In this episode, you and Quantum decide to test out the Spaceship on an interstellar trip. Unfortunately you end up crash landing on a planet full of garbage. After meeting Gary, The Garbage co-ordinator, you do some work to help out the planet, and fight off a few Garbage Creatures of course. Thank you to JD for the suggestion! I originally created these stories for my own children on nights when they couldn’t fall asleep. What started as a simple bedtime ritual has grown into a world of imagination designed to help families wind down together at the end of the day. Play an episode for your kids and encourage them to imagine they are the hero of the story — exploring distant planets, training dragons, discovering magic, or traveling through space — all while lying safely in bed with their eyes closed. Each 15–30 minute adventure is filled with science fiction and fantasy themes kids love: spaceships, dinosaurs, dragons, wizards, and whatever wild idea we dream up next. The stories are exciting, creative, and always safe for young listeners. When the adventure ends, the episode gently transitions into calming music to reduce distractions and help your child drift off to sleep — giving you a quiet moment to step out of the room and enjoy some well-earned alone time. Imagination first. Sleep second. Peace and quiet third. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/dad-s-bedtime-stories--6907147/support. [0:05] Speaker 1: Hello, friends from across the nation and around the world.
[0:08] Speaker 1: I'm Martin, and you are listening to Dad's Bedtime Stories,
[0:15] Speaker 1: the podcast that takes listener ideas and turns them into
[0:19] Speaker 1: bedtime stories. Let's check out our listener idea for today's episode.
[0:27] Speaker 2: That's read the Stories. I thought of an idea for
[0:30] Speaker 2: the quantum computer universe. Just now, like now that you
[0:33] Speaker 2: have a spaceship or whatever. You use the spaceship and
[0:40] Speaker 2: you go to an alien planet, and on that alien planet,
[0:44] Speaker 2: there's like aliens that are kind of like humans, but
[0:47] Speaker 2: they are more advanced, and they've like they have like,
[0:52] Speaker 2: like so much garbage that it's taking up most of
[0:55] Speaker 2: their planet. And you try to help them because like
[0:58] Speaker 2: you know, yeah, garbage. Thanks you help the environment.
[1:04] Speaker 1: Well, thank you, JD. I think that is an excellent idea.
[1:08] Speaker 1: And JD has certainly come up with a lot of
[1:10] Speaker 1: ideas lately. I've done I think this is the second
[1:13] Speaker 1: one I've done, right, JD. But you have come up
[1:17] Speaker 1: with many, many more. You could keep me busy for weeks.
[1:21] Speaker 1: If you've never listened to Quantum before, you could either
[1:24] Speaker 1: go back to the first episode or maybe a quick recap.
[1:29] Speaker 1: You're the main character you found a quantum computer that
[1:32] Speaker 1: helped you build a printer that helped you build a
[1:35] Speaker 1: bigger printer, which helps you turn garbage into cool things
[1:39] Speaker 1: like a secret underground base, a submarine, a huff scooter,
[1:44] Speaker 1: and most recently.
[1:46] Speaker 3: A starship.
[1:48] Speaker 1: Sometimes people ask me, Martin, what is the main character's
[1:53] Speaker 1: name in your stories, And the answer is that you
[1:57] Speaker 1: are really meant to be the main character you listen
[2:00] Speaker 1: to these stories, so it's whatever your name is. Sometimes
[2:05] Speaker 1: when I get to publishing book versions and working on things,
[2:08] Speaker 1: I give the character a name and sort of solidify it.
[2:12] Speaker 1: But right now it's you, so I hope you enjoy that.
[2:16] Speaker 1: But now it's probably time to get on with the
[2:19] Speaker 1: story after a possible word from a possible sponsor. Of course,
[2:24] Speaker 1: as much as I don't really love advertising, it is
[2:29] Speaker 1: unfortunately a necessity to keep the.
[2:31] Speaker 3: Lights on around here. Though.
[2:33] Speaker 1: If you want bad free episodes, you can head over
[2:34] Speaker 1: to Patreon. Now it's time to get as comfy as
[2:39] Speaker 1: you can in that bed, close your eyes, and imagine
[2:43] Speaker 1: yourself doing what the kid in the story does. Because
[2:49] Speaker 1: the kid is it's you wherever you live, I want
[2:54] Speaker 1: you to imagine it as yourself imagine yourself waking up
[2:59] Speaker 1: in your very you own bed. Everything seems normal for
[3:03] Speaker 1: a second, until you remember that you have a Quantum
[3:07] Speaker 1: computer and a secret underground base send a spaceship hidden
[3:13] Speaker 1: underneath your house, which is not in any way normal.
