The NBA Playoff's WILD Weekend LIGHTS UP Gil's Arena as the Gil's Arena Crew reacts to the NBA Finals shaping up as the New York Knicks punched their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 and the San Antonio Spurs got back on track by evening up the series against the OKC Thunder and pushed the Western Conference Finals into a best of 3 game series. They tip things off by breaking down Games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference finals and discuss how Victor Wembanyama is changing his game to counter the hostile strategy from the Thunder before debating if Shai Gilgeous Alexander is being officiated fairly during this series as the NBA MVP has yet to show up in a big way against the Spurs. They also react to Chet Holmgren being held in check by his rival the alien and debate if the Thunder will bounce back with such little help for SGA as Chet, Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell have all struggled to stay on the court. Next, they react to the New York Knicks finishing off the sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers to advance to the NBA Finals and debate where this Knicks' playoff run ranks all time as New York has glided through the NBA Playoffs, ripping off 11 straight wins since going down 2-1 to the Atlanta Hawks. They also discuss where Jalen Brunson sits amongst New York Knicks legends as the superstar point guard put the city on his back and debate if the team should be considered bigger contenders for the NBA Title as they rest up and wait for the Spurs and Thunder. They also break down what went wrong for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they went out sorry and debate if the team should blow it up after James Harden & Donovan Mitchell proved they do not have enough juice to overcome the best in the East. Finally, they react to the announcement of the All NBA Teams and debate who were the biggest winners and losers in the league's placement of their top 15 players. [0:02] Speaker 1: Welcome back to Gil's Arena presented by Underdog.
[0:05] Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa. Whoa, whoa.
[0:08] Speaker 1: Glorious Tuesday, Memorial Day weekend. Swaggy back. Ni hao, Swaggy.
[0:17] Speaker 2: Ni hao.
[0:18] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[0:22] Speaker 2: Mana, mana, mana.
[0:24] Speaker 1: Okay. What's she, she need? But this is Gills Reader
[0:29] Speaker 1: presented by Underdog. I'm merely a host, Josiah Johnson. We
[0:32] Speaker 1: got one of the biggest legends in the sports media game,
[0:33] Speaker 1: Skip Bayless, back in the building with us. After being
[0:40] Speaker 1: gone for several, several days. Yeah. In the far east
[0:43] Speaker 1: corner of the world, making his return back from China,
[0:46] Speaker 1: we got NBA champion of the world, Swaggy P, Nick Young.
[0:51] Speaker 2: I went to the same place when we went to.
[0:55] Speaker 1: You were with the Monks?
[0:56] Speaker 2: Yeah. I was up there.
[0:58] Speaker 1: Darkness retreats?
[0:59] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[0:59] Speaker 1: Dribbling balls through the temples and all that kind of stuff?
[1:05] Speaker 2: I've seen the spots. I was going to go ball
[1:08] Speaker 2: like he did, but they say you have to be
[1:11] Speaker 2: there for a certain amount of time.
[1:13] Speaker 1: Okay. So you didn't hit that threshold? Yeah. It was
[1:16] Speaker 1: a lot. We're going to talk about your time in
[1:18] Speaker 1: China in just a moment, but on this side of
[1:20] Speaker 1: the couch, representing a tough crowd and a car-carrying country
[1:23] Speaker 1: club member, we got Mr. B, Brandon Jennings. And last
[1:29] Speaker 1: but not least, the man they call Cemetery Larry, NCAA
[1:32] Speaker 1: Champion of the World, Dr. Rashad McCants, PhD. Go Spurs, go.
[1:39] Speaker 2: That was easy.
[1:40] Speaker 1: Still just 2-2 though.
[1:40] Speaker 2: That was easy.
[1:43] Speaker 1: Oh, the double. We try new shit every day. Ian,
[1:47] Speaker 1: my man. That's my man. Shout out to Ian, Carlos, Sebastian,
[1:51] Speaker 1: rest of the crew in the back. Making things crack.
[1:54] Speaker 1: We got a lot to get into today. Here's what's
[1:56] Speaker 1: cracking in Gil's arena. So Spurs even things up with
[2:00] Speaker 1: their Game 4 win over the Thunder. But which squad
[2:03] Speaker 1: is taking the pivotal Game 5? Winners of Game 5
[2:07] Speaker 1: win the series tied 2-2. Going to win the series
[2:10] Speaker 1: nearly 82% of the time. We will discuss that. New
[2:13] Speaker 1: York in the finals for the first time this century
[2:17] Speaker 1: after sweeping their second straight series. Is it time to
[2:20] Speaker 1: stop sleeping on these Knicks? A lot of people don't
[2:22] Speaker 1: think they have a chance in the finals. They think
[2:25] Speaker 1: the winner of the Spurs and Thunder series will go
[2:26] Speaker 1: on to get the ring. We will discuss. And all
[2:29] Speaker 1: NBA teams dropped this weekend. But did the voters get
[2:33] Speaker 1: it right? Some of those people are on the team.
[2:36] Speaker 1: Some are not. We will get into that. But before
[2:40] Speaker 1: we do, as always, this show is brought to you
[2:42] Speaker 1: by Underdog. Underdog available in most states, including Texas, California,

[3:08] Speaker 1: that's for you to boost as the other one ended prematurely.
[3:12] Speaker 1: But if you can't watch the show live with us
[3:14] Speaker 1: on YouTube, we got audio versions available on Apple, Spotify,
[3:16] Speaker 1: wherever you get your podcast from. So Swaggy, very excited
[3:20] Speaker 1: to have you back in the country, in the mainland.
[3:24] Speaker 1: You're getting yourself into all types of things across the world,
[3:29] Speaker 1: in the far east corner of the world. The average
[3:31] Speaker 1: human being don't have time to travel that far, but
[3:33] Speaker 1: you have basketball camps, a journey for black and mild.
[3:37] Speaker 1: A spiritual black and mild quest.
[3:38] Speaker 2: I found some.
[3:39] Speaker 1: You found some?
[3:39] Speaker 2: They were just called black.
[3:41] Speaker 1: No mild. No mild.
[3:42] Speaker 2: Okay.
[3:43] Speaker 1: Just some black. You also did some fishing. Let's take
[3:47] Speaker 1: a look at that if we can. You in the water.
[3:53] Speaker 2: What?
[3:54] Speaker 1: Decided to dunk a fish.
[3:59] Speaker 2: What type of water is that?
[4:01] Speaker 1: What color is that water?
[4:03] Speaker 2: We were saving water. It was like oil and stuff.
[4:07] Speaker 2: You were saving the water? I mean, we were saving
[4:09] Speaker 2: the fish. I was trying to save them. Trying to
[4:12] Speaker 2: get them out the oil as fast as I can.
[4:14] Speaker 1: And put them back into the oil. Looks like bath water.
[4:17] Speaker 1: Definitely like old bath water.
[4:19] Speaker 3: Don't look sad.
[4:20] Speaker 2: They asked me, do I want to go fishing, really?
[4:24] Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, man. And I got there.
[4:28] Speaker 2: And they would send me out to pick it up
[4:29] Speaker 2: and grab the fish ourselves. I thought we was going
[4:32] Speaker 2: to go regular fishing. But they drain the river just
[4:36] Speaker 2: deep enough where you can grab them and the fish
[4:38] Speaker 2: can't go nowhere.
[4:39] Speaker 1: Barehanded fishing?
[4:40] Speaker 2: Drain the river. And we had to sell that fish.
[4:43] Speaker 2: I had to sell it to the locals out there.
[4:45] Speaker 3: How much?
[4:48] Speaker 2: Free. I just gave it to them. Ain't no sale.
[4:55] Speaker 1: Just take this. Go ahead and take it, man. Ain't
[4:57] Speaker 1: no telling what's in this shit. Don't blame me.
[5:02] Speaker 2: You get sick, you get sick. You got it for free.
[5:05] Speaker 1: What kind of.
[5:05] Speaker 2: Fish was it? That's what I was a little worried about.
[5:10] Speaker 2: I thought, like, do they bite? Because, you know, you
[5:12] Speaker 2: got to grab this big ass. Somebody had a fish
[5:15] Speaker 2: like this big. Catfish is in there.
[5:19] Speaker 1: Bear back in the fish. Had some catfish. Catfish?
[5:22] Speaker 2: A little trout.
[5:24] Speaker 3: A little trout.
[5:26] Speaker 1: You ain't no snow fish with no snow fish over there?
[5:29] Speaker 2: Nah.
[5:31] Speaker 1: No snow fish.
[5:34] Speaker 2: Puffer fish? They have a puffer fish? Puffer fish. A
[5:36] Speaker 2: little puffer fish.
[5:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
[5:37] Speaker 2: It got a little tang to it. A little tang tang. Yeah,
[5:42] Speaker 2: a little puffer. You can't puff on a puffer now.
[5:45] Speaker 1: But on a good trip in China, Swanky? Yeah.
[5:48] Speaker 2: Those are my peoples out there.
[5:50] Speaker 1: Okay. I'm mixed with a little Chinese. You were mixed
[5:54] Speaker 1: with a little bit.
[5:56] Speaker 2: He said he was eating duck. He said he was
[5:57] Speaker 2: eating duck, rabbit. They had squirrel head. They popped the
[6:02] Speaker 2: squirrel head up.
[6:03] Speaker 1: You got to get the tongue.
[6:04] Speaker 2: Fire.
[6:05] Speaker 1: Eat the cheeks. Eat the cheeks.
[6:06] Speaker 2: Fire.
[6:07] Speaker 1: Fire.
[6:09] Speaker 3: Roll that shit around on the table.
[6:10] Speaker 1: Roll it around.
[6:11] Speaker 2: Okay.
[6:11] Speaker 1: Bring it on. Just give me the rice. Thank you.
[6:15] Speaker 1: A little soy sauce. I'm right over here.
[6:18] Speaker 2: I'm going to give you the chicken.
[6:19] Speaker 1: Cut the head.
[6:19] Speaker 2: Put the head right there.
[6:20] Speaker 3: Put the duck head right there. Let's go.
[6:22] Speaker 1: Got some sriracha on there.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Chicken feet snacks. A little sriracha on there.
[6:25] Speaker 1: We're good. We're good to go. Well, Swaggy, good to
[6:28] Speaker 1: have you back in the country and back on this couch.
[6:31] Speaker 1: So we're going to talk about the Knicks making their
[6:32] Speaker 1: first NBA finals since 1999 in just a few. But
[6:36] Speaker 1: let's start in the West with the more competitive conference finals.
[6:39] Speaker 1: Game three saw the Spurs jump out to a 15-0 lead.
[6:43] Speaker 1: which was the longest run to open a conference finals
[6:45] Speaker 1: game in the play-by-play era, but the Thunder responded with
[6:48] Speaker 1: a 58-36 run, take a seven-point lead at the break,
[6:51] Speaker 1: never looked back. SGA went scoreless in the first quarter
[6:55] Speaker 1: and free-throwless in the first half, still finished with 26
[6:58] Speaker 1: points and 12 assists. He was 12 for 12 from
[7:00] Speaker 1: the line in the second half. Jared McCain led a
[7:03] Speaker 1: dominant performance by the Thunder bench, putting up a playoff high,
[7:05] Speaker 1: 24 points. Thunder were without Jalen Williams, who missed the
[7:09] Speaker 1: game with left hamstring soreness, but the other Jalen Williams
[7:12] Speaker 1: had 18 points Alex Caruso added 15. OKC's bench outscored
[7:16] Speaker 1: San Antonio 76-23. Thunder won their second straight following their
[7:21] Speaker 1: double overtime loss in Game 1, took a 2-1 series lead.
[7:24] Speaker 1: After that game, Wimby said he had trouble making his
[7:27] Speaker 1: teammates better, needed to be more of a team player,
[7:30] Speaker 1: and Greg Popovich came into the locker room right after
[7:33] Speaker 1: the game for the first time this season, lit the
[7:36] Speaker 1: squad up with some choice words. get them back on track.
[7:39] Speaker 1: Spurs hadn't lost three straight games all season. Sunday they
[7:42] Speaker 1: made sure that streak continued. Let's take a look at
[7:44] Speaker 1: the highlights if we can please. So Spurs put together
[7:48] Speaker 1: a defensive masterclass in this one. Wimby opened the game
[7:53] Speaker 1: with a three-pointer. Thunder were once again without Jalen Williams.
[7:56] Speaker 1: We're also missing A.J. Mitchell as well. Game was back
[8:00] Speaker 1: and forth. Early on, as Isaiah Hardenstein hit four straight
[8:02] Speaker 1: floaters to pace the Thunder, but then the Spurs went
[8:05] Speaker 1: on a 16-0 run to take a 15-point lead with
[8:08] Speaker 1: just over four minutes remaining in the first frame. Thunder
[8:12] Speaker 1: closed the gap, trailing by nine, heading into the second quarter.
[8:17] Speaker 1: Wimby scored or assisted on 17 of San Antonio's 28
[8:20] Speaker 1: first-quarter points. Both teams struggled to find their offense in
[8:23] Speaker 1: the second quarter, combining for just 41 points in the frame.
[8:27] Speaker 1: Thunder cut the deficit to five points with a little
[8:29] Speaker 1: over a minute remaining, but then the Spurs went on
[8:32] Speaker 1: a 7-0 run as Wimby finished the first half with
[8:36] Speaker 1: a bang, as you see right here, pulling up from
[8:38] Speaker 1: half court, the longest shot of his career. Spurs continued
[8:44] Speaker 1: to pile it on in the third quarter, leading by
[8:46] Speaker 1: as much as 25 points, carried an 18-point lead. into
[8:50] Speaker 1: the final frame. Wimby finished with 33 points, eight boards,
[8:53] Speaker 1: five assists, and three blocks. Alien was 11 for 22
[8:56] Speaker 1: from the field, eight for nine from the line, also
[8:58] Speaker 1: a game high plus 29. Devin Vassell and Stephon Castle
[9:03] Speaker 1: each had 13 points, combining for nine rebounds and nine assists.
[9:06] Speaker 1: Castle committed just one turnover for the second straight game
[9:09] Speaker 1: after having 20 in the first two games of the series,
[9:12] Speaker 1: while Darren Fox added 12 points, 10 boards, and five assists.
[9:16] Speaker 1: SGA was held to just 19 points on six of
[9:19] Speaker 1: 15 shooting. It was his first time scoring less than
[9:21] Speaker 1: 20 points in this series, and all but one of
[9:24] Speaker 1: his 15 field goal attempts were contested as the Spurs'
[9:27] Speaker 1: defense smothered the back-to-back MVP. Isaiah Hardenstein added 12 and
[9:31] Speaker 1: 7 boards, and Chet Holmgren had 10 and 9 rebounds.
[9:34] Speaker 1: Spurs held the Thunder their season lows of 82 points
[9:37] Speaker 1: on 33% shooting, including 6 of 33 from 3. Spurs'
[9:38] Speaker 1: offense wasn't much better. They shot 39%, 27% from distance,
[9:41] Speaker 1: but San Antonio, plus 12 in points off turnovers, plus
[9:48] Speaker 1: 11 in fast break points and plus 14 in points
[9:51] Speaker 1: in the paint. Now the series shifts back to OKC
[9:54] Speaker 1: for game five in what is now a best of
[9:56] Speaker 1: three series. Here was the reaction from both sides after
[9:59] Speaker 1: the game.
[10:00] Speaker 4: We didn't do nothing unexpected, but the truth is that
[10:04] Speaker 4: we had never been in this kind of situation before.
[10:07] Speaker 4: It was our first deficit in a playoff series and
[10:11] Speaker 4: we just responded, but it was nothing amazing.
[10:14] Speaker 1: It wasn't magic.
[10:16] Speaker 4: We just did what we needed to do and The
[10:19] Speaker 4: series is far from over. We got six more wins
[10:21] Speaker 4: before we can rest.
[10:23] Speaker 5: Yeah, they just punched us in our face early. It's
[10:27] Speaker 5: two games in a row they've come out the aggressors.
[10:29] Speaker 5: Last game we were able to course correct. Tonight, we
[10:32] Speaker 5: just didn't do so. Yeah, we just got to do
[10:37] Speaker 5: a better job of starting the games. Obviously, it's a
[10:39] Speaker 5: little bit more challenging when you're on the road, and
[10:40] Speaker 5: we know that. But we got to go out there
[10:43] Speaker 5: and do it if we want to win games, especially
[10:46] Speaker 5: against a team that good.
[10:48] Speaker 1: So this is the first time Thunder failed to score
[10:51] Speaker 1: 90 points in the game since 2022. Skip, biggest takeaways
[10:54] Speaker 1: from the Spurs game four win in the Western Conference Finals.
[11:04] Speaker 6: I fear I'm about to be in Larry's cemetery. Just
[11:10] Speaker 6: to reiterate, I did pick Thunder in seven. And I
[11:18] Speaker 6: posted immediately after game four a confession that bordered upon
[11:26] Speaker 6: a concession because I've got little to no chance without
[11:33] Speaker 6: my second and third best scorers and more important, my
[11:37] Speaker 6: second and third best ball handlers. I'm down to one
[11:41] Speaker 6: ball handler and I'll get to him in just a moment. But,
[11:47] Speaker 6: If you take away Jalen Williams, who's gone with two
[11:53] Speaker 6: hamstring pulls, he was an all-star last year. He was
[11:58] Speaker 6: second team all-defense. And I'm going to remind you that
[12:01] Speaker 6: the Thunder last year in the conference finals, in game
[12:04] Speaker 6: three at Minnesota, lost 143 to 101. They lost by 42.
[12:09] Speaker 6: And what happened the next game, game four at Minnesota?
[12:13] Speaker 6: Jalen Williams scored 34, but SGA was able to score 40.
[12:17] Speaker 6: Because he scored 34, you had a 1-2 thunder lightning punch.
[12:25] Speaker 6: What happened in Game 5? You talked about Game 5s
[12:28] Speaker 6: always tell the tale. What happened in the NBA Finals
[12:30] Speaker 6: last year in Game 5, again, at Oklahoma City? Jalen
[12:34] Speaker 6: Williams scored 40 points. He's gone.
[12:37] Speaker 1: He's gone.
[12:39] Speaker 6: And who rose and shone against your Lakers in the
[12:42] Speaker 6: previous round, those four games? This kid, A.J. Mitchell, he's
[12:47] Speaker 6: got star quality to him. He averaged 23 a game
[12:50] Speaker 6: against the Lakers in the previous round. He's gone with
[12:55] Speaker 6: a calf pull. And my experience with calf pulls, I
[12:58] Speaker 6: don't know about you guys, but they're just bitches. Once
[13:01] Speaker 6: it goes, you're just not going to get it back
[13:03] Speaker 6: in three or four days. I'm sorry. He's gone. And
[13:08] Speaker 6: I know nobody's talking about this because nobody wants to
[13:11] Speaker 6: detract from or discredit the rise of the alien. They
[13:16] Speaker 6: want the alien to be the greatest player we've ever seen,
[13:19] Speaker 6: and I give you that off game one and game
[13:22] Speaker 6: four because he was that. But now I get to
[13:27] Speaker 6: the back-to-back MVP, Shea Gilles Alexander. If you take away
[13:32] Speaker 6: my second and third scorer and my second and third
[13:35] Speaker 6: ball handler... then SGA is going to have to bring
[13:38] Speaker 6: the ball up the floor nearly every single time. And
[13:42] Speaker 6: once he crosses half court, this is the NBA's overreaction
[13:47] Speaker 6: to the runaway internet outrage over SGA free throw merchant,
[13:52] Speaker 6: which this is just me and I'm a Thunder fan,
[13:54] Speaker 6: but I don't see it, I don't get it, but whatever.
[13:58] Speaker 6: The overreaction by the NBA is to make sure that
[14:01] Speaker 6: the referees allow Stephon Castle to to play football against
[14:06] Speaker 6: SGA at half court. Football, flat out football. He can
[14:11] Speaker 6: attack him, he can ram him, he can body bag him,
[14:15] Speaker 6: he can do whatever he wants. He can hack him
[14:17] Speaker 6: across the arms out away from the basket. And yep,
[14:22] Speaker 6: Stephon Castle's had five fouls each of the last two games,
[14:25] Speaker 6: but it should have been 25 fouls because it's every
[14:28] Speaker 6: single time. I have never witnessed anything like it. It
[14:31] Speaker 6: got so crazy last night, I tweeted, this just in,
[14:36] Speaker 6: Stephon Castle just made the Pro Bowl. The Pro Bowl
[14:40] Speaker 6: is fantastic. the NFL all-star team. That's what he just made.
[14:44] Speaker 6: He just made the Pro Bowl because he deserves to
[14:46] Speaker 6: be in the Pro Bowl. He's the reincarnation of Ronnie Lott.
[14:51] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[14:52] Speaker 6: He's just playing bully ball football on SGA. And he's
[14:56] Speaker 6: just going to get worn down. So the combination of
[14:59] Speaker 6: SGA or bust, I'm going to remind you, game one,
[15:03] Speaker 6: how quickly you forget, but game one of this series,
[15:06] Speaker 6: what happened? Jalen Williams actually played in that game. Guess
[15:09] Speaker 6: who handled the ball the most in that game for
[15:11] Speaker 6: the Thunder? Jalen Williams had it 35% of the time.
[15:13] Speaker 6: SGA had it 28% of the time. Okay, so he's
[15:18] Speaker 6: a big-time ball handler creator. He can get his own
[15:22] Speaker 6: whenever he wants to get his own. And I do
[15:24] Speaker 6: remind you, at the end of the first overtime in
[15:26] Speaker 6: Game 1, it was crucial. The last two shots were
[15:29] Speaker 6: taken and missed, but taken by Jalen Williams. That's how
[15:34] Speaker 6: big a deal he is to that basketball team that
[15:38] Speaker 6: is now having to play football. And so I... You know,
[15:42] Speaker 6: I just don't love my pick anymore. And the truth is,
[15:45] Speaker 6: I will be surprised if the Thunder win game five.
[15:49] Speaker 6: I will be surprised because the visiting team should win
[15:53] Speaker 6: game five. I'll still root. I'll still pick them. I'll
[15:56] Speaker 6: still say they'll win. But I don't know how because
[16:01] Speaker 6: they are up against it. And the Spurs are going
[16:04] Speaker 6: to come in with huge momentum. And they're going to
[16:06] Speaker 6: be smelling good. six, be over in six, go home
[16:10] Speaker 6: and take care of business. So I just don't love
[16:14] Speaker 6: what I'm seeing.
[16:19] Speaker 1: Swaggy, let's shift over to you.
