[0:07] Speaker 3: just put all the malcolm barrett stuff pre-tony baker greg
[0:12] Speaker 3: i'm gonna have to call him put the pre-log at
[0:15] Speaker 3: the end we'll start it off with tony baker here
[0:18] Speaker 3: uh malcolm barrett is here to promote average joe which
[0:21] Speaker 3: is on paramount plus the artist formerly known as bt
[0:23] Speaker 3: plus we talked about that a lot at the end
[0:26] Speaker 3: of this episode. But right now, we're going to jump
[0:28] Speaker 3: into Malcolm, one of his favorite movies of all time,
[0:31] Speaker 3: which was interesting, was Ghostbusters, the original 1984. That's what
[0:36] Speaker 3: we're talking about. And we're also doing top 10 movies
[0:39] Speaker 3: from 1984. Tony Baker, box office nerd time.
[0:42] Speaker 2: I've been waiting for this. Hit us to... Ghostbusters. All right.
[0:47] Speaker 4: Ghostbusters was released in the summer of 1984 on a
[0:50] Speaker 4: $ 30 million budget, which was a hefty budget in 1984,
[0:54] Speaker 4: especially for a sci-fi comedy. I feel like they used
[0:57] Speaker 4: to take risks back then. But anyway, it's neither here
[0:59] Speaker 4: nor there. Now, the movie grossed $ 242. 6 million domestically, another
[1:02] Speaker 4: $ 52 internationally for a total of $ 295 million worldwide. It
[1:11] Speaker 4: was one of the biggest comedies ever made at that time.
[1:15] Speaker 4: And shortly after that, Beverly Hills Cop passed it. But
[1:19] Speaker 4: it was still just like breaking records left and right.
[1:22] Speaker 4: It was number one for eight non-consecutive weeks and in
[1:26] Speaker 4: the top ten for 20 weeks.
[1:29] Speaker 2: So Ghostbusters was massive.
[1:31] Speaker 4: And it spawned a cartoon, which was successful as well.
[1:34] Speaker 3: Oh, they got a friend. I rented it on YouTube.
[1:40] Speaker 3: And when I was watching it, I realized they rebooted
[1:43] Speaker 3: this a few times. They had the all-women Ghostbusters. They
[1:46] Speaker 3: had one with Paul Rudd. There was a cartoon. There
[1:49] Speaker 3: was stuff when I was a kid. There was the
[1:50] Speaker 3: real Ghostbusters.
[1:52] Speaker 2: The video game.
[1:53] Speaker 1: When I was a kid.
[1:54] Speaker 3: Ghostbusters was selling merch like G.I.
[1:58] Speaker 2: Joe. Oh, for sure. The cars. I had all the toys.
[2:01] Speaker 1: Marshmallow Man.
[2:02] Speaker 2: The toys. The logos. They were changing. You hit Ego
[2:07] Speaker 2: on this. Eyes pop out. The dog come out. Ecto Cooler.
[2:09] Speaker 1: The drink.
[2:10] Speaker 2: Ectoplasm One. It was everywhere. You know, it's funny.
[2:14] Speaker 3: I rewatched it. And I hadn't seen it in I
[2:17] Speaker 3: don't know how long. Might have been 30. It might
[2:19] Speaker 3: have been since the 90s.
[2:20] Speaker 2: Really?
[2:21] Speaker 1: Completely forgot.
[2:23] Speaker 3: Ernie Hudson is not a Ghostbuster for a long time.
[2:28] Speaker 2: Yeah. He applies for a job.
[2:30] Speaker 3: And then when stuff goes crazy, he's like, I've just
[2:32] Speaker 3: been working with these dudes for two weeks.
[2:34] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[2:34] Speaker 2: He still in the button downs? For sure.
[2:37] Speaker 4: He had on the flannel. He was like, I just
[2:39] Speaker 4: need a job. I don't believe in none of that.
[2:41] Speaker 4: I just need to work.
[2:42] Speaker 3: And the Marshmallow Man is not as big of a
[2:45] Speaker 3: part of the movie as I remember. No.
[2:46] Speaker 2: Really? He is at the last 15 minutes. Yeah, he's
[2:49] Speaker 2: 15 minutes, like the climax. As a kid, because he
[2:52] Speaker 2: was such a big part of Ghostbusters.
[2:55] Speaker 1: In my mind, it's all him.
[2:57] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:58] Speaker 3: Completely forgot Sigourney Weaver was in that movie, the whole
[3:01] Speaker 3: Gozer thing.
[3:01] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[3:03] Speaker 2: As a kid, I was like, white woman, you're out.
[3:05] Speaker 4: I didn't realize Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd was in it.
[3:08] Speaker 2: I don't know what it is. Stay puffed, Marshmallow Man.
[3:12] Speaker 3: It was the four people and Marshmallow Man and Slimer.
[3:16] Speaker 2: Because he was in the intro to the cartoon. Slimer's
[3:18] Speaker 2: also barely in the movie. Barely in there. They pumped
[3:22] Speaker 2: him up big time for the cartoon. Yeah.
[3:24] Speaker 4: He's in the movie like two minutes. He's in there
[3:27] Speaker 4: for like two scenes, maybe three scenes.
[3:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, he's eating the hot dogs in the hotel. He's
[3:31] Speaker 3: eating the hot dogs in the hot dog cart.
[3:34] Speaker 1: And that's it.
[3:35] Speaker 2: He comes back at the end.
[3:37] Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, when Austin goes get out.
[3:38] Speaker 2: He comes to the camera and then.
[3:40] Speaker 1: But when it was cartoon time, they were like.
[3:42] Speaker 2: Slimer was a character. Slimer is the head. They were
[3:44] Speaker 2: going to call it that. And if you notice... The movie?
[3:46] Speaker 2: The cartoon.
[3:47] Speaker 4: They were going to call it Slimer and the real Ghostbusters.
[3:49] Speaker 4: And if you notice, Slimer, they don't call him Slimer
[3:52] Speaker 4: in the movie. No.
[3:53] Speaker 2: No, they don't. They never say his name. The closest
[3:55] Speaker 2: they come... His name is going to be Onionhead.
[3:57] Speaker 4: Yes.
[3:57] Speaker 5: And the closest they come to saying his name is... One,
[4:00] Speaker 5: they say, I got slime.
[4:01] Speaker 2: But two.
[4:02] Speaker 5: When Ray is showing Homeboy how to use the machine,
[4:06] Speaker 5: he goes, this is where the ghosts and the slimers
[4:08] Speaker 5: go in.
[4:09] Speaker 1: You know what?
[4:10] Speaker 2: You're right. I can say that because I just saw
[4:12] Speaker 2: it today. You just rewatched it? I rewatched it eight
[4:16] Speaker 2: minutes ago. Oh, no, you fresh, Ray. I'm fresh.
[4:18] Speaker 3: I just finished rewatching it. I started last night, but
[4:21] Speaker 3: I had 20 minutes left to go. So let's go
[4:24] Speaker 3: back to you. Why is Ghostbusters 1984 so important to you?
[4:28] Speaker 2: Is it top five for you? It might be. I mean,
[4:31] Speaker 2: my top five to ten always changes.
[4:33] Speaker 5: But it's definitely in my top five, which is ironic
[4:37] Speaker 5: because it's one of my favorite action comedies, sci-fi comedy.
[4:40] Speaker 5: I'm doing action comedy now. But it's one of the
[4:44] Speaker 5: few sci-fi comedies. Yeah, there's not that many. There's not,
[4:48] Speaker 5: like Battlestar, not Battlestar, the other Sigourney Weaver one comes
[4:52] Speaker 5: to mind.
[4:53] Speaker 2: Oh, Galaxy Quest. Galaxy Quest.
[4:55] Speaker 1: Men in Black, I guess, is a sci-fi comedy.
[4:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[4:58] Speaker 5: But they don't do a lot of this type of
[5:01] Speaker 5: funny comedy.
[5:02] Speaker 2: And I remember me and my.
[5:04] Speaker 5: Cousin, we watched this so many times, my cousin Robert.
[5:08] Speaker 5: I would be Peter Venkman and Winston Zedmore, and he'd
[5:12] Speaker 5: be Egon Spangler and Ray Stantz. And we'd do the
[5:14] Speaker 5: lines from the movie. And we aim for the flat
[5:17] Speaker 5: top and do all that sort of stuff.
[5:19] Speaker 2: It was great.
[5:20] Speaker 4: It's so good to know I wasn't the only black
[5:22] Speaker 4: kid doing this.
[5:24] Speaker 2: Because I remember we used to watch it on video.
[5:26] Speaker 4: And we used to watch it and do what they
[5:28] Speaker 4: did in the movie. And it was running backwards in
[5:31] Speaker 4: the library when they saw the first ghost.
[5:32] Speaker 2: We did that. You did the stuff in the movie.
[5:35] Speaker 4: When the balcony blew up at Dana's apartment, we dove
[5:38] Speaker 4: behind the furniture.
[5:38] Speaker 2: You fall behind the couch and you put the couch
[5:40] Speaker 2: on you and the cushion. I'm glad I'm not the
[5:41] Speaker 2: only one. Yeah, I was the only one. Get out here!
[5:43] Speaker 2: I was doing that too. I was with y'all, man,
[5:45] Speaker 2: going backwards, man, with the trap. Watch out. How old
[5:48] Speaker 2: was you at 84?
[5:49] Speaker 3: One.
[5:51] Speaker 2: I was four. Y'all was babies, man. You was just seven?
[5:55] Speaker 2: You ain't have a house. I was a grown man, though.
[5:58] Speaker 2: I had a job. I had a kid. I had
[6:00] Speaker 2: a baby mama. I was out here. I had a
[6:04] Speaker 2: kid to raise. I had to get him the toys.
[6:06] Speaker 2: Tony was like, you children, man. I'm seven years old.
[6:08] Speaker 1: I got to work at the mill tonight.
[6:10] Speaker 2: I remember going to the theater to see this. Do you?
[6:14] Speaker 4: Ghostbusters is one of the movies that kickstarted my love
[6:17] Speaker 4: of movies.
[6:18] Speaker 2: It was Ghostbusters and Back to the Future.
[6:20] Speaker 3: I was curious why when I sent Tony the list,
[6:22] Speaker 3: I was like, I wonder why you picked Ghostbusters.
[6:24] Speaker 2: I didn't know you felt that strongly about it. It
[6:26] Speaker 2: was one of my favorite movies.
[6:27] Speaker 1: I grew up with this only on the video. This
[6:29] Speaker 1: was at my aunt's house. I watched it.
[6:31] Speaker 2: But the Ghostbusters was a part of culture. Yes.
[6:36] Speaker 1: And then they had three with this group, right?
[6:38] Speaker 3: Two.
[6:38] Speaker 2: Oh, two with this group.
[6:40] Speaker 4: They had one and two, and then they did the ladies,
[6:43] Speaker 4: and then they did the reboots. But Dan and Bill,
[6:46] Speaker 4: they always showed up for the other ones. Yeah, I
[6:48] Speaker 4: remember they- But the one with the core, it was
[6:50] Speaker 4: one and two.
[6:50] Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah. And then they brought his courts back. Yes.
[6:54] Speaker 2: Harold Ramis. Yeah, Harold Ramis.
[6:56] Speaker 1: He looked totally different in old age than he did
[6:58] Speaker 1: as a young person. I had to double check.
[6:59] Speaker 3: But like- Ghostbusters was in the cultural zeitgeist the way
[7:02] Speaker 3: like Turtles was. You know what I mean? It was
[7:05] Speaker 3: just like, I grew up with Ghostbusters. I don't remember not,
[7:09] Speaker 3: I remember, obviously this didn't happen. The Ghostbuster toy, I
[7:12] Speaker 3: wanted that track. Remember the track? You could step on
[7:15] Speaker 3: it and open it. I was like, mom, please. I
[7:19] Speaker 3: want to step on it. I want to catch the ghost.
[7:23] Speaker 3: She was like, absolutely not.
[7:25] Speaker 1: It's too expensive.
[7:27] Speaker 2: Ah, yeah.
[7:27] Speaker 3: And the churchiness of it. But I think just like-
[7:29] Speaker 3: No spirits coming in here. You're going to bring no
[7:31] Speaker 3: spirits in here. Man, I was like, please, man.
[7:33] Speaker 1: I wanted that toy.
[7:35] Speaker 5: I remember when I came out after my grandma was like,
[7:37] Speaker 5: you know that's not sanctified.
[7:38] Speaker 2: I was like, I don't even know. They be ruining
[7:41] Speaker 2: all the entertainment stuff with the Lord. Ecto Cooler. Yeah.
[7:46] Speaker 2: Ecto One.
[7:47] Speaker 3: Did any other movie have a drink? Like, Ecto Cooler
[7:50] Speaker 3: was a part.
[7:51] Speaker 1: Of my childhood.
[7:51] Speaker 2: Was you drinking that? What? The high C Ecto Cooler? Oh,
[7:55] Speaker 2: with the.
[7:55] Speaker 1: Slimer on there? Slimer was selling merch.
[7:59] Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
[8:00] Speaker 3: Slimer was a cash cow for the Ghostbusters.
[8:03] Speaker 1: He probably was Slimer. Then the Marshmallow Man, the Stay
[8:06] Speaker 1: Puft Man.
[8:07] Speaker 2: But you will keep bringing that Stay Puft. Stay Puft
[8:10] Speaker 2: man was my god. I'll tell you what I had.
[8:12] Speaker 2: I had the Stay Puft pencil sharpener.
[8:14] Speaker 4: Oh?
[8:14] Speaker 2: Did you?
[8:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
[8:16] Speaker 2: You put the pencil in his hand.
[8:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, look at all the high C licensing agreements.
[8:19] Speaker 2: It's crazy, though.
[8:20] Speaker 5: I loved toys back then, because they didn't care what
[8:22] Speaker 5: it was. They were like, yeah, this is a pencil sharpener.
[8:24] Speaker 2: One thing.
[8:24] Speaker 3: They were like, what's this got to do I remember
[8:26] Speaker 3: when I was watching that toy thing on Netflix and
[8:28] Speaker 3: I realized the show was made to sell the toys.
[8:32] Speaker 2: Yeah. They didn't care. All those shows were meant to
[8:35] Speaker 2: sell toys. They don't care about G.I. Joe's.
[8:37] Speaker 1: They're like, how are we going to get the toys going, y'all?
[8:39] Speaker 2: He-Man, all of that. Transformers. That's why they killed Optimus
[8:42] Speaker 2: in there because we got a new toy line coming.
[8:43] Speaker 2: We got new toys. Killing characters off.
[8:45] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[8:45] Speaker 4: And the fans went ape shit. They were like- They're like,
[8:49] Speaker 4: I love Optimus. You destroyed these kids by killing them off.
[8:52] Speaker 5: Yo, that shit was- And they had, what is it,
[8:55] Speaker 5: Orson Welles and stuff like that?
[8:57] Speaker 2: They went deep with that. Yeah, yeah. Can I give
[9:01] Speaker 2: y'all some fun facts about Ghostbusters? Yes. Tony, I thought
[9:03] Speaker 2: you'd never ask.
[9:04] Speaker 4: I'm excited about this. So they originally wanted John Belushi
[9:08] Speaker 4: was supposed to be in it.
[9:09] Speaker 2: I did read this. It was supposed to be Dan
[9:11] Speaker 2: Aykroyd wrote it for John Belushi, right? Because they had
[9:14] Speaker 2: worked on Blues Brothers together. They was tight. And so
[9:17] Speaker 2: he passed. Saturday Night Live.
[9:18] Speaker 4: Saturday Night Live connection. So they went to Bill Murray.
[9:21] Speaker 4: Bill Murray was like, I like the script. So they
[9:22] Speaker 4: assumed he was down. But Bill Murray is notoriously hard
[9:25] Speaker 4: to nail down.
[9:26] Speaker 2: Oh, is he? So he was just like, yeah, I
[9:27] Speaker 2: like the script. But he went on about his way.
[9:29] Speaker 2: And he was like, yeah, you got Bill Murray. You
[9:31] Speaker 2: got Dan Aykroyd. They approached Eddie Murphy.
[9:34] Speaker 4: He wanted to do it, but he was attached to
[9:37] Speaker 4: Beverly Hills Cop.
[9:38] Speaker 2: So he had to do that instead. Wait, he would
[9:39] Speaker 2: have been Ernie Huffman? He could have done both. Yeah.
[9:41] Speaker 4: Yeah. I don't even think he was going to be Winston, though.
[9:45] Speaker 4: He was just going to be one of the core Ghostbusters.
[9:46] Speaker 2: You know, you're right.
[9:47] Speaker 1: When Eddie's in, the race is out.
[9:49] Speaker 2: Right. One of the last dudes is out now. Exactly. Exactly.
[9:53] Speaker 2: Why is Harold Ramis here?
[9:54] Speaker 1: If you get Eddie Murphy, he starts the movie.
[9:56] Speaker 2: There probably wouldn't have been no Harold Ramis.
[9:58] Speaker 1: Harold Ramis is done.
[9:59] Speaker 2: And probably Ernie. out. That's probably another white dude. That
[10:01] Speaker 2: would have been great. Two black Ghostbusters, too many.
[10:03] Speaker 4: So with the loss of Eddie Murphy, they brought Harold
[10:08] Speaker 4: Ramis in because he was cool with Ivan Reitman. Because
[10:11] Speaker 4: Ivan Reitman rewrote the script that Dan Aykroyd wrote because
[10:14] Speaker 4: it was crazy. The original script was going to be like,
[10:16] Speaker 4: this budget is going to be $ 200 million.
[10:18] Speaker 2: In 84. We'll never get this approved. Yeah.
[10:20] Speaker 4: Because it was going to be in another dimension.
[10:22] Speaker 2: There's going to be mad ghostbusters. They was like, what
[10:24] Speaker 2: the hell? We can't do this. Hey, man, New York.
[10:28] Speaker 3: Right.
[10:29] Speaker 2: It's a apartment building. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Y'all get an
[10:31] Speaker 2: apartment building, you get a firehouse type thing, and that's it.
[10:34] Speaker 2: That's it, dog. You get a library. You get a library.
[10:36] Speaker 4: We give you New York City. Shut the hell up
[10:38] Speaker 4: about everything else. So he had to rewrite the script crazy.
[10:43] Speaker 4: So Harold Ramis, who was cool with Ivan because of Stripes,
[10:47] Speaker 4: they brought him in.
[10:48] Speaker 2: I love all those movies. Oh, yeah. I love all those.
[10:51] Speaker 4: So they brought Harold in, and then they was like,
[10:52] Speaker 4: all right, we'll bring. They had Ernie Hudson audition like
[10:56] Speaker 4: five times. Ivan Reitman was just like, I'm not really
[10:59] Speaker 4: sold on Ernie. And then he eventually won him over.
[11:04] Speaker 4: But they cut his rollback. He was supposed to come
[11:06] Speaker 4: in on page 28. He came in on page 68.
[11:11] Speaker 4: They dwindled him all the way down to damn near nothing.
[11:14] Speaker 4: And he was just like, damn, y'all. He took a
[11:15] Speaker 4: pay cut because he thought it was going to be
[11:16] Speaker 4: a big movie. And so he took a pay cut.
[11:19] Speaker 4: minimal lines, because if you watch the movie, they give
[11:21] Speaker 4: him really nothing to do.
[11:22] Speaker 2: Yeah. Nothing! They give him nothing to do, but he's
[11:25] Speaker 2: still memorable. For sure.
[11:26] Speaker 4: Like, you're still like, I came to get a job.
[11:32] Speaker 3: I feel like that line was from the soul.
[11:33] Speaker 2: I felt like that was real. And my other favorite
[11:35] Speaker 2: line is, if someone asks if you're a god, you
[11:39] Speaker 2: say yes! Absolutely. It felt like, he was like, I
[11:43] Speaker 2: got my line. Yeah. You know he was at home
[11:45] Speaker 2: doing that. You know now, you're good. You say yes, nigga. No,
[11:49] Speaker 2: don't say that. He was working that. He was working
[11:51] Speaker 2: that line. I'm just saying. So all that was going on.
