:49] Speaker 2: I'd be damned if I don't do it the next time.
[1:43:50] Speaker 4: I'd be damned if I don't. If Luka diving, ah, shit,
[1:43:52] Speaker 4: I got to fucking go.
[1:43:53] Speaker 2: Absolutely.
[1:43:54] Speaker 1: But you're in denial.
[1:43:55] Speaker 2: So it's a domino effect.
[1:43:56] Speaker 4: We had Brian ever say, Brian never, like, led the charge. But, like, bro,
[1:44:01] Speaker 4: he always got, he got fucking... Miami, he got Shane Battier's.
[1:44:05] Speaker 4: He got fucking Shumpert's. He got other guys who going
[1:44:08] Speaker 4: to really guard your best guy.
[1:44:10] Speaker 2: They going to be on him. He going to take down,
[1:44:12] Speaker 2: get a lot of.
[1:44:12] Speaker 5: But when it mattered, so to your point, so I'm
[1:44:14] Speaker 5: glad you said that.
[1:44:15] Speaker 2: When it mattered.
[1:44:16] Speaker 5: The chase down block. Hell yeah. The extra effort.
[1:44:21] Speaker 2: He running from this baseline down to that motherfucker to
[1:44:23] Speaker 2: go try to get a block. He don't know if
[1:44:25] Speaker 2: he going to get it or not.
[1:44:26] Speaker 4: But if the guy who posed to be leading the
[1:44:28] Speaker 4: charge in defense ain't leading the charge in defense, then shit. Bro,
[1:44:31] Speaker 4: I'm going to be right in line. Shit, we just
[1:44:33] Speaker 4: ain't got no defense in here. What the fuck I'm
[1:44:35] Speaker 4: doing it for?
[1:44:35] Speaker 1: You're in denial.
[1:44:36] Speaker 4: It's his job just to lead the charge on defense.
[1:44:39] Speaker 4: Hachi Mura, nigga, why you ain't leading the.
[1:44:41] Speaker 1: Charge on defense? You're in denial.
[1:44:43] Speaker 2: You feel me?
[1:44:43] Speaker 1: You're in denial. He ain't leading the charge on defense.
[1:44:45] Speaker 1: What the fuck?
[1:44:45] Speaker 4: I'm doing it for.
[1:44:46] Speaker 1: You're in denial.
[1:44:46] Speaker 4: We ain't going in.
[1:44:47] Speaker 2: I played enough.
[1:44:48] Speaker 4: Basketball to know if Hachimura don't leave the charge on defense,
[1:44:51] Speaker 4: we ain't going in.
[1:44:53] Speaker 2: So he ain't leaving the charge.
[1:44:54] Speaker 1: What the fuck?
[1:44:55] Speaker 2: I'm going to be diving on the pro club. It's insane.
[1:44:57] Speaker 1: It's insane. Who's a better basketball player? Don't matter.
[1:45:01] Speaker 2: Luka Doncic or LeBron James? Who got an exception? LeBron, easy. Okay,
[1:45:05] Speaker 2: what did you just say?
[1:45:06] Speaker 5: Yo, ho, let's go full circle right now because you
[1:45:08] Speaker 5: just said that the best player was Luka Doncic.
[1:45:12] Speaker 1: And that he should be the one leading the dark.
[1:45:14] Speaker 2: He's the face of the franchise.
[1:45:15] Speaker 1: That's what he is.
[1:45:16] Speaker 5: The best player is the leader. And they go by
[1:45:21] Speaker 5: his engine.
[1:45:22] Speaker 8: No.
[1:45:22] Speaker 2: Who has an extension right now?
[1:45:25] Speaker 1: When you say best player, I think a full body
[1:45:27] Speaker 1: of work. We already said that, Sean.
[1:45:28] Speaker 4: The leading dog on the team right now is Luka Doncic.
[1:45:31] Speaker 1: Who's the better player?
[1:45:32] Speaker 2: We already been there, Sean. LeBron James is still the
[1:45:35] Speaker 2: best player on the Lakers.
[1:45:36] Speaker 1: At this point right now. At this point right now. Still.
[1:45:42] Speaker 2: Still, $ 52 million.
[1:45:44] Speaker 5: LeBron James can still do LeBron James shit.
[1:45:48] Speaker 2: He has to share.
[1:45:49] Speaker 5: His throne with someone who he don't feel right is
[1:45:52] Speaker 5: ready to take over the helm, just like Anthony Davis.
[1:45:55] Speaker 1: Now, my point being- 34-99. My point being- Come on now.
[1:45:58] Speaker 2: Listen, these are talking about stats, bro.
[1:46:00] Speaker 4: What are you talking about?
[1:46:00] Speaker 1: You're talking about stats. That's what y'all do when you
[1:46:02] Speaker 1: don't really want to talk hoop.
[1:46:04] Speaker 2: 34-9-9.
[1:46:04] Speaker 5: Let's talk what the actual performance says. We talk about
[1:46:11] Speaker 5: what happens when you're out there. LeBron can affect the
[1:46:14] Speaker 5: game like nobody has ever done. And so when he's
[1:46:17] Speaker 5: not playing defense to this caliber and it's blaring, the
[1:46:21] Speaker 5: eye in the sky don't fucking lie. We can show
[1:46:25] Speaker 5: you film from before when LeBron James was engaged and
[1:46:30] Speaker 5: ready to go, full sense of urgency. He's unstoppable on
[1:46:35] Speaker 5: both sides. But when he's disengaged, bro, our team looks dismal.
