Jacinta and Josh were staring down a 30 year mortgage. In just over a year they cut it to 6. Jacinta and Josh bought their first apartment at 23, paid the minimum for 7 years, and only chipped $90k off it. Strata issues forced a sale during Jacinta's maternity leave, and they moved in with family for 10 months to save for round 2, a $899k, 30 year home loan. They found Infinity searching for an Australian version of Dave Ramsey. On their own they'd already pulled their timeline down to 19 years. With the debt reduction plan it dropped to 6 years and 7 months, and their balance has already gone from $899k to $784k in just over a year. They'll own their home before they turn 40. ## Transcript

[0:00] Home loan.
[0:00] Jacinda was 23, I was 24.
[0:02] Paid minimum repayments.
[0:04] In seven years we only paid off 90k or something.
[0:07] In seven years.
[0:09] We had some issues going on with the building.
[0:11] Oh man, we have to sell.
[0:13] I was on maternity leave, just had a newborn baby.
[0:15] Yeah.
[0:16] All of this strata issues.
[0:18] We started the journey young and we've somewhat started again.
[0:21] We thought we were really smart, rack up the credit card and earn all these points.
[0:25] Yeah.
[0:25] Oh, you're winning.
[0:26] We were winning our life.
[0:28] I was watching a lot of Dave Ramsey.
[0:30] His advice is good, but how does that apply to us?
[0:33] Do we have an Australian version?
[0:34] You know that Australian equivalent?
[0:36] I think I found him.
[0:37] Here we are.
[0:38] Yeah.
[0:39] So how much have you paid off the home loan in just over a year?
[0:42] We're down to $7.84.
[0:44] From $8.99.
[0:45] That is incredible.
[0:47] We've got two investment properties.
[0:48] This is insane.
[0:49] What did those next steps look like for you guys?
[0:55] Welcome back to the Money Mentor Podcast where we have another episode of Changing Lives Financially.
[1:00] Today we have the lovely Jacinta and Joshua.
[1:04] How are we guys?
[1:05] Good, thanks.
[1:06] How are you?
[1:06] How are you feeling?
[1:09] A little nervous, but excited as well.
[1:12] Just to share your story, as you said, nobody better to tell it but yourselves.
[1:16] So take me back well before you met Infinity.
[1:19] Where we're at, what did our home buying journey look like, what did our finances look like?
[1:24] I want to know everything.
[1:25] So to our viewers.
[1:26] Do you want to go?
[1:28] So we bought our first apartment when we were quite young.
[1:32] We thought we were doing very well.
[1:33] You did start young.
[1:35] Jacinda was 23, I was 24.
[1:37] We thought, you know, we were doing great.
[1:40] And then we...
[1:43] paid minimum payments.
[1:45] We fixed in seven years.
[1:47] We only paid off maybe 90K off that, if that.
[1:51] In seven years.
[1:53] In seven years.
[1:54] We were always thinking, how is this going to be done in 30?
[1:57] We thought that was just normal.
[1:59] And then in that time period as well, we bought three cars.
[2:04] We bought two on finance, one outright.
[2:06] We thought we were so smart for doing that.
[2:08] And did we really need three cars?
[2:11] We upgraded one, which was so we restarted one of those loans, which was probably even more dumb.
[2:17] Yeah, we were unlucky with the car situation, you know.
[2:21] He had an accident.
[2:24] Someone ran up his ass.
[2:26] Yeah.
[2:27] And so that was a write-off.
[2:28] Then he used my car and then that blew up.
[2:32] You've really been unlucky with cars.
[2:34] Yeah, so they're always secondhand.
[2:36] And then we just thought, you know what,
[2:38] I'm going to buy a new car, obviously fully financed.
[2:43] And we wanted to pay that off really quickly.
[2:45] And it was actually funny.
[2:46] One of the guys was like, the finance guys, you're probably better off paying your mortgage.
[2:51] They were like, nah, you don't know what you're talking about.
[2:53] That's interesting, right?
[2:54] They were like, you're better off putting, because we put 30 grand towards our like recent car that we had recently.
[3:00] And they were like, you're better off putting that against your mortgage because it's going to offset your interest.
[3:03] So we were like, nah, what's this guy talking about?
[3:06] You know, we're just like, nah.
[3:07] I wonder if you had an ulterior motive for that advice too though.
[3:11] Well, yeah, we're just like, we're here for a loan from you.
[3:13] Like, thanks.
[3:14] Yeah.
[3:16] We know what we're doing.
[3:17] Yeah.
[3:18] And then so we got to a point where we had some issues going on with the building.
[3:26] And then we were like, oh, man, we have to sell.
[3:30] Because it was just going to be a lot of big financial costs towards us.
[3:34] Yeah.
[3:34] Yeah.
[3:35] And so we ended up selling and thankfully we had just a sister to help us out.
[3:42] We moved in with them for the better part of 10 months.
[3:46] Yeah, because you sold before having something else.
[3:48] Yes.
[3:48] We did.
[3:49] We thought it would be better to – we didn't think because I was on maternity leave, just had a newborn baby.
[3:56] Yeah.
[3:56] All of this strata issues started happening now.
[4:00] And we thought we weren't in a position financially to be able to sell and buy in the same market, which is something we've learnt since joining.
[4:09] You've got to try to do, yeah.
[4:11] We just thought we wouldn't get pre-approval.
[4:13] Yeah.
[4:14] And we only sold for $40,000 more than what we actually bought the property for.
[4:19] Wow, in seven years.
[4:21] So we...
[4:23] We didn't, after all the interest we would have paid, we probably didn't even, we walked away probably in the red.
[4:27] And costs, exit and entry costs, yeah.
[4:30] So we definitely walked away with a loss and then, yeah, we're just sitting on that leave.
[4:35] We're like, we're not probably going to get a pre-approved for something that we want.
[4:37] We want to move into a house.
[4:40] We stayed there for nearly a year, saving up, trying to squirrel as much money as we possibly could together.
[4:46] Obviously, Jacinta was on mat leave.
[4:48] I was working a lot of overtime at work at the time, which was likely to be available to me.
[4:54] Then, yeah, towards the end of 2024, we ended up buying our own place that we're in now.
[5:02] And how old are you guys now?
[5:04] I am 33 and Jacinda's 32.
[5:05] So still very young.
[5:07] Yeah.
[5:07] So you've started the journey young.
[5:09] Yeah, we started the journey young and we've somewhat started again.
[5:13] Yeah.
[5:14] But it was kind of always a goal to be in a house by the time we were 30.
[5:20] That was just something we knew we weren't going to be in the apartment very long.
[5:23] We had a growing family too.
[5:25] Yeah, exactly.
[5:26] And, you know, that's where I think some of the financial illiteracy came from is
[5:33] Well, what's the point of paying it off when we don't plan on staying there forever?
[5:36] Oh, that's an interesting mindset to have.
[5:38] Yeah.
[5:39] Yeah.
[5:39] So you didn't see the benefit then?
[5:41] No.
[5:41] Because you knew you'd eventually move out.
[5:43] Yeah.
[5:44] Yeah.
[5:45] Okay.
[5:45] And what do we do for work?
