[0:01] Speaker 1: And that's what you really missed with Jenna.
[0:04] Speaker 2: And Kevin An iHeartRadio podcast.
[0:08] Speaker 1: Welcome to you, and That's what you really miss podcast.
[0:11] Speaker 1: Good morning Kevin, Oh.
[0:13] Speaker 2: Good morning Jenna. You're joining us and it's dark on camera.
[0:17] Speaker 2: This is embarrassing. Sorry, we're late today, you guys in
[0:20] Speaker 2: our episode is late. It was the craziest week last
[0:24] Speaker 2: week and I could not get it together. Life happens,
[0:29] Speaker 2: life happens, but this way we have our finger on
[0:31] Speaker 2: the pulse of the Oscars.
[0:34] Speaker 1: I mean, I need all of your thoughts.
[0:37] Speaker 2: Well, it's I rushed home right after the show and
[0:39] Speaker 2: I was like, I gotta go. Everyone. People had plans,
[0:43] Speaker 2: people weren't watching. I was like, I don't understand, why
[0:46] Speaker 2: aren't you all into this?
[0:47] Speaker 1: Like me? I checked to think Instagram radically for like
[0:51] Speaker 1: the updates and like the winners, but like, I only
[0:54] Speaker 1: got the highlights. And then obviously it's very early this morning,
[0:58] Speaker 1: so I have not been on my phone yet. But
[1:00] Speaker 1: I did catch one very cute thing that Michael B.
[1:04] Speaker 1: Jordan went to in and out our in and out
[1:06] Speaker 1: after the Oscars last night.
[1:11] Speaker 2: In and out.
[1:11] Speaker 1: Oh no, no, no, no, sorry, the one like in Hollywood.
[1:14] Speaker 2: I think oh yes, yes, it's the one near the
[1:16] Speaker 2: theater in La and people were freaking and you put
[1:20] Speaker 2: like the oscar down on the counter where you pick
[1:22] Speaker 2: up your food, and it was like it just really
[1:26] Speaker 2: cool anyway, very LA moment, but very cute. I do
[1:29] Speaker 2: like when people do that.
[1:30] Speaker 1: I also like, he's so deserving of everything. Good person,
[1:35] Speaker 1: wildly talent, I mean beyond talented. So it's just very exciting, Kevin,
[1:40] Speaker 1: I saw we haven't spoken since. The one and only
[1:45] Speaker 1: Miss Sam Bailey, the one who wins just about everything,
[1:50] Speaker 1: came and was a speller on your show. Yes, how
[1:56] Speaker 1: was that? And did she win?
[2:00] Speaker 2: She did not win. I was worried that she was
[2:04] Speaker 2: somehow going to circumvent the script and still win, but
[2:10] Speaker 2: she was great. What happens is Jason Kravitz, who plays
[2:16] Speaker 2: Panch Vice Principal Panch. He gets to pick whatever words
[2:21] Speaker 2: he wants, so he picked some new words for her
[2:25] Speaker 2: that sort of described her. I think the version was invincible,
[2:28] Speaker 2: and he used an example of she wins everything.
[2:31] Speaker 1: The other one, I can't remember what the word was.
[2:34] Speaker 2: It was about adults playing children's funny my whole career. Yes,
[2:44] Speaker 2: and so she was just she was great. And it
[2:46] Speaker 2: was so fun to like be on stage with her
[2:49] Speaker 2: and get to mess with her, and you know how
[2:51] Speaker 2: she is, like she's just super super supportive.
[2:54] Speaker 1: Always always how cy was that little real that you
[2:57] Speaker 1: guys did too when you were running towards each other.
[3:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she's such a good sport. So it was
[3:03] Speaker 2: just it was really nice. Markel came to with her. Yeah,
[3:08] Speaker 2: and so it was just it was great. It was
[3:11] Speaker 2: it was funny to like, you know, when those groups merge,
[3:15] Speaker 2: so it's like this is my new work family and
[3:18] Speaker 2: my new friends and Amber shows up and you're like, well,
[3:21] Speaker 2: this is like famored, like like my sister, this meeting
[3:26] Speaker 2: each other flying. Yeah. And then also what I learned
[3:30] Speaker 2: is that there are a bunch of secret leaks in
[3:32] Speaker 2: the cast because they've been playing it cool around me.
[3:37] Speaker 1: And take out. Yeah, yeah enough, that's usually what happens.
