Tracy and Steve from Perth share how they turned their finances around after discovering Infinity through Facebook. Married for 30 years with kids and grandkids, they were carrying significant debt tied to their home loan and multiple consumer purchases like cars and a caravan. Initially sceptical, Steve warmed up after attending a masterclass that gave them clarity on how to restructure their finances. By selling unnecessary assets, eliminating credit cards and committing to a strict weekly budget, they managed to pay off $180,000 in home loans within just a few months. Today, they’re almost completely debt-free and focused on building long term wealth through smarter investing and disciplined money management. They credit Infinity’s mentoring, community support, and structured guidance as major contributors to their success, remaining active in the program despite the challenges of time zones. Their story is a testament to what’s possible with commitment, education, and the right financial strategy. 👉 Follow the link https://bit.ly/43V2jKN to watch the free webinar and start your journey to financial freedom now!

[0:00] Most good real estate is sold off market because the 10 people, 20 people that miss out on that one that are desperate to buy, the agent can think, oh, I've just actually listed something last night around the corner.
[0:11] Do you want to come and have a look before it goes to market?
[0:15] Yeah.
[0:15] Most, a lot of real estate is sold off market.
[0:18] People just don't know.
[0:19] Money isn't rude of all evil.
[0:20] The fucking lack of it is.
[0:21] Not money, the lack of understanding money.
[0:24] When I put that into emphasis, when I realized that psychological effect and how it hit our family, I have to be in the fucking way.
[0:31] You are now watching the Money Mentor Podcast with Graham Hunt.
[0:34] Graham Hunt.
[0:36] Graham Hunt.
[0:41] Welcome back to The Money Mentor and today we're continuing with the Changing Lives Financially series.
[0:47] Two very special guests today.
[0:49] Very, very exciting story.
[0:51] So welcome to the lovely Tracy and Steve.
[0:53] How are we?
[0:54] Well, mate.
[0:55] Thanks.
[0:55] Are you nervous?
[0:56] Yes, very.
[0:57] Don't be nervous.
[0:59] We'll figure it out.
[1:01] Hey, why don't we start with a little bit of background on who you are, just where you're from, all that sort of jazz, so people at home go, okay, get a bit of a feel for it, and then we'll dive into the financial stuff.
[1:12] Okay.
[1:13] Do you want me to do it?
[1:14] Yeah, go for it.
[1:16] Okay.
[1:16] We're from Perth.
[1:18] We've been married 38 years.
[1:19] 38 years?
[1:21] Yes.
[1:23] How happily married.
[1:24] I know.
[1:25] I know.
[1:25] 19 and 21 we were.
[1:27] Wow.
[1:28] My school sweethearts?
[1:29] No.
[1:29] God, no.
[1:31] No.
[1:32] We've got two kids, several grandkids.
[1:39] One due in two weeks?
[1:40] One due in two weeks.
[1:41] Oh, wow.
[1:42] Yeah.
[1:43] Very exciting.
[1:44] Yeah.
[1:44] Okay.
[1:45] And when, why, and how did you find Infinity?
[1:49] Who found us?
[1:50] Were you both on board?
[1:51] One of you were like, nah, bullshit.
[1:53] Give us the background there.
[1:55] I found you.
[1:55] Okay.
[1:56] I was scrolling Facebook and I started watching your podcast.
[2:03] Yep.
[2:05] And, yeah, I said to him, I've...
[2:13] signed us up for the Masterclass.
[2:15] Oh shit, found this fuckwit online.
[2:17] Yeah.
[2:18] He said to me, what the hell are you doing?
[2:21] I says, oh look, it's not that much money.
[2:25] Just do it.
[2:26] And yeah, we just went from there.
[2:30] Okay.
[2:31] On Perth Times, you gotta get real early for Masterclass.
[2:34] Yeah.
[2:34] Oh yeah mate.
[2:35] How much was this shit?
[2:36] What time?
[2:36] What do you mean I gotta get?
[2:38] Yes.
[2:39] The whole weekend.
[2:40] Yeah?
[2:41] Yes.
[2:42] So when did you do your masterclass?
[2:44] Anzac weekend.
[2:47] So it was a long weekend for us, which was really good.
[2:49] Okay.
[2:50] So we had time to recover before we went back to work.
[2:53] Okay, good.
[2:55] Yeah, so April.
[2:56] Yep.
[2:56] And tell us what was the financial situation before we did the masterclass?
[3:01] So do we have a mortgage?
[3:02] Do we have a home, investment properties, cars, boats, planes, trains, caravans?
[3:06] Yep.
[3:07] We had investment properties, but we had already sold all of those and we made one loss.
[3:14] So we still
[3:16] brought that with us.
[3:18] Okay.
[3:19] And we had a home loan.
[3:21] Yep.
[3:23] But it was a home loan without a home loan because we did a stupid thing.
[3:30] We actually paid cash for our house, but we didn't have enough for the stamp duty.
[3:35] Yep.
[3:35] So we borrowed stamp duty.
[3:37] Yep.
[3:37] And then we borrowed for a caravan.
[3:40] 30 year rolling house.
[3:42] Yeah.
[3:43] Yeah.
[3:44] So that was great.
[3:47] So the home loan was stamp duty in a caravan?
[3:50] Yeah.
[3:50] Okay.
[3:51] Yeah.
[3:53] And it was like a revolving home loan.
[3:56] We paid it off.
[3:58] Then we bought a car to tow the caravan.
[4:01] Right.
[4:02] What were you towing the caravan with before you bought the car?
[4:05] An old car.
[4:06] Oh, okay.
[4:07] Yeah, but because we're getting older, we did a trip and thought this was uncomfortable, so we'll buy a nice new car to tow the caravan.
[4:15] Well, new stuff makes us feel good.
[4:17] Yeah.
[4:18] You've got to pay for it.
[4:19] Exactly.
[4:20] Yeah, so now, yeah, we still had our home loan.
[4:23] Okay, so a couple of hundred grand.
[4:26] No, it was only 130.
[4:27] Okay, 130 grand.
[4:28] 130 grand, yeah.
[4:30] So that's where you're going into masterclass, and that's for the caravan, the car, and the stamp duty.
[4:36] Yep.
[4:36] Okay.
[4:37] And no other investments, all sold, just 130 grand home loan at that point in time.
[4:42] And a $50,000 loan from a loss of the sale of one of them.
[4:51] Attached to the home.
[4:52] Okay.
[4:53] So really $180,000 in debt.
[4:54] Yeah.
[4:55] Okay.
[4:57] And did Masterclass.
[4:58] Yep.
[5:00] And?
[5:00] Had the light bulb moment.
[5:02] Yep.
[5:02] Sell that fucking caravan.
[5:04] Yeah.
[5:05] How often did you use the caravan?
[5:07] Didn't you call it a lawn ornament or something?
[5:09] Yes.
[5:10] Set there for a year before we actually used it.
[5:11] Really?
[5:12] Yeah.
[5:13] That's fucking bad.
[5:14] It had cobwebs on it.
[5:14] Yeah, exactly.
[5:16] And then before we sold it, we used it, and then we sold it.
[5:19] Did you enjoy using it?
[5:22] I did, but he...
[5:23] It was good once it was all unpacked.
[5:25] He hated it.
[5:26] Just unpacking and then repacking it.
[5:28] Yeah.
