[1:11] Speaker 1: And we got another special guest making his first appearance
[1:14] Speaker 1: in the arena as a member of our cast. NCAA
[1:18] Speaker 1: champion of the world out of North Carolina.
[1:21] Speaker 2: Three-time NBA champion of the world. I think one of
[1:23] Speaker 2: four players to win championships with three different teams. which
[1:26] Speaker 2: he did with the Spurs, Raptors, and Lakers. And when
[1:28] Speaker 2: he's not here, you can check out his Inside the
[1:30] Speaker 2: Green Room podcast.
[1:32] Speaker 1: Danny Green, welcome to Gil's Arena, presented by Polymarket and
[1:36] Speaker 1: powered by Playmaker.
[1:36] Speaker 3: Woo-woo! Woo-woo!
[1:37] Speaker 5: Appreciate you having me, man. Yeah, feeling like royalty up here.
[1:43] Speaker 3: What's up?
[1:43] Speaker 5: Appreciate you having me.
[1:44] Speaker 3: Hey, man, what?
[1:47] Speaker 1: This is like some sick-ass joke, man. Everybody now is
[1:51] Speaker 1: just champions, huh? Is everybody just champions now?
[1:56] Speaker 3: People's champ, bro.
[1:57] Speaker 5: What you mean?
[1:58] Speaker 3: That's crazy. We had to send a subliminal message. You
[2:00] Speaker 3: get a lot of this was done outside of your knowledge.
[2:02] Speaker 5: We had to bring more champions. 2K champ coming?
[2:05] Speaker 2: The people said they wanted champ. Nah, I'm not even
[2:06] Speaker 2: close to that, man. I ain't gonna lie to you.
[2:08] Speaker 2: Big three champion now.
[2:10] Speaker 3: Hey, but look. Hey, look. We listen, listen. No offense.
[2:13] Speaker 3: No offense. Right?
[2:14] Speaker 5: None taken, man.
[2:16] Speaker 3: Listen, there's an attack on us right now, man. Right, right. Right?
[2:19] Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Dinosaur. I'm kind of over there,
[2:22] Speaker 3: and I'm kind of over here. No, no.
[2:24] Speaker 1: We had to backpack some of these niggas, man.
[2:27] Speaker 3: We had to backpack a few of them.
[2:30] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? They're trying to diminish what
[2:33] Speaker 1: we was doing. I got to remember, I played with
[2:36] Speaker 1: Brennan Haywood and Nick. I had to go to sleep
[2:39] Speaker 1: early when we went to Miami. I had to go
[2:42] Speaker 1: against D-Wade and them. I mean, Brendan with us because
[2:44] Speaker 1: they had to go against Shaq.
[2:45] Speaker 3: But we had to do this.
[2:47] Speaker 1: And they walking around like the shit we done wasn't
[2:50] Speaker 1: good enough.
[2:50] Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, that's crazy. I ain't nervous. Like,
[2:53] Speaker 3: I had to look back. That's Nick.
[2:55] Speaker 5: You got to talk to Nick about that.
[2:56] Speaker 3: That's crazy.
[2:56] Speaker 1: I had to look back and listen to what they
[2:57] Speaker 1: were saying. Like, wait a minute. I couldn't even drink
[3:01] Speaker 1: during the season.
[3:03] Speaker 3: Right.
[3:03] Speaker 1: Y'all out partying every night, going and having fun. I
[3:07] Speaker 1: got to go out there and score 30. But then
[3:10] Speaker 1: 20 years later, they say.
[3:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, you didn't do enough. Right. Like, what? Boogie technically
[3:15] Speaker 3: has a ring, sir.
[3:16] Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying. But that's why I said
[3:17] Speaker 1: Boogie got to defend. He got to defend. He got
[3:20] Speaker 1: to defend the leader on the team, and they played
[3:25] Speaker 1: on it.
[3:26] Speaker 3: Right.
[3:27] Speaker 5: I mean, Nick could have been one of those guys.
[3:28] Speaker 5: He argues with you he sacrificed to get one, right?
[3:31] Speaker 4: Or no?
[3:32] Speaker 3: Who? Nick. He sacrificed.
[3:33] Speaker 5: Yeah, like you told him you should have went, you
[3:35] Speaker 5: should have went another route, right? You should have got
[3:37] Speaker 5: the bag and still kept being the guy.
[3:38] Speaker 3: No, no, no.
[3:39] Speaker 5: He went to Golden State.
[3:40] Speaker 1: So I told him that, so he said he had
[3:43] Speaker 1: Timberwolves or Golden State to choose from.
[3:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, New Orleans as well. Basically, he didn't mention New Orleans.
[3:49] Speaker 1: So I said, so I told him, I said, all right,
[3:54] Speaker 1: if you go to Golden State, you have nothing but shooters.
[4:00] Speaker 6: Right.
[4:00] Speaker 3: You're going to get wide open shots.
[4:01] Speaker 1: Right. This is just quick, fast shooting. And then for
[4:04] Speaker 1: the most part, they set all the three. They sit
[4:07] Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. So that's 12 good minutes for you.
[4:09] Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, that's 12 good minutes.
[4:12] Speaker 1: I say you go there, you get a ring, you
[4:16] Speaker 1: get some time and then you sign a bigger contract.
[4:20] Speaker 1: So he did one out of the three. He got
[4:24] Speaker 1: a ring. He didn't get no time. He didn't sign
[4:26] Speaker 1: no contract.
[4:27] Speaker 3: That was it.
[4:28] Speaker 5: I thought you told him to go where he was
[4:29] Speaker 5: going to be featured, not featured more, but be more
[4:32] Speaker 5: of an impactful role, a different role to what he
[4:36] Speaker 5: was kind of doing already.
[4:39] Speaker 1: You know, at that point, man, it was over for him.
[4:42] Speaker 3: It was over, man. He didn't tap into his ability.
[4:47] Speaker 2: We will have Swaggy on the show later in the
[4:49] Speaker 2: week to defend himself from Gil's accusation. But we got
[4:53] Speaker 2: a lot to get into. Here's what's cracking in the
[4:55] Speaker 2: arena today. Steph Curry says he wants to be a
[4:59] Speaker 2: warrior for life, but only if the team can stay competitive.
[5:03] Speaker 2: Will the dubs do right by Steph?
[5:04] Speaker 3: Ooh.
[5:05] Speaker 2: The Thompson twins are the first brothers to each get
[5:08] Speaker 2: a $ 100 million NBA contract. We discuss what they need
[5:13] Speaker 2: to work on moving forward, but we got to give
[5:14] Speaker 2: them some love because they're getting a big back. Shout
[5:16] Speaker 2: out to Thompson twins. Getting that bread. Some smoke for them.
[5:20] Speaker 3: Somebody got to go back here and fix this. We
[5:23] Speaker 3: got new smoke. It ain't smoking. It ain't smoking the
[5:26] Speaker 3: way it's supposed to smoke.
[5:27] Speaker 2: And speaking of potential smoke, Jason Tatum spoke on the
[5:31] Speaker 2: misconception about him and Jalen Brown's relationship.
[5:34] Speaker 3: But what?
[5:35] Speaker 2: Can the Sixers expect from Jalen Brown this season? But
[5:38] Speaker 2: before we get into all that, we got to talk
[5:40] Speaker 2: about something, ladies and gentlemen. Did you know these sportsbooks
[5:43] Speaker 2: is out here doing you dirty? The cash-out games, the
[5:46] Speaker 2: shady eyes, them deciding when you can touch your own money?
[5:49] Speaker 3: Nah, it's time for something different.
[5:51] Speaker 2: If you're tired of getting ganked, then delete your sportsbook
[5:54] Speaker 2: app right now and have no fear because Polymarket is here.
[5:58] Speaker 2: Gil's Arena is presented by Polymarket. Polymarket is legal in
[6:03] Speaker 2: all 50 states, and you can make trades on damn
[6:05] Speaker 2: near anything. With Polymarket, you're trading against other users, not
[6:09] Speaker 2: betting against a house built to beat the brakes off you.
[6:12] Speaker 2: The Rams and Bills are the current favorites to win
[6:14] Speaker 2: the chip this season. I'm still rolling with the Rams,
[6:16] Speaker 2: but the need to see what they look like without
[6:18] Speaker 2: Myles Garrett against the Giants tonight to be sure. Bills
[6:21] Speaker 2: are doing their thing. Shout out Josh Allen, MVP frontrunner.
[6:25] Speaker 2: With Polymarket, if things ain't going your way, you can
[6:27] Speaker 2: cash out whenever you want. That's why Polymarket is the
[6:29] Speaker 2: largest prediction market in the world. In the world, correct.
[6:33] Speaker 2: So download the Polymarket app and use code ARENA to
[6:36] Speaker 2: get $ 50 in bonus funds when you deposit just $ 10.
[6:39] Speaker 2: Make your next move your best move and join the revolution. Polymarket,
[6:43] Speaker 2: no limits, no house. Instant cash outs, the most accurate
[6:45] Speaker 2: sports odds and forecasts.
[6:47] Speaker 3: In the world.
[6:49] Speaker 2: And Gil's Arena is everywhere you want to be, so
[6:52] Speaker 2: shout out to everybody watching the show on Twitch. If
[6:55] Speaker 2: you're watching on Twitch, make sure you follow our channel
[6:57] Speaker 2: at Gil's Arena Show and appreciate y'all for all the subs.
[7:01] Speaker 3: All right, let's get into it. Gil, you're an unk.
[7:03] Speaker 2: We're going to start the show talking about another unk.
[7:06] Speaker 2: Starting the West, the Bay more specifically. So since winning
[7:08] Speaker 2: the chip in 2022 and cementing their dynasty, Warriors have
[7:11] Speaker 2: gotten bounced from the second round twice and missed the
[7:14] Speaker 2: playoffs twice, including last season when they finished ninth in
[7:17] Speaker 2: the West with a record of 37 and 45. So
[7:20] Speaker 2: Golden State entered last season as one of the oldest
[7:22] Speaker 2: teams in the league. dealt with injuries to both of
[7:25] Speaker 2: their top options, lost Jimmy Butler in January with a
[7:28] Speaker 2: season-ending ACL injury. Steph limited to 43 games, missing 27
[7:32] Speaker 2: straight late in the season with a runner's knee, and
[7:34] Speaker 2: they lost Moses Moody in March with a ruptured patella
[7:37] Speaker 2: tendon in his left knee as well. So Warriors were
[7:39] Speaker 2: expected to make a major move this offseason, but struck
[7:42] Speaker 2: out on Giannis, AD, Jalen Brown, and even LeBron, opting
[7:46] Speaker 2: to keep most of their core from last season while
[7:48] Speaker 2: drafting Michigan forward Yaxel Lindenberg with the 11th pick and
[7:51] Speaker 2: signing Georges Niang. and Brandon Williams from the Mavs. And
[7:55] Speaker 2: after some uncertainty, also decided to keep Steve Kerr as
[7:58] Speaker 2: head coach with a two-year extension. So during an interview
[8:01] Speaker 2: with CNBC recently, Steph was asked about his future with
[8:04] Speaker 2: the team, and he had this response.
[8:07] Speaker 6: You have one more year with the Warriors, and then
[8:09] Speaker 6: your contract ends, and you have a chance to become
[8:12] Speaker 6: a free agent. We just saw your buddy LeBron James
[8:15] Speaker 6: go through this process. Is that appealing to you at all?
[8:19] Speaker 3: Not at all.
[8:20] Speaker 7: I've always stated that I want to be a lifer
[8:23] Speaker 7: with Golden State, what we've built there. The fact that
[8:26] Speaker 7: I get to run it back this year with Draymond
[8:27] Speaker 7: and Coach Kerr, so.
[8:30] Speaker 7: All the contract stuff, this NBA thing from year to
[8:33] Speaker 7: year is so crazy. Things change really fast, but I
[8:35] Speaker 7: do know my interest and mission to stay and go
[8:38] Speaker 7: and stay to be competitive is there, and the contract
[8:41] Speaker 7: stuff will take.
[8:42] Speaker 3: Care of itself. So contract stuff will take care of itself.
[8:45] Speaker 2: Steph eligible to sign up to a two-year extension for
[8:49] Speaker 2: $ 137 million. He will turn 39 this season. Danny, your
[8:52] Speaker 2: first time in the arena as a member of the cast.
[8:54] Speaker 2: We will start with you. 38 right now, 39 in March, 2027, Gil.
[8:59] Speaker 5: He ain't playing like it, though. When he's out there,
[9:02] Speaker 5: he don't look like it.
[9:03] Speaker 2: So is Steph making the right decision by prioritizing loyalty
[9:07] Speaker 2: over another championship opportunity?
[9:08] Speaker 5: Absolutely. I mean, he has four. You don't need to
[9:12] Speaker 5: chase another one. And, you know, I've watched old school guys.
[9:17] Speaker 5: I'd like to say I came in with some of
[9:18] Speaker 5: the old school guys. You know, there's something to being
[9:21] Speaker 5: with one team and finishing one team. And there's nothing
[9:24] Speaker 5: wrong with riding out to the sunset, even if you
[9:26] Speaker 5: don't win one toward the end of your career, instead
[9:28] Speaker 5: of trying to chase this off. I think that's the
[9:30] Speaker 5: right decision for him. They should keep him and try
[9:32] Speaker 5: to find ways to at least get in the playoffs,
[9:34] Speaker 5: the play-in, because he deserves that. But even if that
[9:38] Speaker 5: doesn't happen, let him finish his career off where he
[9:41] Speaker 5: started it, him, Draymond, Steve Kerr, and then they can
[9:44] Speaker 5: start over when those guys are gone.
