[0:22] Speaker 2: season of series.
[0:24] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Nelly, slow down. Okay. I know I don't
[0:29] Speaker 1: know what to do with myself, but this is a
[0:30] Speaker 1: funny episode. This is What the World Needs Now is
[0:34] Speaker 1: this season six, episode six, and it aired on February sixth.
[0:40] Speaker 2: Six six six. Jenna, you know what that means.
[0:44] Speaker 1: It's gonna be a good episode. Let's get into it.
[0:51] Speaker 2: In the news this week, the number one song is
[0:55] Speaker 2: and Forever will be for the rest of Glee, I
[0:57] Speaker 2: predict is a town funk.
[1:00] Speaker 1: Think You're right? And the movie is a new number
[1:02] Speaker 1: one movie. It's SpongeBob movie, sponge out of Water. Also
[1:08] Speaker 1: never saw a SpongeBob movie.
[1:11] Speaker 2: Well, I don't think you need to.
[1:12] Speaker 1: They're good, but SpongeBob on Broadway. I did too, Even Slatery.
[1:20] Speaker 2: Glee News this Week. On February third, Glee the music
[1:23] Speaker 2: What the World Needs Now is Love EP was released
[1:27] Speaker 2: featured eight tracks from the episode and was released for
[1:30] Speaker 2: digital download. A physical CD was later released exclusively in
[1:33] Speaker 2: Japan in June twenty fifteen.
[1:36] Speaker 1: You know they love their media. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And honestly,
[1:41] Speaker 1: I feel like you would like track down one of
[1:43] Speaker 1: those CDs to have.
[1:45] Speaker 2: I would like to see it. I'm gonna have to
[1:47] Speaker 2: google after this.
[1:49] Speaker 1: Okay.
[1:49] Speaker 2: So this episode was directed by Barbara Brown, who also
[1:52] Speaker 2: directed the last episodes. Are script coordinator Babs Jennas That's
[1:59] Speaker 2: that's crazy.
[2:00] Speaker 1: Well, very few people will do that. So Brad Baker
[2:02] Speaker 1: has done that. Eric Stults has done that, and now
[2:05] Speaker 1: we're talking about Barbara Brown, Babs the one and only
[2:10] Speaker 1: the legend.
[2:11] Speaker 2: That means four out of the six episodes so far
[2:13] Speaker 2: this season, we're done that way, back to back. Yes,
[2:17] Speaker 2: that is intense, but it makes sense. It makes sense though,
[2:21] Speaker 2: that you have someone who knows the show that well
[2:25] Speaker 2: that you.
[2:25] Speaker 1: Can just like do that plug in. It's hard, but
[2:27] Speaker 1: it's you plug in. Okay, Yes, whoa.
[2:30] Speaker 2: We have some big guest stars this week. We have
[2:32] Speaker 2: Kim Jung.
[2:33] Speaker 1: And Jennifer Good as Brittany's mom and dad. Now we're
[2:40] Speaker 1: on to the Burt backrack of it all. We've got
[2:43] Speaker 1: I'll Never Fall in Love Again, and this was performing
[2:45] Speaker 1: Rachel and Sam.
[2:47] Speaker 2: We Have Baby, It's You performed by Mercedes Britney, Rachel
[2:51] Speaker 2: and Santana and.
[2:52] Speaker 1: Now obviously he wrote all of these songs. This is Crazy, Okay, Wishin'

[3:02] Speaker 2: Arthur's Theme performed by the Alumni Men and the New

[3:24] Speaker 1: I'm putting that on my Safari NA.
[3:28] Speaker 2: On YouTube. No, I don't care if you don't know
[3:33] Speaker 2: this song, those of you who are listening, if you
[3:36] Speaker 2: don't like Burke backrack. It is one of the greatest
[3:41] Speaker 2: performances I have ever seen in my entire.
[3:44] Speaker 1: Oh my god, I have to watch this. Okay, It's
[3:47] Speaker 1: on my Safari. It's ready to go.
[3:49] Speaker 2: Cynthia Alfie, you can pause this. Everyone watch that and
[3:55] Speaker 2: then come back.
[3:56] Speaker 1: I'll get there. We'll talk about it next week.
[3:58] Speaker 2: What the World Needs Now, performed by the Alumni and
[4:02] Speaker 2: will with the new directions.
[4:04] Speaker 1: Okay, So this episode is watched by one point five
[4:08] Speaker 1: seven million viewers, making it the lowest watched episode of
[4:12] Speaker 1: the series.
[4:14] Speaker 2: So I heard a rumor this is not officially part
[4:17] Speaker 2: of the fun facts that oh why don't get in trouble? Okay,
[4:23] Speaker 2: but the debate for this episode was whether it was
[4:26] Speaker 2: going to be a b Backgrack episode or an Elton
[4:28] Speaker 2: John episode. What that is a rumor? I can either
[4:34] Speaker 2: confirm nor deny, but you know, so there's that interesting. Yeah.
[4:45] Speaker 2: This is the eleventh episode named after a song sung
[4:47] Speaker 2: in it the others being Home dream on silly love Songs.
[4:51] Speaker 2: Blame it on the alcohol Born this way, I kised
[4:53] Speaker 2: Girl Extraordinary, Merry Christmas, Diva all or Nothing and moving
[4:56] Speaker 2: out breath Jenna.
[4:58] Speaker 1: Whoa getting that b the control broatsu of work going
[5:01] Speaker 1: for your shows. This episode contains the show's seven hundredth
[5:05] Speaker 1: musical performance What the World needs Now? I like that.
[5:09] Speaker 2: That's a seven hundredth performance.
[5:11] Speaker 1: That feels nice.
[5:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay. This is the first episode of season six
[5:15] Speaker 2: in which Rachel sings a duet, a solo, and has
[5:17] Speaker 2: a solo and a group number. The last episode that
[5:20] Speaker 2: happened was New New York and season five a twelve
[5:23] Speaker 2: episode gap.
[5:25] Speaker 1: The Thing Gave Me Said? For Sam, Who's sang a solo,
[5:27] Speaker 1: a duet with Rachel, and a solo and a group
[5:29] Speaker 1: number and his last episode where he this occurred for
[5:31] Speaker 1: him was in Guilty Pleasures in season four a thirty
[5:34] Speaker 1: one episode gap.
