[0:04] Speaker 2: And Kevin an iHeartRadio podcast.
[0:08] Speaker 3: Welcome to and That's what you really miss podcast. And
[0:17] Speaker 3: if you didn't know, that's a turkey gobbll Okay.
[0:20] Speaker 1: We are so grateful for all of you guys.
[0:22] Speaker 3: We cannot thank you enough for always listening and supporting
[0:26] Speaker 3: us and writing in and talking to.
[0:28] Speaker 1: Us and just keeping us afloat. We really appreciate it.
[0:31] Speaker 2: Hopefully you're liking this new version of the podcast. I mean,
[0:34] Speaker 2: I don't know if you can tell, but we're having
[0:35] Speaker 2: the best time.
[0:36] Speaker 1: We really are.
[0:37] Speaker 2: We absolutely love it. I love getting to watch all
[0:39] Speaker 2: these movies and TV shows take me back. There's so
[0:43] Speaker 2: much great art out there, you know, I.
[0:46] Speaker 3: Know, and just have to revisit like I'm a total revisitor,
[0:49] Speaker 3: like I will. I choose to revisit things over new
[0:51] Speaker 3: things sometimes, and so this has always been such a pleasure. Kevin,
[0:56] Speaker 3: what are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
[0:58] Speaker 2: You're in New York.
[0:58] Speaker 1: You're in the heart of Thanksgiving Macy's Day Parade.
[1:02] Speaker 2: Yes, my sister lives like twenty minutes away in New Jersey.
[1:06] Speaker 2: My parents now live in Connecticut, so we're all meeting up.
[1:11] Speaker 2: I love Austin, and I are going to my sisters.
[1:15] Speaker 2: It's going to be great. I think it's going to
[1:17] Speaker 2: be so fun. I've done the same thing for Thanksgiving
[1:20] Speaker 2: every single year for the past I don't know, twenty years,
[1:25] Speaker 2: so this is going to be a lot of fun.
[1:27] Speaker 2: What about you?
[1:27] Speaker 3: What are you doing not to bring this party down?
[1:30] Speaker 3: I mean, I'm grateful for our city and our health
[1:33] Speaker 3: and are all the good things, you know, the most
[1:35] Speaker 3: important things. We usually spend Thanksgiving our dear family friends
[1:40] Speaker 3: home in Altadena, but unfortunately this past year he lost
[1:44] Speaker 3: his home.
[1:44] Speaker 2: In the line.
[1:45] Speaker 3: My god, he's amazing and he's been the most you know,
[1:50] Speaker 3: great spirited person through all of this, and it really
[1:53] Speaker 3: just puts things in perspective. So sadly we will not
[1:56] Speaker 3: be spending Thanksgiving there, but we will still be in
[1:59] Speaker 3: spending the Giving with the people we usually spend it with,
[2:01] Speaker 3: which is most important. And with two kids eating a lot,
[2:08] Speaker 3: we have to bring a lot of food because we
[2:10] Speaker 3: eat a lot.
[2:11] Speaker 2: Now, are you cooking a lot?
[2:13] Speaker 3: Oh?
[2:13] Speaker 1: No, we always make our mashed potatoes and stuffing.
[2:16] Speaker 3: Yes.
[2:17] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:18] Speaker 3: If we do an additional Thanksgiving like usually over the weekend,
[2:22] Speaker 3: we'll do like a second Thanksgiving with other family. We
[2:25] Speaker 3: will sometimes pre buy things because with two children. Again,
[2:28] Speaker 3: I'm not making mashed potato space, but I do make
[2:31] Speaker 3: mashed potatoes from scratch. And I learned about the joy
[2:34] Speaker 3: of a rice cooker about five years ago. Or sorry,
[2:36] Speaker 3: not a rice cooker, but a rice a riser for
[2:39] Speaker 3: mashed potato.
[2:39] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, much.
[2:41] Speaker 1: Easier than smashing potatoes.
[2:43] Speaker 2: This year, for the first time in a long time,
[2:46] Speaker 2: I'm not making anything.
[2:47] Speaker 1: Anythink given you usually like man the kitchen.
[2:50] Speaker 2: I know, well, man in the kitchen because we are
[2:53] Speaker 2: doing it at my sisters. I would have needed to
[2:57] Speaker 2: brind the turkey for at least twenty four hours, and
[3:00] Speaker 2: I'll be able to do that. So Austin's going to
[3:05] Speaker 2: make some pies. He's going to make his rolls that
[3:07] Speaker 2: he's dinner rolls because those are easy dinners. Yes, And then.
