[0:14] Hello and welcome to More Than Headlines, your weekly anime news
[0:17] podcast.
[0:17] Powered by Audio Technica Made by Australians for Global Citizens.
[0:22] I'm your extremely humble host and humbly tired today, Brendan White,
[0:25] AKA the salt and pepper senpai.
[0:27] And joining in the studio, my trusted co host and rival who is
[0:31] also walking wounded.
[0:32] So please be kind to us today.
[0:34] She's the Nezaco to my Tangero, Mrs.
[0:36] Courtney Smith.
[0:37] How the bloody hell are you?
[0:39] I.
[0:40] I'm good, mentally.
[0:42] Mentally I feel good.
[0:43] Physically.
[0:44] I'm unwell, everyone.
[0:46] I've been struck by a head cold over the weekend.
[0:50] But how are you, Brendan?
[0:52] I'm doing okay.
[0:53] No head cold, just.
[0:54] Just exhausted.
[0:55] I've been on four different flights the past five days or something
[1:00] like that.
[1:01] So my body is just adjusting to where I am now and it's good to
[1:04] be home, it's good to be here in the studio with you.
[1:07] But yeah, we're both a little delicate at the moment.
[1:10] So yeah, send all those thoughts and prayers to us, listeners,
[1:13] viewers and everybody else in between because we need them.
[1:16] We need them to survive and keep bringing the greatness that
[1:19] is more than headlines.
[1:20] I also really put you to work this week.
[1:25] We got.
[1:26] So we went to dinner.
[1:27] Bren and I went to dinner.
[1:28] Guys, we live in different states so it's hard for us to catch
[1:32] up, but sometimes we do get to.
[1:35] And this week we went and had really nice Italian food together
[1:40] and then we recorded a promo video for our big announcement that
[1:46] I think we're going to be announcing this week.
[1:48] Right, you are correct there, my ill little rival.
[1:52] We will be having some formal announcements coming this way on
[1:55] the socials, so keep those eyes and ears peeled because yeah,
[2:00] we've been working on some pretty cool stuff the last little
[2:02] while and I'm personally excited to sort of show the world
[2:06] what we got cooking now and into the future.
[2:07] It's going to be a good time.
[2:09] Yeah, me too.
[2:09] It's going to be so exciting.
[2:11] The world's not ready for what's to come.
[2:13] But yeah, check us out on them socials to stay up to date with things
[2:17] there because all will be revealed very, very soon.
[2:21] But what do you think, Courtney?
[2:22] Shall we just do what we always do here on MTH and jump into
[2:25] the news?
[2:26] Let's read the news.
[2:27] You like the news?
[2:31] If that doesn't cure a head cold, I don't know what will.
[2:35] Okay, I am tackling the first piece of headline number one here
[2:41] and the Hagakura anime is being postponed indefinitely.
[2:45] From episode 8 onwards.
[2:47] The series started airing this season, but is being paused due to
[2:50] concerns over drops in quality.
[2:52] While the series goes on this break, the first six episodes will
[2:55] be rebroadcast weekly during the same time slots.
[3:00] If you haven't been watching Haigakura, the series follows a young
[3:03] man named Ichiyo who's on a quest to capture the four evil gods
[3:07] of his realm who have run away.
[3:09] I was originally going to watch this anime, but after seeing
[3:12] the score tape, a very deep nosedive, I decided to give it a
[3:16] pass.
[3:17] And now I'm kind of glad that I did.
[3:19] And, and it's funny because I'm probably the more open minded
[3:24] type when it comes to some of these anime where if the score is
[3:27] a little subpar, I'm still usually open to it.
[3:30] And as I was traveling this week and I was sort of queuing up
[3:33] some stuff on my iPad to watch in the airports and on the planes
[3:36] and stuff, I.
[3:37] I looked at this and hovered over it for a couple of seconds thinking
[3:41] maybe, maybe, but something just felt amiss.
[3:44] I didn't know of this news, I didn't know of the, the steep decline
[3:48] in quality, but there was just something in me saying, no, let's,
[3:51] let's look elsewhere.
[3:51] So I've parked this, but I applaud that the studio and producers
[3:55] have made the hard call here and said, you know what, let's, let's
[3:58] hit pause, let's go back to the studio and try and improve on
[4:03] this, this content and maybe I know reimagine some of the stuff
[4:07] they did in the previous episodes.
[4:08] I don't know if they're going to rework the stuff that's out or
[4:11] if they're just going to focus on the future episodes to come.
[4:14] But like I admire and respect them for saying, you know what, this
[4:17] isn't to the stand we want it to be.
[4:19] Let's just, yeah, let's, let's hit stop.
[4:21] Let's reevaluate and see if we can bring out something better to
[4:24] salvage this franchise.
[4:26] And you know, that's something that I wish 8bit would do a little
[4:29] bit in regarding to Blue Lock and some of their animations that
[4:32] still drive me insane.
[4:33] But yeah, that's my thoughts.
[4:34] Yeah, I agree.
[4:35] I think more anime should take a leaf out of this book and take
[4:39] the time to focus on the quality of the product being released.
[4:42] And we've already had discussions recently about the sheer
[4:45] amount of anime coming out each season and how hard it is to
[4:48] keep up.
[4:49] Not only for obviously studios and the animators but also for fans.
[4:54] Like there's over 20 anime coming out every three months and
[4:59] that like it's hard to watch so much content.
[5:03] But of course people in the industry are under the most pressure
[5:06] and I'm very glad that they are taking this time.
[5:10] Yeah, they could have also done something like this with Uzumaki.
[5:13] But yeah, lest we forget those second, third and fourth episodes
[5:17] because the first was so good.
[5:18] Yeah, I feel like they spent a lot of time on that first one and
[5:21] then, you know, it really hooked people in.
[5:24] But anyway, I want to talk about something super exciting because
[5:31] over this past week we got very big and fun announcement that
[5:37] the Disney Twisted Wonderland, the animation project will premiere
[5:41] on Disney in October 2025 and run for three seasons.
[5:46] The three seasons will each cover the in game episodes of Harzabuel,
[5:50] Savannah Claw and Octavanelle.
[5:53] And the anime is based off the off of the game of the same name,
[5:57] which is an Otome game that centers around school houses themed
[6:00] around different Disney villains.
[6:02] The game's concept and character designs were created by
[6:05] Yana tso, the mangaka of Black Butler, which I know you love and
[6:10] adore.
[6:10] Courtney.
[6:11] Yes.
[6:12] So I have been super deep into this game lately and I love it.
[6:16] Shout out to Leah Williams, the writer for Games Hub.
[6:20] She was actually the one that suggested it to me.
[6:23] Like when she first came up to me and suggested it, she was like,
[6:26] oh, there's this Disney mobile game.
[6:28] And I was like, nah, not interested and care about Disney.
[6:31] And then did she say there's hot boys?