[5:35] Speaker 2: This episode features Santana's first solo since Frenemies and first
[5:39] Speaker 2: solo of season six.
[5:40] Speaker 1: Oh Wow. This episode marks the last time we see
[5:43] Speaker 1: Britney's talk show Oh Fondue for too arip.
[5:47] Speaker 2: This is also Santana's and Sam's final solos in the series.
[5:52] Speaker 1: That is momentous.
[5:54] Speaker 2: Don't like it?
[5:56] Speaker 1: No, I'm not here for that. This also marks the
[5:58] Speaker 1: last appearance of Britney's cat Lord Tumington, as well as
[6:03] Speaker 1: Lady Tummington.
[6:04] Speaker 2: This is the first time Will sings this season.
[6:08] Speaker 1: Whoa. These are blowing my mind. This is the last
[6:12] Speaker 1: tribute episode of the series.
[6:15] Speaker 2: Strange. This is the last episode to show Already out
[6:19] Speaker 2: of his wheelchair.
[6:20] Speaker 1: For Ah that happened? Yeah, We're gonna talk about that.
[6:23] Speaker 1: With eight songs, this episode is the most released songs
[6:27] Speaker 1: this season.
[6:28] Speaker 2: Well Bert deserves it. Yeah, Kurt and Mercedes clothes during
[6:33] Speaker 2: What the World Needs Now are the ones they wore
[6:35] Speaker 2: in the Glee season six photo shoot. Blaine wears his
[6:39] Speaker 2: and Will and Emma's apartment. Okay. Episode summary, Brittany and
[6:51] Speaker 2: Santana have some family convincing to do that's a crazy sentence. Meanwhile,
[6:55] Speaker 2: during a Burt Backrack tribute week, Mercedes returns to Ohio
[6:59] Speaker 2: to convince Rachel to sue her Broadway dreams. Yes, this
[7:03] Speaker 2: is what I needed, this is what I wanted. Last
[7:05] Speaker 2: week you won.
[7:06] Speaker 1: Okay, I didn't know that we did a backac episode.
[7:10] Speaker 2: I did, but I had never seen it.
[7:12] Speaker 1: Right, And last week we mentioned that, like you're back,
[7:16] Speaker 1: and you're like, I am. Do you know this?
[7:19] Speaker 2: So this is the first episode in which I truly
[7:26] Speaker 2: have no memory of doing anything in this episode except
[7:31] Speaker 2: the rehearsal.
[7:33] Speaker 1: In shooting Dance of Your Dance.
[7:35] Speaker 2: No, No, I didn't even remember getting up. I just
[7:38] Speaker 2: remember seeing everybody in their costumes. That's all every scene
[7:46] Speaker 2: I mean I have. It's really terrifying. I remember not
[7:54] Speaker 2: like you know, it's happened a little bit here and there,
[7:55] Speaker 2: Like I remember the scene, not a one. And I'm
[8:00] Speaker 2: in this episode where.
[8:02] Speaker 1: A fever dream for you clearly area.
[8:06] Speaker 2: It's so disturbing. I don't remember being the wedding planner,
[8:10] Speaker 2: like what.
[8:13] Speaker 1: I always I think, like I usually remember my storylines,
[8:16] Speaker 1: probably because I didn't have that many, so like I
[8:18] Speaker 1: just I think, like I remember all the things that
[8:22] Speaker 1: I do. But like that's funny, that's.
[8:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have a lot of storyline either, and
[8:28] Speaker 2: I should remember this.
[8:29] Speaker 1: You have more storyline than did.
[8:32] Speaker 2: I do. Like, well, we'll get to me, but yeah,
[8:35] Speaker 2: I don't. I don't really Well, let's talk about it,
[8:38] Speaker 2: so no disturbing.
[8:40] Speaker 1: Let's start with the the Rachel of it all. So
[8:44] Speaker 1: they obviously win at invitationals because of their devious plan
[8:51] Speaker 1: to click into s U's emotional folder locked folder uh
[8:57] Speaker 1: and Kurt and Rachel are planning for a backrock week
[9:02] Speaker 1: for sectionals and Miss Mercedes Jones is back hooray?
[9:09] Speaker 2: Why is already there in the corner? Like why is Arnie?
[9:12] Speaker 1: Literally? But it's funny because the alumni just like show
[9:14] Speaker 1: up and they pan to the to the choir room
[9:16] Speaker 1: and there's like magically like half of like the alums
[9:20] Speaker 1: just there. I'm like, what are they doing? And like,
[9:24] Speaker 1: do I also appreciate Kitty was a kiddy who was like,
[9:27] Speaker 1: you didn't have anything to do anyway, because like, what
[9:32] Speaker 1: are you guys doing? Aren't you in school?
[9:36] Speaker 2: Are you?
[9:36] Speaker 1: Like? I don't know, is it spring break?
[9:39] Speaker 2: Sure? Whatever you wanted to be.
[9:41] Speaker 1: It was like, what is happening there? But anyway, it's
[9:45] Speaker 1: funny and I like it. Mercedes is back.
[9:50] Speaker 2: And that's the moral of the story. We need Mercedes back.
[9:53] Speaker 1: Mercedes is here and her and Rachel are gonna have
[10:00] Speaker 1: this huge, like very sweet story arc, which I really
[10:04] Speaker 1: some of it was like I was very freaked out
[10:07] Speaker 1: about and I'll like, I'll tell you why, and some
[10:10] Speaker 1: of it I thought was really great. It's it's not.
[10:12] Speaker 1: It doesn't feel like in character for Mercedes to be
[10:16] Speaker 1: so gung ho about getting Rachel back on board to
[10:19] Speaker 1: go to New York. I don't know why that felt
[10:22] Speaker 1: strange to me.
[10:23] Speaker 2: I think you're wrong.
[10:24] Speaker 1: Look, I could be wrong.
[10:26] Speaker 2: I'm wrong.
[10:28] Speaker 1: I I just feel I feel.
[10:32] Speaker 2: Okay, this is a safe space, but share.
[10:36] Speaker 1: Okay, fine, I feel that it's not. It just felt
[10:41] Speaker 1: a little off the cuff for me, like it didn't
[10:44] Speaker 1: feel in line with like what we've been seeing from
[10:47] Speaker 1: Mercedes lately, not that she's like she's a good person
[10:51] Speaker 1: like that. I'm not saying that. I just felt like,
[10:53] Speaker 1: out of nowhere, she's like making it her life's business,
[10:57] Speaker 1: like make get Rachel back home. Like that feels like
[10:59] Speaker 1: a Kurt thing to me, not a Mercedes thing anyway.