[3:12] Speaker 1: Well that's nice, Kevin. You get to just enjoy your
[3:14] Speaker 1: Thanksgiving for once. I mean, like you are, you're working
[3:17] Speaker 1: really hard. You have sandwich.
[3:20] Speaker 3: You're working so hard, you're sandwich between two days or shows,
[3:23] Speaker 3: So like, why not just sit back and like let
[3:25] Speaker 3: people take care of you for a little bit.
[3:27] Speaker 2: Was like, look, last year we ordered some food and
[3:30] Speaker 2: is that really bad? I'm like, no, just do it.
[3:32] Speaker 2: We never do that. Just order it all, get it all,
[3:35] Speaker 2: do it.
[3:36] Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with that.
[3:38] Speaker 2: Yeah uh yeah.
[3:40] Speaker 1: And Thanksgiving a.
[3:41] Speaker 3: Parade my favorite all the Broadby shows performing all there's
[3:47] Speaker 3: a French bulldog.
[3:49] Speaker 1: Float coming in this year, your dream, my dream. So
[3:55] Speaker 1: I'm excited.
[3:56] Speaker 3: And you know, the parade is different and fun because
[3:58] Speaker 3: the kids kind of appreciate it, especially Emma, and she
[4:02] Speaker 3: waits for like the bluey float, which we all ways float,
[4:05] Speaker 3: you know what I mean. And so it's really fun
[4:07] Speaker 3: and special. And so one year I hope to bring
[4:09] Speaker 3: her to the actual parade to see it in New York.
[4:13] Speaker 3: It was something like very special for me to experience,
[4:15] Speaker 3: so like, I want to do that for her one day.
[4:18] Speaker 3: So one year we'll go back and do that.
[4:19] Speaker 2: Watching that parade as a kid was one of the
[4:21] Speaker 2: most magical things. I loved it. I still get sort
[4:25] Speaker 2: of like starstruck by the front of Macy's. When I
[4:27] Speaker 2: walked past it here, I'm like, oh, I know this
[4:30] Speaker 2: is where it is. Have you ever performed in it?
[4:33] Speaker 1: Yes?
[4:33] Speaker 3: I performed in it when I was nine. It was
[4:34] Speaker 3: the coldest things giving in our lifetime. It was like
[4:38] Speaker 3: thirty degrees. We were freezing. The poor moms in the
[4:42] Speaker 3: show had to wear like sleeveless, like sleeveless craftime like corsets,
[4:48] Speaker 3: and everybody was freezing. But it was such a fun.
[4:52] Speaker 3: We got a hotel like the night before, my parents
[4:54] Speaker 3: woke me up. It's like four a yem and we
[4:55] Speaker 3: all go to the theater and get dressed and then
[4:57] Speaker 3: they bust you over and you perform on in in
[5:00] Speaker 3: front of Macy's and it's just so oh my gosh.
[5:03] Speaker 3: I wish I could go back and like look at
[5:05] Speaker 3: myself and tell myself at nine years old, like you know,
[5:08] Speaker 3: like you just do you have no idea at nine
[5:10] Speaker 3: years old what you're doing, But how cool is that?
[5:13] Speaker 3: So yes, it's very special and I will be watching
[5:16] Speaker 3: all that.
[5:19] Speaker 2: Do you understand that? No?
[5:22] Speaker 3: I think if I told her, like Mommy's been there before,
[5:25] Speaker 3: like she's only finally getting into the idea that like
[5:27] Speaker 3: mommy sing songs and she only wants to listen to ABC,
[5:30] Speaker 3: so like not yet, but one day she's like I
[5:34] Speaker 3: want to listen to her mommy songs and I try
[5:36] Speaker 3: to play her like dog Days or something different, and
[5:38] Speaker 3: she'd be like, can you play ABC?
[5:41] Speaker 2: It's a fine. Do you like Thanksgiving?
[5:45] Speaker 1: It's my favorite? Is it your good?
[5:48] Speaker 2: It's my favorite?
[5:49] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[5:50] Speaker 3: Favorite? Love and Graham is now like a Thanksgiving baby basically,
[5:57] Speaker 3: so he was born a few days before Thanksgiving last year,
[6:00] Speaker 3: and so we just had.
[6:01] Speaker 1: His birthday, his first birthday.
[6:03] Speaker 2: I can't believe he's one.
[6:05] Speaker 3: I know. The celebrations start like with his birthday, and
[6:09] Speaker 3: then it's Thanksgiving, and then it's Christmas and we're doing
[6:12] Speaker 3: all the Christmas things. So it's I used to hate
[6:14] Speaker 3: the holidays. I never loved the like it wasn't like
[6:17] Speaker 3: a thing for me. And now I'm like, what are
[6:19] Speaker 3: we doing?
