In this episode, Silvija sits down with Daniel and Whitney to unpack how they turned a simple goal of paying off their mortgage into a much bigger vision building wealth and creating long term security for their family. While they were already making progress, they realised they didn’t fully understand what was possible without the right structure and plan. They share how implementing a clear system and weekly budget transformed their day-to-day spending, eliminated unnecessary purchases, and gave them complete control. With consistency and discipline, they not only paid off their home loan but also secured multiple investment properties, without increasing their income. This episode highlights the power of having a clear goal and the right guidance to execute it. What started as “just paying off the mortgage” quickly became a pathway to freedom, momentum, and building a future for their kids. 👉 Watch the free webinar to start your journey: https://bit.ly/43V2jKN

## Transcript

[0:00] I definitely have to say the investment properties that we're able to secure.
[0:03] Because we were in such an advantageous position and now we've paid off our home loan through Infinity.
[0:10] That's a big win.
[0:11] That's a massive win.
[0:12] That's a big win.
[0:13] Big win as well.
[0:14] The actual plan that Infinity has set up for us, there's a goal.
[0:19] And now that the goal itself has been set, it's a massive win for us.
[0:26] Money isn't rude of all evil, the fucking lack of it is.
[0:28] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:31] When I put that into emphasis, when I realise that psychological effect and how it hit our family, I have to be in the fucking way.
[0:38] You are now watching the Money Mentor Podcast.
[0:40] With Graham Holm.
[0:41] Graham Holm.
[0:42] Graham Holm.
[0:43] Graham Holm.
[0:46] You're fucking gone.
[0:47] See ya.
[0:48] Hey, guys.
[0:48] My name's Sylvia.
[0:49] I'm one of the relationship managers at Infinity, and I have Whitney and Daniel with me today, and we're going to talk about their journey with Infinity prior to Infinity and also maybe some goals that they want to achieve.
[1:03] That's great.
[1:04] That's good.
[1:05] Excellent.
[1:06] All right, guys.
[1:06] So let's kick it off.
[1:08] So prior to joining Infinity, your home loan was around $37,000.
[1:12] What actually made you want to join Infinity?
[1:16] I think because we put in so much hard work, getting our home loan down to such a manager position, we wanted to keep that momentum running.
[1:27] We had a good plan, which I say good plan.
[1:32] It was just a plan to pay off our mortgage.
[1:34] It was a plan to pay off the mortgage.
[1:35] We didn't know what we were going to do next.
[1:36] But we didn't really realise what was capable, what we were capable of.
[1:44] Yeah.
[1:44] And having a goal.
[1:47] like paying off our mortgage puts, put us in a great mindset, but we wanted to, we'll, we got, we'll get into that goal very, very quickly, relatively quickly, I guess, um, but we wanted to expand on that.
[2:02] We wanted to, um, we've, we, we paid off our home loan, but we wanted to have some sort of wealth creation.
[2:10] We wanted to see what was possible.
[2:14] Awesome.
[2:14] Yeah.
[2:15] So tell me, what were some of the biggest changes that you noticed after joining Infinity?
[2:22] Um, we took advice and made an FFF account and that was our weekly budget.
[2:29] And that is now just our natural normal.
[2:34] That's the norm.
[2:35] That's the norm now.
[2:36] So like, yeah, we won't, I will always, if I'm going to buy something, if I need something or the kids like, um, I'll look at that and see how much we've got for the week.
[2:46] If we have some money.
[2:47] Yeah.
[2:47] We get it.
[2:48] We don't.
[2:48] We don't.
[2:50] Budgeting like for the supermarket, for the food shop, I'll just go now on Coles Online and I'll do the bought before and it's the same stuff every week.
[3:01] Like we might change it up a little bit for different dinners occasionally but we are creatures of habit and so that's just our norm.
[3:09] And that's brought down how much we're spending on bits and pieces during the week.
[3:14] There's no incidental, not needed things that we're buying.
[3:19] I wouldn't say we're even being conservative about our spend.
[3:23] We're just actually planning our spend.
[3:26] Aware of what we're spending.
[3:27] Yeah, much better.
[3:28] We're a little bit more...
[3:30] If we know we want to go out for dinner or something like that, something we sort of, I wouldn't say budget for, but we just...