[11:05] Speaker 1: I the thing that got me more that like I
[11:09] Speaker 1: was just weirded out about was like them talking so
[11:13] Speaker 1: nonchalantly in the first half of the episode about like
[11:17] Speaker 1: Rachel and Sam getting together, like getting back out there
[11:21] Speaker 1: and being like, I obviously it's Rachel, Like yes, they
[11:26] Speaker 1: do say along the way, which we we'll get to
[11:29] Speaker 1: like the you know, I'm a little bit jealous and
[11:36] Speaker 1: that's a good thing, and you know they're they're really
[11:38] Speaker 1: reaching like a friend zone where they care about each other.
[11:41] Speaker 1: But it just felt like we're still people, still have
[11:47] Speaker 1: these feelings and it was so fresh, like this wasn't
[11:50] Speaker 1: them that long ago, and for her to be like
[11:53] Speaker 1: buying for Rachel to go to New York and like
[11:56] Speaker 1: live or dreams and feeling like take the boyfriend that
[11:59] Speaker 1: I I loved so deeply, but like we just didn't
[12:02] Speaker 1: align on our values, so like it wasn't even that
[12:04] Speaker 1: they didn't care about each other, and it ended badly.
[12:07] Speaker 1: They just like their values didn't align. So I would
[12:08] Speaker 1: imagine that would be even harder to see them move
[12:11] Speaker 1: on to somebody else, because it's like there was nothing
[12:14] Speaker 1: that was really like wrong within the relationship. It was
[12:17] Speaker 1: just like the core values of which like they were
[12:20] Speaker 1: not aligned, and so it just felt off to me.
[12:26] Speaker 1: I didn't fullyeve it wrong. I didn't fully believe it.
[12:29] Speaker 1: I didn't believe it. Now. Do I love this whole?
[12:32] Speaker 1: Like seeing everybody together? Do I like the trio? Do
[12:35] Speaker 1: I like Sam and Rachel and Rachel and Mercedes and
[12:39] Speaker 1: Mercedes and Sam? Yes, I do. I enjoyed watching it.
[12:42] Speaker 1: It was just the actual storyline that I felt wasn't exactly.
[12:49] Speaker 1: I wasn't like, oh I believe that.
[12:52] Speaker 2: No, I get it. I'm kidding. I'm not saying you're
[12:54] Speaker 2: actually wrong. I fully get it.
[12:57] Speaker 1: And their performances were great. I just it just was
[12:59] Speaker 1: like a little weird to me.
[13:01] Speaker 2: My counterpoint to this, Okay, go for it, go for it,
[13:05] Speaker 2: is that if you are Mercedes, you know, we've skipped
[13:09] Speaker 2: time a little bit here, and she's been on tour,
[13:12] Speaker 2: she's enjoying success, she has started dating other people. She's
[13:16] Speaker 2: found somebody that aligns with her values, which is a
[13:21] Speaker 2: foundational issue. Like I know there was no emotional issues
[13:26] Speaker 2: with their relationship, but ultimately there was like a huge yes, yes, yes, yes,
[13:34] Speaker 2: a great And I feel like when you are like
[13:39] Speaker 2: on the up and up and you're like feeling all
[13:41] Speaker 2: these positive vibes and everything is sort of you know,
[13:44] Speaker 2: going ultimately well, not saying mercedes life is perfect at
[13:48] Speaker 2: the moment, but like it's finally her career has taken off,
[13:51] Speaker 2: her love life is taken off. She's having fun, she's
[13:54] Speaker 2: feeling good. And when you're in that place, I think
[13:58] Speaker 2: it's easier for you to look around to those who
[14:03] Speaker 2: you love and who are closest to you and then
[14:05] Speaker 2: want the same for them. And I feel like I
[14:08] Speaker 2: feel like that's what it is where, you know, if
[14:11] Speaker 2: she was not in such a great place, it would
[14:12] Speaker 2: definitely be much harder for her to like encourage Rachel
[14:16] Speaker 2: and to encourage Sam to be together. But because she's
[14:21] Speaker 2: like she's fine, right, and sure it may sting a
[14:25] Speaker 2: little bit still, but it's like she's living her dreams.
[14:29] Speaker 2: And then yeah, in regards to Rachel, like she's Mercedes
[14:32] Speaker 2: is living her dreams and it's easy then to look
[14:36] Speaker 2: at Rachel and be like, oh, she needs to be
[14:39] Speaker 2: doing this. I know she's in a funk right now,
[14:41] Speaker 2: but when you are not in that funk, it's so
[14:43] Speaker 2: clear yeah to you. Yeah, to be like I got
[14:47] Speaker 2: to help her out.
[14:48] Speaker 1: I will say the Mercedes Rachel seeing Atia and where
[14:52] Speaker 1: Rachel's about to go off to her audition and like
[14:55] Speaker 1: that like vulnerable Rachel, and then also the Mercedes of
[14:58] Speaker 1: like just like support her. I did love Like It's
[15:02] Speaker 1: not that I didn't like this storyline, it just felt
[15:05] Speaker 1: a little like I was like, why is she so
[15:07] Speaker 1: gung ho?
[15:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, but the girls always step up, like I know,
[15:11] Speaker 2: you're right, they always doing it for themselves.
[15:15] Speaker 1: I love it, you know, I'm here for it. I
[15:17] Speaker 1: just I was just stating an observation, you know what.
[15:21] Speaker 2: You know. What made me like I feel some type
[15:27] Speaker 2: of way or it stuck out to me was when
[15:29] Speaker 2: Mercedes was performing her number for Rachel, but Rachel was
[15:32] Speaker 2: in the background. We never see Rachel doing that.
[15:36] Speaker 1: I know. I was going to stay like, we haven't
[15:38] Speaker 1: seen that and why I liked it, but we just
[15:40] Speaker 1: never see that, yeah for sure?
[15:42] Speaker 2: And and can we just have a couple moments for
[15:45] Speaker 2: the silence, for the.
[15:46] Speaker 1: Hair, for the hair, all of them.