[1:46:41] Speaker 5: We can never recover if he's not locked in. And
[1:46:45] Speaker 5: the fact that we can't hold him accountable and you
[1:46:48] Speaker 5: want to put the accountability on somebody else when he's
[1:46:51] Speaker 5: still the best player, it's unbelievable.
[1:46:54] Speaker 1: By the way, like nobody ever before except Jordan.
[1:46:57] Speaker 2: And he loved accountability. Yes.
[1:46:59] Speaker 5: He loved accountability. Call me out, please.
[1:47:02] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:47:03] Speaker 5: Give me a challenge. I'm done dominating these motherfuckers out here.
[1:47:06] Speaker 5: I need a new challenge. Bill, tell me something I
[1:47:09] Speaker 5: can't do.
[1:47:09] Speaker 2: Correct. Please. Yeah. That's where I'm at with it.
[1:47:13] Speaker 1: Are we sure that the Luka trade was the all-time
[1:47:16] Speaker 1: steal of the century? We sure about that?
[1:47:19] Speaker 4: He's just a bucket getter, bro. You got to put
[1:47:22] Speaker 4: him on somebody like the Thunder and let him be
[1:47:24] Speaker 4: the only one who don't play defense.
[1:47:26] Speaker 3: Good trade, all things considered, especially with the 80s situation
[1:47:28] Speaker 3: now with the growing injury. I'm saying if that's what
[1:47:30] Speaker 3: you're giving up to get him. The only injury the
[1:47:32] Speaker 3: man had.
[1:47:33] Speaker 2: I'm saying from a trade standpoint. Are we seeing what
[1:47:36] Speaker 2: Dallas was seeing?
[1:47:38] Speaker 1: What?
[1:47:39] Speaker 2: No defense. Yeah. I mean, we're saying 19 and 10.
[1:47:41] Speaker 5: And I'm not even saying, I'm not saying that's why
[1:47:43] Speaker 5: he was traded, but I remember being a Luka fan
[1:47:46] Speaker 5: when he was in Dallas.
[1:47:47] Speaker 2: I am a Luka fan.
[1:47:48] Speaker 7: I said, you know what?
[1:47:50] Speaker 5: I can't fuck with this, man, because he is just
[1:47:52] Speaker 5: not giving the effort that's needed.
[1:47:54] Speaker 1: And he's got a double chin.
[1:47:56] Speaker 2: Right?
[1:47:58] Speaker 1: Well, he does. And he is back.
[1:47:59] Speaker 2: It's back. It's back.
[1:48:01] Speaker 1: It's back. Holiday season, Scooby. Holiday season.
[1:48:05] Speaker 2: Okay. Gumbo.
[1:48:07] Speaker 1: I know.
[1:48:07] Speaker 2: You got it.
[1:48:08] Speaker 1: Slovenian gumbo.
[1:48:08] Speaker 2: Thanksgiving. Yeah, Thanksgiving. This is a hard window right here.
[1:48:12] Speaker 1: The double chin is back. This is a hard window.
[1:48:14] Speaker 4: Hey, January 1st coming up, you know, New Year's restaurant.
[1:48:18] Speaker 1: New Year, new me.
[1:48:19] Speaker 2: You feel me?
[1:48:19] Speaker 4: Doing that diet two months.
[1:48:21] Speaker 2: Yep. And the thing is, they 19 and 10, man.
[1:48:26] Speaker 4: They ain't just trash.
[1:48:28] Speaker 1: They look like they're 10 and 19.
[1:48:29] Speaker 2: That's the feeling. Imagine the energy of that.
[1:48:33] Speaker 5: Imagine when we talk about teams that are not playing
[1:48:35] Speaker 5: great but need to catch their stride later on in
[1:48:37] Speaker 5: the season.
[1:48:38] Speaker 2: This is a team that can do that.
[1:48:40] Speaker 5: But that coach and that confidence in the team, he's
[1:48:43] Speaker 5: really trying to figure out how to even challenge them
[1:48:45] Speaker 5: with a 19 and 10 record.
[1:48:48] Speaker 4: I thought he did a good job of challenging them.
[1:48:51] Speaker 4: We will find out Saturday. For the next 53. For
[1:48:53] Speaker 4: the next 53, bro. I ain't having it, so hey.
[1:48:57] Speaker 1: Shit, bro.
[1:48:57] Speaker 5: Does that sound like it's either me or y'all? Does
[1:49:00] Speaker 5: that sound like JJ's putting his.
[1:49:01] Speaker 1: Job on the line?
[1:49:02] Speaker 2: Who was the other coach when you said?
[1:49:04] Speaker 1: Who?
[1:49:06] Speaker 2: We took everybody out.
[1:49:07] Speaker 4: Oh, Bob.
[1:49:08] Speaker 2: Oh, not Byron Scott.
[1:49:09] Speaker 4: It's not like Byron Scott. You feel me?
[1:49:12] Speaker 3: Well, we will monitor the Lakers situation to see what happens.
[1:49:15] Speaker 3: 19-10 right now, fourth in the West. This is Luka
[1:49:18] Speaker 3: Doncic's team. Just as a reminder, 26-year-old, took him to
[1:49:20] Speaker 3: the Backstreet Boys concert, gave him an extension. Not on
[1:49:23] Speaker 3: the final year of his deal like some players on
[1:49:24] Speaker 3: that day. But let's shift over to the NFL because
[1:49:26] Speaker 3: the NFL did have games yesterday, too, in case.
[1:49:29] Speaker 1: You were unaware. They were on Netflix and Prime Video.
