[0:36] Speaker 3: it was.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Like Lauren London me alone. It was it was like
[0:40] Speaker 1: four or five names.
[0:41] Speaker 3: I love Lauren, you love her, I love her down,
[0:45] Speaker 3: she loves you.
[0:46] Speaker 2: I know we love each other. You know what's funny?
[0:48] Speaker 3: After I launched and did my Lauren episode, we talked
[0:51] Speaker 3: a lot about the pod because she loved what I
[0:53] Speaker 3: was doing.
[0:53] Speaker 2: And she always also would say, you need to have nea.
[0:57] Speaker 2: I'm like, I know, we're trying. That's my baby. She's amazing.
[1:02] Speaker 1: I think I don't know what was happening during that time,
[1:06] Speaker 1: but I remember we talked, well, oh, I do.
[1:08] Speaker 2: Know what was happened during that time.
[1:09] Speaker 1: And I didn't want to talk at all about anything,
[1:11] Speaker 1: and you weren't ready, but I did tell you.
[1:13] Speaker 2: I loved you and that I said I'd be here
[1:15] Speaker 2: one day, and here I am, and here you are today.
[1:20] Speaker 2: All right, let me do an intro for you. Guess
[1:23] Speaker 2: is been that it Girl?
[1:26] Speaker 3: An award winning actress and producer, this lady has spent
[1:29] Speaker 3: more than three decades defining culture, from classics like Love Jones,
[1:32] Speaker 3: Soul Food, best Man to her current role as Catherine Jackson.
[1:37] Speaker 3: She's built a longevity that is almost unheard of in Hollywood,
[1:41] Speaker 3: A true icon. Her name has become like hip hop
[1:44] Speaker 3: shorthand for the ideal woman.
[1:46] Speaker 2: I have a whole list of like all the rap songs.
[1:48] Speaker 3: You're in and off screen, she's remained the force in
[1:51] Speaker 3: beauty and fashion.
[1:52] Speaker 2: She just recently was starring in a Skims ad which
[1:55] Speaker 2: I saw her at the Skims event.
[1:57] Speaker 1: Yeah, she had a recent Playboy spread and she's become
[2:01] Speaker 1: the first ever North American brand ambassador for Este Lauder.
[2:05] Speaker 2: As long as our guest today on IRLS. So when
[2:09] Speaker 2: we first wanted you on, it was a weird time
[2:11] Speaker 2: in your life. But where are you now? What are
[2:14] Speaker 2: the headlines? Oh man?
[2:15] Speaker 1: This chapter, the headlines are I come in peace, but
[2:22] Speaker 1: I don't give a fuck. Is that a good that's
[2:25] Speaker 1: a good love that I think, and I think that
[2:27] Speaker 1: I come in peace. Part is I come with my
[2:30] Speaker 1: full self in peace, wanting to inspire. But I also
[2:33] Speaker 1: really know myself well and I'm i'm I'm so settled
[2:37] Speaker 1: in my in my skin and in my thoughts and
[2:40] Speaker 1: in my intentions that I don't second guess the things
[2:44] Speaker 1: that I know anymore.
[2:45] Speaker 2: And that's a really great place to be as.
[2:48] Speaker 4: A woman because you you, it just trims so much
[2:53] Speaker 4: of the fat and you get to just arrive and
[2:55] Speaker 4: be in the space that feels really comfy for you.
[2:59] Speaker 1: And sometimes it turns people off, but I don't that's
[3:01] Speaker 1: the part where you got on Gia.
[3:03] Speaker 3: I know that's the part. You have to grow into
[3:05] Speaker 3: it and not give a shit about.
[3:06] Speaker 2: You cannot care at all.
[3:10] Speaker 1: You can be kind, but I'm more interested in being
[3:13] Speaker 1: kind and finding the truth and being nice and having
[3:17] Speaker 1: power or sacrificing anything about your truth to overcompensate for
[3:24] Speaker 1: like trying to make somebody feel.
[3:25] Speaker 2: Warm, if fuzzy, yeah, comfortable?
[3:27] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[3:28] Speaker 2: Why do we do that? Why do we do that?
[3:29] Speaker 2: And why do we do that? For so long?
[3:30] Speaker 1: I think women are programmed to be the you know,
[3:35] Speaker 1: we're the elixir. We're the thing that smooths everything over,
[3:39] Speaker 1: and it's not always for us, it's for everyone else involved.
[3:43] Speaker 1: And so when you get to a certain age or like,
[3:45] Speaker 1: the only elixirs I'm putting on my face, I'm the
[3:48] Speaker 1: only elixir I'm interested are the ones that I'm putting
[3:50] Speaker 1: on my face, Advanced night repair, Like, let's do that.
[3:55] Speaker 2: But I don't want to have to do that for
[3:59] Speaker 2: situations and people that are adults that are responsible for
[4:02] Speaker 2: their choices.
[4:03] Speaker 3: And we all talk about that, and you know how
[4:07] Speaker 3: many people think, yeah, I don't give a fucking I'm like, no,
[4:09] Speaker 3: she does.
[4:10] Speaker 2: And then there's certain women I'm like, she, really, she
[4:12] Speaker 2: really doesn't. It's such a good thing.
[4:15] Speaker 1: And like I and I care about the things that
[4:18] Speaker 1: I should care about. I care about the things that
[4:20] Speaker 1: actually mean something to me. I care about humanity. I
[4:22] Speaker 1: care about the big things. But the little things, it's
[4:25] Speaker 1: I will bulldoze straight through them to get to my truth.
[4:28] Speaker 2: Will you not always like that? No?
[4:30] Speaker 1: I think I think I think I was, But it
[4:36] Speaker 1: was it was out of fear.
[4:38] Speaker 2: Now it's out of understanding of self.
[4:42] Speaker 1: You know, when you're born in Brooklyn, grew up in
[4:44] Speaker 1: South central you wake up one day in your twenties
[4:47] Speaker 1: and you're a star, You're like, who can I trust?
[4:51] Speaker 3: Especially when you're famous, it's hard because everybody wants a piece.
[4:54] Speaker 2: And everybody just they change and they think you've changed,
[4:58] Speaker 2: and it's like, no, I'm the same. Really, has fame
[5:01] Speaker 2: not changed you at all? I think?
[5:04] Speaker 1: I mean, I live such a normal life where I
[5:06] Speaker 1: go to the grocery store, I really.
[5:09] Speaker 2: Will have an assistant. I'm very like I have no assistance. No,
[5:13] Speaker 2: I can't deal. Who books your manicure? I do? Who?
[5:18] Speaker 2: Uh schedules the car to my team? So you have
[5:24] Speaker 2: a team.
[5:24] Speaker 1: I'm a team, but I don't have someone like wiping
[5:26] Speaker 1: my ass at home? But I don't have like a
[5:29] Speaker 1: personal at home ass. Is not that a systant is
[5:31] Speaker 1: supposed to wipe your ass?
[5:32] Speaker 2: That was horrible. I shouldn't say that.
[5:33] Speaker 1: But you know what I'm saying, Like, I don't have
[5:35] Speaker 1: the The cadence of my life is dictated by me
[5:38] Speaker 1: and my choices moment to moment if I stick it,
[5:41] Speaker 1: because I'm also I change my mind about those things
[5:45] Speaker 1: in a day, Like I might have a plan yesterday
[5:48] Speaker 1: to get up tomorrow and go to the gym, and
[5:50] Speaker 1: then get a wax, and then go get my nails done,
[5:53] Speaker 1: and then pick my son up from school and go
[5:55] Speaker 1: have sushi after school.
[5:57] Speaker 2: I could wake up and go, I'm not doing any
[5:59] Speaker 2: of that.
[5:59] Speaker 1: I'm actually gonna stay right here in my bed and
[6:04] Speaker 1: I'm gonna call you know.
[6:06] Speaker 2: I always go get my baby from school. But I.
[6:10] Speaker 1: Really try to honor myself in the moments when I can,
[6:13] Speaker 1: because there's so many moments when I can't. You know
[6:15] Speaker 1: what it's like when you have to show up a
[6:19] Speaker 1: certain way. You have to have those conversations, those prayerful moments,
[6:24] Speaker 1: the meditation, the reinforcement, and you have to have people
[6:27] Speaker 1: around you who understand who you are and know how
[6:29] Speaker 1: to be supportive of what your demands are.
[6:33] Speaker 2: I love that being able to switch your day like that,
[6:35] Speaker 2: especially if you have an off day. Oh it's so good.
[6:38] Speaker 3: My mother was at my house the other day and
[6:39] Speaker 3: I was in pajamas all day watching dumb ass shit
[6:42] Speaker 3: on TV, and she went out and she did dish.
[6:45] Speaker 3: My mother can't sit still and she comes back and
[6:48] Speaker 3: she's like, you're still in the bed in your pajamas.
[6:51] Speaker 2: I said, yes, can you believe Yes, I am, And
[6:55] Speaker 2: it's amazing, and I don't want any judgment at all.
[7:00] Speaker 1: Learn this, and we have to give ourselves those days
[7:02] Speaker 1: I know we need because they're like reset days, you know,
[7:06] Speaker 1: where you just do nothing and you decide, you know.
[7:09] Speaker 1: I find that those days are really like the moments
[7:13] Speaker 1: when I can think about designing my week. I do
[7:19] Speaker 1: that usually after the farmer's market every Sunday, I sit
[7:23] Speaker 1: and I designed my week.
[7:24] Speaker 2: How does that calendar out?
[7:26] Speaker 1: I go to the farmer's market, get all the fresh juices, dips.
[7:31] Speaker 1: I'm a dip girl. Are you a dip girl? No,
[7:33] Speaker 1: but I'm interested.
[7:35] Speaker 2: You got to come to law to be a dip girl.
[7:37] Speaker 2: I'm interested and I'm down.
[7:39] Speaker 1: I'm delf this for that. I would like to try
[7:41] Speaker 1: that some hummus. Okay, sure, like little dips. So I
[7:45] Speaker 1: go and I do that.
[7:45] Speaker 2: Are you by yourself when you do this?
[7:47] Speaker 1: I take my son, Okay, he's big gas well, because
[7:50] Speaker 1: he's I play the victim a little bit. I'm like,
[7:53] Speaker 1: mommy really needs you to carry the back.
[7:56] Speaker 2: I can't. It's true. Like I'm like, okay, how he's fourteen,
[7:59] Speaker 2: but he's it's almost six feet.
[8:01] Speaker 1: Tak okay, And he still was like okay mom, Yeah, no,
[8:03] Speaker 1: we're we're real close. We have a special that's my guy.
[8:08] Speaker 1: And then my older one just moved back home. I'm
[8:10] Speaker 1: so now I have both of my babies.
[8:12] Speaker 2: Yea nice. Yeah, it's weird when they go away and
[8:16] Speaker 2: they come back, right, It's weird when they go away
[8:18] Speaker 2: and come back with a girlfriend. Oh, how is that? Well,
[8:23] Speaker 2: he's had the same girlfriend for a long time. She's lovely.
[8:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, But it's also what's challenging is when you have
[8:32] Speaker 1: to say to them it's time to grow up.
[8:37] Speaker 2: Have you had that conversation?
[8:39] Speaker 1: Part of it is understanding the world that they're in,
[8:42] Speaker 1: and then the other part of it, I think for
[8:44] Speaker 1: me is knowing when, okay, give me my titty back.
[8:56] Speaker 2: Really, but what does that look like in the real world?
[8:58] Speaker 2: Do you like cut you off? Like?
[9:01] Speaker 1: No, it's it's it's it's a grace that you give them.
[9:04] Speaker 1: It's being supportive, it's being there to kind of help
[9:08] Speaker 1: them through but not coddling, but not coddling and holding accountable.
[9:12] Speaker 1: And if you say you're going to do something, you
[9:13] Speaker 1: need to do it and get yourself organized and have
[9:17] Speaker 1: yourself prepared. You're not as smart though, right, He's really smart.
[9:21] Speaker 1: Both of my kids are like smarter than me for sure.
[9:23] Speaker 2: Really, I think, So, how do you do that as
[9:24] Speaker 2: a mom? I don't know this. I'm sure it came
[9:27] Speaker 2: for me.
[9:28] Speaker 1: Let me just take all the credit right now, right kidding.
[9:34] Speaker 1: I talk to them a lot. We talk about everything,
[9:37] Speaker 1: and I'm inappropriate sometimes and they love it and they
[9:41] Speaker 1: know that no matter how busy I am, I'm there
[9:45] Speaker 1: for them. But I also say, like I'm going in
[9:48] Speaker 1: my room, do not bother me, and I close my
[9:51] Speaker 1: door and I stay there for as long as I
[9:54] Speaker 1: need to and they don't bother you.
[9:55] Speaker 2: No.
[9:56] Speaker 3: Sometimes on the pile, we've had conversations about like CARTI
[9:59] Speaker 3: was here. It's talking about how it was important for
[10:01] Speaker 3: her to teach her son.
[10:05] Speaker 2: How to treat women. You know, no is no and
[10:11] Speaker 2: you know just what was the other one?
[10:13] Speaker 1: Oh and and karma, how you treat women will come back.
[10:18] Speaker 2: To you and you know it was something like for her.
[10:20] Speaker 3: So I just wonder for you with your two boys,
[10:22] Speaker 3: like what were your I mean, obviously you made them
[10:25] Speaker 3: smart somehow you had that whenever it was.
[10:28] Speaker 1: Well they but I think I think you there's you know,
[10:33] Speaker 1: my older son is very interested in facts and the
[10:37] Speaker 1: world and uh like kind of like he's very entrepreneurial,
[10:42] Speaker 1: but he's there's a he can fix anything. I didn't
[10:46] Speaker 1: teach him that. I think people are just wired the
[10:48] Speaker 1: way they're wired. And then my my younger one is
[10:52] Speaker 1: he's a Scorpio like me. He's very he's more emotional,
[10:56] Speaker 1: but he's like his his i Q and his EQ,
[11:00] Speaker 1: especially his EQ is off the chain. He's like, well
[11:03] Speaker 1: that wasn't very.
[11:06] Speaker 2: What did he say the other day?
[11:10] Speaker 1: Where's the emotional maturity in all of this? Like you know,
[11:13] Speaker 1: like he he and I love that. I love that
[11:17] Speaker 1: because imagine what kind of man he's going to be
[11:19] Speaker 1: to understand these things that we are struggling with as
[11:22] Speaker 1: women with men to connect. So he understands that and
[11:26] Speaker 1: I try to teach them both. They both have it,
[11:29] Speaker 1: but he but the little one was almost born with it.
[11:34] Speaker 2: Wow, Like he has this.
[11:38] Speaker 1: Innate understanding of life and his own feelings or you
[11:44] Speaker 1: can express them. Yes, if I do something, he's he says, well, listen,
[11:49] Speaker 1: I can I explain to you how that made me feel?
[11:51] Speaker 1: And I'm like, yes, doctor Udoka, please please tell me.
[11:58] Speaker 1: And he breaks it down that and I just said,
[12:01] Speaker 1: like if you can break it down like that, I'm
[12:03] Speaker 1: going to take all accountability every single thing you just said.
[12:06] Speaker 2: And you are raising.
[12:07] Speaker 1: Someone's husband, someone's future husband. Yes, and they should be
[12:12] Speaker 1: very grateful to you. Yes, that their future husband will
[12:17] Speaker 1: be emotionally mature. Yeah, which is what a lot of
[12:21] Speaker 1: women are struggling with these times. I thought I was
[12:25] Speaker 1: the only one, and then I realized, like, oh, everyone's
[12:28] Speaker 1: this is a thing, what with men being challenged in
[12:32] Speaker 1: that area. Oh yes, I mean historically though, So.