[3:18] Speaker 1: Good morning, Quantum says, from the watch on your wrist.
[3:24] Speaker 1: You lift your arm to see a little digital smiling
[3:27] Speaker 1: face on the watch, and good morning. Did anything strange
[3:32] Speaker 1: happen while I was sleeping? You ask, define strange? That's
[3:39] Speaker 1: not a great way to start, you answer, I have
[3:43] Speaker 1: spent the night analyzing the corrupted satellite from our previous encounter.
[3:49] Speaker 1: Quantum explains, I have not yet identified the source of
[3:53] Speaker 1: the signal, but I have determined that it was not random,
[3:58] Speaker 1: as you may have guessed. So someone's out there wanting
[4:04] Speaker 1: to attack us. Yes, Quantum answers, something incredibly intelligent, something
[4:11] Speaker 1: that appears to be interested in me. And what are
[4:17] Speaker 1: we going to do about it? You ask, for one,
[4:21] Speaker 1: I have begun making spaceship improvements. Oh, you say that
[4:28] Speaker 1: sounds pretty cool. It is pretty cool. I have reinforced
[4:33] Speaker 1: the ship's energy shield, improved the sensor array, upgraded the
[4:39] Speaker 1: emergency repair systems, and adjusted the interstellar engine. To make
[4:45] Speaker 1: it more efficient, you set up a little straighter interstellar engine. Yes,
[4:54] Speaker 1: the starship is designed for travel between stars, as I
[4:58] Speaker 1: believe I mentioned early. However, we have only tested it
[5:03] Speaker 1: inside this solar system. I believe it's time for a
[5:07] Speaker 1: proper test. You mean you want to go to another
[5:12] Speaker 1: star system. Yes, that is what interstellar means.
[5:19] Speaker 3: Right.
[5:20] Speaker 1: I totally knew that you answer, I'm sure you did.
[5:25] Speaker 1: Quantum says. You climb out of bed and look toward
[5:29] Speaker 1: the little red button on your nightstand. You press it.
[5:34] Speaker 1: Your bed slide sideways across the floor, revealing the same
[5:39] Speaker 1: glowing hatch that do the same one that's always beneath it.
[5:44] Speaker 1: You pull it up, open it and sit on top
[5:47] Speaker 1: of the metal slide, and when you're ready, you give
[5:53] Speaker 1: yourself a push and head downward. Immediately, you shoot down
[5:59] Speaker 1: the slide into a strange glowing tunnel that curves left
[6:04] Speaker 1: and right, dips sharply, and eventually slides out into your
[6:11] Speaker 1: secret underground base, which is very busy as usual. Helper
[6:17] Speaker 1: robots float around, moving tools and checking panels. The giant
[6:23] Speaker 1: three D printer glows softly against one wall. Over copters
[6:28] Speaker 1: sit in their launch base. The living room area is
[6:32] Speaker 1: lit up, and the quantum TV is showing some kind
[6:36] Speaker 1: of alien cooking show where the chef appears to be
[6:39] Speaker 1: cooking soup. But the thing that catches your eye is
[6:44] Speaker 1: the starship. It sits in the middle of the launch bay,
[6:49] Speaker 1: right below the bay doors, all sleek and silvery looking,
[6:55] Speaker 1: with little blue lines running across it. A few helper
[6:59] Speaker 1: bots float around it, polishing the hall and attaching the
[7:04] Speaker 1: last few side panels. It looks different, you say, correct,
[7:12] Speaker 1: the shield emitters have been reinforced, the engines have been
[7:17] Speaker 1: made more efficient, and the shield has been greatly improved.
[7:23] Speaker 1: You climb into the starship through the rear hatch. Inside
[7:28] Speaker 1: the ship feels well kind of the same.
[7:32] Speaker 3: First there's the cargo area with the three.
[7:35] Speaker 1: D printer, storage, tank, tools, helper bots, and now the
[7:41] Speaker 1: new mech suit parked over to the side. Then comes
[7:46] Speaker 1: the living room area, which is designed a lot like
[7:49] Speaker 1: a tiny house or RV, a small kitchen, a couch,
[7:55] Speaker 1: a quantum TV, and a comfy sleeping pod built into
[8:00] Speaker 1: the wall. Finally, you enter the command center or cockpit.