[15:49] Speaker 2: Just for all those the beehive wigs.
[15:52] Speaker 1: It also did remind me of the number we did,
[15:55] Speaker 1: uh in the Dream Girl's number for Mercedes. I can't
[16:00] Speaker 1: remember the name of it, but when we were all
[16:02] Speaker 1: in the pink and we all had those pive hairs.
[16:05] Speaker 1: So anyway, yeah, let's have a moment of silence for that.
[16:09] Speaker 1: All right, Okay, all right, So Mercedes is gonna make
[16:17] Speaker 1: it her mission to get Rachel back to New York.
[16:21] Speaker 1: She's heard about this audition. She wants to make Rachel
[16:26] Speaker 1: nostalgic for New York, so of course she gets everybody
[16:29] Speaker 1: together to perform Arthur's theme where you all real cute
[16:34] Speaker 1: and the New York thing is real cute. It's I
[16:37] Speaker 1: liked it. I appreciate I thought that number was adorable.
[16:41] Speaker 1: I remember seeing pictures of that, like BTS pictures of
[16:44] Speaker 1: that for some reason and being like, I wonder what
[16:46] Speaker 1: they're doing.
[16:49] Speaker 2: Uh, yeah, it was really sweet, and I like there
[16:55] Speaker 2: again it started to sort of like not at me
[16:58] Speaker 2: a tiny bit when she's just like so dismissive of it.
[17:01] Speaker 2: But it's also like Mercedes here said no and you're
[17:04] Speaker 2: doing it again. It's like, no, this is hard. No,
[17:08] Speaker 2: but we get promises, promises after we get that scene
[17:16] Speaker 2: of her, like Leah crying, Oh lord.
[17:21] Speaker 1: I just I'm also it's not like a crying where
[17:24] Speaker 1: like she's it is the most vulnerable cry we've seen
[17:28] Speaker 1: for Rachel Rachel in quite a bit of time in
[17:30] Speaker 1: this in circumstance, and like, it was so cool. It's
[17:35] Speaker 1: so refreshing to see Rachel like that when she's scared,
[17:39] Speaker 1: because she's always so sure and she even said it
[17:41] Speaker 1: in her speech like I'm always like usually just going
[17:44] Speaker 1: to show everybody that they're wrong. But her feeling so
[17:48] Speaker 1: scared about it was like there's something so deeply vulnerable
[17:55] Speaker 1: that like plucked at the heart strings that you just
[17:58] Speaker 1: like then you're like, I want her her just sicksed
[18:01] Speaker 1: a thousand times over in this, you know what I mean,
[18:03] Speaker 1: You just want to watch her win, and like overcome.
[18:06] Speaker 2: That, you want to watch her win more than ever
[18:08] Speaker 2: because you know, it's like she's not she hasn't always
[18:11] Speaker 2: been the most likable character. And then she does ultimately
[18:14] Speaker 2: win really easily, right, and for her to have this
[18:18] Speaker 2: and it's a complicated thing. I think to explain to
[18:20] Speaker 2: people who are not in the entertainment business of that
[18:22] Speaker 2: type of success and then fall yes and then back
[18:26] Speaker 2: trying to rebuild yourself is a common thing that happens,
[18:30] Speaker 2: and it sounds so ungrateful and like, oh, Champagne problems.
[18:33] Speaker 2: You're trying to explain that process to people, But if yes,
[18:39] Speaker 2: And I think it's written so well and the reason
[18:41] Speaker 2: like how she is she writes off all those things
[18:44] Speaker 2: that Mercedes is doing for her so quickly because she
[18:46] Speaker 2: doesn't want to deal with it, and then it justifies
[18:49] Speaker 2: that emotional breakdown and Leah does. I mean, it's a
[18:53] Speaker 2: beautiful rush.
[18:54] Speaker 1: Crush and then in to promises promises, which is so
[18:57] Speaker 1: much fun and like oh that last note and also
[19:01] Speaker 1: like all the different locations sound.
[19:05] Speaker 2: I got, got those flashbacks got me?
[19:08] Speaker 1: Those were good. We never see Rachel flashbacks like that.
[19:10] Speaker 1: We usually are like used to seeing like either Finn
[19:13] Speaker 1: flashbacks like that right now, So like that was really
[19:15] Speaker 1: refreshing too. I really appreciated the editing and this and
[19:18] Speaker 1: like I just I thought it was really great and
[19:20] Speaker 1: I love that song just crushing at this episode really good.
[19:26] Speaker 1: And then also like we skipped over it, but we
[19:29] Speaker 1: out the gate. We were unlike her Locker, where we
[19:32] Speaker 1: were waiting for songs for a song twenty minutes into
[19:35] Speaker 1: the episode, this one was out the gate. I'll Never
[19:38] Speaker 1: fall in Love again with Sweet Sam and Rachel love
[19:42] Speaker 1: this song, love them on it. I thought this was
[19:45] Speaker 1: great for their voices. They sound so nice together.
[19:48] Speaker 2: And it's perfect for the storyline. Yes, it's like, I
[19:53] Speaker 2: don't know what came first, this storyline or trying to
[19:56] Speaker 2: get this, you know, trying to get this song. It
[19:58] Speaker 2: doesn't matter. It worked either way. And like having that
[20:03] Speaker 2: little number with all the couples walking around and then
[20:06] Speaker 2: both bailing their supposed date was really cute, yes, and
[20:13] Speaker 2: so you know, and having Mercedes there to sort of
[20:16] Speaker 2: ease them into this new dating world together was just
[20:22] Speaker 2: really really sweet. And then Sam has such a beautiful
[20:25] Speaker 2: number by himself. He does close to You, which is
[20:33] Speaker 2: I It's one of my favorite songs. I love the
[20:35] Speaker 2: Carpenters so much. And Frank Ocean has an incredible version
[20:39] Speaker 2: of this song. If you don't know what you should,
[20:43] Speaker 2: It's so good and I love chords version of it.
[20:48] Speaker 2: I was hoping that we might get a little Mercedes
[20:52] Speaker 2: Sam do it all a human nature on the stage.
