[0:00] Speaker 1: Hi guys, welcome back to the Amani Talks podcast. You're
[0:03] Speaker 1: here with your host Amani on the podcast where we
[0:05] Speaker 1: talk about our faith based topics and zepening our relationship
[0:08] Speaker 1: with the Lord. So we are continuing on with our
[0:11] Speaker 1: three part series. Sorry you guys that I did not
[0:13] Speaker 1: post last week. I was back home with my family
[0:15] Speaker 1: and I did not pre record, and sorry that this
[0:18] Speaker 1: episode is also getting out late. Our problemse. I'll try
[0:20] Speaker 1: to do better in the future with posting regularly. But
[0:23] Speaker 1: let's get back into our three part series talking about
[0:26] Speaker 1: counterfeit versus the Promise. And we are on our third week,
[0:29] Speaker 1: so wrapping up our little mini series, and today we're
[0:31] Speaker 1: going to be talking about overcoming the desperation that you
[0:35] Speaker 1: may feel to be more inclined to take the counterfeits
[0:39] Speaker 1: presented to you in your life, because these are desires
[0:42] Speaker 1: that we have in our life. These are ones and
[0:44] Speaker 1: needs that we have prayed about, and when our blessing
[0:47] Speaker 1: is right around the corner, the devil might try to interfere,
[0:50] Speaker 1: present you with this counterfeit, to knock you off your game,
[0:52] Speaker 1: to ruin your testimony, to steal the blessings that God
[0:57] Speaker 1: has for you and if you are desperate enough, you
[0:59] Speaker 1: might take the counterfeit because it's coming a little bit
[1:02] Speaker 1: quicker than what God.
[1:03] Speaker 2: Has for you.
[1:03] Speaker 1: Right, So we've already talked about what the counterfeit versus
[1:06] Speaker 1: the promise is. We talked about waiting for the promise,
[1:10] Speaker 1: and now we're going to talk about releasing your desperation
[1:13] Speaker 1: so that you're less likely to take counterfeits. So, first
[1:16] Speaker 1: of all, to be able to truly let go of
[1:18] Speaker 1: our desperation, we need to be able to overcome the
[1:21] Speaker 1: temptation to take the bait when a counterfeit is presented
[1:25] Speaker 1: in our lives. So Philippians four six is the verse
[1:27] Speaker 1: that we're going to open with. And it's a verse
[1:29] Speaker 1: that I really like, and I come to it whenever
[1:31] Speaker 1: I feel anxious desperate, whenever I'm really pleading with God
[1:34] Speaker 1: for something. And Philippians for six says, be anxious for nothing,
[1:38] Speaker 1: but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let
[1:41] Speaker 1: your request be known to God. And the peace of God,
[1:44] Speaker 1: which should pass is all understanding, will guard your hearts
[1:47] Speaker 1: and minds through Christ Jesus. And I love this scripture
[1:51] Speaker 1: because it's so true. Once you actually release your desperation,
[1:55] Speaker 1: your anxieties about the things that you want or need
[1:57] Speaker 1: in your life. The peace that comes is, you know, like,
[2:02] Speaker 1: there's nothing like it. And I like how this verse
[2:04] Speaker 1: specifies in the peace of God. And you only will
[2:08] Speaker 1: get peace from God when it comes to anxieties and desperation.
[2:12] Speaker 1: You will never get it from the world. The world
[2:14] Speaker 1: actually will give you the opposite. It'll egg you on.
[2:17] Speaker 1: It will fulfill your desperation. It'll say, yeah, of course
[2:21] Speaker 1: you're desperate because this thing is so good.
[2:23] Speaker 2: Get it, like, get it.
[2:24] Speaker 1: Right now, with your money, your power, your time, whatever
[2:27] Speaker 1: resource that you have, make sure you get this thing.
[2:29] Speaker 1: It's always pushed on us through consumerism.
[2:33] Speaker 2: Through rom comms.
[2:35] Speaker 1: Through you know, whatever thing that you're desperate for the
[2:38] Speaker 1: world is going to tell you go after it with
[2:39] Speaker 1: all your might. You want that career, you better clock
[2:42] Speaker 1: those eighty hours a week forget about your family. The
[2:45] Speaker 1: world will always validate your desperation. God says, give it
[2:49] Speaker 1: to me, and the peace that I give to you
[2:52] Speaker 1: or surpasses understanding, will guard your heart and your mind
[2:55] Speaker 1: through Christ Jesus. So we know off the bat to
[2:58] Speaker 1: be able to overcome our desperation. The first thing that
[3:00] Speaker 1: we do as we pray, but we already know that, right,
[3:03] Speaker 1: And I think that we get tired of hearing, oh.