[6:20] Speaker 2: Oh that's so cute.
[6:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really exciting and fun. And I think we're
[6:24] Speaker 3: going to take on ice skating for the first time.
[6:27] Speaker 3: Do you guys watch anything like other than the parade?
[6:31] Speaker 1: You do football? Or do you guys not do footology?
[6:34] Speaker 3: Like?
[6:35] Speaker 1: Is there anything?
[6:35] Speaker 2: No? No, I My entire family just watches like the
[6:40] Speaker 2: Cowboys always play every Thanksgiving? Yes?
[6:43] Speaker 1: Do you like leftover Thanksgiving? Do you eat leftover Thanksgiving?
[6:47] Speaker 2: Yeah? It's my favorite, absolutely big fan of it. I like,
[6:53] Speaker 2: I know a lot of people are turkey haters because
[6:56] Speaker 2: I think it's true flavorless. I know, I don't love
[6:58] Speaker 2: to do it. You just got to do right, and
[7:00] Speaker 2: I do it right, Jenna.
[7:01] Speaker 1: You do do it right. What's your favorite dish?
[7:04] Speaker 2: Oh god, oh man, I mean stuffing.
[7:09] Speaker 1: Yes, if it's done right.
[7:10] Speaker 3: I have very different definitions of what stuffing are, and
[7:14] Speaker 3: I'm I feel very passionate that the stuffing bread has
[7:18] Speaker 3: to be fluffy. It cannot be like that little inside
[7:21] Speaker 3: turkey stuffing be like overly wet.
[7:25] Speaker 1: No, it has to be like.
[7:28] Speaker 3: Celery onion garlicky driven white bread style stuffing. I have.
[7:44] Speaker 1: I have a few questions for you, Kevin.
[7:46] Speaker 3: Oh, okay, would you rather eat turkey every day for
[7:49] Speaker 3: the rest of your life or never have potatoes again?
[7:51] Speaker 2: Turkey? I love potatoes?
[7:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so turkey to have a potato yes, I.
[7:58] Speaker 2: Love potatoes, always baked scalloped French fries like, yeah, I
[8:03] Speaker 2: don't care how I love potato.
[8:06] Speaker 1: Okay. What about taking a nap or taking a walk
[8:08] Speaker 1: after eating?
[8:12] Speaker 2: You know your body wants to have a nap, But
[8:15] Speaker 2: I say, do as the Europeans do and go for
[8:17] Speaker 2: a walk.
[8:17] Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying I'm glad we're on the same page.
[8:21] Speaker 1: Have a pet turkey or have a pumpkin farm.
[8:24] Speaker 2: Oh, I think a pumpkin farm. Oh you know how
[8:28] Speaker 2: magic blood is going to a pumpkin patch? Can you
[8:30] Speaker 2: imagine if you had one?
[8:32] Speaker 1: I know we do go to a pumpkin patch every year.
[8:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, I love them all right.
[8:36] Speaker 1: Fine drink flat sparkling cider or cold hot chocolate. Cold
[8:40] Speaker 1: hot chocolate.
[8:41] Speaker 2: Yeah, chocolate is chocolate.
[8:44] Speaker 1: Have a second helping of your least favorite dish or
[8:48] Speaker 1: miss out on your.
[8:48] Speaker 2: Favorite second helping because like.
[8:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, and then why would you miss out?
[8:53] Speaker 2: I'll google it down.
[8:54] Speaker 1: Yeah for sure.
[8:55] Speaker 2: Four Thanksgiving? What are you best at? Cooking or cleaning?
[9:00] Speaker 2: Like setting the tone? Like hosting? Eating? What is it?
[9:03] Speaker 1: Definitely eating? I like to host too, but I'm not
[9:07] Speaker 1: hosting for Thanksgiving.
[9:09] Speaker 3: There's something special about eating leftovers for me at this
[9:12] Speaker 3: point in my life because it's like I never have
[9:15] Speaker 3: my hands free.
[9:17] Speaker 1: I'm always like feeding two other small things.
[9:21] Speaker 3: So leftovers to me, like after the kids have gone
[9:24] Speaker 3: to bed and I can like go into the fridge.
[9:26] Speaker 1: And like have a meal, like a second meal. It's
[9:28] Speaker 1: like really important.
[9:31] Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm really excited for thanksgoving leftovers.
[9:34] Speaker 2: Like most importantly, I still feel like I need to
[9:37] Speaker 2: like sit at the kids table.
