VS, Act 1: Versus opens the door to a nightmare none of our characters saw coming. Programmer Randall Parker’s life starts spiraling when he takes over a job for his friend Dana, leading him deep into the enigmatic Versus Incorporated. What begins as a simple day at work turns into a nightmare of violence, captivity, and betrayal, as Randall and fifteen others wake up caged and collared in a blood-soaked arena. Their captors? Unseen, but ever-present—demanding only one thing: fight, or die. The first episode sets the stage with a harrowing introduction to the brutal tournament, laying bare the horror that awaits as these ordinary people realize they’ve been thrust into a gladiatorial death match. The fight is real. The stakes? Life or death. About VS: "Sixteen people. Three rounds. One survivor. [0:00] Speaker 1: Sagorie ers black screen silence. Extreme close up of a
[0:08] Speaker 1: slow motion black baseball bat swinging through the darkness. Arking
[0:12] Speaker 1: toward the camera. We can see the Louisville Slugger logo
[0:15] Speaker 1: burned into the wood. As it swings closer, filling the screen.
[0:20] Speaker 1: We see it is smeared with flecks of blood and
[0:22] Speaker 1: what might be a tooth. The sound of a bat
[0:25] Speaker 1: hitting a face brings us out of silence and into
[0:27] Speaker 1: full speed. Fighter one falls onto a blood streaked white
[0:31] Speaker 1: canvas that is illuminated by a large overhead spotlight. All
[0:35] Speaker 1: around the canvas is darkness. Fighter one is wearing surgical
[0:39] Speaker 1: scrubs and bleeding badly from the head and mouth. When
[0:42] Speaker 1: he falls, He scrambles clumsily to one knee, lifting a
[0:45] Speaker 1: baseball bat at his own His is natural wood color,
[0:49] Speaker 1: clearly different from the black bat we saw in the open.
[0:52] Speaker 1: Fighter one stumbles to his feet and swings wildly. Fighter
[0:56] Speaker 1: two steps back avoids the clumsy swing two. Bleeding from
[1:00] Speaker 1: a broken nose, He limps badly on his right leg.
[1:04] Speaker 1: He's dressed in a blood streak buttoned down shirt and tie.
[1:07] Speaker 2: Stay away from me, I'm ending this.
[1:12] Speaker 1: Fighter one tries to rush in and swings, but he's
[1:14] Speaker 1: groggy from the blow to the head. Fighter two flinches
[1:18] Speaker 1: and ducks away. He is clearly not a professional combatant.
[1:22] Speaker 1: Fighter one swings again, but Fighter two ducks away, then
[1:26] Speaker 1: swings back at justified moment, knocking the bat from Fighter
[1:30] Speaker 1: one's hands. Fighter two steps forward and jabs the end
[1:33] Speaker 1: of the bat into Fighter one's mouth. Fighter one hits
[1:36] Speaker 1: the canvas, spitting blood and teeth. His limbs fail him.
[1:40] Speaker 1: He rolls to his back. Fighter two steps forward, hands
[1:43] Speaker 1: tightly clutching the handle of his bat. He raises the bat, then.
[1:48] Speaker 2: Pauses, No, I have kids, so did I.
[1:54] Speaker 1: Shot from the ground. Fighter one's hand is extended into
[1:57] Speaker 1: the frame, palm up, fingers out, the defensive posture of
[2:00] Speaker 1: a man pleading for his life. Fighter two is looking down.
[2:04] Speaker 1: He seems so tall from down here. Slow motion Fighter
[2:07] Speaker 1: two swings high as the bat descends. The shot reaches
[2:11] Speaker 1: normal speed just as it fills the screen, giving us
[2:14] Speaker 1: a split second view of the Louisville Slugger logo once again,
[2:18] Speaker 1: just before a squelching sound. Art to black now fade.
[2:23] Speaker 1: In social media pages, music plays over a series of images,
[2:28] Speaker 1: Facebook status updates, tweets, and texted pictures of two young people,
[2:32] Speaker 1: Randal Murphy and Dana Johnson, partying with friends. Randal is
[2:37] Speaker 1: thirty one, dressed in nerd cheek clothes, buttoned down white shirt, slacks,
[2:41] Speaker 1: a computer bag usually over his shoulder. Dana is short
[2:45] Speaker 1: and stocky with close cropped hair. Her style is butch
[2:49] Speaker 1: lesbian with a touch of goth. The pictures show them
[2:52] Speaker 1: getting progressively drunker as the night continues, fade to black,
[2:57] Speaker 1: fade in interior bedroom of small apartment morning a dark room,
[3:01] Speaker 1: A cell phone lights up as it rings, providing the
[3:04] Speaker 1: only illumination one, two, three rings before a hand reaches
[3:08] Speaker 1: out and picks it up. Randall looks at the caller
[3:11] Speaker 1: ID insert cell phone reads apartment front door.
[3:16] Speaker 3: Oh my god, my head, he answers yeah.
[3:22] Speaker 1: A series of angles between Randall's bedroom and Dana, who
[3:25] Speaker 1: is at the apartment building's front door.
[3:28] Speaker 3: YO play it buzz me in, Dana, Are you kidding me?
[3:31] Speaker 3: I just got back three hours ago.

[3:36] Speaker 3: How can you even be awake? You drop me off
[3:39] Speaker 3: at three in the morning on.

[3:44] Speaker 3: I think I'm dead go away?
[3:46] Speaker 4: No, no, no, can do I need your help, Dana?
[3:51] Speaker 3: I love you, but fuck off?
[3:53] Speaker 4: Serious buzz me in.