[5:47] I work in air conditioning commercials, so HVAC.
[5:50] Yeah.
[5:51] And I install ductwork.
[5:52] Yeah, and I work in insurance.
[5:54] And you're fully back at work now?
[5:56] Fully back, yeah.
[5:57] The bank said I had to go back full time.
[5:59] To get a loan?
[6:00] To get a loan, yeah, or to be approved.
[6:02] And, you know, with my first, I was fortunate to go back three days a week and sort of gradually progressed into five days to be able to then have our second and go on full mat leave again for the second time.
[6:16] So, yeah, but back at work full time.
[6:19] Okay.
[6:20] And what's our home loan balance when we started?
[6:22] Oh, when we started.
[6:23] Because we'll talk about where we got to, but when we started.
[6:26] When we started, I believe it was like 899.
[6:28] Yeah.
[6:29] So a big one.
[6:30] Big one.
[6:31] Yeah.
[6:31] Million dollar property.
[6:32] We put 10% down because we didn't quite have the full 20%.
[6:37] But we were pretty lucky.
[6:38] We didn't actually have to pay LMI again.
[6:41] So we paid it the first time around.
[6:42] But we got fortunate because the industry that I work in.
[6:46] Yes.
[6:48] I was exempt from it.
[6:49] So that was a big savings and that made the.
[6:52] Because it would have been big on that home purchase and mortgage.
[6:55] Correct.
[6:55] We came for our first one and we were like, damn.
[6:58] Yeah, it would have been huge.
[7:00] But you're still staring down quite a big mortgage with just a small deposit.
[7:03] So we've got little equity in the property.
[7:06] Yes.
[7:07] Which we walked away from the first one with little equity as well.
[7:10] Yes.
[7:10] So, okay, that's where we started the journey.
[7:13] Any other credit cards or any other debts we had apart from the cars?
[7:17] Yeah.
[7:17] We thought we were really smart with a credit card getting points, being like if we just, you know, rack up the credit card and then pay it off before we have to pay the interest and earn all these points, we'll be so smart.
[7:30] And, you know, we used it for business class for our honeymoon, so we were like, you know.
[7:35] Oh, you're winning.
[7:36] We were winning our life.
[7:39] So, yeah.
[7:40] Yeah, we were one of those.
[7:41] Okay, so we had credit cards too.
[7:43] Yep.
[7:43] But before we got a second into our second home, we stopped using the credit cards.
[7:51] So, you know, when we joined Infinity, we didn't have any credit cards.
[7:55] So we're like, phew.
[7:56] That was an easy part of the easy one.
[7:58] Okay, we're not going to get in trouble for this because we've already done it.
[8:00] That was a conscious decision made to stop.
[8:03] What made you stop then before you even met us?
[8:06] I was never really a fan of the credit card.
[8:08] Yeah.
[8:08] Okay.
[8:09] He wasn't.
[8:09] Like my parents very much were like anti-credit card growing up.
[8:14] They were very good with money.
[8:16] Yeah.
[8:16] They paid the house off quite quickly when they were young.
[8:19] Wow.
[8:20] Okay.
[8:20] So they paid the house off before even my sister and I were born.
[8:24] Wow.
[8:24] In about four years.
[8:26] That's incredible.
[8:26] And then renovated.
[8:27] And so like, yeah, they don't have any investments.
[8:30] They're sort of people very...
[8:33] While they're very good with money, I think they're a bit more conservative in their approach.
[8:36] They're also a bit, yeah, risk adverse.
[8:38] Yeah.
[8:39] So like we were never exposed to that.
[8:41] But yeah, they were very against credit cards.
[8:43] And then so even when we had it, like it would just get out of control sometimes.
[8:48] Not...
[8:49] too bad but it'd be like all right we've racked it up to seven grand this month yeah like you know and that's well above what your expenses would have been yeah so there was some extra spending on that yes and it would be like oh do you need that and we'll just pay it on the credit card and you can pay us back so we'll get more points like you were one of those couples too yeah yeah
[9:10] Or pay us back when you need, you know.
[9:12] So, yeah.
[9:15] But honestly, I think it was one of those things that we noticed we were overspending.
[9:20] And if we wanted to be in a position to be able to purchase a house and, you know, we just had to quit the overspending.
[9:28] So I think a lot of our journey kind of started a little bit before infinity.
[9:34] But also timely.
[9:37] We like I was on that leave.
[9:39] Yeah.
[9:40] had a little bit of time to do scrolling on Facebook and Instagram.
[9:44] Yep.
[9:45] Yep.
[9:45] And, um, started kind of touching on the whole financial journey at that point.
[9:51] And I was like, we can kind of do better than what we're doing now.
[9:54] Um, so we, I was watching a lot of Dave Ramsey, um, so the American, I guess, equivalent in a way.
[10:04] Um, and,
[10:05] Because he's big on debt reduction in his own way.
[10:08] In his own way.
[10:09] I was really into like the baby steps and all that.
[10:12] And I was like, but does that really apply to us?
[10:14] Because we're in Australia.
[10:16] It's quite different.
[10:17] I was like, his advice is good, but like how does that apply to us?
[10:21] Like do we have an Australian version of that?
[10:23] And then they started showing.
[10:26] I was saying to the couple before that I did a podcast with where it was like they were like never searching for anything to do with us.
[10:33] And they're like, but it was a thought that popped in my head.
[10:35] And then suddenly it comes up on my Instagram.
[10:38] It's scary.
[10:38] Yeah.
[10:38] Agorism doing agorism things.
[10:40] Yeah.
[10:41] That's it.
[10:42] And yeah, like I got the book, watched the webinar three times before I told.
[10:49] Josh about it and I was like you know that Australian equivalent that you were talking about I think I found him here we are yeah um and yeah I was a bit skeptical at first yeah not gonna lie well she had to watch it three times before she could even tell you so she must have known you were skeptical I needed to like do my research yes you know and I was like all right yeah let's watch it and then yeah here we are now
[11:15] Did you end up watching the webinar?
[11:17] Yes.
[11:17] Okay.
[11:18] And did you immediately sign up for our masterclass from there or did you have a bit of time in between?
[11:23] Yeah, we had a bit of time because we actually watched it before we purchased.
[11:27] Yeah.
[11:28] So that was in the time where we couldn't really join because we didn't have a home loan.
[11:32] Yep.
[11:33] But what was really good about it is we learnt structure before we even started.
[11:39] Somewhat, yeah.
[11:40] To a certain degree.
[11:43] And when we purchased our property, we actually asked the mortgage broker, can we get this loan structure?
[11:52] Oh, I want to know the response.
[11:55] So they could do the certain bank that we were with, they could only do partial.
[12:00] So we had it set up to a certain point, which was really good because they
[12:07] we found we were already like I think we were going to pay off in like 19 years and two months.
[12:14] Because you started implementing some of what you learnt on your own.
[12:18] Yeah.
[12:18] Yeah, before signing up.
[12:19] So we already saw that it worked.
[12:21] Yeah.
[12:21] And so then.
[12:22] You put us to the test.
[12:23] Yeah.
[12:24] You dove right in.
[12:25] Yeah.
