In this episode of The Money Mentor Podcast, we sit down with Jon & Nicole, alongside Alex, to share a deeply personal and inspiring journey of resilience, structure, and long term financial clarity. Before joining Infinity, Jon & Nicole were juggling a $450k home loan, personal loans, credit card debt, and the emotional weight of nearly two decades battling serious health challenges. Despite solid savings and super, money still felt complex and overwhelming, with no clear strategy for the future. Since joining Infinity in December 2023, everything has shifted. They’ve eliminated all personal and car loans, cut up the credit cards, significantly reduced their home loan while building redraw, and created a clear path toward downsizing and becoming fully debt free. Along the way, they’ve purchased three investment properties (including two in super), locked in an FFF of $530 per week, and brought structure, confidence, and calm back into their finances, as a family. With the ongoing support of the Infinity community, Jon & Nicole show how education, consistency, and the right guidance can create freedom even through life’s toughest seasons. 👉 Watch the free webinar to start your journey: https://bit.ly/43V2jKN

[0:00] to believe in the process and do exactly what it is and basically follow everything it asks like exactly you will see the outcome in the end and you'll be able to leave yeah like we said a legacy for your children and be happy with each other with that you know
[0:18] Everyone always says, yeah, budgets are restrictive and all that stuff, but it's not.
[0:22] Money isn't rude of all evil, the fucking lack of it is.
[0:24] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:27] When I put that into emphasis, when I realise our psychological effect and how it hit our family, I have to be in the fucking way.
[0:34] You are now watching the Money Mentor Podcast with Graham Holm.
[0:37] Graham Holm.
[0:38] Graham Holm.
[0:39] Graham Holm.
[0:39] Graham Holm.
[0:42] you're fucking gone.
[0:43] See ya.
[0:44] Well, welcome to this little bonus episode, the episode after the big episode.
[0:50] We are here to talk about what it's like in the kind of day-to-day, what your lives are like when the strategy's in place and when you're looking at your budget and you're going, oh, what do we do here?
[1:02] What's it like having an RM and having someone in your life like a relationship manager?
[1:09] Well, we're lucky we've got Erin.
[1:11] Yeah, we love Erin.
[1:12] She's lovely, absolutely lovely.
[1:14] She's our go-to girl.
[1:15] Yeah.
[1:16] She's our tick girl.
[1:18] So if Erin says yes and then runs it by G or Infinity or the whole group of people that make this company such...
[1:28] success of what they do then we go okay Erin's amazing so you can message Erin you can email Erin and she'll always get back to you but being on the phone to Erin she is an everyday person but is so passionate about what she does that she wants to see you succeed
[1:47] And that is really, really big to have that support behind you.
[1:51] Yeah, absolutely.
[1:52] Very encouraging.
[1:53] Very encouraging.
[1:54] Supportive.
[1:55] Very.
[1:56] Yeah.
[1:56] It does make a difference.
[1:58] We've been very lucky that we've never been reprimanded.
[2:01] We've never been in trouble.
[2:03] We've been good.
[2:03] We're good students.
[2:04] No naughty corner for you guys.
[2:05] We're no naughty corner.
[2:07] So we tend to do what is told.
[2:09] Yeah.
[2:10] But if we have a strategy and we run it by her, then she always gets back to us.
[2:14] And it's good knowing that you have someone behind you like her.
[2:17] Yeah.
[2:17] Was it always, did you always feel like that?
[2:20] Or was it something you kind of had to get used to letting someone into looking at your bank account?
[2:23] We had a sort of a shaky start in terms of staff in that sense.
[2:29] Yeah.
[2:29] Our RM changed like three or four times within the first three or four months.
[2:32] Yeah.
[2:33] And that was just because when we joined, the growth was happening.
[2:35] Massive.
[2:36] So everyone was getting promoted.
[2:37] Everyone was getting into the place.
[2:39] So yeah, so it took a little while for that to settle.
[2:41] But once we got her and then yes, it was...
[2:43] Amazing.
[2:43] Yeah.
[2:44] Just structured and amazing.
[2:46] Make the appointments, do turn up.
[2:49] Great.
[2:49] Awesome.
[2:50] Like you said, we can pretty much message, call whenever.
[2:53] Yeah.
[2:54] Not always then and there, but she will always get back to us.
[2:58] Yeah.