[3:38] Work to our means because, yeah, with our budget set, we've got a little bit of fat in the system, but now it's getting chewed up from fuel, unfortunately.
[3:47] But, yeah, plenty.
[3:51] So what is your FFF currently?
[3:53] $750 for a family of four.
[3:56] Okay.
[3:57] And you find that easy?
[3:59] Do you struggle with that?
[4:00] No, it's easy.
[4:01] Yep.
[4:02] Yep.
[4:02] Now that we haven't.
[4:03] I think we've really gone over.
[4:04] No, we've never.
[4:05] Except maybe Christmas.
[4:06] Mm-hmm.
[4:08] You know.
[4:08] Yeah.
[4:08] That, yeah.
[4:10] But that's okay.
[4:11] Most weeks we're in excess.
[4:13] So we have about $50 to $60 a week.
[4:17] Leftover?
[4:17] Leftover.
[4:18] Okay.
[4:18] Which we sort of roll into.
[4:19] Okay.
[4:20] What do you do with that?
[4:21] Do you go on date nights or do you put that money towards something else, put it back into salary and bills?
[4:27] It normally sits in that pool until we decide.
[4:31] So like last week, Zoe, our daughter, she loves her jiu-jitsu and she's been competing a lot with all that.
[4:39] And while we're in Melbourne City, we decided, hey, let's take kids out for lunch to one of our favourite restaurants.
[4:47] It's a pretty expensive restaurant, but we're like, it's normally something where you reserve for ourselves, like if we've got a date night or something.
[4:55] But, yeah, we had a $300 splurge at one of our favourite restaurants and we took kids along.
[5:00] Okay.
[5:01] And that's through having monies left over in your FFF and putting it towards something special for the family rather than taking out of your salary and bills.
[5:11] So you're kind of budgeting within your FFF as well?
[5:14] Yeah.
[5:15] Awesome.
[5:15] That's great to hear.
[5:16] Yeah.
[5:17] So hopefully this fuel crisis doesn't last too long and then we can do that a bit more often.
[5:22] Awesome.
[5:22] Yeah.
[5:24] So what's one piece of advice or system since joining Infinity that has made a lasting difference for you and your family?
[5:33] Um, it's made us, for me, for the day to day, organizing the day to day, week to week, family life and home life.
[5:42] It's made me aware of what I'm spending because I always thought that I was good with money.
[5:49] As in, I didn't spend, I didn't overspend because I'm not one to go to the shops on the weekend just because I'm bored and go and spend money.
[5:57] I thought I was good, but having the FFF, having a very, like a known amount that I can spend for the whole week, it's made me really aware of what I'm spending, how I'm spending it.
[6:11] Yeah.
[6:12] What's the microtransactions really that sort of catch most people out and sort of port us out a little bit, even when we had our credit card.
[6:18] So like the tap, tap, tapping kind of situation.
[6:20] Yeah.
[6:20] You don't do that anymore.
[6:21] You just stop and think now.
[6:22] Like, oh no, I don't have, yep, we don't actually need it.
[6:25] Yeah.
[6:25] And just like subscriptions on the credit card and things like that.
[6:28] You're like, are we actually using all this rubbish?
[6:30] Yeah.
[6:31] Um, and just sort of making ourselves a little bit more accountable with our spending.
[6:37] Like even since being up here, like we went out for breakfast, we had to go or went out for breakfast, um, this morning and for dinner last night.
[6:45] Well, like we haven't done that for a while.
[6:47] Like just being a little bit more conservative about the way we sort of spend money, even coffee from home and, and, um, yeah, just not that frivolous spending and on little knickknacks and rubbish and
[7:00] So good to hear.
[7:00] I love it.
[7:01] Yeah.
[7:01] So tell me, what's one of your biggest wins since joining Infinity?
[7:08] Uh, I definitely have to say the investment properties that we're able to secure, um, because we were in such an advantageous position and now we've paid off our home loan through Infinity.
[7:20] That's a big win.
[7:21] That's, well, that's a massive win.
[7:22] That's a big win.
[7:23] Big win as well.
[7:24] Um, the doors that it's opened, um, yeah.
[7:28] Yeah, just the actual plan that Infinity has set up for us, there's a goal.