[5:28] Just become anonymous.
[5:29] He had to do most of it.
[5:30] It's a bit of a pain in the arse.
[5:32] I think it's too much hard work for me.
[5:33] Yeah, it was a lot of hard work.
[5:35] Just check into the fucking cabin or the hotel or somewhere and I'm having a holiday.
[5:39] Yeah.
[5:40] And you've got to hitch it and drive it.
[5:41] That's what we're going down there, mate.
[5:44] Okay, so the lawn ornament was gone.
[5:46] Yes.
[5:46] Yep.
[5:46] Okay, sold.
[5:48] Before we got to REM.
[5:49] Before REM?
[5:50] Yes.
[5:50] Well done.
[5:51] Yes.
[5:52] Yeah.
[5:53] And home loan, so you said, was it March, sorry?
[5:57] March?
[5:58] April.
[5:58] April, sorry, April 25th.
[6:00] Yep.
[6:01] How, 180 really, how much is the home loan today?
[6:05] Zero.
[6:07] From April this year?
[6:09] Yep.
[6:10] So you sold the caravan?
[6:11] Yes.
[6:11] Paid the caravan loan and part out?
[6:13] Yep.
[6:14] We had two cars.
[6:15] Yep.
[6:16] That one sat in the garage, because he has a work car, so we sold the car.
[6:23] I've only got one for you.
[6:24] We kept one of the cars.
[6:25] Okay.
[6:25] Yep.
[6:26] Okay.
[6:27] We kept the new car.
[6:28] So there was a few things going on that were just not structured in the most optimal way.
[6:35] No.
[6:36] Okay.
[6:36] Definitely not.
[6:38] And then just kept paying down the balance of the debt from April this year through to November this year, November, December.
[6:44] Yeah, we've got a little bit left on the investment line that we had to bring over that's got nothing attached to it.
[6:51] Okay.
[6:53] They carried that loss anyway and all that sort of stuff.
[6:55] Okay.
[6:56] So how does it feel to be able to get rid of the lawn ornament, get rid of the excess car,
[7:02] I don't know, is that good?
[7:03] It is, mate.
[7:04] It's right off your shoulders?
[7:05] My dream was always to be mortgage-free.
[7:08] And then when we hit it, it was like, fuck.
[7:11] That's the best feeling.
[7:12] It's a good feeling?
[7:13] Yeah.
[7:14] Pinch yourself moment?
[7:15] It is.
[7:15] Yeah.
[7:17] Most satisfying.
[7:18] Especially nearly 60, we were getting a bit worried there.
[7:23] Yeah, you want to start to get some choice and you want to pull back from work and travel, but maybe not have to fucking hitch and unhitch and pack and unpack the fucking caravan.
[7:32] Yeah.
[7:34] Yeah.
[7:35] Oh, I love caravans.
[7:36] No.
[7:38] Okay, so tell us, any investments?
[7:41] Have you been able to reinvest again or...?
[7:43] Yes, at REM.
[7:46] We went and visited Lou and we came out of there shaking.
[7:52] Shaking?
[7:53] Yes.
[7:54] We were in shock.
[7:54] Too many coffees or something?
[7:56] No, Lou did.
[7:57] Standard.
[8:01] No, we were just like, just in shock what we could get.
[8:08] So the right structure now opens up a little bit more, or a lot more.
[8:12] And we even got better than what we went in there for.
[8:15] What we were hoping to achieve.
[8:18] We didn't, to be honest, because we knew nothing about it and we went in blind, so to speak.
[8:24] Going in there and finding out what we could get was like, are you serious?
[8:30] How many investment properties we've got now?
[8:31] Four.
[8:32] Four?
[8:33] Yeah.
[8:34] Well, three, but one's a dual.
[8:38] Okay, three with four income.
[8:40] You can count it as four.
[8:42] Yeah.
[8:43] And one in our super.
[8:45] And one in your super.
[8:46] No, one of them is in our super.
[8:48] Yeah.
[8:48] Yeah.
[8:48] Okay.
[8:49] Yeah.
[8:50] Which we thought that we couldn't have because we actually signed up a year and a half ago with another finance company to do our super.
[9:01] Right.
[9:02] Because we're getting to that age.
[9:03] Start looking at retirement.
[9:05] Yeah.
[9:05] Okay.
[9:07] They took our money and then told us to stay with the industry super fund.
[9:13] What did they get paid for?
[9:15] I don't know.
[9:16] We got a report.
[9:18] So we now got our... Did you get the money back?
[9:21] No.
[9:22] Fuck, I refund people if I can't help them.
[9:24] Yeah.
[9:25] Well, they reckon they were helping us because they just told us to put more in our super and stay with the people that we were with.
[9:32] Fuck me.
[9:33] Sorry.
[9:34] Yeah.
[9:35] Sorry that happened.
[9:37] Didn't want me asking that one.
[9:39] That was our fault and we found you.
[9:42] Oh, stop it.
[9:43] Yeah.
[9:45] And we love the swearing.
[9:46] Do you?
[9:47] Yeah.
[9:48] I heard a client who's actually a pastor and the wife thinks it's great.
[9:52] Oh, no.
[9:53] I'm not going to change for anybody.
[9:55] Oh, I've got four brothers.
[9:57] You don't need a change for me.
[9:59] I think these days, I mean, whilst it's not eloquent and it's not, it's just it's who I am, it's who I always have been, it's how I speak around everyone.
[10:07] Yeah.
[10:08] Just speak who you are.
[10:09] Mm-hmm.
[10:10] Some people get offended by it.
[10:11] Cool.
[10:12] Well, you're never going to work with me anyway.
[10:13] I can't help you.
[10:14] No problem.
[10:15] I'm only talking to the people that relate to me.
[10:17] Yep.
[10:18] Yep.
[10:19] Good.
[10:19] OK. We were over the moon when we got accepted, mate, to be honest.
[10:23] OK. We weren't sure how it was going to go on that.
[10:26] I didn't yell at anyone on your masterclass or kick anyone off.
[10:30] Yeah, probably did.
[10:31] There was one woman, she was going to Singapore or something.
[10:34] I remember you, get her off.
[10:36] Get her money back.
[10:37] Yeah.
[10:38] I want to do this and I'm over.
[10:39] So I can't fucking help you.
[10:40] Yeah.
[10:41] What are you here for?
[10:42] Yeah, but I want to join.
[10:42] Yeah, but I can't fucking help you.
[10:43] You're in a different country.
[10:45] Yeah, but I want to join.
[10:46] You're not listening to me.
[10:47] I got really frustrated and confused.
[10:52] I know.
[10:52] Anyway.
[10:54] Yeah.
[10:56] So what's the overarching big goal for you guys?
[11:00] More investments.
[11:01] More investments?
[11:02] I want to invest more.
[11:03] You don't want to slow down and cruise into retirement?
[11:05] No, I'm a workaholic.
[11:06] I love work.
[11:07] Okay.
[11:08] I mean, I changed jobs a couple of years ago.
[11:10] I work at the same company as Tracy does.
[11:11] Yeah.
[11:12] I run the warehouse.
[11:13] Yep.
[11:14] And it's something I've never done before.
[11:16] I actually sit on my bum, do some computer work, and hands-on as well.
[11:21] So it's like a job come true, sort of thing.
[11:24] And I'm enjoying it.
