[0:00] Speaker 1: Hi everyone, welcome back to the Amani Talks podcast.
[0:03] Speaker 2: You're here with your host Amani on.
[0:04] Speaker 1: The podcast where we discuss our Christian based topics and
[0:08] Speaker 1: deepening our relationship with the Lord. And we are continuing
[0:11] Speaker 1: on in our Proverb a Day series, we highlight a
[0:14] Speaker 1: key verse, we talk about a portion of scripture that
[0:16] Speaker 1: really resonates with us. And yeah, that's how we're going
[0:19] Speaker 1: to get through the Book of Proverbs so that we
[0:21] Speaker 1: can say we have read a chapter or a book
[0:24] Speaker 1: of the Bible. So let's get into chapter nine, all right,
[0:28] Speaker 1: let's read. Wisdom has built her house, She has honed
[0:32] Speaker 1: out her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her meat, she
[0:35] Speaker 1: has mixed her wine. She has also furnished her table.
[0:39] Speaker 1: She has sent out her maidens. She cries out from
[0:42] Speaker 1: the highest places of the city. Whoever is simple, let
[0:45] Speaker 1: him turn in here. As for him who lacks understanding,
[0:48] Speaker 1: she says to him, come, eat of my bread and
[0:51] Speaker 1: drink of the wine I have mixed. Forsake foolishness, and
[0:54] Speaker 1: live and go in the way of understanding. He who
[0:58] Speaker 1: corrects a scoffer gets shamed for him, And he who
[1:01] Speaker 1: rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct
[1:05] Speaker 1: a scoffer lest he hates you. Rebuke a wise man
[1:08] Speaker 1: and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man,
[1:11] Speaker 1: and he will be still wiser. Teach a just man,
[1:14] Speaker 1: and he will increase in learning. The fear of the
[1:17] Speaker 1: Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of
[1:19] Speaker 1: the Holy One is understanding.
[1:21] Speaker 2: For by me your days will be multiplied, and years
[1:24] Speaker 2: of your life will be added to you. If you
[1:26] Speaker 2: are wise, you are wise for yourself. And if you scoff,
[1:29] Speaker 2: you will bear it alone.
[1:30] Speaker 1: A foolish woman is clamorous. She is simple and knows nothing.
[1:34] Speaker 1: For she sits by the door of her house, on
[1:36] Speaker 1: a seat by the highest places of the city, to
[1:39] Speaker 1: call to those who pass by, who go straight on
[1:42] Speaker 1: their way. Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.
[1:44] Speaker 1: And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him,
[1:47] Speaker 1: stolen water is sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
[1:52] Speaker 1: But he does not know that the debtor there, that
[1:54] Speaker 1: her guests are in the depths of hell. Proverbs nine,
[1:58] Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen. So I was reading through Proverbs nine before,
[2:02] Speaker 1: because of course I read, and I try to get
[2:04] Speaker 1: my points and try to understand before I come on
[2:07] Speaker 1: and we talk about it in the morning. And let's
[2:10] Speaker 1: just get straight into it, because I have a lot
[2:12] Speaker 1: to say about a few verses of Proverbs nine, specifically
[2:15] Speaker 1: verses seven through nine. So let's go ahead and reread that,
[2:19] Speaker 1: and then I'm going to really expand on it. So
[2:24] Speaker 1: seven through nine, Proverbs nine says, he who corrects a
[2:27] Speaker 1: scoffer gets shame for himself, and he who rebukes a
[2:31] Speaker 1: wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct a scoffer
[2:34] Speaker 1: lest he hates you. Rebuke a wise man and he
[2:36] Speaker 1: will love you. Give instruction to a wise man and
[2:39] Speaker 1: he will still be wiser. Teach a just man, and
[2:42] Speaker 1: he will increase in learning. So I specifically wanted to
[2:45] Speaker 1: talk about those verses because my mom and I were
[2:47] Speaker 1: just having this conversation last week about it makes no
[2:51] Speaker 1: sense to try to constantly drill common sense, to try
[2:56] Speaker 1: to drill what you would consider like this is just
[3:01] Speaker 1: basic logic, this is just basic understanding. Sorry, y'all, my
[3:04] Speaker 1: cats are running around. You are quite literally wasting your
[3:08] Speaker 1: breath when you try to reason with people of the world.