[3:55] Speaker 1: Randall hangs up, falls back into bed. Randall Aana starts
[4:00] Speaker 1: to dial again, but woman one exits the apartment building.
[4:04] Speaker 1: Dana smiles, holds the door for her, then enters angle
[4:08] Speaker 1: on Randal in bed. Several beats, then Randal jumps as
[4:12] Speaker 1: Dana pounds on the apartment door. Damn it. A pause,
[4:18] Speaker 1: then a monotone pounding on his apartment door. Randal puts
[4:22] Speaker 1: the pillow over his head, trying to ignore the noise,
[4:25] Speaker 1: hoping Dana will just go away. Rhythmic pounding continues through
[4:29] Speaker 1: fade to black fade in interior apartment living room morning,
[4:35] Speaker 1: empty living room, Dana's pounding continues a NonStop, steady bam,
[4:39] Speaker 1: bam bam. Dressed in sweatpants and a T shirt, Randall
[4:43] Speaker 1: enters shuffling across the living room. He opens the door.
[4:47] Speaker 1: A smiling Dana is there with coffee and donuts.
[4:51] Speaker 4: Good morning, sunshine.
[4:53] Speaker 1: Dana pushes a coffee into Randal's hand, then walks in.
[4:57] Speaker 1: Randall stares at her as he shuts the door.
[4:59] Speaker 3: I don't want on coffee, Dana, no, I don't want
[5:02] Speaker 3: coffee because it will keep me awake, and I'm going
[5:04] Speaker 3: to go to bed as soon as I say no
[5:06] Speaker 3: to whatever you want.
[5:07] Speaker 5: Come on, bro, you're a pushover. I'll ask, you'll say no,
[5:12] Speaker 5: I'll say please, and you'll cave.
[5:14] Speaker 3: Just tell me what you want.
[5:17] Speaker 4: Okay, I've got a line on a new job. I
[5:20] Speaker 4: need you to work for me today.
[5:21] Speaker 3: No, wait, it's Sunday. This is my one day.
[5:25] Speaker 4: Come on.
[5:26] Speaker 5: This job is a perfect culmination of my life's goals.
[5:28] Speaker 3: Which means it pays more than we're making now, right exactly.
[5:32] Speaker 4: It pays one hundred and twenty k.
[5:38] Speaker 3: Why that's thirty seven percent more than we make now?
[5:43] Speaker 4: Nice mouth for rain man.
[5:44] Speaker 3: Why are you springing this on me?
[5:45] Speaker 6: Now?
[5:46] Speaker 3: When when did you find out?
[5:48] Speaker 1: Dana walks to Randall's laptop, Whish is on his small
[5:51] Speaker 1: kitchen table. He is annoyed she would touch his computer,

[7:13] Speaker 3: Taking money electronically is oddly enough, something many companies frown upon.
[7:17] Speaker 3: Mister Cameron Elli hired you, Yeah, and he made it
[7:21] Speaker 3: clear that no one else would. I only got this
[7:26] Speaker 3: job because I'm the bomb with banking software. I'm not
[7:29] Speaker 3: gonna screw it up looking for another gig.
[7:32] Speaker 4: So why do you want to see the job posting?
[7:34] Speaker 3: Then you said they want marketing people.
[7:39] Speaker 5: Dana rolls her eyes Versamantha sa Randall.
[7:43] Speaker 4: Come on, she dumped you, man, she dumped me.
[7:47] Speaker 3: We're trying to work things out.
[7:49] Speaker 4: You're trying to work things out. She's right in the
[7:52] Speaker 4: disco stick of anything that moves.
[7:54] Speaker 3: Dana.
[7:54] Speaker 5: You okay, I'll show you if you promised to cover

[8:06] Speaker 5: tell them I'm coming.
[8:07] Speaker 3: But what if Cameronelly is at the job site? You'll
[8:10] Speaker 3: see a company has two hundred employees.
[8:13] Speaker 5: I've never even met Cameron Ellian person, and I use
[8:16] Speaker 5: a different name in case.
[8:17] Speaker 1: Dana dials on her cellphone.
[8:21] Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, mister Smith, this is Danielle Johnson. Is that
[8:26] Speaker 5: eight am interview slot open? Great, I'll be there, bright
[8:32] Speaker 5: and shiny, sir.
[8:33] Speaker 3: Dana hangs up Danielle instead of Dana. Wow, you're like
[8:40] Speaker 3: a freaking super spy.
[8:42] Speaker 2: Well that's me.
[8:44] Speaker 5: Let me show you the job hostings. Then you go shower,
[8:47] Speaker 5: you smell like twice back tequila.
[8:49] Speaker 1: Fade out Interior Randall's apartment morning. Randall is now dressed
[8:55] Speaker 1: and cleaned up. He's wearing a buttoned down white shirt
[8:58] Speaker 1: and a tie and actually has a pocket protector. He's
[9:01] Speaker 1: at the kitchen table typing on his laptop. Angle on
[9:05] Speaker 1: his screen, showing several Craigslist dot com ads for various jobs.
[9:10] Speaker 1: He clicks one that says marketing director, angle on Randall.
[9:14] Speaker 1: He looks at his cell phone, wondering if he should call.
[9:17] Speaker 1: He checks his wristwatch, which has a picture of Megatron
[9:20] Speaker 1: from the Transformers on the face. It's seven forty five am.
[9:24] Speaker 1: He rubs his eyes. It hurts to even think about her.
[9:27] Speaker 1: He dials.
[9:31] Speaker 3: Hello, Hi, it's me beat.
[9:37] Speaker 6: Randal.