[9:46] Speaker 3: All right, let's shift over to this side of the couch.
[9:49] Speaker 2: Boogie Steph entering his 18th season in the league. Like
[9:52] Speaker 2: Danny mentioned, four-time champion, two-time MVP, only unanimous MVP in
[9:56] Speaker 2: NBA history.
[9:57] Speaker 3: But Sadie wants to stay competitive. Is he making the
[9:59] Speaker 3: right decision?
[10:00] Speaker 2: By prioritizing loyalty over trying to win another chip?
[10:05] Speaker 4: I'm not necessarily interested in prioritizing loyalty.
[10:08] Speaker 3: There's no such thing in this business.
[10:10] Speaker 4: But as far as Steph, his legacy in Golden State,
[10:14] Speaker 4: he's already seen many. Like Danny said, he's got four championships.
[10:17] Speaker 4: it's not much more for him to prove in that uniform. Um,
[10:20] Speaker 4: as of now, uh, he deserves to ride, ride off
[10:23] Speaker 4: into the sunset, whichever way he feels.
[10:25] Speaker 3: If that, if that's with Golden State or.
[10:27] Speaker 4: If he chooses to go somewhere else and compete for
[10:30] Speaker 4: a championship somewhere else. But, uh, as far as Golden State,
[10:33] Speaker 4: he deserves to go out his way. Um, he's the
[10:36] Speaker 4: main reason that Golden State is what it is today. Um,
[10:41] Speaker 4: you know, when I first started my career, I believe
[10:43] Speaker 4: I was a year after Steph and, uh, you know,
[10:46] Speaker 4: those beginning years, we were battling to figure out who
[10:48] Speaker 4: was going to be the worst in the West that year.
[10:51] Speaker 4: So to see, you know, 15 plus years later, to
[10:55] Speaker 4: see what Golden State has turned into, one of the,
[10:59] Speaker 4: I think it's one of the most expensive franchises in
[11:02] Speaker 4: the league as of now, a lot of that is
[11:04] Speaker 4: credited to Steph. So he deserves all the money in
[11:06] Speaker 4: the world. He deserves multiple statutes. Whatever this guy wants,
[11:10] Speaker 4: he deserves. So, and I do think Golden State will
[11:13] Speaker 4: meet him with that. But as far as do I believe,
[11:17] Speaker 4: you know, if Golden State can put him in the
[11:19] Speaker 4: position to win more, as of now, no. And I
[11:23] Speaker 4: think that's mainly on Dunleavy. I think a lot of
[11:27] Speaker 4: things went downhill once they lost Bob Myers. I think
[11:30] Speaker 4: they lost their, you know, I think they lost kind
[11:32] Speaker 4: of that zen, that good energy that they had within
[11:35] Speaker 4: the building. I think Bob was a big part of that. And,
[11:39] Speaker 4: you know, as far as, when it comes to Steve Kerr,
[11:43] Speaker 4: his ability to coach young talent. Like you said, Steph
[11:47] Speaker 4: is about to be 39 years old, and we've seen
[11:50] Speaker 4: time and time again how much young talent has gone
[11:52] Speaker 4: through Golden State, all the way up to a number
[11:55] Speaker 4: two pick, and nothing has developed. So I think that's
[12:00] Speaker 4: a big issue as far as developing young talent and
[12:03] Speaker 4: keeping this thing going. If that wasn't an issue for
[12:06] Speaker 4: Golden State, then I would be confident enough to say
[12:09] Speaker 4: I think Steph has another chance at it. Winning another ring.
[12:12] Speaker 3: Being competitive, yeah.
[12:13] Speaker 4: Yeah, but to think you're going to be able to
[12:15] Speaker 4: keep bringing in older talent that can match kind of
[12:17] Speaker 4: that timeline. At this point in Steph's career, you need
[12:20] Speaker 4: that younger talent. But I think that's more so an
[12:24] Speaker 4: organizational issue compared to a Steph issue.
[12:26] Speaker 3: But as far as Steph, he deserves the world and more.
[12:30] Speaker 2: So you talk about the value that Steph's bringing. When
[12:32] Speaker 2: he came in 2009, I think the Warriors were valued
[12:34] Speaker 2: somewhere about $ 315 million. Bottom of all professional sports franchises.
[12:39] Speaker 3: I think like $ 77. 92 million.
[12:41] Speaker 2: Professional sports franchise at that point, not worth about $ 11 billion.
[12:45] Speaker 2: Top five franchise across sports. So everything Steph has done
[12:50] Speaker 2: for the Warriors Guild, what do you think about Steph
[12:52] Speaker 2: saying he's going to stay loyal to the Warriors soil?
[12:54] Speaker 2: He wants the team to be competitive, but he's going
[12:56] Speaker 2: to stay loyal and wants to be a warrior for life.
[13:03] Speaker 1: Most athletes, where you get drafted, unless something drastic happened
[13:07] Speaker 1: with you in management, that's where you want to stay.
[13:10] Speaker 3: That's all you know.
[13:12] Speaker 1: So the fact that all of his success has came there, right,
[13:15] Speaker 1: it's ideal for his legacy. When you're talking about legacy players,
[13:21] Speaker 1: you know, there's not a lot that can say they
[13:23] Speaker 1: stayed with the same team from my rookie season all
[13:26] Speaker 1: the way. There's only a few players in history that
[13:29] Speaker 1: has done that and won and was successful. So there's
[13:35] Speaker 1: no way he leaves on his own, right? They will
[13:38] Speaker 1: have to trade him, which that would look bad on them, but,
[13:40] Speaker 1: you know. history's going to forget anyway, you know, in
[13:43] Speaker 1: 10 years. 10 years, either the city or they get
[13:47] Speaker 1: the number one pick and he does something crazy, then
[13:50] Speaker 1: they'll forget that they did them wrong, you know, just
[13:53] Speaker 1: like Westbrook and OKC. It's, oh, man, why would you
[13:55] Speaker 1: do that for somebody who wanted to stay down for you? So,
[14:00] Speaker 1: just like, you know, just like they said, like, his
[14:03] Speaker 1: legacy is cemented. Usually everyone else's legacy is cemented at
[14:09] Speaker 1: a certain point. And What happens is they stay on
[14:14] Speaker 1: a little bit longer, trying to keep adding to whatever
[14:17] Speaker 1: they can. And, you know, there's usually, you know, people
[14:21] Speaker 1: who don't like that idea because it's tampering with somebody
[14:23] Speaker 1: else's legacy. And that's when they say, well, look, this
[14:27] Speaker 1: hurt his legacy.
[14:28] Speaker 3: No, it fucking didn't.
[14:30] Speaker 1: There's nothing the 39-year-old can do that's going to tear
[14:35] Speaker 1: him down from where he is. If he's in your
[14:38] Speaker 1: top five, if he's the second best point guard ever,
[14:41] Speaker 1: if he's the first If he's the best, if he's
[14:44] Speaker 1: the best right now, there's nothing he can do that's
[14:46] Speaker 1: going to push him back to number two, because number
[14:48] Speaker 1: two has been done for 30 years now. There's nothing
[14:54] Speaker 1: he can do that can push it back to number one.
[14:57] Speaker 1: So one step gets crowned number one. All it does
[15:02] Speaker 1: is it just stops the guy.
[15:04] Speaker 3: Who's who's tracking him. Right.
[15:06] Speaker 1: If that's shade, that's them from, you know, catching them
[15:09] Speaker 1: later on in life. And, you know, that's all it is.
[15:12] Speaker 1: But truthfully, he's the only player right now that if
[15:18] Speaker 1: he wanted to leave and jump ship, I don't think
[15:21] Speaker 1: anybody says anything about him.
[15:24] Speaker 3: He has the– He's always got the pat. That's what
[15:27] Speaker 3: I'm saying. He's always got the pat. He gets the pat.
[15:29] Speaker 1: Like, if he decides to go and team up with Jokic,
[15:33] Speaker 1: no one's going to say anything.
[15:35] Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
[15:35] Speaker 1: Stop going there to get that fifth one.
[15:38] Speaker 3: Be better than LeBron. Why do you think that is, though?
[15:41] Speaker 5: It's a certain guy. It's just like Dame. Like, nobody
[15:42] Speaker 5: had a problem when Dame left.
[15:44] Speaker 3: He got critiqued in Milwaukee, though. He got some backlash.
[15:49] Speaker 4: But I feel– The way we hold guys to standards
[15:53] Speaker 4: in this league, as far as, you know, the LeBrons,
[15:55] Speaker 4: the Kevin Durants, the Kawhis, whoever, the moment they, you know,
[16:02] Speaker 4: have an early exit in the playoffs, miss the playoffs,
[16:05] Speaker 4: it's just, we.
[16:07] Speaker 3: Harp on them.
[16:08] Speaker 4: Steph can do no wrong, no matter how the season,
[16:12] Speaker 4: if he wins one, if he loses one, it's the same.
[16:14] Speaker 5: I think because he's just, when you look at him,
[16:17] Speaker 5: he's over-exceeded expectations. Like, he doesn't have the stature of LeBron, Kawhi,
[16:21] Speaker 5: and For him at that size with the athleticism or
[16:25] Speaker 5: the lack of to be one of the top point guards,
[16:28] Speaker 5: he's done more than anybody could ever expect. Every kid
[16:31] Speaker 5: is relatable to most kids because of his stature. So
[16:36] Speaker 5: they don't have the expectation as a Giannis who's 6'11,
[16:39] Speaker 5: or Kawhi, 6'9. These guys are different type of creatures, bro.
[16:44] Speaker 5: Maybe that's part of it. But also maybe because he's
[16:47] Speaker 5: a religious, godly man. You know, people, he's the face of,
[16:50] Speaker 5: he's a very clean-cut, innocent kid, man, now dude, that
[16:53] Speaker 5: people gravitate toward. And he has that brand that people
[16:56] Speaker 5: are like, I respect how he lives his life and
[16:58] Speaker 5: walks his path.
[16:58] Speaker 3: Right.
[17:00] Speaker 1: I think you hit it on the head that he
[17:02] Speaker 1: is normal, Compared to everyone else.
[17:07] Speaker 3: Relatable. Yeah, relatable. Like you're talking.
[17:09] Speaker 1: About a guy who's 6'3, but looks a little bit
[17:12] Speaker 1: shorter than that, you know, compared to everyone else.
[17:14] Speaker 3: He's not very athletic. He's not very fast. Right. He
[17:17] Speaker 3: works hard. Right. He's a family man. So all of
[17:20] Speaker 3: that is like. What more can he do for anyone?
[17:25] Speaker 1: He's done carried these guys.
[17:29] Speaker 3: It's not like he's 6'10. He can jump over everybody.
[17:32] Speaker 3: He's not Shaquille O'Neal. He's a normal looking.
[17:36] Speaker 1: Guy that's won four championships, that's done something no one
[17:40] Speaker 1: has ever done. So if he just says, hey, I
[17:42] Speaker 1: want to go leave because they're not providing for me
[17:46] Speaker 1: to get that fifth one, everyone's going to be like.
[17:49] Speaker 3: Damn right.
[17:50] Speaker 1: Go get that fifth ring and be better than LeBron.
[17:54] Speaker 3: Roberto's going to always be. There's always a villain.
[17:58] Speaker 1: If he's the good guy and there's a villain, if
[18:01] Speaker 1: you can get it, you can get it.
[18:03] Speaker 3: We're going to put like that's how it works. It's
[18:06] Speaker 3: just that guy. You're literally the hero that's just tearing
[18:10] Speaker 3: down giants.
[18:10] Speaker 5: It would be different if he came into the league
[18:12] Speaker 5: and they were already The standard was, oh, he's got
[18:15] Speaker 5: to be magic.
[18:15] Speaker 3: We've got to compare. Right.
[18:16] Speaker 5: Braun came in and they're always comparing him to Mike.
[18:18] Speaker 5: They're not comparing Steph to Mike or Braun because he's
[18:20] Speaker 5: just not in that conversation.
[18:22] Speaker 3: I agree. Yeah, yeah, not very fast.
[18:24] Speaker 4: I mean, when it comes to Braun, I think that's
[18:27] Speaker 4: just a whole other topic.
[18:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's. The expectations that came here were crazy. Yeah.
[18:33] Speaker 3: It's a different topic. The only person that's going to
[18:36] Speaker 3: be in that category is Wimby now. Mm-hmm.
[18:40] Speaker 1: Like when you're talking about from early age, like dominance
[18:43] Speaker 1: and that name, right?
[18:46] Speaker 4: It's, it's, you know, when B is, yeah, there's really,
[18:50] Speaker 4: was it anybody else? Brian, Wimby, I think Zion. I
[18:55] Speaker 4: was going to say Zion.
[18:56] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[18:59] Speaker 3: Zion was like the end of 10th grade, right? The
[19:04] Speaker 3: end of 10th grade. Then his name blew up.
[19:06] Speaker 1: But when you're talking about middle school greatness, And at 13, 14,
[19:09] Speaker 1: fucking Luka, technically.
[19:12] Speaker 3: Luka? Yeah. He came in with a lot of expectations.
[19:15] Speaker 5: Yeah, he was young coming from the EuroLeague.
[19:17] Speaker 3: Yeah, I know what you're saying. No.
[19:22] Speaker 1: But we knew about him as, like, oh, shit, because
[19:25] Speaker 1: he played against Boston Celtics.
