The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. He yo, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
[0:27] Speaker 1: to over four hundred and fifty stories written just for you.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Our Friday story is especially for our premium subscribers only.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Ari is a premium member for Massachusetts U s A.
[0:40] Speaker 1: And he would like a story with a crane, a stork,
[0:44] Speaker 1: a crocodile, a frog, and a turtle. Don't forget to
[0:49] Speaker 1: listen to the animal facts after the story to learn
[0:52] Speaker 1: more about some of these creatures. For now, it's time
[0:55] Speaker 1: to sit back and get comfy, because it's time to
[0:58] Speaker 1: begin crocodile fears. Growing up in a swamp might sound
[1:06] Speaker 1: like an unpleasant place to live, but for Ari, it
[1:11] Speaker 1: was the best place in the world. Ari was a crocodile,
[1:16] Speaker 1: and he thought nothing could be better than the swamp's cool,
[1:19] Speaker 1: murky waters. You're probably imagining Ari as a huge, long crocodile,
[1:27] Speaker 1: covered in lumpy scuts and with a mouthful of enormous teeth. Well,
[1:32] Speaker 1: he wasn't quite like that, although he hoped to be
[1:36] Speaker 1: one day when he grew up. Right now, Ari wasn't
[1:41] Speaker 1: very big at all, not even as long as a
[1:44] Speaker 1: house cat, but that didn't bother him much. That was
[1:48] Speaker 1: because he was surrounded by ten brothers and sisters, all
[1:52] Speaker 1: of whom had hatched together. And then there was their mum.
[1:57] Speaker 1: Now she really was a big crocodile, and that meant
[2:01] Speaker 1: that all the other creatures of the swamp, particularly the predators,
[2:06] Speaker 1: stayed well away. It was these other animals that fascinated Ari.
[2:13] Speaker 1: As a wild animal, he had no TV to watch,
[2:16] Speaker 1: books to read, or phones or tablets to look things
[2:19] Speaker 1: up on, so the only way he was going to
[2:22] Speaker 1: learn about the world around him was to look at
[2:25] Speaker 1: it for himself. Stay close, warned his mum as he
[2:31] Speaker 1: swam to investigate a snail suspended over the water upon
[2:35] Speaker 1: a leaf, I will Ari called back, although he was
[2:40] Speaker 1: hardly listening. How could he when there was such a
[2:44] Speaker 1: bizarre animal in front of him. It had a soft,
[2:47] Speaker 1: squidgy body and a hard curling shell. A deep buzzing
[2:53] Speaker 1: sound thrumbed over his head, and Ari looked up in
[2:56] Speaker 1: time to see a dragon fly buzz past. It looked
[3:00] Speaker 1: so big and moved so strangely, darting this way and
[3:04] Speaker 1: that hovering still for a moment, then zipping away once more.
[3:11] Speaker 1: Ari couldn't help himself, creating a path through the green
[3:15] Speaker 1: surface plants as he tried to follow. Then beside a
[3:20] Speaker 1: half submerged log, the dragon fly put on a burst
[3:24] Speaker 1: of speed and disappeared from sight. That was amazing, grinned
[3:31] Speaker 1: the little crocodile, scrambling up the logs side. Perhaps from
[3:36] Speaker 1: up here he could see more strange creatures, and he
[3:40] Speaker 1: was in luck. He was being watched by a whooping crane.
[3:46] Speaker 1: The tall white bird stood knee deep in the water.
[3:50] Speaker 1: It had a long pointed beak and a red patch
[3:53] Speaker 1: on top of its head. Hi, said Ari. The whooping
[3:59] Speaker 1: crane look surprised to be spoken to er Hello, it replied,
[4:06] Speaker 1: aren't you afraid of me? Why would I be afraid,
[4:10] Speaker 1: asked the little crocodile. I don't know a thing about you.
[4:14] Speaker 1: And besides, I'm with my mum and all my brothers
[4:18] Speaker 1: and sisters. I don't see them, said the whooping crane.
[4:23] Speaker 1: Unable to hide its grin, Ari had a good view
[4:28] Speaker 1: around him from the top of the log. Worryingly, his
[4:31] Speaker 1: family were nowhere to be seen. Oh no, said Ari,
[4:37] Speaker 1: I've lost them. But said the whooping crane as it
[4:42] Speaker 1: took a step forward. I've found you. If you'd like
[4:47] Speaker 1: to hear more, please join our premium service. You can
[4:50] Speaker 1: find out how in the description. The premium service means
[4:55] Speaker 1: you can listen to all animal tell stories advert free,
[4:58] Speaker 1: get bonus stories, and we guarantee to turn your animal
[5:02] Speaker 1: suggestion into a future tale. I look forward to seeing
[5:06] Speaker 1: you there
