[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome back to Gills Arena, presented by Poly Market and
[0:02] Speaker 1: powered by PlayMaker.
[0:03] Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa! We back up in here.
[0:08] Speaker 1: I'm merely a host, Josiah Johnson, here with NBA and
[0:12] Speaker 1: 2K legend, none other than Gilbert Arenas.
[0:15] Speaker 2: What's up?
[0:20] Speaker 1: We're once again joined by NBA champion of the world
[0:22] Speaker 1: and purveyor of the tallest tails network on YouTube, Brendan Haywood.
[0:27] Speaker 2: Let's go, baby. Let's go, baby.
[0:31] Speaker 1: We also got NBA champion of the world, and when
[0:33] Speaker 1: he's not here, you can catch him on his Shump
[0:35] Speaker 1: Street podcast.
[0:36] Speaker 2: Iman Shumpert, back in the building with us. Appreciate y'all, man.
[0:40] Speaker 1: Joining us again, former college player of the year, number
[0:43] Speaker 1: two overall pick, who played 10 seasons in the league.
[0:45] Speaker 2: Give it up for Evan Turner. And.
[0:51] Speaker 1: we got another special guest making his first appearance in
[0:54] Speaker 1: the arena as a member of our cast.
[0:57] Speaker 2: One of the most unstoppable and skilled offensive centers of
[1:00] Speaker 2: his era, a four-time NBA All-Star, a two-time gold medal winner,
[1:06] Speaker 2: the man we know as Big Cuz, Demarcus Boogie Cousins. Yeah!
[1:14] Speaker 3: Boogie in the building!
[1:20] Speaker 2: Yeah! Yes, sir! The beat, dawg. What up, baby? Y'all,
[1:27] Speaker 2: what up, baby? Oh, yeah, yeah, you got to catch
[1:30] Speaker 2: the rhythm, bud. Come on, man, open up the barbershop.
[1:32] Speaker 2: Hold on, what's that? Hold up, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Okay,
[1:37] Speaker 2: you can go now. Yeah! I know they do. Yeah! Well,
[1:46] Speaker 2: he done opened up a barbershop. Oh, yeah.
[1:50] Speaker 1: What's going on with you, Boogie? Appreciate you being on
[1:52] Speaker 1: the show. We had you on before as a guest,
[1:54] Speaker 1: but now you a part of the cast.
[1:57] Speaker 2: Happy to have you here.
[1:58] Speaker 1: Where you get all this money to get all these
[2:00] Speaker 1: people on the show? Because my checks are a little late.
[2:03] Speaker 1: I started for the other one.
[2:04] Speaker 2: Okay, okay. I shouldn't even ask. Oh, no, I set
[2:07] Speaker 2: myself up with that. It kind of negotiated it. I just,
[2:09] Speaker 2: you know, I didn't even handle that. You set yourself up, Joe.
[2:11] Speaker 2: I set myself up. You set yourself up, Joe. B-Wood,
[2:13] Speaker 2: you understand. Okay. I should have just kept my mouth
[2:16] Speaker 2: shut messing with Gil.
[2:18] Speaker 1: But we got a lot to get into. Here's what's
[2:20] Speaker 1: cracking in the arena today. The Kawhi trade is now
[2:23] Speaker 1: official with the claw returning to the six. How much
[2:26] Speaker 1: has Kawhi moved the needle for the Raptors in the East?
[2:29] Speaker 1: Paul George says he's not trying to take any shine
[2:32] Speaker 1: from Jason Tatum. But what are realistic expectations for P.G.
[2:35] Speaker 1: Tatum in the Celtics this season? And Russell Westbrook announces
[2:41] Speaker 1: retirement after 18 seasons. Where does he rank amongst the
[2:44] Speaker 1: greatest point guards in NBA history? That man deserved a
[2:48] Speaker 1: farewell tour. He did not get it, unfortunately. But we're
[2:51] Speaker 1: going to give Westbrook his love on the show today.
[2:53] Speaker 1: But before we get into all that, we got to
[2:55] Speaker 1: talk about something. Did y'all know these sportsbooks are out
[2:58] Speaker 1: here doing you dirty?
[2:59] Speaker 2: Man. Show up, you know.
[3:01] Speaker 1: The cash out game, the shady odds, them deciding when
[3:03] Speaker 1: you can touch your own money. Nah, it's time for
[3:05] Speaker 1: something different. If you're tired of getting ganked, then delete
[3:08] Speaker 1: your Sportsbook app right now and have no fear because
[3:10] Speaker 1: Polymarket is here. Gil's Arena is presented by Polymarket. Shout

[3:39] Speaker 1: know the vibe on Polymarket.
[3:40] Speaker 2: They are rolling, Gil. Gil, we got to get you
[3:42] Speaker 2: some Dodgers games. Yeah, I didn't even know the season started.
[3:46] Speaker 2: It's almost over. Playoff time. Good Lord, man. No, I mean, like,
[3:51] Speaker 2: because we just bowled with Mookie Betts, so I was like...
[3:54] Speaker 2: He had a game that day. No, I remember he was...
[3:56] Speaker 2: I remember they came to New York and they played
[3:58] Speaker 2: when we was there. Yeah. I thought that was like
[4:00] Speaker 2: preseason or something. It's already in the playoffs.
[4:04] Speaker 3: Nah, they do be playing hella games back to back though.
[4:07] Speaker 2: That confused me too.
[4:08] Speaker 1: Anyway, with Polymarket, if things aren't going your way, you

[4:52] Speaker 2: It's our Twitch, Gil. You own it. Okay. It's like
[4:56] Speaker 2: both of ours. Okay. I'm just saying because I'm not
[5:01] Speaker 2: We on the front page of Twitter. I like it.
[5:02] Speaker 3: It was a colorful read again. I like the enthusiasm.
[5:05] Speaker 3: I like it. Polly Market.
[5:07] Speaker 2: I like it. Appreciate y'all. No voice inflections. Thank you.
[5:09] Speaker 2: Like it. Gifting up and loving it. You're a good reader.
[5:12] Speaker 2: Love it. That was all top of the dome. No problem.
[5:15] Speaker 2: The fans are hooked up now. But let's get into it.
[5:17] Speaker 2: Now that's crazy because you know we didn't get the
[5:19] Speaker 2: prompt until the host was a girl. We have discussed it.
[5:25] Speaker 2: Kenzie got the prop. We just benefit off of it.
[5:27] Speaker 2: I'll just be honest. Request for putting a little bit
[5:30] Speaker 2: off the lap. Yeah, I did your head down. I
[5:32] Speaker 2: did she was like no I don't do that. I
[5:34] Speaker 2: need one of them. It was like boom got you now.
[5:37] Speaker 2: We got to On.
[5:44] Speaker 1: Monday the quad trade to the Raptors became official less
[5:48] Speaker 1: than two weeks after the NBA hit the Clippers with
[5:49] Speaker 1: the harshest punishment in league history for circumventing the salary
[5:53] Speaker 1: cap with their former franchise player Cost him five firsts,
[5:56] Speaker 1: a $ 30 million fine, and one year suspension for Steve Ballmer.
[5:59] Speaker 1: Kawhi also fined a measly $ 700, 000 in his business manager.
[6:03] Speaker 2: I mean, versus that 30. Versus that 30. Yes, I'll do.
[6:08] Speaker 1: In his business manager, Uncle Dennis was banned for five
[6:10] Speaker 1: years from doing business with the league. Now Kawhi is
[6:13] Speaker 1: circumventing the Clippers, waiving his 15% trade kicker worth $ 7. 45
[6:17] Speaker 1: million to get the deal done. In exchange, the Clips
[6:20] Speaker 1: get Brandon Ingram, Grady Dick, two unprotected first rounders, A
[6:23] Speaker 1: 20-27 first swap in two seconds. Raptors finished fifth in
[6:27] Speaker 1: the East last season. I know you didn't watch them,
[6:29] Speaker 1: but they did finish fifth in the East last season.
[6:30] Speaker 2: They was hooping, too.
[6:32] Speaker 1: Took the Cavs a seven game in the first round.
[6:33] Speaker 1: Now they add an all-NBA forward in Kawhi, who led
[6:36] Speaker 1: the team to their only chip in franchise history seven
[6:40] Speaker 1: years ago.
[6:43] Speaker 2: And let's take a look.
[6:43] Speaker 1: Kawhi coming off one of the best seasons in his
[6:45] Speaker 1: 15-year career. Average of career-high 28 points, along with six rebounds,
[6:49] Speaker 1: four assists on 51-39, 89 shooting splits. Let's take a
[6:53] Speaker 1: quick look at the Raptors depth chart. Y'all know you're
[6:55] Speaker 1: not too familiar. We're going to get your familiarity up
[6:58] Speaker 1: with that Raptors crew. He joins a roster that includes
[7:00] Speaker 1: former Rookie of the Year, two-time All-Star Scotty Barnes, along
[7:03] Speaker 1: with R.J.
[7:04] Speaker 2: Barrett and Emmanuel Quigley.
[7:06] Speaker 1: So, Boogie, we got you on the couch for the
[7:07] Speaker 1: first time.
[7:08] Speaker 2: We're going to start with you.
[7:10] Speaker 1: How much does Kawhi going to the Raptors move the
[7:12] Speaker 1: needle for the Raptors in the East?
[7:14] Speaker 5: I think they get better. I wouldn't necessarily say a
[7:18] Speaker 5: contending team. As of now, I think the East is
[7:22] Speaker 5: a straight gauntlet now. It basically happened overnight. So you
[7:26] Speaker 5: think about the Knicks, you think about a team like Philly,
[7:28] Speaker 5: even a Boston.
[7:30] Speaker 2: I wouldn't necessarily.
[7:32] Speaker 5: Say them getting Kawhi at this point elevates them over
[7:37] Speaker 5: those teams. Shit, I would even consider Cleveland a better
[7:40] Speaker 5: team as of now. But I think anywhere Kawhi goes,
[7:43] Speaker 5: he's going to bring positivity to the group. He's definitely
[7:46] Speaker 5: going to elevate the group. But championships? I can't go
[7:50] Speaker 5: out on a limb and say I'm confident to say that.
[7:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't say championship. Nah, I'm just saying. But
[7:56] Speaker 2: did he make him better? Your question is, did he
[7:57] Speaker 2: make him better? Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. So Sean, what you
[8:02] Speaker 2: think about Kawhi going to the Raptors? Like I said,
[8:04] Speaker 2: fifth in the East. I like it.
[8:06] Speaker 3: I mean, I'm, Luckily, I'm not, you know, I'm not
[8:09] Speaker 3: invested in the Clippers, even though he did do, you know,
[8:12] Speaker 3: that was some bullshit.
[8:13] Speaker 2: And they got everything they deserve.
[8:15] Speaker 3: I'm just saying, just do that and then be able
[8:18] Speaker 3: to wipe your state clear.
[8:19] Speaker 2: Kawhi did us, he did justice.
[8:22] Speaker 3: I'm just saying, I can understand why some people would
[8:24] Speaker 3: be upset at what he just did and did.
[8:27] Speaker 2: But if you Toronto, you like bring him back. You
[8:30] Speaker 2: know what I mean?
[8:31] Speaker 3: Especially if we got Scottie and him now, so the
[8:33] Speaker 3: framework to guard two through four becomes way better. And
[8:36] Speaker 3: especially if you got to deal with broning them in
[8:38] Speaker 3: the East. If they're going to be in the East,
[8:40] Speaker 3: you got to deal with that. If you have to
[8:41] Speaker 3: deal with OG Ananobi and Jalen Brunson running around, it's
[8:46] Speaker 3: like you finally have tools and weapons that can combat
[8:50] Speaker 3: some of the... with, you know, the talent that is
[8:53] Speaker 3: loaded up in the East right now. So I like
[8:54] Speaker 3: it for the playoffs, and I feel like Scottie Barnes
[8:57] Speaker 3: in moments last year was dolo.
[9:00] Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
[9:00] Speaker 3: Kawhi, like, whether we talk about it or not, when
[9:03] Speaker 3: the playoffs come, Kawhi, Jimmy Butler, certain guys that aren't
[9:07] Speaker 3: going to get the top ten talk or the top
[9:09] Speaker 3: five talk in the league when the playoffs start, oh,
[9:12] Speaker 3: they really be like that.
[9:13] Speaker 2: So I like it. I think he's moving the needle.
[9:15] Speaker 1: All right, let's shift to this side of the couch. Brendan,
[9:17] Speaker 1: what do you think about Kawhi getting traded to the Raptors?
[9:19] Speaker 1: How does he move the needle for them in the
[9:21] Speaker 1: Eastern Conference?
[9:22] Speaker 2: If Kawhi's healthy, I like this move for him, especially
[9:24] Speaker 2: in the playoffs. If you watch Toronto in the playoffs,
[9:27] Speaker 2: when they were trying to get it, run the offense
[9:30] Speaker 2: through Brandon Ingram, it wasn't working. And when they were
[9:33] Speaker 2: looking for that half-court presence, it wasn't working with Brandon Ingram.
[9:36] Speaker 2: We already know if Kawhi's healthy... You throw it to
[9:38] Speaker 2: him in that mid-range, he's going to get to a shot.
[9:41] Speaker 2: It's not going to be flashy. He's going to bump
[9:42] Speaker 2: you off. He's going to get his shot off. He's
[9:44] Speaker 2: going to give them half-court respectability, and that's what you
[9:47] Speaker 2: need to win a championship. I don't think they're that.
[9:49] Speaker 2: I agree with Boogie. I don't think they're a championship team,
[9:51] Speaker 2: but they're a scary team. That ain't the team you
[9:54] Speaker 2: want to play in the first round when we got
[9:56] Speaker 2: Kawhi right here playing defense and offense. Then we got
[9:59] Speaker 2: Colin Moribor. bowls. And then on top of that, you
[10:01] Speaker 2: got Scottie Barnes. That's a lot of defense. And that
[10:04] Speaker 2: makes them a monster. That's a hard first round opponent. Yeah.
[10:08] Speaker 2: So like we talked about a Philly or if you're
[10:10] Speaker 2: the Knicks or whoever it is, a Cleveland, those teams
[10:12] Speaker 2: that we think are going to be the favorites. that's
[10:15] Speaker 2: not the team you want to play in the first
[10:16] Speaker 2: round because even if you beat them, they're going to
[10:18] Speaker 2: take you six, seven games. First round, you know, you
[10:21] Speaker 2: want chump. You don't want chip. That first round, you
[10:23] Speaker 2: want to get out of there real quick and then
[10:25] Speaker 2: go home. And be healthy. And be healthy. They're going
[10:27] Speaker 2: to make you play all the way through because that
[10:29] Speaker 2: defense is going to be real. And they're going to
[10:31] Speaker 2: grind it out. You know the six is going to
[10:33] Speaker 2: be jumping when you come up there. That little outside.
[10:35] Speaker 2: They got real defense. And then they got enough secondary
[10:38] Speaker 2: offensive players. That's what I'm worried about. Offensively. So offensively,
[10:43] Speaker 2: I worry about them shooting. But as far as like
[10:45] Speaker 2: the secondary players, Emmanuel Quigley, he can win you a game. R.J.
[10:49] Speaker 2: Barrett can win you a game. R.J. Barrett did a
[10:51] Speaker 2: great job last year.
[10:52] Speaker 6: I have enough depth. I got to count his stops
[10:55] Speaker 6: at Colin Murray's ball. And then you go maybe Jamal Snead.
[10:58] Speaker 6: But other than that, they lost a lot on the bench.
[11:00] Speaker 6: So if Kawhi isn't healthy the whole year, I think.
[11:03] Speaker 6: You know, last year they started off so hot, and
[11:05] Speaker 6: then they went 50% the rest of the way like
[11:07] Speaker 6: the last 40 or 50 games. I think one thing
[11:09] Speaker 6: that does occur is Kawhi's win percentage is around, what, 68%.
[11:13] Speaker 6: And then I guess what they love is if we
[11:15] Speaker 6: upgrade to Ingram, from Ingram to Kawhi, it's like, yo,
[11:19] Speaker 6: we might– all we need is a hot week, and
[11:22] Speaker 6: we're going to be very, very dangerous come playoff time
[11:24] Speaker 6: because Kawhi led a new team with the Toronto Raptors
[11:27] Speaker 6: to a 2019 championship. And sometimes I joke, but I'm like,
[11:30] Speaker 6: we remove the glasses or whatever. He gets into a
[11:33] Speaker 6: mode of hooping like Jordan, bro, where he can.
[11:35] Speaker 2: Who? I'm saying in a sense of like. Who are
[11:38] Speaker 2: you talking to? Jordan Kawhi. Kawhi.
[11:40] Speaker 6: I'm saying in a sense of like, bro, he goes crazy. Defensively,
[11:43] Speaker 6: he can stop anybody coming down the stretch. And in
[11:45] Speaker 6: crunch time, he can score at any type of level, bro.
[11:48] Speaker 6: That's different, bro. And the other top players are worried
[11:51] Speaker 6: about him. So I think when he shows up, he
[11:53] Speaker 6: can lift every voice.
[11:55] Speaker 5: I like the talent, you know, on paper as far
[11:57] Speaker 5: as everybody else around him. But just because it's talent
[12:00] Speaker 5: on paper, does that talent necessarily compliment their star player?
[12:04] Speaker 5: And that's more so what I worry about. Defensively, I
[12:07] Speaker 5: think this group is going to be called. I think
[12:08] Speaker 5: that's what makes Kawhi.
[12:10] Speaker 2: Is that what makes Kawhi? Yeah, you got the it factor.
[12:12] Speaker 3: Kawhi is not a superstar that you got to– That's.
[12:15] Speaker 5: Fine, but you still, the complimentary, and what I mean
[12:17] Speaker 5: by complimentary piece is.
[12:19] Speaker 2: More so to shoot. Oh, I got you.
[12:23] Speaker 5: We know Kawhi, it's a great possibility. He's getting trapped
[12:25] Speaker 5: as soon as he crosses half court. So at that point,
[12:28] Speaker 5: what are we leaning on? What's that go-to second option
[12:31] Speaker 5: as far as, you know, continuing the game and keeping
[12:33] Speaker 5: that flow?
[12:33] Speaker 2: And you brought up in the manual quickly. This is
[12:35] Speaker 2: a young guy.
[12:36] Speaker 5: That's a UK boy, so he got my love regardless,
[12:38] Speaker 5: but is he at that level to be that next option?
[12:41] Speaker 2: Then you talk about the Scottie Barnes.