[2:58] What are those messages and calls about kind of, you know, thinking about people who have worked with banks or other financial companies and they've kind of done their thing and they're ticked off and that's it?
[3:10] What kind of things are you able to or what kind of things do you go to Erin about?
[3:15] We might, I might be looking at, for instance, our super and say to John, okay, we've actually built up enough in our super.
[3:23] What about we talk to Erin?
[3:25] Let's book and go to a REM and let's go.
[3:28] Let's go again.
[3:28] And she'll be like, what is it?
[3:30] Let me have a look at your numbers.
[3:32] I'll run it.
[3:33] Well, at the time we had Zaki, again, another amazing member.
[3:37] Yeah, that's pretty good.
[3:38] Still loves Zaki.
[3:41] run it by Zaki, get back to you.
[3:42] And if Zaki says yay, then it's a yay and we go ahead.
[3:47] Things like that.
[3:48] If we wanted to go on a holiday that we'd saved enough money for in our FFF that we stuck to our budget and kept coming under our budget so we could save money.
[3:59] And then we went on a holiday and we ran it by Erin first still.
[4:02] She goes, but that's your FFF.
[4:03] I said, doesn't matter.
[4:05] You're still our relationship manager.
[4:07] Are we allowed?
[4:08] She goes, go for it.
[4:09] So anything, anything.
[4:11] She's there to talk to about your finances.
[4:14] Like Infinity RMs are few and far between.
[4:19] It is really hard to find that type of community within a company that is so supportive.
[4:25] Yeah, it's such an unusual thing to have that person inside your finances.
[4:31] I think a lot of people find that an odd concept.
[4:34] But I think once you start, I don't hear anyone saying that it's difficult or bad.
[4:41] What makes it work?
[4:42] Honesty.
[4:44] Openness.
[4:47] You've got to be told no because if you get told...
[4:51] It's accountability.
[4:52] Yeah.
[4:53] If you're told no to and then you get the yes, it's like, oh, yeah, I feel good about that.
[4:58] That was a good decision.
[5:00] Okay, I understand why you said no.
[5:02] But it is accountability for your own finances.
[5:04] But knowing that someone behind you is there to prompt you to grow
[5:11] to help assist you i mean that's massive as we said it hasn't really been for us because we do try and stick to everything but yeah for other people that we've seen um you know sometimes you do need that little nudge just to go hey yeah what'd you do that for why are you doing that just to pull you back like a naughty kid get back in line yeah
[5:33] But just that support.
[5:35] Yeah, support's amazing.
[5:36] Support's amazing.
[5:37] Just, as I said, you might not necessarily use them, but knowing that they're there is kind of that nice feeling as well.
[5:46] And, you know, I've asked Erin questions and she won't know the answer.
[5:50] And I love how she says, I don't know that much about that, but I'll get back to you and I'll find out.
[5:57] That honesty, openness, that means you've got a good relationship with your manager.
[6:02] Your relationship manager's there for that reason.
[6:05] You've got to be open.
[6:07] So how did you go kind of putting that budget in place and what's changed with your budgeting and the way that you spend money and has there been anything that you were like, oh, well?
[6:16] No, we got our budget that we have to stick to every week and we've just stuck to it from the time it started.
[6:23] What is it at the moment?
[6:24] 5.30.
[6:25] Yeah.
[6:25] And that's you guys?
[6:27] Just the two of us.
[6:28] Yeah.
[6:28] And her daughter.
[6:30] Now.
[6:31] Her daughter's about to leave.
[6:32] She's about to leave home.
[6:33] Yeah, she's about to leave home.
[6:35] So we still have her.
[6:36] But no, we stick to it.
[6:38] But we're under most weeks.
[6:40] So that can probably be reviewed again once the daughter's out.
[6:43] Yeah.
[6:44] We can probably revisit that and bring that down a little bit, I reckon, as well.
[6:47] Yeah, absolutely.
[6:48] So, yeah, we stick to it.
[6:50] When we're told something, we just do it.
[6:52] And basically we've seen what it's done for us.
[6:57] So why wouldn't you stick to what?
[6:59] Why would you stop?
[7:00] Exactly.
[7:01] Yeah.
[7:01] Exactly.
[7:02] Is that what makes it easier that there is like what's the thing that kind of makes you think every day, I'm not going to.