[3:05] Speaker 2: Pray about it.
[3:05] Speaker 1: I'm gonna pray for you. I'm gonna pray for you, y'all.
[3:08] Speaker 1: Prayer works, Okay, prayer works. I just had a break
[3:12] Speaker 1: down like two days ago about something, and I was
[3:16] Speaker 1: just so frustrated with the matter. And I'm just like,
[3:19] Speaker 1: I'm tired of just praying like I have been praying,
[3:21] Speaker 1: Like God, I have been praying. But it's like, am
[3:24] Speaker 1: I being specific in my prayer when I'm praying? Am
[3:27] Speaker 1: I actually making it so that I'm paving the way
[3:30] Speaker 1: for this very specific thing to get done? And sometimes
[3:34] Speaker 1: I keep it very general with God, and I'm just like,
[3:36] Speaker 1: why am I keeping it general with him? As if
[3:38] Speaker 1: he already does not have the specifications of the things
[3:42] Speaker 1: that I need or want right now? Be very specific
[3:46] Speaker 1: with God? And that's not for God's benefit. Like I said,
[3:49] Speaker 1: he knows, it's for our benefit. When we pray specifically
[3:53] Speaker 1: and then we see that specific thing getting done, that's
[3:56] Speaker 1: a testimony builder, that's a faith builder for us, so
[4:00] Speaker 1: that we know the next time when we are in
[4:02] Speaker 1: great need, remember that very like that one thing that
[4:06] Speaker 1: you prayed about. God did it exactly. Actually he did
[4:09] Speaker 1: above and beyond what you even prayed for. But he
[4:12] Speaker 1: gave that to you or he worked.
[4:13] Speaker 2: It out right.
[4:15] Speaker 1: We gotta understand, prayer should be our number one. It
[4:18] Speaker 1: should be the number one go to. It should not
[4:20] Speaker 1: be the afterthought after what you tried to do failed.
[4:24] Speaker 1: It should be the first thing that we go to.
[4:28] Speaker 1: And it's not for God. You know, we don't pray
[4:31] Speaker 1: to God for God. Sometimes we feel like we pray
[4:35] Speaker 1: so that God gets like, oh she prayed today, Oh
[4:38] Speaker 1: she's good. God don't need our prayers. We need our prayers.
[4:42] Speaker 1: You are overlooking your blessing. You are actually taking away
[4:46] Speaker 1: from your blessing when prayer is not the number one
[4:49] Speaker 1: thing that you go to. And I know it's hard
[4:52] Speaker 1: to kind of have these ideas of the things that
[4:54] Speaker 1: you could do to accomplish your goals or to get
[4:58] Speaker 1: the things that you want or need. But I'm telling
[5:00] Speaker 1: telling you you do things in your own power, and
[5:02] Speaker 1: you'll have to keep doing things in your own power
[5:04] Speaker 1: to keep it. You do things in your own power
[5:07] Speaker 1: to get that man, all the power that you got
[5:11] Speaker 1: in you, you better be able to keep them too,
[5:13] Speaker 1: you know. So the things that we are desperate for,
[5:16] Speaker 1: when we take it into our own hands, you'll wring
[5:19] Speaker 1: yourself dry trying to keep it. Release it to God.
[5:23] Speaker 1: Go to prayer first, in prayer, with thanksgiving a supplication.
[5:27] Speaker 2: Make your request known to.
[5:28] Speaker 1: God, and the peace from God, which passes understanding, will
[5:33] Speaker 1: guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus Amen. They
[5:36] Speaker 1: ain't not such a good verse. I love that verse.
[5:39] Speaker 1: The next verse I'm gonna share is the verse that
[5:40] Speaker 1: I run to when temptation starts to overcome me, when
[5:43] Speaker 1: it comes to me being desperate for things right and
[5:46] Speaker 1: as first Corinthians ten thirteen, and it says, no temptation
[5:48] Speaker 1: has overtaken you accept such as is common to man.