[3:42] Speaker 2: I had no idea.
[3:44] Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
[3:45] Speaker 2: And I were texting afterwards, I'm like, they really showed
[3:48] Speaker 2: their asses.
[3:48] Speaker 1: Now, I know you thought you knew them, but they're yeah,
[3:53] Speaker 1: it's like a secret game of Traders. Yes. Also, so
[3:56] Speaker 1: when you leave, it also came who I like, uh, sorry,
[4:04] Speaker 1: it's so early. I actually don't have words. I admittedly
[4:10] Speaker 1: don't like didn't know her when she went into Chicago.
[4:14] Speaker 1: It was like, who is that? Yes, I'm just not
[4:18] Speaker 1: I watched some reality teaving not all reality TV, but
[4:22] Speaker 1: Mark balance is going in to join her, and they
[4:25] Speaker 1: were on Dancing with the Stars together. Correct, that was
[4:29] Speaker 1: it was just her partner, I believe.
[4:31] Speaker 2: So. Yes, So I didn't know Whitney because I'd never
[4:36] Speaker 2: seen warmon wives. But what a joy she We all
[4:43] Speaker 2: were like, she was so nice, that's so down, was
[4:47] Speaker 2: really really lovely. Just like she makes me want to
[4:51] Speaker 2: go see Chicago now with her and Mark. I know Mark.
[4:53] Speaker 2: Mark is also just like, oh you know, Mark, one
[4:56] Speaker 2: of the nicest humans the planet.
[5:00] Speaker 1: I think this would be a good cast for you
[5:02] Speaker 1: to go see. Yeah this time, I'm still missed Alex.
[5:07] Speaker 1: I know, I know, but Mark is great. Whitney. I'm
[5:12] Speaker 1: a big fan. Now, Okay, we love it.
[5:14] Speaker 2: She was so nice and and I think with that
[5:19] Speaker 2: show too, I think they both seem they do a
[5:23] Speaker 2: good job casting or like stunt casting Chicago. I feel like,
[5:27] Speaker 2: especially with what that show is about, so you get
[5:30] Speaker 2: sort of reality shows where like there's this meta thing
[5:32] Speaker 2: going on.
[5:33] Speaker 1: Yes, with the roxy in the paper and the dreams
[5:37] Speaker 1: still famous and all the things. I have another podcast.
[5:43] Speaker 1: The podcast is coming out this week. Un the Finals
[5:46] Speaker 1: coming out this week, first week, first week. Yes, we
[5:51] Speaker 1: very exciting, comes out Arizon Thursday Wednesdays, so Wednesday mornings.
[5:57] Speaker 1: Everybody should listen to Unfinable as well. If you want
[6:00] Speaker 1: to hear my subscribe my voice again sick of my
[6:03] Speaker 1: own voice. Wasn't that your YouTube name or your advicepace name?
[6:06] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[6:07] Speaker 1: Wow, good grammory me? I am? I really am? Uh Okay.
[6:14] Speaker 1: Let's talk about the Oscars a little bit. So you
[6:16] Speaker 1: obviously watched. I did not. I did. I saw the highlights,
[6:19] Speaker 1: but I also I was thinking about it last night
[6:22] Speaker 1: and I was like, of course, Kevin's gonna watch. You're invested.
[6:25] Speaker 1: You've seen all of these things. You've seen every actor
[6:27] Speaker 1: and every piece, and like, I have only seen Cape
[6:30] Speaker 1: up Demon actors because of this podcast. That's the only
[6:33] Speaker 1: thing in the Oscars I did this year. So I
[6:35] Speaker 1: was very happy when I heard that they won. What
[6:37] Speaker 1: a monumental thing. But I'm not invested at Also, why
[6:42] Speaker 1: would I watch right now? Yea there, I will get
[6:45] Speaker 1: back there. But tell me what you thought.
[6:49] Speaker 2: As far as the winners go, I thought it was
[6:52] Speaker 2: a pretty good split. It's great. It wasn't just an
[6:55] Speaker 2: outright sweep for one bout after another or Sinners, which
[7:01] Speaker 2: I thought was nice. I thought it was good obviously
[7:05] Speaker 2: one Battle one Best Picture and it won Best Director
[7:10] Speaker 2: Best and you love that screenplay?
[7:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, I loved it. I thought this was a very
[7:14] Speaker 1: good year. Yes I have, that's what I've heard. That's right.