[3:11] Speaker 1: We as Christians, that's not our place to do. It's
[3:15] Speaker 1: not our place to try to change someone's mind. And
[3:18] Speaker 1: when I used to do the podcast before God turned
[3:22] Speaker 1: it around, and you know, now we talk about the
[3:24] Speaker 1: Bible and we talk about God and everything like that,
[3:26] Speaker 1: when I was still talking about relationships and I would
[3:29] Speaker 1: have men come on and they would say the most
[3:30] Speaker 1: diabolical things and you would look at them.
[3:33] Speaker 2: Like, are you are you slow? Like I what you know?
[3:39] Speaker 1: People would say the most like cringey things that just
[3:43] Speaker 1: one percent did not make sense, and you look at
[3:45] Speaker 1: them like, is it a mental illness or is it drugs?
[3:49] Speaker 1: Because that's the only thing that would explain why you're
[3:53] Speaker 1: so ignorant. And even when I would talk to women
[3:56] Speaker 1: on my social media, when I would make videos about
[3:59] Speaker 1: stuff trying and going out of your way to be
[4:02] Speaker 1: a baby mother, it does not benefit you. And there
[4:05] Speaker 1: are women that would be in the comments saying that
[4:08] Speaker 1: they want it to be a baby mother, They wanted
[4:11] Speaker 1: to struggle. They are purposefully going to give a man
[4:15] Speaker 1: a baby outside of marriage because oh, well, okay, so
[4:19] Speaker 1: we are dealing with very slow people here, and that's
[4:22] Speaker 1: what I would think, like, man, a lot of people
[4:24] Speaker 1: are just very slow. But then you read Proverbs nine
[4:29] Speaker 1: and you see where the Bible is clearly telling you
[4:32] Speaker 1: it is not your job to try to give correction
[4:35] Speaker 1: to worldly people. That's not our job. When Jesus left
[4:40] Speaker 1: the earth the Great Commission, the last thing he told
[4:43] Speaker 1: his disciples was to go out and make other disciples
[4:46] Speaker 1: by preaching the gospel. He never said go out and
[4:50] Speaker 1: try to convince anyone. He never said go out and
[4:53] Speaker 1: try to debate anyone. He never said any of that.
[4:56] Speaker 1: It is quite literally not our job. And you are
[4:59] Speaker 1: wasting your breath. And not only are you wasting your breath,
[5:01] Speaker 1: you're doing more harm than good because verse seven says
[5:05] Speaker 1: he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself, and
[5:09] Speaker 1: then verse eight says, do not correct a scoffer lest
[5:12] Speaker 1: he hates you. I think a lot of times we
[5:14] Speaker 1: as Christians, we take for granted the fact that there
[5:18] Speaker 1: was probably somebody in your life, especially as an African American,
[5:23] Speaker 1: because African American culture is really based on Christianity.
[5:27] Speaker 2: It really is. So even if your parents didn't make
[5:31] Speaker 2: you go.
[5:31] Speaker 1: To church, you had a praying grandma that was always
[5:33] Speaker 1: like Lord will in it, praying over you when she
[5:36] Speaker 1: was always playing gospel. That's the only reason that you
[5:39] Speaker 1: know gospel songs today is because of your grandmother, or
[5:41] Speaker 1: you had an aunt and an uncle who didn't play.
[5:44] Speaker 1: We had somebody that was close in our immediate family
[5:47] Speaker 1: that was leaning on God even if we weren't right.
[5:51] Speaker 1: A lot of Christians take for granted the fact that
[5:53] Speaker 1: we grew up in the church like I did, so
[5:55] Speaker 1: there was a lot that I just ought to Like
[5:57] Speaker 1: I was saved at a young age. I grew up
[5:59] Speaker 1: in church, so I was already reading the Bible. Whether
[6:02] Speaker 1: or not I decided to actually live it out is one.
