[0:01] Speaker 1: And That's what you Really missed with Jenna.
[0:04] Speaker 2: And Kevin An iHeartRadio podcast.
[0:08] Speaker 1: Welcome to you, and That's what you Really miss podcast.
[0:11] Speaker 2: Good Morning Cavins Special Good morning to you Jenna again
[0:15] Speaker 2: at six am.
[0:16] Speaker 1: You know, our spedules are really knocking right now, and
[0:21] Speaker 1: this is the quietest and most time I have is
[0:24] Speaker 1: before anybody's awake.
[0:25] Speaker 2: So I don't want anyone to ever doubt our dedication
[0:28] Speaker 2: to this podcast. We will find a way to make
[0:33] Speaker 2: it work. I'm still in the dark, and I keep
[0:36] Speaker 2: still in the dark. You're still a great which is infuriating.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Do you have makeup on or anything? No, you just
[0:43] Speaker 2: look like that. Okay, wow, No, to be.
[0:45] Speaker 1: Fair, I have like brows that have been tattooed on
[0:48] Speaker 1: my face, and I have wash extensions which I keep up.
[0:52] Speaker 2: It's not just the browser lashes. Okay.
[0:57] Speaker 1: Well, you know what I need you around all the time,
[0:59] Speaker 1: as this is my fortieth year around the Sun. I
[1:02] Speaker 1: need you to like continue to remind me that I
[1:05] Speaker 1: can be young and fresh, that.
[1:07] Speaker 2: You're hot, because I'm over here looking like I got punched,
[1:13] Speaker 2: like I was binge drinking all night and I wasn't.
[1:17] Speaker 1: Now we know you weren't because you are just in shows.
[1:21] Speaker 1: By the way, I saw that you saw the Wild
[1:23] Speaker 1: Party at sy City Center.
[1:25] Speaker 2: I saw it last night.
[1:26] Speaker 1: So Jasmine Amy Rogers, who is your guys is Olive,
[1:30] Speaker 1: who's amazing. And then Adrian Warren, Tony Namini, who I
[1:36] Speaker 1: a friend of mine who I went to college with. Wait, really,
[1:39] Speaker 1: who did the Wild Party the Andrew Lippa version in
[1:44] Speaker 1: college when I was there?
[1:47] Speaker 2: No way?
[1:50] Speaker 1: And she she's amazing. She was always such a star
[1:55] Speaker 1: at our school. And so you went and saw the
[2:00] Speaker 1: Cusa version. Muchel, he's a He also did Hello again. Anyway,
[2:05] Speaker 1: how was the show? I imagine amazing?
[2:09] Speaker 2: It was so good. The thing is okay For those
[2:11] Speaker 2: of you who don't know, New York City Center puts
[2:14] Speaker 2: on several shows a year where they like revive shows
[2:18] Speaker 2: for two weeks only they rehearse for two weeks and
[2:22] Speaker 2: they I think it went from you know, people used
[2:25] Speaker 2: to have like scripts on stage and things like that.
[2:29] Speaker 2: Last night what I saw I was a full of
[2:31] Speaker 2: over was a full full production, like not a script
[2:37] Speaker 2: on stage and there was a full ass beautiful set
[2:44] Speaker 2: like it was just.
[2:45] Speaker 1: It's like doing like like a summer stock of some sort.
[2:50] Speaker 1: It's not it's not as you know what a summer
[2:52] Speaker 1: stock is, right, like, so like it's doing like a
[2:54] Speaker 1: summer stock of sorts, where like you put on five
[2:58] Speaker 1: shows a summer and you learn them all and while
[3:01] Speaker 1: you're doing, you know, performing one show at night, you're
[3:04] Speaker 1: rehearsing the next show that's gonna go up during the day.
[3:08] Speaker 1: And it's like these people they just like everybody's just
[3:11] Speaker 1: like machines these days. It's really crazy.
[3:14] Speaker 2: Well, Jasmine was still doing spelling Beam.
[3:16] Speaker 1: Oh she is, she was, Oh she watched until the
[3:20] Speaker 1: performances started, right, yes, but she she.