[19:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. Same thing with Ricky Rubio, then, if you
[19:28] Speaker 3: want to take it back to that. Ricky Rubio. It
[19:30] Speaker 3: was like the young product.
[19:31] Speaker 5: Go way back, like, Greg Oden.
[19:33] Speaker 3: Greg Oden was another guy. OJ.
[19:35] Speaker 1: But on this status, when you're talking about from middle
[19:38] Speaker 1: school all the way, then it's LeBron, then probably Wimby.
[19:40] Speaker 2: All right, well, let's shift back to Steph. So we
[19:44] Speaker 2: talked about these Warriors' last four seasons winning that chip.
[19:47] Speaker 2: Left much to be desired. So if you listen to it,
[19:50] Speaker 2: Steph said in those comments he did throw in though
[19:52] Speaker 2: he wants Golden State to be competitive oh yeah he's.
[19:57] Speaker 5: Got as a competitor.
[19:59] Speaker 1: I'm just gonna take this bag and chill out but
[20:02] Speaker 1: does Steph's be competitive comments sound like a warning At
[20:05] Speaker 1: least somewhere to the Warriors front.
[20:08] Speaker 2: Mike Dunleavy, we had Bob Myers here. You got to
[20:11] Speaker 2: get something done.
[20:12] Speaker 4: I don't think it's in a threatening manner of I'll
[20:14] Speaker 4: be out, but it's like y'all ain't going to just
[20:16] Speaker 4: have me for nothing. Y'all still going to have to
[20:19] Speaker 4: work even though I'm here. Even though I'm at the
[20:20] Speaker 4: end of my career, I still expect y'all to put
[20:23] Speaker 4: in as much effort as I do. So that's what
[20:25] Speaker 4: I got from the message.
[20:26] Speaker 5: You know when some guys say things, you know it's like, oh,
[20:28] Speaker 5: this motherfucker, he's sending a warning shot. I don't see
[20:31] Speaker 5: that from Steph when he talks like that. To coaching staff, roster,
[20:36] Speaker 5: or ownership, he's never, to me, like, thrown jabs or
[20:40] Speaker 5: thrown warning signs of, like, y'all need to get it right.
[20:43] Speaker 5: I think it's more so, like, I just love the
[20:45] Speaker 5: game of basketball. I want to be competitive. Yes, can
[20:47] Speaker 5: y'all do that? And if they don't, I don't think
[20:48] Speaker 5: he's like, oh, I'm out. But he's never not said
[20:53] Speaker 5: the right thing. He's not going to go out there
[20:55] Speaker 5: and say, oh, yeah, no, I don't care. You know
[20:57] Speaker 5: what I'm saying? He's going to go out there and say, yeah,
[20:58] Speaker 5: I want to win.
[21:00] Speaker 3: With these last four years of, like, how their season's been.
[21:03] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's been pretty rough.
[21:05] Speaker 3: You think he wants to end his career on that note? No.
[21:10] Speaker 4: The same level of kind of mediocrity? From the team
[21:13] Speaker 4: or for him? I mean, he's on the team, so
[21:15] Speaker 4: it's for him as well.
[21:16] Speaker 5: I would say, I mean, I think he thinks if
[21:19] Speaker 5: Jimmy's healthy, if he's healthy, they can still be in
[21:22] Speaker 5: the play and make the playoffs. I think he's okay
[21:24] Speaker 5: with that.
[21:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, when you're talking about being 39 and getting in
[21:31] Speaker 1: shape and being in the shape that he has to
[21:33] Speaker 1: be on to do what he does.
[21:34] Speaker 3: Right.
[21:35] Speaker 1: The one thing he would not want is that team
[21:39] Speaker 1: to be in rebuilding mode because now the game becomes
[21:44] Speaker 1: very hard for him because now we're going to double,
[21:47] Speaker 1: we're going to trip, you're going to run around, you're
[21:48] Speaker 1: going to be tired, and you're going to be wanting.
[21:50] Speaker 3: To get out of this league.
[21:51] Speaker 1: But as long as you have other players on there
[21:54] Speaker 1: that can do a job, you get to play him honest,
[21:57] Speaker 1: and as long as you play him honest, he gets
[21:59] Speaker 1: to keep more years alive.
[22:01] Speaker 3: Into this league, right? Because I'll be damned.
[22:03] Speaker 5: Competitive years.
[22:04] Speaker 3: Competitive years.
[22:05] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, he don't want to be that.
[22:07] Speaker 5: Because rebuild means, like, he's going to have to let
[22:09] Speaker 5: somebody else do it and just be the vet.
[22:10] Speaker 2: What's that starting lineup look like? So I was going
[22:12] Speaker 2: to ask you, I mean, you're talking about rebuild. Like
[22:15] Speaker 2: I said, struck out on Giannis. Talks about 80.
[22:17] Speaker 3: You're talking about championship.
[22:19] Speaker 1: Rebuilding means Jimmy Butler's gone, Draymond Green is gone, and
[22:23] Speaker 1: I got a bunch of first-year, second-year players which no
[22:27] Speaker 1: defense is going to respect.
[22:30] Speaker 3: Porzingis is still there. So you're talking about a starting
[22:33] Speaker 3: five projected depth right now.
[22:34] Speaker 2: Al Horford's still there too, I think. Yeah, Al Horford's
[22:36] Speaker 2: still there. Gary Payne's still there. They brought a lot
[22:39] Speaker 2: of those guys back. We're talking about Steph, Pajemski, Guy Santos,
[22:42] Speaker 2: potentially Axel Lindenberg in there. Draymond and Kristaps Porzingis.
[22:48] Speaker 3: They don't have a bad squad. Who is Pazinski sleeping with, bro? Man.
[22:56] Speaker 3: Jesus Christ. Tell me about it. Man! Like, wait a minute. No,
[23:01] Speaker 3: it's a real question, bro. That is a real, valid question. Stop.
[23:05] Speaker 3: For real. This man got to... No, he has to...
[23:07] Speaker 3: He got to know something or know somebody.
[23:10] Speaker 5: He's got some.
[23:10] Speaker 3: Because there's no way... When I played for the Warriors,
[23:13] Speaker 3: I didn't get that much of a leash. I got
[23:15] Speaker 3: rid of Clay... When I was coming on three all...
[23:17] Speaker 3: Four all-stars. I didn't get that much of a leash.
[23:19] Speaker 5: I mean, so when you was... He was young then, right?
[23:22] Speaker 5: But he did not do things the right way? Did
[23:24] Speaker 5: he not do what they asked of him?
[23:25] Speaker 3: Like.
[23:26] Speaker 5: You know, the issue with Kaminga was, like, you know,
[23:28] Speaker 5: he wasn't buying in.
[23:29] Speaker 3: But he's produced. That's the near. Average 14, 5, and
[23:33] Speaker 3: 4 last season. Boom. What did he shoot from the three?
[23:36] Speaker 3: He was 43% from the field, 37% from three.
[23:39] Speaker 1: Klay got booed out of the Golden State. Average 18
[23:42] Speaker 1: with them same stats.
[23:43] Speaker 3: So I'm trying to figure out. Exactly. Because it's not
[23:45] Speaker 3: like you don't play the defense. He's not a game changer.
[23:49] Speaker 3: He's not a game changer. I would say that. For
[23:52] Speaker 3: him to have as much. I think he's a solid
[23:53] Speaker 3: role player.
[23:54] Speaker 5: I think Paz, because I've seen him have some good,
[23:56] Speaker 5: like he's done some good stuff for him. But again,
[23:57] Speaker 5: I get what you're saying.
[23:58] Speaker 3: I mean.
[23:59] Speaker 5: The expectation, you can't have the expectation of Klay with him, though.
[24:02] Speaker 3: He took Klay's spot. Klay was struggling.
[24:06] Speaker 5: They booted Klay for him. He was struggling at 37,
[24:08] Speaker 5: clip from.
[24:08] Speaker 3: The three, struggling. Klay was shooting 39% his last season
[24:14] Speaker 3: with the Warriors. Come on, bro. Average 18. Come on, bro.
[24:18] Speaker 3: And they said Klay wasn't good enough. So they put
[24:21] Speaker 3: this kid in, and now you're telling me he's good enough. Man,
[24:23] Speaker 3: about 29 minutes per game. Pods, similar minutes per game.
[24:26] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[24:26] Speaker 5: Well, I think they were just trying to shake it
[24:27] Speaker 5: up for Klay's mental more than anything, right? Like, when
[24:29] Speaker 5: he came on the bench, he got hot for a second.
[24:32] Speaker 4: They shipped him off. They didn't want him back. No,
[24:34] Speaker 4: they tried to bring him back. He's free agency left, right?
[24:37] Speaker 4: Klay felt so disrespected by the offer. He didn't want, yeah,
[24:40] Speaker 4: because they paid Draymond. They knew it was disrespected.
[24:42] Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. They knew that.
[24:44] Speaker 5: But it was more money than what he got, though,
[24:46] Speaker 5: if I'm not mistaken. Probably not.
[24:48] Speaker 4: When you consider the taxes going to Texas, California, I'm
[24:51] Speaker 4: pretty sure he made more than that.
[24:52] Speaker 5: So, like, 11 a year in Texas. They were out from, like,
[24:54] Speaker 5: two years, 46. I think it was, like, 23 or
[24:56] Speaker 5: something like that a year from.
[24:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just... It's just confusing because the style doesn't match.
[25:01] Speaker 3: I think they still wanted him to come off the bench, too, right?
[25:04] Speaker 5: Yes.
[25:04] Speaker 3: I'm not playing behind... This still doesn't... Like, his skill set.
[25:07] Speaker 1: His skill set doesn't match.
[25:09] Speaker 3: It don't even match the system. Yeah, it's like you're
[25:13] Speaker 3: like a guard, like a tweener type of guard.
[25:16] Speaker 1: That has to bop when he plays. So it's not
[25:20] Speaker 1: like you're like a fast. So you're more on the
[25:24] Speaker 1: Jalen Brunson style of playing versus the Golden State style.
[25:28] Speaker 1: But he's not good at the style of play either.
[25:29] Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, yeah.
[25:31] Speaker 1: So it's like, why are they holding on to you
[25:34] Speaker 1: to the point where you named him in the starting
[25:36] Speaker 1: lineup in this season?
[25:38] Speaker 5: I think he's good, but I don't think they were like,
[25:41] Speaker 5: if they were trying to trade for a Giannis, I
[25:43] Speaker 5: think they would have put him in that deal.
[25:45] Speaker 3: I think that's why they didn't get a Giannis. Because
[25:48] Speaker 3: he was in that deal.
[25:49] Speaker 5: Don't nobody want him, bro.
[25:52] Speaker 4: If Paz is the cherry on top of the deal,
[25:55] Speaker 4: what are we talking about?
[25:57] Speaker 5: I'm with you, but I'm thinking, it's not like he's
[25:59] Speaker 5: one of those guys that, like, oh, we have to
[26:00] Speaker 5: keep him. I don't think he is looked at in
[26:02] Speaker 5: that light.
[26:03] Speaker 1: Like, if this was DiVincenzo, like, that's next to him, like,
[26:06] Speaker 1: that makes sense.
[26:07] Speaker 3: I agree. That combo makes sense. I agree. Like, the
[26:10] Speaker 3: DiVincenzo style. They didn't keep DiVincenzo either. Like, that makes sense,
[26:15] Speaker 3: that style.
[26:16] Speaker 5: He started flourishing after he left there, though.
[26:18] Speaker 3: Who?
[26:18] Speaker 5: DiVincenzo.
[26:19] Speaker 3: He still fit.
[26:20] Speaker 4: All I'm saying is when it comes to trying to
[26:24] Speaker 4: figure this scenario out is more so Klay wasn't good
[26:27] Speaker 4: enough in the system that was created for him. You
[26:32] Speaker 4: kind of gave him the boot. However you want to
[26:33] Speaker 4: word it, they didn't agree.
[26:36] Speaker 3: So Klay left.
[26:37] Speaker 4: And you're basically saying, this is the guy that we
[26:40] Speaker 4: wanted in Klay's spot anyway, regardless if he accepted the
[26:43] Speaker 4: deal or not.
[26:43] Speaker 5: Because part of Klay accepting the deal was to come
[26:47] Speaker 5: off the bench.
[26:48] Speaker 4: So we now look at Paz play within this system.
[26:51] Speaker 4: Paz could probably go be... I'm gonna be more positive.
[26:54] Speaker 4: He can go be a 10-time All-Star in another system.
[26:57] Speaker 4: But this system here, it don't make sense. I'm just
[27:01] Speaker 4: trying to be nice about it.
[27:02] Speaker 1: I mean, nice is just saying you can... He can
[27:05] Speaker 1: go be an All-Star somewhere else.
[27:07] Speaker 3: Just one. Half.
[27:09] Speaker 4: As far as him showing himself in this Warriors system,
[27:12] Speaker 4: next to Steph, next to Draymond, and then you think
[27:15] Speaker 4: about what used to be there in Klay, it's not
[27:18] Speaker 4: adding up.
[27:19] Speaker 3: The math ain't math.
[27:20] Speaker 5: Yeah, like Jordan Poole probably fits better than odds. That's
[27:24] Speaker 5: what you're saying. I get what you're saying. Just given
[27:28] Speaker 5: the other.
[27:29] Speaker 3: Is there another shooting guard around there? What's the other
[27:32] Speaker 3: shooting guard? It would be Moody, right? Moody? Moses Moody?
[27:35] Speaker 3: He's out for... Yeah, he's out for a while.
