The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. Hell Yale, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
[0:27] Speaker 1: to over four hundred and fifty stories written just for you.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Our Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Joseph is a Premium member from Perth in Australia, and
[0:40] Speaker 1: he would like a story with a cappy barra and
[0:43] Speaker 1: a cat. Don't forget to listen to the animal facts
[0:46] Speaker 1: after the story to learn more about these creatures. For now,
[0:50] Speaker 1: it's time to sit back and get comfy, because it's
[0:53] Speaker 1: time to begin. Darra, the cappy barra sits. Joseph opened
[1:01] Speaker 1: his front door, expecting it to be the postman. You
[1:05] Speaker 1: can probably imagine his surprise when he saw a cappy
[1:08] Speaker 1: bara standing there. It was stood on its rear legs
[1:12] Speaker 1: and clutching a piece of paper. Er hullo, said Joseph.
[1:19] Speaker 1: It was only then that he realized that the piece
[1:21] Speaker 1: of paper was the one that had been pinned to
[1:23] Speaker 1: the gate post. Are you here about the cat sitting?
[1:28] Speaker 1: I most certainly, am, said the capybara. Sternly, he thrust
[1:33] Speaker 1: the piece of paper forward so that Joseph could see
[1:36] Speaker 1: it clearly. It is an outrage. How can you people
[1:41] Speaker 1: promote such a thing? What cat sitting? Asked Joseph, fearing
[1:48] Speaker 1: he'd missed the point. Indeed, cat sitting, confirmed the cappy Bara.
[1:55] Speaker 1: I cannot support my fellow hairy mammals being sat on. No, no,
[2:01] Speaker 1: you've got it all wrong, replied Joseph, suddenly understanding the mistake.
[2:07] Speaker 1: We're not looking for some one to sit on our cat.
[2:11] Speaker 1: We want some one to sit with our cat while
[2:14] Speaker 1: we're away at the week end. Ah well, that's different,
[2:20] Speaker 1: said the cappy Barra, screwing the piece of paper into
[2:23] Speaker 1: a ball. So what would be in it for me?
[2:28] Speaker 1: We'd pay you, said Joseph. Ah well, I'm not sure
[2:33] Speaker 1: that would work. I can't seem to get to grips
[2:36] Speaker 1: with money, said the cappy Barra as he patted his
[2:40] Speaker 1: hairy hips. No pockets, you see, we could feed you,
[2:45] Speaker 1: Joseph offered. In that case, the name's Dara, Dara, the
[2:51] Speaker 1: cappy barra, said the cappy Barra. What time do I start? On?
[2:57] Speaker 1: Friday afternoon? Dara turned to Joseph's house to begin his
[3:02] Speaker 1: weekend of cat sitting while Joseph's mum packed their things
[3:07] Speaker 1: into the car. Joseph showed Dara around the house, pointing
[3:11] Speaker 1: out where the cat food was, where the litter tray
[3:14] Speaker 1: was kept, and where to find the guest bedroom. But
[3:19] Speaker 1: there was one thing that Joseph couldn't do. I can't
[3:22] Speaker 1: seem to find our cat, he said. But he'll be
[3:26] Speaker 1: around somewhere, I'm sure. When you do see him, make
[3:30] Speaker 1: sure he gets something to eat and sit with him,
[3:34] Speaker 1: said Dara with a raised eyebrow. That's the important bit, remember,
[3:41] Speaker 1: Oh yes, said Joseph as he heard his mum call
[3:44] Speaker 1: him from outside. Look it's time for me to go
[3:49] Speaker 1: help yourself to whatever you want to eat. See you someday.
[3:53] Speaker 1: And with that, the cappy bar found himself alone in
[3:57] Speaker 1: the house. Dara looked around the kitchen and rubbed his
[4:01] Speaker 1: hands together. Right, he said, I'd best get started. Cupboards
[4:09] Speaker 1: were pulled open, draws rummaged in, and the fridge ransacked.
[4:15] Speaker 1: The hob blazed, the oven baked, the microwave pinged, the
[4:20] Speaker 1: air friar hummed, and the smoothie maker word. Dara even
[4:26] Speaker 1: discovered an old waffle iron on a shelf and fired
[4:29] Speaker 1: that up. Too. By the time it was dark outside,
[4:34] Speaker 1: Dara had pretty much eaten everything. He was sat at
[4:39] Speaker 1: the table, rubbing his very full belly when it occurred
[4:43] Speaker 1: to him that he was still all alone. Well this
[4:48] Speaker 1: really won't do, he said to himself. How can I
[4:52] Speaker 1: sit with the cat if the cat's not hear He
[4:56] Speaker 1: hopped down from the chair and wobbled towards the kitchen door.
[5:02] Speaker 1: There was a pet door situated near the bottom edge,
[5:05] Speaker 1: so Dara poked his head through the flap and shouted cat.
[5:12] Speaker 1: With the sun now set, it wasn't easy to see
[5:15] Speaker 1: all that far. He tried calling again, then gave up.
[5:21] Speaker 1: Well this really won't do, he said again, as he
[5:25] Speaker 1: stood back up. As he did so, the flap opened inwards,
[5:31] Speaker 1: and a black and white head appeared. Did you call?
[5:35] Speaker 1: Asked the cat. If you'd like to hear more, please