[16:20] Speaker 2: Oh, man. I say the game just being physical. Like
[16:29] Speaker 2: Skip said, my man's just playing football out there, but
[16:32] Speaker 2: he is making an impact on the game.
[16:33] Speaker 1: He is.
[16:34] Speaker 2: He's having the biggest impact with Every game I see
[16:38] Speaker 2: a different poster and it's scary. But they do allow,
[16:42] Speaker 2: I feel like the NBA allows Wimmy to do whatever
[16:45] Speaker 2: he wants out there. Allow the Spurs to foul whenever
[16:50] Speaker 2: they want. I know the team, it feel like you
[16:53] Speaker 2: know who they want to win and be in the
[16:55] Speaker 2: finals for sure. And it shows from the whole series,
[17:00] Speaker 2: from the last series. the way somebody could elbow somebody
[17:04] Speaker 2: like that and nothing happens, no repercussions. So, you know,
[17:08] Speaker 2: you know who you want and they know who they want,
[17:11] Speaker 2: but OKC is under man. When you lose AJ too, um,
[17:17] Speaker 2: I feel like that hurts. It's another guy that's been
[17:22] Speaker 2: averaging 13, 14 points. He was averaging 16 at one
[17:25] Speaker 2: point during the season without J Dub. Um, And that's
[17:30] Speaker 2: just another guy that can put the ball in the hole.
[17:33] Speaker 2: I would say the way Atlanta Spurs play out there
[17:37] Speaker 2: on defense is crazy.
[17:39] Speaker 1: So Swaggy, previous series, that was the criticism of OKC.
[17:43] Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Joe.
[17:46] Speaker 2: Let me introduce this point. Please don't steal my glory moment.
[17:52] Speaker 2: Let Brandon go. Please don't steal my glow.
[17:56] Speaker 1: It just seems like there's some flippage.
[17:58] Speaker 2: There's some flip-flopping.
[17:59] Speaker 1: Some flippage and some floppage. But let's shift over to you, Mr. B.
[18:02] Speaker 1: What are your biggest takeaways from the Spurs' Game 4
[18:05] Speaker 1: win over the Thunder to tie this series up 2-2
[18:07] Speaker 1: heading back to OKC?
[18:08] Speaker 3: It was joyful, joyful. You know, they brought the nuns out.
[18:13] Speaker 3: The nuns were blessed. You know, they brought Scott Foster out.
[18:15] Speaker 1: Scott Foster was extended.
[18:17] Speaker 3: Sister Act 2 type of. atmosphere going on up in there.
[18:21] Speaker 3: A lot of joyful, joyful.
[18:22] Speaker 7: You know, what I can take away from it, OKC
[18:28] Speaker 7: didn't shoot well. SJ, he is struggling from the field.
[18:34] Speaker 7: Right now he's shooting 27% from the three. You know,
[18:38] Speaker 7: with the way Chet's playing, it's definitely making SJ have
[18:41] Speaker 7: to do a lot more.
[18:42] Speaker 3: The Spurs.
[18:45] Speaker 7: The Spurs are 11-0 during the regular season when they
[18:47] Speaker 7: hold teams under 90 and 6-0 when they hold teams
[18:50] Speaker 7: under 100 points. So that's what they did the other night.
[18:54] Speaker 7: But I got to give it to the coaching staff.
[18:57] Speaker 7: I feel like the coaching staff came in, made great adjustments,
[18:59] Speaker 7: kept Wimby away from roaming around with Caruso, keeping him
[19:05] Speaker 7: inside the paint. But, yeah, man, okay, see, I feel like,
[19:09] Speaker 7: you know, they got one.
[19:10] Speaker 3: They did what they were supposed to do.
[19:12] Speaker 7: They are down some players, but I'm not counting OKC
[19:15] Speaker 7: out of this. McCain didn't shoot well. Caruso didn't have
[19:18] Speaker 7: a good game either. He didn't shoot well either. So
[19:20] Speaker 7: those shots will fall back at home. This is a
[19:24] Speaker 7: championship team, and, you know, they are 9-0 when they
[19:27] Speaker 7: do lose a game. So, you know, I can see
[19:30] Speaker 7: them winning game five, being 10-0. So this is going
[19:32] Speaker 7: to go seven.
[19:33] Speaker 3: They're fine. And I wouldn't put too much on it.
[19:37] Speaker 1: So no Jalen Williams, no A.J. Mitchell. Mm-hmm. Game four, A.J.
[19:41] Speaker 1: Mitchell already ruled out for game five. Jalen Williams questionable,
[19:43] Speaker 1: but like we talked about these hamstring injuries can be
[19:45] Speaker 1: very tricky. The Spurs defense held the Thunder with 33%
[19:47] Speaker 1: from the field, 18% from three. Do you feel like
[19:53] Speaker 1: that's going to be an issue now heading into the
[19:54] Speaker 1: game five? Because they're locking up. I mean, both. Physicality,
[19:57] Speaker 1: whatever you want to say.
[19:58] Speaker 7: I mean, both teams did shoot well. So, at the
[20:00] Speaker 7: end of the day. So, I'm just taking it like that.
[20:02] Speaker 7: Both teams did shoot well. And McCain, he's going to
[20:04] Speaker 7: knock down shots.
[20:05] Speaker 1: So, yeah.
[20:07] Speaker 3: It was joyful, joyful.
[20:10] Speaker 1: Last but not least, our resident Spurs fan, Dr. Rashad
[20:14] Speaker 1: McCann's PhD.
[20:15] Speaker 6: That was easy.
[20:17] Speaker 1: Biggest takeaways from the Spurs game four win over the Thunder?
[20:21] Speaker 1: Memories from yesterday.
[20:24] Speaker 8: Seeing that I'm the only Spurs supporter here, you just
[20:27] Speaker 8: hear a bunch of crying and crybabies and excuses and
[20:31] Speaker 8: explaining and a bunch of shit that don't make sense
[20:34] Speaker 8: when we're going to talk hoop. We're going to talk
[20:37] Speaker 8: hoop for a second. The beginning of the season, middle
[20:41] Speaker 8: of the season, and near the tail end of the season,
[20:43] Speaker 8: like you brought up, the OKC Thunder was.
[20:45] Speaker 1: A full-on football team.
[20:48] Speaker 2: Full-on.
[20:49] Speaker 8: Everybody complained about them being a football team.
[20:53] Speaker 1: Why can they.
[20:53] Speaker 8: Play so aggressive with us on defense and we can't
[20:56] Speaker 8: touch them on offense? That was the complaint all season.
[20:59] Speaker 1: Every team. We can't guard them. But they can guard us.
[21:02] Speaker 1: They can hold us. Lou Dort is the castle. I'm
[21:07] Speaker 1: so confused.
[21:08] Speaker 8: Lou Dort is literally a Hall of Famer football player.
[21:13] Speaker 8: Castle may be Pro Bowl, but Lou Dort is a
[21:16] Speaker 8: Hall of Famer. So now that it's even, no one
[21:22] Speaker 8: likes it. Game two, Harper and Fox didn't play. Do
[21:27] Speaker 8: I remember that correctly? Two guys didn't play.
[21:31] Speaker 2: They lost that game. Then they lost game three.
[21:34] Speaker 8: There was no excuses on our part about not having
[21:37] Speaker 8: our two ball handlers. I had nine turnovers, 11 in
[21:43] Speaker 8: the first game, nine in the second game.
[21:46] Speaker 2: A total of 20.
[21:47] Speaker 8: The last two games, he has two turnovers?
[21:51] Speaker 1: Two total. Okay, that's called an adjustment.
[21:54] Speaker 8: I think I was fighting tooth and nail against two
[21:56] Speaker 8: motherfuckers on this couch. about making adjustments from the coach
[22:00] Speaker 8: and not having the player just say, no, I need
[22:03] Speaker 8: to do better.
[22:04] Speaker 2: No, we need to take the.
[22:05] Speaker 8: Ball out of your hands, allow our primary ball handlers
[22:09] Speaker 8: to handle the ball, and we're going to get better results.
[22:14] Speaker 8: Game four looked a lot better because we made an
[22:17] Speaker 8: ultimate adjustment after Greg Popovich came in and told everybody
[22:20] Speaker 8: you're playing like punks. Even Mitch Johnson, you're coaching like
[22:23] Speaker 8: a punk, Mitch. Get out of this double team shit.
[22:27] Speaker 8: Let's stop doing that. Let's stop double teaming SGA because, listen,
[22:32] Speaker 8: he can't really get by our guys like that, especially
[22:35] Speaker 8: if they play without fouling. Number one, the big adjustment
[22:39] Speaker 8: when you're talking hoop is we're now going to close
[22:43] Speaker 8: out on all of their shooters, the shooters that were
[22:45] Speaker 8: making those shots before. We're not making those shots this
[22:48] Speaker 8: time because of closeouts. We stop the gap. We call
[22:52] Speaker 8: it elbows in boxes. Play close to your guy. Shoot
[22:57] Speaker 8: the gaps. Close out to your man and make him
[23:00] Speaker 8: do what? Make them drive to the paint. Guess who's
[23:03] Speaker 8: in the paint when you drive it? The Terminator. You
[23:09] Speaker 8: don't even want to shoot now. Now when you watch
[23:12] Speaker 8: the game back, you see everyone driving from closeouts and
[23:16] Speaker 8: then kicking again because Wimby's down there. Ultimate adjustment when
[23:22] Speaker 8: you're talking hoop. Offensively, we don't need to shoot the
[23:24] Speaker 8: ball that well because our main guy made his own
[23:28] Speaker 8: personal adjustment. How to get your team involved more is
[23:33] Speaker 8: for you to be more aggressive.
[23:34] Speaker 2: 33 points.
[23:38] Speaker 8: We're talking about ultimate aggression against two guys who don't
[23:41] Speaker 8: want no parts of you.
[23:43] Speaker 1: Let's even it up. Scott Foster, I appreciate you because we.
[23:47] Speaker 8: Got Tony Brothers tonight, so we already know it's a
[23:49] Speaker 8: different side of the coin. But when you want a
[23:53] Speaker 8: referee to let the game go the way it's been
[23:55] Speaker 8: going all season long.
[23:57] Speaker 2: Scott Foster let the game go. He let everybody play.
[24:03] Speaker 8: Oh, you don't like it when he does this to
[24:05] Speaker 8: your player, but you've been doing this to our player. Okay,
[24:10] Speaker 8: so Harkinstein can do the football shit on Wimby, but
[24:13] Speaker 8: we can't do the football shit on Shea because Shea
[24:15] Speaker 8: is a two-time MVP.
[24:17] Speaker 6: Football shit?
[24:19] Speaker 1: 100%.
[24:19] Speaker 8: Because, you know, Wimby's soft. According to Charles Barkley, he's
[24:22] Speaker 8: just being soft, right?
[24:24] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[24:25] Speaker 8: But SGA flops, flails every single play. Falls on the ground,
[24:30] Speaker 8: not even touched. But all of a sudden, Castle's a
[24:33] Speaker 8: football player because he's playing real hoop with SGA. You're
[24:38] Speaker 8: going to have to get by me with your counter
[24:39] Speaker 8: moves now. There's no just foul baiting. Where's your bag at?
[24:44] Speaker 8: Make me play defense. Five fouls, I got six. And
[24:49] Speaker 8: if you're that good, I'm going to use all of them.
[24:51] Speaker 6: Tonight, you'll have 15 fouls.
[24:53] Speaker 1: We hope so. Long as the 15 fouls lead to
[24:55] Speaker 1: a W, we ain't tripping. First 32 free throws in
[25:00] Speaker 1: that game to OKC's 18.
[25:02] Speaker 8: My main question to Skip is this. As an MVP,
[25:06] Speaker 8: are your numbers supposed to go up or down in production?
[25:13] Speaker 8: Because I know one guy's production goes up. The other
[25:17] Speaker 8: guy's production has went down. In this particular series, which
[25:21] Speaker 8: is the most important series because we're four and one
[25:25] Speaker 8: against you guys. So you need to be bouncing back
[25:27] Speaker 8: and proving to the world that that was a fluke.
[25:31] Speaker 8: So the last four games, your production has went down
[25:34] Speaker 8: a business.
[25:34] Speaker 6: Okay, well, you're MVP in game three. Do you remember that?
[25:39] Speaker 6: You just flash out to a 15-0 lead, and from
[25:43] Speaker 6: that point on at home, you get outscored 123-93. From
[25:48] Speaker 6: that point on at home, you got outscored by 30 points,
[25:54] Speaker 6: and the alien managed four total rebounds in that game.
[25:58] Speaker 6: Did his production go up? From each game, did.
[26:01] Speaker 1: It go up? What are his averages? Want me to
[26:03] Speaker 1: tell you his averages?
[26:04] Speaker 6: Four. He got four rebounds in a whole basketball game.
[26:08] Speaker 1: He's averaging 30 points, 16 boards.
[26:13] Speaker 2: Yep.
[26:14] Speaker 8: On 59% from the field, 38% from the three.
[26:17] Speaker 1: That man. Yep.
[26:19] Speaker 6: He's really good.
[26:20] Speaker 1: That goes up, right? You know what your guy's averaging?
[26:24] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[26:25] Speaker 1: Okay.
[26:26] Speaker 8: Since you know and the fans may not know, 24–
[26:30] Speaker 8: Ten assists, three rebounds, 38%, 39% from the field, like 26%, 27%
[26:35] Speaker 8: from the three.
[26:36] Speaker 1: Sounds like he's being bothered.
[26:48] Speaker 6: But he is the solo star, and you got a
[26:50] Speaker 6: whole bunch of good players around you.
[26:52] Speaker 1: Did you say solo star?
[26:53] Speaker 6: Yes.
[26:53] Speaker 1: Did you say solo? That sounds like an excuse to me.
[26:56] Speaker 1: Check me.
[26:57] Speaker 8: Third team All-NBA. Third team All-NBA. Is he not a Robin?
[27:05] Speaker 2: Okay. You're making excuses, man.
[27:07] Speaker 8: I don't mean to cook because I didn't bring the
[27:09] Speaker 8: crock pot, but I want everybody to know I'm a
[27:12] Speaker 8: doctor at all times, and this gets surgical any time
[27:15] Speaker 8: I ask for it to. But we just talking hoop
[27:19] Speaker 8: right now. And I just want to make sure that
[27:21] Speaker 8: this is a hoop talk.
[27:23] Speaker 2: This is hoop talk.
[27:24] Speaker 6: I'm going to make the point that the Spurs have
[27:27] Speaker 6: now shot 17 more free throws than the Thunder. So
[27:30] Speaker 6: the free throw merchant... is not getting to the free
[27:33] Speaker 6: throw line any more than the alien is.
[27:36] Speaker 1: Exactly. I wonder why.
[27:37] Speaker 8: When we get to the playoffs, you become regular.
[27:42] Speaker 3: They're 9-0 off losing.
[27:45] Speaker 6: I'll tell you why.
[27:45] Speaker 3: They bounce back.
[27:46] Speaker 6: Because the NBA does not want the Oklahoma City Thunder
[27:51] Speaker 6: to steal basketball again. They want it gone.
[27:54] Speaker 2: So why did they give them two MVPs?
[27:57] Speaker 6: Well, that doesn't matter to the finals.
[27:59] Speaker 1: But it matters to the NBA. When you could have.
[28:03] Speaker 8: Gave it to somebody. So we're going to blame it
[28:06] Speaker 8: on the NBA now?
[28:08] Speaker 1: Okay.
[28:10] Speaker 6: The networks. They don't want the thunder.
[28:13] Speaker 8: Blame it on the alcohol, too. Shout out to Jamie
[28:15] Speaker 8: Foxx if you're watching. I know you're mad. Blame it
[28:17] Speaker 8: on the alcohol. What you going to blame it on next, man? Skip,
[28:23] Speaker 8: you traded on the Spurs and you're going to feel
[28:26] Speaker 8: the karma of it.
[28:27] Speaker 1: Three years ago, you made the worst.
[28:29] Speaker 2: Decision of your life.
[28:31] Speaker 8: You decided to go over there instead of stay home
[28:35] Speaker 8: where you started.
[28:36] Speaker 6: I haven't been a Spurs fan for at least 10 years.
[28:39] Speaker 1: It's unfortunate. Why did you become a Spurs fan?
[28:42] Speaker 6: Why did I become in the beginning? George Gervin.
[28:45] Speaker 2: Okay.
[28:46] Speaker 3: Okay.
[28:47] Speaker 6: So I explained that the other day.
[28:49] Speaker 1: You said you've been a Spurs fan for at least
[28:50] Speaker 1: 10 years. George Gervin was the impetus for this?
[28:54] Speaker 6: I haven't been for 10 years. Oh, haven't been.
[28:57] Speaker 8: Because we were going through transitions and he wanted to.
[29:01] Speaker 1: Jump ship and now he's on the wrong ship, going
[29:04] Speaker 1: in the wrong direction.
[29:05] Speaker 6: I just went home. I told you guys, I tried
[29:09] Speaker 6: to love the Thunder in 2012 until Kevin Durant went
[29:13] Speaker 6: after me, then Russell Westbrook went after me, and I
[29:15] Speaker 6: go home to cover the 2012 finals and i need
[29:19] Speaker 6: 24 7 bodyguard in my hometown that's what i needed
[29:23] Speaker 6: because i got so many death threats from oklahoma city
[29:26] Speaker 6: fans and i'm in my high school hall of fame
[29:29] Speaker 6: and in the city hall of fame and i'm getting
[29:32] Speaker 6: death threats okay so that's why i couldn't love the
[29:35] Speaker 6: 2012 thunder had to.
[29:36] Speaker 8: Check in your okay yeah okay well something changed because
[29:39] Speaker 8: you're back Oh, so that's hometown.
[29:41] Speaker 2: I get it.
[29:41] Speaker 1: Something changed because you backed. What happened to that 2012
[29:43] Speaker 1: Thunder squad?
[29:46] Speaker 6: They lost to the Heat in the finals. In five.
[29:49] Speaker 6: It should have probably been in four.
[29:51] Speaker 1: You must have took some of that compound V. Yeah.
[29:54] Speaker 1: You ready now. You good.
[29:56] Speaker 8: They can't get you now because you comfortable walking through
[29:59] Speaker 8: OKC now.
[30:00] Speaker 6: Yeah, I am very comfortable, but I'm not comfortable with
[30:04] Speaker 6: the team because if you guys had lost De'Aaron Fox
[30:07] Speaker 6: and Dylan Harper for the duration, we would be having
[30:10] Speaker 6: a different conversation right now.
[30:12] Speaker 1: Yes, that would be an excuse on our part, right?
[30:14] Speaker 6: No, it would just be a valid excuse.
[30:16] Speaker 1: Oh, it's just things that happen in hoop though, Skip.
[30:19] Speaker 1: You know what happens in hoop? Injuries. Unfortunate injuries.
[30:22] Speaker 6: Is Jalen Williams any good? Help me out.
[30:25] Speaker 1: Yes, he's very good.
[30:27] Speaker 6: He's really good. Second team all defense last year. What
[30:31] Speaker 6: did you see against the Lakers from A.J.
[30:34] Speaker 2: Mitchell?
[30:35] Speaker 6: What did you see?
[30:36] Speaker 2: Very good player.
[30:36] Speaker 6: I saw a left-handed dynamo right there with Dylan Harper,
[30:40] Speaker 6: to me. Create, get to the hoop, he can shoot threes.
[30:46] Speaker 6: He's really good, and he can handle the basketball and
[30:49] Speaker 6: create his own shot. Now I'm down to one shot
[30:52] Speaker 6: creator on the whole team, and he is getting bully
[30:56] Speaker 6: balled by Stephon Castle, who is built to play football.
[31:00] Speaker 6: He is built to play football.
[31:02] Speaker 8: There's one term in basketball when we talk about hoop,
[31:05] Speaker 8: it's called next man up. And when you say your
[31:08] Speaker 8: team is a championship-built team that's won the championship, the
[31:12] Speaker 8: guys on that bench have to look at the guys
[31:15] Speaker 8: who are no longer there and say, next man up.
[31:19] Speaker 8: Because Jared McCain, a Duke guy, savvy, can play.
[31:23] Speaker 2: He's crafty.
[31:23] Speaker 8: He knows how to get a bucket. But guess what?
[31:26] Speaker 8: We on top of that. We ain't having that. Hey,
[31:29] Speaker 8: Cason Wallace, baby boy.
[31:32] Speaker 2: He missed shots.
[31:33] Speaker 1: Baby boy.
[31:33] Speaker 2: All OKC got to do is take care of home.
[31:35] Speaker 3: No, they will.
[31:37] Speaker 2: No, listen.
[31:38] Speaker 1: They will.
[31:38] Speaker 7: They'll get calls. They'll get calls at home. They're going
[31:40] Speaker 7: to make them same shots, dog. I think OKC was fine.
[31:43] Speaker 2: Go seven, take care of home. Chet just got to
[31:46] Speaker 2: take the challenge, though.
[31:47] Speaker 3: Chet, that's it.
[31:48] Speaker 1: This is the fourth time. This is the fourth time
[31:50] Speaker 1: I've heard that.
[31:51] Speaker 2: Hey, dude.
[31:52] Speaker 1: Fourth time I keep hearing Chet needs to do this.
[31:54] Speaker 6: That's the first point I agree with that you've made
[31:56] Speaker 6: all day. This is the fourth time. Fourth time. This
[31:59] Speaker 6: is the fifth time tonight.
[32:01] Speaker 1: And you say.
[32:01] Speaker 2: Arkansas can go in and do this thing. We need
[32:04] Speaker 2: something from Chet. I agree. We need to take the challenge.
[32:06] Speaker 2: That's why SGA is struggling from the field.
[32:09] Speaker 1: That's why?
[32:10] Speaker 2: Come on, man.
[32:12] Speaker 1: Y'all making up whatever. That fine castle locking that shit up.
[32:15] Speaker 2: That fine castle locking that shit up.
[32:20] Speaker 1: Carter Bryant locking that shit up.
[32:22] Speaker 2: Castle would have fouled out the game by halftime.
[32:24] Speaker 1: They switching on that. Vassell locking that shit up. Dillon
[32:29] Speaker 1: Harper locking that shit up.
[32:30] Speaker 6: Okay, here are the facts from the odds makers. Game
[32:34] Speaker 6: one in Oklahoma City, the Thunder were favored by six
[32:37] Speaker 6: and a half points. That's pretty... pretty significant favorites, okay?