[5:52] Speaker 1: But God is faithful who will not allow you to
[5:56] Speaker 1: be tempted beyond what you are able. But with the
[5:58] Speaker 1: temptation will also make the way of escape that you
[6:01] Speaker 1: may be able to bear it. And I love this
[6:03] Speaker 1: verse because sometimes as Christians, when we're going through something,
[6:07] Speaker 1: we tend to think that this thing, no one has
[6:09] Speaker 1: ever gone through this.
[6:10] Speaker 2: Oh, this is so hard.
[6:12] Speaker 1: This can't be what the other Christians were going through
[6:14] Speaker 1: back in the day. And the Bible is telling us
[6:17] Speaker 1: there is no temptation that you are going through in
[6:19] Speaker 1: this life that other people have not also been tempted with. Okay,
[6:23] Speaker 1: there's nothing new under the sun. And when you are tempted,
[6:26] Speaker 1: God will always make a way for your escape. I
[6:29] Speaker 1: love that part.
[6:31] Speaker 2: I love that part.
[6:33] Speaker 1: And just knowing that God does not allow us to
[6:36] Speaker 1: be tempted beyond what we can bear, lets me know
[6:38] Speaker 1: that I already have the victory over this temptation. God
[6:42] Speaker 1: has already claimed me victorious over it. He already said
[6:47] Speaker 1: this temptation will not overtake you.
[6:50] Speaker 2: Listen.
[6:50] Speaker 1: I never give you something that you can't overcome, and
[6:53] Speaker 1: I've already made a way for your escape. You have
[6:55] Speaker 1: the tools, you are already victorious. You don't have to
[6:58] Speaker 1: let this overcome you. You don't have to let this
[7:00] Speaker 1: tint your testimony. You don't have to let this steal
[7:04] Speaker 1: anything from your life. You are already overcoming it. I've
[7:07] Speaker 1: already given you what you need to overcome it. Now
[7:09] Speaker 1: at this point, if you want to give into temptation,
[7:12] Speaker 1: it's all you boo.
[7:13] Speaker 2: It's us, you know.
[7:15] Speaker 1: But God has never tempted us beyond what we can bear,
[7:18] Speaker 1: and he has already given us the escape routes. All
[7:21] Speaker 1: this stuff that we deal with is common, y'all. You
[7:24] Speaker 1: think you're the first person to wait for a husband.
[7:27] Speaker 1: You think you're the first person and not have no
[7:28] Speaker 1: money in the bank and not know how you're gonna
[7:30] Speaker 1: pay your bills. You think you're the first person that
[7:33] Speaker 1: has some sickness in the family. One of your kids
[7:36] Speaker 1: is sick like with nothing. All this stuff is common.
[7:40] Speaker 1: And when we're waiting for God to solve any of
[7:42] Speaker 1: our problems, if we are tempted by the counterfeit, God
[7:46] Speaker 1: makes a way for us to escape that temptation. You
[7:48] Speaker 1: just got to lean into Him. And the way that
[7:50] Speaker 1: I personally lean into God when temptations come into my
[7:53] Speaker 1: life is.
[7:55] Speaker 2: I just stop. Like I just stop, y'all.
[7:58] Speaker 1: Whatever I'm doing in the moment, I just stop when
[8:02] Speaker 1: I feel myself coming to the edge of the temptation,
[8:06] Speaker 1: right when I feel myself getting so desperate, I'm getting
[8:10] Speaker 1: worked up, you know, I just stop. In today's culture,
[8:15] Speaker 1: where we feel like we always have to be moving,
[8:16] Speaker 1: we always have to be hustling, we always have to
[8:18] Speaker 1: be productive at doing something, just stopping is the answer.
[8:23] Speaker 1: Sometimes God does not give us gold stars at the
[8:25] Speaker 1: end of the day based on our productivity. God doesn't
[8:28] Speaker 1: care how productive you are. He cares if you're obedient.
[8:32] Speaker 1: He cares if you're stopping and you're listening to him.
[8:34] Speaker 1: And sometimes we have to stop to be able to
[8:37] Speaker 1: listen to him. I realize lately that when I pray,
[8:40] Speaker 1: a lot of the times, I'll pray and I'll pray
[8:43] Speaker 1: for something specific, and I'll pray over it, right, and
[8:46] Speaker 1: then I'll immediately jump into the next thing. So I'll
[8:49] Speaker 1: be at my bedside, you know, the secret place wherever
[8:51] Speaker 1: you pray and you feel like you have this alone
[8:53] Speaker 1: time with God. I'll be you know, pray, you know,
[8:55] Speaker 1: good ten fifteen minutes, you know, maybe something in my
[8:58] Speaker 1: journal that I'm praying over, whatever it is. And then
[9:01] Speaker 1: I'll be like amen, and then I hop up, and
[9:03] Speaker 1: then I'll turn a TV on, or I'll hop up
[9:06] Speaker 1: and I'm scrolling on my phone and I'm just like, wait,
[9:10] Speaker 1: hold the phone, hold the phone. Am I having a
[9:13] Speaker 1: conversation with God?