[20:56] Speaker 2: But I still love it as just you know, a
[20:58] Speaker 2: chord cover so good and they have such a sweet
[21:01] Speaker 2: scene together on the auditorium stage. It's just so mature
[21:08] Speaker 2: and you know you practiced it earlier, having the little
[21:12] Speaker 2: like they're both a little jealous of one another. Yeah,
[21:16] Speaker 2: and that's cute because it also feels like, yeah, the
[21:19] Speaker 2: relationship meant something. They still have to get over something,
[21:22] Speaker 2: but they're having the support of one another in each
[21:24] Speaker 2: other's lives.
[21:24] Speaker 1: Still I'm still mourning their relationship. Maybe that's why I'm
[21:28] Speaker 1: resisting the Mercedes. Like trying to get Rachel and Sam
[21:31] Speaker 1: together so much is like, oh, I'm full of it
[21:35] Speaker 1: because I love Sam and Mercedes so much. But like
[21:37] Speaker 1: I I enjoyed watching this as well, like that, you know,
[21:43] Speaker 1: but anything with them together, it's just like so good
[21:46] Speaker 1: and so cute.
[21:47] Speaker 2: So cute. But to wrap up that sort of situation,
[21:52] Speaker 2: they Rachel and Sam agree with Mercedes support to go
[21:57] Speaker 2: on a date.
[21:58] Speaker 1: Next Thursday, which is our sharing on Thursdays.
[22:03] Speaker 2: Friday, somebody said Friday, so we're gonna see what's gonna happen.
[22:10] Speaker 2: But it's happening.
[22:13] Speaker 1: It is happening. I don't know how much of this
[22:15] Speaker 1: is gonna happen, and I don't know how much of
[22:16] Speaker 1: it I'm in. I'm into, but I we don't have
[22:20] Speaker 1: much more time, so so we'll see once again. Like Clane,
[22:34] Speaker 1: I'm just like, uh, I'm like, give me all of
[22:37] Speaker 1: the couples, Like, give me all of the couples. I'm
[22:39] Speaker 1: so happy to see it all. We're leading up to
[22:42] Speaker 1: the wedding. We're getting there. Obviously they are engaged now
[22:45] Speaker 1: and Brittany has she's hired Hardy as their wedding planner.
[22:52] Speaker 1: But prior to that, we we meet Britney's parents, who
[22:56] Speaker 1: we will see again at the wedding, and it's it's
[22:59] Speaker 1: Jennifer cool j and Ken Jong and my god, that scene.
[23:03] Speaker 2: Was out of this world so weird.
[23:06] Speaker 1: Well, first of all, can we talk about the fact
[23:09] Speaker 1: that Brittany's dad is actually well, first that she didn't
[23:12] Speaker 1: know that Ken wasn't actually her dad, and he didn't
[23:16] Speaker 1: know either.
[23:17] Speaker 2: And that's Stephen Hawking.
[23:19] Speaker 1: Stephen Hockey is her father, which like makes sense for
[23:22] Speaker 1: the genius part of it, but like, let's this is weird.
[23:26] Speaker 1: This is really really weird.
[23:27] Speaker 2: Like I didn't I've never known that like that is
[23:30] Speaker 2: glee Loore.
[23:31] Speaker 1: I was like that is that fan fistion because but
[23:35] Speaker 1: Ken's delivery in this In this scene, Jennifer cool Itge
[23:39] Speaker 1: is also just a goddess. But like Ken acting so dumb.
[23:46] Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, sixty, my like he was sixty.
[23:49] Speaker 1: He's like really like She's like what we talked about
[23:51] Speaker 1: this like a lot every day. It's such a good pairing,
[23:55] Speaker 1: all three of them together in a scene like what
[23:58] Speaker 1: a dream? Okay. So she tells her parents that she's
[24:03] Speaker 1: getting married after she learns to Stephen Hawking as her dad,
[24:06] Speaker 1: and they're so excited, and then she asks Artie to
[24:10] Speaker 1: be the wedding planner. So you're back, Kevin.
[24:13] Speaker 2: I'm back because Brittany tells me I've had nothing else
[24:16] Speaker 2: to do this year.
[24:17] Speaker 1: No, it's Britney not kidding, okay.
[24:20] Speaker 2: Which is correct. And she's listing, you know, the words
[24:26] Speaker 2: that make her think of Santana, and we land on
[24:29] Speaker 2: heaven and then we go into a dream sequence.
[24:32] Speaker 1: Which I didn't know you like you get up and
[24:35] Speaker 1: dance again?
[24:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, nor did I because I've been telling people the
[24:38] Speaker 2: wrong number of dream sequences I've had.
[24:41] Speaker 1: That's what just skips completely.
[24:45] Speaker 2: I don't even remember singing on any songs in this episode.
[24:50] Speaker 1: That's bad. I will say, I don't have a full
[24:54] Speaker 1: memory of the wedding, even like it's all coming back
[24:57] Speaker 1: to me. It's coming back to me.
[25:00] Speaker 2: I remember the wedding clearly.
[25:02] Speaker 1: Because there's so many behind the scenes things that happened.
[25:05] Speaker 1: That's the only reason I remember the weddings because of
[25:09] Speaker 1: all the behind the scenes that happened.
[25:11] Speaker 2: Oh, we were shooting in Santa Clarita, so I remember
[25:13] Speaker 2: it all.
[25:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, that's it. We'll get there.
[25:16] Speaker 2: We just keep talking about the wedding.
[25:18] Speaker 1: I know, I know, we're like getting too excited about it.
[25:20] Speaker 1: So uh you guys do wish and open adorable all.
[25:26] Speaker 2: Our friends there you see Britney Parks was there?
[25:29] Speaker 1: Head many angelic? You look great?
[25:35] Speaker 2: I look interesting.
[25:36] Speaker 1: What was that outfit?
[25:38] Speaker 2: I don't know. It looks like I'm wearing my dad's clothes.
[25:44] Speaker 1: Look still fitting for you. I thought that it was
[25:47] Speaker 1: a little big on you. Maybe I'm just used to
[25:50] Speaker 1: you wearing more fitted clothing now, But I was like,
[25:54] Speaker 1: why is her suit looks so large? Were you going
[25:59] Speaker 1: for the nineties slow?
[26:01] Speaker 2: I don't know, And I'm all like hunched over and
[26:03] Speaker 2: so it's like I didn't know how to like move
[26:06] Speaker 2: my body. I'm not at that point. I was not
[26:09] Speaker 2: used to like dancing outside of the wheelchair. I just didn't.
[26:13] Speaker 2: I was. I do remember being so uncomfortable.