[12:26] Well, like I think it was always going to be inevitable that we wanted to join but it was just a timing thing, you know, two young kids.
[12:33] Yeah.
[12:34] Josh normally works every Saturday and it was just when can we get family members to mind the kids for two days.
[12:43] So we locked it in for April 2025, organised my sister to look after the kids and yeah, and we'll just all in.
[12:52] And I didn't know how he would be able to sit down for two days.
[12:56] For two full days.
[12:57] I'm used to it with my work.
[12:58] Yeah.
[12:59] I've always got to be on the move.
[13:01] Yeah.
[13:01] Working in construction, I'm like...
[13:03] We were always moving.
[13:04] A bit fidgety.
[13:05] Yeah.
[13:06] But did you do it?
[13:06] Yeah.
[13:07] You sat for the whole two days?
[13:08] Yeah.
[13:09] It was good.
[13:10] It was a lot.
[13:12] But, yeah, that was just a lot to take in.
[13:15] So much information.
[13:16] So much good information.
[13:17] Yeah.
[13:18] like a lot of like mind-blowing moments of just like, especially when the debt reduction calculator came out and we're like we thought, oh, 19 years is so good and then when it reduced even more and when it's under 10, we're like how?
[13:33] Yeah.
[13:34] Like how is that even possible?
[13:36] Like you think that you're just stuck in this loophole for 30 years and that's the norm and then all of a sudden you could pay your mortgage off in under 10 years, which is crazy.
[13:46] Because you'd accepted 19 and you're like, that's excellent.
[13:49] Yeah.
[13:49] Yeah.
[13:50] We're doing really well.
[13:51] Well, it wasn't 30.
[13:52] Yeah, exactly.
[13:53] Right?
[13:54] Because you'd think, well, we're doing it in less than 30.
[13:56] That's fantastic.
[13:57] But then you saw an even better number.
[13:59] Yeah.
[13:59] And what was funny as well is the amount of times that,
[14:04] the interest rate would change and they would want us to change our minimum repayment as well.
[14:10] And we just kept it.
[14:11] And we're like, it's really interesting.
[14:14] And you probably wouldn't think about it, but because we're part of infinity, like we're just like, wow, they really don't want you to win.
[14:21] No.
[14:22] They really want you to be stuck in the rat race and pay minimum payments.
[14:27] And we had done that for seven years, so we weren't going to go back to that.
[14:30] Keep doing it.
[14:31] Yeah.
[14:31] It's so good you've had that mindset, though, from such a young age to do it because now you're going to be debt-free well before you're 40.
[14:39] Yeah.
[14:39] That's the plan.
[14:40] It's a reality now.
[14:41] Yeah.
[14:42] And how does that feel?
[14:44] Surreal, honestly.
[14:46] Like it's a dream.
[14:48] You know, we want to create that generational wealth and because we had to start again, it was a little bit daunting.
[14:58] Yeah.
[14:58] Especially a big loan.
[15:00] Correct.
[15:00] A 30-year loan in Sydney, you know, that's expected.
[15:05] Yeah.
[15:06] But we felt like we had to catch up in a way and honestly, Infinity has...
[15:13] given us that opportunity to say you've made mistakes in the past but look at where you are now yeah you know you're changing your family's trajectory and that's honestly like I can't even put words to that yeah yeah the feeling you know it's just yeah literally can't explain it
[15:37] Well, why did you pick Infinity?
[15:38] Because I know for yourself, you know, just saying your parents paid their home loan off really quickly, you've somewhat already had the principles kind of there for you.
[15:46] What made you go, we still want to work with Infinity to help with our debt reduction?
[15:50] Yeah.
[15:52] Well, we did actually look at other financial finance.
[15:54] We did.
[15:54] Oh, tell me about that.
[15:55] Yeah.
[15:56] So quite an interesting journey.
[16:01] Because we did the algorithm, did the algorithm thing, there was a lot of things that popped up and we were like, you know what, we should be doing our research.
[16:09] We want to make sure that we're choosing the right people where we're going to put our money, you know.
[16:14] Yeah, of course.
[16:15] And, you know, we sat down and had Zoom meetings with people and it's just very – I'm not a fan of anyone selling me anything.
[16:25] So that – They were very pushy, yeah.
[16:28] Very pushy.
[16:28] So it felt very salesy.
[16:30] Yeah.
[16:30] Yeah, we're trying to get us to like sign up on the spot and then if we didn't want to, they were like, we'll give you a call back in a couple of days.
[16:36] Well, it feels like with G, he's more like, if you want me to work with you, you come to me.
[16:42] Yeah.
[16:42] Yeah.
[16:42] Yeah.
[16:43] Yeah.
[16:43] And just obviously his mannerisms, the fact that he's so laid back, T-shirt, hat vibe.
[16:52] Yeah.
[16:52] Swears a lot.
[16:53] Swears a lot, which he loves that.
[16:55] Being in construction industry, that's what he's used to.
[16:58] Yeah, so very relatable.
[16:59] Yeah, very relatable.
[17:01] And he doesn't need you.
[17:03] Yeah.
[17:03] You know, like and so it was the least amount of pressure selling.
[17:08] Like he doesn't even like to do the sale pitch.
[17:10] Yeah.
[17:10] You know.
[17:11] I know.
[17:13] The people are asking for it, like we've got to do it.
[17:15] And he's like, stop, I'm still going through content.
[17:17] Our master class was just like, you know, everyone was like, when's the sale pitch?
[17:21] Like we want to sign up.
[17:22] The job owner goes crazy and he's like, guys, I've still got more to go.
[17:25] It's like halfway through the day.
[17:27] Someone draws and he screams and loses it.
[17:33] But, yeah, like and just there's just no one like him.
[17:36] Let's be real.
[17:37] There's no one like him and it's like,
[17:41] Just something drew us to that.
[17:44] It wasn't, and I feel like the amount of education you get just from the free webinar alone, we didn't get that in an hour Zoom class.
[17:54] Yeah.
[17:55] This is what we can do for you.
[17:57] Like sign up.
[17:58] Well, that's what I think is so cool, like what you guys did after just the free webinar.
[18:01] Yeah.
[18:02] You implemented what we teach you in that and you got yourselves ahead of your mortgage and were able to get yourselves down to that 19 years on your own.
[18:09] Yep.
[18:09] That's so powerful.

[18:21] And we were like the whole 25K saving thing from the mask cost.
[18:26] We're like, we've already saved all that even before joining.
[18:29] So it's like I really tried to look for other ways not to join.
[18:33] And, yeah, I couldn't find any.
[18:36] So, yeah.
[18:37] Testimonials really helped as well.
[18:39] Seeing people's success stories like, you know.
[18:42] Like people go from having one investment property to then going to having 16 or something crazy.
[18:49] Even just having a couple, you're just like, that is ridiculous.
[18:52] People are getting told that the banks are saying no to them and then 18 months to two years into infinity, they've even got themselves ahead in their mortgage, they've got more investment properties and they're like looking at retiring early.
[19:06] Yeah.
[19:07] Like that really spoke to us.
[19:09] Obviously having the potential 30-year mortgage is...