[7:08] get that coffee or I'm not going to, you know, go and get that extra bit of the supermarket that we maybe don't need.
[7:15] What is the vision?
[7:17] Do you have in your mind or do you hear Aaron's voice or is it?
[7:20] Yeah, a bit of that.
[7:21] It's a bit of, you know, what would Aaron say or...
[7:24] I also think of it and go, do I need it?
[7:25] But it's also knowing the results.
[7:27] Do I need to have that?
[7:29] Can't I just make a coffee in my moon cup and off I go to work and save $10?
[7:35] So two coffees, it adds up.
[7:38] So you buy a good coffee machine, make your own coffee, take it to work.
[7:41] You're still having what everybody else does.
[7:44] You're just not going to the shop and buying it.
[7:47] um when it comes to groceries you know we're pretty structured on how we are and how we like to eat but if I want to have that little splurge once a month or once every two months buy that extra cheese that I really enjoy having well then we will and we don't feel guilty for it because we stick to our budget and the strategy so saving a little bit of money every week off our FFF makes us so excited and we're happy to see it grow
[8:14] Isn't it fun?
[8:14] Everyone says it's like a little game.
[8:16] It is.
[8:16] Just watching those stuff.
[8:17] It is.
[8:18] It is.
[8:18] It's like, oh, I only spent $180 on groceries this week.
[8:21] Yes, that was great.
[8:23] So good.
[8:24] So what was the holiday that you guys managed by doing the little savings?
[8:28] We went to Bali.
[8:29] Bali, yes.
[8:30] Yeah, for three weeks.
[8:31] Three weeks.
[8:32] Just chilling together.
[8:33] Just travelled around Bali, seeing different places.
[8:36] As we said in the podcast, we had some good results with Nikki's health, so that was a celebratory.
[8:41] Yeah, it was wonderful.
[8:43] Yeah.
[8:44] Oh, you deserve it.
[8:45] Yeah.
[8:45] And you earned it.
[8:46] It's not like... Yeah, and we're safe for it.
[8:48] Yeah.
[8:49] So it was good.
[8:50] That's so good.
[8:51] Yeah.
[8:52] What's the community like?
[8:54] Because, you know, when I first kind of learned about the Infinity Fam, I was like, what is this?
[8:58] What is this business?
[9:00] Is it a cult?
[9:00] Yeah.
[9:01] Well, it obviously is a cult, but we're kind of okay with that.
[9:04] I'll lean into that part of it.
[9:06] Yeah.
[9:08] The community is amazing.
[9:09] I don't even know how to describe it.
[9:11] We've made some amazing friends from it.
[9:13] Yeah.
[9:14] Jeremy and Megan are like, I can't even explain how I feel towards those guys.
[9:21] But more recently, we've had some great discussions with Alex and Mary.
[9:24] Mary.
[9:25] Yeah, and they're so inspiring and beautiful people.
[9:29] But really, we've been to all the events we can kind of get to, we've been to.
[9:34] Yeah.
[9:34] And generally, every time, obviously, you meet the same people.
[9:39] We always try and meet other people.
[9:41] And they're all lovely and they're all like-minded.
[9:44] Yes.
[9:45] And the fact that you can go to an event and talk about finance openly is just unheard of.
[9:51] And we're on the same journey.
[9:53] Openly talking about your mortgages and stuff like that.
[9:55] It just doesn't happen.
[9:56] So to be able to do that is... How do you get used to that?
[9:59] Because it's still, you know, there's no real foreign to not talk about that.
[10:04] Even your parents didn't talk to you about it.
[10:05] Yeah, yeah.
[10:06] But it's nice.
[10:08] Everyone's and nonjudgmental.
[10:10] We say it all the time, nonjudgmental.
[10:12] So everyone's on the same journey.
[10:14] It's actually nice to catch up.
[10:15] It doesn't matter what the little step is.
[10:16] Yeah.
[10:17] Everyone encourages you.
[10:18] Yeah.
[10:18] You know what I mean?
[10:19] And supportive.
[10:20] Like you listen to everyone else's story and you want to listen to what they've achieved in six months too and how their family is basically being impacted by it as well.
[10:30] And, you know, I got to do this for my family because of this.
[10:33] And it is so...
[10:36] It just makes me so happy to hear that.
[10:39] So happy.
[10:40] I mean, I like listening to people's achievements and I love how people feel when they tell you.