[6:04] Speaker 2: Thing, but I knew it.
[6:06] Speaker 1: And so getting older, and it seemed like people just
[6:09] Speaker 1: didn't know very basic common decency, like basic courtesy things
[6:15] Speaker 1: that I learned as a toddler because I grew up
[6:17] Speaker 1: in church. You look at them like men, you are
[6:20] Speaker 1: really off like what It's almost astonishing. But we take
[6:25] Speaker 1: for granted the fact that, like I said, especially as
[6:28] Speaker 1: Black Americans, that we had somebody in our family taking
[6:32] Speaker 1: us to church, teaching us that, because a new generation
[6:34] Speaker 1: doesn't have that at all. When I was coming up,
[6:37] Speaker 1: if you were living in your parents' house, you went
[6:39] Speaker 1: to church. It was not an option, Like you couldn't
[6:42] Speaker 1: opt out of church. Just like you couldn't opt out
[6:45] Speaker 1: of school, you were going to church every Sunday. Now
[6:47] Speaker 1: parents don't make their kids go to church anymore. So
[6:49] Speaker 1: it's very easy for us to grow up with this
[6:53] Speaker 1: sense of understanding because at least we've heard it right,
[6:57] Speaker 1: and to look at other people like why do you
[7:00] Speaker 1: not have like what's the disconnect here? Why do you
[7:03] Speaker 1: not have the same type of background or knowledge things
[7:06] Speaker 1: that we think are easy peasy because we heard it
[7:09] Speaker 1: in Sunday School. When we get older and we start
[7:12] Speaker 1: to see the differences in how people were raised, and
[7:14] Speaker 1: we realize, man, yeah, y'all didn't go to Sunday school.
[7:18] Speaker 1: Y'all wasn't singing. Father Abraham has many sons, many sons
[7:23] Speaker 1: as like y'all wasn't singing the Sunday school songs.
[7:26] Speaker 2: So that's why it's not clicking for y'all. It's we're different.
[7:30] Speaker 1: So it's like you almost can't blame people because it's
[7:33] Speaker 1: not their fault that they don't have what we would
[7:35] Speaker 1: consider very common sense, common courtesy, common decency. Because sin
[7:40] Speaker 1: has blinded the world, they are literally walking around the blind,
[7:44] Speaker 1: leading the blind. The Holy Spirit gives us sight. The
[7:47] Speaker 1: Holy Spirit is the light in the dark world. The
[7:50] Speaker 1: only reason why we have understanding on what we would
[7:53] Speaker 1: consider very basic principal life lessons is because of the
[7:56] Speaker 1: Word and the Holy Spirit that gives us the understanding
[8:00] Speaker 1: to interpret the world the Word. Sorry, but the world
[8:03] Speaker 1: does not have that understanding, and it made me. It
[8:05] Speaker 1: reminded me of a few verses. First Corinthians two fourteen.
[8:08] Speaker 1: But the natural man does not receive the things of
[8:11] Speaker 1: the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him,
[8:14] Speaker 1: nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
[8:16] Speaker 1: Second Corinthians four to four. But even if our gospel
[8:19] Speaker 1: is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
[8:22] Speaker 1: whose minds the God of this age has blinded, who
[8:25] Speaker 1: do not believe, lest the light of the Gospel of
[8:28] Speaker 1: the glory of Christ, who is the image of God,
[8:30] Speaker 1: should shine on them. John twelve forty says, He has
[8:33] Speaker 1: blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should
[8:37] Speaker 1: see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts,
[8:40] Speaker 1: in turn, so that I should heal them. Second Corinthians
[8:43] Speaker 1: four to six says, for it is the God who
[8:45] Speaker 1: commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shwn
[8:48] Speaker 1: in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge
[8:50] Speaker 1: of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
[8:53] Speaker 1: So these four verses are telling us the world does
[8:55] Speaker 1: not understand us because they are blinded. They are blinded
[8:59] Speaker 1: still in their s, like I said in second Corinthians
[9:01] Speaker 1: four to four, whose minds the God of this age
[9:04] Speaker 1: has blinded?