[8:06] Speaker 1: You sit in the pilot's seat and the controls glowed
[8:10] Speaker 1: life around you. Quantum's face appears on the main screen.
[8:16] Speaker 1: Today's test will involve a short interstellar jump. He says,
[8:22] Speaker 1: I have located a planet that may contain life near by.
[8:29] Speaker 1: You ask, nearby in space terms, Quantum answers, so super
[8:36] Speaker 1: far away?
[8:38] Speaker 3: Yes?
[8:40] Speaker 1: Won't my parents notice if I'm gone for too long?
[8:44] Speaker 3: You ask?
[8:45] Speaker 1: That is a potential possibility, one that I have planned for.
[8:51] Speaker 1: Behold you two point zero. A hatch in the side
[8:56] Speaker 1: of the spaceship opens up and out walks you a
[9:02] Speaker 1: perfect replica of you, wearing clothes that you actually own,
[9:09] Speaker 1: not the same ones you're wearing right now, but well
[9:12] Speaker 1: ones you definitely have.
[9:15] Speaker 3: Hello.
[9:16] Speaker 1: The other version of you says, I am a three
[9:19] Speaker 1: D printed, robotic reconstruction of you, designed to mimic your
[9:25] Speaker 1: habits and behaviors in every way. I will take care
[9:30] Speaker 1: of things while you're gone, including any troublesome homework. The
[9:37] Speaker 1: strange robotic version of you taps you on the shoulder
[9:40] Speaker 1: and walks out the.
[9:41] Speaker 3: Back of the ship. You watch out.
[9:44] Speaker 1: The window as it climbs into the slide and shoots
[9:49] Speaker 1: back up to your room. Are you sure that's a
[9:53] Speaker 1: good idea, Quantum, you ask, don't worry most people will
[9:59] Speaker 1: never know.
[10:00] Speaker 3: Notice.
[10:02] Speaker 1: Okay, you answer, I do like the whole doing my
[10:06] Speaker 1: homework part. After all, let's get going. Above you, the
[10:12] Speaker 1: hatch and the base starts to open and sunlight pours in.
[10:17] Speaker 1: You place your hands on the controls and start to
[10:22] Speaker 1: pull up gently using the hover mode. Of course, the
[10:27] Speaker 1: spaceship lifts up off the floor, rises smoothly through the opening,
[10:33] Speaker 1: and begins to head higher and higher above your house.
[10:39] Speaker 1: The hatch closes beneath you and hides the base entirely,
[10:44] Speaker 1: as if it were never there. You pull back on
[10:49] Speaker 1: the controls and the ship climbs higher. Activating flight mode,
[10:55] Speaker 1: you say, pressing a button on the console. Instantly, the
[11:01] Speaker 1: ship shifts.
[11:02] Speaker 3: To flight mode.
[11:05] Speaker 1: You press forward on the throttle and blast into the sky.
[11:10] Speaker 1: The sky slowly changes from blue into well black. Quantum
[11:18] Speaker 1: brings up a star map on the screen in front
[11:22] Speaker 1: of you. The target planet orbits a small star not
[11:26] Speaker 1: too far away. My scan suggest an atmosphere, liquid water,
[11:32] Speaker 1: and artificial energy patterns. So like aliens, you ask, Probably
[11:41] Speaker 1: friendly aliens, you ask. That remains to be seen. That
[11:47] Speaker 1: is why I upgraded the shields. Oh uh, thanks, I
[11:52] Speaker 1: guess that's kind of comforting. I was not attempting to
[11:56] Speaker 1: comfort you. I was providing accurate information. Yeah, okay. Quantum
[12:04] Speaker 1: highlights a glowing button on the console setting coordinates coordinates set,
[12:12] Speaker 1: press the button to activate the warp drive. Quantum, how
[12:18] Speaker 1: exactly does warp work?
[12:20] Speaker 3: Again?
[12:21] Speaker 1: The engine bends the space between two points, allowing the
[12:25] Speaker 1: ship to travel a shorter distance instead of crossing a
[12:30] Speaker 1: very large gap. So we're not actually going super fast,
[12:39] Speaker 1: not exactly, we're actually making the trip shorter. That doesn't
[12:45] Speaker 1: sound super possible. You say, many useful things sound impossible
[12:51] Speaker 1: until they're done. Now, are you going to press that button?