[12:36] Speaker 2: I don't know what planet I've been on a D.
[12:38] Speaker 2: I thought it.
[12:39] Speaker 1: I thought I didn't really, I really just thought it
[12:44] Speaker 1: was the ones I was picking.
[12:46] Speaker 2: Did you thought you were choosing all of the emotionally
[12:51] Speaker 2: choosing all changed guys in the planet. No, they're everywhere.

[14:42] Speaker 2: You know, boff no, what is that? But it's it
[14:45] Speaker 2: like a West Indian thing? You buffin me? Don't buff me?
[14:48] Speaker 2: What is it like? Don't don't give me a hard time?
[14:51] Speaker 1: Got it because you're because you're not on the same
[14:54] Speaker 1: page emotionally as I am. I need you to just
[14:57] Speaker 1: be open. Well, what does that look like for you?
[14:59] Speaker 1: Because maybe our versions the different to me?
[15:00] Speaker 3: I think an emotionally healthy man, yes, and we'll we'll
[15:08] Speaker 3: talk about that made me feel insecure, or that made
[15:12] Speaker 3: that hurt my feelings, or that made me that didn't
[15:16] Speaker 3: make me feel connected to you or whatever the real
[15:21] Speaker 3: thing is, versus acting up, versus deflecting or just heaven
[15:26] Speaker 3: an attitude or whatever things they do to cover up
[15:30] Speaker 3: from actually just saying right, how you feel about something right?
[15:34] Speaker 3: That's your version of its time too, Yeah, the version
[15:37] Speaker 3: of that challenging for.
[15:38] Speaker 2: Something that's I don't think it's even in their DNA.
[15:41] Speaker 1: Well not your son, clopp man in this room, if
[15:44] Speaker 1: that's in your DNA.
[15:49] Speaker 2: With glam because you spent a lot of time with women,
[15:52] Speaker 2: I'm sure. Yeah, you see. So there's one, two, there's
[15:59] Speaker 2: like six men in here. Nobody clapped. Oh you got
[16:03] Speaker 2: back with the wine, bringing it, bringing.
[16:05] Speaker 1: The wait, but you're doing manly things?
[16:08] Speaker 2: Are the one, two, three, four, five? Six men in here?
[16:12] Speaker 2: How seven? How many of you think you're emotionally mature?
[16:17] Speaker 2: All of you? Are you married? Who's married? Only two?
[16:23] Speaker 1: Only?
[16:24] Speaker 2: Two? Okay? Do your wife think you're emotionally mature? Roger
[16:28] Speaker 2: behind the camera.
[16:31] Speaker 1: So yeah, okay, so you're good. Okay, you're good. She
[16:39] Speaker 1: did good. She's she did good.
[16:44] Speaker 2: It taught you, she told you, she trained you. But
[16:48] Speaker 2: but here's the thing. Yeah, but can we bring the
[16:50] Speaker 2: wine first? For I have this thought, are we drinking wine?
[16:51] Speaker 2: Out of red cups. Oh, we are so good, right, No, no,
[16:54] Speaker 2: let's do these glasses. I will even get rid of
[16:57] Speaker 2: my water. Wait, I don't want to forget the start. No,
[17:03] Speaker 2: we won't tell me.
[17:05] Speaker 3: Fuck me, I already forgot it. No, here it is
[17:07] Speaker 3: wine first cheers. Hello, Oh my gosh, thank you finally
[17:12] Speaker 3: made it.
[17:12] Speaker 2: Can you imagine? Mm hmmm. So what I was thinking was.
[17:19] Speaker 3: M we were talking about emotionally challenged men. Yes, I
[17:26] Speaker 3: often wonder, and just not in my not just in myself,
[17:30] Speaker 3: but my friends, my girlfriends who date a type of man. Right,
[17:35] Speaker 3: and then when you decided a point in your life,
[17:38] Speaker 3: I need a different type of man. Yeah, because I
[17:44] Speaker 3: would imagine you've had this experience when you're in that
[17:48] Speaker 3: moment of like I have, I need to choose different.
[17:51] Speaker 2: Type of man. Maybe I should leave the balls at
[17:55] Speaker 2: the gym. I need a different genre. Can men be genres? Yeah?
[18:02] Speaker 2: I can't be sure. Why not they put us some genres?
[18:04] Speaker 2: They sure do. So, by the way, what genre are
[18:07] Speaker 2: we in?
[18:09] Speaker 1: Well, now, I'm afraid to say, because we're fifties, we're
[18:12] Speaker 1: kind of like coogar genre. I'm not I'm never gonna
[18:15] Speaker 1: be that. And I don't and do not call me
[18:17] Speaker 1: an auntie.
[18:18] Speaker 2: Oh my god, I will kill you. I will kill you, yeah, will.
[18:22] Speaker 1: Unless I'm actually your auntie exactly, then it's okay.
[18:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, because if I am not, I don't know what.
[18:30] Speaker 2: I don't even know you. I don't know you. Why
[18:32] Speaker 2: Why am I your auntie? That's gotta go. Not good?
[18:37] Speaker 1: Okay, So those are the categories they put us in.
[18:39] Speaker 1: What are the categories that we put them in?
[18:43] Speaker 2: Baller?
[18:44] Speaker 1: Baller?
[18:46] Speaker 2: I mean one of the other categories. We don't even know.
[18:49] Speaker 2: That's how badly we need to sway a minute. Have
[18:52] Speaker 2: you only dated athletes? No? No, you are married to
[18:55] Speaker 2: an actor. No, he's not an actor. He he was contractor.
[19:02] Speaker 1: And I'm on set or something right now, because the
[19:07] Speaker 1: Internet just makes it up.
[19:08] Speaker 2: Okay, so he was a contract and.
[19:10] Speaker 1: I've never been married, by the way, you weren't married.
[19:15] Speaker 1: I have two beautiful children.
[19:18] Speaker 2: I was engaged twice. He's got some rings.
[19:20] Speaker 1: I do have some rings, and I will keep my
[19:23] Speaker 1: rings as you should, because I've earned those rings.
[19:26] Speaker 2: Yea, had they dare anybody dare ever? Never?
[19:29] Speaker 1: Okay, Now, listen, my children's fathers and I are good, good,
[19:37] Speaker 1: especially now I feel like now, like we're all really friends.
[19:41] Speaker 2: Like we can all go to dinner, we can all
[19:43] Speaker 2: like we're good. Yeah, because you're passed the hump. We're
[19:46] Speaker 2: past the hump. Yeah.
[19:48] Speaker 1: And it taught me a lot about my capacity to love,
[19:52] Speaker 1: like to be able to love beyond what was expected
[19:57] Speaker 1: at one time, and just to know that, like, I'm
[20:01] Speaker 1: going to have that connection with you for the rest
[20:03] Speaker 1: of my life. My children are gonna be connected to
[20:05] Speaker 1: you for the rest of my life. So why make
[20:07] Speaker 1: it miserable. We can put our differences in the past.
[20:11] Speaker 2: We can forgive. How does that take a long time?
[20:15] Speaker 1: And I have to keep talking this talk so I
[20:17] Speaker 1: could walk the walk.
[20:19] Speaker 2: Oh are you convincing yourself while you're telling me?
[20:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, because there's days when you're like is the but no, No,
[20:26] Speaker 1: I'm not convincing myself.
[20:27] Speaker 2: But I refuse to not stay in the light in
[20:31] Speaker 2: this area. I refuse to.
[20:34] Speaker 1: I refuse to go the dark side of of separation and.
[20:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, cull parenting because it can be dark and lonely. Yeah.
[20:43] Speaker 1: Oh no, I'm sure, yes, yes, and it can be
[20:47] Speaker 1: I'm not just sure I actually know yes that yes.
[20:50] Speaker 2: In fact, So what is the key to that? Because even.
[20:56] Speaker 3: The time when I was what year did we launch
[20:58] Speaker 3: the pot? When were we trying to book you? And
[20:59] Speaker 3: that you were going you had just come off of
[21:01] Speaker 3: that whole public thing. Was that twenty twenty three? It's
[21:05] Speaker 3: like three years ago, four years three, four years ago.
[21:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't even remember the year at this point. Okay,
[21:10] Speaker 2: is it a blur? Is that whole time period of
[21:12] Speaker 2: blur for you? No, not even a blur. It was
[21:15] Speaker 2: you know, it was, it happened, and yeh, that's it.
[21:21] Speaker 2: It is what it is. It is what it is.
[21:22] Speaker 2: What are the takeaways from you? Do you uprate like this?
[21:25] Speaker 1: Because whenever I have, you know, a defining kind of
[21:29] Speaker 1: moment in my life, I always will sit with it
[21:31] Speaker 1: for a little while. Okay, what are the takeaways for me?
[21:34] Speaker 1: What did I need to what did I need to learn?
[21:36] Speaker 1: What did I need to be shown? What did I
[21:37] Speaker 1: need to pivot or change?
[21:38] Speaker 2: Or I don't know. That's how I manage those type
[21:41] Speaker 2: of situations.
[21:42] Speaker 1: And I think that was that's it's it's personal and
[21:45] Speaker 1: it's internal, right, like those things that you go, oh well,
[21:48] Speaker 1: I we were talking about this before we started about
[21:51] Speaker 1: how women have the ability to be whatever they need
[21:53] Speaker 1: to be in whatever situation, and oftentimes that means you're
[21:56] Speaker 1: sacrificing a piece of yourself that you should not be
[22:00] Speaker 1: ever sacrificing. And so I think we've all been there,
[22:02] Speaker 1: and I think I was there. I think I was.
[22:04] Speaker 1: I was raising two kids, we were innate. It's there,
[22:08] Speaker 1: were in the middle of a pandemic, and I but
[22:10] Speaker 1: it was the best thing that ever happened to me
[22:12] Speaker 1: because it allowed me to pause. It allowed me to
[22:16] Speaker 1: pause and look at all the wonderful things that I
[22:20] Speaker 1: had done throughout the time that I was in that relationship.
[22:25] Speaker 1: But now I can pour everything back into myself. So
[22:28] Speaker 1: it's not about him. It's not about the the It
[22:32] Speaker 1: wasn't about them, the things, the headlines or any of
[22:35] Speaker 1: it. It wasn't about the healthy minds. It wasn't about the opinions.
[22:38] Speaker 1: It wasn't about the trash ass assistant. It wasn't about
[22:41] Speaker 1: any of that. It was about how do I preserve
[22:47] Speaker 1: what's left and the new way my family is now?
[22:52] Speaker 2: Like who are we now? Because I could just.
[22:57] Speaker 1: Walk away and never talk to you ever again, and
[23:00] Speaker 1: how does that affect my son?
[23:03] Speaker 2: No, I'm not going to do that. So you decide
[23:06] Speaker 2: I'm going to be as light. I'm going to go
[23:08] Speaker 2: into the light.
[23:08] Speaker 1: I'll let you know what time it is. I'm not
[23:11] Speaker 1: going to pretend like some shit didn't happen, but I'm
[23:13] Speaker 1: going to also be forgiving and be your friend. And
[23:16] Speaker 1: that's good, that's healthy.
[23:19] Speaker 2: Quickly you do that, not that quickly. It's not quickly.
[23:24] Speaker 1: It takes time and everyone should take their time. And
[23:27] Speaker 1: it's not for everyone. But we're talking about like the healing, right,
[23:31] Speaker 1: we're talking about the family unit.
[23:33] Speaker 2: We're talking about how.
[23:34] Speaker 1: Do you how do you grow from how do you
[23:39] Speaker 1: grow after a breakup?
[23:41] Speaker 2: How do you? Who are you after a breakup? That's
[23:44] Speaker 2: that's really what we're saying. That's what we're talking about.
[23:45] Speaker 1: Because even in whether it was that one or even
[23:47] Speaker 1: your first relationship or whatever relationship, you every.
[23:50] Speaker 2: Time you come out, you're knowing, yeah, you're a different person. Yeah,
[23:55] Speaker 2: how is that informed? Where you are now?
[23:57] Speaker 1: Marriage was never like, oh I have to be married,
[24:01] Speaker 1: not for you.
[24:02] Speaker 2: Never felt I've never felt that.
[24:04] Speaker 5: You took the rings though you had the intention you
[24:07] Speaker 5: were going to and listen, I thought I would, yeah,
[24:12] Speaker 5: but I wasn't the girl that said we have to
[24:15] Speaker 5: be married right now?
[24:16] Speaker 1: Especially now that we're having a child, Like it was
[24:18] Speaker 1: more important for me to be a mother than a wife.
[24:21] Speaker 2: Well and a good mother, right, and a good mother.
[24:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, like I because I knew that I had my
[24:27] Speaker 1: own career and I didn't want to like not have
[24:31] Speaker 1: a child. I know so many women in this industry
[24:34] Speaker 1: who wait and wait and wait, and then they get
[24:37] Speaker 1: to a place where it's not possible and it's heartbreaking. Yeah,
[24:41] Speaker 1: and some.
[24:42] Speaker 2: Choose not to.
[24:43] Speaker 1: And I respect that too, Like, whatever your choice is,
[24:45] Speaker 1: I respect that. But I knew for me that being
[24:49] Speaker 1: a mother was not an option. It was it had
[24:53] Speaker 1: to happen, and so I I.
[25:01] Speaker 2: I picked you, and you prioritized that.
[25:04] Speaker 1: And I prioritized that. And I had good relationships with
[25:07] Speaker 1: both of their dads and I still do.
[25:09] Speaker 2: Yeah. But when I was talking to.
[25:11] Speaker 1: Massi's dad the other day and I was like, hey,
[25:13] Speaker 1: what should I do about because he's really good with
[25:15] Speaker 1: like kind, He's like, oh, you should do blah blah, okay, cool,
[25:17] Speaker 1: thanks you good, He's like yeah, And then my son
[25:20] Speaker 1: came over.
[25:21] Speaker 2: I go, I ordered two brooms from Amazon.
[25:24] Speaker 1: You should take this to your dad for his new place,
[25:27] Speaker 1: you know, Like it's just like that's basic stuff.
[25:29] Speaker 2: But it's the way we get down. Yeah, but it's friendly.
[25:32] Speaker 2: It's like a friend. It's like, yeah, it's a friendly environment.
[25:36] Speaker 2: But there's also boundaries. Oh yeah, there's a big one.
[25:39] Speaker 1: They would have to be yeah, right, because otherwise they'd
[25:42] Speaker 1: just be a hot mess. And your kids are probably
[25:46] Speaker 1: so much better for it and happy for it and
[25:48] Speaker 1: emotionally intelligent. Because you talk, I would imagine, just based
[25:52] Speaker 1: on what you said about.
[25:53] Speaker 2: How you mother that, Oh, I'm very honest.
[25:56] Speaker 1: I was going to say that there's been a lot
[25:57] Speaker 1: of dialogue, absolutely very honest about Like, listen, these are
[26:03] Speaker 1: the shortcomings, These are the strengths, These are the things
[26:07] Speaker 1: you should think about. These are my strengths, strengths, these
[26:10] Speaker 1: are my shortcomings.
[26:12] Speaker 2: Are you good at that? I am? You paused?
[26:16] Speaker 1: I mean, because I'm like, what are my shortcomings? Patients,
[26:20] Speaker 1: I'm the most impatient person. I guess that could sometimes
[26:24] Speaker 1: you know, I'm not patient at all. Also, sometimes women
[26:29] Speaker 1: who know what they want and are I don't know.