[26:16] Speaker 1: Had wings on, I don't know it was and there
[26:19] Speaker 1: were swings. They should have just put you.
[26:21] Speaker 2: On a swing, and Darren was there and Cord was there.
[26:24] Speaker 1: I was like, why isn't already sitting in a swing
[26:26] Speaker 1: right now? I would have loved to see you swing
[26:27] Speaker 1: on a swing.
[26:28] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't. I mean it was a gray.
[26:30] Speaker 1: Number and it was really adorable. I just I was like,
[26:32] Speaker 1: his outfit was.
[26:34] Speaker 2: Me walking was not necessary.
[26:37] Speaker 1: But it was a dream sequence, so I guess it
[26:40] Speaker 1: was like, yay dream sequence that Sue has access to, right,
[26:46] Speaker 1: But I liked it.
[26:47] Speaker 2: I do remember all of us boys were like what
[26:49] Speaker 2: we were even, like what's going?
[26:50] Speaker 1: Where are we? Yeah? There's a lot of like putting
[26:53] Speaker 1: people in places that you're like, oh, I guess Blaine's
[26:56] Speaker 1: there in this episode, do you know what I mean?
[26:58] Speaker 1: A lot of like, oh, girth there.
[27:00] Speaker 2: It was like we're paying them them.
[27:03] Speaker 1: Yeah. I was like, I wonder if they were written
[27:04] Speaker 1: into these scenes or they were added later because that
[27:07] Speaker 1: was always a fun thing too, and the add you
[27:09] Speaker 1: leader and you're like, damn it, we do get caso
[27:12] Speaker 1: for poor dos in this because Brittany, they're talking about
[27:18] Speaker 1: the Santana and Brittany, you're talking about the guest list,
[27:20] Speaker 1: and obviously a Buila and Santana have not aired out
[27:26] Speaker 1: their their issues or a waitlist. So she's with the
[27:29] Speaker 1: Antenna brother and so she decides that she's going to
[27:33] Speaker 1: go visit and pretend to be her nurse, just a
[27:36] Speaker 1: candy strapper nurse.
[27:38] Speaker 2: And uh talks her way into that house.
[27:42] Speaker 1: Talks herway into that house. Brittany decides that she is
[27:45] Speaker 1: going to woo her. I get a Willa to like,
[27:48] Speaker 1: get to know her, to like her, and then she's
[27:51] Speaker 1: going to just flip the switch on her and surprise her.
[27:56] Speaker 1: But prior to that, she they they bond and they
[28:00] Speaker 1: become friends and Oila is very funny and she does
[28:06] Speaker 1: she might drink so Portos.
[28:10] Speaker 2: Which is an incredible episode of for two.
[28:13] Speaker 1: It's perfect, it's perfect, it's really funny.
[28:16] Speaker 2: Heathery had to speak a lot of Spanish in this
[28:18] Speaker 2: and it's very good. And she got picked up by univision.
[28:23] Speaker 1: It's very good.
[28:25] Speaker 2: I'm telling you Fondu for two needs to exist today.
[28:31] Speaker 1: We need to call Heather so insane. I also love
[28:37] Speaker 1: that the cheese is always too hot to eat. That
[28:40] Speaker 1: I love. I appreciate that gag. Oh wait, the repetitive gag.
[28:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, I do too, And like Jenna personally, I think
[28:48] Speaker 2: would also love some like hot cheese.
[28:51] Speaker 1: Me.
[28:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, I just see you like going in on
[28:56] Speaker 2: some hot cheese.
[28:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, we couldn't eat the one and fond you for
[28:59] Speaker 1: too that it wasn't it wasn't really edible. I don't
[29:02] Speaker 1: think I didn't need it.
[29:04] Speaker 2: Growth Do you like fondu though in general?
[29:06] Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, for sure. I just I didn't like it,
[29:09] Speaker 1: of course, do you know me? Yes? Okay, So we
[29:12] Speaker 1: then bring the bond and now Brittany's going to perform
[29:18] Speaker 1: get Santana to perform for a boila with the whole fire.
[29:25] Speaker 1: She looked great.
[29:26] Speaker 2: I mean Santana like went from watching fon du for
[29:30] Speaker 2: two two and like being against the whole thing. And
[29:34] Speaker 2: because Brittany clearly did not clear this with her before
[29:37] Speaker 2: attempting this, how do you do do? Yeah? And then
[29:40] Speaker 2: Brittany explains to reasoning which is so sweet and.
[29:43] Speaker 1: Right, I skipped over that.
[29:44] Speaker 2: Sorry, right, No, you're good. And then we get her
[29:49] Speaker 2: in the auditorium and Santana comes out and now Ayad
[29:52] Speaker 2: just sings her face off to Alfie off in a
[29:57] Speaker 2: beautiful dress.
[29:59] Speaker 1: With everybody behind her, and it's really great. I for
[30:03] Speaker 1: sure thought a way that was going to come through
[30:04] Speaker 1: at that moment. It had been a while. I thought
[30:09] Speaker 1: she was gonna be like, you do this and you
[30:12] Speaker 1: you know, you bait and switch me, but like, of
[30:16] Speaker 1: course I'm gonna like thanks for the lasson. So I
[30:19] Speaker 1: was disappointed.
[30:22] Speaker 2: I know this sounds crazy because I'm in the scene,
[30:25] Speaker 2: but but because I have no memory of it, I'm
[30:30] Speaker 2: speaking objectively here. I didn't think she was going to
[30:35] Speaker 2: come through because it's always you know, I think it's
[30:38] Speaker 2: a lot of times in the show things do work
[30:40] Speaker 2: out and it's nice.
[30:42] Speaker 1: I'm here for the journey.
[30:43] Speaker 2: Yeah. I really liked it, and I loved Britney sort
[30:47] Speaker 2: of being rude and firing back at her and Santana
[30:50] Speaker 2: being like, this is my family now. Yeah, and it was.
[30:55] Speaker 2: It was nice to seek Brittany does this time and
[30:58] Speaker 2: time again, where Santana is this like the strongest, loudest
[31:03] Speaker 2: character and glee right, and every time she's had any
[31:08] Speaker 2: sort of like doubt or like stadnus, Brittany is there
[31:13] Speaker 2: to like back her up and like be her biggest cheerleader. Yeah,
[31:17] Speaker 2: and here she is again doing it again.