[12:43] Speaker 5: Scottie Barnes has a lot of things he's good at
[12:46] Speaker 5: in basketball. I wouldn't necessarily say he's great at anything
[12:50] Speaker 5: yet offensively.
[12:51] Speaker 2: So that concerns me. And then we kind of talk– R.J. Barrett.
[12:54] Speaker 5: I said earlier, I don't think he's really improved since
[12:57] Speaker 5: he came into the league. I think he's the same
[12:59] Speaker 5: exact player that he was when he left Duke. And
[13:02] Speaker 5: that's not necessarily a knock. I think he's still a
[13:04] Speaker 5: good player.
[13:04] Speaker 2: He's a gamer and all that. He's there to compete.
[13:07] Speaker 2: But I'm still speaking on that second option that's going
[13:10] Speaker 2: to take– the load from Kawhi once he was trapped.
[13:13] Speaker 2: Or the outside shooting. Exactly.
[13:15] Speaker 5: So that's more so my concern compared to, you know,
[13:18] Speaker 5: they got talent on paper. I think sometimes their identity
[13:21] Speaker 5: is kind of like Detroit in a sense. Obviously, they
[13:23] Speaker 5: can score, but their physicality is also advantageous to them.
[13:26] Speaker 5: When you sit there, it's like, hey, we're not getting
[13:28] Speaker 5: to 120 champ. We're getting around 95, 104 tonight. We
[13:32] Speaker 5: keep it to 103.
[13:33] Speaker 2: We good.
[13:34] Speaker 6: Because we're imposing our nature on them. I feel like
[13:38] Speaker 6: that's what the Raptors are going to have to do,
[13:39] Speaker 6: take the type of Mentality, physicality, and like you said,
[13:42] Speaker 6: make everything a half-court game so Kawhi's staring you down
[13:45] Speaker 6: and turn it into a chess match as opposed to.
[13:48] Speaker 2: Turn it into a chess match. Yeah, because we're not
[13:50] Speaker 2: going to win trying to.
[13:51] Speaker 6: Like, Scottie Barnes, if he gets 25, we're like, damn,
[13:53] Speaker 6: that's a career high. Not in a disrespectful sense, but
[13:56] Speaker 6: he's an 18, 12, 7 type of dude. Shut you down,
[13:59] Speaker 6: lock you down, and take it from there. And that's
[14:01] Speaker 6: why R.J. Barrett is able to give you inefficient 25-point
[14:06] Speaker 6: nights and then... Certain nights he's going to be able
[14:08] Speaker 6: to get hot, and then you guys are going to
[14:09] Speaker 6: be able to win from there. But your cheat code is, like,
[14:13] Speaker 6: damn near Superman. Like, Kawhi Leonard is going to show up,
[14:15] Speaker 6: give you 25, and he damn near shot 90, 50, 40.
[14:17] Speaker 2: Right, but they got to hang their hat on you.
[14:19] Speaker 6: And then when it comes playoff time with dudes like Kawhi,
[14:22] Speaker 6: even like with Tatum and Boston, them dudes just need
[14:24] Speaker 6: a good week's worth of basketball. All that 82 games,
[14:27] Speaker 6: shit out the window. Like, can I average 30 for
[14:30] Speaker 6: a week? I guarantee you it's going to be hell
[14:32] Speaker 6: to tell the captain. And that's what they're taking. in
[14:34] Speaker 6: that sense, and that's what makes them dangerous.
[14:36] Speaker 2: But I'm glad you brought up Detroit, though, because I
[14:37] Speaker 2: think that's what their problem going to be.
[14:39] Speaker 5: You saw what happened to Detroit last year.
[14:42] Speaker 3: That boy didn't get his lung kicked in, though.
[14:45] Speaker 2: That would look different. If his lung didn't get kicked in. No,
[14:49] Speaker 2: I'm just saying. No, no, he was still doing his thing.
[14:52] Speaker 2: He still did his thing. He just wasn't enough.
[14:54] Speaker 3: No, but he averaged six turnovers a game. It disrupted
[14:57] Speaker 3: their rhythm, dog. That second option is valuable, bro. You
[15:00] Speaker 3: need that second option.
[15:01] Speaker 2: You saw what happened to Detroit. Motorcade is like that.
[15:05] Speaker 2: He's next up. He's one of them ones. But, man,
[15:08] Speaker 2: you know how hard it is when they're throwing two
[15:10] Speaker 2: or three people at you and you ain't got that
[15:12] Speaker 2: second option to truly just take that smoke away? that's
[15:15] Speaker 2: what a championship normally looks like. All right, we got
[15:17] Speaker 2: the star. Then we got another guy that he might
[15:20] Speaker 2: be Hall of Fame worthy to. Exactly. And on a
[15:24] Speaker 2: night where I don't have it, I can throw it
[15:26] Speaker 2: to you. Right. On a night where Kawhi doesn't have it,
[15:30] Speaker 2: because every star... And every series, there's going to be
[15:33] Speaker 2: a night where the team says, not you. Right. On
[15:35] Speaker 2: that night... Is R.J. Barrett ready to be the guy?
[15:38] Speaker 2: I don't know. Scotty Barnes. Offensively, he's not ready to
[15:41] Speaker 2: be the guy. What's his go-to?
[15:42] Speaker 3: He is once Kawhi Leonard take all the attention. They
[15:46] Speaker 3: was barely dealing with his.
[15:48] Speaker 2: Ass last year. The Cleveland Cavaliers slowly got by them.
[15:52] Speaker 2: Cleveland ain't a great example. They still got.
[15:55] Speaker 3: Two people that will come in there and bust your ass.
[15:58] Speaker 3: James Harden will come in there and do you bad.
[16:01] Speaker 3: Donovan Mitchell will come in there and shoot webs all
[16:04] Speaker 3: over your shit.
[16:05] Speaker 2: He'll do it. James will do it in May? Allegedly.
[16:08] Speaker 2: In May? He did it. He did? In May? No,
[16:11] Speaker 2: he didn't. Listen. In May. Listen, y'all keep forgetting. I
[16:13] Speaker 2: didn't say March. I didn't say March.
[16:15] Speaker 3: I didn't say December.
[16:17] Speaker 2: I said in May.
[16:17] Speaker 3: James Harden wasn't brought to Cleveland to score 60.
[16:20] Speaker 2: No, he was supposed to score 65. He was supposed
[16:22] Speaker 2: to compliment. He was supposed to compliment. He is. He is, though.
[16:26] Speaker 2: He know that. He supposed to have 20. He ain't
[16:29] Speaker 2: supposed to have 20.
[16:30] Speaker 3: 25.
[16:30] Speaker 2: Sam Darrow? Who? No, no, no. He supposed to have 15.
[16:33] Speaker 2: I put Mobley and Scottie Barnes in the same category.
[16:35] Speaker 2: That's the problem. You're a game. Don't say too much
[16:38] Speaker 2: too soon.
[16:38] Speaker 3: Mobley's always 16. They supposed to be winning at the end.
[16:41] Speaker 3: You shooting free throws.
[16:42] Speaker 2: Okay. 20 to 25.
[16:42] Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
[16:44] Speaker 2: Amen.
[16:45] Speaker 5: If Mobley is your second option, I'm comparing Scottie Barnes
[16:49] Speaker 5: to exactly what Mobley do.
[16:51] Speaker 2: And that's the problem. You think Scottie Barnes offensively is
[16:53] Speaker 2: ready to be a true number two option on a
[16:55] Speaker 2: championship level team? We're talking about creating offense.
[16:59] Speaker 3: Why Leonard coming there creates some sort of illusion?
[17:03] Speaker 2: Not an illusion. Not an illusion.
[17:06] Speaker 3: I think it just gives a hierarchy to where they
[17:09] Speaker 3: now know, okay, if we need a bucket, need a bucket,
[17:12] Speaker 3: we going right there. You're not going to have people
[17:14] Speaker 3: tilting as hard on you or focusing on you like
[17:16] Speaker 3: that because we got to focus on Kawhi.
[17:18] Speaker 2: So you're going to get easy ones, easy ones. You're
[17:20] Speaker 2: going to be in rhythm. You're going to have way
[17:22] Speaker 2: more energy. Who getting easy ones? Scotty Barnes. We talking
[17:26] Speaker 2: like Kawhi is like averaging eight assists. What do you mean?
[17:30] Speaker 2: All you got to do is this.
[17:31] Speaker 4: You don't even do that.
[17:33] Speaker 2: Because he's shooting 90, 50, 40.
[17:35] Speaker 3: All Kawhi got to do is take the defense to tilt.
[17:38] Speaker 2: We talking about guys complimenting each other. That's what I'm saying.
[17:42] Speaker 2: Kawhi not coming off looking for... Kawhi coming off looking
[17:45] Speaker 2: to shoot. So once he's trapped, That's where the defense
[17:49] Speaker 2: has their advantage. We got Kawhi exactly where he was.
[17:52] Speaker 3: As soon as we tilt, we get this advantage to
[17:55] Speaker 3: happen where we say we got to bring two.
[17:57] Speaker 2: We throw the ball to Scottie Barnes. Rotation happens.
[17:59] Speaker 3: Now you got to close out to Scottie Barnes.
[18:02] Speaker 2: No, you don't. That's the point. Boogie, you right. I'm
[18:04] Speaker 2: not closing out to Scottie Barnes. Shoot that shit. Watch
[18:07] Speaker 2: the playoffs. Kawhi is a scorer to Boogie. his point.
[18:11] Speaker 2: Brandon Ingram was off. That's why they skated past. Hold on.
[18:15] Speaker 2: If B.I. would have been killing.
[18:17] Speaker 3: Like he normally do, it was different.
[18:20] Speaker 2: B.I. got the shots and wasn't shooting well. That's it.
[18:23] Speaker 2: Hold up. So Kawhi got the ball, right? Bam. He's
[18:26] Speaker 2: coming off. He's killing. They're like, we're going to send
[18:29] Speaker 2: two to three people at him. Now, when that tilt
[18:31] Speaker 2: you talk about that all the stars see in the playoffs,
[18:34] Speaker 2: they're going to tilt off Scottie Barnes. They're going to
[18:37] Speaker 2: force Kawhi to throw to Scottie Barnes. Scottie Barnes shoots
[18:40] Speaker 2: between 27% to 30% from three.
[18:43] Speaker 3: So that rotation that you're talking about, you know how
[18:45] Speaker 3: it is in the playoffs.
[18:51] Speaker 2: They got to take away something. They're going to say, guys,
[18:52] Speaker 2: we're going to tilt on Kawhi. When it goes to him,
[18:55] Speaker 2: we don't go out there. He gets as many of
[18:56] Speaker 2: those threes as he wants. He's going to have to
[18:58] Speaker 2: prove at least three, four, five games before we come
[19:01] Speaker 2: out there. When you shoot 30% from three in playoff series,
[19:04] Speaker 2: they let you shoot. And that shit drops. They let
[19:07] Speaker 2: you shoot. But he know it's coming. When you shoot 30%
[19:10] Speaker 2: from three, they hope you hit your first one. Oh, bro.
[19:13] Speaker 2: That gets your confidence up. Because they really want you
[19:15] Speaker 2: shooting threes as opposed to Kawhi, Iso, and one-on-one. I
[19:18] Speaker 2: get it. And that is going to be the question
[19:20] Speaker 2: for Toronto. Can Scottie, can RJ, and those young guys
[19:24] Speaker 2: step up? Because they're going to say, not you, throw
[19:27] Speaker 2: the ball to you, and we ain't rotating. We want
[19:28] Speaker 2: to see what you got.
[19:29] Speaker 3: I'm letting you know I totally believe that Scottie Barnes
[19:33] Speaker 3: and RJ Barrett are totally capable of being two and
[19:36] Speaker 3: three with Kawhi Leonard.
[19:37] Speaker 2: I'm not saying. So why didn't you do that last year? What?
[19:40] Speaker 2: Because Brandon Ingram's not Kawhi. Brandon Ingram struggled. Oh, no, no.
[19:43] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? They doubled him, and then
[19:45] Speaker 2: he got a pass. He was saying, look at Joe
[19:46] Speaker 2: Oregon about it. Exactly. They doubled Ingram. Who the fuck
[19:49] Speaker 2: said that?
[19:50] Speaker 4: They double Ingram, and he got a pass to them
[19:52] Speaker 4: to shoot 20-something. So ain't shit changed.
[19:58] Speaker 3: The only thing that has changed is the.
[20:03] Speaker 4: Illusion of a 34-year-old guy who's been injured most of
[20:07] Speaker 4: this time, 35, that's going to come there for a
[20:10] Speaker 4: year or two, and you traded all your young pieces
[20:13] Speaker 4: with all your young pieces. So the future of your
[20:16] Speaker 4: team is at the Clippers now. You got him for
[20:19] Speaker 4: a year or two, and then he's gone.
[20:21] Speaker 2: Now what you got? Nothing.
[20:23] Speaker 3: But presently, what would you do?
[20:25] Speaker 4: I thought that he came here, added with those guys.
[20:28] Speaker 4: He can teach those guys how.
[20:30] Speaker 2: To be great, and then they can move on.
[20:32] Speaker 4: But the fact that you got rid of three, four
[20:35] Speaker 4: young people, that's going to build with Scotty Barnes.
[20:39] Speaker 2: Right. That's going to move the needle together. Yeah. to
[20:42] Speaker 2: bring in a 34-year-old that you're going to... 35. Give
[20:45] Speaker 2: him the extra year now. What you doing with him?
[20:47] Speaker 2: He's gone. Right, now you're rebuilding next year?
[20:55] Speaker 4: So they can go from five to four seed.
[20:59] Speaker 3: That'd be great. As of right now, I don't think...
[21:02] Speaker 3: They're a second option away from.
[21:05] Speaker 2: They're a second option away from being a second option.
[21:08] Speaker 2: So you don't think Scottie Barnes is a second option? Hey, Scottie,
[21:12] Speaker 2: you watching this? And I'm not saying Scottie Barnes can't
[21:15] Speaker 2: turn into... Hey, Scottie, you watching this, buddy? How you
[21:17] Speaker 2: feeling about the small ball? It went small ball. Oh!
[21:20] Speaker 2: I hope he is. Hey, Scott. Kawhi at the fourth. Hey.
[21:23] Speaker 2: I hope he is. 24-9 assists, six boards in the playoff.
[21:26] Speaker 3: We're watching a totally different player. I'm not used to it.
[21:30] Speaker 3: 24-9 assists, six rebounds, 38% from three, 50% from three. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[21:34] Speaker 2: Just the same. Take a game. But only three attempts. Three.
[21:36] Speaker 2: That's all you need. That's what I'm telling y'all. Exactly.
[21:40] Speaker 2: But he got nine and six, though. And you better
[21:43] Speaker 2: hope he don't make eight. All right. All right. I've
[21:48] Speaker 2: been playing with that superstar next to you, bro. That's
[21:51] Speaker 2: what it is. Yeah. Did you know that? I don't
[21:53] Speaker 2: even like shooting threes. Ask the Atlanta Hawks, can I
[21:56] Speaker 2: shoot three? It looks like I like this. I'm E. Bro, bro,
[22:00] Speaker 2: throw me another one. Throw me another one.
[22:02] Speaker 3: I don't know why they doubling you and leaving me,
[22:04] Speaker 3: but I've been waiting.
[22:05] Speaker 2: To do this. Huh? Now that's the difference. Yeah, what?
[22:09] Speaker 2: I think Scottie Barnes is a player. So Scottie Barnes
[22:12] Speaker 2: has to be James Harden. So you lose your second option.
[22:15] Speaker 6: You don't have to be hard in there.
[22:18] Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What I'm saying is Kawhi is just
[22:22] Speaker 2: a scorer. He is just coming to it.
[22:24] Speaker 3: He's old school, but he can go off the floppy action.
[22:28] Speaker 2: But who is getting the ball to the rest of
[22:30] Speaker 2: the team? Scottie Barnes. So now Scottie Barnes has to
[22:34] Speaker 2: be the middle man. Emmanuel. No, Emmanuel getting the ball. No,
[22:38] Speaker 2: so he's technically the third. Emmanuel getting the ball. Emmanuel who? No,
[22:41] Speaker 2: he giving him out.
[22:42] Speaker 3: No, no, no.
[22:43] Speaker 2: So R.J. Barrett has to be the middle man. He's
[22:45] Speaker 2: not looking to pass. No, R.J.
[22:46] Speaker 4: Barrett has to be the score now. Bro, that big
[22:49] Speaker 4: pick and roll would be crazy. And Scottie Barnes is
[22:51] Speaker 4: the one that gets it from Kawhi to give it
[22:53] Speaker 4: over here.
[22:53] Speaker 2: Bro, they're inefficient. God, he's got a pick and roll
[22:56] Speaker 2: for Kawhi. They got it. I told you. They're very light.
[23:00] Speaker 3: It's almost like having the same three guys.
[23:03] Speaker 4: You remember, Kawhi averaged 28 last year.
[23:06] Speaker 2: Remember, there's a James Harden on the team. When he
[23:09] Speaker 2: came back.
[23:09] Speaker 4: Because James Harden is the one that keeps him happy
[23:12] Speaker 4: and everybody else.
[23:13] Speaker 3: Right.
[23:14] Speaker 2: So that means Scottie Barnes, one of the most.
[23:18] Speaker 4: Solid. Overall player, right? He has to now rely on R.J.
[23:24] Speaker 4: Barrett to be the guarantee.
[23:26] Speaker 2: Distributor? Oh, scorer. The scorer, my bad. Scorer. All he's
[23:30] Speaker 2: going to do is shoot, bro. He had his best
[23:33] Speaker 2: playoff shot. They're going to possibly make it to the
[23:37] Speaker 2: fourth or fifth seed. And good luck, bro. What was
[23:41] Speaker 2: his best? Summer, trade him somewhere else. All right. We're
[23:44] Speaker 2: going to revisit this. Unless they get another superstar over there.
[23:47] Speaker 2: I love it, man. They're going to get a Kyrie Irving.
[23:52] Speaker 2: There you go. That makes it totally different. That's a
[23:55] Speaker 2: different conversation. But he is 34. 35. Give me 40-year-old Kyrie.
[24:04] Speaker 2: Give me Uncle Drew. Exactly. Give me old-ass 60-year-old Kyrie.