[7:17] Speaker 2: I love that movie. I thought Centers. I love Sinners
[7:20] Speaker 2: as well. I thought Centers was great. Michael B. Jordan
[7:23] Speaker 2: won Best Actor, Like you said, we want to in
[7:27] Speaker 2: and out yep, and then Hamnett right, yeah, Jesse Buckley,
[7:31] Speaker 2: I think out of anything going into this, Jesse Buckley
[7:35] Speaker 2: and Golden winning Best Song were like the two absolute locks.
[7:40] Speaker 1: Got it.
[7:41] Speaker 2: Like there was no even debate whether or not those
[7:44] Speaker 2: things are going to win.
[7:45] Speaker 1: Got it?
[7:46] Speaker 2: I will say though, So Golden winning obviously not a
[7:50] Speaker 2: shocker and very exciting. Yeah, and like it's the first
[7:55] Speaker 2: K pop song to be nominated, the first K pop
[7:57] Speaker 2: song to win, obviously, And then they cut them off
[8:02] Speaker 2: their speech. They cut off Maggie No, not Maggie Okay
[8:07] Speaker 2: no no so no so Okay won for Best Animated Feature.
[8:11] Speaker 2: She did her whole speech. But when Golden the Song won,
[8:16] Speaker 2: they there's obviously there's like how many people were up there,
[8:21] Speaker 2: like five people who worked on the song.
[8:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, oh no.
[8:26] Speaker 2: Yeah, And they cut it off like right as the
[8:29] Speaker 2: second person was starting to talk on and it wasn't
[8:32] Speaker 2: even like they faded in the music. They just like
[8:34] Speaker 2: guested the music. They cut to a wide shot and
[8:38] Speaker 2: it was so just look, Codin O'Brien is great. He
[8:44] Speaker 2: is a legend, and it's a hard thing to do
[8:47] Speaker 2: this show. And you have all these weird bits with
[8:53] Speaker 2: like with a lot of the presenters, then most of
[8:56] Speaker 2: them don't work. Yeah right, yeah, And I'm like, you
[9:00] Speaker 2: have a historic moment. Anybody winning an oscar at any
[9:04] Speaker 2: point its historic. And the fact that you can't allow
[9:08] Speaker 2: in extra fifteen twenty six seconds for like the Korean
[9:13] Speaker 2: people who won this song to like this award come on, yeah,
[9:17] Speaker 2: for the first time ever in the history ninety eight years.
[9:22] Speaker 2: So like you can have Robert Downey Junior and Chris
[9:25] Speaker 2: Evans have this really terrible bit about it's just like okay, guys,
[9:31] Speaker 2: like what are we here for? Are we here to
[9:34] Speaker 2: like see these things? It's also like the biggest song
[9:36] Speaker 2: of the year. It's not even like you can say
[9:37] Speaker 2: it's some obscure song that nobody heard.
[9:39] Speaker 1: Oh no, sure, it's just like they performed so good.
[9:45] Speaker 1: It's crazy. I mean, not that the others performed, but
[9:48] Speaker 1: it's it's yes, it's my favorite song over here.
[9:52] Speaker 2: Well, it is also weird. I will say I hate
[9:53] Speaker 2: that too, that there are five songs only two of
[9:57] Speaker 2: them got to perform, which I also feel like is disrespectful.
[10:00] Speaker 1: I know, I know, I guess there is only so
[10:02] Speaker 1: much time, but but I hear you on the exception speeches,
[10:08] Speaker 1: it's it's frustrating. Autumn durald archipad. I swear to God,
[10:21] Speaker 1: I'm sorry if I butchered her name. But she's the
[10:23] Speaker 1: first woman to win and Oscar for Best Cinematography, and
[10:26] Speaker 1: she asked all the women in the room to stand up. Allah.
[10:29] Speaker 1: Francis mcdormant, who did that in twenty eighteen, right, And
[10:35] Speaker 1: it's very powerful. I mean I didn't see it, but
[10:38] Speaker 1: I'm sure it was very powerful.
[10:39] Speaker 2: It was great. She's so well spoken, and it's a
[10:43] Speaker 2: weird thing to hear, like I go, this is the
[10:46] Speaker 2: first woman to win Best cinematographer. Wow, and it just
[10:50] Speaker 2: feels like it's twenty twenty six. Yeah, and we're still
[10:54] Speaker 2: saying this is the first time a woman has done Like,
[10:58] Speaker 2: what are we doing.