[12:00] Speaker 4: And then these are the people that they considered for
[12:03] Speaker 4: the role because they was like, all right, since Bill
[12:05] Speaker 4: Murray is not attached, for sure.
[12:07] Speaker 2: For sure. Bill Murray's like, never mind. But maybe also, yeah.
[12:10] Speaker 4: They wanted to see other people. So these are the
[12:12] Speaker 4: people that came in that were considered for Ghostbusters. Tom Hanks,
[12:16] Speaker 4: John Legale, Michael Keaton, Chevy Chase, Robin Williams, Steve Guttenberg,
[12:20] Speaker 4: Richard Pryor, Christopher Walken, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Goldblum.
[12:25] Speaker 2: All for Venkman?
[12:26] Speaker 4: No, just all within the movie. Those are great choices.
[12:30] Speaker 4: And these are great choices, though. Like, I could see
[12:33] Speaker 4: any of them in this movie.
[12:34] Speaker 3: John Lithgow would be interesting. I'd like to see Robin Williams.
[12:37] Speaker 3: Richard Pryor.
[12:38] Speaker 2: Richard Pryor.
[12:39] Speaker 1: His face is alone for when the ghosts were there.
[12:42] Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely.
[12:43] Speaker 1: Ha, ha, ha, ha.
[12:47] Speaker 2: I can see him getting swine for sure. For sure.
[12:50] Speaker 4: And then for Winston, they consider Gregory Hines and Reginald
[12:53] Speaker 4: Vail Johnson, who's actually in Ghostbusters.
[12:56] Speaker 3: If you need a cop in the 80s, Reginald Vail
[12:59] Speaker 3: Johnson is your cop.
[13:00] Speaker 2: Ghostbusters. Die hard. Family matters.
[13:03] Speaker 1: Put that man in a cop suit.
[13:06] Speaker 2: He going to deliver. When I saw him, I said, boy,
[13:09] Speaker 2: Reginald Vail, he said, you know it's me, baby. Black
[13:12] Speaker 2: cop in the 80s? You know I'm in here. I'm
[13:15] Speaker 2: all through that. How old was Reginald Vail at? at
[13:17] Speaker 2: that time. He was 12. He was probably 12, looking
[13:19] Speaker 2: like a grown man. You know, it was different then.
[13:21] Speaker 2: They made men, you came out 48 years old back then.
[13:24] Speaker 2: And here's what's crazy.
[13:26] Speaker 4: They considered Julia Roberts for the Dana role, the Sigourney
[13:29] Speaker 4: Weaver role.
[13:30] Speaker 2: I can see that. She was only 16, 17. Really?
[13:32] Speaker 2: So I'm like, how?
[13:33] Speaker 4: She was born in 67.
[13:35] Speaker 2: Ah. They shot it in 83.
[13:36] Speaker 4: So I'm like, how y'all considering Julia Roberts for this?
[13:40] Speaker 2: Sigourney Weaver was 35. Bill Pullman, 35. 16 is insane.
[13:41] Speaker 3: And also- Bill Pullman, in retrospect... Bill Murray. Bill Murray,
[13:50] Speaker 3: my bad. Bill Murray, in retrospect... Yep.
[13:52] Speaker 4: Hey.
[13:53] Speaker 2: Hey. A lot of consent you're not getting. I said,
[13:57] Speaker 2: you know what? She's possessed.
[13:58] Speaker 1: He's still kissing.
[13:59] Speaker 2: Shoulders and all. He said, you know, let me just
[14:02] Speaker 2: get you. I said, hey, man. He was fighting for
[14:04] Speaker 2: his life. Hey, he was... Creep central.
[14:07] Speaker 4: He was definitely a creep. That's why she was like,
[14:09] Speaker 4: you giving me game show, holy sky.
[14:11] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[14:12] Speaker 3: And then he kissed her at the end of the movie,
[14:14] Speaker 3: not earned. Sigourney Weaver looked like she did not want
[14:16] Speaker 3: to kiss him.
[14:17] Speaker 2: Here's the thing about the 80s. She don't even remember
[14:19] Speaker 2: him like that. Here's the thing about the 80s. No,
[14:21] Speaker 2: I'm just saying, like, we're in the storyline. No, no, no.
[14:24] Speaker 5: If you remember, the last scene they had was she
[14:26] Speaker 5: was like, yeah, sure, I'll go on a date with you.
[14:28] Speaker 2: And then she wakes up from being a dog. And
[14:31] Speaker 2: he's like, got you, baby. Exactly. Yeah. So now we kissing, man? Wait,
[14:35] Speaker 2: hold on. We skipped some steps.
[14:36] Speaker 3: And I believe she probably forgot some of the stuff
[14:38] Speaker 3: that happened when she got possessed.
[14:41] Speaker 2: Absolutely. Oh, it's a metaphor.
[14:42] Speaker 4: And they considered John Candy for the role that Rick
[14:46] Speaker 4: Moranis played. John Candy wanted to do it all in
[14:49] Speaker 4: a German accent and be surrounded by German shepherds the
[14:52] Speaker 4: whole time. They was like, John, we're not doing that.
[14:54] Speaker 4: He was like, I want this. This is what I want.
[14:57] Speaker 4: He stood firm. The agent priced him out. And so
[15:01] Speaker 4: they got Rick Moran. And Rick Moran said, tell John.
[15:03] Speaker 2: I said, thank you. This is the best script I've
[15:06] Speaker 2: ever read.
[15:06] Speaker 1: Rick Moranis was so funny.
[15:08] Speaker 2: I'm sure he's ad-libbing throughout the entire thing. He was
[15:11] Speaker 2: so lit. Man, at that party, he said, you got
[15:14] Speaker 2: to get the clients going. You can write the whole
[15:15] Speaker 2: thing off. He's great.
[15:18] Speaker 4: With the stuff he was talking about, I didn't really
[15:20] Speaker 4: get all that when I was little.
[15:22] Speaker 2: But watching it as a grown man. He's saying wild shit. Bro,
[15:26] Speaker 2: he's saying anything. She's still making money off her settlement.
[15:29] Speaker 2: She's a great time. I was like, did he announce?
[15:31] Speaker 2: He was selling everybody's business as they came in. The
[15:35] Speaker 2: white lady tried to leave. He was like, don't leave.
[15:37] Speaker 2: Let's dance.
[15:38] Speaker 3: And then she was like, OK.
[15:41] Speaker 2: He was like, we got a great party going, man.
[15:43] Speaker 2: You don't want to miss this. You can't leave. That
[15:45] Speaker 2: party was kicking, though. That was a lot of people
[15:47] Speaker 2: at that party. There was a whole bunch of intellectuals
[15:50] Speaker 2: and nerds in there.
[15:50] Speaker 3: The age gap was great. It was like women who
[15:53] Speaker 3: were 75 years old.
[15:54] Speaker 2: Whoever was available was at that party. He said clients. Yeah.
[15:59] Speaker 1: Rick Moranis, man, I wish he... Did his wife pass away?
[16:02] Speaker 2: Yeah, he did. His wife passed... Young Kev, Rick Moranis,
[16:07] Speaker 2: you get him in.
[16:08] Speaker 1: A movie, sign me up.
[16:09] Speaker 2: He was that guy.
[16:10] Speaker 1: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Spaceballs, Ghostbusters.
[16:14] Speaker 2: He stole Ghostbusters. Yeah. He had the funny... Little Shop
[16:16] Speaker 2: of Horrors is my shit. I love that movie. Little
[16:18] Speaker 2: Shop of Horrors.
[16:19] Speaker 5: I was going to suggest that, but that don't seem
[16:21] Speaker 5: like a black movie. That's my favorite movie.
[16:23] Speaker 3: Listen, if this is a movie lovers blacks, we're going
[16:26] Speaker 3: to black it up. This is for the black, everybody
[16:29] Speaker 3: in here was, they was growing up with it.
[16:31] Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
[16:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, Little Shop.
[16:34] Speaker 2: Of Horrors, like, and then he just, I mean, Honey,
[16:36] Speaker 2: I Shrunk the Kids.
[16:37] Speaker 4: I'm from Lakeisha Campbell now. Name drop, bitch. I love
[16:45] Speaker 4: that movie, dog. I got three musicals I love. That,
[16:49] Speaker 4: Blues Brothers, and The Wiz.
[16:51] Speaker 2: Same. You know nobody likes The Wiz no more? I
[16:54] Speaker 2: love The Wiz. I love The Wiz. Y'all like Dreamgirls?
[16:57] Speaker 2: Dreamgirls was good. Dreamgirls was good. I don't watch it.
[17:00] Speaker 2: It's a musical, though. Yeah. Oh, it's not your favorite?
[17:02] Speaker 2: This is my holy trinity of musicals. Seymour was little.
[17:07] Speaker 2: Suddenly Seymour? Suddenly Seymour as a kid. I was like, man.
[17:09] Speaker 2: You know what people never think of as a musical?
[17:11] Speaker 2: School Days. It is a musical. School Days is a musical.
[17:14] Speaker 2: Low key. It's not that much music in there. You
[17:16] Speaker 2: don't like School Days? I ain't seen it. You ain't
[17:18] Speaker 2: seen School Days? I ain't seen School Days. It's Angel's
[17:23] Speaker 2: favorite movie. And I just. You refuse to see it.
[17:25] Speaker 2: I don't refuse. I just. He be on my neck
[17:29] Speaker 2: about Selena. Yeah, but you need to watch Selena. School
[17:31] Speaker 2: days is more of a crime. Selena.
[17:32] Speaker 4: Not seeing school days is more of a crime than
[17:35] Speaker 4: me watching Selena. That's crazy that you.
[17:36] Speaker 2: And you're black. And you're black. Let's talk about that part.
[17:40] Speaker 2: I'm going to watch school days. It's about colorism. I know.
[17:44] Speaker 2: This motherfucker doing all of this. HBCU stuff.
[17:46] Speaker 1: And no school days. Like, I noticed it all the time.
[17:48] Speaker 2: You went to HBCU? No, no, I didn't.
[17:49] Speaker 4: Oh.
[17:50] Speaker 2: Because I didn't see school days.
[17:52] Speaker 4: That's why he fumbled with the fraternities at the thing,
[17:55] Speaker 4: because he didn't see School Day.
[17:57] Speaker 1: Hillman tried, but I didn't know enough.
[18:01] Speaker 2: It's time, kid. It's time. We watching School Days. Next
[18:04] Speaker 2: time we up. Giancarlo Esposito, Laurence Fishburne. We should watch
[18:07] Speaker 2: School Days. My good friend, Tisha Campbell. Y'all don't know
[18:09] Speaker 2: the way I know her.
[18:10] Speaker 1: Love Tisha Campbell. She's my friend.
[18:12] Speaker 2: Sam Jackson's in there.
[18:13] Speaker 1: Fun story.
[18:14] Speaker 2: Sam Jackson's in there. Tisha Campbell and I were both.
[18:16] Speaker 3: On It's Not You, It's Men with Rev Run and Tyrese.
[18:22] Speaker 3: And she had a dressing room in the same hallway
[18:24] Speaker 3: as mine. I assumed she wasn't there. I was very
[18:27] Speaker 3: young in my career. I'm making a video. I'm like,
[18:29] Speaker 3: oh my God, y'all, Tisha Campbell's dressing room is right here.
[18:32] Speaker 3: Oh my God, I can't believe I'm next to Tisha Campbell.
[18:36] Speaker 2: Then I hear, hello?
[18:37] Speaker 1: And I was like, hello? I was like, I'm sorry.
[18:41] Speaker 2: She's like, this is Tisha Campbell. I'm in here. I
[18:43] Speaker 2: was like, no. She was like, yes. This is my
[18:47] Speaker 2: dressing room. I'm waiting.
[18:48] Speaker 3: She came out, talked to me. She was super nice,
[18:52] Speaker 3: got in my video. And now I talk to her
[18:55] Speaker 3: when I see her at events.
[18:56] Speaker 2: She remembers. I was like, remember when I was out? Yes,
[18:58] Speaker 2: I remember. I was like, why is this person talking
[19:01] Speaker 2: about me outside my dressing room? The door's closed. Clearly,
[19:03] Speaker 2: I'm in here.
[19:04] Speaker 3: It says Tisha Campbell's dressing room. I'm in the next show.
[19:06] Speaker 3: Why would I not be in here? Tonya, my face
[19:10] Speaker 3: turned white. That's amazing, though. I could not believe she
[19:12] Speaker 3: was in there. I was talking loud. I was like, y'all,
[19:15] Speaker 3: Tisha Campbell's going to be in here later today. Tisha
[19:19] Speaker 3: Campbell will once be in here. She was like, I'm
[19:22] Speaker 3: in here now. Why are you screaming outside my dressing room?
[19:25] Speaker 2: What if that worked at cemeteries? Yo, yo, I'm standing
[19:30] Speaker 2: next to the grave of Malcolm X, man.
[19:33] Speaker 3: Hello?
[19:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, this is about to make something in here. I
[19:40] Speaker 2: don't know. That's God.
[19:42] Speaker 3: That's why he gets to be 20 minutes late. That's
[19:45] Speaker 3: why I told them before you came. I said, Tony
[19:47] Speaker 3: gets to do drugs and have sex with whores because.
[19:50] Speaker 3: when it's time for the show, David Ruffin delivers.
[19:52] Speaker 2: My vice is tardiness. What happened? Walk me through. There's nothing.
[19:57] Speaker 2: I'm excited. Here's what it is. It's one party. Can
[20:00] Speaker 2: I tell you, as someone who's late sometimes, I bet,
[20:03] Speaker 2: I bet, I bet. Malcolm, he's late every time. Sometimes
[20:07] Speaker 2: it is, though. Sometimes it is. Walk me through. Tony,
[20:11] Speaker 2: I need to know. I bet it was nothing. I
[20:12] Speaker 2: bet you it was, as someone who's late, I bet
[20:14] Speaker 2: you it is absolutely nothing. It's nothing.
[20:17] Speaker 3: He just sat in his chair 11 more minutes. Malcolm,
[20:19] Speaker 3: I need him to start your day. You know you
[20:21] Speaker 3: have to be here at 1.30. You know this is
[20:22] Speaker 3: 30 minutes from your house. Walk me through how you
[20:25] Speaker 3: don't show up.
[20:26] Speaker 2: Oh, it's 30 minutes away? Yes. Yes. Malcolm, every time.
[20:30] Speaker 2: Me and Josh are here. He is so far away.
[20:33] Speaker 2: He doesn't care.
[20:35] Speaker 1: I told him Christopher.
[20:36] Speaker 2: Nolan could be the guest. 148, Kev.
[20:39] Speaker 3: Tell Chris Nolan, I'm sorry. Watch a little bit of
[20:41] Speaker 3: a mentor and then I'll be there. But no, I
[20:43] Speaker 3: want this answer. And clip this. Tell me your day.
[20:47] Speaker 3: Walk me through how you end up 15 minutes late.
[20:49] Speaker 3: So today I woke up. I woke up feeling rested.
[20:53] Speaker 2: But I always. So I woke up at like eight something.
[20:57] Speaker 1: We need times, okay.
[20:58] Speaker 4: I woke up at eight something. I always decompress in
[21:01] Speaker 4: the bed. So I just mindlessly scroll. Oh, I'm going
[21:04] Speaker 4: to save this video for later. I'm going to do
[21:07] Speaker 4: a recap to this, whatever the case may be. So
[21:10] Speaker 4: I'm in the bed, and then I get up. I'm like, oh,
[21:13] Speaker 4: what these cats done did to the house. I'm dreading
[21:16] Speaker 4: going outside my room because I'm locked up.
[21:18] Speaker 2: You own cats?
[21:19] Speaker 4: Yeah, I got two cats, but they're not allowed in
[21:22] Speaker 4: my room, so I don't know what they did throughout
[21:23] Speaker 4: the night.
[21:24] Speaker 2: Midnight's been pissing. And so I'm just like, in my mind,
[21:29] Speaker 2: I'm just like, and I've been playing hardball because they
[21:31] Speaker 2: was like, get a third litter box.
[21:33] Speaker 4: I got a third litter box, but he pissing down
[21:35] Speaker 4: there in the bathroom on the floor with an eye
[21:37] Speaker 4: shot of the litter box. So I'm thinking about rehoming
[21:40] Speaker 4: these niggas, but that's neither here nor there. So I'm
[21:43] Speaker 4: just like, oh, I don't even want to go out there.
[21:46] Speaker 4: I got time. I got to walk this five miles,
[21:49] Speaker 4: and I got to do the treadmill for 30 minutes.
[21:51] Speaker 2: That's what I have to do. And so I was
[21:52] Speaker 2: just like, all right.
[21:53] Speaker 4: So I do that. I finally get out there. No mishaps.
[21:56] Speaker 4: Thank God. Doodoo in the old little box. I'm like, yes,
[21:59] Speaker 4: they back in the old little box. So that's a
[22:00] Speaker 4: good thing.
[22:01] Speaker 2: Good start. Happy doodoo. Happy doodoo.
[22:04] Speaker 4: So I walked the five miles. And then I immediately
[22:08] Speaker 4: come home. They threw up on the floor. I got
[22:10] Speaker 4: to clean the throw up up. So I'm just like,
[22:12] Speaker 4: I knew it was going to be something because you
[22:13] Speaker 4: didn't fuck up with the piss. So now you got
[22:15] Speaker 4: to give me something else to clean up. I clean
[22:17] Speaker 4: that up for us. And then I go to the gym.
[22:21] Speaker 1: We need times.
[22:22] Speaker 2: Oh, so I go to the gym.
[22:24] Speaker 4: It's already like 11 something.
[22:30] Speaker 2: It's already 11. What time?
[22:33] Speaker 4: You hit the gym at 11? I hit the gym
[22:35] Speaker 4: at 11. And you got to be there. Because I
[22:36] Speaker 4: hit the walk at 10 something. It takes me 70
[22:38] Speaker 4: minutes to do the five miles. 70 minutes. Booty cheeks switching.
[22:43] Speaker 4: So it's a minimum is already 11, 10, 11, 15. Yeah, yeah,
[22:48] Speaker 4: it's probably deeper than that. It's probably deeper than that.
[22:52] Speaker 4: It's probably like 11.40, I'm in the gym, and then
[22:54] Speaker 4: I get on the treadmill.
[22:55] Speaker 2: You just went 11.00 to 11.00. No, it's 11.00. Because
[22:59] Speaker 2: he cleaned the throw up. He had to clean the
[23:00] Speaker 2: throw up up. I got back from the walk at
[23:03] Speaker 2: 11 something. Because I started the walk at 10 something. Yeah, yeah. Okay.
[23:07] Speaker 2: So I clean up the throw up.
[23:08] Speaker 4: I got to change shirts for the gym because I
[23:11] Speaker 4: got like a sweat hoodie that I wear. Sure.
[23:14] Speaker 2: For extra sweat.
[23:14] Speaker 4: Of course.
[23:15] Speaker 2: And the sleeves are sleeveless so I can see the work.
[23:18] Speaker 2: Sleeveless but sweat.
[23:19] Speaker 4: So I go in the gym. I'm like, all right,
[23:20] Speaker 4: I'm going to do a quick lift. But then people
[23:23] Speaker 4: was on my machine. So I got on the treadmill.
[23:25] Speaker 4: Did the 22 minutes instead of the 30 minutes.
[23:28] Speaker 2: Did the lift. Because he's saving time. Did the lift.
[23:31] Speaker 4: This 12-something is dwindling down. I did dead hangs. I
[23:34] Speaker 4: did dead hangs. By the way, all of your times
[23:36] Speaker 4: ended something. There's 10-something, 11-something, 12-something. What's the actual time.
[23:41] Speaker 2: It is in the moment that is fuzzy for you?
[23:44] Speaker 4: And then, so then I head home. I'm just like,
[23:48] Speaker 4: all right, perfect. I'm going to shave my head. No,
[23:51] Speaker 4: I ain't got time to shave my head. Tell him,
[23:53] Speaker 4: you're going to be late if you shave your goddamn head.
[23:55] Speaker 4: And Kev's going to be on your neck. So I
[23:56] Speaker 4: just took a shower with no head shave. That's why
[23:58] Speaker 4: I still got some bristles.