[24:09] Speaker 2: What the fuck are you talking about? Fuck it. You
[24:11] Speaker 2: say you didn't watch the Raptors, but... You got all
[24:13] Speaker 2: that over there. Very informed about the Toronto Raptors. Oh, no, no,
[24:16] Speaker 2: because the Lakers played them, and then I had to
[24:17] Speaker 2: watch them locking it up. Ah, man. Don't pass it
[24:23] Speaker 2: to the room. You better get this. All I'm... Like
[24:25] Speaker 2: I said, we know how Kawhi want to play. He
[24:28] Speaker 2: want to ice. The Toronto Raptors were probably one of
[24:31] Speaker 2: the bottom three teams as far as shooting threes last year.
[24:35] Speaker 2: every team is going to say, okay, we're going to
[24:36] Speaker 2: load up on you and make you beat us with
[24:38] Speaker 2: your weakness, make you play basically left-handed. And so that's
[24:41] Speaker 2: going to be their problem. Like, can Scottie knock down threes?
[24:43] Speaker 2: I hope he can, but he normally shoots 30. They're
[24:46] Speaker 2: going to give him them shots. They're going to give
[24:47] Speaker 2: RJ those shots because it's all about probabilities in the playoffs.
[24:51] Speaker 2: The probability of Kawhi playing one-on-one against our guy is
[24:53] Speaker 2: not in our favor. The probability of you shooting that
[24:56] Speaker 2: corner three, we like them odds, and that's what they're
[24:58] Speaker 2: going to do. If Toronto's hitting shots, they can win
[25:00] Speaker 2: a couple rounds. If they're not hitting shots, they can
[25:03] Speaker 2: be gone first.
[25:03] Speaker 3: I'm just saying, like Evan was saying, if it was
[25:06] Speaker 3: me and I'm playing against the Toronto Raptors, I'm like,
[25:11] Speaker 3: let's get this shit over with quick in five games
[25:14] Speaker 3: at the most. Oh, I'm not going to be playing
[25:18] Speaker 3: with Kawhi down the stretch. I don't feel like doing this.
[25:21] Speaker 3: And I feel like if you play chicken in the playoffs,
[25:24] Speaker 3: sometimes it work in your favor to where everybody finna
[25:26] Speaker 3: be sitting here. Like how he keep winning. Like, bro,
[25:29] Speaker 3: it's matchups at the end of the day. I just
[25:31] Speaker 3: feel like, If you can get.
[25:32] Speaker 2: Him out of here in five, you get them out
[25:34] Speaker 2: of here in four, cool.
[25:35] Speaker 3: But like he said, I wouldn't want to be in
[25:38] Speaker 3: no real series with Kawhi and Scottie Barnes.
[25:41] Speaker 2: Hell no.
[25:42] Speaker 3: Kawhi, Scottie Barnes, and R.J. Barrett, that's 6'8 to 6'9.
[25:47] Speaker 2: That's annoying. You got to play short. You got to
[25:50] Speaker 2: play short. You say it's unlimited off the floor.
[25:53] Speaker 3: If you have, like, playing with Bron, playing with Melo,
[25:57] Speaker 3: a 6'9 guy that can move is just, it's hard
[26:01] Speaker 3: to deal with it. You have to do so much
[26:04] Speaker 3: to just have to.
[26:06] Speaker 2: Say, okay, this is just so he don't fuck us up.
[26:08] Speaker 2: But when they're not great at anything, it's a little
[26:10] Speaker 2: bit easier to do.
[26:11] Speaker 3: I totally get that. I'm just saying after seeing them
[26:13] Speaker 3: in the playoffs.
[26:14] Speaker 2: I'm not running Scottie Barnes off the three. I'm closing
[26:16] Speaker 2: out short. If you would have took the playoffs last
[26:18] Speaker 2: year and replaced... Shoot that broke-ass shit.
[26:20] Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
[26:21] Speaker 2: Shit, R.J. Barrett sent it to overtime. That's what I'm saying.
[26:23] Speaker 3: They act like they wasn't playing this. That's what they
[26:26] Speaker 3: did last year. And y'all talk about Scottie Barnes. A
[26:29] Speaker 3: dude that can't shoot threes.
[26:31] Speaker 2: Know how to hoop, bro. I'm a fan of Scottie Barnes.
[26:34] Speaker 3: He's talking about, I ain't finish you regardless.
[26:37] Speaker 2: Talking about, let me shoot. I'm finna do it. He
[26:39] Speaker 2: averaged nine assists. Bro, I'm finna do it. No, no, no.
[26:42] Speaker 2: But if Ingram's still there and Scottie is the third option...
[26:47] Speaker 2: Now you have a dangerous team. Listen, they got lucky. B.I.
[26:50] Speaker 2: was off. You know what I mean? But you hope
[26:52] Speaker 2: that R.J. Barrett develops a little bit more, bro. He's
[26:54] Speaker 2: still balling. And I said that earlier.
[26:56] Speaker 3: You don't know what he's turning into.
[26:59] Speaker 2: Did you see him in the playoff? He has never
[27:02] Speaker 2: been that off. Even if he's taking three and he shoots.
[27:04] Speaker 2: One at a time. One at a time. One at
[27:06] Speaker 2: a time. He's now got to shoot. Uh-oh. There we go, Paolo.
[27:09] Speaker 2: Hold on. You said B.I. has never been off. B.I.
[27:12] Speaker 2: was off the last time he was in the playoffs
[27:13] Speaker 2: in New Orleans.
[27:14] Speaker 3: I'm saying he ain't never been that off. He had
[27:16] Speaker 3: open looks. He had things.
[27:19] Speaker 2: Hold on. The last two times B.I. has been in
[27:21] Speaker 2: the playoffs, he has not played well. If you pull
[27:23] Speaker 2: up the numbers, he didn't play well when he was
[27:25] Speaker 2: in New Orleans. That's why he played. I know they're
[27:27] Speaker 2: playing against OKC, but he did not play well. This
[27:30] Speaker 2: first round against Cleveland for Toronto, he did not play well.
[27:34] Speaker 2: His last two playoff series were not good.
[27:36] Speaker 6: Can we also just argue like he didn't have a
[27:39] Speaker 6: good second? I didn't say he had a good second.
[27:41] Speaker 2: Good second, but his numbers weren't what they normally are.
[27:46] Speaker 2: He didn't play well. That's all I'm saying. He didn't
[27:48] Speaker 2: play well. Whether he played well in the past, whether
[27:51] Speaker 2: it's some new shit, I don't know.
[27:52] Speaker 3: What I'm saying is if you watch B.I. all year
[27:55] Speaker 3: and you was the Toronto Raptors, you're like, when we.
[27:57] Speaker 2: Get to the playoffs... He can get us a bucket
[28:00] Speaker 2: down the stretch. Oh, hold on. But we also know
[28:03] Speaker 2: that the regular season, guys that get buckets in the
[28:06] Speaker 2: regular season, as opposed to guys that get buckets in
[28:08] Speaker 2: the playoffs, is different. Without a doubt. So what I'm
[28:10] Speaker 2: saying is, I don't know. He's only been to the
[28:12] Speaker 2: playoffs one other time. He's been there twice. Both times.
[28:16] Speaker 2: When that weather started changing, when the pollen started coming
[28:19] Speaker 2: off the trees, I don't know if he got allergies
[28:21] Speaker 2: or what, but his game switched. You like that one.
[28:25] Speaker 2: I saw you smile. I got you. You like that one.
[28:27] Speaker 2: But all I'm saying is that when the weather started switching,
[28:30] Speaker 2: when the game slowed down, When they allow you to
[28:35] Speaker 2: get real physical, his game is about fighting to the mid-range.
[28:40] Speaker 2: He's a slim player that fights to the mid-range. And
[28:42] Speaker 2: in the regular season, the officials will let you get there.
[28:45] Speaker 2: Then in the postseason, for some reason, it's a different whistle.
[28:48] Speaker 2: They let a lot more hand-to-hand combat go. And the
[28:51] Speaker 2: last two times Brandon Ingram has been involved in the playoffs,
[28:55] Speaker 2: if you pull up his numbers, shooting percentages have plummeted.
[28:58] Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying. So I don't know. if his
[29:01] Speaker 2: game translates to the playoffs. I'm not hating. I'm just
[29:03] Speaker 2: saying I don't know.
[29:04] Speaker 3: I think it would as a second option, not a
[29:06] Speaker 3: first option.
[29:07] Speaker 2: Hey, that's fine.
[29:07] Speaker 3: I'm saying I've watched plenty of players go through the
[29:10] Speaker 3: league and have struggles their first couple of playoffs. They
[29:14] Speaker 3: don't play well, but that's what drives them to keep
[29:17] Speaker 3: working their ass off.
[29:18] Speaker 2: For sure. 35% from the field in 2024, 33% from
[29:20] Speaker 2: the field in 2020. Hold on. I'm not going to
[29:21] Speaker 2: knock him the same way I would not.
[29:22] Speaker 3: Like, I get– angry over James Harden getting stuck in
[29:28] Speaker 3: the playoffs and feeling like he needed to get his
[29:31] Speaker 3: ring already because I feel like at the end of
[29:33] Speaker 3: games instead of going to the step back the moment
[29:35] Speaker 3: he go to just laying on the table laying back
[29:38] Speaker 3: and shooting a one two dribble pull-up that they can't stop.
[29:41] Speaker 3: It ain't nothing you can do. You can double do whatever.
[29:43] Speaker 3: It's up to him to make or miss it. Once
[29:45] Speaker 3: he gets to that, I feel like he's going to
[29:47] Speaker 3: be in another conversation no matter if he's on the
[29:50] Speaker 3: later part.
[29:50] Speaker 2: I agree, but hold on. Hold on. Hold on one second. Hey, Joe. Joe,
[29:53] Speaker 2: what was it? It's going to be able to carry
[29:55] Speaker 2: you there.
[29:56] Speaker 3: All you have to do is figure out the last
[29:58] Speaker 3: five minutes of a game. He didn't have the ball
[30:01] Speaker 3: every single play for the pass.
[30:03] Speaker 2: Joe, what was it? Hold on. What was it? I know.
[30:05] Speaker 3: It seemed like that because you saw four turnovers. But
[30:08] Speaker 3: if four turnovers was four shot attempts of James Harden saying,
[30:11] Speaker 3: I'm going to take two dribbles, I'm going to go
[30:13] Speaker 3: right here, it ain't shit you can.
[30:15] Speaker 2: Do about it. This is 400. Hold on. This is 400.
[30:18] Speaker 2: That's fine.
[30:18] Speaker 3: All I'm saying is if James does that and takes
[30:21] Speaker 3: away the turnovers, you're looking at a different outcome for
[30:24] Speaker 3: James Harden.
[30:25] Speaker 2: That's what the playoffs is. But we're not talking about James.
[30:27] Speaker 2: We're talking about B.I. What was B.I. 's number?
[30:29] Speaker 1: So 2024 shot 35% from the field in the playoffs,
[30:32] Speaker 1: four games, and then this postseason.
[30:35] Speaker 2: He shot 33%. That's all I'm saying. That's the only
[30:38] Speaker 2: thing I'm saying. I know that. 35 and 33.
[30:41] Speaker 3: Now, all I'm saying is if you take Kawhi and
[30:45] Speaker 3: put him in B.I.
[30:46] Speaker 2: 's spot, does Toronto go home? I'm with you. That's
[30:51] Speaker 2: what I was saying. I like Kawhi. I said they're
[30:53] Speaker 2: a scary team. You don't want to play them in
[30:57] Speaker 2: the first round. I like when the weather changes. Yeah,
[31:00] Speaker 2: I knew you would. But I'm just saying. I understand
[31:04] Speaker 2: that there's levels of this, and I think they're a
[31:06] Speaker 2: good playoff team. I don't think they're a championship team.
[31:10] Speaker 2: And when Kawhi gets to cooking, I think they're going
[31:12] Speaker 2: to shrink the court. This is one of the worst
[31:14] Speaker 2: three-point shooting teams in the NBA. That's going to be
[31:16] Speaker 2: their demise.
[31:17] Speaker 1: And no Ingram in game six or seven either in
[31:19] Speaker 1: this postseason. You heard his planter fashion, right?
[31:22] Speaker 2: Yeah. Because, I mean, his first year in the playoffs,
[31:24] Speaker 2: he had 27-6-6. Shooting what? 27-6-6, shooting 45%. Who? B.I. Okay.
[31:32] Speaker 2: So he is a playoff player. I'm saying the last two. Joe,
[31:36] Speaker 2: what did he shoot the last two, Joe? It's hard
[31:38] Speaker 2: to play in the playoffs if everybody I pass to
[31:41] Speaker 2: can't shoot. Exactly. So, I mean, let's just be honest.
[31:45] Speaker 2: If I'm trying to get on the ISO and I
[31:47] Speaker 2: got to pass to somebody who can't shoot, now I
[31:50] Speaker 2: don't want to pass. Real talk. Real talk.
[31:53] Speaker 3: It becomes harder. People don't understand that, too. It's like
[31:56] Speaker 3: you said. The court is short. I'm a mid-range guy.
[32:01] Speaker 4: So I'm a mid-range guy, so I'm trying to get
[32:03] Speaker 4: to this mid-range, and I can't now because I'm loaded up.
[32:07] Speaker 2: But that's what we're saying about Kawhi. Just put it.
[32:10] Speaker 3: Like this right here.
[32:12] Speaker 2: When you were on the wings... It was over with
[32:15] Speaker 2: everybody around him. One at a time, gentlemen. That's what
[32:18] Speaker 2: we're saying. When the court shrinks, it's going to be
[32:19] Speaker 2: so much harder. Think about when You on the Wiz. Mm-hmm.
[32:22] Speaker 2: They started shrinking that court. When they wasn't guarding me
[32:25] Speaker 2: and calling me, how tough was life for you? Oh, yeah.
[32:28] Speaker 2: Life was tough, man.
[32:29] Speaker 6: Hey, man.
[32:29] Speaker 2: Woo! They like throw it to Haywood. We dare you. Like, no,
[32:35] Speaker 2: that's where they want the ball to go. You still
[32:37] Speaker 2: trying to get yours off, dribbling through that tight. Man,
[32:39] Speaker 2: you saw what happened with the heat did to us.
[32:41] Speaker 2: Shrink that court. Make that ball go over there. Real talk.
[32:44] Speaker 2: Make it out of bounds. Because we know Karan can boogie,
[32:46] Speaker 2: but Karan wants to get, he wants to jab step.
[32:48] Speaker 2: So we're like, okay, he don't want to catch and shoot.
[32:50] Speaker 2: Brenda's not a scorer. Kwame's not a scorer. All right, Gil.
[32:54] Speaker 2: Court shrunk. What you going to do? You out there
[32:55] Speaker 2: is like, ooh, look like I'm playing one on three.
[32:57] Speaker 2: That's different. That's different. Yeah. That's different. That's what Kawhi
[33:02] Speaker 2: is going to see until the weak side guys prove
[33:05] Speaker 2: that that coverage won't work. Kawhi been seeing that.
[33:08] Speaker 4: And that's why I don't like dudes that just play
[33:11] Speaker 4: defense on the court.
[33:13] Speaker 2: Yeah. Because people don't understand. Wait, what? Coaches don't understand.
[33:17] Speaker 2: I feel attacked. No, no, no. Hey, Boogie. Hey, Boogie,
[33:19] Speaker 2: I feel attacked. No, no, no. Wait, what? He don't
[33:22] Speaker 2: like what? No, I'm talking about at the guard position.
[33:25] Speaker 2: At the guard position. You're just a guy out there
[33:28] Speaker 2: playing defense. You don't realize how hard.
[33:31] Speaker 4: You just made the game where there's a guy out
[33:34] Speaker 4: there who can't do nothing offensively, meaning now I can
[33:38] Speaker 4: just sit there and look.
[33:39] Speaker 2: Pass it to him. We haven't even mentioned Jacob Porter
[33:42] Speaker 2: or whatever. Yeah, whatever his name is. He's on the
[33:46] Speaker 2: floor as well.
[33:46] Speaker 3: That's going to be tough.
[33:48] Speaker 2: That's nasty. Because most of the time now, you've got
[33:53] Speaker 2: to stretch five. You've got strong corners shooting threes. The
[33:56] Speaker 2: game is basically played like a triangle. You've got your
[33:58] Speaker 2: stretch five or your stretch four at the top. You've
[34:00] Speaker 2: got shooters in the corner and your best players in
[34:02] Speaker 2: the middle of that triangle causing a damn problem.
[34:05] Speaker 3: Plenty of games where they done did that to me
[34:07] Speaker 3: where I've told them I don't feel like shooting no
[34:08] Speaker 3: more threes.
[34:09] Speaker 2: I'm done.
[34:11] Speaker 3: They done came, set that ball screen. I went right
[34:14] Speaker 3: up there, right behind Tristan. You going to try and hide?
[34:16] Speaker 2: Nope. They going full speed off the, like, say you
[34:19] Speaker 2: was getting it going. Nope. You going to guard Gil today.
[34:21] Speaker 2: We're not doing that. If y'all going to back off me, cool.
[34:24] Speaker 2: I'm going to come set a screen on you, backing off.
[34:27] Speaker 2: He's going to go down. It's that perk screen that
[34:28] Speaker 2: he used to run for Russ. We're going to do that.
[34:31] Speaker 3: But it's like, as a basketball player, you're just going
[34:33] Speaker 3: to have to figure that out. I don't think that
[34:34] Speaker 3: they're bad basketball players. Nobody said it was bad. I
[34:37] Speaker 3: feel like we talking like.
[34:39] Speaker 4: They just go sit here and.
[34:40] Speaker 2: Accept that shit. Yes, some of them are bad basketball.
[34:43] Speaker 2: I think they're bad fits.
[34:46] Speaker 4: When we played that talented guy who was gifted, but
[34:52] Speaker 4: dumb as shit, couldn't remember to play, he got to
[34:55] Speaker 4: sit on the bench because he couldn't remember nothing.
[34:57] Speaker 2: They have to play now. It's called five out. They
[35:00] Speaker 2: don't run plays.
[35:02] Speaker 4: So dumb basketball players get to be out there. They're
[35:04] Speaker 4: super talented, but they are not smart enough to know, hey,
[35:08] Speaker 4: I can't shoot.
[35:09] Speaker 2: You know what?
[35:09] Speaker 4: If I can go set a back screen and do
[35:12] Speaker 4: all this and come to the ball, I'm the passer.
[35:14] Speaker 2: They don't understand that.
[35:15] Speaker 4: They just going to sit in the corner and just
[35:17] Speaker 4: be like.
[35:18] Speaker 3: We start realizing that on field. Like, bro, they doing this.