[31:20] Speaker 1: This is why we love them, And she does it
[31:22] Speaker 1: again and in like the biggest way. And sometimes I think,
[31:27] Speaker 1: like also Santana, I could get mad at her for
[31:30] Speaker 1: doing all of this because it's just so bold, Like
[31:34] Speaker 1: it's really bold, especially with this storyline, but I think
[31:39] Speaker 1: Brittany is willing to take those risks. She just like
[31:42] Speaker 1: goes for it.
[31:43] Speaker 2: Well, they know each other so well and they know
[31:44] Speaker 2: when they need it and yeah, yeah, yeah, like Santana
[31:47] Speaker 2: does just like sort of blindly accept what Brittany's doing
[31:50] Speaker 2: because she knows her intention is always good good yeah.
[31:55] Speaker 1: And and I yeah, I'm here for it. I'm here
[32:01] Speaker 1: for like the whole the whole thing. And I feel
[32:04] Speaker 1: like I'm they're reclaiming their power as a couple.
[32:09] Speaker 2: And it's also a storyline that is still prevalent today,
[32:13] Speaker 2: like not everybody is going to accept you, you and
[32:16] Speaker 2: the person you're with.
[32:18] Speaker 1: And like having each other as actually.
[32:21] Speaker 2: Yes and like you know, that's what like Chosen Family
[32:24] Speaker 2: is all about, and making your family outside the confines
[32:28] Speaker 2: of the homes you know, we were brought up in sometimes.
[32:31] Speaker 2: So it's I think it's an important story to tell,
[32:35] Speaker 2: and I think it's important that Santana was the character
[32:37] Speaker 2: that had, you know, this going on in her family
[32:41] Speaker 2: and like you just had it in good hands. And
[32:44] Speaker 2: I think they've done yeah, like the they've done it service,
[32:47] Speaker 2: you know, in the whole coming Out episode where there's
[32:49] Speaker 2: lots of controversy about that or since then, I think
[32:54] Speaker 2: they've done such a real.
[32:55] Speaker 1: We've made up for lost time, yeah, exactly. And then
[33:00] Speaker 1: and then we get this final song, which is really
[33:04] Speaker 1: funny because Santana's like, let's just go humor a bunch
[33:06] Speaker 1: of toned up losers by acting surprised when we walk
[33:10] Speaker 1: in the auditorium. And it's really sweet though, like everybody's
[33:13] Speaker 1: showing up for them and like, you know, even when
[33:16] Speaker 1: they're I think Blaine says, like the pain in your
[33:18] Speaker 1: eyes when you're not fooling anybody, Like you think you're
[33:20] Speaker 1: fooling everyone, but you're not, And like everybody just showing
[33:22] Speaker 1: up for them, and you guys singing what the world
[33:26] Speaker 1: needs now, and this montage of when I'm going to
[33:28] Speaker 1: mister Shoe's house and like the baby and everybody coming together,
[33:32] Speaker 1: and like it feels feels like a quintessential ending to
[33:38] Speaker 1: a Glee episode, like a happy Flee episode. And I
[33:43] Speaker 1: do think it needed a little bit of feel good
[33:45] Speaker 1: after that because of the downer that a boylas and
[33:48] Speaker 1: the the challenges that they've been through. But like I
[33:53] Speaker 1: once again, the Brittany Santana of it all, it's just
[33:56] Speaker 1: like makes my heart. I'm so happy.
[33:59] Speaker 2: I also, I'm just I was just thinking about how
[34:03] Speaker 2: crazy the things Brittany said to a Baila was, like
[34:06] Speaker 2: we're waiting for like like we won, you lost, were
[34:09] Speaker 2: waiting for you guys to die out.
[34:10] Speaker 1: Basically, I know the generation the generational thing.
[34:14] Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, just like that say it.
[34:17] Speaker 1: Let her speak.
[34:19] Speaker 2: However, m it does feel like we're regressing a little bit. Irl.
[34:24] Speaker 1: Wow, that's for another day, Kevin.
[34:27] Speaker 2: Sorry, it's hard for me not to like, No, I know,
[34:30] Speaker 2: it's so it's like, since we've gotten into twenty twenty
[34:35] Speaker 2: five and watching this show now feels different because we
[34:42] Speaker 2: were doing this this recap podcast under a different administration.
[34:47] Speaker 2: I know that's not what the show is about.
[34:49] Speaker 1: No, I know, but we were just making so much
[34:50] Speaker 1: progress during this time, and it felt like we were
[34:53] Speaker 1: bringing stories to light that felt like they were going
[34:56] Speaker 1: to hopefully be we could look back on them and
[35:00] Speaker 1: say like, look how far we've come, And here we
[35:03] Speaker 1: are saying like, look how far we have to go.
[35:06] Speaker 1: And so it's it's depressing.
[35:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, and it just makes me worried. It makes me
[35:13] Speaker 2: worried for like the playlists out there who feel more
[35:21] Speaker 2: supported in their views right now, when like what Brittany
[35:24] Speaker 2: and Santana we're saying, it was like, we're not trying
[35:27] Speaker 2: to be in anybody's faces. We're just trying to like
[35:30] Speaker 2: be treated fairly and live our lives. And you also
[35:34] Speaker 2: see with like younger kids now that are like sort
[35:38] Speaker 2: of agreeing with them, and it's like a sharp turn
[35:41] Speaker 2: and I makes me a little makes me a lot
[35:44] Speaker 2: of scared. And so you know, those of you who
[35:46] Speaker 2: are out there who are listening and are worried and
[35:50] Speaker 2: scared and are part of you know, the magical LGBT
[35:53] Speaker 2: community there, we are all still here and there's a
[35:58] Speaker 2: lot of us all around the world, and you have
[36:02] Speaker 2: to like when things seem so daunting, like they can
[36:05] Speaker 2: and do right now, you start local, start with your friends,
[36:09] Speaker 2: start in your communities, and take care of each other.
[36:12] Speaker 2: And then by leading by that example, it spreads. So
[36:16] Speaker 2: I think right now it feels like like what can
[36:18] Speaker 2: we do? How do we protect each other? It's like,
[36:20] Speaker 2: just protect each other, just you know, find your people,
[36:23] Speaker 2: stay with your people, and through that we will all
[36:26] Speaker 2: get through this. But watching this show it gives me
[36:29] Speaker 2: hope and also makes me sad right now. So yeah,
[36:33] Speaker 2: it's a good reminder.