[32:42] Speaker 6: Game two, we go up to seven and a half
[32:44] Speaker 6: there after your guys won game one. It goes to
[32:46] Speaker 6: seven and a half. Oklahoma City by seven and a
[32:48] Speaker 6: half in game two, and Oklahoma City won and covered
[32:51] Speaker 6: the point spread, winning by nine. Then tonight, it opened
[32:56] Speaker 6: at five and a half, and the betting public is
[32:59] Speaker 6: all over your squad, and it's down to four and
[33:02] Speaker 6: a half, and watch. By game time, it'll go down
[33:04] Speaker 6: to three and a half because everybody is saying the
[33:07] Speaker 6: alien has landed. He has arrived.
[33:10] Speaker 1: That's Yeah.
[33:11] Speaker 2: Why?
[33:11] Speaker 8: All I remember is when we lost game three, the
[33:15] Speaker 8: group chat went in.
[33:17] Speaker 2: Oh, it's over. Oh, my God, it's over. Oh, man. Oh,
[33:21] Speaker 2: pack it up. McCann's on Tuesday.
[33:23] Speaker 1: We go.
[33:24] Speaker 2: You don't think it's over?
[33:25] Speaker 1: I don't feel that energy. You don't think it's over?
[33:28] Speaker 1: I don't feel that same energy.
[33:29] Speaker 2: Well, I wasn't here, so we can bet. I love it.
[33:32] Speaker 1: I don't feel the same energy.
[33:33] Speaker 3: Okay, see, listen, they just didn't make shots.
[33:36] Speaker 1: We got what we named.
[33:37] Speaker 3: We came to do. We got one.
[33:39] Speaker 7: Now we're going to go home, take care of game five.
[33:40] Speaker 7: We getting calls. We definitely going to get calls there.
[33:44] Speaker 7: Game six, let's just figure it out. The fans love
[33:47] Speaker 7: their darling team.
[33:48] Speaker 2: The Spurs. They don't want them to get beat.
[33:50] Speaker 8: You said the Spurs were not even going to be
[33:53] Speaker 8: better than the Rockets.
[33:55] Speaker 2: I got the clips. I got all the receipts, Nick.
[34:00] Speaker 8: Who's where Cancun Western Conference we ain't got nothing to do.
[34:05] Speaker 1: With none of that we here y'all there.
[34:08] Speaker 8: Lunchtime baller lunchtime guess what it is now Tied up.
[34:14] Speaker 1: Dinner time.
[34:15] Speaker 2: It's tied up in the West.
[34:17] Speaker 1: Daddy's home. Tied up in the West.
[34:19] Speaker 2: Where's the food?
[34:20] Speaker 1: That'll go.
[34:21] Speaker 2: We're going to make more money with the Spurs.
[34:22] Speaker 1: It's tied up. 2-2. Going to make more money with
[34:24] Speaker 1: the Spurs.
[34:25] Speaker 2: Let them go. Yeah.
[34:26] Speaker 1: Let them go. Daddy's home.
[34:28] Speaker 6: I still haven't heard a prediction from you.
[34:31] Speaker 2: I keep trying.
[34:31] Speaker 1: I said seven, didn't I? Seven? Didn't I say seven?
[34:34] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[34:34] Speaker 8: I haven't heard seven. We're going seven. I respect OKC
[34:39] Speaker 8: enough to say seven. We have seven in us.
[34:42] Speaker 6: Okay, so you're saying Oklahoma City wins tonight?
[34:45] Speaker 1: No, I'm not saying that at all. Well, they have to.
[34:47] Speaker 6: Are they going to win game six at your place?
[34:51] Speaker 2: I'm not saying that. So who's winning in seven?
[34:53] Speaker 1: The Spurs? Yeah.
[34:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, you got the Spurs winning in seven.
[34:55] Speaker 1: I got the Spurs-Knicks predicted. Y'all don't want to bring
[34:59] Speaker 1: that clip up.
[35:00] Speaker 8: Yeah, from October 23rd when I said it's going to
[35:04] Speaker 8: be Knicks-Spurs in the finals.
[35:07] Speaker 1: So.
[35:07] Speaker 2: Here we are. Yeah, because those are both your teams.
[35:09] Speaker 1: Here we are. They're both my teams? Yeah.
[35:11] Speaker 8: I picked two winners.
[35:13] Speaker 1: Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
[35:14] Speaker 2: Well, you got to pick one. Shostradamus. You got to
[35:16] Speaker 2: pick one.
[35:17] Speaker 1: When you pick two, you just don't lose.
[35:20] Speaker 6: So right now you're ahead two to two, you're saying, right?
[35:24] Speaker 1: I am. I am. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
[35:29] Speaker 1: But when you meet, there's no in between. You win,
[35:32] Speaker 1: you win, you win.
[35:33] Speaker 6: Well, I think you're picking the Thunder tonight, though.
[35:35] Speaker 2: Oh, I'm on.
[35:36] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[35:36] Speaker 1: Oh.
[35:37] Speaker 7: I'm saying that if we do get one tonight, are
[35:40] Speaker 7: you guys winning tonight?
[35:41] Speaker 3: Yes or no?
[35:42] Speaker 1: I don't know. Okay. So, okay. See?
[35:44] Speaker 3: Okay.
[35:45] Speaker 2: We can't ever get an answer. We can't ever get
[35:47] Speaker 2: a yes or no. Just don't know.
[35:49] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[35:49] Speaker 2: I don't know, Skip.
[35:51] Speaker 1: I don't know. I can't tell you.
[35:53] Speaker 2: I can't debate somebody that won't give you a real hint.
[35:54] Speaker 2: I can't tell you.
[35:55] Speaker 1: Little Wimby. So, Wimby set the Spurs' franchise record for
[35:58] Speaker 1: most points in a player's first postseason, passing Steven Jackson
[36:01] Speaker 1: in the series, averaging 30 points, 13 rebounds, four assists,
[36:04] Speaker 1: three blocks on 53 rebounds. 43-88 splits. Series best plus 50.
[36:11] Speaker 1: So after the Spurs game three loss, he said, I
[36:13] Speaker 1: feel like I have trouble making my teammates better right now.
[36:17] Speaker 1: I need to be more of a team player. But Skip,
[36:19] Speaker 1: when you look at Wimmy, does Wimmy need to be
[36:20] Speaker 1: more of a team player or just do a better
[36:23] Speaker 1: job of taking over the game? Because he wasn't a
[36:26] Speaker 1: team player per se in game four. When he's dropping
[36:28] Speaker 1: the 30s and 40s, that's when we're winning the game.
[36:31] Speaker 1: When it's the whole team player shit has not gone
[36:34] Speaker 1: the Spurs way.
[36:37] Speaker 6: Look, he's obviously wildly skilled at seven foot nine or
[36:44] Speaker 6: whatever he is. I don't know. What do we call him?
[36:46] Speaker 2: Six, seven, six?
[36:48] Speaker 1: I don't know. You know, just sevens. Just call him Mr. Seven.
[36:53] Speaker 6: And yet, the fire and desire does come and go.
[36:58] Speaker 6: That's all I know. It comes and goes. So it's
[37:00] Speaker 6: almost like you're going to be a prisoner of or
[37:05] Speaker 6: victim of his love. focus for the night.
[37:09] Speaker 1: And I.
[37:10] Speaker 6: Don't know what happened to him in game three, but
[37:13] Speaker 6: he drifted. Hartenstein got in his head a little bit. Poor,
[37:18] Speaker 6: poor Wimby.
[37:19] Speaker 2: They were grabbing his elbow. They were grabbing his elbow
[37:22] Speaker 2: a little bit.
[37:22] Speaker 6: It was really, it was just terrible what they were
[37:25] Speaker 6: doing to him. I don't know, but he wasn't, he
[37:29] Speaker 6: wasn't all there. And then in game four, when he
[37:32] Speaker 6: goes into early attack mode, it's hard to deal with him.
[37:36] Speaker 6: And And Chet shrinks under his gaze. All he has
[37:41] Speaker 6: to do is glare at Chet, and he shrinks about
[37:45] Speaker 6: eight inches. And it's just, I guess the pop speech
[37:52] Speaker 6: got to him, where he called him out and just said,
[37:55] Speaker 6: you got punked, because they did. I don't know how
[37:58] Speaker 6: that alien could get four rebounds in an entire basketball
[38:02] Speaker 6: game in which you have a 15 to nothing lead.
[38:04] Speaker 6: It's just wrong. And I don't think Pop directed his
[38:10] Speaker 6: commentary directly at Wimby, but it was at the team
[38:14] Speaker 6: and it was implied it was the alien who was
[38:17] Speaker 6: getting the brunt of the commentary from Pop. So is
[38:22] Speaker 6: his fire lit? Because when he's all fire desire from
[38:26] Speaker 6: dribble one, it does help him to make his first three.
[38:30] Speaker 6: When he makes his first three.
[38:32] Speaker 6: It just fills him with confidence. And remember game one against,
[38:36] Speaker 6: who was it, the previous round?
[38:39] Speaker 1: Minnesota.
[38:39] Speaker 6: Was it Minnesota? Yeah. He goes 0 for 8 from three,
[38:43] Speaker 6: and they lose at home. And so he's a little
[38:47] Speaker 6: bit of a prisoner of his own three-point shooting, and
[38:50] Speaker 6: then he makes the one, the walk-off at halftime the
[38:53] Speaker 6: other night, and I'm like, that's it.
[38:54] Speaker 2: It's over.
[38:56] Speaker 6: But it just depends how– how much his fire is lit,
[39:01] Speaker 6: and how much Hartenstein can bother him. And to a
[39:04] Speaker 6: certain extent, Caruso can bother him. And I do remind you,
[39:08] Speaker 6: one thing Oklahoma City's got going versus Wimmy tonight is
[39:12] Speaker 6: Caruso only played 14 minutes because I think Dagnall saw
[39:15] Speaker 6: the handwriting on the arena wall and just said, this
[39:20] Speaker 6: is theirs. I'm going to give you this one. It
[39:21] Speaker 6: was like the 143-101 at Minnesota last year. You can
[39:25] Speaker 6: have this one. I'm not going to play Caruso because
[39:28] Speaker 6: he burns out because he just... plays so hard so
[39:31] Speaker 6: fast that they need him to bother Wimby too. So
[39:36] Speaker 6: he scored zero the other night. Alex Caruso scored zero
[39:39] Speaker 6: in 14 minutes. So he'll be a little fresher tonight
[39:43] Speaker 6: to just try to get under Wimby's skin a little bit,
[39:47] Speaker 6: which he will. And And you just hope that he's
[39:52] Speaker 6: not as focused and committed as he was. And I
[39:55] Speaker 6: don't think it's about his teammates or anything. That sounded good.
[39:58] Speaker 6: It's just about him. If he decides this is my game,
[40:02] Speaker 6: my night, he's difficult to deal with. That's all I know.
[40:11] Speaker 3: I mean, I'm rolling. I like OKC in game five.
[40:16] Speaker 3: You're the champs. You're at home.
[40:18] Speaker 7: On-court advantage. You're going to get your calls. I don't think,
[40:20] Speaker 7: like you said, Caruso's going to have that game that
[40:22] Speaker 7: he had. I don't think McCain's going to shoot the
[40:25] Speaker 7: way he shot. And I just know by their record,
[40:29] Speaker 7: they're 9-0, man, when they lose a game. So they
[40:33] Speaker 7: at home. These are champions. And at the end of
[40:35] Speaker 7: the day, you still got to beat the champs. You
[40:36] Speaker 7: got to beat them.
[40:37] Speaker 3: And we'll see.
[40:39] Speaker 6: You got Spurs tonight and in six?
[40:43] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
[40:44] Speaker 6: Oh, I thought you said it was going sick.
[40:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, the fun and all that fun and the excitement
[40:48] Speaker 2: is about to be over tonight for the Spurs.
[40:52] Speaker 6: Oh, you're going the other way.
[40:53] Speaker 2: It's going to be like the Warriors. They had fun
[40:55] Speaker 2: in Houston.
[40:57] Speaker 8: You got jet lag. Nah, it's going to be six.
[41:01] Speaker 8: They got to catch up. They got to catch up
[41:02] Speaker 8: to New York. They let y'all have fun. He's got
[41:05] Speaker 8: that fish head digesting in his stomach. He don't know
[41:08] Speaker 8: what he's talking about. Pop won him a game.
[41:10] Speaker 1: I get it. Pop won him?
[41:11] Speaker 2: Yeah. He was the nuns.
[41:12] Speaker 1: He was the nuns.
[41:13] Speaker 2: He yelled at the coach. He yelled at him.
[41:15] Speaker 1: He yelled at the ref.
[41:17] Speaker 2: He yelled at the committee. Adam Stern. Pop used to
[41:19] Speaker 2: hold everybody. He yelled at everybody. Pop used to yell
[41:22] Speaker 2: at everybody.
[41:24] Speaker 1: Adam Silver.
[41:25] Speaker 2: Adam Silver. Adam Stern. Adam Silver. He yelled at everybody.
[41:28] Speaker 1: Greg Popper.
[41:29] Speaker 8: Remember what you did to Tim back in the day?
[41:32] Speaker 2: Yelled at all of them.
[41:33] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[41:34] Speaker 2: I got you. I got you, Pop. Greg Popper used
[41:36] Speaker 2: to hold Tim Duncan accountable.
[41:38] Speaker 1: Nah.
[41:39] Speaker 2: Tim Duncan.
[41:40] Speaker 1: Constantly.
[41:42] Speaker 2: Constantly.
[41:43] Speaker 1: Tony Parker.
[41:44] Speaker 2: This is not your locker room no more.
[41:45] Speaker 1: It is.
[41:46] Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Who was the coach? Who
[41:49] Speaker 2: got control? Who was Pat Riley?
[41:51] Speaker 1: Who was Pat Riley?
[41:53] Speaker 2: You know who Pat Riley is? You know who Pat
[41:56] Speaker 2: Riley is?
[41:57] Speaker 1: And you know who Eric Sposter is?
[41:59] Speaker 2: Pat, yell at your coach and you're going to have
[42:01] Speaker 2: the best game.
[42:02] Speaker 1: Pat Riley, Eric Sposter.
[42:04] Speaker 2: Thank you, Pat. When I tell you what to do,
[42:07] Speaker 2: you do it. I'm just saying.
[42:09] Speaker 1: Okay?
[42:10] Speaker 2: Coach was so mad. You seen what he did to
[42:11] Speaker 2: the little kid, Brian?
[42:13] Speaker 1: Yes. Yes. Hold you accountable.
[42:16] Speaker 2: That's the only one he could.
[42:17] Speaker 1: Let's go back for a second. Okay. When Vignana, right?
[42:24] Speaker 8: When Vignana had eight rebounds last game, four rebounds the
[42:29] Speaker 8: game before. You forget about the 26 points and the
[42:33] Speaker 8: 33 points and the defense plus that he actually stands
[42:39] Speaker 8: on business with. So you look at the dynamic of
[42:44] Speaker 8: the actual scouting report New show coming soon. It's got
[42:48] Speaker 8: a report brought to you by Underdog. I'm going to
[42:52] Speaker 8: outline and show you exactly why this game plan that
[42:57] Speaker 8: we had Caruso hit zero points on, which is simply
[43:01] Speaker 8: stop double teaming and giving open shots to guys who
[43:04] Speaker 8: potentially can hit shots to keep them in the game.
[43:07] Speaker 1: Who are those two guys?
[43:09] Speaker 2: Caruso. They didn't have a lot of open shots. And
[43:12] Speaker 2: who else? McCain.
[43:13] Speaker 6: And Jalen Williams.
[43:15] Speaker 1: And Wallace. It's four of them.
[43:18] Speaker 2: They all did.
[43:18] Speaker 8: But these two guys potentially can take over the game
[43:22] Speaker 8: and give you 24 points or 18 points.
[43:25] Speaker 1: That changed the dynamic of how the game is going.
[43:27] Speaker 6: Yeah, but don't underestimate. Jay Wills has been doing this
[43:29] Speaker 6: all year. The postman.
[43:31] Speaker 2: The big guy.
[43:32] Speaker 1: But he didn't do it last night. He looked like
[43:33] Speaker 1: Jerry McCain. He looked like he was doing a TikTok.
[43:35] Speaker 6: Okay, but the game before he made five out of
[43:38] Speaker 6: six threes.
[43:38] Speaker 2: He did.
[43:39] Speaker 1: He did. But guess what? He was open.
[43:40] Speaker 2: He was open last night. He was open.
[43:43] Speaker 8: Our game plan was to crowd shooters make them put
[43:46] Speaker 8: it on the floor.
[43:47] Speaker 1: Make sure they're on the catch.
[43:49] Speaker 2: They was open all game.
[43:51] Speaker 1: So why didn't he make them?
[43:52] Speaker 2: Because he missed open shots.
[43:54] Speaker 1: So you better make them next time.
[43:56] Speaker 2: I don't want to hear you miss. He missed a
[43:58] Speaker 2: lot of open shots. Yes.
[44:01] Speaker 1: Damn. But we're right there. We're right there.
[44:04] Speaker 2: Don't make up your own shit in your head. You
[44:05] Speaker 2: were in China. You wasn't even watching the damn game.
[44:08] Speaker 2: You didn't even have a signal.
[44:10] Speaker 1: They don't even play this shit over there.
[44:12] Speaker 2: You're lying.
[44:13] Speaker 8: You just looked at the box for it, bro. I
[44:18] Speaker 8: told you that fish head is affecting your shit, bro.
[44:22] Speaker 2: You got fall brain.
[44:24] Speaker 8: Jalen Williams was swinging the ball because he was not open.
[44:28] Speaker 1: These were not open threes.
[44:30] Speaker 2: They were not open.
[44:32] Speaker 1: No, they were not open. Shame, dribble, bump. Pump fact,
[44:35] Speaker 1: two came.
[44:36] Speaker 8: Ain't no two. We're in the gap. Show and retreat.
[44:42] Speaker 8: Get back to your own. Stunt and recover. It's called
[44:45] Speaker 8: stunt and recover. It's called stunt and recover.
[44:52] Speaker 2: Terminology for the.
[44:53] Speaker 1: Guys who don't know who. Stunt on SGA.
[44:58] Speaker 2: I got this. Recover to the shooter.
[45:01] Speaker 1: Make him make another pass.
[45:08] Speaker 2: I mean, relax.
[45:10] Speaker 1: Did you make that up?
[45:11] Speaker 2: No.
[45:12] Speaker 1: You just made that up?
[45:13] Speaker 2: People in China told me that. A little kid told
[45:16] Speaker 2: you that?
[45:17] Speaker 1: That's right. You were watching the game in China. Legit.
[45:19] Speaker 1: 9 a.m. Or 8 a.m.
[45:21] Speaker 6: Or 9 a.m.
[45:21] Speaker 2: I knew he was going to say crazy. He lying.
[45:24] Speaker 1: You know what lying mean in Chinese?
[45:29] Speaker 9: Lion you're a liar he's a liar you're lying again
[45:40] Speaker 9: man listen like i said man you know what's going
[45:45] Speaker 9: on with this game plan that's why everybody knows what's
[45:47] Speaker 9: gonna happen this game we do the same thing the
[45:49] Speaker 9: same ball handlers out the same Scoring threats are out.
[45:53] Speaker 1: What are you going to do to change the outcome
[45:55] Speaker 1: of the game? Ask for fouls?
[45:57] Speaker 8: Tell them to stop? Oh, stop playing so aggressive? You
[45:59] Speaker 8: just said we were just being punked.
[46:02] Speaker 1: Oh, this, oh, this. It sounds like y'all doing the
[46:04] Speaker 1: same shit for SGA. Call it evenly. Sounds like the
[46:07] Speaker 1: same thing.
[46:08] Speaker 2: Call it evenly.
[46:09] Speaker 3: All right.
[46:11] Speaker 1: So let's shift over back to the Thunder side. SGA
[46:14] Speaker 1: struggled to find his offense at times throughout the series.
[46:17] Speaker 1: So after becoming the first guard in NBA history to
[46:19] Speaker 1: average 30 while shooting 55% from the field in the
[46:21] Speaker 1: regular season, Shea's been forced to be more of a
[46:23] Speaker 1: facilitator through the first four games in the Western Conference Finals.
[46:26] Speaker 1: He's averaging 25 points, 10 assists, 3 rebounds on 39-27,
[46:32] Speaker 1: 97 splits. So Skip, has Shea been officiated fairly during
[46:35] Speaker 1: this series? And what version of Shea do the Thunder
[46:39] Speaker 1: need if they want to win this series?
[46:42] Speaker 6: Well, I just restate my case. Stephon Castle is really good.
[46:49] Speaker 6: and he has arrived. In fact, I did a thing
[46:52] Speaker 6: with Kenyon after a show a couple of weeks back.
[46:56] Speaker 6: We ranked the top five players in the Western Conference,
[46:59] Speaker 6: and I put Stephon Castle fifth in the conference. That's
[47:02] Speaker 6: how good he is because he can play bully ball
[47:06] Speaker 6: defending and driving the basketball because he is a load
[47:09] Speaker 6: to deal with when he gets two feet in the paint.
[47:14] Speaker 6: He's hard to stop. He plays even stronger to me
[47:18] Speaker 6: than he looks. So, look, it's just an overreaction because
[47:28] Speaker 6: of this foul merchant stuff. And I will give you
[47:31] Speaker 6: that SGA got one call the other night, and it
[47:34] Speaker 6: was on the three-point shot where De'Aaron Fox, you know,
[47:38] Speaker 6: just brushed him with his body. Never touched him. He
[47:42] Speaker 6: touched him. It was knee-to-knee contact for sure because he
[47:45] Speaker 6: knocked him offline. But what had just happened that you forget, Mr. Hooper,
[47:51] Speaker 6: is that Dagnalt had just challenged to play a turnover
[47:55] Speaker 6: out of bounds off SGA with Castle all over him
[47:58] Speaker 6: because Dagnalt wanted the foul called because you just can't
[48:04] Speaker 6: go body ram somebody and hack at their arms and
[48:07] Speaker 6: get away with it. And he got away with it
[48:09] Speaker 6: because the call was... Spurs basketball going the other way.
[48:13] Speaker 6: So they challenged it, and they lost the challenge, but
[48:16] Speaker 6: they made the refs look at the foul call, and
[48:18] Speaker 6: they said, no, no, it's okay. And it was a
[48:21] Speaker 6: make-up call. They let SGA have one, but that was
[48:24] Speaker 6: the only call he got the whole night. And I'm
[48:25] Speaker 6: going to say it again, on free throws for the
[48:28] Speaker 6: whole series, he shot 34 and the alien shot 34.
