The adverts are not chosen by us, but played automatically depending on the platform you listen through (Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc) and the country you live in. The adverts may even be different if you listen to the story twice. We have had a handful of instances where an advert has played that is not suitable for a family audience, despite the podcast clearly being labelled for children. If you’re concerned about an advert you hear, please contact the platform you are listening to directly. Spotify, in particular, has proven problematic in the past, for both inappropriate adverts and the volume at which the adverts play. If you find this happening, please let Spotify know via their Facebook customer care page. As creators, we want your child’s experience to be a pleasurable one. Running adverts is necessary to allow us to operate, but please do consider the premium subscription service as an alternative – it’s advert free.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome to a special taster of our new
[0:03] Speaker 1: premium only story. We hope you like it. Hell Yale, Hello,
[0:23] Speaker 1: I'm Josephine and this is the Animal Tales podcast, home
[0:27] Speaker 1: to over four hundred and fifty stories written just for you.
[0:32] Speaker 1: Our Friday story is especially for our Premium subscribers only.
[0:37] Speaker 1: Micah is a premium member for Massachusetts U s A.
[0:41] Speaker 1: And he would like a story with a puffin, a
[0:43] Speaker 1: golden eagle, a bison, and a right whale. Don't forget
[0:48] Speaker 1: to listen to the animal facts after the story to
[0:51] Speaker 1: learn more about these creatures. For now, it's time to
[0:55] Speaker 1: sit back and get comfy, because it's time to begin
[1:00] Speaker 1: the Bison's search for silence. It was ten o'clock at
[1:05] Speaker 1: night and Micah, a bison, was trying to read his book.
[1:10] Speaker 1: It was a good one about spaceships and aliens and
[1:14] Speaker 1: distant planets, and normally he would have raced through a
[1:18] Speaker 1: book that good, but on this occasion, it wasn't going
[1:22] Speaker 1: so well for Mica. At that very moment, through the ceiling,
[1:27] Speaker 1: he could hear his upstairs neighbors snoring. That was very distracting.
[1:33] Speaker 1: He could also hear cars speeding past outside their engines rumbling.
[1:39] Speaker 1: Micah could hear groups of animals laughing and talking as
[1:42] Speaker 1: they made their way home, and then there was the
[1:45] Speaker 1: continuous hum and clanking of the building's pipes, not to
[1:50] Speaker 1: mention a slow drip, drip, drip coming from somewhere. The
[1:56] Speaker 1: bison knew that living in the big city meant some noise,
[2:00] Speaker 1: but he'd never realized it would be so noisy all
[2:03] Speaker 1: of the time. He gave up, pulled the covers over
[2:07] Speaker 1: his head, and tried to sleep. The next morning, at breakfast,
[2:13] Speaker 1: Micha tried to read a few pages, but was distracted
[2:17] Speaker 1: by his neighbor stomping around as he vacuumed his flat,
[2:22] Speaker 1: so he headed out to his favorite corner cafe to
[2:25] Speaker 1: read with a hot chocolate. This was spoiled by a
[2:29] Speaker 1: noisy antelope talking loudly on her phone. He tried to
[2:34] Speaker 1: read on the bus, but the leopard sat next to
[2:37] Speaker 1: him was constantly bumping against his arm. He got back
[2:41] Speaker 1: home having barely read a single page. Micah decided that
[2:46] Speaker 1: he was surrounded by too many animals doing too many things,
[2:50] Speaker 1: and all of it noisily. He'd had enough if he
[2:55] Speaker 1: was ever going to read a book again. He was
[2:58] Speaker 1: going to have to move. I'd like to buy a
[3:01] Speaker 1: new house, he said to the Ostrich behind the desk
[3:04] Speaker 1: at the estate agent's. Then you've come to the right place.
[3:09] Speaker 1: The Ostrich beamed, what sort of property did you have
[3:13] Speaker 1: in mind? Somewhere far away and very very quiet, Micah replied.
[3:22] Speaker 1: As it turned out, the bison was in luck. Before
[3:26] Speaker 1: too long, Micah was packing up his things and saying
[3:30] Speaker 1: good bye to the big city. He was moving to
[3:33] Speaker 1: an island. His new house wasn't big or fancy, just
[3:38] Speaker 1: a cottage, a small garden of grass, and just beyond
[3:42] Speaker 1: a sandy beach. It was perfect. The island sat just
[3:47] Speaker 1: beyond the mainland, opposite towering cliffs, separated by a narrow
[3:52] Speaker 1: strip of water. The only noise was the gentle lapping
[3:57] Speaker 1: of the waves breaking upon the shore. The first thing
[4:01] Speaker 1: that Mica unpacked was his book. He took it straight
[4:05] Speaker 1: out on to the lawn, lay down on the grass,
[4:09] Speaker 1: and opened his book to read Hello, neighbor. Somewhat startled,
[4:15] Speaker 1: Mica lowered the book to find himself face to face
[4:19] Speaker 1: with a smiling puffin. Always good to have a new
[4:23] Speaker 1: face in the neighborhood. The puffin continued wonderful house you
[4:27] Speaker 1: have here, very peaceful. It's exactly what I wanted. Micah agreed.
[4:34] Speaker 1: I lived in the city before, and it was far
[4:37] Speaker 1: too loud. Oh, I understand, said the puffin, nodding enthusiastically.
[4:45] Speaker 1: Near my friends, we couldn't do city life. We much
[4:49] Speaker 1: prefer a sieve view. We live right over there. If
[4:53] Speaker 1: you'd like to hear more, please join our premium service.
[4:57] Speaker 1: You can find out how in the description. The premium
[5:01] Speaker 1: service means you can listen to all animal tales stories
[5:04] Speaker 1: advert free, get bonus stories, and we guarantee to turn
[5:09] Speaker 1: your animal suggestion into a future tale. I look forward
[5:13] Speaker 1: to seeing you there.
