[0:13] Speaker 1: David arrived in Oak Creek Village, a charming, sleepy California
[0:17] Speaker 1: town with a bloody history. Despite Meka's misgivings about their
[0:22] Speaker 1: new landlord, Johannes Latimote, David convinced her that renting a
[0:27] Speaker 1: bungalow home from him would be the answer to their problems.
[0:31] Speaker 1: But their arrival got off to a frightening start after
[0:34] Speaker 1: their cat, Max turned up in the creek, nearly drowned
[0:38] Speaker 1: and covered in blood sucking leeches. The couple befriended odd
[0:42] Speaker 1: ball neighbors Missus White and her brother, doctor Daniels. In
[0:47] Speaker 1: an unbelievable revelation, Missus White alleged that Johannes was a
[0:51] Speaker 1: whopping one hundred and fifteen years old. Things took a
[0:55] Speaker 1: nasty turn at Johannes's birthday dinner, where Mika and David
[0:59] Speaker 1: metnah Is freaky family had witnessed disturbing details about his

[2:05] Speaker 4: Mika. We're gonna make everything back and more.
[2:09] Speaker 1: David chunks his coffee, kisses Mika. She's pleasantly surprised by
[2:13] Speaker 1: his good mood. He walks away a light buoyancy in
[2:17] Speaker 1: a stride. Interior bathroom day David, disheveled, unshaven, sits on
[2:24] Speaker 1: the toilet, staring at his phone. He reads an article
[2:28] Speaker 1: with the headline bro Coin and Jeopardy technical challenge is
[2:32] Speaker 1: derail crypto's startup Shit super Day one eighty. David flushes
[2:40] Speaker 1: the toilet and washes his hands at the sink. His
[2:43] Speaker 1: phone buzzes. It's Brandon. He picks up, Yo, you've got
[2:49] Speaker 1: a chill.
[2:50] Speaker 7: The chill ship has sailed. This is amateur hour stuff.
[2:53] Speaker 7: We're gonna spook the investors.
[2:55] Speaker 4: The blockchain tech ran into some issues.
[2:57] Speaker 6: Are guys telling me the transaction times are back up?
[3:00] Speaker 1: You're sure the sink is stopped up? David removes the
[3:03] Speaker 1: drain stopper.
[3:04] Speaker 6: Uh, that article is from a BS blog no one
[3:08] Speaker 6: cares about.
[3:09] Speaker 1: David reaches into the drain, pulls out a soggy clump
[3:13] Speaker 1: of hair. He makes a face.
[3:15] Speaker 7: Hello, Yeah, I'm here. The drain is clocked again. I
[3:22] Speaker 7: need you to understand. I put my entire savings into this.
[3:27] Speaker 7: Mika doesn't know.
[3:28] Speaker 4: So this is it. This has to work and it will.
[3:33] Speaker 6: Trust me.
[3:34] Speaker 4: Famous last words. I'll see you in a couple hours.
[3:38] Speaker 1: David hangs up the phone and steps outside the bathroom.
[3:41] Speaker 4: Miga, do we have any more DRAINO? We're out?
[3:44] Speaker 5: Want me to go get some?
[3:46] Speaker 4: Forget it, I'm gonna shower.
[3:49] Speaker 1: David closes the door, turns on the shower faucet, and undresses.
[3:53] Speaker 1: He steps into the shower. He lathers up, washes his
[3:57] Speaker 1: body and face. His eyes closed, he can't see a black, red,
[4:03] Speaker 1: gooey blob slowly squeezing through a shower head hole. It
[4:07] Speaker 1: looks like a blood clot. David remains oblivious, washes his
[4:12] Speaker 1: hair as the blob makes its way out with the
[4:14] Speaker 1: water flops onto David's head. He rubs it as he shampoos,
[4:19] Speaker 1: still not noticing. The blob slides down David's back, buttocks
[4:24] Speaker 1: and legs. It drops to the shower floor right under
[4:28] Speaker 1: David's feet. Squish. David slips and falls. The back of
[4:33] Speaker 1: his head slams on the tile wall. Dazed, he touches
[4:37] Speaker 1: the back of his head blood. The blood flows away
[4:41] Speaker 1: from him into the drain. Finally, David notices the blob.
[4:47] Speaker 1: It notices him too. What the The blob soaks in
[4:53] Speaker 1: David's blood, drinking David watches horrified. His hand over his
[4:58] Speaker 1: mouth has its fill, then slides down the drain with
[5:02] Speaker 1: a water interior kitchen day. Agitated with a bandage around
[5:08] Speaker 1: his head, David paces the kitchen. Johannes's voice is on
[5:13] Speaker 1: his cell speakerphone.
[5:15] Speaker 7: Leach in a shower or something, leech like, I'll stop
[5:20] Speaker 7: by tomorrow, Okay, but we're having guests over tonight. It
[5:24] Speaker 7: could be dangerous.
[5:26] Speaker 4: My invitation must have gotten lost in the mill along.
[5:31] Speaker 1: With the rent.
[5:32] Speaker 4: Let us pay online and you'd have your money right now, always,
[5:37] Speaker 4: and what's convenient for you. That's not fair.
[5:40] Speaker 1: Fair?
[5:42] Speaker 4: Fair is its You only call me when you need something,
[5:47] Speaker 4: you have complaints, or watch something fixed. You're the landlord.