[10:47] Watching their faces, it's so beautiful.
[10:50] The mindset of not being competitive and people being genuinely happy for each other.
[10:56] Yeah, yeah.
[10:57] Yeah, it's definitely a cult.
[10:59] Yeah, and that's okay.
[11:01] Yeah.
[11:01] We're just blessed to be a part of it.
[11:05] Yeah.
[11:05] So blessed.
[11:06] Have you had people in your lives that are like, what are you guys doing?
[11:09] This is crazy.
[11:11] We haven't really told that many people.
[11:14] Yeah.
[11:16] Obviously, I've got one sister.
[11:17] Nikki's got a couple of sisters.
[11:19] We've told them, told Nikki's mom, told my mom.
[11:21] Yeah.
[11:22] And Nikki's sisters are quite open.
[11:25] Yeah, my mum's extremely supportive.
[11:27] One of them's not joined Infini, but they've taken that step and are with another company.
[11:30] Yeah.
[11:31] But they're doing something great.
[11:32] Yes, which is good.
[11:33] The other one's looking.
[11:34] Yes, yes.
[11:35] And my mum, you know, she's an old-fashioned girl where she had to save for it, buy their house.
[11:41] They strived.
[11:42] But to listen to our story, she's so happy for us and really positive.
[11:48] We don't tend to talk about it unless we're asked.
[11:51] And once we're asked, we only can praise and state exactly what they've done for us.
[11:57] Infinity has changed our lives for the good.
[12:01] And our daughter's just entered the market.
[12:03] Oh, amazing.
[12:04] And they're looking and they're using the structure already.
[12:07] Already.
[12:08] And they'll be looking at joining hopefully in a couple of years, I'd say.
[12:11] Yeah.
[12:11] That's so good.
[12:12] So how do you think that she's learned from kind of seeing you guys through?
[12:17] Again, we've talked openly with her since we've done it.
[12:19] Very openly.
[12:20] They have watched the webinar, her and her partner.
[12:22] Yep.
[12:23] And as I said, they have implemented some of that structure.
[12:25] They have.
[12:26] Yeah, they live by the FFF.
[12:27] They'll be mortgage-free before my daughter's 30 and she's 26 at the moment.
[12:31] Yeah, no way.
[12:33] They're on that journey.
[12:34] We talk to them about it.
[12:36] We show them how the calculator can work for them.
[12:40] And if they're smart and they put their heart and soul into it, they will be in a better position at 30 than what we would have ever been.
[12:47] Oh, yeah.
[12:48] And it goes against completely what the kind of overriding messaging in the media is that that generation, they'll never own houses and it's not possible.
[12:56] No, it is possible.
[12:58] It is possible.
[12:59] It's hard work, determination and listening and learning.
[13:03] Pretty short-term sacrifices.
[13:04] Exactly.
[13:04] Not wanting, you know, straight away.
[13:07] Basically, be patient.
[13:09] Top home with all the bells and whistles.
[13:11] Yeah.
[13:12] Start here to get there.
[13:14] Yeah.
[13:14] And that's...
[13:16] A couple of stepping stones.
[13:16] Again, you'll feel grateful for what you gain in the end.
[13:20] It's a work in progress.
[13:22] Yeah, it's so true.
[13:23] And it is something I think the mixture of the community that has been built around the company and then the people inside the company, it's all...
[13:35] It's all geared towards the same thing.
[13:36] Yeah.
[13:37] You know, you want that for your children.
[13:40] Your children, you work hard for your children.
[13:42] It is a generational thing.
[13:43] And that's kind of why we, that's our drive of it, isn't it?
[13:45] It is.
[13:45] Generational wealth for me means everything.
[13:47] Yeah.
[13:48] Everything.
[13:49] Yeah.
[13:49] Leave a legacy for what you have worked hard for.
[13:52] And then they will see and feel what you've achieved.
[13:57] Yeah.
[13:58] Has there been anything that has really challenged you about being part of this and following that structure?
[14:05] It sounds like you guys have found it not easy.
[14:09] Graeme sort of asked the same question in the podcast as well and it hasn't been that difficult.
[14:15] No, because we've been through so much.
[14:18] We do.
[14:18] We've had hard times really, really hard.
[14:22] hard times.
[14:23] So it's not a test to us.
[14:27] It's just another structure to follow.