[48:31] Speaker 2: So it's 34 all in.
[48:31] Speaker 6: Free throw attempts. And I do think, to your point,
[48:39] Speaker 6: the alien gets every call. He gets away like he
[48:42] Speaker 6: blocked one of Chet's shots, a dunk at the rim
[48:45] Speaker 6: the other night.
[48:46] Speaker 2: And he just was a foul.
[48:47] Speaker 6: He just knocked the hell out of him.
[48:49] Speaker 2: Or was it a soft attempt at a dunk?
[48:51] Speaker 6: Okay, whatever you want to argue is fine, but it
[48:54] Speaker 6: was a body foul. He hit him hard.
[48:56] Speaker 8: I'm a defensive player of the year, unanimous. You don't
[49:00] Speaker 8: call no bullshit call on me with some soft-ass boy
[49:03] Speaker 8: coming out here trying to play a man's game.
[49:05] Speaker 1: Get out of here with that.
[49:06] Speaker 6: No, you don't call no call on me. That's what
[49:08] Speaker 6: it is. It's just no call. You can just do
[49:10] Speaker 6: because the league needs him.
[49:12] Speaker 1: Man. Yeah. Okay.
[49:14] Speaker 2: It is.
[49:15] Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what's happening. They let him get away with anything.
[49:18] Speaker 6: and here's here's my point about anything yeah.
[49:22] Speaker 8: They let him get away with anything but they call
[49:24] Speaker 8: all the bullshit on sba they give him all the
[49:27] Speaker 8: fucking calls but they let him get away.
[49:29] Speaker 2: With everything more free are we are we serious right
[49:31] Speaker 2: now he's not even sure Like, there's.
[49:32] Speaker 8: A compilation of how many times he hits the ground. 17%
[49:36] Speaker 8: of the time he hits the ground on his shot attempts.
[49:39] Speaker 2: Okay. He's not getting fouled. What are you on the
[49:42] Speaker 2: floor for? It's fouled. You do not shoot like that.
[49:45] Speaker 2: Dwyane Wade was on the floor a lot. You do
[49:46] Speaker 2: not shoot like that.
[49:47] Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of players be on the floor.
[49:48] Speaker 2: You do not shoot like that. You know what?
[49:49] Speaker 6: SGA takes more punishment than any player in the league.
[49:53] Speaker 1: Really?
[49:53] Speaker 2: Yes, he does.
[49:54] Speaker 1: From his style is.
[49:56] Speaker 1: From a stylist? Yeah. From a stylist? Hey, you're going
[49:59] Speaker 1: to have to wear this tonight. For real?
[50:01] Speaker 3: He ain't got no stylist.
[50:03] Speaker 1: For real?
[50:04] Speaker 2: For real? That's punishment.
[50:05] Speaker 6: No, I'm pretty sure he picks his own outfit.
[50:06] Speaker 2: I'm going to say he ain't got no stylist. Come on, man.
[50:08] Speaker 2: Y'all just hate him. That's why y'all hate him. I
[50:11] Speaker 2: hate flying.
[50:12] Speaker 1: People, bro.
[50:13] Speaker 2: Continue with the punishment. I'm making y'all look crazy.
[50:15] Speaker 7: They was just complaining about SEA getting all the calls
[50:19] Speaker 7: and fouling.
[50:19] Speaker 2: Now, it's like, damn.
[50:21] Speaker 1: Now you want the calls. Now you complaining about not
[50:24] Speaker 1: getting the call.
[50:26] Speaker 2: You guys are super. Make up your mind. Like what
[50:28] Speaker 2: are you talking about?
[50:28] Speaker 8: You were getting the free throws and now you're not
[50:30] Speaker 8: getting the free throws. So now you got a hoop.
[50:34] Speaker 8: Now you have to prove you can get a bucket
[50:36] Speaker 8: without getting a foul.
[50:38] Speaker 2: Why do I have to prove I'm the champion? Because
[50:39] Speaker 2: we're not fouling you. But why am I not getting
[50:41] Speaker 2: the free throws? I got to prove because we're not
[50:43] Speaker 2: fouling you. Because.
[50:44] Speaker 8: You know how I play without fouling? You know, when
[50:47] Speaker 8: the coach, he writes that on the whiteboard. We have
[50:49] Speaker 8: to play without fouling tonight.
[50:52] Speaker 2: He don't write nothing. Honestly, Pop, dude.
[50:55] Speaker 1: Pop, why?
[50:55] Speaker 2: This is to say Pop, why?
[50:57] Speaker 1: Pop wrote it up. Play without fouling, guys.
[51:00] Speaker 2: Y'all can foul him tonight. I told him.
[51:02] Speaker 1: I told the refs.
[51:03] Speaker 2: Y'all can foul him tonight. That's what Pop did. No,
[51:05] Speaker 2: I mean, we just at home. We can play a
[51:07] Speaker 2: little more physical. Just like tonight. We'll see at OKC.
[51:10] Speaker 2: Y'all be way more physical.
[51:12] Speaker 1: Watch. This three-on-one ain't going to be very helpful.
[51:14] Speaker 2: It's 2-2.
[51:15] Speaker 7: It's 2-2 going back to OKC. If I'm OKC, I'm
[51:19] Speaker 7: feeling good. Hey, we got one.
[51:21] Speaker 1: After getting your ass blown out? Nah, I don't think
[51:23] Speaker 1: you got nothing. Did win two straight, though, to take
[51:26] Speaker 1: back home court advantage.
[51:28] Speaker 6: Okay, if we got nothing, then you should just go
[51:30] Speaker 6: ahead and say it's about to be over.
[51:32] Speaker 1: No.
[51:32] Speaker 6: No, I'm not going anywhere. There you don't go. There
[51:36] Speaker 6: you don't go.
[51:38] Speaker 2: I'm not doing that.
[51:40] Speaker 1: No.
[51:41] Speaker 8: Because the seven games are good.
[51:44] Speaker 2: They're good. They're good. You got nothing. You would never
[51:48] Speaker 2: do that.
[51:48] Speaker 8: The only thing you got is you got Tony Brothers.
[51:52] Speaker 1: That's what you got. You got Tony.
[51:55] Speaker 2: Ugly-ass Tony.
[51:56] Speaker 1: You got ugly-ass Tony. The judge during execution or not?
[52:00] Speaker 8: Man, I'm not going to count Tony Brothers out.
[52:03] Speaker 1: I could never do that. If it wasn't for Tony Brothers,
[52:06] Speaker 1: I would double down on it, but I can't.
[52:08] Speaker 2: Oh, you want Foster?
[52:09] Speaker 1: No, man.
[52:09] Speaker 2: Foster don't like CP3. CP3, OKC.
[52:13] Speaker 1: We could. CP3 did have some.
[52:16] Speaker 2: CP3 had the Spurs jersey on.
[52:19] Speaker 8: He did, but he had something to do with the
[52:22] Speaker 8: SGA shit that's going on over there.
[52:24] Speaker 2: His leadership over there. His leadership over there. His leadership
[52:30] Speaker 2: over there.
[52:31] Speaker 1: They still dabble when they see each other.
[52:33] Speaker 6: So here's the point. What did you say SGA is
[52:36] Speaker 6: averaging for these four games?
[52:37] Speaker 1: 24, right? 25. 25.
[52:40] Speaker 6: 25. I will bet you he has more than 25
[52:42] Speaker 6: tonight because however great he is, you're going to see
[52:46] Speaker 6: him max out. However, whatever he can do tonight, he
[52:50] Speaker 6: will do by himself. Watch.
[52:53] Speaker 2: That will happen.
[52:54] Speaker 1: You betting that OKC win?
[52:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, they win tonight.
[52:58] Speaker 2: Let's just bet. I mean, you might as well.
[53:02] Speaker 1: You never paid your fucking bets from before.
[53:04] Speaker 2: Bro, you might as well just. All the bets. No,
[53:06] Speaker 2: I said if they play the Clippers. We bet three times, bro.
[53:10] Speaker 2: I said if the Spurs play the Clippers first round,
[53:13] Speaker 2: it's going to be ugly. That's what I said. You
[53:15] Speaker 2: got no other team to go with. You might as
[53:17] Speaker 2: well bet. I don't need.
[53:19] Speaker 1: Another team to go with.
[53:20] Speaker 2: So you might as well bet.
[53:21] Speaker 1: I don't need it.
[53:21] Speaker 8: My team that I picked preseason is here right now.
[53:24] Speaker 2: So bet. So bet that they win tonight.
[53:26] Speaker 1: Watch out, man. Did you guys– See that, folks? Oh,
[53:28] Speaker 1: so you– okay. Yeah, watch out. See that, folks?
[53:30] Speaker 2: We're not going to give you these.
[53:32] Speaker 1: Look, look. All right, well, we will find out what
[53:35] Speaker 1: happened tonight and discuss it here in the arena tomorrow.
[53:37] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to the Eastern Conference. So after New
[53:40] Speaker 1: York got their fourth straight playoff win with a 39-point
[53:44] Speaker 1: blowout over the Sixers in game one of their second-round
[53:46] Speaker 1: series back on May 4th, Jalen Brunson was asked if
[53:49] Speaker 1: the Knicks were peaking at the right time. He replied,
[53:52] Speaker 1: I hope not. So three weeks later, the Knicks entered
[53:55] Speaker 1: Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals with a 3-0
[53:57] Speaker 1: series lead in the midst of a historic 10-game winning
[54:00] Speaker 1: streak with their 22.5 average margin of victory being the
[54:04] Speaker 1: best by any team over a 10-game span in NBA history.
[54:08] Speaker 1: Cavs were looking to avoid the sweep and tried to
[54:10] Speaker 1: stop the Knicks and their fans from taking over their
[54:12] Speaker 1: arena like they did in Philly while sweeping that series,
[54:15] Speaker 1: but those efforts were futile on and off the court
[54:17] Speaker 1: as New York came through with another series-clinching blowout to
[54:20] Speaker 1: punch their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first
[54:22] Speaker 1: time in 27 years. Let's check out the highlights if
[54:25] Speaker 1: we can. Please, son. So, Cavs put up a fight
[54:29] Speaker 1: in the first quarter. Donovan Mitchell scored the Cavs' first
[54:31] Speaker 1: eight points. They jumped out to an 8-2 lead. Cleveland
[54:35] Speaker 1: led for most of the first six minutes before New
[54:37] Speaker 1: York took control and continued to put belt to ass.
[54:41] Speaker 1: Cavs were trailing by four with a little over two
[54:44] Speaker 1: minutes remaining in the first frame. Let's watch this Jalen
[54:49] Speaker 1: Brunson layup real quick. They were Still within striking distance.
[54:54] Speaker 1: But then, Knicks went on a 20-0 run with their
[54:59] Speaker 1: bench leading the charge. So, New York led by as
[55:02] Speaker 1: much as 29 points in the first half. See, Landry Schammett,
[55:07] Speaker 1: 4 for 4 from 3 in the game, 11 for
[55:10] Speaker 1: 12 from 3 in the series. Helped spark that 20-0 run.
[55:13] Speaker 1: Knicks took a 19-point.
[55:15] Speaker 2: Lead into the break.
[55:15] Speaker 1: Cavs gave up 26 points. Fast break points in the
[55:23] Speaker 1: first half. 33 in the game. New York has six
[55:27] Speaker 1: players scoring double figures, led by Catt, who finished with
[55:29] Speaker 1: 19 points and 14 boards. It was the Big Bodega's
[55:33] Speaker 1: ninth double-double this postseason and third in this series. O.G.
[55:36] Speaker 1: Ananobi added 17 points and seven rebounds. And Jalen Brunson
[55:40] Speaker 1: and Mikael Bridges each finished with 15 and five assists.
[55:44] Speaker 1: Landry Schemmett, as we mentioned, lightened it up 16 off
[55:47] Speaker 1: the bench.
[55:47] Speaker 2: Schemmett, three-pointer, back.
[55:51] Speaker 1: Hitting a barrage of threes. Donovan Mitchell put up a
[55:53] Speaker 1: game-high 31 points. It was his sixth 30-point game this postseason.
[55:57] Speaker 1: Evan Mobley had 15 and 7 boards, while James Harden
[56:00] Speaker 1: had another disappointing elimination game. Harden had 12 points on
[56:03] Speaker 1: 2 of 8 shooting, along with a game-high 5 turnovers.
[56:07] Speaker 1: New York outscored Cleveland 62 to 44 in the second half,
[56:12] Speaker 1: dominated in second-chance points, outscoring the Cavs 32 to 5.
[56:15] Speaker 1: Knicks pulled their starters with a little over under eight
[56:17] Speaker 1: minutes remaining, 35-point lead. They led by as much as
[56:21] Speaker 1: 45 in the fourth quarter as Knicks fans once again
[56:25] Speaker 1: took over the arena. New York advanced to the finals
[56:27] Speaker 1: for the first time since 1999 while also becoming the
[56:30] Speaker 1: first NBA Cup champion to reach the finals in the
[56:33] Speaker 1: same season. So after the series-clinching win, Cat and Eastern
[56:36] Speaker 1: Conference Finals MVP Jalen Brunson offered these thoughts.
[56:40] Speaker 10: This team's hungry, and that's the most important thing, even
[56:42] Speaker 10: with an amazing historical win we had tonight um the
[56:48] Speaker 10: celebrations were minimal you know we really want to get
[56:50] Speaker 10: back to work ask coach can we get back to
[56:52] Speaker 10: work quick um we we know what happened last time
[56:55] Speaker 10: we had a long layoff so we're uh we're we
[56:58] Speaker 10: already talked after the game right away about preparing you
[57:00] Speaker 10: know getting to practice getting back to the work uh
[57:03] Speaker 10: it's what's made us special it's what's gonna give us
[57:06] Speaker 10: a chance to win the next series.
[57:07] Speaker 11: Like the belief that the organization has in me has
[57:09] Speaker 11: been amazing and it's something i don't take for granted
[57:13] Speaker 11: and it's something that uh Not a lot of people
[57:18] Speaker 11: get the opportunity to do so, so I'm very thankful.
[57:21] Speaker 11: And it's an honor to be here in this city
[57:26] Speaker 11: and for this organization and with my teammates. And obviously
[57:32] Speaker 11: these guys are on my back, and they've always had it.
[57:35] Speaker 2: And we're going to show that for the world.
[57:40] Speaker 1: The new version, Nova Knicks, two chips. Brunson and McKell
[57:45] Speaker 1: Bridges at Villanova. Josh Hart won one of those. Knicks
[57:48] Speaker 1: are the fifth team in league history with an 11-game
[57:50] Speaker 1: playoff winning streak. They're compliant. Buying plus 262 margin is
[57:54] Speaker 1: the largest of any 11-game span in NBA history. Mr. B,
[57:57] Speaker 1: we will start with you. Biggest takeaways from the Knicks
[58:00] Speaker 1: sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers?
[58:02] Speaker 7: Man, let's take it back a little bit. Let's take
[58:05] Speaker 7: it back when the Knicks won. They won the Cup
[58:08] Speaker 7: this year, right? They won the Cup, right, and they
[58:11] Speaker 7: were doing well. I remember they having a little stretch.
[58:15] Speaker 7: where Cat was, him and Mike Brown was getting into it,
[58:18] Speaker 7: and he didn't really know his role, right? And it
[58:20] Speaker 7: was getting a little shaky over there. Like, we were
[58:21] Speaker 7: kind of writing the Knicks off. I want to commend Cat.
[58:26] Speaker 7: This is about Cat right now, because Cat, man, you
[58:29] Speaker 7: accepted that role that Mike Brown challenged you in, taking
[58:32] Speaker 7: that Draymond Green role, I will call it, you being
[58:35] Speaker 7: able to beat the Sill Taylor.
[58:38] Speaker 3: You know, your assists are high in the playoffs.
[58:41] Speaker 7: But I think you just taking on that role has really–
[58:43] Speaker 7: helped the whole team and everybody you see bridges, you
[58:46] Speaker 7: see Brunson, everybody, they just plan so unselfishly and, and
[58:51] Speaker 7: on the defensive end.
[58:54] Speaker 3: So I really want to say like, it's, it's really
[58:56] Speaker 3: about cat to me.
[58:57] Speaker 7: I mean, I know the team is good, but cat
[58:58] Speaker 7: really taken on that role has really changed.
[59:00] Speaker 3: The whole dynamic of the next team.
[59:02] Speaker 7: And that's, that's what I took from this whole thing
[59:06] Speaker 7: since he's accepted that role.
[59:08] Speaker 1: After all that, Swaggy, biggest takeaways from the Knicks? Sweeping
[59:16] Speaker 1: the Cavs' advantage to the first NBA Final.
[59:18] Speaker 2: I think we've all seen this coming after what happened
[59:22] Speaker 2: to Jason Tatum last year coming into this season. I
[59:26] Speaker 2: think pretty much it was up to the Knicks to
[59:29] Speaker 2: get there. I didn't believe the Pistons, even though how
[59:32] Speaker 2: good they was playing. They didn't have enough. After Boston
[59:37] Speaker 2: went down, I didn't see nobody beating the Knicks in
[59:40] Speaker 2: the East. But they're playing very well. And you've seen
[59:44] Speaker 2: it coming. It's the same James Harden story. It don't
[59:47] Speaker 2: matter what team he's on. When he feels he doesn't
[59:53] Speaker 2: have a shot, he gives up. I think the first
[59:58] Speaker 2: game did it. I even stopped watching for a little
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: bit when they was up 20, first game. Then I
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: see the chat blowing up, Knicks won. I'm like, what?
[1:00:08] Speaker 2: I'm in China, you know, hanging, eating noodles. Got some
[1:00:11] Speaker 2: duck wrap. Couldn't believe it. But the biggest takeaway, I
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: would say Brunson getting his trophy. He pushed Josh Hart
[1:00:25] Speaker 2: out the way. Serious time, no thumbs.
[1:00:28] Speaker 1: Avoiding another thumb incident.
[1:00:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, no thumbs up. Let's get the job. Yeah, let's
[1:00:31] Speaker 2: get the job done. It's big for the city for sure.
[1:00:36] Speaker 2: I like the Knicks going there.
[1:00:37] Speaker 1: Shout out to the Knicks. We're your squad until December.
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: NBA Cup Championship. There's an incident we will talk about shortly.
[1:00:44] Speaker 1: Change your perspective. What are your big segues from the
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: Knicks sweeping the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cavs to
[1:00:50] Speaker 1: reach the NBA Finals?
[1:00:53] Speaker 2: Big shout out to.
[1:00:55] Speaker 8: Worldwide West, William Wesley, Leon Rose having the vision since
[1:01:00] Speaker 8: 2020 to come in and rebuild the Knicks to not
[1:01:04] Speaker 8: only a contender, but a team that can take a
[1:01:06] Speaker 8: guy that's under 6'2 and make him a number one
[1:01:10] Speaker 8: option and take it to the finals. And I think
[1:01:13] Speaker 8: there's a lot of people who said that Jalen Brunson
[1:01:16] Speaker 8: should have went to Houston Rockets and played a third
[1:01:18] Speaker 8: position because that's the only way he's going to be
[1:01:22] Speaker 8: a contending championship player. I pushed back against that. That
[1:01:26] Speaker 8: guy's name was Gilbert Arenas, by the way, that said that.
[1:01:30] Speaker 8: And a lot of guys corroborated that, like Jalen Brunson
[1:01:32] Speaker 8: is too small because there's only two other guards that
[1:01:36] Speaker 8: small that can take their teams to.
[1:01:37] Speaker 1: The finals and win. And I was against that.
[1:01:41] Speaker 8: I think that Jalen Brunson is not only a champion
[1:01:43] Speaker 8: and a leader, but he wants to win. He grew
[1:01:47] Speaker 8: up with a father that had that same spirit. And
[1:01:50] Speaker 8: I think that when you have that type of leadership,
[1:01:53] Speaker 8: you can take it anywhere you want to take it.
[1:01:54] Speaker 8: And he's been determined. He's not been faltered by any
[1:01:58] Speaker 8: of the praise that he's been getting. He's had this
[1:02:01] Speaker 8: discipline and this focus on the goal at hand. To
[1:02:06] Speaker 8: Brandon's point, as far as Cat being the main guy,
[1:02:09] Speaker 8: I would say it would be Mikael Bridges. I think
[1:02:13] Speaker 8: Mikael Bridges is shooting like 69% right now after.
[1:02:16] Speaker 1: His– trash start that he had with the playoffs.
[1:02:23] Speaker 8: We didn't know if they could win without him playing
[1:02:29] Speaker 8: good basketball, but they were able to weather the storm
[1:02:32] Speaker 8: and wait on him. Basketball is a game that you're
[1:02:35] Speaker 8: going to have your slumps and you're going to have
[1:02:38] Speaker 8: your hot streaks. I think right now when you know
[1:02:40] Speaker 8: how to play the game, get to your spots, and
[1:02:42] Speaker 8: you have a coach that can adjust the team concept
[1:02:45] Speaker 8: around having you get more comfortable and getting those comfort
[1:02:49] Speaker 8: zones and making shots and making plays, the game comes
[1:02:53] Speaker 8: to you. And I think that's what's happened with Mikael
[1:02:55] Speaker 8: Bridges where right now.
[1:02:57] Speaker 1: He is the wild card.
[1:02:59] Speaker 8: He is the guy that you have to look out
[1:03:01] Speaker 8: for when you got Cat and Brunson both playing unselfish basketball.
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: Neither one of them are trying to go for 30, 40.
[1:03:07] Speaker 8: They're out there trying to figure out how the team
[1:03:11] Speaker 8: can best focus around winning the game no matter what.
[1:03:15] Speaker 8: We're looking at The first series that they had, they
[1:03:19] Speaker 8: had like a 30-point win or a 51-point win against Atlanta.
[1:03:23] Speaker 1: Then they beat Detroit.
[1:03:25] Speaker 8: No, was it Detroit by 30? And then they ended
[1:03:30] Speaker 8: up beating this team by too much. And I think
[1:03:34] Speaker 8: that comes from knowing what the goal is. Our goal
[1:03:38] Speaker 8: is to get this done no matter who gets to shine.
[1:03:41] Speaker 8: And you look at the NBA Cup, who were the
[1:03:44] Speaker 8: two teams in the NBA Cup? Spurs-Knicks, two teams I picked.
[1:03:49] Speaker 8: So if it wasn't for Josh Hart, I would have
[1:03:52] Speaker 8: never jumped ship. And now Josh Hart got a little
[1:03:56] Speaker 8: thumb hurt, and he's regretting doing the thumb shit.