[11:24] Cool.
[11:25] Tracy's a couple of years younger, so whenever she decides to retire, I'll retire at the same time.
[11:31] Okay.
[11:33] I don't think it will be for a while, though, because I really love my job.
[11:36] Okay.
[11:36] So you guys want to keep building.
[11:38] Yeah.
[11:39] We're hoping we can.
[11:40] I mean, like I say, we're nearly 60.
[11:42] Yeah.
[11:43] And we're not big, big money earners either.
[11:45] So, um, we know that eventually we're going to have a cat.
[11:51] Um, but you know, we like, we like your method of the waterfall.
[11:57] Okay.
[11:58] thing and we're hoping that as time goes yeah yeah we don't get attached to homes we've actually moved through like 13 times in our married life I've done it in like 11 years our kids hate us because we move so many times tell me what what's been the hardest thing in the process of joining infinity nothing
[12:27] It's been so easy.
[12:28] Your team is fantastic.
[12:31] Thank you.
[12:31] I would have expected the paperwork's hard or changing your habits is hard.
[12:36] No, I was one of those people that had a spreadsheet, a stupid big spreadsheet, insisted that every time he spent money, I got the receipt.
[12:47] I added it to the spreadsheet.
[12:48] That sounds like fun.
[12:49] It's in your internet banking.
[12:51] I know, but we didn't use that tool.
[12:57] Ah, okay.
[12:59] We do now.
[13:00] We love the app that we've got now.
[13:03] I do love that.
[13:05] But the amount of money that we used to spend...
[13:09] on the credit cards, which we don't have anymore.
[13:12] Good.
[13:15] All that money is actually going on our mortgage now.
[13:18] Good.
[13:18] Or on our loan.
[13:19] So it's been easy for you to make the changes?
[13:22] Yeah, well, I mean, you've got to be committed to something, you know, and this is what we're really committed to because...
[13:28] It's a process we can understand and we've got the backing there, which is the most important thing for us.
[13:34] If we get into something we don't know, we can ask the question and we know we can go to someone who has the answers for us or can find the answers for us.
[13:42] So it just makes the process so much easier for us.
[13:46] What have you learnt so far?
[13:47] It's only been a short amount of time, but what have you learnt that you could share with people listening in about anything in the process?
[13:55] Just follow the process.
[13:57] I know everybody says that on the podcast, but it's so true.
[14:01] Yeah.
[14:03] If you've got a question, ask your RM.
[14:08] Stick to your FFF.
[14:10] Yeah.
[14:11] I mean, I think we've got a pretty good FFF.
[14:15] Ours is 500.
[14:16] Yeah, okay.
[14:17] And we did the challenge.
[14:20] We dropped it down to 300.
[14:22] Wow.
[14:23] I know, I know.
[14:24] And we managed it, but we tend to... We're not tappers.
[14:32] Yep.
[14:33] So we like to take some money out and have money in our wallet.
[14:37] Yep.
[14:38] You've got what you've got and that's it.
[14:40] Yeah, yeah.
[14:42] And we mainly use the card for, you know, to go do your grocery shopping and stuff like that.
[14:49] Yep.
[14:50] But...
[14:53] Yeah, that was probably our biggest change.
[14:56] Okay.
[14:57] Because before we just used the credit card.
[14:59] Yep.
[14:59] And that was our safety net.
[15:03] Are you surprised how much money you've got flowing through now in the new structure?
[15:07] Yeah.
[15:08] A little bit surprised?
[15:10] A little bit, yeah.
[15:11] A little bit, a big bit.
[15:12] You wondering where it all used to go?
[15:14] Yeah.
[15:15] I mean, for the sweets that we're doing.
[15:16] It used to go on the credit card every month because I used to pay it off all the time.
[15:20] She paid it in full.
[15:21] Every month.
[15:22] Yeah.
[15:23] But.
[15:24] It's not achieving what it's achieving now.
[15:26] Yeah.
[15:27] The money's saved.
[15:27] That money's now going onto the lines.
[15:30] So it's obviously a big financial change, big outcome.
[15:33] But you seem to, what I'm hearing is it wasn't a big change for you guys.
[15:36] You were just like, right, we're committed.
[15:37] We're doing it.
[15:38] The lawn ornament's gone.
[15:39] The car's gone.
[15:40] Yep.
[15:40] And we're knuckling down and off we go.
[15:42] Are you going without butt?
[15:45] Not really.
[15:46] Not really?
[15:46] No.
[15:46] Okay.
[15:47] Are there any holidays planned anytime soon?
[15:50] Yeah, we go to Bali every year for our birthdays because our birthdays are together.
[15:55] We're both Gemini's.
[15:59] And it's Stephen's 60th, so we're taking the kids.
[16:06] Good.
[16:06] So...
[16:07] It's a big holiday.
[16:08] Yeah.
[16:09] Yeah.
[16:09] Enjoy it.
[16:10] Yeah.
[16:10] Definitely won't.
[16:11] We will.
[16:12] We will.
[16:13] A chill time.
[16:14] So you're not going without?
[16:15] No.
[16:16] No, no, no.
[16:17] No, definitely not.
[16:19] No.
[16:19] We don't go out a lot.
[16:21] We never have takeaway.
[16:23] Okay.
[16:24] I always cook.
[16:25] We always do meal preps.
[16:27] That's the biggest thing, because I do 10 hour days.
[16:29] Yep.
[16:30] So I prep on the weekends, so that when I get home, all I have to do is basically put it on.
[16:40] Yeah.
[16:41] What do you think, I mean, obviously you guys have reached out, you've done the homework, you've gone through the process, you're pretty much debt-free by that old investment debt, which is a great result in six to eight months.
[16:54] What do you think stops the average person who's not part of our community, what do you think stops the average person from doing this sort of thing?
[17:02] Buying shit.
[17:06] It's a very honest answer.
[17:08] It is.
[17:08] It is.
[17:09] So many people buy so much shit.
[17:13] Can't believe how much shit they buy.
[17:16] You like that word shit, don't you?
[17:18] Yeah.
[17:19] Yeah.
[17:20] Good shit.
[17:23] It is.
[17:23] What about people that, oh, I don't buy that much shit.
[17:26] Oh, no.
[17:27] Look, you know, a bit of this, a bit of that.
[17:28] We've got so many expenses.
[17:30] But even buying food for lunches and stuff, you can't buy lunch with it.
[17:35] without spending 15 bucks a day.
[17:39] We take our lunch.
[17:41] I always make his lunch.
[17:42] Everybody at work is like- Takes the piss.
[17:45] Yeah, takes the piss because he gets his lunch made for him.
[17:50] You ever complain about that?
[17:51] But yeah, no.
[17:53] What about the people like, it's too good to be true?
[17:55] I've seen it on social media, it's gotta be a load of shit.
[17:59] Well, that's how I felt when I first heard it.
[18:02] Yeah, he was sceptic.
[18:04] I was sceptical.
[18:04] And then, like I say, when we sat down to the master class, it just resonated.
[18:09] It just, oh, fuck.
[18:11] You know, we were going down the wrong path.
[18:13] This is the right path.
[18:15] Were you the kind of bloke that ever would have sat down at a computer for eight hours to listen to someone gibber on about money?
[18:20] No.
[18:21] Shit, no.
[18:22] He doesn't even know how to pay a bill.