[6:33] And you went okay, that's literally what she said.
[6:35] She's like there's hot anime boys.
[6:37] And I was like, all right, what's it called?
[6:40] And I've been grinding because yeah, I'm not a Disney girly, but
[6:45] I'm a huge fan of Otome games and Twisted Wonderland ticks every
[6:49] box.
[6:50] There's card Gacha, there's auto battling, there's a rhythm game.
[6:54] What is not to love?
[6:57] So of course I'm very excited for the anime and especially since
[7:00] I love the Obey Me anime a lot, which is like the similar thing.
[7:03] Like it was a Gacha Otome game on mobile and they made an anime
[7:07] of it.
[7:08] I'm.
[7:09] I'm intrigued by this one.
[7:10] If I remember correct, you did some some hype for Twisted Wonderland
[7:15] in a previous episode and was it like, was it a werewolf?
[7:18] Like a wolf boy?
[7:19] Oh my God.
[7:19] I think was your main guy.
[7:21] If I remember right, it was a wolf boy, wasn't it?
[7:23] That was your Little.
[7:23] Your crush.
[7:24] Okay, yes, but I've changed.
[7:26] Okay, okay.
[7:27] So my current Twisted Wonderland crush is Floyd, who is
[7:32] supposed to be similar to Flotsam from the Little Mermaid,
[7:37] but his personality is really cheeky and not so much that he enjoys
[7:43] pranks, but he's very self centered, which I really like.
[7:48] I've sort of got a mental checklist of things that I know that
[7:51] you latch onto in games and also the characters that you know,
[7:56] get you excited or stimulate you mentally or emotionally.
[8:00] And there's some common threads here across all these games
[8:03] and franchises.
[8:04] It's, it's, it's, it's fun, I gotta say that, but it's, it's Twisted
[8:08] Wonderland sounds interesting, but like Black Butler I've enjoyed
[8:12] over the years nowhere to the extent of yourself, because that
[8:14] was your gateway anime.
[8:16] It will always hold a space near and dear in your heart.
[8:19] But yeah, they're, they're both sort of out of my periphery
[8:22] for the most part, but it sounds kind of cool.
[8:26] I am riding, I think, your hype wave as well.
[8:29] As far as you cheerleading this franchise in this universe going,
[8:32] you know what open minds lead to open doors.
[8:35] Let's give this a look next year.
[8:37] I love also that they've already confirmed three seasons.
[8:40] Like, I think that's a very bold step for them to say, hey, we're
[8:43] going to commit to at least three seasons, hopefully tell a nice
[8:46] complete story because as you know, there's nothing worse than
[8:49] getting attached to a new franchise.
[8:51] And then after season one or you know, film one or whatever the
[8:54] world is, they just go, you know what?
[8:56] That's it.
[8:56] It didn't make the money, we're out and you don't get a complete
[8:59] sort of story told for yourself.
[9:01] So yeah, I'm curious, I'm curious regarding the three seasons,
[9:04] if it's going to be, you know, 25, 26, 27 as far as the years when
[9:09] it comes out, or if they're going to just maybe stack them in
[9:11] in shorter succession.
[9:12] But yeah, I'm keen to check out these hot anime adjacent Disney
[9:17] villains, that's for sure.
[9:18] I am actually also kind of curious about the seasons because
[9:21] so in the game, all right, that's it, we're diving in, we're
[9:24] getting into it.
[9:25] So in the game, each episode has like 20 to 30 or 40 chapters
[9:34] and each episode is about one kind of villain or one house.
[9:39] So the first one, Heartsabule, is the Queen of Hearts.
[9:42] And that's like the story of the house warden, like the main prefect
[9:47] in that house.
[9:48] And then they have one obviously for Savannah Claw which
[9:51] is Scar.
[9:52] And then they have what's the octopus Octavenil.
[9:57] Yeah.
[9:57] Oh like Ursula.
[9:58] Ursula.
[9:58] Ursula.
[9:59] That's right.
[10:00] So they all have their own episodes which is like comprised
[10:05] of like maybe not even like five hours of story.
[10:08] It's probably like two hours.
[10:11] So I think I'm wondering how they will release it.
[10:15] Like are the episodes going to be shorter?
[10:16] 5 minute episodes and it's like 125 minute episodes which is
[10:21] what they did with Obey Me.
[10:23] But I think it also means we're probably.
[10:26] We're most likely going to get more seasons because currently they're
[10:29] up to episode or chapter seven in the game.
[10:33] So could.
[10:35] Could be more.
[10:36] It's good to see like I love that Disney are branching out more
[10:39] and we're seeing that more with the like it's not in the docket
[10:42] here but the.
[10:43] The Star wars related content they're like leaning and leveraging
[10:46] off so many fantastic anime studios to constantly make stuff
[10:50] in that world as well.
[10:51] And it is some of the strongest stuff that Disney have
[10:54] released from an animation perspective in quite a while.
[10:56] So yeah, they're consistently building out their anime sort of
[10:59] back catalog and library.
[11:01] So there's a lot of choice coming out for as otaku's now which
[11:04] is great.
[11:05] Love to see it.
[11:07] All right, something else is great.
[11:08] We've got some new Kaiju number 8 news this past week and
[11:12] with the announcement of a compilation film.
[11:15] The film is a compilation and recap of all the episodes of season
[11:18] one of the anime and will screen in Japanese theaters from
[11:21] March 28th of next year.
[11:23] A new original episode titled Hoshina's Day off will also be screened
[11:26] with the compilation film and is a brand new anime original episode
[11:30] written by UTO Sakura, the creator of Food wars, one of my favorite
[11:35] franchises of all time.
[11:37] So I am so excited.
[11:38] Courtney.
[11:39] Literally eating well.
[11:41] With the second season of the anime streaming on Crunchyroll next
[11:44] year, it'll be good to have the compilation film as a way for
[11:47] people to recap before they dive back into the world of Kaiju
[11:50] Number eight.
[11:51] And hopefully we also get the new Hoshina's Day off episode on
[11:55] streaming services here in Australia because I personally am
[11:59] a huge fan of original and filler episodes.
[12:03] Me too, me too.
[12:04] I like because it's just such a tone differentiator from what we're
[12:08] used to and those little quieter moments just allow us to
[12:11] breathe, get a little bit more familiar and intimate with these
[12:14] characters and it's just a fun Time and a great addition to, you
[12:17] know, the broader universe as a whole.
[12:19] So, yeah, give me all of the Kaiju related content.
[12:22] If we can somehow get a Kaiju number eight slash Food wars crossover
[12:26] one day.
[12:27] Holy shit.
[12:28] I will die instantly.
[12:30] But yeah, I'm super excited.
[12:32] But I also want to shout out in regards to Kaiju and that universe,
[12:36] where is my goddamn Shinomiya statue?
[12:38] I ordered this thing months ago.