[12:56] Speaker 1: Or should I activate the warp drive myself? You press
[13:02] Speaker 1: the button. Warp field forming Quantum says, as the ship
[13:08] Speaker 1: starts to hum, then everything outside the windows starts to
[13:14] Speaker 1: kind of bend. The stars stretch into lines, space twists
[13:19] Speaker 1: around the ship in a way that makes you feel
[13:22] Speaker 1: a little bit sick to your stomach. Then the ship
[13:26] Speaker 1: shoots forward at what feels like an incredible speed. Oho,
[13:33] Speaker 1: you say, don't worry, the feeling you are currently experiencing
[13:39] Speaker 1: is fully normal. Hi, dot think it feels normal? You say, understood,
[13:47] Speaker 1: don't worry. It will be over soon. And you should
[13:51] Speaker 1: get more used to the feeling in future trips. Before
[13:56] Speaker 1: you can think too much about that, the stars snap
[14:01] Speaker 1: back into place, and a new planet hangs directly in
[14:06] Speaker 1: front of you. It's large and blue and green, with
[14:10] Speaker 1: really wide continents and shiny cities and rings of satellites
[14:15] Speaker 1: floating around it. It looks beautiful from space. We made it,
[14:23] Speaker 1: you say, yes, Quantum answers warp jump successful. You stare
[14:30] Speaker 1: at the planet amazed. But well you're staring something else
[14:37] Speaker 1: appears behind you. A blast of purple energy flashes. You
[14:44] Speaker 1: hear an explosion behind the ship, and you suddenly start
[14:49] Speaker 1: heading straight towards the planet. Alarms start to flash across
[14:55] Speaker 1: the screen. Quantum, I believe we have sustained a hit
[15:01] Speaker 1: to our engines. Quantum says, engine damage detected.
[15:07] Speaker 3: I thought we had.
[15:09] Speaker 1: Brand new shields. We do, However, they were not on.
[15:16] Speaker 1: Why were they not on? You ask, shields take an
[15:20] Speaker 1: extensive amount of power, and I did not detect anything
[15:24] Speaker 1: to be worried about. Well, obviously you were wrong. You say,
[15:30] Speaker 1: that is true. Prepare for crash. Seat belts shoot around
[15:36] Speaker 1: your body, locking you securely in place. You grab a
[15:41] Speaker 1: hold of the controls and do your best to steer
[15:45] Speaker 1: the ship as it heads down towards the planet. You
[15:48] Speaker 1: are doing an excellent job. I recommend heading straight down
[15:53] Speaker 1: towards this area, Quantum says, displaying a picture of a
[15:59] Speaker 1: large open area on the screen in front of you.
[16:03] Speaker 1: It seems to be some sort of gigantic garbage dump.
[16:08] Speaker 1: It should help with the impact and provide sufficient materials
[16:12] Speaker 1: for repair if we survive. The spaceship drops through the
[16:18] Speaker 1: planet's atmosphere. Fire glows around you, and the shield begins
[16:24] Speaker 1: to shake. Brace for impact, Quantum says, and the ground
[16:30] Speaker 1: starts rushing up towards you. You see a huge gray
[16:35] Speaker 1: brown area stretching in the horizon and rivers of garbage,
[16:41] Speaker 1: towers of garbage, garbage stacked so high it's well bigger
[16:47] Speaker 1: than most buildings on Earth. The ship slams into the
[16:52] Speaker 1: top of one of the trash mountains. It slides through
[16:56] Speaker 1: broken machines, containers, twisted metal, old hover carves, and that's
[17:02] Speaker 1: something that looks a bit like a banana peel. Finally,
[17:06] Speaker 1: it crashes into a soft hill of something that looks
[17:10] Speaker 1: like giant foam cubes and comes to a stop. For
[17:15] Speaker 1: a moment, everything is silent, and then quantum says, good news,
[17:23] Speaker 1: we have landed. What's the bad news, you ask. The
[17:29] Speaker 1: ship is damaged, the main three D printer is offline,
[17:34] Speaker 1: the engines are unstable, and we seem to be sitting
[17:39] Speaker 1: in an alien garbage dump. It does not smell good.