[1:49:32] Speaker 3: Broncos did it again as they survived against Kansas City
[1:49:35] Speaker 3: with their third Street quarterback on Kansas City's side. Denver
[1:49:38] Speaker 3: wins 20-13, improving to 13-3 on the season. It's just
[1:49:42] Speaker 3: closer and closer to that one seed. Although the Broncos
[1:49:44] Speaker 3: are a win away from the one seed, once again,
[1:49:47] Speaker 3: they got a close win to an inferior opponent. So
[1:49:49] Speaker 3: a main reason why they only have the fifth best
[1:49:51] Speaker 3: point differential in the AFC. So it keeps me saying
[1:49:54] Speaker 3: all year, don't matter if it's ugly, takes.
[1:49:56] Speaker 1: All four quarters.
[1:49:58] Speaker 4: As simple as that, man. You don't get no more points.
[1:50:01] Speaker 4: If you win by... 14, you don't get like a
[1:50:03] Speaker 4: win and a.
[1:50:04] Speaker 2: Half in football. It's just a win. A win is
[1:50:06] Speaker 2: a win.
[1:50:07] Speaker 4: It don't matter, bro. We talking about a team traveling.
[1:50:11] Speaker 4: We traveling from Denver to Kansas City on Christmas. Like,
[1:50:14] Speaker 4: it's a week full of distractions, for real. Like, all
[1:50:17] Speaker 4: we need to do is come away, come back, get
[1:50:20] Speaker 4: back on this plane with a dub. Who gives a
[1:50:22] Speaker 4: fuck how I look? And then you say it was
[1:50:24] Speaker 4: one score away. Really, Skip, really, Skip, I know how
[1:50:27] Speaker 4: you feel.
[1:50:27] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[1:50:28] Speaker 2: But we really beat the shit out of them the
[1:50:30] Speaker 2: whole game.
[1:50:31] Speaker 1: Really? Like, not even close.
[1:50:33] Speaker 2: We got three drives.
[1:50:36] Speaker 4: I mean, the score tells the game. But, like, come on, bro. We, like,
[1:50:39] Speaker 4: driving up and down the field at will. Like, every
[1:50:44] Speaker 4: time we get the ball, it's 15 plays in the bucket.
[1:50:47] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[1:50:48] Speaker 4: They have 57 yards passing, Skip, by the way. Was
[1:50:52] Speaker 4: we really struggling?
[1:50:52] Speaker 1: How did you let them hang around with 57 yards?
[1:50:55] Speaker 4: Because they got a good defense. It's a division game.
[1:50:59] Speaker 4: They're going to come play their fucking hardest, of course.
[1:51:01] Speaker 4: It's Kelsey last. The crowd turned up like it's a
[1:51:04] Speaker 4: chip because it's Kelsey last home game.
[1:51:06] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
[1:51:07] Speaker 4: You don't know that for sure. They finding reasons to
[1:51:10] Speaker 4: come play hard. You know what I'm saying? It's the NFL. NFL,
[1:51:15] Speaker 4: you got about 15 games a week. only about four
[1:51:18] Speaker 4: of them bitches going to be blowouts. It don't matter
[1:51:20] Speaker 4: who playing. It's only going to be about three, four
[1:51:22] Speaker 4: blowouts a week because this the NFL. You don't really
[1:51:26] Speaker 4: just see blowouts after blowouts like that.
[1:51:29] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[1:51:30] Speaker 4: And if you really sit down and watch the game,
[1:51:32] Speaker 4: I know everybody's watching basketball.
[1:51:34] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? 13 hours. 13 hours straight.
[1:51:36] Speaker 1: 9 a.m. to about 10.
[1:51:37] Speaker 4: I actually watched 12 hours straight of football. You know
[1:51:40] Speaker 4: what I'm saying? I actually watched every game.
[1:51:42] Speaker 2: You feel me?
[1:51:43] Speaker 4: Watched every minute of the Broncos game. And we really
[1:51:46] Speaker 4: beat the shit out of them the whole game. It
[1:51:48] Speaker 4: was no pressure on us the whole game, bro. It
[1:51:52] Speaker 4: was a weird final score, but they really had two
[1:51:55] Speaker 4: big plays. A pick that a guy tipped the ball.
[1:51:58] Speaker 4: He made an amazing play of his life. And a
[1:52:01] Speaker 4: punt return that set them up to get their 10
[1:52:03] Speaker 4: points or whatever the fuck they had.
[1:52:05] Speaker 2: Let's hear what Sean Payton had to say about the game.
[1:52:07] Speaker 2: It's great to get that win. It's great.
[1:52:09] Speaker 8: And you always have to remember this. Man, you're playing...
[1:52:16] Speaker 8: the heart of a champion. Andy and this team, I
[1:52:20] Speaker 8: don't care who comes out of that locker room. This
[1:52:25] Speaker 8: is a team that basically has been at the top
[1:52:29] Speaker 8: of our league for the better part of a century.
[1:52:33] Speaker 2: And so.
[1:52:36] Speaker 8: There's a ton of respect we have for what they've
[1:52:38] Speaker 8: been able to accomplish.
[1:52:41] Speaker 4: Like, we had seven possessions apiece. Like, this was like
[1:52:44] Speaker 4: a half of a game for real. Like, average, you're
[1:52:47] Speaker 4: going to have the ball like 11, 12 times.
[1:52:49] Speaker 1: That's like average.
[1:52:50] Speaker 4: But we had the ball seven times.
[1:52:52] Speaker 2: They run the ball every play.
[1:52:53] Speaker 1: Fuck it.