[23:59] Speaker 2: I got you.
[24:00] Speaker 4: Oh, I got an ironed shirt. It's going to be wrinkled.
[24:02] Speaker 4: Next thing you know, I look at the thing. I'm
[24:04] Speaker 4: going to get there at 146.
[24:07] Speaker 2: Do you want to know my day today, Malcolm? I
[24:09] Speaker 2: would like to know your day, KevOnStage. What up, y'all?
[24:11] Speaker 2: It's your boy, KevOnStage.

[25:39] Speaker 2: And now, back to the show.
[25:41] Speaker 4: I do want to know, Kevin.
[25:43] Speaker 2: Wake up. Piss. Excellent. Pause, Opie. Okay, wake up. What
[25:50] Speaker 2: time did you wake up, Ken? I'm going to tell you.
[25:51] Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you. I woke up 5.30.
[25:53] Speaker 3: I knew it was going to be something stupid. Woke
[25:55] Speaker 3: up 5.30. I'm like, ah, I don't have enough time
[25:57] Speaker 3: to go to the gym like I want to.
[26:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, I usually.
[26:02] Speaker 4: 5.30 is a stupid time to wake up, but keep going.
[26:05] Speaker 2: Keep going. You're already out of time? I'm already out
[26:08] Speaker 2: of time.
[26:09] Speaker 1: I'm like, I wanted to wake up at 5 and
[26:11] Speaker 1: go to the gym.
[26:12] Speaker 3: In order to get at least 45 minutes in the stretch,
[26:15] Speaker 3: I need to be leaving the house at 5. So 5.15,
[26:18] Speaker 3: wake up at 5, out of the house by 5.15,
[26:20] Speaker 3: I have time to go to the gym. Woke up
[26:21] Speaker 3: a little late, 5.30, I'm like, okay, I only have
[26:23] Speaker 3: time for a three-mile walk. So I do a three-mile walk,
[26:26] Speaker 3: which is the minimum. I get in the shower... Shave.
[26:30] Speaker 2: What time are we looking at now? I leave my
[26:32] Speaker 2: house at 7.05. How long did a three-mile take?
[26:36] Speaker 1: Three miles only takes me about 45 minutes.
[26:37] Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, three miles is nothing. That's a good booty switch. Yeah,
[26:39] Speaker 2: a little booty switch. Uphill, downhill. Take the shower.
[26:42] Speaker 1: Out of the house.
[26:43] Speaker 2: And he did a video because I saw him promoting
[26:45] Speaker 2: the pivot.
[26:45] Speaker 3: I did a video on my walk to support Ryan
[26:48] Speaker 3: Clark and the pivot sports on YouTube.
[26:51] Speaker 2: Let's go.
[26:52] Speaker 1: Video uploaded while I'm in the shower.
[26:54] Speaker 2: Get out of the shower. Shave my head. Floss. Brush
[26:56] Speaker 2: my teeth. Get here. 7.45.
[26:59] Speaker 3: Joshie walks in 7.50, Angel's in, we're shooting podcast one,
[27:04] Speaker 3: 8.15 to 9.15, shoot podcast two, 9.15.
[27:07] Speaker 2: None of his ending something. No.
[27:11] Speaker 3: I like to go to a double O, 15, or 30. 10.22,
[27:16] Speaker 3: drive me crazy. I would stand outside till 10.30 just
[27:20] Speaker 3: so the time makes sense. I've missed a respectable time.
[27:23] Speaker 3: Shoot from the 9.15 to 10.15, 10.30. Leave here, go
[27:28] Speaker 3: to Hollywood, Trapital Summit, get there at 11 o'clock, green
[27:34] Speaker 3: room to 1130, fireside chat from 1130 to 12, outside, 1205,
[27:40] Speaker 3: drive back from Hollywood, order food, meet me here. I'm
[27:44] Speaker 3: back here by 1233. I remember this because I got
[27:47] Speaker 3: here right when Melissa and Mel were leaving. Yes, me
[27:51] Speaker 3: and Josh, chop it up, talk to my wife, kiss, love, cake. Oh,
[27:57] Speaker 3: Malcolm will be here on time early. 1.15, entertain Malcolm
[28:02] Speaker 3: because my partner's not here. 1.26, Kev, go ahead and.
[28:06] Speaker 2: Start without me. I ain't never going to be here.
[28:08] Speaker 2: Before that, what did I say? You said, oh, it's
[28:11] Speaker 2: supposed to be around 1.30. I was like, man, we're
[28:12] Speaker 2: not going to start until 3 o'clock. You did. I
[28:15] Speaker 2: should have lied and told you 1 o'clock. And then
[28:16] Speaker 2: Tony comes in 1.46. I started my day.
[28:24] Speaker 4: At 5 o'clock this morning. Why are y'all getting up
[28:26] Speaker 4: at 5? I had an interview at 5.30. Eastern Standard Time?
[28:31] Speaker 4: West Coast Time.
[28:32] Speaker 1: No, I mean, were they Eastern?
[28:33] Speaker 2: No, they were here. Why? Radio. Oh, radio.
[28:37] Speaker 5: So I was up. I get up 10 minutes before
[28:40] Speaker 5: I have to leave. So I didn't get a jerk
[28:43] Speaker 5: off at all.
[28:45] Speaker 1: You didn't get on stage?
[28:46] Speaker 2: I didn't get on stage at all. How often do
[28:48] Speaker 2: you jerk off? Every morning? Every day, I got to.
[28:52] Speaker 2: Every day? Every day. Do you really? Yeah, man. Yeah.
[28:57] Speaker 2: In the morning? Every day is a lot to get
[29:00] Speaker 2: on stage. No, it is not. That's the perfect amount
[29:03] Speaker 2: of time to address the mic. A lot of people
[29:06] Speaker 2: jerk off every day, men and women. Yeah. Every day?
[29:09] Speaker 2: Every day. Some people do it daily. Every day, I
[29:11] Speaker 2: spend an hour pretending I'm going to do something else.
[29:14] Speaker 2: And then.
[29:15] Speaker 5: When's the last day you didn't jerk off?
[29:19] Speaker 2: You're going to have to ask God. You're going to
[29:23] Speaker 2: have to ask God.
[29:27] Speaker 4: You're checking out like it's a cup of coffee.
[29:30] Speaker 3: I'm a morning cup of dick. Go ahead and clean.
[29:35] Speaker 2: The pipes out. A daily bust off is a good time.
[29:38] Speaker 2: I'm not married. Bust it, make me feel. me feel good.
[29:42] Speaker 2: Why did Ray Parker put that in his song? Full circle, y'all. Bustin'
[29:46] Speaker 2: makes me feel good. That was crazy to say.
[29:49] Speaker 3: I recorded that because after I watched the movie, I
[29:52] Speaker 3: listened to the thing and I said, I forgot Ray
[29:55] Speaker 3: Parker do it.
[29:56] Speaker 2: Bustin' makes me feel good. Bustin' makes me feel good.
[29:59] Speaker 2: He's not wrong. He's correct. Oh, he busts every day.
[30:02] Speaker 2: Every day, dawg. It's an hour of me going like, oh, society.
[30:07] Speaker 2: It's an hour of me. Society. Society. Society is crazy. Society.
[30:14] Speaker 5: Then I bust one off, and then I do something
[30:17] Speaker 5: on the internet, and I smoke weed.
[30:20] Speaker 2: You jerk off and smoke every day? Yeah, dawg.
[30:23] Speaker 4: That's why I'm chill as fuck. So he either busts
[30:27] Speaker 4: it out or he smokes.
[30:29] Speaker 1: Starting your day with masturbating.
[30:31] Speaker 2: I've never masturbated in the morning. When are you trying
[30:33] Speaker 2: to do it? Nine times when I kept on stage.
[30:36] Speaker 2: I got me a little nightcap. So it makes you tired.
[30:40] Speaker 2: That's a shutdown for you. I wouldn't say it makes
[30:43] Speaker 2: me tired, but it... It makes me tired. Sex makes
[30:46] Speaker 2: me tired. Yeah. Jerking off makes me tired. A jerk off.
[30:48] Speaker 2: I want to go to sleep, but then I never do.
[30:50] Speaker 2: I maintain. You're entertained? No, I maintain. Oh, maintain.
[30:53] Speaker 4: With a self-bust, I just maintain whatever energy I have.
[30:57] Speaker 2: I don't gain or lose energy. OK, but actual sex.
[31:00] Speaker 4: Sex, though, I'd be like, I had errands to run.
[31:08] Speaker 1: I've never jacked off while the sun is up.
[31:11] Speaker 4: Ever.
[31:12] Speaker 2: Oh, you nighttime only. I'm nighttime McGee. Don't look at me.
[31:16] Speaker 2: I need to make sure the city sleeps. How dare
[31:19] Speaker 2: you look at me?
[31:20] Speaker 3: You're jerking off when people are walking their dogs.
[31:23] Speaker 2: So your body like, you ashamed of me, kid? Yes.
[31:26] Speaker 2: I got to get this out of the way. I
[31:28] Speaker 2: don't want to be thinking about this all day. I
[31:29] Speaker 2: got work to do. I got activities. What if you're
[31:32] Speaker 2: in a rush and you're like, oh my god, I'm
[31:34] Speaker 2: going to miss my call time. Nine times out of ten,
[31:36] Speaker 2: it works out.
[31:38] Speaker 4: Nine times out of 10, it worked. You got it
[31:41] Speaker 4: down to a science. If you do it every day,
[31:42] Speaker 4: you got it down to a science. Nine times out
[31:44] Speaker 4: of 10, I'm like, ah, stop browsing so much. Just
[31:48] Speaker 4: stay with the classics. I'm going to be going through
[31:51] Speaker 4: the Criterion Collection.
[31:52] Speaker 2: This is interesting to me. Wow. Who would have thought? Lord,
[31:59] Speaker 2: that's hilarious. OK, what's the rest of your day? Early morning.
[32:03] Speaker 2: You radio, you jack off, you smoke weed. That's a
[32:09] Speaker 2: lot of the weed thing.
[32:11] Speaker 1: How long does a weed smoke take?
[32:12] Speaker 5: It's like a continual, like just a stream of conscious
[32:16] Speaker 5: type of thing.
[32:16] Speaker 2: I mean like to smoke the actual joint. You can
[32:19] Speaker 2: multitask with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[32:21] Speaker 1: Oh, I guess you're not.
[32:21] Speaker 2: Because I'm just hitting a bong all day. Okay.
[32:23] Speaker 5: So I don't have to like just chill and like
[32:25] Speaker 5: have like a long day. Like I'm Ben Affleck just
[32:28] Speaker 5: breaking up with Jennifer Lopez.
[32:31] Speaker 1: So I've never used a bong.
[32:32] Speaker 2: Is it?
[32:33] Speaker 5: Oh, man, you wish you had all the classic Malcolm stuff.
[32:37] Speaker 5: Jerking off in the morning, bongs, watching movies.
[32:41] Speaker 2: Look at this. This is on the wall. Bad trailer.
[32:44] Speaker 2: This is all my shit right now. Hanging with niggas.
[32:48] Speaker 3: I thought you had to get the bong going.
[32:50] Speaker 2: It's not a fucking campfire. You light it and it
[32:55] Speaker 2: juices up the water. You pull that. And then boom.
[32:59] Speaker 1: So you could just go home from today, do one
[33:02] Speaker 1: bong rip.
[33:02] Speaker 2: I'm not going to do one bong rip.
[33:04] Speaker 1: But you could, in theory. You could hit one bong
[33:06] Speaker 1: and then go on about your day?
[33:07] Speaker 2: Nah, it's potato chips, man. It's Pringles. You think I'm
[33:12] Speaker 2: going to just smoke one time? What are we doing?
[33:15] Speaker 2: I'll follow through. It's potato chips. I'll be mad it
[33:20] Speaker 2: runs out. Every time it runs out, I'm surprised. Yeah.
[33:23] Speaker 2: I'm surprised every time I run out of weed. I'm like,
[33:25] Speaker 2: who did this?
[33:26] Speaker 4: You.
[33:28] Speaker 2: You did, man. What happened? All right, back to Ghostbusters.
[33:33] Speaker 4: Oh, another fun fact, Ray Parker Jr., they only gave
[33:36] Speaker 4: him two days to come up with a song. They
[33:38] Speaker 4: had to approach the dude from Fleetwood Mac to do
[33:41] Speaker 4: a song for it. He was like, I don't really
[33:42] Speaker 4: want to do movie jingles like that or whatever the
[33:46] Speaker 4: case may be. Fleetwood Mac, they thought they was better
[33:48] Speaker 4: than everybody and they had one of the best songs
[33:50] Speaker 4: of all time.
[33:50] Speaker 2: Man, watch out. And so they asked Huey Lewis. He's like, no,
[33:54] Speaker 2: watch out.
[33:55] Speaker 4: But he had sent them some kind of track of,
[33:59] Speaker 4: they use his song, A Brand New Drug, as like
[34:03] Speaker 4: a baseline track to listen to.
[34:06] Speaker 2: Ray Parker Jr.
[34:07] Speaker 4: Cooked up something listening to that backing track. So then,
[34:12] Speaker 4: So he cooked up something. He watched the clips of
[34:13] Speaker 4: the movie that they gave him. So he was able to, oh,
[34:15] Speaker 4: who you going to call?
[34:16] Speaker 2: Because it's the commercial they had in the movie. He
[34:18] Speaker 2: cooked that up. It ends up going to number one
[34:21] Speaker 2: on Billboard.
[34:22] Speaker 4: And they were saying, they were speculating that that song
[34:24] Speaker 4: could have added another $ 20 million to its box office total.
[34:28] Speaker 4: Because the video and the song, they had the people
[34:31] Speaker 4: in it. Everybody was in the video.
[34:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[34:33] Speaker 3: I was thinking, because we had just watched Rocky, I
[34:36] Speaker 3: was like, the Ghostbusters song has to go in the
[34:39] Speaker 3: upper echelon of greatest movie songs of all time.
[34:42] Speaker 2: That and the Rocky song.
[34:43] Speaker 3: For sure. That is part of the zeitgeist. I actually
[34:46] Speaker 3: interviewed Ray Parker Jr.
[34:47] Speaker 2: About this.
[34:48] Speaker 3: Name drop. He's an accomplished musician, plays guitar, all kind
[34:55] Speaker 3: of stuff. And he was like, that breaded me up.
[34:58] Speaker 2: For sure.
[34:59] Speaker 3: That Ghostbusters theme song, it was like, It's a perfect
[35:06] Speaker 3: 80s movie.
[35:06] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[35:07] Speaker 2: Perfect. It's a perfect movie.
[35:10] Speaker 3: It's culturally relevant to the time.
[35:13] Speaker 1: It was popular for a long time.
[35:15] Speaker 2: For sure.
[35:15] Speaker 3: Ghostbusters was just around for a long time. Like, when
[35:19] Speaker 3: they did a reboot, I was like, you know, I'm
[35:21] Speaker 3: not even mad. I know Tony hates reboots. But I
[35:24] Speaker 3: was like, I want kids to have what I had,
[35:28] Speaker 3: even though I didn't.
[35:28] Speaker 2: Enjoy the new ones as much. And, you know, it's...
[35:30] Speaker 2: You're forcing it. Yeah, I didn't enjoy it.
[35:32] Speaker 4: It was.
[35:33] Speaker 2: Leslie Jones, a close personal friend. The movie was amazing. Hello,
[35:38] Speaker 2: Leslie Jones. Leslie Jones. Close personal friends with black women,
[35:42] Speaker 2: unlike some people.
[35:46] Speaker 5: I think what's genius about Ghostbusters is it's actually shot
[35:49] Speaker 5: really well. Yeah. Like, that's what's funny is that, like,
[35:52] Speaker 5: if you watch modern comedies a lot of times, and
[35:54] Speaker 5: this is for good or bad, if you watch, like,
[35:56] Speaker 5: an Apatow movie, it's so built for people to ad-lib
[35:59] Speaker 5: that they don't do a lot of stuff with cinematography.
[36:01] Speaker 2: For sure, you know what I mean? Because they're like,
[36:03] Speaker 2: we just gotta get these takes.
[36:04] Speaker 5: But they've got Bill Murray, they've got Dan Aykroyd and
[36:06] Speaker 5: these folks, and there's just swooping use of shots and.
[36:11] Speaker 2: The way they hit.
[36:12] Speaker 5: I mean, even the special effects, the way it works,
[36:15] Speaker 5: all of the scenes are just shot really well, the
[36:17] Speaker 5: production value.
[36:19] Speaker 2: And my favorite thing is how New York they make everybody.
[36:21] Speaker 2: For sure. The mayor?
[36:23] Speaker 5: The mayor and the cop. But the cop comes to
[36:26] Speaker 5: help out Peck. I think it's the guy who wants
[36:27] Speaker 5: to shut down everything. He's like, if he moves, you
[36:30] Speaker 5: shoot him. He's like, I do what he wants.
[36:32] Speaker 2: Pencil head. Pencil neck. Yeah, who are you to tell
[36:35] Speaker 2: me how to do my fucking job? Pencil neck, where
[36:36] Speaker 2: you at? He threw that in there real quick. He
[36:38] Speaker 2: was pissed off. Because he really thought he could just
[36:40] Speaker 2: tell me how to do it.
[36:41] Speaker 3: You were helping him. He was like, you're the Environmental
[36:44] Speaker 3: Protection Agency, man. I'll answer the user. I brought you
[36:47] Speaker 3: with me. Who the hell you think you are?
[36:49] Speaker 2: I'm glad that they threw that in there. Get out
[36:50] Speaker 2: of here. The dude was like, I brought you. Pencil neck.
[36:53] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[36:54] Speaker 2: And I love the relationship between the cop and the mayor.
[36:57] Speaker 4: You could tell they was cool that they went back.
[36:59] Speaker 2: Oh, and the priest. And they got the priest. And
[37:00] Speaker 2: the priest was like, man, I know you. You get out.
[37:03] Speaker 2: Come on, priest. Yeah.
[37:04] Speaker 4: It did feel very New York down to the secretary.
[37:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, she was super New York.
[37:10] Speaker 2: She was big New York, man. She was big New York.
[37:13] Speaker 2: Who then goes on to be Southern and designing women.
[37:15] Speaker 2: Designing women, yeah. Annie Potts. Yeah, Annie Potts. I had
[37:18] Speaker 2: a crush on Annie Potts, man. Annie Potts was cute, dog.
[37:21] Speaker 2: In the red glasses? Because I like a little nerd
[37:23] Speaker 2: who I know is holding on to something. Which she
[37:26] Speaker 2: snatched up at the last minute from the wardrobe lady. Yeah.
[37:29] Speaker 4: She snatched them glasses up last minute from the wardrobe lady.
[37:32] Speaker 4: Let me use these real quick.
[37:33] Speaker 2: I love a nerd. Yeah, I love a nerd where you.
[37:35] Speaker 5: Know they packin'. And she was a man eater.
[37:39] Speaker 2: Karen, she could carry me.
[37:42] Speaker 5: She was a man eater, too. She was on Egon Tough.
[37:45] Speaker 5: She was. And then I think she got with Rick Moranis.
[37:49] Speaker 5: She wanted some deal.
[37:50] Speaker 2: She was going to get something. She was going to
[37:52] Speaker 2: get it. It's a New York minute out here. It's
[37:54] Speaker 2: been a New York minute. White women don't be holding
[37:57] Speaker 2: on to something that much. No. What you mean? That
[38:01] Speaker 2: felt deep in your soul. I thought that meant they
[38:03] Speaker 2: have a fat butt. Is that what it means? Yeah,
[38:05] Speaker 2: something could be there. Bryce got that Dallas Howard. Bryce.
[38:09] Speaker 4: Bryce got that Dallas Howard. Bryce's whole... I got a
[38:11] Speaker 4: story I'll tell you guys later off camera.
[38:13] Speaker 3: All right, this podcast is over, y'all.
[38:18] Speaker 2: But, yeah, I think this....
[38:25] Speaker 3: This cast was much better than I remember. Sigourney Weaver,
[38:30] Speaker 3: Rick Moranis, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Ernie.