[1:03:59] Speaker 1: But after that, all the Knicks fans, the Stephen A.
[1:04:02] Speaker 8: Smiths, Josh Smiths, Steve Smiths, all of them, they're cheering
[1:04:09] Speaker 8: right now because the Knicks are finally back in contention
[1:04:12] Speaker 8: to do something they haven't done in a very, very
[1:04:14] Speaker 8: long time. And I think it's deserving. I think all
[1:04:18] Speaker 8: of those fans deserve it. I think Jalen Brunson deserves it.
[1:04:21] Speaker 8: Mikael Bridges, Josh Hart deserve it. I think Cat deserves it.
[1:04:25] Speaker 8: I think O.G. Ananobi deserves it. I think Mitchell Robinson
[1:04:30] Speaker 8: deserves it. All of those guys deserve exactly this moment
[1:04:35] Speaker 8: to be there. But like Cat said, the job's not done.
[1:04:37] Speaker 8: They want to get back to work. They don't want
[1:04:39] Speaker 8: to be complacent and try to take this energy on
[1:04:42] Speaker 8: and where they are and how they got there.
[1:04:43] Speaker 1: They just want to go and get the job done.
[1:04:46] Speaker 8: And like I said, shots for diamonds from the start, man.
[1:04:49] Speaker 8: Sometimes when you know who, you know who to pick.
[1:04:52] Speaker 8: So whenever I'm talking now, I hope y'all listening because
[1:04:55] Speaker 8: this whole year I've been trying to tell y'all how
[1:04:57] Speaker 8: I go. So at some point, proof is in the pudding.
[1:05:02] Speaker 6: You like the Knicks over the aliens? I don't know.
[1:05:12] Speaker 1: Maybe. I ain't thought about it yet.
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: Maybe.
[1:05:14] Speaker 1: We got to win first.
[1:05:15] Speaker 2: We got to win first.
[1:05:16] Speaker 8: But I got to think about that because experience plays
[1:05:20] Speaker 8: a lot more of a part than anything.
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: He'll never give you an answer.
[1:05:25] Speaker 1: Yes, I know.
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: That was easy.
[1:05:31] Speaker 1: Skateboard shift over. All right.
[1:05:33] Speaker 6: So allow me to say that I was very happy
[1:05:38] Speaker 6: last night for our producer, Rob. who's a lifelong Knicks fan,
[1:05:42] Speaker 6: and it's been a long time, man. It's been 27
[1:05:45] Speaker 6: years since they were in the finals against the Spurs.
[1:05:50] Speaker 6: And it's been, I don't know how many years, I
[1:05:52] Speaker 6: can't even do the math, on 1973 since they won
[1:05:55] Speaker 6: one because it was three years before the ABA-NBA merger.
[1:05:59] Speaker 6: So it was like dark ages going way back to
[1:06:02] Speaker 6: prehistoric NBA times that they won their last championship. And
[1:06:07] Speaker 6: I was very happy for my brother, Stephen A., because
[1:06:10] Speaker 6: he has been lifelong born and raised in Queens, Knicks fan.
[1:06:16] Speaker 6: And he suffered a lot, man. It's been a lot
[1:06:20] Speaker 6: of suffering and a lot of near misses just even
[1:06:24] Speaker 6: to almost, almost get there. And when I look at
[1:06:31] Speaker 6: what just happened, they just went on an 11-game tear, unlikely.
[1:06:35] Speaker 6: any I've ever seen in all my years of covering
[1:06:37] Speaker 6: the game you guys played at the highest level. I've
[1:06:40] Speaker 6: never seen anything like this. Because this was the all-time buzzsaw.
[1:06:44] Speaker 6: And they buzzsawed these teams in half. And we can
[1:06:49] Speaker 6: question the competition in the East, and that's valid to me.
[1:06:53] Speaker 6: But you can't question what they were doing to the competition,
[1:06:57] Speaker 6: which is, as you said, the three closeout games. And
[1:07:01] Speaker 6: it's just ridiculous what you're doing when you win closeout
[1:07:04] Speaker 6: games on the road by 51 and 30 and 31.
[1:07:09] Speaker 6: It's crazy. And when I look at what you've done
[1:07:12] Speaker 6: for the whole playoffs, you've shot 40% from three for
[1:07:15] Speaker 6: the entire playoff run. That's impossibly great. And when Shamit's
[1:07:20] Speaker 6: coming in, making 11 of 12 and shooting 60% from
[1:07:24] Speaker 6: three for the whole playoff run, that's insane. You talked
[1:07:28] Speaker 6: about Bridges, who's the X Factor. The last nine games,
[1:07:32] Speaker 6: he's played the greatest nine straight games of his lifetime.
[1:07:36] Speaker 6: And I'm looking at Cat. He's 49% from three for
[1:07:41] Speaker 6: the whole playoff run. That'll work. McBride comes in, makes 43%
[1:07:45] Speaker 6: for the whole playoff run. So I've never seen a
[1:07:50] Speaker 6: team off being down 2-1 at Atlanta catch fire and
[1:07:54] Speaker 6: stay on fire for as long as the Knicks have
[1:07:57] Speaker 6: stayed on fire. the turning point of the whole run
[1:08:01] Speaker 6: was game one against Cleveland at home when they're down
[1:08:05] Speaker 6: 22 with seven and a half left. It's just, it's over, man.
[1:08:10] Speaker 6: My wife's a Knicks fan. She was born and raised
[1:08:12] Speaker 6: in New York and she walked through and looked at
[1:08:15] Speaker 6: the score about seven and a half minutes left and
[1:08:16] Speaker 6: she said, well, that's it. They're done. And I said,
[1:08:21] Speaker 6: I don't know. It's James Harden. You know, like, to
[1:08:24] Speaker 6: your point, man, he's had so many flame outs in
[1:08:28] Speaker 6: his postseason career, and here they came and they broke
[1:08:32] Speaker 6: Cleveland's will, and then last night, as Josiah pointed out,
[1:08:37] Speaker 6: I thought maybe Donovan wanted to play last night, and
[1:08:40] Speaker 6: it's 8-2, and then no. So last night in the
[1:08:45] Speaker 6: first quarter, the Knicks had 15 fast break points in
[1:08:49] Speaker 6: the first quarter, and they had 26 by halftime. So
[1:08:53] Speaker 6: here's the point. Look at the Thunder, the best defensive
[1:08:56] Speaker 6: team through the regular season in basketball. They allowed 11
[1:09:01] Speaker 6: fast break points per game for the whole 82 game season.
[1:09:05] Speaker 6: 11 per game. And wait, Cleveland gave up 15 in
[1:09:09] Speaker 6: the first quarter and 26 by halftime? For once I
[1:09:12] Speaker 6: agreed with something Charles Barkley said because he did the
[1:09:14] Speaker 6: definition at halftime of quitting is the Cavaliers. Well it was.
[1:09:19] Speaker 6: So It's hard to put huge stock in the quality
[1:09:24] Speaker 6: of the opposition, but what they're doing is just, it's
[1:09:32] Speaker 6: never been done before like this. No matter who, if
[1:09:35] Speaker 6: they're playing college teams, it's never been done like this before,
[1:09:39] Speaker 6: where you just obliterate the opposition, where it's over after
[1:09:44] Speaker 6: a quarter. Every game except for that game one, it's
[1:09:48] Speaker 6: over after a quarter. So, and to all your points,
[1:09:53] Speaker 6: you're not hitting on five cylinders. You're hitting on 10
[1:09:56] Speaker 6: cylinders where every cylinder is, is max, max, max, max.
[1:10:01] Speaker 6: And to your point, yeah. Carl Anthony Towns just said, okay,
[1:10:06] Speaker 6: whatever you need, I'll do this because he doesn't want
[1:10:08] Speaker 6: to be first fiddle. He never want to be first.
[1:10:10] Speaker 6: He wants to, He wants to go along for a
[1:10:12] Speaker 6: nice ride, but he's incredibly gifted, and he's a really
[1:10:16] Speaker 6: good passer and facilitator. And he said, okay, I can
[1:10:19] Speaker 6: do this. I'm more comfortable doing this than having New
[1:10:23] Speaker 6: York waiting for me to have one of those Wimby games.
[1:10:26] Speaker 6: You know, I can't do what he does. I can't
[1:10:28] Speaker 6: do that every night and carry the team. And then
[1:10:32] Speaker 6: to your point about Jalen Brunson, yeah, there's only been
[1:10:36] Speaker 6: Steph and Isaiah– back in the Detroit days, be the
[1:10:42] Speaker 6: primary scorer and the reason that you go win a championship,
[1:10:47] Speaker 6: being that guy.
[1:10:48] Speaker 3: AI?
[1:10:50] Speaker 6: Yeah, but they didn't win. I'm talking about winning a championship.
[1:10:54] Speaker 2: Oh, in college he ain't won it yet, though. Okay, okay.
[1:10:57] Speaker 1: He ain't won it yet.
[1:10:59] Speaker 6: Okay, you're talking about AI. Okay, no, Jalen. Yeah, yeah, no,
[1:11:03] Speaker 6: I got it. But he got them there, which, man, remember,
[1:11:08] Speaker 6: Steph is like, when I'm standing up next to Steph,
[1:11:11] Speaker 6: I feel like they list him at 6'3, and he's
[1:11:13] Speaker 6: at least 6'2, to me, at least. What do you
[1:11:16] Speaker 6: say you are, 6'1? 6'1, 6'2. Okay, because I think
[1:11:18] Speaker 6: Steph's about an inch taller than you. And Isaiah Thomas,
[1:11:21] Speaker 6: who I was around a whole lot, I mean, he
[1:11:24] Speaker 6: was a full, he's 6'1, and Jalen Brunson.
[1:11:30] Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure he's barely six feet.
[1:11:33] Speaker 1: Barely.
[1:11:34] Speaker 2: I don't know, man.
[1:11:35] Speaker 6: It's hard. It's just hard because it's a tall man's sport.
[1:11:42] Speaker 6: And he is a little man to me, even though
[1:11:44] Speaker 6: he's stoutly built and he can create space with anybody
[1:11:50] Speaker 6: for his little jumper, his little step back.
[1:11:52] Speaker 2: But still.
[1:11:54] Speaker 6: He did that. They did that. So we can talk
[1:11:58] Speaker 6: all you want about what's about to happen next, but
[1:12:01] Speaker 6: they did do that. And I give them like the
[1:12:04] Speaker 6: highest credit you can give them for just laying waste
[1:12:07] Speaker 6: to a whole conference through the whole playoff run.
[1:12:10] Speaker 2: When did that little guard can't win a championship stuff
[1:12:14] Speaker 2: start happening? Like when did that become a thing? When
[1:12:18] Speaker 2: Gil said it.
[1:12:20] Speaker 1: Becky Hammer, I think. Was it because of IT or something?
[1:12:23] Speaker 1: Because of Isaiah Thomas? Isaiah Thomas and Steph. Are you
[1:12:27] Speaker 1: talking about little IT?
[1:12:29] Speaker 2: He was cooking.
[1:12:30] Speaker 1: He was averaging 30.
[1:12:31] Speaker 2: He looked like Bronson a little bit.
[1:12:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, they played similar.
[1:12:35] Speaker 7: Yeah, but from the record, it's odd to see a
[1:12:39] Speaker 7: 6'2 guard, 6'1 guard win it all and be the
[1:12:42] Speaker 7: number one option.
[1:12:43] Speaker 3: For Isaiah, he did his Steph, 6'2.
[1:12:46] Speaker 7: That's why I say AI, he got there, but he
[1:12:50] Speaker 7: didn't win it.
[1:12:51] Speaker 3: So it is rare.
[1:12:52] Speaker 1: That's the guy. The number one out.
[1:12:55] Speaker 3: This would be rare. I mean, I don't know if
[1:12:56] Speaker 3: the Knicks can. I don't know. We'll see.
[1:13:00] Speaker 2: You got to be really good as a little guy.
[1:13:04] Speaker 6: When you played, were there ever nights when you felt like,
[1:13:09] Speaker 6: I wish I were four inches taller?
[1:13:11] Speaker 2: Did you ever?
[1:13:13] Speaker 6: Did bigger guards take you where you just said, God,
[1:13:16] Speaker 6: I mean, to me you're tall, but you're not.
[1:13:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, no, those Russell Westbrooks, those D. Rose, even, like, D.
[1:13:23] Speaker 3: Rose 6'4, like, those bigger guards, like, even Gil, like,
[1:13:26] Speaker 3: he was bigger.
[1:13:27] Speaker 1: He was, yeah.
[1:13:28] Speaker 3: Those bigger guards to me, of course.
[1:13:29] Speaker 7: Like, right when I got to the league, the first
[1:13:31] Speaker 7: player that took me right to the post was Chauncey
[1:13:33] Speaker 7: Billups and Jason Gil.
[1:13:34] Speaker 1: Oh, God.
[1:13:35] Speaker 3: So it's like, you know, nah, fella, we ain't running
[1:13:37] Speaker 3: around all night.
[1:13:38] Speaker 7: We're not going to do all that right here. Get
[1:13:39] Speaker 7: to go sit down, like. So those were definitely moments
[1:13:42] Speaker 7: in my career where I was like.
[1:13:43] Speaker 2: I thought it was Chauncey, like 6'4. 6'4.
[1:13:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, like 6'4.
[1:13:46] Speaker 6: 6'3, 6'4.
[1:13:47] Speaker 1: I said, they won.
[1:13:47] Speaker 2: Yeah. He was the leading leader of that team.
[1:13:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, but we're saying 6'2, like 6'2.
[1:13:55] Speaker 2: 6'2. 6'2.
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:13:58] Speaker 6: So what they have to do is Jalen does, can
[1:14:02] Speaker 6: struggle on defense. And you can, I see they'll hunt him.
[1:14:07] Speaker 6: But they do a great job of covering for him
[1:14:10] Speaker 6: with everybody because they got lots of good, like Ananobi's
[1:14:13] Speaker 6: a great wing defender. Bridges is a great long wing
[1:14:15] Speaker 6: defender where they can help. It's almost like San Antonio,
[1:14:20] Speaker 6: you're talking about stunt and recover. You know, they're good
[1:14:23] Speaker 6: at doing that for Jalen where he can kind of
[1:14:27] Speaker 6: stay in the middle of it and not get exposed
[1:14:30] Speaker 6: exposed where we're suddenly like Harden in the comeback game
[1:14:34] Speaker 6: where they're just, He's got no help, and he's just here.
[1:14:37] Speaker 6: Go at him.
[1:14:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
[1:14:39] Speaker 6: Okay, so Jalen can be a little bit of a
[1:14:42] Speaker 6: defensive liability, but they have figured a way to cloak it,
[1:14:46] Speaker 6: to disguise it or cover for it.
[1:14:48] Speaker 8: There's a difference. There's a difference between I don't want
[1:14:53] Speaker 8: to play defense.
[1:14:54] Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true.
[1:14:55] Speaker 1: And I can't play defense, right? So you can.
[1:14:58] Speaker 8: I'm not going to say Jalen can't play defense, but
[1:15:00] Speaker 8: he actually is out there moving his puppies. He's actually
[1:15:03] Speaker 8: trying to put his chest in front of the offensive player.
[1:15:06] Speaker 8: He's buying into the team concept of rotating, getting out
[1:15:10] Speaker 8: to the shooter, pressuring them. He actually tries to play defense,
[1:15:14] Speaker 8: and I think that's the difference between him and any
[1:15:17] Speaker 8: other point guard. Outside of SGA, because SGA does try
[1:15:20] Speaker 8: to put... He's not no let you go. The stuff
[1:15:23] Speaker 8: that James Harden was doing, the stuff that Luka does,
[1:15:27] Speaker 8: those are guys that are just like, you got to
[1:15:31] Speaker 8: outplay me.
[1:15:32] Speaker 2: You got to outplay me.
[1:15:33] Speaker 8: And I think with the competitiveness of a Jalen Brunson
[1:15:36] Speaker 8: being that small, it was similar to a guy like
[1:15:39] Speaker 8: Isaiah Thomas and that guy.
[1:15:42] Speaker 1: Even Steph.
[1:15:42] Speaker 8: Steph was never a I'm going to let you go
[1:15:44] Speaker 8: right past me because he knew Draymond was back there like, yo...
[1:15:48] Speaker 8: I need you to give me something so that we
[1:15:50] Speaker 8: all have room to rotate.
[1:15:52] Speaker 6: And Steph led the league when you're in steals because
[1:15:55] Speaker 6: of that.
[1:15:56] Speaker 2: But is that really considered leading the team by yourself, Steph?
[1:16:01] Speaker 1: Who? I would push.
[1:16:04] Speaker 2: Back against that. Me too.
[1:16:05] Speaker 1: I didn't like that.
[1:16:06] Speaker 8: But he led the team in scoring, which is that's
[1:16:09] Speaker 8: why they're like a smaller guard that can lead the
[1:16:12] Speaker 8: team in scoring to the championship.
[1:16:14] Speaker 1: That's what they're considering. Like Isaiah. And like you said, with.
[1:16:17] Speaker 8: Chauncey being 6'3, 6'4, you're not going to put him
[1:16:20] Speaker 8: in that category. But if them's the only two players,
[1:16:24] Speaker 8: you got to say that's what it is.
[1:16:26] Speaker 1: But I know what you're saying as far as he
[1:16:28] Speaker 1: had more help than anything.
[1:16:32] Speaker 2: I'm thinking like Iverson team type of. That's what you
[1:16:37] Speaker 2: call leading a team to the championship. Steph had. KD
[1:16:41] Speaker 2: at 1.2. I don't think he led the team that year.
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: What about before that? He didn't lead the team that year.
[1:16:47] Speaker 1: What?
[1:16:47] Speaker 2: With KD.
[1:16:48] Speaker 3: No, no, I'm talking about before that, though.
[1:16:49] Speaker 2: The first championship.
[1:16:50] Speaker 3: The first championship.
[1:16:52] Speaker 2: He had Klay. He had Barnes averaging. They both averaged
[1:16:55] Speaker 2: 20 points down there.
[1:16:57] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[1:16:58] Speaker 2: Klay averaged 22. Steph was MVP.
[1:17:01] Speaker 6: But Steph wasn't the MVP at the time.
[1:17:03] Speaker 1: He wasn't MVP. Back to back.
[1:17:04] Speaker 2: Thank you. So did he lead it?
[1:17:06] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:17:06] Speaker 2: That's... I get that, but I'm saying the whole year, though.
[1:17:11] Speaker 1: There's a lot of discrepancies in the stuff. The whole year.
[1:17:15] Speaker 8: It's a lot of moving parts with Steph.
[1:17:18] Speaker 1: He was unanimous MVP that season. That was the year
[1:17:21] Speaker 1: he was unanimous? 2016. I think people seem to feel,
[1:17:24] Speaker 1: even Andre Iguodala, that maybe.
[1:17:26] Speaker 7: Can we go back to the Brunson part?
[1:17:28] Speaker 3: I do feel, though, Brunson ain't played against nobody yet
[1:17:31] Speaker 3: in the East.
[1:17:32] Speaker 1: Why not?
[1:17:32] Speaker 3: To be able to say he's a defender.
[1:17:35] Speaker 1: I feel like... Tyrese Maxey?
[1:17:37] Speaker 2: Listen, 4-0.
[1:17:38] Speaker 7: Listen, yeah, they were– but I'm saying like– Who do
[1:17:42] Speaker 7: we need to play against? No, but listen, I'm saying
[1:17:44] Speaker 7: if the Spurs get to the finals, it's going to
[1:17:46] Speaker 7: look different though with him out there. He's going to
[1:17:48] Speaker 7: have to really play– all five guys.
[1:17:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, whichever team he goes against. Everybody can– yeah. But
[1:17:54] Speaker 2: he is good, just what I said.
[1:17:56] Speaker 1: When I said.
[1:17:56] Speaker 2: He's really, really good as a basketball player.
[1:17:58] Speaker 3: He's getting by right now.
[1:18:00] Speaker 1: How?
[1:18:00] Speaker 6: How?
[1:18:01] Speaker 7: I think he's getting by because of who they're playing against.
[1:18:04] Speaker 2: The Spurs got way better guards.
[1:18:06] Speaker 1: Remember what we said? This is what we said.
[1:18:08] Speaker 8: We said you can't put nobody the same size as
[1:18:12] Speaker 8: Brunson on Brunson.
[1:18:14] Speaker 1: You got to put a bigger guy on him.
[1:18:16] Speaker 8: We all say there's got to be a 6'6, 6'7,
[1:18:19] Speaker 8: guy to give him harder chances to score because he
[1:18:24] Speaker 8: know what he doing down there where you're too small
[1:18:26] Speaker 8: for me.
[1:18:27] Speaker 1: I'm 6'1.
[1:18:28] Speaker 2: How are you too small for me at 6'3?
[1:18:29] Speaker 3: I'm talking about him guarding.
[1:18:31] Speaker 2: He got to guard.
[1:18:33] Speaker 1: That's the whole team defensive concept where everybody.
[1:18:35] Speaker 8: Be like, oh, yo, match up. Mike Brown is a
[1:18:38] Speaker 8: genius when it comes to covering for the guy just
[1:18:42] Speaker 8: like he did with De'Aaron Fox.
[1:18:44] Speaker 7: So what's going to happen if they play against the Spurs,
[1:18:46] Speaker 7: when all four guards can go?
[1:18:48] Speaker 2: What you mean? As far as offensively? No, defensively for him.
[1:18:53] Speaker 7: I feel like Jalen Brunson is getting, because he's not
[1:18:55] Speaker 7: going against nobody.
[1:18:56] Speaker 8: He's going to line up against whoever's attacking him, and
[1:19:00] Speaker 8: we're going to make adjustments as a team.
[1:19:02] Speaker 2: If the Knicks play the Spurs, they're going to win it.
[1:19:06] Speaker 2: If the Knicks play the Spurs, they win the championship.
[1:19:07] Speaker 1: The Knicks win it? Yeah. But why?
[1:19:13] Speaker 2: They got everything. They got length.
[1:19:17] Speaker 1: No, we know that. That's the obvious. They got town.
[1:19:20] Speaker 8: What's going to be the difference maker for the Knicks
[1:19:23] Speaker 8: that make them the champion when it comes to strategy,
[1:19:28] Speaker 8: when it comes to, all right, what's the game plan
[1:19:30] Speaker 8: that's going to make us beat them?
[1:19:32] Speaker 1: Because there's a lot of moving parts with that.