[9:38] Speaker 4: I thought we agreed we weren't going to talk for
[9:40] Speaker 4: a while.
[9:43] Speaker 7: The morning.
[9:44] Speaker 3: I know, and I'm sorry to bother you, but I
[9:46] Speaker 3: found a job that I think he might like, A
[9:50] Speaker 3: job he couldn't wait until later today? No, actually, or
[9:55] Speaker 3: I wouldn't have called. They're interviewing this morning and it's
[9:58] Speaker 3: a marketing director job. He's one twenty a beat. Really,
[10:06] Speaker 3: where is it right here? In the city. I read
[10:09] Speaker 3: the posting for it. It sounds perfect for you, but
[10:12] Speaker 3: I think you need to contact them right away. Oh well, thanks,
[10:17] Speaker 3: that's it. It's sweet of you to think of me after.
[10:23] Speaker 1: After we Randall smiles, this went better than he thought
[10:27] Speaker 1: it might.
[10:30] Speaker 3: Don't worry about it.
[10:32] Speaker 1: A thin, tired voice comes over the phone.
[10:36] Speaker 8: You fuck up.
[10:36] Speaker 1: Already just a minute, Randall is crushed.
[10:41] Speaker 3: Sorry, I didn't know you had company a beat, Randall. Look,
[10:47] Speaker 3: I already emailed you the job hosting. I got to go.
[10:52] Speaker 1: Randall hangs up, stares at the phone. He knew she
[10:55] Speaker 1: was seeing other people, but didn't think it would hurt
[10:58] Speaker 1: this much. He closed This is his laptop and puts
[11:01] Speaker 1: it in his computer bag. He reaches for his keychain.
[11:04] Speaker 1: Insert keychain, four or five keys with a silver USB
[11:08] Speaker 1: flash memory drive attached to the ring. Randall leaves the apartment.
[11:12] Speaker 1: Fade out. Randall in Carr day traveling. He's got one
[11:17] Speaker 1: hand on the wheel, another on a sheet of paper
[11:19] Speaker 1: with an address. He pulls up to the closed loading
[11:22] Speaker 1: dot garage of an old building. People are walking by
[11:26] Speaker 1: on the sidewalk. The neighborhood isn't great, but isn't all
[11:29] Speaker 1: that bad? Either. The garage door is dent and scratched.
[11:32] Speaker 1: A sign on it says Versus Incorporated Job Interviews today
[11:37] Speaker 1: hunked for access.
[11:41] Speaker 3: I guess this is it.
[11:42] Speaker 1: He hunks. A few seconds later, the garage door rolls up.
[11:46] Speaker 1: Mister Jones comes out holding a clipboard.
[11:49] Speaker 2: You're here for a job interview.
[11:51] Speaker 3: No, I'm Randall Parker from IDG Computing. I'm here to
[11:55] Speaker 3: fix the banking software beat.
[11:58] Speaker 9: I was told to expect a woman, a Dana Johnson.
[12:01] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, she's sick. I'm covering.
[12:03] Speaker 1: Mister Jones looks from the clipboard out to the street,
[12:06] Speaker 1: then at Randall. He points into the concrete parking area
[12:10] Speaker 1: at an open slot.
[12:12] Speaker 2: Pull up there, follow me in.
[12:13] Speaker 9: I have to talk to mister Cameron Elly.
[12:16] Speaker 3: He's here, he's been here all morning.
[12:18] Speaker 1: Dry. Randall nods pulls ahead. Mister Jones rolls the garage
[12:23] Speaker 1: door shut behind him. The place is poorly lit, looks
[12:27] Speaker 1: mostly vacant, not uncommon for a company taking over an
[12:31] Speaker 1: unoccupied building, but it's still a little spooky.
[12:34] Speaker 3: Keep your down, Dana, hope you know what you're doing.
[12:39] Speaker 1: Randall notices two medium cargo trucks, no markings, no plates,
[12:44] Speaker 1: some graffiti on them. They look very used in nondescript,
[12:48] Speaker 1: kind of out of place for a corporate setting. Cut
[12:51] Speaker 1: to interior lobby. Mister Jones enters, followed by Randall. Randall
[12:56] Speaker 1: looks around. The lobby is full of job candidates. Old lady, gangster, bodybuilder,
[13:02] Speaker 1: single mom, and actor are all sitting waiting their turn.
[13:06] Speaker 1: Resumes in hand. Dana is also there. She and Randall
[13:10] Speaker 1: try not to look like they see each other.
[13:12] Speaker 3: Have a seat, dude, my name is Randall.
[13:15] Speaker 1: Whatever park it. From another door, Interviewee number one enters,
[13:20] Speaker 1: followed by mister Smith, who holds an iPad. Thanks for
[13:23] Speaker 1: coming in.
[13:24] Speaker 2: I still don't get it.
[13:25] Speaker 10: The interview was going fine until I said my wife
[13:28] Speaker 10: was coming to pick me up.
[13:29] Speaker 2: Why is that a problem?
[13:31] Speaker 9: Life is a mysterious thing, sir.
[13:33] Speaker 3: Let's go.
[13:34] Speaker 1: Mister Jones heads back to the garage. Interviewee number one
[13:37] Speaker 1: size then follows. Mister Smith looks at his iPad Danielle Johnson.
[13:43] Speaker 1: Dana raises her hand.
[13:45] Speaker 4: That's me you're up.
[13:46] Speaker 3: Let's go.
[13:47] Speaker 1: Mister Jones walks to another door. Dana follows. She stops,
[13:51] Speaker 1: turns and winks at Randall. Then she's gone. Randal looks around,
[13:55] Speaker 1: finds an open seat next to the actor, across from
[13:58] Speaker 1: the old lady.