[19:12] in our 30s thinking we're not going to be able to retire into our 60s.
[19:16] Like, yeah, it just – I think it really spoke to us a lot.
[19:20] Yeah.
[19:20] Because, you know, especially being in my line of work, I don't want to be working.
[19:25] Yeah.
[19:25] I went into my 60s.
[19:27] It's a hard job.
[19:28] Yeah.
[19:29] Yeah.
[19:29] Like it will pay a toll on my body and I really want to try and preserve that as much as possible.
[19:36] And I feel like having the option to even just step back and maybe change the line of work later in life through the help of infinity, yeah.
[19:45] Just options, right?
[19:46] Yeah.
[19:47] Choices.
[19:47] Flexibility, freedom.
[19:49] Do you think that's a reality for you now that you'll have those choices?
[19:52] Definitely.
[19:53] Yeah.
[19:53] Do you know what you might want to go into?
[19:55] Yeah.
[19:55] I don't know.
[19:56] He's always said Bunnings.
[19:57] Really?
[19:58] And to send people down the wrong aisle, so.
[20:01] Potentially.
[20:02] I'm not sure.
[20:04] But it's cool just to like you can think of those things.
[20:08] Like before it's just like, oh, I'll be stuck doing this for the rest of my life and it's like,
[20:12] You know, maybe when I'm like into my 40s, I could pick something different.
[20:15] Yeah.
[20:17] Or maybe even earlier.
[20:18] Who knows?
[20:18] Like just to have the option is nice.
[20:20] Yeah.
[20:21] And it'll probably help you spend a bit more time with your kids as well.
[20:24] Yeah.
[20:25] Which I know is important to a lot of people.
[20:27] Oh, absolutely.
[20:28] And I think that's where, you know, once we've gotten more...
[20:33] involved in infinity and the like we want to travel more you know have those experiences with the kids so and when they're older and can remember it you know they're still quite young so we've got a little bit of time but you know we want to start creating those memories and
[20:48] infinity is going to be able to help us with that which is a dream yeah and talk to me about on the master class I know you before the master class you decided no credit cards anymore so you knew you were going in with like at least a win there yeah we weren't going to scold you for your credit cards but talk to me when you did go through that portion of the master class where we educate you on credit cards being such a gimmick and why what what did that feel like when you were going through that education a personal attack
[21:16] It still felt like what I did because, you know, Graham, one of the analogies that he used was you spend like $37,000 on a toaster and I was like –
[21:27] That was me.
[21:27] I didn't buy a toaster but, you know, I wonder how much it would have cost us to actually purchase those business class flights, you know.
[21:36] And how much extra you would have had on the mortgage at the same time.
[21:38] We thought we were so smart having savings.
[21:42] We did.
[21:43] We had like at one stage because we were saving up for our wedding like 50, 60 grand in savings and we thought we were so smart and then, you know, at the end of the year when you go around tax time, sorry, middle of the year.
[21:54] And then all of a sudden you have to start paying tax and all the interest you earn on that.
[21:57] And you're like, oh, and then you realize if you put that against your mortgage or the interest you could be saving and you're not taxed on any of that at all.
[22:04] It's just, yeah, mind-blowing.
[22:06] Yeah.
[22:07] Yeah.
[22:07] So we're very happy no credit cards.
[22:10] We're very happy with no credit cards.
[22:12] And talk to me about like after sign-up.
[22:14] You've obviously decided to sign up and work with us.
[22:16] You've been working with us just over a year now.
[22:18] What did that first, let's say, 90 days look like with us?
[22:20] Well, we had an interesting journey.
[22:23] So pretty much we were waiting with bated breath, whether we were going to get in or not.
[22:29] The call like made my day.
[22:32] And then I had to call Zachy back a week later and say, I've just been made redundant.
[22:38] Oh, no.
[22:39] Yes.
[22:40] So look, it wasn't the start that we were hoping for, but he told me what I need to do to be able to, you know, see it through.
[22:50] Yeah.
[22:51] And yeah, I had to make some tough choices.
[22:55] I was able to luckily find another job within the company and called him back and said, okay, I've secured a contract.
[23:05] What does it mean?
[23:06] Can we come back?
[23:08] And yeah, and as well through that.
[23:11] Something that really resonated with me about the Infinity Way is they refunded our course back.
[23:19] Yeah.
[23:20] Which we didn't expect, you know, and the fact that they did that and then said, do all these things, call us when you're ready to come back, then we can look at it again.
[23:32] Yeah, we pride ourselves on that because we know that that's a situation where right now you needed the money more than we did and we could give you the tools just like we did with the webinar and we knew obviously you'd follow it because you'd already shown us that you would and you'd come back.
[23:48] Yeah.
[23:49] Yeah.
[23:49] We did.
[23:50] You know, I couldn't wait and, you know, I did try to look for some opportunities outside but, you know, I've never
[23:58] The amount that I was on, I wanted to keep that and, you know.
[24:02] Well, you just crunched your numbers on a masterclass and you knew what that wage meant.
[24:08] We were paying $142 a day in interest before we even woke up.
[24:12] So, yeah, it was very much in any of the negotiations.
[24:17] It was like, that's great.
[24:18] But...
[24:19] Like I need to accept this amount.
[24:21] So that helped set that expectation for you going into those conversations, which is quite powerful too.
[24:25] Yeah, because I wasn't willing to go for anything less because I knew on the path that we were on it was either this or nothing.
[24:36] And what did it feel like being made redundant in that moment but also knowing that you'd already set yourselves up in quite a good way that if something did happen like that, you'd actually probably be okay for a bit.
[24:50] I didn't we didn't need the money yeah so that in itself felt quite powerful yeah that I got an opportunity to choose whether I would stay in the same workplace I was in or if I look for somewhere else I'm very like I love where I work and the people I work with and
[25:12] And it was something that I've already left that industry before and come back.
[25:18] So, um, and grass isn't always greener on the other side.
[25:21] Um, and just the flexibility where we're at in life.
[25:25] Like I go into the office two days and I work from home three days.
[25:28] Like very, very fortunate.
[25:30] And, you know, I need that work-life balance.
[25:33] Yeah.
[25:33] So to, you know, we, I commute an hour and a half every day to and from work, so three hours a day.
[25:41] Yeah, wow.
[25:41] So that's where it's, you know, that's just Sydney, right?
[25:45] Yeah.
[25:46] Yeah.
[25:48] But yeah, just having that choice to be able to go.
[25:52] you know what, like, yes, the money would be great.
[25:54] That could go off my home loan.
[25:56] That definitely was a thought or I could buy an investment property.
[26:00] But securing a job to be able to stay with Infinity was more important.
[26:05] Wow.
[26:06] So you made that.
[26:06] That was the choice.
[26:07] That was the choice.
[26:07] It was a good payout too.
[26:09] I love that.
[26:10] So, yeah, we sat down and talked about it a lot and Jacinda was like always on the fence and then we were like, well, if we want to work with Infinity, it's more important to secure the job.
[26:21] And you probably have more success staying with the same company that you're with.
[26:24] Yeah.
[26:25] And our beautiful RM at the time, Josh, sent me the biggest bouquet of flowers I've ever seen in my life.