[11:00] Speaker 1: Of women that DP females that I've worked with or
[11:03] Speaker 1: women that I've worked with? Is crazy?
[11:06] Speaker 2: So like why but it is? It is super deserved.
[11:10] Speaker 2: The movie looks beautiful. There's so much like there's also
[11:14] Speaker 2: like so many beautiful shots of natural light. Yeah, it's gourgeous.
[11:18] Speaker 2: And Ryan Kugler, the classy, classy man that he is,
[11:21] Speaker 2: went and grabbed her son from further back in the
[11:24] Speaker 2: theater and brought him up to watch her speech where
[11:29] Speaker 2: she was sitting. It was just you know what I
[11:33] Speaker 2: also love is that the special thing I think about Sinners,
[11:38] Speaker 2: and I also think this like transcended the movie itself
[11:43] Speaker 2: into the people to the voters, is how proud everybody
[11:48] Speaker 2: is of that movie that they worked on, and the
[11:51] Speaker 2: love for Ryan Kugler and therefore the love Ryan Kugler
[11:55] Speaker 2: has for what he does and everybody around him. It's
[11:58] Speaker 2: sort of like a John Chruth to me in terms of.
[12:01] Speaker 1: Like the leadership testament to like it starts at the
[12:05] Speaker 1: top kind of leadership vibe that like you know, creates
[12:09] Speaker 1: a really good environment, right.
[12:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's like he's young, and it's nice to
[12:14] Speaker 2: like see that, to see somebody in that position of
[12:19] Speaker 2: power and to be that good, that that excellent not
[12:23] Speaker 2: only what he does, but also seemingly that excellent of
[12:27] Speaker 2: a person to everybody around him.
[12:29] Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes. There was also a bridesmaid reunion which
[12:32] Speaker 1: I saw, which I thought I saw their like entrance
[12:35] Speaker 1: or they're like yes to the audience.
[12:36] Speaker 2: How was that? It was great? They're all just they're all.
[12:42] Speaker 1: So funny of comedy queens.
[12:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, I don't know why we aren't doing more
[12:49] Speaker 2: comedy movies. It doesn't have to be Bridesmaids too, but
[12:52] Speaker 2: like we need more comedy movies with some combination of
[12:55] Speaker 2: all of them. Yeah, you know, we need a spy
[12:59] Speaker 2: too as well. Seeing Rose Byrne and Mlissa McCarthy next
[13:04] Speaker 2: to each other, I'm like, can we just these two
[13:06] Speaker 2: comedy queens? I think. The other thing that I it's
[13:10] Speaker 2: so shocking to have like comedy like at the Oscars,
[13:14] Speaker 2: because usually comedy never wins any awards, you know, it's
[13:18] Speaker 2: only for the entertainment of the show, right, But also
[13:21] Speaker 2: all those women are such good dramatic actors, and I
[13:24] Speaker 2: was up there. I'm like, they're all just so good
[13:27] Speaker 2: at everything they do. It's ridiculous. My only fault with
[13:31] Speaker 2: it was the sound. The sound all night was pretty bad,
[13:35] Speaker 2: which for a show that's watching like a billion people,
[13:37] Speaker 2: it's like, can we.
[13:39] Speaker 1: Shocking? It's always like that though. I feel like Coston times,
[13:42] Speaker 1: you're like, what is going on? I feel like I
[13:44] Speaker 1: watched millions of award shows. You're like, we've done this.
[13:47] Speaker 1: This is the same venue every year, right, like we
[13:51] Speaker 1: know where we're going to be. It's different when you
[13:53] Speaker 1: have a theater, like you're showing up to a one
[13:55] Speaker 1: off performance.
[13:56] Speaker 2: This is the same place every year. Correct, there was
[14:00] Speaker 2: the first time ever they did best casting.
[14:03] Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's it's very exciting.
[14:07] Speaker 2: They just need to add stunts. I think they need
[14:09] Speaker 2: to add stunts and then I'll be good.
[14:11] Speaker 1: Okay.
[14:12] Speaker 2: Best casting was stacked. It was lots of names that
[14:15] Speaker 2: you know and we've auditioned for. It's about damn time.