[7:37] And now that the goal itself has been set, it's a massive win for us.
[7:44] Because without a goal, we just don't necessarily be working.
[7:50] I don't know what we would have done.
[7:52] No.
[7:53] No.
[7:54] Prior to infinity, we did want to get an investment property.
[7:59] Yeah, we wanted to better ourselves.
[8:02] Thinking now, like it would be funny to know what we would have gone and done.
[8:06] Like we would have just gone and thought, oh, that looks like a nice house.
[8:09] Like it might be worth more in a few years.
[8:11] Like we would have just gone and bought that.
[8:13] Probably would have bought more with our heart than our head.
[8:15] Yes.
[8:15] So having like an expert advice and someone to guide you and do all the work for you.
[8:21] Yep.
[8:23] How has that been for you guys?
[8:24] It's been pretty mind-blowing to see how many people actually go into helping us.
[8:30] Yes.
[8:31] Yeah.
[8:31] There are people for everything and I'll lose track of names of how many people are helping us and what they're doing.
[8:40] And then when our plan was presented to us, the amount of work and information that was presented to us and given to us about everything.
[8:51] You know, the investment properties, where and why and what they plan and what they see and what they predict.
[8:57] And I was like, oh, okay.
[8:58] Like, okay.
[9:00] Yeah.
[9:00] Cool.
[9:01] And we don't, we.
[9:02] I would never have thought of any of those things.
[9:04] No, no.
[9:05] The two of us, if we did this by ourself.
[9:07] No, definitely not.
[9:08] Yeah.
[9:09] So currently you're home loan free, bad debt free.
[9:12] Yeah.
[9:13] What's that feel like?
[9:14] I don't think we're really, I think we knew it was on the cards at some point.
[9:20] Because my aim personally was, I don't know why, but I just picked the number of 40.
[9:23] I'm 39 now.
[9:24] Oh, I'd say how old you are?
[9:27] 39.
[9:27] Two weeks younger than me.
[9:29] She always has to tell me that.
[9:32] To be debt free by 40.
[9:34] It's amazing, hey?
[9:35] Yeah.
[9:35] And we put in a lot of hard work and using the free seminar stuff, we got pushed ourselves a little bit closer to that much quicker than we were already planning on doing.
[9:50] But I don't think we've actually really taken note of it to be honest.
[9:55] No, we haven't changed.
[9:56] We still, we have not changed from our FFF 750 at all.
[10:01] Yeah, the plan is still pushing.
[10:03] It's still the same, yep.
[10:05] So whatever we're saving from not having a mortgage is going towards… It's been reinvested.
[10:11] Yeah, different things.
[10:12] And we're going on a family trip.
[10:15] So we've saved the money already for that.
[10:17] That will be… And it was amazing how quickly that came around to saving.
[10:20] Yeah, and that will make us just chill.
[10:24] We'll be able to go on holiday, enjoy it, not have to worry about money.
[10:29] And you guys deserve it because you've put in the hard yards over the course of so many years.
[10:36] And you've been with Infinity since August 2025.
[10:41] What have you achieved in this time?
[10:43] So like seven months since joining Infinity, what has actually transpired for you guys?
[10:48] Paid off our mortgage.
[10:49] Yep.
[10:50] Two investment properties.
[10:52] I haven't paid them off yet.
[10:53] We've secured them.
[10:54] Oh, no, secured them.
[10:55] Oh, yes.
[10:55] No, that's what I mean.
[10:56] Yeah.
[10:58] And we've saved and we'll be able to pay for our trip before we even go.
[11:02] Yeah.
[11:03] And that bank account is constantly recharging quicker than we ever thought possible.
[11:10] So it was normally like you have a goal of saving $5,000 to $10,000 over a six-month period, whereas the bank account just keeps growing.
[11:20] And we're not earning any more.
[11:22] No.
[11:22] We still got the exact same jobs.
[11:24] Yeah.
[11:24] Not earning any different.
[11:26] We just seem, it just seems to be working a lot better.
[11:30] So the processes through infinity are helping you guys and has worked for you.
[11:35] Do you think other people could do the same as you?
[11:37] Yep.
[11:38] It's so simple.
[11:39] Yeah.