[12:41] It was meant to be here in June.
[12:42] Crunchyroll.
[12:43] Then you moved it to July, now August, and apparently now It's April
[12:47] of 2025.
[12:48] It's going to get here.
[12:49] I'm so upset because it's a great statue and I want it on the
[12:52] shelf back here.
[12:53] They just keep doing me dirty.
[12:55] They have to paint her clothes.
[12:57] That's why it's taking so long.
[12:59] They have to make it perfect for you.
[13:00] Brendan.
[13:01] Okay, I can appreciate that.
[13:03] Like if it's perfection that's going to arrive in a little under
[13:07] six months time, that's fine.
[13:08] But it's like, don't have a release date like in June and then
[13:13] go, actually, now it's July, now it's August.
[13:15] Sorry.
[13:15] Now it's April.
[13:16] Like, I reckon it's going to keep getting kicked down the line
[13:18] and it's never going to get here.
[13:19] And like the Statue is like 250 bucks.
[13:22] Like it wasn't, wasn't a little cheapy.
[13:24] Like she's a very detailed statue and I want to have sort of
[13:27] pride of place back here for the audio lists.
[13:29] I'm sorry, I'm pointing to my shelving.
[13:30] But yeah, she's just out there in the ether doing her own thing
[13:34] with a big axe.
[13:36] I'm sure, I'm sure she'll arrive safe and sound in April.
[13:40] Fingers crossed.
[13:42] But okay.
[13:43] I will say this is the only manga that I am fully caught up on
[13:49] that's like currently being published.
[13:52] It's the only one that I'm currently reading because I love
[13:55] Gen so much.
[13:57] Yeah, he's your boy.
[13:58] He is like very close to Tomoe, like on the charts.
[14:03] Like, I love him.
[14:06] Like, I have the tattoo.
[14:08] I literally have him tattooed on me.
[14:10] Like, anyway, so the thing I'm most excited about, season two of
[14:16] Kaiju Number eight is the appearance of him because he was
[14:20] teased in the.
[14:21] At the very end of the last episode of season one.
[14:25] And the best part is he's going to be voiced by one of my favorite
[14:29] Japanese voice actors, Kouki Uchiyama.
[14:33] He voices Rin in blue.
[14:35] Look, Itoshi Rin.
[14:36] He voices Shigaraki in My Hero, Inumaki in jjk, and Tsukishima
[14:43] in Haikyuu.
[14:44] So he's got that kind of, like, sultry, like, bored sounding
[14:49] voice, which I love.
[14:51] That's on.
[14:51] That's on the list in my head as well.
[14:53] As far as things you love about characters, the one thing that
[14:58] does well, it didn't ruffle my feathers a ton, but it certainly
[15:02] got the Internet in a fluster.
[15:04] Regarding Gen's transition into the anime, the character model
[15:09] is a little lacking compared to the manga.
[15:11] I feel they've done him dirty in a few ways.
[15:14] So I hope that changes when we get more Gen time for season two.
[15:19] Because there was a few moments where I'm like, you are such
[15:21] a force in the manga.
[15:23] And, like, he's an amazing character.
[15:24] To get me wrong, I love him, but when I saw him translated to
[15:26] screen, I was just like, I think we will.
[15:29] Because I think he has.
[15:31] He's one of those characters where the mangaka would draw him
[15:35] two kinds of ways, and one is the really, like, blank, like, flat
[15:40] face because he is that kind of, like, lazy character.
[15:45] So they used that to express it.
[15:47] So when he first appeared on screen, it was him being like, oh,
[15:51] why am I here?
[15:52] Just deadpan.
[15:53] No selling anything.
[15:54] Just wants to play video games.
[15:56] Yeah.
[15:56] So I think once we get into his kind of actual arc and action,
[16:00] I think we'll definitely get to see him looking like an absolute
[16:04] daddy.
[16:05] Yeah.
[16:06] And I also want to say I'm proud of you for persisting in reading
[16:09] the manga, because we're not going to spoil anything here.
[16:12] But holy guacamole.
[16:14] Like, the latest chapters, where it's.
[16:15] Where it's taking us just like, whoa.
[16:18] All right.
[16:19] Like, yeah, I'm not spoiling a damn thing, but it is such a great
[16:23] read, and it's still just drawn so well, and it's just a fantastic
[16:28] experience overall, whether you're in the anime or the manga.
[16:31] Like, it is still one of my favorite pieces of content out there.
[16:33] I genuinely had no idea that it was gonna go where it's gone,
[16:38] and I'm like, so just gagged.
[16:42] I can't.
[16:43] I even have words.
[16:45] It felt like it sort of just refreshed everything.
[16:49] Like, it was, you know, big stakes, big Kaiju battles, really
[16:52] cool stuff happening all the time.
[16:54] But where they've taken it from, like, the last few chapters,
[16:57] I'm like, man, it just feels almost like a reset in a way.
[17:00] Yeah.
[17:00] And now the stakes are just completely unknown again with what
[17:03] could or could not transpire from Here, like, yeah, it's so good.
[17:06] Yeah, so good.
[17:07] It's insanely cool.
[17:08] And it's really like, you know, as someone who doesn't read
[17:12] much manga, being able to read this, like, you know, every month
[17:16] as a new chapter comes out has been really, really nice.
[17:19] Yeah.
[17:19] And then the B side stuff they do as well, where we do get a little
[17:22] bit of backstory and some downtime without with our MCs is
[17:25] always good as well.
[17:26] So.
[17:27] Yeah, Kaiju no Bait's still one of the best franchises that I've
[17:31] jumped into in any form this year by a long way.
[17:33] All right, let's get into some rapid fire news on the horizon.
[17:38] Presented by Otaku Box, the only anime boxes, scale figures,
[17:41] voting and ecchi, if you are so inclined.
[17:45] First story is a bit of a.
[17:48] Bit of a wild one.
[17:50] So Best Genist.
[17:53] Yes.
[17:53] The hero from my hero academia has won the real life Best Genist
[17:59] award.
[18:00] And did you know, Courtney, that Best Genist has won this award
[18:04] eight years in a row?
[18:06] Yeah.
[18:06] No one can defeat Best Genist.
[18:08] I mean, he's.
[18:10] He is the Best genist.
[18:11] Like he.
[18:12] So the.
[18:14] The law here is that his character was written based on the
[18:19] award.
[18:20] Like, he's really.
[18:22] Yeah.
[18:22] So the reason he exists is because of the Best Genist award.
[18:26] Because this award has been going since I think the 80s in Japan
[18:30] and basically is awarded to people who have made great strides
[18:35] in the denim industry.
[18:37] Whether that's people who wear denim really well, people who make
[18:40] cool, you know, clothing from denim, that kind of thing.
[18:45] Thank you Japan for your weird and wonderful cultural quirks.
[18:53] But yeah, Best Genus exists because of this award.