[14:21] Speaker 2: I don't think people it's one of those unsung things
[14:24] Speaker 2: like that. People don't realize the amount of work that
[14:27] Speaker 2: goes into it. Yes, I think a lot of people
[14:29] Speaker 2: thought Sinners would win, right right, which I mean the
[14:34] Speaker 2: other ensemble movie one one battle after another, so Cassandra
[14:37] Speaker 2: Kulakundis one and again it was all about like putting
[14:42] Speaker 2: together that incredibly talented Okay, my cat just sticking her
[14:48] Speaker 2: button my face right now, she wants attention.
[14:52] Speaker 1: I've forgotten where I was. Yeah, like it just like
[14:55] Speaker 1: the casting in the ensemble cast. So like the incredible
[14:59] Speaker 1: group of talented people. Obviously some of them who won.
[15:04] Speaker 2: Any of these people, any of those casting directors one,
[15:08] Speaker 2: it was like fine, happy with all of those because
[15:12] Speaker 2: it is a miracle to get like a good group
[15:15] Speaker 2: that all works together, and all those movies work so
[15:19] Speaker 2: well together. And they had actors from those films come
[15:21] Speaker 2: out to present them. They had an actor talk about
[15:25] Speaker 2: the casting director that casts them.
[15:30] Speaker 1: It's giving actor awards.
[15:31] Speaker 2: Yes, it was really nice. And I think you can
[15:34] Speaker 2: also see what people don't see is like the love
[15:36] Speaker 2: the actor has for the casting director. It's like the
[15:40] Speaker 2: casting director is the first I don't know if barrier
[15:44] Speaker 2: is the right word, but the conduit between the creator
[15:49] Speaker 2: of whatever the project is and us the actor, and
[15:53] Speaker 2: it's like without their vision, without their expertise and guidance,
[15:58] Speaker 2: the actor never gets the gig.
[16:00] Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's the casting director's job is to like
[16:03] Speaker 1: bring the best or the most interesting or like people
[16:08] Speaker 1: don't know like a casting director when when actors say
[16:10] Speaker 1: like they fought for me, it's like maybe this role
[16:14] Speaker 1: wasn't written for this kind of person or this type
[16:18] Speaker 1: of actor who's generally pigeonholed into one type of you know,
[16:22] Speaker 1: comedy or whatever, and they're like, just to watch this tape,
[16:27] Speaker 1: I think it might be an interesting choice for this role.
[16:30] Speaker 1: Like that's their job is to either bring the best
[16:33] Speaker 1: of the bunch and the most interesting and the most
[16:36] Speaker 1: complex and like fight for that and be like I
[16:39] Speaker 1: think that we should bring them in again, or I've
[16:41] Speaker 1: worked with them before and I know that they can
[16:44] Speaker 1: get there. They had a bad day, Like that is
[16:46] Speaker 1: all that all goes into what a casting director can
[16:49] Speaker 1: do for you if you believe in them. And that's
[16:52] Speaker 1: when actors are like that. They are the conduit, the
[16:55] Speaker 1: one who gets brought to creative to be seen and
[16:59] Speaker 1: get that chance.
[17:01] Speaker 2: And I think, like you and we can all like
[17:03] Speaker 2: for the Glee people like Robert Oric did that with
[17:05] Speaker 2: all of us all like in the room talking to us.
[17:08] Speaker 2: They they will direct you and they'll be like try this,
[17:11] Speaker 2: try that, just like a director might. So before you
[17:13] Speaker 2: even get to the director, you know what they're looking for,
[17:16] Speaker 2: because this casting director has worked with you, yes, and
[17:18] Speaker 2: has pulled it out of you. And for one battle specifically,
[17:22] Speaker 2: they search for years and found Chase Infinity, who is
[17:28] Speaker 2: like obviously just like a revelation. It was so good
[17:31] Speaker 2: in that movie. And I've watched interviews with Cassandra before
[17:35] Speaker 2: talking about how it's Paul Thomas Anderson movie and you
[17:38] Speaker 2: sort of have to be like a hush hush about
[17:41] Speaker 2: like you're not putting it on breakdowns. You're not announcing
[17:44] Speaker 2: to the community that this is what you're doing yet,
[17:47] Speaker 2: and so you have to sort of like go off
[17:50] Speaker 2: the grid and look for somebody and like who who's
[17:54] Speaker 2: going to be able to be a new face amongst
[17:58] Speaker 2: Sean Penn and Leonardo DiCaprio, Like you.