[26:33] Speaker 1: Sometimes I don't know, Like we don't see our own
[26:36] Speaker 1: shortcomings as clearly because we're so focused on what we
[26:39] Speaker 1: or because I read something one of you in the
[26:43] Speaker 1: packet about Laurence Fishburne would critique you in the first movie.
[26:49] Speaker 2: Is that true? Or he gave me some critique that
[26:50] Speaker 2: may do better?
[26:52] Speaker 3: He gave me and I thought, I wonder how she
[26:54] Speaker 3: deals with somebody pointing out something she could do better.
[26:59] Speaker 1: I love it, you do, okay, I really, especially if
[27:01] Speaker 1: if I respect the person.
[27:03] Speaker 2: I I just went to a whole round of a place.
[27:04] Speaker 2: But there's something about.
[27:05] Speaker 1: There's something about that that shows up in every area
[27:08] Speaker 1: of your life. Exact ability to take creative criticism. It's
[27:12] Speaker 1: also the ability to know that if I respect this
[27:15] Speaker 1: person in there, he was also at the time, I
[27:17] Speaker 1: was an ingenue and he was a big stage right,
[27:21] Speaker 1: So I'm going to take heed to what my I
[27:25] Speaker 1: don't want to say elders, but what the generation of
[27:27] Speaker 1: grapes came before me, what they have to say.
[27:30] Speaker 2: And you knew that even in that time.
[27:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, because I was struggling in the scene, because remember
[27:36] Speaker 1: the reaction in the scene is when this is boys boysthood,
[27:39] Speaker 1: you're twenty almost twenty or not even nineteen something in there, Wow,
[27:45] Speaker 1: and Ricky gets shot.
[27:47] Speaker 2: But that's not happening in real time.
[27:51] Speaker 1: It's a STEADI cam shot of me running across the
[27:54] Speaker 1: ground the yard.
[27:56] Speaker 2: Ricky just got shot. The shot goes to.
[28:00] Speaker 1: Laurence Fishburne, then to QBA and then it goes across
[28:05] Speaker 1: the street and you see what has happened.
[28:08] Speaker 2: So I am the.
[28:10] Speaker 1: Messenger of the bad news. So I had to come
[28:13] Speaker 1: in hot and I had never done that before. So
[28:17] Speaker 1: the first time I came in hot, but I wasn't
[28:20] Speaker 1: hot enough. And Laurence Fishburne took me to the side
[28:24] Speaker 1: and he said, I want you to think about what
[28:26] Speaker 1: you're doing right now and what just happened.
[28:30] Speaker 2: Now go do it again and be hysterical. And I
[28:32] Speaker 2: was like, okay.
[28:34] Speaker 1: And I was afraid because I'm young, not afraid of
[28:36] Speaker 1: him because he was lovely to me, but just wanted
[28:39] Speaker 1: to get it right.
[28:42] Speaker 2: And it was good and it worked. What did you do?
[28:46] Speaker 2: How do you get there? I didn't have time to
[28:48] Speaker 2: think about it. It was like, just go And what
[28:52] Speaker 2: it was is I didn't I didn't allow myself to
[28:56] Speaker 2: feel self conscious.
[28:59] Speaker 1: And I think that's big when you're a young actor,
[29:01] Speaker 1: is like you just don't feel self conscious.
[29:03] Speaker 2: Just be in that moment, just do what needs to
[29:06] Speaker 2: be done. Yeah, don't worry about how you look. Don't
[29:08] Speaker 2: worry about how you look or how somebody's receiving what
[29:10] Speaker 2: you're doing.
[29:12] Speaker 1: That's as long as my light is right and the
[29:14] Speaker 1: camera's in the right place, not your light. In a minute,
[29:19] Speaker 1: I'm gonna start bringing my own lights to set.
[29:21] Speaker 2: We try to have good lights here. You do have
[29:23] Speaker 2: good lights. They're good.
[29:25] Speaker 1: They're the type of lights that you can like do
[29:27] Speaker 1: good stuff in post right if you need to, if
[29:30] Speaker 1: you need to.
[29:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know, I'm a film baby.
[29:34] Speaker 1: So I went from like lights being and an actor
[29:38] Speaker 1: like almost like another character on set to.
[29:44] Speaker 2: A digital world, which is a lot different, which is
[29:48] Speaker 2: very tricky.
[29:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, because the key for me, I think my superpower
[29:53] Speaker 1: is when my eyes are lit, because then I don't
[29:55] Speaker 1: have to say much.
[29:57] Speaker 2: Do you absolutely ask for it?
[29:59] Speaker 1: You do ask for so you have, like a seasoned
[30:02] Speaker 1: director or somebody else say and you're like, Hi, I
[30:06] Speaker 1: need these babies right here, and you asked for that.
[30:10] Speaker 2: Your eyes? What is it about the knee? What is
[30:13] Speaker 2: it about the knea? Long eyes? I don't know, tell me.
[30:15] Speaker 2: Look at them. I know they're pretty good. They're like,
[30:19] Speaker 2: what are these chestnuts? The chestnut brown? I'm in shape
[30:24] Speaker 2: now they've served you boo.
[30:27] Speaker 1: I think I think it's like the eyes are, you know,
[30:31] Speaker 1: the windows to the soul. It's it's like cliche to
[30:34] Speaker 1: say that, but I think it's true. What I see
[30:40] Speaker 1: is what I've seen in my life can be seen
[30:42] Speaker 1: in my eyes. So if you're expressing a story, you're
[30:45] Speaker 1: expressing them through what you've seen and what you're looking at.
[30:50] Speaker 1: But there's a part of your past that always shows up.
[30:52] Speaker 1: So it could be pain, it could be joy, it
[30:54] Speaker 1: could be love, it could be hate, it could be
[30:57] Speaker 1: there's light and dark.
[30:58] Speaker 2: There in the eyes, in the eyes and the eyes chicle.
[31:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, have you ever looked at someone
[31:04] Speaker 1: and seen nothing in their eyes? They're just like nothing
[31:07] Speaker 1: there Ooh those people scare me. Yeah, I don't know
[31:11] Speaker 1: that I've ever, Oh I have. They're like, it's not often,
[31:15] Speaker 1: they're like almost. I wonder if we're talking about the
[31:18] Speaker 1: same person.
[31:21] Speaker 2: I'll tell you it. Cut the cameras. There's a person
[31:25] Speaker 2: whose eyes look like.
[31:26] Speaker 1: That to me that we know that we know that
[31:30] Speaker 1: I've been around many times.
[31:31] Speaker 3: It's actually two people I've been around. So yes, I
[31:34] Speaker 3: know exactly what you're talking about. And it is scary
[31:36] Speaker 3: and I always wonder am I reading into that too much?
[31:39] Speaker 3: Or is it drugs?
[31:40] Speaker 1: Is it alcohol? Is it lack of sleep? Or why
[31:43] Speaker 1: does it always look like that? Or is there something
[31:45] Speaker 1: in the.
[31:45] Speaker 2: Soul that's off.
[31:47] Speaker 1: It's probably all that, Yeah, all of those things. It
[31:51] Speaker 1: takes time to get there, to have nothing in your eyes?
[31:54] Speaker 2: What do you think? That is.
[31:58] Speaker 1: Probably a certain amount of just not willing to connect
[32:03] Speaker 1: to anything. You're like robotic, you're dead inside.
[32:08] Speaker 2: Sorry that sounded very harsh, but that's the same. I
[32:12] Speaker 2: think we're saying the same thing. You're dead to me.
[32:15] Speaker 2: That's such a good show. I love that show. Oh
[32:18] Speaker 2: that is a good show. What are you watching? What
[32:19] Speaker 2: are you doing for fun these days?
[32:21] Speaker 1: Like?
[32:21] Speaker 2: What are your things?
[32:22] Speaker 1: I just started watching It's getting hummus on Sundays. I
[32:26] Speaker 1: just started watching the JFK Junior.
[32:30] Speaker 2: The Love Story was the name of it? So good?
[32:32] Speaker 2: What's the name of the show? A love story? Yeah?
[32:34] Speaker 2: A love story? Yeah, I just started watching a love story.
[32:36] Speaker 2: I love it. I loved it. It was so well done.
[32:39] Speaker 2: I didn't expect to love it as that. I thought, oh,
[32:42] Speaker 2: this would be cute, I'll watch it. Takes that No,
[32:44] Speaker 2: but it was good.
[32:46] Speaker 1: And you know what, It reminded me of It reminded
[32:48] Speaker 1: me of the nineties when I was walking down Fifth
[32:51] Speaker 1: Avenue and he jogged right past me. K junior job right, Pat,
[32:58] Speaker 1: I didn't turn my words out. We locked eyes and
[33:01] Speaker 1: I said, that is a fine ash. And I was
[33:04] Speaker 1: so young. I didn't know who he was. And I
[33:05] Speaker 1: didn't until like later, and you were like, oh my god.
[33:09] Speaker 1: But I had a moment with him, Like we had
[33:12] Speaker 1: a moment.
[33:12] Speaker 2: Did he know it was you? I don't think he
[33:14] Speaker 2: knew it was me.
[33:15] Speaker 1: I think it was, well, you didn't know it was him.
[33:16] Speaker 1: This is like I think it was just like, oh,
[33:19] Speaker 1: you're cute.
[33:20] Speaker 2: That's like wow.
[33:23] Speaker 1: And we had like I was like, I get it.
[33:30] Speaker 1: People say that I don't know if we had a
[33:31] Speaker 1: charisma about him that like you cannot eat. Well, you
[33:34] Speaker 1: could see it in the film. You can't even explain it.
[33:37] Speaker 1: It was just like I was literally and I will
[33:40] Speaker 1: never forget this. I was literally walking and he was
[33:44] Speaker 1: coming this way, and I felt this energy and I
[33:47] Speaker 1: was like and we went and then he was gone.
[33:50] Speaker 1: And then I was like, I gotta go to work. Yeah,
[33:55] Speaker 1: why was he already with the girl? I don't think
[33:58] Speaker 1: in retrospect now. No, No, I think he was. I
[34:01] Speaker 1: could have had.
[34:01] Speaker 2: It have been your soul me and you miss could have,
[34:04] Speaker 2: But then I wouldn't be here right now? Well, then
[34:06] Speaker 2: that would really sad? You like him? God bless them
[34:09] Speaker 2: a sad story? Yeah? Are you like that?
[34:13] Speaker 1: Like a romantic in that way where I saw him
[34:16] Speaker 1: on the train and the doors closed and that could
[34:18] Speaker 1: have been him?
[34:19] Speaker 2: I feel like you have that in you a little bit.
[34:21] Speaker 1: I I I think.
[34:25] Speaker 2: New love and newness inspires like a visceral reaction in
[34:31] Speaker 2: your body. I believe in that.
[34:33] Speaker 1: I'm still does that change? No, but now it just
[34:37] Speaker 1: doesn't last as long. When I start seeing red flags,
[34:39] Speaker 1: I'm like, let me turn this channel?
[34:43] Speaker 2: Channel? Is that what you call it? Channel? New show,
[34:49] Speaker 2: new channel, new new network?
[34:52] Speaker 1: But are you still open to that? Like, I don't know,
[34:55] Speaker 1: are you still open to like the grand kind of love?
[34:58] Speaker 2: Yes? Why wouldn't you still? Like? Like, do you look
[35:02] Speaker 2: for it?
[35:02] Speaker 1: I am more concerned about being that so that I
[35:05] Speaker 1: attract it than I.
[35:07] Speaker 2: Am looking for it.
[35:09] Speaker 1: You can't want something if you're not at your best.
[35:11] Speaker 1: So it's like a lot of self work.
[35:13] Speaker 2: What does that look like? Though? The thing for me
[35:15] Speaker 2: the thing you deserve. What does that look like?
[35:18] Speaker 3: Oh gosh, come on, I will have especially if you
[35:22] Speaker 3: know it then it will say it.
[35:23] Speaker 2: It will, but it's personal, not what I want.
[35:26] Speaker 3: But I'll give you a couple of things because that's
[35:28] Speaker 3: also might come and try to trick you.
[35:30] Speaker 2: Listen after the thing that was a sound bite about
[35:34] Speaker 2: dating younger.
[35:35] Speaker 1: Now I'm like, that's right, And I was like, this
[35:39] Speaker 1: is why you can never do a SoundBite that doesn't
[35:41] Speaker 1: actually show the full conversation.
[35:43] Speaker 2: See in the nineties we didn't have that.
[35:44] Speaker 1: I know the whole It wasn't bad though, because here's
[35:48] Speaker 1: a reality. I think women should date whoever they want
[35:52] Speaker 1: to date, and I don't think that age matters. I mean,
[35:57] Speaker 1: within reason, yes, But I also know myself and the
[36:02] Speaker 1: reality is is I'm not just dating younger. Like if
[36:06] Speaker 1: I met someone who was interesting and mature and they
[36:09] Speaker 1: happened to be younger than fine, right, but.
[36:12] Speaker 2: It doesn't You're not like out looking for a young man.
[36:14] Speaker 2: They did not that would make me.
[36:16] Speaker 1: A cool you as a coolgar I forgot about that
[36:19] Speaker 1: for a seconds.
[36:21] Speaker 2: So what happens to your dms after they do that? Girl?
[36:25] Speaker 2: My phone right now, if I open my dms. You
[36:28] Speaker 2: would die. Can we do that? That would be so
[36:30] Speaker 2: much fun. I personally want to see something. Oh my god,
[36:36] Speaker 2: we're my glasses, though I can't do we need readers
[36:40] Speaker 2: my glasses. Can you maybe in my purse? I need
[36:42] Speaker 2: a sip of wine for this. I feel I need
[36:44] Speaker 2: to prepare my.
[36:44] Speaker 1: I'm not going to say names, but we'll just say, like,
[36:46] Speaker 1: here's one. Lava was the one who taught me how
[36:49] Speaker 1: to read my dms?
[36:51] Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? I didn't even know if they
[36:52] Speaker 2: were like now I do, but like at first I
[36:55] Speaker 2: was like, DMS, what's that?
[36:58] Speaker 1: And she's like, bitch's a whole sea if in her
[37:00] Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, I've been missed. Was the
[37:03] Speaker 1: one to show you. I don't know why I feel
[37:04] Speaker 1: like her dms. Actually we did that on the radio
[37:06] Speaker 1: one time, we went through her dms. I love her
[37:08] Speaker 1: because her dms were popping, popping. She's like, girl, we
[37:14] Speaker 1: were doing that Dear White People. I feel like on
[37:17] Speaker 1: the set of Dear White People, she taught me I need.
[37:19] Speaker 2: My dms to be a little popping. Do I not
[37:21] Speaker 2: give my dms should be popping by somebody? Is that?
[37:25] Speaker 2: Is it? Because I don't post third stress or is
[37:29] Speaker 2: it because you need to like the age? Is it like, no,
[37:33] Speaker 2: we just have to post. Just throw out there. I say,
[37:37] Speaker 2: be careful what you asked for. I don't really I
[37:39] Speaker 2: don't really want I was just joking. I was just joking.
[37:41] Speaker 2: But I do be thinking, like why don't get none?
[37:45] Speaker 2: I should be like, really inspired by your work. I
[37:48] Speaker 2: want a career in media, I was wondering.
[37:51] Speaker 1: Most of them have been telling me like, I'll sign
[37:53] Speaker 1: the NDA, shut the fuck, And I'm like, okay.
[37:58] Speaker 2: They're like, yo, where's the NDA? I'm ready to sign?