[18:26] I've been married for 40 years.
[18:28] He's just trying.
[18:29] Nearly 40 years and he's never paid a bill.
[18:32] I try.
[18:33] He's happy just to have his hand out every week and get some money.
[18:38] And now we sit at the dinner table and we talk about,
[18:43] finances and our investment properties and all that sort of stuff.
[18:48] So is there a bit of a turnaround?
[18:49] There's a different relationship dynamic now.
[18:51] It's a bit more open to talk about money and you're excited and what we're doing and where we're going.
[18:56] Very big turnaround.
[18:57] That sounds like it's a conversation that wasn't happening previously.
[19:01] Never.
[19:01] Why?
[19:02] Because you never wanted to know about it.
[19:05] You never understood it.
[19:06] You got a bit financially aroused all of a sudden, mate.
[19:08] Maybe.
[19:09] Maybe.
[19:11] How'd that effect on men?
[19:13] And women?
[19:15] Yeah, no, it was.
[19:17] Yeah, like I said, something just went like that and it was like, fuck.
[19:22] So what we've taught you over the weekend, it obviously made sense to you all of a sudden.
[19:25] You understood it.
[19:26] Exactly, exactly.
[19:27] Like...
[19:28] My job is to take really complex shit and distill it right down.
[19:32] Yeah.
[19:33] Almost anyone can understand it.
[19:35] Exactly.
[19:35] Even people's kids in the background.
[19:37] Yeah.
[19:37] Right?
[19:37] And most people get it.
[19:38] We're pretty good at it, right?
[19:40] Yeah.
[19:40] So is that the turn?
[19:41] Is that all of a sudden like, oh, that makes sense.
[19:44] I kind of always knew you could do that.
[19:46] I just didn't understand the steps or how.
[19:48] Is that the...
[19:49] Well, like I say, when it comes to finances for me, yeah, one plus two, that's about it, you know, sort of.
[19:55] Yeah.
[19:55] But when it comes to the...
[19:56] I've pretty much looked after it all.
[19:58] Yeah.
[19:59] But then when I turned around and says, oh my God, I did that wrong.
[20:02] Oh, we shouldn't have put the car on that, on that.
[20:05] So I did that wrong too.
[20:07] And it's like, oh my God.
[20:09] And then when you turn around and say, um...
[20:14] you only know what you know.
[20:16] It's like, well, yeah.
[20:18] You can't be hard on it.
[20:20] Unless somebody gives you the tool, it's only something to be angry about or frustrated if you knew what you know now and you didn't use it.
[20:27] Yeah.
[20:28] That's where I think someone does a much, and they don't do anything after the weekend.
[20:31] That's bonkers.
[20:33] Yeah.
[20:33] That is absolute.
[20:34] Like, to learn that information and not act on it, that's crazy.
[20:38] Yeah.
[20:39] Yeah.
[20:40] Okay.
[20:41] Yeah, well, as soon as we paid for the...
[20:44] The joining thing?
[20:48] Yeah, yeah, application.
[20:50] Yeah, the application.
[20:51] We cut up at the credit cards.
[20:53] Oh, good.
[20:54] Yeah, because we had two.
[20:55] We had American Express and we had a normal.
[20:58] They're really ingrained into the process straight away.
[21:02] And we got sucked into the frequent flyer porn shit.
[21:04] Yeah.
[21:05] Yeah.
[21:06] Yeah, I need some fucking frequent flyers for all you people from WA.
[21:09] It did come in handy, though, because we've now used all our frequent flyers because we've booked for the Christmas party.
[21:17] Oh, I'm happy then.
[21:18] Yeah, we used all that.
[21:18] We used every point, mate.
[21:20] Every single point.
[21:21] Actually, all of our Perth peeps, use your fucking frequent flyers instead of your toasters and shit and come to the Christmas party.
[21:26] Yeah.
[21:27] It's going to be fun.
[21:28] It's going to be awesome.
[21:29] We actually went shopping yesterday.
[21:32] Oh, awesome.
[21:33] We grabbed the trolley.
[21:34] We grabbed a couple of things.
[21:35] But then the problem was we went down one aisle, then we went down another aisle.
[21:39] So we've actually got a trolley full that we've lay-bied.
[21:42] So when we get back here, we can pick it up.
[21:44] A lot of people say that they're just doing a lay-by.
[21:46] Some people are like, oh, can we ring the store and lay-by and click and collect?
[21:49] Because everyone's asking me, like, is there a drop-off point at REM?
[21:52] I'm like, guys, I can't have, like, a thousand presents from Kmart brought across the road to REM.
[21:58] to then take back to Kama.
[22:00] Like, I can't, I'm sorry, I can't.
[22:02] They're like, oh shit, I'm like, fuck, give me a break.
[22:06] That's, talk to me, I'm really, I'm actually really humbled by that thing.
[22:11] Talk to me about the fact that,
[22:14] Obviously, we've had some impact in your life since April this year.
[22:17] Definitely.
[22:18] You guys are filling up trolleys of presents for the Kmart Salvo's Wishing Tree Appeal.
[22:23] And you're flying over from Perth in a couple of weeks to come to our charity Christmas party.
[22:28] That's a big ask.
[22:29] Yeah.
[22:30] To fly from WA to Gold Coast to pay for a hotel to get your costumes yet?
[22:36] You bought your outfits?
[22:36] Yeah.
[22:37] Sure.
[22:37] buy your outfit can you maybe talk to that for the the newer people in our community or some random person listening going the fuck are they talking about is this a finance company or what
[22:48] No, it's not a finance company.
[22:50] It's not a finance company.
[22:52] It's a family.
[22:54] Okay.
[22:54] It is.
[22:55] It's a big community.
[22:56] So you guys are obviously enjoying the network and the friendships.
[22:59] Yeah, I should cheer.
[23:00] And instead of just, here's your loan, fuck off.
[23:02] Yeah.
[23:03] And we're very quiet people.
[23:05] Yeah.
[23:05] And we keep to ourselves a lot.
[23:09] because, well, basically because we work full time.
[23:14] We're too tired to do anything any other time.
[23:18] But yeah, we've just embraced it.
[23:22] When we went to REM, that sort of, that was another thing that was out of our comfort zone.
[23:29] I bet.
[23:29] We've got out of your comfort zone.
[23:31] I walk out on every fucking stage, it's out of my comfort zone.
[23:34] It just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
[23:36] I know.
[23:36] Even a week came out.
[23:38] I know.
[23:40] But everybody was just so nice.
[23:42] Everybody spoke to us.
[23:45] We met people from Perth.
[23:47] Yeah.
[23:49] Which was great.
[23:50] And we have contact with them through Messenger.
[23:53] We made some new friends out of it all.
[23:55] Yeah.
[23:55] Yeah.
[23:56] Different stages of journeys.
[23:58] Yeah.
[23:58] Yeah.
[23:59] Yeah.
[23:59] Okay.
[24:00] I mean, we were in the foyer of the hotel yesterday afternoon.
[24:03] We'd walked in.
[24:04] I had the hat on and that.
[24:05] There's a guy.
[24:06] And then we're chatting.
[24:07] And then they're all just coming in from the door.
[24:10] Taking over.
[24:10] Taking over the foyer of the hotel.
[24:13] Let's get some bumper stickers.
[24:14] Infinity Fam on board.