[27:39] Speaker 5: But before he got hurt, he still was.
[27:43] Speaker 3: You got.
[27:43] Speaker 5: Porzingis, you got Draymond, right? You got Pods. Who else
[27:48] Speaker 5: is there?
[27:48] Speaker 3: Santos.
[27:49] Speaker 5: Jimmy. Jimmy's coming back from ACL.
[27:51] Speaker 3: You got De'Anthony Melton coming back. Mel Richard.
[27:54] Speaker 2: You got Brandon Williams who's coming up. I like Brandon Williams.
[27:59] Speaker 2: I like Brandon Williams. He did well last season.
[28:01] Speaker 3: He did who? Got to it.
[28:03] Speaker 5: Okay.
[28:04] Speaker 3: 50-bucket getter. And then Lindenburg.
[28:05] Speaker 5: I feel like there's somebody else we're missing. Who's else
[28:08] Speaker 5: on the roster?
[28:08] Speaker 3: We said Horford.
[28:09] Speaker 5: Horford did, but I feel like there's another guard.
[28:11] Speaker 3: Peyton? Gary Payton? Yeah, Gary Payton is second. Well, they
[28:14] Speaker 3: play him at the four.
[28:15] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[28:15] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[28:16] Speaker 3: You got Niang. 6'2 at the 4.
[28:17] Speaker 5: George Niang. Shooting a little. Shooting a pick and pop 4.
[28:20] Speaker 3: Imagine. No, no. Imagine being a guard, dog. Right? Imagine
[28:26] Speaker 3: being a guard.
[28:28] Speaker 5: Right?
[28:29] Speaker 1: And you played your whole career in a dunker spot
[28:32] Speaker 1: being a foreman. And when it goes down in history,
[28:36] Speaker 1: you're like, this is the cat.
[28:38] Speaker 3: I'm with the Tim Dunkers and shit. Right? To GP,
[28:43] Speaker 3: dude can jump with the best.
[28:47] Speaker 5: Overachieve, bro.
[28:48] Speaker 3: Like, let me jump with the guards. This ain't got
[28:50] Speaker 3: nothing to do with GP. This is more just fitting
[28:53] Speaker 3: with the assist.
[28:54] Speaker 5: Very good utility player. You know what I'm saying? He
[28:55] Speaker 5: plays a Draymond role as well.
[28:56] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
[28:57] Speaker 5: He can screen, smart, high IQ. They got some work
[29:01] Speaker 5: to do.
[29:02] Speaker 3: But if healthy.
[29:03] Speaker 5: If healthy, they could be in the play.
[29:05] Speaker 3: I think they got a good squad. Healthy.
[29:06] Speaker 5: If they're healthy.
[29:07] Speaker 3: 7-9.
[29:07] Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying? They could be right there.
[29:09] Speaker 4: And I think they could also become a bigger team
[29:12] Speaker 4: as far as, you know, if Jimmy is healthy, you
[29:14] Speaker 4: could put him at the 2. Yaxel, I think, can
[29:17] Speaker 4: play 3-4. You know, Draymond, same thing. And you go
[29:21] Speaker 4: with the Zingas at the 5.
[29:21] Speaker 1: They can go big as well.
[29:23] Speaker 3: That's a good group. I think that's a good group.
[29:25] Speaker 2: Well, it's going to take a while to get there, obviously,
[29:27] Speaker 2: with Jimmy coming back from the ACL. But you look
[29:29] Speaker 2: at this team now. And looking ahead to the future, Steph, Jimmy, Buckets, Draymond,
[29:32] Speaker 2: all in the final year of their deals. Warriors looking
[29:35] Speaker 2: to have more than about $ 100 million in cap space
[29:37] Speaker 2: next season.
[29:38] Speaker 3: That doesn't include.
[29:39] Speaker 2: re-signing Steph, who's eligible, obviously, for that two-year $ 137 million deal.
[29:42] Speaker 5: You're thinking about $ 70 million of that?
[29:45] Speaker 3: So all of them are up? Whatever you want. Those
[29:47] Speaker 3: three are up all in the final year of their deal.
[29:50] Speaker 5: So Jimmy, Draymond, and Steph.
[29:52] Speaker 3: All in the final years of their deal. Who's free
[29:55] Speaker 3: agents then? Let me see here. Oh, yeah, we're about
[30:00] Speaker 3: to get tricky. I think Kevin, is Kevin Durant? Probably.
[30:05] Speaker 3: On the final year. You never know. You never know.
[30:08] Speaker 3: Kevin Durant, Steph, obviously, will be mentioned in that mix.
[30:11] Speaker 1: Uh-huh.
[30:12] Speaker 3: Got to keep an eye on that. Name me a forward.
[30:16] Speaker 3: Kawhi Potenti, MPJ. No, no, no, name me a forward,
[30:19] Speaker 3: a center. A center? Ooh.
[30:21] Speaker 5: Power forward.
[30:22] Speaker 3: Jokic. Who's up? Potenti Jokic. If he opts out? I
[30:27] Speaker 3: believe so. And they're saying they're not sure if they
[30:30] Speaker 3: want to pay Yogi's, right?
[30:31] Speaker 5: No, they got them.
[30:32] Speaker 3: They're going to pay them, but. Cronky cheat now. Catch Giannis, Kat, KD. Giannis, Kat, KD.
[30:41] Speaker 3: AD potential. I mean, there's.
[30:42] Speaker 5: It's over, man.
[30:44] Speaker 3: I mean. I mean.
[30:46] Speaker 1: No, what I'm saying is.
[30:48] Speaker 5: And then let them get their last year.
[30:51] Speaker 3: I mean, what about a Steph in Miami, though? He
[30:54] Speaker 3: ain't going nowhere. No, he ain't going nowhere. He ain't
[30:56] Speaker 3: going nowhere. But what I'm saying is if I got
[30:58] Speaker 3: all this money, if I got all this money.
[31:00] Speaker 5: Again, so, again, Steph's going to take about 70 to that.
[31:03] Speaker 3: Okay.
[31:04] Speaker 5: You got about 30 to get two solid pieces.
[31:07] Speaker 1: I mean, but if he don't take 70 and I
[31:10] Speaker 1: can go out there and get a Jokic or somebody
[31:13] Speaker 1: else and Steph is.
[31:14] Speaker 5: If he takes a LeBron deal, you can get a lot.
[31:16] Speaker 5: You get a lot.
[31:17] Speaker 3: What?
[31:18] Speaker 5: He ain't taking a two-year eight, though.
[31:19] Speaker 3: I don't see that happening. Who?
[31:21] Speaker 4: You think he's taking the pay cut after? He started
[31:24] Speaker 4: off rough.
[31:25] Speaker 3: He's still playing catch-up right now. You know he owns
[31:28] Speaker 3: San Francisco, right?
[31:29] Speaker 1: He probably owns Redwood City out there.
[31:33] Speaker 3: You can give it to me somewhere else. That's true.
[31:37] Speaker 3: We might be investigating the war, isn't it?
[31:40] Speaker 1: Whatever happened to that language that said, you will probably
[31:44] Speaker 1: know more, that language that said that they can invest
[31:48] Speaker 1: into the team.
[31:50] Speaker 5: Yeah, what is that?
[31:52] Speaker 3: When is that shit kicking in?
[31:54] Speaker 5: I don't know when. I don't know the proper language,
[31:55] Speaker 5: but he might have an opportunity to get a percentage.
[31:59] Speaker 5: People talk about certain superstars getting liquid or a percentage
[32:01] Speaker 5: into the team, which would help.
[32:03] Speaker 3: He definitely deserved that.
[32:06] Speaker 1: I was asking how much money, I remember asking a GM,
[32:10] Speaker 1: how much money can a superstar take? Like if it's
[32:16] Speaker 1: a max player. what is the number before they start investigating?
[32:20] Speaker 1: So if he's supposed to get 50, if he's supposed
[32:23] Speaker 1: to get 50 a year and this motherfucker take 10
[32:24] Speaker 1: a year, like to, to bring in more people, like,
[32:28] Speaker 1: is that like, that's an investigation? It's like, yes, of course.
[32:32] Speaker 1: Those are some red flags. So you have to get
[32:35] Speaker 1: as close to whatever your worth is.
[32:37] Speaker 3: And I didn't even know you can do that.
[32:39] Speaker 2: I don't think they can buy direct equity into the teams,
[32:41] Speaker 2: but through the NBA PA, they can do like private
[32:43] Speaker 2: equity funds and passively invest.
[32:46] Speaker 3: But I don't think it's like a huge, huge sum.
[32:47] Speaker 3: I don't know. That's not my area of expertise, but.
[32:51] Speaker 5: Yeah, it can't be less than 10 a year, what
[32:54] Speaker 5: you're missing out on, really. So it's got to be
[32:57] Speaker 5: close to... Like, if he's due for 50, he's got
[32:59] Speaker 5: to be at least at 40.
[33:00] Speaker 3: Close to 40, damn.
[33:02] Speaker 5: Like, anything less than 40, they're probably investigating.
[33:05] Speaker 1: All right, well... So LeBron's getting investigated. So LeBron is
[33:10] Speaker 1: getting investigated. Philly, y'all, they're investigating.
[33:11] Speaker 3: Buy the book, LeBron. I'm just going to just ask.
[33:16] Speaker 3: Just ask. Just buy the book, LeBron.
[33:18] Speaker 1: You can't say you was getting 50 a year and
[33:20] Speaker 1: then you take eight.
[33:21] Speaker 3: We could have gave you eight. We could have gave
[33:25] Speaker 3: you eight. We could have gave Bronny eight. Shit, I mean.
[33:29] Speaker 3: It's the principalities.
[33:31] Speaker 1: We could have gave a whole bunch of eights out there.
[33:33] Speaker 2: It's the principalities. You're not just going to do me dirty. Yeah,
[33:36] Speaker 2: we're going to give a whole bunch of eights. I'm
[33:37] Speaker 2: going to Philly then.
[33:38] Speaker 5: He could have took eight anywhere.
[33:40] Speaker 3: Took Luka to Backstreet Boys. Did not take Bronny to
[33:42] Speaker 3: Lionel Richie. I'm just saying if the investigation is not open,
[33:47] Speaker 3: God damn it, something's wrong here. You just free will.
[33:50] Speaker 1: Because I can tell you this, he's not a Lakenham though.
[33:54] Speaker 1: So he's back to the enemy again.
[33:56] Speaker 3: And I'm sorry. I'm just figuring out like eight million.
[34:03] Speaker 3: Wouldn't take a pay cut over here in the purple. No. Fifty.
[34:09] Speaker 3: Eight in Philly. Cold. Wanted to be competitive. Sunshine. Golf course. Kids.
[34:16] Speaker 3: Wanted to be competitive. Family. Eight. What did he get?
[34:20] Speaker 3: Family got some golf courses, right? He got the opportunity.
[34:23] Speaker 1: They're wet and cold.
[34:26] Speaker 3: Indoor golf, girl. You're going to have to have boots on.
[34:29] Speaker 3: Top golf it is. Top golf. I just want to know.
[34:35] Speaker 2: It's the principalities and the disrespect, Gil. I got two
[34:39] Speaker 2: dudes who were here postseason. I win a first-round series
[34:42] Speaker 2: against the Rockets. This how y'all do me? I go
[34:44] Speaker 2: to Philly.
[34:45] Speaker 3: Nah, that's fact.
[34:46] Speaker 5: That's a very big, stubborn statement to make for some disrespect.
[34:50] Speaker 3: What was the disrespect? I mean, how do you meet disrespect?
[34:53] Speaker 3: With kindness?
[34:54] Speaker 5: But to take that much less?
[34:58] Speaker 3: I mean, he brought him a chip. Yeah!
[35:00] Speaker 5: But again, if I'm going elsewhere, I'm still going to get,
[35:02] Speaker 5: he could have at least got 20 somewhere.
[35:04] Speaker 3: I think it was more a slap in the face
[35:06] Speaker 3: than a layup.
[35:07] Speaker 5: He could have made an all-NBA team, almost. If he
[35:10] Speaker 5: did 65 games, he could have been an all-NBA team.
[35:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
[35:12] Speaker 5: And those guys are making 50, 60, some 70.
[35:14] Speaker 3: Man, I'm just sharing. They need to probe around for you.
[35:18] Speaker 3: My guy chasing greatness, man. And then Embiid's skinny. Like,
[35:22] Speaker 3: as soon as LeBron gets there, Embiid's skinny. All right.
[35:25] Speaker 3: That's crazy. Like, I'm saying, on Tuesday, before LeBron, he
[35:29] Speaker 3: was fat. Wednesday afternoon, he's skinny again. Like, that's crazy.
[35:35] Speaker 3: What's going on? What's going on? Longevity. No, I'm just saying.
[35:40] Speaker 3: I'm just saying. Like, the cat's out the bag. Y'all
[35:44] Speaker 3: didn't appreciate it when he was here. The cat's out
[35:45] Speaker 3: the bag. He's no longer a Laker.
[35:47] Speaker 1: I just want to know, why has nobody ever got
[35:49] Speaker 1: in trouble when LeBron's on the team?
[35:54] Speaker 3: That's not your concern anymore. This nigga got presidential clearance?
[35:56] Speaker 3: That's not your concern anymore.
[35:57] Speaker 1: Tristan Thompson was doing dirt.
[36:01] Speaker 3: All the girls, he was nothing. Soon as he leave, boom.
[36:05] Speaker 3: Videos coming out. That's the Tristan we know. I'm just saying. Right?
[36:11] Speaker 3: I'm just trying to figure this out.