[38:02] Speaker 2: Did they start with yo? Oh? Yeah, I have some
[38:05] Speaker 2: ratchet folks in here chet, yes, okay, yeah, definitely have
[38:12] Speaker 2: some ratchet. So first of all, this they're shooting the
[38:15] Speaker 2: shot and they're opening up with a.
[38:16] Speaker 1: Yell, and I'm like that you don't even get to
[38:18] Speaker 1: see the paperwork with that.
[38:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, you know what I'm saying. Okay, we're gonna
[38:22] Speaker 2: find one.
[38:23] Speaker 3: Are any of these guys like a public figuremen? There's
[38:27] Speaker 3: a couple that have the blue.
[38:29] Speaker 2: Check mm hmm do you ever reply?
[38:41] Speaker 1: It depends on my mood, Like for shoots and giggles,
[38:45] Speaker 1: it depends how bored. I am god, why are all
[38:50] Speaker 1: the now all of them are?
[38:53] Speaker 2: Oh oh really.
[38:56] Speaker 1: Brittany will show you, like Law'll show you how to
[38:59] Speaker 1: search this. One says, I call all CAP, but put
[39:03] Speaker 1: me on the list of sneaky links.
[39:06] Speaker 2: You're welcome. Now, you're welcome. Did you block him and
[39:12] Speaker 2: I call Cap? You don't know you?
[39:16] Speaker 1: Oh here's a guy. I'm just a normal every day
[39:20] Speaker 1: hold on, let me start over. I'm just a normal,
[39:24] Speaker 1: everyday young black man. And then he hasn't quotes just
[39:30] Speaker 1: a little bit. I guess that means a little bit young. Okay,
[39:35] Speaker 1: that sees you and wonders if I ever had a
[39:39] Speaker 1: chance to meet you and simply say hello in person.
[39:42] Speaker 1: I'm sure you get this all the time, so I
[39:45] Speaker 1: apologize if I'm wasting.
[39:47] Speaker 2: Okay, he's too polite, too polite, too polite. Yes, we
[39:53] Speaker 2: had two ratchets, because that's not really.
[39:57] Speaker 1: Just get to the point, all right, but be honest, Nia, Yeah,
[40:00] Speaker 1: are any of them good in here?
[40:02] Speaker 2: Yeah? I've had a couple of good ones.
[40:06] Speaker 1: Really, But then I've watched their lives play out in
[40:09] Speaker 1: other areas and I'm like, thank god, I didn't go there.
[40:12] Speaker 2: You go to the page and you investigate. No.
[40:15] Speaker 1: I mean I've seen in public what they end up
[40:18] Speaker 1: public people who have DM yes, and I'm.
[40:20] Speaker 2: Like, oh, you're kind of a hot mess. I could
[40:22] Speaker 2: have been in that story right now, you know.
[40:26] Speaker 1: Yes, So you didn't take the bait. I didn't take
[40:28] Speaker 1: the bait. I took the flowers, but not the bait.
[40:32] Speaker 1: I like flowers. Oh god, I mean there's just not
[40:37] Speaker 1: there's just not Let's see.
[40:41] Speaker 2: This is this is a good time. I could do
[40:43] Speaker 2: this all day me too. Yeah, No, it's it's just not.
[40:47] Speaker 2: I mean I wish it was hot.
[40:49] Speaker 1: If he's not in the d MS and he's not
[40:53] Speaker 1: ball any type of baller situation, he's not that.
[40:57] Speaker 2: Where does he live? What? Like? How do you even?
[41:01] Speaker 2: I don't know. I ask you this not just for you,
[41:04] Speaker 2: but like the many women that I know that are
[41:06] Speaker 2: like who do you date? Yeah? Like how do you date? How?
[41:10] Speaker 2: Where do they come from? I don't want to date.
[41:12] Speaker 2: I'm so happy right now. Oh you don't want to Okay,
[41:15] Speaker 2: and I I don't even know how to date.
[41:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think it's because I've just been in
[41:21] Speaker 1: a relationship for a really long time, so dating is like, Okay,
[41:26] Speaker 1: what do we do? Okay, So we're going to dinner,
[41:28] Speaker 1: we're going to talk, and you're going to show up
[41:32] Speaker 1: as your representative and I'm going to show up as me.
[41:36] Speaker 2: I think it's hard to date when you're us. Do
[41:37] Speaker 2: you show up as you on date one? Yeah? I
[41:40] Speaker 2: don't know how else to be, do you not? I
[41:42] Speaker 2: don't know.
[41:43] Speaker 1: I haven't dated in like fifteen years, and I.
[41:47] Speaker 2: Am, you know, I'm.
[41:50] Speaker 1: Trying to figure out the next thing. Yes, I don't
[41:54] Speaker 1: know what that looks I don't know what that looks
[41:55] Speaker 1: like for me. But can I tell you something. You're
[41:57] Speaker 1: going to go through this thing where you're gonna be like, oh,
[41:58] Speaker 1: I want to date.
[42:00] Speaker 2: I'm going to get hot and date and get out there.
[42:03] Speaker 2: I mean, that's what Chelsea Handler told me, and I thought,
[42:06] Speaker 2: I don't see it. That was a couple of months ago.
[42:08] Speaker 2: It hasn't. White women are different, Okay, Okay, bro, I
[42:11] Speaker 2: respect it.
[42:11] Speaker 1: I respect them so much like they can get up
[42:14] Speaker 1: and change the channel.
[42:17] Speaker 2: Bye. Sis, sisters are a little not all.
[42:22] Speaker 1: You can't generalize, but I would say that in my experience,
[42:27] Speaker 1: my very dear Caucasian white girlfriends are a lot more
[42:32] Speaker 1: like next.
[42:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm you know, I'm just emotional. Yeah, it
[42:39] Speaker 2: takes time.
[42:40] Speaker 1: It takes time me too, and also like it takes
[42:43] Speaker 1: time to remember how to do.
[42:44] Speaker 2: It, I don't know how to do it. That's what
[42:45] Speaker 2: I'm saying.
[42:46] Speaker 3: Are you still because you're like a couple of years
[42:48] Speaker 3: out now, you still haven't figured that out.
[42:49] Speaker 1: I've been working a lot, I mean, when you think
[42:51] Speaker 1: about it, I've been working NonStop since That's MJ right,
[42:55] Speaker 1: like since shooting that by the way.
[42:57] Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you. And then.
[43:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know that I've had that much time
[43:05] Speaker 1: to figure to figure it out.
[43:07] Speaker 2: I've focused on my kids.
[43:08] Speaker 1: I know. I don't want to bring someone new in
[43:11] Speaker 1: to my son's life at this age.
[43:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's tough. I'm all over the place.
[43:16] Speaker 2: But how fun to be able to play the mother
[43:18] Speaker 2: of Michael Jackson like it was?
[43:21] Speaker 3: Why could you imagine? And I'm sure you've had to
[43:24] Speaker 3: imagine because you played her so sore, you've gone through
[43:26] Speaker 3: all that work in your head of Like, but I
[43:28] Speaker 3: was thinking, could you imagine being Michael Jackson and Janet
[43:31] Speaker 3: Jackson in the Jackson's Vibes? Mother wild wild? But she's
[43:36] Speaker 3: a source, she's a pillar.
[43:38] Speaker 1: They spent a lot of time with her, right, So
[43:40] Speaker 1: I didn't meet her at auntil after I met her
[43:43] Speaker 1: at the premiere.
[43:44] Speaker 2: Oh my god.
[43:45] Speaker 1: And so the whole time we were shooting, I had
[43:47] Speaker 1: been wanting to meet her, but you know, it was
[43:49] Speaker 1: one of those things that like, I mean, she's Captain Jackson.
[43:53] Speaker 1: They don't just get in a car and drive and
[43:55] Speaker 1: say like, hey, it's not that so you there's a
[44:00] Speaker 1: she's she's older, you know, she's she's just turned I
[44:03] Speaker 1: think ninety.
[44:06] Speaker 2: I want to say, yeah, she's so even who she
[44:09] Speaker 2: was when you played her. She's not that she's different.
[44:12] Speaker 2: She's different. She's a different woman. Yeah, but she's when
[44:16] Speaker 2: you meet her, she's.
[44:17] Speaker 1: Like very quiet, very sweet, very soft, kept her eyes
[44:25] Speaker 1: on the littles, like the babies.
[44:27] Speaker 2: I watched her watch the babies, and that was beautiful.
[44:31] Speaker 2: And I just kneeled next to her and I said,
[44:34] Speaker 2: I've been I've been waiting for this moment to meet you.
[44:38] Speaker 2: And I said, have you ever thought about the fact
[44:42] Speaker 2: that none of this would be happening without you? Makes
[44:47] Speaker 2: me want to cry? And she just kind of looked
[44:51] Speaker 2: at me and she started to cry. And she held
[44:57] Speaker 2: my hand and I held her hand and it was
[44:59] Speaker 2: just she's the beginning of an empire. Think about that's like,
[45:09] Speaker 2: that's hard. Course, she gave.
[45:10] Speaker 1: Birth to all those children and she protected them, and
[45:15] Speaker 1: she's sacrificed, and she's a grandmother of I'm sure she's
[45:20] Speaker 1: probably got like I don't know exactly how many grand
[45:23] Speaker 1: children are, but she is queen mother.
[45:26] Speaker 2: Yes, when I think about, why does that make you emotionals?
[45:28] Speaker 2: What do you think?
[45:30] Speaker 1: Because I know the weight she had to carry to
[45:36] Speaker 1: be a place of refuge and safety for her family,
[45:41] Speaker 1: But I know that she also had to probably internalize
[45:46] Speaker 1: so many things that she couldn't speak up about, or
[45:51] Speaker 1: chose not to speak up about.
[45:53] Speaker 2: No, I can only imagine.
[45:54] Speaker 1: Because she had the mother wit, the grace to know that,
[45:58] Speaker 1: like you don't have to speak on all things. Some
[46:02] Speaker 1: things are better left unset. And I think that's her
[46:04] Speaker 1: holding her. That's that divine feminine power that we all
[46:08] Speaker 1: have that you have to protect.
[46:11] Speaker 2: That must have been great. Did you ask her how
[46:13] Speaker 2: you did that? You had to ask? I didn't ask
[46:14] Speaker 2: her that because I was like, what if she says, no,
[46:16] Speaker 2: oh God, that would be I didn't recognize that woman
[46:20] Speaker 2: at all. Get her out of here. No, I didn't.
[46:23] Speaker 1: I didn't ask her because I know that she was
[46:28] Speaker 1: happy and all the sons were happy. How you feel,
[46:32] Speaker 1: and I could feel that she was happy. And you know,
[46:39] Speaker 1: you do these performances to tell a story, and you
[46:46] Speaker 1: know it changes from moment to moment. Like my interpretation
[46:50] Speaker 1: of it is not going to be the same as
[46:52] Speaker 1: when Angela Bassett did her interpretation, which was amazing. Two
[46:55] Speaker 1: different things, two different projects, two different movies. And so
[46:58] Speaker 1: I didn't want to get caught up in trying to
[47:01] Speaker 1: be Catherine Jackson. I wanted people to feel.
[47:06] Speaker 2: What she represents.
[47:09] Speaker 1: Yes, right, and that's the baseline of the family. That's
[47:13] Speaker 1: the strength, that's the and you gotta understand, like we
[47:17] Speaker 1: shot a lot of other scenes that didn't make it
[47:20] Speaker 1: into the movie because of because of the you know,
[47:23] Speaker 1: the legal shakeups that happened towards the end. So it was,
[47:27] Speaker 1: it was, it was, it was tricky. Yeah, what is
[47:29] Speaker 1: that like for you to be? So I was looking
[47:32] Speaker 1: at the body of work.
[47:35] Speaker 2: All of the movies. You're always like the hot little
[47:39] Speaker 2: the young little haughty in the movie. I hate it.
[47:42] Speaker 2: You hate the haughty rolls well because it's not I mean,
[47:44] Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't hate it.
[47:46] Speaker 1: I don't hate it. I actually love it. I love
[47:49] Speaker 1: that I get to do that. But I think I
[47:52] Speaker 1: mean Friday, even Friday. Yeah, like the way it's I
[47:56] Speaker 1: mean it's it's I don't know, it's it's endearing, it's not.
[48:00] Speaker 2: It's not overly sexualized. No, no it's not.
[48:03] Speaker 1: It's like you've been put on this like ideal girl
[48:07] Speaker 1: kind of pedestal. That's the part that's tough. Yeah, because
[48:12] Speaker 1: as much as I appreciate it, I'm.
[48:15] Speaker 2: Not that girl anymore.
[48:17] Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, we're we change as women, and
[48:20] Speaker 1: I don't want to have to live up to that
[48:23] Speaker 1: whatever that is.
[48:24] Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, what is it to you?
[48:26] Speaker 3: Like, because you do take your skin regimen, your beauty,
[48:31] Speaker 3: how you look, how you present like you just did
[48:35] Speaker 3: Playboy like skims.
[48:38] Speaker 2: Yeah that was great. I love that.
[48:39] Speaker 1: Yeah, So where do you I don't know, where do
[48:41] Speaker 1: you put that, the idea of how people see you
[48:44] Speaker 1: versus how you see it yourself. I think as long
[48:47] Speaker 1: as I'm taking care of myself and it's about my
[48:50] Speaker 1: personal growth and my choice rather than then it's okay.
[48:54] Speaker 1: Rather than trying to be younger, or trying to be hot,
[49:00] Speaker 1: or trying you know, or trying to be the nineties
[49:03] Speaker 1: hot girl, Like I'm not.
[49:05] Speaker 2: You're not the nineties hot girl. You still are in
[49:08] Speaker 2: there somewhere. No, she's in me. She's never going away.
[49:13] Speaker 2: But I don't need to. I don't need to walk
[49:16] Speaker 2: out the door with an agenda. I just need to
[49:22] Speaker 2: walk out the doors me.
[49:24] Speaker 1: And some days I'm nineties hot girl Nia, some days
[49:27] Speaker 1: I'm Mamma Kia. Some days I'm carpool Nia, and some
[49:30] Speaker 1: days I'm hot mess Nian. Some days I'm red carpet Nia,
[49:34] Speaker 1: and other days I'm.
[49:35] Speaker 2: You're going to the set to play the matriarch.
[49:38] Speaker 1: Right, And I've gave you know, forty pounds because I'm
[49:41] Speaker 1: in menopause and I'm a grown ass woman. Like that's
[49:44] Speaker 1: I'm all of those those all of those women are
[49:47] Speaker 1: a part of who I am, and so I don't
[49:50] Speaker 1: want to be beholden to one version of myself.
[49:57] Speaker 2: But is that tricky? Did you have to go into
[49:59] Speaker 2: that with a growing there?
[50:04] Speaker 1: I think there's a moment that every woman walks into
[50:07] Speaker 1: the bathroom and looks in the mirror and you're like, oh,
[50:11] Speaker 1: I'm getting older, and it's okay.
[50:14] Speaker 2: Did you take it?
[50:15] Speaker 1: That's okay, yeah, because I was like, I'm still fine,
[50:19] Speaker 1: I'm still I still feel pretty for me. Yeah, you know,
[50:23] Speaker 1: I still feel good about myself and I'm taking care
[50:27] Speaker 1: of myself so that I can preserve that.
[50:30] Speaker 2: But I'm also.
[50:34] Speaker 1: I can also see the things that are changing, and
[50:39] Speaker 1: that's good, like to be able to have more life,
[50:40] Speaker 1: to be able to change, to be able to know
[50:42] Speaker 1: that like one dam.
[50:43] Speaker 2: Gon to be a grandma and one day going to
[50:44] Speaker 2: have all of you know, it's it's nice. You've got
[50:47] Speaker 2: to settle into it. Either you're going to fight it
[50:49] Speaker 2: or settle into Yeah.