[3:25] Speaker 2: Well, yeah, when they started rehearsals, she'd you know, come
[3:28] Speaker 2: in in the evening for a spelling beat or like
[3:30] Speaker 2: how is it? She's like, oh, they got us dancing,
[3:34] Speaker 2: or it was like one or two things like oh
[3:36] Speaker 2: they got to dancing, or like I'm singing, like down
[3:39] Speaker 2: here for it, and so I just all it is
[3:42] Speaker 2: really high for her.
[3:43] Speaker 1: She has different places in her.
[3:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's sort of all she would say, right, okay,
[3:48] Speaker 2: fair enough, and then m M. I was like, Jasmine,
[3:56] Speaker 2: why did you come to work at all? After seeing
[3:59] Speaker 2: what she did, I was yelling at her in the lobby.
[4:02] Speaker 2: I was like, what is wrong with you? Why were
[4:04] Speaker 2: you not calling out of this show? More? Because Jenna,
[4:09] Speaker 2: she dances so much, She is singing so much. She's dancing,
[4:15] Speaker 2: She does a full number by herself. Adrian shows up,
[4:20] Speaker 2: does a full duet. That's so you might have seen
[4:23] Speaker 2: online with her. Yeah, and she is the thing that
[4:27] Speaker 2: impresses me about Jasmine. I know I've talked about her before.
[4:32] Speaker 2: Obviously her work ethic, she's so talented, but she is
[4:35] Speaker 2: an actor. Her acting is unreal. Like I think you
[4:43] Speaker 2: think of musical theater people, I think automatically think of
[4:46] Speaker 2: singing in the voice.
[4:47] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[4:48] Speaker 2: Sure, and she has a voice, she has all of it.
[4:52] Speaker 2: But the thing is is like everything is motivated by
[4:56] Speaker 2: her by the acting, right, So like she never sai
[5:00] Speaker 2: like anybody else because she is so motivated by the acting.
[5:05] Speaker 2: And her voice is different too, but like everything, like
[5:10] Speaker 2: I was just so impressed. It's like a lot of
[5:11] Speaker 2: that show too, is like people getting up sort of
[5:14] Speaker 2: like smelling beat and having like their number when there's
[5:17] Speaker 2: always people watching. Yeah, and like the busyness of what
[5:22] Speaker 2: she's doing when she's not the focus of a scene
[5:25] Speaker 2: is also like unbelievable. It was everybody was so good.
[5:31] Speaker 2: I was sort of a shocked. I went and blind.
[5:33] Speaker 2: I avoided all the like press studios of them performing
[5:36] Speaker 2: in rehearsal and stuff. I'm just so proud of her.
[5:39] Speaker 2: I'm so proud of I don't know the rest of them.
[5:41] Speaker 2: So proud of them though, because like.
[5:45] Speaker 1: That's a big undertaking to take on for the City.
[5:48] Speaker 2: Center, the whole company. I mean, like the direction of
[5:50] Speaker 2: that show I think was phenomenal. The lighting was phenomenal.
[5:53] Speaker 2: They had a beautiful like orchestra on top of the stage.
[5:58] Speaker 2: You could see the entire thing of sitting ont tie
[6:00] Speaker 2: with the set and all like tuxedos, Like it was
[6:03] Speaker 2: just wow. It was really really wonderful. Can't say enough
[6:06] Speaker 2: about it. Like Johnny was great.
[6:10] Speaker 1: Tiny pinkins that it was stacked, what a guess stacked.
[6:18] Speaker 1: Speaking of stacked, Heather Morris is joining the Glee crew
[6:23] Speaker 1: on the New York stage, and it was just announced
[6:27] Speaker 1: that she is joining eleven to Midnight off Broadway, which
[6:30] Speaker 1: is Costin Meyer's new you know dance show, which looks
[6:33] Speaker 1: very cool. Uh, you have another show you have to
[6:36] Speaker 1: go see, Kevin. Yeah, And she's running just a short
[6:40] Speaker 1: a short run from April ninth through May eleventh at
[6:43] Speaker 1: the Orphum. So this is very exciting another another member,
[6:49] Speaker 1: and exciting for Heather. I talked to her yesterday and
[6:52] Speaker 1: she said this is her first, like off Broadway, this
[6:55] Speaker 1: is her off Broadway debut. Yes, and she's like so
[6:59] Speaker 1: she's like, I'm not I just like we're not young anymore.