[9:14] Speaker 2: Or am I not?
[9:15] Speaker 1: Not me?
[9:16] Speaker 2: Playing that? Like the telephone game.
[9:17] Speaker 1: You're like, you know how toddlers have the little plastic
[9:19] Speaker 1: phones and they be talking. Nobody be on the other end, Like,
[9:23] Speaker 1: d okay, I realized that's.
[9:25] Speaker 2: How I treat conversations with God.
[9:27] Speaker 1: Sometimes I'm here yapping away praying, and then I don't
[9:30] Speaker 1: even give him time to answer me. I'm like ba
[9:33] Speaker 1: da da da da. Okay, Amen, I'm cleaning up me
[9:37] Speaker 1: and a cat's doing something. It's like, what sense does
[9:39] Speaker 1: that make? Am I talking to God?
[9:41] Speaker 2: Or am I not?
[9:42] Speaker 1: And if I'm talking to God, how dare I not
[9:44] Speaker 1: give him time to answer me? Like Dug, I'm not
[9:49] Speaker 1: even sitting and being quiet in my quiet place during
[9:54] Speaker 1: my quiet time with God. It's supposed to be quiet.
[9:56] Speaker 1: I'm not even sitting and being quiet. I'm not even
[10:00] Speaker 1: and sitting still after I talk to God? Am my
[10:03] Speaker 1: actually allowing him the space and the time to respond
[10:06] Speaker 1: to me. We complain about not hearing God after we pray,
[10:10] Speaker 1: But are you even giving him room? Are you even
[10:13] Speaker 1: giving him space? Are you giving him time to answer you?
[10:17] Speaker 1: We pray and we jump up to the next thing immediately. Yeah,
[10:20] Speaker 1: of course you don't hear him because now you're on TikTok.
[10:23] Speaker 1: Ten seconds after you god done praying, you're watching a movie.
[10:27] Speaker 1: You immediately turned on the TV after you just got
[10:30] Speaker 1: done praying, of course you can't hear God. I should
[10:33] Speaker 1: never be complaining about not hearing God in my life
[10:35] Speaker 1: when I don't give him the time and the space
[10:37] Speaker 1: to respond to me. I can't recognize his voice in
[10:41] Speaker 1: my life because I don't hear it, because I'm immediately
[10:43] Speaker 1: hopping into the next thing. After prayer, I realized I
[10:46] Speaker 1: had to slow down.
[10:47] Speaker 2: I had to stop. Just stop.
[10:50] Speaker 1: Sometimes just not doing anything is the answer or the
[10:55] Speaker 1: way to hear the answer. And now that we realize
[10:57] Speaker 1: that no temptation or desperation has the power to overcome us,
[11:01] Speaker 1: that the Lord would never tempt us beyond what we
[11:03] Speaker 1: can bear, that he always gives us a way out
[11:06] Speaker 1: of the temptation. Now that we know that we're victorious
[11:08] Speaker 1: over those things, we also realize that the victory of
[11:11] Speaker 1: not falling for the temptation, not falling for the counterfeit presented,
[11:17] Speaker 1: is greater than the temporary satisfaction that we may get
[11:20] Speaker 1: from it.
[11:20] Speaker 2: Matthew four, verse ten through eleven.
[11:23] Speaker 1: And this is when Jesus was tempted by the devil
[11:25] Speaker 1: after forty days of fasting. Right, he's vulnerable, sorry, he's
[11:28] Speaker 1: in the wilderness alone, hungry, weak, The devil always comes
[11:33] Speaker 1: to you when you're desperate. Then Jesus said to him,
[11:36] Speaker 1: away with you, sayan, for it is written, you shall
[11:38] Speaker 1: worship the Lord, your God, and him only you shall serve.
[11:42] Speaker 1: Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and
[11:45] Speaker 1: ministered to him. And that last verse verse eleven, talking
[11:50] Speaker 1: about after the devil left, the angels came and ministered
[11:53] Speaker 1: to him.