[5:53] Speaker 1: Johannes goes silent for a beat dial tone. Interior living
[5:59] Speaker 1: room night. Post dinner, David and Mika play a half
[6:04] Speaker 1: ass game in Monopoly with their guests Brandon and is
[6:07] Speaker 1: on again off again girlfriend Ava Yoshi twenty five. She's
[6:11] Speaker 1: way too good for him.
[6:13] Speaker 5: That's the last time you get to be the banker.
[6:16] Speaker 6: What do you mean?
[6:17] Speaker 5: I saw you swipe a fifty.
[6:18] Speaker 6: It'll be a narc Cheating's the point.
[6:21] Speaker 1: Mika stands up with her empty wineglass.
[6:23] Speaker 3: Anyone want more wine?
[6:25] Speaker 5: Yes?
[6:25] Speaker 4: Please?
[6:26] Speaker 6: If by wine you mean tequila, yes.
[6:29] Speaker 1: Mika rolls her eyes heads to the kitchen.
[6:32] Speaker 5: This place is so cute, cozy.
[6:34] Speaker 4: Thanks Ava, we really like it.
[6:37] Speaker 6: Yes, not as bad as I picture. I'll say that.
[6:39] Speaker 5: Twenty minutes to the beach, forty five to la. I'm
[6:43] Speaker 5: gonna move here.

[6:47] Speaker 1: Mika returns with a new bottle of red wine.
[6:50] Speaker 3: Living the dream.

[6:54] Speaker 1: Mika hesitates a beat too long. Brandon catches the look
[6:57] Speaker 1: she shoots David.
[6:58] Speaker 6: Hey, I saw that. What something's a missin Paradise?
[7:04] Speaker 1: What is it?
[7:05] Speaker 3: Not our landlord?
[7:07] Speaker 5: What about your landlord's cho Which is it?
[7:12] Speaker 3: He's a freak, not in a quirky way either.
[7:15] Speaker 4: The guy's a little intense.
[7:17] Speaker 2: Don't downplay it. He watched us, watched you what David

[7:22] Speaker 1: Interior Kitchen day flashback. Mika and David make out in
[7:28] Speaker 1: the kitchen, passionate, heavy petting.
[7:31] Speaker 3: It was last week he showed up unannounced late afternoon.
[7:35] Speaker 1: Johanna stands outside stares into the kitchen window with desirous,
[7:39] Speaker 1: intense eyes. Mika's lids flutter open, making eye contact with
[7:45] Speaker 1: johannas horace spreads across her face. Oh my god, Mika
[7:50] Speaker 1: scrambles to close her unbuttoned blouse. David turns around to
[7:53] Speaker 1: see Johanna still standing outside, grinning. Interior living room night
[7:59] Speaker 1: back to present. Mika is disgusted as she recounts the story.
[8:03] Speaker 3: And then he just got into his truck like nothing happened.
[8:07] Speaker 5: So he's some kind of stalker.
[8:09] Speaker 6: Sounds like he enjoys a free show.
[8:11] Speaker 1: Ava elbows Brandon in the ribs.
[8:14] Speaker 2: He just shows up whenever he wants, but refuses to
[8:17] Speaker 2: do any of the repairs.
[8:18] Speaker 3: Like today, he straight up told us he wasn't gonna
[8:20] Speaker 3: fix the dream.
[8:21] Speaker 4: He's old school.
[8:22] Speaker 5: David. There's leeches in the dream.
[8:25] Speaker 3: They drank your blood.
[8:27] Speaker 6: YEA, glad we opted for the hotel.
[8:30] Speaker 5: Why are you still living here another six months on
[8:33] Speaker 5: the lease? Break it? It's not worth it.

