The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. Hell yo, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I am Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast,
[0:26] Speaker 1: home to over four hundred stories written just for you.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Our Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Eliza is a Premium member from Buffalo, New York in
[0:40] Speaker 1: the U s A. And she would like a story
[0:42] Speaker 1: with an alicorn and a cheetah. Don't forget to listen
[0:46] Speaker 1: to the animal facts after the story to learn more
[0:49] Speaker 1: about these creatures. For now, it's time to sit back
[0:53] Speaker 1: and get comfy, because it's time to begin Slow Cheater.
[1:01] Speaker 1: Each and every animal had something that they were known
[1:04] Speaker 1: for out on the savannah. The elephants, of course, were strong,
[1:09] Speaker 1: able to push down trees and walk through the waters
[1:12] Speaker 1: of fast moving rivers. The lions were loyal, working together
[1:18] Speaker 1: to hunt their prey and never leaving anyone behind. The
[1:23] Speaker 1: crocodiles were sneaky, hiding beneath the surface of the water
[1:27] Speaker 1: while they patiently waited for an animal to get close
[1:30] Speaker 1: enough for them to strike. And the cheaters, as we
[1:34] Speaker 1: all know, were fast out running every other animal they
[1:39] Speaker 1: came across with these. At least, that's what most cheaters did. Eliza, however,
[1:47] Speaker 1: was different. Eliza just wasn't able to keep up with
[1:52] Speaker 1: the other cheaters try as she might. Her siblings and
[1:56] Speaker 1: friends always outpaced her, would try only to struggle and
[2:02] Speaker 1: quickly fall behind. Why aren't I as fast as everyone else?
[2:08] Speaker 1: She'd ask herself time and time again. Was it that
[2:12] Speaker 1: her legs weren't as long as theirs? Maybe she wasn't
[2:15] Speaker 1: as strong as them, and she was sure that she
[2:18] Speaker 1: wasn't clumsy or awkward, But for some reason, she just
[2:23] Speaker 1: couldn't run as fast as the other cheetahs. Her friends
[2:28] Speaker 1: did their best to help. Sienna, Oscar and Rita were
[2:32] Speaker 1: always up for a race, and they knew it would
[2:35] Speaker 1: be unfair to leave Eliza out, so they made sure
[2:39] Speaker 1: to include her. Don't take any notice of anyone else,
[2:44] Speaker 1: Sienna suggested. Just concentrate on one spot and run as
[2:49] Speaker 1: hard as you can towards it, and remember to breathe
[2:53] Speaker 1: said Oscar. Good breath control is very important. And if
[2:59] Speaker 1: you get a ditch, just keep going, said Rita. Push
[3:03] Speaker 1: through it. Eliza had heard all this a thousand times before.
[3:10] Speaker 1: She knew every tip trick and suggestion off by heart,
[3:16] Speaker 1: but none of it ever seemed to work. She was
[3:19] Speaker 1: never any quicker, but she wanted to try. The alternative
[3:25] Speaker 1: was to sit the race out completely, and that wouldn't
[3:28] Speaker 1: be any fun. So she lined up beside them on
[3:32] Speaker 1: the starting line. Ready set go, Oscar cried, and the
[3:40] Speaker 1: cheetahs took off. The cats streaked across the grassland, pounding
[3:46] Speaker 1: with their feet as they raced for the finish line.
[3:50] Speaker 1: Eliza was doing well, but even so was only halfway
[3:54] Speaker 1: there by the time the others reached the finish line.
[3:59] Speaker 1: Don't worry alone, Lisa, said Sienna, as they trotted back
[4:03] Speaker 1: to meet her. With practice. You'll get there one day.
[4:07] Speaker 1: I don't think so, said Eliza quietly. I just don't
[4:12] Speaker 1: have that magic ingredient that makes me fast. You'll have
[4:17] Speaker 1: to go and see an alacorn, then, joked Oscar. Aren't
[4:21] Speaker 1: they supposed to do magic? Rita laughed, but Eliza didn't
[4:27] Speaker 1: take him seriously. They all knew the stories about the alacorns,
[4:32] Speaker 1: winged horses with horns on their heads living deep in
[4:36] Speaker 1: the mystic jungle. If they were true, of course, how
[4:41] Speaker 1: would if they really existed, muttered Eliza. Sure they exist,
[4:47] Speaker 1: said Rita, much to Eliza's surprise. If you'd like to
[4:51] Speaker 1: hear more, please join our premium service. You can find
[4:55] Speaker 1: out how in the description. The premium service means you
[4:59] Speaker 1: can listen to all animal tales stories advert free, get
[5:03] Speaker 1: bonus stories, and we guarantee to turn your animal suggestion
[5:07] Speaker 1: into a future tale. I look forward to seeing you there.