[1:52:54] Speaker 2: Shit, we run the ball every play. You know what
[1:52:55] Speaker 2: I'm saying?
[1:52:56] Speaker 4: We dominate the clock, dominate the plays. We really dominated
[1:53:00] Speaker 4: the whole game. You know what I'm saying? And we
[1:53:03] Speaker 4: beat it. That's a good defense. Like you said, a
[1:53:06] Speaker 4: championship team. Bro, it don't take.
[1:53:09] Speaker 2: Much, bro.
[1:53:10] Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
[1:53:11] Speaker 2: It don't take much.
[1:53:12] Speaker 1: You're playing a quarterback who doesn't belong in the National
[1:53:15] Speaker 1: Football League.
[1:53:15] Speaker 2: And he looked like that, Skip. He had 57 yards passing.
[1:53:18] Speaker 4: You act like we ain't dominate him.
[1:53:20] Speaker 1: He played at South Florida and Samford, not Stanford. Samford
[1:53:24] Speaker 1: and South Dakota State.
[1:53:25] Speaker 2: He looked like he played at Samford.
[1:53:27] Speaker 1: Samford, Samford.
[1:53:28] Speaker 2: He had 57 yards passing, Skip.
[1:53:30] Speaker 1: Chris Okidok or Ola Dukum or something. I've never even
[1:53:33] Speaker 1: heard of him before.
[1:53:34] Speaker 4: You're talking like his team didn't have 100 yards yesterday.
[1:53:36] Speaker 1: Okay. and I look up, I actually watched every play
[1:53:40] Speaker 1: of this game, and I look up, and with two
[1:53:42] Speaker 1: minutes to go, they've got a fourth and two, and
[1:53:46] Speaker 1: you've got a fourth and two at the 20-yard line,
[1:53:48] Speaker 1: 10-yard line, and Chris Jones jumps off sides, or you
[1:53:51] Speaker 1: might have lost the game.
[1:53:53] Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
[1:53:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, you might have lost the game. So, Aqib, I'm
[1:53:58] Speaker 1: looking at what you've done.
[1:53:59] Speaker 2: Hey, you're 11-2 now in one-score games.
[1:54:04] Speaker 1: You've won each of the last seven games by only
[1:54:07] Speaker 1: one score. So you're not exactly streaking into the playoffs.
[1:54:11] Speaker 1: You're just barely, barely, barely surviving.
[1:54:14] Speaker 4: Usually the Super Bowl winner, they dominate in one score
[1:54:16] Speaker 4: games that year.
[1:54:17] Speaker 1: So last year, Kansas City went 13-0 in one score
[1:54:20] Speaker 1: games during the regular season. And then because they had
[1:54:23] Speaker 1: a home field advantage, which you may have, you may
[1:54:26] Speaker 1: have it. And Kansas City got to the Super Bowl
[1:54:30] Speaker 1: and your Philadelphia Eagles exposed them.
[1:54:32] Speaker 4: So what was the Philadelphia Eagles record in one-score games?
[1:54:34] Speaker 4: They was like 9-1 in one-score games.
[1:54:37] Speaker 2: They dominated in one-score.
[1:54:38] Speaker 1: Games as well. But you got exposed. And I look
[1:54:40] Speaker 1: up and it's 40-6 Eagles in the Super Bowl. It's 40-6.
[1:54:45] Speaker 1: So all of a sudden... When you least expect it,
[1:54:48] Speaker 1: you get exposed. That's what's going to happen to your team.
[1:54:51] Speaker 1: You're cruising for the bruising. You're going to have the
[1:54:53] Speaker 1: biggest letdown you've ever had in your sports-watching life is
[1:54:57] Speaker 1: going to come in the playoffs.
[1:55:00] Speaker 2: I got a question. I'm hearing a lot of we.
[1:55:03] Speaker 2: Denver's your team?
[1:55:04] Speaker 1: No, he's... Of course. He bleeds orange.
[1:55:08] Speaker 4: I grew up a Cowboy fan. He won a championship there.
[1:55:10] Speaker 4: My ring came in. My ring came in.
[1:55:12] Speaker 2: So you're not a Dallas fan?
[1:55:13] Speaker 4: I'm a Dallas fan.
[1:55:14] Speaker 2: Oh, you both? Yeah. Just when Dallas lose, you decide
[1:55:17] Speaker 2: to just.
[1:55:17] Speaker 4: Oh, that's all the time. You got a team on
[1:55:20] Speaker 4: both sides. You know what I'm saying? I rock with
[1:55:23] Speaker 4: these boys. I rock with these boys.
[1:55:24] Speaker 2: Just in case. I bought three. Just for you, too,
[1:55:26] Speaker 2: because you can fit in this, too. I was wondering
[1:55:28] Speaker 2: what was in that bag.
[1:55:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1:55:29] Speaker 5: It's bags for bags because Skip deserves his own bag.
[1:55:33] Speaker 5: That's a real-size body bag. Yeah, you know, Kenyon, he
[1:55:35] Speaker 5: always going to be in the bag. Kenyon may have
[1:55:37] Speaker 5: to squat in that particular bag. Now this is the
[1:55:39] Speaker 5: new Aqib bag because the Dallas Cowboys did not make
[1:55:43] Speaker 5: the playoffs.
[1:55:44] Speaker 1: No shit.
[1:55:44] Speaker 5: And I had to, for 15 years, listen to Skip
[1:55:47] Speaker 5: Bayless talk about So grand about the fucking cowboy.
[1:55:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, so long.