[7:03] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, girl, I know, but you're gonna
[7:05] Speaker 1: You're gonna be fine. I would kill to see this
[7:09] Speaker 1: girl dance again, like live, there's nothing better. I mean,
[7:14] Speaker 1: we have said this before. You I think you were
[7:16] Speaker 1: the one who comment your this whole thing. Like Heather
[7:18] Speaker 1: is one of the most incredible dancers and one of
[7:20] Speaker 1: the most exciting people to watch period and like when
[7:25] Speaker 1: I go back and watch Glee now, like I just
[7:29] Speaker 1: watch her dance because she's so good. So this is
[7:32] Speaker 1: very exciting. Congratulations to our HEMO and I can't wait.
[7:38] Speaker 2: And if you're in the city the next month or
[7:41] Speaker 2: from April to May and when she's in go see it.
[7:44] Speaker 2: It truly is. Even if you're not familiar with dances,
[7:48] Speaker 2: you've never been to a dance show one, dance shows
[7:51] Speaker 2: are incredible. My favorite Heather.
[7:55] Speaker 1: No, truly, it's it's a marvel.
[7:57] Speaker 2: It's really Yeah, I don't know how she does that.
[8:00] Speaker 2: There's something about her presence. It's just how Michael Jackson
[8:04] Speaker 2: or fiance can control a stage, you know, with their
[8:07] Speaker 2: singing and all the Heather Morris doesn't need to speak,
[8:11] Speaker 2: doesn't need we're saying or anything. The power of her
[8:15] Speaker 2: dance is unlike anything I've ever seen. And I cannot
[8:21] Speaker 2: wait to go see her. We've already planned, like when
[8:23] Speaker 2: we're going to like hang out. Oh, she call me
[8:27] Speaker 2: because we do have the same day off, which is great. Great.
[8:33] Speaker 1: I'm so happy, jealousy to see Heather. Yeah, it's been
[8:37] Speaker 1: a year since I've seen Heather, so that's crazy. We
[8:41] Speaker 1: also announced that she's leaving Chess. Yes, yeah, it doesn't.
[8:47] Speaker 1: I mean obviously like shows her hard and motherhood is hard.
[8:52] Speaker 1: So like her final show will be June twenty first,
[8:57] Speaker 1: and uh, you better run people.
[9:01] Speaker 2: I know me included. Oh, I'm already planning, I know,
[9:06] Speaker 2: don't worry. Graff is done with just in time.
[9:09] Speaker 1: That's right. Matt Morrison goes in and then before Jeremy Jordan. Right,
[9:12] Speaker 1: Matt Morrison's uh uh run is short about right. I'm
[9:20] Speaker 1: sure this is nice though, because now he knows the show,
[9:23] Speaker 1: so like if somebody else after Jeremy goes away, like
[9:25] Speaker 1: you know, Jeremy leaves, Matt pops in again. Like it's so,
[9:29] Speaker 1: it's so easy.
[9:31] Speaker 2: It's the perfect show for him. It is. It is
[9:35] Speaker 2: Morrison in a show.
[9:38] Speaker 1: Oh, Kevin, I wanted to talk to you about Paradise.
[9:43] Speaker 1: Oh yes, so I finally we finally for the last Like,
[9:48] Speaker 1: I don't know when the last time we talked about
[9:50] Speaker 1: this on the show on our podcast was. But it's
[9:53] Speaker 1: been that long since it's taken me to get through anything.
[9:56] Speaker 2: And it's not that long, Jennet, it's only even a
[9:57] Speaker 2: couple of weeks.
[9:58] Speaker 1: Okay, okay, okay, that makes you feel a litt better.
[10:00] Speaker 1: But we started it. Episode one is so interesting and
[10:06] Speaker 1: so different than season one. I loved it. I was
[10:14] Speaker 1: into it. Episode two, I was like, no, don't take
[10:17] Speaker 1: me out, And it took me like multiple goals to
[10:20] Speaker 1: watch episode two. We crossed the rubicon. We are caught
[10:24] Speaker 1: up now?