[18:02] Speaker 1: Can also like hold up to like be on screen
[18:06] Speaker 1: with all of these like yes people. And he also
[18:09] Speaker 1: didn't know that Paul Thomas Anderson and my Rudolf were together.
[18:13] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yes, where have I been living under a rock?
[18:17] Speaker 1: That's crazy?
[18:18] Speaker 2: Well, I don't think people are are like commonly talking
[18:22] Speaker 2: about Paul Thomas Anderson's like personal life outside of an
[18:26] Speaker 2: award season.
[18:27] Speaker 1: That's fair enough.
[18:29] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, wow, it's also just crazy, like yeah,
[18:32] Speaker 2: what a power couple. No, I know, like just one
[18:36] Speaker 2: of the greatest like comic actors of our time and
[18:40] Speaker 2: one of maybe the best American directors right now of
[18:44] Speaker 2: our time. Like just absolutely insane. I want to talk
[18:49] Speaker 2: about best original score went to Centersvig Gornson. This is
[18:54] Speaker 2: a third Oscar and he's forty one.
[19:00] Speaker 1: My gosh, did you hear him on Amy Polar's podcast recently? No?
[19:04] Speaker 1: He They had Ryan Kugler and on Amy Poeler's podcast
[19:07] Speaker 1: she called somebody to talk kindly behind their back and
[19:11] Speaker 1: Ledig was on there and he's so funny. But what yeah,
[19:16] Speaker 1: what is it? What else is he.
[19:17] Speaker 2: Want for Oppenheimer?
[19:20] Speaker 1: Oh?
[19:21] Speaker 2: I forgot? So he has Christopher Nolan's new movie that
[19:25] Speaker 2: I'm sure he'll be nominady for next year again. So
[19:27] Speaker 2: he went to USC with Ryan Kugler. Yes exactly that
[19:30] Speaker 2: you grew up together. So it's just like.
[19:36] Speaker 1: Panther of course, yes, with our life. Well yeah, like
[19:43] Speaker 1: like John Williams like a name, a very historic run
[19:47] Speaker 1: because like he clearly just gets it.
[19:50] Speaker 2: People love him.
[19:52] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[19:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, again, you have the biggest directors of our time,
[19:55] Speaker 2: Christopher Nolan, Ryan Kugler every single time.
[20:00] Speaker 1: Oh and he also composed the score for the Mandalorian.
[20:04] Speaker 1: Yeah he'sant he's crushing it. Wow Wow, impressive, impressive.
[20:12] Speaker 2: Okay. One of my favorite moments of the night, to
[20:15] Speaker 2: present Best Picture. Ian McGregor and Nicole Kidman came out
[20:19] Speaker 2: No they did not, and they referenced mul Us the
[20:22] Speaker 2: entire even saying a little bit, No, they did not,
[20:26] Speaker 2: and their chemistry is ever still there.
[20:29] Speaker 1: No, so sad. Why did I miss that?
[20:32] Speaker 2: It was one of those things where I didn't know
[20:37] Speaker 2: that I would care so much, and like I wish
[20:40] Speaker 2: there was more of that at the Oscars. You know,
[20:44] Speaker 2: don't say it, don't just save it for Best Picture.
[20:46] Speaker 1: Bringing back let's see these people together again. It's like Bridesmaids.
[20:50] Speaker 1: It's like the It's a very nostalgic feeling that makes
[20:55] Speaker 1: people feel lots of things right, and it takes you
[20:58] Speaker 1: back to that time. It was kind of like when
[21:00] Speaker 1: people say that they don't want to seekly people because
[21:02] Speaker 1: it ages them.
[21:04] Speaker 2: Right, right, well Nicole Kimmon doesn't.
[21:06] Speaker 1: Age no, and what a what a couple.
[21:20] Speaker 2: Speaking of getting people together, So there was a really
[21:23] Speaker 2: really beautiful and memorium section where they started with Rob Reiner.
[21:29] Speaker 2: Billy Crystal came out and had a wonderful tribute about
[21:33] Speaker 2: Rob b Reiner and his wife. And then after after.
[21:39] Speaker 1: Job did Rachel McCallan's do want too?
[21:41] Speaker 2: Well? The scrim came up and then all of like
[21:43] Speaker 2: the leads of all these classic Rob Reiner movies, the
[21:47] Speaker 2: actors came out holding hands together.