[26:33] Once I secured that job and sent that contract over.
[26:36] And yeah, like that as well, just it felt so good.
[26:39] Like the sense of community is like no other.
[26:43] Yeah.
[26:44] I know, I feel like we're sending gifts constantly every single day.
[26:48] I see it on Facebook.
[26:49] I'm like, wow, that budget definitely is endless.
[26:52] Yeah, it's crazy.
[26:54] And I know G likes to brag about it a little bit where he's like, I don't have a budget for the gifts.
[26:58] Like it's, we just want to celebrate you guys all the time, whether it be paying the home loan off or...
[27:03] You're, you know, having a baby or getting married or, you know, send them something.
[27:07] I want them to know we care and we're celebrating them.
[27:09] Yeah, we really feel that.
[27:10] Yeah.
[27:11] Definitely.
[27:11] A hundred percent.
[27:12] So when you did come back on board finally to work with us, what did those next steps look like for you guys?
[27:18] Because you were ready to go by then.
[27:19] Yeah.
[27:19] Yeah, we were.
[27:20] So we had our meeting with Zaki and he was showing us what was possible and that was just mind-blowing.
[27:29] Like we were here to just pay off our mortgage in the under 10 years.
[27:34] So we threw a couple of extra goodies in the strategy for you.
[27:37] We didn't know we would be in a position to purchase investment properties.
[27:41] We thought our goal was at 40%.
[27:44] to then invest.
[27:45] Oh, so you wanted to pay the homeowner first, then invest?
[27:48] Well, we didn't know we could do it at the same time.
[27:51] And so when that was a conversation, we were like blown away.
[27:58] And, you know, going to REM was just even a whole nother thing.
[28:02] But, yeah, we were really in a fortunate position and honestly they said jump, we said how high and...
[28:12] Yeah, we literally everything that they want us to do.
[28:15] We're just like, yep, no worries.
[28:16] We didn't question anything.
[28:17] We just went both feet in.
[28:19] Yeah.
[28:20] And I think Kerry and Gee say it a lot, feel the fear and do it anyway.
[28:25] Do it anyway, yeah.
[28:26] That has been like a mantra in my life since joining Infinity.
[28:31] She was on our masterclass back in April 2025.
[28:33] So she was one of the testimonials.
[28:34] Yeah, and she mentioned that and that really resonated with me and especially going through the whole being made redundant during that time, like that really helped just kind of, yeah.
[28:45] Yeah.
[28:45] just make good choices and put yourself in positions like even doing something like this is so out of your comfort zone yeah so out of our comfort zone but feel the fear and do it anyway yeah and like jay also said let the baker bake yeah you know like we didn't want to try and we're just like yeah whatever you guys suggest you're the experts we'll do it
[29:07] Yeah.
[29:08] Well, you had people to compare us to.
[29:10] Yeah, we did.
[29:11] As well.
[29:11] Like, that's pretty cool that you like had been through the process with some other firms as well.
[29:16] So you actually had comparison.
[29:17] We did.
[29:18] And it's like night and day.
[29:20] It's not even really any comparison at all.
[29:23] Like you guys are just leading the charge.
[29:28] you know, when he says it's transformational, like we feel that so much because, you know, we've gone through the path of being with a mortgage broker.
[29:37] We've gone with the big banks.
[29:39] We've gone with other competitors or investigated them at least.
[29:45] And yeah, it's just very transactional.
[29:47] Yeah.
[29:48] And the amount of education, community and everything you get with Infinity is just like nothing else.
[29:55] You feel like they really care for you.
[29:57] Yeah.
[29:57] Like you don't feel like, yeah, like.
[29:59] Like you're a number.
[30:00] Yeah.
[30:02] Exactly.
[30:03] We have our mobile numbers.
[30:04] You text us, call us whenever you want.
[30:06] Like, yeah, we do.
[30:07] You have direct lines to us.
[30:09] Yeah.
[30:09] Like it's literally like 24-7 access.
[30:12] We definitely don't take a piss.
[30:14] But, you know, just those random 3 a.m. thoughts that pop up into your head.
[30:18] Like, you know, we'll just message our RM and we're going, hey, we're thinking of this.
[30:23] Yeah.
[30:24] You know.
[30:24] Yeah.
[30:25] Like there was one time where I messaged him and I was like, so there's this deal on.
[30:30] Oh, God.
[30:30] What do you think?
[30:32] And as well, it's like old habits creeping in, right?
[30:36] No, let's not do that.
[30:37] I'm like, okay, but I just like needed someone to tell me no.
[30:41] Josh already said no.
[30:42] Bit of that accountability partner.
[30:43] Yeah.
[30:44] That third wheel in our relationship has been really interesting as well and has been good because, you know, we can bounce things off our arm and being held accountable, you know, you don't want to mess up either.
[31:01] We don't want to get in trouble.
[31:03] Like one meeting we had, he really didn't grill us, but he was like this month he had 60% to 40% groceries to take away.
[31:11] What happened there?
[31:11] And we're like, oh, damn.
[31:13] Because we see it all.
[31:14] You do.
[31:15] Our CRMs and platforms that we've built and, you know, it allows us to give you that data to really show you how you're tracking and performing, which I just think is such a cool tool that we have.
[31:25] And although some people might look at it and be like, think it's intimidating, I think that's part of what our service is about is making sure that we can go, hey, guys, think about it this way.
[31:36] Yeah.
[31:36] You know, like giving you that percentage of that is pretty cool.
[31:40] Oh, it's.
[31:41] Like the education, it doesn't stop at the masterclass.
[31:44] Like there's the monthly accountability meetings.
[31:47] You've got your monthly or bimonthly checking with your RM, the community chat.
[31:53] You've got.
[31:54] podcasts like it's just so much information consistently that all you think about is infinity 24 7 yeah i don't know if that's a bad thing but you know like for yeah and it's just we talk about finances all the time that's not something that we really spoke about that much before do you think it's changed your relationship in that way i think it's definitely strengthened it yeah yeah
[32:18] I think like we weren't disjointed at all before, but I feel like
[32:25] We might have been financially a little bit and now we're like 100% aligned.
[32:30] Yeah.
[32:30] Like we're rowing towards the same goals.
[32:33] We're thinking of bigger picture items that just wasn't even a possibility before.
[32:39] We're trying to be intentional about what we, you know, teach the kids.
[32:45] So, yeah, it's really changed our lives in so much more than just
[32:52] financial yeah because teaching your kids is such an important thing because I know like part of like my why of what I'm doing why I'm doing what I'm doing now is that I'm so angry at our education system I'm so angry at the banks and the lack of accountability that they have for education to their clients yeah right so what about you guys like what do you feel about our education system and the banks and what they do to the clients oh it's it's like
[33:19] Fraud, really.
[33:20] Like it's just, it's, they don't want to see you win.
[33:25] They want to keep you in the working class, which I was quite upset about.
[33:31] You know, it was the middle class before, now it's the working class.
[33:35] And, you know, that's where we're having to send our kids, like everything.
[33:40] No matter what.
[33:41] Like no wonder why people are more leaning towards homeschooling.
[33:45] Like I understand it.