[38:34] Speaker 1: Dan Aykroyd.
[38:35] Speaker 2: Love Dan Aykroyd.
[38:36] Speaker 3: Also, to me, Dan Aykroyd's one of those actors that
[38:39] Speaker 3: I feel like if he had 20 more movies, I
[38:40] Speaker 3: would watch 20 more movies.
[38:42] Speaker 2: I feel like he never... was like, I gotta work,
[38:44] Speaker 2: gotta work, gotta work, gotta work.
[38:45] Speaker 1: But he's always in some fun stuff.
[38:48] Speaker 2: Trading Places, Coneheads. Dragnet. Dragnet. Him and Tom Hanks. Blues Brothers. Yeah,
[38:54] Speaker 2: Blues Brothers was my shit. Trading Places. Him and Eddie were.
[38:58] Speaker 2: Trading Places, man.
[38:59] Speaker 1: That movie is one of my favorite. Billy Ray Valentine.
[39:04] Speaker 3: On the skateboard at the beginning when they pick him
[39:06] Speaker 3: up and his legs drop.
[39:08] Speaker 1: Man, as a kid, I was like, man, y'all, what's
[39:10] Speaker 1: going on here?
[39:10] Speaker 2: It's a near perfect movie until the train scene. Oh,
[39:14] Speaker 2: when he was Jamaican? Dan Aykroyd's in blackface. Jamaican's like,
[39:18] Speaker 2: who does that? That's on the train for me. I
[39:21] Speaker 2: quote that all the time.
[39:22] Speaker 4: I have erased that out of my mind.
[39:29] Speaker 2: I think most of us did. As a kid, that
[39:31] Speaker 2: didn't register as anything wrong.
[39:33] Speaker 4: There's enough spears on the trench for me. That's what
[39:36] Speaker 4: he said when he walked in. I quote that all
[39:38] Speaker 4: the time.
[39:39] Speaker 2: Randolph Mortimer, we're back.
[39:40] Speaker 4: That callback to coming to America was genius.
[39:45] Speaker 3: I learned about trading futures from that. The Florida orange
[39:49] Speaker 3: crop crisis.
[39:52] Speaker 2: I learned about pork bellies and then... Yeah, pork bellies.
[39:57] Speaker 2: And my favorite thing is.
[39:58] Speaker 5: Eddie Murphy said he didn't know what the hell he
[40:00] Speaker 5: was talking about when he was doing the thing, when
[40:02] Speaker 5: he was talking about buy and sell and all that.
[40:04] Speaker 2: That's hilarious. He's like, I don't know what I'm saying. Oh,
[40:08] Speaker 2: my God. That jail scene was mad footed. Oh, my God.
[40:10] Speaker 2: You know who's in that as well? Giancarlo Esposito.
[40:13] Speaker 1: Giancarlo Esposito going to be up in there.
[40:14] Speaker 2: He's in everything. School days. Yeah. We love school days.
[40:17] Speaker 2: Watch out, though. School day. I found out it's Giancarlo Esposito.
[40:22] Speaker 2: Because I did the boys with him. Oh, snap. And
[40:24] Speaker 2: I said it. You really be acting now, man. He
[40:27] Speaker 2: be his stuff, yo. After you jack off and smoke weed,
[40:30] Speaker 2: you go to work.
[40:31] Speaker 3: Yo, I go to work now. You be in that
[40:33] Speaker 3: trailer like, whoo! I feel good. Who we got going today?
[40:37] Speaker 3: I'm like, whoo, to be or not to be.
[40:42] Speaker 1: Maybe that's why you ain't booking, because you ain't got
[40:45] Speaker 1: no strap.
[40:45] Speaker 2: He lose. I'm so relaxed, my dude.
[40:47] Speaker 1: I'm going to start jacking off in the morning.
[40:49] Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
[40:50] Speaker 1: Imagine how much more effective I would be.
[40:51] Speaker 4: I might need to start smoking weed, because I jack
[40:53] Speaker 4: off pretty quick. You guys, you got to combine all
[40:55] Speaker 4: the bridges.
[40:55] Speaker 2: I mean, you're jacking too. You guys are not. Not daily, but.
[40:58] Speaker 1: I don't cab on stage as much as people might think.
[41:00] Speaker 2: You got to get the time zones right. Everybody.
[41:03] Speaker 4: Guys, you're going to meet so many more famous people
[41:05] Speaker 4: if you start jerking off in the morning.
[41:07] Speaker 2: The morning is the key, though. Tony, I got to
[41:09] Speaker 2: start smoking weed. I got to start smoking weed. I
[41:12] Speaker 2: got to jack off. I'm already jacking off. Guys, I'm
[41:14] Speaker 2: bringing the best of both heads.
[41:16] Speaker 4: Because I be stressed internally, man.
[41:20] Speaker 2: I need that weed to calm me down. Get that
[41:21] Speaker 2: weed going, Tony.
[41:24] Speaker 1: Maybe you'll be on time. You'll be on time or
[41:26] Speaker 1: you'll be later.
[41:27] Speaker 2: I might be more late.
[41:28] Speaker 3: Smoke the weed after you show up on time.
[41:32] Speaker 2: I would have been on time if I had other
[41:34] Speaker 2: stuff going. What you mean?
[41:36] Speaker 4: Like, you know how you had five things going on.
[41:39] Speaker 4: I had to go to Hollywood.
[41:40] Speaker 2: It wouldn't matter what I did.
[41:42] Speaker 3: If I said I'm going to be there at 1.30,
[41:43] Speaker 3: I would have been there.
[41:44] Speaker 4: If I had other stuff going, I would have been
[41:46] Speaker 4: on time. You'd be earlier if you had more things
[41:49] Speaker 4: to do.
[41:50] Speaker 2: Yes. You would be a little bit late to all
[41:51] Speaker 2: those things. Sounds preposterous.
[41:53] Speaker 4: Because if I would have had a meeting with somebody,
[41:56] Speaker 4: let's say at 12 noon.
[41:58] Speaker 2: I would have been at that meeting. You think you
[42:00] Speaker 2: would have been at that meeting at 12 o'clock?
[42:01] Speaker 4: I would have got out of there at the same
[42:02] Speaker 4: time I would have headed straight here.
[42:04] Speaker 2: At home, though, I'd be farting around. But would you
[42:07] Speaker 2: have got there at noon, though? To their first meeting?
[42:10] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[42:10] Speaker 2: No. They still would have got me up out of there.
[42:14] Speaker 2: They would have got me up out of there on time.
[42:16] Speaker 2: Which made you.
[42:18] Speaker 4: There would have been no fart around between when they
[42:21] Speaker 4: let me out of there to come here.
[42:23] Speaker 2: I would have been here.
[42:25] Speaker 4: The fart around at the crib is going to kill
[42:27] Speaker 4: me every time. I honestly get it.
[42:32] Speaker 2: All right.
[42:32] Speaker 1: Malcolm, get your phone out. Tony, get your phone out.
[42:36] Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, we're doing 1984.
[42:38] Speaker 3: We're going to do top 10 movies, maybe 12, because
[42:41] Speaker 3: we each get three. But top 10 movies of 1984. Now,
[42:46] Speaker 3: we make this mistake all the time, Tony, I realize.
[42:49] Speaker 2: What?
[42:49] Speaker 3: When we're covering something, and it's part of that thing,
[42:52] Speaker 3: we often forget that thing.
[42:54] Speaker 2: So let's make sure to include.
[42:55] Speaker 3: That's how we forgot about Bruce Willis for the Top
[42:58] Speaker 3: 10 action stars, because we talked.
[43:00] Speaker 2: At length about Die Hard. Oh, yeah. And they was
[43:01] Speaker 2: on our necks about it. It's assumed because they ain't
[43:04] Speaker 2: watched the full podcast.
[43:05] Speaker 4: Right.
[43:05] Speaker 1: All right, y'all got y'all list ready?
[43:06] Speaker 2: Let me make sure.
[43:08] Speaker 3: Get your stuff going, because that was actually a fantastic
[43:12] Speaker 3: movie year.
[43:13] Speaker 2: It's crazy.
[43:13] Speaker 1: I didn't see any of these movies in theaters.
[43:15] Speaker 2: I watched all these movies on. You know why, Ken?
[43:17] Speaker 2: Because you were one. I was one. You were seven
[43:20] Speaker 2: at that job.
[43:20] Speaker 4: You were one. That's why he was kids, man.
[43:24] Speaker 3: Oh, this year is crazy.
[43:25] Speaker 2: Here we go. This shit's great. Top 10 movies of 1984.
[43:27] Speaker 2: I'm going to kick it off. Number one, Karate Kid.
[43:29] Speaker 5: Wow.
[43:37] Speaker 2: Oh, interesting pick.
[43:38] Speaker 3: I love the Karate Kid. I grew up with this movie.
[43:40] Speaker 3: Daniel's son. I felt like him.
[43:42] Speaker 2: I don't know why.
[43:44] Speaker 1: Cobra Kai, one of the few reboots that works.
[43:48] Speaker 2: Yes. As a TV show much, much later. That's a
[43:49] Speaker 2: reboot that worked.
[43:50] Speaker 3: That's a reboot that worked. But they went a long time.
[43:54] Speaker 3: And it's a different aspect.
[43:55] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[43:56] Speaker 1: You know, because usually reboots work with different people. Because
[43:58] Speaker 1: that premise is great.
[43:59] Speaker 2: Yes.
[43:59] Speaker 4: Kids fish out of water trying to dress bullshit-ass bullies.
[44:04] Speaker 1: But also the Karate Kid remake with Jaden Smith works.
[44:06] Speaker 2: That's what I was talking about. It do work.
[44:07] Speaker 1: No, I'm talking about Cobra Kai, the TV show.
[44:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, I was saying all of that. Cobra Kai works too.
[44:11] Speaker 2: All of that work.
[44:11] Speaker 3: They might be the most successful reboot show. Karate Kid from...
[44:16] Speaker 3: The movie-to-movie work with Jackie Chan and Jaden King. Also,
[44:19] Speaker 3: they switched race, and they went to China. So the
[44:21] Speaker 3: fish out of water works as a black kid in China.
[44:24] Speaker 3: And he wasn't doing karate no more.
[44:25] Speaker 2: No, ain't nobody doing karate. And Jaden was nice with
[44:28] Speaker 2: the moves. Yeah, and he had the great song with
[44:30] Speaker 2: Justin Bieber. He's bigger than me, stronger than me. He
[44:34] Speaker 2: may not play with me, but he's bigger than me.
[44:36] Speaker 1: Love that song. Love that Justin Bieber album.
[44:40] Speaker 2: That album I was listening to as a grown man.
[44:42] Speaker 5: OK.
[44:43] Speaker 1: No explanation.
[44:47] Speaker 2: Never say never. I wish I could have had my
[44:49] Speaker 2: head like the Beavs. They never say never was going hard. Hard.
[44:51] Speaker 2: All right, Malcolm, you're up. Terminator. Terminator. That's easy. The original.
[44:57] Speaker 2: The original Terminator. Oh, gee, yes. It's great.
[45:00] Speaker 5: I last watched that movie, one of those cemetery screenings.
[45:06] Speaker 2: Oh, the Cine... Yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to do that.
[45:08] Speaker 4: In Hollywood? Yeah, yeah.
[45:09] Speaker 2: I want to do that. Oh, you got to do it.
[45:10] Speaker 4: It's great.
[45:10] Speaker 2: It feels weird because you're like... Feel like it's disrespectful?
[45:14] Speaker 2: It feels disrespectful, but it's like, it's all old Hollywood,
[45:17] Speaker 2: who it is. And I feel like if I was
[45:18] Speaker 2: dead and y'all watched movies over me, like, do that. Oh,
[45:20] Speaker 2: sit on me. You know what I mean?
[45:22] Speaker 4: Sit on me and watch the movies, man. Put your
[45:24] Speaker 4: butt right over my chest. Sit down, man. Watch this review, man.
[45:30] Speaker 2: So I love Terminator. The effects still hold up.
[45:32] Speaker 5: Yeah. Because they did a lot of practical. Practical effects, man.
[45:35] Speaker 5: And then small sets.
[45:37] Speaker 2: Yeah. Or like, not small sets, miniatures.
[45:39] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[45:39] Speaker 2: They did a lot of miniature stuff. And it just
[45:41] Speaker 2: looks dope.
[45:43] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[45:43] Speaker 2: And even the.
[45:44] Speaker 5: Scene, even there's like a prosthetic twin that they do.
[45:48] Speaker 2: I know there's one thing. Linda Hamilton. Yes.
[45:51] Speaker 5: I think when the Terminator turns, but that might be T2.
[45:55] Speaker 5: where the Terminator turns into Linda Hamilton, because I think
[45:57] Speaker 5: she uses her own sister.
[45:59] Speaker 2: Oh, he was never her in the first one. He's
[46:01] Speaker 2: just not her. It was all Arnold. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[46:04] Speaker 2: So yeah, the first one's amazing.
[46:06] Speaker 5: And it also sets up that paradox where you're like, oh,
[46:08] Speaker 5: if they sent you into time to find John Connor
[46:12] Speaker 5: and you wind up being a dad to John Connor,
[46:14] Speaker 5: how is it John Connor?
[46:16] Speaker 2: That's what makes my nose bleed.
[46:17] Speaker 1: Time movies always throw me off with that.
[46:19] Speaker 3: Even the dinosaur movie we just saw, The Last House
[46:22] Speaker 3: on Oak Street or whatever, it's like you exist in
[46:25] Speaker 3: this universe and you didn't die.
[46:27] Speaker 5: But that's the grandfather paradox, that particular one. How can
[46:30] Speaker 5: he be his own grandfather if you're the one that
[46:32] Speaker 5: went back in time?
[46:32] Speaker 3: 1,000%. That's where they lose me. But then I just
[46:34] Speaker 3: be like, man, watch out. And I just keep going.
[46:36] Speaker 3: Because my nose will start bleeding. 1,000%.
[46:39] Speaker 1: Literally, I'm just like, I just can't think about this
[46:41] Speaker 1: right now.
[46:41] Speaker 2: All right, Tony, you're up. He smashed Raw. All right.
[46:45] Speaker 2: He smashed Raw. The Ghostbusters, man. Ghostbusters? I mean, it
[46:49] Speaker 2: just changed me. Wait, I just thought about that. He
[46:52] Speaker 2: just met that woman. He had unprotected sex with her.
[46:54] Speaker 2: They smashed Raw. Anyway, we can move on. Smash Raw.
[46:58] Speaker 4: That's what pissed me off about movies back in the day.
[47:00] Speaker 2: They always made the time for sex. They did.
[47:03] Speaker 4: Your life is on the line. It's a cyborg coming
[47:05] Speaker 4: to kill you. I am not attracted to nothing.
[47:08] Speaker 2: What?
[47:08] Speaker 1: If we going to die, I want to die with
[47:10] Speaker 1: coochie on the brain.
[47:11] Speaker 2: Nah, I can't. I'm not thinking about that. The robots
[47:14] Speaker 2: might kill us. You jacking off if they're robot? I can't.
[47:18] Speaker 2: I don't be in the mood. I'm not in the mood, man.
[47:20] Speaker 2: I'm a mood guy. You're not in the mood? I'm
[47:23] Speaker 2: not in the mood. I'm a mood guy. No one
[47:25] Speaker 2: is danger. My roommate got gunned down. I'm not feeling sick.
[47:29] Speaker 2: My coochie would be dry if I was a woman.
[47:31] Speaker 2: That's a lot. These machines is coming? The machines is coming.
[47:34] Speaker 3: I'm not.
[47:35] Speaker 4: I'm not in the mood. I wouldn't even be able
[47:37] Speaker 4: to focus during the smash. I'm like, what if he
[47:39] Speaker 4: bust up in there and then bust up in there?
[47:42] Speaker 4: I get nervous during regular sex.
[47:44] Speaker 2: Like, with, like, a lady? Like, it's so crazy. You
[47:47] Speaker 2: ever be in your own head during the smash? I
[47:49] Speaker 2: be in my own head so deep. I be like...
[47:51] Speaker 2: It's like there's so much happening back there. I hope
[47:55] Speaker 2: I have the facilities. That's what people don't talk about.
[47:58] Speaker 2: What do you mean you talk about this? That's what
[48:00] Speaker 2: people don't talk about. I hope I have the facilities.
[48:02] Speaker 2: I hope I have the facilities.
[48:04] Speaker 4: Those men don't really talk about being in their head
[48:06] Speaker 4: about the sex.
[48:07] Speaker 2: I'm in my head. I ain't been in my head.
[48:09] Speaker 2: You've been married for 40 years. That's right. You get
[48:12] Speaker 2: to check out. Stop jacking off and stop being late
[48:14] Speaker 2: and you'll be out your head.
[48:15] Speaker 4: I'm not in my head when I'm jacking off. Oh,
[48:17] Speaker 4: you're clear of mind. I know I can handle this.
[48:20] Speaker 1: But when you're with a lady, what's going through your head?
[48:23] Speaker 4: Oh, man.
[48:23] Speaker 2: I hope it goes up. Like for one. I feel seen.
[48:28] Speaker 2: I feel like, I hope it goes out. I feel seen.
[48:30] Speaker 5: And like, I hope I have some strokes in there.
[48:33] Speaker 5: And like, some comfortable strokes. Not those strokes where you're like,
[48:36] Speaker 5: please come immediately. I don't, I've got seven more. I
[48:40] Speaker 5: feel seen.
[48:41] Speaker 2: I feel seen. I knew it wasn't just me, man.
[48:44] Speaker 2: You've got seven more. I knew it wasn't just me.
[48:47] Speaker 2: I've got seven more. It's crazy.
[48:49] Speaker 4: I'm like, what is, I'm like, I'm always like, I'm
[48:52] Speaker 4: always like, what is your status?
[48:54] Speaker 2: Like, Now that, I'll be handling that before I even
[48:56] Speaker 2: go in. I'll be like, please. I'll be finding that
[48:59] Speaker 2: out before I even do the deal. I hope I
[49:01] Speaker 2: have the facility. That's what I'm saying. So you see
[49:03] Speaker 2: a big buddy, you're like, oh my God.
[49:07] Speaker 4: I told the girl that. I was like, look, I'm
[49:08] Speaker 4: coming out of a breakup. I don't know if I'm
[49:11] Speaker 4: going to rise to the occasion. I know I've been
[49:13] Speaker 4: talking shit on these text messages. But just know, this
[49:16] Speaker 4: is the first time. I told her that.
[49:18] Speaker 2: Really? I keep telling her. to go like, second one's
[49:22] Speaker 2: for you. I don't know how this is going to be. Luckily,
[49:26] Speaker 2: I perform when it's the first time. I'm doing good.
[49:29] Speaker 2: I just worry about it.
[49:30] Speaker 3: How does she respond to like, listen, before we do anything,
[49:33] Speaker 3: you look great, look great.
[49:35] Speaker 2: I don't know where I'm at mentally right now. I'm
[49:36] Speaker 2: coming out of a breakup. Can I get enough? Women
[49:38] Speaker 2: are more understanding than people give them credit for. They are. Really?
[49:41] Speaker 2: Women are understanding. This is interesting to me. You don't
[49:44] Speaker 2: have to worry about it. Women are big understanders. Also,
[49:46] Speaker 2: you change how you talk when you get older. You
[49:48] Speaker 2: know what I mean? You get more mature. I'm in
[49:50] Speaker 2: my 40s, man. I might not rise tonight. I try
[49:54] Speaker 2: and rise.
[49:55] Speaker 4: What's up with tonight? What's up with tonight is uncertainty.
[50:01] Speaker 4: You might get premium pumps. You might not. You might
[50:04] Speaker 4: get hard and then soft, soft and hard all in
[50:07] Speaker 4: one session. I don't know what's happening. I hope you're
[50:10] Speaker 4: a good talker.
[50:11] Speaker 2: I hope we can talk a little something. I get
[50:14] Speaker 2: nervous during sex. It's great. Yeah, 100%.
[50:17] Speaker 1: I get nervous during sex.