[21:50] Speaker 1: Oh no, oh yeah, oh no, yeah.
[21:53] Speaker 2: Everyone from like Meg Ryan and Will Wheaton, John.
[21:57] Speaker 1: Cusack and these are special and this was creative and
[22:00] Speaker 1: different than like it sounds like a few quite a
[22:03] Speaker 1: few things were like thoughtfully done this year. So kudos
[22:07] Speaker 1: to the producers of the Oscar.
[22:09] Speaker 2: Rachel McAdams getting up there to talk about Dane Keaton, Yeah,
[22:13] Speaker 2: barbar streisand came out and we talked about Robert Redford
[22:17] Speaker 2: and then started singing as well, no.
[22:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, what what how did I miss this? That's crazy? Uh.
[22:28] Speaker 1: We also didn't talk about Golden the performance, which I
[22:31] Speaker 1: did see online after and Mandy Moore choreographed that. Oh
[22:38] Speaker 1: really they did a little special and Good Morning America
[22:41] Speaker 1: about it, and I saw it about choreographing, just like
[22:45] Speaker 1: the the the ensemble of Asian dancers with a special
[22:50] Speaker 1: and these beautiful golden flags and like in the audience,
[22:54] Speaker 1: you know, the little glow lights, like all these Oscar
[22:57] Speaker 1: winners and nominees like holding these clothes.
[23:00] Speaker 2: Well they clear so they clearly gave them out like
[23:02] Speaker 2: at the commercial break before. But it's like a really
[23:05] Speaker 2: long stint and so like people are winning Oscars and
[23:09] Speaker 2: they're holding these like light bulb looking things, and I
[23:12] Speaker 2: was like, what the hell is this? But it did
[23:15] Speaker 2: look very cool. It looked so fautiful. And there was
[23:18] Speaker 2: one shot from behind them as they're singing to the audience,
[23:21] Speaker 2: and it fully just looked like a concert.
[23:23] Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. I love it, very very cool. Yeah,
[23:26] Speaker 1: it was great, Yeah, awesome. So wow.
[23:30] Speaker 2: I mean I'm happy. I'm happy with it. I I'm glad. Oh,
[23:35] Speaker 2: I think a big takeaway. Since we talked about musicals
[23:37] Speaker 2: all the time, I do want to say the other
[23:39] Speaker 2: musical performance was from senass right, and I have watched
[23:44] Speaker 2: them perform this just like I have with Golden on
[23:47] Speaker 2: every show that they performed on Yeah, I've watched it
[23:50] Speaker 2: because Miles, who's in the he's like, he's one of
[23:53] Speaker 2: the leads and ciners. He's twenty years old, oh my,
[23:57] Speaker 2: and is an incredible musician and singer. And his boy
[24:01] Speaker 2: is so stupid, Jenna. I'll send you a performance, okay
[24:05] Speaker 2: to listen when you have downtime in like ten years
[24:08] Speaker 2: and you can listen.
[24:09] Speaker 1: I can watch this. I can watch this.
[24:11] Speaker 2: But I think the most magical moment in Centers and
[24:17] Speaker 2: maybe an all of cinema this past year was the
[24:20] Speaker 2: musical moment in the actual movie. And they do that
[24:24] Speaker 2: on stage, and they brought out all these huge stars
[24:27] Speaker 2: like Britney Howard and all these things to like sing
[24:29] Speaker 2: and join in because it's like a it goes through
[24:32] Speaker 2: the decades of music. Very cool all at the same time,
[24:37] Speaker 2: and people were saying like, oh, this needs to be
[24:39] Speaker 2: a stage musical and Centers absolutely should be a stage musical.
[24:45] Speaker 2: How that movie is set up, there are not a
[24:47] Speaker 2: lot of locations. Most of it takes place in like
[24:50] Speaker 2: this barn thing.
[24:51] Speaker 1: And can be really moved by the music of it.
[24:54] Speaker 2: Yes, like the music is already there. The structure of
[24:59] Speaker 2: the show is already there. I think it would be
[25:02] Speaker 2: such an incredible stage musical. I hope somebody does it soon.
[25:07] Speaker 1: Well you're not the only one. I did see that
[25:09] Speaker 1: that was trending online.
[25:11] Speaker 2: Yeah like it. It needs to go.
[25:14] Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, thanks for this Oscar recap, Kevin. I appreciate
[25:18] Speaker 1: it anytime.