[50:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we're I think the world sets us
[50:54] Speaker 1: up to always want to fight it.
[50:56] Speaker 2: And it is a tough thing. You know. I struggle too.
[50:58] Speaker 3: Sometimes I'm okay with it, and then every time I'm like,
[51:01] Speaker 3: sometimes I'm like, I don't like this.
[51:02] Speaker 2: I don't feel like that inside, so I shouldn't look
[51:04] Speaker 2: like that on the outside. Sometimes I don't know.
[51:08] Speaker 1: Well, that's the self talk, right, Like that's the thing
[51:10] Speaker 1: that we have to get under control. And I think
[51:15] Speaker 1: as our hormones change and our bodies change, it comes
[51:18] Speaker 1: with anxiety, It comes with exhaustion, comes with imbalance of
[51:23] Speaker 1: our hormones.
[51:24] Speaker 2: All these things are real, not like people just talking
[51:27] Speaker 2: about them. It happens.
[51:29] Speaker 1: And so you just have to have not you, but anyone,
[51:33] Speaker 1: me myself. As long as I feel myself going down
[51:38] Speaker 1: the rabbit hole and I pause and recalibrate, I'm good.
[51:45] Speaker 2: So you do have the feelings, you just pause and recalibrate.
[51:49] Speaker 1: I pause today, I said. Today, I was getting dressed
[51:52] Speaker 1: and I go, God, I need to be in the gym,
[51:55] Speaker 1: and I go, But you know what, I don't want
[51:56] Speaker 1: to right now.
[51:58] Speaker 2: I don't want to. Good for you. I want to
[52:03] Speaker 2: I'm actually at the weight that I like to be at.
[52:06] Speaker 1: But I walked into the mirror my bron panties, and
[52:10] Speaker 1: I was like, I need to go to the job
[52:12] Speaker 1: because it's important to lift weights at this age, at
[52:15] Speaker 1: the stage. But with that the reason, no, whenever you
[52:17] Speaker 1: would because if you walk past the mirror your bron panties,
[52:19] Speaker 1: you weren't like it's important to lift weights.
[52:22] Speaker 2: No, No, that was the reason I was. I was like,
[52:25] Speaker 2: this used to look like this and now it looks No.
[52:28] Speaker 1: I was like, I was like, I've got good legs,
[52:32] Speaker 1: but don't start taking them for granted by not working
[52:35] Speaker 1: out go work out so they can stay nice.
[52:38] Speaker 2: I want to go back to it, girl.
[52:43] Speaker 3: And that theory about you being on this pedestal, right,
[52:46] Speaker 3: just when I was a young girl, that could be tricky,
[52:49] Speaker 3: like them putting you on this like pretty girl pedestal.
[52:52] Speaker 1: I just wonder if, like Eagle had said in or,
[52:57] Speaker 1: I don't know, what does that do to a young
[52:59] Speaker 1: girl and everybody's.
[53:00] Speaker 2: Like, you're so pretty, You're so you're that girl.
[53:04] Speaker 1: I didn't really have people coming up to me saying
[53:07] Speaker 1: you're so pretty, like and there was no social media,
[53:10] Speaker 1: and there was no social media, and I was working
[53:13] Speaker 1: like I was a worker. I started in soaps. I
[53:16] Speaker 1: moved here when I was twenty one, twenty two years old,
[53:21] Speaker 1: younger than that actually, because I I graduated high school
[53:25] Speaker 1: and moved straight to New York.
[53:26] Speaker 2: I was on soaps. That was morning tonight.
[53:29] Speaker 1: That job was hard and I think, oh, I was
[53:33] Speaker 1: telling someone the other day the moment that I realized
[53:38] Speaker 1: I was famous, and it was trippy.
[53:42] Speaker 2: I was with Marvette Burrito, Oh, yes, publicists.
[53:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, we were at al Roy Jones Junior fight.
[53:51] Speaker 2: At Madison Square Garden. I feel like I might have
[53:54] Speaker 2: been at that same time. You were probably there. Everyone
[53:56] Speaker 2: was there.
[53:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, it was Spike Lee, Mike Tyson, every supermodel from
[54:05] Speaker 1: the nineties. And when I walked in, I was like,
[54:09] Speaker 1: oh my god, like this every it was packed.
[54:14] Speaker 2: And someone on.
[54:14] Speaker 1: The loudspeaker said knee Long just walked in and the
[54:19] Speaker 1: whole building started screaming, and I like got nervous, like
[54:24] Speaker 1: what's happening? I was like, are they doing that for me?
[54:27] Speaker 1: And then Marvett just looked at me and smiled and
[54:29] Speaker 1: she's like, come on, But like that was my part,
[54:33] Speaker 1: like I and I'm not saying this to try to
[54:35] Speaker 1: be like super humble girl. Like I really wasn't focused
[54:40] Speaker 1: on that. I was in survival mode. I was born
[54:43] Speaker 1: in Brooklyn. I was living in South central LA. My
[54:46] Speaker 1: mother was a single mom. I was like, how can
[54:50] Speaker 1: we get up out of this ghetto? How can we survive?
[54:53] Speaker 2: But also, you have a gift that you're probably chasing, and.
[54:56] Speaker 1: I was chasing my own gift, right, But I knew
[54:59] Speaker 1: that if I had che my goals, it would make
[55:01] Speaker 1: everything better.
[55:02] Speaker 2: So I didn't have I didn't have this. Yeah, you
[55:06] Speaker 2: know how much I love him. I know I love
[55:08] Speaker 2: that I didn't have this. Oh I'm the hot girls
[55:13] Speaker 2: attitude at all. I was. I didn't not like the
[55:18] Speaker 2: models in the room probably had that whole.
[55:20] Speaker 1: No, I didn't understand that. I was like, why are
[55:22] Speaker 1: they so uptight? Yeah, the what's going on?
[55:26] Speaker 2: I didn't have that. I was. I was aware of
[55:32] Speaker 2: my surroundings. I was aware of you were aware that
[55:36] Speaker 2: you were getting casted, and I was aware of how
[55:38] Speaker 2: people were responding.
[55:40] Speaker 1: But I wasn't walking into a room with a chip
[55:45] Speaker 1: on my shoulder or thinking I was the prettiest girl
[55:49] Speaker 1: in the room, or feeling like I needed to be
[55:53] Speaker 1: the number one person in the room.
[55:58] Speaker 2: And I still don't have that. Really, you're at.
[56:03] Speaker 1: I'm a little like silly and like like people that
[56:05] Speaker 1: know me, No, like you don't take yourself that serious. No,
[56:10] Speaker 1: It's funny because sometimes we work with people, will hire people,
[56:14] Speaker 1: and me and brit always talk about this.
[56:17] Speaker 3: It's kind of like, I don't know, I have like
[56:18] Speaker 3: a pretty girl syndrome thing that sometimes I see. I
[56:23] Speaker 3: don't want to call it that because that's too but
[56:25] Speaker 3: like there's a thing that, especially if I'm hiring somebody
[56:30] Speaker 3: or if I'm working with somebody, sometimes in a pretty
[56:34] Speaker 3: girl I could see less effort and I don't want
[56:39] Speaker 3: to paint that on everybody. There's plenty of pretty girls
[56:41] Speaker 3: who work hard or whatever. But sometimes I'm like, oh,
[56:44] Speaker 3: too many people told her she's pretty, or too many
[56:46] Speaker 3: people gave her a praise for something that wasn't that great.
[56:51] Speaker 3: And I can see the difference when people are affected
[56:55] Speaker 3: by being pretty, when they when they let it seep
[56:59] Speaker 3: into they work ethic, or they took it too serious and.
[57:02] Speaker 2: They're believing the hype and believe the hype. Bitch, do better,
[57:07] Speaker 2: Like come on, you feel like that's something that has
[57:10] Speaker 2: to do with this.
[57:10] Speaker 3: It drives me crazy because I want to go, come on,
[57:13] Speaker 3: you're pretty, of course you are, but like that's.
[57:16] Speaker 2: Not enough, like never enough. Come on. Man. It bothers
[57:20] Speaker 2: me because I feel almost they're selling themselves short.
[57:23] Speaker 1: Like do you feel like that's generational? Do you feel
[57:26] Speaker 1: like that's really like a pretty thing? Because I think
[57:28] Speaker 1: some of that is just smacking on eminem.
[57:31] Speaker 2: That's okay, it's real life. This is in real life.
[57:35] Speaker 2: I feel like some of that is.
[57:36] Speaker 1: About generation, entitlement, titlement. Can you say something they're like defensive?
[57:48] Speaker 1: I think maybe both. I think it depends on the person.
[57:50] Speaker 6: We were grinders, We were, but not all were. Not
[57:55] Speaker 6: everyone was who from the nineties wasn't a grinder That
[58:00] Speaker 6: is still relevant right now?
[58:02] Speaker 2: Okay, well that's a difference. That's a different story.
[58:04] Speaker 3: But they were definitely like cute girls, prants and around
[58:07] Speaker 3: thinking that was enough. There was a lot of them everywhere.
[58:11] Speaker 3: They might not have made it because that's what they
[58:15] Speaker 3: leaned on. Yeah, pretty, there's something in that.
[58:17] Speaker 2: I don't know.
[58:18] Speaker 3: I'm sure there's some expert or some psychologists that can
[58:21] Speaker 3: break that down.
[58:22] Speaker 1: But I do like if I only have sons, but
[58:24] Speaker 1: if I had a daughter, it would be my one
[58:26] Speaker 1: of my things that even if she was gorgeous, like
[58:30] Speaker 1: you are not going to that is not going to
[58:32] Speaker 1: be your headline correct, Like come on, we need we
[58:36] Speaker 1: need some substance because you're not always going to be gorgeous.
[58:39] Speaker 1: At some point then what happened and then I always
[58:42] Speaker 1: talk about like it. It reminds me of this thing
[58:45] Speaker 1: that I think often is like, you know, in high school,
[58:49] Speaker 1: I wasn't the prettiest girl, I wasn't the most popular.
[58:51] Speaker 1: I was like in the second batch, you know.
[58:55] Speaker 2: B level.
[58:56] Speaker 1: I was B level cute in high school, so you
[58:58] Speaker 1: had like the as and then you had me and
[59:01] Speaker 1: the you know, I was like BC, like the guys
[59:05] Speaker 1: liked me, but that was only because the A girls
[59:08] Speaker 1: weren't giving them the time of day.
[59:11] Speaker 3: Oh so you had to also have some type of personality.
[59:15] Speaker 1: Yes, And I was just very aloof and I would
[59:18] Speaker 1: go to school and I did great in school.
[59:20] Speaker 2: I was always a good student.
[59:23] Speaker 1: But what was interesting is when we all graduated and
[59:28] Speaker 1: you go back. I never go to my high school reunion.
[59:31] Speaker 1: That's like, I just don't do stuff like that. I
[59:33] Speaker 1: don't know why, but I just don't.
[59:34] Speaker 2: I get it. Do you go? No, It's not because
[59:38] Speaker 2: I'm an actor. It's just like, what are we going
[59:41] Speaker 2: to talk about? I also, I have a difficult time
[59:44] Speaker 2: with small talk. Me too, Oh my god, I get sewing.
[59:48] Speaker 2: I have so much anxiety. It doesn't mean I can't
[59:50] Speaker 2: talk to a stranger. I could talk to a stranger
[59:52] Speaker 2: as long as it's authentic conversation. Yes, yes, yes.
[59:56] Speaker 1: Okay, But what about the people I call it the
[59:59] Speaker 1: fall off, the ones that were in the A group
[1:00:03] Speaker 1: and you see them thirty years later, and they didn't
[1:00:08] Speaker 1: do the work, and they didn't grind, and they let
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: themselves go.
[1:00:15] Speaker 2: Because or life happened or listen.
[1:00:17] Speaker 1: I'm not being judgmental, but what I'm saying is the
[1:00:20] Speaker 1: pretty thing you're talking about, yes, is like the most
[1:00:23] Speaker 1: popular girl in high school. So I mean, I guess
[1:00:27] Speaker 1: the moral of the story is is we just can't
[1:00:29] Speaker 1: be that.
[1:00:30] Speaker 2: We have to be more. Yeah, we have to.
[1:00:33] Speaker 1: I think we have to explore all parts of ourselves
[1:00:36] Speaker 1: and we have to rip it open, and we have
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: to dig deep, and we have to heal, and we
[1:00:40] Speaker 1: have to figure out, like what are the things that
[1:00:43] Speaker 1: we're meant to do here while we're here, because it
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: seems like a long time it's really not. I know,
[1:00:49] Speaker 1: ultimately that is the quest that we should all be on.
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: That's it. Why are we here? What is our purpose?
[1:00:54] Speaker 2: How do we serve?
[1:00:56] Speaker 1: How can we inspire humanity? How can we look beautiful
[1:01:01] Speaker 1: but be about it?
[1:01:04] Speaker 2: Right? Like be about it?
[1:01:05] Speaker 1: And I think that's one of the biggest things I
[1:01:07] Speaker 1: teach my kids is to be of service because being
[1:01:10] Speaker 1: of service means that you are able to put your
[1:01:12] Speaker 1: ego away.
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: M hmm. How you do that? You do? Are you?
[1:01:17] Speaker 2: I do love it? Okay? I love you know.
[1:01:20] Speaker 1: The other day I was driving to pick up my
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: dry cleaning and there was this little lady on the
[1:01:25] Speaker 1: corner with her cane and she kept waving her cane.
[1:01:29] Speaker 2: Why did I put the lady in my car and
[1:01:32] Speaker 2: drive her home? And then she.
[1:01:36] Speaker 1: And then I stepped at a red light and she
[1:01:37] Speaker 1: tried to jump out, so then I had to call
[1:01:39] Speaker 1: nine one one, and nine one one came to get her,
[1:01:41] Speaker 1: and she had dementia and it was just like a
[1:01:43] Speaker 1: whole thing. And I was like, well, and the officer
[1:01:46] Speaker 1: was like, I understand you were trying to do a
[1:01:48] Speaker 1: good thing, but like you, sometimes you gotta be careful.
[1:01:51] Speaker 2: You just don't. But I felt bad.
[1:01:52] Speaker 1: I was like, she's like, it's nine hundred degrees outside
[1:01:54] Speaker 1: and she's waving her cane. But I don't want to
[1:01:57] Speaker 1: stop being that person because I know a lot of
[1:02:00] Speaker 1: people that would just drive by and listen. I get
[1:02:02] Speaker 1: just driving by because some things are not your business.
[1:02:05] Speaker 1: But I also have a tender spot in my heart
[1:02:09] Speaker 1: for elderly. I have a tender spot in my tender
[1:02:11] Speaker 1: spot in my heart for people that are just hard
[1:02:16] Speaker 1: working people, you know that just come to my house
[1:02:20] Speaker 1: every week and they do their jobs and we sit
[1:02:22] Speaker 1: and we chat for a minute, and like there's an
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: exchange of energy. I admire that they don't it does
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: I don't. I'd rather that conversation than, to your point,
[1:02:31] Speaker 1: chit chat. Yeah, because the chit chat drives me crazy.
[1:02:33] Speaker 2: Oh my god, I'm so bad at it. But I
[1:02:39] Speaker 2: just felt like, oh, she really wants me. First time.
[1:02:41] Speaker 2: I don't know. It was so sweet.
[1:02:43] Speaker 1: It was it was so genuine, right, But I always
[1:02:46] Speaker 1: felt our conversations were genuine for sure. We had a
[1:02:50] Speaker 1: lot of mutual friends yea and things like that, But
[1:02:52] Speaker 1: I never realized until this conversation, are you like, do
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: you have a now?