[24:17] I need a couple of those.
[24:18] Yeah.
[24:19] So you're really enjoying the process?
[24:20] Oh, definitely, mate.
[24:21] Yeah, we are.
[24:21] Definitely.
[24:22] We love the community base.
[24:27] We love that we've got lawyers at hand, which we've done our wills now.
[24:36] Okay.
[24:36] Good.
[24:37] So you've really got all your affairs in order.
[24:39] We have.
[24:39] We've done our SMSF.
[24:42] SMSF, yes.
[24:43] Selfing super, yes, with the financial planners.
[24:46] So you're working with the external financial planners, external lawyers on your wills and estates.
[24:50] Yes, we've done all that in the last four months.
[24:53] Tax accounting.
[24:57] Um, yeah, we've told him that, like, for the next financial year, yeah.
[25:02] Oh, so you've still got the same account and all good?
[25:04] No, no, we've got the new ones.
[25:07] Okay, yep.
[25:07] Yep.
[25:07] Yep, okay.
[25:08] Yep.
[25:09] The ones that are doing our super, looking after our super.
[25:12] They're taking, okay, that makes sense.
[25:13] It's all together with the financial planner.
[25:15] I just like how it's all connected.
[25:17] Yeah, we can all talk to each other.
[25:19] Yep, and we don't have to worry about it.
[25:23] There's a lot of changes there.
[25:24] I know.
[25:26] I know.
[25:27] You look very chuffed with yourselves.
[25:29] We are.
[25:30] We're actually achieving something that we're really proud of what we're doing.
[25:33] Yeah.
[25:35] Explain.
[25:37] Okay.
[25:37] You look so chuffed.
[25:39] We're leaving it for our grandkids.
[25:40] No, this is great.
[25:42] So if you were to explain infinity to somebody tuning in, you go, these people are just smiling away and they've paid the house off and they've got a heap of investments and they're coming from Western Australia to Queensland for a fucking Christmas party and they're filling up trolleys with presents for people less fortunate this year.
[25:57] Which we've never been able to do.
[25:59] I think you better stop drinking my Kool-Aid.
[26:01] I think I poisoned you.
[26:03] Explain all this to somebody in a sentence or two.
[26:08] So you come to get help to pay your loan off.
[26:12] Yep.
[26:13] And you walked out with what?
[26:15] The four?
[26:16] The family, the extended family.
[26:20] It's just a big extended family.
[26:23] My kids think it's a cult.
[26:26] It's our finance cult.
[26:29] And I'm still working on them.
[26:32] Well, everyone's peppering me for infinity tattoos at the Christmas party.
[26:36] Yeah, I'm waiting for one.
[26:37] I'm like, I can't be part of that.
[26:38] Then I looked at it and it was like skin penetration and licensing and someone gets infected or someone's had too much to drink.
[26:46] This is fucking too complicated.
[26:48] I'll send you across the road to the tattoo shop and just say, hey, you're about to get 3,000 people that want a tattoo.
[26:53] Are you ready?
[26:54] I think that's one because there's one or two right across the road.
[26:57] Yeah?
[26:57] I think I'm just going to have to ring him and go, hey, can people just book in with you?
[27:01] We'll give you a booking.
[27:02] Yeah, literally, we'll give you a booking link, eh?
[27:03] Yeah.
[27:04] It's funny, actually, because my daughter's got a tattoo and she's actually got the infinity sign.
[27:10] Really?
[27:11] Yeah, yeah.
[27:13] Tell her, welcome to the cult.
[27:15] I've had that for years.
[27:20] But yeah, maybe it's a sign, I don't know.
[27:22] But yeah, I'd really like to get them into it.
[27:26] You can't really explain it.
[27:27] It's so hard to explain.
[27:30] You have to feel it.
[27:31] You have to get to know what it's all about to thoroughly be able to explain it properly.
[27:37] Let me ask you this question.
[27:38] Take the leap.
[27:39] What would happen if there was no infinity tomorrow?
[27:42] We'd still be in the same boat.
[27:43] I'd cry.
[27:44] Cry?
[27:46] For two seconds.
[27:48] No, no.
[27:49] I know.
[27:50] So it's been a big change for you.
[27:51] It's a big turnaround.
[27:52] Special to you.
[27:53] Yeah.
[27:53] In just a couple of months.
[27:54] Yeah.
[27:55] I like that.
[27:56] We're just the average JBLO.
[27:57] Yeah.
[27:58] We took a gamble.
[27:59] In a way, you could say it's a gamble.
[28:01] Yeah, yeah.
[28:02] And it's paid off.
[28:03] So for what we've put into it, you've got more out of it than what we've put in.
[28:07] That's the thing.
[28:08] If you make an investment, people think, oh, I've got to spend money.
[28:11] No.
[28:11] Make an investment, you need a return on investment.
[28:14] So whatever the cost of the advice is, that should yield a return.
[28:18] Yes.
[28:19] You've got that back in the first couple of months.
[28:20] Fuck happy days.
[28:21] Exactly.
[28:22] Yeah.
[28:24] Yeah.
[28:25] Like I say, it's just.
[28:26] It's a personal touches too.
[28:27] Yep.
[28:28] So what's it like having the team around you?
[28:30] fantastic they are so awesome who's your team we've got sam yeah toby and lou um yeah all the boys all the boys all the boys love nat yeah that's awesome yeah yeah he's working the backside off nat and megan and jones they've pulled off some amazing community oh you did the one of the western australian community events yeah
[28:55] Because they were there for like a week.
[28:56] Yeah.
[28:56] They were doing football and cinemas and pubs and... Yep, we did them.
[29:01] Yep.
[29:01] No, it's just, it's a community that until people actually get involved in it, they won't understand, I don't think.
[29:08] I mean, we can explain them, we can show them everything.
[29:10] Yeah.
[29:11] And then, I mean, we can show them the proof of how big a turnaround and what the outcome is for us.
[29:17] Yeah.
[29:17] You know, and then...
[29:19] It's up to them.
[29:20] Exactly.
[29:20] You can lead a horse to water.
[29:23] Yeah, true.
[29:24] What do you guys do as your food fuel fund each week?
[29:27] How much?
[29:28] 500.
[29:28] 500.
[29:29] Yeah.
[29:30] And how many in the household?
[29:31] Just two and the dog.
[29:32] Two and the dog.
[29:33] Okay, kids have grown up.
[29:34] Yeah.
[29:35] Okay.
[29:36] 500, not too bad.
[29:37] It's pretty good.
[29:38] Yeah.
[29:38] Get your pocket money each week.
[29:40] You get your five bucks and she gets $4.95?
[29:42] No.
[29:43] No?
[29:44] No, he actually spends more than me.
[29:46] Oh, shit.
[29:47] Oh!
[29:48] I'm not a shopper.
[29:49] Shots fired.
[29:50] Yeah, I'm not a shopper.
[29:51] No, we'll basically, we'll take basically $50 a week out and put it in our wallet.
[29:58] It's just something I like to have, you know.
[30:01] Coffee, beer, sandwich, whatever.
[30:03] Yeah.
[30:04] Bunnings.
[30:05] Lotto.
[30:06] Bunnings snag.
[30:08] Um, yeah, so, but I don't spend mine.
[30:13] I usually let it accumulate in my wallet.