[9:05] Speaker 2: Who is the god of this age? The devil.
[9:08] Speaker 1: The devil is the prince of the cities. The devil
[9:11] Speaker 1: is the one that is prowling around the earth, walking
[9:13] Speaker 1: to and fro seeking whom he may devour. The devil
[9:17] Speaker 1: has a lot of dominion on this earth. It used
[9:19] Speaker 1: to be us when Adam and Eve were made in
[9:22] Speaker 1: the image of God, the Lord himself said that man
[9:25] Speaker 1: has dominion over the earth. But when sin entered them,
[9:28] Speaker 1: they no longer had that dominion. They lost that power
[9:31] Speaker 1: over the earth. Now the Prince of the a A rules,
[9:34] Speaker 1: the gods of darkness rules, and those gods are the
[9:37] Speaker 1: gods that blind these people, worldly people, people who are
[9:40] Speaker 1: just walking around in darkness. And the only reason that
[9:43] Speaker 1: we have light second Corinthians for success, for it is
[9:46] Speaker 1: the God who commanded the light to shine out of
[9:48] Speaker 1: darkness who has shown in our hearts to give the
[9:50] Speaker 1: light of the knowledge of the glory of God and the.
[9:52] Speaker 2: Face of Jesus Christ.
[9:53] Speaker 1: So even our understanding, you know, it's easy for us
[9:56] Speaker 1: to kind of boast on it and be like men.
[9:59] Speaker 1: You know, Christians got the ch We talked about that
[10:01] Speaker 1: a few episodes back, and yeah, we do, but we
[10:04] Speaker 1: only have the cheek code because of the Holy Spirit.
[10:06] Speaker 1: It was a gift, and that gift is not given
[10:09] Speaker 1: to everybody. They're either not saved yet or they will
[10:12] Speaker 1: never be saved, they will never receive godly knowledge and
[10:15] Speaker 1: godly wisdom. So it is absolutely futile for us as
[10:18] Speaker 1: Christians to try to argue with non believers, to try
[10:23] Speaker 1: to debate them, to try to convince them that is
[10:25] Speaker 1: not your place. And like the Bible says, all they're
[10:28] Speaker 1: going to do is hate you for it. All you're
[10:30] Speaker 1: going to do is harm yourself when you try to
[10:32] Speaker 1: debate these worldly people. And that reminds me of this
[10:36] Speaker 1: girl on TikTok. I forgot what her name is, but
[10:38] Speaker 1: she claims that she's a Christian, and she said that
[10:40] Speaker 1: she was going to debate this woman on TikTok who
[10:42] Speaker 1: goes by like Jasmine the Witch or something like that.
[10:45] Speaker 1: But she is a witch, y'all. Like she is a witch.
[10:48] Speaker 1: She is a self proclaimed witch. And my whole thing
[10:51] Speaker 1: is I knew off the bat. You should not be
[10:54] Speaker 1: doing that because someone who is a self proclaimed witch,
[10:57] Speaker 1: they're not looking to talk to a Christian because they're
[11:00] Speaker 1: curious about the things of God. No, they're just looking
[11:03] Speaker 1: to have that back and forth debate. And Christians should
[11:06] Speaker 1: never debate. First of all, we should never argue. We
[11:10] Speaker 1: should never try to convince. We should never debate, because
[11:12] Speaker 1: the whole point of a debate is what so that
[11:15] Speaker 1: one person's argument prevails over the other persons, so that
[11:18] Speaker 1: there is a winner and a loser. But that's not
[11:21] Speaker 1: the point. When the Lord told us to go out
[11:23] Speaker 1: and make disciples and to preach the gospel, he never
[11:26] Speaker 1: said debate the gospel. He never said argue the gospel.