[13:59] Speaker 3: R I hope you understand that I'm next year.
[14:03] Speaker 2: Hell no, i'sh before you.
[14:06] Speaker 10: Well, I'm never watch how you talk to the lady.
[14:10] Speaker 2: I didn't say nothing. I have to let her go
[14:13] Speaker 2: first because she's white.
[14:15] Speaker 10: Don't play the race card, asshole, and mind your own business,
[14:19] Speaker 10: meat head.
[14:20] Speaker 2: Maybe I'm making it my business, so you better step
[14:22] Speaker 2: the fuck off and leave me be. I'm not going
[14:24] Speaker 2: to tell you a second time.
[14:26] Speaker 1: The bodybuilder stands. He is a thickly built man dressed
[14:30] Speaker 1: in slacks and a sweater.
[14:32] Speaker 2: I've had enough of your mouth.
[14:34] Speaker 1: Gangster also stands. He is medium height, mid forties, but
[14:38] Speaker 1: in excellent shape, wearing hip hop clothes covered with forty
[14:41] Speaker 1: nine ers logos. Randall is shocked. He has no idea
[14:45] Speaker 1: what's going on. Mister Jones is still nowhere to be seen.
[14:49] Speaker 1: Actor jumps up and stands between the gangster and the bodybuilder.
[14:53] Speaker 1: Actor is a classic leading man type, tall and handsome
[14:56] Speaker 1: with a disarming smile.
[14:57] Speaker 7: Hey hey, hey, now let's take it.
[15:00] Speaker 2: Who fucking asked you?
[15:01] Speaker 1: Clooney?
[15:02] Speaker 2: What the fuck?
[15:03] Speaker 11: Ben?
[15:03] Speaker 7: All I know is I don't get calls for six
[15:05] Speaker 7: figure jobs every day, and I'm guessing you guys don't either.
[15:09] Speaker 1: Bodybuilder and gangsters start staring each other down, but they
[15:13] Speaker 1: both shake their heads.
[15:15] Speaker 7: If you two get into it, maybe the company clears
[15:18] Speaker 7: the lobby and maybe no one gets a job, right right, yeah, okay,
[15:25] Speaker 7: all right, so just call it even and relax.
[15:29] Speaker 1: The bodybuilder and gangsterill look at each other, nod and
[15:32] Speaker 1: sit down. The mention of the money and the job
[15:35] Speaker 1: seems to have calmed them down. Actor sits then turns
[15:39] Speaker 1: to Randall.
[15:41] Speaker 3: Name is Harvey Hartley Randall Parker.
[15:43] Speaker 7: Nice to meet your rendal. What are you here to
[15:46] Speaker 7: interview for?
[15:47] Speaker 3: Oh no, I'm here to work on the computer system.
[15:51] Speaker 7: Nice, I'm interviewing as a company spokesman. So what do
[15:56] Speaker 7: these guys make or do?
[15:58] Speaker 1: Anyway?
[15:59] Speaker 3: I don't really know. Some kind of gambling website, I think.
[16:03] Speaker 1: Is that legal?
[16:06] Speaker 3: It beats me. I probably won't even find out. I
[16:09] Speaker 3: just fixed the software code tested, that's it.
[16:12] Speaker 7: Well, whatever they do, they need a good looking lead
[16:15] Speaker 7: man to be the face of the company. At least
[16:18] Speaker 7: that's what they said when he called me. They called you, Yeah,
[16:23] Speaker 7: found my resume on Christlist.
[16:25] Speaker 1: Something about this bothers random. He looks around the room again.
[16:30] Speaker 1: These people don't look like corporate material.
[16:34] Speaker 3: What is this spokesmodel? Gig pay spokesperson. I'll do swimwear spokesperson.
[16:40] Speaker 3: Right did they say?
[16:42] Speaker 1: Actor leans into whisper. Ian Randall's exchange is quiet, as
[16:46] Speaker 1: private as it can be in the crowded room. A beat.
[16:51] Speaker 1: That's the same amount they offered to data.
[16:55] Speaker 3: What are the others here to interview for?
[16:58] Speaker 1: Actor sits up straight again. This volume returns to normal.
[17:01] Speaker 7: Well, so far everyone is here for something different. Those
[17:04] Speaker 7: two are here for security gigs. She's here for a
[17:07] Speaker 7: secretary position, and she is here for some work from
[17:11] Speaker 7: home thing.
[17:12] Speaker 12: I'm a bookkeeper, They said, I can do their accounting
[17:15] Speaker 12: for my house. Just be in the office one day
[17:17] Speaker 12: a week. Got three kids, Five days a week in
[17:20] Speaker 12: the office is hard. This would be a dream job.
[17:23] Speaker 3: Isn't one twenty a lot for a work from a
[17:26] Speaker 3: home bookkeeper?
[17:27] Speaker 12: It is, but it would be a life changer for
[17:29] Speaker 12: my kids and I.
[17:31] Speaker 1: Joseph Cameron allianers. He looks haggard and hurried. He is
[17:35] Speaker 1: carrying some rumpled print outs.
[17:37] Speaker 2: Which one of you is the programmer?
[17:39] Speaker 1: That's me, sir, Joseph checks the printouts.
[17:42] Speaker 2: Your name is Dana.
[17:44] Speaker 3: Dana is sick asked me to fill in.
[17:46] Speaker 2: Why didn't anyone call me?
[17:49] Speaker 3: I guess she didn't expect you'd be on site, Sir,
[17:54] Speaker 3: I've never seen you on site.