[11:54] Speaker 2: Just imagine where we would be in.
[11:56] Speaker 1: Our lives, the things that we would have experienced if
[12:00] Speaker 1: we did not let our temptations and our desperations overcome us.
[12:04] Speaker 1: If you are constantly falling for the counterfeit, if you're
[12:07] Speaker 1: constantly falling for what the devil has for you instead
[12:10] Speaker 1: of waiting for God's promise, if you're constantly falling victim
[12:13] Speaker 1: to your own desperation, how will you ever experience angels
[12:18] Speaker 1: ministering to you? How will you ever experience the victory?
[12:22] Speaker 1: You are always feel defeated. You're always going to fall
[12:25] Speaker 1: into the cycle of desperation, falling for temptation, defeat, desperation,
[12:30] Speaker 1: falling for temptation, defeat. Let's break that cycle. We can
[12:34] Speaker 1: break that cycle. And then when we talk about the
[12:37] Speaker 1: victory of not falling for your temptation is greater than
[12:41] Speaker 1: temporary satisfaction. Let's talk about the temporary satisfaction. Okay, key,
[12:46] Speaker 1: wear it temporary, and sometimes it don't even really be satisfying.
[12:51] Speaker 1: I realize once I came back to Christ, right, I
[12:56] Speaker 1: had this certain thing that I was struggling with that
[12:58] Speaker 1: always felt good to me before Christ, pre Christ, and
[13:02] Speaker 1: I never had a problem with it, or I guess
[13:05] Speaker 1: not pre Christ, but when I was living in the
[13:08] Speaker 1: world right, and then the temptation re emerged after I
[13:12] Speaker 1: gave my life back to Christ and after I fell
[13:14] Speaker 1: for it.
[13:15] Speaker 2: I sat back and I realized, like, yo, that didn't
[13:19] Speaker 2: hit like.
[13:22] Speaker 1: This didn't feel as good as it used to, Like
[13:25] Speaker 1: that low key didn't hit like sin doesn't even feel
[13:29] Speaker 1: as good as it used to. And I realized, I
[13:32] Speaker 1: don't even want this anymore. So now not only have
[13:34] Speaker 1: I fallen and I'm falling into sin, and now I
[13:38] Speaker 1: have to repent and you know, talk to God and
[13:41] Speaker 1: you know, get back up. Not only have I failed,
[13:46] Speaker 1: but what I failed for didn't even really feel that good.
[13:51] Speaker 1: And this is just a testament to the closer you
[13:53] Speaker 1: get to Christ, sin really stops feeling good like the
[13:56] Speaker 1: sin just don't hit like it used to. I used
[14:00] Speaker 1: to really get deep, like when I tell you, like
[14:03] Speaker 1: deep personal satisfaction from certain things. Like it used to
[14:06] Speaker 1: feel really good when I did certain sin back in
[14:10] Speaker 1: the day.
[14:11] Speaker 2: I try to do that. Now it doesn't even It's
[14:15] Speaker 2: like that was it like?
[14:19] Speaker 1: And I think that it's more than just a mental Well,
[14:22] Speaker 1: I know it's more than just a mental thing. It's
[14:23] Speaker 1: a physical thing. Because we know that sin is physical
[14:27] Speaker 1: and ps I'm thirty eight. David writes about the physical
[14:29] Speaker 1: repercussions of sin. He says, let's start in verse two.
[14:34] Speaker 1: For your arros pierce me deeply, and your hand presses
[14:37] Speaker 1: me down. There is no soundness in my flesh because
[14:39] Speaker 1: of your anger, nor any health in my bones because
[14:42] Speaker 1: of my sin. He doesn't have health in his bones
[14:45] Speaker 1: because of his sin. For my iniquities have gone over
[14:48] Speaker 1: my head like a heavy burden. They are too heavy
[14:50] Speaker 1: for me. My wounds are foul and festering because of
[14:53] Speaker 1: my foolishness.
[14:54] Speaker 2: I am troubled.
[14:56] Speaker 1: My wounds are foul and festering because of my foolish See,
[15:02] Speaker 1: we like to do foolishness and then blame God when
[15:05] Speaker 1: stuff don't work out.
[15:06] Speaker 2: Ahm ah, I'm bookie. Ah ahm, Bookie. Let's reel it
[15:09] Speaker 2: back in.