[17:45] Speaker 1: You look out the window at the giant piles of trash. Well,
[17:50] Speaker 1: as you said, at least we have materials. Yes, that
[17:56] Speaker 1: is good news. A loud knock echoes from outside the ship,
[18:02] Speaker 1: as if someone's knocking on the back door. Something is
[18:08] Speaker 1: standing outside the window, or someone an alien. It has
[18:17] Speaker 1: long arms and three eyes, and a shiny orange work vest.
[18:23] Speaker 1: It also seems to be holding a clipboard, which makes
[18:27] Speaker 1: it look kind of official, as people with clipboards do.
[18:32] Speaker 1: The alien waves towards you and knocks again. You move
[18:37] Speaker 1: over to the back door and open up the hatch.
[18:42] Speaker 1: Hello there, the alien says, cheerfully, Welcome to the Great
[18:47] Speaker 1: Northern Waist Management's Zone. You blink the What the Great
[18:55] Speaker 1: Northern Waist Achievement Zone? The guy replies, it's the largest
[19:02] Speaker 1: garbage dump on the planet, possibly even in the quadrant.
[19:06] Speaker 1: My name's Gary, Oh, you say, thank Gary. Gary looks
[19:13] Speaker 1: at your crashed spaceship with interest. It's a totally nice entrance,
[19:20] Speaker 1: very traumatic, but not very tidy. This ship looks totally trashed.
[19:26] Speaker 1: I assume you'll be leaving it here. No, hopefully we'll
[19:32] Speaker 1: be repairing it. Oh weird, Sorry about landing in the
[19:38] Speaker 1: garbage dump. We were attacked, Gary nods, Yeah, I.
[19:45] Speaker 3: Was gonna guess that.
[19:46] Speaker 1: The giant blaster remarks on the back of your engines
[19:50] Speaker 1: kind of tell that story. You step abu to the
[19:53] Speaker 1: ship and look around at the gigantic garbage dump. It
[19:58] Speaker 1: smells bad. It's impressive, isn't it, Gary says. As you
[20:03] Speaker 1: look around the dump stretches, as far as you can see,
[20:08] Speaker 1: there are broken, well what look to be flying things,
[20:13] Speaker 1: old robot bodies, cracked machines, torn screens, twisted cable, mountains
[20:20] Speaker 1: of packaging, and strange alien appliances that you've never seen before.
[20:26] Speaker 1: At least you think they're alien appliances. It's a lot,
[20:32] Speaker 1: you say, thank you, Gary says proudly. We're a very
[20:37] Speaker 1: advanced people, you are, you ask, Oh? Yeah, very advanced.
[20:44] Speaker 1: We mind asteroids and build pretty much anything we want.
[20:49] Speaker 1: We ship it across the planet, use it for a
[20:51] Speaker 1: little while, and then we throw it back here, and
[20:56] Speaker 1: what happens to it all? You ask, leaving Gary looking
[21:01] Speaker 1: rather confused. What do you mean what happens to it?
[21:07] Speaker 4: Like?
[21:08] Speaker 3: Do you recycle it?
[21:10] Speaker 1: Carrie stares at you, and then well he laughs and
[21:15] Speaker 1: laughs and continues to laugh. Oh that's a good one,
[21:23] Speaker 1: Gary says, he used the same material, dece What a
[21:27] Speaker 1: funny idea. You're quite a funny guy there, he says,
[21:31] Speaker 1: as he punches you on the arm. Actually it's an
[21:35] Speaker 1: excellent idea. A voice says from your wrist, Gary leans,
[21:41] Speaker 1: closer to your wrist. Is your bracelet talking? Oh yeah,
[21:48] Speaker 1: that's quantum. Hello, Quantum says Gary waves at your wrist. Hello,
[21:55] Speaker 1: small bracelet person. I am a quantum computer. Quantum explains,
[22:01] Speaker 1: Of course you are. Gary says, nodding as if that
[22:06] Speaker 1: explains everything. You look around at the dump again. Would
[22:11] Speaker 1: you mind if we repurposed some of this garbage? You ask?
[22:17] Speaker 1: Gary laughs. You can take as much garbage as you want.
[22:22] Speaker 1: We have more coming every hour. It's my job to
[22:26] Speaker 1: manage it. So you're in charge of all of this.