[11:40] So simple.
[11:40] Like it's actually amazing how simple the actual process is.
[11:47] And if you have the plan set for yourself and you can just consolidate your accounts and whatnot, the process can be switched like that.
[11:59] So there's others that are sitting on the fence thinking, should we join Infinity or, you know, they're undecided, they're not ready to take that leap.
[12:09] What would you say to them?
[12:11] Jump on a free webinar to get yourself a bit of an idea of what it's about.
[12:16] And that small little snippet of that 45 minutes of your time will completely change your outlook.
[12:30] joined.
[12:31] It's, yeah, it's, it's changed the way we see money, um, and what our future looks like really.
[12:38] Hmm.
[12:39] Um.
[12:40] We're excited to see what's going to happen next.
[12:42] So six months in and it's been pretty, it's been very good for us.
[12:46] Yeah.
[12:46] Absolutely.
[12:47] And I, I've never really cared.
[12:50] about money.
[12:51] I've always, my goal in life has always just been to pay off the mortgage, be debt free, and then just chill it and enjoy myself.
[12:58] But now I'm excited to see what's to come.
[13:03] I think once we sort of paid off, were getting close to paying off the mortgage and paying off the mortgage, both of us had in our mind that it's party time and we can go do whatever we want.
[13:13] And then as it became loomed closer and closer, I'll say loomed, it's an achievement.
[13:18] 100% achievement.
[13:20] Yeah.
[13:22] I didn't want that momentum to stop.
[13:24] I wanted to actually improve our position.
[13:27] I don't necessarily want to become a multimillionaire or anything like that, but I want to set ourselves up and our kids that we're not working until we're 90.
[13:36] But I want to be able to give our kids experiences while they still want to hang out with us.
[13:39] Yes.
[13:40] Yeah.
[13:40] Yeah.
[13:41] Before they hate us.
[13:41] Before they hate us.
[13:42] Before they hate us.
[13:43] Too old and too cool.
[13:45] Too cool to be with their mum and dad.
[13:46] Turn out.
[13:47] Yeah.
[13:48] Teenagers.
[13:48] So what does it feel like knowing that you're setting up generational wealth for your kids?
[13:53] Yeah.
[13:56] Well, I hope we do.
[13:57] I hope we really do set things up for the kids because you look at the prices of houses now.
[14:03] And the way, yeah, the way the world's going.
[14:06] And I do wonder, like, I know our parents said it to us when they were young, like when we were young.
[14:13] Of course.
[14:13] You know, you won't be able to afford a house.
[14:16] And I'm thinking that for my kids.
[14:17] I don't know how they're going to afford a house if it's, yeah.
[14:20] I hope that we really do set it up for.
[14:22] Yeah.
[14:23] Yeah.
[14:24] Yeah.
[14:25] Definitely.
[14:26] And I feel like we're on the right track to be able to do that for them.
[14:30] Whether it be not necessarily to put them in a home, but to like a house or something like that.
[14:36] But to give them the right financial guidance that they can go, hey, if I do dot, dot, dot and dot, they can achieve the same things in a quick fashion as well, relatively quick fashion as well.
[14:50] But just, yeah.
[14:52] I think also seeing what you guys are doing and what you have done.
[14:56] And your kids are a little bit younger.
[14:57] They're under 10 years old.
[15:00] As they get older, watching what you guys do, I'm sure they're going to implement similar strategies to their own life, saving money, not spending money, not tapping away.
[15:09] Yeah.
[15:10] Yeah.
[15:11] And I hope that we can show them, like, if we are able to take them every year on a holiday, they can see that, you know, we work so hard during the year and we don't just go tap, tap, tapping away throughout the year so that we can experience these great things.
[15:27] Yeah.
[15:28] And so I hope that imprints on them.
[15:30] Yeah.
[15:31] Well, I just want to say I'm really proud of both of you.
[15:34] I'm excited to be on the journey with you guys.
[15:36] I love our chats, our monthly chats.
[15:39] We might even be going on to bi-monthly.
[15:41] You guys are doing so well.
[15:43] You really deserve to have this holiday in Japan, and I can't wait to hear all about it when you return.
[15:47] So thank you so much for coming down.
[15:49] Thanks for having us.