[15:11] Speaker 1: My wounds are foul and festering because of my foolishness,
[15:14] Speaker 1: your foolishness, my foolishness.
[15:17] Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, clock that seat, Okay. I am troubled. I
[15:20] Speaker 2: am bowed down greatly.
[15:22] Speaker 1: I go mourning all the day long, for my loins
[15:24] Speaker 1: are full of inflammation, and there is no soundness in
[15:26] Speaker 1: my flesh. I am feeble and severely broken. I've grown
[15:30] Speaker 1: because of the turmoil of my heart. Lord, all my
[15:32] Speaker 1: desires before you, and my signing is not hidden from you,
[15:35] Speaker 1: my heart pants. My strength fails me, as for the
[15:38] Speaker 1: light of my eyes it also has gone from me.
[15:41] Speaker 1: And then David goes on and on and on talking
[15:43] Speaker 1: about how he physically feels the repercussions of his sin.
[15:48] Speaker 1: Sin is not something that just surrounds us. It's not
[15:50] Speaker 1: always just spiritual. Physically, you can feel your sin. When
[15:55] Speaker 1: you're deep in sin, things physically feel different. That's why
[15:59] Speaker 1: when you get saved or when you come back to Christ,
[16:02] Speaker 1: you be like, oh, I can't even listen to that music,
[16:05] Speaker 1: Like I physically cringe. I can't even listen to that
[16:08] Speaker 1: I can't watch that anymore. I'm more aware of this.
[16:12] Speaker 1: I can't do what I used to do. It doesn't
[16:14] Speaker 1: feel good to me anymore.
[16:15] Speaker 2: Sin literally has a feeling to it.
[16:18] Speaker 1: You are a new creature in Christ. There is a
[16:21] Speaker 1: one hundred percent renewal, and that's why sin just doesn't
[16:25] Speaker 1: hit the same anymore. You can't enjoy your sin anymore.
[16:27] Speaker 1: I sat back and I was just like dog like,
[16:31] Speaker 1: he really has saved me from this sin. He has
[16:33] Speaker 1: saved me from not only wanting to do this sin,
[16:37] Speaker 1: but also the physical payoff, the reward that I felt
[16:41] Speaker 1: like I used to get from this sin. I don't
[16:43] Speaker 1: even have that anymore, any incentive I have to sin
[16:46] Speaker 1: in this way.
[16:47] Speaker 2: I'm good. It literally is doing nothing for me anyway.
[16:52] Speaker 1: We need to practice not letting weak, temporary satisfaction be
[16:57] Speaker 1: greater to us in the moment than the victory that
[17:01] Speaker 1: we have over our sin, the victory that we have
[17:03] Speaker 1: over our temptations, over our desperation, the victory that we
[17:06] Speaker 1: can claim over not accepting counterfeits in our lives. And
[17:10] Speaker 1: I think we need to have a deep conversation also
[17:12] Speaker 1: about when you accept a counterfeit in your life, you
[17:15] Speaker 1: may think it's not doing that much damage, right, Like
[17:18] Speaker 1: I'm just doing this until something better comes along. You
[17:22] Speaker 1: have to come to terms with the fact that something
[17:24] Speaker 1: better may never come along because you're keeping the counterfeit
[17:28] Speaker 1: next to you. So if we're talking about relationships, for example,
[17:31] Speaker 1: and you have a man in your life that you
[17:33] Speaker 1: know God told you that you should not be with,
[17:35] Speaker 1: and sometimes it doesn't even take God telling us that
[17:38] Speaker 1: we shouldn't be with this person. We know, we know
[17:42] Speaker 1: this man don't let to go to church, So why
[17:44] Speaker 1: are you, as a Christian woman dating him? This man
[17:47] Speaker 1: curses and likes to go out and drink, So why
[17:50] Speaker 1: are you, as a Christian woman trying to date this man.
[17:53] Speaker 1: God don't have to thump us on the head to
[17:55] Speaker 1: tell us. It's sitting right in front of us. Sometimes,
[17:58] Speaker 1: like that be the thing for me, Like a lot
[18:01] Speaker 1: of us be praying about, Oh God, remove this person
[18:03] Speaker 1: from my life. Bro, the answer is sitting right here,
[18:09] Speaker 1: clear as day. Just get rid of them, Just.
[18:15] Speaker 2: Get rid of them.