[35:21] Speaker 3: They trying to get me to shoot this shot. I
[35:23] Speaker 3: could just set a flare for J.R. They're not guarding me. Like,
[35:26] Speaker 3: they're not even looking at me. They so focused on Melo,
[35:29] Speaker 3: I could just set this slam screen.
[35:31] Speaker 2: But you just got more credit, Sean. But Sean, you
[35:33] Speaker 2: ain't going to get no credit. It's just like, that's
[35:35] Speaker 2: how you go stay on the court. If you can't shoot.
[35:37] Speaker 2: That's why you were on the court. You deserve it.
[35:38] Speaker 2: It's like, bro, we ain't got time for this. I
[35:40] Speaker 2: done missed three straight.
[35:41] Speaker 3: Y'all think I'm going to keep chucking this and playing
[35:43] Speaker 3: in their head?
[35:44] Speaker 2: Hell no. Swish, come shoot this bitch, bro. It goes
[35:46] Speaker 2: back to what Gilbert just said, though, Sean. You've always
[35:48] Speaker 2: had a high basketball IQ. The only year I played
[35:52] Speaker 2: with you, I'm like, okay, Sean know how to play. Mm-hmm.
[35:54] Speaker 2: Some guys, when they... Some guys... R.J. Barrett not doing it.
[35:56] Speaker 2: Some guys, when you put them in the corner, they don't...
[35:59] Speaker 2: That screen you're talking about setting, what's that? Hey, man,
[36:02] Speaker 2: a cutback, what's that? I don't know where to go.
[36:05] Speaker 2: That's hard to believe. Have you watched the guy? Have
[36:07] Speaker 2: you watched the new NBA? There's a lot of guys
[36:09] Speaker 2: that don't know how to play like that. Believe it, bro.
[36:12] Speaker 2: You don't believe? Some of these guys. How many 6A.
[36:14] Speaker 6: Dudes have three in the midst of the game?
[36:17] Speaker 2: It's one trick, one skill, bro.
[36:19] Speaker 4: They're getting special.
[36:22] Speaker 2: They get out there in the playoffs with the big eyes.
[36:25] Speaker 2: The lights get bright. That popcorn get extra buttery. They
[36:28] Speaker 2: don't be knowing where to go. Young fella, y'all need
[36:30] Speaker 2: to go get in that field room, dog. I'm telling you.
[36:32] Speaker 2: Coaches became lazy. It's a world of things you can do.
[36:35] Speaker 2: You ain't got to settle for that, Trey Paul. They
[36:37] Speaker 2: be telling them to take them shots now. Yeah, I
[36:41] Speaker 2: get that. I totally get the position. They be working on, hey,
[36:43] Speaker 2: shoot them shots. As long as the shots go up, cool.
[36:45] Speaker 2: It's like, I just don't like nobody. You got career
[36:47] Speaker 2: 32 points. You got guys that shoot 32% for their
[36:50] Speaker 2: career shooting eight threes. I ain't never done that. They
[36:53] Speaker 2: be working on that. That's the new game. I'm hurting
[36:56] Speaker 2: the team. I do that shit. I just shot 45%
[36:59] Speaker 2: my whole life. Now, you're talking about E.T. shoot more. No,
[37:02] Speaker 2: do better. When we lost to y'all, Portland versus New Orleans,
[37:08] Speaker 2: why did we lose? Perfect example.
[37:10] Speaker 6: They're trapping Dame. Who they got in the corner? Who
[37:12] Speaker 6: was spanking y'all all year? No, we got rid of
[37:14] Speaker 6: y'all a couple few times.
[37:15] Speaker 2: No, you didn't. Before you got hurt, what occurred? We
[37:19] Speaker 2: spanked y'all all year.
[37:20] Speaker 3: So how are we ahead of y'all?
[37:22] Speaker 7: Let's look that up later on. We spanked y'all all year.
[37:25] Speaker 7: There could be some other teams. You don't remember the
[37:28] Speaker 7: lob to the 360? That's a good one. We spanked
[37:31] Speaker 7: y'all all year.
[37:33] Speaker 2: My brother, no you're not. It was Harlem Globetrotters. No, no, no, no. No, no.
[37:38] Speaker 2: Not the Washington Generals. Not the Washington Generals. Come on.
[37:41] Speaker 6: How many kids have never been spoken about that ever
[37:43] Speaker 6: in franchise history?
[37:44] Speaker 3: That's fine.
[37:45] Speaker 2: But that year? No, you did it the one game
[37:47] Speaker 2: before you got hurt. This is when you were in Boston?
[37:49] Speaker 1: No, no, no.
[37:49] Speaker 3: I'm saying one game you went absolutely berserk. This is
[37:52] Speaker 3: when you were in Portland or Boston? I have always
[37:54] Speaker 3: been against Portland. Even before I got.
[37:56] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
[37:57] Speaker 5: Even before I got there. When it was the combination
[37:59] Speaker 5: of us two, we spanked y'all. The entire, y'all never
[38:02] Speaker 5: won a game.
[38:03] Speaker 2: Oh my Lord. 1,000%. We're going to look that up.
[38:06] Speaker 2: Look it up. I mean, I don't want to talk
[38:07] Speaker 2: about my age. I would love that. At all. It's
[38:10] Speaker 2: going to be like DeMarcus, 40, Evan, 5. I'm cool
[38:15] Speaker 2: on that. But what I'm saying, moving forward. You did
[38:17] Speaker 2: give the Blazers 55 when you were with the Kings. Ooh, 55.
[38:20] Speaker 2: That's strong right there. It was getting ridiculous.
[38:23] Speaker 3: That was the game, bro.
[38:26] Speaker 6: But I'm saying when you go into that situation, we
[38:28] Speaker 6: kind of had that moment where they were trapping Dane.
[38:30] Speaker 6: Trapping CJ, so now you got myself and a couple
[38:33] Speaker 6: other members I want to bring up where it was
[38:35] Speaker 6: just like it came to the point of being like, yo,
[38:37] Speaker 6: we in trouble if I'm shooting five threes a game
[38:39] Speaker 6: as opposed to setting up a different type of offense
[38:42] Speaker 6: to get Dame going, get Dame to receive the shots.
[38:44] Speaker 6: We played right into y'all hands, and it's like, dog,
[38:48] Speaker 6: niggas ain't shot threes all year. Like, this is what
[38:50] Speaker 6: we finna do in these four days? Like, you know
[38:52] Speaker 6: what I'm saying? And that shows up, and that molds well.
[38:55] Speaker 6: But I feel as though, like, the coaching and preparation
[38:57] Speaker 6: isn't just like, yo, this player's limited. It's like, where
[39:00] Speaker 6: can we put them in position to be successful? And
[39:03] Speaker 6: that's where we say coaches get a little lazy, not
[39:05] Speaker 6: dissing them, but it's like, those moments come prior to April,
[39:09] Speaker 6: prior to when the weather changes. It's like, yo, what
[39:11] Speaker 6: can they do? Realistically, ET going to shoot 37% this year?
[39:16] Speaker 2: No.
[39:16] Speaker 6: He plays a certain type of way, so when we
[39:19] Speaker 6: went into the playoffs and all you got to do
[39:20] Speaker 6: is trap Dane, that's just small-minded.
[39:23] Speaker 2: Right, man. Yeah, they should have had you flashing middle. No,
[39:27] Speaker 2: I'm just sitting. Even if he flashed middle, who the
[39:29] Speaker 2: ball going to?
[39:30] Speaker 5: Moe Harkless? Myers Leonard? That's exactly what we wanted. And
[39:36] Speaker 5: then it's going to go right to Evan. That's why
[39:39] Speaker 5: they got swept.
[39:40] Speaker 2: No, no, no.
[39:41] Speaker 3: I'm saying it's not going to go to him shooting threes.
[39:43] Speaker 3: It's going to go to him when he's flashing. Even
[39:45] Speaker 3: if he goes middle, who's he swinging it to?
[39:49] Speaker 2: Oh, you got C.J. and Dame. You can't double. It's C.J.
[39:52] Speaker 2: and Dame to where it's like, I know where y'all
[39:54] Speaker 2: going to be at. He's just telling you they did double.
[39:56] Speaker 2: It's going to be one-on-one from right here. He's telling
[39:58] Speaker 2: you in that series they did double. They said, okay,
[40:00] Speaker 2: we're not going to double up. And he's saying they
[40:02] Speaker 2: had him in the corner to shoot threes. Yeah, not
[40:05] Speaker 2: in the middle of the floor where he's good, but.
[40:07] Speaker 3: It's like we're so we all say the same thing
[40:11] Speaker 3: coaching me through it like.
[40:17] Speaker 2: But that's the difference between Basketball players and just people
[40:21] Speaker 2: doing offense. Yeah, right so you may trap numbers We're.
[40:25] Speaker 4: Gonna trap you what the other three gonna do what
[40:27] Speaker 4: y'all teach them all year.
[40:28] Speaker 2: I Yeah, what rhythm? We're trapping you this series. Y'all
[40:33] Speaker 2: ain't both been trapped all year. What you gonna do?
[40:36] Speaker 2: You don't have an actual offense. And this is what
[40:40] Speaker 2: basketball misses. The triangle wasn't meant for Michael Jordan.
[40:45] Speaker 4: It was meant for everybody else to move so you
[40:48] Speaker 4: couldn't double. Single like Michael Jordan. So if you're not
[40:53] Speaker 4: gonna play these motions, right easy lazy easy keeps you
[40:57] Speaker 4: honest That's what the office is made for the office
[41:00] Speaker 4: is made for your team to move and get easy
[41:04] Speaker 4: stuff and your star is is going to play his
[41:07] Speaker 4: one-on-one and take advantage of his man. So where is
[41:10] Speaker 4: the offense for everybody's team? Golden State has one.
[41:15] Speaker 2: For sure. Move around, move around. Draymond drives. You don't
[41:18] Speaker 2: want to help you do this. Like, they have that.
[41:20] Speaker 4: But it's for everybody else to play defense and be honest.
[41:24] Speaker 2: That's an incredible point because I called a lot of
[41:27] Speaker 2: college basketball last year, and I do pro. And the
[41:30] Speaker 2: one difference I see is what you just brought up.
[41:32] Speaker 2: Offensive identity. If you watch a college game, Duke don't
[41:35] Speaker 2: play like Carolina, Carolina don't play like Michigan, and Michigan
[41:38] Speaker 2: don't play like Nebraska or whoever else, or Kansas, right?
[41:42] Speaker 2: But you watch an NBA game, everybody plays the same.
[41:45] Speaker 2: But it didn't used to be like that. Because when
[41:48] Speaker 2: we came in the league, the Nets were running to Princeton.
[41:50] Speaker 2: The Lakers were running to Triangle. Then you had Sacramento
[41:54] Speaker 2: running to high post offense. Golden State running gun. Golden
[41:57] Speaker 2: State running gun. Low post offense, cross screens. Dallas 5 out.
[42:02] Speaker 2: Everybody played to their strengths because they said, this is
[42:04] Speaker 2: what we do. And then you know what happened? Everybody
[42:06] Speaker 2: came in with the iPads and everything else and analytics.
[42:11] Speaker 2: And they say, hey, we want to be pacing space
[42:13] Speaker 2: and shoot threes mid-pick-and-roll spread game. The whole NBA plays
[42:17] Speaker 2: like that. So to your point, that's the offense that
[42:19] Speaker 2: we're missing. Offensive identity has left the league.
[42:23] Speaker 3: I love what you said, though, because you said something that, honestly,
[42:26] Speaker 3: even the whole time I played, I don't think I
[42:28] Speaker 3: ever realized that our offense is not meant for the superstar.
[42:32] Speaker 3: It's meant for the– well, if it's going to be
[42:33] Speaker 3: a successful offense, it's actually run for the other guy.
[42:38] Speaker 2: For sure. The star can get hit at any time.
[42:40] Speaker 3: But it's so they are organized when it go down
[42:43] Speaker 3: for the star.
[42:44] Speaker 2: And that's fucking crazy, because I played my whole career.
[42:49] Speaker 2: I always felt like they built this shit for bras.
[42:52] Speaker 3: This shit is for Kyrie like a motherfucker.
[42:55] Speaker 2: It ain't got nothing to do with me. No, it's
[42:57] Speaker 2: for you. It's for me? See, Lou, you did this
[42:59] Speaker 2: for me? No, I don't know. It was for me.
[43:01] Speaker 2: It was for you.
[43:05] Speaker 3: So you knew where to be?
[43:09] Speaker 2: So you knew where to be.
[43:09] Speaker 3: That's some all shit. That's an all shit moment for me.
[43:12] Speaker 3: Because I'm like, you trying to get me out the
[43:14] Speaker 3: way so they can do they shit. That's what I'm thinking.
[43:16] Speaker 3: But it's like, nigga, if I could replay it now,
[43:19] Speaker 3: it's like, bro, I want to be the guy that
[43:21] Speaker 3: they like, let him beat us.
[43:22] Speaker 2: Because I had them.
[43:23] Speaker 3: Games in the playoffs. And it's like, when I look
[43:25] Speaker 3: back on it, it's like, damn, bro, I was pissed
[43:26] Speaker 3: off that game. I was blue.
[43:29] Speaker 2: You was already mad.
[43:30] Speaker 3: Because I'm like, yeah, I'm irritated from two games ago
[43:33] Speaker 3: when I couldn't get off and I'm just standing here.
[43:36] Speaker 2: We done went to the next series.
[43:38] Speaker 3: And then it's like you finally play a game where
[43:39] Speaker 3: it's like they, I done got eight threes this game
[43:42] Speaker 3: and I hit six.
[43:43] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
[43:43] Speaker 3: And it's like, oh, hooray, we closing out.
[43:47] Speaker 2: I'm just now thinking about it like, wow, this nigga T.
[43:49] Speaker 2: Lou set that up for us. For sure. That's crazy
[43:52] Speaker 2: as hell. He knew they was going to be tilted
[43:53] Speaker 2: doing that. You're learning even after basketball. That's sick as hell.
[43:57] Speaker 2: But it take a nigga like Gil to do it.
[43:59] Speaker 2: He was one of them niggas that I thought when
[44:01] Speaker 2: they was building the office. He's looking at it like, nigga,
[44:04] Speaker 2: this shit ain't for me. Right.
[44:13] Speaker 4: But I had looked at I was like wait, how's
[44:16] Speaker 4: the game faster? Shooting we shot what fourteen seven threes
[44:21] Speaker 4: in our day. Yeah averaging a hundred six hundred five
[44:25] Speaker 4: They shooting forty.
[44:26] Speaker 2: To fifty threes.
[44:29] Speaker 4: But averaging 100, 115, 110, there's some games that's motherfucking 95.
[44:34] Speaker 2: Like, how? Oh, your bad shooters are shooting. Exactly. I'm
[44:41] Speaker 2: looking at this, and it's like, well, who else you
[44:42] Speaker 2: wanted to shoot? The nigga I pay. Curry shot seven
[44:50] Speaker 2: threes then. He shoots 10 now. We shoot 40 more
[44:54] Speaker 2: as a team.
[44:55] Speaker 4: He better shoot 25 of them.
[44:59] Speaker 2: I need him shooting.
[45:00] Speaker 4: I don't need Kaminga taking 10 threes, Draymond taking five.
[45:04] Speaker 2: Draymond taking more than Ray Allen took. I need seven steps.
[45:08] Speaker 2: If you're going to take more, shoot them more. I
[45:10] Speaker 2: get it. We need more shots. We need more shots.
[45:12] Speaker 2: So when we go back to a.
[45:13] Speaker 5: Guy like Scottie Barnes, who's shooting a great percentage at
[45:15] Speaker 5: three a game, and now he has to go from
[45:18] Speaker 5: six to eight a game?
[45:19] Speaker 2: Way to go. That's a great callback. That's a great callback.
[45:22] Speaker 6: He's not going from six to eight because Scottie Barnes
[45:25] Speaker 6: knows his game.
[45:26] Speaker 2: There's certain people that know their game. That's right. You
[45:28] Speaker 2: know your game. That's what I'm saying.
[45:30] Speaker 3: Instead of being in the corner, you can backdoor and
[45:33] Speaker 3: get an oomph.
[45:33] Speaker 2: Not for scheme.
[45:35] Speaker 6: Scottie got a different type of skill set athleticism. One
[45:38] Speaker 6: half step, he's at the rim.
[45:40] Speaker 2: True. Long, cold throw.
[45:40] Speaker 6: He's finishing over everybody. When he looks at people, he's like, bro,
[45:43] Speaker 6: that's a seven-footer. That's a baby. I'm going straight to
[45:46] Speaker 6: that rim. I'm going right to the paint. If I'm
[45:48] Speaker 6: Scottie Barnes, I'm still getting eight free throws. There's a
[45:50] Speaker 6: lot of advantages he has to approach a scheme. It's
[45:54] Speaker 6: just trying to be like, yo, they want me to
[45:56] Speaker 6: shoot tonight. They want me to shoot every single night.
[45:58] Speaker 6: And what I'm finna do, he just averaged nine assists
[46:00] Speaker 6: last play.
[46:01] Speaker 2: He's finna go get to it. It's like 24-9 in
[46:02] Speaker 2: the playoff. We'll see when it's a hot.
[46:04] Speaker 5: It's your third. I'm forgetting about that. Once you get it,
[46:07] Speaker 5: once that trap, once you cross half court and that
[46:09] Speaker 5: trap comes, it's hot potato basketball now.
[46:12] Speaker 2: It's not the same rhythm. It's not the same comfort.
[46:15] Speaker 2: It's got to be. Long dribbling. I'm just saying. I
[46:18] Speaker 2: think Scottie's at his best in a full court transition
[46:24] Speaker 2: type of game.
[46:24] Speaker 6: Once it becomes half court, it's a game. But to
[46:27] Speaker 6: get nine assists with that personnel is impressive, true or false.
[46:30] Speaker 6: That's great. He never played with Kawhi.
[46:33] Speaker 2: He's a baby. Nine assists probably won't be the same
[46:36] Speaker 2: with a guy with Kawhi. Kawhi has the ball in
[46:38] Speaker 2: his hands at all times. Six six. It'll go six.
[46:41] Speaker 5: Yeah, so expecting Scottie to still be the same as
[46:44] Speaker 5: a maker. He might go from nine to maybe seven
[46:50] Speaker 5: Changes it.
[46:51] Speaker 2: Oh, you've got this. I'm delivering not it's like you
[46:54] Speaker 2: say I don't believe the lead Distributor I would make
[46:58] Speaker 2: but that's what I'm saying.