[17:55] Speaker 1: Joseph stares at Randall a faint glimmer of recognition.
[17:59] Speaker 3: Wait a minute, Oh, you you interviewed me.
[18:02] Speaker 10: Sure I don't do interviews except for the You said
[18:05] Speaker 10: your name was.
[18:06] Speaker 3: Randall Randall Parker, Sir, you're the hacker guy former sir,
[18:12] Speaker 3: I'm still very grateful you gave me a chance.
[18:15] Speaker 1: Whatever. Fuck, Joseph check's watch. He's starting to sweat.
[18:19] Speaker 3: If it's banking software, I assure you I'm your best employee.
[18:23] Speaker 2: You're also the best at looking at shit you're not
[18:25] Speaker 2: supposed to.
[18:25] Speaker 3: See, sir, I assure you.
[18:29] Speaker 1: Joseph check's watch again.
[18:30] Speaker 7: Fuck.
[18:31] Speaker 2: I don't have time to get anyone else. This client is.
[18:35] Speaker 1: Joseph looks around the lobby, sees the other candidates are looking.
[18:39] Speaker 10: The client is not someone you want to screw with.
[18:41] Speaker 10: I mean, you could get the software issue fixed and
[18:44] Speaker 10: not fuck around. You got me, yes, sir? Good leave
[18:47] Speaker 10: your computer here. You can't bring it into the server room.
[18:50] Speaker 3: Uh, how come?
[18:51] Speaker 2: Because you're a convict and I don't trust.
[18:54] Speaker 1: You, Randall Hans, mister Jones the computer, Mister Jones puts
[18:58] Speaker 1: it behind the desk. Randal follows Joseph through the door,
[19:01] Speaker 1: which leads to a stairwell. Stairwell looks dirty, dusty, abandoned.
[19:07] Speaker 2: It's in the second basement.
[19:09] Speaker 3: This place has more than one. Basement, has three. Actually,
[19:13] Speaker 3: what's in the bottom one?
[19:14] Speaker 2: None of your fucking business. Now let's go.
[19:17] Speaker 1: Joseph heads down the steps. Randal follows. Cut to interior
[19:21] Speaker 1: office day Dana interview scene. Sparsely decorated office, a table
[19:27] Speaker 1: with two chairs, a laptop on the table. Dana assits
[19:30] Speaker 1: with the enforcer. He holds her resume. He is a
[19:34] Speaker 1: burly man dressed in a buttoned down shirt, slacks, and
[19:36] Speaker 1: a poorly fitting tie. The back of the laptop is
[19:39] Speaker 1: to Dana, she can't see the screen. A camera is
[19:43] Speaker 1: mounted on the laptop, pointed at Dana.
[19:46] Speaker 10: Well, it looks like you're the perfect candidate for the
[19:48] Speaker 10: position we want you.
[19:51] Speaker 1: Dana breaks into a huge, surprised smile.
[19:54] Speaker 4: But that's it. That's the shortest interview I've ever had.
[19:58] Speaker 2: Well, you got here fast.
[20:00] Speaker 10: It's kind of a pre screening policy, you might say,
[20:03] Speaker 10: to find real go getters. Are you do back at
[20:06] Speaker 10: your current job?
[20:07] Speaker 1: No Am?
[20:08] Speaker 4: I called him sick.
[20:09] Speaker 2: Awesome, that's just perfect. And you drove here.
[20:14] Speaker 3: I took community.
[20:15] Speaker 2: Someone coming to pick you up?
[20:18] Speaker 4: Nope, taking the menia right back.
[20:20] Speaker 2: Huh. You didn't tell anyone at work.
[20:23] Speaker 4: I don't know like I want people knowing I'm job hunting.
[20:26] Speaker 2: Sweet. I have to start your HR file. Smile for the.
[20:30] Speaker 1: Camera angle on in Forcer's laptop, The screen shows a
[20:34] Speaker 1: file with some information from the interview. It is titled
[20:37] Speaker 1: the Dyke. Enforcer adjusts the angle on his computer cam,
[20:41] Speaker 1: centering it on Dana's face. Dana smiles and Forcer clicks
[20:45] Speaker 1: the keyboard. A snapshot sound is heard, then Dana's smiling
[20:49] Speaker 1: face appears on the screen in the computer file.
[20:52] Speaker 2: Fantastic. Just one more question? Can you fight? What? Karate
[21:00] Speaker 2: tay taekwondo barbrals?
[21:03] Speaker 4: What is that supposed to mean?
[21:05] Speaker 2: Can you fight or not? It's a simple question, you
[21:09] Speaker 2: stupid bitch.
[21:10] Speaker 4: Hey, what the hell is this?
[21:12] Speaker 10: I'm going to slap you now what Here it comes
[21:16] Speaker 10: three two one.
[21:19] Speaker 1: And Forcer slaps Dana hard across the face. She is shocked,
[21:24] Speaker 1: doesn't know what to say.
[21:25] Speaker 2: Come on, hit me back. Here comes another one? Ready, three, two?
[21:32] Speaker 1: No, don't hit me again, and Forcer slaps her again,
[21:35] Speaker 1: even harder. Dana covers up but makes no offensive move.
[21:41] Speaker 2: Yes, you're perfect.
[21:43] Speaker 1: Dana grabs her portfolio, stuffs her resume back inside.
[21:47] Speaker 4: I'm getting the hell out of here.
[21:49] Speaker 2: You can leave in four hours if you got what it.
[21:52] Speaker 1: Takes, and Forcer pulls out a taser and shocks Dana.
[21:56] Speaker 1: She falls in a lump on the floor, groggy and stunned.