[22:30] Speaker 1: Gary stands taller. Yes, I am the supreme regional waste
[22:37] Speaker 1: placement coordinator. That sounds really important. You say, Oh, it's
[22:43] Speaker 1: extremely important, Gary explains. Without me, people might put like
[22:49] Speaker 1: waste in the wrong region and then it would look
[22:53] Speaker 1: like it look terrible around here. Scanning garbage, Quantum says
[23:00] Speaker 1: the ship produces a bright blue light that scans the
[23:04] Speaker 1: garbage around you. The main printer inside the ship is damaged.
[23:10] Speaker 1: As I explained, However, we do have a back up
[23:15] Speaker 1: three D printer. The only issue is that it is
[23:19] Speaker 1: much smaller. We can start by getting material and printing
[23:25] Speaker 1: components to fix the larger three D printer. After that,
[23:30] Speaker 1: ship repair should be much easier. We should start by
[23:35] Speaker 1: gathering material. I recommend using the mech suit. I believe
[23:41] Speaker 1: it is mostly intact. Mostly you ask mostly meaning it
[23:49] Speaker 1: works enough. It's not your favorite answer, but you climb
[23:55] Speaker 1: over towards the mech suit anyways. The cargo bay has
[23:59] Speaker 1: a few pieces of the walls missing and a few
[24:03] Speaker 1: damaged robots, but luckily the mechs suit does look fairly untouched.
[24:09] Speaker 1: The chest opens up like a giant metal rib cage,
[24:13] Speaker 1: and you step inside. The arms close around your arms,
[24:18] Speaker 1: the legs close around your legs, the chest plate seals,
[24:23] Speaker 1: and the helmet lowers over your head. The display lights
[24:28] Speaker 1: up and well in an instant, It's as if you're
[24:32] Speaker 1: seeing through the eyes of the mech suit itself. WHOA
[24:38] Speaker 1: Gary gasps, he brought like a metal chipion robot. Uh sure,
[24:46] Speaker 1: you say through the speaker, We'll go with that. Quantum
[24:51] Speaker 1: begins to highlight useful material in your helmet display and
[24:56] Speaker 1: you start to move around and pick up pieces of it.
[25:02] Speaker 1: Using a giant datomizer cannon, of course, that's well attached
[25:06] Speaker 1: to your left wrist. You simply point it at objects
[25:10] Speaker 1: that you want to absorb, squeeze your fist, and a
[25:15] Speaker 1: bright yellow light shines out, pulls the material closer to
[25:21] Speaker 1: you and starts to deatomize it into little pieces of
[25:27] Speaker 1: energy that it sucks into its storage tank. It doesn't
[25:32] Speaker 1: take you too long before you have a single full tank.
[25:36] Speaker 3: You move back inside the.
[25:38] Speaker 1: Cargo bay where some helper robots have placed the smaller
[25:43] Speaker 1: three D printer. You hook up the energy storage tank
[25:48] Speaker 1: and the printer comes to life. Piece by piece, it
[25:54] Speaker 1: prints what it needs to make the larger three D printer,
[25:58] Speaker 1: and the remaining helpers, the ones that weren't destroyed on
[26:02] Speaker 1: the crash, begin to repair the main one. It's slow
[26:07] Speaker 1: at first, but you keep collecting. Gary follows you around,
[26:12] Speaker 1: taking notes on his clipboard. This is fascinating, he says.
[26:19] Speaker 1: You're like turning garbage into new stuff that's kind of
[26:25] Speaker 1: cool or maybe gross.
[26:28] Speaker 3: You can't really decide.
[26:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, basically, you say. And then you see it, a
[26:38] Speaker 1: purple light shining down on the garbage around you. Quantum,
[26:45] Speaker 1: you say, analyzing, this is what I feared. It would
[26:51] Speaker 1: seem that this is the strange energy we faced before.
[26:56] Speaker 1: If I were you, I would prepare for another garbage creature.
[27:02] Speaker 1: And sure enough, broken pieces of garbage start moving themselves together.
[27:10] Speaker 1: Metal pieces slide into arms and legs, Thick cables twist
[27:16] Speaker 1: around the thing, and old tires and weird pieces of
[27:21] Speaker 1: biological garbage sort of suck themselves together into a weird,
[27:27] Speaker 1: broken looking garbage monster or something like that. Luckily, you've
[27:36] Speaker 1: dealt with things like this before. You immediately activate your
[27:40] Speaker 1: freeze ray. You jump into the air, aim down at
[27:45] Speaker 1: the garbage creature, and fire a blast of freezing energy.