[1:55:52] Speaker 5: Oh, you just know and all the Cowboys fans all
[1:55:55] Speaker 5: every year talking about.
[1:55:56] Speaker 1: America Steve America Steve.
[1:55:59] Speaker 2: South America, they be back nature South America.
[1:56:01] Speaker 1: Oh What we talking about with the cowboys?
[1:56:05] Speaker 5: That's what I really loved about this show is I
[1:56:07] Speaker 5: love to see y'all come on here and talk about it.
[1:56:09] Speaker 5: You showed up with your cowboy jerseys on and y'all here.
[1:56:13] Speaker 1: But I don't hear that shit now. That shit is
[1:56:17] Speaker 1: just a sniffle.
[1:56:18] Speaker 4: It's Broncos time right now.
[1:56:22] Speaker 5: I need a little bit of accountability when it comes
[1:56:25] Speaker 5: down to trademark Micah Parsons in which y'all defend it.
[1:56:29] Speaker 1: Say it was a great move. I did. But if
[1:56:32] Speaker 1: Mike don't get hurt, guess who might be winning.
[1:56:34] Speaker 2: The Super Bowl this year?
[1:56:36] Speaker 4: You sound like me.
[1:56:38] Speaker 1: Wait a second. What happened the last time Philadelphia played Dallas?
[1:56:41] Speaker 2: What happened then? I mean, all I remember is this.
[1:56:43] Speaker 5: The last time Philadelphia did anything was win the championship.
[1:56:47] Speaker 4: All I remember is that team right there was about
[1:56:49] Speaker 4: 9-1 in one score games.
[1:56:51] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:56:51] Speaker 2: That team right there. But you see what this is, though?
[1:56:54] Speaker 5: Something that the Dallas Cowboys hasn't reached since 1996.
[1:56:57] Speaker 1: How did you get that? Don't worry about it.
[1:56:59] Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
[1:57:00] Speaker 1: Don't you worry about it.
[1:57:01] Speaker 4: You can order that replica from Kate Jewelry.
[1:57:02] Speaker 1: You can do a lot of shit when you're a fan.
[1:57:05] Speaker 1: When you're a fan, you can do a.
[1:57:06] Speaker 4: Lot of shit.
[1:57:07] Speaker 2: It's available to the public.
[1:57:08] Speaker 5: But guess what you can't do as a Dallas Cowboys fan?
[1:57:13] Speaker 2: You can't do this. And you ain't been able to
[1:57:15] Speaker 2: do it in three decades.
[1:57:17] Speaker 1: Okay, all I know is that this year's Cowboys, in
[1:57:19] Speaker 1: a four-day span leading up to Thanksgiving, beat last year's
[1:57:22] Speaker 1: Super Bowl teams back-to-back. That's all I know.
[1:57:25] Speaker 7: And what are they going to be doing in January?
[1:57:27] Speaker 4: We smacked last year's Super Bowl team twice.
[1:57:28] Speaker 1: What are they going to be doing in January? Waiting
[1:57:30] Speaker 1: until next year. Waiting until next year.
[1:57:34] Speaker 5: I just wanted to, just before we quit, to y'all
[1:57:36] Speaker 5: just get in the bag all collectively because the Dallas
[1:57:39] Speaker 5: Cowboys ain't never going to be shit.
[1:57:41] Speaker 4: Cowboys going to be nice next year.
[1:57:42] Speaker 5: Karma is everything. Jerry's got Jerry's karma written all over it.
[1:57:47] Speaker 5: You can't do Zeke like that. Can't do Dez like that.
[1:57:50] Speaker 5: Can't do Tony Romo.
[1:57:51] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[1:57:52] Speaker 5: You can't do none of your guys like that and
[1:57:54] Speaker 5: think you're going to still come in here and get
[1:57:56] Speaker 5: something from the basketball or the football gods.
[1:57:59] Speaker 2: They don't bless you like that. So speaking of football,
[1:58:02] Speaker 2: who is your team?
[1:58:03] Speaker 1: Where you from? What you mean? No, no, no, no, no.
[1:58:05] Speaker 1: Ain't where you from. It's where you at.
[1:58:06] Speaker 2: Yeah, no. Ain't where you from.
[1:58:08] Speaker 1: It's where you at.
[1:58:08] Speaker 2: The nigga came from Carolina.
[1:58:11] Speaker 5: I'm not from Carolina at all. I'm from a planet
[1:58:15] Speaker 5: called Nibiru. Yeah, he from around the surrounding area of Nibiru.
[1:58:18] Speaker 1: I'm from a planet called Nibiru. I'm from a planet
[1:58:21] Speaker 1: called the universe.
[1:58:22] Speaker 2: I asked about them teams. I'm a solar system type
[1:58:25] Speaker 2: of nigga.
[1:58:25] Speaker 1: You hear me?
[1:58:26] Speaker 5: That's my man in them rings they got from the
[1:58:28] Speaker 5: area that he from.
[1:58:29] Speaker 1: You hear me?
[1:58:29] Speaker 4: He probably had a Cam jersey on when we looked
[1:58:33] Speaker 4: at him.
[1:58:34] Speaker 5: Listen, all I know is the Cowboys and the energy
[1:58:37] Speaker 5: y'all always had, y'all always thought about every year, entire turn,
[1:58:42] Speaker 5: entire year.
[1:58:42] Speaker 1: Shout out to Berenson Edwards.
[1:58:44] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's my guy who thought that the Cowboys every
[1:58:47] Speaker 5: year is going to do the same shit.
[1:58:48] Speaker 2: I had to keep telling him, man. Cowboys going to.