[18:56] I love it.
[18:57] Like, I remember coming across Best Genist, like when I first sort
[19:02] of jumped into season one of the anime, and I'm like, who is this
[19:05] character and why is he just wearing one giant pair of jeans?
[19:09] Like, why does he have a jean leg and a belt covering his face?
[19:12] Like, I don't understand what's happening.
[19:14] But then you find out he's one of the.
[19:16] The strongest heroes in Japan and now is, you know, an award winner
[19:20] getting a lot of love from the Japan Jeans Council.
[19:23] Like, like you said, it's just.
[19:25] That's just Japan personified for you right there, I think.
[19:28] Like, I'm not surprised.
[19:29] It's just.
[19:29] It's great though.
[19:30] It's.
[19:31] Yeah, just a great little, like, fact as well.
[19:34] Like, if you're listening and you're talking to your friends about
[19:37] anime.
[19:37] Yeah.
[19:38] Best Genus actually has won a real life award eight times in A
[19:42] row.
[19:43] So great.
[19:44] So great.
[19:45] So the next piece of news is very exciting and I think really
[19:50] points to a shift that's happening in anime distribution.
[19:53] But Sanrio is going to be streaming the A Cinema Role anime
[19:58] in English on YouTube.
[20:01] So this series is like a mini series about Cinema Roll and his
[20:06] adventures and it's going to be streaming on YouTube now for free
[20:11] officially every Friday or Saturday for us at like for us I
[20:17] guess in the morning.
[20:19] But yeah, we're just getting full episodes in English dub of this
[20:25] show.
[20:26] Yeah, it's.
[20:27] It's great.
[20:28] I'm all for it.
[20:29] The.
[20:29] The series debuted with the English dub as of two days ago.
[20:33] So yeah, that first episode, you can go cop right now on YouTube
[20:37] which is yeah, a good time to be had for all.
[20:40] But yeah, like you said, I like that this is making anime as
[20:46] yet again more accessible and they're trying to cater to broader
[20:49] audiences and trying to grab more of the, you know, the English
[20:52] speaking communities out there with I cinema role here.
[20:55] And will I watch it every week?
[20:57] Probably not.
[20:58] Will I just live through you giving me updates on this?
[21:00] Most definitely.
[21:01] But I'll certainly cop an episode or two to see what's going
[21:04] on because it is cute and it is fun and we need that in our lives
[21:07] sometimes times.
[21:08] Yeah, it's.
[21:10] It's nice.
[21:11] It's nice.
[21:11] I like these little anime.
[21:13] Obviously Chikawa is my main one, so I might pick up Ice Cinema
[21:18] Roll.
[21:18] He's a cute little guy.
[21:19] I've forgotten the name of my guy that I.
[21:21] I backed when we were first talking about Cinema Roll.
[21:23] A Pom Pom Purin.
[21:25] Pom Pom Purin.
[21:26] Yeah.
[21:26] That's my boy.
[21:28] Dog.
[21:29] Dog butt.
[21:30] Dog Butt.
[21:31] Yeah.
[21:32] And the last bit of rapid fire news we have is Sazae san has extended
[21:37] the Guinness World record for the longest animated show to 55 years.
[21:43] From 50 years.
[21:45] So yeah, this show has been running for 55 years now.
[21:49] It has over 8,500 episodes.
[21:54] It's one of my favorite trivia questions to ask people which anime
[21:58] has the most episodes?
[21:59] Because people always say one Piece.
[22:01] I'm like no.
[22:02] Yeah, one piece has 1/8 of the amount of episodes of Sazae san.
[22:07] Yes.
[22:07] Sazae san is the most.
[22:08] But yeah, so it originally got the 40 longest running show at 45
[22:17] years, then 50 years and it's been renewed again at 55 years.
[22:22] It's really impressive.
[22:23] And even the lady that voices Sazae San, Suzai Fukuta, she's also
[22:28] got the own.
[22:30] Her own Guinness world record for voicing like the longest career
[22:33] as a voice actor for the same character of an animated TV series.
[22:36] In parentheses for the female.
[22:38] Yeah.
[22:38] Shout out to both the Sazai San anime itself as well as Sazai
[22:42] Fukuta, who.
[22:44] Yeah.
[22:44] Award winners.
[22:45] 55 years is insane.
[22:47] It's so cool.
[22:49] Like, just for that, like, that's a, you know, almost a lifetime.
[22:54] That's a lifetime.
[22:54] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[22:56] I'll be happy if I live past 55, let alone do something for 55
[22:59] years straight.
[23:00] So shout out to everyone involved in this franchise.
[23:03] Hell yeah.
[23:04] Let's talk about what we've been watching though, because while
[23:09] I haven't had time to watch loads of anime, I did actually get
[23:13] to watch something else this week.
[23:16] So I got to go and see Hatsune Miku Live in concert in Sydney on
[23:23] Wednesday.
[23:25] It was amazing.
[23:25] Yeah, I'm not at all jealous.
[23:27] Shout out also to Live Nation for slinging us a couple of media
[23:31] passes to get along and cover this one.
[23:32] But sadly, my work scheduling decided to fist me seven ways from
[23:37] Sunday and I couldn't align to either this Sydney or the Melbourne
[23:40] shows.
[23:40] So Courtney went in my absence there.
[23:43] I saw a lot of great coverage on the socials from yourself and
[23:48] from many friends of the podcast here, having a great time
[23:51] singing and dancing along.
[23:53] Tell me, what was the vibe like?
[23:54] What's the energy like in that stadium?
[23:57] Because it was.
[23:57] It's hard to gather because obviously for those that don't know,
[24:00] like, this is a digital character on a screen doing her thing.
[24:03] There is.
[24:04] There is like a real life band around the stage and there's some
[24:07] real people woven into this experience.
[24:09] But for the most part, like, Hatsune is a digital avatar that
[24:14] we're seeing do her thing.
[24:15] And like, is that jarring?
[24:16] Is that like any less of an experience compared to like traditional
[24:20] concert?
[24:20] Like, you know, you've been to many concerts and gigs, but you said
[24:24] you had a great time regardless, so.
[24:25] So give me the play by play.
[24:26] Honestly, I thought it was going to be jarring.
[24:29] And at first when.
[24:31] So she came out and she performed two songs, which everyone
[24:36] loved, and then she came out and she talked to everyone.
[24:40] Like she was like, hey Sydney, I'm so happy to be here.
[24:43] And I was like, but I don't know, like what happened, but I just
[24:50] was so swept up in it.
[24:51] Like, I couldn't look away.
[24:53] Like, the visuals were gorgeous.
[24:55] Like they basically had all of the vocaloids that they brought over
[25:01] from Japan on this giant screen and it was extremely high
[25:07] definition.
[25:08] Like, you'll you've never seen anything like it.
[25:11] Like, it was amazing.
[25:12] It looked fantastic.