[50:20] Speaker 2: All right. All right. Ghostbusters. Obviously, we don't need to
[50:24] Speaker 2: talk about Ghostbusters any further. Of course. All right.
[50:27] Speaker 1: So I'm going to go. I'm going to leave one
[50:29] Speaker 1: for you that I know you want as your friend.
[50:31] Speaker 2: Let's see.
[50:31] Speaker 1: So I'm going to go Purple Rain.
[50:33] Speaker 2: Now. You just took it. Oh, I thought you were
[50:35] Speaker 2: going to do Indiana Jones. Man, watch out, man. You
[50:37] Speaker 2: just took it. I for sure thought you were going
[50:39] Speaker 2: to do Indiana Jones. You knew I was coming for
[50:41] Speaker 2: Purple Rain. No, for sure you was going to Indiana.
[50:43] Speaker 2: To know me.
[50:43] Speaker 3: You knew I was coming for Purple Rain. I thought
[50:45] Speaker 3: you were going to Indiana. I thought you said it's
[50:48] Speaker 3: a better movie.
[50:49] Speaker 2: That's the worst of the three. Is that your impression?
[50:51] Speaker 2: That's the worst of the initial three. Indiana Jones and
[50:54] Speaker 2: Temple of Doom? Yeah, it's good, though, but it's the
[50:56] Speaker 2: worst of the three. Oh, okay, okay. Oh, my bad.
[51:00] Speaker 4: For me, it's Last Crusade, Raiders, Temple of Doom. I
[51:04] Speaker 4: think the first one I saw was Temple of Doom.
[51:06] Speaker 4: I think it was the first one I saw. Because
[51:08] Speaker 4: y'all were babies. Y'all didn't even exist when Raiders came out.
[51:12] Speaker 2: He had a beard.
[51:13] Speaker 1: He had a beard.
[51:13] Speaker 2: I had a full job. Tony had a lunch pill.
[51:15] Speaker 2: full of screwdrivers going to school.
[51:17] Speaker 4: I was trying to get my retirement check in order
[51:19] Speaker 4: when the Temple of Doom came out.
[51:21] Speaker 2: He was at nine, like, I'm getting no too old
[51:22] Speaker 2: for this shit. You know what, Tony? I just saw
[51:24] Speaker 2: Indiana Jones. I didn't see the last part. I didn't
[51:26] Speaker 2: realize which was which.
[51:27] Speaker 3: Also, Indiana Jones movies all exist to me as a
[51:29] Speaker 3: trilogy because I saw all of them at the same time.
[51:31] Speaker 2: That first trilogy is great. Yeah. Oh, very good. The
[51:33] Speaker 2: Temple of Doom is the worst of the three. But
[51:35] Speaker 2: I'm going to go Purple Rain. I'm surprised you even
[51:39] Speaker 2: seen it. Purple Rain? Yeah, Purple Rain. Am I a
[51:41] Speaker 2: nigga or not? Am I a nigga or not? I
[51:44] Speaker 2: don't know. You ain't seen School Days. You ain't seen
[51:47] Speaker 2: School Days. Now, come on.
[51:49] Speaker 1: School Days and Purple Rain is not the same.
[51:51] Speaker 4: Purple Rain is racially ambiguous.
[51:53] Speaker 2: Yeah. His name's The Kid.
[51:55] Speaker 1: That was cool to me, though. You know what I'm saying?
[51:57] Speaker 2: Where it's very clearly Prince. It's just like, it's clearly you, Prince.
[52:02] Speaker 2: You wrote it. You are doing all Prince stuff. You
[52:05] Speaker 2: can't tell me you're doing character work right now. Literally Prince.
[52:10] Speaker 2: I don't even know if he's acting.
[52:12] Speaker 4: He's like, you know what I think I'm going to
[52:13] Speaker 4: wear in this scene?
[52:15] Speaker 2: A ruffled shirt? Yeah, we figured.
[52:17] Speaker 4: He had no wardrobe places.
[52:19] Speaker 2: No. They went in Prince's closet for sure. Yeah, for sure.
[52:23] Speaker 2: That's what you're wearing today. Let's get it. Let's get it.
[52:25] Speaker 2: Let's get the shots going.
[52:27] Speaker 3: But my favorite parts about Purple Rain is how funny
[52:31] Speaker 3: Morris Day is.
[52:32] Speaker 2: Morris Day was hilarious. He's a jerk. Morris Day is perfect.
[52:35] Speaker 1: He is so, and I didn't know he was Prince's
[52:39] Speaker 1: artist at the time.
[52:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was like, yo, this guy's mean.
[52:43] Speaker 2: You threw a girl in the trash. Yeah. They threw
[52:46] Speaker 2: a girl in the trash. Morris Day didn't give a fuck.
[52:50] Speaker 5: I thought he was bigger than Prince in real life
[52:53] Speaker 5: in my head. When I watched the movie, I was like, oh,
[52:55] Speaker 5: they've got this rivalry going.
[52:57] Speaker 2: I was like, yo, this guy's the greatest thing.
[52:59] Speaker 3: And then as I grew up, I was like, Morris
[53:01] Speaker 3: Day and Prince, there's a chasm between these two.
[53:04] Speaker 5: My favorite is, I see Morris Day did a performance
[53:07] Speaker 5: on Saturday Night Live.
[53:09] Speaker 2: And it's Morris Day. And what's this dude that helps
[53:11] Speaker 2: him out? Jerome. Jerome. I had never seen this in
[53:14] Speaker 2: my life. They perform the whole song, right?
[53:17] Speaker 5: They're in. They're about to crescendo. They bring out a
[53:19] Speaker 5: dinner table. They bring out a full eight-course meal.
[53:25] Speaker 2: All of the shit. He brings it out.
[53:27] Speaker 5: He brings out a mirror. Jerome gets the mirror out,
[53:30] Speaker 5: shows it to him. He does this here.
[53:32] Speaker 2: I love it. He cuts the steak for him. He
[53:33] Speaker 2: takes one piece. He goes, Bam! I love that, man.
[53:41] Speaker 4: It's like seven minutes of him prepping this meal. He
[53:44] Speaker 4: takes one bite and calls it a day. I love that, though.
[53:48] Speaker 2: Oh, it's genius. The showmanship is great. I was like,
[53:50] Speaker 2: however I can do that, I want to do that. Yeah,
[53:52] Speaker 2: that's funny. All right, you're up, Malcolm. I did Purple Rain. Oh,
[53:55] Speaker 2: this is easy. Never Ending Story. Oh.
[53:59] Speaker 5: And let me tell you why Never Ending Story is
[54:02] Speaker 5: one of my favorite movies of all time. I grew
[54:04] Speaker 5: up watching that movie during lunch in school. I watched
[54:10] Speaker 5: it during lunch. Oh, if it rained and you couldn't
[54:13] Speaker 5: have recess, they show a movie.
[54:15] Speaker 3: Oh.
[54:15] Speaker 2: Right? He was at work when we were in school.
[54:19] Speaker 2: I was at the mill. They don't show you no
[54:20] Speaker 2: movies at the mill, man. You got to work.
[54:23] Speaker 4: He was playing the piano during the cinema.
[54:28] Speaker 2: So they would show it during recess, right? And recess,
[54:31] Speaker 2: you get like a half hour. Yeah.
[54:32] Speaker 5: But because they would show it at different times, depending
[54:35] Speaker 5: on when it rained, as a child, I thought it
[54:38] Speaker 5: really never ended.
[54:39] Speaker 2: Hilarious. Because I would only see, like.
[54:42] Speaker 4: 30 minutes right here and here and here.
[54:45] Speaker 2: It really never ends, yo. So I was like, yo,
[54:47] Speaker 2: this movie is forever. Like, you can't finish watching it.
[54:51] Speaker 2: This is a really aptly named movie. After you said that,
[54:53] Speaker 2: you was like, on the bar. It really never ends, guys.
[54:59] Speaker 2: It never ends. This kid is weird, y'all. Am I
[55:06] Speaker 2: right or no?
[55:09] Speaker 4: I was scared to watch that movie, man. I know
[55:11] Speaker 4: my brothers hate me to this day for that.
[55:13] Speaker 2: It was like.
[55:14] Speaker 4: It was either, y'all can watch Never Ending Story. I
[55:16] Speaker 4: was like, I don't want to see it. And he
[55:18] Speaker 4: was like, it's not even scary.
[55:19] Speaker 2: It is scary. I saw that dog in the trailer.
[55:22] Speaker 2: Can we watch the Jungle Book? And my brothers was like, man,
[55:24] Speaker 2: let's watch Never Ending Story, man. I'm like, eh. And
[55:28] Speaker 2: then my dad was like, man, let's watch the Jungle Book.
[55:30] Speaker 2: I'm like, eh. My brothers was so mad at me, though.
[55:35] Speaker 2: And then when I saw Never Ending Story, I was like, man,
[55:36] Speaker 2: this is great. Give me your side of money. This
[55:42] Speaker 2: is why you allow the 15 minutes late. Yeah, yeah.
[55:45] Speaker 1: You just make it do, Malcolm.
[55:47] Speaker 2: I get it. You deal with what you got to
[55:49] Speaker 2: deal with. I can't stand this movie for no reason.
[55:51] Speaker 2: He's going to give you that three times an episode, Malcolm.
[55:54] Speaker 4: Him losing that horse was dramatic, though.
[55:56] Speaker 2: Oh, my God. It's not a Treyu, is it? A Treyu!
[56:02] Speaker 2: Or no, what is it? Is that Doom? Remember, he
[56:04] Speaker 2: lost the horse in the quicksand. He didn't see it.
[56:08] Speaker 2: He didn't see them all. He didn't see never in
[56:10] Speaker 2: the story? That's why you can always tell. He don't
[56:11] Speaker 2: really chip in. You can tell. I love what he do.
[56:13] Speaker 2: He's like, hey, that horse, man. When the weather.
[56:19] Speaker 4: And the story never ended.
[56:22] Speaker 2: And then he go back to the story. He got nothing.
[56:27] Speaker 2: He can't even fake it right now. The dog, y'all.
[56:31] Speaker 2: I do remember the dog. Do you? There's a dog
[56:35] Speaker 2: with his tongue out. Who is the dog? It was
[56:36] Speaker 2: a huge dog, wasn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, you're close.
[56:39] Speaker 2: What could the dog do? He could fly. OK. It's
[56:43] Speaker 2: mixed up in there.
[56:45] Speaker 3: But I'm telling you, like Ghostbusters, if I didn't watch
[56:48] Speaker 3: a movie a lot, my brain is like, bro, get
[56:50] Speaker 3: that out of here.
[56:51] Speaker 2: When I watched.
[56:51] Speaker 3: Ghostbusters today, I was like, I feel like I've never
[56:54] Speaker 3: seen this movie. And I know I used to watch
[56:55] Speaker 3: it all the time.
[56:56] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[56:57] Speaker 3: 84 to 90, I probably watched it all the time.
[56:59] Speaker 3: But after 90, I ain't revisited. I've forgotten a lot.
[57:02] Speaker 3: The key parts I remember, Slimer I remember... Stay Puff, man.
[57:06] Speaker 3: You know I remember.
[57:07] Speaker 4: I think the cartoon really helps. The cartoon really helps
[57:11] Speaker 4: everything stay locked in.
[57:13] Speaker 3: And the cartoon parts are what I remember. The Dozier
[57:16] Speaker 3: and all that, Gatekeeper and stuff, I was like, I
[57:19] Speaker 3: don't remember this part.
[57:20] Speaker 1: I didn't remember Sigourney Weaver at all.
[57:22] Speaker 4: Another fun fact, they was going to have Paul Rubens, a.k.a.
[57:25] Speaker 4: Pee Wee Herman, play Dozier.
[57:28] Speaker 2: Gozer. Who was that?
[57:30] Speaker 4: That was like a model, a European model. Oh, I
[57:33] Speaker 4: thought I was like, is that David Bowie? They tried
[57:35] Speaker 4: to make it androgynous. David Bowie was the inspiration.
[57:40] Speaker 2: They wanted to go with an androgynous look. It was
[57:41] Speaker 2: very androgynous. Ain't for the flat top. It's on me now.
[57:47] Speaker 2: It's on you. Yeah, yeah. All right, I'm going to
[57:48] Speaker 2: go with us. It's Gab out here stealing stuff.
[57:51] Speaker 4: I got to go Beverly Hills Cop, baby.
[57:54] Speaker 2: Beverly Hills Cop.
[57:55] Speaker 3: Got to go.
[57:55] Speaker 2: Beverly Hills Cop, baby. Axl Foley. Axl Foley. Taggart. Rosewood.
[58:01] Speaker 1: Did you watch the most recent one?
[58:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, I watched it. How was it? Was he feeling it?
[58:05] Speaker 2: It was all right. Okay. It was just all right.
[58:07] Speaker 2: It was better than three. Yeah. Yeah, it was. It was.
[58:09] Speaker 2: Three was just, man, what the hell was going on?
[58:11] Speaker 1: I just recently watched Beverly Hills Cop.
[58:14] Speaker 3: A year or two ago, because I was doing some
[58:15] Speaker 3: research for a buddy cop movie.
[58:17] Speaker 1: Yo, I just couldn't believe how funny.
[58:19] Speaker 3: That scene with Eddie Murphy and the dude who plays Balky.
[58:24] Speaker 2: Yes. Bronson Pinchot.
[58:26] Speaker 1: Bronson Pinchot.
[58:27] Speaker 3: Man, I was like, yo, this is comedic gold. They're improv,
[58:31] Speaker 3: and they're timing on that.
[58:32] Speaker 2: Get the fuck out of here. Get the fuck out
[58:34] Speaker 2: of here. Perfect. He didn't miss a beat? Not at all.
[58:38] Speaker 3: Can you imagine going beat for beat with Eddie Murphy
[58:41] Speaker 3: in 84?
[58:41] Speaker 4: Eddie Murphy is not selfish ball. He's letting people work.
[58:47] Speaker 2: He does. He be letting people do their thing. He
[58:49] Speaker 2: doesn't hog the ball. No, not at all. He's very generous.
[58:52] Speaker 2: He going to get hit. He going to get 33
[58:54] Speaker 2: and 10. Of course. But he going to let you cook. Yeah,
[58:58] Speaker 2: he's very generous. He let him do that, man. Yeah,
[59:00] Speaker 2: I love that. Okay.
[59:02] Speaker 1: I'm going to go John Hughes.
[59:04] Speaker 2: Oh, yes. 16 Candles.
[59:07] Speaker 1: My girl, Molly Ringwald.
[59:10] Speaker 2: Premium white milk. I loved Molly Ringwald could do no.
[59:17] Speaker 1: I said, man, now that's beauty, y'all.
[59:20] Speaker 3: Molly Ringwald was fine as hell to little care. I
[59:24] Speaker 3: was like, man, she was in the movies in the 80s.
[59:27] Speaker 3: Brat Pack, she was in some John Hughes movies.
[59:29] Speaker 2: Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink.
[59:33] Speaker 1: I love Sixteen Candles. I love John Hughes movies. We
[59:36] Speaker 1: don't have those coming-of-age movies anymore.
[59:38] Speaker 2: Man, you say this every episode.
[59:39] Speaker 3: We ain't got the coming-of-age movies like we used to.
[59:42] Speaker 2: Every episode. All right, you're up, Malcolm. You know what?
[59:48] Speaker 5: I don't even know if this is a great movie.
[59:49] Speaker 5: I just remember growing up on it.
[59:52] Speaker 2: Splash. Okay. That was 84 as well, huh? Yeah. You
[59:56] Speaker 2: don't know Splash? Tom Hanks, Daryl Hannah. Tom Hanks and
[59:58] Speaker 2: Daryl Hannah. John Candy. John Candy. John Candy's in that thing.
[1:00:02] Speaker 2: John Candy could do no wrong. She was a mermaid.
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: It's a live action mermaid movie.
[1:00:06] Speaker 3: Oh, this is where the name Madison Avenue, Madison as
[1:00:09] Speaker 3: a baby came from.
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:00:11] Speaker 3: Daryl Hannah was, she picked the name Madison from this movie.
[1:00:15] Speaker 3: She saw the street, Madison Avenue. She chose that as
[1:00:18] Speaker 3: her name. And I was watching a TikTok about this.
[1:00:21] Speaker 3: No one had named their daughter Madison in America prior
[1:00:24] Speaker 3: to this. After that movie, a whole bunch of Madisons came.
[1:00:28] Speaker 1: This is like after LaToya Jackson was born.
[1:00:30] Speaker 2: All these people were named LaToya.
[1:00:32] Speaker 1: That Madison, the name Madison came from this movie.
[1:00:35] Speaker 2: Never knew that. Did you know Adolf Hitler was a
[1:00:37] Speaker 2: popular name before? Before the last one. Adolf was? Yeah, yeah.
[1:00:41] Speaker 2: Or Adolf Hitler. I think both. I didn't know that.
[1:00:43] Speaker 4: Hitler was a big name. There was a lot of Hitlers.
[1:00:47] Speaker 4: I knew Adolf was popular. I didn't know Adolf was popular.
[1:00:50] Speaker 2: I know. He just ruined it. I think I'm the
[1:00:54] Speaker 2: day after his birthday. Hitler. You know who is young Adolf?
[1:01:00] Speaker 2: Is he Adolf? No, I doubt it. I think his
[1:01:03] Speaker 2: was from Dolphin. Young Dolph Hitler. Yeah, I'm like, yo,
[1:01:05] Speaker 2: was his name Adolph? Is Rudolph?
[1:01:07] Speaker 3: I don't think so. Oh, what was Young Dolph's real name?
[1:01:09] Speaker 3: He probably has a totally different name. His name is Adolph.
[1:01:13] Speaker 3: His name is Adolph, right?
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. That was a choice.
[1:01:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, because he was born in 1985.
[1:01:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, we late in the game. We late in the game.
[1:01:22] Speaker 2: She was like, no, man, Adolph. She chose that name.
[1:01:25] Speaker 2: You're giving me Adolph energy. Oh, my God. Yeah. She
[1:01:29] Speaker 2: was like, there's something about that name. Young Dolph. That's wild.
[1:01:36] Speaker 2: A black child? That's wild. In 85? In 85. What
[1:01:41] Speaker 2: were you doing in 85? I wonder who named. Was
[1:01:43] Speaker 2: it the father or the mom? He's junior. He's from Florida?
[1:01:46] Speaker 2: He's a junior. He's a junior. Adolph Robert Thornton Jr. Okay.
[1:01:49] Speaker 2: Now it's making a little bit more sense. He ain't
[1:01:51] Speaker 2: going to change our family name. We don't have Adolph
[1:01:54] Speaker 2: in our name for generations. Fuck Hitler, man.
[1:01:56] Speaker 4: We was going down the family line before he even
[1:01:59] Speaker 4: came to power.
[1:02:00] Speaker 2: I don't even fuck with Hitler like that. You're up, Malcolm.
[1:02:05] Speaker 2: Don't clip it. I don't even fuck with.
[1:02:12] Speaker 5: It.
[1:02:12] Speaker 2: It's on me. It's on me. I'm going Gremlins. That's
[1:02:17] Speaker 2: what I was going to say. Gremlins. I'm going Gremlins.
[1:02:19] Speaker 4: Even though that movie ruined me up, it scared the
[1:02:22] Speaker 4: shit out of me.
[1:02:22] Speaker 2: You were scared, Tom. I was scared of movies at
[1:02:24] Speaker 2: that time. Tony don't like the dark. You don't. Gremlins
[1:02:28] Speaker 2: I get, though.
[1:02:29] Speaker 4: Gremlins told me, because I was excited to see it.
[1:02:31] Speaker 4: I was like, man, let's go see Gremlins. I was
[1:02:33] Speaker 4: in that theater like....
[1:02:37] Speaker 2: I was in the back of the theater. No, no.
[1:02:38] Speaker 2: Gizmo was cute, though. That's what I'm saying. That's what
[1:02:42] Speaker 2: sold me. Gizmo? Gizmo. They sold crazy toys, too.
[1:02:45] Speaker 4: Once I got up in that theater, and they were
[1:02:48] Speaker 4: scary before they even hashed. I remember it was a
[1:02:50] Speaker 4: bunch of them, and they was like, rawr. When they
[1:02:53] Speaker 4: was in there just pulsating and about.