[1:02:55] Speaker 2: I feel like you should hang out all the time.
[1:02:57] Speaker 2: I hate loud. I hate loud. I hate loud.
[1:02:59] Speaker 1: I hate too much talking Sometimes it makes me like that,
[1:03:04] Speaker 1: like I get buzzy. But see, and I don't like
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: multiple things sounds at the same.
[1:03:10] Speaker 2: Time, one thing at a time. Stick to what we're
[1:03:14] Speaker 2: talking to. I love you.
[1:03:17] Speaker 1: I just sound like ass No, she's not, she's laughing
[1:03:21] Speaker 1: because you're like my twin soul.
[1:03:22] Speaker 2: Right. I can't. I can't. My nervous system can't handle it.
[1:03:25] Speaker 2: But you know what I think it is?
[1:03:27] Speaker 3: I will literally and I realize it's rude after and
[1:03:29] Speaker 3: I don't care if it's true.
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: Know, if I'm taking care of myself, I gotta take
[1:03:34] Speaker 1: like wait and it will not because I want to
[1:03:37] Speaker 1: shush somebody. It's just because I need.
[1:03:39] Speaker 2: It's like if you're talking to me and they're talking
[1:03:41] Speaker 2: to me, everybody's.
[1:03:44] Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god, it's like a nervous breakdown.
[1:03:51] Speaker 1: It's like a mini panic attack. We are best friends,
[1:03:55] Speaker 1: decided to do not disappear from to l.
[1:03:57] Speaker 2: Ah your guest house. God, Oh my god, oh my god.
[1:04:01] Speaker 3: All right, we have some in real life questions. We
[1:04:03] Speaker 3: must get to a poice note. Yes we can. We
[1:04:06] Speaker 3: have a voicetow segment. Somebody sends in. We say we
[1:04:09] Speaker 3: have nia long on the show. They send us a note.
[1:04:11] Speaker 2: Baks, do it right now. That's rue.
[1:04:13] Speaker 3: Hey guys, you ever sign up for a phone plan
[1:04:15] Speaker 3: thinking wow, what a great price, and then a few

[1:05:02] Speaker 2: a name? Your mom, your fama? What's her name? And
[1:05:08] Speaker 2: I Anna? Hi, Annaana? Okay, let's hear it.
[1:05:14] Speaker 7: Hey, Ania, I've been such a fan of yours for
[1:05:18] Speaker 7: so long. I love your movies like Boys in the Hood,
[1:05:21] Speaker 7: and love Jones, especially.
[1:05:24] Speaker 2: Outside of your work. You're also just such a beautiful woman,
[1:05:27] Speaker 2: such a beauty icon.
[1:05:30] Speaker 7: My question is what's the most insane way to get
[1:05:34] Speaker 7: snatched or get ready before a big event. I have
[1:05:38] Speaker 7: a girl strip coming up and I just want to
[1:05:40] Speaker 7: look hot.
[1:05:41] Speaker 2: Just give me some tipps.
[1:05:42] Speaker 1: She didn't see the part right said, I need to
[1:05:43] Speaker 1: go to the gym. It doesn't matter. Nobody cares about
[1:05:47] Speaker 1: whatever you saw in the mirror that said you needed
[1:05:49] Speaker 1: to go to the gym. You people think of you
[1:05:52] Speaker 1: as a hot girl forever, hot girl.
[1:05:55] Speaker 2: You know, well, okay you no, no, But I I'm
[1:06:00] Speaker 2: a big walker.
[1:06:01] Speaker 1: I love walking, And that's one of the reasons I
[1:06:03] Speaker 1: love coming home because I get to walk everywhere. Like
[1:06:05] Speaker 1: I'm literally gonna leave here, go get my mom from
[1:06:07] Speaker 1: the hotel, and go walk. I'm a little worried about
[1:06:10] Speaker 1: my hair because I gotta work tomorrow, but it looks
[1:06:11] Speaker 1: so good. I'm just gonna just go with it.
[1:06:13] Speaker 2: Thank you. Yeah, this is gonna sound cliche, but lots
[1:06:18] Speaker 2: of water. I do a thing. This is my new thing.
[1:06:22] Speaker 1: I take clothes, the dry clothes, and I take ginger
[1:06:26] Speaker 1: fresh ginger and a cinnamon stick and I make a tea.
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: The cinnamon stick regulates your blood sugar, so you don't
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: go up and down and get hungry. I put it
[1:06:36] Speaker 1: in the fridge. I get it really cold, and you
[1:06:39] Speaker 1: can add hydration powder, you can add whatever else you
[1:06:42] Speaker 1: want to it.
[1:06:42] Speaker 2: And I sip on that all day.
[1:06:44] Speaker 1: If you drink cold tea or hot tea, it curbs
[1:06:48] Speaker 1: your appetite, it flushes you out. It keeps you alert.
[1:06:53] Speaker 1: It's hydrating clothes, cinnamon, ginger.
[1:06:57] Speaker 2: And water and water like a tea. Boil it on
[1:07:00] Speaker 2: the stuff.
[1:07:01] Speaker 1: Let it boil, simmer when it cools down, pour it
[1:07:05] Speaker 1: into a glass. Because we don't do plastic anymore. Well,
[1:07:09] Speaker 1: try not to do plastic. Try really hard.
[1:07:11] Speaker 2: Red cups. I know, but red cups are kind of
[1:07:13] Speaker 2: like a thing for black people and brown people. You
[1:07:17] Speaker 2: can't like, just like you're all about the environment, but
[1:07:20] Speaker 2: I'm so.
[1:07:20] Speaker 1: Hard we're those red cups because some people aren't gonna
[1:07:29] Speaker 1: know what we're talking about.
[1:07:29] Speaker 2: People know what red cups are. Everybody a red cup
[1:07:33] Speaker 2: is stop. There's an emoji in the phone, a red
[1:07:35] Speaker 2: cup of Moji. Everybody knows what a red cup is,
[1:07:37] Speaker 2: but have they seen him in person? You want to
[1:07:40] Speaker 2: show a cup, I'm just saying, like you want to
[1:07:43] Speaker 2: drink out of the cup. No, we have We're gonna
[1:07:46] Speaker 2: do this, but I'm sad like we used to do that.
[1:07:49] Speaker 2: This is a red cup guys for you young ins
[1:07:53] Speaker 2: that don't they know, especially, oh they do. I didn't know.
[1:07:56] Speaker 2: Maybe had Patty the Bell on the podcast.
[1:07:58] Speaker 1: I saw that. I didn't see the interview, but I
[1:08:00] Speaker 1: saw that she was coming. I didn't actually see it.
[1:08:03] Speaker 2: I love her.
[1:08:04] Speaker 1: She's amazing, she's amazing, she's a national treasure.
[1:08:07] Speaker 2: She is.
[1:08:09] Speaker 1: She told me that when she was coming up, she
[1:08:12] Speaker 1: would drink out of these red cups or plastic cups.
[1:08:14] Speaker 2: She would drink wine out of them.
[1:08:16] Speaker 1: And Nina Simone said to her, no, dolly, you must
[1:08:20] Speaker 1: drink out of crystal.
[1:08:22] Speaker 2: And what did she call it. There was a word
[1:08:24] Speaker 2: for it. She called it fluff up, fluffing up.
[1:08:29] Speaker 1: Oh, I like that, right, Patty LaBelle says, Ever since then,
[1:08:35] Speaker 1: it's crystal for her. She drinks her wine out of crystal,
[1:08:38] Speaker 1: drink her water out of crystal.
[1:08:39] Speaker 2: So no more, no more of the ease, okay, sorry.
[1:08:43] Speaker 1: And also they're not going for the environment. They're terrible
[1:08:45] Speaker 1: for the environment. You see, we've evolved. And if Patty
[1:08:49] Speaker 1: says we should drink out of crystal, then we're drinking.
[1:08:52] Speaker 1: Simone says that we're all drinking.
[1:08:54] Speaker 2: I mean, those are our those are our girls. Then
[1:08:58] Speaker 2: I think we must drink out of crystal. I think so.
[1:09:00] Speaker 2: By the way, Oh this was good. Oh you know
[1:09:04] Speaker 2: what these are. We're not gonna have time for this today.
[1:09:06] Speaker 2: Do you know how many rap lyrics you're in have
[1:09:07] Speaker 2: you done this?
[1:09:08] Speaker 1: So many?
[1:09:08] Speaker 2: So many? Okay, just really quick Neolong and a cherry thong,
[1:09:14] Speaker 2: ne Along and a cherry thong sipping on pair and young.
[1:09:20] Speaker 1: Okay nas that was Ucci Wally right mm hmm. My
[1:09:23] Speaker 1: only regret was too young for me a long.
[1:09:25] Speaker 2: That was a big one. That was a good one.
[1:09:27] Speaker 2: That was because it was like on a hit record.
[1:09:29] Speaker 1: That was old and they paused me. That made me
[1:09:33] Speaker 1: a hot mom.
[1:09:34] Speaker 2: Because that was like when my kids were younger. Oh
[1:09:37] Speaker 2: so you showing up to the school.
[1:09:39] Speaker 1: Like, yeah, well, y'all are too young?
[1:09:46] Speaker 2: What did the kids say? How did the kids feel
[1:09:48] Speaker 2: about that? I mean we're talking about private school in LA.
[1:09:51] Speaker 1: There were very few probably who knew the song, but
[1:09:54] Speaker 1: no your kids, Oh my kids.
[1:09:55] Speaker 2: My kids were like. My kids were like, wow, like
[1:09:59] Speaker 2: my mom is cool. You know they think yeah the
[1:10:02] Speaker 2: rap song. Mm hm. Trinny Bourne black like ne Along's grandmother,
[1:10:08] Speaker 2: five dog, five.
[1:10:09] Speaker 3: Dog, looking like looking like I could be Along boy
[1:10:17] Speaker 3: smoking that cheech.
[1:10:18] Speaker 2: And chohnk oh, Missy Elliott, Yeah yeah, touch it. Short
[1:10:23] Speaker 2: hair like ne alone, hair like Neil Loose ones should
[1:10:28] Speaker 2: don't need alone like me alone? Short, short hair like
[1:10:34] Speaker 2: nea along is that like?
[1:10:38] Speaker 1: That is juicy J juicy J Okay, okay, thanks Juicy.
[1:10:43] Speaker 2: Couldn't keep it at home. Thought I needed a knee alone.
[1:10:45] Speaker 2: Kanye touch this guy. That's a pretty good one. It's
[1:10:50] Speaker 2: safe to say. Like the rappers, they like you. Yeah,
[1:10:53] Speaker 2: I like them? You do, I do. Have you ever
[1:10:55] Speaker 2: tried that bucket?
[1:10:56] Speaker 1: No?
[1:10:56] Speaker 2: I should? I got all I now it's gonna be
[1:11:02] Speaker 2: like she switched from Young Boys to rubbers. Jeezy was
[1:11:06] Speaker 2: absolutely shooting his shot? Was he? He said that it
[1:11:09] Speaker 2: was pub I don't know. You didn't get the vibe.
[1:11:11] Speaker 2: Now we had a conversation and he was lovely. He's lovely,
[1:11:16] Speaker 2: he's lovely. Well, he said he was shooting a shot.
[1:11:19] Speaker 2: But you need along. I think most rappers are going
[1:11:20] Speaker 2: to shoot their shot. But you know, the shot shooting
[1:11:23] Speaker 2: has not been so good.
[1:11:25] Speaker 1: Sometimes I'm like, I am like traditional, ask me to
[1:11:30] Speaker 1: go to dinner. You don't want like a slick little
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: I don't need a slick I got to figure it out.
[1:11:36] Speaker 1: I need you to come. I think you're interesting, I
[1:11:40] Speaker 1: think you're beautiful. Can I take you to dinner?
[1:11:45] Speaker 2: Does that happen? Never? Never? Because it's always like I
[1:11:48] Speaker 2: think It's like, I hope you didn't just tell them
[1:11:49] Speaker 2: how to do it, And now everywhere you go I think,
[1:11:53] Speaker 2: I think you're beautiful. Can I take you to dinner? Hey, guys.

[1:12:37] Speaker 1: Oh, if this were your last day on Earth, what
[1:12:42] Speaker 1: would you be doing.
[1:12:44] Speaker 2: I'd be eating ice cream, EM and MS and watching
[1:12:52] Speaker 2: a movie in bed with my kids and my mom.
[1:12:55] Speaker 2: That's a good day. That's a great day.
[1:12:57] Speaker 1: It's a great day, and we'd be very dehydrated because
[1:13:01] Speaker 1: we have advanced night repair.
[1:13:03] Speaker 2: Ryan, where's the products? Products? I bring the products.
[1:13:07] Speaker 1: I feel like gang show music.
[1:13:11] Speaker 2: There's products. Yay, Okay, what is so? Okay? I gotta
[1:13:16] Speaker 2: put my glasses on. Oh my god, this is this
[1:13:19] Speaker 2: spright here, this is my holy grail. I love this
[1:13:26] Speaker 2: so much. It's advanced night repair.
[1:13:28] Speaker 1: It's been around forever, and it's a serum you can
[1:13:31] Speaker 1: I this is how I use.
[1:13:33] Speaker 2: She uses this now till the trip.
[1:13:36] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's actually a great because.
[1:13:40] Speaker 2: It'll give the glow.
[1:13:42] Speaker 1: It'll give the glow of like I've been taking care
[1:13:44] Speaker 1: of myself. So at night, wash your face, do your
[1:13:48] Speaker 1: routine of washing your face. Then you want to pat
[1:13:52] Speaker 1: yourself dry. I like to put a thick coat on
[1:13:55] Speaker 1: and go to bed. I wake up in the morning,
[1:13:58] Speaker 1: fine line's gone, your face is feeling good, and hydrate it.
[1:14:00] Speaker 1: But I also do it throughout the day. If I'm
[1:14:02] Speaker 1: on a plane, you're traveling, put in your purse. Oh
[1:14:05] Speaker 1: my god, I've been on so many planes late.
[1:14:07] Speaker 2: It's so good. Can I peep me this? That's yours?
[1:14:09] Speaker 1: Okay, good sures You can open it to.
[1:14:13] Speaker 2: Night repair, but it doesn't have to be night, like
[1:14:15] Speaker 2: if I'm on the plane, I.
[1:14:16] Speaker 1: Mean, they say night repair and I get in trouble
[1:14:18] Speaker 1: for this every time. But honestly, you can do it, okay.
[1:14:21] Speaker 2: Right Ryan. They recommend that you use it morning and night.
[1:14:30] Speaker 2: Thank you, Thank you, Ryan, Thanks Ryan. I need it.
[1:14:36] Speaker 1: If you just put it right here, I'm good. It's
[1:14:39] Speaker 1: the wine, Oh my god. And then it isn't that nice?
[1:14:43] Speaker 1: It's even on your hands. I put it on my hands.
[1:14:45] Speaker 1: And then this is the revitalizing. According to Chris Rock,
[1:14:49] Speaker 1: that's how women could tell their age. Chris Rock, I
[1:14:51] Speaker 1: want to see his hands.
[1:14:52] Speaker 2: You gotta get him on the pod because I want
[1:14:54] Speaker 2: to give him a piece of my mind. We should, Chris,
[1:14:56] Speaker 2: where are you? I've never booked somebody to give them
[1:14:57] Speaker 2: a piece of my mind. My god, that would He's
[1:15:00] Speaker 2: so good. I have so many people I would like
[1:15:02] Speaker 2: to give a piece of my mind to this. Right
[1:15:05] Speaker 2: here is the revitalizing supreme plus. I'll take that. I
[1:15:13] Speaker 2: just need it.