[25:14] The audio was fantastic as well.
[25:19] I would say it was like 95% full.
[25:22] Like, there were more people at this concert than there were at
[25:26] a K pop concert I went to recently in the same theater.
[25:31] So, you know, quite popular.
[25:34] And I mentioned Leah earlier this episode, but I brought her along
[25:38] with me and she'd never really experienced Vocaloid or Miku at all.
[25:45] And she.
[25:45] By the end of it, she was like, I'm converted.
[25:48] Like, I love this.
[25:48] I'm going to go and watch a bunch of videos.
[25:51] She didn't know there were different characters.
[25:54] She thought Miku was the only one.
[25:56] But she learned about Rin and Lan and Taito and all of them.
[26:02] She learned about all of them.
[26:03] It was great.
[26:04] There were so many cosplayers.
[26:06] Everyone looked fantastic.
[26:07] It was awesome.
[26:08] And I've started listening to Vocaloid music again.
[26:12] I love this.
[26:14] It looked fun.
[26:15] And just the.
[26:16] The usage of glow sticks from the crowd, certainly everything I
[26:20] saw that was just elevated by just the crowd interaction because
[26:23] those glow sticks were working overtime by everybody in these shots
[26:26] that you were sharing and other stuff I saw on the show on
[26:29] the Socials.
[26:29] So I'll definitely add this to my to do list.
[26:32] If she comes on yet another world tour, I'm going to like, tell
[26:35] work to stick it up their ass.
[26:36] I'm going to this concert regardless.
[26:38] Because there was a lot of FOMO as I saw sort of the social
[26:42] clips getting shared around.
[26:43] Like, man, this is something that I might never experience, but
[26:46] I want it so bad.
[26:48] There was just so much FOMO and just sadness that I wasn't there.
[26:52] But I still got to have a good time, you know, secondhand through
[26:54] yourself and other people.
[26:56] Yeah, it was just.
[26:58] Just a really good experience and really, like, kind of brought
[27:02] me back to my teenage years.
[27:04] Like, listening to World Is Mine, I was like, so good.
[27:10] And I saw like there was an absolute bucket load of cosplay as
[27:13] well.
[27:13] Like, so many people fronted up in cosplay to sort of further
[27:17] enhance that experience and show their love to this character
[27:20] in this world.
[27:20] Yeah, they crushed it, honestly.
[27:22] Shout out to the cosplayers.
[27:26] In terms of anime, I didn't get to watch much, but I did watch
[27:30] episode five of how I went to an all guys mixer.
[27:35] This episode was so cute because I think we actually get to
[27:39] see arguably my favorite characters in the show.
[27:44] So we have Asagi, who he's like the kind of clueless blonde
[27:49] himbo guy, and There's Fuji, who is one of the drag kings and
[27:56] she is a big, big otaku.
[27:59] She writes her own doujinshi, so she was running a booth at Komi
[28:02] Kit and she asked him to help out and it was really, really sweet.
[28:07] I actually think the show is my favorite rom com this season,
[28:10] hands down.
[28:11] Okay.
[28:11] Yeah, okay, that's good to know.
[28:13] Like, it's again, like it's on my list because I feel I'm really
[28:17] going to enjoy it when I finally take the plunge.
[28:19] But I just need to prioritize my time a little better so I can
[28:22] give it the.
[28:23] Give it the time it deserves.
[28:24] Because yeah, all the chatter that you've been sort of sharing
[28:27] about this anime on this podcast, as well as some other people
[28:31] within the space that I really sort of value their opinions on as
[28:34] well, they're all talking glowingly about it as well.
[28:36] So like, shit, I gotta commit some time and check this out already.
[28:39] It's really cute and clean and I think the thing that makes it really
[28:42] good is the dynamics between the characters, like obviously having
[28:45] these drag kings and then these kind of like university level
[28:51] boys studying and these are their friends.
[28:55] But I do hope there is one character, Haagi, he's really weird
[29:00] about being attracted to a woman that dresses like a man and
[29:05] I'm like, grow up, Huggy.
[29:07] It's 2024, bro.
[29:10] You know, Huggy's gonna have the redemption arc coming.
[29:12] I'm sure of it.
[29:13] I hope so.
[29:14] He needs it.
[29:15] Yeah, yeah, I'm sure.
[29:16] But no, I'll, I'll.
[29:17] I'll definitely make some time to check this out.
[29:19] Maybe, maybe this week.
[29:20] While I'll be sort of back here in Melbourne the whole week,
[29:22] I'll commit to watching a few episodes to share some, some high
[29:25] level thoughts on episode 25 of MTH.
[29:28] So I know the other one we got which we'll collectively deep dive
[29:31] on in a second, but is there anything else you wanted to mention
[29:33] you've watched this week or do you want me to sort of jump into
[29:36] the driver's seat?
[29:38] I'll let you have the mic.
[29:39] Okay, thank you.
[29:40] Thank you.
[29:40] Couple of super quick high level ones that I was just looking
[29:43] for some background or some hands free anime as we've sort of
[29:47] called it here.
[29:48] I checked out.
[29:49] The Healer who was banished from his party is in fact the strongest
[29:53] anyone that's heard of similar titles in the anime churn over the
[29:58] last several years.
[29:58] We'll probably get a pretty good idea of where this is going
[30:00] to go immediately.
[30:02] Completely Fine fantasy.
[30:03] It's.
[30:03] It's no award winner by any means, but it's an easy watch.
[30:07] It's that same cyclical fantasy drop that we get without
[30:10] fail.
[30:11] Our MC Lost is very, very forgettable of a character.
[30:15] Not only in just like, the character model is very mid, like
[30:18] you now usually get.
[30:19] Like, at least your fantasy mc.
[30:21] There's a bit of a handsomeness vibe about him or a
[30:23] bit of a cool vibe, but he's a bit of a sort of just a bumbling
[30:26] guy in a generic trench coat that's a mage that can do some healing
[30:31] and whatever else.
[30:31] So he's sort of there front and center.
[30:34] But I don't really care about him.
[30:35] I care about his companion, Nasena.
[30:37] She's certainly where this shows at.
[30:39] Like, she.
[30:39] She's a cute character, she's fun, she's enjoyable, she's very
[30:42] happy.
[30:42] Go lucky.
[30:43] She's like a martial artist that wants to become the next big
[30:46] adventurer.
[30:47] And she's got a bit of a soft spot for Last.
[30:49] So you sort of see that dynamic build.
[30:51] I've watched the eighth episode this morning, so I'm up to
[30:54] date on where it is at the moment.
[30:55] It's fine.
[30:56] It's enjoyable.
[30:57] But there's something that sort of has intrigued me the last
[31:01] couple episodes because, yeah, Nasena is also carrying like this
[31:04] big secret that could sort of impact the world forever and ever
[31:08] and ever.