[1:19:34] Speaker 3: And that's why I'm saying, who is he going to be?
[1:19:36] Speaker 1: I'm going right at that. That Brunson.
[1:19:38] Speaker 8: That can't be your game plan if you're San Antonio
[1:19:42] Speaker 8: because that's not how we got here.
[1:19:43] Speaker 2: What did they do in the end-season tournament?
[1:19:45] Speaker 1: With Brunson and them?
[1:19:46] Speaker 2: When they won it.
[1:19:48] Speaker 1: They attacked San Antonio. Brunson attacked them.
[1:19:51] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
[1:19:56] Speaker 8: Remember, Wimby was just now trying to get back from
[1:19:58] Speaker 8: his minutes restrictions and shit, so he wasn't playing full throttle.
[1:20:02] Speaker 1: Brunson was locked in.
[1:20:04] Speaker 2: I think– Boston is hard to guard. He is very
[1:20:06] Speaker 2: hard to guard. He's hard to guard. He's hard to guard.
[1:20:09] Speaker 1: You can't just go at.
[1:20:10] Speaker 2: Who is he going to guard? You got to let him–
[1:20:12] Speaker 2: you got to make him work also.
[1:20:13] Speaker 1: You do.
[1:20:13] Speaker 7: It's the same thing with San Antonio's doing to SGA.
[1:20:16] Speaker 7: You're making him work also. He's not just sitting around.
[1:20:19] Speaker 2: No, for sure. That's what I'm saying.
[1:20:20] Speaker 7: Like, he's going to have to guard somebody if he's
[1:20:22] Speaker 7: playing against the Spurs.
[1:20:23] Speaker 1: That's what Cleveland didn't do. They didn't make him guard.
[1:20:26] Speaker 2: Well, they don't have– they don't have– They had two
[1:20:28] Speaker 2: guys that they can make them work. Well, they don't have, like,
[1:20:30] Speaker 2: the Spurs. The Spurs are young, and they're like, bro, they.
[1:20:33] Speaker 8: They're going to go down there and get more athletic
[1:20:36] Speaker 8: than he is. It's going to be tougher for him athletically.
[1:20:40] Speaker 8: If he's going downhill on Jalen Brunson, he don't have
[1:20:42] Speaker 8: the power or athleticism to get over Dylan Harper or Castle.
[1:20:49] Speaker 1: Yes. or Vassell when you got to switch off on
[1:20:53] Speaker 1: them and it's.
[1:20:54] Speaker 2: Just catch and go. And they're not, Castle's not a shooter.
[1:20:57] Speaker 1: But we're not talking about shooters just getting to the rim.
[1:20:59] Speaker 1: What do they do?
[1:20:59] Speaker 2: They just go to the rim and just jump over you.
[1:21:01] Speaker 2: And then he got to come back down and guard Castle.
[1:21:03] Speaker 2: It's not like he averaging 30 doing that, though.
[1:21:05] Speaker 1: No, he's not.
[1:21:05] Speaker 2: He's not averaging 30. But if we get 10, if
[1:21:08] Speaker 2: we get... It looked good because he dunked, but it
[1:21:10] Speaker 2: was 13 points.
[1:21:10] Speaker 8: But if we get 5, 5, and 5 from those three...
[1:21:14] Speaker 8: We get five points from Harper, five from Vassell, five
[1:21:18] Speaker 8: from Castle.
[1:21:19] Speaker 1: Arm Brunson? Arm Brunson? That's a difference maker.
[1:21:24] Speaker 2: Vassell can score. That's why I don't think.
[1:21:26] Speaker 1: OKC can match that because they don't.
[1:21:29] Speaker 8: Have those offensive guys to go up against Brunson.
[1:21:32] Speaker 1: Their guys are hurt.
[1:21:33] Speaker 3: Their guys are hurt.
[1:21:35] Speaker 2: Even Mitchell.
[1:21:36] Speaker 8: Mitchell and I, I think they match up well. He
[1:21:38] Speaker 8: can guard Mitchell. I think he can guard Mitchell. It's
[1:21:41] Speaker 8: harder for him to guard a Jalen Williams because he's
[1:21:43] Speaker 8: a fucking small forward.
[1:21:45] Speaker 1: But he can match up with Mitchell. So Spurs and
[1:21:48] Speaker 1: Knicks split the regular season, NBA Cup championship. Technically doesn't
[1:21:51] Speaker 1: count as a game, obviously. Knicks got that one. So
[1:21:54] Speaker 1: technically 2-1. 2-1 Knicks? In all games that they played
[1:21:58] Speaker 1: this year.
[1:21:58] Speaker 8: What was the score outcome on the 1-1?
[1:22:03] Speaker 1: So they played New Year's Eve, I believe. The Spurs
[1:22:09] Speaker 1: won that game by two. Then they played again March 1st.
[1:22:12] Speaker 1: And the Knicks won that one.
[1:22:16] Speaker 2: How much?
[1:22:16] Speaker 3: 114-89, I believe.
[1:22:17] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:22:17] Speaker 2: And that's when the Spurs was hot, too. You're sticky.
[1:22:26] Speaker 1: It's Cat.
[1:22:27] Speaker 3: It's going to be on Cat. Cat is the factor.
[1:22:29] Speaker 2: Man, Bronson is hard to guard.
[1:22:31] Speaker 1: I agree.
[1:22:32] Speaker 8: I'm rolling with you. I don't like Cat winning the matchup.
[1:22:35] Speaker 8: I don't like it.
[1:22:35] Speaker 1: For who? I don't like it for Wimby. Oh, yeah. Okay.
[1:22:38] Speaker 1: I'm about to say, yeah. Because it's hard to guard.
[1:22:39] Speaker 1: He's not afraid.
[1:22:39] Speaker 2: I'm about to say, I like it for Cat. He's
[1:22:41] Speaker 2: not afraid.
[1:22:41] Speaker 8: Because Cat can shoot the ball from out there, and
[1:22:43] Speaker 8: it's hard.
[1:22:44] Speaker 2: And he got the pump fake.
[1:22:45] Speaker 1: He can get him in foul trouble. He like to
[1:22:47] Speaker 1: flop a lot. But he can score. But what do
[1:22:50] Speaker 1: Cat do that we all hate? He fouls.
[1:22:54] Speaker 8: Stupid fouls. He don't like to move his feet. Then
[1:22:58] Speaker 8: you got to depend on Mitchell Robertson. So that's going
[1:23:00] Speaker 8: to be the difference maker is how aggressive can Cat
[1:23:03] Speaker 8: be without getting in foul trouble? And then if Wimby
[1:23:06] Speaker 8: can actually go out there and guard him.
[1:23:08] Speaker 2: They got OG. Come on, man. The Knicks are lanky
[1:23:15] Speaker 2: out there, bro. They match up good. We got Johnson
[1:23:17] Speaker 2: that match up with OG.
[1:23:21] Speaker 1: Johnson? Mm-hmm. Kelton Johnson matchup with OG.
[1:23:24] Speaker 3: Yeah, you got matchups.
[1:23:25] Speaker 1: We got matchups. No way. Yeah.
[1:23:29] Speaker 8: Hart matchup with Castle. You say Castle. Then you got Bridges, Harper.
[1:23:33] Speaker 8: You got Fox, Brunson, Wimby, Cat. You got a lot
[1:23:38] Speaker 8: of guys. You got off the bench.
[1:23:39] Speaker 2: You got Carter Bryant and Landry Shamit. That's what I'm saying.
[1:23:43] Speaker 8: They got Champagne and Shamit. Don't even say Carter. Just
[1:23:46] Speaker 8: Champagne and Shamit. You got Harrison Barnes and McBride. You
[1:23:50] Speaker 8: got a lot of different joints out there.
[1:23:53] Speaker 3: That you can throw at Brunson.
[1:23:55] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:23:55] Speaker 2: You don't think Brunson's seen everything?
[1:23:57] Speaker 1: He has.
[1:23:58] Speaker 2: And he's ready for it. No, no, no. I know
[1:24:01] Speaker 2: he's ready for it.
[1:24:02] Speaker 7: But listen, if they get to the finals, you got
[1:24:05] Speaker 7: to win four games against them youngins.
[1:24:08] Speaker 1: But they said Wimby was going to be tired.
[1:24:10] Speaker 8: They said Wimby was going to be tired and he
[1:24:13] Speaker 8: was going to gas out before he got the Joker
[1:24:16] Speaker 8: and all of this shit. Now we burping babies in
[1:24:18] Speaker 8: the conference finals and he's averaging 30 and 16. on 59%
[1:24:23] Speaker 8: and 38% from three.
[1:24:25] Speaker 1: Where is the fucking fatigue?
[1:24:28] Speaker 2: Where is all the tired shit?
[1:24:29] Speaker 8: He's 22 years old, like I say, and we ain't
[1:24:32] Speaker 8: scared of none of that shit.
[1:24:33] Speaker 1: When we get to the next round, we're going to
[1:24:35] Speaker 1: be ready for more.
[1:24:36] Speaker 2: He's not getting to the next round, man.
[1:24:38] Speaker 1: I think we're looking ahead right now. Obviously, there's still
[1:24:40] Speaker 1: Western Conference Finals. That's tied to it, too. We'll have
[1:24:43] Speaker 1: some more clarity on that. We're just looking out the window, Joe.
[1:24:44] Speaker 1: We're just looking out the window. Let's shift back over
[1:24:47] Speaker 1: to the Knicks. So back in 2023, current aces, Coach
[1:24:50] Speaker 1: Becky Hammond caused a stir when she said Jalen Brunson
[1:24:52] Speaker 1: wasn't the guy to lead the Knicks to the promised land,
[1:24:55] Speaker 1: noting that if a team's best player is small, they're
[1:24:57] Speaker 1: not winning a chip. But Brunson joined some rare company
[1:25:00] Speaker 1: in being an undersized number one option to reach the finals.
[1:25:03] Speaker 1: So the Knicks captain was named the Eastern Conference Finals
[1:25:05] Speaker 1: MVP after averaging 26 points and eight assists. Also to
[1:25:09] Speaker 1: remind you that Brunson took a $ 113 million pay cut
[1:25:12] Speaker 1: in the summer of 2024 to allow the Knicks to
[1:25:14] Speaker 1: be able to build this roster around him, bringing in
[1:25:17] Speaker 1: Kat McHale-Bridges, re-signing OG Ananobi, amongst other things, and now
[1:25:21] Speaker 1: he's four games away from being a champion. So Skip,
[1:25:25] Speaker 1: what does Jalen Brunson mean to the Knicks and to
[1:25:27] Speaker 1: the city of New York?
[1:25:31] Speaker 6: You know what I love the most about him? His
[1:25:34] Speaker 6: post-game interviews, his humility. And he always, even when he
[1:25:40] Speaker 6: got presented the finals MVP trophy last night, first thing
[1:25:46] Speaker 6: he said was, it's about these guys around me. And
[1:25:49] Speaker 6: it comes across as cliched and like he's ducking the question.
[1:25:53] Speaker 6: But no, I think he really believes in the team
[1:25:57] Speaker 6: around him. Because I think he learned some hard lessons
[1:26:02] Speaker 6: a year ago, two years ago. He can't do it
[1:26:05] Speaker 6: all by himself because he tried several times. And again,
[1:26:09] Speaker 6: he's not the biggest guy. And if you go JB
[1:26:14] Speaker 6: or bust, there's going to be a lot of bust
[1:26:17] Speaker 6: because it's just too hard on him. He can't just
[1:26:20] Speaker 6: take completely over a game flying solo. And this is
[1:26:26] Speaker 6: a basketball team, man. And he's thanking everybody around him
[1:26:31] Speaker 6: because they're all shooting 40%, 50% from three. So the
[1:26:35] Speaker 6: ball is moving. Cat's moving the ball, facilitating. And it
[1:26:39] Speaker 6: took some onus and focus off Jalen Brunson, and he
[1:26:45] Speaker 6: didn't flinch about it. He doesn't mind it at all.
[1:26:49] Speaker 6: And Shea Gilgis-Alexander has a lot of that in him.
[1:26:53] Speaker 6: That's been a big reason for Oklahoma City's success. It's
[1:26:56] Speaker 6: one for all, all for one. And with Jalen Brunson,
[1:27:01] Speaker 6: he is the leader of that team, but he doesn't
[1:27:05] Speaker 6: want to be the focal point of that team. And
[1:27:08] Speaker 6: I respect him for that. That's why they're so good
[1:27:12] Speaker 6: is because you know, with the Lucas of the world,
[1:27:16] Speaker 6: he's got to be the man. And Jalen Brunson doesn't
[1:27:19] Speaker 6: have to carry himself like I'm the man here. They're
[1:27:23] Speaker 6: all the men. And he knows it and learned hard
[1:27:27] Speaker 6: lessons that way. So I just appreciated the way he
[1:27:30] Speaker 6: handled it last night. And it validated to me what
[1:27:35] Speaker 6: a force they've become despite the lack of competition, which
[1:27:39] Speaker 6: I agree with you. But they've become a force because
[1:27:43] Speaker 6: He's such a forceful leader of that basketball team.
[1:27:46] Speaker 1: And if.
[1:27:49] Speaker 6: You came out of nowhere and all of a sudden
[1:27:53] Speaker 6: the city's at your feet, that city, greatest city in
[1:27:56] Speaker 6: the world, even though I love L.A.
[1:27:58] Speaker 2: L.A., I understand. I chose.
[1:28:02] Speaker 6: I lived in New York for 20 years and I'm
[1:28:04] Speaker 6: here and I want to stay here.
[1:28:05] Speaker 2: But again, I understand. But the tag on New York is,
[1:28:08] Speaker 2: is from.
[1:28:11] Speaker 6: Frank Sinatra on down.
[1:28:12] Speaker 1: It's like the greatest city. Yeah. I got it.
[1:28:14] Speaker 6: But, but the point is, it can just suck you
[1:28:29] Speaker 6: in and drain you dry. If, if you become a
[1:28:32] Speaker 6: star in New York and you're not ready for it,
[1:28:35] Speaker 6: because it is kind of like a small town in
[1:28:37] Speaker 6: how tightly built it is. It's so contained and everywhere
[1:28:42] Speaker 6: you're going to go in Manhattan, it's you, you, you, you, you.
[1:28:46] Speaker 6: And Jalen Brunson hadn't fallen into that trap to me.
[1:28:49] Speaker 6: He's still Jalen Brunson and The more they win, the
[1:28:53] Speaker 6: more humble he gets. And I appreciate that because that's
[1:28:56] Speaker 6: rare to me.
[1:28:56] Speaker 8: I sound like you was just describing some work I've
[1:28:59] Speaker 8: been in New York.
[1:29:02] Speaker 1: Look you in, spit you out. Drain you.
[1:29:06] Speaker 8: Knock your socks off.
[1:29:12] Speaker 1: But what does Jalen Brunson mean to the Knicks and
[1:29:16] Speaker 1: the city of New York? King of New York right now,
[1:29:19] Speaker 1: holding it down. has the Knicks in the finals for
[1:29:21] Speaker 1: the first time since 1999, sacrificed his own bread, which,
[1:29:26] Speaker 1: depending on when it's time to re-up again, may or
[1:29:28] Speaker 1: may not be as huge of a pay cut as
[1:29:31] Speaker 1: people would assume. But nonetheless, gave up that $ 113 million
[1:29:34] Speaker 1: to facilitate this roster being built.
[1:29:37] Speaker 7: Man, I mean, depending on how the finals go or regardless,
[1:29:40] Speaker 7: he might need the National Guard protecting him in New
[1:29:42] Speaker 7: York City, how much they're going to love him. But
[1:29:46] Speaker 7: just off what Skip said, man, just his leadership. And
[1:29:48] Speaker 7: when you look at, I think when you just look
[1:29:50] Speaker 7: at the Knicks and you look at all the guys
[1:29:52] Speaker 7: who played for the Knicks, from all the supporters, you
[1:29:55] Speaker 7: can see that it's about the Knicks.
[1:29:57] Speaker 3: Like, it's not about just one player.
[1:29:58] Speaker 7: Like, you see Patrick Hewitt, you see John Starks, you
[1:30:00] Speaker 7: see Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson, Shimon Shumpert, all these guys
[1:30:04] Speaker 7: that played and they just come together. And that's what
[1:30:07] Speaker 7: it is about being a Knick. I play for the Knicks. And,
[1:30:10] Speaker 7: you know, I always say once you play for the Knicks,
[1:30:12] Speaker 7: you're always a Knick.
[1:30:13] Speaker 3: So, It's just the team atmosphere. It's the city atmosphere.
[1:30:17] Speaker 7: I do love that he knows this about his team
[1:30:20] Speaker 7: and about the city because it's going to just help
[1:30:22] Speaker 7: him in the long run. If he does win it all,
[1:30:26] Speaker 7: I mean, come on, it's going to be insane for
[1:30:29] Speaker 7: that guy. So it's just perfect timing. The way social
[1:30:33] Speaker 7: media is, he has a chance right now to be
[1:30:36] Speaker 7: the greatest Knick player ever to me.
[1:30:39] Speaker 3: If he gets it done. And, you know, he got
[1:30:42] Speaker 3: four games to try to figure it out. So we'll see, man.
[1:30:45] Speaker 3: But he's on the high.
[1:30:48] Speaker 1: The greatest Knicks ever if they get a chance.
[1:30:51] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
[1:30:52] Speaker 1: Okay.
[1:30:53] Speaker 2: Well, sure. One thing I like about the Knicks is
[1:30:57] Speaker 2: their fan base, bro. Like, they don't care.
[1:30:59] Speaker 1: I love it.
[1:31:00] Speaker 2: I love that they're out there every game cheering. They're
[1:31:04] Speaker 2: not worried about what people think or what people are
[1:31:07] Speaker 2: going to say. They I feel like a college atmosphere
[1:31:10] Speaker 2: out there. From the J.R. Smith getting trampled, but that's love.
[1:31:18] Speaker 2: You feel the love.
[1:31:19] Speaker 1: Did not take the VIP exit when J.R.
[1:31:22] Speaker 2: Smith popped up. Man of the people, stuff like that.
[1:31:26] Speaker 2: From Spike Lee and their whole front row court side.
[1:31:30] Speaker 2: They are true believers. I like that. For Bronson, I
[1:31:34] Speaker 2: feel like it's nothing like playing with people you know.
[1:31:38] Speaker 2: and comfortable with. Y'all know each other. That don't happen
[1:31:44] Speaker 2: in the NBA. That do not happen. Like playing with friends,
[1:31:48] Speaker 2: somebody you consider a good friend, you went to school
[1:31:51] Speaker 2: with already, grew up with.
[1:31:53] Speaker 1: LeBron James? Who he play with? I didn't mean that.
[1:31:57] Speaker 1: That was just a trigger. It's just my bad.
[1:31:59] Speaker 2: He knew D-Wade, baby?
[1:32:00] Speaker 1: My bad. No, I don't like.
[1:32:04] Speaker 2: They got it done in college, too. And the same
[1:32:07] Speaker 2: guys you... Got it done, we come to your team
[1:32:11] Speaker 2: in New York, and y'all, like, that's like a dream
[1:32:14] Speaker 2: come true. That's stuff you make up in the backyard,
[1:32:17] Speaker 2: and your dad, the coach, y'all are owners. Like, this
[1:32:20] Speaker 2: don't happen. This is like destiny right here, bro. So
[1:32:24] Speaker 2: I feel like, man, I think they got it. I
[1:32:29] Speaker 2: think destiny is on their side. I would love to
[1:32:34] Speaker 2: see New York win, but, you know, it depends on
[1:32:37] Speaker 2: who they play. I feel like they... has a chance
[1:32:40] Speaker 2: for that. New York will have fun. He already gonna
[1:32:44] Speaker 2: get a statue, Bronson. I feel like all five of
[1:32:46] Speaker 2: them will get a statue.
[1:32:47] Speaker 1: They will get a statue.
[1:32:48] Speaker 2: Like this starting five. There'll be a starting five statue.
[1:32:51] Speaker 2: Outside of the joint. The towns, all of them.
[1:32:55] Speaker 3: Will just, yeah.
[1:32:57] Speaker 2: They need to get Wilfred. They need to get Wilfred.
[1:33:01] Speaker 1: That man. That era. Just a thumb?
[1:33:05] Speaker 2: They never got it done. They all have it.
[1:33:11] Speaker 1: What does Jalen Brunson mean to the Knicks in the
[1:33:14] Speaker 1: city of New York? We got to go through the timeline.
[1:33:17] Speaker 8: First of all, I think the appreciation timeline of Jalen
[1:33:20] Speaker 8: Brunson needs.
[1:33:21] Speaker 1: To be recognized.
[1:33:22] Speaker 8: He was the second round pick in the 2018 draft
[1:33:26] Speaker 8: to the Dallas Mavericks. Mark Cuban thought he was being smart.
[1:33:31] Speaker 8: Then he ended up being real dumb saying that he
[1:33:35] Speaker 8: didn't want to pay Jalen Brunson. Didn't think he was
[1:33:38] Speaker 8: worth the investment. Forced him out of Dallas, which pushed
[1:33:45] Speaker 8: him to New York. Then you get to New York,
[1:33:48] Speaker 8: and you see that New York is rebuilding. I want
[1:33:50] Speaker 8: to bring some of my guys in. What do I
[1:33:52] Speaker 8: have to do to make that happen? Because I can
[1:33:54] Speaker 8: be more efficient and effective with guys that I know
[1:33:58] Speaker 8: can do what I need them to do so.
[1:34:00] Speaker 1: That I can play my best basketball.
[1:34:02] Speaker 3: Okay, Jalen, listen.
[1:34:05] Speaker 1: Take this money. We're going to pay you back.
[1:34:08] Speaker 8: We're going to pay you back, but we need a
[1:34:11] Speaker 8: discount and we need you to believe in what we're doing. Now,
[1:34:15] Speaker 8: I had conversations with somebody. I got sources to Stephen A.
[1:34:18] Speaker 1: Smith.
[1:34:20] Speaker 8: And those sources told me that this is a family
[1:34:24] Speaker 8: called La Familia. And inside that family, people believe that
[1:34:28] Speaker 8: the things that are going to go down, go down.
[1:34:31] Speaker 8: And we're going to do right by you based on
[1:34:33] Speaker 8: you doing right by us and leading us to where
[1:34:35] Speaker 8: we want to go.
[1:34:36] Speaker 1: And I think Jalen.