[33:46] If we were in that position, I mean maybe we might be.
[33:49] I was going to say, it might be a consideration for you.
[33:52] Do I have the patience?
[33:53] I don't know.
[33:55] That's a whole other thing.
[33:56] But, you know, that could be an option potentially down the road.
[34:00] And just...
[34:03] You know, I wasn't the greatest at school.
[34:05] I probably didn't retain a lot, but, you know, just find everything that you learn in the masterclass and the webinar is so simple.
[34:15] It is frustrating that we didn't know this sooner, you know.
[34:20] And so that's where we feel like it's our duty in a way to try and change the path, especially for our kids.
[34:28] Yeah.
[34:28] But also for anyone else that is open to it as well.
[34:32] We try to give the information, like parts of it anyway, to like family members and friends.
[34:38] Like we just tell them a bit about what we're doing and like, oh, you know, you could be doing this or you could be doing that.
[34:43] But it's whether they're open to it as well.
[34:46] Like you can lead a horse to water but you can't make a drink.
[34:49] How has the response been?
[34:51] At first some people were a bit sceptical.
[34:55] I think my parents were sceptical but they're also like, you know what, like you guys –
[35:01] You do you.
[35:01] Yeah.
[35:02] We'll see how it goes.
[35:03] So your parents are quite like, well, supportive.
[35:05] I think now that they know that we're doing this as well as other family members, I think a lot more people are supportive.
[35:12] I think it's taken a bit of a turn in the recent days.
[35:14] Like we've had people go, oh, can you send us the webinar now?
[35:18] Okay.
[35:18] So they're opening up to it.
[35:19] We're going to watch it.
[35:20] Like we're excited to watch it.
[35:21] And so, yeah, I definitely feel like people's tone has changed.
[35:26] Yeah, and like, you know, we've been quite open.
[35:29] Yeah.
[35:30] But also we've kept things to ourselves too because, you know, you want to kind of shout it from the rooftop, especially when you first join and you learn so much.
[35:40] And you see it actually working.
[35:42] Correct.
[35:42] And you want to see everyone win.
[35:44] Yeah.
[35:44] Like why wouldn't you want to see your friends and family win?
[35:46] Of course.
[35:47] So you want to give all that information to them, but everyone's on their own journey and that's what we've –
[35:55] It's been a tough pill to swallow because we know everyone could be doing, you know.
[36:01] What you're doing.
[36:02] Yeah, what we're doing really.
[36:03] And the community, like it's just so like unless you're in it, you don't really understand.
[36:10] And so that's where it's just it's kind of hard to put it into words to try and get someone over the line.
[36:17] Yeah.
[36:17] But I think just them watching what we're doing.
[36:21] So your results will speak louder than anything you can ever say will.
[36:25] So how much have you paid off the home loan in just over a year?
[36:28] We're down to $7.84.
[36:31] From $8.99.
[36:31] Yeah.
[36:33] That is incredible.
[36:34] Yeah.
[36:35] Did you, like the couple that I had on the podcast before, he was telling me, he goes, I had to call the bank to actually ask them if it was real.
[36:42] And I was like, well, you pressure tested us against the bank.
[36:46] And he was like, they were saying, no, that's your money.
[36:48] You've been paying it off.
[36:50] Like, what do you want us to tell you?
[36:51] So it's like, did you actually believe that this was something you could actually do and it was actually happening for you?
[36:58] No.
[36:58] At first, no.
[36:59] But then after we did the calculator, like, yeah, you see like what you can like sweep every month.
[37:04] Yeah.
[37:05] Like, yeah, like this is actually like, it's surreal.
[37:08] Yeah.
[37:08] It's unbelievable.
[37:10] You think it's instilled to you 30 years, 30 years, 30 years, and then you get under 10 and
[37:16] you're paying off some months over 10K off your home loan, off the principal, you're like, wow.
[37:22] Yeah.
[37:23] Our out-of-debt calculators changed twice.
[37:25] When we first did it, it was like nine years and 11 months.
[37:28] Yeah.
[37:28] And now I think it's like six years and seven months.
[37:31] That's incredible.
[37:31] We've had pretty decent pay increases in that time as well, which has definitely helped.
[37:36] We've also been better with like our FFFs.
[37:40] So changing that up a bit too.
[37:42] Yeah, it's going down.
[37:43] We're always thinking about how we can try and reduce that.
[37:46] Probably.
[37:47] Let's go down another 50 bucks, see what we do.
[37:49] Challenge yourselves.
[37:50] Like last week I think we were down to like a dollar or something or maybe $5 and then we had to have a choice for breakfast if we wanted to have milk or bread.
[37:57] Oh, gosh.
[37:59] We're not struggling at all, but it's just like.
[38:01] But you just like that challenge.
[38:03] Yeah.
[38:03] Yeah.
[38:04] We don't want to go over the budget.
[38:06] Yeah.
[38:07] You know, like when we're going on holidays and whatnot, it's different, although we have also learnt to try and put money away from that.
[38:15] Yeah.
[38:15] So, yeah, we're constantly.
[38:16] And become smarter.
[38:17] Yeah.
[38:18] We're constantly evolving, constantly learning, constantly trying to challenge ourselves.
[38:22] And, again, the community helps with that.
[38:25] So much, yeah.
[38:25] Because you're seeing everyone sweep every month and you're like,
[38:30] Yeah.
[38:30] That could be us, you know.
[38:32] Especially when you can see you've gone from 19 years to nine years.
[38:35] Now you're at six.
[38:36] You're like, you just get hungry to do better again and better again.
[38:40] Yeah.
[38:41] Yeah.
[38:41] Absolutely.
[38:42] To say like just before you're 40 that you own your home.
[38:46] Yeah.
[38:46] It's incredible.
[38:47] And what we're really learning is that with our kids as well, which helps with our FFF is,
[38:52] we don't need to do things that cost money for them to have fun.
[38:55] They're quite young.
[38:57] It's like they're happy to go to the skate park.
[38:59] They're happy to go just to parks, things that are free, available in our area that will really help.
[39:04] They just don't want to stay home.
[39:06] Yeah.
[39:06] They just want to be out.
[39:07] They don't really care what they're doing.
[39:09] As long as they're out of the house, they're happy.
[39:11] They're happy to go for a walk in the park across the road from us.
[39:14] Like they're just happy to be outdoors.
[39:16] We don't have to go to massive play centers for them to have fun.
[39:20] We don't have to go –
[39:22] and spend heaps of money on them in activities we're doing.
[39:25] They're just happy just to do something.
[39:27] Yeah.
[39:28] Because it's outdoors as well.
[39:29] Like, we love that.
[39:30] Yeah.
[39:31] But you also get to save the really big, cool stuff for when they're older and they can remember it and understand it and appreciate it more.
[39:38] Experiences.
[39:38] Yeah.
[39:38] That's what we're learning.
[39:39] And you'll be debt-free.
[39:40] Yeah, exactly.
[39:41] So you've got, what, five grand a month back in your pocket because it's not going to the bank anymore?
[39:46] Yeah.
[39:46] Probably more.
[39:47] Yeah.
[39:48] Yeah.
[39:48] Like, that's cool.