[36:14] Speaker 2: That's not your concern anymore, Gilbert. Have fun with Luka.
[36:17] Speaker 2: In Austin Ritz. I mean, technically, Luka lost weight with.
[36:20] Speaker 5: Braun, too. You got that diplomatic immunity, bro. Bring on
[36:26] Speaker 5: that badge. There ain't no investigations with Braun on the team.
[36:30] Speaker 3: Let's get back to Steph real quick. Nobody's ever got
[36:34] Speaker 3: a speeding ticket. Like I'm just saying, I just be honest.
[36:38] Speaker 3: No one's ever... My dog KCP was on house arrest.
[36:41] Speaker 3: Nobody knew it.
[36:43] Speaker 1: We seen it in a game. Nobody reported on it.
[36:47] Speaker 3: A bronze there.
[36:49] Speaker 1: That was a meme because he did not play a
[36:52] Speaker 1: game with an ankle monitor. I'm just saying, if you
[36:55] Speaker 1: just think about the history, it's like... Wait a minute.
[36:59] Speaker 1: No speed tickets, no nothing. Not Miami, LA, no nothing.
[37:06] Speaker 3: Nothing. Quiet. I'm trying to think of something. He's closed
[37:11] Speaker 3: all that shit down. You didn't appreciate it? Y'all keep talking.
[37:18] Speaker 5: It had to be something.
[37:19] Speaker 3: 24 years, man. Nothing, not a nothing.
[37:27] Speaker 2: Back to Steph real quick. So, 43 games last season,
[37:31] Speaker 2: Steph averaged 27 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds on 47, 39,
[37:36] Speaker 2: 92 splits. Surpassing Dwayne Wade for the most points per
[37:40] Speaker 2: game in a season for a guard, 37 or older.
[37:42] Speaker 2: The previous record, 15 points per game for Dwayne Wade.
[37:45] Speaker 2: Steph averaging 27 a game. How impressive is Steph Curry
[37:49] Speaker 2: playing at this level this late into his career?
[37:52] Speaker 5: I mean, we all older now. We know how hard
[37:54] Speaker 5: it is to get up off the couch or even
[37:58] Speaker 5: Hoop to play in the NBA at 38, 39. Those numbers,
[38:04] Speaker 5: the way he plays, he's constantly running.
[38:07] Speaker 3: Yes, the way he plays.
[38:08] Speaker 5: He's running off screens. He's got the ball.
[38:10] Speaker 3: He's dribbling.
[38:11] Speaker 5: He's bringing the ball. He's doing everything to keep them competitive. So, again,
[38:18] Speaker 5: very impressive. I'm trying to think of somebody that age
[38:21] Speaker 5: other than Braun that's done it. That's more impressive.
[38:24] Speaker 3: Kevin Durant.
[38:25] Speaker 5: KD, but even again, KD's off the ball. He don't
[38:28] Speaker 5: have to run as much. He's seven feet. You ain't
[38:30] Speaker 5: contesting a shot.
[38:31] Speaker 4: We talking about a guy that's had a broken foot,
[38:34] Speaker 4: torn Achilles. We talking about injuries that end careers.
[38:39] Speaker 3: Yeah. He will have the second highest career average at.
[38:47] Speaker 3: Damn.
[38:47] Speaker 5: I put him right behind Bron.
[38:50] Speaker 3: It's Bron, Hemden, KD.
[38:52] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[38:52] Speaker 4: I think we're having the same conversation about Steph that
[38:55] Speaker 4: we're having about Bron. And it's more so to, you know,
[38:59] Speaker 4: being up in age. Obviously, you can be up in
[39:01] Speaker 4: age and still, you know, get by. But to play
[39:05] Speaker 4: the same exact way that you were playing in your
[39:07] Speaker 4: 20s and your early prime, like, it's only a select few.
[39:11] Speaker 4: And I think we just named those three. And one
[39:14] Speaker 4: of those guys, you know, dealing with injuries that end
[39:18] Speaker 4: most guys' careers. So, I mean, credit to those three. But,
[39:22] Speaker 4: I mean, as far as Steph doing what he's doing,
[39:24] Speaker 4: being a smaller guard, not being the most athletic, not
[39:27] Speaker 4: being the strongest, not being the fastest, not being the quickest,
[39:30] Speaker 4: just going out there, pure heart and determination.
[39:33] Speaker 3: I mean, his greatness can't be ignored. Not at all.
[39:36] Speaker 1: And this is why history is very important. I'm looking
[39:39] Speaker 1: at who is all NBA players or type of players
[39:43] Speaker 1: at the age.
[39:43] Speaker 3: Of 37, 38.
[39:44] Speaker 1: At 38, there's only been two players, Kareem and LeBron.
[39:49] Speaker 3: Wow. Wow.
[39:53] Speaker 1: So and this is why, like when when we say cemented,
[39:57] Speaker 1: that means it's closed. There's nothing negative that can happen
[40:02] Speaker 1: to their career, only positive. They they keep winning, keep
[40:06] Speaker 1: making more all NBA. You can add it on to it.
[40:08] Speaker 1: But there's nothing you can say wrong about the person
[40:12] Speaker 1: because the competition that you're comparing them to.
[40:15] Speaker 3: Didn't exist then. They don't exist.
[40:18] Speaker 1: Their stats don't exist. Their greatness don't exist. So you
[40:21] Speaker 1: can't use the age that they're playing. Oh, you didn't
[40:25] Speaker 1: make it out of the first round. He don't have
[40:28] Speaker 1: no competition at his age. So it don't matter. You
[40:30] Speaker 1: can't use it as a knock and say, well, you know,
[40:33] Speaker 1: Magic didn't have it.
[40:34] Speaker 3: Well, Magic didn't play at this age.
[40:37] Speaker 1: So this is extra. And that's how we have to
[40:41] Speaker 1: start judging it. That the people, him, KD... When you're
[40:47] Speaker 1: comparing them to their peers, you have to realize that
[40:53] Speaker 1: they were great enough, smart enough, conscious enough to take
[41:01] Speaker 1: care of their body.
[41:03] Speaker 3: Discipline. To be great as long as possible. That is
[41:07] Speaker 3: a skill. Absolutely. Right? That's what we're taught. To be great. Longevity.
[41:14] Speaker 3: Not five years. They're pushing the limit of greatness. 15,
[41:18] Speaker 3: 20 years of dominating. That's a skill. 100%. Running like
[41:26] Speaker 3: he's running at the... I couldn't do that shit after
[41:29] Speaker 3: I got hurt at 25.
[41:30] Speaker 4: It's probably such a confusing thing because of exactly what
[41:34] Speaker 4: you're saying.
[41:34] Speaker 3: It ain't many to do it.
[41:37] Speaker 4: For everybody on the outside to realize that and it's
[41:40] Speaker 4: never really been seen before. I think that's why it's
[41:43] Speaker 4: such an uncommon thing where it's so hard to give
[41:48] Speaker 4: it its respect.
[41:49] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
[41:50] Speaker 5: You kind of second guess it.
[41:51] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just like, damn. And when you really think,
[41:54] Speaker 3: it's like, damn, that is great. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[41:56] Speaker 1: 38 averaging 27. And then you.
[42:00] Speaker 5: Start to question whether they're doing it legally. That's because
[42:03] Speaker 5: it's so far beyond what we can think.
[42:05] Speaker 3: Exactly.
[42:06] Speaker 5: He's got to be taking something. What is he doing
[42:08] Speaker 5: or what is he taking? What drug or juice, you
[42:11] Speaker 5: know what I'm saying?
[42:12] Speaker 3: Ain't enough Tylenol in the world, bro.
[42:15] Speaker 1: I can tell you. Listen, nobody from the 60s, 70s,
[42:18] Speaker 1: 80s 90s should question nothing legal.
[42:24] Speaker 3: Right? I mean, it's documented. It's documented. Right? They was
[42:30] Speaker 3: on that hard white.
[42:31] Speaker 1: You really think they was up there averaging 37 and
[42:33] Speaker 1: chucks and not on something?
[42:34] Speaker 3: On the hard white. That's pure. He's dumb. Let's be honest.
[42:38] Speaker 3: Come on. They had the worst shoes in here. It's like,
[42:46] Speaker 3: if we went out in chucks right now, we're done. Man,
[42:49] Speaker 3: it hurt to wear them with jeans. They averaging 37 just....
[42:55] Speaker 1: Finger rolling from the frito line. You'd really think that
[42:57] Speaker 1: was just water. So I'm saying, like, it's... History is history.
[43:07] Speaker 3: Obviously, players are going to understand how to, you know,
[43:10] Speaker 3: and I think, like, one of the earlier.
[43:12] Speaker 1: examples was Kareem, right? You know, playing until his early ages, right?
[43:17] Speaker 1: Talking about yoga helped him.
[43:19] Speaker 3: And you know, these guys now are really adopting that.
[43:21] Speaker 3: They're not heavy drinkers, right? They're not partying like, you know,
[43:25] Speaker 3: the past. Unfortunate. Right? Yeah.
[43:27] Speaker 1: I mean, you know, so they're, they're really, they're really
[43:30] Speaker 1: learning from before and they're saying, all right, he was
[43:34] Speaker 1: great for this long. What did he do to stop
[43:36] Speaker 1: his greatness? All right, let me add to that. Let
[43:38] Speaker 1: me see if I can. And that's all they're doing now.
[43:40] Speaker 1: So eventually there's going to be kids that's 45.
[43:44] Speaker 5: You think?
[43:44] Speaker 3: Still being dominant.
[43:45] Speaker 5: You think so?
[43:47] Speaker 3: How old is LeBron?
[43:49] Speaker 5: 42 this year coming up. I don't think we've seen
[43:51] Speaker 5: this again, bro. Especially with the money they're making right now.
[43:54] Speaker 5: I don't think they're going to.
[43:55] Speaker 3: We might start seeing some careers in early.
[43:58] Speaker 5: Like, you're going to be like, at 37.
[44:00] Speaker 3: 10 years, I'm out. That's because, I mean, that's because.
[44:03] Speaker 3: I made $ 600 million. I'm cool. I'm out. That's because
[44:05] Speaker 3: of the money.
[44:06] Speaker 1: But when you're talking about somebody chasing something.
[44:08] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[44:09] Speaker 5: You might have one or two guys, but I still
[44:10] Speaker 5: don't think we're going to see some in their 40s.
[44:12] Speaker 4: I don't think this will ever be a normal thing. Like,
[44:15] Speaker 4: it's going to always be a small group of guys. No,
[44:17] Speaker 4: we might get one or two later on.
[44:19] Speaker 1: They physically, the physical makeup has to match.
[44:23] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[44:23] Speaker 4: Just even finding somebody as disciplined as those three is
[44:26] Speaker 4: hard to find.
[44:27] Speaker 5: It's a lot of lifestyle.
[44:29] Speaker 4: You'll get guys that have sacrificed for five years, you know,
[44:31] Speaker 4: 10 years, 12 years. Some guys get their ring and it's,
[44:36] Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying? So I think you've got
[44:38] Speaker 4: to factor in all of that. And then it also
[44:41] Speaker 4: leans back on the discipline part. It's the reason those three,
[44:46] Speaker 4: those four guys are on that list. I think the
[44:48] Speaker 4: discipline outweighs everything that comes with it.
[44:52] Speaker 5: I don't think we've seen this again, bro.
[44:54] Speaker 3: Man, we seen Bron, man, bro.
[44:57] Speaker 5: The shit Bron do, just.
[45:00] Speaker 4: For prepper, man, dude is practicing probably twice before practice.
[45:06] Speaker 4: And then practicing again after practice. On top of that,
[45:10] Speaker 4: he gonna make it to every family event. He probably
[45:13] Speaker 4: got an appearance later.
[45:14] Speaker 3: Like, it's unreal. And this is every single day.
[45:20] Speaker 5: Too much sacrifice. For 20 years, I think, again, guys
[45:23] Speaker 5: might do it for 15. 20 to 22, like, Bron's
[45:26] Speaker 5: in year 24 coming up. I don't think we see
[45:29] Speaker 5: him this year.
[45:29] Speaker 4: Dudes struggle to sacrifice in college just to make it
[45:33] Speaker 4: to the NBA.
[45:35] Speaker 3: I can attest to that.
[45:36] Speaker 5: And I know how it's coming. And I was here now.
[45:38] Speaker 3: You feel me?
[45:39] Speaker 4: So 20 years professionally, being one of the highest paid
[45:43] Speaker 4: human beings, access to everything in the world.
[45:46] Speaker 3: That takes a different level of discipline.
[45:48] Speaker 2: All right, well, let's keep this thing moving. We talked
[45:51] Speaker 2: about the O-head. Let's talk about the YNs. if we can.
[45:55] Speaker 2: Thompson Twins made history last week as 23-year-old Amin and
[45:59] Speaker 2: Asar became the first brothers in NBA history to each
[46:03] Speaker 2: receive a $ 100 million deal. Rockets locked up Amin in
[46:07] Speaker 2: the beginning of September with a five-year, $ 208 million extension
[46:11] Speaker 2: that keeps him in Houston through 2032 and does not
[46:13] Speaker 2: include a player or team option, while the Pistons and
[46:16] Speaker 2: Asar agreed to a five-year, $ 155 million rookie-scale contract extension
[46:21] Speaker 2: this past Friday. They were the fourth and fifth picks
[46:24] Speaker 2: in the 2023 draft and joined Wimby and Keontae George
[46:27] Speaker 2: as the first four players from that class to Stein,
[46:30] Speaker 2: the rookie extension. So let's start with Amin. It's Amin, Amin, Amin, Amin, Amin, Amin.