[22:00] Speaker 1: Her portfolio falls, Her resume scatters onto the floor, and
[22:04] Speaker 1: Forcer pulls out chlorophorm, pours them into a handkerchief and
[22:07] Speaker 1: puts it over Dana's mouth and nose. Her eyes go
[22:10] Speaker 1: wide with fear. She kicks and struggles, but she is
[22:14] Speaker 1: too weak. She passes out, and Forcer pulls out a
[22:18] Speaker 1: cell phone and hits the two way button. She's bagged
[22:21] Speaker 1: a beat. Mister Jones walks in.
[22:24] Speaker 9: Awesome, we're almost back on schedule. Let's get her in place.
[22:28] Speaker 1: And Forcer effortlessly throws Dana over his shoulder. Cut to
[22:32] Speaker 1: interior server room, several rocks of blade servers, messy cables.
[22:38] Speaker 1: The install looks hasty and sloppy, just enough to get
[22:41] Speaker 1: the job done. Joseph and Randall at her already talking.
[22:45] Speaker 3: So the international transactions are gumming up the works.
[22:48] Speaker 10: Yeah, it seems like it. Bets are coming in but
[22:50] Speaker 10: not hitting clients accounts.
[22:52] Speaker 3: This is a credit card thing.
[22:54] Speaker 10: No credit cards direct transfers into a Cayman Islands account.
[22:58] Speaker 3: Wow, you doing some work for the mob, mister Cameron.
[23:02] Speaker 1: Elly Joseph stares, stares hard.
[23:06] Speaker 10: Uh sorry, sir, less, talkie talkie more fixed, fixy got it?
[23:10] Speaker 1: Random nods. Joseph points to a small beat up desk
[23:14] Speaker 1: with a computer on it. Like the server set up.
[23:17] Speaker 1: Everything seems sloppy.
[23:19] Speaker 10: Temporary fix the problem in the next thirty minutes and
[23:22] Speaker 10: there's a big bonus in it for you.
[23:24] Speaker 3: I'll see what I can do.
[23:25] Speaker 10: No, you will fix it and fix it in the
[23:27] Speaker 10: next thirty minutes.
[23:28] Speaker 2: You got that, programmer, Yeah, yes, I got it.
[23:32] Speaker 1: Joseph checks his watch. He looks nervous.
[23:34] Speaker 2: Listen, I have a plan to catch and I have
[23:36] Speaker 2: to get out of here.
[23:37] Speaker 10: Tell me that you understand what I'm saying when I
[23:39] Speaker 10: say fix it and do not fuck around.
[23:42] Speaker 3: I understand it.
[23:44] Speaker 2: These are serious people. Buddy.
[23:48] Speaker 3: My name is Randall, sir, and I understand good.
[23:51] Speaker 2: I'm headed to the airport. I'll check in with you
[23:53] Speaker 2: when I land it Topeka. You won't let me down, no, sir,
[23:57] Speaker 2: I'll fixy, fixy. I'll tell miss Smith to come get
[24:00] Speaker 2: you in thirty minutes.
[24:01] Speaker 1: Then Joseph smacks Randall on the shoulder, then turns and leaves.
[24:06] Speaker 1: Randall starts typing his fingers fly. Screens appear and vanish
[24:10] Speaker 1: on the screen, almost faster than we can track. He's
[24:13] Speaker 1: very good at what he does. Cut to interior server room.
[24:17] Speaker 1: Randal is still at his desk.
[24:19] Speaker 3: I think I see it.
[24:21] Speaker 1: He types some more corrects, a line of code, a beat,
[24:24] Speaker 1: then a loud beep from the computer.
[24:27] Speaker 3: Ah, gotcha.
[24:28] Speaker 1: He starts packing up his stuff, trying to ignore the screen,
[24:31] Speaker 1: but it keeps beeping. The beeps correspond with new line
[24:35] Speaker 1: item transactions. Randall doesn't want to look, but he has to.
[24:40] Speaker 1: Each line shows a name, a bank account number, the
[24:43] Speaker 1: word transaction verified, and then a sum one million dollars.
[24:48] Speaker 1: Holy shit. Beep after beep, line after line the transactions
[24:53] Speaker 1: come in. They finally stop, showing a total of fifty
[24:56] Speaker 1: eight million dollars Randal looks behind him. No one is there.
[25:01] Speaker 1: He looks for a camera, but sees none. The temptation
[25:05] Speaker 1: is too strong. He pulls out his keychain and puts
[25:09] Speaker 1: his flash drive into the computer. Randal types a few
[25:12] Speaker 1: commands a progress bar, says saving to key master. The
[25:16] Speaker 1: bar fills up. Randall puts the keys and flash drive
[25:19] Speaker 1: back in his pocket.
[25:21] Speaker 3: Are you finished?
[25:21] Speaker 1: Randal turns around. Suddenly mister Smith is standing in the door.
[25:25] Speaker 1: Did he see the copy process?
[25:27] Speaker 3: He scared the crap out of me, I said, are
[25:30] Speaker 3: you finished? Hey, yes, sir, I'm all set.
[25:33] Speaker 1: Mister Smith looks at the computer screen. It seems to relax. Awesome,
[25:37] Speaker 1: Let's get you out of here. Mister Smith looks at Randall,
[25:40] Speaker 1: who has sweat on his forehead. You feeling all right, programmer?
[25:45] Speaker 1: Randall wipes his forehead, sees the sweat.
[25:48] Speaker 3: Just a little warm down here.
[25:50] Speaker 1: It's fifty fucking degrees.
[25:53] Speaker 3: Oh well, I don't know. Maybe I'm feeling a little
[25:56] Speaker 3: under the weather.