[10:25] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[10:26] Speaker 1: Excellent. Yeah, let me tell you when we watched the show.
[10:30] Speaker 1: We watched season one when it first aired, and I
[10:32] Speaker 1: was like, y'all are missing out if you're not watching
[10:34] Speaker 1: the show. Sheila and k brown Man and the rest
[10:36] Speaker 1: of that cast, and it's so well written and so
[10:39] Speaker 1: interesting and so different and original and like fun. And
[10:42] Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, I'm into it. It's just refreshing
[10:46] Speaker 1: to have like new shows out right now that like
[10:48] Speaker 1: aren't remakes or revivals or things that like just anyway,
[10:54] Speaker 1: Season two is even better.
[10:55] Speaker 2: I think season two the way they've been. I have
[11:00] Speaker 2: a hard time sometimes with shows that are constantly doing
[11:03] Speaker 2: flashbacks because like I want the current timeline story to
[11:08] Speaker 2: be moving more.
[11:09] Speaker 1: Got it?
[11:10] Speaker 2: However, like Shalean Woodley, okay, maybe has never been better.
[11:16] Speaker 1: Okay, first of all, I'm like, wow, everybody, movie stars
[11:20] Speaker 1: are doing TV shows again, but like no, no, nope.
[11:24] Speaker 1: But then I was like, oh, okay, I got it now.
[11:27] Speaker 1: I don't want to spoiler. I don't want any spoiler
[11:29] Speaker 1: alerts for anybody. Year. But never been better Kevin I
[11:34] Speaker 1: was emotionally not okay, it was She's excellent and the
[11:41] Speaker 1: way that they placed her in Graceland was so interesting
[11:45] Speaker 1: and and and then like also, what are these music
[11:48] Speaker 1: references like with Sinatra and Elvis, Like what is that?
[11:52] Speaker 1: That is so cool? Anyway, I'm just I'm waiting for it.
[11:55] Speaker 2: But I think Shalen's performance on that show and that
[11:58] Speaker 2: character and how it was written, that whole storyline, Yes, yes,
[12:01] Speaker 2: which I think is the season is the season two premiere? Yes,
[12:06] Speaker 2: and like episode two and is like maybe one of
[12:11] Speaker 2: the best things I've seen in TV in years.
[12:13] Speaker 1: Agreed, like totally.
[12:15] Speaker 2: I was just like, oh, what is like I'm seeing
[12:19] Speaker 2: a whole episode without like people that I've gotten attached
[12:22] Speaker 2: to from the season before, and I'm inter.
[12:24] Speaker 1: It I know, and it's like full arcs happening, like
[12:29] Speaker 1: a mini movie. Like yeah, so good.
[12:32] Speaker 2: And I do like, like, like you said, the cast
[12:34] Speaker 2: is so good. Everybody is so good that they can
[12:37] Speaker 2: write these episodes and do full backstories on these characters
[12:42] Speaker 2: and fill them in and then everybody is It's.
[12:46] Speaker 1: It's giving, like did you ever did you watch Walking Dead?
[12:50] Speaker 2: No? I still need to watch Walking Dead. I'm going
[12:53] Speaker 2: to that's still on the list.
[12:54] Speaker 1: Okay, uh first few seasons were just out of this
[12:59] Speaker 1: world and I kind of fell off a little bit.
[13:02] Speaker 1: But it's giving. Walking Dead there's like these different pods
[13:07] Speaker 1: of people and they're interconnected sometimes, but like it doesn't
[13:10] Speaker 1: really matter that characters are so clear and the driver
[13:15] Speaker 1: is so clear, the engine is so clear that like
[13:17] Speaker 1: it doesn't matter, you're just like in it very anyway,
[13:23] Speaker 1: if you haven't watched Paradise, very exciting.
[13:26] Speaker 2: Oh man, Paradise is so good. Like I also just
[13:29] Speaker 2: love seeing how good everybody is. Like obviously we know
[13:33] Speaker 2: Sterling K. Brown is good, right, we know, like the
[13:37] Speaker 2: heavy hitter James Martin is so good. Like when you
[13:40] Speaker 2: see these actors that are not as well known, yeah,
[13:43] Speaker 2: and you get full episodes, yeah, and they are meeting
[13:47] Speaker 2: the moment and they're just so excellent.