[46:58] Speaker 4: Like there's some people their IQ is it was like
[47:02] Speaker 4: Chris Webber, right? Yeah, I We have a point guard,
[47:04] Speaker 4: but the point guard, baby, you shoot. Just give the
[47:07] Speaker 4: ball to big man. Let big man take everything. Same
[47:10] Speaker 4: thing with Scottie. I would want the ball more in
[47:12] Speaker 4: his hands.
[47:13] Speaker 2: Okay.
[47:13] Speaker 4: Because he's more of a willing guy. Because he's a
[47:15] Speaker 4: willing passer. He knows how to pass. He knows what
[47:16] Speaker 4: he's looking for. I don't even know. Where's the two-man game?
[47:21] Speaker 2: I don't know. That's what I'm there for. I'm saying something.
[47:23] Speaker 2: Where's the two-man? A pick-and-roll with Scottie and Kawhi. And
[47:27] Speaker 2: Kawhi is over. That's what I'm saying.
[47:29] Speaker 3: And then when he rolls, they just don't call the
[47:31] Speaker 3: play because nobody else can shoot.
[47:34] Speaker 2: It's an automatic switch. I want an automatic switch. One
[47:37] Speaker 2: has the better defender on him. Switch and get my
[47:39] Speaker 2: defender on you. Let's go. You don't know yet. We
[47:41] Speaker 2: played Calum Murray. And then you got Jacob. He's also
[47:44] Speaker 2: got four of them. At the rim. Porto's out.
[47:47] Speaker 6: Calum Murray balls got to play a lot more.
[47:50] Speaker 2: Porto's just... Paul's warming up. Big fella coming in, bro.
[47:55] Speaker 2: They lost too much. They lost too much. They don't
[47:56] Speaker 2: really get it. I feel like they're going to have
[47:58] Speaker 2: a sneaky shooter.
[47:59] Speaker 5: They're a good team defensively. They're a second option away
[48:01] Speaker 5: from being the championship team.
[48:03] Speaker 2: I stand.
[48:03] Speaker 4: Now, don't try to move the conversation. You want to
[48:05] Speaker 4: talk about the sorry-ass team.
[48:07] Speaker 1: Sufficient Raptors, talk for the game.
[48:08] Speaker 2: We got other things we got to get to. I forgot.
[48:10] Speaker 1: By the way, Gil's Arena is everywhere you want to be,
[48:12] Speaker 1: so shout out to everybody watching the show on Twitch.
[48:15] Speaker 1: If you're watching on Twitch, make sure you follow our
[48:17] Speaker 1: channel at Gil's Arena Show. Appreciate y'all for all the subs.
[48:20] Speaker 1: I'm trying to segue Jay. We've got a lot of
[48:22] Speaker 1: people on the couch. We had our biggest episode of
[48:25] Speaker 1: the week yesterday.
[48:26] Speaker 2: We got to keep it rolling today. Let's keep it
[48:31] Speaker 2: in the Eastern Conference.
[48:32] Speaker 1: Celtics made a blockbuster trade this summer, sending former Finals MVP,
[48:36] Speaker 1: All-NBA wing, and longest-tenured Celtic Jalen Brown to the Sixers
[48:40] Speaker 1: in exchange for nine-time All-Star Paul George. Boston also got
[48:43] Speaker 1: two first and two second-round picks in the deal. PG's
[48:46] Speaker 1: production has been down since signing a four-year, $ 212 million
[48:48] Speaker 1: deal with the Sixers in 2024. Played in 41 games
[48:52] Speaker 1: his first season in Philly, averaging just 16 points per
[48:54] Speaker 1: game while dealing with knee and adductor injuries. His lowest
[48:57] Speaker 1: point per game average since 2013. Appeared in just 37
[49:00] Speaker 1: games last season, which included a 25-game suspension for violating
[49:04] Speaker 1: the league's anti-drug policy. He released a statement saying he
[49:07] Speaker 1: made a mistake by taking an improper medication while seeking
[49:10] Speaker 1: treatment for a personal mental health issue. So PG and
[49:12] Speaker 1: fellow new Celtic Mike Conley Jr. met with the media
[49:15] Speaker 1: on Tuesday for their introductory press conference. PG was asked
[49:18] Speaker 1: his thoughts about dealing with Celtics' frustration in him replacing
[49:22] Speaker 1: Jalen Brown and whether he's still trying to be a
[49:24] Speaker 1: stoop or superstar.
[49:25] Speaker 2: And he had this response.
[49:26] Speaker 8: It's fair to live with that emotion, given what JB
[49:32] Speaker 8: stood for and what he brought in the history, right?
[49:36] Speaker 8: He was a part of raising a banner and winning
[49:39] Speaker 8: the championship here. So I'm not saying that, you know,
[49:43] Speaker 8: that's going to forever stick.
[49:46] Speaker 2: Right. But it's a new group. It's a new opportunity.
[49:50] Speaker 2: And again, I think.
[49:54] Speaker 8: They're getting someone that's ready to, you know, not fill
[49:59] Speaker 8: the shoes or fill the void of JB. But I
[50:02] Speaker 8: think from a personal standpoint of myself, I think I
[50:05] Speaker 8: can come in and kind of still keep us in
[50:09] Speaker 8: that contention and give us a chance to win. Superstar,
[50:13] Speaker 8: we have a superstar, and that's JT. I'm not here to,
[50:20] Speaker 8: you know... not necessarily still the shine or try to reinvent,
[50:28] Speaker 8: you know, who I am. I'm here to help JT
[50:32] Speaker 8: and he's the guy, right? I played alongside another superstar
[50:38] Speaker 8: wing and we coexisted beautifully. And so I see that with,
[50:44] Speaker 8: you know, myself. I see that with JT, being able
[50:48] Speaker 8: to play off him, being able to help him, being
[50:50] Speaker 8: able to kind of still be a mentor. You know,
[50:55] Speaker 8: so that alone, you know, I can play off another
[51:00] Speaker 8: superstar wing and still bring a presence and still be
[51:05] Speaker 8: on the side of doing everything to win.
[51:09] Speaker 1: RPG saw some of you guys, some mixed emotions, reactions
[51:14] Speaker 1: here on the couch.
[51:14] Speaker 2: Brendan, we will start with you. Okay. You appeared to
[51:17] Speaker 2: have the most reaction to that. No, I didn't have
[51:21] Speaker 2: the most reaction. I mean, I love what Paul was
[51:23] Speaker 2: talking about. I just... you know, when he was talking
[51:27] Speaker 2: about this, we know there's one superstar there. Like, you know,
[51:29] Speaker 2: there might have been a... Wait, what? No, we know
[51:34] Speaker 2: there's one superstar. No, I'm just saying, we know, like,
[51:36] Speaker 2: Paul last year's average, like, had a good year, averaged 17.
[51:40] Speaker 2: The year before that, he averaged, like, 16 for Philly.
[51:43] Speaker 2: That's cool, but no one thinks he's about to turn
[51:45] Speaker 2: back the clock and give them what... So, JB had
[51:49] Speaker 2: to be the coldest two-way player in the league. He
[51:52] Speaker 2: is capable of going out there getting 29 and then
[51:55] Speaker 2: he's guarding the guy that's getting 29. He makes that
[51:57] Speaker 2: look easy. It ain't easy. Right. Yeah, that's in shape.
[52:00] Speaker 2: You two guys know how much energy it takes to score.
[52:03] Speaker 2: You've had years where you've averaged 29. You've averaged 29.
[52:06] Speaker 2: Now imagine if you had to do that. Hey, yo,
[52:08] Speaker 2: I need you to go guard the best person on
[52:10] Speaker 2: the other team too. So the fact that JB was
[52:13] Speaker 2: doing that and they're losing that, no disrespect to Paul George,
[52:18] Speaker 2: but he's not coming close at 35 to being that.
[52:21] Speaker 2: I'll take it a step further. Put the stats aside.
[52:25] Speaker 5: That emotional leader within the group, I think that's more
[52:29] Speaker 5: important than any stat that he can bring to the team.
[52:32] Speaker 5: I think they now... And no knock to PG. I
[52:34] Speaker 5: think he's an incredible player. And I actually think he's
[52:36] Speaker 5: going to have a better year than he has the
[52:39] Speaker 5: last two years. But with that being said, they don't
[52:42] Speaker 5: have that emotional leader anymore. I think they now kind
[52:45] Speaker 5: of take the same identity as that Clippers group with
[52:48] Speaker 5: Kawhi and PG. It's the super laid back type of guy.
[52:53] Speaker 5: You know, you gotta go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.
[52:57] Speaker 5: Nobody really wants to hold each other accountable. We don't
[53:00] Speaker 5: want to make anybody upset or uncomfortable. And all of
[53:03] Speaker 5: that is needed in order to get to that level.
[53:06] Speaker 6: But because, I'll cut you off, because I've been around
[53:08] Speaker 6: the Celtics a bit, and sometimes I think, it's kind
[53:11] Speaker 6: of like the KD moment, or like the Tatum, where
[53:13] Speaker 6: he's too nice of a guy. But I've been around
[53:15] Speaker 6: where It's almost been impressive where he doesn't have to
[53:17] Speaker 6: speak too much to really control some of the situations.
[53:20] Speaker 6: I'm talking about even in comparison to J.B.
[53:22] Speaker 2: And J.T.
[53:23] Speaker 6: As much as the emotional leader J.B. was, when Tatum
[53:26] Speaker 6: showed up, everything changed. He didn't have to scream. He
[53:29] Speaker 6: didn't have to do any of that or overly speak.
[53:32] Speaker 6: Even when you look at little things such as them
[53:33] Speaker 6: just lifting after games, how crazy people are with their
[53:36] Speaker 6: routine and everything, that's a Jason Tatum thing.
[53:39] Speaker 2: That's great. And I'm not knocking it.
[53:41] Speaker 5: But he also had that insurance of J.B., With all
[53:43] Speaker 5: that being said, he still had the insurance of JB.
[53:46] Speaker 6: No, you're absolutely right, but I think the conversation and
[53:48] Speaker 6: narrative shouldn't even be that of Paul George. Approaching Paul George,
[53:52] Speaker 6: it's like, yo, it's not his responsibility. We need to
[53:54] Speaker 6: talk about Derek White. We need to talk about Peyton
[53:56] Speaker 6: Pritchard stepping up. Paul George, your team is going to
[53:58] Speaker 6: be great if Paul George is a decent fourth option
[54:00] Speaker 6: like he's been showing the past three or four.
[54:03] Speaker 2: Who the fuck is the second?
[54:05] Speaker 3: Averaging 14 or 15 a game.
[54:07] Speaker 2: I'm asking. Derek White. Derek White. But that's been the
[54:11] Speaker 2: champ of the season.
[54:13] Speaker 3: He was the number two option last year.
[54:17] Speaker 2: He was the number two option last year.
[54:20] Speaker 6: Peyton Pritchard's coming off the bench shooting 18 a game.
[54:23] Speaker 6: Whether you think so or not, bro, he's Paul George,
[54:26] Speaker 6: if he's best, third option. In my personal opinion.
[54:30] Speaker 3: But once you start playing around that program, you just
[54:33] Speaker 3: gave up your first couple options.
[54:34] Speaker 2: It's good to see him even touch on it that humble, though.
[54:37] Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
[54:38] Speaker 3: Because I know he's still got to prove it.
[54:41] Speaker 6: Bro, he know he's been playing like a third option
[54:44] Speaker 6: in the past. That's why I'm just saying.
[54:46] Speaker 3: It's going to be more complimentary playing in the Boston system.
[54:49] Speaker 3: It's going to be more beneficiary to him.
[54:51] Speaker 2: To him. You shoot 53s, and he's a three-point shooter.
[54:54] Speaker 2: He's the second option. That's what I'm saying. He's the
[54:57] Speaker 2: second option.
[54:58] Speaker 3: The second option is going to try to get you
[55:00] Speaker 3: a bucket. You're not trying to lean on.
[55:03] Speaker 2: We're not coming out of timeout.
[55:05] Speaker 3: You're drawing up Paul George and catching shoes now.
[55:07] Speaker 2: Yes, no. But throwing him the ball on the post.
[55:10] Speaker 2: You're out to get him out. Paul George? I wouldn't,
[55:12] Speaker 2: but I know what they're going to do. They can't
[55:14] Speaker 2: do that. What? I know what they're going to do.
[55:16] Speaker 6: Derek White's getting his second most shots. He shoots whatever
[55:19] Speaker 6: he wants.
[55:19] Speaker 2: No, no, that's true. What do you want? That's what
[55:22] Speaker 2: I'm saying.
[55:24] Speaker 4: That's your second option.
[55:27] Speaker 2: Scrap the season. That's what it was last year. But
[55:31] Speaker 2: that's swing, swing shot. That's because J.B. Carey. That's swing,
[55:35] Speaker 2: swing shot. J.T. Finnegan. Did you see how much Derek
[55:38] Speaker 2: White shot last year? But he had you. I'm not knocking. No,
[55:41] Speaker 2: I'll get you over the hump of the playoffs.
[55:43] Speaker 3: So what do you think Paul can do?
[55:45] Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck what JT's literal routine is
[55:48] Speaker 2: after the game. That shit not translated. Hey, man, listen,
[55:52] Speaker 2: we talking about Derek White being the second option. We
[55:56] Speaker 2: talking about what he did last year. Derek White shot 39%
[55:58] Speaker 2: from three and 32% from, I mean, 39% from the
[56:01] Speaker 2: floor and 32% from three. That can't be your second
[56:05] Speaker 2: option if it's going to be champion. Hold on.
[56:08] Speaker 6: So you're telling me you coming in, like, I'm not
[56:11] Speaker 6: knocking either one of them.
[56:12] Speaker 2: I'm just like, bro, Paul ain't been on shit. Wow.
[56:14] Speaker 2: He shot 38%.
[56:15] Speaker 3: Wow.
[56:15] Speaker 2: Wow.
[56:15] Speaker 3: No, no.
[56:18] Speaker 2: Wow, that was aggressive. Wow.
[56:20] Speaker 6: So we can call it. Like, I'm not dissing Paul.
[56:22] Speaker 6: I'm trying to get heat off Paul and being like, yo,
[56:24] Speaker 6: he's probably been a third option for the past few years.
[56:28] Speaker 2: He ain't been healthy in the past few years. He's 37.
[56:31] Speaker 2: We old as hell. It's over. All I'm saying is,
[56:35] Speaker 2: if I'm picking my second option between Darius White and
[56:38] Speaker 2: Paul George. You're cooked. You're cooked. You're absolutely right. You're cooked.
[56:42] Speaker 2: Now I'm going to tell you the reality.
[56:44] Speaker 3: Listen, though, do you realize that Derek White played so good?
[56:53] Speaker 2: I like Derek White.
[56:54] Speaker 3: Listen, though, Derek White played so well last year as
[56:57] Speaker 3: far as.
[56:57] Speaker 2: What they felt like meant to their team. He was
[56:59] Speaker 2: some shit in the playoffs.
[57:01] Speaker 3: As far as what he meant to their team last year,
[57:04] Speaker 3: especially analytically, they felt like.
[57:06] Speaker 2: Don't give me the analytics. I'm not the guy for
[57:07] Speaker 2: the analytics. I'm just telling you the decision that they made.
[57:11] Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck about no analytics.
[57:12] Speaker 3: They gave JB up because they felt like the most
[57:14] Speaker 3: important thing here next to JT is Derek White.
[57:18] Speaker 2: They gave JB up because he's the real alpha in
[57:20] Speaker 2: the room. That's fine. But I'm telling you why analytically... Hey, man,
[57:24] Speaker 2: touch on that. Say that again. Why analytically... Why are
[57:27] Speaker 2: you saying that? How are you mad because a guy
[57:33] Speaker 2: compliments his best season in his eyes and you take
[57:36] Speaker 2: that as a negative? Who took it as a negative?
[57:38] Speaker 2: The Celtics. At the organization they did. Yes, they did.
[57:41] Speaker 3: He carried you the entire season.
[57:44] Speaker 2: For his own personal accomplishment. They said, analytically, Derek White
[57:52] Speaker 2: was better on pitch. No, no, no, that was just bull.
[57:54] Speaker 2: That's why you can't play the game on analytics. They
[57:56] Speaker 2: was trying to trade him for Giannis. Yeah, they couldn't
[57:59] Speaker 2: get him. They had dangled him out there. But once
[58:02] Speaker 2: they fucked it up, then they had to trade him.
[58:04] Speaker 2: Because now you're ruining the relationship. And to the Celtics defense,
[58:07] Speaker 2: I'm not ready for that. I would have never traded
[58:10] Speaker 2: Giannis for Diggs. I'm not mad at that.
[58:13] Speaker 3: They already picked, when they dangled him, they already picked
[58:16] Speaker 3: Derek White.
[58:17] Speaker 6: I mean, I'm saying his body, just body-wise. I'm doing
[58:20] Speaker 6: that all the time. It gives him a different look.
[58:21] Speaker 2: But you're saying Derek White didn't play very well last year.
[58:25] Speaker 2: He shot 32%. You're right. In the playoffs. For the season.
[58:28] Speaker 2: For the season. From 30. And 39 from the floor.
[58:31] Speaker 2: And he was the second option. With all that said,
[58:32] Speaker 2: he was the second option.
[58:33] Speaker 4: And where were they at? It was second all year?
[58:37] Speaker 4: Second all year with that performance.
[58:39] Speaker 2: And you're telling me I can get the same performance,
[58:43] Speaker 2: I get Tatum back, and then I get Paul George,
[58:46] Speaker 2: who's healthy? who's a three-point shooter and an ISO player
[58:49] Speaker 2: with a five-out system, he's averaging 20. I think Paul's
[58:54] Speaker 2: on the best player.
[58:55] Speaker 4: It's a five-out system. He can shoot all the threes
[58:57] Speaker 4: he wants to shoot. He's about to be a 2K player.
[59:00] Speaker 2: I want to see it happen. He's about to be
[59:03] Speaker 2: a 2K player.
[59:04] Speaker 3: I think this is a better system for Paul than
[59:08] Speaker 3: Philly's system.
[59:11] Speaker 2: I know he's going to touch it, but.
[59:12] Speaker 3: We're saying are they going to run plays for him?
[59:15] Speaker 3: You know what the second option is. The second option
[59:19] Speaker 3: means we start in the game. Gil, you get in
[59:21] Speaker 3: the first two shots. And then our second option is
[59:24] Speaker 3: finna get the next three plays so that both y'all
[59:27] Speaker 3: can get going and now we can start the game.