[11:29] Speaker 1: He never said try to convince people of the gospel.
[11:32] Speaker 1: All he said is to spread the gospel, spread that seed,
[11:34] Speaker 1: plant the seed. That is the only responsibility we have
[11:38] Speaker 1: when it comes to us going out and spreading the gospel.
[11:40] Speaker 1: You try to debate somebody and then somebody comes out
[11:42] Speaker 1: a winner, and somebody comes out a loser. What happens
[11:45] Speaker 1: in that situation? Somebody comes out full of resentment? I
[11:48] Speaker 1: guarantee you, because let's say that you're a Christian debating
[11:51] Speaker 1: a witch and you do end up winning the argument,
[11:53] Speaker 1: even though I don't know what the argument it is,
[11:55] Speaker 1: because what are you arguing about? The love of Jesus
[11:58] Speaker 1: Christ is not an argument? Right, So even if you
[12:02] Speaker 1: do come out the winner, what's gonna happen to the loser?
[12:04] Speaker 1: Are they going to leave a conversation with a Christian
[12:07] Speaker 1: feeling empowered?
[12:08] Speaker 2: No, they're gonna feel defeated.
[12:10] Speaker 1: And why should someone leave a conversation or an interaction
[12:13] Speaker 1: with God's people feeling defeated, feeling angry because they lost,
[12:17] Speaker 1: feeling resentful. They should leave feeling the opposite. They should
[12:21] Speaker 1: leave feeling like, hmmm, I'm interested in what they got
[12:25] Speaker 1: going on because I see that they love a certain way,
[12:29] Speaker 1: not dang I lost this round. Let me try to
[12:32] Speaker 1: like that's what That's not what the dynamic should ever be.
[12:35] Speaker 1: So when we as Christians are going out and we
[12:38] Speaker 1: are trying to spread the gospel, we're trying to make disciples,
[12:40] Speaker 1: and we encounter someone that is very clearly trying to
[12:43] Speaker 1: be argumentative. We should be backing away from that, because
[12:46] Speaker 1: what did the Lord tell his disciples before or after? No,
[12:49] Speaker 1: it was before he gave his disciples the power to
[12:52] Speaker 1: cast out demons, and he was like, go and you know, do.
[12:54] Speaker 2: The work or whatever. What did he tell them?
[12:56] Speaker 1: If there is a city that does not receive you,
[12:58] Speaker 1: you shake the sind off your sind and you keep
[13:00] Speaker 1: it moving. If you go and give someone good news,
[13:03] Speaker 1: the Gospel, the love of Jesus and they do not
[13:05] Speaker 1: accept it, at that point, you're free of your obligation.
[13:11] Speaker 1: I mean, you've already fulfilled your obligation to just spread
[13:14] Speaker 1: the gospel. Anything further than that you have to let
[13:16] Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit work. And I feel like a lot
[13:18] Speaker 1: of times when we as Christians try to debate worldly people,
[13:21] Speaker 1: there's a certain ego in that transaction because you feel
[13:25] Speaker 1: like I can convince them, I can change their mind. No, baby,
[13:29] Speaker 1: you're not, because people who are literally spiritually dead are
[13:33] Speaker 1: not awakened by you. They're awakened by the Holy Spirit.
[13:36] Speaker 1: And the Holy Spirit God himself told us to not
[13:40] Speaker 1: try to convince people. Do not try to rebuke a scoffer,
[13:43] Speaker 1: Do not try to rebuke a wicked man. And I
[13:47] Speaker 1: love that Proverbs nine gives us this tidbit of information
[13:51] Speaker 1: because it just confirms once again that there is a
[13:54] Speaker 1: weight taking off the shoulder of Christians when it comes
[13:57] Speaker 1: to our responsibility about what we should be doing and
[14:00] Speaker 1: how we should be moving.
[14:01] Speaker 2: If it was up to us.