[39:49] Yeah.
[39:50] Yeah.
[39:50] That's really cool.
[39:51] Yeah.
[39:51] So I think when you have those results, it's easier for other people to believe it because you're actually doing it.
[39:57] Yeah.
[39:57] So those results are going to speak very, very loud.
[40:00] Yeah.
[40:01] And now you're going to help other people sharing your story.
[40:03] Yeah.
[40:04] Yeah.
[40:04] And that's why we wanted to do this.
[40:06] Yeah.
[40:08] Because we have gotten so much from learning from others, testimonials, podcasts, you know, it's I've been watching them maybe two, three times each.
[40:19] but you know it's just you get that like fix yeah watch the master class on um on the app again oh yeah yeah because we give you ongoing access to it yeah so um yeah just always trying to be better and learn and yeah we've just fully immersed ourselves in infinity and I don't think we'll ever look back
[40:42] What's an investment, a really good investment in your education, investment in your future and your financial health as well.
[40:49] And talk to me about REM.
[40:50] What was that like for you guys going to the Real Estate Mastery?
[40:52] Because you'd already been through a webinar, been through a masterclass, which is all online.
[40:56] In Real Estate Mastery, you get put in front of these people that are, you know, telling you what to do with your money.
[41:01] Yeah.
[41:02] Yeah, that was cool.
[41:03] I really enjoyed it.
[41:04] We had Steve and Sue Ann at our table as well.
[41:07] Yeah.
[41:07] So like, you know, seeing people who had like so many properties and had done so well through infinity as well, having them as testimonials to relate to was really cool.
[41:15] Yeah.
[41:16] And we got to speak to them a lot.
[41:18] Like being on the 5 a.m. walk.
[41:20] Yeah.
[41:21] Josh was a fan of the 5 a.m. walk, but that's okay.
[41:23] Because we went to bed so late.
[41:25] And then she was like, let's do the walk.
[41:26] I'm like, no, let's not.
[41:28] And then she's like up at 4.30.
[41:29] He's like, we're doing the walk.
[41:30] I'm like, oh.
[41:31] yeah like we're doing the walk if i'm in i'm all in like you want to do everything we're definitely all or nothing people yeah we are and yeah just talking to them so laid back so down to earth and just you know really trying to take that opportunity to learn from him as well so yeah um we really appreciated that um yeah and that was kind of
[41:54] a little bit of a goal that I had before is trying to talk to as many testimonials as possible.
[41:59] And you actually get to meet them in the flesh.
[42:01] You do.
[42:01] I've just seen her nose, all of them.
[42:04] I mean, I think I saw Casey in the bathroom.
[42:07] I didn't shake her hand, but I said hi.
[42:09] And yeah, like it's just, it's so cool to see because like, you know, for new clients, especially like they're the people you look up to.
[42:19] to see them in the flesh for them to take the time out of their day to talk to you is like so awesome yeah um because they're all volunteering their time they are yeah which is so we don't pay them no and it's so incredible to see and to be part of and you know you learn so much from people that are doing it yeah they're in the same position that you were you know when they were starting out yeah obviously everyone's got their own story but yeah
[42:44] Yeah.
[42:45] And again, that was a situation we weren't exactly comfortable being.
[42:50] Probably didn't speak to a lot of people, but definitely tried to put ourselves out there to talk to the testimonials because, you know.
[42:58] Yeah.
[42:58] We're a bit more introverted.
[43:00] Yeah.
[43:00] Definitely.
[43:00] So yeah, definitely pushed us outside our comfort zone.
[43:03] Yeah.
[43:03] Yeah.
[43:04] But the event, what the community does and puts it all together is just insane.
[43:12] Like it's hard to explain.
[43:14] I know.
[43:14] If you're not in it.
[43:16] But just the level of detail, the amount of food.
[43:20] The options.
[43:20] The food is so good.
[43:21] It was so good.
[43:23] My husband gets so excited every round because he goes, oh, I'm coming in for the star's food.
[43:28] The unlimited ice cream.
[43:29] Yeah.
[43:29] I think I saw Lenny like have quite a few, which was funny.
[43:32] And, yeah.
[43:33] Chapplets.
[43:36] The coffee, the energy drinks, just everything.
[43:41] The little touches, the little hamper bag you get before.
[43:44] Yeah.
[43:44] I take that bag to work every day.
[43:46] Like I'm really trying to like subtly, you know, put infinity out there.
[43:51] That's my public service.
[43:53] Yeah.
[43:53] Shirts in the gym.
[43:55] So, yeah.
[43:55] Yeah, it's becoming a common theme for sure.
[43:58] But you also walked away from that event with a couple of investment properties as well.
[44:01] We did.
[44:01] So how many did we walk away with?
[44:03] Two.
[44:03] Two.
[44:04] Yeah, which was insane.
[44:06] Like I think I was shaking after it because we didn't know we were walking away with two.
[44:11] Yeah.
[44:12] So that was a big shock to us and we were just, it was a pinch me moment.
[44:19] Yeah.
[44:19] We didn't know if it was real, if we were dreaming.
[44:21] Yeah.
[44:22] Yeah.
[44:23] Yeah, when we got told we were getting two, we were like, what?
[44:25] We didn't even think it was possible to get one.
[44:28] Wow.
[44:28] And then all of a sudden after, what, just being with them for not even very long, we've got two investment properties.
[44:36] We're like, this is insane.
[44:38] And one's in your SMSF.
[44:39] Yes.
[44:40] So you were able to utilize your super to buy a property.
[44:43] Yes.
[44:43] How do you feel about the recent government change where they're now no longer allowing borrowing in super?
[44:49] It sucks.
[44:50] Yeah.
[44:51] Obviously, we're very fortunate to have.
[44:52] Because you got in before.
[44:53] We got in before.
[44:55] But it does, for the people that we are wanting to get involved in, it's too late for them.
[45:02] Yeah.
[45:02] And that's sad.
[45:03] Yeah.
[45:03] Um, so yeah, it's, it's not great.
[45:06] And look, it may change.
[45:07] It may not.
[45:08] Yeah.
[45:08] Who knows?
[45:09] There's been so many cycles throughout the years.
[45:11] Yeah.
[45:11] Um, so what would you say to people who would say, oh, well, we're just not going to bother then.
[45:15] We're not going to do anything because of it.
[45:18] Yeah.
[45:19] Probably not the greatest outlook to have.
[45:21] Um, you know, you're in your own way.
[45:25] Um, what does G say?
[45:26] If you're in your head, you're dead.
[45:27] Yeah.
[45:28] Um, and yeah, like.
[45:30] You know, if we knew what we knew now back when we first were buying properties, like, you know, we'd be in a much different position.
[45:39] So but the better it's better to start, you know, today and do something and do something than not do anything at all.
[45:46] Yeah.
[45:48] Awesome.
[45:49] Well, before we wrap up, guys, do you have anything else that you wanted to add or ask me?
[45:54] We do know a couple of people that are interested now that we're sort of, you know, sharing our story.
[46:01] If they're, I guess, not in a position to be able to join and pay the upfront free, is there any other options that they can do or is it just something that they need to kind of, you know, budget for essentially?