[59:29] Speaker 2: All right, let's try it like this. Since we've been
[59:30] Speaker 2: in here. I'm listening. It goes from Tatum to Paul George.
[59:37] Speaker 2: I like that. And then my next options is who? Pitcher.
[59:42] Speaker 2: Pritchard coming off the bench. But Pritchard going to be
[59:45] Speaker 2: in the game? Who's going to be in the game?
[59:46] Speaker 2: Who else is going to be in the game? Baylor, Shire.
[59:49] Speaker 2: Thank you.
[59:50] Speaker 4: I'm going to just shoot this shit because we're supposed
[59:53] Speaker 4: to be shooting 53s.
[59:54] Speaker 2: So I'm going to shoot it. Do you think the
[59:56] Speaker 2: rest of these three are going to ever complain? No. Listen,
[59:58] Speaker 2: I'm not tripping off him. Listen, I'm not tripping off
[1:00:01] Speaker 2: him in three.
[1:00:03] Speaker 3: When we say a second option, though, look, look.
[1:00:07] Speaker 2: He might. He might. We see what Derek White did.
[1:00:10] Speaker 3: Right?
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: He shoot. He don't. I can shoot all the shots
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: I want. You know what type of freedom that is? Yeah.
[1:00:17] Speaker 4: You're giving Paul George the freedom again. And I need
[1:00:21] Speaker 4: you to shoot 53. 38%, you're our best three-point shooter.
[1:00:24] Speaker 2: And you don't think he's about to come in and
[1:00:26] Speaker 2: take what? 15, 17 shots? He's averaging a dub. He's
[1:00:30] Speaker 2: going to take a bunch of threes.
[1:00:31] Speaker 3: What I'm saying is at the end of the game,
[1:00:33] Speaker 3: at the end of the game, they're not going to throw.
[1:00:35] Speaker 2: Paul George the ball and ask him to just create shit.
[1:00:37] Speaker 2: He's going to average a dub. He's averaging a dub.
[1:00:40] Speaker 2: He's going to average a dub. Can I ask a question?
[1:00:41] Speaker 2: He might. He's going to have a better season.
[1:00:44] Speaker 3: It's going to be more efficient for sure.
[1:00:46] Speaker 2: This system with the Celtics, Compliments him way better than anything.
[1:00:49] Speaker 2: He had it without a doubt. I don't see him
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: as a second. Can I ask y'all a question though?
[1:00:54] Speaker 2: This is offense. This is offense. Hey, because can I
[1:00:56] Speaker 2: ask you a question? When y'all watch the Celtics, whenever
[1:00:59] Speaker 2: they struggle in the playoffs, what's normally been their problem?
[1:01:02] Speaker 2: They're not hitting threes. They're normally not getting threes. Who
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: do they get rid of? Hitting threes. Hitting threes, right.
[1:01:07] Speaker 2: They're going to take them. They're getting them. They're going
[1:01:10] Speaker 2: to get them up. No matter what, they shoot the three.
[1:01:12] Speaker 2: And when that three ball ain't falling, they struggle. But
[1:01:15] Speaker 2: there was one guy that would go in that mempo
[1:01:17] Speaker 2: and get aggressive and go to the cup. And he
[1:01:20] Speaker 2: was playing defense. That guy's no longer there. I love PG.
[1:01:23] Speaker 2: I don't think that he's going to be able to
[1:01:27] Speaker 2: replicate what JB did for them. That's what I'm saying.
[1:01:30] Speaker 2: When we look at them as a championship level team. Champions,
[1:01:33] Speaker 2: like he just said, scrap it. I don't see them
[1:01:36] Speaker 2: as a championship-level team without JB. I love Paul George,
[1:01:41] Speaker 2: but I don't know if he's turning back the clock
[1:01:43] Speaker 2: at 35 being old-school Paul George. I think he's going
[1:01:47] Speaker 2: to get in there with the three-point shooting, too. I
[1:01:49] Speaker 2: know that Jason Tatum, he's going to shoot his threes, too.
[1:01:53] Speaker 2: Who's going to say, nah, I'm going to the basket?
[1:01:55] Speaker 2: Peyton Pritchard?
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: Nah.
[1:01:57] Speaker 2: Derek White? No! So when they struggle, when they come
[1:02:00] Speaker 2: out there with their analytic ball game, we know they're
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: going to play it like that, and they get to
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: shooting them threes. And there's a playoff series where they're
[1:02:08] Speaker 2: not hitting them. When they come to the timeout, they
[1:02:10] Speaker 2: don't have a Jalen Brown no more that's like, I'm
[1:02:12] Speaker 2: going to the cup, y'all follow me. That's why he
[1:02:14] Speaker 2: was the finals MVP. That's why he was also the
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: Eastern Conference finals MVP. Because when stuff got tight, he
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: was the guy! Yeah. You know 32% from Paul George...
[1:02:26] Speaker 2: would have been the worst he ever shot from the
[1:02:28] Speaker 2: three-point line since his rookie season. I'm not worried about
[1:02:31] Speaker 2: him shooting the three.
[1:02:32] Speaker 4: So I don't see a guy like him who is
[1:02:36] Speaker 4: a natural scorer.
[1:02:38] Speaker 2: A natural one. Offensively, they will be better. Offensively. He
[1:02:43] Speaker 2: got to be healthy, too. He's a natural. Do he
[1:02:44] Speaker 2: have a win to do it? He got the talent
[1:02:47] Speaker 2: to do it. Does he have the win? Offensively. Didn't
[1:02:48] Speaker 2: they work with J.B.? Yeah. Oh, no. No. And we're
[1:02:54] Speaker 2: walking off the set. Yeah. What?
[1:02:55] Speaker 3: They're going to be better than when they were with J.B.
[1:02:58] Speaker 2: No way. I think individually for Paul, he's going to
[1:03:01] Speaker 2: have a better season.
[1:03:01] Speaker 3: You feel like they're going to be better with Paul
[1:03:03] Speaker 3: George than J.B.? No.
[1:03:05] Speaker 2: No. No way. Offensively, Paul George? It complements.
[1:03:09] Speaker 3: Paul George's game on a five count?
[1:03:12] Speaker 2: Paul is 37. Huh? Paul is 37. What did he
[1:03:18] Speaker 2: do when he came back from the 25 game? Paul
[1:03:20] Speaker 2: is 37 years old. But the shit he's taken accidentally
[1:03:24] Speaker 2: makes him about 25 again.
[1:03:25] Speaker 3: He can't take it. Nah, bro, when you started taking it,
[1:03:29] Speaker 3: it's over, bro.
[1:03:30] Speaker 2: He turned 36, but that shit, whatever he was taking.
[1:03:32] Speaker 2: He said he got the residue. He came back. He
[1:03:33] Speaker 2: still had the residue in his bag. He still had
[1:03:35] Speaker 2: the residue. All I'm saying is 28.
[1:03:39] Speaker 3: 26, 19, 39, 23.
[1:03:46] Speaker 2: All I'm saying is, all I'm saying is, whatever was there,
[1:03:53] Speaker 2: put it back in. You can't fail another test, though, Gil.
[1:03:57] Speaker 2: You saying he still got the residue? He still got
[1:03:59] Speaker 2: the residue. Just a little bit. I ain't going to lie.
[1:04:01] Speaker 2: I'm playing with him on 2K. It look like he's
[1:04:03] Speaker 2: still moving. If he got any more of that left,
[1:04:08] Speaker 2: I ain't going to lie. If he got some of
[1:04:09] Speaker 2: that left, it's going to be different.
[1:04:11] Speaker 3: But when I look at it, when I look at it,
[1:04:14] Speaker 3: I just see like even when JT came back, like
[1:04:17] Speaker 3: though it's a different hop, it's very complimentary to the playoffs.
[1:04:22] Speaker 3: I think that a lot of stuff that JT get done.
[1:04:26] Speaker 3: Even last year, it was like I could tell his
[1:04:28] Speaker 3: body wasn't ready. He just wanted to play. Then he
[1:04:31] Speaker 3: had to sit out that last game because that was
[1:04:33] Speaker 3: really just a business decision. They didn't want nothing happening
[1:04:36] Speaker 3: like how K did when K wristed. We all wanted
[1:04:39] Speaker 3: him to fight through injury. He wristed, then he was down.
[1:04:41] Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? But seeing JT come back,
[1:04:44] Speaker 3: I was low-key looking at it like, damn, I see
[1:04:47] Speaker 3: why they be at this question all the time of
[1:04:49] Speaker 3: who do you keep? Because it damn near seemed like
[1:04:51] Speaker 3: you holding one back no matter what you do. Because
[1:04:54] Speaker 3: both of them, at the end of games, both of
[1:04:57] Speaker 3: them are nasty.
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: That was perfect together. For sure. They can play two,
[1:05:03] Speaker 2: they can play two and a three or the three
[1:05:05] Speaker 2: and a four.
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: Like it was one of those, it was one of
[1:05:08] Speaker 3: the two groups that did everything.
[1:05:11] Speaker 2: They had the perfect build for each other. But once
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: you dangle, once you dangle, but Are you okay with
[1:05:17] Speaker 2: trading for Yanni? I would have been like Pat Riley.
[1:05:20] Speaker 2: I would have been on my knees. My bad. What?
[1:05:22] Speaker 2: I would have been on my knees. Okay. My bad.
[1:05:27] Speaker 4: I didn't mean to dangle you like that, sir.
[1:05:29] Speaker 2: Real talk. What you need? You need that Black Wall
[1:05:32] Speaker 2: Street shit? I got the Black Wall Street.
[1:05:34] Speaker 4: Whatever you need because there's just some people you just
[1:05:36] Speaker 4: can't trade.
[1:05:37] Speaker 2: Yeah. What he brings... you wish everyone had. What's the idea?
[1:05:43] Speaker 2: Just that toughness. Whatever that toughness is. Chuck it. Whatever
[1:05:47] Speaker 2: that toughness is that says, Luca, he does what? I
[1:05:50] Speaker 2: got him. Right? He's that guy. You can't replace that
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: with Paul George. You can't replace that guy. You just
[1:05:55] Speaker 2: can't replace that guy with a lot of people. But
[1:05:57] Speaker 2: we're just talking about them specifically. What you just said
[1:05:59] Speaker 2: made our point. You can't replace that guy in the
[1:06:02] Speaker 2: finals that was going out there getting finals MVP and
[1:06:05] Speaker 2: guarding Luka with this current version of Paul George. You
[1:06:08] Speaker 2: can't do that. No, no, no. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
[1:06:10] Speaker 2: Who guards now? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Who guards? Huh? Who guards?
[1:06:14] Speaker 2: Who guards? Datum. Derrick White. Derrick White. Yeah, no, you
[1:06:20] Speaker 2: got to do it. I'm just saying that. Paul George
[1:06:23] Speaker 2: still plays defense. It ain't like Jalen Brown. No, it
[1:06:26] Speaker 2: ain't like Jalen Brown, but I don't got to be
[1:06:28] Speaker 2: like Jalen Brown. But that's what we said. I'm not
[1:06:31] Speaker 2: here to replace Jalen Brown. I'm here to show you
[1:06:34] Speaker 2: I still got a little bit left. He definitely said that.
[1:06:36] Speaker 2: I still got a little bit left. He totally said
[1:06:38] Speaker 2: that on the interview. I'm totally not here. That's why
[1:06:41] Speaker 2: he got to say, hold on, God damn it. I'm
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: here to be the best version of myself. I averaged
[1:06:48] Speaker 2: 17 last year, God damn it. I'm giving you 20.
[1:06:51] Speaker 4: If you're looking for 28 or 9, you better trade
[1:06:54] Speaker 4: me for him back.
[1:06:55] Speaker 2: Get yourself good. You know what I'm starting to see
[1:06:58] Speaker 2: a lot in the Eastern Conference, though? We got a
[1:06:59] Speaker 2: lot of teams that don't have that second option star
[1:07:01] Speaker 2: to win a championship. We just talked about Toronto. We
[1:07:04] Speaker 2: don't know if they got it. You go look at Detroit.
[1:07:07] Speaker 2: We don't know if they got it. They don't got it.
[1:07:08] Speaker 2: Now we're looking at Boston. They traded their second. There's
[1:07:11] Speaker 2: a lot of teams in the Eastern Conference that got
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: that first piece. They got that championship level piece. Miami.
[1:07:16] Speaker 2: They don't have it. They don't have it. Whoa, whoa, whoa. Miami.
[1:07:22] Speaker 2: Bam is the second option. Bam was their first option?
[1:07:25] Speaker 2: How he did it? Giannis is the first option. I
[1:07:27] Speaker 2: know that. I'm saying, bro. They was like, Bam. I'm like, dog, Bam. Bam? Nah.
[1:07:32] Speaker 2: It's better than them thinking he was a first. Bam
[1:07:35] Speaker 2: is a tricky player. Look, we got to see how
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: they're going to compliment each other first. We got to
[1:07:39] Speaker 2: see how that's going to work. The 4-5? Bam's smart, man.
[1:07:41] Speaker 2: Before we start talking, one, two. No, no, no. Bam
[1:07:45] Speaker 2: is one of those players, man, if you look at
[1:07:47] Speaker 2: him at one-on-one, you're going to be like, Why he's
[1:07:52] Speaker 2: not aggressive all the time? He's like one of those guys.
[1:07:56] Speaker 2: He got stupid games.
[1:08:01] Speaker 5: It's almost like the LeBron effect. As far as finding
[1:08:05] Speaker 5: the right guys to play next to a force. Giannis
[1:08:08] Speaker 5: is the same exact puzzle.
[1:08:11] Speaker 3: I think Giannis is going to have to become better
[1:08:15] Speaker 3: with passing. But Giannis is a willing passer.
[1:08:20] Speaker 2: He's only had this break.
[1:08:22] Speaker 3: He's only had this break.
[1:08:25] Speaker 2: Only when he's going downhill. Exactly.
[1:08:28] Speaker 3: But now you just have to learn how to go downhill,
[1:08:31] Speaker 3: throw a little floater lob.
[1:08:33] Speaker 2: What year is it for him? It don't fucking matter.
[1:08:35] Speaker 2: It does matter. It does matter. Because a lot of times,
[1:08:38] Speaker 2: a lot of times if you've been doing... Yes, you can.
[1:08:40] Speaker 2: Hold on. A lot of times if you've been doing
[1:08:42] Speaker 2: something for a decade, that means you just might not
[1:08:44] Speaker 2: be good at it. If that was KC, it would
[1:08:45] Speaker 2: have made it work in Milwaukee. Like, if he was
[1:08:48] Speaker 2: willing to change his game, it would have worked in Milwaukee.
[1:08:50] Speaker 2: Change it how?
[1:08:52] Speaker 3: To make that pass you're talking about. A more willing passer.
[1:08:55] Speaker 3: A more willing.
[1:08:56] Speaker 2: He passes once he's totally inside. A more willing passer.
[1:08:59] Speaker 2: You play, Braun passes with anticipation. He's like, all them stories.
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: Giannis passes because he has to. That's all I'm saying.
[1:09:05] Speaker 2: Giannis is going to have to change. Some people can't
[1:09:07] Speaker 2: do what Braun do.
[1:09:09] Speaker 3: They can't do what Luka does as far as hitting
[1:09:12] Speaker 3: the floor.
[1:09:12] Speaker 2: We are gonna do the wind is that way he
[1:09:15] Speaker 2: was winning until he won.
[1:09:17] Speaker 3: I'm not we didn't think yannis was gonna be a
[1:09:18] Speaker 3: lot of.
[1:09:19] Speaker 5: Things went into play but that's not a perfect person
[1:09:22] Speaker 5: motherfuckers on with a size 26 for sure What what
[1:09:24] Speaker 5: big man has yannis had that plays in the bunk
[1:09:25] Speaker 5: never Who that plays in the dark you understand I'm.
[1:09:27] Speaker 2: Saying I Nobody. That's the point. Exactly. So we don't
[1:09:43] Speaker 2: know how it is around him. He might like this shit.
[1:09:45] Speaker 3: He might like getting downhill and saying, instead of having
[1:09:48] Speaker 3: to throw this on target, flip pass to the corner,
[1:09:50] Speaker 3: I kind of like being able to drop it off.
[1:09:52] Speaker 2: And then this man. Y'all got to continue to play downhill.
[1:09:56] Speaker 2: That means Bam's whole game is now perimeter oriented. So
[1:10:01] Speaker 2: it's almost. That's what the dunker spot is for.
[1:10:03] Speaker 3: You can't have y'all playing downhill and Bam in the way.
[1:10:08] Speaker 2: And man, this ain't Milwaukee.
[1:10:10] Speaker 4: Whatever offense they was running down there obviously didn't work.
[1:10:13] Speaker 2: This is Miami. We're going to have a whole new offense.
[1:10:15] Speaker 2: For sure.
[1:10:16] Speaker 3: But I'm saying every time Giannis gets downhill now, it
[1:10:19] Speaker 3: don't have to be spray out to the corner. That
[1:10:22] Speaker 3: if you getting downhill, you can have somebody that knows
[1:10:25] Speaker 3: how to play that baseline.
[1:10:26] Speaker 2: It's like playing high-low. It's the constant rotation. It is Miami.
[1:10:30] Speaker 2: Is that what I'm saying? In Miami, they are smart.
[1:10:33] Speaker 2: They are smart.
[1:10:33] Speaker 3: Bam is now never still, and he's doing the Udonis
[1:10:37] Speaker 3: Haslam shit.
[1:10:38] Speaker 2: It's all relocation. I get it. Setting real screens.
[1:10:41] Speaker 3: Back screens, and now you're dealing with Giannis downhill. A
[1:10:44] Speaker 3: simple pocket pass, and you have to deal with Bam's athleticism.
[1:10:47] Speaker 3: He also can pass.
[1:10:48] Speaker 2: So if Bam is setting the screen, what if they...
[1:10:50] Speaker 2: Bam don't have to set the screen on Giannis. Oh,
[1:10:53] Speaker 2: I was going to say.
[1:10:53] Speaker 6: Giannis could be second side.
[1:10:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, Giannis could be second side. We used to play
[1:10:57] Speaker 2: second side for Braun to get down here. We're not
[1:10:59] Speaker 2: going to let y'all load up. Pat Riley and I
[1:11:01] Speaker 2: are not going to let that happen. But when Milwaukee
[1:11:03] Speaker 2: won it, a lot of this office that you're talking about.
