On November 25th, 2025, Nvidia did something they've never done before: they publicly defended themselves. After reports broke that Meta is negotiating a multi-billion dollar deal to buy Google's AI chips instead of Nvidia's GPUs, Nvidia posted a defensive tweet claiming they're "a generation ahead" of ASICs like Google's TPUs. But if Nvidia is so far ahead, why are they tweeting about it? And why is Meta—their second-largest customer—trying to break free? In this deep dive, we break down the secret war for AI chips, analyze Nvidia's "panic tweet" line by line, and explain why Google is now racing toward a $4 trillion valuation while Nvidia's monopoly crumbles. [0:00] When a company is truly invincible, they don't tweet
[0:02] about their competitors. They ignored them.
[0:04] But on November 25th, 2025, NVIDIA broke that rule.
[0:09] After the news leak that made-up the second largest customer is
[0:12] negotiating to dump them for Google.
[0:15] NVIDIA posted this. We're delighted by Google's
[0:18] success. NVIDIA is a generation ahead.
[0:20] NVIDIA offers greater performance than ethics.
[0:23] Do you hear that? That isn't a congratulation,
[0:26] That is the sound of a monopoly getting nervous.
[0:29] For the first time in the AI era.
[0:31] Yensen Huang is on defensive, Meta is betraying them, Google
[0:35] is coming for their lunch, and the secret call for AI chips has
[0:39] just gone public. Let's read between the lines.
[0:43] First, let's recap the bombshell.
[0:45] On November 24, 2025, reports wrote that Meta is an active
[0:49] talks to leads and by Google's TPU chips.
[0:53] This is Mark Zuckerberg saying I'm done with the NVIDIA
[0:56] attacks, he's looking for a way out.
[0:58] And Nvidia's response on November 25th.
[1:00] This tweet is fascinating because it tells us exactly what
[1:03] they're afraid of. Look at the last sentence.
[1:06] NVIDIA offers greater performance than ASICS.
[1:10] This is a direct shot at Google Tpus.
[1:13] Tensor processing units are ASICS application specific
[1:16] integrated circuits. NVIDIA is trying to frame
[1:20] Google's chips as limited and inflexible compared to their
[1:23] versatile GPUs. It is a classic PR move.
[1:27] NVIDIA is trying to convince the market that specialized chips
[1:29] like Google's are a trap. But if that were true, why would
[1:33] Meta, the company trying to build the most advanced AI
[1:37] models in the world, be trying to buy them?
[1:39] The answer is simple efficiency. Why NVIDIA is busy tweeting
[1:44] defences. Google is busy hitting all time
[1:47] highs. On November 25th, 2025, Alphabet
[1:50] stocks surged, putting them on track for a $4 trillion
[1:53] valuation. The market realizes that
[1:56] Google's ASICS, the ones NVIDIA just marked, might actually be
[2:00] the future of AI at scale. NVIDIA is right about one thing,
[2:04] their GPUs can do everything. But Google ships are designed to
[2:08] do one thing perfectly, run AI models.
[2:11] Google claims their new Axion chips and Tpus are 30% faster
[2:16] and 60% more energy efficient for these specific tasks.
[2:20] When you are meta and you're spending $50 billion a year on
[2:23] infrastructure, you don't care about versatility.
[2:26] You care about running Llama 4 without going bankrupt on
[2:29] electricity bills. By calling out ASICS in that
[2:32] tweet, NVIDIA accidentally highlighted their biggest
[2:35] weakness for massive specific workloads.
[2:37] A general purpose GPU is inefficient and Google is
[2:41] winning that efficiency war. So does that tweet mean NVIDIA
[2:45] is doomed? No, they're still the only
[2:48] platform that runs every EI model.
[2:50] Just like they said. But the fact that they felt the
[2:53] need to say it proves that the era of total monopoly is over.
[2:58] Meta is talking to Google. Amazon has Tranium, Microsoft
[3:03] has Maya, and now NVIDIA is on X arguing with the narrative.
[3:09] When the king starts explaining why he's still the king, the
[3:12] Kingdom is usually in trouble. We are watching the regime
[3:15] change in real time. NVIDIA isn't just fighting
[3:18] Google anymore, they're fighting their own customers who want to
[3:21] become independent. That tweet wasn't a flex, it was
[3:24] a flinch. What do you think?
[3:25] Is Nvidia's response confident or desperate?
[3:28] And who wins the tug of war for Meta, Yensen or Sundar?
[3:33] Let me know what you think in the comments and we'll be back
[3:35] next week with another story from the front lines of Global
[3:38] Investing VC10X.