[18:16] Speaker 1: We be praying to asking God to do things that
[18:19] Speaker 1: we can do in a second that He has already
[18:21] Speaker 1: given us the power to do. Sometimes I know he'd
[18:24] Speaker 1: be looking down on us like, girl, actually, I ain't
[18:26] Speaker 1: gonna do nothing because I'm waiting to see what you're
[18:28] Speaker 1: gonna do. And I've experienced that before too, keeping relationships
[18:32] Speaker 1: that I shouldn't and praying over them.
[18:35] Speaker 2: Like, well, God, you got control over this.
[18:38] Speaker 1: If I shouldn't be with this person, or I shouldn't
[18:40] Speaker 1: be friends with this person, or I shouldn't be dating
[18:42] Speaker 1: this person, just remove them.
[18:44] Speaker 2: The whole time he up there.
[18:45] Speaker 1: With his arms crossed like, nah, you remove him, Nah,
[18:49] Speaker 1: you remove him.
[18:50] Speaker 2: Actually, I've experienced this, y'all.
[18:53] Speaker 1: I've always said, you know, God would do a Rico
[18:55] Speaker 1: sweep when you pray the removal prayer. I personally experience God,
[19:00] Speaker 1: I'm not removing that person. Actually, God allowing him to
[19:03] Speaker 1: stick around because God is testing me. He wants to
[19:05] Speaker 1: see what I'm going to do. He wants to see
[19:08] Speaker 1: if I'm going to obey. No, I'm not gonna remove
[19:11] Speaker 1: this person. Let's see what you're gonna do with MONI.
[19:13] Speaker 1: Because I've already given you the resources to know that
[19:16] Speaker 1: this is not right. I've given you the Holy Spirit
[19:19] Speaker 1: to tell you that it's not right. You're ignoring these things.
[19:21] Speaker 1: I'm testing you. I'm trying to see what you're gonna do.
[19:24] Speaker 1: I'm testing your obedience.
[19:26] Speaker 2: But yes, let's.
[19:27] Speaker 1: Say that you're holding on to a romantic relationship that
[19:30] Speaker 1: you know that you should not be engaging with. But
[19:32] Speaker 1: you're like, oh, it's not that serious, because well, you know,
[19:35] Speaker 1: I'm not gonna stop him from finding my husband. Don't
[19:37] Speaker 1: let your boyfriend stop you from finding your husband. If
[19:39] Speaker 1: God's to me my husband, I'll say by to him.
[19:42] Speaker 2: M M.
[19:42] Speaker 1: It don't work like that. You can't have one foot in,
[19:45] Speaker 1: one foot out with God. He's never been a one
[19:48] Speaker 1: foot in, one foot out type of God. You know that,
[19:50] Speaker 1: He's never been a straddle the fence. He's never been
[19:53] Speaker 1: a keep something around until something better comes along. No,
[19:56] Speaker 1: you trust him and you give your all to him,
[19:58] Speaker 1: and that's when you see him work. You can't be
[20:00] Speaker 1: praying for what God has for you but still holding
[20:03] Speaker 1: on to the luggage, the baggage.
[20:07] Speaker 2: God do not work like that.
[20:09] Speaker 1: Until you are able to release everything out of your
[20:12] Speaker 1: life that you should not have and fully put your
[20:15] Speaker 1: faith and trust in him. That's when he reveals himself.
[20:18] Speaker 1: Can God reveal himself in any situation? Of course, y'all.
[20:21] Speaker 1: But all I'm saying is you cannot expect God to
[20:24] Speaker 1: move in your life when you are still wilfully holding
[20:27] Speaker 1: on to sin and holding on to something that He
[20:29] Speaker 1: told you that you do not need and you should
[20:31] Speaker 1: not have in your life. And when you're holding on
[20:34] Speaker 1: to that man that you know you should not be
[20:36] Speaker 1: with just to satisfy the time, just because you're lonely.
[20:39] Speaker 1: Oh he okay for right now. But when God sind
[20:42] Speaker 1: his big one, then that's you know, I'm not gonna
[20:45] Speaker 1: let him stop me from my husband. Like I said,
[20:47] Speaker 1: all you're doing is proving to yourself that you don't
[20:49] Speaker 1: fully trust God and delaying what God actually has for you.
[20:53] Speaker 1: He is an all or nothing God. You are with
[20:56] Speaker 1: him or against him. Jesus himself said that you are
[21:00] Speaker 1: a friend or an enemy. You are going to heaven
[21:03] Speaker 1: or you are going to hell. It ain't no in between.