[14:03] Speaker 1: To convince a world full of darkness that Jesus is good, baby,
[14:09] Speaker 1: you could talk to your blue in the face. You
[14:10] Speaker 1: would probably get nowhere. If that was truly our jobs,
[14:13] Speaker 1: we would die without that job getting accomplished.
[14:16] Speaker 2: Thank God.
[14:17] Speaker 1: It's not our job to convince anyone that God is good.
[14:20] Speaker 1: It is our job to tell people that, not to
[14:22] Speaker 1: convince you. If I look up in the sky and
[14:25] Speaker 1: I tell you that the sky is blue and you
[14:26] Speaker 1: say nods green, baby, conversation's over.
[14:30] Speaker 2: Okay.
[14:30] Speaker 1: Now, the Bible does tell us that we need to
[14:32] Speaker 1: be able to defend our faith. The Bible does say
[14:35] Speaker 1: that you need to be able to give an account
[14:37] Speaker 1: about what you believe. So if someone comes to you
[14:40] Speaker 1: and they ask you about why do you believe this?
[14:43] Speaker 1: Or how do I become a Christian? How do I
[14:45] Speaker 1: get saved? You, as a Christian better have that spel
[14:48] Speaker 1: in your head to give an account. Have those certain
[14:51] Speaker 1: verses that you always pull from that you reference. You
[14:54] Speaker 1: need to have an account for your faith. Yes, you
[14:57] Speaker 1: need to be able to defend your faith, yes, but
[14:59] Speaker 1: a arguing your faith absolutely not. It does more harm
[15:05] Speaker 1: than good. The Bible is telling us that. So our
[15:08] Speaker 1: job as Christians and the only job that we have, well,
[15:12] Speaker 1: the number one job I guess is to go out
[15:15] Speaker 1: in the world and love and preach the Gospel using
[15:17] Speaker 1: the spiritual gifts that the Lord has given us. Anything
[15:21] Speaker 1: more than that, we leave it in God's hands. We
[15:23] Speaker 1: leave it in the Holy Spirit's hands.
[15:25] Speaker 2: Amen.
[15:25] Speaker 1: So Proverbs nine seven through nine gives a lot of
[15:28] Speaker 1: wisdom when it comes to Christians and how we should
[15:30] Speaker 1: deal with unbelievers. But on the flip side, Proverbs nine
[15:35] Speaker 1: seven through nine also tells us how to deal with
[15:38] Speaker 1: people that claim to be children of God as well,
[15:42] Speaker 1: because in this day and age, a Christian could literally
[15:45] Speaker 1: be calling out a plain as day's sin that is
[15:48] Speaker 1: right in front of them, And what would these soul
[15:51] Speaker 1: called Christians say? What is the first thing that people
[15:54] Speaker 1: love to say?
[15:55] Speaker 2: Now?
[15:55] Speaker 1: What is their first go to rebuttal anytime plain as
[15:58] Speaker 1: day's sin is called out. Oh, judgment, you're judging. You're
[16:04] Speaker 1: being judgmental, holier than now? Doesn't the Bible say that
[16:07] Speaker 1: do not condemn, hon I'm not condemning you. I'm literally
[16:11] Speaker 1: just telling you that you're sinning. Wouldn't you prefer for
[16:14] Speaker 1: a brother or sister in Christ to call you out
[16:16] Speaker 1: on your sin before it eats you alive? Proverbs nine
[16:20] Speaker 1: seven through nine is also the instruction about how you're
[16:23] Speaker 1: able to differentiate people who are truly living in Christ
[16:26] Speaker 1: and people who are just living in their own pride
[16:28] Speaker 1: and ego. So let's say you take a sister in
[16:30] Speaker 1: Christ off to the side and you tell her, hasis
[16:32] Speaker 1: I know you well enough to know that there is
[16:34] Speaker 1: something going on in your life that should not be there.
[16:37] Speaker 1: Do you want to talk about it? Do you need prayer?
[16:39] Speaker 1: But we need to get this monkey off your back,
[16:42] Speaker 1: you know, like, I want to see you thrive in
[16:44] Speaker 1: this life, and I see this sin in your life.