[1:11:05] Speaker 2: Brooke Lopez was shooting. Brooke Lopez. Brooke Holiday.
[1:11:09] Speaker 3: That's what I'm trying to say. Chris Middleton was posing
[1:11:11] Speaker 3: games out. Chris Middleton was posing games out.
[1:11:14] Speaker 2: They don't have that Chris Middleton option in Miami. Because
[1:11:18] Speaker 2: you're right. Sometimes they can let Kawhi... Not Kawhi. Who
[1:11:21] Speaker 2: did they just pick up? Somebody just played. Played. Yeah.
[1:11:25] Speaker 2: Sometimes they can let... They picked up Kawhi. They got Wiggins.
[1:11:28] Speaker 2: They got a good team. They got a good team.
[1:11:31] Speaker 2: Miami's cold, but we're talking about Giannis, right? So when
[1:11:34] Speaker 2: he's getting downhill... There's a reason why at times they
[1:11:37] Speaker 2: were going to Middleton. Because Giannis don't want to shoot
[1:11:40] Speaker 2: that jumper. At all. And he don't want to go
[1:11:42] Speaker 2: to the free throw line late in the game either.
[1:11:44] Speaker 6: Because that's how the playoffs, when he first went to
[1:11:45] Speaker 6: the playoffs, is killing him. So that's why sometimes, depending
[1:11:48] Speaker 6: on the game, the coaching staff in Milwaukee did a
[1:11:50] Speaker 6: great job. Drew Holiday, Middleton. All right, we're going to
[1:11:53] Speaker 6: run that offense through Chris in the mid-post. Miami don't
[1:11:57] Speaker 6: have that option right now.
[1:11:58] Speaker 2: What? They got rid of Tyler. Outside of Giannis? Who
[1:12:01] Speaker 2: they going to run that offense? Norm Powell.
[1:12:03] Speaker 3: Bam!
[1:12:04] Speaker 2: You're acting like Bam ain't one of the coldest one-on-one players.
[1:12:09] Speaker 2: He is a better one-on-one player than Chris Middleton. He's
[1:12:13] Speaker 2: going to have to prove that. Are you serious? I
[1:12:15] Speaker 2: feel like Bam has always been a compliment to me.
[1:12:18] Speaker 2: Who has Bam? Who has Bam?
[1:12:20] Speaker 5: I feel like Bam has been a compliment to me.
[1:12:22] Speaker 2: When did Chris Middleton become a one-on-one player? Why do
[1:12:25] Speaker 2: you just look at me like that? With Giannis. With Giannis?
[1:12:28] Speaker 2: Why is he a one-on-one player? He was a closer,
[1:12:31] Speaker 2: but he wasn't one-on-one. Chris Middleton don't go shake show.
[1:12:34] Speaker 2: He go off actions, he get the ball, he make
[1:12:37] Speaker 2: you pay.
[1:12:37] Speaker 3: We're not talking about like go get it. But that's
[1:12:39] Speaker 3: what he's saying. He's saying Bam can go get it.
[1:12:42] Speaker 2: Who has to guard Bam now when Giannis is there?
[1:12:44] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. It's an easy. Who literally has to?
[1:12:47] Speaker 3: The lower tier big man. But even if Bam gets
[1:12:49] Speaker 3: the ball, they can still crowd. But think about going
[1:12:51] Speaker 3: just play on Giannis. The reason we don't know what
[1:12:55] Speaker 3: Bam has. is because Miami for the last four or five.
[1:13:01] Speaker 2: Years has had, what, all option twos and threes. Jimmy Butler,
[1:13:05] Speaker 2: who is one of those guys that he fills the spots.
[1:13:09] Speaker 2: He had to be a one option.
[1:13:12] Speaker 4: So it's like, okay, Tyler Hero, you're the number one option,
[1:13:14] Speaker 4: so I can do everything. Same thing, so these guys
[1:13:17] Speaker 4: are sacrificing Because some of them are actually two options
[1:13:21] Speaker 4: and three options trying to be one options. So now
[1:13:23] Speaker 4: you have a number one option coming in. So Bam
[1:13:27] Speaker 4: gets to.
[1:13:27] Speaker 2: Go to what he really is. No. Yes. That's not
[1:13:30] Speaker 2: what he really is. A second option guy who can
[1:13:35] Speaker 2: just do a little bit of everything? I don't think
[1:13:38] Speaker 2: there's going to be shit you haven't seen. It's going
[1:13:42] Speaker 2: to have to be. You're going to see the same
[1:13:44] Speaker 2: thing over and over. I get what you're saying. You're
[1:13:47] Speaker 2: going to see the same thing you've been seeing, but
[1:13:50] Speaker 2: now I have a number one option you've got to pick.
[1:13:51] Speaker 2: But I'm saying you're going to have to deal with.
[1:13:54] Speaker 3: I get a secondary score. How you'll see Bam have
[1:13:57] Speaker 3: to score in a lot of different ways. You're going
[1:13:59] Speaker 3: to see Bam do the same four dunks every game.
[1:14:01] Speaker 2: That was the best 4-5 ever. I think our skill
[1:14:04] Speaker 2: set was way different than Bam's and Jan's. Who are
[1:14:06] Speaker 2: you talking about? He was talking about me and AD
[1:14:09] Speaker 2: compared to Bam. That's a good idea. It's kind of
[1:14:10] Speaker 2: the same. Two real guards. No, it's two real guards.
[1:14:13] Speaker 3: No, because they don't have … No, no, no.
[1:14:16] Speaker 2: No, because they don't have … Pick and roll. Hold on.
[1:14:20] Speaker 2: Let him cook. Because y'all don't have horn action.
[1:14:23] Speaker 3: Bro, he's a sick point guard. If you got Bam
[1:14:26] Speaker 3: and Giannis as your horn action, that's.
[1:14:28] Speaker 2: Insane to deal with. Because now your point guard becomes dangerous.
[1:14:32] Speaker 2: One of them is a limited shooter. Me and A.D.
[1:14:35] Speaker 2: weren't limited shooters. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whether Giannis is limited.
[1:14:38] Speaker 2: And we could shoot off the dribble. It's a totally
[1:14:40] Speaker 2: different thing.
[1:14:40] Speaker 3: The whole league this whole time has known we got
[1:14:44] Speaker 3: to back off Giannis and don't let him drive.
[1:14:47] Speaker 2: Who the fuck has stopped it? I'm not talking about that.
[1:14:50] Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying, though. If you run the horned.
[1:14:52] Speaker 3: Offense and now he actually has somebody else that's vicious, too,
[1:14:56] Speaker 3: going downhill.
[1:14:57] Speaker 5: The reason I know it's a problem because even as
[1:15:00] Speaker 5: skilled as me and A.D. was, it was still a
[1:15:02] Speaker 5: dynamic mentality. within that of us playing together, but we
[1:15:05] Speaker 5: had to figure it out. And it was mostly due
[1:15:07] Speaker 5: to the spacing. especially when two guys can do a
[1:15:10] Speaker 5: lot of the same thing.
[1:15:11] Speaker 2: You're going to start to clash at some point. That's
[1:15:14] Speaker 2: what I'm trying to say as far as when it
[1:15:16] Speaker 2: comes to Giannis with the ball. We know he's getting down.
[1:15:18] Speaker 2: They were better shooting pair. They also did the same thing.
[1:15:21] Speaker 2: And we could pass.
[1:15:21] Speaker 4: They were legit.
[1:15:22] Speaker 2: Before he tore his Achilles, he was dead ass hooping
[1:15:24] Speaker 2: like a 6-10 point guard. You're trying to compare it to.
[1:15:37] Speaker 6: Where he's kind of struggling with it, it's just like, man,
[1:15:38] Speaker 6: Giannis and Bam didn't have the same type of ball
[1:15:41] Speaker 6: handle or skill set as those two had. It was
[1:15:43] Speaker 6: literally night and day. That's why it's hard to compare.
[1:15:47] Speaker 6: But they have a different skill. One is a fast
[1:15:49] Speaker 6: break demon. So when he gets the ball, he's gone.
[1:15:51] Speaker 6: But you got to remember, this space is going to
[1:15:53] Speaker 6: be the most... The most Giannis has ever had.
[1:15:56] Speaker 2: Because you still got... You have Clayton Wiggins on the floor.
[1:15:59] Speaker 2: Y'all missing the point. You're not. We're not.
[1:16:01] Speaker 3: This is in Miami. What's the point, Brandon?
[1:16:06] Speaker 2: I love the fact that he brought up him and AD.
[1:16:10] Speaker 2: Because you got two guys, offensively, they get it. They
[1:16:14] Speaker 2: thinking about how to score. When I had to guard Boogie,
[1:16:17] Speaker 2: if Boogie had a quick five buckets early on... boogie
[1:16:21] Speaker 2: knock will end up with 16. If he got a
[1:16:23] Speaker 2: quick 10, boogie will end up with 37. That's the difference.
[1:16:26] Speaker 2: When you watch Bam play, I've seen plenty of games.
[1:16:29] Speaker 2: Bam get out six for six. You come back and
[1:16:32] Speaker 2: you're like, he finished the game six for eight. He
[1:16:34] Speaker 2: finished the game. No, he finished that shit with 80-some points. Bro,
[1:16:36] Speaker 2: that's one game, fam. He's never had like that. Again,
[1:16:39] Speaker 2: you're judging him. That's what the average looks like. I'm
[1:16:42] Speaker 2: not judging him as a number one option. I'm judging
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: him as a guy who's from North Carolina. I've seen
[1:16:46] Speaker 2: him play in high school. I've seen him play at Kentucky.
[1:16:49] Speaker 2: I've seen him play in the league. He does not
[1:16:51] Speaker 2: have the same natural scoring mentality as you two guys. Listen,
[1:16:55] Speaker 2: I'm not saying that he's not going to prove his strength.
[1:16:57] Speaker 2: I don't need him to do that now. I have Giannis.
[1:17:01] Speaker 2: I have Giannis.
[1:17:03] Speaker 4: I have Giannis, and when Giannis is driving, you tell
[1:17:06] Speaker 4: me who the weakest shooter on the team is now.
[1:17:09] Speaker 2: I have Klay. I have Wiggins. Probably Wiggins, right? Wiggins.
[1:17:12] Speaker 2: And then what, DeMitch? DeMitch. So, one, we're playing five
[1:17:17] Speaker 2: out while he's going. You can't do anything. There's no
[1:17:20] Speaker 2: dead weight shooting on that team. And it's a Pat
[1:17:23] Speaker 2: Riley team. And it has a rebounded presence with. It's
[1:17:26] Speaker 2: a Pat Riley team. For sure. Defensively, he's going to switch.
[1:17:32] Speaker 2: I'm just talking about.
[1:17:34] Speaker 3: Bam has to change.
[1:17:37] Speaker 2: Let me say that. I think Bam has all the ability.
[1:17:40] Speaker 2: I'm a fan. Bam got a bag that a lot
[1:17:43] Speaker 2: of people don't even know about. Why don't they know?
[1:17:46] Speaker 2: Because he don't do it.
[1:17:47] Speaker 5: I think he was limited in his role with the
[1:17:50] Speaker 5: old heat. Now, it's something new. I think he has
[1:17:53] Speaker 5: to elevate offensively. And that's the question mark.
[1:17:57] Speaker 2: That's the great area right there.
[1:17:59] Speaker 3: He's saying finally he can settle into that and take
[1:18:02] Speaker 3: a year and say, this is what I need to
[1:18:04] Speaker 3: work on. But he's also playing against a guy that
[1:18:06] Speaker 3: creates so much force that dominates the paint.
[1:18:10] Speaker 2: It's not going to happen this year. In order for
[1:18:14] Speaker 2: this to really, really flourish, and the reason I'm saying
[1:18:16] Speaker 2: this is because I had to do it when I
[1:18:18] Speaker 2: played next to AD. My game became a lot more perimeter-oriented.
[1:18:23] Speaker 2: Bam's game is now mostly perimeter because Giannis is dominating
[1:18:27] Speaker 2: the paint.
[1:18:28] Speaker 6: Even last year, Bam kind of went from the dunker
[1:18:30] Speaker 6: to the corner three and started shooting 34, 35 percent
[1:18:33] Speaker 6: from the corner three. So he has been expanding, and
[1:18:36] Speaker 6: they haven't talked about it because he hasn't been taking
[1:18:38] Speaker 6: so many top threes from.
[1:18:40] Speaker 2: The guard perimeters.
[1:18:42] Speaker 6: But to shoot from that corner and operate from there
[1:18:44] Speaker 6: does give you a different type of look. And then
[1:18:46] Speaker 6: when he wants to come in, pause, but he does
[1:18:48] Speaker 6: take one step and go crazy.
[1:18:50] Speaker 3: But even with that, I don't think.
[1:18:54] Speaker 2: He does have to shoot more corner threes, but it
[1:18:56] Speaker 2: also changes the game.
[1:18:57] Speaker 5: Because if Bam is in the corner, that still allows
[1:19:01] Speaker 5: that big to stay low, which is what you don't want.
[1:19:03] Speaker 5: So you want to bring that big up high to
[1:19:05] Speaker 5: allow Giannis to have that entire paint.
[1:19:07] Speaker 2: Absolutely.
[1:19:08] Speaker 5: So Bam being in the corner, yeah, it may work
[1:19:10] Speaker 5: a couple possessions, but you still, Giannis getting down here,
[1:19:13] Speaker 5: he still has to deal with that help side big.
[1:19:16] Speaker 5: So we want to bring Bam up. We want to
[1:19:19] Speaker 5: put a guard in the corner so it's a small
[1:19:20] Speaker 5: guy at the rim. That's why I'm saying Bam game, offensively,
[1:19:25] Speaker 5: is more perimeter oriented. And what I mean by that
[1:19:27] Speaker 5: is not necessarily the corners. It's the wing in the top. Yeah,
[1:19:30] Speaker 5: so we got it.
[1:19:31] Speaker 2: So now like I'm saying he has to dig into
[1:19:33] Speaker 2: that bag offensively and his whole game has to change.
[1:19:36] Speaker 2: You just went in.
[1:19:38] Speaker 6: We're talking about his whole game has to change after
[1:19:42] Speaker 6: he's been in the league seven eight years.
[1:19:44] Speaker 2: We that's not easy to do. Who is just changing everything?
[1:19:52] Speaker 2: Game you're not changing. This game is unlocking it.
[1:19:54] Speaker 3: Well best The game is the wrong other hero for it.
[1:20:02] Speaker 2: We're not saying you've been to change how I can
[1:20:04] Speaker 2: play You gotta go in that bag.
[1:20:05] Speaker 3: It's just it just requires you to do something else
[1:20:08] Speaker 3: that your skill set already can already I already do.
[1:20:12] Speaker 2: This like when I scored the 83 I was sitting
[1:20:15] Speaker 2: here doing this shit. I Right. So did you watch
[1:20:17] Speaker 2: that game? He was doing what? It coming like he's
[1:20:21] Speaker 2: playing point. He had to get the bitch. I got
[1:20:23] Speaker 2: to dribble up. So. So what happens now is you're
[1:20:26] Speaker 2: going to have Clayton and Mitchell in the corners. Right.
[1:20:29] Speaker 2: Keep the small guys there. Yeah. Giannis is going to
[1:20:32] Speaker 2: be trying to drive. They're going to put Bam where
[1:20:35] Speaker 2: Lopez is. But he can pump fake and actually drive.
[1:20:41] Speaker 4: He ain't just going to sit there and talk. You
[1:20:42] Speaker 4: said he can pump fake. He can pump fake and drop.
[1:20:44] Speaker 4: Bam gets the ball. Bam is gone.
[1:20:46] Speaker 5: The only way him pump fake is working is if
[1:20:48] Speaker 5: you're knocking that bitch down consistently.
[1:20:51] Speaker 2: I scored 83. I scored 83. That's great. You're going
[1:20:54] Speaker 2: to guard me.
[1:20:55] Speaker 6: We're talking so much about the offense, but they finna
[1:20:57] Speaker 6: be dominant defensively. I think We keep talking like a
[1:21:01] Speaker 6: hypothetic 125. This shit going right back down to 90s 103.
[1:21:06] Speaker 2: And it's going, you don't think so? A slow grind game.
[1:21:08] Speaker 2: If I watch 93 points, motherfucker, I'm not watching that game.
[1:21:11] Speaker 2: You said a slow grind.
[1:21:12] Speaker 5: If Miami turns into a slow grind team, That's not
[1:21:19] Speaker 5: good for you.
[1:21:20] Speaker 2: You don't think walk? No half-court with Giannis. You got
[1:21:23] Speaker 2: five shooters. I'm saying but you have the guy that
[1:21:27] Speaker 2: loves to get down here. I said off the rim
[1:21:29] Speaker 2: gets down here and spoke.
[1:21:30] Speaker 6: Credit for how he's going to set up the offense
[1:21:32] Speaker 6: and put them in a right type.
[1:21:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, I got it.
[1:21:34] Speaker 6: You got you got Andrew Wiggins shooting 41%. I think
[1:21:37] Speaker 6: Klay's going to somewhat bounce back. You got some type
[1:21:40] Speaker 6: of players.
[1:21:40] Speaker 2: I'm just saying, at the very least, we're trying to—
[1:21:42] Speaker 2: He's going to shoot the shit out of them. He's
[1:21:44] Speaker 2: going to shoot the real good. He got him some black— Andy, Andy,
[1:21:47] Speaker 2: Andy left her. He's going to bring that boat to town.
[1:21:50] Speaker 2: He's going to bring that boat to town.
[1:21:54] Speaker 5: Dallas ain't got no water, so you know what I'm saying?
[1:21:57] Speaker 6: Oh, but we speaking so much about somebody changing their game,
[1:22:00] Speaker 6: and it's like, all right, bro, what are they going
[1:22:02] Speaker 6: to do from the other side?
[1:22:03] Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying. I like it. Yeah, that's it.
[1:22:06] Speaker 2: I think they're going to run the same game, but they.
[1:22:09] Speaker 6: Have another Detroit-Toronto type of vibe where it's going to
[1:22:12] Speaker 6: be like, yo, they're going to be even crazier on
[1:22:15] Speaker 6: the other side, bro.
[1:22:16] Speaker 2: We... It's going to be a good shit to watch.
[1:22:19] Speaker 2: You don't think Miami could possibly be the number one seed?
[1:22:22] Speaker 2: You tweaked it. Absolutely, I do.
[1:22:23] Speaker 5: I'm saying it's going to be a problem.