[21:06] Speaker 1: It never has been.
[21:07] Speaker 2: With God.
[21:08] Speaker 1: He has always been a very black and white God.
[21:11] Speaker 1: You obey him or you're not in the story. And
[21:15] Speaker 1: this is something that I recently just had to put
[21:17] Speaker 1: to practice in my own life, like, no, I can't
[21:20] Speaker 1: keep things around in my life to temporarily satisfy me.
[21:24] Speaker 1: But at the same time saying well, if God has
[21:26] Speaker 1: something better for me, he'll give it to me. No,
[21:29] Speaker 1: I can't entertain sin but still hope that God gives
[21:33] Speaker 1: me what I.
[21:33] Speaker 2: Want out of life. It don't work like that.
[21:36] Speaker 1: I had to recently be like, no, I'm going to
[21:39] Speaker 1: give God my all because that's how he's going to
[21:43] Speaker 1: show up in my life. When God shows up, he
[21:46] Speaker 1: gives it his all. Right, So why shouldn't we be
[21:48] Speaker 1: giving our all to him? So in this season of
[21:51] Speaker 1: us letting go of our desperation, letting go of the
[21:54] Speaker 1: temptation that comes from one team to take that counterfeit
[21:58] Speaker 1: that is presented to us, when we understand that we
[22:02] Speaker 1: don't have to be anxious for it, we pray number
[22:04] Speaker 1: one also that no temptation has the power over us.
[22:08] Speaker 1: And when we understand that we are already victorious and
[22:12] Speaker 1: that the victory of not falling is far greater than
[22:16] Speaker 1: any kind of temporary satisfaction, that's when we truly release desperation.
[22:22] Speaker 1: That's when we truly say, Okay, God, I'm going all
[22:25] Speaker 1: in for you because I want to see everything that
[22:28] Speaker 1: you have for me. I'm not trailing behind anything that
[22:31] Speaker 1: is temporary in my life. I'm not holding on to anything.
[22:34] Speaker 1: I'm releasing my hands of everything. This is how you
[22:37] Speaker 1: let go of your desperation, you guys. This is how
[22:40] Speaker 1: through the word you understand man like, I don't have
[22:44] Speaker 1: to be desperate for anything, I don't have to be anxious.
[22:46] Speaker 2: I don't have to accept the counterfeit.
[22:48] Speaker 1: My God that lives through me has already overcome the world,
[22:52] Speaker 1: so He's already overcome this too. And this is just
[22:55] Speaker 1: the encouragement that I need when I feel desperate. I
[22:58] Speaker 1: just remind myself of these versus and it recenters me
[23:03] Speaker 1: and it allows me to really release it so that
[23:06] Speaker 1: the peace that God has for me over this situation
[23:09] Speaker 1: will allow me to not be impatient, not be desperate,
[23:12] Speaker 1: not you know, release it all. So we're gonna close
[23:16] Speaker 1: out with this episode. I hope that you guys have
[23:18] Speaker 1: enjoyed this series. I am gonna take a little bit
[23:20] Speaker 1: of a break from the podcast. I won't be posting
[23:22] Speaker 1: next week, but I will be starting back up in July,
[23:25] Speaker 1: where we are going to go through a Proverbs a day.
[23:28] Speaker 1: I've never done that before and I really want to
[23:30] Speaker 1: try it. So yeah, we're gonna do a Proverbs a day.
[23:33] Speaker 1: That's very ambitious for me with posting consistently, but I
[23:36] Speaker 1: want to do it. And we are going to together
[23:39] Speaker 1: go through Proverbs for July, and I just hope that
[23:42] Speaker 1: you guys are yeah, that you that you're following me,
[23:45] Speaker 1: you're subscribed, and we'll go through it together because I've
[23:47] Speaker 1: never done it either.
[23:49] Speaker 2: Proverbs was really a feat for.
[23:51] Speaker 1: Me when I was reading through the Bible, so I
[23:52] Speaker 1: figure there is a certain way to break this down
[23:55] Speaker 1: to make a little bit more palatable, and of Proverbs
[23:58] Speaker 1: a day, I think is really going to be a
[24:00] Speaker 1: great study. So I will see you guys in July.
[24:03] Speaker 1: Have a great rest of June, and yeah, I'll see
[24:06] Speaker 1: you guys later.
[24:07] Speaker 2: Bye.