[27:51] Speaker 1: It instantly hits the creature and turns itself into a
[27:55] Speaker 1: gigantic ice cube with the whole garbage creature inside. You
[28:02] Speaker 1: slam down on it with a fist and break it
[28:05] Speaker 1: back into hundreds of pieces. Only another garbage monster appears
[28:13] Speaker 1: behind you. A tire hits you in the back. You
[28:17] Speaker 1: turn around, point your freeze ray and freeze that creature too,
[28:23] Speaker 1: then run towards it and smash it into pieces. I
[28:28] Speaker 1: believe you will have to take care of the satellite.
[28:33] Speaker 1: A similar satellite has taken to orbit of this planet.
[28:38] Speaker 1: I recommend using your long range missiles to destroy it.
[28:44] Speaker 1: I have long range missiles, you ask, and as if
[28:49] Speaker 1: to answer the question, your field of view changes. You
[28:54] Speaker 1: look up at the sky and instantly zoom in on
[28:58] Speaker 1: something that looks very tight At first, you zoom in
[29:02] Speaker 1: further and the object gets bigger. Zoom in more, and
[29:07] Speaker 1: it gets even bigger, until it takes up your whole
[29:12] Speaker 1: field of vision. A satellite that looks like it's made
[29:16] Speaker 1: up of pieces of garbage, glowing with a strange purple energy.
[29:23] Speaker 1: Your suit highlights the target. Ready to launch missiles.
[29:28] Speaker 3: Quantum masks.
[29:30] Speaker 1: Uh, yeah, I'm ready, you say, Well, then do so.
[29:37] Speaker 1: All you should have to do is think about launching them.
[29:42] Speaker 1: Oh okay. You focus for a second, imagining missiles launching
[29:47] Speaker 1: out of the mechsuit and destroying the satellite, and in
[29:52] Speaker 1: an instant. That's exactly what happens. The hatch opens on
[29:57] Speaker 1: the back of the suit, A missile atisle blasts out,
[30:01] Speaker 1: and you watch as it explodes the satellite into a
[30:06] Speaker 1: whole bunch of different pieces. That was an excellent job,
[30:12] Speaker 1: Quantum says. You look around at double check, but you're
[30:17] Speaker 1: pretty sure that would have taken care of the problem.
[30:21] Speaker 1: What was that thing, you ask? I am not entirely sure,
[30:27] Speaker 1: but I believe it is trying to interfere with our operations.
[30:32] Speaker 1: You look around again at the endless gigantic alien garbage pit.
[30:40] Speaker 1: This place could be a real problem here, you say.
[30:45] Speaker 1: These people don't seem to know how to recycle or anything. Yes,
[30:51] Speaker 1: Quantum says, a very large problem. But there is good news.
[30:58] Speaker 1: The primary printer has been restored, so we can fix
[31:03] Speaker 1: the engines now, Yes we can. However, based on the
[31:09] Speaker 1: situation surrounding us, I would like to suggest something else.
[31:15] Speaker 3: Uh what is it? You ask?
[31:18] Speaker 1: Well, Gary, your planet has an enormous waste problem. Gary
[31:25] Speaker 1: looks at the mountain of trash. I well, I sort
[31:29] Speaker 1: of always saw this as an achievement, he says. That
[31:34] Speaker 1: is incorrect. Quantum replies, oh, I was afraid of that
[31:41] Speaker 1: what if we helped you turn all of this stuff
[31:44] Speaker 1: into something useful? Ugh, this garbage into something useful. Well,
[31:53] Speaker 1: maybe not all of it today, but we could get
[31:56] Speaker 1: things started. Quantum prity jets a design into the air
[32:02] Speaker 1: as a sort of holographic image. We could create a
[32:07] Speaker 1: station that would include collector bots, d atomizers, storage tanks,
[32:13] Speaker 1: and three D printers. The first printer will prioritize building
[32:19] Speaker 1: more collector bots and three D printers. After that, the
[32:24] Speaker 1: system can begin producing useful objects from approved blueprints.
[32:31] Speaker 3: Huh, Like what kind of useful objects?
[32:34] Speaker 1: Gary asks? Vehicles, appliances, tools, replacement parts, furniture, toys, clothing,
[32:43] Speaker 1: building materials and building accessories, gadgets, and pretty much anything else.