[30:17] And he goes to your wallet while you're asleep and slips a 50?
[30:19] No, no, he's pretty good actually.
[30:21] No, no.
[30:22] But my thing is I like to get my hair done, so I save mine up to pay my hair because I'm too tight to take it out of the bills.
[30:30] To take it out of the line.
[30:31] Okay.
[30:32] Okay.
[30:33] I want that money to stay on the loan.
[30:36] What do you hope the future looks like?
[30:38] Because we're going to do a round two of this because it's a pretty crazy journey, right?
[30:41] So I'd like to sit down again in maybe six months or 12 months.
[30:45] So I know, yeah, well, this is, we got rid of that debt, which we've done, and now we're going to get rid of the investment debt maybe, and here's the investment.
[30:51] So it'd be good to do a bit of a review.
[30:53] But what would you like to see the future hold for you guys?
[30:55] Well, Sam has given us goals.
[30:57] Okay, good.
[30:57] Yeah, so we're hoping to have the rest of that investment paid off by January.
[31:04] Excellent.
[31:05] Yep.
[31:06] We need to do a podcast just after that.
[31:10] No pressure.
[31:13] And then we're going to concentrate on getting some money in the vault.
[31:18] He calls it the vault.
[31:20] Yep.
[31:20] Yep.
[31:21] So because we've always been sort of asset rich and money poor.
[31:26] Yep.
[31:27] Which is not a good feeling.
[31:29] Okay.
[31:30] Um, it's the first time we've had money actually in the bank really.
[31:36] Okay.
[31:36] Cause we've always lived on credit and then just paid it off every month.
[31:39] So really it's always been a bit of a struggle.
[31:41] Yep.
[31:42] Always lived on credit, had to pay the credit off.
[31:44] Yep.
[31:44] There was either something left or not left.
[31:46] It was actually.
[31:46] School fees was like another mortgage.
[31:49] Right.
[31:49] Each time.
[31:50] Um.
[31:50] So you're actually struggling.
[31:52] We were, yeah.
[31:54] Okay.
[31:54] Yeah.
[31:56] Yeah.
[31:56] Too scared to spend any money.
[31:57] Hmm.
[31:59] Do the kids or family or friends, have they noticed a change in you in the last couple of months, do you think?
[32:06] Or have you kept it under wraps?
[32:07] Because sitting here talking about it, you're pretty fucking happy, right?
[32:10] I mean, we don't tell them a lot, but we do say, you know, we're doing something.
[32:15] And if you're interested, go and watch it.
[32:18] We don't try and give them too much information.
[32:20] I see two people not under pressure, pretty happy, enjoying themselves.
[32:24] Yeah.
[32:24] I mean, if I've seen you meet you in pressure, pre-masterclass, bit of debt, I think there'd be a key difference of who rocked up for dinner with the fam versus who rocks up today.
[32:34] Yeah.
[32:35] Yeah, probably.
[32:37] Yeah.
[32:38] We do try and give our kids a lot.
[32:40] Okay.
[32:43] And help them out when we can.
[32:44] Yep.
[32:47] But, you know, we don't,
[32:50] We don't want to spoil them.
[32:53] I mean, they're adults anyway now, but we're there for them if they need us and we're there, they know that.
[33:03] As I say, doors are open.
[33:06] Yep.
[33:08] Um, but, um, you know, they've got their own journey and they've got to find their own way.
[33:14] Um, we'll help them where we can.
[33:17] I mean, we helped our daughter get into a home.
[33:19] She actually bought one of our investment properties.
[33:21] Right.
[33:22] Um, which didn't work out very well for us.
[33:25] It's in the ass.
[33:26] It's in the ass because we didn't get the right advice.
[33:30] Mm-hmm.
[33:32] So we had to pay a bit, but we promised her, so we stuck to our...
[33:39] guns because you do that for your kids.
[33:41] Yeah, yeah, of course.
[33:44] But they wouldn't have been able to get in the market if we didn't.
[33:47] Okay.
[33:48] And they haven't got shit jobs.
[33:51] They've got really good jobs.
[33:54] But it's so hard.
[33:55] Yeah.
[33:55] So hard to get in the market for them these days.
[33:58] Not very good of you guys to help.
[34:00] Yeah.
[34:00] Tell me this.
[34:01] What could we do better?
[34:02] Yeah.
[34:08] Well, that brings me to the question that I wanted to ask you.
[34:10] Yeah, we can do that too.
[34:12] And I do that now?
[34:13] Yeah, go on.
[34:14] Okay.
[34:16] Would you consider employing RMs in Perth?
[34:21] Because the time differences.
[34:23] Yeah.
[34:24] In the time that we've been with you guys, we've never been able to have a meeting with Sam together.
[34:30] Yeah, okay.
[34:31] Good point.
[34:32] It's very hard, so we do phone calls.
[34:34] There's two offices on the cards besides America.
[34:38] Perth office, like a WA office.
[34:40] Okay.
[34:42] And Sydney CBD because we're in Western Sydney.
[34:45] Right.
[34:46] We're just moving Melbourne offices in the next couple of weeks or so to a much larger Melbourne office.
[34:52] Obviously HQ here.
[34:53] We have Wollongong.
[34:54] So we're sort of very evenly spread up the coast with, you know, Gold Coast and then all the way down to Sydney, Western Sydney, then Wollongong, then Melbourne.
[35:02] So we're pretty well spread there.
[35:04] Yeah.
[35:04] Yeah.
[35:04] um obviously pretty much everything is digital these days yeah post-covid people don't want to get in the car drive somewhere both find a park come into an office yeah it's so like i i can count on one hand every month out of thousands of clients who comes into the office like literally on one hand it's just convenient right just get on a zoom or a call yeah um it is on the cards we've had
[35:29] You wouldn't even need an office.
[35:31] You could let them work from home.
[35:33] Oh, no.
[35:33] Oh, you don't like that?
[35:35] Oh, no.
[35:36] It's not Victoria, no?
[35:37] Yeah, yeah.
[35:39] And even that thing they're passing, I've actually looked at that and studied that.
[35:42] It's actually not, it can't be legally enforced.
[35:45] Really?
[35:46] Yeah.
[35:46] So they can try to, but I've already gone and looked at that with lawyers.
[35:49] It's like, no, it doesn't work like that.
[35:50] Yeah.
[35:51] But I'm a big believer in what we do.
[35:54] That's why I asked people what can we do better, is what we do, like say, for example, if Sam's having a conversation with you and four or five of his colleagues around him can hear that,
[36:07] And they go, oh, what was that?
[36:10] And then Sam can turn around at the end of that and train and teach all of them how he helped you fix that issue.
[36:16] That can't happen remotely.
[36:18] I don't care what anyone says.
[36:20] I cut my teeth in banking and fine.
[36:22] No two clients are ever the same and life issues are always somewhat different of, hey, vet, medical, hospital, whatever.
[36:30] Yeah.
[36:31] And how you access money and when you get paid.
[36:34] There's so many variants.
[36:35] Yep.
[36:36] So I have a very strict rule that until you pass, you say, six months probation, you're here five days a week or longer.
[36:42] Yeah.
[36:42] Whatever's required for the customer.
[36:44] Yep.
[36:45] Once you pass your probation and you're hitting all your customer metrics, sure, you can do a day from home or a two-day, you know, something like that.