[31:08] So it's like, oh, what's gonna play out?
[31:10] But she's cute.
[31:11] She's crushing on Last is just a bumbling fool that doesn't really
[31:14] know how to do much apart from be a bit of a badass, even though
[31:18] everyone thinks he's just a dud.
[31:20] But it's fine.
[31:21] It's like if I was scoring it probably a six and a half out of
[31:24] 10.
[31:24] But like, I've watched far worse.
[31:26] So I don't regret my time with that.
[31:28] I also watched a couple more episodes of 365 Days to the Wedding.
[31:34] You enjoy you watching it?
[31:35] Yeah, I'm watching it.
[31:36] I'm up to.
[31:37] I just watched episode five.
[31:40] Okay.
[31:41] Okay.
[31:42] So cute.
[31:43] It is cute.
[31:44] Like, I love that awkward dynamic and confusion we get between
[31:48] Takuya and Rika and their, you know, engagement in parentheses for
[31:51] the audio listeners, because it is a.
[31:54] Is a shared marriage at the moment to avoid them going to Alaska
[31:57] for their job, which is, you know, still just the silliest premise
[32:00] ever.
[32:00] But you know what?
[32:01] They're committed to working at this travel agency and they refuse
[32:04] to look elsewhere for jobs to avoid that type of stress.
[32:06] So watching them navigate being engaged with, like, we're starting
[32:11] to see get folded in now with friends, like the big successful
[32:15] father comes to town to try and work out what's going on, other
[32:19] work colleagues, and just sort of seeing them navigate that crazy
[32:23] world of being in a fake relationship, slash, now fake, soon
[32:26] to be married is fun.
[32:29] There's some quirkiness, there's some silliness, but then
[32:31] you're seeing some of that heart come through as well, where
[32:33] both of these characters are like, no, I want to do the right
[32:36] thing.
[32:37] I want to make sure he or she cares about me and can see that I'm
[32:40] being earnest with this.
[32:41] So it's kind of nice that there is a bit of heart and genuine
[32:45] care starting to develop between these two characters.
[32:48] Like, they are very awkward and introverted and both a little
[32:51] aloof as to what's happening, but I think that adds to the charm.
[32:54] And even though I feel like we know exactly how this is all going
[32:58] to play out in the end, where they're gonna get married for real
[33:00] and live happily ever after and avoid going to Alaska.
[33:03] Da da da da da.
[33:04] It's still.
[33:05] It's still fun.
[33:06] I enjoy watching this awkwardness with these two trying
[33:09] to deal with their feelings and work out if this shared marriage
[33:13] is going to become something real and everything else in between.
[33:16] So it's fun, it's enjoyable, and it's.
[33:18] It's relatable.
[33:19] I think we can all be understanding of sort of those.
[33:22] What.
[33:23] What are these feelings that I'm feeling, You know, when you're
[33:25] in those situations?
[33:25] We're trying to unpack what the heart's trying to tell you.
[33:28] So it's.
[33:28] It's fine.
[33:29] It's a very easy watch, for sure.
[33:33] I feel like I was enjoying it less so when they were kind of in
[33:37] the office, but now they.
[33:39] In the past few episodes, they've gone to the countryside to
[33:44] meet Takuya's family.
[33:46] And that is really, really cute.
[33:48] His grandma, she's so sweet.
[33:50] And Rika is kind of learning more about not just his hometown,
[33:55] but she's getting to experience something that she loves,
[33:59] which is geography.
[34:00] Like, she knows a lot about the area of Mount ASO and things
[34:04] like that.
[34:05] So she is enjoying it in a way I think she wasn't expecting.
[34:08] And it makes it really, really sweet.
[34:10] Yeah, it's just like you said, Courtney, it's an easy watch.
[34:13] It's got a lot of heart, a lot of enjoyment, and like, yeah, I don't
[34:18] think there's going to be any major shocks.
[34:20] There's going to be nothing traumatic coming your way.
[34:21] It's just, just a nice again like a cozy comfort food based anime
[34:25] and it's a good time.
[34:27] I don't want to go too deep, but episode eight of Blue Box was
[34:30] really good as well.
[34:32] It was a little bit of a change of pace from the last couple
[34:35] episodes where maybe they were focusing more on the budding romance
[34:39] and the will they weren't there where this is more so focused
[34:42] on their quest to get to nationals.
[34:44] So there's a lot more sports centric animation going on in here.
[34:47] And again like the animation style and we're seeing these boys
[34:51] on the badminton court is so good.
[34:53] And watching, watching Taiki sort of try and fight his way to
[34:57] nationals is really great because you know, he's the little
[35:00] engine that could.
[35:00] You can't help but root for this little first year and you want
[35:03] to see him succeed.
[35:04] And you know, his constant optimism and drive is just a good
[35:08] force for not only the people around him but also as the viewer,
[35:11] like you just go, yeah, like if this guy can do it, like we can
[35:13] do it.
[35:14] You know, like he's a, he's a good role model, little Ty.
[35:17] And we do get a few little sort of sprinklings of the, the love
[35:21] triangle that's sort of building between Chi and Hina and
[35:24] Tai as well.
[35:25] But for the most part it's more like let's just focus on the
[35:28] sporting.
[35:28] This episode.
[35:28] It was a good sort of shift of gears and yeah, really, really enjoyable.
[35:32] I don't know if you're up to date on Blue Box.
[35:33] You're still a few episodes back.
[35:34] Yeah, I'm still a few episodes behind but yeah, you know, sentiment
[35:39] is the same.
[35:39] Like it's still fantastic.
[35:42] Every episode ends and I'm like wait, that was it.
[35:44] Like where's, where's the rest of the episode that lasted two minutes
[35:48] and you know, it's really, really good.
[35:51] Really, really, really good.
[35:52] And I watched the, the latest episode as well as obviously episode
[35:57] 31 of Blue Lock came out the day after we recorded previous mth
[36:02] but with this one, episode 32 aired this morning.
[36:05] So I downloaded on my on my plane ride back to Melbourne and
[36:09] these first two episodes we're seeing the match between the Blue
[36:13] Lock team and the Japanese under 20s team finally kick off and
[36:18] the hype is very real.
[36:20] Courtney.
[36:20] Like yes, we still do get some janky overview animation when we're
[36:25] watching some of these characters run up and down the pitch
[36:27] again.
[36:27] But we don't get a lot of that this episode, which.
[36:30] Or these last two episodes, which I'm very thankful for.
[36:32] We just get a lot of those tight mid shots with the faces and
[36:37] the crazy ability awakening color clouding that they get going
[36:41] on and all that.
[36:41] And that's like where this franchise really shines.
[36:44] And I don't know who hasn't been on the social this past week,
[36:48] but you're seeing a lot of footage circulate of Nagi scoring
[36:51] a goal in episode 31 and man oh man, it was like a hype fist bump
[36:57] table smash moment.