[13:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. It's it's pretty crazy, pretty crazy. Nicole
[13:55] Speaker 1: Bridon Bloom Thomas already, who's new? Who is the like.
[14:03] Speaker 2: The oh Tom story? Have you seen him before?
[14:06] Speaker 1: No?
[14:07] Speaker 2: Oh he was in the reboot of Gossip Girl. He just.
[14:12] Speaker 1: Okay, yes, well I'm like I discovered him.
[14:16] Speaker 2: Yep. Excellent. It's never too late, Yeah, excellent, like so
[14:20] Speaker 2: charming and so different from like anything I've seen him in.
[14:23] Speaker 1: Cast Go casting.
[14:32] Speaker 2: I went to the Project Hill Mary premiere last week.
[14:35] Speaker 1: Okay, first of all, you were in was that at
[14:38] Speaker 1: Lincoln Center?
[14:39] Speaker 2: Yes?
[14:40] Speaker 1: So jealous? Like okay, tell me.
[14:44] Speaker 2: And I ran into Nina do rev Oh, I haven't
[14:49] Speaker 2: seen years. It was so nice. I ran into a
[14:52] Speaker 2: bunch of people. Wow. I'm also like a sci fi nerd.
[14:57] Speaker 2: I read a lot of sci fi. I watch a
[15:00] Speaker 2: lot of sci fi. I read this book years ago,
[15:02] Speaker 2: Project Hill Mary Okay, and so I was very excited.
[15:05] Speaker 2: I went to the premiere. I was standing next to
[15:08] Speaker 2: Neil deGrasse Tyson. Oh my god, it was freaking out.
[15:11] Speaker 2: I saw Nikki on the red carpet.
[15:13] Speaker 1: No.
[15:14] Speaker 2: I walk up the red carpet and the first person
[15:16] Speaker 2: I see is I just shout Niki.
[15:20] Speaker 1: Nikki's Amber's publicist and like best friend, sister, like and
[15:24] Speaker 1: she traveled all around the world with us, and he
[15:27] Speaker 1: was just a bulldog. She would she would take care
[15:31] Speaker 1: of us. She would look after all of us like
[15:33] Speaker 1: we were her children. I think she would say, even
[15:34] Speaker 1: though she's our age. But it's like, I know, it's
[15:38] Speaker 1: like these two different worlds, Kevin, that like come together sometimes.
[15:42] Speaker 1: But like you're doing theater and you're doing Broadway, which
[15:45] Speaker 1: is like one whole community and family, and then you
[15:47] Speaker 1: go to these like red carpets and you're like transported
[15:50] Speaker 1: back into like a different world that you're like, oh,
[15:54] Speaker 1: I'm back in glee time, you know, and like totally
[15:58] Speaker 1: that was wild.
[15:59] Speaker 2: I walked up to her and the first thing she
[16:01] Speaker 2: says to me is like, don't you have a show tonight. I,
[16:04] Speaker 2: first of all, you're off the clock. Yes, I am
[16:07] Speaker 2: out of the show tonight, literally to go see this movie.
[16:13] Speaker 2: That's how big of a deal it was to me.
[16:15] Speaker 2: I do not like to miss the show. And I
[16:18] Speaker 2: didn't call out unprofessionally. I did a fake being sick.
[16:21] Speaker 2: I got it approved, got our bosses, and I talked
[16:26] Speaker 2: about spelling be on the red carpet. So it's fine,
[16:28] Speaker 2: it's great.
[16:29] Speaker 1: Did your job for the night.
[16:30] Speaker 2: Yeah, And my sister came with me and we saw it.
[16:33] Speaker 2: There were so many cool people there. I was just
[16:38] Speaker 2: like Greta Gerwig was there. Well, tell me about the movie.
[16:40] Speaker 1: Was it good?
[16:41] Speaker 2: Jenna? It's going to be your new comfort movie.
[16:47] Speaker 1: I knew it. I can't wait. I just said, I
[16:51] Speaker 1: know what I think. I'm going to see this one.
