The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. He yo, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
[0:26] Speaker 1: to over four hundred and fifty stories written just for you.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Our Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Shay is a Premium member from Calgary in Canada, and
[0:39] Speaker 1: he would like a story with a bunny, a fox,
[0:43] Speaker 1: a cat, and a Walruss. Don't forget to listen to
[0:46] Speaker 1: the animal facts after the story to learn more about
[0:49] Speaker 1: these creatures. For now, it's time to sit back and
[0:53] Speaker 1: get comfy, because it's time to begin Scary monsters. Shay
[1:01] Speaker 1: hopped down the forest path a little faster than normal.
[1:05] Speaker 1: His skips were excited, his twitching nose alert, while his
[1:09] Speaker 1: eyes flickered back and forth through the undergrowth. The little
[1:13] Speaker 1: bunny could barely contain himself. He was desperate to find
[1:17] Speaker 1: some one to talk to, and all because Shay had
[1:21] Speaker 1: seen a monster. He'd been down at the beach searching
[1:25] Speaker 1: for shells when he'd seen it. A giant, hulking blob
[1:29] Speaker 1: of a creature had risen from the water, far bigger
[1:33] Speaker 1: than anything Shay had ever seen. He'd been too scared
[1:37] Speaker 1: to stick around, but in that fleeting moment it emerged
[1:40] Speaker 1: from the sea, he had noticed the creature's whiskered face.
[1:45] Speaker 1: At first, the bunny had been terrified. He'd run faster
[1:50] Speaker 1: than he'd ever run before, kicking hard with his long
[1:53] Speaker 1: legs over the sand dunes, across the field and into
[1:57] Speaker 1: the safety of the trees. Feeling safer now that he'd
[2:01] Speaker 1: put plenty of distance between himself and the monster, all
[2:05] Speaker 1: she wanted to do was tell someone what he'd seen, and,
[2:09] Speaker 1: as luck would have it, Shay ran into someone almost instantly,
[2:14] Speaker 1: quite literally, charging into a brown, fluffy backside. The animal yowled,
[2:21] Speaker 1: leaping into the air in fright to hook her claws
[2:24] Speaker 1: into the tree above Kyler. It's you, said the bunny
[2:29] Speaker 1: to the upside down tortoises shell cat. You gave me
[2:32] Speaker 1: quite a scare. I scared you, said the cat, pulling
[2:38] Speaker 1: her claws from the tree's trunk. She dropped effortlessly to
[2:42] Speaker 1: the ground and gave herself a shake. You're the one
[2:46] Speaker 1: crashing into animals out of the blue. What has you
[2:50] Speaker 1: in such a hurry? Anyway? Sorry about that, said Shay,
[2:55] Speaker 1: but Kyler, You're never going to believe it. I saw
[2:59] Speaker 1: a monster, A monster, Kyla repeated, her eyes narrowing. What
[3:06] Speaker 1: do you mean a monster? It was huge, even bigger
[3:11] Speaker 1: than a horse, Shaye said. It made a sound like
[3:16] Speaker 1: a trumpet as it rose from the water, right by
[3:19] Speaker 1: the sand dunes. What did it look like, Kyla asked,
[3:24] Speaker 1: suddenly full of curiosity. I didn't hang around to get
[3:28] Speaker 1: a good look, Shae confessed. I ran away before it
[3:32] Speaker 1: could get me, But I did see its face. It
[3:35] Speaker 1: had long, bushy whiskers around its nose, sort of like you.
[3:41] Speaker 1: The cat wrinkled her face as she looked down her
[3:44] Speaker 1: own nose at her whiskered muzzle, whiskers like mine, you say,
[3:49] Speaker 1: she said, it doesn't sound very scary. Doesn't sound scary,
[3:55] Speaker 1: Shae repeated, sounding shocked. Didn't you hear me? It was
[4:00] Speaker 1: a monster, so you keep saying, said the cat, waving
[4:06] Speaker 1: him off. But this monster of yours doesn't sound all
[4:09] Speaker 1: that scary to me. And I should know, because I
[4:13] Speaker 1: saw an even scarier monster just yesterday. What, Shay cried?
[4:21] Speaker 1: Where what did your monster look like? Well? It was
[4:26] Speaker 1: far bigger than your monster, for a start, Kyla said,
[4:31] Speaker 1: mine was more the size of a moose, and the
[4:33] Speaker 1: noise my monster made was even louder than a trumpet.
[4:37] Speaker 1: It sounded like an airhorn blasting my ear drums. No way, say, cried,
[4:45] Speaker 1: and was your monster near the sand dunes too? No,
[4:50] Speaker 1: it wasn't by the sand dunes, Kyla said, it was
[4:53] Speaker 1: much further down the beach, upon the rocks. And what
[4:57] Speaker 1: did it look like? The bunny asked, did you get
[5:01] Speaker 1: a good look at it? Er? Well, no, Kayler admitted,
[5:06] Speaker 1: it was half hidden by the rocks, and the sky
[5:09] Speaker 1: was gray and dark because it was raining. But I
[5:13] Speaker 1: did see that it had two enormous tusks sticking out
[5:16] Speaker 1: of its mouth like fangs. If you'd like to hear more,
[5:20] Speaker 1: please join our premium service. You can find out how
[5:23] Speaker 1: in the description. The premium service means. You can listen