[36:58] I watched him like, like this is so good.
[37:00] I'm so back in.
[37:02] And that's where the episode ended.
[37:03] But then episode 32 just flies straight in on the back of that momentum
[37:07] and we see the entire first half between those two episodes play
[37:11] out with the match between these two teams.
[37:14] It's really, really, really good.
[37:16] It's really hype.
[37:17] I love like the drama that comes from sports anime and we're
[37:20] feeling that and then some in this.
[37:23] Like seeing the sibling rivalry between Rin and Sae on rivaling
[37:26] teams here.
[37:27] Who's going to be the, the next big thing?
[37:29] Who's the, who's the genius football player out of Japan going
[37:32] to be out of these two?
[37:33] But also I want to shout out to Oliver Iku, who is the under 20s
[37:39] defender, who is like the oldest looking under 20s guy you'll
[37:42] ever see in all of anime.
[37:43] Like, you know, got the beard, got the different colored eyes, gruff,
[37:47] buff, grizzled, hardened, and just a bad.
[37:51] And he's a cool character and he just adds another layer to this
[37:56] sort of source fest that is blue box, blue lock.
[37:59] Sorry.
[38:00] Because you know there is a lot of hot football boys and this
[38:03] guy is like fighting for the crown, I reckon.
[38:05] Like he's ascending up there because he's something completely
[38:07] different.
[38:07] The rest of the boys have seen like there's the boys and now we
[38:10] got the man.
[38:11] It feels like truly that's actually what it's like just like
[38:15] the like spots of facial hair.
[38:19] I'm like, okay.
[38:22] And then like, yeah, the different colored eyes.
[38:25] And then sort of his, his sort of defending skill set when we get
[38:28] these cool really artistic animations and cutaways.
[38:31] And he's got like this big snake spirit animal I guess you could
[38:35] call it when he's sort of strangling people with his defensive
[38:38] abilities.
[38:38] Like it is, it's a bit sexy.
[38:40] But he's just a dude as well.
[38:42] So yeah, it feels like blue Lockers on the upswing again after
[38:46] a bit of janky animation the last few episodes.
[38:48] He's a man's man.
[38:50] He is a man's man.
[38:51] Like, I can respect that.
[38:52] Like, I can pay it forward.
[38:53] Like, game recognizes game.
[38:54] Courtney, as they say.
[38:56] Yeah, shout out to Oliver iku.
[38:57] But I guess we'll end our thoughts here on what we've been
[39:00] doing and what we've been consuming this past week.
[39:03] Episode 8 of Dundadan dropped a couple of days ago.
[39:06] What were your thoughts, Mr.
[39:08] Smith?
[39:09] I am so glad that this week is less sad.
[39:14] Last week was an absolute rollercoaster emotionally.
[39:19] So I really, really needed the break.
[39:21] And we got a new monster.
[39:23] We got Aira's transformation.
[39:26] I felt so bad for Momo this week with her misunderstanding of
[39:31] Ocarin's kind of situation and relationship with Aira.
[39:35] But seeing him address it was really, really nice.
[39:37] He's our faithful king.
[39:40] Yeah, Ocaroon is.
[39:41] He's just the best.
[39:42] I love him so much.
[39:43] And sort of some context behind that is after the big battle
[39:48] with Acrobatic Silky, he's realized that he's got to get stronger
[39:51] in order to protect Momo and the other people he cares about.
[39:54] So, like, they're back at school and she's like, you know what,
[39:57] let's get lunch together on the roof as usual.
[39:59] Now I can't.
[39:59] I've gotta, you know, do some study on a test.
[40:02] Let's do something like later this afternoon.
[40:04] Nah, I'm busy.
[40:05] And so he's sort of ducking her.
[40:06] And then Momo's like, kind of weird.
[40:08] Like, I trust Ocaroon with all this because, you know, he's not
[40:11] like that.
[40:12] He's not out there 2 timing me or whatever else.
[40:14] But he's off training to sort of strengthen himself up to become
[40:18] the protector that, you know, he envisions he needs to be to keep
[40:21] Momo and everybody else safe.
[40:23] But then we find out as well that in these moments, Ira has started
[40:28] to develop some big old feelings for Mr.
[40:30] Ken as well.
[40:31] So she's dealing with that and she goes straight out and she's like,
[40:35] yo, I love you.
[40:37] And seeing them like interact behind the school shed where she's
[40:41] trying to lay a big smooch on him and they're sort of pushing and
[40:44] shoving back and forth and he's holding a face like away like
[40:47] this with the palm.
[40:48] It's just crazy schoolyard antics.
[40:51] And I was like laughing and smiling and getting a bit emotional
[40:55] here and there because it's just sweet and it's just so fun and
[40:58] so well done.
[40:59] And yeah, your heart does sink a little bit when you see Momo's
[41:02] out picking up a couple of juices for her and her girlies, and
[41:05] then sees in that exact moment where Ira's fallen on top of Ken.
[41:09] And you're like, oh, what's gonna happen here?
[41:12] But we don't have to sort of think too much about this because
[41:15] she's back in the classroom moping.
[41:16] And then we get another Serpo attack.
[41:18] We got the goddamn aliens back again, chasing these poor kids for
[41:22] their banana organs yet again, realizing that, yes, Mr.
[41:25] Ken's banana organ is probably the most rare one on planet Earth.
[41:29] We're gauging because he's got the turbo Granny Yokai power infus
[41:33] to his bits.
[41:33] And these aliens want it all.
[41:35] And so we get some really cool slash, really eerie and creepy and
[41:39] unsettling scenes with the Serpos.
[41:41] Again, like, they're just a character model that just gives me
[41:44] the heebie jeebies.
[41:45] Yeah, it's.
[41:46] They're gross.
[41:48] Just gross.
[41:50] I did like, though.
[41:51] So while this is all happening to Ken, Momo is dealing with this
[41:57] creature.
[41:58] So Dan and I were watching and we were kind of speculating and he
[42:02] was like, oh, it's.
[42:04] It's Godzilla.
[42:06] And I was like, oh, it's like a dinosaur, like a lizard.
[42:09] He's like, what is it?
[42:11] And at the end where like, it's Nessie.
[42:14] And then they confirm some kind of Nessie spin off, like it's
[42:18] Nessie.
[42:19] Yeah.
[42:19] I was curious if you were going to get there or not.
[42:21] If you were still going to be like, we're still not sure what is.
[42:23] But yeah, we get the Nessie Godzilla hybrid going on here.
[42:27] And when you see it sort of suck up the energy and then just
[42:30] like hyper beam through the school and just like rip the school
[42:33] in half.
[42:34] Like, you can see how powerful this damn thing is.
[42:37] And in that moment, like, Momo's feeling very helpless.
[42:39] She's very isolated.
[42:40] She can't find Ocaroon.
[42:42] She's sort of screaming out.