[36:52] Yeah, that's fair enough.
[36:53] But I think that there's a big issue with – and that's why I say to be a physical office until people get – and, you know, you're always growing and stuff like that.
[37:01] We're going at a wild rate.
[37:03] They have to do the apprenticeship.
[37:05] Yeah.
[37:06] It's like we're losing trades and this and that because kids come in these days and as soon as they get their apprenticeship and they become like a second year and they get their P's in a toolbox –
[37:14] and they think they've got a mobile phone and they think they run their own fucking company now.
[37:18] And the quality of the workmanship is fucking dog shit.
[37:22] It's rubbish, right?
[37:23] You see it when you go into some things these days.
[37:24] So I think the next wealthy people in Australia and globally will be tradesmen.
[37:29] I think people that have got that skill and the hard work ethic and good quality trade work.
[37:34] Yeah, very much so.
[37:35] I think that's going to be the next boom.
[37:38] But yeah, I'd have to open an office there because I'm very firm on the expected service levels.
[37:47] And no one's perfect.
[37:47] You have different staff at different times can let you down.
[37:50] Boy, have we got amazing people right now.
[37:53] Yeah.
[37:53] Amazing people.
[37:54] You definitely have.
[37:55] So, yeah, Perth's the Harbourment Times.
[37:56] And that's the one probably even before CBD next year I'd probably look to open.
[38:02] Yeah.
[38:02] But it's hard for me because I'll go to New Zealand before I go to WA.
[38:05] It's just so far away.
[38:08] Mind you, I don't leave my little patch, you know, but I'm keen to get over there.
[38:12] Yeah.
[38:12] I need a bloody... Coming this summer might be better.
[38:14] I need a fucking jet or something, the amount of WA clients we've got.
[38:17] I know.
[38:18] Yeah, it's definitely a conversation and dialogue at the moment.
[38:24] But to do that, I'd really, really want somebody from my eastern seaboard locations to relocate there.
[38:31] Yeah.
[38:32] Because I'm so confident in the people I have.
[38:36] Yeah.
[38:37] I feel so good at what they do.
[38:38] They're so caring.
[38:39] I'd never just go and open an office cold turkey and hire 20 or 50 new people.
[38:43] Yeah.
[38:44] I need that DNA and culture and care factor to continue.
[38:47] Yeah, definitely.
[38:48] WA is definitely on the cards.
[38:50] Oh, that's true.
[38:51] Purely from a time location.
[38:53] Time zone and stuff, yeah.
[38:54] I still think no one will come into the office, but just a time zone thing.
[38:57] Yeah.
[38:59] Likewise, one of the other solutions we've looked at there is just adjusting schedules.
[39:03] So some people, like in the CBD, instead of nine to five, say, office hours, people could work seven to three.
[39:10] Okay.
[39:11] And people could also work 11 to 7.
[39:13] Now, the problem with that is it's very hard to police.
[39:16] You've got to trust your team.
[39:17] Yes.
[39:18] He goes, oh, I work 11 to 7, and they roll in at 12 and leave at 5.
[39:22] Yeah.
[39:22] My team wouldn't do that, obviously, but no, the customers would tell us.
[39:26] Yeah.
[39:27] It's just human nature.
[39:28] People then obviously dropping the kids off and ducking out here, and it's busier.
[39:32] I do, and this is just a very data-driven, I am in first in COVID when I said to people, okay, you can work, at first I said, no, central services, someone's gonna be locked out of their home, their loans aren't gonna settle, you must be here.
[39:45] And then later on, people are like, I've gotta work from home.
[39:47] I said, oh, I've got to, my kids are off.
[39:49] I've gotta do my kids' schoolwork all day.
[39:51] I said, well, that's interesting.
[39:53] And this is a funny one for our business.
[39:54] It said, your kids are off school.
[39:56] You either work and you're having client meetings all day or you're homeschooling or babysitting, which is it?
[40:01] And they said, Oh, I've got it.
[40:02] My kids are at home all day.
[40:03] I've got to do the school with them.
[40:04] I said, so you're taking leave.
[40:06] Yeah.
[40:07] It's funny how human being brains work because a lot of people then I actually had a lot of staff.
[40:11] I said, well, you're welcome to resign.
[40:13] Well, you're welcome to take a leave because whilst it was a crazy time for people, I understand the kids had to be home, but you still had to work.
[40:21] that's right the kids and i still had to pay you so it's the work gets done or no one gets paid the customer had to be looked after because they were freaking out too yeah so i'm a really really bit of an asshole on that but it's what's built our current service level so stay tuned for a wa office oh that's awesome no that'd be good yeah because i i work from seven till five yeah
[40:43] So it's really hard.
[40:45] It's either...
[40:46] It's like the mams, right?
[40:47] Four in the morning.
[40:47] Yeah.
[40:48] You guys are all just knocking off work and the mams start.
[40:50] I clock on at four o'clock, so I get home at four o'clock.
[40:53] Yeah.
[40:53] I clock on.
[40:54] Yeah.
[40:54] And then Tracey's time starts early that day.
[40:56] She'll come in.
[40:57] Yeah, I start at six that day.
[40:58] I mean, you've always watched the replay, but it's...
[41:00] I know, but it's nice to actually... Be part of it.
[41:03] Yeah, exactly.
[41:03] You want to be part of it.
[41:04] What's this space?
[41:04] What else could we do better?
[41:08] I don't know, I don't think there's anything you can do better.
[41:10] We were, like, blown away with Rem.
[41:13] We had so much food.
[41:15] We didn't know what to do with it.
[41:17] Chocolates, mate.
[41:18] I should have brought a box with me, an empty box.
[41:21] Did you get an ice cream or did Lenny eat them all?
[41:23] No, we didn't eat the ice cream.
[41:24] I didn't find him.
[41:25] I found the Maltesers and everything else no more.
[41:27] Just outside the ballroom all night is unlimited ice cream, so freezers for ice cream.
[41:33] Yeah, no, we didn't have those.
[41:35] Next time, next time.
[41:37] Stop his diet that once a month.
[41:39] Next time.
[41:40] No, he liked the chocolates and stuff.
[41:43] Then a few days when we were there, it was just like, what's going on?
[41:48] Your head's just spinning and, you know, and you try to take it all in that short period of time.
[41:53] Yeah.
[41:54] And then you're sitting in there and listening to all...
[41:56] I think the next one will be better because you can just take a little bit more in and... Each time you take a bit more in and a bit more in.
[42:03] Yeah, yeah.
[42:04] What questions did you have for me today?
[42:06] Well, I've asked my question.
[42:08] The only other question I had was, we're not in our forever home because we don't get attached to homes anyway and eventually we will downsize.
[42:23] Do you help with the community to buy over there?
[42:30] In what aspect?
[42:31] Like help us make the right choice.
[42:33] Yeah, of course.
[42:35] Oh, good.
[42:35] Like when you're going to sell, we'll give you that guidance of how to pick the right agent.
[42:40] Yeah.
[42:41] So you get online, for example, you go, right, my suburb, my price, my thing.
[42:44] You go to sold, not for sale.
[42:46] And then you go most recent.
[42:48] Right.
[42:48] And it'll show you on Domain or is that which agent sold the most homes at what prices.
[42:54] Okay.
[42:55] Because that means they have all the listings and they're getting all the results.