[46:16] Yeah.
[46:17] So, I mean, we show on the masterclass that –
[46:20] how quickly you can pay off your home loan, right?
[46:21] So if you look at, let's break it down, not just over the years, like so for you guys it was nine years when you started, look at it in just per month.
[46:29] Most people will pay more off their home loan in the first three months than they would have done the year before.
[46:34] And they would be able to get that fee to be able to sign up and work with us within the first month, two months, three months at minimum.
[46:41] So all they've got to do is exactly what you guys did.
[46:43] Yeah.
[46:43] Follow the process we teach you.
[46:45] Do the free webinar.
[46:46] You don't even need to do the masterclass to do that.
[46:48] That's true.
[46:49] And they would absolutely then be able to.
[46:51] Yeah.
[46:52] And then following on from that, if they do sign up and for whatever reason, we just feel like, hey, we can't give this everything.
[46:58] Maybe, you know, you're on maternity leave and we can't get you a loan or whatever that looks like.
[47:02] We'll tell you exactly what you need to do, just like we did with you guys.
[47:06] So you can go implement that and they just need to do exactly what you guys did.
[47:10] Follow it.
[47:11] You know, I know having that accountability partner is so important.
[47:15] That's ultimately what you guys signed up for.
[47:17] But if you can put that discipline in and follow that process yourself, it will always come back around because I've had most people that I've had to turn away come back.
[47:26] Yeah, yeah, yeah, and we're lucky that we got to.
[47:29] And, you know, the whole three-month thing, we did that in, we paid more in a year than we did in seven years.
[47:39] Isn't that crazy?
[47:40] Wild.
[47:40] Yeah.
[47:41] So we know it works.
[47:42] It's, you know, just trying.
[47:43] You're the perfect role models for them.
[47:45] Like if you really answered the question.
[47:48] Yeah.
[47:48] Right, because you're like, you did it.
[47:50] You did exactly what they need to do, so they're in a position to be able to come back.
[47:53] Yeah.
[47:54] Yeah.
[47:54] Yeah.
[47:55] Anything else?
[47:56] I think something that we definitely sort of struggle with now is we're probably a bit too tight with money.
[48:04] I was a bit worried when you said that we had to pick between what bread and milk.
[48:08] Yeah.
[48:09] So like.
[48:09] We don't want that for our clients.
[48:11] Like our own has been very good with us.
[48:13] Like, you know, we know we need things like we probably need a new lounge.
[48:16] And another example is one of our TVs blew up.
[48:20] So we're like, oh, we need another TV.
[48:22] But then we've just gone, nah, we don't need another new lounge.
[48:25] This is this one's fine.
[48:27] Like we've got another TV.
[48:28] This will work.
[48:31] He's gone to us before as well.
[48:33] You know, give yourselves a bit of a buffer.
[48:36] Give yourselves a bit of credit.
[48:37] You can spend a bit of money now that you've actually gone and done so much over this course of time.
[48:42] But we just, we're very much struggling to do that.
[48:48] Yeah, struggling with the balance of, you know, things that we do need to replace.
[48:53] Like even like... We've got Dan Light out in our bathroom.
[48:56] We're like, no, we've got another one.
[48:57] We've got another one.
[48:58] The other one's enough light.
[49:00] I was talking to like duct tape the vacuum attachment.
[49:03] Oh, my gosh.
[49:04] You know, we've had everything for about 10 years and that's all things last these days.
[49:08] And, you know, there's a few things that we need to do around the house, but we're just so tunnel driven really.
[49:15] Set at the goal.
[49:15] Set at the goal.
[49:16] I get it though.
[49:16] I totally get it because I was very much the same way.
[49:19] But I think what you've got to do is set yourselves, you know, whether it be three months, if you feel like three months is too soon, do six and go, we're going to go hard for six months.
[49:28] Yeah.
[49:28] You know, but then make sure at the end of that six months you set yourself a reward.
[49:34] You know, whether the new vacuum is a reward, I wouldn't really say a vacuum is a reward.
[49:37] I think that's a necessity at this point.
[49:39] But, you know, whether it be that little holiday together with the family.
[49:42] And it doesn't have to be big, you know, just go down south somewhere or –
[49:46] You know, even New Zealand's not always that expensive.
[49:49] You've got to give yourself something to look forward to because, yes, paying the home loan off is super important.
[49:54] It's definitely something to look forward to.
[49:56] But you've got to enjoy the process along the way because you also don't want to resent the process.
[50:01] No, and I don't think we're at that point because we do still have little holidays, little staycations, if you will, and we do still, we don't go without anything.
[50:12] It's just more, you know, the bigger expenses we're like,
[50:16] it's the adulting you don't like because that's me i'm like i don't want to buy a steam mop i get it but that's also the purpose of the debt reduction model is that you will have the ability when those moments pop up in life to just buy them without guilt yeah and you know you're not putting it on a credit card it's not going on after pay or zip pay it's not setting you backwards right because we know that especially you guys said that throughout the process you got pay rises
[50:41] What's what most people do when they get a pay rise?
[50:43] They end up spending more.
[50:44] Lifestyle creep.
[50:45] You guys have, exactly.
[50:47] You guys have still implemented the structure and just gone, oh my gosh, this takes us from nine years to six years, right?
[50:52] So you've still got that perfect mentality, but it's okay sometimes when, you know, something breaks, replace it.
[50:58] Yeah.
[50:59] You got this.
[50:59] Yeah.
[51:00] Yeah, I think it's just very hard for us to, like I said before, we're definitely all or nothing people.
[51:05] And we're just like, oh, if we spend this much money, how many more months is that going to add?
[51:09] Like how much do I sweep?
[51:10] Are we not going to get?
[51:10] Because some months if we don't sweep as well, we'll get a bit disappointed and we're like, oh, we should be sweeping this month.
[51:16] So I think that it's just that mental factor that definitely plays into it.
[51:21] Yeah.
[51:21] But the cool thing is you've always got access to our out-of-debt calculator as well.
[51:24] You've also got the portal too.
[51:26] So you can always pressure test it.
[51:27] Yeah.
[51:27] You know, just go say, look, if we did go and spend money on this, I'm telling you, it's not going to move much, which is a good thing because we're not talking huge amounts of money.
[51:35] We're not talking like, you know, thousands.
[51:38] When you guys were saying you'd put $7,000 a month on your credit card, that's probably $3,000 over what your actual expenses are every single month, right?
[51:45] So we're not talking about $3,000 extra spending times 12 months.
[51:48] Yeah.
[51:49] It's a once off every now and then.
[51:51] So it's not going to move much, but you've got the tools to be able to see what it would do if it happens.
[51:57] Yeah.
[51:57] Awesome, guys.
[51:58] Well, thank you so much for coming to share your story.
[52:00] I think it's going to relate to a lot of people that are your age.
[52:04] So we really appreciate it.
[52:06] Thank you so much for everything.
[52:08] I think we'll definitely be doing a part two with you guys.
[52:09] So maybe give it another year and we'll have you guys back.
[52:13] Yeah.
[52:14] Might have a downlight by then.
[52:16] Please go get the down light and a new vacuum.
