The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. Hello, YAlO, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
[0:26] Speaker 1: to over four hundred and fifty stories written just for you.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Our Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Orgie is a Premium member from San Diego, U s A.
[0:40] Speaker 1: And he would like a story with a peregrine falcon,
[0:43] Speaker 1: a poisoned dart frog, a jumping spider, and an arapeimer.
[0:48] Speaker 1: Don't forget to listen to the animal facts after the
[0:51] Speaker 1: story to learn more about some of these creatures. For now,
[0:55] Speaker 1: it's time to sit back and get comfy, because it's
[0:57] Speaker 1: time to begin the most dangerous journey. The deep dark
[1:05] Speaker 1: woods were only inhabited by the scariest, most dangerous of animals.
[1:10] Speaker 1: It was said that you couldn't walk ten paces without
[1:13] Speaker 1: some menacing creature trying to gobble you up. The trees
[1:18] Speaker 1: grew tall and thick, making it difficult to see, and
[1:22] Speaker 1: the ground was so twisted with roots and rocks that
[1:25] Speaker 1: every step could trip you. As a consequence, only the
[1:29] Speaker 1: bravest or most foolish of animals ever dared to enter.
[1:36] Speaker 1: Orgie was a little jumping spider, and he lived right
[1:40] Speaker 1: beside these deep, dark woods in an old pine cone.
[1:44] Speaker 1: He would sometimes see strange shadows moving amongst the trees,
[1:48] Speaker 1: and there are odd noises all through the night. You
[1:52] Speaker 1: won't catch me going in those woods, Orgie would say
[1:56] Speaker 1: to himself. But not all the animals were as careful Orgie,
[2:01] Speaker 1: Come on, Orgie. Taaron the tarantula teased, we're going to
[2:06] Speaker 1: play by the woods. You've got to run in and
[2:09] Speaker 1: touch the hollow tree. Gina the grass snake urged, We've
[2:14] Speaker 1: all done it, now it's your turn. He'll never do it,
[2:19] Speaker 1: sneered Suki, a sand lizard. He's far too little, not
[2:23] Speaker 1: like us. In truth, they weren't particularly big or brave themselves.
[2:30] Speaker 1: As soon as they heard a twig snap or a
[2:32] Speaker 1: leaf rustle, they would come sprinting from beneath the trees
[2:36] Speaker 1: in fright. But right now, all they were interested in
[2:40] Speaker 1: was making themselves feel bigger than the little jumping spider.
[2:45] Speaker 1: It wasn't Orgie's fault that he was so small, that's
[2:49] Speaker 1: just what jumping spiders looked like. But he knew that
[2:52] Speaker 1: the woods were no place for a little critter like him.
[2:56] Speaker 1: He had no intention of ever setting foot past those trees.
[3:02] Speaker 1: Then one day Orgie felt his pine cone move and shake.
[3:08] Speaker 1: He poked out from between the cone's scales, and his
[3:12] Speaker 1: heart skipped a beat. He was in the air, high
[3:16] Speaker 1: above the trees. His pine cone home was in the
[3:19] Speaker 1: talons of a crow. Orgie almost screaked in fear, but
[3:25] Speaker 1: he didn't want the bird to know he was there.
[3:28] Speaker 1: What was he going to do? A sudden flurry of
[3:31] Speaker 1: black wings announced the arrival of another crow, cowing and pecking.
[3:37] Speaker 1: The first crow shrieked, Orgie gasped, and the pine cone fell.
[3:43] Speaker 1: Orgie felt his home tumble through the air, so he
[3:47] Speaker 1: held on tightly with his many tiny legs. The cone
[3:51] Speaker 1: bounced from a branch, struck another, then hit the ground
[3:56] Speaker 1: before rolling to a stop. Dazed and stunned, and Orge
[4:01] Speaker 1: stumbled out. He could only hope he had landed outside
[4:05] Speaker 1: of the deep, dark woods, but what he saw suggested otherwise.
[4:11] Speaker 1: The trees around him were tall and overbearing. Twisted roots
[4:16] Speaker 1: erupted from the ground, thorny vines entangled the trunks, and
[4:21] Speaker 1: the shadows seemed to move and swirl. I am inside
[4:26] Speaker 1: the deep dark woods, He whispered to himself in fright,
[4:31] Speaker 1: and I don't know which way is out. He recalled
[4:35] Speaker 1: the stories of dangerous animals lurking around every tree trunk,
[4:39] Speaker 1: waiting to gobble him up. What was he going to do?
[4:45] Speaker 1: A dark shape on a nearby branch moved unexpectedly, making
[4:49] Speaker 1: Orge squeak with fright. Are you supposed to be here?
[4:54] Speaker 1: It asked ORGI was surprised to find himself staring into
[4:59] Speaker 1: the eyes of a peregrine falcon, the fastest animal in
[5:03] Speaker 1: the whole world. If you'd like to hear more, please