[46:36] Speaker 3: I read. You kept saying Amen, you're throwing me off.
[46:39] Speaker 3: It's Amen. Amen. And after he signed that money, I
[46:42] Speaker 3: know he said, yeah, I know he do. This is
[46:45] Speaker 3: good to us. Let's start with Amin Thompson.
[46:49] Speaker 2: The last season, he averaged career highs at 18 points,
[46:51] Speaker 2: five assists, nearly two steals while leading the league in
[46:54] Speaker 2: minutes played. He was a 2025 first team all defensive selection,
[46:58] Speaker 2: already one of the league's most disruptive defenders and an
[47:01] Speaker 2: elite athlete, and matchup problem, but despite being a career 54% shooter,
[47:06] Speaker 2: his long-range game is currently broker than a smoker, with
[47:09] Speaker 2: teams constantly giving him wide-open threes, where he's a 22%
[47:13] Speaker 2: career shooter from beyond the arc. So, Danny, we'll start
[47:17] Speaker 2: with you. Best shooter on the couch right now. That
[47:20] Speaker 2: includes Gil. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
[47:22] Speaker 5: I appreciate the love.
[47:23] Speaker 3: Whoa. And Boogie.
[47:26] Speaker 2: Thoughts on the men? That's the baby. Five-year extension with
[47:29] Speaker 2: the Rockets.
[47:31] Speaker 5: Congrats, man. This is dope. They deserve it. They're very good.
[47:35] Speaker 5: A lot of potential. I think these young kids will
[47:38] Speaker 5: develop eventually. You know, Soar hadn't been able to have
[47:42] Speaker 5: the ball in his hand as much as Amin, so
[47:45] Speaker 5: he hasn't been able to showcase that as much. That
[47:48] Speaker 5: may change depending on what happens with Jalen Duren and
[47:51] Speaker 5: what Detroit got going on and the moves that they've made. But, yeah, Amin,
[47:56] Speaker 5: he's a very good asset to Houston, you know, The playoffs,
[48:00] Speaker 5: he played well even though KD was hurt. He showed
[48:02] Speaker 5: the loss to the Lakers they probably shouldn't have. But
[48:05] Speaker 5: I think he'll probably start off developing maybe that corner three.
[48:09] Speaker 5: But he's so good with the ball. He's able to
[48:11] Speaker 5: still give you some offense with the ball. He can
[48:13] Speaker 5: be a Draymond, start the offense, he'll be an athlete,
[48:15] Speaker 5: protect the rim, get steals, disrupt, DHO on offense, set screens,
[48:20] Speaker 5: be in the dunker area. He's athletic enough to play
[48:23] Speaker 5: all five positions and guard all five positions. You don't
[48:26] Speaker 5: see that in today's NBA often. So that's worth the money.
[48:29] Speaker 5: Both of them are worth the money. And, again, they
[48:32] Speaker 5: have the potential to be really great. And I compared
[48:36] Speaker 5: a lot of them, I think, to Iggy.
[48:38] Speaker 3: I see Sean Marion.
[48:42] Speaker 5: A little combination of both of them. But they can shoot.
[48:44] Speaker 5: Iggy would make big shots. He was capable enough to
[48:47] Speaker 5: knock down three. But Iggy was an athlete when he
[48:49] Speaker 5: first came in. I think they're even more explosive athletes. Unbelievable. So, yeah,
[48:55] Speaker 5: sky's the limit for these kids. I think they both
[48:57] Speaker 5: can be all-stars. And probably when it's all said and done,
[49:01] Speaker 5: we talked about brothers leading the league in contracts. They'd
[49:05] Speaker 5: probably be at the top of the list of brothers
[49:08] Speaker 5: to finish off the NBA with the highest earning contracts
[49:12] Speaker 5: of brothers that come through the league.
[49:14] Speaker 3: For sure.
[49:15] Speaker 2: Just looking at a man and what he's done in
[49:16] Speaker 2: the first three seasons, came in averaged 10 points per
[49:18] Speaker 2: game as a rookie, upped that up to 14 points
[49:21] Speaker 2: his second year, 18.3 points this past.
[49:25] Speaker 3: Year.
[49:26] Speaker 1: I mean, you know, because his game is so versatile,
[49:35] Speaker 1: it doesn't matter what he would have asked for.
[49:38] Speaker 3: A smart owner would have paid him. Right. Right. Because
[49:42] Speaker 3: I can put him at the point and he can dominate. Right.
[49:44] Speaker 3: He can just be a raw Westbrook style.
[49:47] Speaker 6: Right.
[49:48] Speaker 3: Right.
[49:48] Speaker 1: He can just be just go be Westbrook. Just try
[49:50] Speaker 1: to give me a triple double. And that's the type
[49:52] Speaker 1: of motor he has. But the fact that he can
[49:55] Speaker 1: really defensively take you out.
[49:58] Speaker 3: Right. It's he's still a one defender. Right. But offensively,
[50:03] Speaker 3: he's still trying to find out what he is, who
[50:06] Speaker 3: he is.
[50:07] Speaker 1: Right. I think he should go talk to Dwayne Wade,
[50:10] Speaker 1: ask him about, you know, like that bank shot he
[50:12] Speaker 1: came in with, you know, or he developed that one
[50:15] Speaker 1: that one summer came back. And that was that was
[50:18] Speaker 1: the jumper that he started with and then, you know, expanded.
[50:21] Speaker 1: But right now it's he's so raw. You don't want
[50:25] Speaker 1: to really it's like you don't want to overcoach him.
[50:31] Speaker 1: and try to say, hey, this is how I want
[50:32] Speaker 1: your game to be. Yeah, I just got to find
[50:36] Speaker 1: out what is your real first natural ability.
[50:39] Speaker 3: You have Iggy in you. You can be the point.
[50:42] Speaker 3: You can be the small forward.
[50:43] Speaker 1: There's just so much going on with him that it's like,
[50:47] Speaker 1: just keep.
[50:48] Speaker 3: Doing you until we figure this shit out. And he's
[50:52] Speaker 3: one of those players. So, I mean, if I was
[50:53] Speaker 3: the GM, I would have paid him every dollar, wouldn't
[50:56] Speaker 3: even have thought about it. Yeah.
[50:57] Speaker 4: I don't think there's anything to think about as far as,
[50:59] Speaker 4: you know, paying him. I think this is a kid
[51:01] Speaker 4: that's shown that he's ready now and obviously later on
[51:06] Speaker 4: in the future. But me personally, I think, you know,
[51:10] Speaker 4: the way they played him this year as far as
[51:12] Speaker 4: using him at point, I actually think it kind of
[51:16] Speaker 4: slowed down the development of the rest of his game.
[51:20] Speaker 4: I think he kind of got put into a position
[51:22] Speaker 4: to where it kind of boxed him in because obviously
[51:25] Speaker 4: if you– this young guy playing out of position and
[51:27] Speaker 4: we're putting you at point.
[51:29] Speaker 3: Now your main priority is we're going.
[51:31] Speaker 4: To get this ball to Kevin Durant, we're going to
[51:33] Speaker 4: get it to Jabari or whoever else is on those
[51:36] Speaker 4: wing positions. So I think a guy like Fred Van
[51:38] Speaker 4: Fleet coming back and you kind of move him to
[51:41] Speaker 4: that natural wing forward position, I think we see his
[51:45] Speaker 4: game go to a whole other level. And I mentioned
[51:47] Speaker 4: a guy like Sean Marion. I think that at worst
[51:51] Speaker 4: could be him once he develops that consistent jump shot. So, uh,
[51:54] Speaker 4: just a freak athlete. Obviously you can play them all
[51:57] Speaker 4: over the floor. I would like to see him kind
[52:00] Speaker 4: of remain in the league guard role, but more limited.
[52:03] Speaker 4: I don't want that to be full time. I don't
[52:05] Speaker 4: want that to be his job full time. I think
[52:07] Speaker 4: once he's able to do a little bit of this,
[52:09] Speaker 4: a little bit of that, run the wings, be a slasher,
[52:12] Speaker 4: be a corner shooter. I think that's what we see
[52:14] Speaker 4: the whole, the whole package of his game. So, uh,
[52:18] Speaker 4: You know, I think his future is bright. I think
[52:21] Speaker 4: it's a no-brainer to pay the kid. But as far
[52:23] Speaker 4: as his development, I think there's still two, three more
[52:26] Speaker 4: levels he can get to as far as being a
[52:29] Speaker 4: finished product in this league.
[52:30] Speaker 3: Like, he needs plays. Absolutely.
[52:33] Speaker 1: Like, you know, like a five-out offense hurts him because
[52:39] Speaker 1: if you look at, like, what he's gifted at, right, slashing, diving, right,
[52:43] Speaker 1: he's just physically– Better than damn near everybody in the league.
[52:49] Speaker 1: So sitting him in the corner is hurting everything. Now,
[52:52] Speaker 1: if you zippered him up, slashed him, zippered him down,
[52:56] Speaker 1: had him come off the AI.
[52:57] Speaker 3: Let him get that Paul Pierce cut. Yeah, the Paul
[52:59] Speaker 3: Pierce cut.
[53:00] Speaker 1: That AI, you overplaying it, hit the power.
[53:04] Speaker 3: Forward, go back door, this motherfucker.
[53:06] Speaker 1: There's just so many things you can do that there's
[53:09] Speaker 1: no defense that will stop it.
[53:11] Speaker 3: Exactly.
[53:13] Speaker 1: Putting him on after half court, go to his side,
[53:15] Speaker 1: come on screen down, zipper up, turn that corner.
[53:18] Speaker 3: What's up? Compared to just bringing.
[53:21] Speaker 4: The ball down, kicking it to the wing, and then
[53:23] Speaker 4: going spotlight. Like I said, I do think that stopped
[53:27] Speaker 4: his development a bit. He had a better year. And obviously,
[53:30] Speaker 4: he's showing that he can be a great player. Because
[53:32] Speaker 4: every year, if you improve every year, you're.
[53:35] Speaker 3: Doing your job as a player. So he's doing that. Yeah.
[53:38] Speaker 4: Like you said, everything you just named, man, this dude
[53:41] Speaker 4: can be incredible, man.
[53:43] Speaker 5: When they're healthy, Houston's going to be good. Like Fred
[53:45] Speaker 5: coming back, he's still like a little bit, a couple
[53:48] Speaker 5: weeks away. They get Steven Adams back. But the development
[53:52] Speaker 5: of Reed Shepard last year and this year, I think
[53:54] Speaker 5: he makes jumps. With Fred back, I think their team
[53:57] Speaker 5: will be, and it'll open up even more for him.
[54:02] Speaker 4: And the young guys all got better, hopefully.
[54:04] Speaker 1: I think Sangoon is the one that's kind of like.
[54:08] Speaker 3: He's iffy to me as well. He has to make
[54:12] Speaker 3: the jump.
[54:13] Speaker 1: There has to be a big jump in his game
[54:15] Speaker 1: because right now, you're no different than Asar and them.
[54:20] Speaker 3: You have this weird.
[54:22] Speaker 1: Offensive game that actually has to eventually get to the paint.
[54:26] Speaker 3: Right? You're going to be, you're sitting, like, you know
[54:28] Speaker 3: what I mean?
[54:29] Speaker 1: So it's like one of these games you're not playing
[54:31] Speaker 1: in or out and you're not very good at the out.
[54:33] Speaker 1: So why the fuck are you out there to grab
[54:35] Speaker 1: the ball so you can do the sloppy man?
[54:37] Speaker 4: I think they played through him a little bit too much.
[54:40] Speaker 4: I think of him as more of like a Luis Scola.
[54:43] Speaker 3: Yeah. You know what I mean? Not really that athletic.
[54:47] Speaker 3: He got game. Luis Scola was good. He got game, but.
[54:50] Speaker 4: To depend on him the whole game to create offense is.
[54:54] Speaker 1: But it's like, why are you giving the ball to
[54:57] Speaker 1: him at the hash mark?
[54:59] Speaker 3: To then drop.
[55:01] Speaker 1: You know he has to get down there. It's not
[55:03] Speaker 1: like he can pop.
[55:04] Speaker 3: He's not Jokic. He can't shoot the three.
[55:05] Speaker 5: Well, that's what the expectation was. That's why they put
[55:07] Speaker 5: so much pressure on him to beat. Are they comparing
[55:10] Speaker 5: him to Jokic?
[55:11] Speaker 4: I think he, as much as people wanted to blame
[55:14] Speaker 4: Kevin Durant for the, you know, the so-called bad season
[55:17] Speaker 4: Houston had, I'd put more blame on the young fella.
[55:21] Speaker 5: It's a combination, but yeah, the young fella was supposed
[55:22] Speaker 5: to be that guy. Like, not just an all, like,
[55:25] Speaker 5: just make the all-star team. He was supposed to be
[55:27] Speaker 5: a dominant.
[55:27] Speaker 3: Absolutely.
[55:28] Speaker 5: And like, And he wasn't done.
[55:29] Speaker 4: Especially in the era of, like, all this damn switching.
[55:32] Speaker 4: You got fucking point guards guarding you. Like, I'm not
[55:35] Speaker 4: getting much of nothing.
[55:36] Speaker 5: The biggest area is the defensive side. He has to
[55:39] Speaker 5: be better defensively.
[55:40] Speaker 3: I mean, but Jokic has shown that's a bit overrated
[55:42] Speaker 3: as well.