[42:58] For sale means nothing.
[42:59] They ain't selling shit.
[43:00] Yeah.
[43:01] Sold is the person getting outcomes.
[43:03] Right.
[43:04] Do a little tally and go.
[43:05] me ray white prd mcgrath blah blah joe block oh ray white sold seven of the last 10 homes in our area right good prices yeah i'm gonna fucking talk to ray white yeah lj hooker lj hooker right so there's these little things we teach you to do that sam would run and have a look at it oh yeah cool only talk to these two agents and ask them to give you comparable quotes yeah and
[43:32] This is what we charge.
[43:33] This is the campaign we run.
[43:34] And you send them to us.
[43:36] Yeah.
[43:36] And we check them.
[43:38] Right.
[43:38] Okay.
[43:38] Right.
[43:39] Yeah.
[43:39] And then we go back and say, yep, that's fair and reasonable.
[43:41] You should pay that amount of money.
[43:43] They're an expert.
[43:44] Or no, ask for a discount on this or let them cover.
[43:47] Because real estate's the only industry where you pay someone for a service, but you pay all your own costs.
[43:53] Yeah.
[43:54] Doesn't make sense, does it?
[43:56] No.
[43:56] You pay your own photography, your own marketing, your own advertising, and then they get a commission after you funded their business.
[44:02] Yeah.
[44:02] Yeah.
[44:02] The fuck is that?
[44:04] I know.
[44:04] Think about it.
[44:05] It's a rort.
[44:07] Like, if you want my business, you should pay for the photography and have your own photographer on board on a wage.
[44:12] You should pay for the marketing and advertising because you're getting a sales commission for marketing and advertising and selling my fucking house.
[44:18] Yeah.
[44:19] Yeah.
[44:19] So that's why I sell off market.
[44:21] If I go to sell a home, I sell off my...
[44:23] I'm not paying photography.
[44:24] I'm not paying...
[44:25] If it's a good home, ring... And let everyone else do that.
[44:28] So when I'm selling, I go, oh, the house around the corner just sold for fucking 10 mil.
[44:31] I go, great, I reckon I'm worth 12.
[44:32] I'll ring... Hey, mate, I said you sold this for 10.
[44:35] Well, you would have 30 people that missed out on that house.
[44:38] Yeah.
[44:38] I do.
[44:39] Great.
[44:40] I'll sign the paperwork with you.
[44:41] I'm not giving you a fucking cent.
[44:43] No... And I don't need to sell what I'm thinking.
[44:45] And if you can get me 12, I'll sell.
[44:47] Mm-hmm.
[44:48] Well, in photos and internet, because that means a property is so shit that you've got to stick it on the internet and hope somebody finds it.
[44:54] Yeah.
[44:54] Most good real estate is sold off market because the 10 people, 20 people that miss out on that one that are desperate to buy, the agent can think, oh, I've just actually listed something last night around the corner.
[45:07] Do you want to come and have a look before it goes to market?
[45:09] Mm-hmm.
[45:09] Yeah.
[45:10] Most, a lot of real estate is sold off market.
[45:12] People just don't know.
[45:14] Mmm, yeah.
[45:16] A lot of that snapped up by investors like me too.
[45:19] Yeah, yeah.
[45:21] Yeah, well we've just had ours...
[45:24] I can't help you pick the new house.
[45:26] Because you have to like it.
[45:28] Yeah, I don't know whether I want to...
[45:34] I don't know whether I want to go back into debt for it.
[45:37] That's the only thing.
[45:38] Are you going to upgrade or downgrade?
[45:40] Well, we'll probably go smaller, but it's so expensive right now.
[45:44] Yeah, well, you get that on the western side at the moment.
[45:47] Yeah, I know.
[45:48] He would come over here to live, but I said no because my grandkids are over there.
[45:53] Fair call.
[45:54] Not leaving them.
[45:55] Yeah, fair call.
[45:56] But do you want another house?
[45:58] Do you want to lock up and leave apartment?
[46:00] Are you going to travel in retirement?
[46:02] Yeah.
[46:02] Carmans aren't very popular over Perth.
[46:06] I don't know why.
[46:07] I probably go for like a small cottage block with just a smaller home on it so we can still potter around in the garden and stuff because I do... A big shed.
[46:17] Oh, he wants a big shed.
[46:18] You've got to have something.
[46:20] In a big shed.
[46:21] You can have the house, I'll have the shed.
[46:24] Yeah.
[46:25] We don't know.
[46:25] It's an exercise we just need to run frequently for you when you want to.
[46:29] Yeah.
[46:29] And you can look at it now and we can write a strategy.
[46:32] No, no, no.
[46:33] Now's not the right time.
[46:34] I mean, nothing's going to get cheaper, but you're going to sell and buy in the same market.
[46:37] Yeah.
[46:38] Your home, you always sell and buy in the same market.
[46:40] You're trading one, you're picking up another.
[46:42] Yeah.
[46:42] So it's just the timing thing for you.
[46:44] Yeah, yeah, I think so.
[46:46] I think at the moment we just want to build wealth more than anything.
[46:53] Okay, we'll probably just keep doing what we're doing for now.
[46:56] Yeah.
[46:57] Yeah.
[46:58] We'll have a chat, we'll look at the strategy and we'll see if there's any bells and whistles we can put on it.
[47:04] Yeah.
[47:05] Otherwise we let time do its thing.
[47:06] Yeah, well, we've got a while before any of them are settled.
[47:11] Any other questions for me?
[47:12] I was going to give you a question, mate, but when I've watched the podcast, I think every person that's asked you a question has been asked.
[47:19] So it's like... Oh, no.
[47:21] I'm sure there's some that haven't.
[47:23] There's a lot of...
[47:26] I don't know.
[47:28] If you ask what I'm wearing at the Christmas party, I don't know.
[47:30] You don't know?
[47:31] No, probably a tablecloth.
[47:32] Timmie's not coming?
[47:33] No.
[47:35] Timmie might come out later after a couple of shots of tequila or something.
[47:40] He had a crack at me at the rim, mate.
[47:42] We were sitting front and centre at the rim.
[47:45] And old Timmy's there with his legs spread.
[47:47] You look at my tin snips.
[47:48] I didn't have a choice.
[47:49] I was looking at Timmy, you know.
[47:51] Your foot was right there.
[47:54] Could have made your skull a warm VB.
[47:56] Oh my gosh.
[48:00] Lucky I had shorts on underneath.
[48:01] Oh God.
[48:01] Nah.
[48:06] Very good.
[48:07] You should be really proud of yourselves.
[48:09] Thank you.
[48:09] We are.
[48:09] Really proud of yourselves.
[48:10] I'm glad everything's going so well and so smooth for you and you look so vibrant and happy and it's really good to see someone doing so well.
[48:19] So just be really proud of yourselves.
[48:20] Yeah, we just can't wait to smash those next goals that Sam has given us.
[48:25] look forward to it and we'll we'll do a part two just after January reckon that debt's going to be gone you said right we're hoping January yeah no I'm aiming for January end of January depending on my movements whenever the next podcast series is in sort of Jan Feb we'll sit down and we'll we'll hash it out and see how you've gone so everyone can follow the journey yeah well done thanks for sharing guys thank you very much thanks appreciate all your help thank you we do mate
[48:55] You're fucking gone.
[48:56] See ya.