[1:02:54] Speaker 2: To be gremlins. I heard that.
[1:02:56] Speaker 5: I believe the writer came up with gremlins because he
[1:02:59] Speaker 5: lived in like, with rats and shit.
[1:03:01] Speaker 3: Really?
[1:03:01] Speaker 2: So gremlins was like his rats.
[1:03:03] Speaker 4: That's crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The premise is outstanding, though.
[1:03:09] Speaker 4: There's several rules, man. So don't get them wet.
[1:03:11] Speaker 2: Don't get them wet. Don't let them eat past midnight,
[1:03:13] Speaker 2: and they hate sunlight. That's it. Bright lights.
[1:03:16] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:03:17] Speaker 5: And then they tried to bring the logic into the
[1:03:19] Speaker 5: second one. They were like, well, what about time zones?
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: The second one is better than the first one. Is it?
[1:03:23] Speaker 2: To me. The new batch. I don't even know how
[1:03:24] Speaker 2: to separate the two. The second one is better. One's
[1:03:28] Speaker 2: at Christmas. Yeah, the first one's at Christmas. The second one,
[1:03:31] Speaker 2: they're in that office building.
[1:03:32] Speaker 4: And it's going crazy. There's all kind of different Gremlins.
[1:03:35] Speaker 4: And then Gizmo's like, I'm sick of this shit. And
[1:03:37] Speaker 4: he goes Rambo. And then they broke the fourth wall.
[1:03:41] Speaker 4: It was like, I saw it in theaters. So they
[1:03:43] Speaker 4: have a scene where the film burns and splits.
[1:03:46] Speaker 2: So it looked like the Gremlins are in the projection booth. Man,
[1:03:48] Speaker 2: I was like, this is great. Hulk Hogan comes in
[1:03:53] Speaker 2: the movie theater like, y'all better turn this shit back on.
[1:03:55] Speaker 2: I was like, this movie's crazy. Shout out to Gremlins 2, man.
[1:03:59] Speaker 2: Kel didn't see it. He don't remember. I saw. I
[1:04:01] Speaker 2: saw both. I can't differentiate, though. He faded out.
[1:04:04] Speaker 1: No, because I realized they are one movie in my mind.
[1:04:07] Speaker 2: I remember the.
[1:04:08] Speaker 1: Antics and Gremlins and water and ooze and sounds and ears.
[1:04:11] Speaker 4: The second one sticks out in people's mind more, though.
[1:04:14] Speaker 5: Because that's when the Gremlins start developing their own personalities
[1:04:17] Speaker 5: and stuff.
[1:04:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. What's his name? He was talking the
[1:04:18] Speaker 2: whole movie. Oh, yeah. May I have a brief word
[1:04:21] Speaker 2: with you? It was Tony Randall's voice. He's got like
[1:04:23] Speaker 2: a deep voice. He had glasses and everything. Yeah, you know.
[1:04:27] Speaker 3: I'm going to save one for y'all because I know
[1:04:29] Speaker 3: y'all going to take it and I ain't going to
[1:04:31] Speaker 3: do that to you.
[1:04:32] Speaker 2: So I'm going to go. Oh, we got more? There's
[1:04:34] Speaker 2: one more. It should be 10, 11, 12. Oh, gotcha, gotcha. Oh,
[1:04:37] Speaker 2: one more.
[1:04:37] Speaker 3: And I'm going to leave this one to you because
[1:04:40] Speaker 3: I know Tongo said.
[1:04:40] Speaker 2: You don't know what I'm going to say. I'm going
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: to go. This is Spinal Tap.
[1:04:44] Speaker 4: Really?
[1:04:45] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:04:45] Speaker 2: Rob. I've never seen it.
[1:04:48] Speaker 1: You've never seen it?
[1:04:49] Speaker 2: Really? Oh, Rob Reiner. That's a comedian, I'm surprised.
[1:04:51] Speaker 3: Rob Reiner, mockumentary about a rock band. Rest in peace,
[1:04:56] Speaker 3: Rob Reiner. Rob Reiner, for sure.
[1:04:58] Speaker 2: It goes up to 11. Goes up to 11.
[1:05:00] Speaker 3: As a kid, I didn't realize it was a mockumentary.
[1:05:02] Speaker 3: I just thought it was a really funny movie about
[1:05:04] Speaker 3: a rock band. Kind of like I'm Gonna Get You, Sucker.
[1:05:06] Speaker 3: I did not realize that was a parody of Blaxploitation films.
[1:05:08] Speaker 4: I like movies in that vein, like CB4 and Fear
[1:05:13] Speaker 4: of a Black Hat are in that vein.
[1:05:15] Speaker 2: Mm-hmm. So I liked it.
[1:05:16] Speaker 3: I didn't know what you were exploiting. So now going
[1:05:19] Speaker 3: back and watching, I was like, this is when Rob
[1:05:22] Speaker 3: Reiner had a string of like he couldn't miss for
[1:05:25] Speaker 3: like five years. He was just like, and the genres
[1:05:28] Speaker 3: were all over the place. It was like a rom-com,
[1:05:31] Speaker 3: a rock band mockumentary.
[1:05:32] Speaker 2: A coming of age. Coming of age. Then he would be.
[1:05:35] Speaker 1: Acting in something. He was just, wasn't he in Modern Family?
[1:05:39] Speaker 4: No, no, no.
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: All of the family. All of the family. Meathead. Meathead, yeah.
[1:05:43] Speaker 2: Love that. He always challenged Archie on his bullshit. Yeah.
[1:05:47] Speaker 2: But this is Final Tap. Good time. All right, Malcolm.
[1:05:50] Speaker 2: All right. I could pick a really good movie, but
[1:05:53] Speaker 2: I won't.
[1:05:53] Speaker 3: No.
[1:05:54] Speaker 2: I will pick... And you know what? This is a
[1:05:56] Speaker 2: good movie. It's just silly. Police Academy. Police Academy was
[1:06:00] Speaker 2: a good time, man.
[1:06:01] Speaker 5: Police Academy is a ridiculous movie. It spawned 19 sequels.
[1:06:06] Speaker 2: Yes. A cartoon... They had a cartoon? Yeah, they had
[1:06:09] Speaker 2: a cartoon. I didn't know that.
[1:06:10] Speaker 1: They was making Police Academy.
[1:06:12] Speaker 2: Again, 80s. Everything. Toys. Toys. They had toys? They had toys,
[1:06:16] Speaker 2: my dude. What? Yeah.
[1:06:17] Speaker 1: The sound effect dude was my favorite dude. Michael Winslow?
[1:06:19] Speaker 2: Michael Winslow. I was like, this is the greatest thing
[1:06:21] Speaker 2: I've ever seen.
[1:06:21] Speaker 4: I was Michael Winslow forever after that. I was like, beep, beep. Yes.
[1:06:26] Speaker 3: As a kid, I was like, this is the world's
[1:06:30] Speaker 3: greatest entertainer. This man should be in Vegas.
[1:06:33] Speaker 2: The kung fu scene. He does all the sound effects
[1:06:37] Speaker 2: when he's doing kung fu.
[1:06:38] Speaker 1: It was the best thing I ever saw in my life.
[1:06:40] Speaker 4: We went to the well every time for every type
[1:06:43] Speaker 4: of character.
[1:06:43] Speaker 2: And it worked. Yes.
[1:06:44] Speaker 4: They were like, Michael Winslow going to do the sound effects.
[1:06:46] Speaker 4: Bubba Smith going to come in and do something strong.
[1:06:48] Speaker 4: Hook going to be soft spoken to somebody. Piss her off.
[1:06:51] Speaker 2: Then she going to yell. That sexy white chick with
[1:06:53] Speaker 2: the stack up top. She going to be like, no, mister.
[1:06:56] Speaker 2: I think that was the first time I was like, yeah,
[1:06:59] Speaker 2: white ladies are all right. All right. Fair. You guys
[1:07:03] Speaker 2: got one? She would hop in the pool. Get in here.
[1:07:05] Speaker 2: The shirts see through now.
[1:07:06] Speaker 4: They all dive in. I was like, she don't do
[1:07:08] Speaker 4: that every time. And then Bobcat Colway.
[1:07:10] Speaker 2: I want it. Bobcat Colway. I thought that's how he
[1:07:15] Speaker 2: really talked. I thought that's how he was. I was like, yo.
[1:07:17] Speaker 1: He does talk like that. No, he talk all normal.
[1:07:20] Speaker 2: No, guys. To me? Oh, to you, yeah. Bobcat. That's
[1:07:25] Speaker 2: so funny. What I thought was funny as a kid,
[1:07:27] Speaker 2: I was like, man, that. Look. I was like. He
[1:07:31] Speaker 2: did it enough that we thought that was him. That
[1:07:33] Speaker 2: was him. I was like. His name was Bobcat. Bobcat Goldthwait.
[1:07:38] Speaker 2: As a kid, I was like.
[1:07:39] Speaker 4: Genius.
[1:07:40] Speaker 2: Y'all seen this?
[1:07:48] Speaker 4: Even when he wasn't talking, his face was going through
[1:07:51] Speaker 4: the motions.
[1:07:52] Speaker 2: It was great. That dorky guy next to him. Oh, perfect. Oh, remember,
[1:07:58] Speaker 2: there was a running gag about blowjobs in that movie.
[1:08:01] Speaker 2: For sure. In the first one, he was getting a
[1:08:02] Speaker 2: blowjob while he was at the podium. Yeah. I didn't
[1:08:05] Speaker 2: know what that was at the time. And then he
[1:08:06] Speaker 2: thought it was a dude under there. Yeah. He was like, oh.
[1:08:09] Speaker 2: And he was just trying to get through it. And
[1:08:10] Speaker 2: I was like. All right, Tone, close us out. I'm
[1:08:13] Speaker 2: going to close us out with Nightmare on Elm Street, man.
[1:08:16] Speaker 2: Freddie Krueger changed the horror game. I was leaving for you.
[1:08:18] Speaker 2: You got to throw Freddie Krueger up in there, man.
[1:08:20] Speaker 2: He had the sweater. He had a scare to go
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: to bed.
[1:08:23] Speaker 5: Wait, did Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street
[1:08:26] Speaker 5: come out the same year?
[1:08:27] Speaker 2: No, that's a different Friday the 13th. It's probably like
[1:08:29] Speaker 2: two or three. Oh, okay. Or maybe even four.
[1:08:32] Speaker 4: Nightmare on Elm Street.
[1:08:34] Speaker 2: I mean, Friday the 13th was probably like 1980, 81. Okay.
[1:08:36] Speaker 4: First one. But Nightmare on Elm Street, man. Johnny Depp
[1:08:40] Speaker 4: getting pulled into that bed. Yeah.
[1:08:42] Speaker 2: Iconic. That's an eye. That's man. Freddie. Mike Myers. Michael.
[1:08:51] Speaker 3: Michael Myers. But man, they created such characters. They're just
[1:08:58] Speaker 3: going to make those movies until the end of time.
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: There ain't been a Freddy movie in a minute that
[1:09:02] Speaker 3: I've seen.
[1:09:03] Speaker 2: No, they're always trying to revamp it.
[1:09:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, they go back to Michael Myers all the time.
[1:09:08] Speaker 2: They've proven they can just make that whenever they feel
[1:09:10] Speaker 2: like it. It's just going to go back, man. It
[1:09:12] Speaker 2: just works.
[1:09:12] Speaker 4: I feel like Michael has had the most success recently.
[1:09:17] Speaker 1: Since his comeback. Michael don't have to talk.
[1:09:19] Speaker 3: No.
[1:09:20] Speaker 1: You got to be able to pull Freddie off.
[1:09:22] Speaker 2: Freddie's charismatic. That's the hard part.
[1:09:24] Speaker 3: He's terrifying, but he's charismatic. Michael Myers' fear is he
[1:09:28] Speaker 3: don't have to be good. There's so many things you
[1:09:30] Speaker 3: can set up. But if you don't nail Freddie, that
[1:09:32] Speaker 3: movie's not going to be good. Yeah, Robert Englund was
[1:09:33] Speaker 3: Freddie for the longest. And then they did another Freddie
[1:09:35] Speaker 3: with Homeboy that was Rorschach.
[1:09:37] Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that dude. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They played him serious, though. Yeah.
[1:09:42] Speaker 2: I think that's what messed it up. I think that's
[1:09:43] Speaker 2: what it did. Freddie got to be funny, crazy.
[1:09:45] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[1:09:46] Speaker 3: Like, that's what makes him terrifying. I was afraid to
[1:09:49] Speaker 3: go to sleep after that. It was one of the
[1:09:51] Speaker 3: few scary.
[1:09:51] Speaker 2: Movies I watched. You know what? I never was. As
[1:09:53] Speaker 2: scared as I was. Well, you was afraid of gremlins,
[1:09:56] Speaker 2: but not scary? That's what's crazy. Freddie never scared me.
[1:09:59] Speaker 3: Really?
[1:09:59] Speaker 1: That is actually really interesting.
[1:10:01] Speaker 2: That is crazy. It makes zero sense. Everything else was
[1:10:03] Speaker 2: tearing me in half.
[1:10:05] Speaker 1: Never ending story got you.
[1:10:06] Speaker 2: The gremlins. I'm like, no. Freddy Krueger. I was like,
[1:10:09] Speaker 2: all right, man. I don't know what it was. It's
[1:10:13] Speaker 2: so interesting. But I was scared. When I first heard
[1:10:15] Speaker 2: about Freddy Krueger, I overheard my brothers talking. Yo, it's
[1:10:19] Speaker 2: this dude. His name is Freddy. When you go to sleep,
[1:10:21] Speaker 2: if he kills you in the dream, you die in
[1:10:24] Speaker 2: real life.
[1:10:24] Speaker 4: I walked into this conversation. Didn't know it was a movie.
[1:10:28] Speaker 4: I just walked in, yo, it's this dude named Freddie Cooper.
[1:10:31] Speaker 4: And so I'm behind the couch like.
[1:10:34] Speaker 2: What you back here crying for, man? Freddie, man. I'm
[1:10:37] Speaker 2: going to be asleep, man. It's a movie, man. I
[1:10:41] Speaker 2: was like, all right. I was planning on going through it.
[1:10:46] Speaker 2: I thought your brothers were like, man, I hate him.
[1:10:49] Speaker 3: He is ruining. You have so many stories of you
[1:10:53] Speaker 3: ruining stuff for the whole house. It's like if Tony
[1:10:56] Speaker 3: wasn't going for it, it just didn't happen.
[1:10:59] Speaker 2: Thriller.
[1:11:00] Speaker 4: No, I didn't bust the groove up. I just covered
[1:11:03] Speaker 4: it up. I was just under the covers while they
[1:11:05] Speaker 4: finished it. I didn't ruin that, but other stuff I
[1:11:08] Speaker 4: did ruin. And I grew up in violent environments. Car
[1:11:12] Speaker 4: drivers getting killed in front of the crib.
[1:11:13] Speaker 2: I'm like, that's crazy. Don't put on gremlins.
[1:11:17] Speaker 4: But movies was tearing me in half, dog. They had
[1:11:20] Speaker 4: me up all night. Were you the baby of the children?
[1:11:23] Speaker 2: Yeah. Ah.
[1:11:25] Speaker 1: What was the age difference between you and your brother?
[1:11:27] Speaker 2: So my oldest is 10 years older, and then Scott
[1:11:29] Speaker 2: is six. Oh, yeah. So I was little. I was
[1:11:33] Speaker 2: big little. And they was just like, they cool. They teens.
[1:11:36] Speaker 1: So 15, 11, and you were like five?
[1:11:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm coming in like, hey, guys. They be like, man,
[1:11:42] Speaker 2: we watching the howling, man. I'm watching, too. Meanwhile, I'm
[1:11:49] Speaker 2: getting obliterated. I was trying to hang with the big dogs, man.
[1:11:53] Speaker 4: American Werewolf in London ruined my soul.
[1:11:56] Speaker 2: I was about to say, I was like, I know
[1:11:57] Speaker 2: you didn't watch.
[1:11:58] Speaker 4: No More Werewolves. That movie ruined my goddamn life, dog.
[1:12:00] Speaker 4: I threw up in my sleep after I saw that.
[1:12:03] Speaker 2: Because it's gross. I was like, ugh. It's an effect
[1:12:06] Speaker 2: to real. I threw up in my sleep. Why?
[1:12:10] Speaker 4: I was at the turmoil and my stomach bubbling.
[1:12:14] Speaker 2: I was like, I can't go to sleep. Ugh. Can
[1:12:21] Speaker 2: you imagine how mad your parents were? Can you know
[1:12:25] Speaker 2: what's in nothing, man? What y'all have been watching? That's
[1:12:32] Speaker 2: so funny, man. All right, y'all. This has been a
[1:12:36] Speaker 2: good time. I am hot.
[1:12:37] Speaker 3: Malcolm Barrett, that was.
[1:12:39] Speaker 2: A great guest, man. Thanks for joining us, man. Thanks
[1:12:41] Speaker 2: for having me. Have a great show.
[1:12:43] Speaker 3: Season one and two on Paramount +. Please support him. Yes.
[1:12:48] Speaker 1: Is there anything else you got going on you want
[1:12:49] Speaker 1: to talk about?
[1:12:50] Speaker 5: No, there's nothing else going on in my life. I
[1:12:52] Speaker 5: really need y'all to watch this, or it's the end
[1:12:54] Speaker 5: of my career. Average Joe season two, or unemployment from
[1:12:59] Speaker 5: Malcolm Batts.
[1:13:01] Speaker 2: He got the loose Achilles still, y'all. He means it.
[1:13:04] Speaker 4: His Achilles is loose. His foot is dangling. I have
[1:13:08] Speaker 4: no more use in this foot. You got to watch
[1:13:11] Speaker 4: the show.
[1:13:11] Speaker 2: All right, y'all. We'll see y'all. I just bought a house.
[1:13:15] Speaker 2: Just bought a house, y'all. Please. You bought a house? Yeah,
[1:13:19] Speaker 2: I did. Where is it? It's a little further away. Oh,
[1:13:22] Speaker 2: it's far? Yeah, it's not close. Oh, damn. I bought
[1:13:25] Speaker 2: a house, y'all. Where? Utah. I drove in. I drove in.
[1:13:30] Speaker 2: I heard the market was going to change. Oh, my God.
[1:13:33] Speaker 3: Please check out Malcolm, man. Bar Brothers, Tony Baker came
[1:13:35] Speaker 3: on stage. We'll be here every Monday.
[1:13:38] Speaker 2: On time. No, no.
[1:13:39] Speaker 1: Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday and Thursday.
[1:13:41] Speaker 2: I want time.
[1:13:42] Speaker 1: Tony won't be on time, but it'll air on time.
[1:13:44] Speaker 1: God bless you. God keep you. We'll see you at
[1:13:45] Speaker 1: the conference.
[1:13:46] Speaker 2: All right, y'all.
[1:13:47] Speaker 1: Welcome to the Bald Brothers. I have Tony Baker here.
[1:13:51] Speaker 2: Hey, peeps. This is Malcolm Barrett. Tony Baker, surprisingly enough,
[1:13:56] Speaker 2: is late.
[1:13:58] Speaker 3: Even though we have a guest, he is still late.
[1:14:02] Speaker 3: And at 9.44 PM last night, he double checked the time.
[1:14:06] Speaker 2: OK. Only to then be late.
[1:14:09] Speaker 1: Malcolm, I don't know why.
[1:14:10] Speaker 2: I am surprised. This is your friend.
[1:14:14] Speaker 3: No, I was telling Malcolm off camera, you're right. There's
[1:14:18] Speaker 3: certain things you allow with certain people. The lead singer
[1:14:21] Speaker 3: gets to do cocaine, have illicit sex, and destroy the
[1:14:24] Speaker 3: hotel room as long as they deliver when the show
[1:14:27] Speaker 3: is on. Tony Baker is David Ruffin.
[1:14:30] Speaker 2: Who are you in this? I'm oldest at best.