[14:30] Listen and learn.
[14:31] And the results just make it more.
[14:32] It does.
[14:33] Once you listen and you learn and you do what the structure teaches you, everything will fall into its place.
[14:41] But you've got to believe in that and you've got to stick to it.
[14:43] You can't divert.
[14:45] As soon as you do that, you will not feel that happiness at the end.
[14:50] Yeah.
[14:51] No.
[14:52] Oh, that's so good.
[14:53] And I think, you know, hearing the way that you've overcome, you know, the health journey that you've been on and how that's impacted and to see you here just beaming and smiling, just like...
[15:06] Anyway, it's been very hard to stay on track.
[15:10] But, yeah, what would you say to someone who's maybe, you know, hearing your story for the first time and they will listen to the podcast with G and not sure about how it all works?
[15:20] What would you say about how the kind of post-G part of it works?
[15:25] You know, you listen to a podcast and you go, yeah, I went in on that, and you then find out there's this whole company and there's these relationship managers behind it.
[15:33] What would you say to someone who's like, I don't really understand why I would do that?
[15:37] What's the thing that you would encourage them to do it for or...
[15:43] I would say you need to stay open-minded, you need to stay positive, and you need to believe in each other to succeed.
[15:54] Listen to the structure that G gives you.
[15:57] Everyone's done it.
[15:58] Everyone that is with infinity has done exactly what he's teaching you through podcasts, through the free webinar.
[16:10] If you listen to that, there's no fear.
[16:14] There is no fear because it is a structure that works for many, not just us, not a hundred people, thousands of people.
[16:24] And you will sit in this place like us and talk your story and be able to reflect on what you've done because of infinity.
[16:35] And they have your back.
[16:36] Yeah.
[16:37] I think that's a big thing.
[16:38] Big, big time.
[16:39] Like your RM is your best friend.
[16:41] Don't worry about RM.
[16:43] They're your BFs all the way.
[16:46] Oh, Erin will be so, yeah, she will be so happy to hear that.
[16:50] We are very grateful for that because we have met some beautiful people, but we really have made some genuine friends.
[16:56] Yeah.
[16:57] as fellow members but also some of the staff some of the staff but the members like we have like a couple that we talk to weekly all the time you know mary and alex i text her all the time um and megan and jeremy i mean they made a big impact on me personally prior to joining infinity
[17:17] I remember seeing interviews about them and thinking, these people are incredible.
[17:21] They've really opened themselves up to believing in something that isn't, you know, out there being publicised.
[17:29] And then you see what it has become.
[17:31] I'm so happy for that couple.
[17:34] They are just truly an inspiration to...
[17:37] To be part of infinity.
[17:38] And for us now to know that we are part of infinity, I could not be happier and so grateful for everything.
[17:45] Well, we are grateful for you guys and we're grateful for you sharing your story because it means the world to us that we can see.
[17:53] how we've helped you and you know but but it also yeah opens it up to other people because there's nothing like hearing what has really been achieved people just have to believe in the process and do exactly what it is and basically follow everything it asks like exactly you will see the outcome in the end and you'll be able to leave yeah like we said a legacy for your children and be happy with each other with that you know
[18:22] And like everyone always says, you know, budgets are restrictive and all that stuff.
[18:24] No, they're not.
[18:25] But it's not.
[18:25] It really isn't.
[18:26] They're not.
[18:26] Once you get it set, you stick by it.
[18:28] It actually opens up opportunities for you.
[18:30] It does.
[18:31] Yeah.
[18:32] Making your money work for you.
[18:33] Yeah.
[18:33] Exactly.
[18:34] 100%.
[18:34] And you're not like worried and wasting it and then you think-
[18:37] Oh, I shouldn't have bought that pair of shoes.
[18:39] I shouldn't have done this.
[18:40] I shouldn't have done that.
[18:41] You know what?
[18:42] I think that's the more scary part, like when you do do that statement check back in the master class and all that sort of stuff.
[18:49] And you kind of go, oh, God.
[18:50] Oh, whoa.
[18:51] That's where it's all been going, you know, and it's, yeah.
[18:53] Yeah.

[19:12] Shoes are everything.

[19:16] Thank you.
[19:17] Thank you so much for joining us.
[19:18] Thank you.
[19:19] Thank you.
[19:20] You're fucking gone.
[19:20] See ya.