[55:43] Speaker 5: But he's got more ability.
[55:44] Speaker 4: He's went and got a chip without a defensive center.
[55:47] Speaker 4: The way they like to, you know, label centers in
[55:49] Speaker 4: his league, I think Jokic showed that it can be
[55:53] Speaker 4: done otherwise.
[55:54] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[55:54] Speaker 2: So, When you look at it, obviously, $ 208 million, that's
[56:00] Speaker 2: a huge commitment. Essentially superstar money for what the expectation
[56:03] Speaker 2: is for what they want.
[56:04] Speaker 5: It looks like it right now, but in two or
[56:05] Speaker 5: three years, it's not going to look like superstar money.
[56:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not. It's pay him now. Yeah. Before he
[56:12] Speaker 3: turns into what his numbers are saying. Yeah. Right? You
[56:15] Speaker 3: know what I mean?
[56:16] Speaker 1: Like, his numbers are saying that, oh, shit, he's about
[56:19] Speaker 1: to take a leap and, you know, let's get him
[56:21] Speaker 1: right now.
[56:21] Speaker 2: And we're going to talk Rockets more extensively tomorrow. But
[56:23] Speaker 2: when you talk about a man, Thompson, you talk about Shang-Goon.
[56:26] Speaker 2: Shang-Goon's only like six months older than him. Shang-Goon's entering
[56:29] Speaker 2: his sixth season. They're entering their fourth. So, just a
[56:32] Speaker 2: little grace.
[56:32] Speaker 3: Oh, are they that close? Yeah, a little grace. No,
[56:35] Speaker 3: they're close in game. What? They're that close in game.
[56:39] Speaker 3: One that's been in six years.
[56:40] Speaker 5: Six years.
[56:41] Speaker 3: There'll be a sixth season coming up, yeah. There's been
[56:42] Speaker 3: six seasons? And you haven't... It's six seasons. Back-to-back All-Star offices?
[56:47] Speaker 3: And this is why when I look at greats and
[56:51] Speaker 3: I'm in a league where I watch how people play
[56:55] Speaker 3: Dwyane Wade.
[56:56] Speaker 1: And I've seen that, okay, he came back with a jumper.
[56:58] Speaker 1: Then he came back with the pump fake. You've seen
[57:00] Speaker 1: that he expanded to open up.
[57:02] Speaker 3: More of his game. I've seen right-handers, right, that had
[57:06] Speaker 3: to develop. They left. In two, three years, now you
[57:09] Speaker 3: push them to their weekend. Now they have that game.
[57:12] Speaker 3: They opened up their game.
[57:13] Speaker 1: I came in with Jason Richardson, who couldn't shoot a lick,
[57:16] Speaker 1: who sat on a machine shooting thousands of shots to
[57:19] Speaker 1: then become a three-point threat.
[57:22] Speaker 3: Right? So the fact that this is your sixth year
[57:25] Speaker 3: And you're saying.
[57:26] Speaker 1: You don't have a mid-range, you don't have a go-to
[57:30] Speaker 1: move that you're comfortable with. You're still stuck in between.
[57:35] Speaker 1: When you're at the free throw line, you don't know
[57:37] Speaker 1: if you want to take this shot or do a floater.
[57:41] Speaker 5: When you're in.
[57:41] Speaker 3: That area, you got to go all the way back
[57:43] Speaker 3: to the basket still.
[57:45] Speaker 1: So when Draymond Green is like, shoot it, and you
[57:47] Speaker 1: sit here... Going and, okay, you're going to spin that.
[57:50] Speaker 1: But even Draymond figured it out.
[57:52] Speaker 4: Because that was something that kind of held him back
[57:54] Speaker 4: at an earlier point in his career. He started creating
[57:56] Speaker 4: the dribble handoffs. He started creating the lobs for the
[57:59] Speaker 4: opposite big. But that still all goes to what you're saying.
[58:03] Speaker 5: Draymond's a great defender, but he should be, at this
[58:05] Speaker 5: point in his career, Draymond should not be able to
[58:07] Speaker 5: guard him.
[58:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, he should be. You should be.
[58:09] Speaker 5: Draymond's, you know, he's playing the mind games with him.
[58:12] Speaker 5: It's like giving him fits. That should not be the
[58:13] Speaker 5: case at Draymond's age at this point in his career.
[58:16] Speaker 3: I get it.
[58:16] Speaker 2: But still, Shango's still only 24 years. Average 20 points,
[58:18] Speaker 2: 9 rebounds, 6 assists last year.
[58:20] Speaker 1: So he's been a pro. But what I'm saying is,
[58:24] Speaker 1: you're talking about this is six years. So what I'm
[58:28] Speaker 1: saying is, when the summer hits, and you couldn't shoot
[58:32] Speaker 1: a mid-range in year one, then it was a year
[58:35] Speaker 1: two summer.
[58:36] Speaker 3: Then it was a year three summer, year four summer,
[58:39] Speaker 3: year five.
[58:40] Speaker 1: What are you doing in the summer to enhance your
[58:44] Speaker 1: game going into the next season?
[58:47] Speaker 4: Well, to his defense, do you also feel like the–
[58:50] Speaker 4: because originally this group was just a young group of
[58:53] Speaker 4: guys all developing.
[58:55] Speaker 3: Do you think.
[58:57] Speaker 4: That the expectations of a Kevin Durant coming in and
[59:00] Speaker 4: now this is– well, we're a championship team now. Does
[59:04] Speaker 4: that play a part in his development at the same
[59:06] Speaker 4: time as far as now we need you to hurry
[59:09] Speaker 4: up and become better?
[59:11] Speaker 3: Is that fair to him?
[59:12] Speaker 5: Six seasons.
[59:16] Speaker 3: Five. He came in the league at 19 years old, though,
[59:18] Speaker 3: so I'm just like.
[59:19] Speaker 5: So, yeah, so there was some years where he had time,
[59:21] Speaker 5: like what you're saying, is he had years to groom.
[59:23] Speaker 5: Right now, it's like, no, we can't. This is not
[59:24] Speaker 5: those years where you're grooming and developing. Like, we got
[59:26] Speaker 5: to play winning basketball now. You got to sacrifice... some
[59:30] Speaker 5: things that may have taken a hit to his development.
[59:33] Speaker 5: But again, he has off-season, he has summer, he has practice.
[59:37] Speaker 1: What did he sacrifice? Shooting jumpers in the summer? I'm
[59:39] Speaker 1: just trying to figure out what he sacrificed.
[59:41] Speaker 4: I mean, sacrificing his individual game as far as.
[59:44] Speaker 5: When they were terrible, they were just going right.
[59:45] Speaker 3: To him all the time. Yeah, when you're terrible, you
[59:47] Speaker 3: can just develop at your own speed. Like, it happens
[59:50] Speaker 3: when it happens. You know what I'm saying? A guy
[59:52] Speaker 3: like Kevin Durant coming in now, it's like, it's championship
[59:54] Speaker 3: or bust.
[59:55] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[59:56] Speaker 4: Kevin Durant is 37 years old. We gotta maximize this window.
[1:00:00] Speaker 4: So we need you, young fella, to speed up this development.
[1:00:04] Speaker 3: Hey, fuck learning how to tween, tween, cross. We need
[1:00:08] Speaker 3: you to hit the midi, hit the three.
[1:00:10] Speaker 4: You're gonna have to put that shit aside for the
[1:00:12] Speaker 4: development of.
[1:00:13] Speaker 3: The core, the core group now.
[1:00:15] Speaker 5: This is season six coming up, so we'll see you
[1:00:17] Speaker 5: this season if he made the jump.
[1:00:18] Speaker 3: I think after this season, we'll see a change. Kawhi
[1:00:21] Speaker 3: couldn't shoot when he first came in, right? Yes. Because
[1:00:26] Speaker 3: he has a pure jumper.
[1:00:27] Speaker 5: How long did it take him? Three, two, three seasons.
[1:00:31] Speaker 5: By year three, he was drafted with 11, 12? So, yeah,
[1:00:36] Speaker 5: probably year three.
[1:00:37] Speaker 3: He's still developing.
[1:00:38] Speaker 4: In that culture. It was always championship above. I'm just saying.
[1:00:43] Speaker 4: It's still a different.
[1:00:44] Speaker 5: Sir, guys, I get what you're saying. If you're a star,
[1:00:46] Speaker 5: usually they develop and those all-stars start happening year four, five,
[1:00:49] Speaker 5: and six, and you become that dominant. Those are your
[1:00:51] Speaker 5: prime years.
[1:00:52] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:00:52] Speaker 5: From year five through 11, I guess.
[1:00:55] Speaker 3: But you are right. He should be developed. Like a jumper. Yeah.
[1:00:58] Speaker 2: But that brings me back to a man on that side,
[1:01:00] Speaker 2: and that's been the big knock on him. Like I said,
[1:01:01] Speaker 2: like a 53% shooter from the field.
[1:01:03] Speaker 1: But that makes sense for him because even if he
[1:01:05] Speaker 1: started from the beginning... it is not gonna turn over.
[1:01:08] Speaker 1: Like we're talking about hundreds of thousands of shots, right?
[1:01:14] Speaker 1: But you have to be disciplined to it. Like if
[1:01:16] Speaker 1: I can't shoot and I'm going into the summer, like
[1:01:19] Speaker 1: if I jump, these two are athletes, I know you
[1:01:23] Speaker 1: don't need to work on your jumping ability no more. Right.
[1:01:26] Speaker 1: You don't need to work on that. We're going to
[1:01:27] Speaker 1: sit here. We're going to get on this. We're going
[1:01:29] Speaker 1: to first get the basics of it. Shooting this joint.
[1:01:32] Speaker 3: Let's get comfortable shooting.
[1:01:34] Speaker 5: This is year three for them coming?
[1:01:35] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:01:35] Speaker 1: I believe you're going forward. Shoot this jumper first. Let's
[1:01:38] Speaker 1: shoot thousands of shots a day. Then we're going to
[1:01:40] Speaker 1: put it on the ground.
[1:01:41] Speaker 3: Let's shoot thousands of shots. And I got all summer.
[1:01:43] Speaker 3: That's year one.
[1:01:45] Speaker 1: We'll see if it translates into the season. Your percentage
[1:01:48] Speaker 1: might not go up. but we put the work in.
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: Year two, same thing.
[1:01:53] Speaker 1: By the time year four comes in, that is an
[1:01:56] Speaker 1: actual jump shot of yours.
[1:01:58] Speaker 3: That's yours.
[1:02:00] Speaker 2: How hard is it to develop a consistent long-range jump
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: shot in the league once you're already in the league?
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: I think that's been the struggle we talk about A
[1:02:06] Speaker 2: man's 22% from three.
[1:02:08] Speaker 3: Not easy.
[1:02:08] Speaker 5: I'll say it. And people got to understand, not everybody
[1:02:11] Speaker 5: can just have that tut. Like, some people can.
[1:02:12] Speaker 3: Work on it. It's hard.
[1:02:13] Speaker 1: It is. It's easier for us because we learned from
[1:02:17] Speaker 1: a younger age shooting. So, all that bad shooting, by
[1:02:21] Speaker 1: the time we got to our high school and we
[1:02:24] Speaker 1: were already, okay, we can do this.
[1:02:26] Speaker 3: This is theirs. This is theirs. I just feel like
[1:02:30] Speaker 3: when it comes to getting better at anything, it's all reps.
[1:02:33] Speaker 5: For sure.
[1:02:34] Speaker 3: Like, It's just reps and muscle memory. That's it.
[1:02:38] Speaker 4: So I feel like whatever you put in is what
[1:02:40] Speaker 4: you're going to get out of it. So the guys that,
[1:02:43] Speaker 4: I mean, I played with Rondo early on in his career,
[1:02:47] Speaker 4: and we were lucky enough to be teammates at the end.
[1:02:51] Speaker 4: It's two different players. And this was even later in
[1:02:53] Speaker 4: his career to where he became a guy that could
[1:02:56] Speaker 4: knock down that shot. And I watched him put the
[1:02:59] Speaker 4: reps in over and over. So for a guy to
[1:03:02] Speaker 4: ever sit here and say it's hard to develop a
[1:03:04] Speaker 4: jump shot, it's just hard for me to agree with that.
[1:03:07] Speaker 5: I think you can get better at it, but some
[1:03:08] Speaker 5: guys are just not going to be great shooters.
[1:03:10] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
[1:03:11] Speaker 5: You just can't teach certain touches.
[1:03:12] Speaker 4: Well, I'm not expecting the twins to become Reggie Miller
[1:03:16] Speaker 4: or even you. But you can become, like I said,
[1:03:19] Speaker 4: a Sean Marion. You can become a Karolinko, like 33%
[1:03:22] Speaker 4: to 35% range. That's what I'm saying. I'm looking at it. Listen,
[1:03:26] Speaker 4: if Dwight Howard.
[1:03:27] Speaker 3: Dwight. Drummond's shooting.
[1:03:29] Speaker 1: As a guard, you should be offended.
[1:03:32] Speaker 3: Exactly. Exactly, bro. Wait a minute. Drummond was a non-shooter.
[1:03:36] Speaker 4: He's now knocking down corner threes, and it still goes
[1:03:39] Speaker 4: back to the refs.
[1:03:40] Speaker 3: That's it.
[1:03:41] Speaker 5: You know what's so funny?
[1:03:44] Speaker 1: Believe it or not, and we've had teammates, some players
[1:03:50] Speaker 1: just don't know how to work out.