[25:58] Speaker 1: Great, so bring your cold in year to share, idiot, Seriously,
[26:03] Speaker 1: we're on a schedule. Back up the stairs, mister Jones
[26:06] Speaker 1: is waiting for you. Randal starts to leave. Mister Smith
[26:09] Speaker 1: looks at the screen. Insert screen still reads fifty eight
[26:14] Speaker 1: million dollars. Randal leaves. Mister Smith sits types in a
[26:19] Speaker 1: few commands. Insert computer window that reads log line report
[26:24] Speaker 1: running at a progress bar. Angle on mister Smith waiting.
[26:30] Speaker 1: Cut to interior stairwell morning. Randal walks quickly. He knows
[26:35] Speaker 1: he did something stupid and once out fast. He climbs
[26:38] Speaker 1: the stairs and re enters the lobby. Only mister Jones
[26:41] Speaker 1: and the Enforcer are there. Mister Jones is by the
[26:44] Speaker 1: exit door. The Enforcer is at his desk. Randal looks
[26:47] Speaker 1: at them both. Do they know?
[26:49] Speaker 2: Ready to go?
[26:50] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[26:50] Speaker 1: All side. Mister Jones nods, walks toward the door to
[26:54] Speaker 1: the garage. Randal follows. Cut to interior garage. Mister Jones
[26:59] Speaker 1: walks toward the outer garage door as Randall walks quickly
[27:01] Speaker 1: to his car. Randall starts his car. In his rear
[27:05] Speaker 1: view mirror, he sees the Enforcer walk out of the
[27:07] Speaker 1: interior door. Hey wait, Randal thinks he's been caught. He
[27:13] Speaker 1: pretends not to hear and drives quickly toward the opening
[27:15] Speaker 1: garage door.
[27:16] Speaker 10: Wait.
[27:17] Speaker 1: Enforcer runs after the car. Randall pulls up to the
[27:21] Speaker 1: garage door. He's almost out, but has to stop and
[27:23] Speaker 1: wait for the garage door to open wide enough. Mister
[27:27] Speaker 1: jones cell phone rings. Randal watches him answer it. The
[27:30] Speaker 1: garage door is opening so slow. Hey, Randal jumps. The
[27:35] Speaker 1: Enforcer is right at his passenger window, and Forcer holds
[27:38] Speaker 1: up Randall's.
[27:39] Speaker 2: Computer bag forgot something.
[27:42] Speaker 1: Randal blinks, he hasn't been caught.
[27:44] Speaker 3: It's okay, oh man, thanks, yeah, i'd probably remember a
[27:50] Speaker 3: block from here.
[27:52] Speaker 2: Well, you'd have been shit out of lock, shutting down
[27:54] Speaker 2: for the day. No one gets in. Man.
[27:57] Speaker 1: Enforcer holds the bag inside the passenger window. Randall leans out,
[28:01] Speaker 1: grabs it, sets it down. When he leans back, we
[28:04] Speaker 1: see mister Jones standing right outside the driver's side window.
[28:08] Speaker 1: Mister Jones is holding a cell phone to his ear.
[28:11] Speaker 1: In his other hand a taser. He calmly zops Randall.
[28:15] Speaker 1: Randall is out.
[28:16] Speaker 9: Knock this dumbass out, Yeah, I got him? What key master, I'll.
[28:22] Speaker 1: Check, Enforcer chloroforms Randall, who struggles briefly.
[28:26] Speaker 9: Search this guy for a flash drive or something like that.
[28:29] Speaker 2: What just search him?
[28:31] Speaker 1: Mister Jones looks into the car, angle on keychain hanging
[28:35] Speaker 1: from ignition. Mister Jones reaches in takes keys. He finds
[28:39] Speaker 1: the flash drive.
[28:41] Speaker 9: Yeah I think I got it. Yeah, sure, I'll give
[28:45] Speaker 9: the keys to the promoter. Enjoy your trip, sir.
[28:48] Speaker 1: He hangs up, talks to enforcer.
[28:51] Speaker 4: That Camaronelly guy is a retard.
[28:53] Speaker 2: You said it.
[28:54] Speaker 9: I didn't call the CEO guy and tell him not
[28:56] Speaker 9: to bother coming in after all, looks like we have
[28:59] Speaker 9: our Verse sixteenth.
[29:01] Speaker 1: Tight shot Randall's unconscious face. He slides out of the
[29:05] Speaker 1: frame as the enforcer pulls him out of the car.
[29:08] Speaker 1: Fade to black, fade in expensive TV set. The TV
[29:13] Speaker 1: set is in an elegant entertainment center, clearly a possession
[29:17] Speaker 1: of a rich person. The Versus logo spins on the screen.
[29:22] Speaker 1: A countdown timer clicks from ten thirty one to ten
[29:25] Speaker 1: thirty to ten twenty nine. Countdown matches exactly with the
[29:29] Speaker 1: actual movie running time from now until the first fight.
[29:33] Speaker 1: The screen flashes to the white mask face of the promoter.
[29:37] Speaker 1: The mask has a speaker in the mouth which makes
[29:39] Speaker 1: his voice sound mechanical, almost Darth vaderish. Welcomes. We apologize
[29:45] Speaker 1: for the delay of updating you on our final fighter.
[29:48] Speaker 1: We will update information and have you time to pa
[29:51] Speaker 1: Round bets we you wander see.
[29:53] Speaker 3: Scams, but sound off.