[36:34] Speaker 1: It is a good reminder, good reminder sadly. Yeah, do
[36:38] Speaker 1: you want to write some songs?
[36:43] Speaker 2: Okay? Sorry I did that.
[36:45] Speaker 1: No, I think it's important. Let's just write some songs
[36:48] Speaker 1: so we can uh, okay, we can talk about some music.
[36:51] Speaker 1: It makes us feel better about the stay of the world.
[36:54] Speaker 1: And you know, you stay on that cellbacks giving you're going.
[37:00] Speaker 2: No, I was gonna saying, I know it's controversial that
[37:03] Speaker 2: we didn't do an Elton episode, if that rumor is true,
[37:07] Speaker 2: but Burt backrack Bangers.
[37:09] Speaker 1: Bangers Bangers, I was like, oh my god, we haven't.
[37:13] Speaker 1: Why had we not done this sooner?
[37:16] Speaker 2: But like, also, we should have done an episode.
[37:18] Speaker 1: Absolutely both and you know that end. Okay, I'll never
[37:22] Speaker 1: fall in love again. A A baby, it's you.
[37:26] Speaker 2: A that that Amber vocal stupid.
[37:31] Speaker 1: It's unbelievable, wishing and hoping, A B plus B plus.
[37:39] Speaker 1: Arthur's theme was yeah A minus. Uh they long to
[37:44] Speaker 1: be close to you, A promised promises A plus, Alphie
[37:50] Speaker 1: A plus plus and what the world needs now, hey
[37:55] Speaker 1: look at that, Kevin. We are very in sync on
[37:58] Speaker 1: this episode.
[37:59] Speaker 2: Oh my god, I love and sync me too.
[38:04] Speaker 1: Let's do some party. So there are some cringe moments,
[38:09] Speaker 1: there wasn't anything like really crazy I did. It wasn't
[38:13] Speaker 1: an OUCHI as much as the thing of them, like
[38:15] Speaker 1: Mercedes and Sam talking about the tank. I was like,
[38:19] Speaker 1: what is happening right now? Can we just skip over there?
[38:24] Speaker 2: Can we just keep calling? I think I might have
[38:26] Speaker 2: looked down at my phone ver it's like and it
[38:28] Speaker 2: looked up like like what I.
[38:30] Speaker 1: Was like, is this what we're really talking about? And
[38:33] Speaker 1: then also calling Stephen Hawking a root.
[38:35] Speaker 2: Yeah I didn't like that.
[38:37] Speaker 1: No Nosa best dance move. Okay, wait, we didn't talk
[38:42] Speaker 1: about this. So inuition and hope and which is I
[38:45] Speaker 1: give an A plus plus dance move was she she
[38:49] Speaker 1: literally lifts you up in the air like a baby
[38:54] Speaker 1: and you wrap yourself around her, which I think you
[38:57] Speaker 1: would normally done anyway as Kevin, but I.
[38:59] Speaker 2: Just exactly what they did it. I did love that.
[39:03] Speaker 2: I again I didn't remember it, and watching it, I
[39:06] Speaker 2: was like, oh, that's funny.
[39:07] Speaker 1: It's very funny and very me very I was like, oh,
[39:11] Speaker 1: this is something that you guys preform wrack out and
[39:13] Speaker 1: they kept it this song.
[39:16] Speaker 2: Oh close, I have a three way tie.
[39:22] Speaker 1: ALFI promises, promises and baby it's you.
[39:26] Speaker 2: No, oh, ALFI promises promises and close to you.
[39:32] Speaker 1: WHOA, that's a good one. I agree with that. I
[39:38] Speaker 1: think Alfie, though I don't know actually promises promises. God,
[39:44] Speaker 1: I know that was really good. Okay, performance by a.
[39:48] Speaker 2: Prop I mean god, I mean all of Pordos like
[39:57] Speaker 2: there was a lot happening. Pinad does Marac Maraccas. Yeah.
[40:01] Speaker 1: I was like that too, oh got it gets yeah, yeah,
[40:06] Speaker 1: it's dressed all of fond for t Wait.
[40:09] Speaker 2: You know what we didn't hold on you. What we
[40:10] Speaker 2: skipped over was Britney showing back up at McKinley and
[40:14] Speaker 2: she has all the Latin fans signing autographs and also
[40:23] Speaker 2: I was.
[40:24] Speaker 1: Like, no, no.
[40:26] Speaker 2: No, I'm like, you're telling me we've had them all along,
[40:30] Speaker 2: but we've only seen white kids in this school.
[40:32] Speaker 1: Mm hmmm mm hm, No, we haven't had them.
[40:37] Speaker 2: I actually think I will vote for the prop is
[40:40] Speaker 2: the autograph photo and also the bouquet that I've throw
[40:44] Speaker 2: up to Brittany.
[40:45] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was a good one. That was a
[40:47] Speaker 1: good one. The best line.
[40:51] Speaker 2: There's a lot in this episode.
[40:53] Speaker 1: There's a lot. Honestly, I'm going emotional and I'm going
[40:55] Speaker 1: with well, first of all, welcome to Case over Portos,
[41:00] Speaker 1: which I just loilt the univision.
[41:02] Speaker 2: That's my favorite and the one for me, and then
[41:06] Speaker 2: the other one.
[41:06] Speaker 1: Is just uh the the Britney Santana speaking to a boiler.
[41:12] Speaker 1: That whole thing like that back and forth I thought
[41:15] Speaker 1: was like a plus plus.
[41:17] Speaker 2: I also liked the bit at the end of the
[41:20] Speaker 2: episode with everybody speaking up about what family is. I think,
[41:26] Speaker 2: you know, back to my soapbox moment. That's important. That's
[41:28] Speaker 2: an important lesson to carry with us.
[41:31] Speaker 1: Yes, there was also the scene where you walk into
[41:34] Speaker 1: or you roll into Hemo's room, Britney's room, and you're like,
[41:40] Speaker 1: I've been in here before we've dated. We dated for
[41:42] Speaker 1: like three months. She was like, I think I would
[41:44] Speaker 1: have remembered if I dated a guy with glasses.
[41:46] Speaker 2: Yes, I love that joke.