[1:58:52] Speaker 1: Be the Cowboys. We do have five Super Bowl trophies.
[1:58:55] Speaker 1: How many do you have, Eagles?
[1:58:57] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[1:58:58] Speaker 7: We have two in the recent, in the last 10 years.
[1:59:01] Speaker 2: How many years? Ten.
[1:59:02] Speaker 5: No, go for more than that. We have two in
[1:59:05] Speaker 5: the last 10 years. Adds another zero to that. What
[1:59:08] Speaker 5: you mean another zero?
[1:59:09] Speaker 2: To that ten.
[1:59:10] Speaker 6: Ten.
[1:59:11] Speaker 5: No, I said we, the Philadelphia Eagles. And their existence, though.
[1:59:14] Speaker 5: I'm talking about the last 10.
[1:59:16] Speaker 2: But their existence, since you've been a fan.
[1:59:18] Speaker 1: 10.
[1:59:20] Speaker 2: I've been a fan in 10 years and won two. Oh,
[1:59:22] Speaker 2: you just. But 10 years ago, he was a Carolina fan.
[1:59:25] Speaker 5: You guys have been fans for 40 plus years, and
[1:59:28] Speaker 5: you ain't seen shit in 30.
[1:59:29] Speaker 2: We ain't jumped on nobody's bandwagon. You ain't seen shit
[1:59:31] Speaker 2: in 30, though. We ain't jumped on nobody's bandwagon. He
[1:59:33] Speaker 2: ain't seen an NFC championship in how long?
[1:59:35] Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
[1:59:36] Speaker 2: God damn.
[1:59:36] Speaker 1: 30. That's embarrassing. But I just wanted to talk some shit.
[1:59:40] Speaker 2: That's all.
[1:59:41] Speaker 1: Because I got Skip here. You deserve it. And this
[1:59:44] Speaker 1: is Gil's arena. And Skip, welcome you to the bag.
[1:59:47] Speaker 5: He ain't got no fucking team, so he don't deserve it.
[1:59:49] Speaker 1: Gotta welcome you to the bag, Skip. He like the Panthers.
[1:59:51] Speaker 2: Y'all might go to playoffs. He ain't got no team. Josiah,
[1:59:54] Speaker 2: who I pick? Just pick the team.
[1:59:55] Speaker 1: Who I pick?
[1:59:56] Speaker 2: Who I say? This team, I'm picking them because they boop, boop, boop.
[1:59:59] Speaker 1: Wait, Akeem, what did you guys do to Cam Newton
[2:00:02] Speaker 1: in a Super Bowl?
[2:00:03] Speaker 4: Beat the shit out of him.
[2:00:04] Speaker 2: Breaks off of this.
[2:00:06] Speaker 1: Beat the shit out of him.
[2:00:08] Speaker 2: That's probably you.
[2:00:09] Speaker 4: You probably stopped being a fan from that day.
[2:00:12] Speaker 5: When Cam started wearing rompers and shit is when I stopped.
[2:00:16] Speaker 5: I'm not doing the rompers and shit. When he's doing that,
[2:00:19] Speaker 5: I can't. But he MVP when I was rolling MVP.
[2:00:21] Speaker 4: Yeah, of course he was.
[2:00:23] Speaker 2: It's Cam Newton. I've been rolling with him since he
[2:00:25] Speaker 2: was in fucking Florida. But after that, it was like,
[2:00:29] Speaker 2: God damn, man.
[2:00:29] Speaker 4: Back to the point, though, Josiah.
[2:00:31] Speaker 2: Man, listen.
[2:00:32] Speaker 4: You had those games where you're like, all right, we
[2:00:34] Speaker 4: playing a bad team, bad quarterback. Bunch of distractions, Thanksgiving week,
[2:00:39] Speaker 4: Christmas week. Like, bro, we've been Christmas shopping.
[2:00:41] Speaker 2: Getting gifts.
[2:00:42] Speaker 4: Getting gifts, you feel me? We doing that. We got
[2:00:44] Speaker 4: plans for when we get home.
[2:00:45] Speaker 1: All the dudes playing got nannies.
[2:00:48] Speaker 2: It won't hurt none of that.
[2:00:50] Speaker 1: Exactly.
[2:00:51] Speaker 2: The fact remains that at one point in that game,
[2:00:53] Speaker 2: y'all was down 10. Y'all was losing at one point
[2:00:55] Speaker 2: in that game. To a really bad team.
[2:00:58] Speaker 4: It don't matter.
[2:00:58] Speaker 2: Now it don't matter. Now it don't matter.
[2:01:03] Speaker 4: Like, bro, if you following it on your app, it's like, ooh,
[2:01:07] Speaker 4: they losing. Like, if you really watch the game.
[2:01:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, if I can't watch and I look at this goal,
[2:01:11] Speaker 2: I'm like, ooh, shit, they about to.
[2:01:12] Speaker 4: But if you really watch the game, you'll be like, man,
[2:01:14] Speaker 4: how the fuck is it not 40 to 10? Like,
[2:01:18] Speaker 4: we really.
[2:01:18] Speaker 2: Beat the shit out of them.
[2:01:19] Speaker 5: But what's the answer to that? What's the answer to how,
[2:01:21] Speaker 5: why is it not 40? So this team ain't as good?
[2:01:25] Speaker 5: They're not as good as we think?
[2:01:27] Speaker 4: Nah, it don't got nothing to do with that. It's football, brother.
[2:01:30] Speaker 4: It's football just a little bit.
[2:01:32] Speaker 2: What's y'all running game like?
