The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. He yo, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
[0:27] Speaker 1: to over four hundred stories written just for you. Our
[0:31] Speaker 1: Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only. Jude
[0:36] Speaker 1: is a Premium member from Virginia, U s A. And
[0:39] Speaker 1: he would like a story with a dragon and a lion.
[0:43] Speaker 1: Don't forget to listen to the animal facts after the
[0:46] Speaker 1: story to learn more about these creatures. And now it's
[0:50] Speaker 1: time to sit back and get comfy, because it's time
[0:53] Speaker 1: to begin. What makes a Dragon? The town of beasts
[1:00] Speaker 1: Wood was turning one hundred years old, so the animals
[1:04] Speaker 1: who lived there wanted to celebrate. A festival was being
[1:08] Speaker 1: planned to include food, games, prizes, and a parade, and
[1:14] Speaker 1: it was all going to begin with the unveiling of
[1:16] Speaker 1: a new statue in the town square. Jude had been
[1:21] Speaker 1: asked to make the statue, and the lion fell honored
[1:25] Speaker 1: to accept, but a statue of what. After much squabbling, debating,
[1:32] Speaker 1: and voting, the animals of the town decided that the
[1:35] Speaker 1: statue needed to represent three things. Strength, courage, and kindness.
[1:43] Speaker 1: It would be a statue to inspire all that looked
[1:46] Speaker 1: at it. But what animal represented strength, courage and kindness.
[1:54] Speaker 1: The statue should be an elephant, mister Trunk. The elephant cried,
[2:00] Speaker 1: We're the biggest land animals by far. Bigger doesn't mean better,
[2:06] Speaker 1: argued missus Hay. It should be a horse. We're fast
[2:11] Speaker 1: and strong. There's nothing stronger than a spider, piped up
[2:17] Speaker 1: Johnny long Legs. A spider. We make animals ten times
[2:22] Speaker 1: our size jump in fear. Everyone, it seemed, was just
[2:28] Speaker 1: suggesting the animal that they were so Jude the sculptor
[2:33] Speaker 1: asked to speak naturally. The other animals expected him to
[2:38] Speaker 1: suggest a lion. How about a dragon, he suggested, to
[2:44] Speaker 1: their surprise. They're strong, have courage, and can be kind.
[2:51] Speaker 1: The other animals muttered it over, there were no dragons
[2:55] Speaker 1: living in Beastwood, so perhaps this might be the perfect sola, agreed,
[3:02] Speaker 1: announced mister Trunk. At long last, this meant that the
[3:08] Speaker 1: next morning Jude could begin carving in his workshop. He
[3:13] Speaker 1: had already selected a large piece of strong, dark oak,
[3:17] Speaker 1: and all his tools were laid out ready. He began
[3:22] Speaker 1: to study the wood, imagining the shape hidden within a
[3:26] Speaker 1: dragon with its claws, teeth, tail, and wings was going
[3:32] Speaker 1: to look truly magical. He started carving off large chunks,
[3:38] Speaker 1: and it didn't take long for the rough shape of
[3:40] Speaker 1: a dragon to appear. There were four legs, a long
[3:45] Speaker 1: neck and tail, and a pair of large folded wings
[3:49] Speaker 1: sprouting from its back. The bell above his workshop door dinged,
[3:55] Speaker 1: so Jude put down his tools and went out to
[3:58] Speaker 1: see who his visitor was. Stood inside the shop's door
[4:03] Speaker 1: was a genuine, real life dragon. He was large, with
[4:08] Speaker 1: scales of a shimmering emerald green. But Jude noted, instead
[4:14] Speaker 1: of his wings being on his back, this dragon's wings
[4:18] Speaker 1: were folded to become his front legs, rather like that
[4:22] Speaker 1: of a bat. Hello, said the green dragon, I understand
[4:28] Speaker 1: your carving a statue. May I have a quick glimpse? Well,
[4:34] Speaker 1: of course, Jude said, delighted, Please come through. He led
[4:40] Speaker 1: the green dragon to the space where the wooden block stood.
[4:45] Speaker 1: The dragon gasped, walking around it and admiring the work
[4:49] Speaker 1: that the lion had done. It's stunning, said the green dragon. Wonderful.
[4:56] Speaker 1: It will be a masterpiece. But may I make a
[5:00] Speaker 1: small suggestion. If you'd like to hear more, please join
[5:04] Speaker 1: our premium service. You can find out how in the description.
[5:09] Speaker 1: The premium service means you can listen to all animal
[5:12] Speaker 1: tales stories advert free, get bonus stories, and we guarantee
[5:17] Speaker 1: to turn your animal suggestion into a future tale. I
[5:21] Speaker 1: look forward to seeing you there