[8:46] Speaker 1: Miga nods. Joyce spreads across Ava's face. She squealed, jumps
[8:51] Speaker 1: up and tackles Mega with a hug out of wedlock.
[8:55] Speaker 6: But what will the neighbors say?
[8:57] Speaker 2: Johanns is certainly excited. Any time a baby is mentioned.
[9:01] Speaker 2: He makes this little whimpering, moaning sound, as if he's hungry.
[9:06] Speaker 1: For a moment. The room goes silent, Then doorbell ding dongs. Jumpy,
[9:12] Speaker 1: the group goes tense. They look at each other another
[9:16] Speaker 1: ding dong.
[9:17] Speaker 3: Mika stands up, guys, it's a doorbell.
[9:20] Speaker 1: Mika goes to the front door. Front door, She looks
[9:25] Speaker 1: into the peep hole. Johanna's massive, unmistakable body stands on
[9:29] Speaker 1: the porch. He holds up a toolbox, smiles wide. Interior
[9:33] Speaker 1: living room. Later, the group sits perturbed as Johannes bangs
[9:39] Speaker 1: and clangs in the bathroom.
[9:41] Speaker 6: What don't you tell us Hagrid was your landlord?
[9:44] Speaker 1: He slaps his knee in amusement. Ava rolls her eyes.
[9:48] Speaker 3: He can't keep doing this.
[9:49] Speaker 4: I'll talk to him tomorrow.
[9:51] Speaker 1: Johannes enters the living room, toolbox in hand.
[9:54] Speaker 7: All better, What about the bugs, didn't see any Thanks
[9:58] Speaker 7: for coming by at ten pm.
[10:02] Speaker 4: This generation, you can't wipe your grasses.
[10:06] Speaker 1: Johanna smiles, orange yellow teeth gleaming. He notices the abandoned
[10:11] Speaker 1: game of Monopoly on the coffee table.
[10:14] Speaker 3: Monopoly, Thanks again, I'll walk you out.
[10:17] Speaker 4: I'd love to join.
[10:19] Speaker 6: Sorry, bro, we're not playing anymore.
[10:21] Speaker 1: Johannes's smile drops. He stares at Brandon, intimidating.
[10:26] Speaker 4: Worried an old man might beat you.
[10:30] Speaker 1: Interior living room Later, Johannes rolls the monopoly dice. He's
[10:36] Speaker 1: totally engrossed by the game. The others sit around board
[10:40] Speaker 1: and tired. He moves his piece eight spaces, lands on boardwalk.
[10:45] Speaker 1: He claps like a thrilled animated.
[10:47] Speaker 4: Child boardwalk and doubles. That means I roll again.
[10:55] Speaker 1: Johanna shoves monopoly money at Brandon.
[10:57] Speaker 6: Whoop.
[10:57] Speaker 2: See Johanna's We're super tired and our friends need to
[11:01] Speaker 2: be going.
[11:01] Speaker 1: So he looks to the other three for support.
[11:04] Speaker 5: Yeah, it's about that time.
[11:06] Speaker 4: No, we're just getting started. Can I grab your water
[11:10] Speaker 4: for the road?
[11:10] Speaker 1: Johanns ignores them, counts as leftover money. I hope you're
[11:14] Speaker 1: still not upset about the other day.
[11:17] Speaker 4: It's nice to see a young couple in love, but
[11:20] Speaker 4: I have to ask, what's the point? What do you
[11:25] Speaker 4: mean you can't have children, so what's the point of intercourse?

[11:43] Speaker 1: Johannes waves her away, rolls the dice again. He moves
[11:46] Speaker 1: his piece to a property with a red hotel branded
[11:49] Speaker 1: Smirks smug.
[11:51] Speaker 6: That'll be three hundred and forty dollars.
[11:53] Speaker 1: Johannas counts his money, his face false. It's not enough.
[11:58] Speaker 6: Looks like you're gonna need to gets property or you
[12:02] Speaker 6: get me boardwalk. Don't call it even that's my property,
[12:06] Speaker 6: not anymore, dude.
[12:07] Speaker 1: Brandon takes the Boardwalk card. Johanna snatches it back.
[12:11] Speaker 4: It's my property.
[12:13] Speaker 5: It's just a game.
[12:15] Speaker 4: Your existence is a game, you simple little bitch.
[12:18] Speaker 6: Hey, get out of her face.
[12:20] Speaker 1: Mika looks to David, who stares blankly at the scene.

[12:26] Speaker 1: Frustrated, she steps in between Johannas.

[12:33] Speaker 4: Not welcome on my own property.