[42:43] And we find out as well, we get a bit more context from the Serpos
[42:47] here where they're like.
[42:48] When we use this particular ability where we sort of engulf you
[42:51] in alien based shield or a bubble, unless you have certain amount
[42:57] of supernatural abilities or aura, you don't have any idea of
[43:01] like what's happening at the moment.
[43:02] It's just normal for everybody else.
[43:03] And hence why Ira, Ken and Momo have sort of been sucked up
[43:07] into this bubble.
[43:08] So they're sort of trying to fight for their lives in a few different
[43:11] predicaments where, yeah, Momo's fighting Nessie and Ken and
[43:16] then Ira, where we see this episode ending with her sort of leveling
[43:20] up as well, where you see that sort of fusion and bond that she
[43:24] had with Silky at the end of episode seven has now given her some
[43:28] powers.
[43:28] So it ends on a pretty big moment where we get almost just like
[43:32] a little taster, a little tease of iron, her yokai powers.
[43:36] But man, it's.
[43:36] It's so good.
[43:37] This show and this anime and this manga is perfection.
[43:41] And I cannot say enough good things about it.
[43:43] I also need to shout out, of course, Courtney's okran moment of
[43:48] the episode, which is him transforming and Aira being so needy
[43:55] and annoying and he's like, just like, shut up.
[43:57] Go away.
[43:58] I'm like, I wish that was me.
[44:04] Please belittle me, Ocarin.
[44:06] Please, please, I'm begging.
[44:08] Yeah, I love his broody.
[44:10] His broody sort of personality change with that.
[44:13] But yeah, seeing that transition from Aira into.
[44:16] Yeah, like Yokai Aira or Yokira, I guess we could sort of
[44:20] call her right now.
[44:21] Hate impending.
[44:22] It's really cool.
[44:23] Like the giant pink hair that's just like almost like big
[44:27] whips.
[44:27] And you can see she's a bit of a bad bitch.
[44:30] And we're gonna see that sort of unfold in episode nine.
[44:32] But man, we've only got four episodes left.
[44:34] I can't.
[44:35] I'm like excited for more.
[44:37] But I also know that more means closer to the end.
[44:41] I'm so torn.
[44:42] Yeah.
[44:43] Yeah.
[44:44] But we got more to come.
[44:45] That I am sure.
[44:47] But that's what we've been watching, Courtney, that.
[44:51] Yeah, it's been a jam packed week for a whole host of reasons.
[44:55] Like you've been to a concert, been around the country, We've been
[44:59] in alien infested schoolyards.
[45:01] We've been, you know, watching all guys mixes.
[45:03] It's.
[45:04] It's been a time.
[45:04] But anything else you wanted to mention or shout out before we
[45:08] close this down for another week?
[45:09] I want to shout out bar toddies for the bread, the burrata,
[45:17] the prosciutto, the tomato, the pasta, the cocktails, everything.
[45:22] That's where we went the other night.
[45:24] And as always, the food is just fantastic.
[45:28] Yeah.
[45:29] If you are looking for a fun, casual, yet a little bit fancy meal
[45:34] to take, friends, partners, family, work colleagues, whatever.
[45:38] Yeah.
[45:38] Toddies.
[45:39] Yeah.
[45:40] Yourself.
[45:40] Solo dates are great.
[45:41] Like don't take any shame in ever taking yourself out solo to
[45:46] lunch or dinner or the movies, like own that you'll have a great
[45:49] time.
[45:50] Don't let anyone tell you or make you feel otherwise.
[45:52] But yeah, bar toddies.
[45:53] Holy moly.
[45:54] I'll be back there as soon as humanly possible.
[45:57] Yes.
[45:58] So good.
[45:59] Yeah.
[46:00] And also, I just want to shout out again, even though I've harped
[46:02] on about the last couple weeks marriage toxin.
[46:05] I am so invested in this world, Courtney.
[46:08] Okay.
[46:08] Assassins and love.
[46:10] Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
[46:12] I'm nearly up to date.
[46:13] I've got a couple of chapters left till I'm fully caught up.
[46:16] So it's just a good time.
[46:18] Okay.
[46:19] Okay.
[46:19] I'm excited to hear how it is.
[46:22] When you finally caught up, I might do a little bit of digging.
[46:25] Okay, Okay.
[46:27] I like that.
[46:28] I like that.
[46:28] And something else I also like is positive ratings and reviews.
[46:31] So please do that on all your podcast platforms of choice, preferably
[46:37] Apple podcasts and Spotify.
[46:39] Sadly, the machine is broken.
[46:40] It only accepts five stars.
[46:42] So just hit that little five star drop a little rating or a review
[46:45] there because it takes no time, costs no money, and means the
[46:49] world to content creators like ourselves.
[46:51] And if you're checking us out on TikTok and YouTube, Chuck a, like,
[46:54] chuck a comment, chuck a subscription, chuck a share.
[46:56] Chuck all those things out into the ether.
[46:58] Because yeah, it's.
[46:59] It costs you no money and it's just a good time.
[47:01] You know, you want that positive karma in your life, don't
[47:03] you, Courtney?
[47:04] It makes us feel so good and appreciate sometimes.
[47:07] Actually, I say sometimes.
[47:09] Yesterday I went and I like looked.
[47:11] I was like, podcast charts and like googled our podcast and I was
[47:16] like, oh, yay.
[47:18] People are saying nice things about us.
[47:20] Yay.
[47:20] Yes, indeed.
[47:21] Looking at the live charts right now, we're currently the 9th
[47:24] rated podcast in Canada for anime and manga.
[47:27] So go figure.
[47:29] Hi, Catherine.
[47:30] Taking over the world one country at a time.
[47:32] Yeah.
[47:32] Bonjour to the French Canadians.
[47:35] I want the poutine.
[47:37] Oh, all the poutine.
[47:39] And if you're hunting for poutine, you're a Sydney cider.
[47:41] Go to Bar Luca or be all burgers and get a blame Canada.
[47:44] It's my favorite burger in Sydney.
[47:45] Thank me later.
[47:47] But yeah, get excited.
[47:49] Stay tuned to the socials.
[47:50] You can follow Courtney at Cottony Underscore San.
[47:52] You can follow me at More Than Senpai because we got some juicy,
[47:57] juicy announcements coming your way.
[47:59] So be sure to follow us on there and hunt us down on Blue sky
[48:03] as well, because that seems to be the platform of choice moving
[48:06] forward.
[48:06] It is much more free than Twitter X and it seems like a positive
[48:12] community is cultivating there in the anime and manga spaces.
[48:15] So Hunter's down on there as well.
[48:17] But listeners, viewers, Sugoi Squad, whether your anime be subbed,
[48:20] dubbed or still yet to come, enjoy yourself.
[48:23] And much love to all the gorgeous waifus and husbandos out
[48:26] there.
[48:27] Goodbye.
