The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:15] Speaker 1: Hello, I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales Podcast.

[0:23] Speaker 1: with a new one released every Friday, and this is
[0:27] Speaker 1: a taster of another one. To find out how to

[0:42] Speaker 1: is a premium member from California, USA, and she would
[0:45] Speaker 1: like a story with a koala and a red panda.
[0:49] Speaker 1: Don't forget to listen to the animal facts after the
[0:52] Speaker 1: story to learn more about these creatures. For now, it's
[0:56] Speaker 1: time to sit back and get comfy, because it's time
[0:59] Speaker 1: to begin. Koala Creek It was late at night when
[1:05] Speaker 1: Mr and Mrs Cooper heard the noise outside. Mr Cooper
[1:10] Speaker 1: went to investigate, with Mrs Cooper close behind, telling him
[1:15] Speaker 1: to be careful. Together, the two of them tiptoed to
[1:19] Speaker 1: the back door and peeked through the blinds. Their bin
[1:24] Speaker 1: was lying on its side. Maybe it was raccoons, Mrs
[1:29] Speaker 1: Cooper said. but her husband wasn't convinced. Their small town
[1:34] Speaker 1: of Willow Creek didn't usually get raccoons. Creeping outside, they
[1:40] Speaker 1: heard muffled sounds coming from the toppled bin. Something was inside. Carefully,
[1:47] Speaker 1: Mr Cooper nudged it around until the opening was facing them.
[1:52] Speaker 1: Then he and his wife bent down to look within.
[1:55] Speaker 1: A pair of large brown eyes looked back. Oh my,
[2:03] Speaker 1: Mrs Cooper cried, it's a little koala. But, began the
[2:09] Speaker 1: puzzled Mr Cooper, how did it get in our garden? Oh,
[2:14] Speaker 1: that doesn't matter right now, Mrs Cooper said, gently scooping
[2:19] Speaker 1: up the tiny creature. Let's get her inside. In no time,
[2:26] Speaker 1: the new house guest was fed, watered and cleaned. When
[2:30] Speaker 1: morning arrived, Mr Cooper called around to see if any
[2:34] Speaker 1: zoos or wildlife sanctuaries were missing a young koala. None
[2:39] Speaker 1: of them were. Days passed, and the longer they had
[2:43] Speaker 1: the little furball, the more they grew attached. The koala,
[2:48] Speaker 1: it seemed, was here to stay. So Mrs Cooper named
[2:53] Speaker 1: her Olivia. The people of Willow Creek took to Olivia quickly.
[3:00] Speaker 1: They gave her toys and treats, and the more the
[3:03] Speaker 1: little koala grew, the more they took her to heart.
[3:07] Speaker 1: So much so that the town began to change around her.
[3:12] Speaker 1: Mrs Witherspoon, the librarian, knitted some koala cuddly toys for
[3:17] Speaker 1: the children's section of the library. Then the knick-knack shop
[3:23] Speaker 1: began stocking koala T-shirts and tote bags. The hungry diner
[3:28] Speaker 1: hung pictures of koalas on their walls while the ice
[3:32] Speaker 1: cream parlour started selling a new chocolate and caramel flavoured
[3:36] Speaker 1: koala milkshake. Within a short while there was something featuring
[3:42] Speaker 1: koalas just about everywhere. People beyond the town began to notice.
[3:49] Speaker 1: That's when the tourists began to arrive. Soon there were
[3:53] Speaker 1: people from all over. coming to take a look at
[3:56] Speaker 1: the koala-crazy town, and the tourists brought their money with them.
[4:02] Speaker 1: The guesthouses and hotels were full, the shops and restaurants
[4:06] Speaker 1: were busy, and everyone couldn't seem to get enough of
[4:10] Speaker 1: the koala theme. And so, just a few months after
[4:15] Speaker 1: Olivia was found, the town of Willow Creek officially changed
[4:19] Speaker 1: its name to Koala Creek. The town had koala fever
[4:25] Speaker 1: and Olivia was their mascot. Fortunately, Olivia loved the attention.
[4:33] Speaker 1: She loved having her photo taken with visitors and loved
[4:37] Speaker 1: that everyone knew her name. And most of all, she
[4:41] Speaker 1: loved that Mr and Mrs Cooper cared for her more
[4:44] Speaker 1: than anything. The little koala couldn't be happier. Life, it seemed,
[4:51] Speaker 1: was perfect. Then, one day, there was a knock at
[4:56] Speaker 1: the Cooper's door. If you'd like to hear more, please
[5:01] Speaker 1: join our premium service. You can find out how by
[5:04] Speaker 1: visiting animaltales.uk. The premium service allows you to listen to
[5:10] Speaker 1: all stories advert-free, get bonus stories, and we guarantee to
[5:15] Speaker 1: turn your animal suggestion into a future tale. I look
[5:20] Speaker 1: forward to seeing you there.