[9:38] Speaker 1: Are there any like kids at the table anymore?
[9:41] Speaker 2: Yes? There there's all the nieces and nephews all set
[9:45] Speaker 2: like the kid's table.
[9:46] Speaker 3: I know, but I feel like they're also they're all
[9:48] Speaker 3: like grown at this point, half of them.
[9:52] Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough. What's your favorite dessert for Thanksgiving?
[9:57] Speaker 2: God, I mean I love a pumpkin pie. I love
[10:01] Speaker 2: a pumpkin pie.
[10:03] Speaker 1: What about over apple pie? We're apple crumble?
[10:07] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. I mean, I like it all.
[10:09] Speaker 2: Austin's been making like a chocolate green pie for the
[10:11] Speaker 2: past like three Thanksgivings, and I've had.
[10:14] Speaker 1: His chocolate pie and I really like that pie.
[10:16] Speaker 4: It's m h stupid, He's so good. I look, I
[10:25] Speaker 4: like a pie. I'll eat whatever you like.
[10:29] Speaker 2: David love a pie, but I feel like you have
[10:31] Speaker 2: to have a pumpkin pie.
[10:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's necessary, right, Yes. David's mom also cooks like
[10:38] Speaker 1: really good. She's a really good baby.
[10:40] Speaker 3: Like a pie, pine tart, like a like a pine
[10:43] Speaker 3: nut tart.
[10:44] Speaker 2: Oh, my chocolate pies.
[10:47] Speaker 1: She has a lot of pies. Pies are her things.
[10:49] Speaker 1: Apple pie cramp like blueberry pie. Yeah, it's all really good,
[10:56] Speaker 1: really really good, all of them.
[10:58] Speaker 2: Oh my god, thanks for never inviting me over when
[11:04] Speaker 2: she does that. Do you guys have a lot of
[11:06] Speaker 2: desserts after Thanksgiving? Like, for example, my family, we always
[11:11] Speaker 2: have too many desserts and nobody really wants them after
[11:13] Speaker 2: because everybody's so full, and then they just sit there
[11:15] Speaker 2: and then I feel forced to eat them all.
[11:17] Speaker 1: I feel like David will eat them all for us.
[11:19] Speaker 2: Okay, you're not a big sweets person.
[11:22] Speaker 3: You know, I believe it or not, I am. I
[11:24] Speaker 3: have I have moved. I have moved over to the
[11:26] Speaker 3: sweets department postpartum. I don't know what it was after
[11:29] Speaker 3: being pregnant, Thank you Graham. It never went away. Yeah,
[11:33] Speaker 3: it never went away. And so I love sweet stuff now,
[11:35] Speaker 3: but I'm not eating too much of it, especially on Thanksgiving,
[11:37] Speaker 3: but like I will have a piece of pie.
[11:40] Speaker 1: Maybe an attribute.
[11:41] Speaker 2: This has made me starving.
[11:43] Speaker 3: Do you guys usually eat in the afternoon or at
[11:45] Speaker 3: night like a dinner, proper dinner, or like a two
[11:48] Speaker 3: or three o'clock meal.
[11:49] Speaker 2: Oh it's not, it's in between because we would time
[11:52] Speaker 2: it up if I was in control of the kitchen,
[11:54] Speaker 2: which while no.
[11:57] Speaker 1: Oh no the Christmas did you make a big Christmas?
[12:02] Speaker 2: We time it up theoretically to be at halftime of
[12:06] Speaker 2: the Dallas Cowboys game.
[12:09] Speaker 1: Oh wow, you guys really are so like at.
[12:11] Speaker 2: Like a four thirty PM maybe or five?
[12:16] Speaker 1: Got it? Okay?
[12:17] Speaker 2: Early bird special?
[12:19] Speaker 3: Happy that that's similar. That's similar probably three thirty four
[12:23] Speaker 3: for us? Yeah, do anyone the turkey's ready?
[12:26] Speaker 2: You know, well, I don't have to make it this year.
[12:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, enjoy you're sitting back and relaxing. Things scamming where
[12:34] Speaker 3: you don't have to cook. I'm about to go match
[12:37] Speaker 3: these potatoes. Happy things scamming to everybody. I hope you
[12:40] Speaker 3: have a safe and happy holiday.
[12:42] Speaker 2: Eat all the food, have so much fun with your
[12:45] Speaker 2: family or friends whoever you're with, Watch some good movies
[12:49] Speaker 2: TV and get cozy and eat it all. Take a nap,
[12:53] Speaker 2: I know, and take a walk. And that's what you
[12:56] Speaker 2: really mist See you. Thanks for listening, and follow us