[1:14:34] Speaker 3: I'm Otis at best. I keep the group on time.
[1:14:37] Speaker 3: I'm working with the thing. I'm talking to the guests.
[1:14:40] Speaker 3: I'm producing the show. But Tony Baker gets, see, when
[1:14:43] Speaker 3: I work with Angel, she's David Ruffin, but on time,
[1:14:48] Speaker 3: no cocaine, no illicit sex.
[1:14:50] Speaker 2: But then is she really David Ruffin? But performance-wise, she
[1:14:53] Speaker 2: gives you everything. OK.
[1:14:54] Speaker 1: Tony is David Ruffin plus sex.
[1:14:58] Speaker 2: Cocaine, and whores. If we had five heartbeats, who are you?
[1:15:02] Speaker 2: For sure, Otis.
[1:15:03] Speaker 3: Because Otis is still alive. He gets the last laugh.
[1:15:06] Speaker 3: Otis is actually alive today.
[1:15:08] Speaker 2: Oh, Five Heartbeats. Five Heartbeats, yeah. If we're the Five Heartbeats,
[1:15:11] Speaker 2: I'm duck. You're duck? I'm duck. You're not Church Boy?
[1:15:15] Speaker 3: Nah.
[1:15:16] Speaker 2: They could have made it without Church Boy. You know
[1:15:19] Speaker 2: this is Church Boy? Duck gets screwed over by JT.
[1:15:25] Speaker 3: JT smashed Duck's girl.
[1:15:27] Speaker 2: That was his brother, Malcolm Barrett. How you drop a
[1:15:30] Speaker 2: member already? I didn't even ask. Who would you cut?
[1:15:37] Speaker 2: Church Boy is not. Just off rip. Get rid of
[1:15:39] Speaker 2: Church Boy.
[1:15:41] Speaker 1: Church Boy's out of here.
[1:15:42] Speaker 4: JT.
[1:15:46] Speaker 1: JT and Doug, you need Dresser. You got to have Dresser.
[1:15:49] Speaker 2: Yes. Right? Yes. Eddie Kang? Eddie's who you need.
[1:15:55] Speaker 3: I mean, if you're making the cut, we got to
[1:15:57] Speaker 3: go from five heartbeats to four, and you're running the label.
[1:16:00] Speaker 2: Come on, Malcolm. We lost a heartbeat. But you're letting
[1:16:03] Speaker 2: Church Boy got to go. Dresser is tall. He's security.
[1:16:07] Speaker 2: He's holding down the bass.
[1:16:09] Speaker 1: You know, I mean, I guess Eddie Cain left, but
[1:16:12] Speaker 1: then Flash came in.
[1:16:13] Speaker 5: Flash came in, because he needed a new lead. Church
[1:16:15] Speaker 5: Boy didn't step up.
[1:16:16] Speaker 2: Church Boy did step up. No one said, hey, give
[1:16:21] Speaker 2: Church Boy the lead.
[1:16:22] Speaker 3: Flash came. We haven't talked about this. I might as
[1:16:25] Speaker 3: well bring this up any time. Flash might be the
[1:16:29] Speaker 3: most devious group member of all time.
[1:16:32] Speaker 2: He's exciting.
[1:16:33] Speaker 3: Because not only did Flash quit the group, OK, Malcolm?
[1:16:38] Speaker 3: By the time he quit the group, he already had
[1:16:42] Speaker 3: a new album. And that album was coming out.
[1:16:44] Speaker 2: In two weeks. He was like Justin Timberlake.
[1:16:48] Speaker 1: But did Justin even record an album separately?
[1:16:50] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[1:16:51] Speaker 1: He went solo, and then it came out.
[1:16:53] Speaker 3: This is like Justin Timberlake left NSYNC, and two weeks later,
[1:16:56] Speaker 3: Justified came out.
[1:16:57] Speaker 5: Didn't Michael Jackson go... announce his departure from the band.
[1:17:02] Speaker 3: That was a freeing departure. That was Joe Jackson was
[1:17:05] Speaker 3: never going to let Michael go.
[1:17:07] Speaker 2: That is different. He's like, it's so beautiful for this
[1:17:09] Speaker 2: to be a laugh. He told Joe no. That was
[1:17:11] Speaker 2: my favorite. They were like, this is our last and
[1:17:14] Speaker 2: final tour.
[1:17:16] Speaker 3: But he gave them, Michael Jackson did Thriller and came home.
[1:17:21] Speaker 2: He did.
[1:17:22] Speaker 3: I did not know this until Michael the movie. I
[1:17:24] Speaker 3: thought he moved out at 22.
[1:17:26] Speaker 2: I didn't see the movie. Was he still at the crib? Malcolm.
[1:17:29] Speaker 3: He was 30 years old, almost 30 when he left.
[1:17:31] Speaker 3: He made Thriller and went to his room.
[1:17:35] Speaker 2: He came home, made an ice cream sundae. And waited
[1:17:38] Speaker 2: for supper. And waited for supper after making Human Nature.
[1:17:43] Speaker 3: You went to the studio, dropped Human Nature, and went
[1:17:48] Speaker 3: back to your bedroom?
[1:17:49] Speaker 2: Did he have his own room? He had his own room. Oh,
[1:17:51] Speaker 2: that's cool.
[1:17:51] Speaker 3: Now, technically, the estate is probably kind of all his.
[1:17:54] Speaker 3: Did you think Joe Jackson didn't have the master?
[1:17:57] Speaker 2: Do you think Joe Jackson didn't have the master bedroom?
[1:17:59] Speaker 2: How dare I make Thriller and I don't get the
[1:18:01] Speaker 2: master bedroom? And I don't think he even asked for it.
[1:18:04] Speaker 2: I don't think he did. He was like, oh, no,
[1:18:06] Speaker 2: that's for Joseph and my mother. Does he even call
[1:18:09] Speaker 2: him dad? No, Joseph. He calls him Joseph.
[1:18:12] Speaker 3: He sold, what was Thriller? See, if we had Tony's
[1:18:15] Speaker 3: autism here. Whatever he made, 20, 30 million records sold?
[1:18:19] Speaker 2: Thriller sold about 3.1 million albums. He said all that stuff.
[1:18:24] Speaker 3: And Came home to bubbles and a llama and a
[1:18:28] Speaker 3: giraffe outside his window.
[1:18:29] Speaker 2: Smelling someone else's farts. Yes. All kinds of people farted.
[1:18:33] Speaker 5: I got to not smell nobody else's farts in my
[1:18:35] Speaker 5: family once I make.
[1:18:37] Speaker 2: That's a great point. He didn't even have a bathroom
[1:18:40] Speaker 2: in his room. Michael Jackson waited for somebody else to
[1:18:42] Speaker 2: do this. If I have to wait for another doodle...
[1:18:45] Speaker 2: As Michael Jackson, thriller!
[1:18:49] Speaker 5: Can I tell you, I had two people live with me.
[1:18:52] Speaker 5: It was my boy's brother and my boy's brother's friend.
[1:18:56] Speaker 2: OK. OK. And they would stay with me. And I
[1:18:59] Speaker 2: didn't have them pay rent. OK.
[1:19:01] Speaker 4: But what I did do was, every time I knock
[1:19:04] Speaker 4: on that bathroom door, y'all got to get out.
[1:19:07] Speaker 2: Got to clip it off. I was like, I don't
[1:19:08] Speaker 2: care what you're doing. What time of day it is.
[1:19:12] Speaker 2: You rush poops? It's my house.
[1:19:15] Speaker 1: No, this is fair.
[1:19:17] Speaker 2: This is fair. I would knock. And I have a
[1:19:20] Speaker 2: girl at the time, too. Yeah.
[1:19:22] Speaker 5: So they're having conversations with her. They got to use
[1:19:24] Speaker 5: the bathroom. My girl told me at the time. She
[1:19:25] Speaker 5: told me he went to use the bathroom.
[1:19:27] Speaker 2: And then I knocked.
[1:19:28] Speaker 5: And he had to come right back and sit down
[1:19:30] Speaker 5: and talk to her. No, he still had stomach still.
[1:19:34] Speaker 2: There's doodle. There's residual doodle.
[1:19:36] Speaker 1: But this is the deal I made.
[1:19:38] Speaker 2: He didn't pay rent. You better.
[1:19:40] Speaker 1: I'm renting your body.
[1:19:44] Speaker 2: I turn it off like the water. I turn it
[1:19:47] Speaker 2: off like utilities. Hey, pinch it off. And I was
[1:19:50] Speaker 2: there every time. They didn't miss a beat. I love this.
[1:19:52] Speaker 2: I didn't knock more than twice.
[1:19:53] Speaker 3: I love this for you. I love this for you.
[1:19:55] Speaker 3: We're here with Malcolm Barrett, ladies and gentlemen. We are
[1:19:58] Speaker 3: talking Ghostbusters. I don't know how we're going to finish
[1:20:02] Speaker 3: the episode because Tony's late, but by the time we finish,
[1:20:04] Speaker 3: we'll have that part of the title. Malcolm is here
[1:20:07] Speaker 3: to promote his show, Average Joe. We got 10 minutes
[1:20:10] Speaker 3: before Tony is even scheduled to arrive. Malcolm, tell the
[1:20:13] Speaker 3: people why they should watch Average Joe.
[1:20:15] Speaker 2: Before he's scheduled to arrive.
[1:20:17] Speaker 1: I just, you know, it is what it is.
[1:20:18] Speaker 2: This is like reverse hot ones.
[1:20:21] Speaker 4: There's no food, and I talk about my show at
[1:20:23] Speaker 4: the very beginning. The show's called Average Joe.
[1:20:26] Speaker 5: I imagine that's why you're watching, unless you love my
[1:20:29] Speaker 5: storied career. We're on our second season, and because it's
[1:20:33] Speaker 5: modern times, that means the first season aired three years ago.
[1:20:40] Speaker 2: Was it really three years ago? It was three years ago.
[1:20:43] Speaker 2: There was a strike. BET Plus no longer exists. BET
[1:20:47] Speaker 2: Plus is minus. By the way, hey, grand opening, grand closing.
[1:20:53] Speaker 2: It was nice to know you, BET Plus. BET Plus,
[1:20:57] Speaker 2: I worked at BET longer than you did. It was lovely.
[1:21:04] Speaker 4: There's so many lives that hang in the balance that
[1:21:05] Speaker 4: we're laughing at, and I love all of you.
[1:21:11] Speaker 2: But it is, they don't exist no more. It's gone, bro.
[1:21:17] Speaker 2: It is gone.
[1:21:18] Speaker 5: So now we under Paramount Plus, and we're so excited
[1:21:22] Speaker 5: to be under yet another entity. with a plus on it.
[1:21:27] Speaker 5: I don't know how to sell TV shows. This is
[1:21:30] Speaker 5: so exciting.
[1:21:33] Speaker 2: Catch us after lying-ness.
[1:21:37] Speaker 1: This is how you sell a show, y'all. This is
[1:21:41] Speaker 1: how you.
[1:21:41] Speaker 2: Listen, I tell people who are going on podcasts, they're like,
[1:21:44] Speaker 2: how do you sell the show? You don't. You sell yourself.
[1:21:48] Speaker 1: And if I like you, I'm going to be like,
[1:21:50] Speaker 1: you know what?
[1:21:51] Speaker 2: I like this guy.
[1:21:52] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:21:52] Speaker 1: I'm going to check out the show.
[1:21:53] Speaker 3: Right.
[1:21:54] Speaker 1: You can't give me the break into two of episode three.
[1:21:57] Speaker 2: I can't. I'm not going to recap. I'm not going
[1:21:59] Speaker 2: to recap Average Joe.
[1:22:01] Speaker 5: If you are watching Average Joe right now, you love
[1:22:04] Speaker 5: Average Joe. That is your show. It's no need to recap.
[1:22:11] Speaker 5: Deon Cole plays a person. He's in trouble.
[1:22:16] Speaker 2: I try and get him out. Now we in Africa.
[1:22:19] Speaker 2: They did move to South Africa. Yeah! No, this is
[1:22:21] Speaker 2: a true thing that happened. We're in South Africa now.
[1:22:26] Speaker 2: I guarantee you this. When I signed the contract, didn't
[1:22:29] Speaker 2: know that was going to happen.
[1:22:30] Speaker 5: I'll tell you this. I thought when I signed the contract,
[1:22:33] Speaker 5: I would be on the same network I was on
[1:22:35] Speaker 5: at the top as I was at the end.
[1:22:39] Speaker 2: And I thought I'd be in America. Oh, my god!
[1:22:42] Speaker 2: Neither one of these things are true.
[1:22:47] Speaker 4: I'm at Paramount Plus, the land that Taylor Sheridan built.
[1:22:50] Speaker 2: Brother! He's the white Tyler Perry. I keep saying that.
[1:22:54] Speaker 2: He is the white Tyler Perry. I keep saying that.
[1:22:56] Speaker 2: I keep saying that. My homegirl don't believe me. She's like, oh,
[1:22:59] Speaker 2: but he writes so good. I was like, I guess. Bro.
[1:23:02] Speaker 3: But also. Paramount Plus is Taylor Sheridan's network.
[1:23:06] Speaker 2: Watch Landman. Watch Landman. Billy don't have no ass, Thornton.
[1:23:14] Speaker 5: Guy has negative ass. He went to Paramount Plus to
[1:23:17] Speaker 5: plus some ass, add some ass. I never even noticed
[1:23:22] Speaker 5: niggas with no ass before, but now I'm really watching him.
[1:23:26] Speaker 2: Where do you get these jeans?
[1:23:29] Speaker 5: Where do you get these specialized no-ass jeans from?
[1:23:33] Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Billy Bob? He's shocked. just be wearing
[1:23:42] Speaker 2: just denim doilies every day that's hilarious.
[1:23:46] Speaker 5: Solid show watch landman landman right before average joe right
[1:23:53] Speaker 5: after yellowstone average joe like all in all seriousness you
[1:24:00] Speaker 5: have had a career that is been so long that
[1:24:04] Speaker 5: you've went through traditional, like, I remember seeing you on,
[1:24:08] Speaker 5: was it Always Sunny?
[1:24:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, sure.
[1:24:10] Speaker 1: Early Always Sunny, Timeless.
[1:24:12] Speaker 2: Yes.
[1:24:12] Speaker 1: And then, like, TV Now, it's a, I mean, look,
[1:24:18] Speaker 1: you tell me. Does it feel very different as an actor?
[1:24:21] Speaker 3: Because I'm experiencing it very differently.
[1:24:23] Speaker 2: Oh, it's horrible for me. You seem to be doing great.
[1:24:27] Speaker 2: I am.
[1:24:30] Speaker 4: Grandfathered into this business. And I wish I wasn't. I
[1:24:34] Speaker 4: wish I started anew.
[1:24:36] Speaker 5: None of these credits mean anything. Watch Average Joe every
[1:24:42] Speaker 5: Wednesday on Paramount +. Yeah, it's different. I was at
[1:24:48] Speaker 5: the crux of racism when I started. When I started,
[1:24:52] Speaker 5: they were still trying to get racism in just under
[1:24:56] Speaker 5: the buzzer. My first two roles prominently were basketball player
[1:25:02] Speaker 5: number two and John Leguizamo's King of the Jungle. I
[1:25:07] Speaker 5: remember I was running late and I was like, oh,
[1:25:09] Speaker 5: they're gonna replace me as basketball number two. Sorry, they
[1:25:13] Speaker 5: kept me. They knew a genius when they saw one.
[1:25:16] Speaker 5: Said nobody's gonna play basketball two. Guy like Malcolm Barrett,
[1:25:20] Speaker 5: he's a star. Dribble, Dribble Nigga Dribble. My other big
[1:25:25] Speaker 5: role was Sopranos as Crack Dealer. I think I had
[1:25:29] Speaker 5: a name, but in my head it's- I just, what
[1:25:31] Speaker 5: season is that? I don't know, is watching too much
[1:25:34] Speaker 5: television season five, maybe?
[1:25:35] Speaker 3: Okay, I'm rewatching Sopranos right now. I'm on season two now.
[1:25:40] Speaker 5: Yes, and it was my home, I'm blanking on her
[1:25:43] Speaker 5: name right now. It's not Esmeret, but it feels like it.
[1:25:47] Speaker 5: But I remember we were both in like, she was
[1:25:49] Speaker 5: in a little bit more crack makeup than I was.
[1:25:53] Speaker 2: You know, because I was dealing, you know what I mean?
[1:25:54] Speaker 2: I think to her a little bit.
[1:25:55] Speaker 1: Because the dealers are on crack.
[1:25:57] Speaker 2: No, because I wasn't. She was on more crack than me.
[1:26:00] Speaker 2: I was not on crack. There was a hierarchy of crack.
[1:26:02] Speaker 2: I was, in my head, no crack. I didn't do crack.
[1:26:05] Speaker 2: I'm above it, you know? And then she's got on
[1:26:08] Speaker 2: a little makeup. She's like, do you think this is
[1:26:09] Speaker 2: too far? I was like, we're in it now. We're
[1:26:14] Speaker 2: on the street. There's cameras.
[1:26:17] Speaker 5: You should have decided long ago that Italian man's threatening us.
[1:26:22] Speaker 2: He yelled, action, go. Wait, who was your scene partner?
[1:26:26] Speaker 2: Was it Christopher? It was James Gandolfini. Yeah, it was
[1:26:29] Speaker 2: James Gandolfini.
[1:26:30] Speaker 3: I'm trying to remember this. I'm going to get to it.
[1:26:32] Speaker 5: They come to the neighborhood because he's trying to show
[1:26:34] Speaker 5: them the old neighborhood. You know what I mean?
[1:26:36] Speaker 1: The crack house.
[1:26:37] Speaker 5: The crack house. The crack house. I'm like, it's my
[1:26:40] Speaker 5: neighborhood now. He's like, yeah, it looks like it.
[1:26:42] Speaker 2: I'm like, what?
[1:26:43] Speaker 5: And he's like, that's a crack hole. And I'm like, what, motherfucker?
[1:26:46] Speaker 5: And then she's like, get me, motherfucker.
[1:26:50] Speaker 2: And I'm like, yeah, crack, you know. is very dramatic.
[1:26:55] Speaker 2: I love how your relationship.
[1:26:57] Speaker 3: To your career is very funny.
[1:27:01] Speaker 2: Because you are being dead serious on TV, but in
[1:27:04] Speaker 2: your head, you have to be like, when did you
[1:27:07] Speaker 2: let this go? I was offended. I almost quit the business. Really? Oh,
[1:27:13] Speaker 2: I definitely was like, crack. Crack is whack.
[1:27:18] Speaker 1: Crack is cheat. They disrespected black people in the surprise.
[1:27:20] Speaker 2: I was like, what is my arc? You smoke it,
[1:27:24] Speaker 2: and then you're high. I was a dealer.
[1:27:26] Speaker 5: But then they shot me in my nuts, because, you know,
[1:27:29] Speaker 5: they hate fucking black nuts.
[1:27:35] Speaker 2: So I was on that.
[1:27:36] Speaker 5: I was like, oh, I definitely got to think about quitting.
[1:27:38] Speaker 5: But then I was looking at all these Italians play mobsters.
[1:27:40] Speaker 5: I was like, y'all are going through it, too.
[1:27:43] Speaker 2: For sure.
[1:27:43] Speaker 5: I was like, y'all get better arcs, but you're.
[1:27:47] Speaker 2: Still playing a mobster.
[1:27:48] Speaker 3: Yes. They actually talk about that in The Sopranos, about
[1:27:51] Speaker 3: the negativity about what mob does to the Italian-American.
[1:27:53] Speaker 2: Yeah. So I was like, well, if we all sell enough.
[1:27:56] Speaker 2: I was like, let me sell out on an Oscar.
[1:28:00] Speaker 2: For sure.
[1:28:02] Speaker 5: I don't really feel like I sell out, but it
[1:28:03] Speaker 5: feels good in a sound bite. But yeah, so I
[1:28:07] Speaker 5: did that show.
[1:28:07] Speaker 4: And it was very weird, because at some point, he
[1:28:10] Speaker 4: let me sit in James Gandolfini.