[1:15:14] Speaker 1: You can.
[1:15:16] Speaker 2: You can you see the difference? You see? Yeah? I'm
[1:15:28] Speaker 2: into it. Okay.
[1:15:30] Speaker 3: I love that you dad and pat your own makeup, and.
[1:15:36] Speaker 2: I'm for thank you. Okay. We're best friends, so you're
[1:15:39] Speaker 2: best friends. We've just been We've just been separated by distance.
[1:15:42] Speaker 2: Did you try this? Know what I do?
[1:15:44] Speaker 1: This is the revitalizing supreme plus do with this on
[1:15:47] Speaker 1: top of this. You can put it on top of this.
[1:15:49] Speaker 1: But this, you're gonna put it on top of your makeup.
[1:15:53] Speaker 2: No, this is the neck cream that goes face to neck. Yo,
[1:16:00] Speaker 2: Kiki was not lying because your nick is good. It's good,
[1:16:05] Speaker 2: but you got to work on it.
[1:16:06] Speaker 1: I know my neck is okay. Their neck is good,
[1:16:09] Speaker 1: it's not like yours. You like a baby, because you.
[1:16:11] Speaker 2: Gotta go, you have to massage it. I'm so bad,
[1:16:14] Speaker 2: I'm left. I'm good, ready to go.
[1:16:17] Speaker 1: No, I literally spend hours in the bathroom in the morning.
[1:16:21] Speaker 1: Really yes, that would make me and I got to
[1:16:23] Speaker 1: bed at nine. That would make me really ninth.
[1:16:26] Speaker 2: I'm such a dud. I'm really dead. No, we get it.
[1:16:33] Speaker 2: I want to let this go. I want this to
[1:16:37] Speaker 2: just I don't want to edit this either.
[1:16:38] Speaker 1: I want us to have four minutes on camera running
[1:16:41] Speaker 1: the screen through our neck. Now, put the excess on
[1:16:44] Speaker 1: your hands. Though it's good, like your cuticles, it's so good.
[1:16:47] Speaker 2: I definitely use too much.
[1:16:48] Speaker 1: Right, No, I I am I am a such thing.
[1:16:51] Speaker 1: I don't think there's any such thing as too much.
[1:16:54] Speaker 1: Never the more, the isn't that nice? That's really you see,
[1:16:59] Speaker 1: that's really good leaves a nice sheen. Uh yeah, all right,
[1:17:04] Speaker 1: I'm telling you, thank you, Na so exciting.
[1:17:08] Speaker 2: There's more goodies for you too, there is Yeah, we can't.
[1:17:11] Speaker 2: We came. We came with m h he is who
[1:17:20] Speaker 2: is it? So so beautiful? You just you just had
[1:17:27] Speaker 2: to insert that time? Do you have a thing for
[1:17:29] Speaker 2: the guy?
[1:17:31] Speaker 1: No? He was beautiful, beautiful man.
[1:17:35] Speaker 2: It's actually I was like, is this is really good casting?
[1:17:40] Speaker 2: Because for me to turn that down right, you're that girl?
[1:17:44] Speaker 2: I mean, I guess yeah, mm hmm, okay. Do you
[1:17:49] Speaker 2: have a choice in the casting like I did? And
[1:17:51] Speaker 2: I also had Benny Boom direct? Oh I love that,
[1:17:55] Speaker 2: I know.
[1:17:55] Speaker 1: I was like, let us do a nineties throwback and
[1:17:58] Speaker 1: Benny was there and I called him. I was like,
[1:17:59] Speaker 1: could you what do you think about it? Yeah?
[1:18:02] Speaker 2: We had fun. So you picked the guy I picked.
[1:18:05] Speaker 1: They gave me a couple the brand gave me like
[1:18:08] Speaker 1: this is what they gave the storyline and the breakdown,
[1:18:11] Speaker 1: and they said these are the guys we think.
[1:18:12] Speaker 2: What do you think? And we all picked the Broderick Hunter,
[1:18:16] Speaker 2: mister Hunter. You said him, that guy? I said him,
[1:18:21] Speaker 2: you know immediately? Did I know immediately? What was it?
[1:18:24] Speaker 2: What was it? What was the thing that made it?
[1:18:26] Speaker 3: He's beautiful, just as he's beautiful, Corteous. I'm sure they
[1:18:29] Speaker 3: put a bunch of beautiful men in front of you know.
[1:18:32] Speaker 1: It was him and another guy that was good looking,
[1:18:34] Speaker 1: but very different good looking. The other guy was like
[1:18:37] Speaker 1: a little more rugged looking but still really handsome. But
[1:18:41] Speaker 1: I knew for this because it was a quick pop
[1:18:43] Speaker 1: and he was familiar to me because he's an actor.
[1:18:46] Speaker 2: I thought, you know, women are going to recognize him.
[1:18:48] Speaker 1: So it's not it's it's about selling the story, right,
[1:18:52] Speaker 1: Like I can look outside of like him just being
[1:18:54] Speaker 1: a good looking guy, it was also selling the story.
[1:18:57] Speaker 2: He also has really good skin, and he was recognizable.
[1:19:02] Speaker 2: So do you ever do you have you been able
[1:19:04] Speaker 2: to choose leading men before I have? When did you do?
[1:19:09] Speaker 2: Can you say? Or you can't say?
[1:19:10] Speaker 1: Even with love Jones, it was it was Gary Door,
[1:19:14] Speaker 1: Dano and Lorenz tape. You said, and I said, Lorenz.
[1:19:19] Speaker 1: And what happened was is the director showed our screen
[1:19:24] Speaker 1: test to a group of women that were his friends.
[1:19:28] Speaker 1: What they showed both screen tests, mine with Gary and
[1:19:30] Speaker 1: mine with Lorenz, and they were like, definitely them as
[1:19:33] Speaker 1: a couple, and Gary was great too. It was just beautiful, right,
[1:19:38] Speaker 1: But it was just we hadn't seen two brown skinned,
[1:19:41] Speaker 1: black people in love that looked like they were from,
[1:19:45] Speaker 1: you know, the same world, Like we looked right together.
[1:19:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, So isn't that crazy to think? I know that
[1:19:53] Speaker 2: it was. So it was just a good movie too.
[1:19:55] Speaker 1: The you guys, beautiful you guys brought these characters to life,
[1:19:59] Speaker 1: and the music and everything felt so authentic and fresh
[1:20:01] Speaker 1: and new at the time.
[1:20:03] Speaker 2: But now a retrospect, it's like, wow, it took that long,
[1:20:06] Speaker 2: I know to.
[1:20:07] Speaker 1: Show a couple that way in a way that's kind
[1:20:11] Speaker 1: of like wow, you know, I don't know.
[1:20:13] Speaker 3: But now since then, I feel like there's been so
[1:20:15] Speaker 3: many times that we I feel like the floodgates opened.
[1:20:18] Speaker 2: Well because we were coming off this.
[1:20:20] Speaker 1: You know, renaissance of like hood tails, which were also
[1:20:24] Speaker 1: important and great and cinematically beautiful, but they were different
[1:20:28] Speaker 1: slice of life for black and brown people. And then
[1:20:31] Speaker 1: all of a sudden it was like, Okay, how many
[1:20:33] Speaker 1: versions of this can we do?
[1:20:35] Speaker 2: And like there were where's the humanity, where's the love?
[1:20:38] Speaker 1: Because right at the end of the day, that's really
[1:20:39] Speaker 1: what is the most important thing, is love. And so
[1:20:43] Speaker 1: when I read the script, I was like, I have
[1:20:45] Speaker 1: to do this movie. And Helena Etchigoyan, who was a producer,
[1:20:51] Speaker 1: on Friday, it was like, I have this other project
[1:20:53] Speaker 1: I want to share with you, and she's you know,
[1:20:56] Speaker 1: she was like very casual about it, but like she
[1:20:58] Speaker 1: was on the front line fighting for black people to
[1:21:01] Speaker 1: have their stories be told. She since retired from the industry,
[1:21:04] Speaker 1: but what she did do was incredibly important, and she
[1:21:10] Speaker 1: became my friend, and you know, she guided the director
[1:21:15] Speaker 1: on what to write and how to you know, put
[1:21:17] Speaker 1: the whole thing together, and she.
[1:21:18] Speaker 2: Got maybe she got the movie green lit.
[1:21:20] Speaker 1: Wow, And it was considered a flop when it came
[1:21:22] Speaker 1: out because it didn't make very much money. But you know,
[1:21:24] Speaker 1: the thing is is it was a cult classic. They
[1:21:27] Speaker 1: didn't put the money behind it, they didn't put the
[1:21:29] Speaker 1: marketing behind it. They said, yeah, we'll do this movie,
[1:21:31] Speaker 1: but we're not going to put much money behind it,
[1:21:32] Speaker 1: and see, we'll just see what happens. And then and
[1:21:36] Speaker 1: then it became a cult classic and we just did
[1:21:38] Speaker 1: another film Together, which is a very different film.
[1:21:40] Speaker 2: I love that, but I love lorenz Is the chemistry still, Yes,
[1:21:45] Speaker 2: we still what is that?
[1:21:46] Speaker 1: It's it's I tell them all the time. I completely
[1:21:51] Speaker 1: trust him. I completely trust him.
[1:21:56] Speaker 2: As my guy in a movie.
[1:21:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, and he completely trusts me, and I can say, like,
[1:22:03] Speaker 1: we can have very honest conversations and we can agree
[1:22:06] Speaker 1: or disagree, but there's a there's a there's a kinship there.
[1:22:12] Speaker 1: And I think we also know what we hold for
[1:22:14] Speaker 1: the community, and so we guard that and I especially
[1:22:19] Speaker 1: guarded it in this last project because I was very
[1:22:22] Speaker 1: like hyper sensitive to making sure.
[1:22:27] Speaker 2: We were in pocket.
[1:22:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, the standard, that's it, because you can't be what
[1:22:34] Speaker 1: everyone else is doing if you're one of the originators.
[1:22:38] Speaker 2: So that shitn't me up.
[1:22:40] Speaker 1: I mean, that's the only shit I'm going to talk
[1:22:42] Speaker 1: today because it's not even an ego thing.
[1:22:45] Speaker 2: It's just fat Yes, what it is? Okay, all right.
[1:22:49] Speaker 1: In life, okay in real life, life, in real life.
[1:22:52] Speaker 2: Tell me what are you most proud about about your career?
[1:22:55] Speaker 2: And you in who you are? And I am so proud.
[1:23:00] Speaker 1: That I've lasted this long that I still have a
[1:23:03] Speaker 1: place in a space of relevance that I am so
[1:23:06] Speaker 1: supported and beloved by women and that I, even though
[1:23:12] Speaker 1: I don't always know them, know where the love is
[1:23:18] Speaker 1: coming from. I feel the vibration and that support and
[1:23:22] Speaker 1: a genuine connection that I've been able to connect with women,
[1:23:27] Speaker 1: with black women that look like me, that don't look
[1:23:30] Speaker 1: like me, but are a part of who I am,
[1:23:34] Speaker 1: you know, because we're all connected in some ways. So
[1:23:36] Speaker 1: I'm really proud that I've been able to make that impact.
[1:23:41] Speaker 2: And I think that.
[1:23:43] Speaker 1: They're sure there are other accolades that maybe others have
[1:23:47] Speaker 1: gotten that I haven't gotten, But where I am is
[1:23:50] Speaker 1: the sweet spot because they never leave, you know what
[1:23:54] Speaker 1: I mean, Like they're always there there.
[1:23:57] Speaker 2: I can always turn to my core.
[1:24:02] Speaker 1: Group of supporters and know that they have my back,
[1:24:05] Speaker 1: and that to me is more important than any award,
[1:24:08] Speaker 1: than any red carpet, than any anything, because it's a
[1:24:13] Speaker 1: connection to humanity and at the end of the day,
[1:24:15] Speaker 1: that's what's really most important to me. I mean, the
[1:24:17] Speaker 1: whole point of art is to make people feel something,
[1:24:22] Speaker 1: whether it's visual, whether you're on stage, whether you're on film,
[1:24:26] Speaker 1: on television, on the radio. Is to evoke. And that
[1:24:29] Speaker 1: was your prayer today too. That's so funny to say that.
[1:24:31] Speaker 1: I know, I just thought my prayer for the pod
[1:24:33] Speaker 1: was that we would have a conversation that would empower, inspire,
[1:24:38] Speaker 1: or make somebody feel seen.
[1:24:40] Speaker 3: My mother's calling, Oh my, you look answer the phone.
[1:24:44] Speaker 3: Why she just hung up and we're almost done, I know,
[1:24:47] Speaker 3: but she'll be like, Hi, are you coming back?
[1:24:51] Speaker 2: Okay, We're almost I thought we were going for a walk,
[1:24:55] Speaker 2: is how.
[1:24:56] Speaker 1: She definitely has a strong New York accent.
[1:25:00] Speaker 2: That's very cute in real life. What are you still
[1:25:02] Speaker 2: working on? Myself? Forever? Forever, forever in a day, just
[1:25:08] Speaker 2: being aware, just being conscious, just deciding what I can
[1:25:12] Speaker 2: be better at, and deciding what I am, what I
[1:25:16] Speaker 2: am committed to, because there's certain things that are just
[1:25:18] Speaker 2: not going to change. When was the last time you
[1:25:21] Speaker 2: cried from gratitude?
[1:25:24] Speaker 1: The other day, I cried from gratitude actually on the
[1:25:27] Speaker 1: flight here because of my star in Hollywood Boulevard, because
[1:25:33] Speaker 1: I was thinking about the times my mom and I
[1:25:35] Speaker 1: used to walk on Hollywood Boulevard and we would read
[1:25:40] Speaker 1: the names of the stars on the street and she'd say, well,
[1:25:43] Speaker 1: one day you're going to have a star in Hollywood Boulevard.
[1:25:45] Speaker 1: I was like nine, and before I even started acting,
[1:25:48] Speaker 1: I was on the flight. I started crying. I started
[1:25:50] Speaker 1: thinking about how incredibly blessed I am and how this
[1:25:53] Speaker 1: journey has been not easy at all, and it's.
[1:25:56] Speaker 2: Still not easy. But there's something cool about it because
[1:26:01] Speaker 2: it just seemed like.
[1:26:02] Speaker 1: The most unrealistic thing that could ever happen to my life,
[1:26:09] Speaker 1: and now it's happening.
[1:26:10] Speaker 3: I think you're giving me a message now too, because
[1:26:12] Speaker 3: you know I got one for radio. They have a
[1:26:14] Speaker 3: radio Cadina got.
[1:26:15] Speaker 2: A star on Ah. No, well I was. I received
[1:26:18] Speaker 2: the invitation that I got. I won the thing.
[1:26:21] Speaker 3: I yes, never have gone to accept it because number one,
[1:26:24] Speaker 3: it's expensive.
[1:26:25] Speaker 2: It's expense. I know, you have to get someone to
[1:26:27] Speaker 2: pay for it. And then the Lionsgate treated me. Oh
[1:26:30] Speaker 2: and that nice. That is nice. I thought it was
[1:26:32] Speaker 2: really cool.
[1:26:33] Speaker 3: I'm gonna get somebody to treat me because I'm like,
[1:26:35] Speaker 3: do I really care about this?
[1:26:37] Speaker 2: Yess you care. I didn't know if I did, but
[1:26:39] Speaker 2: now you're making me feel like I should.