[29:55] Speaker 1: Round. The screen shrinks to half size, sound stops, versus
[30:00] Speaker 1: logo continues to spin on screen. Promoter turns to talk
[30:05] Speaker 1: to the Enforcer, now clad in an all gray suit
[30:08] Speaker 1: with a gray mask, and the engineer dressed in an
[30:11] Speaker 1: all green suit and a green mask. Cut to interior
[30:14] Speaker 1: back room. Same scene from New Angle. Masks remain on.
[30:19] Speaker 1: The Promoter is dressed in an all white suit. The
[30:22] Speaker 1: enforcer is sitting there very calm, playing with a handheld
[30:25] Speaker 1: electronics panel with many buttons. He wears a pistol and
[30:28] Speaker 1: a gray holster. The engineer sits in front of an
[30:31] Speaker 1: array of computer screens. There are several web cameras pointed
[30:35] Speaker 1: at them. Promoter checks his watch. He looks at engineer.
[30:39] Speaker 2: Sound off, Yes, sir, don't like this, Pauli's late. Don't
[30:44] Speaker 2: worry about it. We're behind schedule. I'm sure everything is
[30:48] Speaker 2: COOLi oh man, how are they?
[30:53] Speaker 1: Engineer works a keyboard calls up images of people in
[30:56] Speaker 1: chain link cells on the computer screens. Most of the
[30:59] Speaker 1: cage shows someone standing near the door. One shows a
[31:03] Speaker 1: prone person in a white shirt. It's Randall programmers still out,
[31:07] Speaker 1: How long.
[31:08] Speaker 2: Till he's up any second?
[31:09] Speaker 1: Now?
[31:10] Speaker 2: We didn't give him much.
[31:11] Speaker 1: Executioner enters the room. He is dressed in an all
[31:15] Speaker 1: black suit, black mask, and black gloves. The outfit matches
[31:19] Speaker 1: promoter and enforcer. Executioner's chin is always slightly raised. He
[31:24] Speaker 1: moves slowly and with perfect posture.
[31:27] Speaker 8: Who are you?
[31:29] Speaker 1: Executioner looks at his own outfit as if to say,
[31:32] Speaker 1: are you kidding me with this question? I'll give you
[31:35] Speaker 1: one guess?
[31:36] Speaker 2: But Pauliy's always our executioner. Where's Paulli?
[31:40] Speaker 6: Paully's services are no longer required by our common employer.
[31:45] Speaker 1: Promoter and enforcer exchange looks. They know that means Polly
[31:48] Speaker 1: is dead? But why? Enforcer's hand twitches moved closer to
[31:53] Speaker 1: his pistol. Executioner sees it, smiles it enforcer almost as
[31:58] Speaker 1: if he's saying, do you really? I think you're fast enough?
[32:01] Speaker 1: I'll quaint. Enforcer hesitates, then moves his hand away. He
[32:06] Speaker 1: is clearly intimidated.
[32:08] Speaker 2: Are you here to kill us?
[32:11] Speaker 3: Are you still breathing?
[32:13] Speaker 1: Yeah? Then no, I'm not here to kill you.
[32:17] Speaker 3: So what do we do now?
[32:20] Speaker 6: I would imagine that you do your job and get
[32:22] Speaker 6: on with this show. Please don't let.
[32:26] Speaker 1: Me bother you. Executioner finds a chair. He reaches into
[32:30] Speaker 1: his jacket pocket Promoter and enforcer frees up, but he
[32:34] Speaker 1: just pulls out a large handkerchief. He sets it on
[32:37] Speaker 1: the chair, positions it so no part of the chair
[32:39] Speaker 1: will touch him.
[32:41] Speaker 6: Then he sits, I'll just be a fly on the
[32:44] Speaker 6: wall until my services are required.
[32:46] Speaker 1: Promoter is still very nervous. He was not expecting anything
[32:50] Speaker 1: like this.
[32:51] Speaker 2: You know how we do things here.
[32:54] Speaker 11: There are parts of the show that require my particular skills.
[32:58] Speaker 1: I think I can handle such de man. Our employers
[33:02] Speaker 1: showed me the earlier tournaments.
[33:04] Speaker 2: They said I should watch very carefully.
[33:07] Speaker 11: I have to say I was very impressed. You are
[33:12] Speaker 11: a clever man, Promoter. My favorite fighter by far was
[33:18] Speaker 11: the plumber.
[33:19] Speaker 1: The flattery makes promoter relax somewhat. The executioner does seem
[33:23] Speaker 1: to know what's going on. Insert computer screen, medium shot
[33:28] Speaker 1: of Randall in a chain link cage, just like the
[33:30] Speaker 1: one we saw Dana in. He is in a fetal position,
[33:33] Speaker 1: but slowly stirring back to scene.
[33:37] Speaker 2: Hey, it looks like Nosey Nosersen is waking up the nosy.
[33:41] Speaker 1: Is there a problem. Promoter glares at the enforcer, a
[33:45] Speaker 1: clear message to shut the fuck up.
[33:47] Speaker 2: No, no, no problem.
[33:49] Speaker 8: We're not calling him nosy, We're calling him the programmer.
[33:55] Speaker 3: A programmer.
[33:57] Speaker 6: I wonder if he ever worked in a customer support
[33:59] Speaker 6: call center. If so, I'd love to kill him. But
[34:04] Speaker 6: then again, who wouldn't.
[34:07] Speaker 8: Let programmer get his wits about him? Then queue the
[34:09] Speaker 8: announcers to get started or twelve minutes behind schedule. Get
[34:13] Speaker 8: programmers picture on the site fast. People want the sixteenth
[34:16] Speaker 8: contestants so they can place their bets.
[34:18] Speaker 1: End of episode one,