[32:51] Speaker 1: You mean, Like people could bring garbage here and leave
[32:56] Speaker 1: with like new things. That is direct, Quantum says. That
[33:03] Speaker 1: would make this the coolest garbage dump on the planet.
[33:09] Speaker 1: It would make it a recycling and fabrication center. Quantum says, well,
[33:17] Speaker 1: I guess it would be like the most important recycling
[33:20] Speaker 1: and fabrication center on the planet. Then that is more accurate,
[33:26] Speaker 1: Quantum says. Gary nods hi accept and Quantum begins immediately
[33:35] Speaker 1: the big three D printer inside the starship glows and
[33:40] Speaker 1: helper bots begin to carry materials into the deatomizer. He
[33:47] Speaker 1: starts by first producing a collector bot, a robot with
[33:52] Speaker 1: little grab or arms, a deatomizer cannon, and some energy
[33:58] Speaker 1: storage mabel to fly throughout the dump and collect material
[34:04] Speaker 1: The robot immediately gets to work as Quantum continues to print,
[34:09] Speaker 1: only this time it prints another printer. The collector robots
[34:15] Speaker 1: starts to feed the printer with energy, and the printer
[34:20] Speaker 1: continues printing other things, other collector robots and other printers.
[34:28] Speaker 1: This is totally amazing, Gary says, thank you. Quantum. Response,
[34:36] Speaker 1: with the other collector robots and three D printers collected,
[34:40] Speaker 1: Quantum switches again to repairing the ship. The printer prints
[34:46] Speaker 1: new panels and new materials needed to finish the ship,
[34:51] Speaker 1: and the helper robots start putting them in place. It
[34:55] Speaker 1: doesn't take long for the ship to be completely repaired
[35:00] Speaker 1: and for the new recycling center to be well underway. Well, Gary,
[35:07] Speaker 1: I believe it is time that we left you here. However,
[35:11] Speaker 1: the three D printers and collector robots will continue to work.
[35:17] Speaker 1: I have scanned your local databases and programmed the machines
[35:22] Speaker 1: with pre approved designs, designs from your planet's own database. WHOA,
[35:31] Speaker 1: that's totally cool, Gary says. He immediately rushes over to
[35:36] Speaker 1: one of the three D printers and starts flipping through
[35:39] Speaker 1: different designs on the screen. You mean I can make
[35:44] Speaker 1: like any of this, he asks. That is correct. You
[35:49] Speaker 1: maneuver the mech suit back inside the storage bay of
[35:53] Speaker 1: the ship, lock it into the wall, and open up
[35:58] Speaker 1: the chest cavity. You climb out and onto the ground.
[36:03] Speaker 1: Oh hell, Gary, we better be headed out. I have
[36:06] Speaker 1: fun with your new three D printing recycling center, you say,
[36:10] Speaker 1: as you wave goodbye. Oh thanks, guys. You should totally
[36:16] Speaker 1: come back and see how things go later on. Huh,
[36:19] Speaker 1: maybe we will, you answer. The back hatch closes and
[36:25] Speaker 1: the ship lifts up into the air. Uh, quantum, I'm
[36:30] Speaker 1: feeling kind of sleepy. You mind handling the flight home
[36:34] Speaker 1: or wherever?
[36:35] Speaker 3: You say?
[36:37] Speaker 1: Understood, I can do all of the driving. Have a
[36:42] Speaker 1: good night. The lights inside the ship automatically dim as
[36:48] Speaker 1: you walk into the living area. You climb into your
[36:52] Speaker 1: little sleeping pod. You pull the covers up to your chin,
[36:58] Speaker 1: close your eyes, and begin to simply focus on your breath,
[37:05] Speaker 1: noticing your stomach rising and falling with each breath and
[37:11] Speaker 1: allowing all of the tension and your muscles to sort
[37:15] Speaker 1: of fall away, releasing the tension from your arms and legs,
[37:22] Speaker 1: your neck, your head, your shoulders, and even your face.
[37:30] Speaker 1: And slowly you allow your mind to begin to drift
[37:34] Speaker 1: off as well, off to thoughts of new dreams, new adventures,
[37:41] Speaker 1: and new three D printed objects to come. Good night
[37:49] Speaker 1: everyone in.
[39:25] Speaker 4: New York. La union, no mothing.
[43:06] Speaker 1: No.
[44:27] Speaker 4: Mo m UNIONI um
[54:59] Speaker 2: H as