[16:53] Speaker 2: You need to go see it, and if you can,
[16:56] Speaker 2: you may have to wait a few weeks. Go see
[16:58] Speaker 2: in imax.
[16:59] Speaker 1: Okay, I can do.
[17:01] Speaker 2: It is and here's the thing. I want it for
[17:03] Speaker 2: people who have not seen are people who have seen it.
[17:05] Speaker 2: And we've talked about Award show behavior not every movie
[17:10] Speaker 2: because it's already come out and like start, you know,
[17:12] Speaker 2: start making this for Oscars and blah blah blah blah,
[17:15] Speaker 2: and people are like, what is this? This is just
[17:18] Speaker 2: like a feel good movie. Yes, not every movie has to.
[17:22] Speaker 1: Be life changing. We you know what, we need this
[17:25] Speaker 1: right now. Everything right now is hard.
[17:27] Speaker 2: And this reminds me of and I mean this in
[17:30] Speaker 2: the most complimentary way possible, of excellent movies we saw
[17:34] Speaker 2: in the nineties that did not have to be, not
[17:39] Speaker 2: have to win Best Picture, to be like a staple
[17:42] Speaker 2: of live and also this movie. And that's also not
[17:45] Speaker 2: to take away from the incredible filmmaking, the craft of
[17:49] Speaker 2: filmmaking of this movie. Okay, it is so well made,
[17:54] Speaker 2: like on every single level. You also have like the
[17:57] Speaker 2: best DP in the entire world who did all the
[18:00] Speaker 2: Dune movies, the first two, Greg Frasier, is like literally
[18:05] Speaker 2: changing the entire movie industry. He is undefeated. But it's
[18:11] Speaker 2: I can't say enough about it. Ryan Gosling got rights
[18:15] Speaker 2: to the manuscript years ago, and so he's the one
[18:18] Speaker 2: that championed this. Wow, he put this whole package together.
[18:23] Speaker 2: And if you know me, you know I love Sondra Huler,
[18:26] Speaker 2: who was in the star Anatomy of a Fall and
[18:31] Speaker 2: of Interest, Like, she can do no wrong. She she's back,
[18:36] Speaker 2: She's unbelievable in like an American blockbuster movie. This movie
[18:40] Speaker 2: is just excellent. It just is like, just go have
[18:44] Speaker 2: a good time.
[18:45] Speaker 1: That's all about why can't we just like have a
[18:48] Speaker 1: good time and not like so hard on everything? Right now?
[18:51] Speaker 1: I think this is this is your campaign for that. Yeah,
[18:55] Speaker 1: I want you to go see it so badly. Okay
[18:58] Speaker 1: I will. When is it out?
[19:00] Speaker 2: It's out? Oh, it broke Jenna. It came out last weekend.
[19:04] Speaker 2: It broke every record under the sun. Because it's it's
[19:09] Speaker 2: not a sequel. It's obviously it's based off of I
[19:13] Speaker 2: p like of a big book. But yeah, it has
[19:17] Speaker 2: broken all these records for like, yes, absolutely that it
[19:24] Speaker 2: has got a budget movie. It's I was just sitting
[19:30] Speaker 2: there at some point and there was an image on
[19:34] Speaker 2: the screen and I won't give it. I don't want
[19:36] Speaker 2: to give anything away, but there's an image on the screen.
[19:38] Speaker 2: I was like, this is so beautiful to look at
[19:44] Speaker 2: a film. It's like I've now read all these things.
[19:47] Speaker 2: I think because Greg Fraser has become so big famous,
[19:51] Speaker 2: and like, this movie is stunning to look at. Also
[19:53] Speaker 2: there's no green screen. This is practical and cg. But
[19:58] Speaker 2: they're like if they said they could be acting against.
[20:01] Speaker 1: Oh I love it. Okay, I'm definitely gonna see this.
[20:04] Speaker 1: Don't no doubt, no doubt. Okay, I'm not gonna see.
[20:06] Speaker 1: I'm not gonna get I'm gonna and I'm gonna go in.
[20:09] Speaker 1: Just we're knowing nothing. We're gonna go and we're okay, okay,