[2:01:33] Speaker 1: Solid.
[2:01:34] Speaker 4: It's cool.
[2:01:35] Speaker 2: Our starting running back hurt, though.
[2:01:37] Speaker 4: Our starting running back hurt, but.
[2:01:39] Speaker 2: The young one will get it done. Because you got
[2:01:40] Speaker 2: to do what in the playoffs?
[2:01:41] Speaker 4: Got to tote it, play defense.
[2:01:42] Speaker 2: Right?
[2:01:43] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[2:01:43] Speaker 2: Y'all do that well.
[2:01:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, of course. Hey, listen.
[2:01:45] Speaker 2: Defense, y'all leading the league. We had 100-plus yards yesterday.
[2:01:49] Speaker 5: They lead the league in sacks. No, they defense like that.
[2:01:51] Speaker 5: With the Patrick Mahomes out there.
[2:01:52] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[2:01:53] Speaker 2: We already did. Hey, listen.
[2:01:55] Speaker 4: We already did.
[2:01:56] Speaker 5: One thing for sure, two things for sure. They get
[2:01:59] Speaker 5: after the quarterback.
[2:02:01] Speaker 4: And we ain't do that yesterday.
[2:02:02] Speaker 2: Y'all do that? That's what we did. One sack. Because
[2:02:06] Speaker 2: guess what he was doing?
[2:02:08] Speaker 1: One dump.
[2:02:09] Speaker 2: One dump.
[2:02:10] Speaker 1: One dump.
[2:02:11] Speaker 2: He was getting that bitch out of his hands. Same thing. Yeah.
[2:02:14] Speaker 3: So, quickly, you talked about the Eagles shots. One of
[2:02:16] Speaker 3: the biggest matches of the weekend, Eagles visit the Bills
[2:02:19] Speaker 3: in Buffalo. Also big for a couple of members on
[2:02:21] Speaker 3: this particular couch today. So, Keith, fill us in on
[2:02:23] Speaker 3: what the bet is that you and Skip have on
[2:02:26] Speaker 3: the Eagles-Bills game.
[2:02:28] Speaker 1: You remember it?
[2:02:29] Speaker 4: Of course. I cannot forget. It's at dinner with $ 1, 000 minimum.
[2:02:35] Speaker 1: Damn. Damn.
[2:02:37] Speaker 4: Ain't no regular love. This ain't no Chipotle type shit.
[2:02:42] Speaker 1: That's a $ 600 bottle of wine kind of dinner, right?
[2:02:46] Speaker 5: That's a $ 600 bottle of wine kind of a dinner.
[2:02:50] Speaker 4: We're going to get dressed and shit. But shit, I'd
[2:02:53] Speaker 4: like Philly to go get that.
[2:02:54] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? In Buffalo? In Buffalo.
[2:02:57] Speaker 1: If Philly going to be.
[2:02:59] Speaker 4: Who we think they is, They're a big game winning team.
[2:03:02] Speaker 4: This is a big game. They lost their last two
[2:03:05] Speaker 4: big games. Then they struck two little trash opponents to
[2:03:09] Speaker 4: beat the shit out of them. Kind of got that
[2:03:11] Speaker 4: mojo back. But this is a big game. You want
[2:03:13] Speaker 4: to win a game like this going into the playoffs.
[2:03:16] Speaker 4: And if Philly is who I think they is, you
[2:03:18] Speaker 4: know what I'm saying? NFC chip appearance again this year.
[2:03:21] Speaker 1: Okay.
[2:03:22] Speaker 4: Then they got to go get this. They got the
[2:03:23] Speaker 4: D-line to contain Josh. That's what you got to have
[2:03:26] Speaker 4: with Josh. You got to have fast, smart edges.
[2:03:29] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[2:03:30] Speaker 4: The Eagles deep. They D-line deep. They got the right
[2:03:33] Speaker 4: makeup to look at Buffalo. So I think it's a
[2:03:37] Speaker 4: good matchup for them boys. I think they go get this, man,
[2:03:39] Speaker 4: because they need a big win going into these playoffs.
[2:03:43] Speaker 2: Skip, were you making the key take you to dinner
[2:03:45] Speaker 2: if you win the bet?
[2:03:48] Speaker 1: That's a good question. I would say somewhere in Beverly Hills.
[2:03:53] Speaker 1: Of course.
[2:03:54] Speaker 2: They got an IHOP unlimited pancake.
[2:03:57] Speaker 1: We can do IHOP. $ 1, 000 worth of pancakes.
[2:03:59] Speaker 2: Let's diabolical.
[2:04:01] Speaker 1: Bring us some gold on there. You ain't never been
[2:04:02] Speaker 1: to Sizzler? I've been to Sizzler. I grew up at Sizzler.
[2:04:06] Speaker 2: You're a good man. Sizzler. The fact that Sizzler is
[2:04:10] Speaker 2: still open.
[2:04:11] Speaker 1: Why are you saying it like that?
[2:04:13] Speaker 2: Because everything else is folded. Salad bar.
[2:04:17] Speaker 5: My point is that there's a Sizzler and.
[2:04:20] Speaker 2: Chaz was by my house and I was over there
[2:04:21] Speaker 2: the other day. I was like, I'm still open.
[2:04:24] Speaker 1: You're worried the whole damn week.
[2:04:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, this is love we gonna.
[2:04:28] Speaker 5: See Yeah, we was good.
[2:04:37] Speaker 1: Oh We made this bet when I told you that
[2:04:41] Speaker 1: That Buffalo would beat the Eagles, but I thought delusionally
[2:04:44] Speaker 1: at that point. This is like a month ago. I
[2:04:46] Speaker 1: I thought the Cowboys would catch the Eagles in the East.