[16:46] Speaker 2: It could go either of two ways.
[16:48] Speaker 1: That person could immediately take offense and automatically go into
[16:52] Speaker 1: defense mode and say you can't judge me, worry about
[16:55] Speaker 1: your own life, worry about your.
[16:56] Speaker 2: Own business, stay out of my business. You don't know
[16:59] Speaker 2: what's going on. You know.
[17:01] Speaker 1: That's the way a lot of people respond if they
[17:02] Speaker 1: were to be confronted with sin in their lives. And
[17:05] Speaker 1: that's if they are already cognizant of the sin in
[17:08] Speaker 1: their life, like they know that they're sinning, but when
[17:10] Speaker 1: someone calls them out about it, and all of a sudden,
[17:12] Speaker 1: it's stay in your own lane, mind your business. Let's
[17:16] Speaker 1: say that it hadn't risen to the point of consciousness
[17:19] Speaker 1: with them yet, you know, because a lot of stuff
[17:21] Speaker 1: that we do, other people can peep and we don't
[17:24] Speaker 1: even know what's going on because it could be rooted
[17:26] Speaker 1: in pride and we haven't clocked it for ourselves yet.
[17:29] Speaker 2: So that's why a sister in Christ has to clock
[17:32] Speaker 2: it for us.
[17:32] Speaker 1: And it hasn't even gained consciousness yet. And you say, okay,
[17:36] Speaker 1: let me take this back to the Lord and let
[17:38] Speaker 1: me pray on it. And then you pray on it,
[17:40] Speaker 1: and maybe it is true that person should be able
[17:43] Speaker 1: to come back and thank you and say thank you
[17:45] Speaker 1: for correcting me, because I brought it to the Lord
[17:48] Speaker 1: and he actually confirmed.
[17:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, I do struggle with that.
[17:50] Speaker 1: Thank you for saving me from making a bigger mistake
[17:53] Speaker 1: letting that sin grow. Thank you for correcting me. Now
[17:57] Speaker 1: I've repented and I feel like a is off my shoulders.
[18:01] Speaker 1: I feel good with God again. Thank you for bringing
[18:03] Speaker 1: that up with me. Just like verse eight says, rebuke
[18:06] Speaker 1: a wise man and he will love you. See, the
[18:09] Speaker 1: world will always take offense to correction. The world does
[18:13] Speaker 1: not want instruction. The world does not want correction. Why
[18:16] Speaker 1: because the world is blinded by the gods.
[18:18] Speaker 2: Of this age.
[18:19] Speaker 1: They are spiritually blinded. They have zero spiritual insight. They
[18:23] Speaker 1: don't know who God is. Because if they knew who
[18:26] Speaker 1: God is, they would have godly wisdom, they would have
[18:29] Speaker 1: godly instruction, they would take in godly rebuke. But the
[18:33] Speaker 1: world runs to a fence. The world will say that
[18:37] Speaker 1: you're judging, when all you're doing is pointing out is
[18:40] Speaker 1: sin for their benefit. And then what gets me is
[18:43] Speaker 1: the world will say only God can judge me. Because
[18:46] Speaker 1: here's the thing. Even if people are not living in Christ,
[18:48] Speaker 1: they know who Jesus is, they know who God is,
[18:51] Speaker 1: and they will say only God can judge me. Baby,
[18:54] Speaker 1: I'm trying to save you so that it doesn't get
[18:56] Speaker 1: to that point you say only God can judge you
[18:59] Speaker 1: like that's what you prefer. Oh baby, you don't want
[19:02] Speaker 1: it to get there. I'm trying to save you from
[19:04] Speaker 1: that judgment before God judges you.
[19:06] Speaker 2: For that sin.