[1:34:37] Speaker 8: Brunson has done that, seeing that he has the biggest
[1:34:40] Speaker 8: chip on his shoulder being an underdog coming from championship
[1:34:43] Speaker 8: pedigree in college, knowing what he can bring to an
[1:34:46] Speaker 8: NBA team, being overlooked and being told that Luka Doncic
[1:34:51] Speaker 8: is better than you. Now, right now, in this particular juncture,
[1:34:57] Speaker 8: Jalen Brunson's not first-team All-NBA, but he is second-team All-NBA.
[1:35:01] Speaker 1: But he is going to the finals, right? So, Luka's
[1:35:05] Speaker 1: been to the finals, too.
[1:35:07] Speaker 8: So, the second-round pick has been exactly where the first-round
[1:35:10] Speaker 8: pick was.
[1:35:12] Speaker 1: And I took a pay cut to get there. And
[1:35:15] Speaker 1: I believed in the ownership.
[1:35:16] Speaker 8: I believed in the executives and Leon Rose and William
[1:35:20] Speaker 8: Wesley to get us the players that we need. Kentucky, Cat,
[1:35:25] Speaker 8: they know Uncle Wes well. They know Leon. OG know him.
[1:35:29] Speaker 8: Everybody know him. Everybody's familiar with the pedigree. So you
[1:35:33] Speaker 8: talk about being in New York City, which I knew
[1:35:36] Speaker 8: Leon and Wes being in New York to take over
[1:35:39] Speaker 8: any organization. That being the particular organization, it was going
[1:35:43] Speaker 8: to turn everything on its head. So Jalen Brunson being
[1:35:46] Speaker 8: the actual focal point of that and everybody doubting that
[1:35:49] Speaker 8: a little guy like him can take it big. Him
[1:35:52] Speaker 8: and his dad having documented proof of them going out
[1:35:55] Speaker 8: there and working like he got game. You got to
[1:35:58] Speaker 8: do it like this, son. You got to stop being
[1:36:01] Speaker 8: such a punk and toughen up. Get your mind tough.
[1:36:05] Speaker 8: These things are going to happen to you in the games.
[1:36:08] Speaker 8: And now you see Jalen Brunson not flinching in these
[1:36:10] Speaker 8: type of times. He's not scared of the moment.
[1:36:12] Speaker 2: This city is tough to play in.
[1:36:14] Speaker 1: And it's a tough city.
[1:36:16] Speaker 8: So you're talking about coming up big in moments like
[1:36:18] Speaker 8: that 22-point different.
[1:36:20] Speaker 1: When you're down.
[1:36:22] Speaker 8: like go back and watch that run he made the
[1:36:25] Speaker 8: run by himself i'm gonna put y'all on my.
[1:36:28] Speaker 6: Back well james harden made it too of.
[1:36:30] Speaker 8: Course they was on you know they was dapping up
[1:36:32] Speaker 8: after after every play but jalen don't care who in
[1:36:35] Speaker 8: front of him at this point it's like i got
[1:36:37] Speaker 8: new york behind me he did and for the new
[1:36:39] Speaker 8: yorkers that believe in anybody if they was to believe
[1:36:42] Speaker 8: in anybody because there was a Julius Randle era. There
[1:36:46] Speaker 8: was a Carmelo Anthony era. An Amari Stoudemire era. There
[1:36:50] Speaker 8: are all these eras that came through that was like,
[1:36:53] Speaker 8: we believe. Finally, a guy under 6'2 got us there
[1:36:58] Speaker 8: to do the impossible. And like you said, it ain't
[1:37:00] Speaker 8: done yet, but just think about the New York fan
[1:37:03] Speaker 8: base right now. And we don't need it to be
[1:37:05] Speaker 8: done yet. We here. He already can't go nowhere.
[1:37:09] Speaker 1: We here.
[1:37:10] Speaker 3: Shout out Mike Brown, too.
[1:37:11] Speaker 1: Wait, didn't he get fired?
[1:37:14] Speaker 6: After the Hawks went up two games to one, I
[1:37:17] Speaker 6: thought he got fired.
[1:37:19] Speaker 2: Didn't they fire him?
[1:37:19] Speaker 1: He was about to get fired, wasn't he?
[1:37:22] Speaker 2: They were about to get that man fired.
[1:37:24] Speaker 1: They were saying McHale Bridges' worst trade in NBA history.
[1:37:27] Speaker 8: There was a lot going on. They don't want nobody
[1:37:32] Speaker 8: to just, oh, you wrong, you wrong. They got to
[1:37:34] Speaker 8: switch it up every time something switches up.
[1:37:37] Speaker 1: Panic. Sixth coach to take multiple teams in the NBA finals.
[1:37:40] Speaker 2: Wow.
[1:37:41] Speaker 1: Shout out to Jalen Brunson, man.
[1:37:43] Speaker 8: Make sure Anytime this next series, every game, Josh Hart
[1:37:49] Speaker 8: is on that side, you on this side, and we
[1:37:51] Speaker 8: ain't going to have no problems.
[1:37:53] Speaker 1: It's going to be smooth sailing for you.
[1:37:55] Speaker 8: Anytime you and your roommate get in the same room together,
[1:37:58] Speaker 8: some shit go wrong. Make sure he in the other room,
[1:38:02] Speaker 8: you in the other room, y'all going to be good.
[1:38:04] Speaker 1: I promise. New York 15, and then they hear you
[1:38:07] Speaker 1: to win 11 plus consecutive games in a single postseason.
[1:38:12] Speaker 1: Let's take a look at this graphic, if we don't mind.
[1:38:15] Speaker 1: During the 2017 Warriors, 2001 Lakers, 1999 Spurs, and the
[1:38:17] Speaker 1: 1989 Lakers, the last three of those teams each won
[1:38:18] Speaker 1: the chip. and the 1989 Lakers. The last three of
[1:38:24] Speaker 1: those teams, each won the chip. Where does this Knicks
[1:38:30] Speaker 1: playoff run rank all time, in your opinion, as we
[1:38:34] Speaker 1: look at what they're doing? Right where they at.
[1:38:38] Speaker 3: I would say right.
[1:38:44] Speaker 1: Where they at. Some great historical runs, obviously some of
[1:38:47] Speaker 1: the championships.
[1:38:48] Speaker 3: That 2001 Laker run was crazy. I mean, 2017 Warriors,
[1:38:51] Speaker 3: I mean.
[1:38:51] Speaker 2: Come on.
[1:38:53] Speaker 3: As far as the Bulls not on there, likewise. Right?
[1:39:00] Speaker 1: Hey.
[1:39:00] Speaker 3: I thought the Bulls would win.
[1:39:01] Speaker 2: They didn't win like that.
[1:39:02] Speaker 1: I do see the 2016 Cavs on there. See, they
[1:39:05] Speaker 1: didn't win like that.
[1:39:07] Speaker 2: Yeah. That's crazy. That's crazy. They didn't win like that.
[1:39:12] Speaker 1: Skip, you've been around a lot of basketball. I have.
[1:39:15] Speaker 6: Most of the time. Allow me to push Nick's button
[1:39:18] Speaker 6: over here for just a second.
[1:39:20] Speaker 2: There's a lot of them LeBron teams on there.
[1:39:25] Speaker 6: So here's what Jordan did in his first breakthrough.
[1:39:28] Speaker 2: That's who was on Chicago. That's why they ain't up there.
[1:39:32] Speaker 6: So this is 1991, and he had to go through
[1:39:35] Speaker 6: the beasts of the East, and they were beasts because—
[1:39:39] Speaker 6: They start out and they sweep Patrick Ewing's Knicks with
[1:39:43] Speaker 6: Starks and Oakley and Mark Jackson and Mo Cheeks. It
[1:39:46] Speaker 6: was impressive.
[1:39:47] Speaker 2: Mo Cheeks and John Starks, that was tough for him.
[1:39:50] Speaker 6: Okay. Well, Mo Cheeks was really good.
[1:39:52] Speaker 1: Patrick Ewing was tough. Hall of Fame, Patrick Ewing. Okay.
[1:39:55] Speaker 2: Them three was tough.
[1:39:56] Speaker 6: And Oakley was the ultimate badass that I was ever around.
[1:40:00] Speaker 1: He was a boxer.
[1:40:01] Speaker 2: He was a boxer. He was a real good boxer.
[1:40:05] Speaker 2: All right.
[1:40:05] Speaker 6: Then it's Barkley's Sixers and And they dispatched them in
[1:40:10] Speaker 6: five games. And then they go and.
[1:40:13] Speaker 1: Charles Barkley.
[1:40:14] Speaker 6: Okay, Charles Barkley.
[1:40:15] Speaker 2: Charles Barkley.
[1:40:16] Speaker 6: And then they go sweep their nemesis Pistons. And it's
[1:40:20] Speaker 6: the full stock Pistons.
[1:40:22] Speaker 2: It's their last year together, right?
[1:40:24] Speaker 6: Well, but it's still Rodman and Isaiah and Dumars and
[1:40:29] Speaker 6: Aguirre and... Vinny coming off the bench and Lambeer and Sally.
[1:40:35] Speaker 6: And it's the whole, it's the whole show. It's, it's
[1:40:37] Speaker 6: the bad boys and they sweep them and the bad
[1:40:40] Speaker 6: boys walk off and won't shake their hands.
[1:40:42] Speaker 2: Okay.
[1:40:43] Speaker 6: To get to magic's Lakers. And they weren't, It wasn't
[1:40:46] Speaker 6: Kareem anymore, but it was still Magic's Lakers to finish
[1:40:50] Speaker 6: it off.
[1:40:51] Speaker 1: Magic was doing some things.
[1:40:52] Speaker 2: Oh, that was the year he was doing some things?
[1:40:56] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[1:40:56] Speaker 1: Speculation.
[1:40:57] Speaker 6: But the point is just to get through the East,
[1:41:00] Speaker 6: it was a much more impressive run than this East.
[1:41:03] Speaker 2: No, that's the same type of team.
[1:41:06] Speaker 1: Oh, it ain't.
[1:41:07] Speaker 3: Come on, man.
[1:41:08] Speaker 8: Don't say that based on what you think of them
[1:41:10] Speaker 8: right now and not who they were back then, bro.
[1:41:13] Speaker 8: You're doing that shit that these niggas be doing on podcasts. Like,
[1:41:17] Speaker 8: because you hear their name. Because you hear their name.
[1:41:20] Speaker 8: You're like, who the fuck? Back then, if you was watching,
[1:41:23] Speaker 8: because you wasn't older than me watching, they had games, bro.
[1:41:28] Speaker 1: Niggas can play.
[1:41:29] Speaker 2: They can play. It's not even that.
[1:41:31] Speaker 7: All the Hall of Famers that he just named, Who
[1:41:34] Speaker 7: Mike had to go against.
[1:41:35] Speaker 2: They're not even– who are they going against, the Knicks?
[1:41:38] Speaker 2: The Hawks, right?
[1:41:38] Speaker 1: They beat the Hawks. Jalen Johnson's Hawks.
[1:41:40] Speaker 2: Right, who's over there? That's the same thing.
[1:41:42] Speaker 1: Okay.
[1:41:42] Speaker 2: That was that we'll consider a play-in team and got in.
[1:41:45] Speaker 1: Okay. Okay, it's not our fault.
[1:41:47] Speaker 2: Okay, and then you got the Sixers. Thank you. Yeah, yeah.
[1:41:49] Speaker 1: Good team. Beat Boston. Good team. Okay, 4-0.
[1:41:52] Speaker 2: And now– And now you just beat.
[1:41:54] Speaker 1: Piston? No. The two Hall of Famers, right? No, no, no.
[1:41:56] Speaker 3: I'm talking about the Knicks.
[1:41:58] Speaker 1: You're talking about the Knicks.
[1:41:59] Speaker 2: Okay. Two Hall of Famers.
[1:41:59] Speaker 1: They beat Cleveland. Okay. Two Hall of Famers. Two Hall
[1:42:02] Speaker 1: of Famers. First ballot. First ballot. Don't matter.
[1:42:04] Speaker 2: Okay. Okay.
[1:42:05] Speaker 1: Hall of Famers.
[1:42:06] Speaker 2: Hall of Famers.
[1:42:06] Speaker 1: Okay. Philly Hall of Famers. First ballot. Yes.
[1:42:08] Speaker 2: How many?
[1:42:09] Speaker 1: I would say potentially two. Two Hall of Famers. If
[1:42:12] Speaker 1: Tyrese keep going the way he going.
[1:42:14] Speaker 2: And then the Hawks?
[1:42:16] Speaker 1: Nobody.
[1:42:17] Speaker 3: Okay.
[1:42:18] Speaker 7: So Michael Jordan, first round. He said he went against
[1:42:20] Speaker 7: who first round? Mo Cheeks, Patrick Hewitt. Patrick Hewitt. And
[1:42:24] Speaker 7: John Starks. So Patrick Hewitt, Hall of Famer. Greg Anthony. Right.
[1:42:29] Speaker 2: Doc Rivers. Detroit. So it wasn't the Boston Celtics with
[1:42:34] Speaker 2: Larry Bird in them. He was hurt back then. It
[1:42:37] Speaker 2: wasn't the real. The Pistons all retired after it was
[1:42:40] Speaker 2: the old Pistons. Who was the second team you said?
[1:42:42] Speaker 2: The old Pistons.
[1:42:43] Speaker 6: Barkley's Sixers.
[1:42:45] Speaker 1: The Sixers. Who was on that team? It wasn't Dr.
[1:42:48] Speaker 2: J when Jordan couldn't win. It wasn't that team. Then
[1:42:52] Speaker 2: he played the Lakers when Magic retired because he had
[1:42:55] Speaker 2: the shit. No, what we'll call it. They still out there. No, no.
[1:42:58] Speaker 2: They still out there. Kareem, hook shot. Kareem played.
[1:43:02] Speaker 1: James Worthy played. Kareem was out there. Scott, Michael Cooper.
[1:43:05] Speaker 1: They all played. What are you talking about? Kareem was
[1:43:07] Speaker 1: out there.
[1:43:08] Speaker 6: Kareem wasn't.
[1:43:08] Speaker 1: Kareem wasn't there.
[1:43:10] Speaker 2: They're going through all that and still getting to the finals.
[1:43:13] Speaker 2: That's because everybody was done. Same type of thing. They're
[1:43:16] Speaker 2: supposed to sweep through them like the Knicks. It's the
[1:43:18] Speaker 2: same type of Knicks situation.
[1:43:22] Speaker 1: How?
[1:43:24] Speaker 2: John Starks' Patrick Ewing was the one or two for
[1:43:29] Speaker 2: the first round. Charles Barkley, who was the other person
[1:43:33] Speaker 2: on the team on Philly?
[1:43:35] Speaker 3: I don't even know how many. The Knicks probably not
[1:43:37] Speaker 3: even winning that many games.
[1:43:38] Speaker 2: They're not even.
[1:43:41] Speaker 1: Think about it.
[1:43:41] Speaker 6: It was mostly Barkley. Johnny Dawkins was the point guard.
[1:43:46] Speaker 6: They weren't great, but Barkley was a force. Isaiah The
[1:43:52] Speaker 6: Pistons are loaded.
[1:43:54] Speaker 2: They were deep.
[1:43:55] Speaker 3: Them alone is better than the team.
[1:43:57] Speaker 8: Dumars, Vinnie Johnson, Isaiah Thomas, John Sally, Dennis Rodman, Rick Mahorn,
[1:44:04] Speaker 8: Bill Lembeer.
[1:44:07] Speaker 6: Vinnie Johnson coming off the bench.
[1:44:09] Speaker 1: Shout out to the Markle. And they retired. Markley better
[1:44:11] Speaker 1: than anybody on that.
[1:44:12] Speaker 2: After that loss, what happened? They were done.
[1:44:15] Speaker 1: No, they wasn't. Isaiah ended up having a career-ending injury, bro.
[1:44:18] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[1:44:19] Speaker 1: That was the only reason that they didn't come back
[1:44:21] Speaker 1: and win.
[1:44:21] Speaker 2: After that, they were done. Detroit was done after that.
[1:44:25] Speaker 8: There was like an Asian Warriors team or something. Yeah,
[1:44:31] Speaker 8: it was like that. On the way out. What's the comparison, though?
[1:44:34] Speaker 8: What you comparing them to? They should be on there.
[1:44:36] Speaker 1: Huh?
[1:44:37] Speaker 2: They should be on there.
[1:44:38] Speaker 1: Where, though?
[1:44:38] Speaker 2: You think they should be like, are they ranked higher?
[1:44:41] Speaker 2: Bulls should be on a winning streak like this with
[1:44:44] Speaker 2: the teams they played in 91. They should be on
[1:44:46] Speaker 2: there at least once.
[1:44:48] Speaker 1: In 91, not 93. 91 of them.
[1:44:51] Speaker 2: I don't see the Bulls on there at all.
[1:44:52] Speaker 1: Bulls did go 15-2 during the playoff for Swaggy.
[1:44:58] Speaker 2: Oh, thank you. Thank you for that.
[1:45:01] Speaker 1: Time for the fifth highest winning. They won three in
[1:45:04] Speaker 1: a row, though. So they have to be.
[1:45:06] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Why I don't see them on there?
[1:45:10] Speaker 8: Three in a row. You won three championships. That shit
[1:45:12] Speaker 8: doesn't matter.
[1:45:12] Speaker 2: I know.
[1:45:13] Speaker 1: So how long?
[1:45:14] Speaker 2: All right, so how many did the Bulls win? They
[1:45:16] Speaker 2: had to be close.
[1:45:17] Speaker 1: They were 15-2 in that 91 season.
[1:45:20] Speaker 3: He's just hating on Jordan.
[1:45:26] Speaker 1: He's just hating on Jordan. That's it. He's just hating
[1:45:29] Speaker 1: on Jordan.
[1:45:29] Speaker 2: I ain't going front, though.
[1:45:30] Speaker 1: The 99 Spurs, though.
[1:45:31] Speaker 8: Yeah, they was getting it up, but it was a
[1:45:34] Speaker 8: short season that year.
[1:45:35] Speaker 2: It was. Hey, you still got to get it done, though.
[1:45:37] Speaker 1: 99 Spurs, also 15-2 in the postseason during their run. Uh-oh.
[1:45:45] Speaker 2: All right.
[1:45:48] Speaker 6: It's all right.
[1:45:51] Speaker 1: That was easy. Okay.
[1:45:52] Speaker 6: 15-2.
[1:45:52] Speaker 1: So back to this Knicks squad. Knicks have won.
[1:45:55] Speaker 2: Think different, right?
[1:45:56] Speaker 1: They now have three series clinching wins by a combined
[1:45:59] Speaker 1: 118 points this postseason, plus 271 point differential this postseason,
[1:46:06] Speaker 1: highest by any team in a single postseason before playing
[1:46:08] Speaker 1: in the NBA Finals. A lot of people out there,
[1:46:11] Speaker 1: like you said earlier, still think that the winner of
[1:46:13] Speaker 1: the Western Conference Finals is likely going to be the
[1:46:16] Speaker 1: next NBA champion. Let's start with our former Knicks, Mr. B.
[1:46:22] Speaker 1: Brandon Jennings. Do you agree with that sentiment, or do
[1:46:24] Speaker 1: you think the Knicks have a legitimate shot?
[1:46:27] Speaker 3: I mean, no, the Knicks definitely have a shot. I mean,
[1:46:29] Speaker 3: you're there.
[1:46:30] Speaker 7: So, I mean, you know, no game has started yet,
[1:46:33] Speaker 7: so we don't know. But I know taking off this
[1:46:35] Speaker 7: time is going to be a little tough for them.
[1:46:38] Speaker 7: They are going to be dealing with it. either the
[1:46:40] Speaker 7: Spurs or the OKC, a young, a young team that
[1:46:43] Speaker 7: has a lot of energy. I mean, if you're playing OKC,
[1:46:45] Speaker 7: I mean, they've been there before. Spurs feel like they
[1:46:48] Speaker 7: got a lot, a lot to prove. And, you know,
[1:46:51] Speaker 7: they went from not making the playoffs last year to
[1:46:54] Speaker 7: being in the Western Conference finals.
[1:46:55] Speaker 1: So I'll be a little worried about them.
[1:46:57] Speaker 7: It just depends, man. It just depends. But I do
[1:47:01] Speaker 7: think the Knicks do have a chance. I know the
[1:47:03] Speaker 7: world is going to be cheering for the Knicks. They
[1:47:05] Speaker 7: got the whole city of New York behind them. And,
[1:47:08] Speaker 7: I mean, going into it, it probably will be favorite,
[1:47:10] Speaker 7: the Knicks, but I don't know, man.
[1:47:11] Speaker 1: You think the Knicks will be the favorite heading into
[1:47:14] Speaker 1: this final?
[1:47:14] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it's the Knicks.
[1:47:15] Speaker 7: I mean, it's the 50 years, right, or so since
[1:47:18] Speaker 7: they won it.
[1:47:19] Speaker 1: 1973.
[1:47:20] Speaker 3: Just going in, you already know, like, they're going to
[1:47:22] Speaker 3: be favorites.
[1:47:24] Speaker 2: Goddamn.
[1:47:25] Speaker 1: 1973?
[1:47:25] Speaker 3: Yes. Well, they're going to burn that city.
[1:47:30] Speaker 2: That's dope, though, man.
[1:47:33] Speaker 3: But, yes, they have a chance, though.
[1:47:34] Speaker 1: I might have to take a trip, man.
[1:47:36] Speaker 2: I was thinking that. Let's just go down there.
[1:47:37] Speaker 1: That's some easy work. You have the plug on tickets, Mr. B,
[1:47:40] Speaker 1: because ticket prices right now.
[1:47:40] Speaker 2: We don't need a ticket. I'm going to just wear
[1:47:42] Speaker 2: my jersey and run around.
[1:47:43] Speaker 1: Just run around the city.
[1:47:44] Speaker 2: Just run around the garden.
[1:47:47] Speaker 1: With the underdog, Mike.
[1:47:48] Speaker 2: I'm media.
[1:47:50] Speaker 1: Media credential.
[1:47:51] Speaker 2: Let me in.
[1:47:54] Speaker 1: NBA, usually a little. Disappointing when it comes to giving
[1:47:58] Speaker 1: us credentials to events.
[1:47:59] Speaker 2: I'm going to be like, it's me.
[1:48:00] Speaker 1: But we pull up anyway. This is me.
[1:48:02] Speaker 2: This is me.
[1:48:03] Speaker 1: I'll play here. Mr. Beamini, Skip, do you think the
[1:48:07] Speaker 1: Knicks should be the favorites at the end of the
[1:48:09] Speaker 1: NBA Finals?