[1:03:52] Speaker 3: I agree with that. Or get better.
[1:03:54] Speaker 1: Skill developing is very different from working out. We can
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: go work out for two hours.
[1:03:58] Speaker 3: We took three jumpers here before we moved. We do that.
[1:04:02] Speaker 1: We got two hours worth of work. Then get better
[1:04:04] Speaker 1: for shit. That does not get you better. When you're
[1:04:07] Speaker 1: sitting there doing repetition shots over and over and over.
[1:04:11] Speaker 1: And then once I've done took a two, two, 300,
[1:04:14] Speaker 1: I got to see if this shit actually works in
[1:04:16] Speaker 1: the game. I got to have a defender there. All right,
[1:04:18] Speaker 1: come on, put your hand up. And I got to
[1:04:19] Speaker 1: see if I can shoot, shoot it with deep defense.
[1:04:22] Speaker 1: Like all of that actually matters. And sometimes it's just,
[1:04:25] Speaker 1: I'm just going out here. These trainers is training me
[1:04:27] Speaker 1: with 16 other people.
[1:04:29] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:04:29] Speaker 1: And we over there all going, doing the same thing,
[1:04:32] Speaker 1: just trying to make art, make 20 as a group.
[1:04:34] Speaker 3: And I technically only made two. You know what I mean? Like,
[1:04:38] Speaker 3: I made two. Like, I've been in workouts like that.
[1:04:41] Speaker 1: When you sit there, when you sit there, I go
[1:04:43] Speaker 1: to 21, and there's a bunch of shooters in there,
[1:04:44] Speaker 1: and you made two.
[1:04:46] Speaker 3: Right. Now let's move to the next one. Are you
[1:04:48] Speaker 3: at least counting loud on the makes good? Hell yeah,
[1:04:50] Speaker 3: I'm counting. Two.
[1:04:52] Speaker 5: Shit.
[1:04:52] Speaker 3: Fuck. Damn. Communal. Shit. We done made all of ours.
[1:04:58] Speaker 3: Now we moved on to the next spot. Then I
[1:05:00] Speaker 3: only made three there.
[1:05:02] Speaker 1: Now we done finished the workout three hours.
[1:05:04] Speaker 3: I made 25 shots. Do you think guys... Do you think.
[1:05:08] Speaker 4: Guys, especially younger guys, embrace their weaknesses in their game?
[1:05:14] Speaker 5: Not as much anymore.
[1:05:15] Speaker 3: I think that's part of the problem as well.
[1:05:16] Speaker 4: Like, you know, guys get away with certain shit so
[1:05:19] Speaker 4: long in their career.
[1:05:21] Speaker 3: That they feel like, I don't need that shit. You
[1:05:22] Speaker 3: know what I'm saying?
[1:05:23] Speaker 4: Or in their mind, they're better at it than they
[1:05:25] Speaker 4: actually are. And I think that's something that, you know,
[1:05:30] Speaker 4: I guess you... support me in that statement, but I
[1:05:33] Speaker 4: think that's something that guys have gotten away from as
[1:05:35] Speaker 4: far as developing their game. You gotta be able to
[1:05:37] Speaker 4: admit your weakness. If you know you can't go left, motherfucker, like,
[1:05:41] Speaker 4: it's okay.
[1:05:42] Speaker 3: It's okay.
[1:05:43] Speaker 4: Like, admit it, work on it. Like, get better at it.
[1:05:46] Speaker 4: But it's some guys that have convinced themselves, like, nah,
[1:05:49] Speaker 4: that ain't true.
[1:05:50] Speaker 3: Success doesn't. Success doesn't.
[1:05:53] Speaker 1: Like, remember, we're haters if we say, hey, you need
[1:05:58] Speaker 1: a post-up move. Hey, if you got a post-up move
[1:06:02] Speaker 1: with what you already have, who is guarding you?
[1:06:06] Speaker 3: Right?
[1:06:07] Speaker 1: But a championship, MVP, average in 30, that tells the
[1:06:12] Speaker 1: person who's talking to you to shut.
[1:06:14] Speaker 3: The fuck up because they don't have it. Right. Right?
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: And so when you, if you're not in tuned with
[1:06:21] Speaker 1: your greatness... And you don't see the greatness of the
[1:06:25] Speaker 1: rest of them. Fuck what we're talking about. We see
[1:06:27] Speaker 1: it because if you don't understand how they got better,
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: they looked at their weakness.
[1:06:33] Speaker 3: Remember, they said Michael Jordan couldn't go left.
[1:06:35] Speaker 1: We're beating them up going left. Today, the Jordan fans
[1:06:39] Speaker 1: is arguing, he went left.
[1:06:42] Speaker 3: Yes. He wasn't going left before and it was fucking
[1:06:47] Speaker 3: him up. So he said, I need to work on
[1:06:48] Speaker 3: this left hand.
[1:06:49] Speaker 1: Now, when they pushed him in 91 and he's going
[1:06:52] Speaker 1: to sit there doing this shit like, oh, now we're
[1:06:54] Speaker 1: in trouble.
[1:06:55] Speaker 3: Right. So you're seeing the progression of your argument.
[1:06:59] Speaker 1: Sometimes there's so much success in what we do that
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: when you when you tell us a weakness.
[1:07:09] Speaker 3: It comes off as hate. How dare you? You don't
[1:07:13] Speaker 3: have what I have. I'm just saying if you want
[1:07:16] Speaker 3: to be God. That made me think.
[1:07:20] Speaker 4: About a guy like, not to throw him under the bus,
[1:07:23] Speaker 4: I'm happy he's back in the L.
[1:07:25] Speaker 3: You think of Ben Simmons. I knew where you were going.
[1:07:28] Speaker 4: I feel like when he was going through his heat
[1:07:31] Speaker 4: about shooting jumpers and all of those things like that,
[1:07:35] Speaker 4: I don't think he just accepted the fact like, damn,
[1:07:37] Speaker 4: I do need to work on this jumper. Or, you know,
[1:07:40] Speaker 4: maybe I did pass up a couple shots that could
[1:07:42] Speaker 4: have won games for us. And I think he fought
[1:07:44] Speaker 4: with that narrative so much to the point where it
[1:07:47] Speaker 4: was just a huge disconnect in general. Disconnected him from
[1:07:51] Speaker 4: his game. Disconnected him from the team. Like, the fan base, everything.
[1:07:55] Speaker 5: The point that I wanted to make, a lot of
[1:07:56] Speaker 5: it is mostly mental for a lot of guys.
[1:07:59] Speaker 3: It is mental.
[1:08:00] Speaker 5: I mean, people will say, when you see the highlights
[1:08:01] Speaker 5: of Ben in the offseason, like, he gets this every time. Like,
[1:08:06] Speaker 5: you have the confidence to do it in pickup. But
[1:08:08] Speaker 5: if you get the repetition, it comes down to you
[1:08:11] Speaker 5: build that confidence to do it in the game. If
[1:08:13] Speaker 5: you do enough reps in, that's what it comes down to, really.
[1:08:16] Speaker 5: So the guys that actually get the reps up, they
[1:08:17] Speaker 5: get the confidence. Because a lot of guys are hoopers.
[1:08:19] Speaker 3: You get the confidence through the reps, though. Exactly. Yes.
[1:08:21] Speaker 3: You can't lie to you. Confidence comes through the reps.
[1:08:24] Speaker 5: You can't cheat it. So you've got to get the
[1:08:25] Speaker 5: reps in. So there's a lot of guys that are
[1:08:27] Speaker 5: capable of making free throws. A lot of guys are
[1:08:28] Speaker 5: capable of making mid-range when nobody's looking.
[1:08:31] Speaker 3: Can't do it in front of 30,000.
[1:08:33] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:08:34] Speaker 5: So that's where it comes in. Ben, that's pretty much
[1:08:36] Speaker 5: the biggest thing for him. It's been a mental thing.
[1:08:37] Speaker 5: We've seen him in offseason. People are like, I can't
[1:08:40] Speaker 5: wait for Ben to come back. Just like you see
[1:08:41] Speaker 5: Joel come back skinny. You see Ben in offseason shooting jumpers,
[1:08:43] Speaker 5: knocking down mid-range with threes. He won't take them.
[1:08:47] Speaker 4: But I also think it becomes that mental thing when
[1:08:53] Speaker 4: that person can't look at himself in the mirror and
[1:08:54] Speaker 4: be like, you know what?
[1:08:56] Speaker 3: They right. Damn, I do need to work on that.
[1:08:59] Speaker 3: The delusion, right?
[1:09:00] Speaker 2: Alright, well now let's shift over. So we talked about
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: a man. Let's shift over to Asar. It was an
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: instrumental part of the Pistons' historic turnaround last season. First team,
[1:09:09] Speaker 2: all defensive selection finished third in defensive player of the
[1:09:12] Speaker 2: year voting, averaging 10.6 rebounds, three assists in a league,
[1:09:16] Speaker 2: leading two steals per game.
[1:09:19] Speaker 3: So, Boogie, we'll start with you.
[1:09:20] Speaker 2: What's your reaction to Asari Thompson agreeing to a five-year
[1:09:22] Speaker 2: extension with the Pistons' $ 155 million coming this month?
[1:09:25] Speaker 4: I mean, great for him as well. I mean, he's
[1:09:28] Speaker 4: pretty similar to his brother. Obviously, two different roles. But
[1:09:32] Speaker 4: I think it's great for him. I think he played
[1:09:33] Speaker 4: a huge part in that Detroit team being the number
[1:09:36] Speaker 4: one seed in the East. Obviously, they got a lot
[1:09:41] Speaker 4: of things to figure out with their team after a
[1:09:44] Speaker 4: successful year. So we may see him step into a
[1:09:47] Speaker 4: new role this year, depending on what happens with Jalen Dern.
[1:09:51] Speaker 4: So I'm not mad at Detroit. I think they made
[1:09:55] Speaker 4: the right decision. I think this is a no-brainer as
[1:09:58] Speaker 4: far as signing both of them. They have so much potential.
[1:10:01] Speaker 4: They got so much more to add to their games.
[1:10:03] Speaker 3: They're good kids. They work hard.
[1:10:05] Speaker 4: Everything you want in a young prospect. So Detroit did
[1:10:09] Speaker 4: the right thing.
[1:10:12] Speaker 1: Same thing with him, right? You know, you're watching him
[1:10:15] Speaker 1: in practice. You can see his attributes, even though we're
[1:10:22] Speaker 1: not using everything that he has. I can pay for
[1:10:28] Speaker 1: someone who works hard, right? Who comes in, he's going
[1:10:32] Speaker 1: to play hard, he's going to work hard, right?
[1:10:35] Speaker 3: He's coachable, right? right? He's young. He's willing to get better.
[1:10:38] Speaker 3: I can overpay for that.
[1:10:42] Speaker 1: Even if I haven't seen it right now, I know,
[1:10:45] Speaker 1: you know what? He's not going to quit on me.
[1:10:47] Speaker 1: This is not a lottery ticket for him.
[1:10:49] Speaker 3: He wants to be great, so I'm going to pay
[1:10:52] Speaker 3: him his money. You think that's an overpay? You're talking about, what,
[1:10:55] Speaker 3: $ 31 million a year?
[1:10:56] Speaker 5: To that point, I think when guys get paid, that's
[1:10:58] Speaker 5: when you see what kind of true competitor they are,
[1:11:01] Speaker 5: what kind of basketball player they're going to be, the character, right?
[1:11:04] Speaker 5: Are they going to continue to work? And even though
[1:11:06] Speaker 5: they got paid, I think these kids are going to
[1:11:08] Speaker 5: be those type of guys that are still going to
[1:11:09] Speaker 5: work and be third defensive player of the year. This
[1:11:14] Speaker 5: is a pretty good, this is a cheap deal for him.
[1:11:16] Speaker 2: I mean, Thompson finished eighth, didn't make an all-defensive team
[1:11:19] Speaker 2: last season, but finished eighth defensive player of the year,
[1:11:20] Speaker 2: a sore third defensive player.
[1:11:22] Speaker 3: But these guys have been working their whole life. It's great.
[1:11:24] Speaker 5: It's another prove it. These next couple of years, as
[1:11:27] Speaker 5: we go on to year four, five, and six, prove
[1:11:29] Speaker 5: it years. They're going to show, I think he's going
[1:11:32] Speaker 5: to take it personally, of how they guarded him in
[1:11:34] Speaker 5: the playoffs when he was in Detroit. Now he's like,
[1:11:36] Speaker 5: all right, I got to get back to, I got
[1:11:37] Speaker 5: to at least get a mid-range or be a threat
[1:11:39] Speaker 5: from the corner three to be consistent. Same with, I'm in.
[1:11:43] Speaker 5: So if we see this year they take that step,
[1:11:46] Speaker 5: these deals are very cheap.
[1:11:47] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:11:48] Speaker 2: Neither one of them strikes me as a type of,
[1:11:49] Speaker 2: I got my bag now.
[1:11:50] Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm cool. No, they seem like they're like, no,
[1:11:53] Speaker 5: we want more.
[1:11:55] Speaker 2: Got my bag, I'm about to do a thousand calf
[1:11:56] Speaker 2: raises real quick.
[1:11:59] Speaker 1: No, I mean, I appreciate the market like standing ten
[1:12:03] Speaker 1: toes down on.
[1:12:06] Speaker 3: offense gets paid more. I'm just going to be honest.
[1:12:13] Speaker 3: One do have 10-0-8.
[1:12:14] Speaker 1: I mean a 2-0-8 because that offense is putting in