[1:28:11] Speaker 2: He's like, because it was cold.
[1:28:13] Speaker 4: And we was really in whatever neighborhood Jersey was. I
[1:28:17] Speaker 4: got offered crack while I was there. It was a
[1:28:19] Speaker 4: very real. They were like, crack. I was like, I'm busy,
[1:28:22] Speaker 4: but let me use some of what you're doing. I
[1:28:25] Speaker 4: was like, I like what you're doing.
[1:28:29] Speaker 2: I'm going to use that. Sorry, poverty. Oh my god.
[1:28:34] Speaker 5: So at some point, James Gandolfini was like, you want
[1:28:36] Speaker 5: to sit in the car? You know, in a van
[1:28:37] Speaker 5: or whatever?
[1:28:38] Speaker 2: Because it's cold. And I'm like, yeah. And she didn't
[1:28:40] Speaker 2: say yeah. I said yeah. I was like, fuck it.
[1:28:42] Speaker 5: When else am I going to do that? And it
[1:28:43] Speaker 5: was like me, him, I think Big Pussy maybe. Because
[1:28:46] Speaker 5: they were just chilling. No, he had to be gone
[1:28:48] Speaker 5: by then. Oh, no, no, Little Pussy was dead. It
[1:28:50] Speaker 5: was some big white man.
[1:28:53] Speaker 2: Probably Bobby Bacala. It might have been. In season five.
[1:28:56] Speaker 2: It was a hefty man. Yeah. And we were just
[1:28:58] Speaker 2: sitting in the car, and they were talking. I was like,
[1:29:00] Speaker 2: look at me fucking sitting in the car.
[1:29:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's crazy.
[1:29:02] Speaker 2: And it felt weird.
[1:29:03] Speaker 5: It felt like I was sitting in the back of
[1:29:05] Speaker 5: a car with a bunch of mobsters.
[1:29:06] Speaker 2: Yeah. And it's like, no, these are all actors.
[1:29:09] Speaker 3: Was James Gandolfini in character? Was he like a method actor?
[1:29:12] Speaker 3: Was he like trying to beat Tony even off, or
[1:29:14] Speaker 3: he was just like?
[1:29:14] Speaker 2: I don't know. To me, he was Tony.
[1:29:17] Speaker 5: There was no James Gandolfini. He was a nice Tony,
[1:29:22] Speaker 5: but he was, I don't know. I thought they were
[1:29:24] Speaker 5: making mob deals.
[1:29:24] Speaker 2: Well, well, freaking well. Oh, speaking of Tonys. Yeah, we're recording!
[1:29:31] Speaker 3: Yes!
[1:29:31] Speaker 2: You gonna replace me? Nigga, I'm replacing you with another
[1:29:35] Speaker 2: on-time bald! Huh? Yeah. Another bald! Yeah, I'm on time.
[1:29:39] Speaker 2: We're having a great time, too. I'm spending the night
[1:29:41] Speaker 2: at Malcolm's house tonight. I can't wait. I can't. Not
[1:29:44] Speaker 2: everyone's allowed to spend the time, but everyone's. Well, well, well, well.
[1:29:48] Speaker 2: We done shenan'ed again. Any bald will do.
[1:29:52] Speaker 5: I'm not even balding, but I did it for this.
[1:29:55] Speaker 5: I wanted Joe Job that badly.
[1:29:57] Speaker 3: Malcolm Barrett is giving us the deets. He's already promoted
[1:30:00] Speaker 3: Average Joe.
[1:30:01] Speaker 2: I promoted this shit out of Average Joe. Tony Baker
[1:30:03] Speaker 2: checked in and then was still late. 1.30, right, Kev? Yep.
[1:30:08] Speaker 2: Screw over, Malcolm. Kev's holding in. We're the Ducks. Yeah,
[1:30:13] Speaker 2: he was.
[1:30:14] Speaker 1: I said, let's get Malcolm started.
[1:30:16] Speaker 2: I got here early, man. I got here at 8. Yeah.
[1:30:18] Speaker 1: The people love Malcolm.
[1:30:20] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:30:20] Speaker 1: You got the link, Tony? You put it in your Patreon?
[1:30:23] Speaker 2: In that one?
[1:30:25] Speaker 3: He was telling us how he was sitting in the
[1:30:26] Speaker 3: car with Tony, I mean, James Donofini when he was
[1:30:30] Speaker 3: on The Sopranos.
[1:30:31] Speaker 2: Well, you was sitting in the car? Wait, you were
[1:30:32] Speaker 2: in The Sopranos? Yeah. I'm glad you did your research.
[1:30:35] Speaker 2: I was on- I remember this. You mentioned this when you- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[1:30:39] Speaker 2: Season five, Tom.
[1:30:41] Speaker 3: When they go back to your neighborhood and it's all
[1:30:44] Speaker 3: cracked out and reverse ginger fried.
[1:30:46] Speaker 2: I guess. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Was it their scene? It
[1:30:48] Speaker 2: wasn't their scene where they tried to hit him. No, no, no, no.
[1:30:51] Speaker 2: That's season one. That's the black people trying to murder him.
[1:30:54] Speaker 2: That's season one. No, I think it's five. Yes, it's
[1:30:57] Speaker 2: deep into the show. I'll pull my gun out.
[1:30:58] Speaker 5: And if you look at the scene, you can see
[1:31:01] Speaker 5: that I'm wearing long johns because it's very cold.
[1:31:04] Speaker 4: I'm like a very sensitive crack dealer.
[1:31:07] Speaker 2: I'm like... The chill. And y'all really shot that in Jersey.
[1:31:12] Speaker 2: I told, I got off in crack. When somebody got
[1:31:14] Speaker 2: off in crack, I was there. It was on the block,
[1:31:16] Speaker 2: on location. The real crack people were like, hey man.
[1:31:18] Speaker 2: He was like, good job. And I was like, oh man, society. Society.
[1:31:24] Speaker 2: They didn't shoot any of that in Canada? Uh-uh. Soprano
[1:31:28] Speaker 2: was shot on location. That was shot on location.
[1:31:31] Speaker 1: In Jersey.
[1:31:32] Speaker 5: I mean half those guys, a couple of those guys
[1:31:33] Speaker 5: were like former mob guys for real.
[1:31:35] Speaker 2: What's his face with the hair? Pauly? Pauly? Oh yeah, Pauly. No,
[1:31:39] Speaker 2: not allegedly. I believe he went to prison.
[1:31:42] Speaker 5: I think he talks about the reason his hands would
[1:31:44] Speaker 5: always be like this is because he was like, you
[1:31:45] Speaker 5: want to make sure your hands is ready for some
[1:31:47] Speaker 5: shit to go down.
[1:31:47] Speaker 2: Oh, wow. He's my favorite. Pauly. Pauly.
[1:31:50] Speaker 1: He was doing jokes all the wrong time.
[1:31:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
[1:31:55] Speaker 5: There's another guy, Al, I think was his name. It
[1:31:57] Speaker 5: was Al or Joe or something like that. I met
[1:31:58] Speaker 5: him doing The Beat, another sort of like cop show.
[1:32:02] Speaker 5: And I remember I did a scene with him, and
[1:32:04] Speaker 5: he was like, here's my phone number.
[1:32:06] Speaker 2: I don't run from nobody.
[1:32:08] Speaker 1: I don't run from nobody?
[1:32:11] Speaker 2: I was like, I didn't even really want your number, dawg.
[1:32:13] Speaker 2: I don't run from nobody. He was like, just so
[1:32:15] Speaker 2: you know, I don't run from nobody.
[1:32:16] Speaker 3: All right, now that Tony's here, reminder, Average Joe is
[1:32:21] Speaker 3: on Paramount Plus, the artist formerly known as BET Plus,
[1:32:25] Speaker 3: under Landman. When you get on Paramount Plus, they're going
[1:32:28] Speaker 3: to serve you a Taylor Sheridan show. You're going to
[1:32:31] Speaker 3: have to search for the niggas.
[1:32:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, right after this.
[1:32:33] Speaker 3: They're not going to put Average Joe on the top
[1:32:35] Speaker 3: We got to look for Average Joe.
[1:32:36] Speaker 2: We got to look for D.R.
[1:32:37] Speaker 4: From Detroit.
[1:32:38] Speaker 2: I had to scroll over. Oh, you're scrolling over. I
[1:32:39] Speaker 2: had to scroll over.
[1:32:40] Speaker 3: They're going to give you seven Taylor Sheridan shows before
[1:32:42] Speaker 3: they show you a nigga.
[1:32:43] Speaker 2: Hey, guys, when you're done with Taylor Sheridan, come on over.
[1:32:47] Speaker 1: Taylor Sheridan and sports.
[1:32:50] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[1:32:50] Speaker 2: If you look at Paramount Plus, it's nothing but UFC pictures.
[1:32:53] Speaker 3: UFC.
[1:32:53] Speaker 2: If you look at their Instagrams. Football. For sure. Taylor Sheridan.
[1:32:56] Speaker 2: They're like, all right, Blacks. That's it.
[1:33:00] Speaker 1: We gon' push y'all up in February and beat you.
[1:33:02] Speaker 5: When you see the programming for Netflix and it'll be like,
[1:33:04] Speaker 5: here's some B, here's some black sensitive material, and it'll
[1:33:07] Speaker 5: just be like eight slave movies.
[1:33:09] Speaker 2: For sure. They gon' slave it up. We got emancipation, y'all.
[1:33:14] Speaker 2: I can't go on over.
[1:33:15] Speaker 4: Okay.
[1:33:15] Speaker 2: We had a bidding war. You're like, Lincoln? I don't
[1:33:17] Speaker 2: know if we watched Lincoln in black households like that.
[1:33:19] Speaker 2: But no, seriously, y'all. Hey, put on Lincoln. Great show.
[1:33:23] Speaker 2: Y'all shot in location in Africa?
[1:33:25] Speaker 5: We shot in Cape Town, South Africa. That desert was
[1:33:28] Speaker 5: really in Africa. That desert is really in Africa. All
[1:33:30] Speaker 5: the landscapes you see, nothing is green screened. All those
[1:33:34] Speaker 5: are real places. Not Canada, not Ontario. You know, they
[1:33:38] Speaker 5: shoot everything in Canada. They only shoot in Vancouver.
[1:33:40] Speaker 2: Big Vancouver. It'd be a big desert scene. It'd be there.
[1:33:43] Speaker 2: With the pyramids in the back. Vancouver, y'all. Like, is
[1:33:46] Speaker 2: that the needle?
[1:33:47] Speaker 5: We did the first season in Atlanta, because everything's in Atlanta.
[1:33:54] Speaker 5: And then we did, and that was supposed to be Pittsburgh.
[1:33:57] Speaker 5: And then we did the second one in Cape Town,
[1:34:00] Speaker 5: because they cut our budget. And so they changed the
[1:34:02] Speaker 5: whole script. They had a whole different script. And then
[1:34:05] Speaker 5: they were like, OK, we're in Cape Town. We're doing this.
[1:34:07] Speaker 5: This person's alive.
[1:34:07] Speaker 2: Trying to make it work. This person's dead. And they
[1:34:10] Speaker 2: changed it. And it's great.
[1:34:11] Speaker 3: I think our South African actors are great. What was
[1:34:15] Speaker 3: it like to shoot in South Africa? Did you get
[1:34:18] Speaker 3: a chance to get out much? Well, I had really
[1:34:20] Speaker 3: torn my Achilles. On a show, I had torn Achilles.
[1:34:24] Speaker 2: Oh, you really tore it? Yeah. The lady I was
[1:34:27] Speaker 2: dating at the time. I don't know if I should
[1:34:29] Speaker 2: say her name. It feels weird. No, no, no. Okay.
[1:34:32] Speaker 4: Her name is Katrina Wilson.
[1:34:35] Speaker 2: Katrina. You dated Katrina Wilson? We were shadowboxing in my backyard. Man,
[1:34:41] Speaker 2: you told your Achilles shadowboxing at your girl. First of all,
[1:34:45] Speaker 2: let me tell you what. The blackest injury ever. Turn
[1:34:49] Speaker 2: your Achilles going. With your girl. Because she boxed too,
[1:34:54] Speaker 2: you know.
[1:34:56] Speaker 3: I think only black people and boxers shadow box. I
[1:34:59] Speaker 3: don't think any other culture is just like, oh, I'm
[1:35:02] Speaker 3: thinking slap boxing.
[1:35:03] Speaker 4: You thinking slap boxing. You were a slap boxer. You
[1:35:04] Speaker 4: were a shadow boxer. If I was slap.
[1:35:06] Speaker 2: Boxing my lady, which is my new album, slap boxing
[1:35:09] Speaker 2: my lady. Slap boxing my lady. How did you tell
[1:35:12] Speaker 2: your Achilles shadow boxing?
[1:35:14] Speaker 4: I don't, because I'm old, I guess. It sounded like,
[1:35:17] Speaker 4: I thought a brick dropped and hit my ankle. I
[1:35:20] Speaker 4: looked around.
[1:35:21] Speaker 2: That's what Sterling K. Brown said. And it was crazy.
[1:35:23] Speaker 2: He heard a loud pop. He thought somebody kicked him. Oh, wow.
[1:35:25] Speaker 5: And you try and be masculine. And I was like, oh,
[1:35:27] Speaker 5: I ain't going down. And I stood up, and my
[1:35:29] Speaker 5: buddy said, you are going down, sir. They were like, sir,
[1:35:32] Speaker 5: have a seat. Like, I felt, they were like a
[1:35:34] Speaker 5: waiter at a restaurant.
[1:35:35] Speaker 2: They said, have a seat right here. I said, I will.
[1:35:39] Speaker 5: And I said, and then my neighbor, they non-binary. I
[1:35:42] Speaker 5: can't remember their name. It was like a tree or something.
[1:35:45] Speaker 2: But they come out. We'll say Maple. We'll say Oak.
[1:35:50] Speaker 2: Maple will come out. They might have been a town name. Poughkeepsie. Ooh,
[1:35:53] Speaker 2: I'm going to get close, buddy.
[1:35:56] Speaker 5: Poughkeepsie comes out, and they like, I heard a commotion. Like,
[1:36:01] Speaker 5: Poughkeepsie heard my Achilles pop from inside her apartment.
[1:36:06] Speaker 2: Oh, my god. Is that loud? It was loud. I
[1:36:08] Speaker 2: was like, I thought scaffolding fell. And it was just
[1:36:13] Speaker 2: my body.
[1:36:13] Speaker 1: How long did it take you to recover from that?
[1:36:15] Speaker 2: I was recovering.
[1:36:16] Speaker 5: It takes about nine months. I can still feel it.
[1:36:18] Speaker 5: It's still fucked up on the end here. I was
[1:36:22] Speaker 5: shooting with the Achilles. That's why I'm wearing it during
[1:36:24] Speaker 5: the show.
[1:36:24] Speaker 2: Wow. And I thought I was going to get fired.
[1:36:26] Speaker 2: I was like, they're going to replace me. You know
[1:36:28] Speaker 2: what I mean? And there was a couple auditions. I
[1:36:30] Speaker 2: see you, Omar. That's a physical show.
[1:36:38] Speaker 5: I was very worried, and they were like, Eric Dean Seton,
[1:36:41] Speaker 5: who's the producer and director, he goes, hey, they want
[1:36:45] Speaker 5: to know if you could jump off of a thing
[1:36:47] Speaker 5: or whatever, because there's going to be a boat thing
[1:36:49] Speaker 5: where you jump.
[1:36:50] Speaker 2: And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I'm
[1:36:51] Speaker 2: at home in my key, and he's just like, hit
[1:36:57] Speaker 2: the camera cord. Right? I was like, thank you, guys.
[1:37:04] Speaker 2: And I talked to Eric later, and he's like, I
[1:37:07] Speaker 2: was like, how'd I do? He's like, it looked terrible.
[1:37:09] Speaker 2: to hear Kaylee's was showing. Didn't look good at all.
[1:37:14] Speaker 2: I like how he kept it real. Yeah, he's like, no.
[1:37:17] Speaker 2: That's great. We're going to redo all of that. I
[1:37:20] Speaker 2: hate it when they do that. That was a great take, y'all.
[1:37:22] Speaker 5: We're going to redo everything they just did. One for
[1:37:25] Speaker 5: safety with someone else who can do it. No, but
[1:37:27] Speaker 5: I was like at home jumping off a couch trying
[1:37:29] Speaker 5: to do it. And then I was asking my doctor.
[1:37:31] Speaker 5: I was like, what do I do about this boot?
[1:37:33] Speaker 5: He was like, you can't do stunts in it.
[1:37:35] Speaker 2: I was like, oh, OK. We'll see it. Doctors don't
[1:37:37] Speaker 2: care nothing about your career. No, I was like, hey.
[1:37:40] Speaker 2: He was like, yeah, he cared more about my leg. Yeah,
[1:37:42] Speaker 2: that's crazy.
[1:37:43] Speaker 1: No, they don't know how you pay your bills is
[1:37:45] Speaker 1: not my problem.
[1:37:46] Speaker 2: I was like, I got to get out of here.
[1:37:47] Speaker 5: And then I'm like texting him from South Africa. I'm like, hey, man,
[1:37:51] Speaker 5: can I get in the water with this boot? He
[1:37:53] Speaker 5: was like, I would advise against it.
[1:37:54] Speaker 2: And I was like. Yeah, he says we leave it
[1:37:57] Speaker 2: to our discretion. Man.
[1:37:59] Speaker 4: So you got in the water with the booze?
[1:38:01] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:38:02] Speaker 1: Malcolm said I got to go to work, man.
[1:38:03] Speaker 2: I don't know what to tell y'all. I know. This
[1:38:05] Speaker 2: is a tough business, man.
[1:38:06] Speaker 1: It's been three years since the last season, man.
[1:38:08] Speaker 2: It is a tough business. It's been three years. I
[1:38:10] Speaker 2: got to look at recaps? I'm like, what did Leon
[1:38:14] Speaker 2: go through? What if they switched actors mid-episode? Man.
[1:38:18] Speaker 3: Like, I'm going to get you, sucker, when his mom
[1:38:21] Speaker 3: turned into the dude with the mustache.
[1:38:23] Speaker 2: Oh, they did that mid-episode. I was like, oh, OK.
[1:38:25] Speaker 2: Just a different actor. I just come back for the jokes.
[1:38:28] Speaker 3: Game of Thrones did that a lot. There was a
[1:38:30] Speaker 3: brand new Dario Naharis. They didn't say nothing about that.
[1:38:32] Speaker 2: They were like, oh, it was gone.
[1:38:34] Speaker 3: That dude is gone. Another white dude. There was three
[1:38:37] Speaker 3: Dario Naharises.
[1:38:38] Speaker 2: Is that what his name was? Yes. They were like, man,
[1:38:41] Speaker 2: that dude got another gig. This is Dario Nahar.
[1:38:43] Speaker 5: What's funny was, they didn't even have the same build. Like,
[1:38:45] Speaker 5: at least when it was The Rock or The Boulder
[1:38:48] Speaker 5: or whatever that big dude was, they would replace him
[1:38:50] Speaker 5: with another big dude. But that dude, there was a
[1:38:54] Speaker 5: long-haired dude, a short-haired dude, a built dude, skinny little dude.
[1:38:58] Speaker 5: One dude was long, white hair. The other dude was
[1:39:01] Speaker 5: brunette with a beard.
[1:39:02] Speaker 3: We were like, that's not Dario Nahar.
[1:39:04] Speaker 2: They said I said it. He said his name, y'all.
[1:39:07] Speaker 2: That's what you don't believe? Yeah. On this dragon show?
[1:39:11] Speaker 3: Before we get in, the people are begging for you
[1:39:13] Speaker 3: to do a Tahir impression. If you don't mind, if
[1:39:16] Speaker 3: you mind, we can move on. But I've seen this
[1:39:18] Speaker 3: comment a million times.
[1:39:20] Speaker 2: That's the comment? That's the comment. I can't do it
[1:39:22] Speaker 2: when he's not here. I don't know how to. Okay, fair, fair.
[1:39:24] Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Tahir, that was for you.
[1:39:27] Speaker 2: That was it. All right, here we go.