[1:48:10] Speaker 6: I do not. Just for the record, not sure how
[1:48:15] Speaker 6: this is. Maybe the odds makers know something I don't
[1:48:18] Speaker 6: about Jalen Williams.
[1:48:20] Speaker 2: And A.J.
[1:48:20] Speaker 6: Mitchell. But as we speak, in a potential game one
[1:48:24] Speaker 6: with the Thunder, which would obviously be in Oklahoma City,
[1:48:27] Speaker 6: the Thunder would be six and a half point favorites
[1:48:30] Speaker 6: in game one. The Spurs, if it were in San Antonio,
[1:48:34] Speaker 6: game one, would be four and a half point favorites
[1:48:37] Speaker 6: over the Knicks. Hmm. Look, the Knicks are going to
[1:48:42] Speaker 6: have to take, what is it, nine days, eight days?
[1:48:44] Speaker 1: Well, they had nine days in between the second round
[1:48:47] Speaker 1: to start Eastern Conference Finals. We're a little rusty in
[1:48:48] Speaker 1: that game, went down 22.
[1:48:50] Speaker 6: They did.
[1:48:50] Speaker 1: Still won the game, swept the series.
[1:48:52] Speaker 6: They did. But isn't this break about, it's the next Wednesday, right?
[1:48:56] Speaker 6: So we're Tuesday now, and the finals would start on Wednesday,
[1:48:59] Speaker 6: I'm pretty sure. So it's nine-ish days off to go
[1:49:05] Speaker 6: from playing what will feel like a high school defense
[1:49:09] Speaker 6: with the Cavs to a big-time NBA defense with Spurs
[1:49:14] Speaker 6: or Thunder. And it's going to be a rude awakening
[1:49:18] Speaker 6: for the Knicks to me. But I do not discount momentum.
[1:49:23] Speaker 6: I'm just not sure any team has ever had more
[1:49:26] Speaker 6: momentum into a finals than this Knicks team, regardless of
[1:49:30] Speaker 6: the competition. Just on fire, buzzsaw. We are we. We're
[1:49:37] Speaker 6: it right now. And they're going to bring that kind
[1:49:40] Speaker 6: of energy and supreme confidence, clicking on all cylinders confidence
[1:49:47] Speaker 6: like we've never seen into this. But it's... when you
[1:49:53] Speaker 6: asked me who's going to win Cavs-Knicks, and I said, well,
[1:49:55] Speaker 6: it's easy to me because you've got the worst defensive
[1:49:58] Speaker 6: team in the Eastern Conference playoffs against the best offensive
[1:50:01] Speaker 6: team that is now playing the best defense. And we
[1:50:07] Speaker 6: haven't even really talked that much about the Knicks defense,
[1:50:09] Speaker 6: but it's really good. It is really solidly good, and
[1:50:14] Speaker 6: the shock to me is, I kept hearing what a
[1:50:17] Speaker 6: mastermind Tibbs was on defense, and Mike Brown's defense is
[1:50:22] Speaker 6: playing at a much higher level than I ever saw Tibbs'
[1:50:25] Speaker 6: defense play. Maybe it's just the players, but somehow they
[1:50:31] Speaker 6: bought into what Mike Brown is selling, and he was
[1:50:35] Speaker 6: the Golden State defensive coordinator, so I think he really
[1:50:38] Speaker 6: knows defense.
[1:50:40] Speaker 2: I think he's a.
[1:50:40] Speaker 6: Really good basketball coach who's never quite gotten the credit,
[1:50:43] Speaker 6: and as you said, what is it now, six total
[1:50:47] Speaker 6: have gotten to two finals. So, again, it's a big
[1:50:54] Speaker 6: step up in class to either Spurs or Thunder. And
[1:50:59] Speaker 6: I think they should be favored, but not by a lot.
[1:51:03] Speaker 6: And whatever that 6.5 and 4.5 would be in Game 1,
[1:51:07] Speaker 6: as we get closer to it, the public is going
[1:51:09] Speaker 6: to bet those numbers way down. So, as it stands
[1:51:15] Speaker 6: right now, you know, again, maybe.
[1:51:19] Speaker 6: If miracles happen and Jalen Williams and A.J. come back
[1:51:22] Speaker 6: and somehow the Spurs, I mean the Thunder survive the
[1:51:25] Speaker 6: Spurs and get to a game one against the Knicks,
[1:51:29] Speaker 6: then I definitely think they would be a little better.
[1:51:31] Speaker 6: But not at this moment.
[1:51:39] Speaker 8: Well, I mean, as far as favorites, you would have to,
[1:51:47] Speaker 8: give the nod to the vets and the experience from
[1:51:51] Speaker 8: the basketball gods of understanding how to play the game
[1:51:54] Speaker 8: in tight situations. Like Wimby said, they hadn't been in
[1:51:57] Speaker 8: that situation before being down 2-1 in the playoffs and
[1:52:02] Speaker 8: knowing what to do and how to adjust as players
[1:52:05] Speaker 8: without Popovich coming in and telling them how to adjust
[1:52:08] Speaker 8: to these moments and then having Tim Duncan and.
[1:52:11] Speaker 1: Those other guys come in and corroborate that.
[1:52:14] Speaker 8: You don't have that game for a win And I
[1:52:18] Speaker 8: think with the actual New York Knicks, they don't need that.
[1:52:22] Speaker 8: They all look each other in the mirror or look
[1:52:24] Speaker 8: themselves in the mirror. And Mike Brown also holds them accountable.
[1:52:28] Speaker 8: But they have a city that's depending on them. They
[1:52:32] Speaker 8: have each other that's depending on each other. So when
[1:52:35] Speaker 8: you look at who could be a favorite based on
[1:52:38] Speaker 8: whether it's OKC or the Spurs, it's got to be
[1:52:41] Speaker 8: the Knicks simply because OKC is going to be without them.
[1:52:45] Speaker 8: the things that they need to actually make it a
[1:52:48] Speaker 8: series because this is not the Indiana Pacers. It's a
[1:52:50] Speaker 8: totally different team. The Pacers don't beat the Knicks if
[1:52:53] Speaker 8: those certain qualities don't disappear from the situation as far
[1:52:58] Speaker 8: as OG hamstring. But you can never, like I said before,
[1:53:01] Speaker 8: you can't make the excuse on injury because it's always
[1:53:04] Speaker 8: next man up. And New York didn't get it done.
[1:53:07] Speaker 8: So Indiana stepped up. They didn't get it done either.
[1:53:10] Speaker 8: So OKC rises to the occasion. But now we're looking
[1:53:13] Speaker 8: at OKC having that same problem going into this final saying,
[1:53:18] Speaker 8: all right, we are without our main guy just like
[1:53:20] Speaker 8: they were. We might go down to a team that
[1:53:23] Speaker 8: we feel like we're better than full strength. And now
[1:53:26] Speaker 8: the Spurs advance. So now the Spurs advance. You're looking
[1:53:31] Speaker 8: at experience versus just pure adrenaline. Pure raw talent potential
[1:53:38] Speaker 8: versus the veteran leadership and the morale of championship coach
[1:53:43] Speaker 8: in a city that's just dying for some type of
[1:53:46] Speaker 8: energy and you gotta be a favorite when it comes
[1:53:49] Speaker 8: to that but it doesn't mean you're gonna win i
[1:53:51] Speaker 8: think it's gonna be a great series and for everybody
[1:53:54] Speaker 8: out there it's great basketball being played this is great
[1:53:58] Speaker 8: basketball being played even that sweet it was great basketball
[1:54:02] Speaker 8: by the team that swept the other team well did
[1:54:05] Speaker 8: What was shown was I'm going to punch you in
[1:54:07] Speaker 8: the face. No, it was I'm going to punch you
[1:54:09] Speaker 8: in the face and I'm.
[1:54:11] Speaker 2: Going to show you how to make them quit.
[1:54:14] Speaker 8: I'm going to show you how to make them fold.
[1:54:16] Speaker 8: And the storyline stopped. James Harden, he didn't get to
[1:54:21] Speaker 8: propel his storyline. Donovan Mitchell didn't get to propel his storyline.
[1:54:25] Speaker 8: Jalen Brunson gets to knock him out. So now you're
[1:54:28] Speaker 8: talking about the next series. It's going to be competitive regardless.
[1:54:32] Speaker 8: We're not going to be worried about whether you're competing
[1:54:34] Speaker 8: or not. Neither one of these teams, OKC or Spurs,
[1:54:37] Speaker 8: is going to give up.
[1:54:39] Speaker 2: If they play the Spurs, I think they're the favorites.
[1:54:41] Speaker 1: Who? The Knicks.
[1:54:44] Speaker 2: If they play OKC, I feel like OKC would be
[1:54:46] Speaker 2: the favorites.
[1:54:47] Speaker 7: So it won't be the same thing that happened in 1999.
[1:54:53] Speaker 2: That's what they want. So that's why Spurs get away
[1:54:57] Speaker 2: with anything. The NBA wants that to happen so bad.
[1:55:00] Speaker 1: Which is why you're not going to say anything good
[1:55:03] Speaker 1: about the Spurs.
[1:55:04] Speaker 2: Because it's obvious. Like you say all the time, is
[1:55:07] Speaker 2: it obvious?
[1:55:07] Speaker 1: You're making it obvious.
[1:55:09] Speaker 2: You're clearly making it obvious. Running to somebody's back, just
[1:55:11] Speaker 2: steal it and dunk it. It's crazy.
[1:55:15] Speaker 1: Not to take a trip back down memory lane, but
[1:55:16] Speaker 1: one more thing we have to address here. So after
[1:55:18] Speaker 1: the Knicks won the NBA Cup Championship, unfortunate incident captured
[1:55:22] Speaker 1: during their celebration. Let's run it just as a reminder
[1:55:27] Speaker 1: of times from yesteryear. You see Jalen Brunson celebrating and
[1:55:31] Speaker 1: Josh Hart.
[1:55:33] Speaker 2: Look at the look.
[1:55:34] Speaker 1: Bro.
[1:55:34] Speaker 2: Why are you flinching?
[1:55:36] Speaker 1: Because, bro. He was like, bro, quit playing, bro. He said.
[1:55:40] Speaker 1: The thumb up the tune. Imagine him not flinching.
[1:55:42] Speaker 2: What do you mean? Don't talk about Josh Hart.
[1:55:46] Speaker 1: Thumb up the tune. Oh, I wasn't supposed to do
[1:55:47] Speaker 1: that right now?
[1:55:47] Speaker 2: You all right?
[1:55:49] Speaker 1: My bad. You see, I said. Oh, shit. You caught me.
[1:55:53] Speaker 1: The reaction was swift and caused some, including our very
[1:55:56] Speaker 1: own Cemetery Larry, to jump off The Knicks bandwagon. Brunson
[1:56:01] Speaker 1: wasn't about to let it happen again while getting his
[1:56:03] Speaker 1: Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophy. Let's take a look at
[1:56:07] Speaker 1: that moment.
[1:56:07] Speaker 2: Jalen, come on over for me.
[1:56:11] Speaker 1: No, no, no.
[1:56:12] Speaker 2: No thumbs in the tutti.
[1:56:13] Speaker 1: Jalen, the last time the Knicks went.
[1:56:15] Speaker 6: To the NBA Finals, you weren't even three years old.
[1:56:18] Speaker 1: To avoid another thumb up the tutti situation. Sean, seeing
[1:56:23] Speaker 1: Jalen Brunson preemptive strike moved Josh Hart out the way.
[1:56:26] Speaker 1: Has that changed your opinion of these Knicks? Perhaps brought
[1:56:28] Speaker 1: you back onto that. Okay.
[1:56:30] Speaker 8: They didn't have any Knicks jerseys prepared for me yet,
[1:56:33] Speaker 8: so I had to wear my Spurs. But it just
[1:56:35] Speaker 8: let me know Jalen Brunson wasn't really, he didn't have
[1:56:38] Speaker 8: nothing to do with the first encounter.
[1:56:40] Speaker 1: He was not a willing participant.
[1:56:43] Speaker 2: Hey, hey, hey, you know what? You move. You move.
[1:56:45] Speaker 1: You move. I'm not having that.
[1:56:48] Speaker 8: You know, my wife, my girl, my wife, I don't
[1:56:50] Speaker 8: know if he married or not, but shit, that caused
[1:56:53] Speaker 8: a divorce for real. I'm looking at you different. So, yeah,
[1:56:56] Speaker 8: watch out. And it brings all the other fans back
[1:56:59] Speaker 8: around too. We don't like the weird shit. Weird shit
[1:57:02] Speaker 8: is weird. We don't like the weird shit.
[1:57:05] Speaker 6: So what was your take on the first incident?
[1:57:08] Speaker 1: It's just weird. I was glad we won.
[1:57:13] Speaker 8: But once that happened, I'm going to stick with the
[1:57:16] Speaker 8: Spurs until we get down the line and figure it out.
[1:57:19] Speaker 1: There's just too much shit going on. Skip, how did
[1:57:21] Speaker 1: you feel about that? Again, been around a lot of basketball.
[1:57:24] Speaker 1: Not sure how many times you've seen a teammate try
[1:57:26] Speaker 1: to thumb Another one of theirs.
[1:57:28] Speaker 8: I don't know how many times I've seen that.
[1:57:34] Speaker 1: Oh, no.
[1:57:35] Speaker 6: I've never seen that.
[1:57:39] Speaker 1: That was my hope.
[1:57:40] Speaker 6: Yes. And yet I did. I actually loved it that
[1:57:47] Speaker 6: they made a big deal to just blow it up
[1:57:52] Speaker 6: and out, you know, where you just say, I'm out
[1:57:55] Speaker 6: of here. And Josh Hart walked all the way across camera,
[1:57:59] Speaker 6: you know, through the shot. I'm out of here. And
[1:58:04] Speaker 6: Jalen had moved him over. And so I think it's cool, right?
[1:58:10] Speaker 6: I mean, you trust the Knicks now internally?
[1:58:15] Speaker 1: I don't trust Josh Hart. Okay. I don't trust Josh Hart,
[1:58:18] Speaker 1: but I trust the Knicks.
[1:58:19] Speaker 2: But you can't do it two times in a row.
[1:58:21] Speaker 2: Who can't do it two times in a row? You
[1:58:23] Speaker 2: can't do that two times in a row.
[1:58:24] Speaker 1: She is. Something wrong with his thumb right now. He's
[1:58:28] Speaker 1: been doing it.
[1:58:28] Speaker 2: He's just all hurt and shit.
[1:58:30] Speaker 3: Shit, the season was going to go downhill after that.
[1:58:31] Speaker 2: Remember, Cat was like, I don't even know my roll now.
[1:58:34] Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
[1:58:35] Speaker 7: Hold on.
[1:58:36] Speaker 2: Mike Brown was like, hold up.
[1:58:37] Speaker 1: I got a roll for you. Hold on. I got
[1:58:39] Speaker 1: a roll for you.
[1:58:39] Speaker 2: Hold on. Put you in this Draymond. Dish and dash.
[1:58:42] Speaker 2: They back in order. The thumb is for Cat. Cat said, whoa,
[1:58:47] Speaker 2: we doing rolls like that, huh?
[1:58:48] Speaker 1: Mm-mm.
[1:58:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Cat's thumb.
[1:58:50] Speaker 1: I don't know mine.
[1:58:51] Speaker 6: Mm-mm.
[1:58:51] Speaker 3: Shout out to Cat, though, man.
[1:58:53] Speaker 2: That's catson, man.
[1:58:54] Speaker 1: Be out here thumbing around, man. Nigs, back in the
[1:58:56] Speaker 1: NBA Finals, we'll have another extended break as they wait
[1:58:59] Speaker 1: for the winner of the Thunder Spurs playoff series. So
[1:59:02] Speaker 1: speaking of that, let's wrap up today with our playoff
[1:59:05] Speaker 1: picks powered by Underdog Expedition Markets. Let's take a look
[1:59:08] Speaker 1: at the updated standings. Swaggin, you were in China.
[1:59:11] Speaker 2: Wow.
[1:59:13] Speaker 1: Why you wowing?
[1:59:14] Speaker 2: Because I was sending my picks in.
[1:59:16] Speaker 1: You don't never win. You don't never win. The People's
[1:59:21] Speaker 1: Republic denied your Wi-Fi and your attempts to reach the main...
[1:59:24] Speaker 1: You got to use the VPN when you're over there, bro. VPN.
[1:59:28] Speaker 2: Six and six.
[1:59:29] Speaker 1: Six and six. Still in first place. Wow. Put all
[1:59:33] Speaker 1: your picks in? Yeah, well, I got OKC tonight, so
[1:59:41] Speaker 1: I know. So let me get to that, Mr. B.
[1:59:42] Speaker 1: Critical game five tonight in the West. Banged up Thunder Squad,
[1:59:45] Speaker 1: returned home with a series tie 2-2. OKC still the
[1:59:48] Speaker 1: favorites at home tonight with a 60% chance to win, 40%
[1:59:51] Speaker 1: chance to win for the Spurs. So let's start with you, Dr. McKintz.
[1:59:57] Speaker 1: That was easy. Spurs, I'm imagining? Of course. All right, Mr. B.,
[2:00:00] Speaker 1: you say. OKC, man.
[2:00:02] Speaker 2: Back at home. Brandon should be number one, though.
[2:00:04] Speaker 1: How? No, my loss is.
[2:00:06] Speaker 2: Well, he got more bets.
[2:00:08] Speaker 1: In, though. He got more bets in?
[2:00:10] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[2:00:11] Speaker 2: Y'all both got 41 wins. He sent more bets in.
[2:00:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure.
[2:00:15] Speaker 2: So he got more chances to lose. If you're going
[2:00:19] Speaker 2: by wins and losses, I should be one of them.
[2:00:22] Speaker 2: I got the less losses than everybody.
[2:00:25] Speaker 1: He got the more bets in.
[2:00:27] Speaker 2: He did. You know when not to bet and when
[2:00:31] Speaker 2: you want to bet.
[2:00:32] Speaker 1: I bet every time.
[2:00:33] Speaker 2: Why are you 41 and 28?
[2:00:33] Speaker 1: He's 41 and 37. Because I don't lose.
[2:00:39] Speaker 2: You're picking and choosing.
[2:00:40] Speaker 1: I don't lose.
[2:00:41] Speaker 2: You're picking and choosing. That's crazy.
[2:00:42] Speaker 1: I don't be losing. I be winning.
[2:00:43] Speaker 2: That's crazy.
[2:00:44] Speaker 1: I be winning. Speaking of picking and choosing.
[2:00:47] Speaker 2: I see Brandon Betts in every time. Every day. And
[2:00:50] Speaker 2: y'all LA niggas pick together.
[2:00:52] Speaker 1: I expect it. Every day.
[2:00:53] Speaker 2: That's crazy.
[2:00:54] Speaker 1: Cap right there. You ever watch the wood? I'm from
[2:00:56] Speaker 1: North Carolina.
[2:00:57] Speaker 2: I'm from North Carolina.
[2:00:58] Speaker 1: I'm from North Carolina. Go grab a booty.
[2:01:01] Speaker 2: You LA niggas try to put me on a mission
[2:01:05] Speaker 2: and it fail. It backfire. The girl is mine now.
[2:01:09] Speaker 1: The girl y'all wanted is not mine now.
[2:01:12] Speaker 2: North Carolina. I got it.
[2:01:14] Speaker 8: I'm going to beat your brother up too.
[2:01:17] Speaker 1: I'm going to beat your brother up too.
[2:01:19] Speaker 2: Remember when I was telling you about Bloods and Crips?
[2:01:21] Speaker 2: That nigga's a....
[2:01:23] Speaker 1: I'm from North Carolina, man.
[2:01:25] Speaker 8: I'm supposed to be out here thugging with y'all.
[2:01:28] Speaker 1: Anyway, y'all ain't supposed to. He said, I think she pretty.
[2:01:31] Speaker 1: I think she pretty.
[2:01:33] Speaker 2: Man, he's sick as hell. Now, where you from?
[2:01:37] Speaker 1: Let's shift over to this side. Skip, who you taking
[2:01:39] Speaker 1: to game five tonight?
[2:01:41] Speaker 6: The doctor just picked the Thunder to win game six
[2:01:44] Speaker 6: in San Antonio. Just for the record, he just did that.
[2:01:48] Speaker 2: I said Spurs.
[2:01:49] Speaker 6: Because he's got Spurs in seven. So he picked Spurs tonight.
[2:01:54] Speaker 6: So now the Thunder, to make you correct, they're going
[2:01:57] Speaker 6: to have to win game six on Thursday night in
[2:02:01] Speaker 6: San Antonio, correct? I just wanted that on the record.
[2:02:03] Speaker 1: It's definitely on the record.
[2:02:05] Speaker 8: But understand what the record also states. If we win
[2:02:09] Speaker 8: tonight and we win six, we go to the finals.
[2:02:15] Speaker 1: So I may lose my seven.
[2:02:18] Speaker 8: Game seven, but I still win going to the finals.
[2:02:22] Speaker 8: You got to double down on.
[2:02:24] Speaker 1: The ball area.
[2:02:25] Speaker 8: No, no, it's either no. It's either you're going to
[2:02:27] Speaker 8: get it done in six or seven. The two teams
[2:02:29] Speaker 8: are going to be in the finals. I predict it.
[2:02:31] Speaker 8: We're going to be San Antonio and the Knicks. So regardless,
[2:02:34] Speaker 8: if they win tonight, tomorrow, I'm too smart. The smartest
[2:02:38] Speaker 8: man in the world often feels dumb because no one
[2:02:41] Speaker 8: relates to him.
[2:02:42] Speaker 2: So I don't expect you to understand the math.
[2:02:44] Speaker 6: You should have taken Spurs in six.
[2:02:47] Speaker 8: I want to take it to seven because I want
[2:02:49] Speaker 8: you to have a chance. I want to give you
[2:02:51] Speaker 8: a chance, Skip.
[2:02:52] Speaker 6: Okay, so in tonight's Pivotal Game 5, I am picking
[2:02:56] Speaker 6: strictly with my heart, and I'm picking the thunder. Not
[2:02:59] Speaker 6: my head, my heart. I'm picking the thunder.
[2:03:02] Speaker 2: I'm going OKC today, and if I don't get my
[2:03:06] Speaker 2: bet in on Thursday, I'm going OKC Thursday. Listen, OKC today.
[2:03:12] Speaker 2: And if I don't get my bet in, I'm going