[2:04:49] Speaker 1: I thought they could win out. So this is a
[2:04:52] Speaker 1: game that I thought the Eagles definitely would lose at Buffalo.
[2:04:56] Speaker 1: And I still like them to lose at Buffalo because
[2:04:59] Speaker 1: since then, I watched the Eagles the Friday after Thanksgiving
[2:05:03] Speaker 1: at home against the Bears give up 281 rushing yards.
[2:05:07] Speaker 1: Remember that?
[2:05:07] Speaker 2: No, we don't remember that. We don't remember that at all.
[2:05:10] Speaker 1: I do. And I watched the Eagles the last two
[2:05:13] Speaker 1: Sundays get right, get healthy. on the Raiders and the Commanders,
[2:05:18] Speaker 1: which left the Commanders. We could barely beat the Commanders yesterday.
[2:05:23] Speaker 1: But the point is, James Cook now leads the league
[2:05:25] Speaker 1: in rushing, quietly off radar. He leads the league in rushing.
[2:05:30] Speaker 1: Josh Allen obviously leads all quarterbacks in rushing. They are
[2:05:34] Speaker 1: going to run the ball down Philly's throat in this game.
[2:05:38] Speaker 1: And Philly is Again, you can rip Buffalo's defense, but
[2:05:42] Speaker 1: they just make plays. They bend, but they don't break.
[2:05:45] Speaker 1: They make plays. Big, experienced plays. And Philly is 21st
[2:05:51] Speaker 1: in scoring. They just can't score. So how are they
[2:05:56] Speaker 1: going to score a lot of points at Buffalo? Buffalo's
[2:05:59] Speaker 1: going to score. I got it 30-24. I'll give Philly
[2:06:01] Speaker 1: a point.
[2:06:02] Speaker 4: They've been scoring a lot of points these last few weeks, though.
[2:06:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's true. You think it's going to be a
[2:06:08] Speaker 1: high-powered game?
[2:06:09] Speaker 2: I think it's going to be a low-scoring game. I
[2:06:10] Speaker 2: think it's going to be field goals. Field goals in
[2:06:15] Speaker 2: the cold.
[2:06:15] Speaker 4: Mid in the cold, like 24-17.
[2:06:18] Speaker 2: 13-10. That's very low.
[2:06:20] Speaker 5: 13-10. I think defenses show up. Both sides. Defenses show up,
[2:06:26] Speaker 5: run the stop. If we know what you just said
[2:06:29] Speaker 5: about both sides, about Josh Allen being able to run
[2:06:31] Speaker 5: the ball the way he does, knowing to drop back
[2:06:34] Speaker 5: and it's going to be cold. knowing that Cook is
[2:06:36] Speaker 5: going to run the ball, Carter's going to have to
[2:06:39] Speaker 5: show up. We have to show up. Our guys got
[2:06:40] Speaker 5: to show up, right? Knowing that the game plan is
[2:06:44] Speaker 5: to force us to stop the run so that Josh
[2:06:47] Speaker 5: can actually run and throw. Now, if we can do that,
[2:06:50] Speaker 5: I think we slow down their scoring, but on our
[2:06:53] Speaker 5: side of scoring.
[2:06:55] Speaker 1: I don't think Jalen.
[2:06:58] Speaker 5: With Brown and Smith has ever been throughout this whole
[2:07:01] Speaker 5: season on the same accord. And I don't think Shaquan
[2:07:05] Speaker 5: has ever The new OC, I don't like him. I
[2:07:09] Speaker 5: ain't liked him from the start because he's changed the
[2:07:11] Speaker 5: whole offense. So being able to run the way we
[2:07:14] Speaker 5: ran last year is nonexistent. So if you think about
[2:07:19] Speaker 5: us running the ball against them, trust Zalen Hurts' arm
[2:07:23] Speaker 5: in the snow against a top defense. we are going
[2:07:26] Speaker 5: to have even more trouble scoring the ball. But I
[2:07:28] Speaker 5: think we can get down the field. I think we
[2:07:30] Speaker 5: can get past the 50-yard line, get some good quick
[2:07:34] Speaker 5: field goals that can sustain the game, hold us accountable
[2:07:38] Speaker 5: to playing defense and stopping them when it matters.
[2:07:41] Speaker 2: But what do I know?
[2:07:42] Speaker 5: I'm just a guy that likes Philly. But I'm just saying.
[2:07:47] Speaker 5: If they can make it a low-scoring game, we got
[2:07:49] Speaker 5: a chance to win. And at any point that they
[2:07:52] Speaker 5: start scoring at a high clip, like you're saying, a
[2:07:54] Speaker 5: 20-plus point game, we don't have a chance.
[2:07:58] Speaker 1: Buffalo's won four straight. You're not afraid? I can see
[2:08:01] Speaker 1: it in your eyes. You're a little afraid. Not at all.
[2:08:05] Speaker 4: That's what they do. You know how Buffalo do. They
[2:08:07] Speaker 4: win a big game, then they flop. You know what
[2:08:10] Speaker 4: I'm saying? That's their MO all season.
[2:08:13] Speaker 1: So I'll do stake 48. All right.
[2:08:17] Speaker 2: Shout out to you. I ain't been there. You been
[2:08:19] Speaker 2: there before?
[2:08:19] Speaker 1: I ain't been there.

[2:08:37] Speaker 2: The premium. Premium?

[2:08:40] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