[1:22:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, you tweaked it. You tweaked it hard. You tweaked
[1:22:28] Speaker 2: it hard to see? Yeah, wow. Who's going to be
[1:22:31] Speaker 2: the number one seed? I don't know. We already know Philly.
[1:22:33] Speaker 2: We know Philly is not going to play that game.
[1:22:35] Speaker 2: But it is number one. They got so many options.
[1:22:38] Speaker 2: But what I'm saying is it's Jalen Brunson. They got
[1:22:40] Speaker 2: three six men and two second options. But it is
[1:22:43] Speaker 2: number one.
[1:22:43] Speaker 3: The Knicks played statistically the best playoff run we've ever seen.
[1:22:47] Speaker 4: The Knicks played the.
[1:22:48] Speaker 3: Best playoff run we've ever seen, Joe. They're playing such
[1:22:53] Speaker 3: good basketball, Joe.
[1:22:56] Speaker 2: New York is still going to be a great team. No,
[1:22:58] Speaker 2: they're not going to be a number one team. They
[1:22:59] Speaker 2: don't even play that style to be a number one.
[1:23:01] Speaker 3: Okay, cool.
[1:23:01] Speaker 2: Put Detroit back up there.
[1:23:03] Speaker 3: They're not the only team that's trying to find their
[1:23:05] Speaker 3: own game.
[1:23:06] Speaker 2: But that's what I'm saying. K is going to be
[1:23:08] Speaker 2: pissed off. They're not even going to play the style
[1:23:10] Speaker 2: to try to get the spot. Real tall. Straight up.
[1:23:15] Speaker 2: On the first year together, they number one.
[1:23:18] Speaker 5: New York is the only team that doesn't have to
[1:23:21] Speaker 5: change anything about their team.
[1:23:22] Speaker 4: But that's why they won't play. That's why they won't
[1:23:24] Speaker 4: play to try to be the number one seed.
[1:23:27] Speaker 2: I think it'll happen. Because I'm going, I need to
[1:23:29] Speaker 2: rest my, I need to rest Brunson. I think it's
[1:23:31] Speaker 2: going to happen.
[1:23:32] Speaker 4: Remember, I play these guys 40-something minutes, so they're the only,
[1:23:34] Speaker 4: one of the only teams that play a lot of minutes.
[1:23:37] Speaker 4: So you're not going to be trying to kill them.
[1:23:39] Speaker 4: So they're not going to be the number one.
[1:23:40] Speaker 2: No, but the reason they're going to have a shot
[1:23:42] Speaker 2: to be the number one seed, it's not going to
[1:23:43] Speaker 2: be because of the amount of minutes. It's going to
[1:23:45] Speaker 2: be because they have the most continuity. All these other teams,
[1:23:48] Speaker 2: we keep talking about. We keep talking about, is Toronto
[1:23:50] Speaker 2: going to figure this out? Is Miami going to figure
[1:23:52] Speaker 2: this out? Well, we know the Knicks got it figured out.
[1:23:55] Speaker 2: They just got to be healthy.
[1:23:56] Speaker 3: They're just rolling the ball.
[1:23:59] Speaker 2: They know who's going to get the ball where. They
[1:24:01] Speaker 2: know where the shots are coming from. Looking around, seeing
[1:24:04] Speaker 2: who opens. That's the difference in the league between the
[1:24:07] Speaker 2: good teams and the bad teams. The really good teams
[1:24:09] Speaker 2: know exactly what we're going to do when the game
[1:24:12] Speaker 2: is tight in the last five minutes. Bonus, crowd, no. Ref, no.
[1:24:17] Speaker 2: I still in my mind know exactly the plays and
[1:24:20] Speaker 2: where the ball was going to go from when I
[1:24:22] Speaker 2: played at Dallas in 2011. At 42, I know exactly
[1:24:24] Speaker 2: where I was going to be hiding on the baseline.
[1:24:28] Speaker 2: I know Jet going to be setting the screen for
[1:24:29] Speaker 2: Dirk because I know how we had to finish games. Yeah.
[1:24:32] Speaker 2: There's an advantage to that. There's an advantage to knowing
[1:24:35] Speaker 2: how to play. The Knicks have that. That's why they
[1:24:37] Speaker 2: are the favorites to probably be number one in the
[1:24:39] Speaker 2: Eastern Conference. Yes, sir. Gil has the phone. What staff
[1:24:43] Speaker 2: you looking up? Give me that phone. I'm just trying
[1:24:45] Speaker 2: to tell you how they're going to be playing this year.
[1:24:48] Speaker 2: Who do you think number one? Miami. You want me
[1:24:51] Speaker 2: to tell you why? Here you go.
[1:24:52] Speaker 5: How many big maps do you think Giannis is going
[1:24:55] Speaker 5: to play?
[1:24:57] Speaker 2: Giannis is missing games too now.
[1:24:59] Speaker 6: Giannis is going to play. I'm saying Orlando got big.
[1:25:01] Speaker 6: The Wizards are going to be scary.
[1:25:03] Speaker 2: I like the Wizards. The Wizards are going to be scary.
[1:25:06] Speaker 2: I like it. Hey, boy, that boy A.J.
[1:25:10] Speaker 3: Went baseline and finished it like this on the other side.
[1:25:14] Speaker 2: I see A.J. at Summerlee. He damn near my height, too.
[1:25:16] Speaker 2: He not 6'8. That boy's 6'10. He's 6'10 all day.
[1:25:17] Speaker 2: I was looking at him like, hold on, dog. He
[1:25:19] Speaker 2: did some shit. I was like, wait, hold on. At 6'10, too.
[1:25:33] Speaker 2: Get what you got for us.
[1:25:34] Speaker 3: It was the movement he did before.
[1:25:36] Speaker 2: Get what you got for us. Because we talk about teams.
[1:25:40] Speaker 2: We don't talk about organizations.
[1:25:43] Speaker 4: So you're telling me Pat Riley can go to the
[1:25:45] Speaker 4: finals with Tyler Hero as the number one scorer, Bam,
[1:25:51] Speaker 4: Jimmy Butler third, then you got Kyle Larry, Caleb Martin, Max, Victor, Gabe,
[1:25:58] Speaker 4: old-ass Kevin Love, Hayward, Highsmith, don't even know who that is.
[1:26:02] Speaker 2: Duncan Robinson, Cody Zeller. So you're saying they can go
[1:26:06] Speaker 2: to the finals with this team, an AAU team, and
[1:26:10] Speaker 2: you say he has a real juggernaut over there. Hold on,
[1:26:12] Speaker 2: hold on. I got a question on that. Hold on,
[1:26:14] Speaker 2: let me jump in. Every championship Pat Riley's had, And one,
[1:26:19] Speaker 2: he's had a freak of nature on his team. Yeah.
[1:26:22] Speaker 2: And he just got another one. The first thing you
[1:26:24] Speaker 2: just said, though, was you said, who can be the
[1:26:26] Speaker 2: number one seed? And then you read those stats. That
[1:26:28] Speaker 2: same team that you were talking about was the eighth seed.
[1:26:31] Speaker 2: Which one? That one. That should have been. That's what
[1:26:34] Speaker 2: I'm saying. They should have been the AFC. You said
[1:26:37] Speaker 2: they were going to finish. But why was the AFC?
[1:26:39] Speaker 2: Got injured, right? No, because even when Jimmy was there,
[1:26:43] Speaker 2: they were AFC. They were the AFC. They've been in
[1:26:45] Speaker 2: the play-in for like the last three years, Gil. Miami,
[1:26:47] Speaker 2: even when they were going to the championship, they were
[1:26:49] Speaker 2: a play-in team. They're bubble buddies. Yeah. That's what I
[1:26:52] Speaker 2: was going to ask.
[1:26:53] Speaker 6: They're not really hitting on shit for real.
[1:26:57] Speaker 2: Based off the casuals, when it comes to that bubble,
[1:27:00] Speaker 2: you brought up Miami. Mm-hmm.
[1:27:01] Speaker 5: Based off the casuals, they say the Lakers... He was
[1:27:04] Speaker 5: the number one seed. But on the other end, what
[1:27:07] Speaker 5: Miami did is credited.
[1:27:09] Speaker 2: Why is that? Why isn't there considered a fluke? They
[1:27:11] Speaker 2: hate LeBron, but you know that. Wait a minute. What
[1:27:13] Speaker 2: was considered a fluke? The Lakers winning the championship 2020. No.
[1:27:16] Speaker 2: Bubble year. It was considered a fluke by the casuals.
[1:27:19] Speaker 2: You hear what I'm saying? It might be the toughest championship.
[1:27:21] Speaker 2: I'm agreeing. Like, just stop your body.
[1:27:23] Speaker 3: I got to win from that season, so I'm going
[1:27:26] Speaker 3: all out. And then come back and rev it up
[1:27:28] Speaker 3: to playoffs with no fans?
[1:27:29] Speaker 2: I'm just making sure. No fans?
[1:27:31] Speaker 6: That's what Dane said. Dane said it was like, it's
[1:27:33] Speaker 6: just mentally, like the show.
[1:27:35] Speaker 2: To see people flourish in that, I'm like, oh no,
[1:27:37] Speaker 2: he a real murderer. TJ Ward was driving 50s in
[1:27:39] Speaker 2: that motherfucker.
[1:27:39] Speaker 3: He's really sick in his head because there's no energy there.
[1:27:42] Speaker 2: You got to create your own space.
[1:27:44] Speaker 3: That's like a guy that go in practice and just
[1:27:46] Speaker 3: pay you up.
[1:27:47] Speaker 2: That was the best hoop we've seen. That's crazy as hell.
[1:27:50] Speaker 1: It's refreshing to hear you say that. A lot of
[1:27:52] Speaker 1: haters really just because LeBron won. Anybody else wins. I
[1:27:54] Speaker 1: really hate that people do that.
[1:27:55] Speaker 3: That might be one of the most coldest championships ever.
[1:27:58] Speaker 2: For him to be as old as he is. I agree.
[1:28:01] Speaker 2: Shut his body down.
[1:28:02] Speaker 3: They basically told everybody the season was over.
[1:28:05] Speaker 2: You take away home court advantage, right? It's all the way.
[1:28:09] Speaker 2: It's all fans. Everybody gets to cheer both sides. No,
[1:28:12] Speaker 2: electronic fans. Electronic fans. I was during coach. I was cheering.
[1:28:16] Speaker 2: I was during coach. I was a speaker. I never
[1:28:21] Speaker 2: heard nothing. It was quiet. Ref said, you can't boo
[1:28:26] Speaker 2: us or you can't have part of it. Ref, you suck.
[1:28:30] Speaker 2: So it was a great environment for everybody to be happy.
[1:28:34] Speaker 2: No pressure. No pressure from nothing. No free throw pressure.
[1:28:37] Speaker 2: I heard all the shit. The best of the best
[1:28:39] Speaker 2: go around. It was a lot of trash talk. It
[1:28:41] Speaker 2: was a lot of trash talk.
[1:28:44] Speaker 3: And I was honestly blown away that there wasn't a
[1:28:47] Speaker 3: lot of text thrown because they were saying all type
[1:28:49] Speaker 3: of crazy shit. It's just because there was no fans,
[1:28:52] Speaker 3: they were just letting it ride because that was the
[1:28:53] Speaker 3: only energy there.
[1:28:55] Speaker 2: The global pandemic. I feel like it was the coldest championship.
[1:28:57] Speaker 2: I would have loved to play in the bubble. Real hoopers.
[1:29:01] Speaker 2: I would have liked to play in a real hoop.
[1:29:03] Speaker 2: That's a different Lockheed.
[1:29:04] Speaker 4: The real hoop was that bubble, but because he wanted
[1:29:08] Speaker 4: everybody this. Jokic lost in the bubble.
[1:29:11] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[1:29:11] Speaker 2: And back fucking MVP, MVP. Giannis... Y'all just had a
[1:29:16] Speaker 2: double-double every game besides the one he got injured in.
[1:29:19] Speaker 2: He went to the championship next year. Devin Booker, right?
[1:29:22] Speaker 2: He went to.
[1:29:24] Speaker 4: The championship next year. That's where Spider-Man was created. That's where,
[1:29:28] Speaker 4: who else came from?
[1:29:30] Speaker 2: Jokic. I mean, not Jokic, but... Bubba Murray? No, Bubba
[1:29:33] Speaker 2: Murray came from there. T.J. Warren scored 50. He was
[1:29:37] Speaker 2: the only one that lost. Luka. What Luka did to
[1:29:41] Speaker 2: the Clippers.
[1:29:43] Speaker 4: All of the real hoopers who hooped there, when they
[1:29:46] Speaker 4: came out of there, they were a whole different beast.
[1:29:49] Speaker 2: Yeah. You ain't lying. You ain't lying. That bubble shit
[1:29:54] Speaker 2: was hard.
[1:29:54] Speaker 5: Chris Paul was on that OKC team.
[1:29:56] Speaker 2: Shea elevated after that. And we didn't really hear about it.
[1:30:01] Speaker 2: After the bubble. sitting in the hotel just thinking about who. Yeah.
[1:30:06] Speaker 3: Y'all can maybe go back and watch that whole bubble.
[1:30:08] Speaker 3: That was some good bumps. That was some great bumps.
[1:30:10] Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. Whoever the casuals are that went
[1:30:14] Speaker 3: out here.
[1:30:14] Speaker 2: It's a lot of them. Like you said, it's still
[1:30:17] Speaker 2: from April. That was good bumps.
[1:30:18] Speaker 3: The fucking don't.
[1:30:20] Speaker 2: That's the hit. The only reason they say it don't count,
[1:30:23] Speaker 2: like you said, is because of Braun. Every other championship
[1:30:26] Speaker 2: during the pandemic counted. They say Tom Brady's championship counted.
[1:30:29] Speaker 2: I think, who wasn't? Baylor in college, they won it.
[1:30:32] Speaker 2: Everybody else's championship counted except for Braun. That's because all
[1:30:37] Speaker 2: the people, they all had the clippers. They all said
[1:30:40] Speaker 2: the Clippers was going to win, and.
[1:30:42] Speaker 3: That's, well, when they all lost, it was like, oh.
[1:30:45] Speaker 6: I said, buddy, he's going to average 20. He had
[1:30:47] Speaker 6: a dude in his highest of his prime. I was
[1:30:49] Speaker 6: just thinking about hooping. He's going to go to the Celtics.
[1:30:52] Speaker 2: And average 20. And change the world. He's going to
[1:30:55] Speaker 2: average a dog. He's going to change the world. I
[1:30:57] Speaker 2: just said he's going to average 20. He picked Sean.
[1:31:00] Speaker 2: One man can change the world. I'm not putting no
[1:31:02] Speaker 2: name on it. Yes, you did. I'm saying, though, bro,
[1:31:05] Speaker 2: think about it, bro. If you go to the Clippers,
[1:31:07] Speaker 2: you don't hooper shit, bro. They should have won a
[1:31:10] Speaker 2: championship during that time. Who? The Clippers.
[1:31:12] Speaker 6: You don't think the Clippers should have won a championship
[1:31:16] Speaker 6: during that time?
[1:31:17] Speaker 2: I do.
[1:31:18] Speaker 3: They had a good coach. They had Kawhi, Paul, George.
[1:31:21] Speaker 3: I'm just saying.
[1:31:23] Speaker 2: I saw the matchup that year between the Lakers and Clippers.
[1:31:25] Speaker 2: But you got to remember, right before the bubble, Clippers
[1:31:29] Speaker 2: was bumping. Clippers was bumping.
[1:31:32] Speaker 1: The Lakers beat the Clippers right before the season ended.
[1:31:36] Speaker 4: You're talking about getting shut down and sat in a gym.
[1:31:39] Speaker 4: with a bunch of NBA players who lives lifestyles, right?
[1:31:44] Speaker 4: So we have players that their pregame is go to
[1:31:46] Speaker 4: the club.
[1:31:47] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:31:47] Speaker 3: Right?
[1:31:48] Speaker 2: Go to strip club, go to the club, and that's
[1:31:50] Speaker 2: how they... Now you're saying, no, you can't do that
[1:31:52] Speaker 2: sit here. That changed his game. Right? So now you're
[1:31:55] Speaker 2: talking about just straight hoop, and you're talking about a
[1:31:57] Speaker 2: Clipper team... Think about that Clipper team. That Clipper team.
[1:32:02] Speaker 4: Got to sit in the hotel and just think about basketball.
[1:32:04] Speaker 2: I'm sorry, brother. I hoop like Paul George and I
[1:32:06] Speaker 2: got Kawhi.
[1:32:07] Speaker 6: On my team, I'm winning the championship. I hoop like
[1:32:09] Speaker 6: Paul George and I got Kawhi on my team, I'm
[1:32:11] Speaker 6: winning the championship no matter what's going on, brother. That
[1:32:14] Speaker 6: Clippers team was too good to lose.
[1:32:16] Speaker 2: That Clippers team had flaws. Now this is outside. They're
[1:32:19] Speaker 2: going to do their outside world life. Cool. Cool. But
[1:32:22] Speaker 2: you're talking about sitting here and just think about hoop.
[1:32:25] Speaker 2: And now you got LeBron. You're playing against LeBron. And
[1:32:27] Speaker 2: that's his world. Got to go home. You ain't going out.
[1:32:29] Speaker 2: You ain't going out. We're going to focus. We're going
[1:32:31] Speaker 2: to sit down. That's. You got to see him every
[1:32:33] Speaker 2: day at the hotel pool? Everybody else over there. Hey, man,
[1:32:35] Speaker 2: can we get the girls in another hotel? Can we
[1:32:37] Speaker 2: get one? That's a skill, locking in. That's a skill.
[1:32:41] Speaker 2: That's a skill. That's a skill. We know who the
[1:32:44] Speaker 2: best at it. Whoever the fans are that said that bubble,
[1:32:47] Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, that's some bullshit. That's a raw-ass trophy.
[1:32:49] Speaker 2: I ain't going to lie. Can we see they all
[1:32:50] Speaker 2: at the hotel pool? Oh, there's a lobby. Huh? In
[1:32:53] Speaker 2: the hotel pool in the lobby. Hotel pool, all dudes
[1:32:55] Speaker 2: is crazy. I know one team who would do that.
[1:32:58] Speaker 2: Hotel pool, all guys is insane behavior.
[1:33:02] Speaker 1: But I'm saying you got to see him. You got
[1:33:05] Speaker 1: to see him. You mind your business trying to go fishing.
[1:33:07] Speaker 1: There's LeBron.
[1:33:08] Speaker 2: Wheelies. Beach cruiser.