[12:39] Speaker 1: Johannes looks around at the four pair of eyes staring
[12:42] Speaker 1: at him. He heads to the front door throws Brandon
[12:45] Speaker 1: a dirty look. Interior Johanna's truck Night. Johanna sits on
[12:51] Speaker 1: his truck. Rather, Johanna sits sorry, yeah, he says upon
[12:56] Speaker 1: it at the very top of the truck. Seething, Johanna
[13:00] Speaker 1: sits in his truck seating. He glares at the bungalow,
[13:03] Speaker 1: his eyes bulging from their sockets, as his whole body trembles.
[13:07] Speaker 1: He's sweaty too. Sweat pours down his face, his clothes
[13:12] Speaker 1: soaking wet. He clinches his jaw and grinds his teeth
[13:15] Speaker 1: hard in a circular motion. It sounds like sandpaper.
[13:20] Speaker 4: It mighty.
[13:24] Speaker 1: Finally, he starts the car and drives away. Interior the bungalow. Night.
[13:31] Speaker 1: Brandon and Ava put on their coats and gather their things.
[13:34] Speaker 1: David hovers disappointed.
[13:37] Speaker 4: I thought we were going to talk. Bro Coin.
[13:40] Speaker 6: Come out of the towel.
[13:41] Speaker 1: In the morning. Brandon pats David's shoulder. He waves to Mika,
[13:45] Speaker 1: who stands at the end of the hall, arms crossed.

[13:52] Speaker 1: Mika nods with a strained smile. Interior exterior car moving
[13:58] Speaker 1: Canaan doom road night. Brandon drives on the windy dark road.

[15:34] Speaker 1: figure stands in the road. Brandon slams the brakes, comes
[15:38] Speaker 1: to a screeching halt. Bulky but remarkably spry and agile,
[15:42] Speaker 1: the figure runs across the road and disappears into the bushes.
[15:46] Speaker 5: What the hell was that?
[15:49] Speaker 6: Should I go.
[15:50] Speaker 5: Look, it's not like you hit him.
[15:53] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[15:55] Speaker 1: Brandon steps on the gas. The car doesn't move. A
[15:58] Speaker 1: moist slushing is under the spinning tires.
[16:02] Speaker 4: It's not going See what it is me?
[16:06] Speaker 6: What happened the equality of the sexes?
[16:08] Speaker 5: Fine?
[16:09] Speaker 1: Jerk? Well wait, Ava, it's too late. Ava's already outside
[16:14] Speaker 1: the car exterior canaan doom road continuous. Ava crouches takes
[16:19] Speaker 1: a closer look at the tires. She turns on her
[16:22] Speaker 1: phone's flashlight. Illuminates the ground under the vehicle, a dark, oily,
[16:28] Speaker 1: mucus like fluid.
[16:29] Speaker 5: There's some kind of liquid.
[16:31] Speaker 1: Brandon rolls down the window, sticks his head out.
[16:34] Speaker 5: What I think it's oil?
[16:36] Speaker 1: Brandon grows increasingly perturbed.
[16:39] Speaker 6: What does that even mean?
[16:40] Speaker 5: Get your lazy ass out and look.
[16:43] Speaker 6: I forgot my glasses. You know how blind I am
[16:45] Speaker 6: without him.
[16:48] Speaker 5: I'll take a picture.
[16:49] Speaker 1: Ava takes a flash photo, looks at the image. What
[16:53] Speaker 1: she sees shocks her.
[16:55] Speaker 5: We have to go now, Ava looks up.
[16:58] Speaker 1: Brandon is gone.
[17:00] Speaker 5: Brandon branded.
[17:02] Speaker 1: The light shakes in her hand as she holds it up.
[17:04] Speaker 1: She's terrified. She hears the sound of greedy sucking and
[17:08] Speaker 1: slurping nearby. Ava opens the car door slow inside, nothing,
[17:16] Speaker 1: no one. The eating noises continue louder. It's coming from
[17:21] Speaker 1: behind the car. Ava follows the sound, unable to control
[17:25] Speaker 1: her trembling hand. As she approaches, the light reveals a dark,
[17:30] Speaker 1: slimy leech creature. Swollen and gorged and pulsating. It sits
[17:35] Speaker 1: on top of Brandon's immobile body, drinking him. Rows of sharp,
[17:40] Speaker 1: serrated teeth visible as it greedily consumes Brandon's blood. Brandon's
[17:44] Speaker 1: eyes are rolled back in his head. Ava's speechless. The
[17:48] Speaker 1: creature doesn't seem to take notice of her as it
[17:50] Speaker 1: undulates and writhes. Ava backs away cautiously, scared to even breathe.
[17:56] Speaker 1: She waits until she's out of sight, then boats down
[17:59] Speaker 1: the dark word out