[1:26:40] Speaker 1: Well, well, here's the thing. It's not about the star
[1:26:44] Speaker 1: being on the ground. It's about the acknowledgment of your
[1:26:50] Speaker 1: body of work. And when you're gone, there's going to
[1:26:54] Speaker 1: be some amazing Latina radio host who's going to look
[1:27:00] Speaker 1: back on what you did and go, oh.
[1:27:03] Speaker 2: She did it. I could do it too.
[1:27:04] Speaker 1: So it's legacy, right like, and we're and because we're
[1:27:08] Speaker 1: like real people, the idea of legacy is kind of like, oh,
[1:27:12] Speaker 1: that's is that what I'm doing because we're as first,
[1:27:15] Speaker 1: I'm concerned. I'm just living. I'm not planning for this
[1:27:19] Speaker 1: to be some legacy.
[1:27:21] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[1:27:22] Speaker 1: But if you threaten what I've done, that's when I
[1:27:26] Speaker 1: realize it's legacy.
[1:27:27] Speaker 2: We're the same human being. Yeah, I'm like, you're not
[1:27:29] Speaker 2: about to mess up.
[1:27:30] Speaker 3: Sometimes I'll see stories and I'll feel written out of something.
[1:27:34] Speaker 3: That's when I feel threatened. And that's the times where
[1:27:37] Speaker 3: I'm like, let me, let me remind, like just how
[1:27:39] Speaker 3: you gotta remind just how you did about love Jones being.
[1:27:44] Speaker 1: That is ours for this new storytelling, yes, or the
[1:27:50] Speaker 1: beginning of this new storytelling or protective and that started
[1:27:52] Speaker 1: in the nineties. Yeah, yeah, you gotta remind. I just
[1:27:56] Speaker 1: think that's a lesson for women.
[1:27:57] Speaker 3: Yes, whether you're an actress, whether you do what I do, whatever, Like,
[1:28:00] Speaker 3: I just think the lesson for women is like sometimes.
[1:28:03] Speaker 1: It's okay to brush your shoulders off. Yeah, remind the
[1:28:06] Speaker 1: motherfucker all day. What's what you have?
[1:28:10] Speaker 2: Worked really hard? Because men do it all the time. Yeah,
[1:28:13] Speaker 2: shit was hard. It was hard, and we did some
[1:28:15] Speaker 2: dope shit and we did dope. I did that. Yeah,
[1:28:18] Speaker 2: in real life, what's a guilty pleasure?
[1:28:21] Speaker 1: Guilty pleasure? That probably shopped too much? I probably shop
[1:28:28] Speaker 1: to shop. That's where we're good ship.
[1:28:32] Speaker 2: We're not the same. I hate shopping. I want you too.
[1:28:35] Speaker 2: I want to die. I'm not even online. You don't
[1:28:37] Speaker 2: have to go do.
[1:28:38] Speaker 1: It online, but then it comes and I gotta try
[1:28:39] Speaker 1: it on and I gotta ship it back if it
[1:28:41] Speaker 1: doesn't fit.
[1:28:41] Speaker 2: It's like, you know, work of shopping. I really don't care.
[1:28:44] Speaker 1: So we should vacation together, because then I wouldn't spend
[1:28:47] Speaker 1: unnecessary money.
[1:28:48] Speaker 2: If somebody could lay my clothes out for me today
[1:28:50] Speaker 2: every day. Oh you would like that. I would.
[1:28:52] Speaker 1: I would hate that you would, yes, because what if
[1:28:54] Speaker 1: I'm not in the mood for that?
[1:28:57] Speaker 2: Fair enough?
[1:28:57] Speaker 1: But if it looked fine enough, I swear and I'm like,
[1:29:01] Speaker 1: it's fine, I'll wear this.
[1:29:03] Speaker 2: Give me the podcast. No, that's I can't swear this.
[1:29:06] Speaker 2: It's fine. Yeah, I can't with the shopping and the
[1:29:09] Speaker 2: do you overpack? Yes, because I don't know what I'm
[1:29:12] Speaker 2: gonna wear.
[1:29:12] Speaker 1: I just throw everything in and then when I get there,
[1:29:14] Speaker 1: I'll figure out which of this I'm gonna throw one.
[1:29:16] Speaker 2: It's terrible. I don't have that, really, girl, Jane of like.
[1:29:21] Speaker 1: Every You know, what I find with myself is that
[1:29:24] Speaker 1: I'm a sucker for like trying something new, so right now,
[1:29:29] Speaker 1: and this is my goal. When I leave this New
[1:29:30] Speaker 1: York trip, I have every single thing that I need.
[1:29:34] Speaker 2: I don't need. I don't need a sock.
[1:29:38] Speaker 1: I have the I have the little hot, trendy Michael
[1:29:41] Speaker 1: Jackson socks to wear with my loafers like I have it.
[1:29:44] Speaker 2: I should have worn him today, but I didn't bring up.
[1:29:46] Speaker 2: But it would have been cute with this out, really cute. Okay.
[1:29:50] Speaker 1: When I get home, it's purging because now I'm at
[1:29:54] Speaker 1: the place where I only want the things that actually
[1:29:56] Speaker 1: really work for me, and I want to give everything.
[1:29:58] Speaker 2: Else away, the things I love.
[1:30:01] Speaker 1: The things I love. I don't want the things I
[1:30:04] Speaker 1: kind of love. I want these things I have a
[1:30:07] Speaker 1: deep loving connection with.
[1:30:11] Speaker 2: Besides, it's probably crazy. It's gotta be crazy crazy. You
[1:30:16] Speaker 2: got pieces from the nineties I do in storage.
[1:30:19] Speaker 1: I bet I still have my Kenneth Cole black snake
[1:30:23] Speaker 1: embossed shoes that I wore when Prince tried to talk to.
[1:30:26] Speaker 2: Me and I didn't know who it was. Prince, did
[1:30:29] Speaker 2: you keep them? Because it was Yeah.
[1:30:31] Speaker 1: I was like, this was the night I met Denzel
[1:30:33] Speaker 1: Washington and Prince in the same night.
[1:30:35] Speaker 2: I'm going to keep these. I'm keeping these pumps from
[1:30:37] Speaker 2: my daughter because surely she'll have some. I don't. I mean,
[1:30:39] Speaker 2: I'm never going to have a daughter, but my granddaughter. Yeah,
[1:30:42] Speaker 2: was done with kids? Was he shooting a shop? Was
[1:30:44] Speaker 2: a shop being a prince? Yeah? Oh? Yes.
[1:30:48] Speaker 1: He grabbed my hand and I was like, And then
[1:30:52] Speaker 1: we got to the car and my hate and ask
[1:30:54] Speaker 1: girlfriend at the time, because she should have told me earlier, like,
[1:30:57] Speaker 1: let's be re real of this Prince. She goes, girl,
[1:30:59] Speaker 1: you know that Prince. I go, why didn't you tell
[1:31:01] Speaker 1: me before we left the building?
[1:31:03] Speaker 2: So how would you inflate this different?
[1:31:05] Speaker 1: I well, if I knew it was Prince, I would
[1:31:07] Speaker 1: have just turned around and said hello.
[1:31:10] Speaker 2: And then I met him years later.
[1:31:11] Speaker 1: Once I became an actress, and I was like, I
[1:31:15] Speaker 1: met you a long time ago, and he was lovely.
[1:31:17] Speaker 1: But we talked about my hair the whole time because
[1:31:20] Speaker 1: he liked my haircut. He was no longer shooting a shot,
[1:31:23] Speaker 1: he was not. Oh, so he wasn't giving you the arm.
[1:31:25] Speaker 2: Touch because you would knee alone, because you weren't even knee alone.
[1:31:28] Speaker 1: No, he was giving me the arm touch because I
[1:31:30] Speaker 1: was petite and brown and that's what he likes. And
[1:31:34] Speaker 1: you know, he's like, who's this little young hot girl
[1:31:37] Speaker 1: in the fake leather momps.
[1:31:41] Speaker 2: And the outpha that I wore to every party? And
[1:31:43] Speaker 2: then what was that? How did you meet Denzel on
[1:31:45] Speaker 2: the same day? Denzel was just there?
[1:31:47] Speaker 1: I mean I didn't talk to Denzel at that point,
[1:31:49] Speaker 1: but I was like, Denzel Washington's.
[1:31:52] Speaker 2: Here putting these shoes and storage putting these shoes have
[1:31:56] Speaker 2: miles on them in real life? What is something that
[1:31:59] Speaker 2: you were no longer apologizing for knowing what I know?
[1:32:10] Speaker 2: And I'm also not negotiating, m I'm not.
[1:32:13] Speaker 1: I can't no apologizing, no negotiating.
[1:32:18] Speaker 2: Now. I'm open to learning and growing and understanding.
[1:32:24] Speaker 1: But what I know works for myself is part of
[1:32:28] Speaker 1: my truth and that's not negotiable.
[1:32:31] Speaker 2: Like you know, I do you might question, but you know,
[1:32:34] Speaker 2: we always know.
[1:32:35] Speaker 1: We always know, and we convince ourselves for other mad
[1:32:41] Speaker 1: different reasons to ignore the things that we know.
[1:32:44] Speaker 2: And you've known it for a long time. Yeah, so
[1:32:47] Speaker 2: now you listen to that now.
[1:32:48] Speaker 1: I don't even like if there's a part of me
[1:32:51] Speaker 1: that even wants to try to doubt it for thirty seconds,
[1:32:56] Speaker 1: I like, no, you know, it's freedom. That's where the
[1:33:00] Speaker 1: freedom is when you know what you know. Otherwise you're
[1:33:03] Speaker 1: like trapped inside of your head and you're yeah, so
[1:33:06] Speaker 1: good going back and forth. Okay, last two, Yeah, do
[1:33:10] Speaker 1: you pray foremost?
[1:33:13] Speaker 2: H I pay for pray for patience because I'm not
[1:33:17] Speaker 2: the most patient person in the world. We've learned that
[1:33:19] Speaker 2: about you. Yeah, I'm not. I try, but it's like
[1:33:22] Speaker 2: so many things are really obvious to me that I'm like,
[1:33:25] Speaker 2: how do you not see that? Yeah? How do you
[1:33:27] Speaker 2: not see that? Do you not see? Get away from me?
[1:33:34] Speaker 1: Because its about to tell you that means that we're
[1:33:36] Speaker 1: not on the same trajectory. I get really impatient when
[1:33:44] Speaker 1: I'm working really hard and I'm tired, and I feel
[1:33:49] Speaker 1: like other people are not rising to their occasion listen
[1:33:55] Speaker 1: to me, So I have to now engage in your
[1:33:57] Speaker 1: motherfucking occasion when I'm trying to just hold on to
[1:34:02] Speaker 1: you know, that is the realest thing. Ever, how do
[1:34:08] Speaker 1: you manage it? Because I just tell everyone to leave,
[1:34:10] Speaker 1: I'm like, get out, and then then then they never
[1:34:14] Speaker 1: want to come back.
[1:34:14] Speaker 2: And then I'm like doing all the work by myself.
[1:34:18] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, bitch, you do it all you want to go?
[1:34:21] Speaker 2: Go yeah no, and then you're like shit, I'm like.
[1:34:24] Speaker 1: Help, well, it's you know, we will try to figure
[1:34:30] Speaker 1: it out.
[1:34:30] Speaker 2: No, I try to be more patient.
[1:34:32] Speaker 1: I find that when you actually explain yourself where you're
[1:34:35] Speaker 1: coming from, people go oh, because they're not thinking what
[1:34:39] Speaker 1: I'm thinking. No one can read my mind. Yeah, you know,
[1:34:42] Speaker 1: how's that working for you? The part, I think the
[1:34:47] Speaker 1: hard part about it is that when you're famous, nobody
[1:34:50] Speaker 1: wants to really tell you, and everyone's like good caah,
[1:34:53] Speaker 1: I got it, Oh yes.
[1:34:55] Speaker 2: Yeah, And I don't I really want you to understand.
[1:34:57] Speaker 1: I don't want you to feel like you have to
[1:34:59] Speaker 1: placate me, like, let's have the tough conversations. Yeah, let's
[1:35:03] Speaker 1: dig deep. Let's you can tell me that I'm being whatever.
[1:35:06] Speaker 1: I don't care, it's not gonna make me not like you.
[1:35:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's good. Yeah, that keeps you from having yes
[1:35:12] Speaker 3: men around you.
[1:35:13] Speaker 2: Yes, I'm like, say the truth, say what it is.
[1:35:15] Speaker 2: I'm gonna let's put it on the table.
[1:35:17] Speaker 1: Let's put it on the table and dissect it, because
[1:35:19] Speaker 1: when we rebuild, we're gonna be.
[1:35:21] Speaker 2: On solid foundation. If you're flimming and flamming and dipping
[1:35:24] Speaker 2: and dapping, I don't really.
[1:35:26] Speaker 1: Or we can get to the truth quicker that this
[1:35:28] Speaker 1: doesn't work. That's it right, Yes, process of elimination.
[1:35:35] Speaker 2: Let's just get to it.
[1:35:36] Speaker 1: Let's get to it because in work, in relationships.
[1:35:40] Speaker 2: Everything, in friendships, everything, let's get to it. If we're
[1:35:43] Speaker 2: going to be lovers, we're lovers.
[1:35:45] Speaker 1: If we're going to be in a deep, heavy relationship
[1:35:47] Speaker 1: where that, If we're gonna be friends where that.
[1:35:49] Speaker 2: If we're gonna be business partners like you can do that.
[1:35:53] Speaker 1: Yes, there's no more gray area. Yes, my queen, twin queen,
[1:36:03] Speaker 1: I hate g gray is horrid, It's terrible.
[1:36:06] Speaker 2: What sign are you Capricorn? Oh?
[1:36:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, I like Capricorn woman. Y'all don't play what are you?
[1:36:10] Speaker 1: I'm a scorpio? Serious about your business?
[1:36:13] Speaker 2: A little crazy though, No Scorpios, is that is that
[1:36:16] Speaker 2: not a thing. No, we're sexual, Oh we like to Yeah,
[1:36:20] Speaker 2: we're very passionate.
[1:36:22] Speaker 1: She's sexual, she didn't say passionate. Well, those are the same.
[1:36:27] Speaker 1: You could be sexual and passionate. But I would say
[1:36:31] Speaker 1: I would say we feel things. I feel things deeply.
[1:36:35] Speaker 1: I can't speak for every Scorpio person, but I feel things,
[1:36:39] Speaker 1: and I also know the truth in every situation.
[1:36:43] Speaker 2: So people will call you crazy, but it's not that. No,
[1:36:46] Speaker 2: I'm I don't think anyone's ever called me crazy. Well,
[1:36:48] Speaker 2: not you. I'm saying maybe they have. I don't really care.
[1:36:52] Speaker 2: That's one of those things that I don't give a fuck.
[1:36:54] Speaker 2: I don't give a fuck you call me crazy, all right?
[1:36:56] Speaker 2: Our final question every episode to every guest.
[1:36:59] Speaker 1: Okay, if God were to text you right now, it's
[1:37:04] Speaker 1: a message to nia from God directly.
[1:37:08] Speaker 2: I'm tuning in to him. What would it say, Good
[1:37:12] Speaker 2: job girl today or in life? In life?
[1:37:19] Speaker 1: I think in life, good job because he knows how
[1:37:22] Speaker 1: hard work and he also knows my heart, so that
[1:37:28] Speaker 1: good job girl, good job.
[1:37:34] Speaker 2: This is me along in real life. Hey guys, thanks