[19:07] Speaker 1: Repent for that sin right now, because if you die
[19:10] Speaker 1: in that sin, if you die without being saved, if
[19:14] Speaker 1: you die without ever being able to take any kind
[19:17] Speaker 1: of godly correction, godly rebuke, because you are blinded by
[19:20] Speaker 1: your sin, it won't look too good for you. And
[19:25] Speaker 1: that's why the Bible says a wise man accepts correction
[19:29] Speaker 1: and loves you when you rebuke them in the name
[19:31] Speaker 1: of the Lord, because they know that you're trying to
[19:34] Speaker 1: save them from something. But worldly people that are still
[19:37] Speaker 1: living in sin, they don't know any better. So to them,
[19:40] Speaker 1: everything is judgment. Everything should be taken offensively. Everything is
[19:44] Speaker 1: don't condemn me. Not all of sudden. You know your Bible.
[19:47] Speaker 1: Oh okay, now, all of a sudden you want to
[19:50] Speaker 1: quote scripture. But when someone is coming to you lovingly
[19:54] Speaker 1: and telling you, nah, that ain't it sis, you want
[19:57] Speaker 1: to run to a fence. And that's why I really
[20:01] Speaker 1: appreciated Proverbs ND, specifically that portion of Scripture. So as
[20:05] Speaker 1: you can see, this is Obviously my portion of the
[20:07] Speaker 1: chapter that really resonated with me because I'm just like
[20:10] Speaker 1: man that is so spot on. You cannot argue with
[20:14] Speaker 1: the world. You cannot convince them. It is not your
[20:17] Speaker 1: job to debate them. The world will hate you when
[20:21] Speaker 1: you try to lead them the right way. They will
[20:23] Speaker 1: hate you when you try to correct their sin. But
[20:26] Speaker 1: God's people should not operate in that way. God's people
[20:29] Speaker 1: should accept instruction with humility. They should accept rebuke knowing
[20:34] Speaker 1: that the sister or brother in Christ who gave them
[20:36] Speaker 1: that rebuke only has their best interest in mind. They
[20:40] Speaker 1: should take it to the Lord and really ask the
[20:42] Speaker 1: Lord to search their heart. That's what God's people do.
[20:46] Speaker 1: So whenever you are out in the world and you
[20:48] Speaker 1: were met with defensiveness, you were met with your being judgmental,
[20:54] Speaker 1: just understand these people just don't get it yet, and
[20:57] Speaker 1: all you have to do is plant that seed, pray
[21:00] Speaker 1: for them, shake the sand off your sandals, and move
[21:03] Speaker 1: it on.
[21:04] Speaker 2: Keep it moving.
[21:05] Speaker 1: Move on to the next city, move on to the
[21:07] Speaker 1: next person, move on to the next person that the
[21:10] Speaker 1: Holy Spirit is telling you to talk to. And that's it. Man,
[21:13] Speaker 1: I feel like I really went in with just those
[21:15] Speaker 1: three verses. I'm telling y'all, like the Bible just reveals
[21:18] Speaker 1: so much about the things that you go through every
[21:22] Speaker 1: single day. And Proverbs, this book of wisdom. I love
[21:25] Speaker 1: when we get into the practical application of it. I
[21:28] Speaker 1: love when I can pull from it. And I'm just like, man,
[21:30] Speaker 1: like this is so true, Like I'm dealing with this
[21:33] Speaker 1: right now. These are things that we as Christians will
[21:36] Speaker 1: deal with. And the wisdom that Proverbs gives that we
[21:40] Speaker 1: are able to apply to our lives will keep us,
[21:43] Speaker 1: will save us from bad situations, will increase us. And
[21:49] Speaker 1: that's what the entire word does. The entire book of
[21:52] Speaker 1: the Bible is only for our benefit. I'm telling y'all, it.
[21:55] Speaker 2: Is our cheat code. So I hope that you guys.
[21:57] Speaker 2: My cats are going crazy.
[22:00] Speaker 1: I don't know where they got this sudden burst of energy,
[22:02] Speaker 1: but I hope that you guys have enjoyed Proverbs nine.
[22:04] Speaker 1: We will be back with Proverbs ten tomorrow morning, and
[22:07] Speaker 1: I will talk to you guys then bye.
